This place was pretty nice... the lights are dimmed, and they have some couches and stuff for a casual environment. We went there to have a couple bottles of wine. Their selection of wine was not that large, but the wine we had we really enjoyed. I would go back.

love the small plates and wine here--and their phenomenal salads! great ambiance and perfect place to meet friends and really get a chance to catch up. hip, but not so loud you can't have a great conversation.

NICE date place... Happy hour from 5 to 7 pm where they have drink specials. I'm unsure about food specials. The atmosphere is classy, dark, with an "Old World" old-timer touch. Somewhat European. Once I met a bartender there from France. It's not really a place for reading or doing work over Wifi. It's more for chitchatting with coworkers or your date.

Great spot for meeting up with a date for a drink. I stumbled in when it was snowing heaps and peeps were sledding down the hill (myself included). The staff was super friendly and chatty. great cocktails. nice ambiance. Won't get puked on or in a fight. I guess if you want that you can go down the street or into belltown. Ungh.

What a great find in LQA! The Sitting Room is one of those places that reminds you why you live in the city. This is an intimate space to grab a quiet cocktail over some conversation with a date or a friend or two. Upscale without being snotty and casual without being low brow. The staff is unobtrusive but they have a sixth sense when it comes to knowing when you want another round. The cocktails were perfect for pre-dinner and the bartender knows how to make the classics in a vodka Redbull-dominated world. They serve a light menu, which I have not tried but looked appetizing. My only complaint and the reason for 4/5 stars is that they are closed Mondays, which if you need a happy hour, Monday is usually the day. Beyond that, I love the place.

The Sitting Room is exactly 49 paces from my stoop; well, like 63 in heels, but worth every step. I have been stumbling to this little joint for the past few years because of the great service, yummy bruschetta and "mood-lighting, " which totally lets me get away with claiming that I am still 27-perfect. The chill atmosphere reminds me nothing of Seattle, which is a good thing now that it is 32 degrees outside, and the delightful Douglas always has a great recommendation for those who are trigger shy in the libations department. Last night's brilliant idea: Tequila Gimlets!

The Sitting Room is by far my favorite bar. There are so many wine bars up on top of Queen Anne, but I much prefer the low key Sitting Room. The lighting is fab, the wine list is terrific, and the food is great. Love the owner, she is the coolest.

I went to The Sitting Room on Friday evening with a friend. We arrived at 5:30. There were plenty of tables available. The atmosphere is mellow, not too dark. Our server was pleasant. The food was light and just enough. The prices are affordable. I will definitely return!

This place is all ambiance. It's warm and inviting, and a great place to pull up a chair and chat for hours with a friend who has a good sense of humor.

I'm generally disappointed with the bars in Seattle. Most Seattle bars are just packed with loud, pretentious, drunken idiots, who drink just to get drunk and hit on anything with legs. The Sitting Room is not like this however. It's one of the only chill bars I've found in Seattle where you can actually go in, sit back, and enjoy good conversation and food with friends without having to shout over the crowd or the annoying house music. It's kind of pricy though which costs it a star.

Great food, good atmosphere, but the service was not very good and really slow. When we got there it was pretty empty (we got there early), but it still took a few minutes for them to recognize us. They told us to sit anywhere and were slow to return to take our order. We went there for dinner before a show at McGraw Hall, so we gave ourselves plenty of time but were still watching the clock. Seems like a great place you are looking for a long dinner or just drinks and a few tapas, but if you are going before an event, make sure to leave plenty of time. Otherwise, it was easy to find and easy to park. The sausage & lentils was very good, and I'm not usually a fan of sausage. The pasta & pesto was also delicious, as were the salads and specials we had. Would definitely return for the food, but only on a night where we didn't have to be somewhere else.

It is probably a good thing that the Sitting Room is nowhere near my neighborhood or I would go broke hanging out here every night, devouring cheese and wine like a bohemian French(woman). Instead I get to treat myself when I'm in the QA hood, and therefore I look forward to it even more. I was here last weekend for a long overdue visit prior to HUMP 3 (which I don't recommend and will never attend again) and it was just as lovely as always. My friend and lounged on a comfy couch for 2 hours enjoying happy hour wine and apps. A lovely pinot was matched with an excellent cheese plate, a sublime quince and goat cheese bruschetta, a salumi meat platter and a fantastic pate. The bill? $40. When I am going back? As soon as possible.

I'm breaking in my brand new Yelp account with a review of one of my favorite bars. I've been to this bar a couple of times and have had nothing but great experiences. The drinks are great - I always try to experience new things when I make repeat visits to places, but the Peach Bellini draws me in every time. The food is great - try the cheese board, especially during happy hour when a handful of their small plates are cheaper than usual. The atmosphere is great - tables with candles lit throughout, music that isn't overwhelmingly loud, a handful of (old) games on the shelf in the back by the restrooms for those who desire a little Scrabble with their crudites...and they don't rush you out! On one visit I watched a couple order one drink (for him) and water (for her), along with some bread and dipping oil and the waitress wasn't at all pushy for them to leave. In some restaurants, they would've been forced out the door within minutes simply because "they didn't order enough". This place starts out slow early in the afternoon/evening but starts jumping later in the evening, especially on weekends. The lack of fifth star came from the fact that the acoustics are not fabulous and so once the noise level picks up, it's hard to hear your neighbor.

Small bars are always the best bars. This place isn't incredibly small but it does not seem to encourage large crowds...if there is a place for you and your group to sit..take a 'SIT" and enjoy a fine cocktail.

Love their cucumber pureed gin cocktail. Very refreshing during the summer months. Great place to relax and enjoy good conversation. Cocktails are pricey but well worth it. My only qualm with the place- you can use more couches. It is after all named The Sitting Room.

  • Me H.

I truly enjoy hanging out here, the atmosphere has this laid back European feel about it which I love. The armchair and couches are great to relax and hang out with friends. They have a small but good wine list and the snacks they offer are a great way to start or end the night. I always leave happy and content from The Sitting Room I just wish I lived closer to it.

  • Kimberley D.

Cool, chill, european feeling place with comfy couches. Pomegranate mojito is not on the menu but the person sitting across from us ordered it anyway and it was tasty. I had a carafe of the house red wine (Cotes Du Rhone) and enjoyed it and the ambiance. Good music at the right volume level so as not to overpower conversation. I've been told that the bruschetta is very tasty tho I didn't try it.

Perfect neighborhood spot. Great lighting and overall atmosphere. Yummy cheese plate and lox. Staff is always friendly. Can be crowded during happy hour, but usually have no trouble finding a table late in the evening.

Another great QA neighborhood place. I love the Happy Hour when I can make it. All of the small plates I have tried have been great. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Like the low lighting. Nice place to relax with friends or significant other after work or later. Has never seemed like a meat market.

The Sitting Room was a neat little place I tried for HH with a friend one weeknight. It was fairly busy when we got there but we didn't have a problem finding a table. We ordered a few tapas spreads and some standard drinks. The prices weren't overly discounted either, I found. Overall, I wasn't unhappy with the experience but left feeling like it was a standard spot. There was a nice decor and I hear they change the menu quite frequently (which seems neat) but I only really just liked it. Parking was also difficult (and it wasn't a Sonics night).

Four of us tried the Sitting Room on Saturday night and had a wonderful time. When we arrived the place was pretty well packed, but the host came right up to us to help find us a seat! A few of us were hungry and ordered their antipasti plate and pate. Antipasti plate was delicious, the pate was not so good. I tried one of their signature cocktails, a pomegranate cosmo. Nice idea, but perhaps with muddled lime it would have been better. The wine list was fabulous, and other than being a bit of a noisy room, the ambiance is great. I would definitely go back and bring more people!!

I really like this place. it is a bit reminiscent of traveling in Europe, so for me, it brings back good memories. I think that the food is pretty good too, if you like to nibble. the salumi plate is good, as is the cheese. it is a good place to feel like you can linger for a while and enjoy.

Really nice bar with that kick-ass opening window, for late summer afternoons, some good wine, smoked salmon and nice peeps...nice work!

very nice interior and best later at night when it's not too busy. the tap beer selection is minimal, but that's not really what it's all about. my wife and i had great service from the bartender who chatted us up. haven't had the food. i'd give it five stars if they had manny's or a decent pilsner on tap.

  • Anna S.

The Sitting Room is a nice, relaxed place to go when you want to grab a drink, sip it, and maybe eat a snack before dinner. The ambiance is great, with a lot of old mismatched armchairs and couches scattered here and there throughout the lounge. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is easygoing. I've had some okay food off the menu, it's nothing too exciting, but if you have to have something to munch on while drinking (like myself) it's a nice thing to have available. All together, a good combo-a nice place to start out your evening on a mellow note.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't written a review about one of my all-time favorite happy hour places. Of course everyone has their preference in terms of menu and atmosphere, and I've had a few friends opt for pubs or clubs. But if you're looking for a laid-back, European vibe, you should check out the Sitting Room. Even though I go regularly and am familiar with practically the entire waitstaff, I always feel like I'm not in Seattle when I'm there. It's one of the few places where the happy hour wine is actually decent (not the usual cheap merlot and chardonnay) and they offer a great assortment of beers and cocktails. The menu is mostly comprised of small bites...tapas, if you will. The happy hour menu offers a good deal on their cheese plate, smoked salmon plate, olive tapenade, etc. They have delicious bruschetta that changes regularly as well as an ever-changing assortment of desserts. I have had nothing but excellent service everytime I've been there, which earns 5 stars from me. A friendly and attentive waitstaff makes happy hour that much more pleasant.

Awesome atmosphere. Music keeps things fun but you can always carry on a conversation. Great place for a romantic date (they serve desert up until 10 and have an outstanding drink menu). I went here last night for Valentines's day and was amazed more people still don't know about it.

The Sitting Room has always been on my list to try. We came here before a show. At first sight, I thought this place was closed but the door opened and was buzzing with fun.You walk in to a dim, romantically lit, spacious place that's nothing less than cozy and charming. Our waiter was pretty attentive and helped us find something we'd all enjoy. Happy Hour is a great deal! I got there late so didn't partake in any food before the show but from what it looked like, everyone enjoyed it. If you're looking for a change of pace from the usual places everyone frequents, I'd suggest stopping in. Overall great experience, I'll be back to try it for real!

I have been to more wine bars than I can count, so I really did not expect to be impressed by a little Queen Anne establishment called the Sitting Room. My preconceptions couldn't be more mistaken. This probably isn't a place to pick up women (or men), as most of the patrons come in couples. However, that is the appeal - it is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine with a friend or partner, without the distraction present in so many other places. The staff are unpretentious and genuinely affable, and the wine menu aims to deliver just enough variety without providing for a half hour read. The prices appear to be much more reasonable than most places, where the markup on a bottle can be two or three times retail. My only complaint is the predictable lack of parking, which really isn't an issue if you have a penchant for parking illegally like I do. However, since the place is located near a densely residential area, street parking can be difficult to locate.

Happy Hour! One of the fewer places that I found that have happy hour open til 7PM (most close around 6PM) Pâté au Poivre Noir ($7) - 5/5. Pork and chicken pate served with baby pickles, mustard and onions. Absolutely delicious and one of the better pates that I've had :] Tapenade & Croccantini ($4.50) - 4/5. Absolutely delicious if you love olives, it's basically a bunch of olives, herbs and garlic run through a food processor. Spread on a rosemary cracker - yums. Tartine ($7) - 3/5. Opted for the bleu cheese, fig preserves and prosciutto and it was delicious! The only downside was that the baguette was cut very thick (I'm used to thinner slices) and the proiscuitto was not spread across all the bread. Regardless, still delicious, just missing a bit on the presentation.

This place is just a few blocks from our apartment and I pass it everyday. It looks so nice and inviting and like its the perfect kind of Parisian care/bar that I want to make a regular hangout. It's gorgeous. I've been there a few times now, different times of the evening and different days and I am sadly underwhelmed. Our first visit at happy hour was really nice. The food was good and the drinks were well made. The second time, the menu hadn't changed and the service was entirely slow and not friendly. The third, the menu was still the same (over the period of a few months) and the place was dead empty. Now that we've been in the area over a year, it's disappointing every time I look in and see how perfect and comfortable the place looks, and how sad and same the menu looks. Plus, the owner is always there, hovering over his staff and grimacing at, well everything. It's a cute place that, sadly, needs some love and energy put into it to fully deliver.

I've been to this place several times over the years, most recently for my birthday shindig, and have always had a wonderful experience! The service and is consistent, the managers check in with you and the bartenders know how to make a solid cocktail! This place does not have a large good menu, but their cheese plates and bourbon mousse dessert are very nosh-worthy. The atmosphere is also nice because it's close to stuff (theaters, Seattle Center, Queen Anne) but set back one block from QA avenue so not nearly as crowded and crazy. Whenever I'm in the area and want to lounge while sipping on wine or a cocktail and actually hold a conversation with friends, I go here. Street parking is limited but there's a paid lot across the street that's cheap in the evenings.

