Hype with a side of dry and a too dense dough chaser. I've wanted to like these donuts since they're right by my house, but I can't. I know what a real donut is, what a dunkin donut is, what a bad supermarket donut is, and even what a fair donut is. These, these are something that is their own beast, they're too heavy, dense, not soft at all, the fillings are too sweet and they harden the moment air touches them. I like pillowy soft, not too sweet, balanced filling in my donuts, I'm a mid west girl so I know a good thing when I taste it. Unfortunately I'm left flat, really wishing they tasted better, and curious how so many people believe that is the best donut offered in the city. Won't even mention the hipster staff who meh and uh when you ask a question. Teens I would understand, twenty something's I could understand, but thirty something's working at a donut shop acting like that, kinda a big turn off for patroning a business.

Top Pot is so hyped up! Nothing special about the donuts, they're just regular donuts. I prefer Krispy Kreme - soft and pillowy, or do-rite donuts in Chicago.

Perfect spot to grab coffee, a delicious apple fritter and study. Friendly staff and great music!

This is one of those over-hyped Yelp places in my opinion. I got the maple glazed bar and while it was good, it wasn't as good as the donuts that I get back home at my favorite mom and pop shop. My girlfriend got some sea salt caramel donut and that wasn't all that special either. This is probably one of those places that you come once, and you probably won't be back.

We ended up here by looking for a donut place in Queen Anne. We picked up a few donuts for take out, although the place is so warm and inviting that we opted to eat a donut there. The variety of donuts was good, we were just hoping for a few more choices. The choices we did opt for were delicious. Vey friendly staff, we will be back.

One of my absolute favorite places to get a doughnut in all of the Seattle area. They have a huge selection of doughnuts and the doughnuts themselves are quite huge but at a moderate price. The doughnuts have a great texture and the frosting is always tasty and never overpowering. You can get any doughnut off the menu and not go wrong. I have always encountered friendly staff at this particular location and the store is always nice and clean.

  • Sophie H.

You can buy these donuts cheaper at QFC, and get better customer service. I see no reason to pay double and also buy a tepid badly made coffee to accompany it. However,if you like your morning donuts served with condescension and boredom, then this is your place.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I've eaten plenty o' donuts. This by far has been the best DONUTS ever. If you know of another place, please let me know and I will put my palate to the test. Their donuts are simple, straightforward and genuine. I've intrigued by all the gourmet favors but sometimes you just want a simple donut. Their chocolate frosting on chocolate cake donut was by far the best thing I have ever tasted. So flavorful with the right texture and amount of sweetness. I was mind blown at the perfection of simplicity. The location is located on the corner of Galer and smaller street so there is ample parking on the side street. The case was 3/4 full during my afternoon visit. Still a great selection to choose from. I purchased a chocolate on chocolate cake donut, glazed and one apple fritter. All succeeded in making me want more! I am so glad this place exists and that there are multiple locations. I will definitely be back!

i asked the worker which donut i should get because this was a one-shot deal since i'm from NY. he responded with, "well our donuts are better than dunkin donuts." i was slightly offended since NY is food mecca and obviously he hasn't been outside the seattle bubble. deep down inside, i hoped that doughnut plant would kick their asses.. well, he was lucky. it wasn't mind-blowing but it was pretty good considering how simple they were. got the old fashioned glazed donut and the seasonal sea salt caramel donut. definitely recommend this to try at least once. and that says a lot coming from someone who doesn't even like donuts.

Service was great. Very friendly staff. Donut is gross. Another overhyped Seattle place. I actually like the store layout and laid back ambiance. But it is a donut shop after all ... and the donuts are horrifically bad.

The doughnut is very choice! I ended up eating it with my chai tea. It was a perfect combo to a rainy Seattle day.

This is my second visit to a Top Pot in the area. I've noticed one consistency between the two locations; they never have very many donuts. It was literally like 5 stale donuts to pick from. After spending $7 for a cup of coffee and a small old donut, I'm puzzled at the appeal of this place.

    (3)
  • Steven G.

The service is okay. The coffee is okay. This particular location is a decent place to hang out. The donuts are glorified cake. Seattlites don't have any experience with honest to goodness donuts, so they think this stuff is great when it's really not.

  • Melissa C.

Top Pot is a Seattle institution. Unfortunately, this particular Top Pot often has a limited selection of donuts or is out of them completely by 9 a.m. I'm not sure why. If you're lucky enough to find them stocked full, I love the maple bar, maple old fashioned (same flavor at a fraction of the calories) or the plain glazed dipped into a latte. Also, the cherry blossom drink is delicious, especially in summer when you want something cold, sweet and decaffeinated. The staff is usually very nice, there's ample seating, wi-fi and air conditioning. Don't forget your frequent flyer coffee card! Buy 10 drinks and the 11th is free - good at all locations.

  • Lea A.

Only okay. It's a nice atmosphere and neighbourhood, but the actual doughnut taste isn't anything to write home about. It's not bad at all, just nothing special. Worth a visit if you're in the area, but I've had better specialty donuts elsewhere.

hippity rippity donuts... Top Pot is a hip lil shop with slightly rip prices, but with everything I'd want to make it a place I'd come back for. I wouldn't say Top Pot donuts were mind blowing, but they in combination with ambiance/atmosphere were definitely better than your average mom and pop donut shop... The Bavarian cream was nothing to write home about, but the maple bar was probably one of the best I've had... non greasy, fluffy, and just the perfect combo of maple:cake. For the two, it cost me a lil under $5. The shop is small but comfortable, and is an overall cute spot I'd easily come back to for my occasional dose of donuts&coffee and studying/lounging.

