I classify this place as a hidden gem. Excellent food & cocktails and never a wait. Cozy up to the bar for a friendly chat with the bartendress, or choose a table instead. I rarely stray from their fantastic shareable menu and usually try and talk my dining partner into the brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and the caprese salad. Cocktails are a worthy endeavor here, we particularly like the Lion's Tail. A decent beer & wine selection as well. All in all well rounded neighborhood establishment.

I came here for the first time last week with my family who was visiting from out of town. We came in on Saturday night, about 8pm. I was concerned we would have a long wait but there was a nice table in the corner. The place is a cute neighborhood restaurant: good ambient lighting, a cozy place to catch up with a friend or have drinks with your honey at the bar. Our service was great. She was prompt, friendly, asked if it was our first time here. She selected a nice rose for me by the glass that I loved. Our table ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, the black mission fig salad with fresh green beans, corn and manchego cheese, and clams. Oh, and a side of bread. Everything was delectable but the special salad was my favorite. It also had watermelon radish in it and all the components were wonderful together! All in all, I'm a new fan and am so glad to have found another "go-to" restaurant in North Seattle that isn't in congested central Ballard!

Oh jeez, service was abysmal. Granted I came here around 9:00pm on a Friday night, there was another group of chatty-cathys, the bartender, my friend, and I. The decor was adorable, the solid wood vibe was great, and the layout made sense for waitressing. The drink options were pretty vast, as a whiskey drinker I did enjoy that option but due to the waitress taking... 15 minutes to come back to our side of the bar (mind you there are less than 10 people here) I just ordered a bullit and bourbon, I was quite afraid that if I asked her a question she would answer and walk away... again. My drink was well made, a good amount of whiskey for the $8.00. My friend got something else that looked tasty as well. Service was pretty darn horrible. My friend who lives in the area said she would come back for dinner, or the food, since it looked so great at the other table but we weren't offered any type of food menu (presumably due to it being 9:00pm). The other group was still making orders to go into the kitchen but after we got our drinks the bartender didn't come back to us for about 30 minutes, after both of our waters were dry, just to refill them... no, "can I get you anything else" etc. All in all, I would probably go back earlier in the night with a reservation and an appetite, late night the bar next door looked amazing but I think it's so new that it's not on yelp yet!

I met a friend here for drinks one night. I live three blocks away and had not been here before. We had Manhattans which were a bit pricey but very good. I recommend having them make it a "perfect" instead of the one on the menu but that's my preference. The waitress/hostess was very friendly and quick to serve us. It was a pretty slow night, but I didn't get the impression that service would be different otherwise. The Blue Glass seems like the kind of bar that it would be really easy to be a regular at, providing you have a bit of disposable income. I plan to come back and try some of the food in the near future and will update the review then.

There's a lot to like about this place if you're looking for a hand-crafted cocktail in the area. It's very handsomely turned out, and they're working hard to earn your business. This stretch of 65th is pretty much solid with bars, and each one has a different personality (or maybe theme): Irish pub, craft beer place, fun dive, etc. Blue Glass is the tony cocktail lounge. You walk in past little deck lounges with one row of seating each. They roll up big garage doors to open those spaces to the world--must be a great setting when that happens. Through the door, you're in a tiny vestibule hemmed in by shower curtains or something. Then, the main lounge space. They're working a nicely cool and detached early-60s vibe, with nice vintage light fixtures, cool oversize paintings, faux-zebrawood paneling, tilted mirrors behind the bar, old knob-style stereo equipment--even the Belle and Sebastian on the hi-fi seemed amazingly period-appropriate. The house specializes in cocktails, offering their own recipes as well as their own takes on classics. They keep a decent little beer list and a decent little wine list, too. The beer prices are actually pretty good, and my companions all seemed pretty happy with the cocktail prices (but I have no perspective there). The staff are friendly, and the bartending seems very capable. Much oohing and aahing over the libations from around the table. My beers were absolutely fine. I would come back to this place with a group, but there's a serious beer bar right next door, and those places will always be my own personal first choice.

I will always regret not coming here sooner and trying the adult corn dogs. I can't remember what made them adult so I am never able to adequately describe them to entice others to give this place a try. It is situated on the edge of Phinney Ridge just outside the outskirts of Ballard but this place has the same chic appeal of a true Ballard urban village joint. Parking can be tricky unless you have my uncle's uncanny luck. As usual he found a spot right across the street. The hostess / waitress was awesome and funny. I wish I'd gotten her name so I could compliment her here. We came right at the beginning of HH and it was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon. The lighting and art are perfect and although the wood finishing is pretty dark, the dining room still appears open and uncrowded. There's a sense of intimacy here that would be great for dates or for listening to live music when they have it. We ordered the arancini for an appetizer: three large arancini rather than more smaller ones like they serve at Saltoro up in Greenwood. The marinara lends just the right amount of sweetness to the crisp outer shell and oozy cheese. Uncle had the mahi mahi over rice pilaf which he inhaled. I let my eyes order rather than my stomach so while I loved my pork arepa the mushroom polenta cakes were barely touched. The guacamole sauce on the arepa is just right over perfectly braised pork and the homemade corn tortilla is almost more like crisped polenta. The cakes are good but served cold, were pretty greasy so I wouldn't order them again if I didn't think I could finish them on site. I'll be back for another arepa and to try the pumpkin ravioli!

Amazing, local brunch spot in the West Woodland Neighborhood of Ballard. The staff are friendly, service is good and the food is delicious. Definitely worth the stop over. They serve crepes as their speciality, but have scrambles, too. Coffee is good, too!

Had a burger there recently and it was one of the worst I've had: very tough meat with practically no flavor...I couldn't finish it 'cause it was so hard to chew! Offering a cheap-meat burger like that at this kind of place is a slap in the face to customers. Also, their french fries are a pre-frozen product..another 'slap'...nowadays it's almost a crime to serve pre-frozen french fries in a place like this IMO. These 2 items were the only bad food items I've had there & been there many times. If you stick with the Daily Specials you can count on better quality.

Decided to try out this local little joint and WOW! Was very impressed. The server (Carrie I think?) was super sweet and attentive to us and recommended some GREAT choices! Beer steamer clams, tuna toast and crab pasta. Will def be back for the friendly smiles and tasty foods!

