It was ok. I have had better. My Salmon was on top of a bunch of roasted pearl onions...Do people really eat those? I made the reservation early in the morning for the same day for my office's "Christmas celebration" lunch, and they sat us in the table literally right next to the front door and the restaurant was pretty much empty. It was weird.

Stopped in real quick to try a Pineapple vodka drink that was suggested to us. We got two shots. They were pretty good. I guess its just pineapple infused vodka. The container sits on the counter with the large pineapple chunks in it. The bill: $32. For two shots. That's it. Just two. One, Two...

What a delightful experience! The Capital Grille has all the decor of a classic east coast steakhouse - low lighting; dark wood panels, heavy white tablecloths with the occasional deer head mounted on the wall. My friends and I arrived thirty minutes before our reservations and they accommodated us by seating us early with a smile. It is the details that make a dinner good to exceptional. Upon being seated those of us who were wearing darker clothes were given black linen napkins and those of us who were wearing lighter clothes received white linen napkins. When someone left for the restroom a passing waiter would refold the napkin and place it on the table. Our drinks never ran dry. It is the little details that make me go oooooh. Our waiter was a kinder older man who reminded me of my grandfather - very nice with strong opinions. I appreciated that immensely! No wishy washyness, no kowtowing, he gave honest recommendations and they were spot on. I had the filet mignon with crab on top and béarnaise sauce. It was stunningly delicious. After dinner he provided us a small cheesecake and chocolate dessert as a welcome to Capital Grille! The cheesecake was so good we ordered another! Our waiter would frequently stop by to make sure everything was good, but never was intrusive. Everything came out delicious, the service was incredible! I couldn't help but to recommend Capital Grille!

Happy Hour review only. Great happy hour! The bar is very ritzy and has that feel of Old School Business Deals. The drinks and snacks are now $8. I tried the Bohemian which was good but very strong fresh grapefruit taste was a little overwhelming for me. I also tried the signature pineapple drink and it was AMAZING. I would recommend that drink above all others (as it was recommended to me). The staff was friendly, pointed out the people in the painted pictures & served us some curried nuts. Did get pretty busy at the end of happy hour but was fairly empty around 5pm.

The food I thought was worthy of 4 stars. It was great but a fifth star is added only if the food changed my life heh. However , I thought the service was top notch and worthy of over 5 stars haha . Our waiter , Matthew, was spectacular and took fine dining to the next level. Made sure everything we ordered was prepared exactly the way we wanted. Checked up on us throughout our meal but wasn't too overbearing . The specials of the night all sounded delicious : 35 day dry aged rib eye , bone in filet and s. African lobster tail. We opted for the dry aged ribeye , s African lobster tail, kona crusted NY w/ shallot butter , wedge salad, roasted corn w jalepeno, and fingerling potatoes. Everything tasted great but my only minor complaint was that the sides were overly buttered and oily ( I still ate it all though ) but i felt a little bleh and heartburnish afterwards . Next time I'll probably have to request it to be prepped with less butter. My dry aged steak was Cooked perfectly rare and it was the perfect thickness . The 602 ( 601?) vodka martini was the best I've ever had. The olives were stuffed with anchovy and parmasean. I've never seen that combo before and it sounds weird to have an anchovy in a drink ( though I do like them in my food) but that subtle anchovy flavor rounded out and elevated the flavor of the martini in a surprising way. Really tasty ! It's funny I'm raving about an anchovy martini . Their signature stoli doli martini, made of pineapple infused vodka , was also very refreshing and not overly sweet . What a great night I'll definitely be back for that vodka martini. :)

Capital Grille is one of the best steak restaurants in Seattle! The food is delicious, service is flawless and ambience is classy and upscale. They even go out of their way to give your experience a special touch. We have eaten here about 6-7 times in the past five years. A few times we came during restaurant week. We have also dined here for Valentine's Day and for just catching up over a nice dinner with friends. No matter what the occasion, Capital Grille has never failed to impress. My favorite item that I always order is their steak. Always cooked perfectly and delicious! My go-to cut is filet mignon. I have also enjoyed the caesar salad, lobster mac and cheese, creme brûlée and chocolate cake. Although these dishes sound simple and classic, they are able to execute so perfectly each time. Loved my wine. Yes! Service is top notch. They have valet for your car right outside the restaurant. This sure beats downtown parking. Why yes, I would love to have my coat checked as I enter the restaurant. The waiter is always super professional, friendly and prompt. When we came for Valentine's Day, they even snapped a photo of us and gave us a framed print out so we could enjoy the memory. I was so impressed and really appreciated the extra effort that they made. They have definitely won points from me. My favorite steak restaurant in Seattle. We greatly enjoy celebrating special occasions here, and will definitely be back soon.

Both of the times I've been here, I have LOVED the service! Cap Grille has an upscale/classy feel, but I've yet to meet a pretentious server. Each time that I've been here, our server has always asked if we had time restrictions, which I find really considerate. I think they also keep track of your visits in their system, because they welcomed me back on my second visit. It felt more personable, because they greet you by name. On my second visit, our server was really good at casually suggesting drinks, appetizers, and desserts, without being overly pushy. So far, I've tried their Maine lobster roll, and lobster and dungeness crab burger. Both were delish! Their truffle fries were different on each visit; once thin-cut, once thick-cut. Really liked that they weren't heavily doused in truffle oil, but nicely seasoned. The lobster roll has even become something I occasionally crave now (sad for my wallet). It's definitely not those bigger portioned lobster rolls I've seen on IG.. but man, the brioche, the lobster! They also have a "lunch special/plate" where you can choose a soup/salad and an entree from a list for $18.

Had lunch couple of days ago, solid 4 stars for service and food. Priced well for lunch. Ordered: Calamari appetizer, Tuna, Fillet mignon, Crab cake. Only thing might be 2-3 stars is Tuna dish rest of the orders solid 4 stars - would recommend.

Fine place to stop by for a Martini before going to the Symphony. Very fine service and the drink prices are inline with the other places on each of the corners that surround the Capital Grill. Never had the food.

Excellent Service! We were craving a good steak and finally got around to trying the Capital Grille. We weren't that hungry when we got there so we ordered on the light side. We liked the complimentary valet and it saves a lot of time looking for parking even though tonight wasn't busy. Here's what we got: Bibb Stack Salad, Fresh Strawberries with Sherry Vinaigrette served with gorgonzola, walnuts, fresh sliced strawberries and sherry vinaigrette = The salad was fresh but the dressing lacked flavor. It was too light. Steak Tartare = the steak needed more time being minced b/c it was still in big chunks. It lacked good flavor so we added salt and that helped. I didn't like it on top of capers and chopped hard boiled eggs b/c it took away from the flavor of the meat that should stand alone or with a raw egg. Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tails = this was cooked perfectly at medium rare. I prefer my lobster to be poached so it was perfect. It all came in a butter sauce that I could've done without having my meat in it. Dry Aged Sirloin Steak - 14 oz = they overcooked my boyfriend's medium rare to be a medium well to well done steak. He told them that but wanted to keep it and just inform them. Without him asking for a new steak (he didn't want to waste it) they fired up a new one, brought over the manager to talk to us, gave him a refill on his wine and brought mashed potatoes. The new steak they gave him was rare but he likes it that way so he ate it anyway and it was better than well done. I wasn't crazy about the au jus and prefer my steak to stand on it's own. I think I'm partial to kobe. Sam's Mashed Potatoes = Red Bliss potatoes, sweet cream, butter and salt. - these potatoes were awesome. So much buttery goodness. The red wine my bf got was good and a suggestion from the waiter. We would've given it about 3 stars for the food but the service was awesome so it bumped it up a star. They went above and beyond to make sure my boyfriend's steak was fixed.

Enjoyed The Capital Grille for the first time on a girls weekend. The food was amazing! We shared bone-in filet, South African lobster, calamari, asparagus, lobster mac and cheese. But an even bigger treat was the impeccable and personal service. The entire staff - hostess, bartender, waiter, manager - were attentive and provided the perfect amount of service and sociability. The bar and restaurant were beautiful. Definitely a high quality establishment that I will visit again.

Stuck between three and four stars. The wait staff was phenomenal when I went alone, I had a filet mignon and the mashed potatoes which were both insanely good. Environment is great too. The only reason I won't do five stars is because when I first went, the wait staff barely even entertained me and even less my girlfriend. We had both sat down and they gave me the kind of act like I'm going to not be able to pay for the meal. (I was 19 at the time, blue jeans, black shirt. Engineering and programming at Boeing) After a lack of service and being ready to order for a while, the server would not even look at my girlfriend, and asked me what she will be having.. This isn't the 1930s. Women are people too. We left and went to the neighbor restaraunt purple.

My previous four star rating seemed like blasphemy after all the experiences I have had with this place following my last review. It was like looking into the eyes of an adorable wide-eyed baby penguin and hesitantly saying, "I guess you're a LITTLE cute." This place isn't just kindaaa good. It's damn good. Very few places function at the same caliber customer service as this place does. Good lord. The way they take care of you here can only be matched by how your very hospitable and loving grandma who you only see once a year spoils you rotten. Yes, they SPOIL you. I've been here for lunch a few times and then for a private event hosted by my company. Every single time was stellar but I have to give them so much props (like it's the early 2000s) over how they handled our private event. Fewer people than those who RSVP'd yes showed up to the event. As the event started to wind down, there was still a lot of extra food. Even though it felt like a taboo thing to do, I asked for a box so I can take some food home. Our server seemed to take longer than the hot minute I figured it would have taken him to grab a box. When he came out, he had a bagful of already packed boxes. Apparently because we had extra food anyway, they figured they would just grab me a fresh batch of their food and package it up. It was with the thought that 1) I could mingle longer instead of setting up my food to-go and 2) I wouldn't have to sort through the already picked over food they had out. It was such a sweet and thoughtful thing to do! I was so impressed. Their to-go boxes even have a little note from the chef thanking you for liking their food enough to take it home. That was also very cute. And don't for one second think that the service is only good when you're with a private event. I have come here not dressed to the nines for a casual lunch and yet I was treated with the utmost hospitality. It didn't even feel like a restaurant. It felt like being welcomed into someone's home. As someone who coordinates meetings/lunches/dinners, I love hosting here because I know that the kind of attention to detail I would want for those events is what this place will give. The food is great. It's more old-fashioned steakhouse fare and perhaps less interesting to most foodies who want some molecular gastronomy or sprigs of microgreens on their plate. Regardless of that detail, there's no denying it's thoughtfully prepared and delicious. It will make everyone happy -- to kids from one to ninety-two. Like I can seriously take my toddler godbaby here and if my grandparents were alive, I know they would like this place, too. Overall, great food and amazing staff. It's worth every penny. Capital Grille, you're not just kindaaaa good. You're excellent.

Updating my review because I enjoyed my meal much more this time around. My delmonico steak with aged balsamic was HUGE, and cooked really well. I enjoyed it, and only ate half. Fiance's tenderloin with poached lobster tails was still amazing as we remembered, and the sides we got - creamed spinach and truffle fries were delicious as well. Overall, delicious, filling meal. Also, service was great! We were given a complimentary dessert platter since we were celebrating my fiance's birthday, and it yummy! It had homemade cheesecake which was amazingly light and fluffy, and chocolate ganache. Though we were full, we cleaned the plate :) We'll be back the next time we have a reason to splurge a little on dinner ;)

I ate here on a business trip to Seattle. Though it came highly recommended, and the food was good, I'm giving it a ho-hum review. On checking in I was asked to provide my name. I didn't want to. I'm not from Seattle so there was no need to provide my info. As you see in my other reviews, I like steak houses, but I disagree with a place charging $40+ for just a piece of meat on a plate. For that price there should either be a side salad or in-season veggies on the side. I had the porcini rubbed delmonico steak, done medium. I loved it, it was well cooked and melted in my mouth. However I didn't like having to shell out for a side salad separately when some form of veggies should be served with the meal. Every good chef should be responsible to provide a balanced meal. Obviously the person who put the menu together is not a good chef. All in all, I liked the food, but I'm not going to repeat.

First night in Seattle and we were not sure where to go for dinner. Walked by this place and said hey let's give it a try. We ordered French onion soup, wedge salad and split the dry aged porter house between two people, also had a side of curried cauliflower. Hmm where do I begin? The French onion soup had amazing flavor and the cheese was melted to perfection, the crouton in the soup was a bit hard only negative thing I have to say about this entire experience. Then next came the wedge salad with freshly cooked bacon warm crumbles on top. Pretty much licked the plate on that one. Finally out came the steak. They were kind enough to split the steak onto two plates. This was the BEST steak I've ever eaten in my life. It melted like butter in my mouth and had such amazing flavor. WOW!!! Highly recommend if you are in the mood for the best steak of your life. Wonderful experience

What really stands out at Capital Grille is the personable and above and beyond customer service. Everyone I talk to is engaged and on their top game in my interactions. This engagement is combined with excellent food quality and execution where you won't be disappointed when your order arrives. In my last visit, Turkey Day 2014 started with oysters that were fresh, cold and tasty complimented with a champagne vinaigrette along with cocktail sauce & some fresh horseradish; very tasty and great starter. The turkey and dressing was as you'd expect but not homestyle and more sophisticated; all white meat and sliced in at least 5 large slices. I also got some black meat and it was really beautiful and I'd definitely ask for for it if you come for Turkey Dinner (see photos). The ambiance is modern mixed with traditional steak house feel; large leather lined chairs and booths with a bit of a corporate feel. Guess because some of their competition have the kitchen integrated into the ambiance where you can see the food being prepared. Was well treated and met both of the floor managers and felt like being a VIP. This is one of the most engaging restraunts I've ever visited. Be prepared to pay as for getting top treatment your going to pay top dollar.

This place was great. Great food and great service... great. Soup 5/5 French onion soup- GREAT flavor, perfectly cooked onions and the cheese on top was creamy and delicious. I love me some french onion soup and this was one of the best. Sides- 2/5 To be honestly the part I liked least about this place were the sides, none of them "wow'd" us. Potatoes au gratin 1/5 We found ours to not be as creamy and flavorful as some other high end steakhouses we frequent. Maybe it just needed more salt, but I was really disappointed with this side. Lobster mac n cheese 2/5 Meh. It did have large chunks of delicious lobster and that was it. The cheese sauce wasn't very good or plentiful. I like my noodles all covered in cheesy goodness. There were a lot of naked noodles. Steak 6/5 I ordered the special of the night which was a bone in filet mignon. WOW, this may be the best cut of meat I've ever tasted. It melted like butter and was seasoned perfectly. This steak made me forget about the lackluster sides, I was in love. If this is ever an option while you are there, order it!!!! PERFECT steak. Dessert 4/5 Strawberries Capital Grill 3.5/5 Strawberries with ice cream on top. It was good and refreshing after a meat and potato kind of meal. Creme Brulee 5/5 I've had many a creme brulee and I can't figure out why this one tasted so much better, but it did. Well done Capital grille Service 4/5 Our server was great very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I don't remember his name but, he was great. Solid performance Overall this place is really good and obviously extremely popular. If this place had better sides, it may have taken my top spot for steakhouses.

This place reminds me of places I used to go with my parents back in the 70s. Rich in detail and comfort, we found this place to be a classy experience without pretension. They valet park your car for free(!) My dining partner and I both ordered a steak and seafood plate and to be frank, it was outstanding. Funny though, as it was presented as a rather small portioned dish, but both of our plates unexpectedly filled us to the brim. I also had a simple wedge salad as well. Wait service was again professional without being snobbish. Cocktails were excellent albeit quite pricey. Noise level was a little on the louder side, but the place was packed. Jacket service is offered. One app, two meals, three drinks and tip comes to about $200. Would return Nice time!

First of all, I'm a fan of Capital Grill and have had many memorable experiences there so was happy to hear we were going there tonight for a retirement and birthday party. When we arrived, we were greeted by cheerful valets, hostess and friendly wait staff. I was telling some of the guests what a wonderful time I had here last year for my birthday party and some of the other memorable experiences I've enjoyed here too. We had a large group and they gave us the private room. I was primed for another wonderful experience. We ordered our food and drinks and they came promptly. This is where my experience changed with the previous ones since the food wasn't quite up to par. The drinks, however, were very satisfactory like before. I was disappointed that my lobster and crab burgers had pieces of shells in them but the truffle fries were excellent and so were the tenderloin sandwiches. I very much appreciated how they treated the birthday girl and the soon to be retiree so well too. They even brought them their own custom deserts to celebrate the occasion. Even though the shells in my food were disappointing for me, the others seemed to have a nice time.