Ah, good ol' Top Pot. I love a good donut or two from this place. And having this one just up the hill from me is nice, since it saves me from making a trip to Belltown for their sugary, fried dough glory! This particular location is smaller and cozier than their Belltown location, and finding nearby parking is easier here than at a number of their other locations. Two definite pluses. One drawback though, is that since this location is also smaller, they can run out of certain donut varieties more easily, or may simply not have them on hand in the first place. Still, you will typically have no issues getting your hands on the essentials, like the maple bars and apple fritters. Even if you aren't a donut fan (And let's be honest, I'm giving you the evil eyes if you're even thinking that!), you can always grab a quality cup of coffee here too. Better yet, combine the two for a serious dosage of win, and thank me later!

Top Pot is my favorite doughnut place in Seattle. If you're in Queen Anne, stopping by this location for some Sunday morning doughnuts and coffee can't be beat. The selection isn't as broad as the one downtown, but it's not as crowded here in my experience. Try an ovaltine latte and a chocolate old fashioned, bring a book or read the newspaper, and sit at the window. Or, walk down to Kerry Park for a perfect view of the city.

    (4)
  • Linda T.

this is a nice location-roomy, nice neighborhood, easy parking, right next to Molly Moons ice cream! seats were comfy and you get a good view out the window from the stools. donuts were yum. can taste the quality. -cinnamon old fashion was good -raspberry bullseye was good. soft, fluffy brioche with a dollop of raspberry jam in the center. better than other simple brioche donuts out there. coffee was surprisingly good.

Mighty O is my #1 fave, but Top Pot is an awfully close second! This is my favorite Top Pot location as it's nice and big with lots of natural light. There's always a good variety of doughnuts available and their coffee and espresso drinks are stellar. Where else can you get an Ovaltine latte?! Service can run from polite to almost surly. Don't expect the overly effusive greeting you might get at Cafe Fiore across the street; it probably won't happen here. I must add that I stop in weekly and only in the mornings; my experience may be totally different with the more well rested midday or afternoon staff! The doughnuts are always fresh and plentiful! The Valley Girl Lemon is a must try, as are the Chocolate Sandstone, Raspberry Bullseye and Maple Old Fashioned, Keep an eye out for their seasonal doughnuts, too! These are quality doughnuts at a decent price. They're made with care and you really shouldn't put a price on quality and craftsmanship. You can even get Top Pot at QFC if you want to get all cheap about it (they appear to be a little smaller, but they do cost less than buying them at a Top Pot, so I think it evens out). Also, you're not greeted by the nauseating stink of sugar and lard; this is a revolting smell that lingers around both Frost and Krispy Kreme, along with a lot of grocery store bakeries when they're frying up doughnuts. Gross.

I didn't quite think it was possible, but I went into this Top Pot on Saturday and got ONLY a latte. No doughnut. (I'll pause now so you can take a moment to be impressed.) I'm not saying it was easy, but it did happen. As a souvenir, I took a photo of the pastry case so I could at least look at them for longer. But let's talk about the coffee. I ordered a tall soy latte, which was way more expensive than it really needed to be (a shade under $5). I suppose the reason it surprised me is that a tall (12 oz) is really their medium size, so I wasn't looking at the right column on the board. Oh well, it was totally delicious so it was worth it. At least now I know for future reference to save up before I want both coffee AND a doughnut...

So the melted chocolate ice cream I had yesterday was calling my name again. I had to get some more...and wouldn't you know it, Top Pot was open during the time we got there. This place is literally a door down from Molly Moons Ice Cream. If you have a sweet tooth, this might be the perfect block for you. My wife and her mom bought some donuts from here. My mother in law got a cinnamon roll and a maple bar for my father in law. She ate the cinnamon roll and said that it was really good. My wife got a chocolate bar and it was great. Its a huge raised donut dipped in chocolate. The price was a tad over $2.00. Seems a little pricey for only 1 donut but it was worth it. I ate about half of it and the taste was great and it was big! The lady helping my wife and her mom was super cool too. She was patient, friendly and just overall a real nice person. I would love to come back to try more of their donuts...and I just might!

  • Chris J.

Honestly this place has the best doughnuts that I have ever had. They are handmade which is probably one reason why they taste so good but I think the recipes they use play a good part too. They have classic donuts like chocolate glaze and apple fritters and they also have some original ones like the bulls-eye, my personal favorite. The coffee is pretty good too. A lot of places that focus on baked goods usually only have okay coffee but they have a full espresso bar here. You can get espresso drinks but I find their drip coffee to be solid. I go to the Top Pot in Queen Anne and what I find really nice is that I can always find a place to sit down and do some work. The WiFi is free so I generally end up enjoying a doughnut and coffee while catching up on some work.

I heard they had a pumpkin doughnut, so i had to go try it! This is a great location...quiet neighborhood feel just made me wish I could stay and hang out longer. The pumpkin doughnut was good, but the raspberry filled was amazing! Just like the jelly goughnuts of my childhood but on steroids...

2 hours after gorging at Paseo on the waterfront, my husband looks at our BFF and says to him, "I could really go for a doughnut right now." Quick second on the iPhone, and we are off. We order 1 pink rainbow sprinkle cake, 1 cinnamon sugar cake, 1 chocolate bar, and 1 glazed. There are 4 of us, and we decide we will do this family style, everyone shares. The husband grabs a hot chocolate, I grab a mocha, the BFF's GF grabs a soy latte. I love that the cake donuts are sweet and delicious, but still have a lightness to them. The yeast donuts are light and airy. In general, it was nice that regardless of how they were coated, they weren't overly sweet. I didn't feel the cavities forming after just one bite. Avoid the mochas - it reminded me of bubblegum flavored antibiotic syrup the doctor used to give me when I was little. Blech. I don't know that I would ever go back (well maybe for the cinnamon sugar cake donut), but I did enjoy our trip there.

