Tacky decor, mediocre food at best, strange service. The decor really speaks for itself. I mean they are trying sooo hard to be a club, and it really just looks like a child who puts on ever piece of jewelry and uses all the colors of makeup when playing dress up. It's gaudy and overdone. I feel like I took a trip to New Jersey. Also the logo is everywhere... The food was extremely disappointing. We shared a som tum thai salad that generally I love but this had tons of dried shrimp (not mentioned in the menu description of the dish). It pretty much overpowered any of the other favors the dish may have had. It also came with a whole wedge of cabbage that proved to be impossible to cut up with a fork. The Tom ka was decent, the broth had a good amount of flavor, though the giant pieces of tofu was kind of obnoxious. I got the heavenly coriander dish as my entree. It was very, very sweet. Like teriyaki sauce sweet. And I am not sure if there was any coriander in it. My partner could not detect any coriander flavor either. If I liked teriyaki sauce I probably would have enjoyed this dish. My partner got the rack of lamb. The lamb while notedly well cooked, was covered it what was supposed to be a tamarind black pepper sauce. What it was in reality was syrup with very little additional favors. I am not sure how much tamarind went into it, but I am pretty safe to say it was at least 90% sugar syrup. Tamarind on lamb sounds good, mrs. Butterworth's not so much. As for the service, it was interesting. Everyone in the restaurant was seated in the same corner leaving well over half the restaurant unseated. Either the waiter was hovering over us or non existent. Also the hostess began assembling place setting right next to our table even though there was a whole empty half of the restaurant she could have set up at. This was a Saturday night at 8:00. Also we were charged $4.00 for two sides of rice. I just think that rice should be part of a meal. And the fact that I could buy an entire bag of rice for the price that I can get a cup of cooked rice is kind of obnoxious, but I understand it is a weird Seattle thing. However we need to break the cycle, it's dumb.

I have had better Thai food on the airplane heading to Thailand. I have never written a review for a restaurant before because I was never disappointed enough to spend the time. This food totally sucked. The business that occupied the space before did a really good job. This new cluby "concept" restaurant forgot to include decent food in their business plan. The Tom Kha tasted like they used instant soup mix. ..in fact all of the food tasted as if it were prepared or made with pre-packaged spice mixes. This crap might fly with stoned Fremont hippies....but if you know your Thai food I'd go elsewhere.

I've only eaten here once so I don't speak for everything, but I ordered pad thai take out, and I don't think the noodles were quite done. However, it was very flavorful so it was edible.

Fresh, lots of flavor, great service, decent prices, clean and hip -- good to see a Thai place taking pride in their food and service as so many others have been in decline lately. Highly recommend their tea list, noodle dishes, mango sticky rice -- really everything we tried was great!

My roommate and I stopped in after passing it on our way home and talking about wanting Thai food. Today was their first day open for business and it did not disappoint. The wait staff was friendly, ready to recommend dishes, attentive, and the food came out quickly from the kitchen. They definitely exceeded the expectations for a new restaurant. We ordered the fresh rolls with prawns with a peanut dipping sauce, the pad kee Mao (wide rice noodles stir fried in a spicy sauce, which came with chicken and vegetables), and neau noom gra ta ton (aged marinated beef stir fried in special sauce on a sizzling plate). The portions were generous and this was enough food for two people. We got everything 2/5 for spiciness. It had a good amount of heat without being overwhelming. Everything was cooked well and we definitely can't wait to try more things on their menu. They also have some great sounding cocktails that our server said have all the components made in house. We spent about $35 on the three dishes, which was great for the upscale atmosphere the restaurant and menu provided. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a unique Thai experience (the menu has many familiar dishes with a twist) with a great ambience!

Excellent on all fronts. Good food. Great service. Happy we found this gem. We will be returning.

Just finished some better than ordinary Thai food. Yes they are a little pricey, and if you order rice you better not plan on sharing. We are talking very small portions! I will definitely eat here again....maybe tomorrow

The food was good and authentic. Be a little adventurous and try something new because we were pleasantly surprised.

In my opinion best Thai around! Thai Tom has nothing on zapp. I am a celiac and they gladly made gluten free substitutions on the dish I ordered.

5 stars! This place us THE one. Ambience, lightning, music everything. Only been here at night cause i like it better, but this place plays the best music. I love everything about it. Come here now.

The main bartender is great. The rest of the service is extremely poor and slow. Since the reopening I've tried them five times, but the food and service is just no longer there. I won't be going back. I really wanted it to work, but it doesn't.

AMAZING attentive service! We were here, about a week after it opened, for Happy Hour on a Friday. Drinks were wonderful and the bartender was lovely. $5 mixed drinks (we ordered a lemongrass and a cucumber). Som tam - Green papaya salad; shrimp fresh rolls; and 2 noodle dishes. Good food. Menu is a bit intimidating; large and in Thai. But, the photos are a blessing. I love being able to see what I am ordering. Will definitely come back to try more thing on the menu.

I think they've done a really good job with the remodel from when it was Tawon. It's hip and it looks like a bar. I would only complain that the music was a bit smooth jazzy which seems out of place. Pad See Ewe was excellent and just as my husband remembered it. I ordered my favorite Tom Yum Noodle Soup and found that the recipe had changed. I liked the old version better, but it was a good enough experience to go back. They have a good selection of beers on tap.

The spring rolls are stale, and there is nothing in them. The sauce for the rolls are also bad. The calamaries cannot be squid, I am certain that they are intestines. I am regretting not having sent the dish back. The seafood curry was a bowl of mush with no real seafood in it, really terrible. Again regretting not sending it back. We were entertaining friend there and were really embarrassed.

wouldnt come back. i ordered cashew chicken and pad thai as a combo, they both came with a ton of oyster sauce all over. waaaaaaay too sweet. sent it back to the kitchen and got pad see ewe instead. it was okay, definitely better than the oyster sauce food but not the best. also had the satay as an app that was actually really good. but you gotta serve decent pad thai if you're opening a thai restaurant, come on. also three stars was not spicy to me, very mild.

Very Good Thai Food!! ZapVerr was our second choice for the evening, we were going to try the Turkish restaurant but was kind of crowded. ZapVerr was just around the corner. We had never been before and we were pleasantly surprised. We live in Fremont and have eaten at all the other thai restaurants and I have to say this was by far the best! Great food and Great service! we will be going back for sure!

    (5)
  • Rebecca C.

Friendly staff but they got our order wrong and made the Pad Thai too spicy, I had them take it back and the new dish they brought me tasted like they dumped out half the noodles and added new noodles and no sauce, it had no taste and was very dry. The soup we had was delicious though, wish they had gotten my order right the first time.

I work in Fremont and have eaten at pretty much every restaurant. I used to love Tawon Thai and was hoping Zapverr was just a facelift for Tawon, but sadly it's not the same at all. The food was bad, just plain bad. It was bland and not spicy at all (even though I asked for 5star). There are so many other good places to eat in Fremont, too bad Zapverr isn't one of them. Go to Jai Thai across the street, it's way better if you're in the mood for Thai.

