Solid spot for happy hour or later. The cocktail I had was too sweet but the drinks selection overall was good. The food is different from what you might expect from an American pub - it seemed more British (cottage pie, pea soup) but it was all good. Certainly of much higher quality than your average put fare. I liked the general atmosphere of the place - natural light in the back from all the windows, books on the shelves, nice layout of bar and tables. I will be back.

I debated between a 3 or 4 star... and after flip flopping for a while, landed on a 3. Yelena and I shared three tapas dish: - fish sandwich (delish, 4 stars) - octopus (good, but it's served cold, and I thought it would be better warm, 3.5 stars) - blackened zucchini (the sauce is overpowering, 2 stars) Good ambiance, friendly service, but slow. I might go back, but would not make a special trip to do it.

I am upset at myself that I haven't been here sooner! Living so close, I have contemplated coming by but though 'Eh, maybe some other time'. I finally gave it a try over the weekend and so glad that I did! They have an amazing selection of beers on tap and had some fabulous wine as well. The food was perfect! We started with the meat/cheese board and it was divine. I added a little gem salad and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the burger and it was one of the best burgers we've had. I love the small outside patio and the service was sooo friendly and helpful. We will for sure be back!

Great ideas, but Sixgill didn't earn its average of four stars tonight in execution, IMHO. Came for a quick bite during happy hour before a meeting we had, so we were there about an hour. - Drinks:4 stars I had the "Sea of Cortez", which I really liked (like an old fashioned, but with tequila!). Our waiter was super helpful in choosing a beer, and the dark lager he suggested for my hubby was good. - Food: 2 stars We ordered two apps: the chicken wings were ok but all were somewhat burned - more than an appetizing char! Some were too tough to bite through the charred skin. The smallish chickpea dip (~ hummus) came with just a few veggies to scoop with, not like the amazing pic we had seen in another Yelp post - so we had tons of dip left over with nothing to eat it with! Sigh. Used a spoon out of hunger. - Service: 2 stars Food came super slow but it was happy hour... Didn't seem super crowded though? Maybe they want you to order additional drinks while you're waiting...??? Because it took almost 40 minutes to get both apps, even though we were still hungry, they couldn't make anything quick enough for us to still be out of there in an hour for our meeting. Overall, it was fun to try it out here but we won't be back, based on the inconsistency and prices.

Was in the neighborhood and had some time before an event and we decided to stop here to grab a drink and share a appetizer. Luckily, it was still Happy Hour so we grabbed a seat at the bar and started ordering. I let the bartender choose a beer for me based on what I preferred and I think he chose for me something called "Breakside" or "Bonfire"....cant recall exactly, but whatever it was, it was tasty! We also ordered some grilled octopus to share, very good! Delicious tomatoes, briney olives, nice small slices of chili peppers, good dressing and well cooked octopus with a nicely charred tentacle.Yum! It's a little on the small side when sharing. Overall, we enjoyed this place, nice decor, comfy atmosphere, good amount of bar seats, tables and a small patio out back. Staff was friendly & helpful, knowledgable about their beers and HH pricing wasnt bad. Menu looks good from burgers, tacos, salads, steaks, some English dishes and traditional bar food. Definitely will have to come back to try those out!

The Noble Fir is one of my favorite bars in Seattle... The Sixgill is good, but it doesn't have quite the same character & charm. The beer selection was awesome(!) -- anyone who carries Hop-a-Wheelie IPA wins points in my book. The food was good, but not amazing for the price. We went on a hot day so the cantaloupe and prosciutto salad hit the spot. The salmon burger was delicious, and came with (a garnish of?) a couple leaves of romaine lettuce topped with an amazing poppy seed dressing. It was good. But for the price, I would have expected a whole side dish. I would've given it four stars, but minus one because our server had a little bit of attitude about us not ordering a second beer. Taking up space wasn't a problem since it was a quiet afternoon. I'd give it a second chance, if I lived in Fremont.

Great selection of on tap beer including many sours and ciders. We went here late on a Sunday so were closing soon after we ordered. Menu looked good, they do tasting menus and run specials during games :) Looking forward to going back!

We were pretty much impressed with The Sixgill. Our friend is a usual at this bar & could never stop talking about the place so when it was time to visit him, it was a no-brainer where to meet him. We both ordered The Sixgill Burger ($14) while he & his partner ordered the warm spinach & artichoke dip ($9) & roasted beet salad ($10). Holy mother of all things good. The burger was so effing scrumptious. The thick slab of Double R Ranch NW beef between two buns was juicy & bursting with flavor. I hardly noticed the Tillamook cheddar & shark sauce (fancy thousand island) because the beef was overwhelming. The small side of pickled vegetables, normally a side salad, complimented well with the burger. Get this entree at least once. The beer is just as good as the food. Out of the 36 rotating daily taps I opted for the Jive Espresso Stout on nitro from Two Beers Brewing Co. while the others chose IPA & cider. The stout was perfect to help wash my burger down. If you prefer wine or cocktails over beer & cider there's that, too. There's happy hour 4-6:30pm daily which is $2 off any items under the "Something to Start or Share" menu. The staff are very nice & they leave you alone long enough to not feel neglected. They're especially good at swooping in when you're drink runs low. All in all, we can see why this is a regular spot for our friend. Great food, tasty beer, friendly staff, & nice ambiance.

Always have unique and harder to find beers on tap. I had the salmon pot pie and it was great comfort food on a cloudy summer day.

Great location and great beer selection. Salmon pot pie is good comfort food in summer or winter. The cheese/meat board like good on the menu but pretty average. Service and friendly atmosphere makes this place a place that's worth a visit

Came here and got the sixgills burger and chicken wings. The staff tells us that there's no fried food in this restaurant, which was interesting. I should have paid more attention to the menu and yelp photos, as the potato skin does look pretty good (an alternative to fries) Both the burger and wings came in large portion and it was messy to eat, very delicious!

    (4)
  • Ramsey K.

I'm really into the beer list here. Great food - definitely get the wings or the burger. My only frustration with Sixgill is that the bar can be understaffed leading to way too many empty glasses.

  • Jeremy K.