Decent coffee, good doughnuts, horrible cashiers/service - the barista's are generally very personable and kind, but the cashiers are outright rude and snobby (also have a pretentiousness about themselves)... Maybe there is a reason why I always gravitate to Starbucks? Really unfortunate since Top Pot is only a block away from my house...

    (2)
  • Kari L.

Ok doughnuts, pretty lousy drip coffee (luke warm and weak)...also, I suggest the server ask people if they are ordering to eat in or go to reduce the amount of paper cups- so many people had paper cups in front of them while drinking their coffee in the cafe...

I'd been to Top Pot a couple of years ago when in Seattle and wanted to give them another try. The woman working behind the counter at this location was super friendly, and gave great recommendations. There wasn't a huge selection of donuts, but they were good and tasty. If you're not taking it to go, they give you actual dishes to eat them on which is a nice touch. They're a little pricey, for donuts, but we enjoyed them and the very friendly lady working that day.

  • Kat P.

A go-to on Queen Anne as it is right next to my family's house. It's always been pretty laid-back and quiet when I've come in, which is nice. I have tried a variety of the donuts, mainly the cake ones, and they have always been good. I have been to some other donut places with more of a variety of crazy donuts, which can be cool, but sometimes you just want some good old classics. I haven't really had much of the coffee beverages or anything here so I can't speak for those, but the donuts are solid and tasty and I would definitely recommend giving them a try!

  • Cheryl M.

The last 2 times I've come to this location, in the morning even, the selection of donuts was scarce and the donut I chose seemed like it had been around awhile. Today the service wasn't very good, either. The guy working the counter was unfriendly at best, seemed like he'd rather be just about anywhere else than there, but he was just probably having a bad day. Must be hard selling donuts to people when there are hardly any donuts there to sell. Anyway, today was my last time there.

Huh. You know, I don't often go against the Yelpy grain, but I didn't have the experience (with regard to food) here at Top Pot Doughnuts that I expected having read some Yelp reviews ahead of time. I love doughnuts, but didn't think these were all that great with respect to quality or variety. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? TPD has without question a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the sever behind the counter couldn't have been nicer. I'm actually a bit surprised at how little floor space is dedicated to showing customers doughnuts, but I liked the 'tagged' approach to pricing and the trendy display. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $1.99 for a very standard glazed cake doughnut isn't exactly cheap (my favorite shop back in California has larger donuts for cheaper prices yelp.com/biz/best-donuts… ) but I didn't find it unreasonable. There are essentially four tiers of pricing, and I didn't feel like any of them were taking advantage of the fact that donuts in Seattle aren't as common as you might think. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? You know? I just honestly wasn't a fan. My benchmark for any doughnut shop is their standard glazed, and as you can see in the picture, there wasn't a whole lot of glaze to speak of on Top Pot's glazed cake doughnut. I was thrown a bit by the fact that the glaze was still "wet" as opposed to settled and more firm, but I could have quickly gotten over that if I were blown away by the taste. I wasn't, and this might have well just been a standard cake doughnut with not too much flavor to speak of besides the taste of whatever it was fried in. Maybe I ordered wrong? My buddy got a chocolate cream filled cake that he said was okay, but all in all I was a bit let down by the experience as a whole. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? While I don't know, my suspicion is that there are much better doughnut shops in Seattle, and I'd be hard pressed to recommend Top Pot when you've got an ice cream shop next store. No Star Granted.

Bleh. I am a donut girl. So much so, in fact, that in lieu of a traditional wedding cake Chef Fiancé and I are having Blue Star Donuts of Portland, OR create a tower of their incredibly perfect donuts to share with our guests on the Big Day. Would we have loved to have given that business to the shop three blocks from home? Ab-so-lutely!! Unfortunately, there just isn't anything to like about these donuts. Too dense. Too sweet. Uninspired flavors. They're really just barely improved supermarket donuts and carry a premium price tag. Will it do in a pinch to satisfy the urge? Sure. But that is the extent of the Top Pot magic.

I ended up here after deciding the place I was going to meet my friend at was too busy. This ended up being a great space to meet for the afternoon. It was well lit, comfortable and we were able to talk with ought worrying we would be bothering anybody. My mocha was great. The staff was great. It's a doughnut shop, but I'm not a fan of the doughnuts in general, but my friend ordered the applesauce doughnut and it was good. Parking can be a challenge at times, but if you don't mind a little bit of a walk it's not bad. I will definitely come back for the coffee and the atmosphere.

I heard of Top Pot Doughnuts from a friend and decided I had to check it out. I'd say it was definitely worth walk. I love doughnuts and they exceeded my expectations. They were huge and fresh, no complaints whatsoever. Would come back next time I'm in Seattle.

The last time I ate a Top Pot donut was back in the fourth grade because my teacher really liked them. My friends had been previously raving about these sweet rings of dough, so I was excited to get my hands on one. Top Pot Doughnut is a very hip, modern, and trendy bakery in Seattle. They are 'hand forged', whatever that means... I have only had doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, QFC, and Mister Donut in Taiwan. I am perfectly fine with those rings. They satisfy my sweet tooth well. I decided to pick up an old fashioned doughnut because it is the original, and supposedly the best. I loved how the exterior was crisp and had nice edges. I also liked how the inside was really fluffy, and the glaze made it over the TOP...haha. I want to go back to try their bavarian cream, pink feather boa, and chocolate old fashioned...possibly their raspberry too because it is one of my friend's favorites.

  • Angel I.

This Top Pot Doughnuts location has super super friendly service on top of having yummy donuts and great coffee! This location is quieter than the Belltown or Capitol Hill one and they have wifi so it would be a great place to read a book but I'm not so sure about a quiet conversation. They run out of doughnuts quicker than the other locations but this is also a smaller location as well. I thought the prices are reasonable, but there is a coupon in the Chinook book for buy one coffee/donut get one free, which makes it even more affordable.