Five star service at five star prices! You certainly get what you pay for! We can only afford to come here on special occasions - birthdays and anniversaries, or if we have a gift card. But it's nice to know that our hard earned money will be well spent and not wasted when we come here. The steaks are always cooked to perfection. You'd be surprised to how apparently hard this is to do at many other local steakhouses. The lobster mac n cheese is an amazing side. The lobster bisque is a wonderful appetizer. The presentation of the dishes is always beautiful. The service is always friendly and attentive. I'd rather spend a bit more here and know that I will get top notch food and service, than go somewhere else and have it be a hit or miss. Capital Grille is always a home run!

Big thank you to everyone for making my husband's birthday dinner spectacular! We started off with kusshi oysters, fresh and delicious; the bohemian and Arnold Palmer were a good choice for drinks. For our entrees Mr. Humberto Juarez's wine pairing suggestions were excellent! Husband had porcini dusted steak and I went with Chilean sea bass...crispy seared, yet very moist and flaky. Finished off with celebration platter and complimentary champagne. Staff is amazing; Friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

*Lobster Mac & Cheese. 5 stars alone. *Hazelnut Cake. 5 stars. It's like a moist hazelnut explosion in your mouth. *Ribeye w/ balsamic... Well- I wish I would've just gotten the steak. The balsamic was a bit overpowering although delicious. They only drizzle it on the plate so you can manage to eat the steak with or without it as you please. *** Warning: portions are HUGE, even the sides, so please share... They don't mind putting steaks on two plates.*** Summary: Great food, great service, upscale but not stuffy atmosphere. I'll be back.

We were celebrating a birthday. What a treat. Starting with a well made Old Fashioned from the bar we had a great experience. The Porterhouse was dry-aged and very flavorful. For sides we enjoyed the roasted beets. For an appetizer the chef had a Fois Gras special. Ridiculously incredible would be a great descriptor. WOW.

New Years Day Celebration! First- the service was awkward at best, seems like they want to be professional but cannot afford the staff that say... "the Met" has to take care of customers. But he was nice and kind and so it was not totally awkward experience. Second- the menu seemed like it had a lot of choices, which I liked. The prices are higher than average restaurants, but overall average for a steakhouse in Seattle. Great selection. Third- Food was good. We had some sort of fresh calamari with peppers as an appetizer. I had two martini's which were great and our kind waiter let me know i could have olives stuffed with blue cheese, "yes please!" my main course was tenderloin and lobster which our water said "the tenderloin here is Filet Mignon." I don't think it really was, at least the texture and thickness was a little off if it was. We also had dessert coconut cream pie with a chewy crust, amazing actually. Overall - decent good food, I appreciated that the drinks were strong and service was nicely paced. I would give it 3.5 stars but since it was overall good I'll round up to 4.

I've passed by this place a few times, and everytime I passed by, the vallet is always uncontrollable. Well, this will be my first time here, for mother's day, and what did I say? Uncontrollable vallet? I had to go around 6 times, as there were cars jammed packed back to back, I can't even squeeze in, until I had to cut in front of someone to get serviced. This place is almost like Met Grill on 3rd Ave (I think, except, The Met have a better steak I've had), the food isn't all that great. I ordered the fillet mignon medium rare, and I got me a medium well and dry! Service was good, they were super busy on this day, of course it's expected, as everything else took a bit longer for the food to arrive. At the end of my meal, I told the manager about the vallet service, evidently he went and told the vallet manager (I'd assume), which I didn't get his name, cause no name tag! As I got my car, the vallet attendant got super feisty with me, cause I told the manager of what happened. The vallet guy just told me, I needed to just stop (mind you, they're located on a busy corner of 4th & university, where the traffic doesn't stop at no time) behind every cars and make a traffic to tell them that I needed to vallet. Now mind you, I did said my 1st time, right? Well, I didn't have time to argue with him, I already pulled out his tip money, which I almost didn't want to give, especially after that rude gesture. So, I just ignored him, gave him his tip, which I didn't think he deserved, and drove off. If it wasn't because of the crappy vallet service and the dry steak, they would've made the 5 stars from me! I seriously think, I paid too much out the door, with a total bill of $65 including tip for one person, for everything else. If I was to go to the next steak house 1 block down, I'd think I'm better off there, with the food and services. Just a mediocre establishment, which I'd suggest to go to Met Grill, for same price, better steak and service, with no tie and shiny shoes required, and still better off, even with their vallet service. #justsaying #foodporn #foodfailed #valletfailed #foodporn #foodie #food #service #qualityassurance

I decided to try out a new steakhouse in Seattle on Saturday. I was not disappointed. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the lobster tail was perfect. I would definitely go back again. The water Joel was great. He knew his foods well and also have recommendations which I loved. I had a chef special with porcini and balsamic rub. That was amazing. My partner had seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster tails. I will be heading back soon.

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon celebration dinner and they treated us like royalty! When we arrived, they had hearts sprinkled on the table cloth, then gave us complimentary champagne to celebrate, which was delightful :) My husband and I both got steaks - his the aged New York strip, mine the filet mignon, and they were both done to perfection and tasted delicious! Then to top everything - the chef gave us a complimentary dessert tray that said Happy Anniversary! (Even tho we were on our honeymoon - close enough) :D A wonderful experience - and our waiter Aram Carter was amazing, accommodating, and extremely pleasant. I highly recommend this place for a night out!

Stopped in for a drink with a colleague, which was fine. My wife was out for a stroll with the little guy and said she would pop in when they were done and we'd head off to dinner. They wouldn't let her in the door because 'babies aren't allowed in the bar.' She eventually convinced someone she just needed to come tap on my shoulder, so they escorted her to my side and asked her to leave no more than 5 seconds after she found me. Hadn't even got out the words 'okay just need to pay the tab' before being scolded again. The patrons were pleasant and friendly but some others on the staff were also rude about us having bags and not being 45+ and in a suit. Not the first time I've been confused with a college kid, but I wonder how silly these folks would feel when they did the same to someone like a Zuckerberg. It's probably time to realize you should be polite and respectful no matter how old someone is or if they are wearing sneakers or oxfords. The food sounded delicious but we'll never patronize a place that doesn't respect folks from different walks of life.

I'm always floored by the service at Capital Grille! Combine a classy ambiance with impeccable service and tasty dishes, I'd come here all the time if my wallet could afford it, haha :) A few of my friends and I had stopped by for Seattle Restaurant Week's $15 lunch special, where I went with the: -Porcini mushroom soup - SO good! Very flavorful, I would come back JUST for this soup. yummm :) -Spinach salad with beef tenderloin medallions - A pretty standard spinach salad, the only minor mishap was mixing up whose steak was whose (we had different requests for the meat's temperature). FYI, the dish is more salad than steak, if you are expecting a meatier dish. I also greatly appreciated our server's attention to our schedule - even before we ordered, he asked us if we had any time restrictions for our meal. :)

A friend of mine is a Restaurant Week fiend, and having been to the Capital Grille before, she knew that it would be a great place to go this time around. As a college student from a solidly middle class background, I've never been to a restaurant like this, where they pull your seat out for you and come with a crumb sweeper. So in that sense, it was a really cool experience, and it's always nice to feel pampered. From the restaurant week menu, I chose the porcini soup with chive oil, the 8 oz. filet mignon, and the creme brulee for dessert. At the recommendation of our server (and my lack of self control), we also got the lobster mac and cheese for a side to share. Everything was delicious, the steak was tender, and the lobster mac was every bit the guilty pleasure I was hoping for, with big chunks of lobster meat in it. And while we both felt way too young and not legit to be there, none of the staff were snobby at all and they all were warm, welcoming, and made us feel at home. The service here is just out of this world, once you get past the weirdness of having someone help you put on your jacket or escort you to the restroom. It's also just a great looking restaurant, in that "deer heads on the walls" kind of way. Now would I come here again not during restaurant week? Probably not until I'm making money instead of bleeding money on tuition. Restaurant week dinners are $30 a person, but with the lobster mac and gratuity, I ended up spending a bit more than $50. Which is a lot for a student. However, I'd thoroughly recommend this place to someone who is looking to drop some cash on a really nice dinner.

All these 5 star reviews, I'm not sure if we were all in the same place. If you're into dimly lit, stuffy, old fashioned eateries, my guess is that this place would be right up your alley. As a person who enjoys ambiance as much as great food, I was underwhelmed at the Capital Grille, as they've clearly stuck to the old formula. Combine that with my most recent trip to a place like the Red Cow and I'm not even sure this place deserves 3 stars! I digress. From the moment you walk in, this place screams steak house. Servers in lab coats, dark wood, weird paintings of what I assume are famously rich people, etc. The only reason I'm giving this spot even 3 stars is because of the food and specifically, the meat. My wife and I split the sea bass and filet and I have to say, the filet was pretty darn good (sea bass was quite bland). Nice cut, well cooked and very simple - the way steak is supposed to be, presentation and all. Would I go back? Not unless someone else was paying, it's just not worth the money. There are literally 20 other spots I would visit before coming back to this old school establishment.

The food, service, and atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing. Our waitress was excellent as she routinely checked in on us and our food/drinks. She was always paying attention to detail to ensure we enjoyed our time. The food (filet mignon) was excellent as was the mashed potatoes, bread, and lobster pasta. The lobster was an excellent compliment to the steak. Would definitely eat her again. I was told there was a great one in new york.

FREE VALET! thats not even the best part. The steaks are amazing. the food is amazing. the service is amazing. I've been the all the other steakhouses in seattle and I like this one the best. Great ambiance as well. Went there for my birthday and they had a card for me at the table, and free desert after dinner. If you dont like paying for valet parking or dont like driving around for a while to find parking, then the Capital Grille is for you since they valet park for free (just tip the guy when you get your car back)

I came here for happy hour and I was so impressed. Great friendly service, not snooty. The stoli doli is like drinking straight pineapple juice. It was so tasty. I also had the lobster salad sliders (delicious), the lobster crab cake sliders (just ok), the truffle Parmesan fries (small portion for $8, but really good), and the tenderloin sliders (amazing out of this world. So tender and flavorful. Great cut of meat). All in all, I highly recommend this place and I can't wait to go back for a proper dinner.

I am very, very happy that we ate dinner at Capital Grille during Seattle Restaurant Week because I would have been beyond furious to have paid full price for the mediocre (at best) steak that I had. When I eat what's normally a $45 steak, I expect to have a near transcendent experience. I don't expect 7/10 bites to be primarily gristle. I have honestly had better steaks at Outback Steakhouse (though not in years and years). I'm always hesitant to get steaks at restaurants since they rarely ever match what I can cook at home with very little effort, but I figured SURELY a supposed top notch steak place would have no trouble. Their 14 oz bone-in sirloin certainly looked the part, but it lacked taste, character and as mentioned earlier, seemed to be composed primarily of gristle. I had to use my steak knife like a saw to cut off pieces I might be able to chew. In addition to the food, the service was okay - definitely a notch above chain restaurants, though nothing like what I've experienced at other restaurants with less expensive faire. The atmosphere, at least was just about exactly what one would expect, except for the obvious trash (some sort of plastic wrapping) on the floor behind our table, which kind of ruined it for me. Restaurant Week should be a showcase for your restaurant to entice customers to come back to explore the rest of your menu. At this, Capital Grille failed - we won't be going back.

Wife and I went here for the first time this past weekend. We've been living in Seattle for 4 years and this was the first time we tried it! The good: Valet parking was convenient, seated right at reservation time, good vibe/energy, food was great overall The bad: Waited too long for food (~50 minutes), Drinks took longer than expected, good, but overpriced steak Appetizer: Crab Cakes (awesome!), we split this and it was great for both of us Soup: French Onion - this might of been the highlight! The cheese layer sets it apart (great work!) Entree: Filet Mignon - 10 oz. (very good, but overpriced for a NY Strip). Will try the Filet next time! We typically head out to try new places 1-2x a week and hit up regular places ~once a week. We will definitely be back as they have a very eclectic menu to try! Despite being a steakhouse the menu offers great variety. 7.5/10: Will be back!

Would not recommend this average steak house, especially given the far superior alternatives in Seattle. We waited over twenty minutes on a Wednesday beyond our reservation for a table, but were given calamari on the house. It was certainly a professional gesture, and was aligned with the solid and professional service at the restaurant, but the overly spicy, fried calamari really wasn't that good. We had the filet mignon and a 14 ounce dried sirloin. The dried sirloin was poor. It was overly spiced and lacked flavor. The filet mignon was good, but I expected better from this price point. The desserts were just average as well. I would only recommend this place if you need a formal steak dinner and are unable to find a reservation at any of the other steak houses in Seattle. If you do come here, take advantage of the free valet.

This review has been long overdue! I went to celebrate my younger cousin's 18th birthday on 2/15/15 and although the occasion was planned the restaurant choice was last minute. However, even without reservations, the Capital Grille was kind enough to seat us promptly. They even prepared the table with colorful confetti and a handwritten birthday card to my cousin! Our server was amazing! Although we weren't dressed up to par with the classiness of the restaurant, we were never treated any differently. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection, flavorful, and yet not overpowering. 5/5 Complimentary mashed potatoes! 4/5 Complimentary dessert for the birthday girl and enough for all 6 of us to share in all the sweet delight. 4/5 But honestly anything complimentary/free is a 5/5 in my book. To sum up, I would highly recommend this Seattle steakhouse!

The Capital Grille is the restaurant by which we measure any other steakhouse. We've found other steakhouses where the food is fine, and other steakhouses where the service is fine, but we've never found anyplace that has the wonderful food as well as the superlative service that we get at the Capital Grille. We will fly from the Bay Area to Seattle if we want to have a celebratory weekend. Of course, our plans always include the Capital Grille. We were devout Ricky fans, but since he's now off in Chicago we're searching for a Ricky substitute. Nobody's quite like Ricky, but for our last dinner we had Aram, who took very good care of us. I wish they had a Capital Grille in the Bay Area.

WOW. OK so Im impressed. Those who know me, also know Im normally not particularly impressed with the Capital Grille. mostly because they often struggle to get a unified quality experience across the visit. However. I just came back from the Capital Grille on 4th street in Seattle. and I can only say "WOW" from start to finish, they delivered a consistant and outstanding experience. the hostes were polite, professional and proficient. she did not bat a eye when I was difficult and not satisfied with the first table offered. (that is generally how a professional hostes should be.. but rarely seen in reality) The waitress, Carmen, was efficient, friendly and warm without being overly chatty. More importantly, she was knowledgeable about the menu and made connections of items and beverages. this is FAR about the chain restaurant performance level. Honestly, she was everything I generally hope for in a waiter. Wait.. one critical element left.. the food. ahhh. yes. I had the Filet Minion Oscar. it was done exactly as I ordered, and frankly perfect. And on the professional side, Carmen came back to check that I was happy with the meat, about 30 seconds after it was delivered by somebody from the kitchen. another 3-4 minutes later she was back to ask if I wanted a little more of the hollandaise sauce. WOW. Well, let me not bore you with more details. its enough to say, that amazingly the Capital Grille in Seattle, bats way above its price range. Im a frequent flyer at Four Seasons hotel restaurants, internationally and in the USA, and can comfortably say, the experience today at the Capitol Grille, was as competent as a top four season restaurant on its best day and probably cost only 2/3 of a similar meal there. Is the food French Laundry grade.. nah. probably not, but then I did also not have to wait 2 months for my reservation and put up with snotty waiters. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.! if you are in Seattle you probably can't go wrong with the Capitol Grille.

My wife and I spent New Years Eve in Seattle, dinner, the symphony, and a nice hotel. The Capital Grille did not disappoint. Although a tad expensive, everything was spot on. While the food was great, the service was excellent.

I made a reservation here for Valentine's Day 2014 with my girlfriend, and we could not have been more impressed. The service and food were impeccable. We even gotta a complimentary photo for our night, and they were nice enough to email us a digital copy. Had a great time will definitely be back again.

Went there for restaurant week and we were fascinated with the experience. The food was delicious, and the service was amazing. Our waiter was Joel. He was very attentive, gave us great recommendations, and made us feel like we deserved the best experience possible to the point where we felt like we were distinguished guests. To be honest, I hadn't seen this quality of service in a long time. I ordered clam chowder, filet mignon, and creme brulee for dessert. All courses were absolutely fantastic. If you go to this place, order these 3 options. I guarantee you will be very very happy. I highly recommend this place and I hope to go back very soon.