I've been going there almost weekly since they opened, and everything (food, service, atmosphere, price) has been consistently outstanding. The food is made fresh and perfectly executed. They specialize in north-eastern cuisine (and I highly encourage you to try their specialties), that said the more "regular" items on the menu are also delicious. They serve street-food style skewers which are more difficult to come by... try to moo ping or the e-sarn sausage. I'd also recommend any of their spicy papaya salads or issan entrees. I've sent Thai friends there and they all loved it. Now about the staff: I don't think they could be any nicer and friendlier. Zapverr is the kind of place from which you leave happy no matter how grumpy you were when you showed up. They are also professional and know the food very well: every single one of their recommendations has been a home run so far. They have been great at accommodating my husband's peanut allergy - never had any issue in the 10+ times we've eaten there. The atmosphere is great, the place looks like one of those trendy restaurants you'll see in Bangkok or Phuket. Very nicely and elegantly done. Lastly, their prices are very reasonable. It is so nice to finally have a place to eat in Fremont that is neither a burger hangout for bros or a super expensive restaurant where you spend 100 bucks for 3 small plates. I love you Zapverr!

This place is owned by the niece of the owners of Tawon Thai, which was the previous restaurant in this space. She redesigned the interior and it is absolutely beautiful and very hip. They have a nice variety of lunch specials, but the menus are difficult to read where there is red text on a black background. The server didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink which was odd. Lunch comes with a starter soup which was similar to what is served at other Thai restaurants. I ordered a Pad Thai and curry lunch special and when the server asked how many stars I said medium and ended up with no spice added to my meal. That was a little disappointing. The plate was warm, but my food obviously sat on the counter for a while. I didn't have time to deal with sending it back, but might have had we been there for dinner. My companions enjoyed their meals. This is close to my office so I'll likely be back, but it doesn't live up to Tawon Thai.

Ordered ZapVerr food last night from a food delivery app. My husband and I had: Fresh Rolls (Yummy!), Tom Kha Soup with Tofu (ordered medium spicy and it was delicious, but more spicy than I was expecting!), Pad See Ewe with tofu (this tofu was fried and I thought a bit dry, but the dish overall was quite good), Red Curry (Yum!), & Jasmine Rice. Overall, I really like the food, have NO idea what the restaurant is like though. My food was delivered fast-- within 40 minutes of sending my order (not sure if that was ZapVerr or Eat 24), hot & appropriately packaged. I would definitely order from them again! Thank you!

Awesome, I will get take-out from here again. I really liked the crispy garlic chicken.

  • Missa M.

Had dinner delivered, and it's possibly the best delivery meal I've ever had. I'm not a Thai specialist, but I know well cooked food when I taste it. It's more expensive than other Thai delivery places, but you get what you pay for. Good portions of incredibly delicious food. Crispy garlic chicken was the highlight of my order. If you're willing to splurge a little, this place is great.

  • Z H.

Fantastic decor and ambiance, slightly pricey for the food. I've had Thai food I liked just as much as this other places, but ZapVerr is unarguably trendier than anywhere else. The service was good and I enjoyed the food, but nothing blew me away.

  • Lon K.

Yummm! Fun decor, attentive smiling service, very tasty food, reasonable prices! I had a well crafted lemon drop martini, crispy spring rolls and chicken pad see ew that was nicely spiced and punctuated with al dente bok choy. I'll definitely be back!

  • Eric W.

Great atmosphere, service, and food! I've tried a variety of the foods and drinks and they're all great with nice presentation. I like how there's a lot of choices/variety on the menu with reasonable prices to more expensive for fancier dishes.

The food at ZapVerr is fantastic! The different flavors in the dishes are great and keep me coming back for more. The service is amazing. I have been here a few times and every time I am so impressed by the level of service we receive. No matter who your server is you will have at least 2 or 3 other people coming to check on you throughout your meal. I have two small children and they are super kid friendly. They bring kid friendly plates, utensils and cups. The atmosphere is also very fun. This is our new favorite Thai place!

I was looking for great Thai delivery and unfortunately did not find it here. To start, my order took an hour and forty-five minutes to arrive. I completely understand busy nights but there was no indication that it would take that long and I had to call after an hour and a half to find out the status of my food. Shortly after I called the restaurant I received a call from the delivery driver saying he was "stuck in traffic" and would be there shortly. It was 8pm on a Saturday so I'm not exactly sure what traffic he was in. Once the food arrived it was cold and I had to reheat it. Reheating the food turned it tough and dried out. I was extremely disappointed because of the good yelp reviews I read prior and would like to think this was just an isolated bad experience. That being said the poor service and unremarkable food are cause to explore another restaurant before I would ever try this place again.

I win the reward for making the right choice and of course it was after reading yelp and choosing the highly voted crispy garlic chicken and you know I'll take that to go please! This chicken is hard to make and they have brought it to perfection. We got pad Tai which smelling and tasted delicious. Padsecwe Grilled shrimp with asparagus was quoted as "mind-blowingly orgasmic" otherwise knowing as asparagus prawns. The grilled pork balls was joke of the table which got a little dirty. Haha.. On the healthier side we got the Tom kkah tai soup which was not my style. If you enjoy coconut milk soup then you'll like it. I didn't find it tasty, but that doesn't matter because the whole table loved it. Blanket prongs and fresh Rolls with tofu were a good starter. The plum sauce was better than the peanut sauce, I even ordered a second one. The waiter understood my non English English and spoke my Russian. Very well done.

A few months ago, we were shocked at how much the waiter did NOT listen to us. We came in. We took our jackets off, we asked for water. That took some time to arrive. There was only 1 other person in the restaurant. The waiter did not listen. We ordered to EAT IN. We were also specific about what we wanted to eat. We were so excited. It was our first time eating here. Too bad ... The young man brought our food in TO GO brown bags. We were shocked and told him that was NOT what we asked for. Further, we asked specifically for seasonings and little extra fish sauce & chili paste. That was missing. We left. One of the waiters ran after us and asked if we paid. I replied "We ate nothing so we don't need to pay." We won't go here again. We will recommend NONE of our friends to go here.

Takeout review. I've eaten here before and dined at the restaurant. That experience was really good. Would say a 4.5 star. Amazing food. Great decor. Decent service. However, I got take out the other day and I was just appalled by the difference in quality. Like legit I thought I ordered from the wrong place. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ewe were horrible. No flavor, noodles all stuck together, no sauce, not that great portions. Really really disappointed by the take out. Never getting take out here again. Rather go to Djanns where the quality is the same for dining in and taking out.

  • Chris P.

Easily one of the three top Thai places I've been. And I've hit a few in my time. The service was quick, friendly, and very attentive. I gave only 4 stars because it's my first time here and I'd like to taste more. I think a time or two back here will yield a solid 5 in no time. The "Golden Noodle" and "Pineapple Fried Rice" are worth the stop here alone. I'm looking forward to coming back and really sinking my teeth into more items on the menu. They have great looking stuff!