Really enjoyed the dinner/happy hour at this restaurant. The wings are absolutely fantastic. The octopus was great too. Solid selection of beers and cider on tap. Will be going back.

Best food in Seattle! This place is in my top 5 restaurants of all time. The bartenders are some the coolest people and just put the cherry on the top of the dining experience.

On a Friday night I was trying to think of a good spot for beer, food, and sports without the sports bar atmosphere. Remembered grabbing a beer here late one night and wanting to come back for a proper visit, so I decided this was my chance! I liked my visit the first time but I became a huge fan after visit 2. It's very clean inside (did I just out myself as a germophobe?) with nice wood furniture and lots of natural light. There's a bin of maps for entertainment for you cartogrophiles out there. The TVs are well placed so that they are easy to view but don't dominate the atmosphere. Signs indicated they also show Seahawks games with sound on game days. All this and I haven't even gotten to the best part - the beer! Very extensive beer list with unique selections you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere (see the photo). The knowledgeable staff will also give you honest feedback about the available libations. And if that's not enough, the food is incredible. We ordered four dishes and liked everything...I was particularly partial to the charred zucchini with hazelnut pate. So so good. For those of you familiar with Noble Fir in Ballard I believe these are the same owners, so you'll find a very similar setup but much better food options here. I highly recommend!

Great tap selection here. I frequent this place a lot, however finally tried a couple of their appetizers this evening and was very pleased. The beet salad (says comes with baguette, but just baguette shavings, haha) and smoked salmon plate paired great with the beers and their outdoor seating makes for good viewing. I enjoy this spot quite a bit...

  • Joe P.

Descriptive phrase: yuppie pub. We stopped into The Sixgill for a drink and light dinner one Friday night. The space is kind of neat, feeling like a hip fisherman's shack. It was packed and loud, which definitely made the space less enticing and the service was negatively affected as well. I ordered their Smoking Diablo drink ($10), as their long list of beers focused primarily on niche styles (sours, mega-IPAs, etc) and was very pricey anyway. My drink was made with Xicaru mezcal, lime, cassis liqueur, and ginger beer. It was extremely sour, and I did not finish it. For my meal I had the House Made Sausage ($13). Featuring 2 dry sausage links on a bed of bean stew, leeks, and toasted bread crumbs, this dish was bland and lifeless and disappointing. My wife did not enjoy her Chicken Kale Salad ($12) much more. Uninviting atmosphere with the crowds, sorry service, and poor food execution won't be bringing me back to The Sixgill.

  • Lindsay S.

Not impressed. At all. Overpriced, luckily we came at happy hour. Hummus was incredibly bland, beet salad was decent. Beer selection was ok. No idea where the good reviews are coming from, there is no one here. Definitely will not be returning.

Great food, good drinks and quality liquor/beer selection. Located in a convenient area if you're bar hopping or just hanging out in Fremont/Ballard. Super friendly staff!

I really enjoyed their corn pancake it was very flavorful and the greens that came with it were a nice contrast. They had an amazing beer list. There were 35 different beers on tap I believe. We also had the meat platter and a small salad. Both were fine, nothing too exciting. Overall it was a great experience and I'm sure we'll be back.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for somewhere new to try in Fremont neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised to find what may become a new favorite dinning option for me. The atmosphere was moderately upscale without taking itself too seriously. You could be totally comfortable having a date night or just showing up in jeans and T-shirt to grab a drink and/or food. One my favorite parts about the bar, was the beer selection. With a large variety choices of both local and nation wide offerings, Six Gill finds a healthy balance, while some establishments in Seattle fail to do so. The liquor selection also displayed a well rounded stable of options, and the house cocktail recipes were very enjoyable. Any bar that has a tasty Mezcal offering, always gets a plus in my book. On to the food! We started with the Jerk Chicken Wings. They were well spiced, with a savory taste and hint of sweetness. They are also HUGE, it's a great deal for the price and a must have for an appetizer. Another absolute favorite was the burger. I know ordering a burger at a place called Six Gill, sounds a bit off, but trust me when I say this was one of the best patties I've had. Hand made in house the meat was rich, juicy with a soft texture, that just melts in your mouth. Nick was very knowledgable bar tender and provided great service, letting us sample different beers and making solid recommendations.

So far this place is a winner! Been here a few times now at various times and days of the week; ranging from fairly empty to packed. I've typically found the servers/bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about the BIG selection of beers and ciders they offer. And the food is really good - artichoke dip, burger, seared tuna sandwich in particular.

This place is amazing!! Evreyone is very nice and service is fast and the food is to died for, and on top of that they have so many beers to chose from who can ask for anything more!!

This is a great place to grab a small bite after the Sunday flea market. The cider selection isn't too big but I really liked the cherry cider. Next time we'll have to try something off their bigger beer selection. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Fletcher's sandwich (cuban style pork).

4 stars for the food. 0 stars for the service. Our waiter was super rude and unwelcoming. Came all the way here from California and almost left after we ordered food. Dude with the nasty beard and tiny plugs, learn some manners.

  • Matt T.

Bar has a decent selection, ambiance is quiet enough that you can watch a game if that's what you're coming for. The food is average. It's definitely not bad, but it doesn't live up to 4.5 stars as the current rating shows. Burger was actually below average for the $14 price range. Service and kitchen were also pretty slow on our visit (two burgers took just over 45 minutes to come out).

The blackened cod sandwich has been on my mind since I ate here over the weekend. The hub previously was here a week earlier, tried the sandwich, recommended it to me, and he ordered it again too. It's that good. You could also get it seared, but we went with the blackened. There's a lite slather of lemon aoili and some fresh greens/veg. The bun is a PRETZEL roll. It's an herby savory pretzel roll. I loved it. The hub opted for the potatoes, which are chopped and pan fried (or roasted)..there's a nice crunchy skin whatever the cook method. I had the salad with dressing on the side (a zesty vinaigrette they make in-house). It was crisp, fresh, and topped with pine nuts and craisins. I could have gone for a touch more salad though. Otherwise their menu option (we were there during brunch) was pretty small. But the sandwich really really makes up for it. They can even list a menu with JUST this cod sandwich, it's so tasty. Their drinks menu is extensive. We were offered tastes before committing. The menu clearly lists the description including the size of the pours, which I really like. They have a few tvs for watching sports, and most of their seats are bar-height (booths and tables). The tables have hooks underneath for bags/jackets (I love it when I see these). Super large windows let in light and it's just a nice place to hang out. I need to get that sandwich again.

