Where do I begin? I was hesitant to go since I have a usual spot I go to, but I had to go to that area for an errand and my friend suggested it since she had been there for where they cook the meals in front of you. First we come in, no greeting, we sat in sushi bar, the booths were so tight and uncomfortable. So we moved over to the actual sushi bar, the guy came out gave us a death stare (no greeting again, even if doesn't speak english say hello, nod head, anything to notice us). I noticed dried up food on the bar area we were sitting, they had a jelly fish tank, few dead in tank and pretty sure the rest were dying. Pretty crummy to look at while eating. Finally a waitress comes over, practically throws sushi menu at us, explains really quickly how to order, gives us one, so we had to get up get another so we were both able to look at menu. They do have lots of options and rolls looked amazing, so we took about 10 min to decide. She came took our drink order, then she was gone for awhile we sat and placed menus up for sushi guy. Waitress came back, placed order to him for other customers, no biggie. Then looked at our menus and said okay. So I noticed sushi guy had gloves on, but he kept leaving to back several times back and fourth. I never saw him change his gloves, but eventually I got chatting so I am not for sure. So I had edamame for app, my friend had veggie tempura both bland but not terrible. We each had two sushi rolls, I only made it through one of my rolls and got full. It was very good, I will give them that. VERY PRICEY my tab for just me was over $40!!! I usually get more and pay that for two people, Well later that evening I got deathly ill, the whole 9 yards...I texted my friend how sick I was and I think it was the restaurant. She said she had also gotten sick. I am still sick 2 days later, I reported them to health department. Anyhow, stay far far far away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had the hibachi shrimp, the boss roll, yakisoba noodles, fried rice, and the tofu delight and it was all great. Our chef had great showmanship and was getting the whole table involved. The chef didn't overload the dishes with soy sauce so you could add soy or sauces as you please after he's done. The service here was fantastic and I can't wait to try it again.

Every time I come here I try something new and every time it is amazing! All of their sushi is amazing and their steak is cooked perfectly! I always get the managers choice because the steak and shrimp combo is very filling and seasoned well. The fried rice is a must topped off with some of their yummy orange sauce. They changed their soup recently and it is much better, very nice on a cold day! I eat a lot at the sushi bar and if I could eat it everyday I would. The King Kong roll is the best fried roll I have ever had. Their all star and salmon lemon rolls are fresh and scrumptious. But if I had to eat one everyday it would be the yummy yummy it is super filling and well priced. The service is always amazing the waitresses are attentive and friendly. I am a regular and they always make sure to make me feel right at home. They make great drinks I love the banzai! Even the owner is very friendly and will talk to you. I have been to other hibachi restaurants but this is the only one I have been too where the chefs are very friendly and talkative. Like with all hibachi restaurants you have to wait for the table to fill up but the staff always make it worth your while. They interact with you and you can always expect a friendly smile. This place keeps improving and their food taste amazing every time! I will be back very soon! I want to try the whole menu!

Overpriced Benihana copy cat. Many menu items no better than a decent teriyaki joint but 3 times the price to have a corny chef (usually not Japanese) cook in front of you. The meat portions are not generous but the veggie portions are (go figure.) Sushi pieces overpriced for size of cuts. Slow service in a half empty dining room on a Fri night. Waste of money unless you think having the chef try to flip shrimp into your mouth is entertainment worth paying 2X+ what the food is worth - then it's OK/3 stars.

Just another Hibachi grill restaurant. The food is can be expected, fried rice is ehhh, meat was okay. Also had Tuna poke salad as appetizer which had good flavor but small portioned. Tempura shrimp was great however. Service was semi lacking.

Ask for Ryan yellow hat dudes a boss. Great food, great service, great people. Sushi bar is also awesome if you don't want to the full experience.

The sushi was pretty good thanks to the recommendations of the friendly sushi chef... Pretty dead for lunch service, so it was lacking atmosphere. Also, far too expensive for what you get... Omg roll was amazing..

This place is overpriced with gross tasting food. Save your money and go to Samurai's in Spanaway where you can get the real Japanese steakhouse experience.

  • Melissa W.

The food is overpriced for the quality of the food. And they don't have happy hour unless they are too stingy to offer it. I like their seared salmon roll. Your average sushi joint.

The wait to be seated only took 15mins. (Which I was surprised) but once we sat down waited for 30mins for our food. Good wasn't too good. Rice was still hard. Chef was burning. Order was a messed. This will be my last time coming here.

  • Addie D.

Sushi is great! I had their California roll with seared salmon on top. DelisH!! Warning: you will smell like food when you're done eating from all the cooking and grilling. Not recommended for parties that are planning to go out after dinner or lunch. It was my first experience and I'm a fan! I was excited about their fried ice cream dessert but I've had better fried ice cream else where. It's a must-try! Especially their sushi.

First let me say, the 1 star isn't because of the food. The food was delicious & the chef prepared the chef special that we ordered to perfection!!!!!!! The 1 star is for the complete ambivalence of the staff when one of our sake glasses fell apart and a full glass of sake was wasted. My fiancé picked up the glass he'd been using all night, on the last glass the bottom fell out of the glass spilling all his sake onto his shirt and pants!!!!! The staff didn't notice, when trying to flag them down, they slowly made their way over......& their only comment was "oh.....are you ok?.....the bathroom is back there". No I'm sorry......no let me get you a fresh glass......nothing. So the tip that was once 20%.......dwindled down to 10%. I almost feel like even that was too much. I guess I wouldn't be as upset if they were busy, but they weren't. There was one other couple and one other patron there. Be advised, if you order sake make sure to check the glasses!!!!!!!!!

This place is weak. The lady serving us took for ever to take our order then took forever to bring it. Our habachi guy was terrible. My Salmon was super bland. I am not coming back

my friend and I stop by two weeks in a row trying to have lunch and they continually refuse to seat us claiming that they're closed when the store hours clearly say they're open I will never attempted you here again

Well thanks to my lack of planning for our Valentine's Day/Anniversary dinner, I made plans for our family of 8 to try this place. First things first, I made a reservation online and received my notification that this was approved. Great, quick and easy. The day of, I thought let me just confirm this. I called and was told that the online reservation system was not working and that they couldn't confirm this. I said hold up and I don't think so. So the person answering said well hold on....she comes back on and says ok I can confirm your reservation. Not a good start. We arrived early to sit in the bar and have a drink together. Small bar but good drinks. I had the house special sparkling sake with peace flavoring of some type. We were told that we could go ahead and be seated 15 minutes early. Excellent. We were seat around one of the cooking flat iron grills. The waitress arrived and took our order for drinks. We looked at the menu and saw a pretty good selection of appetizers and entrees. Not the cheapest place but it was a special occasion. We ordered two different types of sushi and a variety of entrees involving chicken, shrimp, scallops and steak. The waitress appeared to be handling a few tables and was not too consistent in serving us. We waited for our drink refills which took a long time. Most of the entrees come with soup, salad, rice (white but you can upgrade to fried for an additional charge) and grilled veggies. Here's my problem with all of the food listed, the cook used a huge amount of salt, pepper and soy sauce on all of the entrees, including the veggies. My shrimp and scallops were heavily seasoned so much that I could not eat them. The portions are ok but even the fried rice was salty. Considering the prices of all of this, that was a huge disappointment. The cook does the trick of making a volcano out of an onion and he tried to do something with eggs but that failed. Also, the soup was onion and tasted like it was water with some onion flavoring, completely awful. The salad was not so good and had some type of nondescript dressing. The food is being produced in quantities and it's seriously lacking on good flavoring. This place has become at serving a lot of people with boring food which is completely tasteless. It's a wannabe Beni Hana's. The only saving grace was the sushi which was excellent and the sparkling sake drink. I will not go back and especially after spending the amount we did. The tab included a 15% gratuity because of the size of our party and it wasn't deserving at all. We will not be back.

Service was awful. Sat down at hibachi bar and asked to move by waitress after taking our order and serving soup. Moved to bar area and waitress did not even tend to us. Restaurant was not even busy. Waitress took all of our orders and all came out wrong. I want to chalk it up to the language barrier but there is no excuse for poor service. Food was meh. I wouldnt come back for the price and ambience. Will send my well earns money elsewhere. I should have followed the advice of the previous reviews but if you give it 3 stars I'll at least try. Not even worth 2 stars. Whatever you do, try not to get Sue. Asked for spicy mayo when my meal came out and didn't even get it by the time I finished my meal. Do not get the chef's choice Hibachi. Not worth your money. Just go to a nice steakhouse.

Not Good for Families with kids. We've been periodically coming here for a few years. The past few visits made me decide that I've had enough and we won't be coming back. The Good; -Hibachi Chefs are entertaining. -Sushi is decent The Bad: -The wait times for food are atrocious. It took 25 minutes from the time we ordered a "kids" chicken hibachi to get to our table in the sushi bar. -Sushi bar seating is not good for young children. The tables are too narrow and are far away from the seats for children in booster seats to sit comfortably. -The quality of the food doesn't justify the price. -The restaurant is horribly under staffed for a weekend night. One sushi chef and two waitresses for the entire restaurant?? The waitresses seem to be stressed out to be handling the number of customers at the hibachi grills.