This is a pretty good place to get a drink, especially considering the context and by context I mean lower Queen Anne. If Peso's or Ozzie's isn't your thing, the Sitting Room is a nice alternative. I've always enjoyed everything I've had here: cocktails, snacks and desserts, everything's been consistently good. I do wish they'd change their cocktail menu or offer some different specialty drinks once in a while, but that's a small complaint, really. My only other small complaint is it can occasionally get pretty loud, louder than you would think by looking at the place, because it does have a certain amount of class, so well you know. All in all, though, a recommended spot to enjoy a few drinks with your special other or with a few friends, nice intimate atmosphere and good service.

Yesterday we went here for a coworkers going away happy hour. We got there right at five as they were opening. We had called ahead so they set us up with tables together. The happy hour selection was good! Since it was Wednesday the drink special was two dollars off bubbles but I decided to get a dirty Tito's martini, which was well put together. Everyone had a drink and seemed to be content. We also ordered a bunch of happy hour menu items to share. The cheese plate, chips & dip(spicy honey mustard and a salmon mousse), Tapenade & Croccantini, roasted almonds, and the tartines. There are two different kinds of tartines to choose from and we got both. Both served on a French baguette topped with your choice of either: Bleu cheese, fig preserve and prosciutto or Garlic confit spread, roasted red peppers, arugula and Parmesan cheese. The prosciutto tartine was my absolute favorite thing out of all of these items. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I will definitely be back here! The atmosphere was relaxing and the prices were fair. Service was also perfect.

This is one of my favorite places in the city of Seattle. It has such a relaxed but classy atmosphere, and the drinks are choice. Their happy hour is most definitely worth checking out. It's not the place to come if you want a heavy meal, for but light food and drinks, this is worth it. The owner, Markus, is a super friendly guy who really does care about his business. It shows in the consistent quality of the service.

I think this place is certainly cute. The mixed drinks are tasty. The food is just average. I think you can for sure get something better for your money at a few local establishments. This is a great start or finish to your night drink wise.

How long have I lived in Seattle and only been here now? This is an excellent drinks spot if you're in the area and need quick fantastic drinks. A group of us popped in because we were hungry and ready to start our Saturday night. We quickly sat ourselves down in the front living room area by the front door and waited for a server to come to our aide, which she did. The food menu isn't anything to write home about. This place is primarily for drinking and it is evident by their food menu. You'll be able to have great urban LQA experience at The Sitting Room!

I am not sure that I have been to this neighborhood before - if I had, it was dark and I didn't recognize anything. The neighborhood seemed really residential but then all of a sudden, there was the "blink and you might miss it" restaurant. However, this place is worth slowing down for. The restaurant is beautiful. The weather was nice and the front doors were open with patio seating. They have comfy booths or higher bar tables depending on the desired ambiance. Everyone working here was incredibly friendly and the service was very quick. While I can't vouch for their food, they had a really great drink selection. All three of us had very different drinks - from scotch to white wine to beer. But all were good. I usually hate coming into the city because I HATE street parking but there were plenty of spots open on a Wednesday evening and a lot that you can pay for parking right behind. Super low-key place. And apparently there's a happy hour here which is supposed to be very good. Can't wait to come back!

We were staying in Queen Anne and decided to stop in here for a few hours on a Friday night and it wasn't packed. Things you need to know: - Generous pours of wine - Order the chocolate mousse. Seriously, even if you've not eaten dinner or any appetizers. Just order the mousse, dammit. (My friends and I practically licked the bowl clean....it was heavenly. We contemplated ordering another, but we stopped ourselves. Wise move.) A little bit of A/C would be good...as it was quite stuffy when we visited. Ah, maybe the issue has been corrected by now. Despite that, I will definitely return the next time I'm in Seattle.

Went to this place last tuesday evening for late night happy hour (after 11pm). Came just for late night happy hour food and drinks and when we had arrived, the bartender acknowledged us immediately with waters. My boyfriend asked for the food menu and we were told that "we are not doing late night happy hour food... Our kitchen has been closed for awhile." Also working in the food industry I understand when FOH staff wants to leave and close early. But it was a Tuesday night a little after 11pm when you advertise that you do happy hour food and drinks twice a night. I hurried out of my serving job to enjoy some food after a long shift and was immediately disappointed. For a draft beer and a well drink our bill was $13.50. With happy hour drink prices also listed online, how does that add up? Such a disappointment because we live only a couple blocks away.

The Sitting Room has a lot of potential but at the end of the day it ends up being a neighborhood bar with little reason to venture here unless you're in Queen Anne. The cocktail menu list is extensive but the drinks have failed to impress me. The service is always friendly but slow. The good news is that there always seems to be seats and tables available!

This place has an awesome happy hour. I like that the happy hour is extended longer than other places. This gives me a chance to enjoy it after work without having to rush there. Great spot for light fare and drinks.

Tucked away off the main drag (Mercer), The Sitting Room provides a nice neighborhood place to unwind with a glass of wine and light snacks. Inside, the lighting is dimmed and the ambiance warm. During the summer they open up the front and offer a small number of outdoor tables. Service is hit or miss and sometimes can be slow or a bit aloof. Food is decent. The tartine with prosciutto is one of my favs. Pate is very peppery. Bruschetta specials are decent. I prefer to order food if it's happy hour as I'm not sure it is worth the full price. They have a good wine selection, and a carafe of their sangria is perfect to be shared with a friend on a hot summer day.

I think this is probably the best date spot in lower queen anne. It has cool cocktails, a nice wine selection and nice small bite style eats. I wouldn't endorse coming here for a filling dinner, but a great place for drinks and light appetizers. Overall, has a really nice cozy, intimate atmosphere.

Me and my aunt went there this summer, it's her favourite neighbourhood bar. I had the pomegranate cosmo and a Bitter B. The cosmo was very good, but I'm not a fan of cosmopolitans, so I just moved on. Not a slight on the quality, which was very high, just personal opinion. The Bitter B was fantastic; Bourbon with bitters and orange. So complex and tasty, something I could sit down and sip on. While we sipped our drinks we got the special bruschetta, which at the time was watermelon, feta cheese, and mint, over a carrot puree. Super tasty! Loved it! We also ordered the sautéed dates. Like caramel. SO GOOD! The best thing that happened was the owner came over and asked us how everything was. That was a piece that really struck me. Love this place, good atmosphere, good drinks and tasty food!

I came here for drinks before HUMP!. It wasn't over crowded at 8 on a Friday. It feels like a neighborhood bar with the dim anitque feel. The server was super sweet, but seem like the only gal serving the whole restaurant. I didn't have any food so I can't speak to it. The drinks were reasonably priced and delicious.

I completely dug this place. It was unseasonably warm in Seattle, so it was warm in this bar. It's low lit, and seems like a perfect first date place. Or snuggle up with your honey place. I was with friends so we just exchanged longing looks over cheese, wine, and (holy) chocolate mousse. Seriously. The mousse. The wine pours were quite large for a wine bar. We also tried the kaluha brie, which I really liked but my friend wasn't that pleased with. We all reached foodgasm and consensus over the salted chocolate mousse with whiskey whipped cream. This may beat out this year's best dessert (see chicago review of D'avanti Enoteca's Torta Bacio). If that was made by Jesus, this mousse was made by God. We almost went for another order but stopped ourselves. My friend had a coffee because he doesn't drink, and when he went to the restroom I snuck a sip. Super good. Our server was really attentive and nice, and service was quick. I'll definitely be back. Extra bonus: our check-in got us $10 off.

Great neighborhood bar and lounge. I come here at least twice a month for a drink, a small snack, or a business meeting. Its quite, pleasant, the staff is great, drinks are good, and prices are very reasonable. If your in our neighborhood and don't want to deal with the madness of Pasos or Toulouse this is the perfect place.

This is my favorite spot in the neighborhood! The environment is cute, amber lights and candles, the bartenders and waiters are always very nice and they have one of the best happy hour deals (in my taste). I'd suggest you to go in late afternoon, before 7pm, it's totally worth it.

First experience here was a good one. The dim light doesn't quiet fit the music but it is a cool place to grab a drink with your hubby or a few friends. We tried the warm Brie and sausage and lentil entree. Both were very satisfying and went well with the unique drink selection.

Cozy and quaint bar/restaurant in the more low-key part of lower Queen Anne. I really enjoyed happy hour here. Service was attentive and the deals were fabulous. Ordered a $4 gin and tonic and shared a cheese plate and tapenade with my friend. Not a huge fan of olives in general, but the tapenade was good. Everything was filling and enough to call it good for dinner. We ordered more bread to munch on as well. This would be a great place for friends to catch up or even a first date!

A neighborhood gem for over 10 years. I'm a local and this is my go-to spot. Probably the best place on Lower QA for drinks to catch up with friend or date. Cool, quiet, good drinks and food and can liven up on Thursday-Saturday night. Prices are reasonable, the wine list is decent, the food plates are good quality and the staff is friendly.

Amazing place to visit very laid back relaxing autmosphere, if you are into speak easy it's the place for you. However, the bartender Ryan, had the worst attitude when asked for menus he told me to go sit down and he will be right with me. I've waited then went and ask if I could just see menus and take my time he can come to me later obviously he was making drinks. He acted as if giving me the menus would be a huge deal, asked me to go sit down he will be right there with me so I politely asked is it too much if I can get the menus please and he said yea you can get them your self if you can find them. When I looked shocked at him he said is there something wrong, I just went and sat down. I've never felt so put down and disrespected In such laid back classy environment! I don't care if their drinks are great I rather tip someone who doesn't hate their job and actually wants to be there!

I didn't get food but the drinks were good. They had a cool Statue of Liberty statue I might steal one day. It would look sooooo sweet in my living room by ET. The atmosphere is so pretty in here. There is a globe lit up. If I could choose any place to visit I would choose Europe. My girlfriend would choose Africa. Got a vodka soda. The end

I've been here twice. Disappointed both times. The food was devoid of flavor and the waitstaff irritable at having to work. The second time I dined here, it took so long to retrieve the bill that I finally just left cash and walked out. Horrible.

Returned after many years away. Better now than when it first opened. I'm getting older so maybe I don't need something as exciting and neurotic as younger lower Queen Annies. I'm just fine with lounge music, mellow lighting and laid back service. The food is never wildly adventurous or surprising but the execution is consistently good and the value is good. The drinks are good. The service is good. The ambiance is terrific. Only down note: there was some kind of incense being burned, which caused my my dining partner coughing fits for the rest of the evening. Indoor smoke is bad, mkay?

Stop #1 on my New Bar a Week mission! I ended up here on Valentine's evening with a couple of other guys, which is kinda funny because it's a bit of a date spot and that's, of course, a bit of a date night. But I'm happy to report that our man-date went well and I enjoyed my night at the Sitting Room. First off, the atmosphere. It is immediately clear why this place has a reputation as a date spot. The lighting is dim. Very dim. Romantic dim. Let's-get-naked dim. (That's a thing, right?) And the dim lighting goes very well with the dark wood, vintage decor, and "classy" food. There is a lot of seating, small tables up front, more with benches along the wall, and a handful of tall tables at the back. If this all sounds pretentious, I assure you it's not. It's low-key and intimate but still good for those who just want to hang out in a quiet bar for the evening. My friend got a charcuterie plate with meat and olives. I had a bit of salami, and it was very good. Aside from that, we only had (many) drinks and nothing intricate enough that it requires mention. Our server (Christina, I think) was great and checked on us often even though she had plenty of other tables to manage. The bartender (Phil?) was very nice as well and poured a good drink. Drink prices were moderate but the food seemed slightly pricey if I remember correctly. This is a nice spot and I'm sure I'll find myself back here again. I recommend it if you're in Queen Anne and want a romantic spot for drinks at the end of a good date. Maybe the let's-get-naked lighting will work in your favor. ;)

Yummy craft cocktails. Atmosphere was pretty good, they had the place decked out with Halloween decorations which was fun. I would come back and try their food sometime.

Terrible service and portions were incredibly scant. We did not go at a busy time and it was our first time there. Food made us sick that night.

I came to the sitting room once and it was a great night the atmosphere is one of the best I've seen in Seattle. Though I was being gawked at by the waiter for a good minute, the wine was fantastic and the platter delicious.

We popped in here 5 minutes after opening, unannounced on New Year's Eve with 8 people and were seated immediately and without a fuss. Our hip bartender was more than helpful with drinks and had a great attitude dealing with such an excited crew. The drinks were poured fairly quickly (considering what was ordered and the size of the group) and they were DELICIOUS. I recommend the martinis! But drinks ranged from martinis to old fashioned's to specialty cocktails and no one was disappointed. The bills were split without complaint and we were in and out in about 45 minutes. The ambiance and atmosphere was swanky and laid back. There was a booth lining the walls with tables surrounding and a large wooden bar near the back. Can't vouch for the atmosphere when it's busy, but I would definitely go back.