We stumbled upon this place to have a drink and appetizer before heading elsewhere for our main course. The bar is nautical themed without being cloying. There are books on sailing and a chart bin. How many places have you been that have charts?! We had a couple of cocktails on the signature list. They were okay. The food surprised me. We had a garden pea soup with bacon bits. It was velvety, tasted of fresh peas, and the bacon was a fantastic addition. We were told it that there was no dairy, and it didn't need it. I loved it! The other dish was a kale salad with tahini lemon dressing, pecorino romano, and shaved pear. The pear looked good, but couldn't stand up to the other flavors. The flavor of the salad was excellent - a mix of sour, savory, and slightly sweet. The kale, while fresh, took a whole lot chewing to get down. I think I'll replicate this at home, but I'll either cut the kale in smaller pieces, par-cook it, or use baby kale. The ambience was nice, not too loud (for those of use with age related hearing loss), and cozy. A fireplace would have rounded it out. They have a large beer list. Sadly for us, we didn't try any. We probably should have.

Another great beer bar in the north end. In the same tribe as the noble fir in Ballard, Six Gill offers the classic northwest craft beer pub and restaurant in Fremont. The beer and the vibe are the thing here. If you must eat hit happy hour. Not bad food just nothing memorable.

  • Curtis B.

Delicious food! Amazing beer selection and the vibe is just great. Highly recommended!

Everything was fine just not great. Beer was good, eggplant sandwich good but the thing I thought was weird were the wings. They were really big wings which made them hard to eat. The smokiness sort of overpowered the rest of the flavors. I'm not sure if there were little bits of feathers on mine or not but it just grossed me out. I'll probably not be back

Got the rye barrel aged cider and the burger, cider was good, sweet as super interesting, but the the burger was epic - best burger in memory. Would have been a great experience except our funny, charming, genuine waiter just put the cherry on top. Couldn't give anything except 5 stars. We just walked in off the street never having seen this place which may have added to our surprise of our enjoyment of this place. It was half full when we were there. Price was perhaps two and a half dollar signs, given the drink prices.

I really like the atmosphere of this place. There's a lot of wood, bookshelves, and a good amount of seating. The bar is slightly curved, and there's table seating in both parts of the restaurant. They have a great variety of craft beers on tap, generally a few ciders (yum!) and some GREAT cocktails. The Hazelnut Old Fashioned is truly delicious! The server was very nice and attentive, and was helpful with menu choices. The food here is pretty good, though I've had mixed luck with the food. Sometimes I really love what I order, and occasionally there are things that just don't meet expectations. The Herb Polenta is a great "small plates" sized bundle of deliciousness. So good! I'll be having that again.

Some crazy brawd I'm dating suggested we get dinner at this new-ish up-scale-ish bar/restaurant. I had been scoping it on Yelp for a minute anyway so I readily agreed. This place is tucked right off the main drag in Fremont, and has a nice, dark, candlelit type vibe with a pleasant amount of background noise, great for a date! Beers are what to drink, with a very large and diverse selection on draft. We ordered 2, and a french onion soup to start. The soup was fantastic; gooey cheesy croutons and a dark, savory onion broth. Couldn't ask for more....but we were still hungry so we did. We opted to split the blackened cod sandwich since we're such romantics. When it came to the table I thought I'd take a pic for Yelping purposes, and upon close inspection noticed one major shortcoming: no cod! They literally served us a bun with toppings and a side of potatoes. It was an honest mistake, but I will say they didn't seem very apologetic, just sort of giggled and replaced the sandwich about 5 minutes later. Woulda thought an "our bad" or "sorry about that" would have been appropriate, but hey maybe I'm old fashioned. In the end the sandwich was delish and the soup was even better, so I'm givin er 4 stars! Would definitely recommend this places for a nice semi-causal meal/drink.

I have a new top happy hour spot in my rotation. The beer, cocktails, and food at The Sixgill are all excellent. I've enjoyed everything I've had here and the staff is personable and accommodating. I've had the baja fish tacos, the chorizo queso with potatoes, and the pork rillets which is a big portion during happy hour. Loved every item. The happy hour menu is great. $3 tacos. Other items range from $4-9 each and the portions are decent. They have a fairly extensive dinner menu I have yet to explore. They make a mean Manhattan ($6 during happy hour, what a steal!) and Old Fashioned and the beer selection is excellent. Love this spot! Will be back again and again.

    (5)
  • Justin Y.

The Sixgill is a sleek and modern bar with an excellent beer selection and a pretty good happy hour (4-6:30pm). For $6, the basil lemonade was pretty good and more or less worth the price. Five large chicken wings for $9 wasn't bad as well, although the salmon tartare for $10 was a little bit pricey based on the portions given. Overall, this wasn't a bad bar, the bartenders were friendly, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. If I was in the area, I wouldn't mind visiting again, but I probably wouldn't make the effort to drive here since I think there are better options elsewhere.

This is a nice, medium sized, bar that serves decent appetizers and really good food. I ordered a Lemon, Brazil & vodka drink along with a Pork Tenderloin & Bacon sandwich (Called the Big Sandwich). All great. So was the service.

  • Ben D.

I don't know what happened to this place. We came here lots of times last summer and after a winter break, the menu changed and the service went down hill. Neither my wife nor I found anything appetizing. Great beer selection but 6 bucks or more for a 14 ounce beer, combined with bad service and iffy menu means we won't be back. Too bad as it had great potential.

  • Brian Q.

Staff are never a let down, always personable and helpful without prying too much into your choices. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable, never too loud to speak, but no one really can eaves drop on your conversation. Seating is adequate (never have struggled to find a seat in 5+ visits). Drinks - SOLID. Food - SOLID. Great selection and variety of beers, ciders, cocktails. They aren't stingy on the booze either. I highly recommend the Merchantman despite being served in a martini glass ;-). Plus the bake cookies to order and to preference of "doneness". Sixgill is just what you need.