  • Matt R.

some of the best doughnuts I've had (right up there with VooDoo in Portland). The cost for the two doughnuts was $3.26 total with tax. Opted for the Raspberry Ring and a Plain Glazed Cake for my wife. Almost got the Cherry Blossom but thought eating two of these bad boys myself was a little greedy. The feather boa looks great but the Man in me just can't bring myself to get it. This place is always busy but somehow I can get in and out in just a few minutes. Prices are right and their doughnuts are fresh and tasty. Coffee is good too- but I'm there for the doughnuts. High Five Top Pot. You guys are the shit.

These kids know what they're doing. I say kids because I am always greeted with friendliness and great customer service. They're welcoming and efficient, the donuts are amazing and the coffee is always hot and consistently delicious. Overall a great atmosphere any time of the day!

Beautiful place to have a donut and relax/work a while. Nice donut selection and the best lemon donut I have ever had! I still prefer Mighty O sprinkles as my favorite donut of all time, but I am thrilled to have such a great donut shop as Top Pot in my neighborhood!!!

It's a cool space with the original wood floors, tall bookshelves full of dusty tomes, and perky people ready to serve. When my now wife and I first moved in together, I woke up one beautiful Saturday morning, rolled over to kiss her good morning, and was greeted with "Get me a doughnut... bitch." I should have seen the signs, but alas, I find myself heading into this weekend, now married, and with delicious fried dough just 3 blocks away..... I'm already having flashbacks.

I've lived in washington for 10 years have never been to top pot. Not until I started to yelp, so thank you yelp. I came up from California to visit the fams, and had to make a doughnut stop. Now I'm a fan of doughnuts (King Pin in Berkeley!), but these are damn good. Unfortunately I had to take a tourist around aka the boyfriend so we came at an odd time were they had only a few doughnuts left the double trouble i think it's called and the apple fritter for the boyfriend. Both were good, just wish they made more for the late crowd.

Yummy doughnuts. I take my kids here but it's really for me to indulge in a doughnut. I like them all and they are not skimpy doughnuts. The Valley girl is my favorite I am a sucker for a lemon filled doughnut. But I have had most of them and think they are all pretty great. The staff is friendly and pretty patient considering the place always has kids in it. I have kids and even I think that would be annoying. But this will always be my favorite doughnut shop.

  • Zombie C.

I really like the high quality doughnuts here. The apple fritter really taste like apple, and the double trouble actually taste like chocolate. I am not a fan of grocery store doughnuts and Top Pot offers an enjoyable alternative. I do not like the hot chocolate here, and I would like to suggest that customers be offered a more traditional option.

I prefer top pot over any other! I'm a regular at this neighborhood spot and am known for my usual apple fritter. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Although, not a fan of their coffee (I frolic across the street to Fiore whose coffee is superior) I can never be sick of their doughnuts. This location is frequented with many families and is a very laid back, easy place to enjoy a little snack anytime of the day.

  • Caliope S.

I'm always sketched out when the employee behind the counter (of any establishment) tells me my total without ringing it up on the register first. Sure, I know how easy it is to learn by repetition what certain combinations of items you consistently sell cost, but is it really too much work to punch a few buttons on the register so I can make sure your math isn't wrong, and I dunno, maybe even get a receipt? I ordered two doughnuts here-- a blueberry frosted cake and a chocolate old-fashioned-- both of which I was pretty sure were on the 99 cent menu, but certainly weren't on the $2+ menu and my total came to $4.16. How is this possible? And even if it *is* correct, there is no way two doughnuts are valuable enough to warrant more than $5 (which is what my purchase came to with a $1 totally unearned tip that I threw in the tip jar before I realized how unearned it was)! If I hadn't been so hungry (it was after 2pm and I hadn't eaten since waking up at 7am), I probably would have noticed this strange math before leaving the shop, but as it was, I just wanted to scarf down my doughnuts to calm my screaming stomach. It should be noted that I was, in fact, so hungry that eating two doughnuts seemed like a logical first meal of the day! So no, I wasn't exactly of sound mind at the time, which is my defense for why I didn't notice the ridiculous total she asked for. Though yes, those doughnuts were much better- delicious, even- than my previous experience at the Top Pot in downtown on 5th (but not as good as FROST in Mill Creek), however not worth $5 when I can get up to 15 (specialty) doughnuts at FROST for $15. I won't make a regular habit of this place, even if doughnuts are one of my weaknesses, if they really are that expensive...or if the girl behind the counter totally ripped me off. I may come to study here though as I found the cafe area charming and comfortable looking (as far as spreading out a laptop and books on a large table are concerned). Guess I'll just have to make a point of asking which doughnuts are 99 cents and choose from what I'm told and not rely on the menu board to answer this question! And in case you were wondering, yes, you do have to parallel park to get these doughnuts-- no parking lot around unless you park at Trader Joe's and walk a few blocks.

This is my favorite Top Pot location. I enjoy heading up for some brunch, then walking south to Kerry Park to enjoy the view and a few more delicious bites of donut. Best flavors: the old fashioned, chocolate old fashioned, and their seasonal specialty blueberry and chai.

I'm a huge top pot fan. I've lived within blocks from a few of them across Seattle and they've never let me down. Friendly people, top notch donuts and always reliable wifi. I even ran into George Clinton at one of em, is that not the stamp of cool? Best donuts in the country.