I have only gone here for happy hour so I can't speak to the regular dinner dining. The bar area has a much different vibe than the regular restaurant... a bit younger and urban with chalked walls and TV screens in each booth. You can watch netflix and hulu among other things. The happy hour menu has a varying price range but still very affordable - keep in mind the rolls are going to be smaller than a regular priced sushi roll. My favorite surprisingly turned out to be the king kong roll...everything else tastes about average. Like most bars, you can just seat yourself and the service will follow. Service has been great each time I've been there. We are always greeted by the waitresses and sushi chef upon entering and exit.. knocking off 2 stars cause the sushi is average and on multiple visits there have been some items on the hh menu that were unavailable, which is no big deal since it wasn't anything I was really craving, but the fact that it has happened more than once for different food items was a little off-putting. I think hh is between 4-6 mon-thurs and is great for a quick bite at an affordable price.

I really wanted to like this place, but I wasn't very impressed. In my opinion, you are paying for the experience more than the food. Over-paying. I ordered the Mizu delight, and ended up with a TON of rice, a lot of veggies/cabbage, and some chicken/shrimp. The quality and flavor of the food was just ok. $22, really? After ordering a cocktail, the food tasted a bit better.. but ultimately we ended up spending over $30 per person for so-so food in a strip mall. I would be reluctant to go back, even though it is fun to watch the chef cook your food in front of you.

The service was excellent but the sushi was just average given the price. The boss roll was $15 and it wasn't really anything special. Given the quality of the ingredients, it wasn't worth it.

Mizu is an alternative to not having to drive all the way out to downtown Seattle to go eat at Benihana's. i knock a star off of it for losing originality. the menu is nearly identical to Benihana's - the style of cooking, the "show" and presentation is a direct knock off. i will say that the sauces are better tasting. but what they gain there - they lose in other aspects. we were served sushi with no chop sticks or soy sauce. i had to ask 3 different people before it was brought out. food was so-so. lobster tail was tiny. shrimp a bit over cooked. and the fried rice is no where near as good as benihana's as it was bland. benihana's at least adds chicken and soy garlic butter. the cook was funny and entertaining. i had a good time nonetheless. an a-ok, again, to not have to drive out to seattle.

If I could give this place a 0, I would. My husband and I were staying at a nearby hotel and wanted sushi. I looked up places on yelp and we headed out. This was our second stop, because we went out on Mother's Day and our first choice was just packed! This place had no wait, which was surprising. We went in and were seated at a hibachi table, before telling the hostess we wanted sushi only. She moved us to a booth in front of the sushi bar and a minute later the waitress came over. We ordered our drinks, a beer for my husband and a mixed drink for myself. When the waitress brought them back a few minutes later we were ready to order, but she walked away immediately. I heard the sushi guys telling another waitress they were out of rice and that's why they were held up. I took this to mean they were making more. I tried my drink and almost threw up. The pineapple juice, or something, in there was bad! I looked for our waitress to ask her to take it away and remove it from our bill and to place our order. We waited a solid 15 minutes from the time we were given our drinks until the SUSHI guys (not a waitress, let alone our waitress) said "hey are you waiting for sushi?" to which I replied, yes, we were. We were then informed that they had NO RICE LEFT and could not make any more sushi. I stood up, told another waitress we were leaving, and that we were not paying for our drinks and we left. How a sushi/hibachi place can run out of rice, completely, is beyond me. I would never go back here. The service was awful, the quality of the drinks was worse, and they couldn't even provide food for half their customers! I can't imagine what the quality would have been like on the food, so maybe this was a blessing.

This place was just ok. Our server was a little bit of an idiot- we repeated the one order 3 times and still got the wrong food. The catipillar roll the skimped on the unagi- like barely visible it's so small piece .They were also out of 2 of the 5 items we wanted.quality and size of sashimi was ok. The udon was good. Probably won't come back. Just not good enough to bother.

  • Winnie T.

Someone called this a "benihana knock off" and I'd agree. It has the same show/food quality as the benihana grilled options, but without the crowdedness and having to park downtown for $10+ part. I think the service was great, but maybe that was because there were only two parties in the really large restaurant. The waitress/hostess came by to check on us a few times, and the chef was entertaining and professional. Spicy orange sauce (complimentary) was bomb.

I hadn't been here in a couple of years, so we tried it again yesterday since the little lady had never been - We hit happy hour - it was pretty dead in there. We had a couple of drinks and tried the happy hour sushi - pretty cheap, but the pieces are small. The bar stools were a little rickety - and the bar selection is limited. All in all, its just ok - the food isnt bad, but I think if you went at dinner and paid full price you might feel less enthusiastic. There is a reason I haven't been in a couple of years, and I probably won't be drawn back any time soon.

I spend Monday evenings here sitting at the bar with my laptop. I know, who does homework/business at a restaurant/bar? I'm a college student, whatever. The two Monday night servers are always really accommodating and they make sure to take good care of me. I stick around for hours and they're really sweet. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is super cool. The booths at the sushi bar have TVs in them and you can even access Netflix. Whaaaat? Very cool. Happy Hour: Happy hour is REALLY awesome and there is sushi and other food items for less than $5. Chicken kaarage is my favorite and I order it with a small bowl of fried rice. For drinks, can't go wrong with a pint of Kirin and a large hot sake! On a broke college student budget, this works out really well for me. Cheap food and drinks= college student dream. Grill: If you have money to spend, the grill is always a fun experience. The portions are large and the food is sooooo good. The filet mignon is always perfectly cooked and yummy. WARNING! With a place that is teppanyaki, you WILL wait. Other reviews complain about having to wait a really long time, but with this style of dining, the staff cannot turn on the grill for every pair or small group of people who walk through the door. Clearly, they will not have ten chefs to accommodate every tiny group of diners. They need to fill your table, or at least partially. Relax, chill out. Have a freakin drink and chat with the people you came with. Or order some sushi while you wait. It will be worth it. (Went to Benihana's once, it was not as good as Mizu and there wasn't as much food. Also, that place was super packed and we waited an hour for a table. Never went back.) Staff: I've met the owner of the place and she is really sweet. It's good to see the owner actually hang around her restaurant and help out. The staff is nice. The way I see it is: if you're polite, others are polite. Staff people are still human. Give them a break. Definitely one of my favorite places for Happy Hour food and drinks.

Was here last night for a Teppan-yaki dinner. Nothing spectacular but the place felt really empty. My friend and I were the only two people at the teppan-yaki table and teppan-yaki works best with a full table of friends or even strangers. It's easier for the cook to engaged with the customers. Be that as it may, the cook was very nice. He didn't perform any 'tricks' but if I wanted tricks, I'd hire a whore who will do it for money (shout out to AR, for those who've never seen the show). Anyways, we both ordered the Beef Teppanyaki and two sushi rows. The sushi was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. Edible. Beef Teppanyaki too was ordinary. I guess that sums up the food, the experience and the restaurant., everything was ordinary. The prices were a little steep from my experiences at other teppan-yaki places. $80 for 2 Beef Teppanyaki + 2 sushi roll and we didn't order anything to drink. Come if you've never experience a teppan-yaki dinner, but be sure to come with a group. I think you'll have a better experience. If not, asked the hostess if you can be seated at a table with other customers.

I came here for happy hour and it was over priced. We didn't get a lot for our money. Sure the atmosphere was nice but I'm all about food and service. We barely saw our server and the food was mediocre. For more food for your money go to Genki Sushi. For service go to Blue C Sushi.

4 bad aim food morsels for this entertainment/restaurant!!!! I recently came back here but this time sat in the grill section instead of my typical seat at the sushi bar for some entertainment... let's just say this is a GREAT place to go in the early stages of dating... why... well our chef attempted to use his quick master grill chef skills to "skillfully" shoot bits of morsels in the audience, but after 3 attempts my date, both embarrassed and amused, put an end to my entertainment delight. As usual I had my assortment of sushi and edamame which was average... environment was nice, clean and a bit of funk. My scoring had more to do with entertainment, cleanliness and average customer service than food quality.

My boyfriend and I were split about this place. We both liked it; he would have given it a 4 though. I thought the wait staff was a bit rude. They weren't happy when I wanted to share the main entree with my boyfriend. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, extra soup, and the shrimp dinner. I thought it was a filling dinner. The chef we got seemed a bit new at his job. The other tables had more experienced service. The sushi was to die for. I'll probably go back for that more than nice servie.

Dirty and low quality food. I came here for dinner last week with my boyfriend and my brother and it's the worst teppenyaki of my life! I had the shrimp, my boyfriend had the filet, and my brother went big for the lobster and filet combo. All of the meat and seafood were tough, cooked with the same salty soy sauce seasoning so it all ended up tasting the same, and not fresh. The shrimp that I paid $23 for was the cheap, little shrimp with zero flavor. The lobster was rubbery and smelled fishy. Both the filets were the quality that you buy on 'Manager's Special' at Safeway - not tender, no marbling despite the $40 per plate tag. Top the horrible food with the dirty restaurant (the floors haven't been mopped or vacuumed in ages and the cooking stations have so much grime and grease on them). I will never go here again, I can't imagine what their kitchens must look like if the front of the house is so messy and cluttered. Thoroughly disappointed, appalled that they have the nerve to charge people so much for such low quality food. We paid $150 for the worst meal we've had to date.