I am going back to edit this review to talk about the dessert. The cheesecake dessert with caramel was not too sweet and definitely homemade! Great customer service, server knew many more words than I did. I had a salad with an egg on it and that was amazing and probably enough of my vitamins for the week! Great drinks and Happy Hour! I don't give 5 stars unless everything is perfect and the noise level is quite high but that might just be me getting old!

We were in the 'hood, and I did a yelp search and this place popped up - a genuine find in this neck of the woods. Quality food - albeit it in bar-type atmosphere - the menu is fairly varied - and truly American. Mixed non-alcoholic drinks were great. Service was very timely. Check it out if you are in the area - definitely worth it.

The food here is so fresh, artfully prepared, and delicious, and the cocktails so delightful, that one would expect the super cool staff to have an attitude. They don't. They are always totally friendly and helpful. The decor is simple but elegant, warm, and inviting. And if you're willing to walk just one block, there is always plenty of parking on 8th avenue around the corner. This place is a jewel in the strip of dive bars on 65th.

Brought to you by the owners of the Tractor Tavern: It's the best food in stumble town albeit a bit weird and pricey. Their burger is awesome, but if you are craving a burger go to Olaf's on 24th or Dicks on Holman. Half the price. If you are in stumble town and you want your self better food than the other bars, this is the best food on the 65th st strip. Their cocktails are better than anyone else's on the stumble strip but you will pay for it. Definitely the class of the joint. The brunch is good, the open air seating on our God-given, bliss filled beautiful sunny days is baller. Do it.

Everything we ate was wonderful! My favorite small plate was the tomatoe & mozzarella, the carmelized bacon was great-the dipping sauce made the plate, the lamb burger & fries were extremely good as well. Great ambiance & whiskey ice cream was sizable (4 of us shared) & unique. Would love to come back next time we're in town.

We went there for happy hour. In Sundays it is from open to close, which I haven't see anywhere else. The atmosphere was very nice. I had grilled cauliflower, which was very chewy in the middle (so it will be not my favorite) but my sister has habanero potatoes, which were sooo goood. The service was very good.

There are those little places that when you walk in, you know you will be back. Blue Glass is exactly one of these for a plethora of reasons. Excellent service from kind-hearted staff, delicious assortment of beverages (bubbles!), perfect décor & ambiance for a drink & dinner and their burgers & fries are amazing. So happy to have been introduced by a friend and look forward to going back (truth. I'll be there in 2 days). Thanks for being fantastic!

Yummiest Lamb Burger in town - so deliciously seasoned and served on a nicely toasted fresh artisan baked roll! The Grilled Caesar Salad was fabulous, too. Great service (so thoroughly attentive and accommodating), no pretense and a spotlessly clean very comfortable environment. The Arugula Salad with the pickled fennel was a big hit with my partner. I was also drooling over the plates on neighboring tables, especially the steak and the scallops. What a nice menu with such a variety of selections in both large and small plates. The dessert options looked inviting, but we were so well sated after such generous salads and excellent entrees. I am so glad I only live a few blocks away from The Blue Glass!

This place is the perfect date spot - or just an unwind-from-the-day spot. Their small plates are on point, the service is excellent and the drinks are well made. It can get pretty spendy, but it's my absolute favorite for a special treat. A++

I remember going years ago and not being impressed, but I gave it another go recently and loved it. We had great service at the bar, including good recommendations. It was a Tuesday night so that was probably helpful as far as good service goes. I wasn't terribly hungry so I just enjoyed two small plates. We shared the rissoto balls, which are innately good if you like cheese and marinara sauce. And then I, the vegetarian, enjoyed the roasted cauliflower. The bartender immediately went off to get me more sauce without any prompting on my part. It was useful how well she knew the food.

Our first time here and we will definitely be back! Hit happy hour just before it expired so ordered goat cheese, olives, pickled vegetables, and pickled egg. Loved it all. Amazing margarita on the happy hour menu as well. Then, the table shared muscles with chorizo, corn cakes with pork, beef skewers, roasted cauliflower, caprese salad, and risotto balls. Everything was top notch. Yes, it's next door to the laundry mat and somewhat across the street from the Goodwill. Who cares?!? I almost don't want to give just a glowing review because I want to keep this one to myself. So good!

After reading about this place in Seattle Weekly's Voracious, I knew I had to try it, just to see if it lived up to their claim: "brunch brims with class". The atmosphere was clean and open on a sunny weekend morning and the menu descriptions didn't disappoint - we were pretty much drooling over every item: "Chicken Fried Pork Cutlet: thyme biscuit, sausage sage gravy... Grilled French Bread: semi-sweet chocolate ganache, toasted almonds" ... I went with the Eggs Benedict #1 - with pulled pork and caramelized sweet onion -- holy yum! The hollandaise was creamy, thick and delicious, and the pork & onion flavors blended well together. Tough to enjoy it, though, as it was already cold when it arrived at the table. The potatoes that came with it looked perfectly browned and crispy, but ended up being cold and soggy, as if they'd been sitting out for a while. My sister got the French toast, which comes topped with strawberries, maple syrup, and whipped maple bourbon goat cheese - also cold. If it had been served hot, I can see it being an amazing combination of flavors. I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt and chalking it up to being busy - it looked like only one server was working. I'll definitely give this place another shot if only for their amazing sounding menu & how delicious my meal looked. The verdict? Atmosphere: bright, clean & open Menu: insightfully takes breakfast classics up a level Presentation: simple & delicious Classy? Absolutely.

Awesome food, great mixed drinks and a wonderful staff. What more can you ask for?. I had the Penn Cove Mussels w/a Caprese Salad and my wife had the veggie burger and a vesper martini. Everything was spot on. If I come here a few more times and it's still this good I'll bump my review up to 5 stars. Cheers!

I was excited to try brunch here - impressed with the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Service was super slow and the wait for food even longer - and the food tasted decent - but was disappointed with the service. Maybe I should give it another try.