Fabulous service and food! Four of us went for a co-worker's birthday lunch and I can't believe the special service we received. Our friend was given a birthday card, we all received a complimentary champagne toast, and two very yummy desserts! They also took our picture and gave it to us before we left! Our meals were great, the cobb salad with tenderloin, lobster and crab cake sandwich, rib eye steak sandwith truffle fries all were excellent. We all waddled back to the office after lunch. This is definitely the place to go for a special occasion or just a great lunch.

Nice atmosphere. The parmesan truffle fries were great! The filet was just okay. It was cooked well but I had higher expectations based on the way the waiter talked up their steaks. The mashed potatoes were runny and not my favorite but it seemed to be on purpose. The waiter did bring out a free dessert for the table which was nice and the servers were personable and well versed on the menu. Maybe a dinner experience would be better than lunch food wise? Their wine selection looked great. I may come back to try another dish and sample the wines.Overall good place, but not my favorite.

My wife and I had a rare "Kid free weekend", so we decided to hit the town. The Capital Grille was our destination for dinner and WOW! It was amazing. The service was very attentive and friendly, the food was out of this world, the drinks were strong (In fact, I would call them "Vegas Strong"). The restaurant is very classy, though the decor is a little odd with some interesting paintings and deer antlers on the wall. Not sure what that is about....but oh well.....Still a great steak and dining experience

I wanted to note that a couple of days after our visit we received a phone call from the restaurant to follow up on our visit. I was very impressed that they took the time to call guests to ensure that they had a great experience. This is a customer service model that I'm trying to figure out how to wrap into my own work. Color me impressed!

My boyfriend had an expiring $50 gift card from Amex to Capital Grille so we came here for a random Saturday night dinner. We had a really good time here. We got our standard French onion soup to start which we really enjoyed. The soup was piping hot, savory, and rich with gobs of gooey stringy cheese. Afterwards, I had the special Delmonico steak with a balsamic mushroom glaze and my boyfriend had his usual Porterhouse. The steaks were cooked perfectly. My Delmonico was very tasty at first, but the tart balsamic got to be too much after awhile - I guess I prefer more plain seasonings. My boyfriend enjoyed his Porterhouse as well, but he commented that the quality of the meat didn't compare to what we got at Morton's or Met Grill. Capital Grille is a little cheaper than both places so I guess you get what you pay for! Service was great! We would come here again.

I could go on and on about the great food and service that most of the other reviewers have probably mentioned, but the bottom line is this: They have great food, great service, and great drinks. From beef to seafood, you can't go wrong. Now, that being said, here are some of my favorites: -Wagyu beef carpaccio -Lobster bisque (it is rich) -Fresh creamed spinach And lest I forget: Delmonico steak (bone-in ribeye, medium rare on the rare side for me) That about says it all...

We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday last year, and Capital Grille went out of their way to make our dinner special - the service here is absolutely fantastic. First, complimentary valet parking in Seattle when you're trying to have a relaxing date is an awesome perk. No driving around looking for a spot where no one will steal the navi system out of your car, no walking in heels in the rain. We were seated in an intimate booth in the back. The vibe here is old school & classic, with waiters in white and soft music playing. Our table was decorated with confetti, as well as a card with his name on it wishing him a Happy Birthday. Our waiter started us off with complimentary glasses of champagne, brought us a side on the house (we weren't sure which side dish to get with our steaks and the waiter surprised us by bringing us both dishes), AND he even brought a little dessert for us at the end with a candle and "Happy Birthday" written across the dish. Sure, the steaks at John Howie and Metropolitan Grill are better than the steak at Capital Grille, but it was still well prepared, high quality, and delicious. The personal service in the end is what made Capital Grille stand out, we felt like we were transported to another time when the waiters encouraged you to stick around and actually paid attention to your needs. I'm sure we'll be coming here for celebrations for years to come.

Let me just start off by saying, if the world really ends tomorrow (wrote this on Dec 20, 2012)... I will die a happy woman. Just enjoyed an amazing dinner date with my hubby! We had the dry aged porterhouse steaks (got mine topped with a Kona coffee rub). The chocolate hazelnut cake was the cherry on top! Not only did we indulge in a scrumptious meal, but were spoiled by the utmost attentive & considerate service. We were immediately greeted by the manager who apologized for making us wait [not even 10 mins past our reservation] by picking up our first round of drinks + delicious appetizers!! What a great first impression & experience at Capital Grille, we will definitely be back someday!

Celebrated my fiance's birthday at Capital Grille yesterday. Food was delicious! Hot Pepper Calamari: Highly recommended. Had the correct amount of heat: nice and spicy without melting my face off. Lots of sweet peppers and peppercinis. I had the lobster and crab stuffed prawns. Very rich but worth the additional calories. The sauce complemented and did not over power the dish. I had the same dish at Aqua last Friday and the sauce was way overpowering. My fiance had the bone in Kona crusted sirloin. This is a very large steak. It was ordered at medium well but came out medium rare which is my favorite. I think if the steak would have been cooked to medium well it would have had to cook a very long time due to the thickness of the steak and that would have been a bad move. I recommend cutting the meat in very thin slices which allows you to enjoy the sauce and the texture of the steak more than if you cut the steak in small rectangular pieces like you would for a normal sized steak. Sides: Lobster mac and cheese: cooked and roasted, served in a iron skillet. Had a nice crispness to the top of the dish due to the roasting. Highly recommended. Mashed potatoes: As expected, creamy and delicious Creamed Spanish: As expected as well, creamy and delicious Desert: Coconut sorbet: coconut can be hard to turn into a sorbet due to the powdery texture it can leave in the mouth after a spoonful. Their will always be a little powdery texture even in the best Coconut sorbets. I really liked this one. Minimal powdery aftertaste. Creme brulee: Served with berries and as expected, a slight crunch to the top caramelized layer followed by a creamy filling. Our waiter was Michael Abrahamson. He gave me his card before we left. I recommend him highly. All of the staff was great. Valet was quick and the car was waiting outside when we left.

So far this is the only restaurant I have been able to finish a whole steak. I generally do not order steak but after hearing the positive reviews on just the steak alone I really wanted to try it for myself. Both times I have been there I ordered the Bone in Kona NY strip w/Shallot Butter. Both times the steak turned out excellent - very tender and tasty!! I love the shallot butter on top the steak. I even surprised myself for finishing a whole steak. This place is ten times better than Metropolitan Grill which is way over-hyped. The service is exceptional as well! It is a little pricey but it is well worth it.

Upon entering the restaurant, I quickly noticed I forgot to put on my finest fur and my mothers pearls. Some friends, the b/f and I were in town to see Louis CK. We waited til the last minute to find and get a reservation for all of us (6 total) and I was able to land a table here. For the most part, all of us were dressed in our Portland acceptable slightly classy attire. I quickly learned, that is not nearly classy enough for this spot. We got a few "what are they doing here?" looks from other guests. I kid you not, we saw at least four or five ladies with their fur AND pearls on. Whatever, we were here to eat! We started with the tomato, basil & mozzarella salad, and prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. Both were pretty spot on. For the main dish, I had the often mentioned Kona Crusted Dry Aged Sirloin. It's bone in, and around 14oz. It was pretty solid. Nothing to die over, but solid. The b/f had the Delmonico, and he said it was fine. For sides, we all split the mushrooms, truffle fries, and lobster mac. I will say this right now, the lobster mac was the best part of the meal. That, and the truffle fries. Yeah, it trumped my steak. The b/f wasn't impressed with the mac, but I loved it. I should also note that our server was very nice, very attentive, and did a super job. Good job, waiter guy. Sorry I didn't catch your name. So, this place is on the verge of 4 stars, but the ambiance and the rude looks we got makes it only worthy of 3. It's Snooty City.

As steakhouse goes, this is better than most in Seattle, and I have sampled many of them. Foods are good, services excellent, price reasonable (for a high-end steakhouse). My only issue is that the seats are slight cramp (we had a booth). I am definitely coming back for many happy returns. Calamari is mixed with Jalapeno pepper. Strange yet good. Blue Cheese wedge was crispy and creamy, added bacon bits were great. We had a half-bottle pinot that was $47. Oh, well. Plank Salmon was perfect. Porterhouse was 24 oz: perfect size for two and still have room for desserts. Tender and tasty with perfect medium rare. We shared a hazelnut chocolate cake, very pronouced hazelnutty, big portionally happy.

Had our almost monthly girls' dinner + plus celebrated one of my best friend's birthday. Loved the atmosphere and service upon arrival - we were brought to our table right away! :) Our server, I believe his name was Kim, was so awesome and to put up with a table of 5 women - amazing! Because it was one of our gf's birthday, he brought out a complimentary bottle of champagne for us! YUM! Helped us out in choosing our wine, was very patient and attentive! He even brought out another glass after one of us had knocked down a glass of champagne with their huge menu! We did dine on the Restaurant Week menu - but it was AMAZING! 3 of us had the 14 oz sirloin - delish (although mine was a little more medium than medium rare), one had the filet and another the salmon. None of us had any complaints - plus an order of the lobster mac and cheese to share - heaven! The desserts - we either had the chocolate flourless cake or the creme brulee - both amazeballs!! AND to top it off, our nice server even brought us some special pineapple infused vodka "shots" - so nice! I think he was enjoying our company :) So nice of him! The experience was amazing, the food was delicious, the servers, help, hostess, everyone was incredible - made our night memorable! This is why you go to these places! Will definitely go back! Thank you Capital Grille for making out night awesome!

This is an update from a previous, uncomplimentary review. My last visit was so unlike my previous experiences at other Capital Grill locations, that the manager contacted me and apologized. We were asked to try again, so we did. Based purely service, I would give the experience a five star, which I do not give out lightly. All of the staff members were professional and friendly. I ordered a salad (bibb & strawberry), which was fresh and a decent size. My husband ordered the french onion soup. He said the cheese on it was excellent. The "generous pour" wine promotion consisted of very respectable selections. The sea bass was much better than my last experience. It was cooked perfectly (last time it was overcooked). My husband had the Gorgonzola NY strip steak. It was a good piece of meat, cooked as requested. The seasoning was adequate but lacked something. I found this true of the saffron broth on my sea bass as well. The sides- macaroni & cheese, mushrooms- were very good. As stated before, the service was excellent and the Cap Grill is a safe bet for a special night out. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. What keeps it from a 5 star is a combination of 2 things- a certain "je ne sais quoi" that makes the difference from great to excellent and the price. The meal would be 5 stars at a slightly lower cost (not huge, maybe 10%) OR if that certain something could be found that makes your taste buds so happy, you are oblivious to the amount of the check.

OMG! We came here for dinner spontaneously late last night with our 4 kids and not even dressed appropriately. The wait staff was on top of their game with quick service and they were so accommodating with kids...I actually enjoyed my fabulous filet mignon and so did my 8 year old.

Came back for a restaurant week dinner - a little apprehensive, knowing how much stress these events are for the establishments and how quality can go down the drain, but...not this place, no, it didn't. Outstanding, again. Last time I was so smitten with the service and the ambiance that I forgot about the food (it was excellent). So, this time it was great, too. The squash soup, the filet mignon, the creme brûlée - all great. And I finally discovered that they do have amazing bread in Seattle - but you have to come to the Capital Grille for that. (We are so spoiled by the quality of breads in New York and the whole tristate area, that Seattle breads came as a bit of shock to me - blah and hard to chew.) But the Capital Grille has amazing bread - I devoured almost everything they gave me. Big thanks to Jesse - my sweet and attentive server, who talked me into trying it. (FYI they make their own bread and it is good.) Highly recommend.

5 stars for the lamb chops!!! After such good memories of their lamb chops from a few years ago, I knew immediately what to order on my most recent visit. It comes with the most delicious cherry dipping sauce. We ended up ordering extra sauce, and my two dinner companions ended up dipping their steak in the cherry sauce as well. If you like lamb chops and cherries, you must try their lamb chops! They are very special.

Overrated, gaudy, touristy, huge carbon footprint (lol flying lobster in), chicken was garbage (I know it's a steakhouse, but if you're going to have it on the menu - do it right). Basically a place for Kirkland/Kent baby boomers and tourists.

We had reservations for Thanksgiving dinner, and things started off badly--but our waiter Chris N. turned it around for us. We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation and the place was packed, so the hostess invited us to wait in the bar, which is where our problems started. The bar was full so I flagged a bartender down from behind some seated diners. He motioned for me to talk to the workers at the end of the bar--all of whom smiled politely but turned away every time I tried to order. So when the hostess came to take us to our table 20 minutes later, we hadn't even ordered drinks. I wasn't thrilled. Isn't this the Capital Grille? We'd never eaten here before but chose the restaurant because they are supposed to have amazing service. I think our waiter could tell how annoyed I was at the lacking service on a special holiday, and over the next two hours he made up for it every way he could. Extra-friendly interactions, but not too many; he got out of the way and let us talk when we needed it. He helped us with options without annoying upsells. He brought us an unexpected (and comped) mashed potato side because "Thanksgiving plates should be fulll!" and when we asked him to box up our mac & cheese, potatoes, and bread for a leftover carb fest, he included some cookies and a gift certificate for next time. If you'd asked me, after the bar, whether I would be back to Capital Grille I would have said no. But Chris N really did right by us, on Thanksgiving, and that speaks volumes.

The Capital Grille's customer service comes second to none! Each time I come in I am treated exceptionally and I know that I will continue to be treated this way on every future visit. Sorry, I just can't get over how well they treat their customers. You're never left waiting, your glass is never empty, and the person taking care of you is so attentive to your needs. Now onto the food and drinks. The drinks are good, always mixed well. The steaks are ALWAYS seasoned and cooked perfectly. If you ask for a medium, you get a medium; rich brown on the top and sides, lightly charred on the bottom and a warm, pink center. Absolutely mouthwatering. Oh and the sides are to die for as well! The mashed potatoes are so smooth and creamy. They are so light and delicate and buttery mmm. The asparagus is lightly grilled with a hint of lemon. Fully cooked but still with a little crispness on the outside. Ugh, this review is making me hungry! I need to make a reservation SOON

Okay, yes, this place is a chain...But their steak Oscar is to die for. They have perfected it. The staff is great! They truly have the old school type of class that just isn't found anymore... We've been countless times and anytime my husband and I want to do a pretty nice dinner this is ALWAYS my first choice. Steak Oscar and their lobster mac and cheese and their side mushrooms. I'm a total creature of habit but hey, if you find the perfect dishes...you stick with it. My husband tries many different dishes there and is never disappointed. And if service is important to you this place is next to none. A must go.

Great food and ambience! This restaurant is on par with the likes of the Met, Mortons, and Daniels. It has everything from valet service to fancy bread baskets that make you feel like you're dining at a first class steakhouse. I can attest that this place is great to set the mood for anniversaries and celebrations. I took my S.O. here for our anniversary and do not regret it! As we were running behind schedule, I parked my car via valet service as it was a chore to maneuver through downtown traffic (TIP: Valet is complimentary). As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly hosts and shown to our table. I must comment that throughout the night the service was exceptional. Our waiter was attentive and personal. He even left his business card with the check! As for food, we ordered the Kona sirloin and seared sirloin with buttered lobster tails. As sides, we ordered wild mushrooms and truffle fries. Remember that steak dishes and most entrees come a la carte! The Kona steak had a deep, savory taste provided by a dry rub that was made of espresso and brown sugar--giving it a glaze. They topped the steak with a creamy sauce that complimented the steak as it cut some of the saltiness. The seared sirloin and lobster tails were absolutely wonderful. The steak had minimal seasoning, which allowed for the flavor of the meat to be brought out; the 3 mini lobster tails tasted sweet and were complimented with a drizzled butter sauce. In addition to our entrees, the wild mushrooms were some of the best that I've ever had. As the night was coming to an end, our waiter came by to fill our wine glasses one last time, and poured wine right on the table! He was very, very apologetic and even offered us a free dessert. What a nice guy. For dessert, we chose the coconut cream pie...and what a dessert it was. Although I have a bias towards coconut desserts, it's safe to say that this is a must try. The trifecta of the toasted coconut, whipped cream, and graham cracker crust is enough to keep me coming back here for every special occasion. This place is among the better steakhouses in the area. I would like to rate this steakhouse as a 5; HOWEVER, one thing that needs work is bringing out a HOT steak. I think that this could be done by preheating their plates in an oven. Other than that small gripe, I love coming here.