I've lived in LQA for two years and love this place -- great drinks, happy hour until 7pm (and all day Sunday!), and great apps to snack on. Unfortunately, there is a server/bartender there who makes the experience MISERABLE. Ryan makes it clear that he hates his job and doesn't want to be serving customers in any capacity. I have been there three times when he has been so overtly rude that it tainted our experience -- after the third time, I decided not to return again. Twice I was there with just one other person and once with a large group of people for a celebration and, every time, he acted like we were the biggest inconvenience imaginable (we had no special requests -- really, just wanted a drink!). My friends and I STILL talk about him as a direct association to this establishment -- and the reason we're not returning. People don't have to be overly excited about their job, but making customers feel like asking for a menu, ordering a drink, or requesting the bill is offensive is not a great business practice. I miss you, Sitting Room, but it's not worth it with rude Ryan!

Rudest waitress I've ever had in a restaurant or bar! Tall waitress with tattoos on her chest. Steer clear! Never have I had somebody correct me in the customer service industry in such a rude way and make try to me feel like I was stupid...

Love this place! It's one of my husband's and my go-to bars for drinks and appetizers. They know my drink there, even when we haven't been in a few months. Intimate (especially on week nights; happy hour towards the weekend can get busy though), a perfect spot for a date or girls' night. Awesome selection of appetizers at totally reasonable prices.

I really liked the laid back atmosphere of this place and although there was only one server/bartender last night she was busting ass to make sure everyone got first rate service. Had for what was only $5 a really good Manhattan then a couple glasses of wine. all the prices were reasonable and the cheese plate was not quite as good as everyone else here says but pretty good. I'd prefer if the bread was crustier (sp?) for putting cheese on it.

Came here on a Monday for a late-night business meeting and the place was nice and quiet. We ordered some nice craft cocktails off their drink menu and sipped them in the lovely ambiance while a storm rolled through outside. Service was awesome. Drinks were delicious. 5/5 would come again.

This is a great place to take a date; I will be back for that purpose! Low lighting, no loud music, low volume of room noise, smiley & friendly bartenders, and a short walk to any Seattle Center activities I might be taking a date to. I went with a friend from college, and I'm not sure if she has a boyfriend but I suddenly found myself very interested in that position due to the romantic ambiance of this bar. :-D

Not a bad place. We were there with a big group, and they seemed to be able to accommodate everyone nicely. The server came around often enough, and there seemed to be enough space for everyone. The windows were open because it was a nice night, and I do appreciate that the staff told the smokers sitting outside that they couldn't smoke right on the establishment. Smoke if you like, you know, but not in my face. The food menu is pretty limited and by 10:45 PM ish there were no longer any food options. The drinks are strong - good! - but I wasn't really impressed with the Pear Sidecar that I ordered off the cocktail menu. They were, however, also able to put together a cocktail we requested, which is always nice. And the boy said beer prices were pretty good, so I guess that's something. It's not a bad place, but there are so many awesome places in Seattle, that it's hard to go back to a place that's just a-ok, you know?

Maybe I was expecting more from the sitting room... Saturday night bartender a little sub par in his training. You work at a hip, kinda swanky QA lounge...and you don't know what whiskey's you have behind the bar? And it might be the drink snob coming out in me, but I got a little sad to see the premade gross mix make an appearance when I order a whiskey sour. If you're not gonna throw an egg white in and use fresh ingredients, at least shake the damn thing. Nono. But, its a cool little spot with jazz music playing overhead and a decent ambiance. Waitress was very attentive the times i have sat at a table. Nice, dark, cozy, its OK.

After being completely stuffed for the past 2 days, my friends and I visited The Sitting Room for a light dinner on our last night in Seattle. It was a Sunday night around 9pm, so I was expecting it to be a hip and lively place, but there were only two other tables in the restaurant. I thought maybe this wasn't the best choice, but I received a deal for $5 off any plate after checking in on Yelp and we're all suckers for deals, so we gave this place a shot. Good things - Ambience: It's dimly lit, filled with lounge chairs and candles. It would be a really cool place for a group to relax. - Kahlua Pecan Brie: Okay, this was so great. I love brie so maybe this is a biased judgment, but I thought that it was a pretty innovative take. I've never had it pan-fried, and definitely not with Kahlua (which you can't taste at all though). Only complaint is that it was a tad too sweet. I didn't expect it to be almost dessert-like, but it did come with multigrain bread to dip! - Caprese salad: This wasn't like other caprese salads I've had. There's an overwhelming amount of balsamic vinaigrette, but it was really great for dipping the bread into haha. The tomatoes were fresh, the herbs were nice, everything about this dish was pretty light and refreshing. The only thing I didn't really love was the Crab Rarebit, which tasted like high school lunch haha. Overall, the food wasn't AMAZING, but it was perfect for a smaller meal to share with friends. We were able to combine two yelp check-in deals, so we got $10 off our bill. Definite plus for that!

I had some free time before a volunteer photo shoot, so I figured to finally check the sitting room out. What's nice is that it's secluded from the rest of lower Queen Anne also there's free 2 hour street parking in this area. The beauty of this place is that it doesn't attract a lot of attention and you have to be in "the know" to actually walk in. Since I was running solo, I b-lined it to the bar. It's very cozy and there was a mixture of young business professionals and locals enjoying their time. It's unpretentious and has a chill vibe yet warm and friendly to all patrons. The bartender was friendly and was able to share his favorites and what the place was known for. Their happy hour is from 5-7 PM (Sunday - Thursday). I had a glass of their happy hour Pinot Noir and their famous Tartine. I was very impress with their savory bite and am looking forward to try the rest of their full menu someday.

I am sooo sad to have to update my review, I really am because I still like the Sitting Room, HOWEVER - There is one server that I've seen in the past few months who has driven me to this. Not sure of the guys name but he always ALWAYS seems completely less than enthused to serve me. Look, servers are not circus performers, and I don't expect them to jump thru hoops but I do expect - A SMILE (at the very least). I do expect you to AT LEAST PRETEND like you are happy to take my money. I do expect you stop in and check in on my table every once and a while. Seriously when I see this guy I'm filled with dread (not kidding) because it just ruins my time. My friend thinks he's just doing that "I'm too cool" thing that some Seattle servers pull, but it's truly a dark and gloomy thunder cloud on my Sitting Room experience. Still love the drink specials, still love the atmosphere but dude seriously "perk the f*ck up" your nonchalant, "obviously not happy with life" attitude is TIRED!!

This place is awesome! I met my friend Kat here before we went to see a movie screening a few blocks away and happened to find a cell phone and wallet on the ground on my way there. I called the last missed call and met with a man who is friends with the woman who lost her phone and wallet and returned the phone to him. Yay karma! Me and Kat ordered a rum and coke which was pretty strong for downtown. She ordered some olive snack and I ordered an Artisan Cheese Board which was small but delicious and just the right amount to tide me over until dinner after the movie. The waiter was very attentive and the place has a very classy feel. I will definitely return here!

Not a huge selection but I love this cute little place in my neighborhood! I like sitting in the small outdoor section. The staff have always been nice. This is a place I'd go for a drink and some small bites. If i'm hungry, I won't come here =)

Cozy and classy without being pretentious! A great place for a drink and a bite before a show at On the Boards, but it's also a nice place to come that's off the beaten path away from the noisier Queen Anne establishments. Cocktails are great, and they have a few tables out front which are great when the weather gets nice.

Nice ambiance, good cocktails and happy hour wines, and tasty appetizers. The service was a tiny bit slow but our server was helpful and as attentive as she could be given the number of people in the place. I will definitely return soon.

Oh, Sitting Room, I have no clue how I work next to you and don't find myself visiting you Every. Single. Day. Probably better on my wallet, eh? I enjoy their happy hour and their menu in general. Drink-wise, I'm a little lazy here. I just go for a glass of the house red. On my last visit, my friend had a few well drinks that she rather enjoyed as well. The Much More Dangerous thing for me here is the food. Specifically the European-Style Smoked Salmon and the Pasta with Pesto Béchamel. The pasta was perfect, and even the capers seemed to be JUST the right texture and flavor to go with the salmon! There's some part of me that wants to go in there and order those things again and again and again. So, uh.. yeah. I'm quite fond of The Sitting Room because it's a good place to catch up with a friend, perhaps have a date, gather with a small group, or enjoy pre-Intiman (Theater) drinks and food. I really should give into temptation more often, and enjoy more happy hours there. What do you think?

A great local bar for the neighborhood. Drinks are tasty enough. Their biggest downfall is the service- waitresses have constant knack for ignoring the customers and I never feel like a priority when I'm there.

4.5 stars. Recent new favorite in Queen Anne. Bartenders make fantastic cocktails and take great care of you. Am obsessed with the Gin Royal - Bombay, St. Germain, champagne, dry vermouth, orange bitters, pom juice, shaken, served up. Will return to try the Chartreuse Cocktail (Bombay, chartreuse verte, muddled lemons, fresh thyme, shaken, served up). Crowd is low-key, ample seating options - decent bar area, bar tables, lounge seating upfront. HH runs all day Monday, Tuesday-Sunday: 5-7 pm, 11 pm-1 am: $4 well drinks $4 draught beer $4.50 house wine Tasty small plastes run $3-7 - try the tapenade, cheese board, pate, or tartine. Premium HH runs Sunday-Wednesday: 5-7 pm, 11 pm-1 am Belvedere $6 Bombay Sapphire $6 Makers Mark $5 Sauza Hornitos $5

I have come here on for happy hour on a sunny day. They open up the front. It's pretty quite during the weekday. Staff is attentive and fast. Their house wine was very good (sometimes house HH wines aren't the best). The HH menu isn't very big, plus I had a picky friend with me. The tapenade is to die for, I wanted to eat it by the spoon full. I can't wait to come back at night, it looks like a romantic atmosphere.

We found this great little place on yelp. So delicious. The service was great. The ambiance romantic and relaxing. We are on vacation and this was a nice getaway from the touristy downtown restaurants. I finally felt like we were somewhere that locals actually go. The waiter helped us pick out a few things for me and my boyfriend since my boyfriend had never had tapas before. They were all amazing. We ordered the sausage, which was super filling and comes with salad on the side, tartine ( unbelievably good, I would come back just for that), bruschetta ( which had roasted peaches and honey mixed in) And a caprese salad ( equally notable) Needless to say the food was great. Usually tapas are fairly small so we thought we would order a few things. These were pretty filling and we probably could have done without one plate. Still everything was soooo good I'm glad we didn't miss out on any of it!!!! If you are in queenstown or near the space needle, then definitely try this off the beaten path place. Next time I'm back in town, I will definitely be stopping by.

An excellent location for any Mediterranean / French fare, and a great option for happy hour or a playful/romantic date. You'll find staples such as olives, almonds, and escargot, and my personal favorite is the Paté au Poirve Noir. Expert tip for the dish: try to pack as much punch into every bite by layering it up- bread, dijon, paté, pickle/cherry. Amazing flavor range.

The waitress shortchanged me. It was a big social so I didn't notice until too late. Otherwise, it's a cute place. Bad service and being shafted kinda soured the experience, though.

I really liked the ambiance of this place, and our server was super nice. My favorite thing we ordered was the Caprese salad, but everything was quite enjoyable. I really liked the vinaigrette and we used it with the complimentary bread. TIP: $5 off a plate from checking in on Yelp!, which was such a steal deal. My friend and I are addicted to checking-in, so NOT checking in would have been the issue ...and that bumps this place from 4 stars to 4.5 stars in my book.

I come here a lot and usually love the food and get great service. Drinks all very delicious. However my experience was tainted during my last visit. I met two friends there and our server was really rude and slow and I could hear him gossiping about the other employees. Then we asked what was in the panini and he didn't know...um ok? Then we asked about the cheese board and he didn't know what was on that either...and didn't bother to ask. It was odd. The food came out perfect though however I probably won't be going back anytime soon. I'd never seen him before so maybe he's just new but it really ruined what was an overall perfect night. He rolled his eyes when I asked to split the check. If you do go, go one his night off!!

I can't wait to come back to the Sitting Room. My friends have been raving about this place for months so I was excited to finally try it last week--and I was not disappointed. Fortunately I had an experienced patron with me, so everyone can benefit from her ordering wisdom. First, the tartine--it was a tender baguette topped with a sweet spread (plum? geeze, I need to start taking notes...), tangy gorgonzola, prosciutto and lightly toasted. It was delicious and is a must-order. We had a very tasty bruschetta which I believe had carmelized onions and chevre. Next up was the cheese plate. I'm not exactly a cheese snob, but I enjoyed two of the three selections (I'm not a fan of dry, musty sheep cheeses). The portion size doesn't compare to what you'd get in France, but it was above average for Seattle. We also had a selection of olives and some very tasty roasted almonds. The cocktails were top-notch. My manhattan was perfect and came with the twist I requested. They don't have a margarita special, but the bartender made an excellent one nonetheless. My friend enjoyed their great happy hour deal on glasses of wine. Our server Doug was very friendly and helpful. All around a great experience and one I'm eager to repeat.

Hidden in lower Queen Anne away from the louder places and frat bro vibe that one might experience in another part of this neighbourhood. In fact, this place defines a subdued sleekness that makes you want to return for a glass of wine during their happy hour. The place is stylish and the service is sound. We didn't order full entrées. We opted on a couple of their antipasti platters to share with glasses of their house red. The noise level was low which facilitated several hours of good conversation. Overall this lovely place is small enough to be intimate for two and just big enough to work for you and your friends. And parking wasn't a headache, I was able to find a spot less than two blocks away.