This place was the bomb. I went to dance class just a block away and we wanted to come here everyday. The breaded chicken was crunchy and just amazing. You have to get the Thai tea smoothie. My pad Thai was really good. We ordered several appetizers and they were a hit... The sauces for dipping were amazing. I've thing that was not amazing was the mushroom soup with lemon grass....I didn't like it. I had that all the time at a restaurant at home and this one lacks a lot of flavor but I'll come back again to order the other stuff. The shrimp rolls and meat balls were really good. The service is fast and friendly too.

Great garlic chicken! Most of the other food I've tried has been very tasty. It's even called tasty beef. The spring rolls and fresh rolls aren't extremely exciting, but I can't recall a place that's had some that will blow your mind.

This is my new favorite spot for Thai food in Fremont. The service was great, the curries are delicious, the decor is hip, and the prices are low. Love it!

I've seen this place pop-up somewhat recently in Fremont and never tried it until now. I was having a pad thai craving and decided to try a new Thai place, after previously trying only Thai Tom and another Thai place (who's name I don't quite remember). To be honest, I was expecting some kind of half-baked Thai food that tasted somewhat okay since the decor made me feel like it catered to yuppies. All the places that I've been to so far that have catered to yuppies have been pretty in decor, pricey in everything, and not that great. However, everything I ordered was great. The pad thai I ordered was wonderful. It was not oily at all, tasted great, and a massive portion. I had to take some of it home. Their thai tea was on point too. The mango sundae I got for dessert was a good way to end the night. It had 2 scoops of thai tea ice cream, one scoop of coconut ice cream, and fresh mangos, with 2 chocolate eggroll cookies for decoration. I've had problems with Thai places using too much spice (not talking about spiciness here, but more of spices) and oil and giving me an upset stomach after, but ZapVerr didn't which is a HUGE plus in my book. Overall, service was great, food was great, and the general ambience was awesome too. You have a returning customer that will definitely be back :)

  • Yuchi C.

Highly recommend eating there, food tastes so much better! Kow Soi was awesome, thick coconut broth with thin egg noodle. Pad Thai and Crab pad Thai were much better eat in thAn take out. Yum, lots of crab meat and fried soft shell crab. Tom Kah soup: yum yum yum!!!! E-sarn sausage: rice and pork fat in the casing, pretty delicious. Thai papaya salad with salted egg: all favors worked harmoniously together, so good. Laotian papaya salad with pickled crab: too much fish sauce for my taste, but it's pretty authentic. Service is very good, they pay attention to details and recommended something else to avoid repeat orders.

I've only gone here a few times, but I have had a great time each visit. Went there recently for happy hour and karaoke, and have to say it's really fun here. Great drink specials and happy hour food specials - in particular I liked the Neau Dad Deaw. Karaoke at a Thai place is a little different, though, as there are always 2 mics circulating in the crowd. Ended up singing an involuntary duet with a guy I don't know, which might be taboo for an American like me, but it seems pretty normal here. Not the place for an uptight karaoke purist, if you sing "what's going on" by 4 Non-Blondes, stay away from this place. Better yet, don't sing that piece of crap song at any karaoke place, showoff.

Hello new favorite place! Thanks for bringing all my isan/esaan favorites to Seattle!! Zapverr made me happy! They have all the northern classics plus traditional Thai dishes. The place is set up like a lounge/club type. I like the dark atmosphere with all the bright lights. It's casual yet upscale. Ambiance- beautiful Service - attentive Food- spot on! It took us about 10 minutes to decide what to order because of the varieties they have on the menu. But once you break it down, it's pretty simple. They have esaan style street food like meat skewers, sausages, nam priks and such. If you've been to Chiang Mai or are familiar with the cuisine, you know can pretty much get these dishes all over Chiang Mai. I've had them on the streets of Chiang Mai and it was a love at first bite. The spice, the freshness, the taste of that little extra lime, peppers, charredness: totally made my tastebuds sing! Food ***Grilled pork skewers with chilli lime sauce- delish! Juicy, soft, charred, melts in your mouth. Serve with chilli lime sauce. Tasty!! *** Esaan sausage : tasty. Serve with fresh peppers, cabbage, lettuce, peanuts and like pieces. You can wrap them(fixins) all in one or enjoy it by itself. ** Kai nok kra na nok--Quail eggs!!!!!!!! Zomg quail eggs grilled in this little pan. This was my Obsession in Thailand!! Mainly because it's like the cheapest street food but with the coolest way to make. You get to see the ladies crack a few dozen quail eggs into this massive pan with little cubes in it. 1 mins later--- viola!! You get a dozen grilled quail eggs for $1! They were magic!!! Now zapverr has it $9 for 6 I believe. Not as cheap or cool as you would in Bangkok or but I still appreciate finding this item on the menu. Totally! ** larb gai - I'm obsessed with Thai salads. This is one of them. We got their larb with chicken. Nice and spicy! ***Nam prik- spicy fish paste with all the fixins and BBQ pork. Great spice kick to eat with drinks. And very local to Chiang Mai. **Som tom poo pla? They have a whole page of papaya salads for you to choose from. I went with the crab! Yummm. **Tom kha- house special soup with shrimp. This was good but much smaller for what you pay. And a little too strong for my taste buds. Too much salt/fish sauce maybe. **Steamed tilapia - this was good! Could use a little more lime. We also had this dish with raw shrimps and chilli sauce on top. Try it if you feel adventurous. I like it! Overall, I had all the dishes I would have in Thailand. And they were all spot on! I skipped rice and noodles but they all look pretty good. Portions might be on a little smaller side but I had so much left overs as well. Prices are around $12-17 for entrees and $8-14 for appetizers/ salad. It won't be a cheap meal if you want to try them all!! Good flavors, bold flavors, good service and cute atmosphere. I would suggest more lights on the table so you can read the menu but overall, you got my vote Zapverr!! Can't wait to come back!!

Nothing bad about this place. Great food, good presentation, kick ass decor (does it become a night club at some point? - it could), staff was quick at refilling my water. Would've liked the option to get separate checks for lunch though.

Stopped by for an early dinner today, and was really happy with what I saw (and tasted)! I like what they've done with the space. I loved Tawon Thai's beef salad, but the new restaurant seems more... alive. I wasn't in the mood for a cocktail or a beer (even though my friend's cocktail did look good), so I ordered a glass of their Rose. I can't describe it in detail, but do know that I enjoyed sipping it and felt quite tipsy for the next couple of hours. We decided to get a few dishes to share, and ended up choosing the: fresh rolls (shrimp), pork skewers, beef salad, and mango with sticky rice. Everything was delicious! Next time I hope to also try the squid salad. I didn't get a chance to interact with the employees much because I arrived late and didn't do much of the ordering (rare!), but everyone seemed nice and happy to be there. Looking forward to returning and trying some of their seafood dishes...

They say you can judge a Thai place by their Pad Thai. ZapVerr's is nothing to text home about. It's fine, there's nothing wrong with it, but it's basic. What I would text home about is the Pad See Ew. Actually, forget texting home. I raced home, the next day, for my leftovers. The pineapple fried rice was also very good. Delivery was speedy (faster than predicted on the Eat24 confirmation) and polite. Overall, Yay! I'm a fan. I won't be able to resist coming back for more of that Pad See Ew!