It was not just a dinner tonight, but a memorable experience. From start to finish, Capital Grille provided amazing service, fabulous food and drinks. My cosmo, in the bar, was the best Cosmo I've ever had. Since I'm a Sex in the City fan, I know what I'm talking about. My hubby's bohemian was great too! My hubby's French onion soup was 10/10! I'm not normally a fan, but I would have taken it away from him if I could have. We had the potato au gratin and Brussel sprouts for sides and were delicious. A lot of food. Especially since my hubby got the Delmonico steak and lobster tail. The steak was like butter. Wow! I had the filet mignon and it was super tender too. We had the flourless chocolate cake with complimentary champagne and it was the perfect end to an unforgettable meal. Thanks for making my Hubby's birthday so amazing! We will be back.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary and Mario served us. We had a great time. Seated right away and all staff were very pleasant. I really like the atmosphere. Not stuffy but nice. A bit old school too. They knew it was our anniversary and made it very special for us. We really appreciate it and are already thinking of coming back next year. Thanks!

Why haven't I been here before? I have no idea. A friend and I popped in during Restaurant Week and it was a great experience. I made reservations through Open Table (my preferred method) and they have a phone app. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately and the service we received was excellent. We had multiple staff members checking on us throughout lunch. My appetizer was a seasonal soup - porcini mushroom bisque. It was creamy, light, and earthy. A really nice way to start off the meal. My entree was the seared citrus glazed king salmon. Now, the sauce, by itself, was not that great. However, paired with the salmon and the sides, it was perfect. During lunch, I expect a 4 ounce piece of salmon. The server said the salmon was between 7 and 9 ounces but I have to say, I thought mine was 10 ounces. At that point, I began to doubt whether I would be able to finish it but it was so good, I just kept eating. For dessert, I had the creme brulee. I don't order it very much anymore because I'm often disappointed. I'm glad I did because it was the right texture, flavor, and all around a great dessert. I must say that I've had my share of bombs during Restaurant Week. I felt that unlike other restaurants, The Capital Grille did not compromise the integrity of what they do. They definitely put forward their best and in my case, made an impact. I know I'll return because they had everything I wanted in a meal and more.

The food and service of this establishment are spectacular in so many ways. The environment is classy yet casual, dimly lit. Not a fan of most restaurants before meal appetizers, such as the bread and crackers and Same goes for this one. They could have a better variety of breads rather than dry crackers. But the main meals we got were unbelievable and made up for that x3. The porterhouse and lobster tail was perfect along with the lobster mac n cheese. The steak literally melted in your mouth (medium rare). The baked potatoes with bacon were good but I would ask for extra topping next time. Not only was the meal perfect, but The manager actually came and greeted us and other customers, chatting with them a bit. That was super personable and cool along with the chef who signs a tag on everyone's to go bag. Just goes to show you the effort they put in while providing killer food.

I had the Kona Steak with the coffee rub - it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Lobster mac and cheese is very good as well.

Typical steak house: classy and elegant, excellent service, food is as expected (nothing to blow you away). Steak is cooked as requested. Their happy hour is OK too. It could be better. There are better spots to hit in town. Drinks are stiff. Like that they valet, but all the steakhouses in the downtown area have this service.

Amazing dining experience! Steak, seared tuna, crab cakes and drinks were awesome! We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. And were pleased with nice table, birthday card and complementary birthday desert! Great service. Thank you guys for making that evening special! :)

I normally try to stay away from steak houses on my dining out just because.....but this was fun! SRW- always a trap for me because at the end of the meal: my meal always tend to be the cheapest on the bill. Most if not all of the SRW restaurants has killer 3 course menu with equally expensive if not more bar/drink menu. And let's face it. We all want a champagne or a glass of wine with our meal. Suckered in! Well back to the food. Free valet- always very cool. Ambiance is nice. 3 of us got seated in the back room all cute and cozy. Austin our waiter was nice. Ordered myself a drink call bohemian ($15 per glass) : champagne and berries and some magic potion. Worth every penny! Beer was $7 for my friend and a glass of wine started around $18. Like I said: crazyy!! On to our food- first course: clam chowder: great. Seasonal porcini mushroom bisque ( Meh) and a salad. Main course: Two Fillet Mignon and a Kona crusted sirloin for me!! Delish. Although, I swear my steak was a little overlooked for a Medium. Filet mignon was so tender and moist. The key and the main star however was my side dish; Lobster Mac & Cheese ($18). It was like fatty gluttonous heavily moan worthy lobster in Mac and cheese flower bed. My friend and I talked about how we might just be pregnant after Making love to that dish!! Yea... What steak??? No steak here. Doggy bag it: take it away. All I care at this point was my side dish!! And one last squeal and several moans later- we waved a while flag to our dishes. Wait- we are having dessert too? Doh! Aright. Let's taste this flour-less chocolate torte and tiramisu. They were good but not mind blowing. But still goopd! Now cons: our awesome waiter forgot our other side dish. He was also MIA for most of our meal ( A very busy Wednesday night) and just wasn't that tentative. You always come to downtown steak houses for their excellence service and we didn't get it here tonight. Well..thanks SRW for ruining it? Oh well.. After my delicious Bohemian drink and screaming lobsters: I wasn't going to complain. It was lovely. Maybe it would've been a 5 star with a different waiter. I mean our little room has 4 tables and the other 3 tables were couples of dates. Perhaps: he wasn't keen on our 2 girls 1 guy thing? Whatever---I had my money's worth. And I'm full up to my brain ( if that's even possible) I'll be back sometimes...but will request a different seating locating and a different waiter. But overall: it was fun. $$$$$ bill but sometimes you just need to have a pretty night out, don't ya?

I went here for valentines and let me start by simply saying their steak is perfection. I ordered the ribeye along with the mash potatoes which was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding, ambiance was classy, and did I mention the food was delicious? Also, to top it off, there was complementary valet parking which made is so convenient. The parking in Seattle can be a bit annoying. I really recommend checking this place out. It is spends, but for the service, food and environment, it's worth it. You get what you pay for. You won't be disappointed. Cheers.

It's all delicious, great service, and great atmosphere. Some of the best calamari and stake I've ever had. It's more expensive, but very much worth it for special occasions. Although it is a steak house, so all the meals are very meat oriented, which is something to be aware of before going as I recall it caught me off guard for some reason the very first time I went.

After walking to another seafood restaurant and finding out that they were closed for renovations we popped out Yelp to find another 4 star restaurant, Capital Grille was listed and we could see it a block up the road. This was our first meal in Seattle and it was perfect. For starters the entire staff was inviting and polite and the food was amazing. Cocktails: $12 margaritas was everything you'd want in a drink. Bread basket: 4 different options, something for everyone. Appetizer: lobster and dungeness crab cakes, which come with 2 and were delicious, perfectly seasoned, and served with a corn sasha salsa. Although I thought the salsa was not necessary it was delicious as well, especially for February. They were so good we wanted to order another set but we didn't want to stuff ourselves. Entrées: Turns out this is primarily a steak house that has a few seafood options. Since we are not red meat eaters we both ordered the scallops with mushrooms risotto. Five perfectly seared scallops balanced with creamy risotto made correctly and sautéed and dried mushrooms topped with parm and arugula. I'm not a fan of arugula, but it was easy enough to pick off. The flavors were perfectly paired. I was so stuffed that I had to take home one scallop and a pile of risotto, which I ate for breakfast. They cost around $43 but so far everywhere I have eaten in Portland/Seattle has been on the expensive side, so for the quantity and quality I thought it was worth every penny. Dessert: Although I have a sweet tooth I couldn't fit another bite in so none for us.

What a night! Last night my wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary! Captial Grille was our choice for dinner and a celebration... We had never been and we were not disappointed. From the time we walk in the door to the time we left, it was nothing but first class... Food, Service... Everything! I spoke with the manager a few days prior to our visit and requested flowers at the table and WOW, they were beautiful. My wife loved them along with the card from the staff. Our server (Anna) was phenomenal! From the complimentary champagne to the dessert everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for more. We started with a Steak Tartare and the only critique I have for the entire night was that it could have used a little seasoning. We both had Filet Mignons, mine bone-in and hers was with a butter poached lobster. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The sides were great as well, Lobster Mac and Cheese and Mashed potatoes. Decadent desserts rounded out the night with Anna serving us a complimentary dessert along with our Creme Brulee. So good! I would not hesitate to recommend Capital Grille to anyone celebrating or just looking for a classy place with great service and food. THANK YOU CAPITAL GRILLE, ANNA, JOSH AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT MADE OUR SPECIAL NIGHT SO MEMORABLE!! And the picture at the table was unbelievable too! We will be back... soon!

WOW. That's all my wife and I can think every time we think of our food, experience, and service at Capital - Seattle. We went here while on vacation before going to the Needle, and our only bad decision was doing things in that order. We left so full and borderline miserable, it made the rest of the night hard to enjoy on the same level! But we couldn't waste any of the food, it was all SO good. The steaks we ordered were ABOVE top-notch, and so flavorful and well prepared/seasoned. The sides (especially the lobster mac) were superb, and they even had great drinks! Dessert was fantastic, and this restaurant had the single greatest service we have ever received at any restaurant we've been to. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will without question go again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My husband and I ate here 2 years ago when we were in town, and we still talk about it to this day! Everything about our experience was amazing. I've had a lot of steaks at other steakhouses around the country since then, and none of them ever compare to the one I had here. We had drinks, an app, steaks and dessert - and everything was delicious and some of the best food we've ever had at a restaurant. On top of that, the service was hands down some of the best service we've ever had anywhere. If we ever go back to Seattle, we will definitely make a reservation to eat here again!

Very, very disappointed in my last lunch. Went there with two colleagues for lunch and they managed not only to screw up the side dishes for two of the three orders but they seriously over-cooked our meat for two of the dishes. When the waiter finally showed up (we were nearly done) I complained that the meat had been overdone and showed him, he said "but they were still delicious enough to eat, eh?" Completely failed to recognize that this was a lunch during business hours and we had to eat promptly or be late for meetings back at the office. Turning the food back was not an option - and I most CERTAINLY would have done so had we not been under time pressure. Very disappointed with the kitchen - first time I've had issues with them - and even more disappointed with the waiter. Needless to say, with the variety available downtown, we will not be going back here again and will not be recommending it (quite the opposite actually) to any of our colleagues and friends.

This is one of my favorite SRW places because of the deal and that the food is always great. For $28, you get their Kona Crusted Sirloin that is usually $48 regularly. That steak is literally one of the best pieces of steak I've ever had, and that's from somebody who usually only eat filet. The appetizers and desserts aren't anything too impressive but who cares? I am here for their awesome steaks. They also give you awesome bread to start with and service is always impeccable and professional. I come here every time there is SRW and recommend it to any friend who is looking for a good steak restaurant. I really appreciate that they don't shrink the portions like many of the other restaurants.

We arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation, and we were directed to the bar to have a drink while we waited. Not sure if its like this every night, but the bar was packed and there was only one bartender. I felt bad for the guy - he looked rattled! The bar was really packed - standing room only. Definitely a lively atmosphere. We had lots of time to enjoy our drinks because we had to wait an an additional 20 minutes for our table. I finally went up to the hostess to ask about our table, and after a bit of checking it turned out it was ready. Our table was located down in the back right next to the kitchen. I think the next time I go I'll request a different location. Its busy back there, lots of shouting and its pretty warm. If you're looking to go I'd recommend trying to get a table up near the front of the restaurant. Our server Chris was great. He brought us complimentary calamari because we had to wait for our table, and the service the rest of the evening was impeccable. He was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. He always seemed to show up just as I was finishing my drink, or a course. The food was great. My wife and I both had steak (duh!!) and it was cooked to perfection. We had asparagus and truffle fries as sides, and those were great as well. This may seem like a silly thing to call out, but I really liked the bread basket too! Lots of different choices and the presentation was great. Overall, a good experience and great food. It was busy and the night started off rocky, but they know how to recover at the Capital Grille. The next time I go, I'm going to specifically request a table at the front, away from the kitchen.

My boyfriend and I came here for Seattle Restaurant Week. Although we had a reservation, we waited a good 10-15 minutes to be seated. Upon being seated, we were informed that we were "lucky" because our waiter was the top most requested waiter in the restaurant. I didn't even know you could request specific waiters. I now know why, he was incredibly knowledgeable about the food, passionate, friendly, seemed to genuinely enjoy his job, and was constantly keeping tabs on us (despite how busy the restaurant was) to ensure our satisfaction. My filet mignon was delicious, no complaints from either of us. Due to the cost of food on any normal day, we probably won't come back often, but it was great for SRW.

I can't give this place a 5 because I had the shishimi seared tuna and not a steak but my tuna was a 5/5. Didn't want to like this place as much as I did because it is a chain but I would come back. Really good from appitiZers to dessert. Solid pick you won't be sorry you went.

Capital Grill is a sophisticated, mid-western style steak house. We visited it because we had a coupon, and being in Seattle, we're hoping that they may have a bit more creative a menu. The oysters were excellent, as were the other plates we shared and the cocktails. However, it's still over priced and a bit under creative. Not many vegetarian options either. Don't think we'll be back.

As usual, my fellow Yelpers steered me in the right direction when they recommended my family come here for a celebratory dinner (my youngest's bday). What an amazing meal we had here! I liked the traditional décor with stately wood paneling and bronze statuette finials on the dividing half-walls between booths, but got a chuckle out of the large portraits adorning the wall (all done in traditional realism yet of contemporary subjects. Gary Locke? Jimi Hendrix? Nice way to contemporize a décor that otherwise might be a tad too....buttoned-up). Wow, our table was decked out with confetti and a lovely bday card for my kid. Nice! Our waiter was awesome (attentive, knowledgeable about the food, not hovering, though) and the other waitstaff were stealth-like (our waters and the kids' Shirley Temples kept getting refilled without our noticing. How do they do that???). And the food! The food was wonderful! Each dish was perfect, from the calamari with red chilis (a bit of a zing there), the Chilean sea bass (my favorite), one of the best spinach salads we've ever had, and the kids swooned over the lobster mac and cheese. Even the bread basket was lovely, with diverse gourmet crackers and rolls. For dessert, the crème brulee with berries was the perfect ending, but the waiter also brought out a bday cheesecake with caramelized sugar atop, lit with a candle. Our youngest was in heaven! How have we not been here before now??? Well, better late than never. And thanks to my Yelp family for referring me to this restaurant. It may now be one of our family's go-to stand-bys for special occasions!

Just had dinner with 4 friends and we all truly enjoyed the overall experience. The dining room is comfortable with tables nicely spread out. Lionel, our waiter, was delighted and "homesick" to serve fellow New Orleanians that he told us stories of his younger years and took excellent care of us. The lobster bisque was exceptional, chopped salad was nice. We had the filet, filet Oscar, halibut, lobster Mac and cheese, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The meat was well aged, tender and with character, cooked to each persons liking. The sides were all noteworthy and even the bread basket was quite diverse and special. We ended by nibbling on a shared piece of coconut pie that was really worthwhile. Overall: delightful!

Very high end, upscale restaurant. They have paintings of famous people from Seattle on the walls (Bruce Lee is there too, but he's buried there so I guess that counts). Came here for a business lunch and after being seated ordered some clam chowder and the lobster&crab burger. The clam chowder was good...not the best or anything, it was good. (I've had better in both Boston and SF, but the best is the Fish Company in Los Alamitos, CA). The burger was very good and tasty. I especially liked how they perfectly grilled the bun so it gave it a light crunch. The service was ok. For being an upscale restaurant and having what looked like more than a handful of bussers, the reaction time could have been faster. I think I had my water refilled once, and I had to ask. And I ordered an Arnold Palmer and wasn't even asked if I wanted a refill, they just took it away when it was empty. For paying high prices, I would expect them to refill that drink 3x.

We had such a fun time here for New Year's! The restaurant feels very McCormick's-ish on the inside in that it is dark with heavy wood. The decor was a bit odd with its random paintings of what appeared to be mafia men and deer heads high on the beams but otherwise, the place felt a little more upscale than some restaurants - but not as nice as The Met or John Howie in Bellevue. The pros of this place included free valet (which we did not use), a very festive table with confetti and balloons for New Year's, really great service with a server who knew EVERYTHING off of the ridiculously intimidating wine menu, and great cocktails. The stoli doli was my favorite which is pineapple infused vodka. I wasn't completely wowed by the food but to be fair, I ordered salmon in a steak restaurant. The people at our table seemed happy with their cuts of meat but some remarked that they were either under or over cooked. I really liked the side dishes - the potatoes au gratin were probably my favorite. The asparagus was good but a little salty. For dessert, we split the chocolate hazelnut cake. It was HUGE - like Claim Jumper size. It was just okay - I had a few bites but then was over it. The cinnamon ice cream seemed like a better choice. Overall, I had a really fun time here but there are a few improvements that could be made to the food. Hopefully the next time is even better!