This is a fun place to eat and drink. It is in a quiet commercial/residential area in NE Ballard. We met a couple of friends for dinner and a drink here; it was a good selection for the evening. They have a great selection of classic and new craft cocktails, a lot of them with bourbon. We sampled are way through the drink menu. All the drink were excellent and well made, but my favorite was the Old Fashion. The bar tender made it perfectly, good bourbon taste and not too sweet. The menu is a little scattered; little country cooking here, some Asian fusion there. They had a special board, but it was out of view for our table and our server did not mention any of the specials until I asked. They have a Poutine made with chicken gravy on the happy hour menu. My wife is not a red meat person and has never had the Pou. While this Pou is not nearly as good as those made with oxtail or short rib, it was a good substitute. We got a couple orders of the brussel sprouts. They were perfectly cooked; bit char on the leaves. They were a good combo of the earthy-nutty flavor of the sprout combined with heat and sweet. The crab hush puppies were a disappointment. I could not find any crab flavor or texture; it was just fried corn bread to me. The house made corn dog was delicious. I was told they made the sausage in house. If this is true, it is one of the best house made sausages I have had in the area. The "tater tots" were more like fried mash potato nuggets with a crispy exterior and creamy, bacon filled interior. They were pretty damn good. We had some quinoa coated chicken strips. I found them a little bland, but everyone at the table seemed to like them.

Strong martinis, good happy hour prices. Happy hour goes until 7, which is longer than a lot of places. Tried the brussel sprouts and friend had the rabbit taquitos. Both were delicious, and very good serving sizes. Service is friendly and competent. Love the look in here, and glad to see it was bustling with people on a Saturday during happy hour.

Bartender made me a wonderfully spicy bloody mary. We had the baked goat cheese, which was tasty. Interesting brussel sprouts with sweet and sour sauce too. I ordered the corned beef stew served with corn bread. Corned beef stew was not my favorite. It tasted like it was an afterthought to throw some corned beef in a soup that wasn't really focused on corned beef. Maybe it was left over from St. Patrick's Day?

We stumbled in around 5:45, just in time to catch the end of Happy Hour - Tostones, Pulled Pork Tacos and Margaritas were DELISH - we also had the prawns with the mango salsa - (while tasty, it was small, not the best for splitting). For dinner we shared the arugula, feta salad with pickled fennel....(YAY!) and the gnocchi with shrimp and asparagus....(Double YAY!) -- overall the menu was inspiring, the food was perfectly prepared, and the service was nothing to complain about. We look forward to our next visit!

Salted Caramel Cheesecake. Now that I have your attention... Went to Blue Glass for Dining Out night and had a lovely meal. Staff were friendly and I'm very impressed with how the kitchen tries to make everything in-house. I started with the Pork Belly in a Blueberry BBQ Sauce while The Wife had Crab Hush Puppies. The pork was a good size portion but I thought if should have been a bit more tender than it was. The BBQ sauce was delish! Hush puppies carried a good aroma of crab but could have been pulled out of the fryer 30 seconds sooner. We shared an order of the Roasted Brussels Sprouts which are tossed with a honey and sriracha mixture that works really well (and I'm stealing the idea). Mussels were next and my order was a pretty healthy size of the mollusks steamed in a wine, butter and tarragon broth with a couple of slices of Tall Grass bread smeared with a bright yellow aioli. They were perfectly steamed and tender. OK, now comes the cheesecake. A very large portion of a NY style cheesecake sitting on an amazing caramel sauce and sprinkled with a Merlot infused sea salt! I kid you not! I can't guarantee that the cheesecake will be on the menu when you go but I'm sure you will find plenty of good food and drink to satisfy your hunger. A great neighborhood place.

This place has good food and nice atmosphere. I am sad to report, however, that their excellent Sunday brunch is no more. Don't be fooled by the "BRUNCH" sign etched into the window. The biscuits and gravy here were the best in town, in my estimation. A thyme biscuit covered in sausage gravy with a chicken fried pork cutlet on top. So good. R.I.P.

The environment is cozy and fun at the same time. Like it. And the food was also great. Definitely recommend the burger with poblano peppers and the mac & cheese, which was not the typical m&c. It was lighter and less creamier but yet, super tasty! Will be back.

The Blue Glass has the best food in Seattle as far as I'm concerned -- delicious salads and their soup of the day is always tops. I'm never disappointed. The cocktails are also very nice. The ambiance is fine although less hip than at some establishments -- I've found the lighting a little dark. The service is great.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner here with my family earlier this month. Can't say enough about the food and service. We were a party of eight and service was friendly and smooth. All of our plates were completely empty when they cleared our dishes. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Looking forward to going back for drinks and apps. Thank you for bday desserts!

I've only been here once, but it was really good. Spoke with the owner about the restaurant/bar. Tried some samples of the wine on tap (I know this sounds dingy, but trust me, wine on tap is cheaper, and tastes great! It's packaged under nitrogen, so no oxygen, and thus no spoilage) Try the red and white.

The boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere new to go to brunch. Based on the yelp reviews, we decided to check this place out. Meh. I had scrambled eggs, cheese grits and a biscuit. I ordered a side of the sausage gravy. Yes, I had nothing to do after brunch. Anyway. My brunch companion ordered the omelet with bacon, cheese and tomato and the potatoes. The cheese grits were alright...eggs...overcooked and cold. In fact, all my food was lukewarm at best. The sausage gravy...can you say bland? No. Say it with me....blaaaaaaand. It was like it was made with hamburger. The omelet my bf had sat in a pool of grease. Like maybe draining the bacon before you put it in the omelet was a foreign concept. The potatoes were brown but soggy. Drinks? Of course! It's Sunday brunch for gods sake! A bloody and a mimosa - both weak. And his bloody mary tasted like it was made with V8. Too much V8. Service. Well, the drinks took awhile, even though there were only a few other people there...but whatever. But after the server brought our food the bartender called across the bar, "Everything alright?" and then servers were never seen or heard from again. It was like we were eating in fucking Antarctica. We had to track the waitress down to get our check after we'd been done eating for a half an hour. Maybe dinner is better. Or maybe I've just grown accustomed to drinks that actually have alcohol in them. Or food that has flavor or seasoning.

Mmm, I'm still thinking about the fried brussel sprouts I had last night. I had a few excellent small plates that I will surely want again soon. I met up with a girlfriend for a drink and a bite but I kept thinking what a great date place the Blue Glass would be. Nice, but casual. Good and friendly service. Away from the hustle of popular Market Street haunts.