I'm suprised by some of the reviews on here... My boyfriend took me on a date last night and we wanted to go somewhere close by, I book marked Mizu because I love the food/atmosphere of japanese steakhouses. Food: The food was really good, I ordered the sukiyaki beef(first meat in alongggg time) and it was SOOO good, the veggies and beef were cooked perfectly. They serve a little salad as an appetizer and it had a yummy peanut sauce vinaigrette, a bit salty but pretty good!! My boyfriend had the steak, and it was perfect! He also got the fried rice which was AMAZING. We got a shrimp appetizer... WOW is all I can say, we should have gotten the shrimp... it was phenomenal! Food overall... 4/5 Service: They were helpful and fast! There was a little boy at our table who was there celebrating his birthday, and the chef made it so much fun!!! by the end of dinner he was on his chair dancing... very cute to say the least... Our drinks stayed full at all times, chef did a great show, Overall 5/5. Ambiance: Inside was great, the only thing I would change would be the music, "popular pop"... not so great, but for the most part it was quiet enough that we only really heard it at the very end of the meal! 4/5 Overall we had a great time! We will be coming here again, and ordering the shrimp. If you like food flying at you, a bit of fun at your meal, and a fun atmosphere, this is a great place to come, kid friendly, and fun for a date!!

Went here with my room mates and their parents and we had an amazing time :D We all enjoyed the show, our chef was funny and catered to our every need. We all had the 2 for $35 special which got you a Habachi dinner (steak, shrimp, veggie, or chicken): started salad, mushroom soup (not miso), shrimp appetizer, rice (fried rice is recommended!), vegetables, meat, and cabbage/bean salad. I liked this place better than Beni Hana's (quality of food) although our waitress seemed really stressed out despite the half empty restaurant (on a Tuesday night) and wasn't very nice. Definitely had leftovers that were still good the next day too!

I just flew in for business and I must say Mizu offers incredible quality, service, and atmosphere for the price. I know there are many other choices out there for sushi and teppan-yaki but Mizu is exceptional. The sushi chef Jeff makes delectable works of art, and the Teppan-yaki chefs are playful and energetic. I encourage all who love sushi, and teppan-yaki to stop by and get hooked.

Well, this is a first for me. Writing a review while waiting to be served. 45 minutes ago we were told we would have to wait at our table 35 minutes before a cook would be available. Now 55 minutes later - no water, no drink order, no acknowledgment that we are even here. This place is too dingy and dirty to be so rude and inconsiderate. Syonara, butt holes.

So the service kinda sucked. We came in at 9pm Saturday so the place is empty. We were ready to order so my friends and I looked at the waitresses and they noticed that we were ready. But she just ignored us and walked away. Cool? Then we finally ordered. Then they forgot one plate of our order. Um. The menu had our writing on it with dry erase marker, how do you forget that? And there's nobody here? Anyways the food took awhile and finally came out. It was ok. The interior of this place is artsy but I suggest maybe training the waitresses some customer service skills. I also asked for tamago rolls and THEY HAVE IT ON THEIR MENU and the waitress said they don't have it. The fuck? Why is it on the menu then? She didn't have an answer to why they don't have it- she just walked away I'm sorry the only reason why they got 2 stars is because the food was decent. But I'm more about customer service and they lacked everything about it. Probably not returning here and don't recommend it.

I really like Mizu. But the Mizu in Gig Harbor is better than the Mizu by Southcenter. I think the food is the same, but the service isn't as good at this Mizu. It's worth going to the one in Gig Harbor. The fried rice is very good and the Filet. They have some new menu items like the Tuna and it's really good. I would recommend this place. I wish the service was better because it would be four stars!

The food was prepared with flare. The service was decent. The sushi was adequate. What makes this place great is the interaction at the table. If you want dinner with a show give this place a try. Though it felt like they were rushing us out. All in all a good dining experience.

Group of 8 of us went on a Sunday during dinner hours and there was no wait. We were seated immediately and the waitstaff were awesome. We all decided to have the hibachi chicken, steak, and tuna. I had the tuna (6oz) medium rare and it was awesome! Our tenpenyaki experience was great! The chef made it really enjoyable and he was very funny! Ask about the little boy figurine that they have on the cart! You'll love it! We were there for my brothers birthday and they gave him mochi ice cream which was delicious. Also keep in mind that they automatically add 18% gratuity to groups of 6 and more.

Well, this was quite a disappointing experience. We were actually crafting the Yelp review headlines as a group during diner. They were all along the lines of: "Don't come hungry." "Come here when you don't want to eat, don't want to have service, and .. just don't." It was a Friday night. We were a party of 8, and there were two other full tables, and a couple of couples. The restaurant was about 1/4 full. Two people in our group ordered sushi, because they were very hungry and didn't want to wait through the Hibachi show. They assumed sushi would be faster than steak. Fast forward an hour and a half... we've finished the show, mostly finished our food, and they still didn't get their sushi. We kept asking the server.. and she was saying that they are very busy... to which we kept looking around at the empty restaurant in bewilderment. At the end of the dinner, she finally switched the story to her chef going crazy, and she doesn't know what's wrong with him... and then she just started airing out all their dirty laundry. (She was visibly frustrated, and I don't blame her) We didn't mind, as at least that was more entertaining than the Hibachi show. In the end, no, they didn't get to eat at all. I saw a plate of sushi being brought over to the other party, and saw it being promptly sent back (as the rest of the party was in the middle of paying the bill). The server was nice enough in the end to actually apologize, and after our asking, took off the appetizers that these guys ordered. The best part about my dinner was the drink, which was delicious. Hibachi was just OK. But definitely not worth $40. And I felt terrible for the girl who was starving throughout. So... basically.... don't come here hungry. Better yet, just find another spot.

GAH!!! I coulda made all this in a frying pan. Face palm! Monkey do CHEFS CHOICE- NY Steak & Shrimp- good steak, oversalted shrimp Great big YELLOWTAIL COLLAR wasted due to overdone on one end and totally undercooked on other. Staff was friendly but looked like they were working with training wheels.

We made reservations online but there was no record of one when we arrived. But no worries, they were able to give us a table since we were not planning to have teppanyaki. The lighting continuously darkens and brightens so it's difficult to read the menu. They give you a sushi menu and a marker so you can mark how many of each item you want. The service was ok. Our items didn't all come out at the same time but that's ok since we were running out of room. The tables are surprisingly narrow, which also means no leg room :(. The pricing is comparable to the other sushi place in the area. The ventilation could be better, we left smelling like teppanyaki even though we didn't have it.

This was pretty disappointing. We got the angus' choice which included steak, chicken, and bowl of onion soup, salad, 2 shrimp (appetizer), hibachi vegetable and steamed rice. The portion was so small for the price and the food was just normal. I kept thinking i can make this at hime the whole time. I guess you are paying for the show which was not even that good. It was more awkward actually.

The show was a surprise. Completely unexpected! Happened to come here because a friend was treating. Tony is a great performer! He knows how to be flashy and amuses, but the food was overly salted... The shrimp, the fried rice, the grilled vegetables.. too much soy sauce and salt were put onto them. After asking for less salt, the chicken was salted minimally, but was at last, at the perfect sodium level for simple chicken. The steak was of good quality! But, tiny in amount (for 7 people). The best dishes had to be the Rainbow Tower appetizer and the ice cream dessert. The Rainbow Tower was beautiful to look at, perfectly seasoned, and the fish was fresh! The ice cream dessert had a good dump of whipped cream in the center, and a tasty and crunchy petal protecting the vanilla ice cream. Another small bowl of ice cream was left on the side. Very pricey for the entire dinner, but the quality of the meats and fish is good; though good enough to return? The atmosphere is good for families wanting to entertain their younger children with a fire show and a pricier than normal dinner, but not good for intimacy; the interior isn't tuned for an extravagant date with a significant other. There is a large parking lot; parking easy.

I love this place. It's super kid friendly. If you sit at a table where they cook in front of you it keeps the kids entertained, if you sit at a table for sushi they have TV's with each table! Food is always good. Service is usually great.

Being gluten free and being taken on a date here was rough. I was SHOCKED when they said they could make mine in the back kitchen without the sauces so I could eat too! They used separate clean pans so that my food wouldn't be contaminated with everyone else's on the grill. It came out just as the others got theirs. It exceeded my expectations for that alone. Especially being a Japanese place, it's hard to get gluten free. I was surprised and very happy, and they didn't treat me like an alien about it at all. It was good!

5 STARS for Tony and his food was pretty good and we left full. Remember to tip the cook, we handed him a $10 at the end of his show as he cleaned up and headed away. What I didn't really like was the fact we had to wait for the other group of people around the table to finish with appetizers before Tony even came out and cooked for us and I was starving and seriously almost ready to just get up and leave with my friend. If you want to leave this place full, remember to order extra items off the menu because it you like to leave a place on a full tummy it wont happen here. Cost isn't a big issue for me and I always order 2 sides of fried rice to go with my meal.

