Very quiet setting, Food is amazing and fresh, portion is good, The Asian waiter was such a sweetheart even though that was his 3rd week there, answered all our questions with patience, I have never seen someone who was so prompt and friendly at a restaurant, made our family dinner such a pleasant experience. He was chasing after me after I forgot my cardigan there. Def will go back, for service and food

I'm not even from Seattle, but whenever I visit, I HAVE to go to Taylor's for oysters every time. The one in pioneer square is my favorite location. The menu is simple, the bartenders are super friendly. And obviously the oysters are divine!!!

    I. LOVE. OYSTERS. Totten inlets are by far, my favorite now that I've eaten them at Taylor's, twice. I tried to find some at markets nearby, but to no avail :(. Couldn't bring any back to the Bay Area with me T___T. Very fresh seafood here, their oysters are delicious but pricey. I'm not sure if they have a Happy Hour menu, but if they do, try and come during then. That way, you can enjoy more for the same price. Oysters range between $2.50-$3 each. Shigoku's and Kumamoto's are your signature smaller oysters and are very sweet. The waiter described them as a cucumber-ish refreshing taste, which they were. Totten inlets are the larger ones and are worth the $2 or so you pay for it. They're definitely sweet and super buttery, so give these a try as well. I would say the only thing worth ordering here is their clam steamers. The Homestead Steam comes with a hefty amount of clams, bacon and leeks. The soup was perfect to soak bread in and the clams were quite large. It wasn't salty but I feel like since the seafood is so fresh, it sort of salts itself. The geoduck sashimi was soft and fresh and didn't have a very strong fishy taste. However, at $12, you don't get a lot. But, it's worth a try if you've never had it before! I feel like Taylor's will always be a place I would drop by for oysters. It just doesn't get any better than this :).

I've been here twice on separate occasions for their happy hour and it does not disappoint! Great, fresh, juicy oysters and their house rosé is not bad at all! Other items tried included their steamed clams - very buttery and fragrant - a must try! The prawn cocktail - very succulent and meaty, and also their Dungeness crab which was cracked perfectly. There's nothing worse than fighting against the shell when you're trying to enjoy a meal. Note: I've tried this location as well as another and the service is consistent and great!

The tables are a bit close to one another. Makes it nice to talk with your neighboring table if you're into that. We had some good random company as we were eyeing people's food and vice versa. I ordered a prawn po boy with a caesar salad and 4 oysters. Don't ask me what the names are cause I already forgot. All I know is that it was delicious and each oyster had their personalities! If you wondering, no I didn't talk to them and get to know them before I squeezed a lemon over them and ate them! :) The experience was awesome and ambiance is equally energizing. Good for date night or with a group. This place is just plain great!

Awesome oysters!!! Personal fave is Virginica but all of em are so tasty. Kumamotos are great too. Their geoduck quality is super fresh I literally died eating it. Preparation of crab is fab. Cool Fact: Taylor Shellfish has been farming and growing their own oysters for over 100 years. They have three locations in WA. Best place to go for oysters !

Perfect place for dinner when you're near Pioneer Square! We stopped by and started off with oysters, they had Washington and New Zealand oysters on hand and they were absolute perfection. My fiancé and I each got the Prawn and Oyster Po Boy with a side salad and it was one of the best I've ever had! The bread was perfectly baked and grilled with just the right amount of oysters, sauce and filings. I love the side salad as a side instead of fries for a lighter alternative. Four oysters, two sandwiches and salads ran about $40. Happy Hour ends at 6pm and we just missed it so if you're looking to save money that may be an option. Staff was great and worked as a team with food running, refills, etc. This place has me longing to live near the water.....

Came in mid afternoon on a sounders game day, the place was pretty empty but service was good. Ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, clams, and a basket of fries. No complaints. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Fries and clams were good as well. Will definitely be back for more oysters.