I really wish we were able to enjoy our food from ZapVerr. It was well flavored and appropriately made. But it was delivered to us cold. Which made sense after it took almost 1 hour and 45 minutes to be delivered. When we contacted the restaurant over an hour into our wait they told us the food was ready and would be delivered within 15 minutes. I live 7 blocks away and it still took a half hour. It was a pretty pricey meal for the portions, but since the flavors were good I will probably try their happy hour at some point. Just avoid delivery at all costs.

This used to be my all time favorite restaurant - Taiwon Thai. When I found out it sold to someone else, I was really disappointed. Regardless, we still decided to give them a try. The food was eh, nothing too special. My boyfriend actually didn't prefer it at all. With so many other Thai options in Fremont, I wouldn't put this place in my list of favorites. Kind of bummed since I used to love the food!

Absolutely love ZapVerr! They have a huge menu that can be tailored to vegans (basil fried rice!) and meat eaters so everyone is happy. You can also modify your spice level. We hit them up for takeout every few weeks and everything is consistently delicious and ready super fast. The service in restaurant can be a bit slow at times, but all of the servers are very pleasant and patient with order modifications. Also, it was the place to be during Solstice weekend this year, great drink and food specials! Looking forward to my next visit...

A fantastic new addition to Fremont! I've been here a few times and each time, I love this place even more! Then menu is pretty large for a Thai place, there are tons of choices, really, tons! And within those choices you can choose beef, chicken, pork, seafood, tofu...so the options are endless!!! And in typical Thai style, you can have it as spicy (or not at all) as you want. We've had siam wings, tom kha, crying tiger salad, pad see ewe (seafood and tofu), neau dad deaw, panang curry, thai fried rice, Pad puk boong fai dang. All the dishes we had were delicious! Their pad see ewe is one of the best we've ever had!! And the pad puk boong fai dang is probably my favorite dish of all! It is stir fried on choy (aka swamp grass, kang kong, water spinach), and is salty, the on choy was cooked perfectly well, it still had a crisp to it. We have found our new favorite Thai spot! And service was great! We noticed that service was a team effort! We did not have one server, but all of them! I don't know how they kept it all straight, but they did! FYI: HH 3pm-6pm everyday and Friday-Saturday 10pm-close. HH is only at the bar.

This place was great. I think it is one of the best thai food places I have been to (if not the best). I really really wish I remember the noodle dish I had, it was a seafood noodle dish that had wide rice noodles, kinda like a pad see ew. The flavors were just so good and the portion was great! Jeez I mean the weird champagne drink I ordered was super good too. The waitress was very friendly also. They have Karaoke there too. Ugh it was just so good.

  • Don W.

Worst Thai, I have ever had. I think the waitress purposely gave us bad food. They tried to clean/close dining room and bar, as it was kinda rude, and too early by about three hours. As an architect, I was impressed by the decor, but they obviously spent more on that, than their spoiled waitress. Such a great city we live in, thank goodness for such better other options. My wife and I got sick afterwards.

While our server was pleasant and very helpful when we were ordering some new dishes and some of their specialty cocktails our experience was soiled by another patron. A gentleman was over-served (likely prior to his arrival) and then served by the bartender. He was loud and interrupted our meal repeatedly and the bartender (and other servers) didn't put a stop to it. It was uncomfortable for our table, especially our guest who doesn't speak English and was being harassed by the drunk gentleman for being the only male at a table of females. I wrote a note to the restaurant through their website after the experience, because I thought management should be aware and train their staff on how to handle a situation like this. I received no response. I've seen this same gentleman since that experience at another restaurant in the neighborhood (Pecado Bueno) where he was ushered out by staff without a scene. The 2 stars are because their happy hour is priced right, at a convenient time, the food tasted great and they have great cocktails. It's just too hard to come back from that experience in the restaurant and then to not get a response after trying to provide some constrictive criticism on a pretty serious customer faux pas. Too many good thai options in Seattle and Fremont to go back to ZapVerr.

I have been here before and it was excellent ... In fact I brought friends and family from out of town to this restaurant because of how impressed I was. Unfortunately, This particular trip was just embarrassing. To start things off, I really enjoyed my Crab Rangoon appetizer. It was prepared perfect and was super tasty. Everything after that was down hill from there. We received our meals and my pad see ewe was extremely burned. Like absolutely charred. Unfortunately dropping the food off was the last time I saw my server. Was starving tho so I braved it and went for it. Had to get up to go find someone twice during my meal.. This was pretty frustrating. I was a server for many years so totally un-acceptable. First time was to find a spice rack to cover up my black charred flavor profile. Second I had to go find someone to just get refills on my water. Come on guys... The thing however that was completely over the top was the following event. Im guessing the kitchen burned someone else's meal because a nice black smoke emerged from the kitchen and smoked out the restaurant. So they open the front doors of the place to "air it out". By the end of my meal I was using our newborn babies extra blankets just to keep family members warm enough to finish their meal. I really liked this place last time I was here but the combination of poor service, poor food preparation and the poor atmosphere has got me questioning a return. I would like a response from management

We were sad to see Tawon Thai go! Luckily this newly remodeled spot was reopened by the owner's niece and the quality is still there! It's also surprisingly modern and hip. It now has this super lounge-y vibe. The staff was still really nice though. This is one of the only Thai places we've been to that really turns up the heat. If you ask for 5 stars spicy, be warned! You're gonna be sweating for sure and going through iced water like nothing. I was even struggling with 4 stars. That's a definite positive as some places don't know how to spice things up. We ordered the Phad Thai, Phad See Ew, and a few of their appetizers. Both noodle dishes were great! Just as we remembered. The Grilled Pork Neck Salad is an amazing starter. We were really impressed, probably one of the best things on the menu. The chicken wings were solid too! Overall, ZapVerr doesn't skip a beat! We were sad about Tawon Thai, but ZapVerr is now the go to whenever we're in the area!

I've been transported back to Thailand!! Excellent northern Thai food. Zapverr means 'overly delicious' in Thai and the food is indeed delicious! The restaurant is striving to keep the dishes as authentic as possible and not cater to Americanized tastes and oh how I appreciate that! The food is on the spicy side (just like in Thailand) so if you have a hard time with spicy, do request 1 or 2 stars spice level and they will try their best to accommodate. We ordered the following: Som tam kai kem. Green papaya salad with dried shrimps and salted egg. Loved!! Portion size is good, too. This is, by nature, a spicy salad so it may be tough for the chef to tone it down because he/she makes it like how it's served in Thailand. That's what makes it so good. Pla todd zapp lui suan. Fried whole fish with spicy lime dressing and fresh herbs. Crispy and yummy. Pad puk boong fai dang. Stir fried water spinach (otherwise known as on choy or kangkung). This is one of my favorite vegetables and they made this dish right. A nice mild accompaniment to the other dishes. At $8, this dish is very reasonable. Now I know pad Thai is not an Isaan dish so this is not their specialty but we ordered it anyway. It was good but I would not come here for the pad thai. I prefer the pad Thai at Mai Thaiku. However, this does not deter from how great Zapverr is in any way. It was my fault for ordering pad Thai at a Northern Thai restaurant. Kang kiew wah pla grai. Homemade fish cakes in green curry. Very tasty and I like how they use those little round Thai eggplants. They don't have a dessert menu at the moment. We had tup tim krob. Water chestnuts with syrup and coconut milk. A popular Thai dessert seen in the markets. It was refreshing. They also have khanom tuay (coconut milk pudding) and the standard mango with sticky rice. Will have to try those next time! So stuffed. The wait staff were really nice. Our main waitress was very sweet and reminded me of the warmth and gentleness of the Thai people. She said that everyone who works there is from Thailand with the exception of the bartender. Now, I'm not super down with the atmosphere. It's quite night club-y, with house music playing. I guess I don't associate northern Thailand with a sleek bar scene but perhaps I need to expand my mind! In any case, I will definitely go back for the delicious and authentic food. I love that the menu is so extensive. I can go back many times and not eat the same dishes! Parking is a bit tight in that part of Fremont so plan ahead.