I tried: "French Toast: berries, maple syrup, whipped maple bourbon goat cheese. $9. Egg: $2. Coffee: $2." Cute place with modern interior design. Friendly staff. I asked for the egg "over medium" and it was over easy. That wouldn't have been a big issue except that instead of being served on a separate plate it was piled on top of the french toast, so poking it with the fork resulted in tabasco and egg squelching all over the toast. The food was good, but not memorable. I'd go back if I happened to be in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

We absolutely love the Blue Glass. We love it so much that we went straight there for dinner after our backyard wedding. The staff is attentive and friendly without hovering too much. Our favorite appetizer is the Arancini (risotto) balls, served with the best marinara sauce we've ever had. My wife loved the marinara so much that the cook gave us the recipe! We tried the scallops and risotto as our main course- the special of the evening. The seafood was seared perfectly and placed atop a bed of creamy risotto dotted with chunks of garlic. Delicious. We also shared the caramelized bacon, which is like a party in your mouth y'all. Perfectly caramelized, thick slabs of bacon, just the tiniest bit burnt, served with a creamed goat cheese dip and tart green apple slices. Your taste buds just died and went to heaven, right? The staff gifted us with a slice of salted caramel cheesecake as a wedding gift before we left. We had such a lovely experience, and we can't wait to treat ourselves to another dinner here again.

My husband and I checked this place out last night and were really happy with our choice. Good ambience. A little more bar than restaurant-like. There was a TV, which is usually a turn off for me, but it was on very quietly or maybe muted. Our wait person was super friendly (I wish I knew her name, she was quite excellent). The food was delicious. Don't go here expecting mind-blowing innovation, but the arugula salad was perfectly dressed, the fries crispy and hot, the quinoa/lentil chicken fingers and dip wonderful (especially if you're gluten free and haven't been able to enjoy a good chicken finger in a while). We sat on the patio, which has two-tops only. Don't expect to fit more than two people at one of the tables. The Blue Glass is situated on an unremarkable strip of 65th near Slave to the Needle and The Dray, so not a whole lot to look at, but all we wanted to do was gaze into each other's eyes anyway. Isn't that what everyone who's been married 11 years wants to do on a date? Right. Anyway. It was still nice to sit outside. This is a great hang out that is reasonably priced with solid food and a nice waitstaff. We'll be back for sure.

Why do restaurants consistently over-cook medium rare steaks? I guess I could second-guess them and ask them for rare or blue-rare, but what if they actually got my order right and sent me something I didn't want either? Do they assume they know better or is it just the kitchen is busy and not paying close attention to everybody's meal? Anyways that's enough rambling, I went here because The Blue Glass was on the list for dine out for life and their menu looked really interesting. I had the steak and she had the rabbit ravioli special. Both dishes were so-so, the wine was just OK, although the fries were really good. Maybe it didn't help that the place was packed and the table next to me had regulars that were super boisterous and totally up in my business the whole meal. Also I sent the steak back and I hate sending food back, but to their credit the waitress was very thoughtful and the steak was done just right the second time. I'll give the place a second try, but I'm not in a big rush to come back.

Three times I've visited this place now. Once with my girlfriend, once with a small group and once at the bar. All three were very quality visits. The first with my lady who was also very impressed, just got apps and a beer. Great! The second time We came and got apps with a couple entrees to share! The pasta was amazing and the leftovers were great cold the next day. And the last time was a just a solo stop-in after work, at the bar. Again the food was really, really good. And the deserts look fun as well. Service was nice, attentive and experienced. And not sure why I am not giving them a 5 yet.

I found The Blue Glass via Yelp by searching "patio dining" in a few Seattle neighborhoods. The reviews that were already written were great, so I was optimistic heading to the restaurant. We had called in advance to ensure that the patio was open, and on the phone I was told that the patio only had "two-top" tables, but that we could probably get three seated. Arriving at the restaurant it became clear that we would not actually fit three on the patio, however, the front wall of the restaurant is essentially open air. We sat at a great table directly NEXT to the patio, and it was essentially the same as being outside. When menus arrived I got excited immediately. The drink menu began with a list of whiskey cocktails which all looked delicious. They also had a reasonable beer selection. I started with a Georgetown Porter mostly because I couldn't make my mind up on a cocktail. My friend ordered a gin/cucumber cocktail. When the waitress asked about the gin drink, my friend said it "wasn't her favorite" - but she certainly wasn't complaining. The drink was well made, just not quite the flavor profile she had hoped for. The waitress ended up comping the drink - and this exemplified the service we got while we were at the restaurant. For food the three of us decided to split 3 small plates and one large plate. Clearly looking for healthy options we ordered the adult corn dog, pork belly bites, veggie rolls, and mac & cheese. The Mac & Cheese was actually penne pasta, and although I didn't taste it, appeared to be "over-sauced" - however if I imagine that is a huge plus for some people. The adult corn dog was pretty incredible, and it came with bacon tater tots. The tater tots actually tasted like deep fried mashed potatoes and were really great. The pork belly was fried as well, and was a beautiful bite of fatty pork. The veggie rolls were also good, with a great kick of spice. After we'd eaten a bit, I ordered a bourbon cocktail called "The Old Testament." I was told that the bartender working that night was also the creator of the drink. It was a beautiful drink: bourbon, lemon and orange peel, and two kinds of bitters. Very refreshing, you could really taste each ingredient, and the bourbon flavor was very present. The ladies ordered the salted caramel cheesecake for dessert, which you will see has gotten a lot of attention in several reviews. Overall, this place gets a HUGE thumbs up. The decoration and overall vibe was just what I was looking for and made for a great night out. Another bonus was that it is located on a nice stretch of 65th with several other bars and restaurants. There was tons of free parking in the surrounding neighborhoods, which is another huge bonus. I plan to return to The Blue Glass soon and I strongly recommend it.

This place serves local brew. I had the Two Beers SoDo Brown Ale and it was quite decent. My friend ordered the duck and oxtail ravioli. I tried it and thought it was just ok. After having tasted ravioli at Latium in London; the skin of the ravioli here was a bit thick and the broth does not seem to compliment the raviolis all that well. I ordered the prawns with quinoa salad and balsamic reduction. The combination was delightful. For dessert,we went for the salted caramel cheesecake which was decent. No complaints here, a nice place to chill and hang.