First visit to Capital Grille, and looking forward to the next. I decided to take my steak-loving husband to Capital Grille to celebrate his birthday; our expectations were far exceeded. Not only was the food delicious, but the famous "Luis Sandoval" was an outstanding host/server extraordinairre. He was very friendly, extremely attentive and made the dining experience that much richer. The entire staff worked well as a team, but Luis is our guy, and we plan to request his section in all our future visits. Now, lets chat about the chow!!! We started with the calamari, which had a nice kick and good flavor. For dinner, Hubby had this big hunk of Kona-crusted porterhouse, cooked to perfection and topped with shallot butter....after one bite, he and that porterhouse bonded quite well. I had the fabulous Lobster and Dungeness Crab Cakes....it was awesome to find crab cakes that were NOT mostly bread crumbs. These cakes were filled with crab, lobster, great flavor and NO fillers...yummy yum. We shared brussel sprouts and the lobster mac-n-cheese. Everything absolutely on point - including the fresh, complimentary bread. We were very hungry, but no matter how much we paced ourselves, we could not finish our food, so we left the restaurant looking like we had gone grocery shopping...three bags of food. But before we and our bags of leftovers were able to prepare for departure, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary birthday celebration platter that included cheese cake and chocolate cake. Not only was this a delicious surprise, but the presentation was a bit unique in that the "happy birthday" inscription on the plate was stenciled with chocolate. Thanks Capital Grille and thank you Mr. Luis Sandoval for helping us celebrate the birthday of my wonderful hubby. Our anniversary is just a few weeks away, so do expect to see us soon!!

Maybe I am losing my taste for dead cow but I think not. First off I couldn't care any less about how great the customer service is. I don't feel I should be paying extra for more customer service. If I do pay more, I'll show it in my tipping skills. As for the decor, it was well done. But I come to eat. If I want decor I'll sit at home. Now on to the food. Nothing on the appetizer menu made my mouth water so I skipped it. Sorry. That night there was a special of good old American Kansas City beef. Yes please. In add some green beans, fancied up cheesy potatoes with their chopped salad and I had a meal. Before, intra, and after I sipped a selection of specially wines (no beer on tap). Finished it all off with the hazelnut cake. SALAD: simple products and taste. Nothing to write about. Basically a waste of energy. STEAK: ah well this is a hard one. I have always been told that the Capital Grill had great steak and food overall. Add in the legendary Kansas beef and you should have an epic meal. I ordered the Kansas New York, as it should be, medium rare with no fancy seasoning or crust. It was delivered as such. The outcome was a simple, straightforward New York strip. Nothing fancy. Traditional. It had no extra taste, juiciness, etc. Just beef with a little fat for flavor. I don't recommend it. If simple is what you want buy the beef and do your worst at home. GREENS: basic over cooked green beans with some garlic and oil. No thanks. I can do the same at home as well. POTATOES: I can't remember what they were called but they mirrored mashed potatoes with a mix of cheese on top. Kind of like a scalloped potato dish but with real ingredients and the addition of garlic. Thumbs up good but really underwhelmed by the lack of uniqueness. WINE: as a rule I don't do wine so my opinion doesn't carry much weight. Last wine I had was while traveling Argentina. Good wine but different than the local. The restaurant was serving a handful of various wines. I tried most of them. Which is sad because I figured after that much wine the food would have tasted better. To my surprise, it didn't. But the wine was good, it paired well with the selection of meal items. I figured the wine was the seasoning and uniqueness for the dishes. Moving on... DESSERT: hazelnut chocolate cake with fudge. It wasn't bad but almost dry. Or maybe it was supposed to be as such. Next time, the cheesecake.

I took the fam here for Thanksgiving "dinner" as I had to work that night and was not going to cook a hug meal. The Thanksgiving special itself was not what we were expecting. Somehow, I interpreted the email I got to mean they were having a buffet which was not the case. It ended up working out but my stepson was a little disappointed. Cons: Service was really slow to begin with. It did pick up after a bit but they seemed really disorganized initially. The advertisement for the Thanksgiving dinner wasn't very clear so we didn't really get what we were expecting. Pros: Our waiter was awesome. Very nice, very accomodating. I am gluten free so he double checked on an item that was not gluten free that seemed like it should be. The reason it wasn't - the dressing was not made in an entirely gluten free facility. With that - they take people's allergies really seriously. I appreciate that more than more people could understand Our cocktails were so good! My daughter had lobster mac n cheese and thought it was the best ever. There were huge chunks of lobster in it. I think I want to go here again for a non-holiday dinner.

The bf and I had an excellent time here celebrating my birthday. We both like our steaks medium rare, but we've found that when dining out, most places slightly over cook the steaks a bit more than we like. We mentioned this to our waiter and he taught us something new. We both ordered our steaks RARE PLUS. I had the delmonico, the bf had the filet, and both were a PERFECT rare plus. My steak was quite large and so tasty as it's marinated in an aged balsamic. The bf's filet was super tender. We also shared a side of mixed mushrooms which went well with our steaks. Cap Grill was actually out of the bottle of wine we wanted to order, a Chianti, but we settled for glass pours of a pinot which went very well with the steaks. For dessert, we had the creme brulee and the flourless espresso cake. We've had both before, and this time was just another reminder of why the desserts are worth getting. Creme brulee is creamy with lightly burnt sugar and the chocolate cake is rich and will satisfy any chocolate craving. A perfectly sweet ending to a wonderful night. Service was outstanding, from the hostesses, to our waiter, to the guy refilling our waters. Consistency is key and Capital Grille has shown that they continue to be a great dining establishment with their delicious food and their outstanding service.

We have eaten at many Capital Grille's, and this was just not the same. There is typically a server and someone who busses the table and therefore the restaurant is very attentive to your needs. Not the case when we were there. The server was the only person, and the timing of the delivery of the food was pretty poor. We did not appreciate getting steak when we were still eating our starters. The food was good, but no one at our table was at all happy with the service. The server was friendly at times, but it seemed forced, not genuine. There are many choices in Seattle for steakhouses, having eaten many times at Capital Grille's in the past, I thought I had this nailed. Missed it by a long shot....

Food, service, and ambience was amazing! Expect to pay but you get what you pay for. We had a private room for a party of 10 which was wonderful. Even our children ate their food in 5 minutes without a complaint or sound! Will definitely go back there if ever in Seattle again.

Came here on a crowded Saturday with a party of five (team J-Lo-Hew here) and was seated quickly. Felt drastically underdressed but not underserved. Our waiter Thomas shared us the deets about the meats. And he did not disappoint. The porterhouse was, to quote Anthony Bourdain, "really good". Impressed by the private wine cubbies. What are they saving it for? One last toast to celebrate the final sunset?

Made reservations to check this spot out during Seattle restaurant week, definitely not disappointed! The filet mignon was so buttery tender and the accompanying balsamic reduction gave it that added elevation. They also have a nice happy hour menu consisting of $6 drinks and delectable bites to include lobster mac n cheese as well as sliders! Service was non pretentious and great chill atmosphere! Highly recommended!!! Will be back next time I'm craving steaks in the city!

I had never heard of Capital Grille but was dining here with the hubby and baby because it was his brother's 30th birthday. It was a family dinner with 6 adults and one baby. It wasn't terribly crowded but it wasn't empty either. Upon being shown to our table (which was round and in middle of the restaurant, I had to ask for a baby high chair. Eventually one was brought and I helped the baby get situated. The issue was the hostess didn't look too pleased with me despite that our baby never cries and wasn't seated near any other tables. Our waiter eventually arrived to take our drink orders and bring some bread for the table. Bonus points for bringing two baskets as I hate people who bring one for a giant table. The meal itself wasn't terrible and I believe most of the table had steak. The noise level never got too loud and we were able to talk comfortably without shouting. The issue I have is the steak was pretty spendy and I can honestly say I've had better. Del Frisco's made me love steak again and this was not to that caliber. Finally, baby was being a little fussy after being held by all the family members so I thought I'd take her and change her before heading home. After finally weaving my way to find the bathroom, it turns out there is NOT a changing table to be found. So I had to lay baby down on my changing pad on the floor of the handicap stall and pray she didn't roll off and hit her head or touch the filthy bathroom floor. Overall, pretty disappointing on all counts. I get that you want to be high end and don't want 'families' bogging down your business but would it kill you to have a changing table for the families who "do" like to celebrate despite having children?

I came here for lunch last week. I was meeting a colleague to discuss business. Everyone else there during lunch appeared to be talking business, too. (lots of suits and nice work dresses!) The service was exceptional. I had the cobb salad with steak and it was great.

I came here for a Restaurant Week a while ago and totally forgot to yelp! Unlike my memory, the food and service was unforgettable. A pleasant, attentive waiter, delicious steak (the filet mignon is so tender), rich but not heavy desserts, and a relaxing ambiance. I sometimes get the pretentious vibe from certain steakhouses, but The Capital Grille is definitely not one of them. This is the best restaurant I've gone to for restaurant week, and it's definitely a contender for restaurants I'd want to go to on special occasions. A plus? Free valet in the midst of crazy downtown traffic. LOVE IT.

The Capital Grille never disappoints every time I come here for Restaurant Week. I've always loved the beautiful atmosphere and the amazing food and service that they consistently provide. The complimentary valet parking is really helpful since parking in downtown Seattle is a pain...especially if it's raining! For appetizers I had the field greens salad which was ginormous, and my boyfriend had the clam chowder. The salad was refreshing and the chowder was rich and flavorful. We were both starving and I was happy that they provided us a variety of different breads to nibble on while we were waiting for our food. I love bread! The 14 oz Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry-Aged Sirloin has to be one of the most amazing steaks I had. The shallot butter sauce gave it lots of flavor and I really enjoyed their mashed potatoes. I was in heavenly bliss as I devoured each bite. Before I knew it, it was already time for dessert. I had their creme brulee which was amazing and he had the fruit sorbet. I personally liked the creme brulee more since it was a little more light and not as sweet as the sorbet. We were stuffed after our meal and could barely move! Service was excellent and our waitress checked up on us at just the right times. A lot of nice places tend to serve smaller portions especially during Restaurant Week but Capital Grille is the exception. If you are hungry or ravenous, this place is definitely worth it. And who doesn't like good steak??

I think all the reviews speak for itself. Food was excellent. Any cut, every cut. The accompaniments are so good, they can be deemed an entree themselves. The problem I have eating at the Capital Grille, is I tend to over order, because everything is so good. But I"m tried to limit myself to stick with the steak. Why make a good thing bad, by getting sick after. Service was top notch, probably one of the best compared to all other classy steak restaurants. Top your drinks, ask about your food, but is not pushy, and takes you to the restroom. Deemed worthy for any occasion big or small, and can accommodate any size parties. And just like any fancy restaurants should do, they are able to split the bill with n number of parties. Very romantic, or classy atmosphere. Surrounded by portraits of all the famous people the city is known for. I can't wait to go back :)

My absolute favorite place in Seattle. Great food, excellent management, always willing to accommodate, fantastic bartenders, great staff. Eat at the bar and enjoy a great steak with a more casual environment than a table. Also wine list is fantastic and stoli doli signature cocktail is definitely a must!!

I've always enjoyed Capital Grille. From my first experience in Washington D.C. to my latest at South Coast Plaza, I am always greeted and made to feel exquisitely comfortable, ready for a lunch or dinner that will be prepared to exacting standards and perfectly timed from appetizer to final cordials. The staff are all well-trained and attentive, the chefs understand the meaning of "rare" vs "medium rare" and the managers are always looking to make the experience a valuable one. My favorite, if I may be so bold, was my first, where I learned what "dry-aging" is all about, was in the Capitol, where I could actually see the white dome of our nation's Grecian rotunda (I think that's what they'd call it), gleaming brightly just up Pennsylvania St. What a great experience that was. The big, fat-cat politicians and dressed-so-pretty expensive attorneys all puffing fat cigars surrounded by dark woods, pricey wine bottles and a huge stuffed buffalo...such a cliche'. But what a memory it was! The west coast versions are just as classy though. The clientele may not be as dressy, or fat, or puff huge cigars, but the service and menu offers up the same quality and attention to detail you'd come expect after your very first time. And I like mine rare, like all things. So what did we enjoy this evening? We began with a nice Poet's Leap glass of wine Appetizer of proscuitto/Mozzarella wrapped scallops Porcini Delmonico with lobster tail Sauteed spinach We finished with a Dow's 10 year old port and the ice cream trio. That was it. Live well.

I've been to handful of Capital Grille's and this location provides a solid dining experience. They went out of their way to deliver a delightful birthday dinner. The steak was served promptly and the frites were perfectly crisped. Ask for their special house-made pineapple martini! They need to bottle it and sell it. So flavorful.

I debated giving this place 3 stars, but the service is so great that I bumped it up to four stars. I came here with a friend for lunch during restaurant week and they had a pretty good menu. I had a bowl of clam chowder as an appetizer. It was pretty good, but didn't blow my socks off, but it didn't completely suck either. We both tried the portabello panini and both agreed that it lacked any flavor, BUT the side of truffle fries was amazing and I completely forgot about the panini on the plate. The meal finished up with a slice of flourless chocolate cake and holy crap, it was amazing. If I could get that for an appetizer, entree, and dessert, I would be so happy (and on an amazing sugar high). Overall the food was alright, but I'm not going to judge this place on a crappy portabello panini. The service was AMAZING and very personalized. They can even get your meal out quickly if you are on time constraints. This place is very classy, and has a nice relaxed atmosphere.

A true five star experience! My husband and I came here to celebrate his birthday - and I think this might become a go to spot for ALL future celebrations! They made us feel extremely valued and special. The table was set up with some confetti and even a hand written birthday note from the manager. Nice touch! Our server Luis was one of THE best servers I have ever had. He provided the type of service I *rarely* find in Seattle - truely professional. He was generous with us through the entire meal including a huge dessert tray surprise at the end! And with a candle for the birthday boy no less! Now, you might say, I don't want to foot over a $$$ dinner just for amazing service! (which I could disagree with, but don't have to in this case). The food was stellar. Really! I know. I wasn't expecting much since it's a chain and growing up the granddaughter of a rancher I have higher than normal steak standards. But they exceeded my expectations. Aged in house and cooked to my exact specifications. The portions are generous but that didn't stop us from carrying on for nearly 3 hours. It was perfectly timed and paced and we enjoyed every single minute. Downers? It's much more of an "urban" feel than our typical go to El Gaucho. It is brightly lit and has windows looking out onto downtown foot traffic. I think we both liked it but also missed more of the elegant, vintage feel of the Gauch. OH and the TV's in the bar. Uuuuuugh. I know you probably have to keep them, but please please please turn them off on a Saturday night - especially when there is no game on that anyone is watching!!! Overall? Hells yes. Thank you for a memorable Birthday Dinner!!!

The steaks are good and the service is great. This is one of the better steak houses in Seattle although it's a chain. Not much to say other than that it's solid and has a good wine menu.

Arriving early for our reservation we were told they were running "right on our reservation time" -- so, why were we left sitting at the bar for nearly 15 minutes after our reservation (the hostess finally came and got us after the bartender intervened!) Take note: the drinks are at least doubles (made the $13 I paid for an Old Fashioned seem like a bargain since I effectively got 2 drinks). I had the field green salad (it was Restaurant Week, and the choices were soup, soup, or a salad) and it was okay. It was a plate with lettuce and dressing (I didn't expect much more). My husband ordered the porcini soup, which was creamy enough. My filet mignon was delicious, but I have a problem with a naked steak on a plate. A very small steak, in fact (small in diameter, even though it was half a pound) set into the middle of a very large plate. Oh, yeah, they added a couple of small leaves, like sage, or something, on the side of the plate. Other than that, the steak had about 4" on all sides of blank, white plate. Okay, I shouldn't complain. I got a $44 steak for $30 (with appetizer and dessert, to boot) but for me the presentation is as important as the food. That said, I spent half the dinner plateless. Once I started cutting my steak it was raw inside (I'd ordered medium rare) and I had to send it back. You'd think a steakhouse would be able to judge medium-rare (my husband's sirloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare - exactly what he'd asked for). The service (once we finally got to our table) was good, though I had to flag down the waiter to send the steak back. The water glasses were continually filled, which is important to me.