My husband, myself, our friends and one of our friend's wife (who is getting deployed next month) drove all the way from Tacoma (there is another location in Gig Harbor) because we literally love Tony's show and the way he seasons and cooks the food (I am 9 months pregnant so that plays a huge role when picking meals to eat). Prior to being seated (6 people total), I requested that we have Tony cook for us and I was told that requests were not taken... Um, really? If someone can identify who they want to cook for them AND they are available to cook for us then make the effort to get them to cook for us right? Simple customer service! But no! We waited about 15-20 minutes until a cook, who was NOT Tony came and began cooking for us. I think he probably muttered like 5 to 10 words during the show, mostly when he was making the fried rice (which is a rip at $3.50 extra per person and is not even all that). Disappointing. People go to this type of restaurant for a show AND for the food. We got the food and I got about 10 bite sized pieces of chicken. I looked over at all of my friends plates and they had wayyyyy more. I literally got the scraps after the cook gave food to everyone else. Then the check comes... These fools have the nerve to add 18% gratuity. Last I checked, it is AUTOMATICALLY added if there is 8+ in your group. I advised the server that I wanted to choose my own tip amount and she had the nerve to respond (instead of "ok, I'll take care of that for you") that a party of 8+ gets an automatic gratuity. My point exactly lady, we are 6! The two dudes at the other end of the table ARE NOT WITH US. Paid. We finally got out of there and my husband and I apologized to our friends as we had been there a few times previously and this was the MOST crappy experience ever. So review, don't make the drive from Tacoma to Tukwila; these clueless clowns don't know the definition of customer service. Two, the cooks at Gig Harbor put on a better show and make the food wayyyy more delicious. Three, the servers in Gig Harbor are in better moods AND smile (maybe because it is in a retirement community). Lastly, I am sure there are better hibachi places out there but unless it is Tony at the Tukwila location then it ain't worth it, you can get a more decent show in Gig Harbor. P.S. Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse in Federal Way is a great alternative to coming to the Tukwila location AND it's cheaper. Just saying.

Really nice ambiance for a sushi place in a strip mall - great music - and our booth in the bar played cartoons! Staff was super gracious and accommodating when we told them we had a flight out of SeaTac and had already ordered. Candy cane roll was a flavor delight - spicy salmon was excellent. Presentation was beautiful - all for a very decent price. Will return if we are in the area.

I took my son here as he had never before seen food cooked in front of him for entertainment. He is 3. He really enjoyed it and ooh'd and ah'd watching the fire and onion shooting flame. The place has high entertainment value for your first visit or if you are three. The food, however, is pretty disappointing. The fried rice was pretty bland, the beef in the yakisoba was tough and overcooked, and so was the chicken. We also ordered a spider roll, which was at best mediocre. Your money definitely goes towards the entertainment as everything way overpriced. My favorite thing about this place is the jellyfish tank. It's very cool, but unfortunately doesn't speak highly of this establishment's primary purpose as a restaurant.

First off.... If you only get an hour for lunch you can't eat at this place. They can and will make you sit there and wait as they hope more people will wonder in. I understand they want full tables but people don't have 40 minutes to sit their with their drinks while you hope someone walks in the door. The prices have increased since they first opened. That's understandable. The $3.50 to put an egg and soy sauce on rice is not. Maybe its because they use a stick of butter for fried rice to make sure the grease really gets in there. That must increase the cost $3. Otherwise the prices aren't crazy. $17 for steak and shrimp isn't too bad. Especially with the "Show" included. But a $70 tab for lunch for 2 is a little outrageous. Also this place no longer has separate prices for lunch and dinner. Everything is off the same menu. You are essentially paying dinner price for lunch. Back to the lunch service... the chefs hate serving lunch, that or they hate the people either way the attitude of the chefs for lunch VS dinner is night and day different. If you want good service and a good show, come for dinner. The food itself is far worse than I remember. I'm pretty sure its the stick of butter for every person rule. The vegetables were all grease, the shrimp had a nice layer of fat coating them and the steak was also cooked in butter. Some people like that grease taste, many don't. Don't ever confuse this with healthy food, they have more calories in their shrimp alone than a Big Mac. Add in the grease fried rice and vegetables that literally drip and I'm pretty sure this place beats the Cheesecake factory for chloric intake per meal. The good news is the Sushi is still edible and they don't even try to put butter on it. Shocking I know. So let me recap. From the time I entered to the door until the time I left was well over an hour and half. Unacceptable. The prices are far to high on most dishes including the 3000% markup on rice with soy sauce. The food itself taste like the inside of a McDonalds bag after sitting in the car for a week and the service made me regret walking in the door in the first place. 1 Star Because Yelp makes up give at least 1 and 1 Star for Sushi that is alright... 2 Stars sums it up pretty well.

Came in yesterday and the first thing she says "we're not serving Sushi" the main reason my husband wanted to go here. Little bummed. Well, I'm pregnant so I had to be careful of what I eat. The food was decent, nothing fancy or great. Very expensive! For the amount of food you get. The server/hostess was really busy drinks took awhile to come around cause she was the only one there, poor thing was running back and forth, cleaning, delivering rice, and drinks all by herself. Wasn't her fault we didn't have drinks management just needs to get more staff. We might try it again but with all the choices in the area we'll see.

Yum, I really like this place. The only downside is the price. They pretty much start at $26. If you want fried rice (which is excellent and way better than boring white rice) it'll set you back another $3. I had the chicken and steak. All meals come with a soup and salad. I like that you get to watch your food cooked in front if you. The chefs usually put on a good show. You get a lot of food for the price. Vegetables and cabbage also come with the meal. If you come here, be prepared to spend some $ on dinner.

I wasn't really expecting much because I've always passed by this place. After my favorite go-to sushi place failed to deliver any consistency with customer service and food quality, I decided to try this place out after I saw really appetizing photos on yelp and the good reviews. When I first walked in it was quiet, not a lot of volume, and I was greeted immediately. As I got seated and looked through the menu, I was really excited to try everything. The pricing was okay but when my sushi came out (I ordered the Las Vegas roll and yummy roll) I was really pleased. The proportions are pretty satisfying and the taste is even better. I've been trying really hard to find a place that does a deep fried eel roll that doesn't have any fins or bones in it and so far this place takes the lead. I'm excited to come here again to try more delicious dishes.

My Hubby ate Tepanyaki here before and he said it was alright but fun to watch the chef cooked food for you and a lil overpriced. I am craving for sushi and we decided to give it a try and it was a lil disappointing I should have waited for a long line at Miyabi because it was great there. We drove there and it was all packed with Friday night hungry folk so we came here instead. It was dead at the sushi bar no one s there and there s one Asian young sushi chef behind the bar. We ordered gyoza and combination tempura for appetizer . gyoza tasted like pre frozen from Costco but the tempura is the best thing for this dinner. It was not that great . Thick batter! I ordered the spider roll which was a fail the crab tasted like they have cooked it and let sit there for a while before it was made in to a roll for me . The other roll is spicy tuna inside with salmon on top and I could not remember . It was better than spider roll but salmon is not fresh. Sushi here are big and cheaper than Miyabi but quality did not come with quality. I ordered Blue Hawaii cocktail which come with lots of ice and a lil boost not worth $8 The only good thing is the service . Our waitress is nice. This place looks old and like a run down restaurant . It does not worth my money and I won't come back here

I arrived with a party of 4 at 9:15pm. They Close at 10:30. They told me there was only 1 chef and he was already busy with another table but they could make the food for us without the "show. " I should have left at that point. We all got the $29 chef special. The food was cold and flavorless. (I have been here before and usually love the food) I sent my food back to be reheated and it came back within 5 minutes and barely any hotter. Terrible service. Maybe it was just this once but overall terrible experience and will not go back because of it. the bill was about $150.00 and I almost refused to pay it.

This place is horrible!! I went there with a large group. We called before hand to make sure that it would be ok to have separate checks. We were told no problem. It took at least an hour for us to see our chef. They took our order, on the menu the entrees came with soup, salad, and your choice of white or fried rice. So I went to record the chef doing his thing. His totally snapped at me saying that it would it would be $10 if I wanted to record or take pictures. REALLY?? for the price we are paying for the dinner we can't record our take pictures!! So as the food was being cooked and being ready to being plated. The chef was literally throwing our food on our plates. I can name several Chinese restaurants that are way better and 1/2 the price!! After we were all done. We were told that we could not have separate checks as promised. It was finally worked out that they separated the checks, but they said they would NEVER do it again!! When my check came they charge me $3.50 extra for a tiny bit of fried rice that it said on the menu it came with your dinner. My whole group of 30 was unhappy. And we will never return.

I have been to this place numerous times and it was specifically yesterday where I couldn't believe the horrible service that we got first of all my boyfriend ordered a margarita they told him they didn't have any house tequila left so they had to charge him more firm I am more expensive tequila which that isn't our fault that you're out of your house tequila so there's no reason why we should have to pay for your mistake of not knowing how to do your inventory number two it took almost 30 minutes for us to get our food even started cooking on the grill we never got waited on for a second round of drinks while the server was talking to her friend the whole time . There was also another table next to us who had been there the whole entire time we had been never even got waters and didn't even get help until after we were done eating our meal my boyfriend complained and said that they didn't even get water in their whole entire table of 10 walked away because they didn't even get help. The only reason I'm giving them a two star for last night was because the guy who makes our food always remembers that my boyfriend likes his food a certain way if it wasn't for him then they would've got one star and we didn't even leave a tip.

This was a fun accidental find after an exhausting hardware store outing the yummy yummy roll was indeed yummy (but way to big to fit in my mouth!) and the banzai punch was quite tasty. For entrees, I got the tofu and veggies and my hubby got strip steak. We were both full and satisfied. The one major annoyance was that the chef pulled out a dirty rag to clean the grill with after our meal and when the rag hit the grill, I was hit in the face with dirty rag steam which was gross and ruined my palate just as I was starting my entree. Luckily, it passed quickly. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I'd just like to see the rag situation remedied!