What is a "Sixgill," you ask? Why it's apparently a hip, craft beer-loving variety of shark found in the Puget Sound region! It's also a hip, craft beer-loving bar with in Fremont with a great tap selection and tasty food! Their staff is super-friendly and very helpful. Their rotating tap list always has something new on it and if you tell them what you like they will help you find something you'll love. Unless you don't like beer, in which case... there's cider and wine! Unless you don't drink, in which case... I'm so very sorry--but they have you covered too. The food is great too, though I've only tried a few of their happy hour offerings. Their tacos are great and so are the sliders. And hey, that's about what I want in some happy hour food. Unfortunately my office moved and I'm not longer half a block away, but I still try to make it in on occasion. Fortunately for me their other awesome bar, the Noble Fir, is close to home.

Great location in Fremont, if you didn't look for it you might miss it. Service is good. The place has a subtle smell of delicious smoked BBQ, which I loved. Also, the place has a extensive selection of beers on tap and bottled.

I got to the bar about 15 minutes after their kitchen had closed for the night. The bartender was super cool, apologized they weren't still serving, and made a delicious Hazelnut Old Fashioned. It was a great drink. However, I was just really impressed with the personality of the bartender and his empathy for my situation. He told me about several places nearby that were worth checking out, and what types of food they had. I've been to too many places that wouldn't have bothered saying anything more than "sorry, kitchen's closed." but he was awesome.

  • Erika C.

They have variety of drinks which are fun and also the food was great. My table tried the cheese plate, manila clams with roasted pork, and the original burger. Also the staff was efficient and friendly. Good place to drink and eat small plates. Minus one star because of price. It was a little too expensive for small plates...

  • Eric P.

The food here is always good. The menu is always changing, which might be disappointing if you're looking to get the same thing you had before. But keeping it fresh is a positive, not a negative. Last night I had the soft shell crab sandwich and I want to go back and get it again today. I think I've said that about most dishes I've had here. They've always been accommodating to my wife's special diet needs too. The beer, like their Ballard spot, is always on point. A ton of taps and most (if not all) local. All good. The staff is friendly, knows beer, happy to give you samples, and happy to talk beer with you. The atmosphere is good. They have an outdoor area. The only negative here is this is a new building, which means there's less "character" about the place. I wish they allowed kids during the day, because they need tasty food too. But kids are also little punks sometimes. :-)

Great selection of ciders on draft and in the bottle/can. Also huge selection of beer and wine. I had the chicken wings, which were so crispy and flavorful. I also had the Sixgill salad, which was fine, but could have used a little something more to it like cheese and/or fruit/veggies. It was basically just lettuce and dressing with shaved radishes. Our friend got the pork belly app and it looked absolutely fatty and outstanding-I will be getting that next time. Cute back patio, awesome look of the restaurant. We will definitely go back-probably for their happy hour!

This is probably the last place i would think of to watch a football game, but for some reason it worked. East coaster on vacation, so not entirely used to the concept of brunch and football going together, but based on my experience at Sixgill i could certainly get used to it. They had a very good selection of beer and the breakfast options were fantastic (lucky enough to dine here with a group and sample a few different things). A bit on the pricey side but considering the neighborhood it's probably not out of the ordinary.

This aint your mama's Noble Fir! ... No really, it's not the same. But that's the point. Unassuming from the outside, I might have been expecting something a little more sterile based on the building. It's a great location though, and once you're inside it becomes all so familiar. ...Like stepping foot in your boyfriend's younger brother's bedroom. It's a little more boozy (they have booze), maybe more adventurous (and a larger menu), but it's just not quite the droid you were looking for (if you were looking for NF). Ok enough about the past. Sixgill has great service, a handsome barkeep and chicken wings that were too fancy for this street rat.

Want beer? Like to keep it local-ish? like mountains and west? This is your spot. Good tap list, great happy hour and the normal menu items would make me want to come back on a weekend too. So when a "potential date friend" suggests a first time in Fremont, this is your place.

I really wanted to like this place more, and I'm about 99% sure this was all a fluke, so we will be back. Our friends love this place so we decided to walk here after dinner at RockCreek. It was a little tough to find but luckily there's a sandwich board on the corner of Evanston so we made it. We ordered a few drinks. They have a great selection of draft beers and ciders. I'm a cider drinker, so this is a plus! The atmosphere seems great as well. The downsides.... When we arrived, it looked like their credit card system was down and they were running credit cards by hand with the old school machine. I totally feel for them, however there were only 2 staff working (one behind the bar, one handling ALL of the tables), and this process took one of them away which meant that even though we were at the bar, we didn't get to order anything for about 15 minutes. At least the M's game was on! This eventually resolved itself, but I still noticed some tables who weren't getting any attention. It seemed like 2 staff on a Saturday night was a bit low, so again, I'm hoping this was a fluke and maybe someone called in sick. The staff were very nice, however. My other complaint is that they were playing country music. I actually texted my friend who is a regular to ask about this and he said it wasn't normal. I'm sorry, country music fans, but that ain't my rodeo. Luckily the music eventually changed and it made for a better experience. Again, I'll be back since I've heard so many great things. Our first experience just wasn't the greatest.

I went here for the first time the other night and was pretty pleased! Our server was super funny and attentive. They offer a great selection of drinks, and I really liked the basil lemonade. The only real downside was that it was SUPER noisy in there. I suppose they can't do anything about it, because it was from people, not music. Overall, great place.

Excellent meal. You can watch the game and drink real wine out of a real glass. This is a rare treat for people who are (1) sports fans (2) wine snobs. (Are there many of us who want to enjoy both at the same time, same place?) Try the zucchini dish and the roasted nuts. Service is lovely and unpretentious. One of the best meals I have eaten in Fremont. Many Gastropubs are just pretending compared to this place! I am glad that there is another selection on this block.

I went here to start off a Saturday night to grab a quick bite, our waiter was very helpful and checked in often to make sure we had drinks. The food comes out very quickly and is quite tasty. I really enjoyed my meal and the service and will be back to try out other offerings on the menu. They also have a great back outside seating area, which was nice to enjoy on one of those last sunny evenings in the fall.