Seattle's third Isan/Chiang Mai restaurant (that I know of), after Pestle Rock and Som Tam. This funky, spicy cuisine is a welcome change from the familiar coconut-based curries and noodle stir fries of every other Thai place in town. Som Tam brings a small selection of Isan dishes to starving college kids in the U District, at starving college kid prices (alongside the usual Thai restaurant staples). Pestle Rock is a mid-priced sit-down restaurant in Ballard, with a sensible menu of classic Isan dishes. Zapverr bills itself as a 'restaurant and lounge', with low-key lighting, a full bar, and a massive menu of over a hundred dishes. My guess is they are partly modeled on Andy Ricker's (the Pok Pok guy) Whiskey Soda Lounge in Portland -- a large part of the menu is devoted to street eats and 'kap klaem' ('drinking food'), i.e. salty deep-fried spicy things. Most of the Isan classics are here. A whole page of som tam (sour papaya salad) variations, and another page of non-som-tam salads. Isan-style grilled meats, Chiang Mai sausage, dad deaw (Thai jerkies), tom sab ('delicious soup') -- all accounted for. The only surprising omission was Khao Soi -- you've still got to go to Pestle Rock for that. (Unless I missed it, which is entirely possible with a menu this big). The menu also has some more familiar dishes (phad whatever), and a 'healthy section' consisting, strangely, mostly of deep-fried fish dishes. Healthy for the soul, I guess. I got the Chiang Mai set -- listed as an entree, but really an assortment of snack foods served with nam prik noom (a moderately spicy chile dipping sauce). It came with a Chiang Mai sausage (sai ua), fried pork rinds, some steamed vegetables, sliced ginger (good with the sausage), and dried red chiles and peanuts (which I sprinkled on the bowl of rice I ordered to round out the meal). The cocktail list didn't look particularly appealing (too many drinks with the suffix 'tini'), so I washed it down with a cold Singha, the official beverage of fried spicy Thai food. They also have microbrews on tap, and a wine list. I was a little dubious when I saw the length of the menu: how do you keep quality high and wait times low when your kitchen has to be able to cook a hundred things at a moment's notice? But everything I ate was competently executed, if not quite as wow-inducing as Pestle Rock. There are lots of interesting dishes to try here. Most entrees are in the $10-$16 range, and you'll probably want a side-order of sticky or steamed rice as well.

Yes!! Another Northern Thai place in Seattle (there are only a handful). The menu here is larger than Pestle Rock, but still delicious. I like the chicken wings better at Pestle Rock, but the other items here are delicious. Location is also great, in central Fremont. Staff are incredibly friendly. I've only been there once so far, but ZapVerr will be another regular spot for me.

Saturday was our day to just hang out and check out a few new spots. We decided to get a drink from here and figure out our next course of action for the next few hours before it was time to head to our dinner spot. Apparently, this place has been open for 3 months and is therefore new to the area. The decor is so cute with bright colors and modern artistry. We got there around 3 which is happy hour time. One tip is that the bartendar gets there at 3:30 so you can only order beer from the happy hour drink menu until 3:30 when the bartendar shows up. Not much of a problem but we don't really drink beer. The happy hour consists of wings ($6), pad thai ($6), crab rangoon ($5) and some other Thai specialties. The drinks are various martinis and thai inspired collections ranging from $5 to $8. Not bad. After much debate, we ordered the crab rangoon and a beef dish (Deuw dan duew???)which was pretty good. The smells from the open kitchen were just so enticing but we didn't want to spoil our dinner so we held off. The bartendar arrived on time and was so sweet. We really enjoyed his great personality and comments on his best dishes at the restaurant. We were only going to spend about an hour there and ended up staying about 3 hours. Whew. Those drinks were good.

I celebrated my birthday last night at ZapVerr and am extremely happy how well everything went! I had been in touch with Kay ahead of time to make a reservation for 25+ people. Communicating with her via their Facebook page worked really well. We had a great time and the waiters took great care of us!! They kept track of all our separate orders really well and were attentive. I also very much enjoyed the birthday ice cream. My friends and I had great food and drinks and enjoyed the environment very much, complete with lovely flowers on the tables. Thanks for a great birthday, ZapVerr!!

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today (Sat) and were disappointed. The menu has 4 pages of lunch items. We ordered two of the $8.95 lunch items which come with soup of the day and rice. Unfortunately on Saturday, these items cost $10.95 and do not include either soup or rice. My husband ordered Ginger Pork and I ordered Tasty Beef. He wanted no flames, I wanted 2 flames. We both got no flames and I am pretty sure he got chicken rather than pork. Both dishes were cold and the meats were tough and bland. We ordered beer right away but didn't get that until we told the man who brought our entrees that we had ordered beer but hadn't gotten them yet. The beers were good and so were the mushrooms, but that was all.

This place by far is my Favorite Pad Thai place ever. I've been 4 times already in less than one month and a half :P My bf and I had the Beef, Pineapple rice and Pad Thai and all were mega delicious!! Totally worth your time and money! Desserts can be a little more better but once you end up eating you are so full that desert doesn't make the count.

dinner food: crab phad thai and the sampler. the sampler was great to try everything. most of it was ried, but thats the way i like it. i dont know how they make the money bags so round and tight, but that was good. the phad thai was great too. the soft shell was crispy on top and you can find chunks of dungeness crab meat in the noodles. ***4/5 service: the orders were fairly quick. waters were filled when needed. it was easy to grab somebodys attention. ***4/5 ambiance: very modern place in fremont. i was impressed by the decor. very modern and contemporary. ***5/5 value: considering we ordered crab, which is always a bit expensive, it wasnt that bad. we split the two orders with two people and there was more than enough food. ***4/5

First time there, hostess took a while to greet us. Server came by after 12 min. Bad attitude, didn't care at all about us. The worst was when we mention that the salad with calamari didn't taste that good, they just brought our check before we asked. Horrible experience! Never coming back . Do not order calamari salad

The noodle dishes are best in my opinion cause it has a great sauce. The spice here is super spicy - true Asian spice haha a 2 star here is like a 4 star at another restaurant. Employees are super nice as well and very knowledgeable about the food, origins of the food and they really have great service. It is quite the fancy restaurant. I can't explain the taste, it's just so unique. So go judge for yourself, your taste buds aren't mine!