I was here during a business trip so we had a huge meal. This is the third Capital Grille I visit (New York & Baltimore) and have had a great time at all of them, but I had the best time here. My coworkers and I got there on time for our reservation, maybe 5-10 minutes late, but they sat us right away. The manager greeted us and kept joking asking if he could join us for dinner. We of course said yes, but knew that he was joking. That was pretty funny and a great way to kill time while we waited for the food. He checked in with us several times which made our experience great. He ended up pretending to sit with us and after a few laughs left us to enjoy dinner. The bread selection they bring to the table is always warm and very yummy which makes me want to eat a lot of bread and try each one. I got the glazed salmon which I have enjoyed at every location and it's always great. My coworkers ordered the Kobe steak and they absolutely loved it. You can't go there without ordering the awesome sides. We ordered the lobster mac&cheese, the asparagus, truffle fries (amazing), and something that had bacon in it (I don't eat meat so I can't remember). I can never leave Capital Grille without ordering the cheesecake and as always it was amazing! It makes me want one just thinking about it.

Is it bad? no.. but they need to take a look at how the Met works. The menu is boring and unimaginative. The cuts of meat was mediocre at best the preparation was 'average' - charring on the meat was not there, and medium rare can't be that hard to achieve right? i mean u're a steak house, ur chef must know medium rare.. Sides were bland, and overly greasy.. yah i'd avoid this place.. for similar cost, why bother with here and just go to the Met Grill.

My sister took her family to Capital Grill for one of the most amazing birthday lunches I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying! What makes the place so incredible, even more than the food, is the SERVICE. Waiters who are engaging, witty, and soooo hospitable. THey even treated my sis and our table to free champagne alongside the birthday cake. I highly recommend this outstanding restaurant to ANYONE!

We needed a snack and the Capitol Grill helped us out. They didn't mind if we sat at the bar and had a bottle of wine and an appetizer. I think the rack of lamb will be perfect. Four perfectly cooked lamb lollipops arrived. The wine recommendation was spot on and the knowledge of the staff and sommelier was perfect. Thank you!

"Sweet", I thought to myself while driving through downtown Seattle a few weeks ago. "They've opened a Capital Grill here!" I had previously eaten at a Capital Grill in Las Vegas and had a terrific meal and I had been thinking about taking the wife out for a nice meal to celebrate a weekend sans children. (Later I found out that the Seattle location has been open for nearly five years. I guess I need to get downtown more!) I made my reservation online and received a follow up call two days before the reservation to confirm everything. We arrived a few minutes early and our table was not quite ready. No problem, but we decided not to wait in the bar because we were going to order a bottle of wine once we got to the table. Those few minutes were the only part of the evening that wasn't perfect. The reception area of the restaurant is very small with no seating, so we had to just sort of stand off to the side trying to stay out of the way of wait staff and customers coming and going. Happily once we were seated, it was in a booth right in the middle of the restaurant--a perfect people watching location. Our waiter, Joel Mendieta, greeted us by name and throughout the course of the evening provided us with as fine of service as I've had in any restaurant anywhere in the world. Our meal: Started with a delicious bottle of the Walla Walla winery Va Piano, Bruno's Blend VII. I appreciate the use of a carafe to help the wine breath appropriately. Split a Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil with 12-year Aged Balsamic salad. To be honest, we could have probably each had our own, but we didn't want to overeat before the actual meal came. I had the Bone-In Kona Crusted Dry Aged Sirloin with Shallot Butter, medium. It was cooked to perfection. The unusual flavorings took some getting accustomed to, but within a few bites, I was enjoying it thoroughly. My wife had the Filet Mignon, which was also cooked to perfection. For side dishes we had the Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Mosto and the Sam's Mashed Potatoes. Both tasted fabulous, although I might have preferred the potatoes to be a bit firmer. For dessert I had the Coconut Cream Pie and my wife, the Cheesecake. The servings were all generous and we both took home leftovers from our steaks and desserts. Throughout the meal, we were given exceptional attention by both Joel and his supporting team. Our wine and waters were refilled on a proactive basis throughout the meal, our napkins were refolded when we got up to use the restroom and never once did we feel rushed or like the table needed to be turned over for the next seating. Small details. I loved that the leftovers were delivered with a signed note from the chef, "We are glad you enjoyed your meal enough to take some home with you." At the end of the meal our waiter Joel handed me his business card and said that he would be delighted to have opportunity to serve us again on a future visit. Never in my life can I recall having a waiter hand me a business card and ask for my business like that. I was tremendously impressed. Total meal including tax and tip, $249. An expensive night out to be sure, but a memorable one too.

Couldn't ask for better service, treated like royalty. My kids said it was the best Mac n cheese they have ever eaten. The treated my children very very well, which impressed me because I was a little nervous taking them there in the first place. We will eat here every time we are in Seattle!

This restaurant wins hands down for the best service in town! Why was the service so good you ask? Well... #1 My co-worker had smudges on his glasses and asked if happened to have an eyeglasses cloth in my purse (I am sort of like Mary Poppins with her magical bag). Unfortunately, I was cloth-less. But low and behold, a waiter suddenly walks by at the same moment, whips one out of his suit pocket and swiftly hands it to my co-worker. Umm, can you say attentive and prepared server? #2 We made reservations as a group for Restaurant Week and didn't ask for anything special since we knew we were going to get a steal on a delicious meal. But they made us feel special anyway and gave us our own private room away from all the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. How nice of them! $3 There were two dessert options on the Restaurant Week menu and one of our co-workers was not too excited about her selection after it arrived. She happily ate it anyway but casually mentioned to us that she wished she had order the other option. Guess what? A few minutes later our server brought her the other dessert on the house! #4 A nice little hank you note is attached to your leftovers, complete with the Chef's signature. The food was also wonderful. But honestly, I would go back just for the service!

My second SRW try, I've know this place is packed during lunch n dinner hours, but I didn't know it was THIS packed. I went for lunch at around 12ish, the place was already packed and people were already waiting to be seated. I thought one person lunch would get me faster to be seated but I was wrong. I still have to wait 30-45mins even I want to sit at the bar. So I waited around, and people started to get seated, even the people arrived after me got seated so I was a bit upset. I went over to the podium and approach the hostess and she said since people were switching tables, it will just be a few more minutes. I asked if is okay for me to sit at the bar since there are a few seats opened up and she said yes. I ordered salad, dry-aged sirloin and creme brulee from the SRW menu list. The bartender/server was really nice. During my lunch she checked my table couple times and chatted with me for a bit since I was dining alone. However the food was a bit disappointing compare to what me friends told me, maybe it was dinner time when they went there. The starter bread was good, I love the salted butter that comes with it. The salad was good, nothing could go wrong with that. The Dry-aged sirloin was a bit too dry and the end piece was a bit over cooked. Since this place is known for its steak, therefore I think having a sirloin to be a bit over cooked is not a good thing. The creme brulee was great, the strawberry was a great touch. Overall experience was just a three star, would have given a higher rating if the seating experience was a bit better and the sirloin is done right. I would give it another try next week for the dinner menu and see if it deserve a higher rating.

My wife and I come from the San Francisco Bay Area , a well known Mecca for foodies.... Seattle has every bit the food culture and the Capitol grille should be one of those must dine spots! The service is outstanding an the ambiance rich with dark wood furnishings , paintings ( notably ; Bruce Lee and jimmy Hendrix done in classical style) the lighting is just right for an intimate date nite. But the star of this show is the food! I had the 14 oz dry aged ribeye steak, juicy, oh so tender, grilled to perfection and seasoned just right!!! My wife had the dry aged sirloin experienced to the same melt in your mouth effect! We shared the wild mushroom side for two.... Oh my gosh! Those mushrooms could've been a main dish! So flavorful , and again seasoned to perfection!!! Excellent wine and cocktail list! Though we didn't have dessert, we will be back again! For this high quality of service and food expect an $50 + average per person. But let me reiterate , it is fully worth it for that special night out when nothing less than stellar will do!

This review is for Thanksgiving Holiday meal 2014. I know it's a little late, but better late than never. I came here with my girlfriend for Thanksgiving night dinner visiting from out of town. I had made reservations ahead and was expecting a full house since there were not too many restaurants opened that night. We arrived well ahead of our reservation time, yet we still had to wait past the intended time by 15 minutes. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere with classic décor. Upon seating we were greeted by our friendly server, but that's about as good as this night is going to get. Although we came here on Thanksgiving Day, we didn't really care for the traditional turkey meal. Our server insisted and highly recommended having one, so we did. Ordering a different entrée from the regular menu we chose the lamb chops along with the salad to start with. The food came in a timely manner. As we sunk into our first bite, so did our excitement. I have to say, the way the turkey meal was prepared is no better than the Marie Calendar turkey meal. By that, I mean the microwavable version. That was how dry and bland the turkey tasted. The stuffing was soggy, and the mash potato (not 100% sure it's part of the meal) never came. The plate definitely has plenty of real estate. For 2 slices of dry breast meat and mediocre sides, this cost over $30? The Lamb chop was just as disappointing as they were over cooked. Even the asparagus tips were shriveled up. Oh, about our waiter. I never saw him once during our meal until it's time for dessert. No thank you. We will pay the bill and go. I don't accept the excuse that it's the holidays and it's busy. If a restaurant chooses to stay open and accept business, you better make sure you do it well. Or are they just as bad on any given day?

I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and we were very impressed. Our waiter Chris was amazing and not only upsaled his food like a pro...but he had me wanting to eat everything on the menu....I have a credit limit on my card for reasons like this. Our drink for the night was a champaign cocktail which had some st.Germain in it and a raspberry....I talked to Chris on the side and asked that he just keep bringing drinks for the table (had 5 people with us) and that any booze that hit the table was on my tab. He nailed it. Food was amazing. You can't go wrong with anything there. After our meal Chris offered to take us to the place where they dry age their meat and it was awesome. Great steakhouse experience, worth every cent.

the restaurant gets a five star because of their outstanding service! from your server who personally wants to make sure your experience is superb, to the support staff ensuring your water glass is full, to management. while the five star doesn't reflect last night's thanksgiving menu, the food has been five stars during my previous visits. we came here for the holiday and I ordered the traditional turkey dinner which was initially dry, however, the staff was very accommodating and provided me a new plate and it tasted so much better. we also ordered some sides, two of which are my favorite here-the au gratin potatoes and mushrooms. in the past, those two sides tasted like heaven in your mouth (I remember my friends and I always drooling over the flavors and textures...mmm); however, last night was just average and tasted a bit different. even the steak that my bf ordered seemed a little off in grade. i'm going to chalk it up to an isolated incident because my previous experience doesn't match with last night's holiday menu. overall, what stood out last night was the wonderful service to ensure we were happy with our visit and I can definitely appreciate that. our server deveaux was personable, brian and steve in management were impeccable! thank you gentlemen for caring about us and taking the time to make our dining experience the best. p.s. wine list is great with local and national offerings.

We usually visit the Capitol Grille for restaurant week every year. The service is usually top notch and the food is delicious and a great value! However, this year's visit was a bit disappointing. Maybe they were having an off night because they were extremly busy. We had dinner reservations at 7:45 and was probably not seated for a good 20 minutes or so. Service for the most part was great. They were very attentive, refilled our waters, wine glasses, bread. There was one server who had brought out my soup, seemed to be having a shitty night, took his fustration out on me. He literally threw my cup of soup on the table, spilling it onto the serving plate it was sitting on and walked off. Just plain rude. I had the Kona sirloin which was cooked to perfection, but was lacking in flavor a bit. The salmon was also cooked to perfection, but the honey glaze just didn't taste right... seemed like it was missing something. The creme brulee was good, but the generous 3 scoops of sorbet was on the sweet side of things. I'm pretty torn and would love to give this place a 4 or 5. But it just wasn't like it used to be.

Awful experience all around. We cannot afford to spend this much very often but had planned a special dinner during Seattle restaurant week to treat my parents. What we received was absolutely horrible service and just ok food. We let the manager on duty know that our server had gone missing multiple times and that our wait of an hour between entree and dessert was unacceptable. He seemed receptive to the feedback, apparently so much so that he confronted the waiter right away, after which the waiter returned to the table and awkwardly confronted us about our feedback. This made what had already been a long and painful dinner so awkward! After we returned home the manager called to apologize which I appreciated, he and I corresponded via email where he told me that our waiter had come to work impaired and promised to make it up by mailing gift certificates. Two months later and I haven't received anything :( so much for customer service, I expect so much more from a place like this.

Ordered the Porterhouse because it's my favorite. I like my steak medium rare. By the time I started getting close to the bone, the steak was turning too rare and I quit. The bartender told me that's what happens with Porterhouses. I didn't belive him and didn't argue with him about it. You don't charge a customer 49.00 for a Porterhouse if you can't cook it right and if you can't, make it smaller.

Combine classy atmosphere with free valet parking and delicious food and it's darn near impossible not to dole out a 5 star review! I'm super excited for the launch of CG's new happy hour. Discounted drinks and food? Score! Living just a few blocks from the heart of downtown, there's no excuse not to visit the Capital Grille more often. Have you tried their signature Stoli Doli yet? Just as amazing as everything else they have! Go there... NOW!

I recently posted as my Facebook status, "Somedays I just want to shop, get pampered and eat ridiculously good food." I accomplished that when dropping by the Capital Grille. First impressions really are everything and walking up to see free valet parking impressed me - that is such a nice service. From the look of most of their clientelle they can definitely afford to pay for that service but while people watching I was delighted that the common man also eats here. The waitstaff are amazing and cater to your every whim. I had friends I was meeting so I was in a touch of a hurry so I let the waitress know. She smiled and said of course she would have no issue at all working with my time schedule. She brought me a heavenly glass of wine I savored through the who experience. Their bread assortment was impressive and offered something for every pallette - it was served warm with perfectly room temperature butter for easy spreadability....it really is the little things. My waitress even brought me a little vittle from the chef which was a bite of delicious...just the perfect morsel he created to tell me more was to come. And oh it did. Swordfish grilled to perfection with a slight sauce, asparagus tips, roasted tomatoes and corn. I nearly licked my plate and vowed I will always visit this monument to Seattle when I visit.

What can be said that hasn't already been said? I took customers here for dinner this week. Food was impeccable and service was outstanding. You can't go wrong with a Capitol Grille. Dined here past Sunday (Sep 22) for the first time. Classy decor and atmosphere but with a variety of clientele, from Seahawks jersey to well tailored suits. We ordered smoked salmon for appetizer (great flavor, good portion sized, so would have wished for more pita chips). I had the Kona Crusted Sirloin (interesting flavor) and my wife the Dry Aged Sirloin (juicy and cooked to perfection). We also ordered Grilled Asparagus to share (fresh and flavorful). Service is attentive, yet not intrusive. Any question was answered fully and with patience. There was no indication of hurried service anywhere. Really enjoyed the dining experience. Will return.

I really enjoy eating here when the budget permits..and even more so when I'm being treated ;) I've ordered food to go and have been here for both lunch and dinner. Service is always top notch, including the different waitstaff I've had. They really know how to cater to the customer. On my most recent visit, Chris W. was our waiter and he did an awesome job. l'll be sure to ask for him the next time I come in. As for the food..so far I've really liked what I've gotten..parmesan truffle fries, seared citrus glazed salmon, and lobster & crab stuffed shrimp. I am also obsessed with their lobster mac and cheese! It's a decadent dish of pasta and chunks of lobster baked to perfection in a mascarpone cream sauce. My sister has tried their wagyu burger which she really enjoyed, and the bf has had the bone-in kona crusted sirloin that he wasn't too crazy about (which I attribute to him mostly liking his steaks more simply seasoned). Overall though, speaking for myself..I am definitely a fan of this place.

What an absolutely lovely experience. My sister and I went to Seattle for a little vacation and relaxation. Our first night in Seattle, we found The Capital Grille. Everything was perfect; from the charming male host to our fantastic waiter, Michael. The food was amazing. The Delmonico steak was cooked perfectly and a flourless chocolate cake was to die for. What made this such a wonderful experience was the service. I wish I could remember everyone's name because I would give them all Yelp shout outs. They were all so welcoming and Michael even gave us a list of things to do in Seattle. Next time I'm up in Seattle, I will definitely go back.