I have been here twice now, and I love the small loungey feel. The drinks are good for Happy hour, though the food is really limited. Great spot for the neighborhood and walkable to tons of great spots. I did order the cheese plate and a side of olives, very yummy. Loved the volume and the bread was amazing.

Checked out this little gem last night after my game at memorial stadium and I totally dig it. It definitely has a chill vibe so it's not the spot you go to if you want to get a little rowdy at hh. We ordered the Tartine and the escargot off the hh menu. The Tartine tasted great, I loved the different bursts of flavor. As for the escargot, it was just "so-so", it was very bland. The only type of flavor I got from it was when I did a piece of the French baguette into the sauce. All in all, this is a perfect place to catch up with a friend over a glass of wine. I'll give the food another shot next time....

What a lovely, jazzy little spot with wonderful art and dim lights! We planned my husband's launch party here for an event with 30 people and this venue was a great choice for our special occasion. The Sitting Room is classy and sophisticated and a nice place for an intimate event. If you're considering the Sitting Room for a party, I would not recommend it for a crowd larger than what we had but it was perfect for our size. Excellent event spot! The manager we worked with in reserving our area was also so nice. Not only were there no drink minimums (which you rarely find anywhere these days) but he allowed us to bring in an outside cake, hang a poster, and have balloons. He was very easy going and accommodating for our needs and that was absolutely the best part because we really wanted to make the launch party personalized. Too many times it's been the case where you'll have to deal with an uptight manager who is very strict and lacks understanding for your party needs. We ordered some tapas which were great - the bruschetta, hummus, almonds etc. Our server for the night was sweet as can be and very friendly accomodating us as well. Since having our party there, two other friends are planning to have their respective birthday parties here. Everyone was so impressed! What a great little find and wonderful place for a nice and intimate occasion.

The Sitting Room is a great spot to go to, especially if you live in Lower Queen Anne. One of the best parts of this little lounge is the ambiance. It's dark, and comfy, just the way it should be when enjoying a glass of wine, beer, or whiskey. One food recommendation is to order the Kahlua Pecan brie! It's truly amazing!

A group of 8 of us had some time to kill before heading to a concert at Key Arena, so while looking around for parking, we made our way to the Sitting Room. Although on the smaller side, I was happy they were able to accommodate us quickly! We still had some time before happy hour ended, so that was a bonus! I loved the food - go get the tartine! You won't be sorry. The service was a little slow after the first round of food and drinks, but it wasn't why I've rated them at 2 stars. I've never written a review before, but I'm compelled to share this experience since it's never happened to me before. When I asked for the check, the server said that they add 20% gratuity for more than a party of 6. Totally fine with that - just get me the check. When I get it, the server had handwritten the tip and total in, leaving me to just sign it. Not preprinted. HANDWRITTEN. We were in slight rush to get out of there since it had taken so long to get our second round of drinks, and I didn't want to bother with asking why she wrote in her own tip and the total. But for real? If this is standard business practice for them, then beware that the totals match up to what you intend to pay for!

I've been here twice and will keep returning. In fact, I will make it a purposeful destination from Tacoma. The atmosphere is lovely. The sitting arrangements comfortable and roomy, you don't feel like you have to make "nice" with the people next to you. The music playing in the background is quite good and at a level that allows you to have pleasant conversations. The wait staff is phenomenal. They greet you warmly and are attentive without being overbearing. The bar staff does a great job with pours, while the wait staff make sure that your glass is not empty. The food is delicious. Bites as well as more substantial pair nicely with the wines they have. The tapenade is one of my favorites. A wonderful place to go and catch up with friends.

Conveniently located next to On The Boards. Check. Delicious food offerings. Check. Interesting and tasty drink options. Check. It has all the elements that should make up an ideal start to date night at On the Boards. But it must be understaffed. We have gotten there twice now before the crowds have started to pile in, and both times have had a wait that can't be explained. 25 minutes after sitting down to get drinks? Once we had to cancel our order because it took so long and the show was starting. The spot itself has a great ambiance, and again -- the food is delicious. I just think that they need to bring another staff person on for show nights. The wait time makes an otherwise enjoyable relaxing night away from real life rather anxiety-riddled when faced with being late for the show. Marcus (spelling?) came into the picture upon our food coming out and salvaged our experience there 100%. He was attentive, kind, personable, made sure we were absolutely taken care of. Next time we come, I will try my hardest to get in his "section". I'm not sure he was there when we arrived, but he's a gem, and prevented this from being a 3 star review, for sure. My advice: We got there at 6:50 for an 8PM show, so if you want to relax and not worry about being late for the show, try closer to 6:30.

Always a pleasure, every time! The bartenders are always witty and attentive, the cocktails are consistent (I love me a stiff gin royale), and most importantly, I appreciate everyone always remembering my name! A great Queen Anne hideaway conveniently located just a skip and a jump from the hustle and bustle of the greater LQA area. The Sitting Room never disappoints.

When you first hear about the Sitting Room, you might think of overstuffed loungers littered by college students conversing in a dimly lit cave in lower Queen Anne- and if so, you would be completely mistaken. It's more like a longish hallway filled with tables short and tall- no college students in sight, and walls lined with European art. At the end of the hallway, a tiny bar. It's the perfect place to grab some small plates of smoked wild salmon (phenomenal), roasted beet salad or kahlua pecan brie with multi-grain toasts while conversing under the orange glow of tall floor lamps. There's a warmth, coinciding with a chill vibe ambiance that will probably have you taking off your coat to sit a while.

Pretty nice happy hour and I was impressed after my first visit. Service was good. Food seemed to be of high quality and reasonably priced. They need a fan or something because it gets steamy in there on a hot day. I'd be back for sure. Happy hour goes until 7- which is nice. Lots of other lame happy hours (Peso's for example) near by that don't have booze specials and end early. These guys have Happy Hour figured out. Give it a shot. I think you'll like this place.

Revising this up to 5 stars, because why not? Surprisingly cozy, and as noted very nice and airy in the summer. I think I'd always walked by in the winter before and from the outside got a different impression than I did on a warm midweek evening

Great small social bar. The food is really good and the owner is such a nice guy and visits frequently with his regulars. The worst part is the parking- there are a few spots out front, but they fill quickly

I like this place quite a bit. It's usually pretty crowded, I don't normally like that but once you're seated it doesn't feel crowded. It's a good atmosphere, a nice level of darkness, the music's usually not my thing but really not many bars are going to do my thing so I don't expect that. The music's never been overbearing so it's not a problem. Service has always been friendly and attentive, great service actually. They have a list of pretty good cocktails, I think they could switch it up a bit now and then but we've always been happy with our drinks. I know I've gotten food here and liked it, but unfortunately I can't remember what it was. The chocolate mousse is fairly awesome, though. I've never seen anyone there wearing a white baseball cap on backwards coupled with a button-up shirt, and I always consider that a good sign. One thing to note, it can get pretty loud sometimes, we've never noticed it too much while sitting there, but if you're looking for someplace quiet and intimate, this is not it.

Good strong drinks. The food isn't bad either. Service was friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Good for a late night excursion.

The staff and service are great. Timely, polite and caring. Opening the front windows on a summer day/eve in Seattle is a great touch. The food was fabulous and drinks generous. The combinations of savory and sweet were noticed among my friends. The ambiance was rustic elegant and fun. A great place for a date and comfortable enough to make it a local place to hang out and enjoy!

After reading great reviews the four of us went in and sat down and waited. About 10 min later we were asked if we wanted anything and ordered our drinks and some appetizers. Another 10 min went by and nothing ... I am def not a fan ... we left for greener pastures.

I have been to this place a number of times and have enjoyed the place. For the many years I have gone there, there has been he same waiter. Frankly for 4 + years hes worked there and he has always rubbed me the wrong way so I have chosen not to sit in his section. However this last Hump we went in with friends and I talked this place up a bit. The place was empty and got this waiter who was on his worst behaviour like usual. Here are some traits of waiters to be aware of to get returning customers and good tips. 1. NEVER take a guys drink away if its not empty without asking. 2. Don't come to the table ever 3 secs and ask that an order be put in. 3. Please bend down and speak with your customers don't look out into no where being a Jerk. 4. Its OK if you have friends visit you and you hug them but don't do that in front of the clients you are dismissing. Any rate I think you all get the picture about Mr. why would I care to serve you. Food is now mediocre at best, drinks are very weak. Frankly this is not the same Sitting room that it began as, its just shell. Oh and to Mr. Waiter next time don't insult your customer intelligence and give them two free drinks next time we come back... really you think we are going to come back the way you decided to treat us.

This place is absolutely adorable! I don't know why it took me so long to find this place. I hosted a bridal shower here with a bunch of my coworkers. The waitress was super nice and super attentive especially with a large party like ours. Not once did I feel like she was annoyed by us, which I have experienced at other places unfortunately. At one point the owner came out and offered to bring us a knife and serving utensils for the cake that we brought. You could tell that he really does care about his customers. The food is delicious and their happy hour menu has a lot of variety. The cheese board is a must get as well as the Kahlua pecan brie (just trust me...you'll thank me later!). I am disappointed that they didn't have the pate both times that I have visited, as I LOVE pate. Hopefully, third time's the charm. Their regular menu prices are reasonable with nothing over $10 and everything is easily shareable. And another thing, their drinks seem really strong which is not a bad thing at all.

Cozy with mood lighting, check. Long list of sipping alcohols, check. A few small plates, check. Sure the Sitting Room has a lot of things going for it, but it's the place you stop on your way to somewhere else and not the final destination. Check it out if you are in the mood for a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a cheese plate and you won't be disappointed.

I liked The Sitting Room, its sort of in an odd spot (it's like in a mini strip mall)...but easy enough to find. I went the other day with a couple friends for some drinks. I only had their Roy St. Tea which was pretty good, too many lemons in it though, there were about 4 wedges and the glass wasnt that big. We had gone there for food, big whoops. This isn't the place to go if you're actually hungry for dinner. They just have apps here, but I ordered the bruschetta that had brie, salami, cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves. It was pretty yummy. I enjoyed this place. It was never crowded while we there and it was on a Friday night from about 8-10:30 PM that we went. I'd go back! Edit: Oh, and if you check in here, you get $5 off an app!

I am writing this review because I was at the restaurant this past Friday and had a really good time. I have been to this spot many times and have always had a great time, this time included. What I am so annoyed with is that me and my partner both paid for our checks and added the tip to our credit card receipt. When i pulled up my account on line to check my account i found that the tip was changed by the waitress to increase the total tip by an additional amount. This to me equates to stealing. I just don't understand why you would treat someone who comes into your establishment usually 2-3 times a month and spends on average 40-50 bucks a visit. Well I hope stealing an additional few dollars was worth losing a customer and to now have someone tell many of his friends in the Queen Anne area about this. Very disappointed by this behavior.

This place is great if you want to venture into lower Queen Anne but avoid the bros. It is tucked away and easy to miss, therefor often times you can enjoy a mellow evening with friends or your sweety while every other establishment is on fire with douchery. The wait staff is very attentive and helpful. Their small plates are delicious and they have a cab that you can get by the carafe that has a nice smooth buttery finish to it that my group and I found very pleasing. The ambiance is lovely. the lighting is warm and cozy. The music is played at an appropriate level and the breeze that flows in from the huge open windows is refreshing. I would love to see these guys offer a full dinner menu.

Went here last night with a lady friend, and it was totally fine. It's strange to feel so neutral about the place, we just had a drink each; they didn't have the booze I requested from the menu and were not able to recommend an alternate just asked if there was anything else I wanted, yet were polite about it. It does have the right ambience for a romantic date and is incredibly convenient to the center and uptown yet still just far enough off the beaten path to avoid a douchey crowd. It's worth going back for a date.

Darling little lounge that wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night. I'm a sucker for hanging lights and a globe as decor - it has a bit of a romantic feel to it. I came late for a birthday party so I was only there under 2 hours but I enjoyed the atmosphere and my lemony drink. Perfect spot for a relaxed night out with good friends.

YAY QUEEN ANNE AND ALL ITS LITTLE BARS. and YAY YELP AFTER PARTY Especially this one, very small bar so the servers never forget about you. Im not sure about price or anything... I had one drink. When we arrived they gave us a cheese and crackers platter, LOVED IT. I want MORE of it. DEF coming back! Bar hopping in queen anne anyone?

We stopped in the Sitting Room while on vacation, as it was walking distance from where we were staying in Queen Anne. It was adorable inside, and the service was good. We just had some appetizers and drinks, so it seems like the perfect place for a happy hour or just a low-key date.

I really love The Sitting Room. Maybe because it's right down the street and lacking the Pesos-type crowd... but maybe because it's just a great place! The food is always excellent, service always friendly and quick, and drinks fairly priced and tasty. The decor and atmosphere are classy and I think if I walked in here without knowing the place I might think it's overly trendy and most likely over priced. But The Sitting Room is none of that. I go here often for Happy Hour - sometimes solo, sometimes with friends... the consistently great menu and awesome staff make it easy to frequent. I've also found this a particularly perfect place to meet on a first date as it's semi-romantic, small and quiet.