Wasn't expecting that you could have a different take on a caprese salad, but they surprised and delighted us. This was the highlight for us, but the caramelized bacon with apple slices and whipped goat cheese was equally memorable. Service was the best part, all in a cozy setting.

A few friends that lived in Ballard have been here and told me it was good. I was looking for a new close by brunch spot and this fit the bill. I had the chicken fried pork it was a very nice size portion for 9 dollars ( 11 with 1 egg or 12 with two eggs). I opted to get a poched egg with my chicken fried pork and the gravy for the biscuit on the side. I was pretty impressed when my order came out ( it was missing it's egg though) but also thought it was strange that my friend's brunch didn't come out with mine. After flagging someone down and asking where my egg was and my friends food they both came out. Brunch took quite awhile to get and it was around 1pm and they weren't that busy. Other than the service being slow and slighlty off my food was amazing. The pork was juicy, the thyme biscuit was flakey and delicious and the gravy was awesome. As far as biscuits and gravy go this might be my new favorite in the city. Sorry Serious Biscuit aka Daliah Workshop. Blue Glass has you beat! I'll be back again but next time I'm sharing the chicken fried pork with biscuits and gravy its seriously to big for me.

Why has it taken me so long to try this place? I guess I thought it was only a brunch joint for some reason - and from the reviewer who said brunch is no longer, that's true, however, I did ask and the bartender said they do 'early lunch' on weekends to accommodate. I haven't seen a menu for that so no idea if it's brunchy. ;) Fiancé and I went last night needing something casual but more than dive bar food. Right away we loved the decor - really thoughtful I think for a small place, we loved the bar tho the bartender told us that was from the previous owners. Some type of bamboo. It's gorgeous. And the bartender and everyone there were super friendly, chatty, helpful when picking selections or drinks and happy to recommend things. We had the brussel sprouts, the arepas, the carmelized bacon and the duck and pancetta pasta dish. They were all good, but my favorite was the bacon - holy crap - amazeballs. And the man liked the pasta. I thought the red sauce could've been a tiny bit richer in density, but that's being really picky. Everything was flavorful and fast - and then I had the salted caramel cheesecake. The man was full and doesn't like cheesecake anyway so I had the whole thing to myself. Divine. This is my new favorite neighborhood place even tho we live in Fremont. Feels like the perfect neighborhood bar I'd been dreaming of - casual enough just to hang out for drinks and if you're actually in need of dinner, it's a lot more than bar food. I'd even bring my friends who are gluten-intolerant. I think there's something for everyone on the menu. We'll be back often.

Charming little neighborhood restaurant and might be best described as Ballards version of Quinns. . Visited on a wednesday night so it wasn't too busy. Menu is somewhat limiting and needs some reworkng to more gastropub fare. Enjoyed the Char Grilled Coulotte Steak, the garlic mashed could use alittle more flavoring and the chard that accompanied was less than exciting. Fried green tomotoes we so-so. Would love to see this place succeed, as Service was great and food was ok they just need to increase the energy and focus on concept.

I've been there but a couple of times and it's been wonderful. It's, to me, one of those places where you're bored and out with your wife/girl friend and just want to find a place that isn't Denny's or Cucina! Cucina! or some dark place with a band that you feel obligated to listen to. This is a great neighborhood pub - and I say this after experiencing the true "pubs" in England . If you must watch the game on TV I think there is a TV in there somewhere... Otherwise go to your favorite sports bar. There are a lot to choose from. If you just want a sort of eclectic bar with no threatening neighborhood. This is it. It's still fairly new and I look forward to it growing beyond the neighborhood pub it's long been. It's a fun place. I like it. The bartenders, Nathan and Mike are among the best in town. Just don't ask them about Italian motorcycles. You'll get your cocktail but they may not otherwise leave you alone. Great place. albeit small, given their growing clientele. I just don't get there often enough. Since my last review and visit to the Blue Glass I can say it's getting better and better. The food is worth of a 4-star restaurant. This is becoming my favorite place.

Neighborhood bar. Played soul all night. Quiet & cute. Surprisingly innovative menu of recognizable favorites: we ordered crab hush puppies with orange-fennel aioli, shoestring fries with house tomato jam, char-grilled cauliflower with parmesan and gremolata (i don't even know what that is, but it was delicious), and fried brussels sprouts with sriracha & honey, which stole my heart. Loved the whole experience: cute waitress, funny bartender, conversations with locals, and i repeat: great soul music the whole time. Exceeded my expectations.

So far I had the salad with arugula, goat cheese, pickled fennel (yum) and preserved lemon dressing, and got it with a perfectly cooked chicken breast on top. On a late Monday night. Delicious and fresh! Nice atmosphere, wood paneling. Friendly bartender. Decent music - I worried it would be banjos and fiddles. I'm a convert; next the pork sandwich.

We went back again twice over the past month and I was really impressed with the quality of the food. Yeah, I agree with whoever said the staff is a little slow, or attitudish but.. seriously the food and always excellent choice of music, made up for it. I would definitely hedge bets by going there when it's not packed full. We recently went to brunch early (10:30 on sunday) and it worked out great. The sunday brunch chicken fried pork cutlet was juicy, crunchy and the sausage gravy has real flavor (I hate bland gravy). Excellent! Loved the grits, not like any grits I have had before. The portions fit the price. And good bloody mary's come with a serving of veggies. The salads are also simple but delicious, especially the arugula salad with pickled fennel and goat cheese. In an area where it is easy to overpay for mediocre food this place is better.

Been here a few times since they opened, and they just keep getting better. Dinner the first time was fine, drinks have been good, this review is for Saturday brunch. If you read any of my other breakfast reviews, you will find that I love eggs benedict and that I am VERY particular about it. So, of course I had one of the two interpretations of the bene available. Also, please note, that I am primarily a fan of CLASSIC eggs benedict, with the only interpretive exception being crab benedict. However, I really enjoyed this interpretation which used pulled pork in place of ham. Perhaps it was because the pork wasn't overwhelming and it was easy to eat, or, more than likely, it was because the rest of the dish was perfectly executed - not like it's easy to screw up a poached egg, or even hollandaise for that matter, but SO MANY places do - and so the pork totally worked. Also of note was the CARMELIZED BACON. Yes, that's right. As if having the bright idea to carmelize bacon wasn't enough, they serve it with a MAPLE BOURBON GOAT CHEESE. Seriously? OMG. This is another one of those things that could sound so right, yet turn out so wrong, but in this case, it was like a dream come true. I will admit, that the goat cheese wasn't really what I expected (although the bacon was) but then again, how could I have an expectation? I'd never heard of any such thing, and it sounded amazing. The addition of thinly sliced Granny Smith apple really complemented the whole thing. A perfectly sized portion of yummy potatoes and a delicious bloody mary, complete with a broad band of salt around the rim of the glass rounded out a very satisfactory morning meal that day.