Call me a food snob because the food here is just okay. Maybe their flavors are not to my liking. It was difficult to find a somewhat fancy restaurant near our hotel and at a walk-able distance. So this place came up on yelp and thought it was worth a try with many reviews. The lighting here was so dark, I felt like I could nap here. Jk.. the service was okay, I mean I guess cause we look young that the service is not going to be top notch like it was offered from other servers to older patrons. The steak I had was paired with a sweet sauce and I just did not like it whatsoever but sucked it up and ate it. I had the chance to try their lobster bisque and I recommend ordering it because it was bombbb! It was flavorful, fresh, and most importantly delicious!! Umm their dessert can be passed and nothing really stood out. That chocolate cake was way over priced and not that great.

Best Service & Food. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. They had a table set up with confetti and card when we arrived brought out an amazing complimentary dessert with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. Then if that wasn't awesome enough they took our picture at the table with the desert and brought it back to later in a little frame!! Amazing! The manager even came over and talked to us and let us know the Belgian beer my boyfriend was drinking wasn't something they normally carry but if they let us know ahead they'll have it for our next visit.

I've been back a few more times since my first review and I have to say my first visit may have been just a bad night. I still don't find the food here exceptional but it is good and when you add in the fantastic and consistent service you get they definitely deserve 4 stars. The lobster and crab cakes are very good. There is very little filler so you are really just getting tons of meat. The calamari dish is so-so. It's got a great kick of spice so for all you hot food lovers go for this one. The smoked salmon appetizer is de-lish as well but probably just because I'm obsessed with smoked salmon. I would definitely recommend the French Onion Soup as well as The Capital Grille Chopped Salad. The soup is just oozing with goodness and the salad has so many delicious toppings I couldn't keep track. The Field Greens salad is just your typical plain old salad. Entrees are actually probably my least favorite dishes at this restaurant. I've never been all that impressed by the Filet Mignon but the Bone-In Kona Crusted Sirloin is pretty tasty and I couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous size of the steak. It was about the size of Alaska and Montana combined. No joke. The Cedar Planked Salmon isn't anything special and there are far better restaurants in the city that serve much better salmon. The Lobster and Crab Stuffed Shrimp is flavorful but a pretty meager portion size. Surprisingly, the chicken entree is actually really good. They leave the crispy skin on and the meat is succulent and delicious. The mashed potatoes are a good side as well as the creamed spinach, but I definitely don't wanna know the calories in either. Both the green beans and sauteed spinach are good too and probably a lot healthier. I never tried the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake again so as far as I know it is still as bad as the last time, but both the Creme Brulee and the Flourless Chocolate Cake are rich and tasty. Oh and of course my favorite...the 4 different breads they serve. Mmmmm...That will never let me down :)

Friendly staff and great service! We were here for a Saturday night dinner, and everything was just great. I ordered the sirloin which was very flavorful, and I was very happily stuffed. Everybody enjoyed their different cuts of steaks, and the side of mushrooms is always a favorite.

We've made numerous visits, each time as good or better than the last. It's pricey making it a very special occasion place to dine. However this time our server, Juan I believe, "remembered" us from a previous visit and offered us a complimentary flute of champagne. Okay, so perhaps he didn't really remember us, but we sure remembered him. He was so friendly, so accommodating, that even if there was an issue it would have been resolved without question. The entire staff, from the greeters to the bussers to the managers and wait staff are to be congratulated for pulling of a difficult concept with aplomb!

We stopped by sometime in the fall last year for their restaurant week with some friends. I was rather surprised that the place was packed on a cold Monday night. Between my husband and I, we ordered: Starters: Seasonal soup - Porcini Clam chowder Entrees: Kona crusted sirloin Porcini filet mignon Dessert: Espresso cake Creme brulee I thought both soups were great. The Porcini soup was light and not very creamy (which may or may not be a good thing depending on your preference). My filet mignon was good but my husband's kona crusted sirloin was better. The sauce was delicious. The meat quality was decent but not as high quality as john howie's. The desserts were decent but not memorable. Service was ok but impersonal. Generally ok experience but there are better steakhouses in Seattle.

Me and a friend came here for Seattle Restaurant Week. For my appetizer I ordered the butternut soup w/ curried apples. This dish was absolutely amazing. The apples added a great sour twist to the sweet flavor of the soup. For the main course I ordered the 14oz bone in sirloin. This was cooked a perfect medium rare, just the way I like it. It was tender and very flavorful. And for dessert, I opted for the strawberry and lime sorbet. This was a bit of a disappointment because it was a little too sweet for me. I would rate the food a 4/5. The service definitely deserved a 5. The waiter came and checked on us often and made sure our glass was always full. He was also very knowledgeable of the wine and paired it with our meal. Overall, this was a very lovely dining expereince and would love to come back one day.

Last night was without a doubt the best Steak experience I've had in Seattle and moving from Tulsa, OK (beef country) that says alot. This place has its house in order, I was impressed with every single part of our evening. We had enough people at our table to order most of the menu and we all shared most of it; amazing!!! The Delmonico (med rare) I had last night was prepared perfectly and tasted amazing. We will be back, often.

I don't know where to begin! The restaurant is really nice great ambiance I loved it. My sons brought me here for Mother's day and I couldn't have been happier with their choice. They always find the really nice restaurants. The staff was excellent and very attentive. We received complimentary champagne and dessert for Mothers Day I felt so special!! It was a great dinner the food was also excellent! I had Sirloin tip with Lobster (lobster is my fave food) The Lobster was so tender and flavorful! It melted in my mouth it was that good!! i would definitely go back and I would suggest giving it a try.If ur ever in town and want some good food and the wine selection is huge! Expect to pay a pretty penny for dinner but if you have it have some fun and good food in a great atmosphere :)

This was hands down the best meal of my entire life. After mentioning that it was our anniversary on our reservation, my fiancée and I were surprised over and over: our table decorated with hearts, a handwritten note from the staff, complimentary champagne, lobster appetizer, and dessert. I had never experienced that level of service! We did the 3 course restaurant week menu: the mushroom soup was wonderful, my king salmon was cooked perfectly, and the crème brulee was fantastic. My fiancée's steak was also cooked perfectly medium, and the mashed potatoes were to die for! So good. In addition, the bread basket was very delicious. I would also highly recommend my cocktail, the Stoli Doli. Lastly, the desserts, with "happy anniversary" on the plate, were incomparable. I really could not give more praise to this restaurant for their service, food, or atmosphere. Thank you, Capital Grille!

Free valet parking? Sold! Not many downtown restaurants provide this kind of service so I see that as a perk for the downtown driver. I decided to choose this restaurant for Happy Hour because of an article I read on the Seattle Times website about a year ago. I decided to check out Capital Grille's website to browse their food items. The selection sounded appealing so I got a couple of foodie coworkers together and picked a day after work. One of my coworkers decided to drive that day. We drove northbound on 4th Ave and right after University St the valet employee greeted us on the east side of the restaurant. We walked in and we were greeted. My coworkers and I decided to grab a table near the window. Our server slowly made his way to our table. I had the Miniature Tenderloin Sandwiches. It didn't take too long until our food arrived. The sandwiches were okay until I bit into the middle. Pink meat with blood. I forgot to tell my server to have them cook it "well done". I ate around the edges but I was still hungry. We all wanted to order more food but our server wasn't as attentive as he should have been. Eventually he came around and we got to order again. I shared the Miniature Lobster and Crab Burgers with a coworker. Delicious. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was relaxing. I would definitely come back without the expectation of quick service.

Just had the greatest experience at capital grill. They made an error. But then went so over and above to correct it that it turned a potentially frustrating experience into a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it. We all make tiny errors. But how you handle it is what matters.

Boyfriend and I went to an Elite Event here a couple years ago, and we always vowed to return... so this year for my birthday, we finally did! And it was all that AND a bag of chips. To start off our meal, we had steak tartare, and I had the lobster bisque. The steak tartare was super yummy, mixed up with egg -- in spite of our love of red meat, we'd never had steak tartare before, so this was a great introduction to the dish. The lobster bisque had huge chunks of tasty lobster in it, but I regret not having tried their French onion soup... maybe next time. For entrees, I had the Delmonico steak and my boyfriend had the steak au poivre. Both came out perfectly medium rare and melted in our respective mouths. For our sides we went with the asparagus and the creamed spinach. I'm in love with creamed spinach so I can tell you that The Capital Grille definitely makes an amazing creamed spinach. Going for a simple dessert, we got seasonal berries in vanilla cream -- this was PERFECT, after all the rich foods we had eaten. Totally looking forward to coming back, I think it'd be tough to be disappointed with The Capital Grille.

First off- what is up w/Seattle's business hours? It opens late and closes early!! Why is steak house closed at 11PM on a weekend? It doesn't make any sense! But of course I wouldn't take off a star just because of that! The good was delicious and the service was pretty good! We enjoyed all the entrees, sides, and dessert. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good steak. And it is one of few places that says open "late"

This is another good location before enjoying the Seattle Symphony. There is comprementary valet parking. The restaurant was in a classic high end American steak house decor. Dark wood dark lighting and old looking paintings... They took pride of thier steak and services. I will say it is comparable to John Howie. Personally, I like John better for it's less pretentious atmosphere and services. At John, I feel the upscale at ease relax dinning experience. I would recommend the Happy Hour here.

I can eat volume with the best of them, but the 14oz sirloin was so huge I wish I had shared with my spouse. Unless this will be the only meal you eat all day...split the steaks and save 50% off the prices...which are hefty ($45 for my steak, and that was low end). Steaks are perhaps best ive ever eaten, but dont come with any sides. Sides are also huge and made for sharing.

Came here for my birthday while I was visiting. This steak chain "did it up good" for me. Typical steak house layout with typical offerings served by friendly people. Drinks are generous pours in the 11$ range, so probably a decent value. My meal, of three, was messed up. the lamb came MW instead of Rare+. The made me a new one and packed it to go. Nice touch. The other two dishes were perfect. Sides are huge and are for sharing. They comped a very nice desert. All in all a very good showing from this steak house chain.

Bottom Line: Classy steak house, a little pricey but intimate. In a Few Words: Food - Quality stuff - meat, seafood, fresh veggies, truffle oil fries! Drinks - Full bar, decent wine list, bottled beer only (craft and domestic macrobrews) Ambiance - Classy, rich. Service - Friendly and attentive. The Details: No doubt about it, this is a classy joint with great service. While attending a conference up the street I was looking for a quiet and tasty lunch option. The Capital Grille was just the ticket. What drew me in was their $16 "Plates Menu." Basically you get a soup or salad, a high end sandwich and a side dish for $16. I went for a green salad, lobsta' roll and truffle fries. The salad, simple as it was, was very good. The greens were super fresh and I loved the dressing. Deciding between the lobster roll and steak sliders was tough and I don't think you could go wrong with either. The lobster roll was more lobster and less mayonnaisey than I was expecting which was good. The truffle fries had a distinct truffle oil flavor to them and I could have just licked the yummy oil and salt off of each one but I thought the bartender might find that a little odd. So I had a few fries, finished my IPA and was on my way.

Good food, good drink, great service and very accommodate restaurant. I ordered Lamb chop with medium, but it tasted like medium well, the waiter asked if he can make me a new one, I was been really understanding, since I have worked at hospitality industry for so long, so I decided to try another piece first, then the other one turned out Well done, so I had no choice to ask for a new one. The manager Craig came to apologize to us and brought me a new Lamb chop with a new lobster macaroni n cheese (we ordered one at beginning). At the end, he came to apologized again and said "a lady shouldn't wait for her dinner, so the Lamb chop is on us". I told him that he doesn't need to do it, because everything is just wonderful, I didn't mind to wait for a bit, however he insisted. All I can say is, we do love their service and food, everything tasted great and flavorful. We will definitely go back soon.

I had a lovely dinner here. I started with the cold seafood platter. It consisted of a full pound Maine lobster, 6 jumbo shrimp and 6 Pacific oysters. 50 bucks well-spent, every morsel was fresh and succulent. One tiny little note the restaurant could improve on: I am originally from the Northeast, and I can tear up some lobster! The only implement given to me was a shell-cracker. No little fork to coax out the morsels we know exist inside the joints of the claw portion. It made me realize what I take for granted in a restaurant used to serving lobster. I must say though, that the lobster itself was perfect. Not even the least bit dry; the way to tell is if you can get the meat out of the tail fins...yes, there is meat there and it is very sweet! :) My main meal consisted of a 10 oz filet mignon and it was prepared perfectly to order. Service was good, my waitress was very personable and also very knowledgeable about all the different offerings. I would come here again without hesitation.

Excellent steaks, always perfectly cooked. Service is consistently outstanding. Bar and wine list are also great. Atmosphere is formal to the point of being stuffy and the prices are relatively high, but it's an excellent place for a business lunch or dinner.

I believe this was my first meal here, and though reviews are generally positive it isn't a place I'd normally choose because the menu is pretty run-of-the-mill American steakhouse and though that can be good my preferences run toward more interesting cuisine such as French or Spanish. So why Capital Grille? My wife and I had tickets to a show at the 5th Ave and Capital Grille is very close to the theater and had good reviews with a decent seafood selection, which is appealing to my wife. Service was very good and helpful both in terms of preferences and timing due to our need to compress dinner to get to the show on time. We were advised to go off-menu in order to satisfy the desire for two main courses - a 'combo' of sorts with a rub from one dish and puree from another - which turned out to be the perfect amount of food as well as a great combination (Kona rub with mushroom reduction plus lobster) and the porterhouse steak was cooked perfectly, though perhaps a bit less cooked than my wife asked for (for which I was grateful). The bread basket was above average. The wine list was extensive but disappointing because there were no half-bottles. Additionally, the one glass pour of Gramercy was not available. That said, I was offered a taste of a substitute for the Gramercy and it was decent. I ended up choosing a glass of Rhone that paired very well with the steak - delicious enough to order a refill. Cost of all glass wines was very steep, however. Bottles looked much more reasonably priced but alas no half bottles. Side dishes have shareable options and we ordered one of those, creamed corn with bacon. My wife and I both thought the bacon flavor was vanishingly small. In the end we were out just in time to make show time and both of us stuffed from one main course of an admittedly huge steak and pleased for the meal but not in 'wow' mode at all. The atmosphere is old school and business dinner and in general we avoid that unless the food is outstanding and in the case of a traditional steakhouse even outstanding might not be enough. Alas, Capital Grille is good and based upon one experience can grill a mean steak, but the remainder of the menu isn't likely to pack any surprises or wows, so I am sure we wouldn't return without a logistical need to do so.

Had a very nicely prepared citrus glazed salmon for dinner tonight ... unlike when my husband ordered this dish a while back, it arrived perfectly medium-rare ... and, it was seasoned to my liking with the right amount of the citrus-honey based glaze. The side order of asparagus with lemon was also very well prepared (roasted with a little olive oil and salt). My husband really enjoyed his Wagyu burger (but still feels the burger at Local 360 is better, different, but better). He didn't care for the truffle fries, which were nice and crispy, but doused with white truffle oil. I'd skip the french onion soup here ... have tried it a couple of times during lunch and just doesn't do it for me ... broth isn't rich enough and the cheese isn't gratineed ... still find the bowl at The Met to be among the better options in Seattle (it's not on the lunch menu anymore, but they'll make it for you upon request anyway)

The Capital Grille is where my boyfriend and I celebrated our One year anniversary, and I am so glad we did! He called them up a few hours before our arrival to mention that it was our anniversary, and they made sure and pull out all the bells and whistles for us. We were seated and had hearts all over the table, a signed note from the staff, and two glasses of champagne to start off the evening. From start to finish the service here was top notch. We were both super impressed. From the champagne, to the complimentary dessert, extra glasses of wine, and no rush to order, and despite being there after closing time, no rush to leave either. Our server was kind, attentive, and very knowledgeable. The food was all delicious too. We started off with the french onion soup and the ceasar salad. Both were good, but I doubt I would order them again. I had the Dry Aged Steak au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream, which was fantastic. A bit too much pepper for my taste, but the steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. My boyfriend had the Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster Tail and absolutely loved it. I had a bite of the tenderloin, and it was perfect. We also shared the mashed potatoes. I think everyone knows how much I love potatoes, and let me tell you, these may have been the best mashed potatoes I have ever had. So buttery and delicious. The bottle of wine that my boyfriend picked out for our dinner was fantastic too,a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from a local winery. They have a very impressive wine list. Our server also brought us out a complimentary dessert which included a slice of the espresso chocolate cake and the coconut cream pie. Both were delicious, the cake was very rich though and neither of us could enjoy more than a couple of bites, the coconut cream pie though was delicious. I would definitely order that again. While we were enjoying our dessert, since it was the end of the evening, our server gave us the rest of an opened bottle of wine, which was very kind, and very tasty. I had been here once before for a Yelp Elite event, so I knew the service was top notch and that this place is quite swanky. It was perfect for our anniversary, and I would definitely be back again. Compared to other Steak Houses, the prices were completely reasonable as well.