This is my home away from home when seeing theatre or dance at On the Boards, PNB, The Rep or anywhere near the Seattle Center. It is one of those neighborhood places that feels so cozy and inviting. The kitchen is not a full kitchen so it is mostly appetizers, great soups and delicious panini specials but perfect for cheap quick eats before a show and a darn good cocktail. Also great for after the show and they always kindly scare up some snack for you even if not still officially serving food. Reading some of the reviews below- I was shocked to see the service not lauded. Set your expectation that you are in a very small place that usually has one person working the floor and relax a bit and you will be very pleased with the welcome atmosphere and unique personable service and not the usual corporate server in a head mic and buzzer on their apron kind of feel.

My husband and I had a great experience here! We had a Tippr coupon so decided to try it. Yummy well-made cocktails and appetizers. Not just the standard bla bar menu. And decent prices as well. The service was great, attentive but not annoying. Cute cozy dark candlelit setting. Loved it!

This place is definitely OK, but I wouldn't go far enough to say that I'm a fan. My husband and I ended here around 8pm on a Thursday evening and found the place fairly crowded, which I assume was a leftover crowd from their Happy Hour that ended at 7. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and provided fast service. Drinks: *A pomegranate Cosmo for me, which might be a boring choice but it was what I wanted. I thought it was tasty and not too sweet. Would order again. *A Queen Anne (Maker's Mark, Port, Sweet Vermouth, & Dry Vermouth) for him, which he thought was OK but wouldn't necessarily order again. Food was the biggest disappointment, but maybe we ordered the wrong thing. We ordered the smoked salmon. No complaints with the actual salmon, but I didn't love that the bread is came with was cold and soft. I guess I was expecting it to be grilled or toasted or something to give it a contrasting texture to the salmon. The dish was just meh. We also ordered the olives, which we enjoyed but it's hard to go wrong with a ramekin of olives. I did love the dimmed lights, eclectic decor and the general atmosphere. The staff seemed decent as well.

If you are like me and want to avoid the herpe-triangle bar scene of Queen Anne, then Sitting Room is the place to visit. This dim lit bar is classy yet relaxed. The food is good and so are the drinks. The servers are professional and kind. There are times the wait can be tad bit long but I only mention this for the Turds who have no patience, are drunk, and should head back to Ozzies (No offense Ozzie - there is time and place for you). This is a great place to take a loved one, friends, GF/ BF and just hang with some good people. A place to relax not hook-up. Wheelchair Friendly :)

We luckily came here during their late night happy hour. There were quite a few people sitting on the couches and at the bar. We found a table and sat ourselves. The seats are pretty comfy and the ambiance cozy. We got immediate attention (water & menus) from the bartender who came around the bar to greet us. The happy hour wine isn't too bad and I really enjoyed the Chartreuse cocktail. Unfortunately the happy hour food menu is pretty limited late at night but we ordered some spiced almonds to snack on. There's a couple areas in this place that really do make you feel at home. Like how the couches are arranged around a coffee table. A table is stashed in a nook. Carefully placed lamps. Will definitely come here again soon to try the full food menu/"assiettes."

Cocktails are delicious. Food is okay; I'm not a huge fan of the choices on the menu though. Ambiance is romantic and dark, but very loud because the place is so small. Service is friendly, but the one waitress I always have comes by the table a little too often for my preference, but at least she comes by; it's better than the alternative of never seeing your server again! I also like that they have a Yelp deal for $5 off an entree if you check in! All in all, this is a place I tend to go to with my friends for a cocktail to catch up on our lives, but not a place I would go on a first date (it's hard to hear and sometimes see the other person- it's dark & loud) or for dinner.

We went before a show at the Key... The place was packed and despite our reservations we were placed at their couch rather than the table we thought we had reserved. For coffee it would have been wonderful, but for a meal, not so great. The drinks were good, we had the cucumber martini, but again because it was busy it took quite a while to get them. The menu was limited and nothing we had was stellar, in fact, I could have cooked everything myself and it would have been better. The shining star was the service, they were friendly, and tried despite being understaffed for the evening. I might try it another night when things are not so crazy, but maybe not.

i know for a fact that i'll be ordering the brie cheese dish with pecan glaze every time i go back, as long as it's on the menu. would also recommend the soup. great happy hour, great ambiance. wouldn't have found the place up on roy had it not been for a good friend who recommended dinner and drinks there. nice lighting, it's not too noisy. just social/loud enough to be lively and know you're in good company, but can still carry on a conversation across the table with whoever you're with. but again...the brie. goodness gracious...the brie.

This place is wonderful. I went here for the first time last week with my friend Ashley, and I will definitely be returning soon. We had two servers just for the two of us; one male and one female. Both of them were very courteous, professional and friendly. Service was prompt, and food and drinks were both absolutely delicious. I had the sausage with green lentils. Normally I like lentils, but they're not my favorite food, I just felt like sausage and the lentils happened to come with it. But the sauce over the lentils made them taste exquisite! Ashley and I stayed there for nearly three hours, enjoying our dinner and the cozy, candlelit atmosphere. I went to the bathroom at one point and when I came out, I said to Ashley, "Wow, those tealights sure last a long time!" Ashley laughed and said, "He changed it when you were in the bathroom!" Attentiveness (even to the tealights =)), great food and drinks, and a lovely atmosphere... this place is truly as good as it gets! =)

Pretty great neighborhood bar. I like the atmosphere, it's the type of bar where you can dress nice but still relax and enjoy yourself. Great top shelf selection, attentive serving staff. The bartenders typically make good versions of all the drinks, with a little room left over for creativity. it's classy, without being pretentious. I found the pours a little lighter than I like, but the ambiance is great and it's become one of my favorite drinking spots on LQA.

I love this place. Bar tending staff is of the highest quality in my book: always friendly and always willing to talk shop without any arrogance. Comfy seats encourage excellently drunken discussions with friends. Most of my jaunts here are in the wee hours, but my dinner experiences have been good as well. I can't say I know much about wine, but I approve of the Belgian Ales available. In spite of the humdrum locale I recommend sitting outside if you're on a date, weather permitting of course.

French cafe style foods, eclectic wines and Abbey and Trappist beers are all what make this one of the best bars in Seattle. During the summer months you can sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere. Lonely Planet has rated this a must see if you are touring and live and die by these travel books (as I do in addition to yelp). The service has always been outstanding and its a great place to meet with friends, catch up with an old friend, or take a new friend on a date. It has a classy yet comfortable style and because of the way the tables and seats are arrange, it is easy to meet somebody new when you sit down at the sitting room. Oh . . . and they serve Fernet Branca. Woohoo!

This is one of my favorite bars in Seattle! The food is delicious and cocktail quality is always of obvious importance to the staff. They have a great wine selection and a romantic, quiet, non-meat-market atmosphere. Highly recommended for dates.

I was really excited to try this place as it is just down the street from where I live. While I would not say I was disappointed, I would say there are other places I would choose to go to first. I went with a friend for Happy Hour and it was packed; clearly this is a favorite spot for many people because it is not exactly on a main thoroughfare. It did take a while for the server to come over to greet us but once they did, they were very pleasant and our food came out quickly. I had the olives and my friend had the olive spread on crisp bread (not sure what the menu name was for it). Both were very good so no complaints there. There were plenty of seats and a cute atmosphere but I found the music coupled with the amount of people made it difficult to communicate. I felt that the volume was more appropriate for late night hours rather than a sit-down-and-relax-after-the-workday hour. I wouldn't be opposed to a return visit but my first visit just was not that impressive due to a combination of factors such as noise and a slight lack of attentiveness on the part of the staff.

Met a friend here while visiting Seattle, I loved it so much, I mentally transport myself back to this place. I liked the Euro feel, sleek and inviting. Many of the cocktails are made with fresh juices and are superb except for the cucumber-infused one they had as one of their signature drinks. Unfortunately, the kitchen shut up before we arrived. So, we missed out on tapas. Next time.

I'd been interested in stopping here for Happy Hour since I go to OtB so often. I finally made it out there before seeing The 39 Steps at the Rep (fantastic, go if you haven't). They have a decent wine selection and the HH food is a good mix of appetizers. We had the cheese plate and the pate. The cheese plate was nice with a hard, a blue and a brie-like cheese, apple slices, olives, and almonds. The pate was okay but nothing special. It is the hard pate not the spreadable kind and the liver flavor was a little overwhelmed by the peppercorns. The service was friendly enough without being pushy. I like that they have a few different types of seating: high stools, couch and armchairs, normal tables, and the bar. In the end I wasn't overwhelmed by any of it. In fact, I was kinda underwhelmed but I had high expectations so c'est la vie. I'd go back for HH but probably not at full price.

I went here with friends for a quick drink and snack on Friday night. Loved...the decor was romantic and intimate. The staff was super friendly. My caprese salad was tasty. Disliked...service was super slow and I wasn't blown away by their menu selection or prices for what you got.

So it's pretty cool this place has house cocktails and nice beers on tap and in bottles, but the service is HORRIBLE. I don't even know why I came here again, after sitting at a table for 30 minutes before leaving last time I was there. Tonight we came in, went to the bar, bought two drinks, and went and sat at an out-of-the-way table. Ten seconds later Mr. Pretentious comes by and is like "Oh, do you guys want food?" Uh, no, it's 9:45pm thanks. "Did you close out your tab?" No, we just opened one... So after we finish our drinks and ask for our check, we wait around staring at the walls for half an hour until we walk to Mr. Pretentious for our check again, and he prints out a list of things we have purchased on our tab, but with no signature area. So we think it'd been applied to our tab, all's good, start leaving when he runs after us "No wait, you need to pay!! Let me explain this to you since you didn't understand." "I'm sorry you couldn't understand." Right, 'cause we're idiots and we ask for checks when we want to know how much money we've spent but not pay yet. Help us understand that Mr. Pretentious. You know the ways and must lead us. TIP FOR SUSHI PLACE 2 BLOCKS DOWN 1 HOUR BEFORE: 30%. TIP FOR MR. PRETENTIOUS: NO. Suggestion: After 9pm, stop table service. Let people order at the bar. Don't give people sitting at tables a hard time, they're your customers. This is how most places with a huge bar area work... being different could work, but being pretentious is "bad" different. Be good different!

Super friendly staff and not ridiculously busy on a Friday night. Definitely try the Sage Greyhound. We ordered 4 "small" plates and couldn't finish all of it. The tartine was excellent and the kahlua brie was very rich but tasty. The atmosphere was fun and the price was right. We'll definitely come back.

Great music, excellent happy hour assiettes; salmon is always a fav but really great here, also loved the pate. Tartine was a little too sweet for me. Our server was attentive and super helpful, thanks for the good tips on Seattle/Ballard nightlife, Hanna!

Met some friends for happy hour the other day. Had a tasty house white wine that was on special, Sat on the comfy couches and a a very nice relaxing time. It smelled SO GOOD in there, i wish I had ordered food! I want to order some of their fancy drinks next time I go.

Based on one experience, probably the best bar in the neighborhood (unless you are looking for a dive; this one approaches foofy, but without any hint of being pretentious), even if drink consistency was spotty throughout the night. It wasn't very busy when we were there, so it served as a good nightcap spot. Dimmed lights and candles. Good vibe all around: the bar itself had a rail of locals (it seemed), a bookworm was comfy on one of the sofas, and a smattering of other folk all seemed to be in a good mood. Our server was super nice and gave good drink recommendations. Potential date-spot. A very good first impression and here's looking forward to a return visit.

A great local find. The drinks are reasonably priced and the cocktails are quite good. The service was REALLY slow, however - Friday evening, perhaps to be expected? We were also asked to move to accommodate a larger group (which we did), but a strange request given that no tables were reserved in advance for this larger party. Both servers were very nice and apologetic for the long wait time (20-plus minutes) and the move- and they comp'd our second drink - a really nice gesture that will bring me back another night!

Sitting Room Je t'aime! The wonderful amber lighting (grace à Seattle's own Lit Shades), the casual chic furniture and chill, laid back atmosphere makes the Sitting Room one of my favorite bars in Seattle. I admit this place is so bougie Robespierre would have my head, but I am what I am and I *will* eat cake thank you very much. Send me over some of those delicious roasted almonds while you're at it! (Extra plus -- they serve Stella Artois. Great name & a great beer.)

Excellent Happy Hour 5-7 pm Sun-Thurs---Mediterranean French inspired menu---$6 Tartine, $8 generous portioned Beet & Goat Cheese salad, pate, olive tapenade etc. very nice tres, tres petite patio for warm evenings and a super groovy roll up garage door that opens onto said patio; decent, forthcoming and attentive service, $4.50 HH wine, lovely way to spend an hour or two on a warm, sunny Tuesday without spending so much money that you ruin your budget for the rest of the week, located nicely just off busy Queen Anne Ave so you're not breathing in traffic fumes or necessarily watching the local druggie passed out in the shrubbery adjacent to the check mart which always ruins a perfectly good HAPPY Hour. Will definitely go back to further explore broad, interesting and affordable menu.