Good ambience, very well designed restaurant but food is below average. Had the duck curry ordered a 5 Star spice tasted more like a one star. The fish cakes had no salt. Better Thai Food than the ones you find at the mall food court but not by much.

Cool decor and atmosphere. Ordered the pad kee Mao with soft tofu lunch special. Level 4 spicy. Opening my cute little box to eat the dish looked yummy. However the meal was quite bland. Not even a level 1 of spiciness. Then to make matters worse I bit into some hard and pointy. I was what looked like a metal twisty. Pic posted. What a disappointing meal.

I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews. I love it. I've been in for drinks and just recently went for dinner. Every time I've been in it hasn't been too busy, so we've gotten great service. Food is good, I've never really had bad Thai food. Menu is huge and they label all the vegetarian option (and gluten free options) which is nice when I'm doing vegan diets. The place itself is cute for a lounge and the location is great. Thumbs up for this place.

I absolutely love this place. Upon entering you are immediately taken by the stunning decor and ambience. But that's just the beginning. The authentic taste of north eastern Thai will not disappoint. I have been to Thaiku in greenwood and this place makes me forget about it completely. I will be coming back here for dinner and happy hour.

If I had never eaten Thai at Pok Pok in Portland this place would have received 5 stars - the bar has been substantially raised and I hope to find a Thai restaurant similar in Seattle. That being said ZapVerr is very, very good. My wife and I decided to give this place a try after a visit to the Fremont market. Nothing in the food truck area caught our eye and we had been looking for a reason to try ZapVerr. The Dungeness Crab Pad Thai was very good, using real Dungy and fresh ingredients. Fast and friendly service. Interesting ambiance that is not typically of Thai restaurants in Seattle.

Super friendly service, good eats. I went over the lunch hour and was not expecting it to feel like more of a club type atmosphere. It is definitely a "wow" ambiance with dim lights and modern decor. You get a free mini bowl of soup as an appetizer. Ordered the khao soi and it was served with thin rice noodles vs. the flat egg noodles that I was expecting but the flavor was still good. Instead of fried shallots it is some type of fried noodle on top. I would go back for lunch again but probably not for dinner.

This place is awesome! Service, food, and ambiance. It's nice to have a place you can get a little dressed up for. Perfect location in Fremont to go out afterwards for drinks. As soon as we got there we were seated and our waitress was very attentive and it was nice to see the owner (at least I think he was or maybe the manager. He was the only one not dressed in black) going around the restaurant and asking how we were doing and liking things. We ordered a bottle of wine and the bartender came over to open it for us and even helped is pick dishes from the menu. He was very nice and personable. The food was awesome!!!! Great portions to eat family style and be able to try different dishes without spending a fortune. Everything came out hot, delicious, and eye appealing. The look of the restaurant along with the attentiveness of the staff made gave the experience more quality. It's not your typical Thai restaurant when you just go for the food. Come here, NOW!!

This is a new restaurant in "The Center of the Universe," Fremont. Decor is modern and slick, dimly lit. Music was a poppy (One Direction when we got on per my compatriot, I'm more of a blues/reggae guy) despite the rainy day. The place was surprisingly empty when we got there. I'm new to Seattle (from Boston) and I heard people take to things slowly around here. The service was quick and friendly. Our two servers were helpful and not over bearing, with big smiles on their faces and some good healthy jokes all around. The food came out quickly. It was fast, hot, and TASTY! Good prices. As a bonus, our server loved us and gave us 10% off for a neighborhood discount. We will DEFINITELY go back for strong drinks and good thai food!!!!

Isaan thai food (pronounced e-saan) from the northern part of Thailand. Pork skewers are to die for, get them now! Swanky lounge great for happy hour. Nice modern interior and decor makes for a good date night. Great menu variety. Excellent service like wow. Wonderful addition to the current Fremont thai food scene. Will return.

PLEASE READ: THIS IS AN ISAAN STYLE THAI RESTAURANT. So before going there please do your research about Isaan food and order accordingly. Order their papaya salad, order their grilled beef or pork neck salad, order their crab fried rice, order their BBQ chicken order all the grilled appetizer. Or ask your server what kind of Isaan food do they recommend. The food is really good here coming from someone who's Thai and it hurts my eyes to read people complaining about how this restaurant is not as good as other thai restaurant down the street. Yes I know! You won't go to McDonald's and ask for fried chicken and complain it's not as good as KFC! It's not their specialty! Don't order pad Khe Mao (drunken noodles) or pad thai or fried rice (unless it's crab fried rice to eat as a side dish to other stirred fried dishes!) yes you are a master at thai food because you eat one dish at every thai restaurant around town. How about try a specialty thai dish that thai people like to order and that these people are good at?! Okay, enough rant. I think the decor is nice but I was there for the food. I was very happy with my dishes expect maybe Penang wasn't spicy enough compare to my papaya salad which I asked for a 3 stars. We asked for sticky rice as we always do when eating papaya salad and BBQ chicken but we DID NOT know that there's no rice with Penang dish. To Zapverr, people cannot eat curry or stirred fry without rice! I get that you want to charge $2 for it which is fine but to not see rice with your dishes is a bad feeling. Portions are huge here! I suggest do what we did, if you want papaya salad and BBQ chicken (the whole chicken it's a lot of food) just order another main course. 3 dishes between 2 people is enough! Servers are super friendly and very attentive from hostess to waitress to bar staff! The cocktails are great too! Had their Mojito and sangria (very sweet, doesn't taste like any fresh juice white sangria, they add guava juice). Great thai beer selection as well as Lucky Buddha! Very good light beer and a cool bottle! Oh and they have something called Tiger shot. It's a herb infused vodka (traditionally made with moonshine!) it's not for the faint hearted. Very strong and woodsy! But so much fun to try as an after dinner drink if you're staying awhile. Why not their drinks are pretty cheap compare to most places that scale! Highly recommended! Try this place as something more hip and fun compare to other thai restaurants around!

Upon entering, it's easy to be impressed by the interior design. It's beautiful! Pros: -Nice decor/ambiance -My server was very friendly and genuinely nice -my fried rice was really good Cons: -No little trashes in the women's restroom stalls (were they designed by a man?) -The main trash can in both restrooms are far away from the door. I hope everyone uses a paper towel to open the door -- but then you have to throw it in to the trash. -The Seafood dish was just various marine animals swimming in red sauce. No rice or anything. -Finally, the reason I won't be back: My husband order a dish with prawns. I'm allergic to prawns, so I told my server this. She said not to worry, as our entrees will not be on the same plate. NO SHIT. I told her that the concern was with food handling and she just looked confused. I insisted that she tell the kitchen that I had a crustacean allergy and she reluctantly agreed to do so. I didn't feel very assured that my food wasn't going to be cross-contaminated and really felt like I was rolling the dice when I ate my food. Not a happy feeling. Normally I'd avoid restaurants that serve crustaceans but thought that a new restaurant with a well-trained staff could handle this. Zapverr cannot. Would not recommend.