The only reason this review is two stars is because the food was actually fairly good. We show up at 3:45 expecting to get in on lunch. The door says lunch is served until 4:30 which in my experienced with Japanese Steak Houses is plenty of time. We get show to the first table inside and all the menus are for dinner menus on the table instead of lunch. I ask if we can get a lunch menu, the Waitress says they start dinner at 4:00. What really grossed us out was that four tables still had dirty dishes sitting on them. Not a single one of these tables started being cleared until an HOUR later. At least three plates on our table had huge chunks of leftover food baked into it by the dishwasher. I scrapped mine off, but the two next to me.... I didn't mention it to the rest of the party because they were still going on about the dishes on the other tables. The Menu has seven types of Soju on it, a drink that I have come to love quite a bit and am always interested in trying it. They were out of all of them apparently. So a table of at least three drinkers all had only water. The waitress wasted a lot of time coming to get our meal order so we were not able to order until 4pm. The Miso and Salad came pretty quickly, but most everyone at the table didn't even bother because it was so unappetizing. The Miso soup was hot water with a few mushrooms and green onions thrown in. Not even a few drops of soy sauce to make it at least look like soup. I felt like I was sipping at a dirty dish rag. When we finished the soup and salad, it was cleared fairly quickly. Then we waited for a full 20 minutes before the chef came out!! During this time we watched four other parties of people walk out. The waitress never came by to even fill up waters during this time. Finally, at 4:35 the chef came out. From there the experience was much closer to what I expected, but that initial 45 minutes pretty much turned me off at this place. Too bad considering I love Japanese Steak Houses and travel to Seattle fairly often.

I've walked past this place a million times, wondered about it, never made any effort to go. We were trying to go to Miyabi for lunch but they had a power failure; change of plans. We got here a little before noon, the place was completely empty and dark and the staff seemed annoyed to have customers. We opted to sit in the bar area rather than a tepanyaki table which gave us a good view of the grouchy sushi chef yelling at the waitresses. On the other hand the bar is kind of cool in one of those 80's Japanese Yakuza movies way, with little Roku boxes installed at every table instead of Pachinko machines( we played Mah Johng). I ordered a couple of rolls and the beef lettuce wrap special only to hear the sushi chef yell at the waitress that the beef wasn't ready yet. Change of plans again to spider roll. The place won't win any awards for speed but they do make up for it in quality. I had a roll that was sort of like tuna poke stacked on sushi rice. My dining companion had several nigiri and everything was really really fresh. The place was unexpected and good.I'd probably come again to try the tepanyaki.

This is a nice little Japanese restaurant tucked away in the strip mall behind the Starbucks off Strander on the same side as Target. I put these references because it could be hard to see from the street. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the sounds of laughing and steak sizzling. On the left side there was a teppanyaki chef grilling steaks with a lunch group surrounding the bar/table. Looks like they were having fun and enjoying their lunch. I opted for the right side and headed to the sushi bar. It was empty on the sushi side so I enjoyed my lunch quietly while watching the game on the big screen. The menu is fairly extensive with a nice selection of specialty rolls. Since it was just me, I ordered some nigiri, the yummy, yummy roll and agedashi tofu. If you know me, i tend to rate my japanese restaurants by how they do their agedashi tofu. For me, big disappointment. It came out lukewarm and the tofu tasted rubbery. I also didn't like the agedashi tofu broth. In contrast, the sushi was very good! I'm in the area a lot for work so I'll probably return for the sushi and try out their teppanyaki next time. It looks like it might be a fun birthday lunch place.

Was attempting to have a sushi dinner. We walked in on Wednesday night and the place seemed reasonable although a clear Benihana knock off. The hostess led us to our table at which point she asked the man and his daughter already seated to move over for us. The man politely reminded her that his wife was joining so there would not be room. So the hostess told us to sit in the center of two seated parties. We are not small people. We asked if we could sit at one of the many open tables, sure, if we want to wait 45 minutes. We left and went to Dukes. It was lovely.

I was hype up about this place but I am very disappointed the food was bland. The chef was not friendly. The waitress are even worst. For the price I paid it was definitly not worth it. I am absolutely not going back to this place if you are looking for good food I recomend going to mizuki on the otherside way better and you get you money worth

This is all based on the service. I may have come here on a bad day but the server / hostess was not excited we were there. We were the only ones there so maybe we were bothering her. It took so long to get waters, menu and our bill. We literally had to hunt her down every time. I did like the interior. There's a TV in each booth so you can watch Netflix while eating. Probably not a great idea for a date but it's a cute concept.

I will never be back here! It was dirty and over priced! Not only have they raised the prices by $7 a meal from the last time I went which was less then a year ago but now they charge $3.50 for fried rice. The floor was dirty and looked like it never gets cleaned you could see dust and dirty on the baseboards

Largely I give this restaurant 4 starts because their sushi is top notch. I've been to the grill section and its fine but nothing special. But back to the sushi. Good choice of rolls. Both the unagi sauce and spicy mayo is good. They don't put too much rice. The quality of fish is good. The service is so-so and the atmosphere a bit quite.

We went here for my daughter's 13th Birthday. I was not impressed with our chef but the chef at another table seemed pretty awesome!! Unfortunately, ours was pretty quiet and just blah - totally not worth the $120 tab. They also forgot to do their Happy Birthday thing for our daughter so that sucked too. I thought this was a high price for the experience sort of thing - We won't be back, there wasn't enought of an 'experience' to justify the very high price.

Love this place, never a wait for lunch or dinner. Great portions, entertaining chefs. My oldest daughter gets sushi and loves it as well. Great for kids, no kids meals but we just order side of chicken side of fried rice, our kids won't eat the soup, salad, cabbage or veggie mix of mushroom onion and zucchini. Great drinks including saki.

We got seated quickly, and the waitress was on top of it. She made sure that we always had our drinks filled and didn't need anything. The cook on the other hand was mediocre at best for his "show" and the quality of food. He didn't know how to season the food properly. My son's steak was over seasoned while mine and the other guests barely had any seasoning.

We have been here numerous times. Any time out of town guests come we make sure and bring them here for dinner at least once. The food is amazing and you get a lot of it for the price. I love the steak and shrimp. The fried rice with A2 sauce is very scrumptious! We've had sushi a few times as well and have never been disappointed. All of the servers have been super friendly and the chefs put on a great show.

My fiancé and I went here because we thought we were just going to go to a little overpriced sushi place, little did we know it was a fricking hibachi grill!? We're not from the area and figured that because it was in a strip mall next to a Target that it wouldn't be so fancy, but... ok. Pleasant surprise. I love hibachi grills and know that they are notoriously expensive. This one was no exception. I had two cocktails, about $9 each, but they were pretty good. I had beef yakisoba noodles, and they were pretty good, but if I were to go again, I think I'd just get a full on meat dish. My fiancé had lobster, shrimp, and beef (I forgot what it was called, but it was some kind of special). While it was outrageously expensive ($40 for his meal), it was fantastic. The meat is cooked exceptionally well. The rice and other things that come with the meal weren't anything special. Personally, I think I make better fried rice, but it was still enjoyable. Oh, we also had sushi. We had a dragon roll. It was excellent. Their options for sushi are a little overwhelming because there's so many, but the dragon is good. The service was good. I can see how other people may have had problems with the wait staff, because they all seem very soft-spoken and shy. If you ask them questions, they get a little flustered. We asked what kind of whiskey they used for my fiancé's drink, and our waitress kind of flubbed her way through an "I don't know," but she found out for us and came back to let us know (it's Hibiki). I'm giving it 5 stars because I had a great time. The food and drinks were good, the wait staff was just fine, the cook was great, and I would go again. Maybe not anytime soon, because it's not sustainable to spend $140 every weekend on Japanese food, but... still good!

Not one of the better Japanese steak houses out there! We went for mother's day, yes it was busy and what we expected for wait time with no reservation that was okay. The atmosphere was typical hibachi surrounding with one major problem, the smoke! LOTS AND LOTS OF SMOKE! If it wasn't from all the cooking I would have assumed the place was on fire! Like maybe 1 of the vent hoods was actually working. We had an okay waitress, she didn't get any of our orders wrong however, it took 20 minutes for her to even come and take our drink orders! It took 10 minutes for her to bring us 3 waters and 2 milks! Then she didn't ask if we were ready to order she left us and came back 10 minutes later only after 3 more people were seated at our table and she took their drink orders! The chef was a good cook. He was as animated as others I have seen. He did a lot of slapping around the spatulas but no egg tricks or flipping around the shrimp, etc. He cooked the steaks and veggies perfectly. So in total they were just ok. Smokey air, poor service and lack of a show (which is why I go there) made this place just okay. I have also been to the one in Covington and it was the same except the smokey air, their vent hoods were working.

My daughter has been very insistent on trying this place so I finally gave in , We went there around 2:00 PM hoping to avoid the lunch time rush. The place was empty and we were seated around the grill with four other people. A bit awkward but my daughter was so excited to watch the chef cook our meal. I think that the experience is what you pay for , the food is nothing too special. We both had steak and it came with a bowl of onion type broth and some fried rice that didn't have much flavor and some cabbage and vegetables. The dipping sauces were really good but the overall flavor of the food was just OK. She wants to go back, even wants to take the family here but I just wasn't very impressed.

I'm a fan because of the sushi and the sushi chefs. Mainly the sushi chefs because they're extremely nice people. Every single roll I've tried has been superb. And every single time I ate at this spot, the sushi chefs would provide something "on the house." SUCH NICE PEOPLE. There's nothing better than fantastic service- well, except for delicious food. But it goes hand in hand with Mizu. Thank you. Much appreciated.