I'm torn between a 3 star rating and 4 star rating. It's a quaint little bar with a good vibe. It's on a quiet street away from the lower queen anne buzz which I like. The first time I came was on a Saturday -- packed to the gills, loud, difficult to find a table for 4, but definitely a happenin' place. Solid 3.5 star experience. More recently, I came on a Thursday night and it was a completely different vibe -- mellow, lounge-y, and intimate. We ordered a couple of drinks and a cheese plate (and got a deal because I "checked in" through yelp! Thanks yelp!). Service was attentive but not overbearing. Definite 4 star experience.

Oooooo...I like! I am a big fan of the Sitting Room. So sexy and cozy. Beautiful dim lamps and small candles cast a warm glow throughout the room. Great happy hour with $3.50 well drinks and $4.00 glasses of wine. Some of their plates are half off during happy hour. They change the ingredients on their Bruschetta weekly. This week is cream cheese with caramelized pears and apples and drizzled with honey. Light, sweet, and very good. Smoked salmon plate is fresh and quite good. Cucumber Martini is practically perfect. Not sweet whatsoever and not overpowered with cucumber. Simply refreshing and good. I am impressed and will definitely be back for more.

It certainly works out well that I live just two blocks from the Sitting Room, a.k.a. my most favorite bar in Seattle. I should go more often, but I guess I go enough. The Sitting Room manages to turn a space in fairly plain and unexciting building into a bar that feels like it was plucked out of 1940s Paris, or so I like to tell myself. Everything about the atmosphere is sexy and awesome - the dim lighting, the yellow walls, the section with vintage furniture, the french posters (especially a fan of the "la vache qui rit" one), and the light up globe at the end of the bar. Ohhh the globe...I bought one for my living room in a likely feeble attempt to make it more Sitting Room like. It couldn't hurt. They do cocktails well, but the fancier ones better. I love their Kir Royale, yet have had a couple of rum and cokes with questionable levels of carbonation. That's okay, though. I usually stick to the fancy stuff there, anyway. Or wine at happy hour. Their cheese board is almost always enjoyable, and the bread that comes with it unlimited. One of these days I'll try their pasta bechamel dish that's always on the blackboard. They're usually playing some kind of subtle techno music, but not too loudly, which I appreciate, as the Sitting Room is a good place for talking. Some vintage jazz would be nice to hear and fit the mood, but then it all might be TOO perfect. No, let's keep the Sitting Room just the way it is.

I've passed this gem 100 times on my way home from work and didn't stop in until tonight with my roommate. Amazing atmosphere, friendly/helpful service, and tasty food. Well priced, good happy hour. All around I'm a fan (even helped me find a good gluten free meal). More then anything though I really like the cozy atmosphere. Definitely a great post work watering hole to catch your breath or prefect place to bring a date for a romantic conversation.

Good in theory. Looks great from the outside, nice soothing ambiance upon entry. Nice enough service - I prefer those behind the bar. Great date place. Wine is aiight - not a grocery store, astute in spurts. But as a wine drinker, I don't got there for the wine. Cocktail selection will pique your interest if you give the menu a moment. Just feels kind of sullied, sometimes. Can't really shake that.

I want to like this place but time and time again we go in hoping for a change and nothing has. It's the service that lacks BIG TIME. We have gone in, sat down and waited.....and waited...for a server to come. After 10+ min we fianally get service but after we finish the one drink it again takes forever to get a 2nd. We have often noticed that there is usually only one server plus the bartender, step it up especially on a busy weekend night and hire a 2nd server! The place does have a nice atmospher. I live in the area and would go more often but prefer many of the other bars in the neighborhood to this one.

  • Rachel H.

The Sitting Room has style and warmth, and it's just around the corner from home. Weeknights are especially good for enjoying the joint's atmosphere and the conversation of your companion. There's a server I take a shine to because she reminds me of my sister in previous incarnations. She sealed her high rank among servers with her handling of a weekend bartender situation recently. Dude poured my third glass of wine very...well, the damn glass was one-third full! I brought it up to her at the bar, she immediately understood, rolled her eyes and said, "Excuse him," and brought me back a proper quantity. The same server also fixed us a cheese plate on a different occasion when we wanted one after the kitchen was closed. I've always been happy with the cocktails and prices are fair enough. Also, incidentally, The Sitting Room was the site of the first date that led to me moving to Queen Anne. It's a winner!

We came here last night before hump(ing). Before you get all worked up about what I just said, note that the Stranger's 4th Annual Amateur... err... erotica festival was right around the corners at On the Boards. Knowing what we were about to see, we decided to pop in for a quick drink. If you've ever been to the festival, you probably know that a cocktail helps 'lube' or ease the eyes with what shows on the big screen for almost 2 hours. We walked in and the place was packed. No surprise, as the fest was sold out for all 3 showings that night. We found a table near the front right away and waited for some help. A good 5-7 minutes later, after we'd seen a server walk by us several times, a sweet gal handed us menus and said she'd be right back, which she was. I ordered the Malbec (they were out) and settled for another spanish red, of which the name escapes me at this moment. The bf had a Manhattan, which according to him, was alright. The ambiance is good, the service once we had it was attentive and good, Downfalls- even with a table, you might wait and wait and wait. Oh, and the bathrooms are pretty bad (they need a good scrubbin' ) and they don't fit with the rest of the ambiant decor. I've got every intention to come back for a bite here one of these days. The menu looks very good and I've always wondered about their cheese plate. Get those toities in check and I'll be a happy camper!

I love it! It's so cute and has a great atmosphere. It wasn't that expensive either, at least not as much as I expected. The cucumber martini was insanely refreshing. We ordered the brie with pecan sauce, but they had run out of sauce, so the chef made up a new kind of sauce just for us! It was delicious. Will definitely frequent this place.

I hate ultra hip places where people think they're too cool to be hanging out there, so I'm glad there are places like The Sitting Room. Went there on a Friday night and the place was packed. There was a cool little table right near the front door that makes it seem like you're on display for the rest of the world. Nice idea, but maybe I'll try it next time. Saw some other yelpers complain about service, but I guess we were in too mellow a mood, and too interested in talking to each other to really notice how long it took to get our drinks. Still, the waiter was attentive and always checked in with us when he saw our glasses were empty. Drinks themselves could have been a little stronger. I don't think my tolerance has increased by that much, but alcoholism does run in my family so I might have to factor that in. In any case, it's a great place to sit, hang out, people watch, explore ideas of threesomes, etc.

Loooove this place. I used to live next door and it became kind or a corner place to grab a drink. It particularly nice in the summer at night. They open the doors and have candles lit everywhere. It is a very romantic spot, but I would recommend going on a weekday because it gets packed on weekends.

A beautiful place that serves amazing drinks. Every drink I've ordered here was flawless. I usually come here specifically to have a Limoncello cocktail. Have also been pleased with the martinis and the Bellinis. This is a really nice place to come with a best friend to chat and drink and would also be a great spot to begin or end a date. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. Can not say the same about the female waitstaff.

Love the sitting room! Their happy hour is awesome and when you are jonesin for some wine and cheese this is the place for you. The HH wine is great ($4 for either house red or white) and their cheeseboard is available for $6. They always bring you bread to go with it and take the time to explain what the cheese is and where its from. I also always get the salumi salami plate for $4. More than enough food for a light dinner. The service is great and I've had the same waiter all three times I've been there. Sometimes he gets a little crazy so you have to flag him down but he's always accommodating - even when the group I was with moved 3 times and had the smallest table in the world and ordered like a million plates of food. Such a great atmosphere and so nice when its warm out and they have the garage door open. I'm SO glad I live close.

I love the warm, amber lighting, 1940's fringed sofa, and cozy cafe tables. Our server, Sherry, was wonderful. After hearing it was my friend's birthday, Sherry asked the chef to put our order in-- even though the kitchen had already closed. Thanks to the flexibility of both chef & Sherry, we dined on small plates of tapenade, olives, and a decadent brie soused with Kahlua and pecans. Inventive cocktail menu (I recommend the Pomegranate Cosmo), inviting ambience & excellent service.

this is a great place to go for happy hour. i would suggest sitting next to the window but on the inside, if you have the option. they had great munchies and we got the tapenade which was salty and yummy. I must say that I was a little disappointed in the fact that there was not enough Croccantini to finish the full happy hour portion. the drinks were a little pricey for happy hour prices but they were sweet and easy to drink. At the end of the day, this isn't a bad place to show up after work for a good drink or two.

Is it me? Why do I have such bad luck here? The server that I have had the two times I've been is very pleasant, don't get me wrong. The drinks are good and well balanced. I love the music and ambiance (downtempo electronica + euro decor + mood light). I have never used the bathroom, but reading other reviews I know to avoid. But something always goes wrong when I'm there; so that the server feels obligated to give me one of those "complimentary item menu gratis" cards for another visit. The first time it was a drink problem, second time it was a food problem. It's not him (he is lovely, really)....so maybe I'm cursed when I'm there? I ordered a Campari & soda (YUM) and a savory tartine....that just never arrived. Everyone else in the restaurant was getting their food, but not me, nuh-uh. 40 minutes later, the kind server brought me some yummy olive tapenade and crackers, cause he knew I was starving and broke the bad news that I would not be getting my tartine. He was sincerely apologetic. I had a few bites of tapanade, and then I had to run to catch a SIFF film at the Uptown. Dare I try it thrice? They say good things come in threes......

European style lounge and food. They serve Assietes, which are appetizers you can share between two people. They have a late happy hour from 11-close. Their cheese platter is the best in Seattle, and I would also recommend the Tartine. I was very impressed with this restaurant. Good signature cocktails as well! Also, very casual and a good place to hang out with friends.

I've gone to the Sitting Room several times prior to shows at OTB. For the most part the food is tasty and the cocktails are yummy. I like the atmosphere, and the Happy Hour cheese plate is pretty good. My only gripe is service can be painfully slow at times. I've had to wolf down a few meals in order to make the show next door.

I liked the environment at the sitting room. The server made great wine recommendations. Their menu needs some help. You can have a small menu, but still still offer variety-a concpt they need to explore. Everything seemed to have common ingredients and common flavors. Gourmet cooking is a hobby of mine and I remember the day I realized I was in a rut and that everything I was making seemed to taste the same. I was drawn to the same flavors and no matter how my meal was planned always went down the path of what was becoming my signature flavor. It became predictable. I've emerged from this and really had to step outside my comfort zone and not think about what I like when I'm cooking. I feel like this restaurant is in the "restaurant version of this 'rut.'" We ordered antipasti and tapanade. The tapanade was on the antipasti dish and the separate tapanade didn't have anything extra (but some yummy crackers) so we had lots of tapenade. Still hungry we ordered a cheese platter. The cheese we got was the same cheese that came with the antipasti, garnished with the same things as the other two apetizers...This continued with the meats... Even if the cheese would have been accompanied by a fruit spread or honey (something sweet) it would have changed everything. I feel like no matter what we ordered we got the same thing and it tasted the same. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but I don't know how to best describe where they went wrong, if you haven't had a similar experience. Poor menu planning, perhaps. I feel like maybe they have a small kitchen, limited sorage...A talented chef could make it happen with less. Ihope you appreciate where I'm coming from. I hope they fix this because this place has a lot of potential, but for now its a cute place to go for drinks before or after dinner. And don't waste your time or money ordering more than one thing because they all taste the same.

Yes, ambiance lures you into a bar, but service keeps you there. I'm happy to say that our server handled every curve ball we threw him with aplomb - our group started out as four, then became 9 in fits and spurts, then shrunk back down to four by the end of the night, and every one of us was promptly attended to throughout the evening. We even ended up ordering another full round at closing time because the server was patient enough to let us make up our minds to do so. Also, if you can't bear the lines outside the door for Salumi, you can come here instead and get a Salumi Salami appetizer. They were generous with the cornichons and it makes perfect group snacking while you speculate as to why the pseudo-couples keep getting up and going to the bathroom in groups.

I like it here, they make good cocktails and the location is fun. Nice atmosphere. It's too loud. If they would invest a bit in lowering the noise that reverberates off all the cement and wooden tables, I'd give them more stars for sure! Until then, I only occasionally go on slow nights. Shouting is the pits.

The food was good but we reserved the "semi-private room perfect for meetings," which ended up being just some tables in the corner of the main room that wasn't at all private or quiet enough to hear people 4 down the table from you. I'd come back with friends but I felt misled about the meeting space.