They have a great beer list and unique place. Food was also good, we had dinner here. For appetizers we had the Pimento cheese and bread which was delicious as well as the charred zucchini w/ peanut sauce. This was a little too charred. Main meal was a Marlin sandwich; this was really good. My husband had a burger that he enjoyed but it didn't come exactly as he ordered. All in all, a good experience.

Sister bar to The Noble Fir in Ballard. Very well curated beer selection! Not nearly as many brews as there are at Brouwer's down the block, but well focused, and with good diversity of styles. Bartenders are very helpful in making recommendations and will usually let you have a taste before you order as long as it's not a super rare brew. I still love Brouwer's but Sixgill is an excellent alternative and usually less crowded.

Great beers! Great food! Most importantly, great service. Good service is hard to find In Seattle. When I was next door and received rolled eyes for asking for a glass of ice to make complete the ice water I ordered. It was refreshing to receive over the top service! THANK YOU! We had the pork tacos. They were a little Small but perfect for what my hubby and I needed. They were a little spicy, but so good! Our server continued to happily get me tastes of beer for I mainly drink wine and am picky About the beer I drink. I settled On The White Witch. Great stuff!

Great place! Probably the best food & drink spot in Fremont at this point. Rotating beer taps focused on some of the best craft brews on the west coast. Delicious food so far - and constantly changing menu. Special tasting events frequently.

Went to this spot on my monthly guys' night out; sorry A, not this time. We shared a bunch of dishes....garlic wings (very large for wings), reuben, cheeseburger, bread and spreads. It was all tasty. Several of us had the house red and it was delish too. Several large screens were playing the Cards-Giants play-off series but this is far from a sports-themed or sports-feel bar. Free parking adjacent. Go fur it.

From the proprietors of the Noble Fir in Ballard, The Sixgill is the second establishment and this now serves entrees along with even more beer choices as well as wine and a great assortment of spirits. But to the food first, I ordered the blackened link cod club, on toasted Pullman bread, peppered bacon, leaf lettuce, sweet dilly pickles and lemon-scallion aioli. It also came with a choice of potato salad or green salad. Now the beer, not much to say but they always have a great selection, sometimes to hard to have just one. Yeah really just one, two, three, etc. But really they always have something that you may not find anywhere else in Seattle or is really limited. The interior is clean and casual as the Noble Fir with great windows on two side, a outdoor seating area and of course books and maps galore! This is a must if you are in Fremont!

I'm not sure sure who selects which kegs are on hand here- but they have some really interesting and hard to find beers that you won't find elsewhere. They have a small patio in the back that on a sunny day is wonderful. We were there for about an hour and enjoyed a "Saison Flight" which consisted of three 6 oz. pours of some very nice Saison style beers- my favorite. Cost was $13- which seemed very reasonable. They have all sorts of beer styles available and a nice selection of ciders on draught too. Service was terrific (knowledgeable, prompt, friendly), and although we didn't try any of the food- the menu looks really great. This vibe on a Sunday afternoon was very relaxed. This place is great- they've done a really nice job. I will be coming back for a beer or three again soon.

I don't eat in Fremont much, but when I do, it will be The Sixgrill. Stay thirsty my friends... okay enough of that. There are serious things going on here, it's the beer, cider and amazingly tasty food. This place is pretty awesome, even if you ignore the amazing décor, the inviting bar, the open feel, and convenient location; I dare say, it's still a must. You want to come here, if you are looing for a beer. They have a list that is pretty impressive, not because there are a lot of choices, but they all seem to be good choices. If you aren't into beer, they have many hard ciders available, including some on tap. The food is pretty darn good also; seemingly perfect meals to have a drink with, which is perfect. Tables are good sized, and good spacing. If you are in the area, this is a great way to spend the afternoon.

Stayed in the Fremont area and ate our first dinner at The Sixgill. I have been spoiled living in the Chicagoland area and Sixgill could compete with the best I've had in Chicago. The place is mostly shared plates and has an excellent beer selection. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the night. Not much of a view but, it's Seattle in the summer and you can't beat sitting outside. Server was helpful and went over the drink selections and food choices. Ordered local beers and a cider, both were excellent. As for the food we had the following: Mussels in Spicy Broth: Really wonderful flavor with a kick. Would definitely repeat and for a small plate you get a good portion Tomato Salad: Really light and fresh Charred Zucchini: Might be my favorite single dish that I had while visiting Seattle. The hazelnut butter is insanely tasty Salmon Sandwich-Fish was fresh and perfectly prepared Fruit Cobbler: Great dessert and makes you ready to go home and sleep Would highly recommend The Sixgill and would go out of my way to go back.

Wow-- we had been putting off going to Six gill because for some reason I thought it was super expensive. Totally wrong! The atmosphere is nice, warm, but casual, and the menu was way cheaper than expected. Boyfriend and I had such a lovely date there- and we hardly paid anything. Their beer list is pretty impressive- they have some pretty uncommon beers which is cool. We both got the most expensive beers on the menu, plus one appetizer to share, plus an entree each-- and only paid $45! That's a very legit date. Food recommendations- chorizo queso (SO good), and the spinach and garlic salad (I got it with steak and it was cooked perfectly). Service was attentive, everything was timed ideally, and they left you your own carafe of water-- which I really appreciate. We will certainly be back!

We had two drinks, 3-4 dishes and a dessert all for less than $60! The food is delicious! My favorite was the pork belly and the homemade sausage dishes. The drinks were okay, nothing special, the ambiance is really cute and it's such a great value restauRant and is one of my favs in the city now!

Since discovering The Sixgill, it has become one of my favorite happy hour destinations. I've ordered a few of their house cocktails (the summer basil lemonade was my favorite), several beers, and a cider or two. The servers also have solid suggestions if you're not sure what to order. They have a rotating seasonal menu. Their website is somewhat correct, but I wouldn't take it as gospel. The food is usually solid and fresh. I've brought several people here, and I've never had someone dislike The Sixgill. I've only ordered their small plates, never dinner, but one of their small plates is an acceptable snack size for two. The chorizo potatoes were the best appetizer I've tried, but the spinach-artichoke dip and ricotta are both satisfying as well. They've got a few TVs around with either ESPN or an actual sporting event, but it's not a sports bar. Just a nice, comfortable, low-key bar that happens to have TVs. I can't recommend this place enough.