Oysters! Oysters! Oysters! We were on a mission to find freshly shucked oysters for lunch. Parking could be a little challenging but we found a spot a couple blocks around the corner from the restaurant. It was kind of an off time to have lunch so there was no wait and we had our picks of seating. Since everyone was at the bar, we decided to join. I would have to say, service is a little slow and it took a bit for the one server to come around with menus, waters, and to refill water. It wasn't hectic but it more of a relaxed pace. We split the raw oyster tasting--$28 for 6 varieties of oysters (2 each). I can't name off the top of my head the types we had but they were all fresh and tasty. Surprisingly, we were at a consensus of which were our favourites. There was one that had a shockingly strong oyster flavor for two second and dissipated, that was a nice. I also ordered the fried oyster po'boy and it was fresh out of the fryer crispy and hot. The combination of the hot oysters, soft roll, crispy iceberg lettuce, and spicy tartar sauce was delectable. Fries were standard and I didn't care for the pickled ginger slaw. Food was excellent and service could have been more efficient. When we came, it wasn't quite happy hour so all the food was at regular menu pricing. Oysters came out to be $2.33/each which is a high. Worth it? For the quality, yes.

Have been here a number of times, always the best, always consistent. Ice cold, perfectly shicked and presented. Best in the city fo sure. Staff is super friendly, proffessional and accomodating. For oysters in the city, there is no better place!!

Awesome service. We happened upon the place before going to Taylor Swift Concert at Century Link Stadium. Grace tried her first oyster...unsuccessfully. More oysters for me and David!! Clean place and a simple menu. Best Wedge Salad I have ever eaten. The bacon was thick cut and cooked to perfection. The blue cheese dressing was something I would consider putting on everything I eat. The candied walnuts were a dream. I will pine for this wedge salad the next time I want to feed my feelings. David had the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich and couldn't stop raving about it...which was distracting whilst I happily ate my wedge salad. This place has got it done right.

My husband and I came to Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar on a Saturday evening after happy hour ended - great timing since there was no wait, terrible timing since we had to pay regular price for two dozen oysters. We absolutely loved the oysters at Taylor Shellfish Farms in Capitol Hill, and our experience at the Pioneer Square restaurant was just as great. We started off with his 'n hers oyster shooters, and they were served chilling in the ice on the oyster platter. We had a sampling of all of their oysters across two dozen, and our favorites were definitely the Kusshi and Virginicas. But all of the oysters were shucked well, extremely fresh and served ice cold - perfection! Our waitress was so awesome - friendly and helpful. I was starving, and I did feel like there was a delay in getting our order while the workers chatted behind the bar. But once the oysters came out, I was one happy camper and will definitely return.

Oysters are a niche item that you either love or can't stand. Luckily I love them, and truth be told oysters (and mussels and clams) are one of the best protein sources on the planet. Furthermore they are a homegrown product that couldn't be more of an example of a 'local harvest to table' food source. I'm sure Taylor shellfish is kicking themselves for not initiating the oyster bar concept sooner. And I'm sure they are thrilled to be offering seafood direct to the consumer allowing for greater inventory control and likely greater profits as well. I liked how the wait staff is knowledgeable about each oyster type. In essence, you get an education with your meal. I'm sure they are building a fan base that will only snowball in size from here. I've already heard it's difficult to keep up with demand from the oyster bars that are popping up around the country, all of them packed. In fact while we at this oyster bar (during Hawks game - go Hawks) the fire department was there letting management know it appears the restaurant is packed beyond its maximum capacity...music to The Taylor families ears I'm sure. In conclusion what a great and unique addition to the culinary options available in Seattle.

While in Seattle, I could not stop eating oysters. In fact, I think I ate so much of it that when I got home I got a little sick... Anyways, the moral of the story is go big or go home. And when in Seattle, eat as much fresh seafood and drink as much coffee as you can. On my last day in Seattle, I wanted one last oyster place before getting on my plane ride home. That was when I discovered Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar. I don't know whether to be sad that I didn't try it sooner into my trip or to be glad that I found it on my last day. Who knows how many times I would have visited here during my short Seattle stay if I had tried this Oyster Bar on day one. Service was fantastic. Oysters even more so. Oysters were fresh and delicious! We ordered the Shuckers dozen and when it came out, our server pointed out the different types of oysters, their different tastes, and what differentiated them from each other. I liked this little bit of info because I like to know my food before I stuff my face. The husband paired his oysters with some beer and was happy as a clam (hah!) on the plane home. Liked this place. And definitely recommend it to all my fresh seafood lovers out there.

Great oyster bar! Our server Melissa was so sweet, and knowledgable of her oysters. We immediately came here after checking in our hotel-the concierge at our hotel recommended it for oysters. Had a glass of their Pinot Grigio, husband has a beer. Started with the house salad, which was delicious and actually big enough for two. Then we got 2 of each of the oysters on the menu. It was hard to pick a favorite! Would like to come back for happy hour- Melissa said its $1.50 for the shigoku oysters.