Went in for the first time last night. Place looks great and is comfortable. The bartender was very personable, engaging, attentive, and made a good drink. All you could hope for in a bartender. The other man waiting the tables seemed to be a good waiter but he would continually step nehind the bar and make ucomments or make fun of his customers. That is just poor form and leaves you with a bad feeling about a place or wondering what will be said about you. No one wants to feel that way. Food was very good! I ordered the mac n cheese. Like I said, it was good but in no way was it mac n cheese. So if you are in the mood for a good mild cheese pasta than by all means, order it.

Got some brussel sprouts that tasted like general tso's chicken which were GREAT, as well as some good empanada type deals and some fried risotto balls in marinara. Prices and service were both reasonable. Only complaint is that the menu is a little all over the place but I'll still be back I'm sure. Good spot for a date. Minus one point for playing Tom Petty.

We've been to the Blue Glass 3 times now and every time we go, we are impressed by the service. On several occasions, they went out of their way to help put together tables for a larger group with little or no notice. The waitstaff is really friendly and courteous. The food is really pretty good, although I would like to see a more varied menu. The wine list is great and there is a full bar as well. Overall, this place feels like a sweet, sophisticated-yet-comfortable neighborhood restaurant. I'm glad to see the place doing well.

East Ballard on NW 65th is the new Ballard Ave. Finally a fantastic place to eat that is really really close to my place. Venue-wize, i liked the layout of the bar and tables. The sound was echoing and a little too loud, but that can change with more stuff of the walls and windows to absorb the sound. We stopped in here on opening night, and it was obviously very busy, but we found a place at the extra long bar to order our drinks. The nice lady that looked to be the manager took our drink order and shortly after notified us that a table was available - which was nice, since we asked for one when we walked in. I ordered a local Maritime Pacific Jolly Roger Christmas Ale that was on tap, while a glass of malbec and a gin martini were ordered by the rest of my party. The Jolly on tap was fantastic. They also had some Boundary Bay and other fine ales available. The menu consists of small plates, salads, and big plates - with most of it being a southern food theme. We ordered the fried chicken, hush puppies and some bread to start. The fried chicken was excellent, and the breaded tasted amazing compared to other chicken I've had. The hush puppies were also delectable and fried just perfectly. For an entree, I just had the Niçoise salad which had a great vinaigrette, and slightly seared tuna. All in all, the dining was excellent, and i look forward to walking down there many more times in the future. Catch the King County Metro #28 to get dropped off right next to The Blue Glass.

Eat Brunch Here. The food is excellent. I enjoyed my Eggs Benedict thoroughly. I have never eaten a benedict with pork shoulder and I must say, I currently can't imagine eating a benedict WITHOUT it! What makes the experience even grander for me personally, is the fact that they serve cheese grits! Holy smokes! White cheddar cheese grits make every breakfast THAT MUCH MORE REWARDING! Definitely check The Blue Glass out. Delicious.

Pricey food that's not filling-$2 for an egg? The happy hour menu had expensive food and I didn't like the service. Rude about looking at my ID and not very attentive. Sat waiting for them to check said ID for a while and felt ignored by that point. Didn't feel the place had a very friendly atmosphere. I didn't get food here-just drinks and was not impressed with the place. Would not go back any time soon.

Dropped into the Blue Glass over the weekend to have a few drinks with a couple old friends and do a little post-holidays catching up, and it was kind of like stepping into a bizarro version of Tiger Tail. Which I suppose it kind of is. Essentially, it's Tiger Tail without the Asian theme and new paint. The relatively muted colors and low, blue tinted lights give it a more laid back feel, and the tables are laid out to allow enough room between them to not feel like you're having to share yours, but not at the expense of wasted floor space. The crowd was generally of that mid-30s I-don't-need-a-scene set, with a mix of casually attired neighborhoodies. We just had a few beers and an order of the crab hush puppies, so I can't say much about the menu other than they have a modest selection of local and regional beers, and an apparently well rounded wine selection. In addition to smaller snacky plates like the hush puppies, they also have what appear to be some nice, substantial plates including steak, pork shank, and cod fillet. The service was exceptional - prompt, friendly, and not overly attentive. If there is any one thing that tempered my visit it was the noise. It really needs some attention to the acoustics because it's not that big of a place and I couldn't even tell if there was music playing because of the din. We were sitting across a small table from each other and kept having to repeat ourselves even though it felt like we were already talking louder than necessary. Hopefully I'll have a chance to visit again sooner than later for brunch, or to try the entrees, and either way it's great to have Blue Glass in our little Ballard-within-Ballard on 65th keeping the neighborhood interesting.

I'm giving this place 5 stars for...everything :) Atmosphere has a great balance of good music but down at a decent noise level. Has great artwork on the wall (They actually have a book of the artists other work behind the bar that the bearded bartender let me look through). As for food, I shared a hamburger and fries with my boyfriend. It was a large enough portion that we were both full after sharing and very good. The bartender was jolly and bearded. I forgot his name, unfortunately. He was very sweet, never annoyed with more ordering, helpful in his opinions and knowledge of the menu, and even though I don't expect this from bartenders, he was very conversational. And most importantly, he mixes the best dirty olive vodka martinis. Just enough vermouth for flavor but not too salty. This place is one of my new favorites.

Came here on a whim for brunch on a Saturday afternoon, and so happy we did! Moseyed on in around 2 PM and luckily they were still serving brunch. We were the only patrons and got the full attention of Mark - love Mark, great guy. Our cocktails were delicious; fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juices can't be beat! The food was excellent and everyone was very satisfied with the meal. Plates were almost licked clean. Benedict #2, Veggie Burger, Monte Cristo, and French Toast was what we had, and it was all very tasty.

  • James S.