Here's a little story about my blind date at The Sitting Room... ***** On the phone before the date ***** Him: Let's meet at 7 at The Sitting Room. Me: (thinking, perfect, good place, he's decisive...) That works for me. Him: Wear nice shoes. Me: Excuse me? Wear nice shoes? Him: Yeah. Me: (slightly confused) Ok... ***** At the date ***** Him: (arrives late, swaggers in, sits down) Why didn't you order me a drink? Me: (stunned... flustered!) Well... that would have been presumptuous... I don't know what you drink. I probably would have ordered wine and maybe you don't drink wine. Him: Yeah, I don't drink wine. You would have been in trouble. Me: (thinking, who is this guy?!) Excuse me, before this date proceeds, I need to understand the "wear nice shoes" comment. Who says that? I need an explanation. Him: I think you liked it. Me: (definitely flustered now) What?! No! Seriously, who says that? Why did you say that? Him: Well... it's just that this is a nice place and it would be inappropriate for you to wear running shoes or something. Me: Ok, a) it's weird that you'd assume I'd wear tennis shoes if you had not instructed me otherwise and b) we live in SEATTLE! Even if I did wear running shoes, no one would care! (everything goes downhill - WAY downhill - from there, but I got a great story out of the evening) ------------- Things I love about the Sitting Room: 1) Great location - Queen Anne but not right smack dab, so you can actually find parking with a little patience; close to bus routes too for those nights when you have one too many glasses of wine or for when you need to dash out of a bad date - just claim that you have a bus to catch 2) Great atmosphere - Nice lighting, comfy seating, just generally a nice feel to it 3) Good menu with options for sharing with a group 4) Nice neighborhood place - There are regulars here but not so many that you feel like you're interrupting a private party if you're not a regular 5) Friendly servers... who are happy to confirm that it's fine for anyone to wear tennis shoes, even if they are a little casual - I asked! 6) Finally, I love that I've had enough very pleasant evenings at The Sitting Room to wipe out any bad associations I might otherwise have due to one bad date

On this weekend's trip to Seattle, I was fighting the cough from hell. I think the fact that it was chilly bones jones cold all weekend wasn't helping and so to combat the coughs and the runny nosage, my friend and i decided that a Hot Tottie would fix me right up! And so we traveled to this little place and ordered a round up, along with a few nibblies. We ordered the Bruschetta with blue cheese, pears and walnuts on a toasty, tasty bread, the salumi plate which was yummy with the cornichons and the olive tapenade. All were deelish, but the standout one was definitely the Bruschetta. Apparently they change it all the time, but this was one I will be stealing for my next dinner party. As for the place it is pretty sweet. Apparently it's a converted old mechanic's garage and they kept the theme going with the pull up door in the front, which was pretty neat. I also really liked the interior and the warm vibe it possessed. Very unique and comfortable. It's a great spot, so check it out!

As somewhat of a Francophile, I'm a sucker for bars like the Sitting Room. I was taken by the attention to detail put into making this place. The bistro tables with the authentic ornate table bases and marble tops. Light fixtures, artwork, WC signs it's all here to give you the feeling you are in France. They even use a pot Lyonnaise for their wine service and I've also noticed a couple of European accented servers. The place has a nice feeling to it. After work it is frequently crowded. Late night really cool feel with the dim lighting. Summertime the front opens up for an outdoor experience. With this great atmosphere, ambiance, it's too bad about the spotty service. It's been OK to poor. Slow getting to you and often a painfully long wait to get your drinks. We witnessed our drinks sitting on the bar for close to 10 minutes before our server brought them to us. On one occasion, we paid our tab with a couple of twenty's, waiter gave us change for $30 and didn't come back. When he finally did, and we pointed out his "error" he didn't bat an eye or even apologize and just nodded his head and gave us a ten, he knew it all along. The small plates are good but nothing too special. Perfectly adequate bites to go along with your drinks. Nice selection of European wines by the glass. Happy hour gets you a glass their current house wine for $4. If they upgraded their food service a bit and improved the level of the wait staff more than a bit, this would be my favorite bar in the city. Parking can be an issue.

Fruit and cheese board = yum! We had heard service could be a bit slow here, so we sat at the bar hoping that would speed things along. The pace was a bit "leisurely," but the cheese and wine made up for it. I will be returning.

In one word: classy. I love this spot. It is perfect for (strong!) cocktails with close friends and/or a glass of wine (or two or...) with a date. The menu is tapas-like and I've always enjoyed the food. This isn't the place for the Ozzy's crowd, but is less snooty than 10 Mercer. Minus one star for not having a full menu. The table service can be a little spotty if it's crowded, but no problem at all on slower evenings or before the On the Boards audience/cast shows up.

I dropped by with my bf to use a tippr coupon. We just had a few drinks and the whisky bread pudding. It was pretty busy for a Monday night. The atmosphere seemed cool, but not quite my scene. The dessert was so so, nothing spectacular. Everyone else appeared to enjoy it here. Don't think I'll return.

We went here after rolling out of Moxie last Saturday. I really didn't think I'd be able to drink anything and actually enjoy it after such a huge meal, but once I tasted the Cucumber Martini, I was one happy camper!!! Very refreshing! Somehow, the bevvies managed to go down much easier/faster than anticipated. This place has great atmosphere, and is a good spot to catch up with a small group of friends. It was pretty mellow when we got there around 7:30, but was hopping by the time we left (errrrr.... not sure when that was. Darned cucumber martinis!!). I'll definitely be back!

Super pricey and totally crappy service. It is one thing to over-charge if the service is good or the atmosphere, but come on. The cheese plate is embarrassing, go to Whole Foods and you can buy 4 times as much for the same price. The beer is okay, the cocktails are weak. I was really dissappointed. We have tried this place multiple times but everytime we end up saying "why did we go there again?" The staff is some of the most rude, ignorant and non-interested as I have found, everytime I have gone.

We enjoyed a very fun anniversary/birthday party this past weekend and really had a wonderful time! Very comfortable location and the atmosphere is reminiscent of European pubs and bistros. I loved the wine selection and the tartine was delicious! Can't wait to go back!

I had a private party for about 25 people and it was the perfect location! It's a great ambiance, with a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere, and their food and wine selection are fantastic! The bartenders also make some fantastic cocktails, all with fresh juices and ingredients- try the Sage Greyhound! Thanks Markus and crew. It was a lovely night!

Yes, another 5-star review from me, The Bar Queen. But honestly, I loved this spot. We were headed for a dueling piano bar (I know, I know... but it wasn't my idea!) and luckily got headed off by the snipey host who snippily informed us that (a) they'd lost our reservations and (b) we'd have to fork over $7 a head just to enter the joint, where no doubt we'd've been collectively hoisted up by our pantlegs and shaken until all the money fell out. So we left, and headed to The Sitting Room. And it was just delightful! It's rare that I can sit on stuffed furniture in a bar. I have a neurotic squeamishness about (a) bacteria leaping out of rents in vinyl stools or (b) finding lurking cigarette butts in the cracks between seat and back cushions. BLECH! But neither horrid thing happened here, or would be likely to happen. It's clean, clean, clean, and as inviting as a friend's living room. Our little group settled down in luxury on a couple of love seats and some stuffed easy chairs, and proceeded to get pretty blotto on really terrific cocktails. Their cucumber martini is oooh so good! Fresh, vegetal-yet-sweet, and totally refreshing. A tall cocktail made with limonata and - I dunno - sunshine? - was similarly yummy. We ordered their bruschetta of the day and had our doors blown off. Big slabs of freashly grilled bread were slathered with a wickedly generous pile of goat cheese, then topped with teensy, perfectly ripe cherry tomatoes, halved and tossed with extra virgin olive oil and chopped fresh herbs. I've never had better bruschetta anywhere. Russell's eyes were rolling back into his head with pleasure. (Sorry - I know that's not a pretty visual - but the truth must be told!) Our waitress was delightful - friendly and efficient. The bartenders were smart and funny. And it's strolling distance from home for me! I'll be BAAAAAAAAAACK!

The Sitting Room has a come-lounge-here-forever vibe and I love it! I have driven by this place so many times and parked my car to go to.....Pesos. Well not this time. I came here for happy hour and again the next week for drinks. This bar is cozy, romantic and a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. It's a one-size fits all kind of bar so you can come with your honey or a group of friends, etc and just kick back. The food and drinks are pretty good, but the ambiance is what keeps me coming back.

I've been to the Sitting Room many times, and each time I think it will get better. I work around Queen Anne and like that this place, because it's a cute low key bar. The food and drinks are not that great, the drinks are very weak, especially for what your paying. The service is also ok, there is a waitress who is very good and sweet, she is very petite with short dark hair. The service has always been great with her. The other waitress who has tattoos is not that great. Her service is a little slower and she's not as friendly. There has also been a couple times when I've seen the staff outside smoking before the bar is closed. That is unprofessional, something you don't typically see right outside the business. It's unfortunate that the Sitting Room has not been up to par, because it is in a good location for my friends, co-workers and I, since we all work/live nearby. The service and the drinks are very weak compared to many other places in Seattle. I wouldn't say it was absolutely terrible, but there many are other places I would choose to go to first.

Love the extensive cocktail list and the $4.50 house wine. This place has a nice European vibe without seeming pretentious, and would probably be a great spot for a date. I came dressed-down with a group of friends and we fit right in. I mostly wanted to note that the service was really great, in contrast to some of the other reviews here. Our waiter was friendly, happy to discuss the menu, and quick with the drinks. He even brought me a sample of a liqueur to try when I asked him about an ingredient in one of the cocktails. It was a good experience and I'll definitely be back.

All I can say is "cheese plate heaven"! I have always said that I could live on artisan cheeses alone and this place really reiterated that notion for me. My BFF and I were gaga for the "Tartine" which is crisp french bread topped with fig spread, Gorgonzola, and prosciutto, Sinful correct? Then we both had a salad just to say we were getting our greens, and they were amazing also. She was gleeful over the HUGE caprese and I was loving the Chorizo date salad I ordered. For dessert we shared the Kahlua Pecan Brie, served hot and gooey. All in all my new favorite spot in lower QA. Also if you are a lover of greyhounds like me, please try the sage greyhound, It's a revelation!

This is a great place to meet a friend for a drink and a couple small plates. Inside feels a bit European with its hodge podge of furniture and cozy feel. The servers let you linger and are perfectly timed with their service, letting you talk with your company but also knowing when to come over to ask you what you may need. There is a small outdoor area with seating so on a warm summer day it is the perfect location to sit with one of their inventive and tasty drinks. Just a nice neighborhood spot to get simple food and delicious drinks.

I had my first visit to the sitting room quite recently, and I will definitely be back. I was too late to enjoy their tasty-sounding menu of appetizers, but I can't wait! I had several delicious cocktails, but didn't feel like I was in a "cruisey" bar.... just a cool place to relax and unwind after a long day. The wine list seemed a little pricey and nothing caught my eye- this looks like the perfect spot for a cosy little wine bar, too, so it suprised me although I suppose I should taste them before judging. Also... cute bartender.

Not the kind of place I frequent, but!... I always end up here at the tail end of a date where I'm nursing them back to the here and now of sober-land. The server/service has always been nice, and they're surprisingly not put off - though I manage to stay pretty coherent which I'm sure helps. Drinks are good, people are nice. Food, I have no idea.

A group of us met here to get the party started for my sister's bachelorette bash. Everyone except me had a glass of wine, I went for the lemonade mojito. Really good and not too 'spensive. Cute little bar/lounge, nice and dark. Waiter gave my sis a free drink cuz she was decked out in a veil and flashing necklaces. Good service.

This is a great quaint spot in Queen Anne. It's a little off the main drag, quiet and serene. The cocktails are nummy and they have a variety of small plates. Happy hour seems to be good as well. The staff is friendly and willing to chat you up if you are in the mood. I have made this my spot to have a first meet and greet when meeting someone new. Seems I am not the only one. Everytime I go there, there seems to be many first dates. I recommend it for a first time meeting. I have had good results here, hopefully you will too;)

Annoyingly hovering yet somehow also slow service. 20% Service charge assigned to bar service (and perhaps others) which is likely why everything is so slow and bitchy; they're getting paid no matter what they do. I would think that this place would be more comfortable with a name like "the sitting room." I was thinking there might be places to sit instead of little high perched stools that made me feel like some kind of alcoholic vulture. House cocktails seem alright if you dont mind $9 drinks. If they were better, I would say more about them. Noisy, uncomfortable, and expensive while remaining boring. Quite a feat. I will not be returning.

This place is awesome! It's such a cute and quaint little place. I would go here more often if I could afford it. It seems like most of the drink selection is pretty top shelf. But happy hour is great. The featured red wine you can get for like $4.50 and it's really good wine. I've had two items from the happy hour food menu too. One was this sort of olive paste with crackers, it was SO good. And then I had the artisan cheese plate which was also very very good. The staff is always nice and very attentive. I have no complaints.

I was in town for a wedding and extended my trip. We stayed in the Mediterranean Inn which is walking distance. The Sitting Room was a great place for us to grab a drink before we called it a night. The atmosphere is relaxed and low key. The wine was great. We were not hungry but still wanted something to snack on. We ordered the Artisan cheese tray. It was small and the cheese was okay. A little disappointing but not so much that I wouldn't suggest the Sitting Room to a friend.

Easy. This place is easy. You can sit down and have a cocktail with one person, have a great an intimate or meet several friends for some group fun. I typically go for drinks at the bar (yummy), but see many people on dates here. Can get a little busy, but never real crowded, after shows get out at the neighboring On the Boards.

First time to this place prior to a performance, reservation was for 4 people. Arrived and they lost it. We were seated after they moved another couple to a smaller table 1/2 an hour late. Waitress was rude and didn't seem to care. Food (if you can call it food, more like finger appetizers) was not worth the price, especially since our dining experience was rushed after poor service.