It's interesting how this little bit of Queen Anne has changed lately. The strip of stores that used to house an old fabric store now includes Via Tribunali on one end, *another* fancy pet store and now Top Pot Donuts on the other. If you catch it just right, say somewhere around late morning to four in the afternoon, you'll get lots of sun (that is, if the sun is shining). Oh, and of course, some very tempting-looking donuts. Plus fee WiFi. They have more than donuts too. The Harvest Bread I had last time was delicious and a generous enough portion for two snacks. The design is a little utilitarian -- disappointing, since the one on 4th is so architectural. The coffee, although not burnt (a very a good thing), could use a little punch in flavor. Plus, I had to ask for milk -- only choices were non-fat and half&half at the sidebar (I always find that a pain -- you feel like you're bothering them or something). And a few more choices for cold drinks would be nice. If Top Pot's supply of caffeine and sugar doesn't get you recharged, you can always hit Caffe Fiore across the street (their coffee's of the burnt variety though). Plus, the Queen Anne library is nearby and you can always hit up Trader Joe's right down the street on the way home.

good coffee + donuts + free wifi + easy parking = no complaints. i was showing visiting friends who were staying in queen anne the local attractions which i think top pot is a seattle institution. and the great thing about this location is that it's close to downtown and yet with easy parking and in a quiet neighborhood so u really can just sit down and enjoy your coffee and doughnuts. they are known for their more cake like donuts that are very dense and they also have a beautiful selection of other kinds of donuts. * this neighborhood tends to be on the young family side so don't be surprised if you see a lot of little kids there.

I don't eat doughnuts too often, but when I do, I like going to Top Pot. I've been to the one in Down Town and in Capital Hill before. Today, I ventured out (although this is the closest location to me) and tried the shop in Queen Ann. I really liked the location. It's a quiet neighborhood and easy to park. It's right near Trader Joe's. I had their raspberry ring (raspberry glaze) and a small drip. My husband got a cinnamon roll (it's called something else though) and a 16 oz mocha. Total came up to a little over $8 with tax. My raspberry ring was big and fluffy and I could definitely taste the raspberry. I also had their drip coffee and that was just okay for me. I guess I could've ran across the street to Cafe Fiore. I wanted to buy some more doughnuts to go, but by the time I was done eating, I was so full that I didn't feel like buying more (which I regretted later on... oh well, I'll just have to make another trip there soon). I'd love to try other flavors next time. They just have so many! If you like doughnuts and live close to Queen Ann, this is the place to go to.

Yeah, the donughts are incredible. And I can't resist going back. So I will. In spite of the workers there that seem annoyed that I'm there in the first place. Especially with my kids. I'm sorry... our family loves your doughnuts! I know we are putting a big damper on your depressed lifestyle so if you don't want us there either lock the doors or stop making such delicious treats.

Okay, so I don't even really like donuts, but THESE donuts are the best donuts in the universe! Krispie Cremes who? Yuck. Top pot donuts are fresh and delish. You can also get one at Starbucks! The chocolate glazed old fashion is to die for. Just beware while at the QA location, don't let your kid touch the one of a kind, antique, priceless books in the bookshelves sorrounding the tables or you'll bound to get screeched at.

I like the store a lot. Of course, I've fond of light and wood. The donuts are fantastic, and the selection creative. Free wi-fi helps, too. I do wish they'd turn the music down, though.

Dear lord Seattle, how on earth am I going to avoid packing on the pounds with all of your fabulous doughnut shops! Previous to this I had only had a top pot doughnut via Starbucks. We tried the raspberry and it was the perfect amount of sweetness and a light texture. The coffee was pretty good too. For the sake of my thighs I hope I don't become a regular.

Met here with some new friends today. Good coffee, great doughnuts. I had a Lemon Old Fashion, very yum. But let's be honest, it's Top Pot, would I expect anything less?

Old style fashioned donuts. Adorable decor. We got a dozen of donuts all different for about $15. The typical donut is harder than your Dunkin Donuts chain kind of variety which is much more soft. The ones that had filling were soft and chewy though. The best was the blueberry with glaze: super strong blueberry flavor! The bull's eye was also yummy very soft with a glaze and drop of jam in the center.

My family was visiting from Eastern WA and they wanted to try Top Pot, so we took them there Saturday morning and ordered a pretty large order because there was 7 of us. The customer service sucked. Not only did they forget one of our coffees (we never did get it) when I tried to ask the lady for help, she simply responded "I can't hear you over the coffee machine" so I waited a few more minutes for some help, nothing. I was with my 4 year old neice and I knew she was getting antsy so we just left. I was really frustrated though because no one even tried to help us even after we just spent a ton of money on coffee and doughnuts! Not only will I never go back, none of the rest of our group of 7 were very impressed either. Also, my sister thought the doughnuts were comparable to Safeway. If you are looking for a great quick breakfast type food on top of Queen Anne go to Noah's Bagels instead!

It was a Saturday in which my plans for brunch fell through last minute, no one was answering texts seeing if they wanted to meet up for brunch. Rather than calling the waaaambulance, which I almost did, I just decided to grab a quick doughnut and then later make a big dinner. It was about 1130 on a Saturday and this place was paccccccccked. There was nowhere to sit, which was fine, I was planning to walk to the lookout park anyways. My doughnut was tasty, with pink frosting and coconut, but my latte was mediocre at best. Should have gone across the street for that. Not that I am in this hood often, but wouldn't mind it again when it was less crowded.

Powdered doughnut was incredible. Good lattes too!

  • Jason A.

Love the doughnuts, decent coffee, super nice staff. Nice space, generally you can find a place to sit, and they have power for laptops. I enjoy hanging out there on a sunny day (or rainy day for that matter) and doing a bit of work ... but ... the wifi connection is really sketchy, which drives me a little nuts. If, like me, you need wifi to be productive while you enjoy your coffee, I recommend checking the connection before placing your order.

Amazing apple fritter this morning. Wi-Fi is quick. So many flavors! I WANT to try them all right now but must be patient. Warning: if you like donuts (and who doesn't) you will love Top Pot so much that you will never be able to go anywhere else.

  • Andrew C.

Ever since first trying Top Pot, there are no other doughnuts worth eating (apart from Mighty-O). This is a good thing, because I am never tempted to eat other doughnuts; its also bad, because I'm more inclined to frequent Top Pot. The chocolate sandcastle and the double trouble are my favorite.