I have a great idea - let's take everything good about the Noble Fir, recreate it in Fremont, and make it better. What? The Noble Fir proprietors already went and did that? Damn. It's cozier, offers a larger selection of not-your-typical taps, has a full menu, and they added booze. The only drawback is that it's not a convenient stumble from my house, although that's really more of my issue than theirs. The guys met up at Sixgill for a holiday happy hour and I suspect it won't be our last visit. I explored a number of the brews, including an Anchor Brewing winter ale flight. A number of plates made their way to the table, most notably the pork rillets, chorizo bliss, the mixed nuts (actually worth mentioning!), and the polenta dish. All were quite tasty, although the portions were a little on the smallish side. Granted, there were eight of us... Service at the bar and at the tables was spot on, with enough attention to make sure glasses were never empty without a replacement at least on the way. Our waitress even pre-split the tab without our asking to ease our arithmetical pain as guys peeled off over the evening. As for parking, it's Fremont, so you're on your own. If you get there at just the right time, you may get lucky along 34/35th. Otherwise it's paying to park under the Red Door or cruising 35th Street and the streets north of 36th for a magical open spot.

Really enjoyed my time at the Sixgill yesterday, which still smells new (is there an equivalent to the "new car smell" for restaurants?). The beer list was extraordinary - I particularly liked the fact that rather than listing 30 different beers and brewers, they appeared to focus on 5-6 brewers and provide their entire portfolio of beers. I think the list changes periodically. The menu was somewhat limited (could use a few more share style appetizer plates), but what we ordered was delicious. I particularly liked the asparagus and enjoyed the ability to order potato skins (albeit an upscaled version) without having to go to the Southcenter Mall. Nice space - very woody. The staff were exceedingly kind. Good food and beverage. Very sunny, peaceful outside seating. What's not to like?

Very nice décor, comfortable atmosphere and really great service. Food was fantastic! It's nice to eat something with flavor, with spice! But the beer menu is way to hipster for me. Not a single beer from a local brewery (from Georgetown to Ballard). It's all stuff nobody's every heard of, so you have to roll the dice every time. Don't get me wrong, they'll give you a sample, which is great. But for me, if I come out to a bar after work I like to relax with a familiar pint as well as good food and friends. It's nice to have oddball options too, but a menu full of them is a turn off to me. So please, put one or two recognizable beers on your menu :)

Who knew that chicken liver mousse was delicious! I came here with some friends on a Thursday night. We enjoyed excellent beers. The food is a little pricy, but it was good. We ordered the chicken wings and the meat platter with the mousse and salami.

Great ambience. Bright happy place with an extensive list of beer on tap and bottled beer. Wait staff was very friendly even though it was very late in the evening. If you are having a negative experience at a local Belgian style bar this is great place go

Great Fremont addition! Seafood chowder - Excellent! Rich, creamy, flavorful with a handful of fresh in-shell muscles tossed in Beet salad - Perfectly dressed, nice sized portion; could have used a few more beets Stout braised short rib - SOOOO good and really unique! Hardly any fat on the meat which is a plus for me, and the artichokes were a nice, unexpected touch. This dish is kind of sweet which I wasn't expecting, but I really enjoyed it They played some great, classic blues music which I really enjoyed, too. I'll be back.

This place isn't bad. The plates were good and the beer selection was as well. The decor is good and there are nice little booths that are separated from the other areas of the restaurant. Great for a conversation. I suggest trying it out. It is a little expensive, but nothing that is unmanageable

Great atmosphere, great beer, and great food. First timers but we were fully satisfied with the service, the drinks and the food. We ordered a Ceasar salad and a hamburger and both were well done. For a pub, this is more of a gastro-pub. We didn't make it to the back deck but looks fantastic.

I love this spot for a number of reasons- the location can't be beat, smack in the heart of Fremont (aka center of the universe), they have a large selection of beers from all over the world, the food isn't your typical bar food- it's actually FOOD!! Bites like charred zucchini and rockfish ceviche, they even make beets taste good!! And it's aesthetically pleasing! I feel like I've stepped back in time- somehow even in spite of the blaring flat screens. Nice job Sixgill!

Fremont's been lacking in a nice, comfortable place to drink beer for a while. I was super pumped for The Sixgill to arrive, and I have not been disappointed! The beer selection is - as expected - top notch, and the service is fantastic. The space is open and clean and overall a great place to pass a couple of hours. I've only tried a few of the snacky foods (deviled eggs and potato skins) and have found things to be tasty, if priced on the high side. There's not much meal-wise for vegetarians so I've been choosing to drop in for drinks but feed myself elsewhere. Perhaps this will change in future. For those of you who don't drink beer, it's worth noting that The Sixgill does offer wine and tapped cider, in addition to having a full bar and a nice cocktail list. I haven't been able to tear myself away from the tap list yet but maybe someday I'll test the bartender's cocktail chops!

Perhaps the most underrated draft beer selection of any bar in the city. This place is a gem on so many levels....the food, the beer, the craft spirits, the atmosphere, and especially the service. As always, look past the tiny handful of bad reviews...the usual self absorbed snotty Yelp nonsense....and recognize this place for being a real contribution.

Nice atmosphere. Attentive staff. I came here to plan out a trip with a friend. The staff pointed us out to the best place to sit with access to an outlet. They had a good drink selection. Nice little spot I'd have otherwise not found but am definitely willing to go back to try some of their food.

The Sixgill has a nice selection of reasonably priced regional beers, a menu that appears to complement the libations quite well, and has a cozy, but polished, atmosphere. The extended alcohol menu looks like it has a nice selection of specialty cocktails, wine, bourbon, and whiskey. The staff was friendly and everything happened at a reasonable pace. We'll definitely return for another visit.

The Sixgill opens tonight! I checked out the soft opening and everything was great. 30+ taps of craft beer, a full bar and a great looking food menu. The flank steak sandwich and the clam dish were really, really tasty. Go check out this great addition to the Fremont neighborhood. Congrats, guys.