The sitting room is a great place to relax with friends or take a date for some cozy conversation. It's dimly lit and cute as hell inside. I always sit at the bar and have a few glasses of cheap wine for happy hour. The bartenders are always willing to chat, and one sweet girl let my husband and I pester her with questions about France (where she was from) for an hour. The menu is limited but very tasty for a light snack - a great cheese plate and some good salads.

What's not to love about The Sitting Room? The drinks are superb (my personal faves are the Mint Lemonade and the Sage Greyhound both very refreshing). They have a great happy hour from 5-7 with excellent prices on food and drinks (definitely get the cheese plate)! But, I think the great staff and friendly service is what truly brings people back to The Sitting Room over and over! Oh and can you say ATMOSPHERE? You must experience The Sitting Room -- I guarantee you'll love it and be back. If not, there's probably something wrong with you.

I came here after a dinner date for dessert and wine. The ambiance is mostly what shoots this up to four stars, because the wine list is just ok. The desert (as far as I can remember) was a fruit tart and was quite tasty. I kept eyeing everyone else's stuff and all the little appetizer bites looked great. I don't know about sitting in the back...I think the little tables by the window are where its at. This is a perfect date place or good for catching up with friends. Very lo-key so don't expect a rager over here. Also, don't expect great service...the night we were in it was impossible to find or flag down our waiter....we just had to be patient, but the more time I live in this city the less it bothers me....meh.

This is in my neighborhood so I have to be biased :) I really like this place it's a great place for a date, or for a more intimate setting with friends. They have plenty of seating and on warm days have a few tables outside. Their food is mediocre at best, and their happy hour is really only useful for drinks. I love the sofas they have there where you can sit and lounge for hours over cocktails and beer.

Ah, Sitting Room. You were my first "grown-up" bar. After moving into my tiny studio apartment, I decided to find a bar I could call my own. Ozzies was tried, and even enjoyed for a bit, but the immature crowd and over salted bar food grew tiresome. I then discovered the Sitting Room, right around the corner. The "Happy Hour 5 - 7" sign brought me in, but it was the atmosphere, the hip and friendly staff, and the food and wine that kept me going back for years. Unfamiliar and unpronouceable foods were intimidating for a novice such as me at first. The Sitting Room soon became the favorite place for friends and neighbors. I miss those cold rainy nights having a half price glass of house red, bowl of hot soup and anti pasta plate. The Sitting Room is great for: after work drinks, light meals, and a cozy place to hang out with friends. They serve an excellent cheese plate, and Salumi salami, not to be missed. Homemade soups are very good, and there is a different bruscetta feature each week.

This place was a welcome surprise when I moved to LQA. It was a five minute walk from my apartment and it was a good standby when I couldn't think of any other place to go with friends, or just a mellow place to hang out on a week night. One of the best first dates I ever had was here. We actually ended the night at Sitting Room with cocktails and Scrabble and I got my ass beat on triple letter scores. Definite pluses: great staff, cheese plate, outdoor seating, people watching

My good friend Nari took me here a few weeks ago and I was so pleased with the whole place. The atmosphere was so cozy and comfortable. Marcus, the owner is an awesome guy who makes a perfect cocktail. We had the Tartine and it was soooo good!!! I would highly reccomend this place.

I have lived in queen anne for three years and in those years nothing in the neighborhood compares to this stylish, sexy little bar. The service is good. I would check teh specials board for great soups. The wine list is the best I have seen in Seattle so far. I do wish they had a chess board for cozy winter nights cuddled up on their couch during the week. Weekends are great, as it is home to people that don't make me cringe.

I really enjoy the Sitting Room when it isn't overcrowded with people going to a Seattle Center event. I like that they don't do the "no happy hour specials during Seattle Center event nights" unlike other LQA establishments (I'm looking at you, 10 mercer), especially since I live in the LQA and seldom attend Seattle Center festivities. My favorite time to visit is when it is sunny & warm outside and the garage door is open. It's one of the few bars I could imagine being perfectly comfortable hanging at alone for an extended period of time.

The Sitting Room is a cute spot hidden in the shadow of Pesos and other big bars in the Lower Queen Anne area. I really liked the atmosphere when I walked in. We snacked on some of the happy hour items and a few glasses of wine. The place was packed but there was a concert that night at Key Arena which explains the huge crowd.

I love the ambience. Just the general amber tone of the lighting--it's dark and comfy. And it makes me feel like I've been transported back to Europe. Could be London; could be Paris. I take any cool visiting friends here. Their menu is lovely and over the past 4 years has changed a lot. They used to have lovely soups and paninis, now it's very light appetizers, but they are high end and low price. I long for the days when they were in kahoots with the French pastry chef though. Ah well. I could easily give them a 5 but the fact that the staff seems to revel in being SLOW in an attempt to be, what ... more European? No, it just equals inattentive no matter how you analyze it. I do appreciate being left to enjoy my drink/conversation/meal without feeling rushed, but some nights it's just bad behavior. Surely it doesn't cover all the waitstaff, but I've experienced it with three different servers over 4 years so I began to fear it was endemic. Not as if it's keeping me away though.

Good for sitting indeed!!! The atmosphere was warm and inviting and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the drinks. The guys I was with were all swooning over her faint British accent. This is a great place to sit back, grab some strong drinks and catch up with friends.

This is becoming a regular haunt now.... cucumber martinis are heavenly. Great place to sit and read during the week when it's quieter. For food, share plates of the prosciutto, fig, Gorgonzola bread, and Kahlua brie with pecans and some greens.

**** NEW REVIEW***** I need to write a review on top of my old review because I have since gone to the sitting room and while the 3 stars stays, I have other things to say. Went there again when it was lighter outside and a gorgeous day. The garage door/side wall thingie was open, which let a lot more light into the room. This allowed me to see the art on the walls and the cool colors surrounding the whole place. So I take back my snide remarks about the crappy walls. Service was kind of crappy though, we have to stare our waiter down on a few occasions to get our vodka tonics, but after only two, I was feeling pretty good. *****END NEW REVIEW***** Wow, I'm not entirely sure why everyone's giving rave reviews about this place. I thought it was too dark, stuffy, and pretty ugly inside. It looked like they took a really crappy looking place and just turned the lights really low so you couldn't see the nasty ceiling and surroundings. Other than that, it's alright. Don't come here for food, they only have appetizers. I guess it's alright for chilling, having a couple drinks before dinner, or what have you, but other than that, I don't see what the big deal is. It was alright, but seemed like a child bar trying to look grown up.

Went last night for a few drinks and a snack. Very comfortable place, attentive staff and great food and good cocktail selection. We had the soup and sandwich special off the 'slate board', both of which were very good. Highly recommended if you haven't been.

Really flavorful, delicious (snacky-type) food, with a respectable liquor menu. The service has always been great, and I've never had a bad time here. It does tend to get CROWDED and LOUD (see above for reasons), so if that's not your thing, go early or on a weeknight. A regular destination for patrons and players from On the Boards, which is right around the corner.

The Sitting Room is great! Perfect neighborhood bar with a happy hour going from 5-7pm. Draft beer - $3.50, house red/white wine - $4. The food is more European (salami, bread, tapas, cheese plates) etc. which is pretty good and reasonably priced. The place is kind of dark, which I love. So cozy. Comfortable seating - get the couch if you can. It's always busy, but I've never seen it PACKED. Go there now while it's still slightly undiscovered and you'll love it!

This is my favorite bar!! The owner and staff are simply LOVELY. Take your spending dollars here for consistently good food drinks and atmosphere!! It's my "CHEERS"... and nowadays, we all need a place "where people know your name" !

Okay, so here's the reason for the 4 stars and not the 5 stars........... All was good, great happy hour......and so on. The draughts were three and half dollars and the smell of tapas ruled the air...My god what luxury in the quaint part of Queen Anne! Drinks were great, however, I could've done without the roller derby practice session going on upstairs.....ARGH!!!!!

A-MAZ-IIIIING! I tried this place for happy hour last Friday and it definitely did not disappoint. I'm tellin' you, please try the tartine appetizer. It is to die for - slices of toasted french bread topped with brie, prosciutto and some sort of fig jelly. OMG. That alone did it for me. It also didn't hurt that they had Hoegaarden during HH... mmm...

The first time I came here, the service was amazing, the food was delectable, the drinks were perfect, and the atmosphere was quel European. I went back tonight, six months after my first visit. They've changed managers, and the cozy atmosphere/furniture disappeared. The service was quite brusque. The food was fine, the drinks were fine, but tonight's experience reinforced the importance of staff and atmosphere. I'm kinda sad - I took a friend there after bragging about how GREAT it is and then it was just ... meh. I hope they go back to the old atmosphere...

Ambiance was good, Warm light and pleasant people, Drinks got mixed reviews. The Sitting Room has always attracted me from the outside so I was looking forward to trying the place out. I was in a party of 4 and was pleasantly surprised to find a little corner table open on a Saturday night at 10pm. The lounge was full but not too crowded and while there was a great energy in the room, we were able to carry on a good conversation. We only had drinks and our reviews of these drinks were mixed; the Lemoncello was exactly what I was looking for - something light, not too sweet, a little spritzy, and refreshing. The Bitter B lives up to its name and the Pomegranate Cosmo was yummy with a kick. Our server was attentive and checked back in with us for seconds a couple of times (without being pushy at all). I'm giving this 4 stars (though I would give it a 3.5 if I could); we were not disappointed, but nor were we wowed. It's a solid lounge experience and you get what you order. I am looking forward to trying out their happy hour as well as what sounds like wonderful appetizers!

They never mentioned that they were out of bread. We ordered the brie, which was delivered on a plate with no bread, crackers, etc to spread it on. We asked for bread and the waitress brought a bowl of cut-up pieces of wheat sandwich bread -- and not the good stuff. If your choice is get out the Franz or steer customers to less-bread reliant dishes, please go with the latter. Why would you try to pass that off? Lame.

I am so lucky. I live less than 2 blocks away from the Sitting Room. I don't have to twist my Capitol Hill/Eastlake/Other hood's friends' arms to meet me there. Awesome place to go with girlfriends, boyfriends, dates, alone, parents, or anyone else for that matter. Love the food, love the drinks (although for some reason I always feel they are pricey, which they really aren't- I think it's the chic french atmosphere which has me thinking 'rich'), love the glowing globe on the counter. Hmm, can't really think of anything bad to say except I wish they were open Monday evenings as that always seems to be the night I walk my dog by and want to get a drink/food solo.

A girlfriend and I tried the Sitting Room for a drink and quick dinner before catching a show at the Seattle Rep down the street. The first thing we noticed upon walking in was that the place smelled fabulous - not sure if it was the candles or some dessert baking, but it was definitely enticing and made us feel warm and welcomed! We ordered off of the happy hour menu, which is a super deal. The house red wine was great for $4, and we were satisfied with our smoked salmon and cheese platter. I felt like the fruit was a little skimpy (4 or 5 apple slices?) on the cheese plate, but the cheese selection was yummy and ample for two people. They also had carrot-apple-ginger soup on the menu, which looked very tempting. We only had aboout 30 minutes before we had to leave for the show, and the service was prompt and friendly. Would definitely recommend if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a small bite and a good drink selection. It's an ideal place for an intimate outing with a friend or date.

This is one of my FAVORITE places to have drinks with friends. The location in the amazingly adorable Queen Anne area makes it the perfect spot to meet up. The drinks are always good (my personal favorite is the Sage Greyhound) and the service is untouchable as far as bars go. The interior is so cozy you feel like you're sitting in someone's living room having an intimate talk, no matter how many people are around you (it's always packed). My favorite dish on the appetizer menu is the Tapenade & Croccantini however the cheese plates are a little sparse for the price. You just need to be careful of how fast your tab adds up, even during happy hour, because we've never left here spending less than $90 between four of us. I think this only happens because everything is so tasty you can't help but order drink after drink! The Sitting Room is ALWAYS a great time with friends!

I just went for happy hour at the Sitting Room last week, and I can guarantee to you that I will be back. It's a small place with quirky decor, a tiny bit of outdoor seating, and great happy hour food and drinks. I started out with the Pear Sidecar, which was okay, but then I switched to the house red, which was surprisingly good. For eats, we had the cheese plate (tasty, but small), the tapanade (also tasty but small), the salami (also tasty, but small), and the tartine (OUT OF THIS WORLD!). The tartine was definitely the favorite of the table. Even if the service sucked, which it didn't, I would go back just for another taste of the sweet and salty goodness.

Want a mellow, chill place to drink, snack with friends/lovers at a decent price? The Sitting Room is a nice bar/lounge in the European sense with Seattle's laidback vibe. They had a nice menu of light fares (cheese plates, antipasto, salads, etc). I met an acquaintance here for some drinks, he ordered Guinness and I got coffee. We spent 4 hours here (unaware that time flew) and the wait staff never bugged us. Pretty chill wait staff. Very accommodating. I would definitely go back again and its one of the places in Lower Queen Anne that keeps late hours. A plus.