  • Tim W.

I love this location. It is warm and cozy. but i cannot complain about any of the locations. i like the one in capital hill as well. The people are as usual friendly. My fav. is the bavarian cream filled or the apple fritter. it just comes apart in nice bite size chunks. perfect for dipping into your coffee. However, the coffee is better across the street at cafe vita (in queen anne) is better. so get your doughnut at one and coffee at the other and you'll be set! just make sure you schedule a run afterward to burn up that sugar!

GOOD dough nuts, even better coffee! I love coming here on breaks from work. They have free WiFi which it GREAT, the people here are really friendly, the atmosphere is really relaxed. I like that I don't feel like I need to be a total hipster to sit here. Make sure to sit up by the windows, as there is some amazing people watching to be done. If you have a sweet tooth stop in for a old fashioned (their my favorite).

  • Dave S.

While doing some work out in your fine city, I was led to Top Pot on 4th and then realized that the Queen Anne location was just about to open; which was right around the corner from where I was staying That's good and bad, as I found myself rationalizing the altering of my route in the morning to stop in and get a donut (coffee at Vita, however), but having to work off the extra fat due to my addiction. My favorite is the Chocolate Sandcastle, I dabbled with some others but that became my go-to. Their stuff is great, all handmade and as fresh as you could ask for.

  • Ben Y.

Not delighted with this location and I love a good doughnut. While the doughnuts here are good they are not amazing, nor freshly made on site, nope they bring them up from the downtown location. So if you show up after say 9am plan on a not so fresh sugary snack to go with your people watching. My favorite part of this doughnut shop is the bookshelves, whish is sad since I wish it was the doughnuts. If you want a good doughnut visit their down town location located on 5th.

  • Wendy O.

Yay! I loved loved this little coffee shop. It may have been the gorgeous sunny fall morning and how the light brightened the shop but I'm not kidding when I say the doughnut I had here was the best I've had. I wanted to eat another....and another. They have old storybooks on the wall too, which makes for a fun, relaxing start to the day. I highly recommend stopping in this top pot during your visit to Seattle!

  • Marty S.

Attention: Parents who bring your kids into this location. IT IS NOT A PLAYGROUND. First of all, the doughnuts and staff here are great. My problem with this location is the patrons who bring their misbehaved children into the cafe as if it's some kind of playground or daycare center where their kids can run around and act like little jackasses while their parents take a "breather" to enjoy their coffees. I have a problem with this because it's a public place and everyone, including people without kids, have a right to enjoy their morning doughnut and coffee in peace. The only way I can survive the noise levels is to bring headphones and an iPod, but I don't always want to read or work on my laptop while listening to music, much less to the annoying screams and giggles of sugar-crazed kids. What happened to manners and civility? You're better than that, Queen Anne...or at least you have the money to pretend to be.

My favorite Top Pot (and I've been to them all - often!) Great location, easy parking, friendliest service.

  • Christina L.

Top Pot's chocolate cake doughnut with chocolate icing is quite tasty. This doughnut has an almost fluffy texture that is paired with a chewiness that tastes a little like they added mochi rice flour to the dough. The only other time I've had doughnuts with this kind of fluffy chew is at the Mister Donut chain in Japan. It doesn't taste so much like cake to me as its own distinct baked good category, which is the way it should be. This doughnut is satisfying, chocolaty and not too sweet.

  • Jeff B.

Ok so I decided to check out the Top Pot on Queen Anne because I was nearby and a couple of donuts sounded good. It was about 3 pm and looking thru the selection of donuts, none of them looked super fresh. I asked about the Valley Girl Lemon donut because I love lemon...............I was informed they haven't sold them in about 3 years according to the guy serving me. This is a brand new location and they can't update their menu board? I took one star off my review for building a brand new store and using at least a 3 year old menu board. I also took a star off for being pricey for a donut store. These donuts are bigger then most donuts but for the price not enough icing..........I want my sugar level to rise ya know........... I think I would rather frequent other places. In my opinion the maple bar I had at 7-11 was superior to Top Pots and cheaper too. It's not somewhere I will drive to just for donuts, but if I am within walking distance I might go again. It seems alot of people love this place I guess I am just not one of them.

  • Karl S.

Yup, a definite must see. Plenty of all your favorites (apple fritters - yum!), plus amazing light with all the windows and a crisp open feeling interior. It's a little off the beaten path, but that's what makes it more relaxed and leisurely. Double wide counter so you'll never have to wait long. Took my dog for a walk around the hood, can't beat the views and all the old school mansions. Check it out!

The best doughnuts in Seattle. Great coffee. Good place to hang out and read since it's well lit and relatively quiet. Kids like it too.

Good donuts at a very high price. When Top Pot first opened on Queen Anne we rushed over to try these very popular donuts. Yes, they are good; however, we've noticed that the donuts seem to be getting a bit smaller and the price a lot higher. I feel like they take advantage of their customers with their high-pricing. We go half as often as we used to because of this.

This review is for this particular location. The donuts are delicious no matter where you eat them... however, the service certainly differs location to location. If you are going to enjoy a delicious top pot donut, i recommend going downtown. They always seem to be in a better mood down there. Not sure why... Last time I was at the QA location a very bitter woman behind the counter was extremely rude. I don't know if she even works there anymore- she has a giant tattoo on her chest- but she made sure that I will not go back to the QA location. Basically I asked her if they had any more old fashioned donuts- (maybe there were a few in the back, i could see trays on counters and what not) and she replied: "Do you SEE any Old fashioned donuts? Cause, I don't SEE any. So, NO." along with many other snide comments and absolutely no customer service. Yeah, rude. A simple, "No, sorry, we are all out for today" would have sufficed. Save your good mood and head downtown. :) (And coming from someone that hates paying for parking... that's something).