The food and ambiance were a miss for me. Cozyish. I loved the cherry cider, and the innovative trail mix, and the service was great. Didn't flinch to split our check. Wish they did something quainter with the patio area - maybe with plants. Cod sandwich wasn't amazing. Nor were devilled eggs - maybe they need some candied bacon on there.

A fantastic addition to the neighborhood! This was only their third night open, but I was impressed. Usually the first week of a new business is chaotic and disorganized, but the Sixgill was totally on top of things - beer service was fast, food was fast, and the food was tasty and well prepared. The beer selection is great - a bit better than The Noble Fir I'd say (their first location), and on par with a place like the Pine Box. It's less diverse than Brouwer's, but there were still several interesting beers that I didn't see at Brouwer's last week. I'm not sure I like their food menu that much. They obviously put effort into making some creative, foodie-appealing dishes, but I didn't see much that I would look forward to on a regular basis. It could use some more ethnic influences, like a Thai, Indian, or Moroccan inspired dish. The food options they do have are well made though - especially the flank steak sandwich.

Great addition to the Fremont neighborhood! I'm a big fan of the Noble Fir in Ballard, and was excited to try out the Sixgill -- especially since it's in walking distance from my house! Stopped in for dinner yesterday evening with some friends, and was not disappointed. Great beer/cider selection, excellent service, and delicious food (try the ling cod club sandwich -- so good!!). I'll definitely be back again soon!

I really liked their cider selection. It was a really nice variety and if I was a beer drinker, there would be even a wider selection. My friends and I went there about a week ago for Happy Hour. Their fish tacos were very delicious, but glad we came for happy hour. Their normal menu food was a bit too fancy for my liking and I'm not sure I would have found much else I wanted to eat there otherwise. But if you are not a picky eater, than this would not be a problem for you. The atmosphere was nice. It was very laid back and comfortable. I would go back again in the near future for sure!

We were put off that even though we were there during Happy Hour, the IPA's we ordered did not qualify for the $1 off. There was no notice of this on the menu or from our order. Beers were gret and had intended to bing a guest but found this ridiculous!

The Sixgill: a Noble Fir production. Yes, sir, the owner of the Noble Fir in Ballard is doing so well he decided to put a stake in Fremont. LOCATION: The address suggests Evanston Ave N just south of 35th. Here's some advice: it's on 35th St just west of Evanston. PARKING: Street parking. There is a small lot that serves the building. To access this lot you have to enter a driveway on 35th on the west end of the complex. BUILDING/DECOR: Gastropub. That pretty much sums up what I see. I personally am more into alehouses with a dive feel. This place has more of a modern feel. There are lots of polished and beautifully stained wood. It has more of a yuppified feel and really is a testament of the demographic change in Fremont. SERVICE: The service is pretty darn friendly. FOOD: I haven't tried their food. They do have a menu and it doesn't appear to be your standard pub grub menu. I would call this a gastropub; I'm sure you know what I am implying here. BEER/BOOZE: The beer selection is solid. I really have to give props to the person ordering the kegs: they go to great trouble to showcase Washington beer. They also showcase WA-distilled spirits. I give them points for supporting local crafted brews and spirits. This isn't really my scene, but I will give this 4 stars because they deserve it. There is a super trendy alehouse right down the street. That place is a pain in the butt when it comes to finding a seat. Do yourself a favor and keep this place in mind for an option.

Updating to note that the blackened cod sandwich was amazing. Seriously, you should try it. The fish was cooked perfectly, delicious sauce, quite possibly the perfect fish sandwich. The sauteed kale it was served with was also phenomenal. Great service, too.

Was very excited to try this place after finding out that it has ties to the Noble Fir (which I love!). Great location, similar woodsy decor, and familiar beer menu. Though they have a great beer selection, I was disappointed that there were only a handful of draft selections from WA. And while the food we ordered was tasty, I was not impressed with the limited menu. Will go back to this place for Happy Hour or lunch instead of dinner next time.

Love this new bar in Fremont - but I'm not going to lie... they need to up their serving game. We got in before the rush during beer week this past week, and had the bartender help out table out. But after about an hour being their, our server switched to another... and she was so slow, like unusually slow, the rest of the night. Great huge beer list, really interesting menu (loved the sausage and the salad). Hopefully they will up the game with the service, and I will definitely be back to check.

Solid! Great new beer bar with good food. I stopped in on a Sat morning for lunch and had the biscuits n gravy. Awesome. Gravy was the bomb-diggedy. They had outside picnic tables which is a big plus on my book. Took advantage of the great weather and sopped up some sunshine while drinking a few tasty beers. Good collection of Pacific Northwest brews and well laid out. Instead of going wide, these guys went deep. They focused in on 5 or 6 breweries and had everything of theirs. For instance, they took two breweries from Hood River, Logsdon and Pfriem, and offered up their entire collection. Belgian Strong, Belgian Dark, Oak Barrel, Cocoa Bretta, Belgian Sours, IPAs, Stouts, Nitros, Cask conditioned, and dozens of others to choose from. Paper menu indicates these beers are soon to expire and be replaced by an equally awesome stack of delicious brews. Food menu was a little light but again this speaks to quality, fresh ingredients that are part of a rotating menu. A++ in my book. My buddy had a steakwich that looked awesome. Philly cheesesteak on roids!! My biscuits n gravy was right up there with Serious Biscuit. Ãœber thick gravy with chunks of what seemed like grits. Interior was well laid out with a big bar, high industrial ceilings, rebar, and booth seating on one side of restaurant with open bar seating on the other. Nice big windows for ample people watching which is key when looking to kill time while throwing em back. I'll definitely be back!

To start off, I will say that the food and drink selection here is great! I recently went on a date here and the experience was 50/50. The food and company was enjoyable. The amount of on tap beers and ciders was surprising, and the outside seating was pleasant. The service however was off. I understand it was a Friday night, and that means it was busy. We first sat at the bar, all the seats were taken, and that was fine with us. The bartender took no notice to us for over five minutes, and he was literally standing two feet away. We finally got our drink order in when a table outside opened up, we took it. We eventually got our drinks sent to our table, and our waitress brought a water carafe. Then she disappeared for twenty minutes without asking if we wanted food or anything else, even with my glass empty. We eventually had to ask her to come to our table so we could place our order. We got the wings for an app, and the burgers without the buns (gluten free option)! And both were very tasty, and cooked very well! We are our food, and drank our water and never heard from our waitress till we pulled her again for our bill. We felt extremely ignored. The only thing we were happy about is that the food was good and the atmosphere was good too. Overall I'll give this place two stars. With good service it would have gotten at least four stars.