I am not bashing this place because I enjoy going to the Covington location every year for my birthday and really like everything about the place. But last night some friends and I wanted to get some sushi in a bar type atmosphere. I was really looking forward to the happy hour menu that is advertised on the website. We found a nice table right away in the bar. We were given a ratty happy menu after having to ask for it. It was 14 minutes from the time we sat down till the time we left. The server came by once to take our drink order, for which we were not ready. Still no water. Maybe they weren't thrilled we were there for the happy hour menu. I don't know.

I'm not really sure how this restaurant does on the weekends but when we visit for lunch during the week it's usually pretty quiet. We do eat lunch later than most people's lunch hour so that might have something to do with it but I've never seen this place packed. I wouldn't bother trying their sushi. If you're looking for sushi in Tukwila, go to Miyabi on Southcenter Parkway - a million times better!! The teppanyaki here is decent. They cook my steak to perfection every time. I could honestly do without the show and smelling like I've been in a kitchen when I return from lunch but you can ask them to prepare your meal in the kitchen rather than doing the whole show. It always seems a bit silly to put on a production when many times we're the only ones on that side of the restaurant. Try the fried rice with steak or the combo with steak and shrimp. They are fairly consistent in quality but the service is pretty slow. Getting refills on tea and/or water is also slow and when we're on the lookout for a quick lunch during work, slow just doesn't cut it. All in all, not bad but if they stepped up their service, I'll bet the restaurant would be more successful.

When I walk into a Japanese steakhouse for teppan-yaki the LAST thing that I expect is for a Mexican chef to walk out and cook our food. WHAT?!? Ok, that aside, the food was great. However, it did seem a little pricey for half a plate of rice,(Yes the other reviews are correct, they literally fill half of your plate with rice) some grilled veggies, and chicken (one of us had chicken, the other ordered steak). Even though the menu says "shrimp appetizer" that was literally 4 grilled shrimp...that the chef divided between the 2 of us! Yep, a 2 shrimp appetizer. I'd go here again simply because the food tasted good, but I wouldn't choose it as my "go-to" teppanyaki place.

Last time here and I mean it this time. If it wasn't because my younger boy wanting to come here, we would've gone somewhere else. The waitress/hostess was extremely rude, was unable to get seated right away because our party hasn't fully arrive (as if they were even busy! Psh! WHATEVER!) , and the one of the waitress (bitch) that originally spoke with us walked right past us and almost borderline slams the stack of menu with us standing right there! I used to frequent this place because I pitty them due to lack of business. Perhaps now they finally make a little money and no longer care about their customers. FYI: Mongolian Grill is few doors down and the food quality is probably the same, nothing good but satisfying at a fraction of the cost.

I am in the Kent area for work. I always check for reviews before I eat at a place... This place is great.. I had very good food and the service was great.. I went on a Sunday and it was not very busy. perhaps this makes a difference. I noticed somebody wrote that their food was cooked by a Mexican and that was a negative? I would really like to tell this person to go to Japan and try to find a Hibachi restaurant over there and pretty soon you will find that it does not exist. So what does it matter who cooks your food when it is good? This place has a nice atmosphere and great food... That is the only thing that matters! Also there is nothing better than going to a hibachi restaurant when you are alone and on the road... It is a great place to end up in a conversation with people since you are sharing a table with. It is not the cheapest place so if your budget is only $20 then do not go here because you will not be happy.... With $50 you will be more than satisfied! (that includes plenty of drinks)

First pot of tea wasn't hot. Miso was so so - I'd avoid it. Of albacore, hamachi, scallop, and Yellow Tail nigiri - Hamachi was best, Albacore was not so great. Of New York and Dragon Roll - the Dragon Roll was better. I remember this place being better.

TAKE-OUT REVIEW: Sushi and rolls were ok. Nothing spectacular, although pricey. This is not a Japanese-owned sushi restaurant, so that should pretty much explain it. WARNING: They asked me to tip on a take-out order. It was a Saturday night, and they were busy. I ordered 1/2 hour prior, and waiting another 20 minutes for my order. When they finally came with my order, I gave the my credit card, and they swiped it. I signed and returned it to her. The waitress (in her 40's or 50's) then says "You not give tip? Why not you give tip? Sushi chef work hard for you!" I was appalled that she would even ask me. Being one that avoids confrontation, I said....."uh....do take out orders normally give tips?" She said "yes." So I gave a 10% tip. She looked at it and still laughed. I was VERY upset and decided to share this experience on Yelp. I do not recommend ANYONE frequent this restaurant.

Love that soup starter, and of course, anything off the hibachi. The service was polite, and our table chef was great. Will have to investigate their sushi further, as the Unagi we ordered was suspiciously mild.

We went here yesterday for lunch. We got very confused when we entered. They said we could sit on the left and get the teppenyaki style, or sit on the right for sushi. Could we not get both??? Anyways, we said left and they sat us at the benihana style table. We ordered some of the 9.99 lunch specials. The cook came out and cooked our steak teppenyaki and yakisoba right in front of us (benihana). It was really fun to watch and interact with him. We were the only two at this station. He would draw smileys out of oil and play around with the food as he cooked. Almost worth it for the entertainment! But unfortunately after he cooked, cleaned and left, we at the food and couldn't help but realize how far short it fell. The cooking was the high point, not the food. The steak was good, but the fried rice and yakisoba just tasted fairly flavorless and overcooked. Also, the drinks were a little pricey. It was a fun experience, but we'd be hesitant to go back. For the entertainment, yes. For the food only, no. We never did find out if we could order meat and sushi, but they certainly didn't have any combo's. but we never asked...

I had a really good time and enjoyed the food. They do not give you a lot with the price but at least I finished my meal. :) The white sauce could be improved. I will go again because it was entertaining.

I've been here quite a few times and have gotten same thing which was Hibachi Steak. The fried rice was too salty because of too much soy sauce. The show was entertaining though and the steak tasted great. Also, the owner is a bit intimidating.

We came here because of the advertised happy hour and we wanted sushi. Unfortunately the happy hour only applied to certain appetizers. We ordered an appetizer described as deep fried tofu with special sauce and four sushi rolls. The appetizer came and turned out to be a soup... That's something they might want to mention in the description... The sushi was good. The service is why I'm giving two stars. Our water never got refilled, we tried flagging down a waitress multiple times for chopsticks and a coke refill, but she seemed to purposefully be avoiding eye contact. Although the sushi is good, southcenter has plenty of other places to go where I could at least get a refill on my water!

Food: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Organization: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Definitely wasn't expecting much when I walked into the restaurant since I'm pretty fickle about sushi. Granted, this review is about the sushi at Mizu's, considering how we couldn't order from Teppan. It was a pretty chill atmosphere, kind of empty when we were there though. The fish was a lot fresher than I expected it to be, also the special sushi rolls are actually cheaper than other restaurants I've gone to. About $12 for rolls that usually ranged from $18 to $24. Not saying that $12 for 8 pieces of sushi is cheap if you compare the cost of ingredients but never the less it's cheaper compared to other places. At one point, a waitress set down some fried salmon skin dish on our table, she was about to leave but I protested "We didn't or-" only to have her quickly, a maybe a bit too frantically, reply "Oh that's complimentary from the chef!" We were pleasantly surprised, then ten minutes later, another waitress put down what seemed like deep fried imitation crab cake. She says "Oh this is complimentary too!" My sister and I "oh!" in surprise and protest how it was unnecessary since we've order 80 dollars worth of sushi. The chef just waved and said "It's okay! I like you guys!" Probably because we DID order $80 dollars of sushi but they still didn't have to. But because of their waitresses inability to explain the sauces on the sushi dishes for us+leaving too fast before we could ask questions+slow on refilling the tea= 3 stars in service. But it's okay, the food is better. Eighty bucks for a two person meal is kind of pricey, but any other place would have been more expensive. Also they had more specialty rolls than other places. Shout out for the Godzilla & Trisha roll! HmmMmm

The service is good and the people are gracious/nice but the food is just so-so. Came here for a group lunch (second time... both times not my choice of restaurant). There is better teppen-yaki out there (Tokyo in Federal Way for one.) Also, not sure if it is just me, but there is a funky smell to this place when you walk in. Just sayin'.

Love love loved it! Food and service was FABULOUS! Went there with a group of 12 for my bday. I don't suggest going with more people than that unless you wanna be split up. I couldn't have picked a better place! The bday song & cake was Delish!!! I had the new york & shrimp and it was bomb! My hubby had the beef and it was seasoned beautifully! I also had the yummy yummy roll, california roll & spicy snowcrab roll and they were all really good!