Top Pot is a Seattle staple, for sure. I somehow ended up living across the street from the shop on Queen Anne. Hooray! The donuts here are good, of course. What I really love though is the harvest squash bread and I can't resist it for more than about a week at a time. I believe it's made by Macrina and the cut it in pretty huge slabs here. So good... and now I want some. The lattes here are pretty good. Not great in my mind, but growing on me. The drips is generally solid, though. Don't let the hipster style behind the counter fool you, these guys are really friendly and welcoming. I definitely appreciate anyone who will take the time to show they recognize your face.

    (4)
  • Christine C.

Everyone told me I should try Top Pot while I was visiting Seattle. So, I did. The snarky hipster girl working the counter yelled at me when I was unable to make a decision, so I just got one doughnut. It was okay.

I love love love love love top pot. it's one of the few places that still makes old fashioned cake doughnuts, which are harder and harder to come by in a krispy-kreme filled world! I don't drink coffee, but I do enjoy coming in here before work to treat myself to a little sweet, a little reading, and a lot of people watching. Perhaps the people watching is better at their capitol hill location, but it's still a lovely place nonetheless. I don't think they make their doughnuts on-site (I believe they have twice daily deliveries from wherever their main plant is) which is fine, but sometimes it means that they will be sold out of a lot of varieties and unable to replenish them if you come a little later in the day, which can be a bummer (hence four stars instead of five). Still one of my favorite places to come with a book!

    (4)
  • Wesh W.

It could be the worst donut shop for miles and I'd like it because it's on my block. Luckily, the donuts and coffee are awesome... ...and it's still on my block! SUCKAZZZ! :)

    (4)
  • Zack Z.

This is an average doughnut shop. I didn't think there was anything special about these doughnuts. I think it's just a popular spot because its a Seattle staple.

    (3)
  • Erin B.

These donuts are awesome! I've tried many of them because I order a dozen for work occasionally. The donuts are huge! (this probably makes them about 1500 cal ea!) Everyone loves when I bring them to work, except I work with all women so they all moan and groan while stuffing their faces! ;) They have a huge variety so it's hard to only pick 12 (or 1). The best part is that the ValuePak has a 1/2 off a dozen doughnuts or a free coffee with a dount (or vice versa). Otherwise, a dozen donuts is pricey ($16-17). If I was ok with gaining 50lbs in 2 weeks I would be there everyday!

    (5)
  • L L.

Just what you would expect from a donut shop that's a step up from Dunkins. I don't live in Seattle, so I do have to say donuts and espressos just don't happen in too many places!

  • Bryce S.

New place. New space. Nice place. It's 9 AM in April, and the newest Top Pot is well lit by sunlight (!) bouncing off a neighboring building's wood siding with the sign "Rafael Carrabba Violin Dealer". Free Wi-Fi but I have a hunch it'll eventually bog down as more neighbors hijack the open connection... Next time I think I'll walk up Queen Anne to burn off the calories before grazing here.

    (4)
  • Calvin M.

The doughnuts are four stars quality. They are not greasy at all and are bigger than most other doughnut places. But damn it's expensive. $17 for a dozen of doughnuts. I would come back here once in awhile to get a couple for myself. But I won't be buying a dozen for the office from here.

    (3)

absolutely love the variety and selection!

On New Years, after spills of Black Cherry Mike's Hard Lemonade on my pants, jacket and bedroom carpet, we discovered that my giant, Pakistani friend's old high school nickname was Sweet Roll. I wanted to be Bear Claw, Annie chose Feather Boa then said, "No way Papa, you're Chocolate Old Fashioned." I have one every single time I go to Top Pot and no other donut, ever. The architecture of the Old Fashioned outside, sugar crunchy ring is museum-perfect. And, the best part, if you've got a Seattle Library Card, you get $1 off every donut you buy.

I absolutely love going to this doughnut place. I love buying a doughnut and getting some coffee. Not only are the doughnuts phenominal but the coffee is great also! The environment is very friendly and the service is superb. It is an awesome place to hang out, read the newspaper, do some homework, etc. Even though it can be busy at times, it is worth waiting in line for. The doughnuts are delicious! I would highly recommend this place!

Is it possible to go wrong with coffee and doughnuts? You'd be hard pressed to screw that one up. However, a round of applause for my experience there. I had a friend in town who had seen this place featured on the Travel Channel or the Food Network--can't quite recall. I had their seasonal pumpkin old fashioned doughnut and plain drip coffee. Both were excellent. Luckily I live at the bottom of Queen Anne and this place is located at the top of Queen Anne. By sheer laziness and an aversion to the very steep hike up, will I not be insanely tempted to visit every day and stuff my face like Homer Simpson. My friend and I stayed while enjoying our "breakfast" and I noticed that there was a really great relationship between the staff and the customers. The staff asked follow up questions of prior events and there seemed to be an atmosphere of comfort and familiarity there. Witnessing a connection like that with customers is always very warming for me to see.

  • John B.

I love donuts as much as Homer Simpson, but I prefer the Top Pot store on 5th Avenue over this store. This store has an "old" smell to it, not what you would expect of a donut shop. I like Top Pot, but the prices they put on their donuts are kinda expensive. Due to the price, I've passed up Top Pot lately and have gotten the cheaper donut at Safeway a few blocks away. Hey after 30 seconds, you don't notice the difference, only the price difference.

Damn good coffee, free wifi, great big space to work. Good music. Nice kids working. And let's not ignore the 800-lb gorilla missing from this review... RASPBERRY CRUELLERS. The ones that look like truck tires. I'm going to be an 800-lb gorilla myself someday because I live so close to this location. Crap. (btw- mommy mafia invades around 3pm everyday, so if that is something that will drive you crazy, just avoid it until about 4pm).