When my Thai friends told me about this place, I was excited! Well.....disappointed. Nice concept, not very well execution. Yes, the restaurant is beautiful. That is about it. My husband ordered Chiangmai dish. Numprick noom , which suppose to be spicy, were kinda bland. Sai Ou sausage was pretty tasty. He gave it 3 stars. I ordered Somtum with salted egg. It was ok. There was only 1/6 of an egg in my dish. I asked the waitress and she said that's all it comes with. !!!. When I ordered sticky rice, the waitress asked me how spicy??? Cleary she's Thai but how spicy for sticky rice?!! Com'on. They were playing hiphop/rap music the whole time we were having lunch. It's confusing overall concept I think, with authentic Isaan style food in the modern looking restaurant with hiphop playing quite loud! You know what I mean. Too bad. I really want to like it.

Summary: I want to give it a 4.5. Food: Delicious food. Had the Sweet and Sour Pork (2*) and Green Chicken Curry (2*) with Jasmine rice. So often S&S is an overly sugary and toxic substance, this was spot on yummy. Was more a 1* than a 2*, but flavor was perfect. The curry was also a very nice flavor, the aftertaste being the best part. I waited a long while at the end of my meal to eat my mint for a didn't want to ruin the lasting flavor. Service: This is what forced my hand to a 4. The service was only okay. The effort was there, the quality wasn't. Value: Not cheap, but a fair price for quality food and decent portions. Location: Convenient if you're in the neighborhood, although no parking nearby. Inside, however, is beautiful and a very upscale feel. Some of the art seemed a little bit out of place, but that's only noticed when really paying attention. The ambiance is what made the meal. Comments: Likely the place I'll go when next I want good thai food.

Food is really good. But the reason I give 2 stars coz the service it's really bad. Since we sit down to eat until we paid for food no one refill water for us. Even 3 server walk pass so often but no one look at our table!!! For soda refill my sister have to call server all the time!!!

The one star reflects that I would never, ever eat here again, that I found it repulsive, even tho I could eat it. Cost: The portion size almost corresponded with the cost: noodle yes, soup no (for general seattle prices at other prime locations), the fish cakes cost was almost on par, but they were awful. $33 for Tai for two for undesirable food wasn't 2 out of 5 stars. $9.99 Fish Cakes Appetizer - had the texture of a smooth, flat meatball - sort of like a chocolate chip cookie from the freezer isle. It tasted almost like nothing inside and had the texture of incredibly processed food. Never actually had a bad fish cake before. we could only eat 2 and my husband had 1 or 2. $9.95 Tom Yum soup - Chicken. The ratio of broth to the ingredients was completely wrong. Much more broth to food ratio compared to everywhere else. The chicken was clearly cooked in coconut milk. Kinda defeats the desire of getting a non-coconut based soup. It was nice that the chicken were in pretty thin pieces but there were mostly too big for my mouth. $10.95 Pad See Ewe - this was the least bad dish we ordered. The flavor was really good and the vegetables were nice, the ratio of food to noodles was good. BUT, to me the noodles had the texture of steam and butter. Tasted like the noodles were over cooked and then "fixed." My husband couldn't deal with the fish cakes either, but he was happy with this dish. I wasn't. Women have far too low calories to expend daily if you eat more than one meal a day on a day you get restaurant food. So a really high fat noodle dish better be good -- like good enough that you would give it another try.

Wow, DON"T BOTHER. Very bland food, was delivered cold. After a $50 dollar order I called to add a small rice, you would think they would throw it in but they get to the door and want $3.00 for what was exactly one half cup of cold rice. There are way better places in Seattle. These people are just pure greedy and the food is just so so. The other negative comments on here are spot on.

My wife is from Thailand and in fact from Isaan, the region of most of Zapverr's dishes. I love spicy food, but needless to say she eats about 100 degrees spicier than I can handle. We stumbled upon Zapverr randomly after getting a sandwich at Paseo. Impulsively deciding an Isaan-Cuban fusion would be interesting, we asked the staff if they'd allow us to bring in our Paseo sandwiches if we'd order there as well. The staff was very friendly and said it's no problem at all. Cool. The restaurant looked cool and had a loungy atmosphere. We sat down and noticed the menu looked very authentic (not just pad Thais and curries as with most 'fusion' places) and they have a large variety of dishes. We ordered a couple of dishes (spicy som tum, spicy chili bamboo pork and spring rolls and satay for the foreigner (me)). All dishes were great. The som tum and pork were actually spicy (so much it made my wife sweat) and authentic as you would eat them in a place in Isaan. The portions were large and certainly not priced high for the quality of the food. Bonus learning: Isaan food pairs quite well with Cuban food :-)

Well I started this experience off with getting one of the street parking spots practically right in front of the restaurant. Score one! I had seen this place from the outside a bunch of times and it looks just like what you might expect from a swanky new Thai restaurant. First off it is daaaaaaaark in there. Second they use an obscene amount of red in the decor, which I generally like but..... whoa. The wait and bar staff were very friendly and engaging. I ordered the red curry with bamboo shoots red pepper, basil, and prawns (tails off) which I did ask for very hot. What I received was mild at best but it did have a lot of flavor. It tasted quite good. I almost forgot about my appetizer they were called "money bags". I didn't consider them at first as the menu says they were made with minced pork (I don't eat pork). Our waitress did let us know that it was a typo and that they were indeed made from chicken. Cool. They tasted pretty good kinda like little pot pies with wonton wrappers. They also came with some kind of sweet dipping sauce. Good not great. One thing I can't stand about some of the Thai restaurants that I go to is the extra charge for rice. This place is no different. Overall a pleasant experience but nothing special. ***Jasmine *** Jasmine ordered the panaang curry with sour cream but felt like it was just middle of the road.

phad thai with dungeness crab and soft shell crab. O YES! i thought this was the stand out dish out of everything we ordered. also tried the panang curry, chix skewers, and a bamboo salad. the cocktails/ martini were also delish! will def come back to try some of the other interesting items on the menu

This place is great! I have really never gotten a bad dish. The food is delicious, although it is much smaller portions for a slightly higher price than most of the other thai places in Fremont. My favorite dishes are the crispy garlic chicken (best I have ever had), the cashew chicken, and the spicy eggplant. All delicious.

3.5 actually but that's not an option and can't really give 4. Haven't actually been to the restaurant yet so take this review strictly for delivery. Some things we have really liked, some were just ok/we wouldn't order again. We've ordered 4 or 5 times so have had a variety. Green curry with chicken was delicious the first time, second time chicken was a bit overcooked so tougher and chewy and sauce although same spice level requested as first time was totally different. Appetizer sampler is delicious and they give you three different sauces for the various items. Brown rice is perfect. Cucumber salad is ok but I would rather order it from quite a few other thai places instead, very fresh but just not that flavorful to me... We will try it again but if a bust then maybe not after that

Everything from the food to the atmosphere to the service was impeccable. Definitely an intimidating menu but the staff are super friendly and will answer any questions you have. My husband always orders chicken Pad Thai at every Thai restaurant we go to but it wasn't on their menu. We asked what would be similar and they made the BEST chicken Pad Thai we've ever had. We will definitely be coming back here for Happy Hour (3-6) as the prices look great and they have late night Karaoke! So glad this place came to Fremont!