Not too impressed here. Both bartenders were kind of aloof and seemed to be having constant side conversations with each other at low volumes, murmuring and laughing. We found this to be obnoxious. The food was alright, but nothing special. Standrard Seattle pseudo-fancy new bar food, but nothing really stood out. And while this place is an improvement overTigerTail, they didn't change the terrible bar setup. You still have your back to everyone who walks in - drinking at the bar here feels like youve been assigned to "face the corner". Decent cocktails, but this place doesn't live up to the recent standard of new bar openings in Ballard that offer something with real character ( e.g. The Noble Fir, The Leary Traveller, Harlow, etc.)

I think that in the end, The Blue Glass delivered a great experience for a pretty reasonable cost ($30 for soup, sandwich and two beers). It's a nice little neighborhood restaurant that served good food. Food that was simple, but taken up a notch from what you would expect from a neighborhood watering hole. Food good enough that I fully intend on going back and taking the Food Girl with me. I also think it's exactly the type of place to take our parents when in town to get quality food in a nice laid back atmosphere. And it really brings that stretch of 65th up another notch. Brunch was a 10/10 serving up breakfast that truly hit the spot (wonderful hollandaise sauce, perfectly poached egg) and food for thought (intriguing conversation/debate with our waiter)! Do I have to say more?

I like that they retained a lot of the same ambiance that was present at the previous bar. It was very comfortable overall. All of the staff was very pleasant. Good drink selection. In fact, they had wine on tap... and it was a great one. And the food was tasty! We only ordered the crab hush puppies, and the cheesecake (really, do you need anything else?) but I plan to try more in the future!

Great atmosphere... Excellent food. Good fries. Fun place for a double date. Reasonably priced. We went on a double date with friends and this place was great. The food was very good and I can not complain about the prices. I plan on returning to this place for another go ahead.

Burgers etc available, but be more adventuresome and try one of the specials. This is some of the most creative pairings of foods I have ever seen. If you live in Ballard--lucky you. If you don't--drive over there.

There's a lot of promise at Blue Glass. The decor and ambiance is simultaneously modern and retro. It's a bit sleek while having a bit of mid-century charm. The menu reads well - small plates to be shared mixed with comfort food. The salads were pleasing to the eye and well executed. The fries were delicious, but the "tomato jam" on the side was more like sweet salsa than jam. My clams with Asian flavors were overpowered by heat (and I like spice!). I couldn't taste the clams anymore. The lemongrass was also overwhelming and little bits of it made the broth undrinkable as the fibrous chunks needed to be spit out. Note to chef - use less chili and ease up on the lemongrass. Leave the lemongrass in larger pieces so I can drink the broth.

After an initially good first impression from a late night drink here some time back, the girl and I decided to stop by here last week for an afternoon drink on a rare sunny day. More than anything, we liked the idea of being able to sit outside and soak up a few rays while we partook of the days libations. We were initially greeted by a woman who introduced herself as the owner. She seemed nice and very friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't see her again after that. I really wish she'd stuck around, because if she is someone who cares about the experience her customers have while they are in her restaurant, she'd probably have wanted to know about what happened after she left... I really wanted to like the Blue Glass - I really honestly did. Unfortunately, I'm afraid the staff here commenced an epic fail when we were there that day. What was this fail of which I type? How about finding a BUG IN YOUR GIRLS' DRINK? Yup, I think it may have even been a small cockroach. (for clarification: we're not talking about a bug flying around outside that may have landed in the drink. We're talking about a bug that was already in the glass when the drink was made.) I didn't make a scene about it - just brought it up to the bar and told the bartender about it and showed him the bug floating around in the *bottom* of the glass. His response: "oh yeah. sorry dude. that happens sometimes when we leave all of the doors and windows open on these warm days." ??????WTF??????? Seriously dude? Even if that DOES happen, don't tell your customers about it! That really says a lot about your standards for cleanliness there at the Blue Glass. And what's more, it's just fricking disgusting. Anyway, he does make us another drink - this time sans bug. I was willing to try and overlook the whole scene, including the bartenders dismissive and aloof attitude about the whole thing and try to give them the benefit of the doubt. That is, until we got the bill. And saw that they actually charged us for the drink in question. Um dude... I'm no expert here.... but when one of your customers finds a bug in something that you serve them... you take it off the bill, plain and simple. This to me just demonstrated a disregard for your customer's experience and just a general lack of simple courtesy. Nonetheless, I paid the bill and tipped our server (he was nice. And the tacos we had were decent). Though I seriously doubt we'll be back to the Blue Glass. Anyplace that serves BUGS in their glasses (blue or otherwise) is not a place I want to eat or drink at. I can only imagine where ELSE the bugs show up when "they leave all of the doors and windows open" on the occasional warm Seattle day. Sorry Blue Glass. I wanted to like you - I really did. Fail.

We were surprised when we actually liked the food here because we thought it would be ordinary pub food. It was surprisingly good overall, the drinks were reasonably priced, and we had really good service. I had the burger, which was tasty and just the right size, had flavor and a bit of heat to it. I hate places that give you a burger that's the size of your head with no flavor at all. Other table food was a salmon dish that was also tasty. My boyfriend got the gnocchi, and while the sauce and flavors were delicious, the gnocchi itself was mushy. Don't get the gnocchi. In fact, they should take it off the menu until it can be perfected...which is really tough to do. We also tried a mushroom flatbread that was really outstanding. I'd go back there again if in the area. It's worth another meal.

Wow, we had such an amazing meal here recently. My husband and I decided last minute to take advantage of free babysitting from my sister who was in town and go out to dinner on a Saturday night. We chose the Blue Glass because it was close by and got good reviews. We had the fried brussel sprouts with honey and siracha, the duck confit salad with goat cheese and fried egg, and beef shoulder with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Every single thing was wonderful, nothing was less than perfectly cooked and delicious. We will be back again very soon, this is easily one of the best meals we have had in Seattle!

  • Karman T.

Put a 5 star because I think they are more of a 4 star place than 3 and a half. We went pretty late for happy hour and the burger was the perfect size and the fries exceptional. The brussel sprouts were good too, from a guy who doesn't really like brussel sprouts. Don't know how their non-happy hour menu is though.