Cake donut fans should unite and give many thanks to this wonderful gift seattle has given us. Of course they have the cream filled versions, glazed ones, etc.....but for me it's all about the CAKE DONUTS! OH HECK-YEAH!! At Top Pot the donuts are moist enough milk is not even required for dunking. Every once in awhile you have to be able to satisfy your sugary treat needs and these donuts are the perfect size and perfection for just that moment. I especially am a HUGE fan of the chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting appropriately called DOUBLE TROUBLE. Need I say more ;-)

  • Mei-I F.

I'm completely obsessed with Top Pot. Ate two doughnuts yesterday and three this morning. That is just this weekend. I keep having mutiple doughnut meals because they sell them at QFC for $0.69 each as opposed to more than double that at their own stores so no wonder I keep stuffing my face. QFC only carries a small selection and all that matters is that it includes my absolute favorite the glazed old fashioned that are out of this world crazy good!! Head to the Queen Anne location if you want a larger selection, nice and mellow environment and great coffee.

I just moved from North Carolina, the home of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I have been having them my whole life and love them, mostly as a taste of my childhood. My local KK there was built in 1930's and has a lot of character. So, I had limited experience with other doughnuts. Discovering the local doughnut culture in Seattle has been great though. Top Pot really has an incredible product and sells it in a great location with a nice atmosphere. However, my Krispy Kreme background has cursed me a smidgen in that I expect the big fluffy style of doughnuts that Top Pot is serving to be super light and soft...but they aren't. They're just a bit firm, and that makes me think of day-old Krispy Kremes. It's a solid product and I go frequently, but if I'm honest, I like Krispy Kreme and Mighty-O just a little bit more.

  • Nina N.

I like the 4th st. location better.... this location on the other hand has the WORST SERVICE ever!! freaking women that work there were such douche's when I just asked if they had anymore glazed donuts... geeze if it's no just say it.. instead of point down and say,"if you don't see it then we no longer have anymore, and we aren't making anymore."* rolling her eyes... geeze bitch please.. if I didn't like your damn donuts so much, I'd totally boycott you bitches for being "the too cool for school." donut shop.. peace out cool girl.. I'm heading to krispy kremes and btw.. go take a shower.. I think your dreads need breathing

It's NOT okay to strike up convo's with the donuteers! What are you thinking? That hole is for putting deep fried dough into, not spewing useless talky-talk! STFU, patron! Buy a donut and get out! Um, the frosted one, please. Don't hurt me in the balls, please. Returning was a mistake.

Everyone is doing it... you'll be with the cool kids I promise! So doughnuts, pretty much the best thing on earth. Service is top-notch, no pun intended. But like I said, everyone is doing. Place is pretty usually packed. I love the old fashion Chocolate. Then I am off to spin class... : ) Thank you Top-Pot.

though i was in town last may i felt the urge to rehash some good memories and review top pot now! after a day at pike's place, my friend and i bought lunch and sat outdoors in queen anne, overlooking the cityscape. we came to top pot for some sweets. i haven't tried many doughnut shops besides good old dunkin' donuts. but top pot i loved. my friend and i, we each got two and an italian soda. we sat outside on the little tables on a nice sunny may afternoon. this place is so cute (inside also good for reading and taking a break) and the doughnuts are yummm! lots to choose from.

I love their doughnuts! Had my first from an order my office had purchased, I enjoyed my old-fashioned doughnut so much so that I decided to check out their Queen Anne restaurant this past weekend. My boyfriend thought his apple fritter was delicious! And both of us thought the store's interior appearance looked great!

I've already reviewed the Belltown Top Pot, but I kind of love the Queen Anne location, too. As my sweetheart and I drove out of Seattle blowing kisses and promising to write, we made a last minute dash to the Queen Anne Top Pot to get coffee for the road and a teeshirt for our niece (Valley Girl Lemon). It was almost even more fruitful than we could have imagined, as they were about to close and offered to see us on our way with free doughnuts[1]! Sadly, we declined, for we had the presence of mind to realize we would eat them all at once on the drive and it just wouldn't end well. But so nice! What a kind and sweet[2] sendoff. [1] Don't think this means *you'll* get free doughnuts though, we're very charming. [2] Literally!

  • Jenny L.

While the donuts of Top Pot are yummy the service is not. I live very close to the Queen Anne location. You could not pay me to go into that location due to the service. The snobby hipsters that work there act like you're bothering them and the so called "management" act worse then the minimum wage lackeys. Due to my horrible experiences at this branch I'm going to give up their donuts. I always make an effort to mention the crappy service as to save someone a bad time.

  • Natalie W.

Yes- I have discovered that Top Pot has a cake donut that I too can eat and enjoy. I thought only Mighty-O could scale this mountain but I was wrong. It was pink- It had rainbow sprinkles- it was tender yet chewy crisp on the outside- It was the perfect partner for iced passion tea and reading the newspaper on a Sunday. This Top Pot location is smaller- I like it that way. It has an urban sleek feel which I enjoy. The service came with a smile and chat. The large windows make for wonderful light in the sun and a open air feel. Outside seating made for a relaxing visit.

I am so AMAZED by this place. It was breath taking when I first walked in and the doughnuts... WOW just WOW. No doughnuts are made like this here in Hawaii.

  • cindy w.

Top Pot's gonna make me fat. I'm not a fan of their chocolate donuts, they tasted a lil' stale to me compared to the others but I LOVE their raspberry flavored treats. Its extra flavorful as if they used real raspberries versus artificial flavoring. Where else can I get raspberry donuts in QA? Only Top Pot. It's worth it for me to walk just for it. I dig this location -- it's a bit quiet, has big windows, and has a mellow atmosphere. Its also on the way to the Queen Anne library. Lots of parents take their kids here for a morning treat.