This is a perfectly decent Japanese Steak House (I've not tried their sushi, so can't speak to it). It ends up being an extra charge for the fried rice (I think it was $6 more) and entrees are in the high teens or low twenties, so it's not a super cheap night out, but it's not terribly unreasonable. Your "shrimp appetizer" is two grilled shrimp. TWO. but whatever. Both the chicken and the steak that we had was decent, and the man next to us was raving over his filet mignon...but he was also 4 vodka tonics deep at that point, so take that for what it's worth. While we were waiting for our chef to arrive and cook our meal, I was watching the chef at a neighboring table. He was having an off night. He offered to toss a shrimp into the customer's mouth (a teenage boy, who seemed eager to catch it). And the shrimp just bounced off the kid's forehead (which entertained me greatly). After bouncing THREE MORE shrimp off of this kid's FACE, he gave up on him. A grown man at the other end of the table asked, and the chef tried twice but missed both times. He also missed the woman sitting next to them (in fact, the shrimp almost went down the front of her shirt but she caught it). He did finally get a shrimp into one of the guy's mouths, but sheesh. Honestly, he must've tossed about 10 shrimp around, none getting into anyone's mouths. I thought it was hysterical, especially when they'd bounce off of someone's FACE!! I was also relieved that our chef didn't offer to throw food at us, so we avoided that. :) There's enough food that there can be some leftovers (but mostly just rice and grilled onions). The two dipping sauces were decent, and they give you a ton of it.

I've been to Mizu's twice now both for teppan-yaki and continue to enjoy the atmosphere and the food. The fried rice is delicious. They exceeded my expectations...I mean I didn't expect much in a strip mall next to Target. Sure it's a Benihana's copy cat but the food is satisfying, you'll have plenty of leftovers which makes me feel better about spending $30 on my dinner so I give the Savvy stamp of approval!

My experience with this place seems to differ exponentially with other folks. I was introduced to this place via my wife who would sometime go here with her coworkers. Since she's a very picky customer, her recommendation is worth the visit. We would go here around lunch time, which, for us, means around 1-2pm. Not many customers are there. The hostesses and/or owner(?) were cordial and attentive. The food... I don't care very much for miso in general, but my wife doesn't have any problem with it. We usually get a couple Salmon Sashimis, and 4-5 rolls. They have a new chef now, Jeff, and he's very good, cordial, friendly. We get the Salmon belly for our Sashimi cut. Taste like a good filet mignon, with a creamy flavor reward. One of my favorite sushi place, NJoy Sushi provide a similar, if not better cut, of Salmon belly for a competitive price. The rolls were good once I figured about the right rolls for me. Here's a few that I can remember from a month ago; All Star, Yummy Yummy, Spider Roll, and I think the Dragon(?) Roll (if it has a potpourri of seafood on top of a roll, that's it). So, yeah, I don't have a problem with the place. The new chef is the key, I think, since before him, I was okay with the place. He has a special dish that he makes, the Jeff's Special, that I would recommend anyone to try. I hope he doesn't leave.

hmmmm, I wanted to like this place. service was ok, sushi was ok. the "calamari" is some sort of surimi that is pressed into rectangular logs. sorry, the tempura that covers it can't fool me. the happy hour half rolls are a joke. four tiny pieces. the booth tables are too small to actually fit any food on the table with the plates and drinks. the booth seats themselves are pretty worn. all the buttons that hold the vinyl down are busted off so the screws are poking you in the rear. we got seated at the door of the kitchen so I had to keep my elbow from getting slammed every time someone entered or exited the swinging door. on top of that, all I could smell/taste was bleach emanating from the kitchen. at least they keep the kitchen clean.

My husband and I went during peak lunch time (around noon) and we surprised to see only one person on the waitstaff. She was clearly confused and disorganized. We were moved from one table to another. Our chef was clumsy and lazy. He couldn't do any tricks right with the tools and acted like he was bored with the presentation. The table was too hot, so he burned the eggs in the very beginning. But he did not start over. In fact, he burned EVERYTHING and then tried to cover it up with loads of pepper and soy sauce. All I tasted was char and pepper. The other people at the table seemed unphased by this. One lady poured on her entire tray of ginger sauce, which looked more like soda syrup. The other couple had mentioned that they'd been here before, and they didn't seem disappointed with the lunch. They ate everything. I was more than disappointed with both the food and service. You'd better believe I'd never go back. Would NOT recommend.

This place is AWFUL!!!! We went for Saturday evening dinner with a party of nine and were seated pretty quickly. Once we were seated however, it took another 15 minutes before a waitress came over to take our orders. Everyone at the table ordered drinks and requested water. The drinks showed up 10 minutes later but the water we requested was overlooked. Asked the extremely rude waitress another two times before 3 of the 9 waters finally arrived. Other drinks were never refilled, nor were empty dished removed from the table. The "chef" we had stated that he'd only been employed there 3 days and the "show" he was supposed to put on was horrible. We all ended up with egg shells in our fried rice and the chicken that several people ordered was still raw. We were there to celebrate several birthdays in our group and after dinner the waitress asked if we wanted three birthday cakes. We said no, we were full and just plain weren't in the mood (being treated badly seems to do that!). Well, about 10 minutes later here she came with a cake - and a $10.50 charge added to our bill. The service was HORRIBLE. The waitress were snotty and rolled their eyes at us several times. Conveniently, they placed our orders on one bill and had a little hissy fit when we requested that they be separated by couples. Be aware that they add an 18% gratuity to the bill on parties of 6 or more. I can only assume this was why the service was so awful. Why should they work to keep customers happy? They're getting tipped anyway, right?! If you want a great Japanese steakhouse experience, I would suggest making the drive to Woodinville to Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. This place is great and the service is wonderful!

Met a small group of people here for dinner after the races. It was entertaining for a short bit....but after awhile having the cook there is a bit odd. Additionally waitresses seem a bit gruff. The food is well prepared with a lot of butter. It tastes good...my only complaint is that it gets cold quickly so you kind of have to eat it as its prepared.

Went here with friends for $10 Teppanyaki Lunch Special. Our table was full and the teppanyaki show was interesting, it was my first time seeing it so I enjoyed it. Food was good, the steak was tender. The fried rice was really good, and I enjoyed the grilled veggies. It was easy to get full fast, the portions were great, and the service was prompt and friendly. I would go here again.

The food was ok, not great. I've been here a few times and they are usually busy. Sitting at a table takes a bit longer then at the hibachi grill, in which you will have the company of 6 strangers. The Bar was the fastest but service was the worst. SOMEONE TAKE THESE DAMN PLATES AWAY PLEASE! It's not like I have a whole lot of room at a bar! Not to mention refills and trying to find a hostess to pay for the meal afterwards. I don't think I will go back. There are better alternatives.

I love Mizu. I've never had a bad meal here, whether on the steakhouse side or the sushi side. My husband and I come here when we want a special treat, and occasionally I land here on my own when I want the sushi bar experience without driving too far. Chef Mel-san at the sushi bar is fantastic, and will make you a fine meal. The last time I was in I struck up conversation with the others at the bar, only to find out that I was not the only repeat customer -- a very good sign. Another surprise; the man next to me was not only a repeat customer, he was from out of town, and made it a point to eat at Mizu's sushi bar every time he traveled to the Seattle area. What a recommendation! My only complaints are that the sushi bar closes early in the day between lunch and dinner (around 2pm, if I recall) -- I keep odd hours, so occasionally that is inconvenient for me -- and occasionally it can be difficult to catch a waitress's attention to get refills on water. Other than that, I can't complain about my (many) experiences here.

We've visited this place a couple of times, for some crazy reason I had a craving for it...anyways. Please don't go if you expect to simply just sit, order and receive your food. You walk in and either sit at a table with a few other people (not in your group) or you are first to sit down, regardless, you will be sitting with other people. Awkward conversations will occur or just ignore them, whatever floats your boat. The chef comes out, does their show and voila you got food. The food is okay, not great but its alright, definitely not worth the price for dinner. The hostesses were nice and the cooks were entertaining. I would recommend this place if you're looking for something new to try, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for it.

Been here twice in the past year, last time about a month ago and my experience here has been good and worth coming back. We were seated fast and didnt take long to get our meals started. Wait staff was pleasant. The cooks and the show and the prices are not any different than any other hibachi restaurant. The food is done just fine in my opinion. I've ordered filet mignon both times. Comes with soup and salad. I do wish it came with dessert as is often the case elsewhere. Since we don't have many of this type of restaurant around, this place does the job just fine. Haven't tried the sushi, so can't comment on it.

Not satisfied at all with the dinner we had last night. Why? 1. The soup was very tasteless I thought. I have had soups in other Japanese restaurants that were much, much better. 2. The salad was nothing more than iceberg lettuce with a slice of tomato on it drenched in their house dressing. 3. I ordered the scallops dinner and in the end they were overcooked. As you know, scallops just need to be seared for a minute or two on each side and what the cook did was leave them on the grill too long. Then at the end, he sliced them in half to give what I thought was the appearance of having twice as many scallops . I almost said something two or three times but I didn't. By the time the cook put the scallops on my plate they were done for. The first couple of bites were good but because they came off a hot 550 degree grill the rest of my scallops were still cooking on my plate. 4. The price. Too expensive for what we got. And they automatically include an 18% tip for the final bill. I'm not sure I like that. Yes, the presentation is fun to watch but after it is all done and finished I was very disappointed with the meal itself. You can do much better elsewhere.

Sometimes this place is great - sometimes it sucks. This is a largish restaurant near the Southcenter Target. Mostly it is a Benihana type restaurant but they have a small area near the bar for sushi. I've been here and had a fantastic experience - fresh fish, fast service, kind wait staff. I've also dined with less than fresh fish that seemed just to be thrown onto rice and with little care. Its hit or miss and pricey at that. Service can be hit or miss - but is usually good. The Benihana area part is very fun, but I've only been there once - usually only go for the sushi!

After storming out of Miyabi, decided to give Japanese dining another try in Tukwila. Mizu is a nice enough place; were seated quickly, food was pretty good (and lots of it), chef was engaging and pleasant while at the grill. The other folks seated at our grill were having a good time. Good experience, I'll definitely be back.