As a first time traveler to Seattle we wanted a nice dinner for two. This place is classic. Definitely a timeless local spot that offers amazing food with high end attention. The servers we had never let our glasses empty and were professionals at their job. Even though my husband and I had jeans with long Sleeves while it seemed like everyone else looked great, they treated us with Priority. The price was fair for the amount of food received. Had two Tenderloin and Lobster dinners, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Multiple beers and a glass of wine for about $175. I highly recommend this place and will come again on my next Seattle stop!

Recently went here for a business dinner. I would honestly rate this place higher due to their stellar level of customer service but I really felt that their food was just subpar. I was excited to try it due to all the great reviews but I wasn't impressed by the food. I ordered a wedge salad and it was drenched in dressing and my Kona dry aged steak was bland and lacked flavor. The sides were pretty decent. We ordered the potato au gratin and asparagus. One of my collegues ordered the filet oscar and he also mentioned that it was a bit bland. As for the customer service, this was amazing. They placed us in a private room and our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the menu and especially about the wines. In addition, the Dining Room Manager joined us for a bit to thank us for joining them that night. Overall, it was a good experience and everyone enjoyed themselves. I just wished that the food was better.

Capital Grille is one of many fine dining steakhouses in Seattle. Unfortunately, for the price it does not match the other restaurants, such as El Gaucho, Morton's to the Metro Grille. The steaks are good but not outstanding. The servers are very friendly but for example, it took 30 minutes to find the bottle of wine we ordered. By the time they found it, we could have drank a full bottle. Not a "must" return restaurant.

I went here for happy hour. First of all, I LOVE that there is complimentary valet parking. Definitely a huge plus. They have a good happy hour food and drink selection (some places just don't have a good food selection and that sucks). The food was decent, but nothing that really stood out as a must have. On the flip side, I enjoyed the food so there wasn't anything I would say to avoid either. Plus the bar was pretty vibrant if you're looking for a place that isn't dead. I would come back again and recommend this for group happy hours due to the combination of free parking, good selection, and vibrant atmosphere.

Fantastic anniversary dinner! I had made reservations on line and indicated that my husband and I would be celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary and that we were also allergic to gluten. When we arrived, we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and given menus with gluten free options. Our table also had a nice welcome card from The Capital Grille Team, thanking us for choosing to celebrate with them. Our server, Carmen, was very friendly and spot-on with asking us if we needed drink refills at just the right time. Our appetizer and both dinners were delicious and at the end of the meal, Carmen brought out a fantastic gluten-free chocolate dessert with fresh berries. "Happy Anniversary" was written in chocolate on the plate, adding to the special feel. (Gluten Free people will appreciate that the dessert was not sorbet, crème brulee or ice cream, the usual, uninspired GF desserts) Carmen offered to take our photo, and when our camera didn't work, she brought out the restaurant camera and took a great picture and gave us a print at the end of our evening. Just want to say thank you to the whole team at The Capital Grille for making it such a lovely evening!

Hubby and I had our 10th anniversary dinner here - overall we enjoyed it, but the food wasn't the stand out experience we've come to expect at Capital Grille. We started with the fried calamari, it tasted ok but the texture was very soft and I didn't enjoy it. We both got steaks, ordered rare, but mine was medium and a bit dry, I was disappointed. I did enjoy the lobster mac and cheese very much though. While the food wasn't a 4 star experience, the one thing that made the night fantastic was our server, Leon. He was attentive without hovering and made pleasant conversation without being intrusive. He was very sweet, brought me a sample of a pineapple cocktail that I really enjoyed, treated us to clam chowder since I'd mentioned liking clam chowder and for dessert he treated us to a sampling of creme brulee, banana cream pie and chocolate cake for our anniversary. On top of all that, he concluded our dinner with a champagne toast. He really made the night special.

I haven't yelped for awhile but had to after tonight's experience. First let me say that we have been dining here approximately 2 times a year for at least 5 years. It's too expensive, but we go back because it's always been great and as others have said, the service is always top notch. Until tonight.... Tonight we had a waiter that just wasn't like the other wait staff we had known here. He was good enough I guess but not my idea of a polished waiter. All three of us agreed the food was good but nothing like before. The meat was gristly and the twice baked potato was just so-so. The waiter was slow in taking away the plates but then quick with the bill and the doggie bags. My husband's credit card transaction was completed and after he had signed we were still drinking and talking for a few minutes. It didn't take long before we felt like we were being rushed. Mind you, we had arrived at 5:00 because we had my 85 yo father with us and it was now only 6:10. There was no one waiting for a table and there were plenty empty so not sure why we were being rushed. With wine still in our glasses the waiter came over and took the paid bill away. Then the minute one of us finished our wine, he whisked the glass away. We left at 6:15 and on the way out when the manager asked how things were, my husband mentioned the waiter rushing us and coming and taking away the signed bill (a definite no no in our book) while we were still enjoying our wine. The manager said "I've instructed them to" and then some lame explanation of why they do that. I'm sorry but anyone in the fine dining world better rethink that procedure! We won't be going back - too many other great restaurants in Seattle.

I struggle with what to say..... I have found our experiences with the food the last couple times uninspiring. While the food is not bad, I would have to say it lacks luster and flare. Our service had the intent of being good but went to far as to be intrusive where the model for service became the focus instead of our experience. :(

Welcome #11 to my five star review suite. While you aren't the first member of the club, you might be the most memorable. (There's a very legitimate chance this review caps out the 5,000 character limit.) Reviewer disclaimer: I've been very lucky to have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country; The French Laundry, Daniel, Le Bernardin, etc, and I'm hard pressed to remember an experience like the one I had at here. Reviewer disclaimer #2: I LOATHE Darden Restaurants as a whole (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc, but Cap Grille, WOW) Came in for a 8:15 reservation on New Years Eve, and the restaurant was packed. The friendly hostess informed us they were running a little bit behind, and there would be a 10-15 minute wait, but we were more than welcome to grab a chair and a drink in the bar. We were able to locate seating at the bar right away, as the hostess said we would, and ordered our drinks, a Vesper for me, and a Manhattan for my dining companion. Less than five minutes later, another hostess came over to tell us our table was ready, and they'd seat us right away. She said not to worry about our drinks, and they'd have someone bring them over to our table forthwith. We left our cocktails on the bar, and followed said hostess. Got to the table, and our drinks arrived a mere 30 seconds later. I'll take this time to say they were some of the strongest martini's I've ever personally tasted. Expertly crafted, and perfectly balanced, I was able to taste the alcohol without it being overpowering on my palate, just a great starter to the meal. After a few sips of my drink and reviewing the menu, our server, Brian Shafar, came over to introduce himself and see if we had any questions. We did, and he answered all the questions, knowledgeably, professionally, and without delay. I got the impression he KNEW of what he spoke, and wasn't just blowing smoke. We decided on the Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil with 12-year Aged Balsamic salad to start. Let me say straight out, that I don't eat salad. I'm not a fan. Never have been, probably never will be. That said, this was one of the best things I've eaten in recent memory. Everything was so fresh; it tasted like the tomatoes had been pulled straight off a vine in the back of the kitchen. They were incredible. I'd swear on a stack of Bibles, the basil was pulled out of the ground and put on the plate a mere second before Brian brought it over. The mozzarella was creamy, but without being runny, sooo silky smooth. However, the thing that set this salad apart was that 12-year Aged Balsamic. The flavor it brought to the dish tied everything together just perfectly. These ingredients, in some capacity, have been done to death recently, but the execution of this dish coupled with quality of ingredients just sent it over the top. For our entrees, I had the Seared Tenderloin with Butter Poached Lobster, it was EXACTLY what I expected it to be. Delicious! My date ordered the Filet Mignon, which came sitting a top some of the most flavorful Au Jus I've had. Seriously people, I'd bathe in the stuff, if not for the fear I'd cannibalize MYSELF. But this is where things went to next level for me... I reached down for my martini and noticed a foreign object floating in it. How I missed it before, I'm still not sure, but never the less, there it was, staring back at me like my first pimple did. Brian came over to see how the meal was going, I told him about the drink issue. He apologized profusely, said he'd take care of it right away, and headed off so we could finish our meal. He returned a few minutes later with a new glass, and martini (still in the shaker, by the way.) He shook, then decanted the contents into the new glass, the entire time saying how sorry he was. The new drink was identical in every way to first, just flawless. We finished our meal, and drinks, and we waiting for the check to arrive when Brain returned. He didn't come back empty handed either, nope, he came carrying a bottle of champagne. When he set it on the table and wished us a Happy New Year, I was perplexed. He apologized again for the drink mistake, and told us the bottle was on him. I about fell out of my chair. He then informed me the drinks were on him as well. Frankly, I expected my drink to be on the check after they sent over a bottle of champagne for us. Was it? Nope. How about my date's drink? Nope. No charge for EITHER drink. I'm not often at a loss for words, but this was one of those rare occurrences. The kicker though? The GM came over and gave us $100 worth of credit to use on our next meal. They did all this for something as little (literally) as a black something floating my drink. Let me be CRYSTAL clear about one thing; I've never had a better OVERALL experience in any restaurant, at anytime, EVER. It was one of those experiences I'll never forget, and I'll tell anyone that'll listen that Capital Grille deserves their business.

First visit was last week during restaurant week. As the previous reviewer mentioned, I too was a little apprehensive with the stress the week brings. I was blown away by the outstanding service. And the food was top notch (salad, filet mignon and flourless chocolate cake). I've already been telling everyone about my experience. I will continue to recommend as a great Seattle steakhouse.

Had a great dinner here at Capital Grille on a weekday night. There is free valet parking, and we were seated immediately. My actual ranking would be 4 1/2 stars, due to the great service we had (from Austin?). His wine recommendation was great. He was there when we needed him, but wasn't intruding on the conversation. All waiters should be this way. We had the blue cheese salad to start, which went well with the nice bread basket (favorite would be the bread with the onions on it). We then ordered porterhouse and Delmonico steaks, and asparagus and au gratin potatoes for the sides. My porterhouse was good, and the au gratin potatoes almost stole the show. Dinner is a little pricey, but I recommend it as a good alternative to the other steakhouses downtown, especially for the great service. P.S. The bar was packed, but would be a good alternative for happy hour if you don't want to eat in the dining room.

OK, I've waited two months for my blood pressure to drop before writing this. My wife and I made reservations 3 weeks in advance for an intimate dining experience at the Capital Grille. We arrived on time and were ushered past several empty tables to the back of the restaurant next to the noisy kitchen. We had to raise our voices to hear each other over the racket in the kitchen. While the service was excellent and the food was on par, the setting quickly deducted from the experience. And for the price, the value just wasn't there. If you are considering the Capital Grille, do not accept a table in the back. If you do, you will regret it.

Well I was fortunate enough to get a preview meal at the Capital Grille with three friends. I arrived and have never seen so much help in my life. Waitstaff, hostesses, coat checkers, you name it, maybe because it was preview night they were rehearsing?? We were promptly seated and our coats were checked. We received their monster sized menu with an absolutely crazy huge wine list. We were suggested a cocktail by our very nice waiter, which was some kind of pineapple martini that was incredible. The bread basket was delicious with a large selection of breads. We first got starters. The calamari which was highly recommended, was o.k. Kind of greasy. The mozzarella and proscuitto was o.k. as well for what is was, much better than the calamari. I had the black cod for dinner, which I actually thought was pretty bad. It had a mushroom sauce over the top that was sour tasting and other than that the fish had no flavor. Everyone else had steak and said they enjoyed them. We had two sides asparagus with bechamel sauce, which was very uninteresting and the lobster mac and cheese which had huge chunks of lobster. It was good, but not unforgettable. We got two desserts the creme brulee cheesecake with berries, which was really light and tasty and the flourless chocolate cake, which was very chocolately, but not exciting. All in all, I wasn't impressed and would never spend that amount of money to eat there again. Very much a traditional chain steakhouse.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. We had a REALLY bad experience there, which was very disappointing because it's otherwise been really well received and highly rated. Why we were SO unlucky, I don't know. I've had better service just about anywhere, and better food at the Outback for hundreds of dollars less. To start, we arrived a bit early and sat in the bar. It was not busy and there were 3 bartenders, yet we had to wait almost 10 minutes before one of them came over to take our order. Then, as he was mixing the drinks in front of us, he knocked over a glass, breaking it and showering my companion with shards of martini glass. We got a perfunctory apology, almost surly, as if it was our fault the glass broke. The drinks, when we got them, were ok. But just ok. At the table, our overly chatty waiter messed up the drink order, and the chatty part extended into the inappropriate, as he mentioned how he'd puke whenever he drank tequila. Nice to know, but never at dinner at a fancy restaurant. The meal was merely ok. The lamb was so tough I'd call it mutton. The lobster was mushy. The creamed corn wasn't all it was built up to be. The steaks were ok, but didn't make up for the rest of the meal. Considering that the Met has never let me down, either in service or food, and does so for less $ than the CG, I'm going to stay away from CG.

Where's the best steak in Seattle? Ask that question and your carnivore friends may all have a different answer. The new Capital Grille will surely add another name to that discussion. The Capital Grille is a part of a chain, whose parent company also owns the likes of The Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse. This isn't an Olive Garden. It's a well oiled machine with a highly trained wait staff and kitchen turning out some great meals. It offers all one would want in a steakhouse experience, at least on par with the other established national steak houses and I think better than the other downtown local favorite. It has the mandatory bar just to the right of the entrance, a nice ambience that I'd expect to see at a steak place in NYC. It is somewhat localized with paintings of famous Seattle people throughout the restaurant. Again it is well staffed, our waiter was there when we needed him but not hovering when we wanted to socialize. While there was nothing extraordinary on the menu, the food was excellent. The lobster macroni and cheese is a killer side. Nice selection of wines with I guess reasonable prices, many under $50. Yes, The Capital Grille is spendy but no more so than its competitors. I suspect many of the patrons will be business people on expense accounts. I'll surely welcome an invitation to be taken there.

Pretty pricey but pretty good place. My cousin comes here a lot(She has her own wine locker) We came here as a Black Dress night ont he town with family and friends. The steak was pretty ok, I think mine was kind of cold when I finally got it which sucked however it was still REALLY GOOD!! Not as good as John Howie but still pretty tasty. The sides for me seem to be what was AMAZING!! Oh cant forget the Calamri...mmm those were so so so so freakin GOOD!! I would come back here for that alone!! Anyway back to our sides we had Lobster Mac and Cheese, Asparagus, stuffed baked potato, and I think thats it. Everyone got salads my friend didnt like hers, it was good. Leafy greens with the house dressing, I enjoyed it. The selections of wines is CRAZY!! But everything we got was very good!! I would def come back here for dinner! I am actually really looking forward to it ASAP!!

Since we have eaten at other Capital Grille's before our expectations were high. We ate at the downtown Seattle restaurant in the early evening before Thanksgiving without reservations. The restaurant was not busy during the hour we arrived. We were immediately shown to a quiet booth table and served expertly by Daniel. One thing you can consistently say about CG - their servers are some of the best informed, widely experienced that you will find. It didn't hurt that Daniel had been at CG for many years as well. He did a superb job! The menu choices are extensive and the wine selections are abundant. You can find nearly anything you are looking for. The ambience of the restaurant is quiet, dark, even regal. Maybe its the name suggestion but you almost expect to see a group of legislators emerge from a back room any minute. Daniel helped us choose nice glasses of wine after we decided on the superbly prepared grilled salmon dinner. The table breads, crackers, and munchies were excellent and complemented our dinner. We took our time and did not feel rushed. It was quiet and enjoyable and we were able to talk and hear each other easily across the table. We concluded the meal with a recommended dessert that was up to the level of the rest of the meal. CG is an excellent place to eat. It can be expensive but its one of those places where you don't mind paying a little more for a meal and ambience that justifies and deserves the price. For any special occasion dinner CG has to be at or near the top of the list. Thanks Daniel for a great meal. Good luck with your new arrival.