Great spot! Neighborhood feel with personable & friendly waitstaff. I didn't get a chance to eat but look forward to going back- it had a nice variety from salads to roasted chicken. Well-decorated inside, with a simple yet clean finish. Dimly lit yet not grungy. Cheers to The Blue Glass- I'll be back to toast you again.

This is the kind of place I'd like to have around the corner from me in my neighborhood, though I'd like a more extensive menu. Dark wood and low lighting, a nice bar with a small TV, friendly staff and food that exceeded my expectations. I got the pork sandwich, which was fine, but the rest of my group got dishes that looked amazing (and according to them were as delicious as they looked). Good custom drinks, good fries. Prices were a bit high, but doable for a casual dinner.

My hubby and I have eaten here twice within the last month and plan on many more visits. The first time was for a weekday dinner. I had the pork belly sandwich and he had the prawns and quinoa entree. We started the meal off with the crab hush puppies and finished it with the chocolate torte. We shared tastes from each other's plates and we were not disappointed with anything that evening! Although all of our food was delicious, the prawn entree really topped the experience. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the pomegranate/serrano chile gastrique made it taste so very fresh. The prices are quite affordable. The bill for the appetizer, two entrees, and desert (we only had water) came to around $45. Not bad at all in my book for fresh quality ingredients and good portions. Just last weekend we went back for lunch/brunch on a Sunday. I had the roasted poblano burger and he had the pork shank benedict. This was one of the most delicious burgers I have eaten! I took a risk and ordered it medium-well, with my fingers crossed that it didn't come out too much on the "well" side. It was cooked perfectly and was so juicy and flavorful! With the richness of the toppings and the generous portion of fries I left feeling full and satisfied. Please be warned though, that if you're the type who's can inhale burgers and are used to the behemoth burgers of other burger joints, this isn't meant to be that. It's smaller and thicker and has been cooked to perfection without it being smashed to smithereens on the grill. As such, it fits nicely on a smaller quality bun and looks more petite than your normal cheap burger fare. But, the quality of this burger really shines through. The brunch atmosphere was laid back and easy going. Service has been top notch both times we have been there. This will definitely be a regular spot for us!

I have twice brunched here and both times left very very satisfied even in the land of brunchaholics that is Seattle. Their 6oz burger and fries is the perfect amount of deliciously cooked cow to get your beef on in the morning, with crisp skinny-cut fries and homemade ketchup, yum! But I experienced a real winner here just this week with the chicken fried pork cutlet, sausage gravy, grits and a biscuit. This reminds me so much of the hominy grill in charleston, SC which I love and frequently miss, serving up the big nasty. This dish is like a northwest homage to the nasty itself and it is so delicious, and I live so close to the blue glass, I won't have to miss it for a while. Come for brunch, stay for drinks, I'm looking forward to catching dinner sometime!

I love this place, it is one of my favorite places in Ballard. The food is Amazing! the service has alway been fantastic. The owner works there alot and she is super cute and friendly, the bartenders awesome. I am not much of a beer drinker so I can't comment on that but they make great Long Islands. Sometimes there is a wait on the weekends but well worth it. great atmosphere cozy and fun!

"Two dollar Pickled Egg anyone?" No. I'm not kidding. That incredible egg is actually listed under Bar Food on their menu. It must be pickled in 30 year-old Balsamic...or GOLD? Maybe it's one of those 20 year-old Duck Eggs from China? So. This is not a Working Man's place. At $5.25 per pint of beer, I thought I was back in Sweden. The bartenders just go through the motions of applying any Social Grace to their work. They take absolutely no interest in you as a customer. During two visits to their new restaurant, both remained aloof and far away. The greeting I received last time was "Thirsty?"...followed by a toss of the menu. "How to Make a Bad First Impression" I've been there twice and I'm not returning for strike three. The design is interesting. However, it's no fun facing the boring bartender; with your back to the door. The Sorghum bar top is cool...a sustainable "green" material. The black chair/stools and tables are definitely quality. I just don't think pretend pretentiousness is going to fly in our neighborhood. "I'll have another expensive beer, please. (My last, EVER!) You may keep your Pickled Egg."

I love this place! I was sad to see Tiger Tail leave but after our first visit here I was hooked. It also helps that it it walking distance to my home. Friday nights alwasy start out slow but will soon fill up to capacity, but the staff does a grear job of ushering their customers through. They are a bit on the slow side, but it's a place to not be rushed so I have never had a issue. Great drink selection and love the Poutine!

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday. I started w/ the blueberry signature cocktail, which was pretty good. For dinner, I had the tomatoes w/ basil and ricotta appetizer and the scallops. And for dessert the pineapple upside down cake. Everything was good and our waiter was very friendly. The music was loud which made conversation a little difficult but overall it was a nice experience.

Its fine; got there early with a group and enjoyed appetizers like the interesting Grilled Cauliflower. I had a seared cod entree which was yummy, and we all shared a warm apple cobbler/crisp with ice cream, which I thought was just about perfect. Later on the small space was packed and VERY noisy, so its a totally typical Seattle joint. By the time we split the check, it was not cheap. Part of the street-front glass wall is a roll-up door, which will presumably come into play in the summer; however I don't think there's enough room to put tables out on the sidewalk.

Walked in for brunch at 11:00 on a Sunday. The place was nearly empty. The woman at the bar said it was 21 and over. Honestly, opening a bar in Phinlard that doesn't even have the tiny demarcation that would have allowed a kid to come in during brunch is dumb. Makes me question the entire establishment. Went up the street to the Ridgeback and had an awesome brunch---The Ridgeback was well worth the wait since they allowed my kid in too.

My husband and I went to The Blue Glass this morning for the first time. While the atmosphere was lovely and the menu looked yummy, the service was unbelievably bad. The couple next to us arrived 5-10 minutes after us and inexplicably had their order, drinks and food before us. In fact, they finished their entire meal before our food came. My husband asked the bartender if they were still ironing out the kinks-- he flippantly replied that things were going well though their printer was down this morning. We waited for 50 minutes in total and then decided this business didn't deserve our time or money. The response from the waitress didn't help. There were several opportunities for the staff to provide better customer service-- a simple explanation that the food was taking longer than normal or any attempt at making the wait more tolerable would have gone a long way. We'll happily go down the street to the ridgeback cafe, caprese kitchen or honore next time.