My review is for the sushi side of the restaurant, and for food only. I don't want to rate the atmosphere because it's not that great and it doesn't reflect the yumminess of the best sushi roll ever. I've never done the grill thing here. My husband and I love Mizu! We go here as much as we can. Most of the special rolls are delicious and the fish is always fresh and good. Wait staff is very friendly and the sushi chefs always seem proud of their food and creations. We overheard the sushi chef one night talking about how he's really particular about choosing fresh fish. That's the kind of conversation I like to overhear! One thing: get the Boss roll. It's by far the best roll I've had in the Seattle area. I had some favorites at other really popular places around Seattle, but this beats them all. It's a bit pricey but totally worth it and a huge roll. GET THE BOSS ROLL!! If you've tried this place once and weren't impressed, go again and get the boss roll. We like this place so much we ordered several platters of sushi for our wedding. Try everything, but get the boss roll every time. Shrimp, salmon, spicy tuna, fried crispies, cream cheese, avocado, and 2 sauces with just the right amount of spice. It's the best.

I have only been here once and it was for late lunch sushi at the sushi bar. My girlfriend and I were the only ones at the sushi bar and we had very personal service, of course, from the sushi chef. The sushi was VERY fresh tasting and the presentation was very nice. Afterward, the sushi chef presented us with a decorative orange for palate-cleansing; it was carved to look like a bear holding his tail and two skewers....very well done! I would definitely come here again for sushi.

Bad Customer Service!! I went here with my sister for lunch, we had to wait for at least 45 mins for our food. We were seated and then the waitress waited for other people to come so the table will be fill up before the chef will start cooking. DO NO GO HERE FOR LUNCH.

I eat at Mizu's at least once a week usually on the weekend or before going out on a Friday or Saturday night. I always eat at the sushi bar and I can tell you the chefs working there know what there doing, Very tasty sushi always fresh! I've gotten to know the staff on a first name basis and I absolutely feel like a rock star coming home when I walk in the door. The atmosphere is very pleasant and would be comfortable taking friends, business associates and dates to Mizu's. Great place!

This place is a OK Hibachi Grill. The food can be great most of the time. The sushi is just ok. I dont really get it anymore. It can be sticky, the fish that is and small. The sushi is also lacking any taste. There are some very good chefs there and some that should not be there at all. When I go there i expect to see the fancy moves and tricks no matter how nutty some of them are. That is part of what I am paying for. One time I went and the guy just cooked for us and left. I was RED! My kids were with and he did nothing. The MGR is very nice, the food is prices well. But just make sure the chef you get is all in. Come in a large group, that is the way to go to a place like this. And drink lots of sake!!

Take two on the talk with the ex-boy and yet we find another place we can't really 'talk' at. We started in Bellevue to find a place to eat. Everywhere we went was a 45 to 60 minute wait and I wasn't having it. I'm not sure how but we ended up here but we did. This is a Japanese steakhouse tucked away in the strip mall adjacent to the Target in Southcenter. I'd been here a few times I like the place for what it is. Think Benihana minus the smokiness and cheesy chain factor, add better food and you get Mizu's. We walk in and are seated right away at a table with a family of six, again not the best place to talk. Anyways the chefs are normally pretty good and interact with the customers only one time did I have a dud of a chef and I'm thinking he might have just had a bad day. You start your meal with a soup, it's not miso but it's good a chicken broth with green onions and mushrooms and next comes a salad which appears to be bagged lettuce mixed with carrots and cucumbers smothered in a ginger dressing, I'm not a big fan of the salad the dressing is too tart for me. You can pick either steamed or fried rice, I pay the extra and go for the fried plus that way you get to see the chef do the Japanese egg roll trick. They also cook up onions, zucchini and mushrooms making a volcano with the onions for everyone at the table to ooh and awe over. You pick what your main course will be, I normally go for the shrimp and scallop meal and am never disappointed the shrimp is always fresh and the scallops are cooked just right. This time I went with the chicken and it was a bit over cooked for me, I learned my lesson no more chicken stick with shrimp and scallops. If you are looking for a teppan-yaki dinner and are in the Southcenter area give them a try, they are open for both lunch and dinner and always busy but funny thing is I've never had to wait. Oh I almost forgot I have tried their sushi before which was fresh and delicious. I haven't had it in a while so I can't say what it's like now but over a year ago it was very good and fresh.

My fiance and I came here to celebrate our four year anniversary and I LOVED IT!!! I had the steak and shrimp hibachi dinner and my fiance had their chicken breast hibachi dinner. We spent about $50 for the both of us but I tipped $10 for the wonderful service. We dined with two other couples which gave us an opportunity to mingle while our dinner was being cooked. This place beats Benihana's anyday. Parking is super easy and free. Who can beat that?

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past month. Both times have been good experiences. My favorite is the Spicy Tuna roll...definitely high on the spice-o-meter; make sure you have a drink on the table first or you might find yourself eying the condensation on the glass of the sushi display case. Spider roll is another favorite...very good. All the dishes are plated nicely and the sushi chef even accommodated my friends request to add some additional roe on top of one of the dishes. Prices are reasonable, the restaurant is clean, and the service is good. I have only been to the sushi bar side of the restaurant, so I'm not sure about the hibachi side. Restaurant atmosphere is pretty typical for a strip mall location...nothing spectacular...but enjoyable. Location is great for a quick get away from shopping at the mall. Between the two of us we usually walk out [stuffed] under $40 dollar [including a couple of drinks apiece]. Not bad for a good sushi place that is convenient.

My husband and I have a sort of tradition of doing sushi for our anniversary dinner. Our first anniversary was spent up in Vancouver, Canada in an authentic sushi restaurant, but we couldn't do that for the next year, so we decided to go someplace more local and have our friends join us. We filled one teppanyaki style table with our guests (including one child) and ordered both sushi and teppanyaki for our meals. We also got some sake around the table for people to try. The service was good and the food was tasty. The sushi was fresh and well prepared. The staff was gracious and even helped accomodate for a somewhat picky kid - which made for a good time all around. The teppanyaki chef entertained us with the volcano trick, but didn't do much else showy or anything. Overall it was a good night spent with good food and friends. . . .just the way a celebration should go in my opinion. I hope to go back their again to experience more of what they have to offer.

I'm still wondering if this place is a Japanese owned restaurant. I was looking around for clues. You know when you eat at a so-called authentic pho restaurants and the owner has teriyaki on the menu? This is how I felt there and I will get to the bottom of it. The restaurant is separated into 2 sections teppanyaki to the left consuming over 75% of the space and to the right the sushi bar. I haven't gone there for the grill entertainment yet, since I don't believe in wasting food. Maybe I'll return to entertain a larger party, but back to the sushi bar, I've ordered sushi and sashimi. The quality of the fish on a scale of 1-5 is a 3/4. The sashimi selection is limited the common find. If you're looking for an exotic piece you won't find it here. They have a sizable sushi selection; however, this isn't the place to have aesthetically pleasing pieces. I found the cut too large and unappetizing and the rolls on the other hand were fine. The service is pretty good, a friendly staff, tea served, for water just make a request, and the bill took a while. The environment is inviting and the price is right. A source just txt that the owner is not Japanese...

ok, this place used to be pretty good and i used to be impressed, but the last time i came here, it was just ok. it's like a benihana, you don't come here for the food, you come here for the show. the cook was freindly and entertained us with his speed and humor and showmanship. however, it was my birthday dinner and out of all my friends that came, he forgot to put some shrimp on my meal when i ordered steak and shrimp. with that, the food was good, but nothing special, it's basically stir fry on a flat top grill. when it came time for the cake, i remembered they brought out a great ice cream cake before, so i ordered it. turns out, they cut costs and brought out fried ice cream instead. it was good, but it was nothing special and was difficult to split amongst our 8 guests, had it been the cake they used to have, everyone would have had at least a decent bite of cake. the service was aloof, our server didn't refill our glasses. the ambiance is nice, dim and contemporary. anyways, i was disappointed, and i probably won't come here again, for the prices are high and they cut the quantity of portions and the quality of the meal. should you come here, skip the show and go to the sushi bar during happy hour time, much more worth it, large sushi rolls, good quality, a tad bit pricey.

Pros + Came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday night and was seated immediately with no reservations at all. + Server was nice and attentive + Teppanyaki chef was really funny and entertaining! + Everyone enjoyed their experience Cons - They add 18% gratuity to parties of 6 or more - Menu prices are a little high compared to other japanese steakhouses - Chicken was kinda dry Overall good experience. Plus, I always enjoy watching people catch shrimp in their mouth... LOL...

Mizu doesn't understand vegetarians. When told I was a vegetarian, the waitress replied with, "So you don't eat meat?" No, I do not eat meat. "You just don't like meat?" No, I do not eat meat. I understand it's a bit weird to go to a hibachi/teppanyaki steak house as a vegetarian, but my aunt requested it for her birthday. $16 for the vegetable delight with tofu? Slightly ridiculous because it's just the bigger portion of the vegetables you get as part of any set dinner and a few pieces of deep fried tofu. This is a missed opportunity -- Larger hibachi-grilled tofu pieces marinated in any of their marinades would be delicious! Overall, Mizu is not bad, but definitely not great. The waitress was very sweet to give my aunt free dessert and led us in song to wish her happy birthday.