Disappointed with you guys tonight. Called a take-out order in at 6:40pm and I call at 8:15p to check the status and you "apparently " have no record of it! I find that odd considering she repeated it back to me, gave me a total and told me how long it would be, which was 40 minutes! I hate to say this but you lost me and my boyfriend as a customer. The fact that you didn't even apologize and your answer was we are " super busy" that is poor taste to your guests.

Awesome happy hour. I love the crab rangoons & the chicken pad thai. The karaoke is super fun as well. Service was a little slow but it might have just been a busy night. Still worth the selection & tasty happy hour stuff :)

2 stars for the insulting nickle and diming!!! Otherwise, I would have given them a 5. We started out excited to try this new Thai restaurant in Fremont. The food was delicious and the decor and ambiance was great. But then... we got our bill and our happy mood quickly turned sour. Be warned, they nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING without warning which my friends and I find totally off-putting. They charged me a crazy $3 extra for a teeny tiny serving dish of peanut sauce for my 3 year old and $2 for an extra little dish of rice. That's fine if they asked me if that was OK first but they didn't! Then, to really put a damper on our lunch, for our party of 5 which comprised of 3 adults and 2 toddlers they expected to get away with tacking on an outrageous 18% gratuity to our bill. Our server was rude to us when we asked her about that charge. So we asked to speak with the manager who was very understanding and empathetic. He apologized for our unhappiness, removed the 18% gratuity, and gave the three of us 20% discount coupons for our next visit. Thing is, after this experience, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere where I'm treated like a special guest than just a walking and talking dollar sign.

Summary: The food was FANTASTIC, the service needs improvement, the decor is striking, and the overall experience was positive. We both agreed that we would be happy to return to ZapVerr but might not go out of our way to seek it out again. The food was really outstanding. The panang curry and basil stir-fry were some of the best we've had in Seattle. I don't know what else to say. It was SO GOOD. Food: 5 stars! The decor and ambiance felt a bit out of place for Seattle, and especially for Fremont. The first thing I thought when we walked in was that it was reminiscent of a Las Vegas restaurant or bar. It's really striking and beautiful in its own way, but it's kind of over the top for the location. Decor: 5 stars for Vegas, 3 stars for Seattle! The service was... perplexing and amateurish and vaguely offensive. We were enthusiastically greeted at the door and shown to our table, where we were told that this is the owner's fourth restaurant. When the party at the table next to us were seated, they got the exact same spiel about ZapVerr being the owner's fourth restaurant. Why was this information necessary? I'm still trying to figure that one out. It felt very forced and arbitrary. Our order was taken promptly, and our drinks, appetizers, and entrees came out relatively quickly. (Again, the food was exceptional!) Once our food arrived, we never saw our servers again. No one came by to ask how everything was (excellent!) and no one asked us if we wanted more cocktails (we did). I eventually got one server's attention from across the floor and asked for another cocktail for myself, but she was gone before my husband could order another one--and she hadn't asked him if he also wanted another drink. There was one server (not our assigned server, I think) who was great--he boxed our food and threw in some extra rice, which was an unexpected, nice, and appreciated touch. Our regular server brought our check without having asked us whether we wanted anything else (we did) and without any wrap-up at all--just an unceremonious and unprompted drop-off of the check. SHE decided that we were done instead of US deciding that we were done. That's just offensive, regardless of the intention behind it; it left us feeling like we were being asked to leave. I had just received my second drink (the one I'd had to ask for), yet the server said "Take your time" when she put the check down on the table. Do you really need to say "Take your time" re: the check when a fresh drink has just been delivered to the table, especially when the restaurant is only half full? The service felt very amateurish and bare-minimum to me. I know they didn't mean to be offensive and off-putting, but that was the result. It was disappointing. At this point, I feel like I'm just venting in a petty way, but here's one more data point: My husband and I are in our 40s. When we ordered our alcoholic drinks, the server said, "Can I see your IDs? ...(pause)... JUST KIDDING!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!!" We laughed it off, but it really wasn't funny. It was just awkward, embarrassing, and borderline insulting. Yeah, we know we're older than you and don't need to have our IDs checked. Thanks for the "funny" joke! Service: 2 stars. Once again, we would absolutely return for the food, especially if we're already in the neighborhood. It was soooo good! I hope they can get their service act together. If they can, I think they have a great shot at making a serious impact on the Seattle Thai food scene.

Their service is a lottery between mediocre and bad. The food is fine although smaller portions for the price than most Thai restaurants in Seattle. Yeah, I get it, they have to pay Seattle's high rents and that gets passed along to the customer. The reason we will never return to ZapVerr is the service. It is flaky, lackadaisical, random whether you will receive so-so service or bad service. With another Thai restaurant practically across the street you might think the owners would have more of a fire under them to provide a positive experience to diners than this place is apparently capable of. For Thai food close to our neighborhood we will simply switch back to our previous place. We are tired of playing a lottery game of bad service or so-so service. We will never go back. I suspect their windows will be papered over within a year.

In a city with a plethora of Thai restaurants, ZapVerr stands out. I hate to share this, but it's the best-kept secret for Happy Hour!! Husband and I had 3 dishes plus 3 cocktails and walked out for $36 + tips -- amazing!! First off, the decor is modern/cute. First thing you notice walking in the large wood doors is two enormous round portals all lit up. Nice effect! There are booths lining two walls, with the bar in the middle. I personally like the booths, but the tables have retro cool pleather seats. They also play great music. Happy Hour is supposed to be only in the bar, but when the bar was crowded, the waiter said he'd give it to us in the booth-- bonus. The HH menu has a large assortments of martinis (many are more like cocktails than true martinis) for only $5. My husband's ginger martini was gingery goodness. My Big Bang Cosmo was like a hard tropical punch garnished with a lychee & cherry. The HH food menu was sufficiently large, with appetizers, soups, salads and even 3 entrees, all for $5-6. A really good deal. Plus Happy Hour is every day 3-6, even Saturdays, and again after 10pm. The regular menu is huge and varied. All your Thai standards are here, but also some unusual selections, such as sundried spiced fried pork or beef (WAY better than it sounds!) and smoked chicken with sticky rice. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the choices, the waiters are knowledgeable and will give us suggestions. I hope ZapVerr will give Jai Thai (across the street) a run for its money. It deserves to. I give it 5-stars for Happy Hour and 4.5 for regular menu.

Delicious authentic thai, beautiful decor, & friendly staff. Reasonable prices too. Fun to have a modern thai place in Fremont! Their larb gai, Salty egg fried rice, & water spinach is SO good.

Very good! I ordered my barometer dish for Thai restaurants, which is Pad Kee Mao. They offer one to five stars for spiciness. I ordered a 3, and it was a bit hot. I half expected it according to the introduction on the menu. They don't concentrate as much on the sweet. I will order Pad Thai next time I go!