I've been to Sixgill twice. The first time was for brunch and the food was tasty and the service was good. The second time was for happy hour last Friday. The food was good but the service was horrible! It took us over 45 minutes to get our food -- by the time it was served happy hour was over, so even if we wanted to order more food on the happy hour menu we couldn't. The worst part about it was our server said the "computer had gone down" but other tables were being served food and drinks while the "computer was down". The server did not have any accountability for the poor service. The food is great, but given the fact that there are so many other places to go in Fremont/Ballard area, I think I'll skip wasting 45 minutes of my time just waiting for food with no apology or accountability...

What they may lack in ambiance they sure make up for with a great beer selection! There's always something new and exciting on tap you've probably never had or heard of and you shouldn't miss!

Stopped here for a quick drink and appetizer. Our waiter was cute and friendly. When he couldn't describe the wine I was asking about he went and read the label, which was very helpful. The mushroom bruchetta was good, $7 for three pieces. The place was loud and semi-busy.

Stopped by for the first time yesterday primarily on yelp recommendations and Wow, were they off! Being hungry for Lunch they were serving brunch, but while there the menu switched to larger plates. Did I say larger?! :nothing even approaching that here, in the food dept. When they say small plates they really mean, minuscule! While the seafood chowder and the short ribs were tasty indeed, at $11 for chowder and $22 for the ribs one would expect to be at least satisfied in the hunger dept, but you would be very wrong. Being cider drinkers we were jazzed to see so many on tap, but had hoped for a pint at $7-$9 , instead we were poured a 12 ounce glass. This is all covered in the menu, but when the actual glass comes to the table, the reality of how small a 12 ounce pour is really hits, especially when seeing all the beer drinkers around enjoying their pints! We left hungry and feeling ripped off. It is to bad, as the food was tasty, the modern looking place- beautiful and the staff very friendly. With all the other options available locally, we will NOT be returning. I recommend a pass on this spot!!

Sixgill is one of the best craft beer bars in Seattle, a notch up from many of the others because of the food. They have a full bar and always have a few ciders on tap, so it's easy to bring just about any group here. The brunch is killer and totally under appreciated, the patio in back is nice, the beer events are great, and the service is as good and friendly as any bar in Seattle.

So happy I stumbled into this place on Fremont Solstice parade day! What a gem. Delicious food and awesome beer selection on tap all for reasonable prices. Friendly service too! Can't wait to try more of their menu and of course drink more beer.

Brought my parents here from dinner. Every single thing we ordered from appetizers to dessert was unique in its combination. I was a bit worried when the menu was so limited however, whatever is on the menu is spot on. The flavor profiles are unique but well balanced. The portions aren't huge but that was okay for everything except the dessert which really needed to be twice as large for the price. The beer and cider options were plentiful as well. I would highly recommend this place to folks looking for pacific northwest cuisine well done. They also use Carlton Farms pork from Oregon which I guessed and then had the waitress confirm. Great ingredients, thoughtful flavors, and decent prices. Will definitely return again.

I checked out The Sixgill on the first Friday night it was open. As a regular at The Noble Fir in Ballard, my expectations for Sixgill were extremely high. And fortunately, my expectations were met! They are still staffing (our waitress said she was "interviewing for her job"), but the service was very friendly, attentive and quick. The interior is beautiful, very similar to Noble Fir in the extent of exposed wood. The menu is small, but creative and my dish (Steakwich) was delicious. My girlfriend had potato skins with goat cheese that was excellent. The taplist is superior to The Noble Fir (at least the current list), though I'm partial to a good barrel aged stout (Rye aged cavatica, highly recommended). And if you're a real beer junkie, it's great that after having been satiated by the Sixgill, Brouwers is just next door. :)

Stopped in last night for a quick snack and wine with a friend. Service was excellent, very attentive. I asked for the driest white wine they had and got a delicious glass of I don't know what. We had the mushroom bruschetta and steak sliders which totally hit the spot. Nice mellow ambience. Will definitely go back.

Can Seattle possibly need another beer bar, especially one that is a block away from Brouwer's? The answer is YES, especially when it comes from the husband and wife team that owns The Noble Fir in Ballard. 36 taps, another beautiful interior filled with wood and light with a nod to Arts and Crafts style, some very tasty treats (the fingerlings with goat cheese and bacon salt are heavenly!), and excellent service, we will be back here again.

Bad service. Several servers walked by us many times. Never did get a food menu. Long Island ice tea... Learn to make them.

The sixgill is exactly what you want in a Seattle beer bar. The tap list is carefully selected and extremely well balanced. A beer lover's best friend! The menu provides a perfect compliment to any beer. For a good eat, enjoy the housemade pork sausage. It will not disappoint!! The entire staff is knowledgable and extremely helpful! An easy 5 stars!!

Wow! This is my new favorite restaurant - and I eat out a LOT! We went there tonight completely randomly - had never heard of it before. It's Cinco de Mayo and we were going to go to El Camino but it was full so we thought we'd just give it a try and I am SO GLAD WE DID! First, the wait staff was so nice and so attentive - we sat at the bar and interacted with three different people and they were all delightful. They have a good beer selection and were super speedy. But the best thing is the food - wow! We had the fingerling potato skins with goat cheese fondue and bacon salt - who ever even heard of that? And it was AWESOME! And we had the smoked mushroom toast with horseradish - unbelievable! So delicious! And a salad with a super tasty thyme dressing. And to top if off we shared a cider-brined porkchop with Kale and I have to say WOW again! I was thinking well, a pork chop is a pork chop, how good can it be? It can be good. But this was fantastic - tender, juicy, and so flavorful! And the best, most amazing thing - is it was a BARGAIN! The starters were like $6-$7 and the entrees around $14. All I can say is WOW again - seriously this is my new fave! Loved it!