I absolutely LOVE this place! My boyfriend and I went here on Monday evening for a special night out, and we couldn't have had a better time. We ordered a dozen Shigoku oysters, and were very tempted to get more! SO delicious. We also tried the Shikoku oyster shooters, and it was a weird first experience, but taste really good! You should try it for fun. My boyfriend ordered the Arugula Almond salad, and it was super flavorful. I ordered the Fried oyster po boy, and it was hands down one of the best, and filled with flavor. I also ordered a Vesper martini, and the Bartender ran up to me letting me know he accidentally made me a French 75, and that it was on him, and then made me the original martini. Both drinks were incredible, and the customer service was above and beyond. I will definitely come back here!!

I went here for dinner and sat at the bar. First, the non-sparkling rose is very good - especially for the price. I had the dozen oyster selection and the beet salad. The oysters were fantastic and a very nice assortment. I feel like I could have eaten 30! Also, the salad was very good too. All of the servers were very friendly but not over friendly/talkative which was nice and appreciated after a long day of work and trying to fit as much fun stuff as I could on a business trip, I will definitely come back when I return to Seattle on vacation and/or work!

Located next to the Seattle Central Park it's an easy pick for any wandering tourist to stumble upon. Clean. Sharp decor. Delicious oysters and don't go without a SHOOTER! A totally recommended place. Loved it!

We wanted to take the Underground tour at 7pm, and stopped at this Pioneer Square restaurant for their happy hour. We sat at the bar and surprisingly enjoyed the best meal of our trip. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. I especially liked the oysters, manila clams, and geoduck. Dungeness crab was served chilled; presented beautifully. Accompanied with a few pints of beer and a bloody mary, this dinner was a winner.

Go Seahawks! and Go Taylor's! This is a good place to go to before a Seahawks game! My wife and I came here before the Seahawks and Giants game and had drinks. I had a cava brut, but I realized that it may be dry, and the bartender there was like this is going to be dry, but I'm going to add something to make it taste better and it did. My wife said there are a few locations and she been to the one in Capital Hill and liked it. She had the rita and it tasted good, so I had one as well. As we drank and talked, we saw money making opportunities going on at the window where a party bus looking vehicle pulled up and had its top windows opened and the guys in Taylor's handed them fresh trays of oysters; it ended up being a tailgate party. We were about to check out, but after a few drinks, we wanted to try some oysters, so we ordered some kusshi and shigoku and it was so fresh and delicious. The oysters are the best. There was also a guy inside the bar shucking oysters and worked really fast in getting orders done. I liked the kusshi the most. The staff had a lot of unity that in turn provided great service. Mark us back for the next Seahawks game.

One question before you thinking bout visiting Taylor, "If you're a OYSTER LOVER?". I'll say hell yeah!!!!!!! My sister and I were there during Happy Hour. I had two rounds of draught beer, we ordered the selection from the regular menu which includes all kinds of oysters on the menu; also, another two dozens of the selected oyster from the Happy Hour menu. OMG :D the oysters are JUST FRESH! You're going to have a great time there with your companies, together with a tons super fresh oysters in good deal, good beers and nice staffs! ENJOY :D

Great selection of fresh, raw oysters. My favorite was the Virginica - for its size and and how smooth the texture was. Made the mistake of getting the oyster shooters, the vodka was so strong, I couldn't even taste the oyster! Both of us were just cringing after and had to wash the vodka taste down with the buttery sauce from our Manila clams.

This place offers a great seafood bar food. I tried all the fresh oysters, steamed manila clams in garlic sauce, steamed mussels in pesto sauce with fries. Good wine selections. The waiter was wonderful. Great casual yet elegant ambiance. The service is great. This place will be the place for me to go if I crave the seafood bar food.

Descriptive phrase: approachable, fresh shellfish. We had Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar in Pioneer Square recommended to us by a bartender nearby, and we were not disappointed. It's a long, high-ceilinged room with a bar on one side and tables on the other. It's cool and collective, and the artwork helps give it some warmth. Our server Conner was knowledgeable and friendly, and his own recommendations were spot-on. A couple of local brews for $5, and we ventured into new territory with the Oyster Po Boy ($14) and Geoduck Sashimi ($12). I've never seen geoduck on a menu before (Midwest boy), so I'm glad we tried it. It's really interesting, and tasted fresh. The serving was small, especially for the price, but it's an uncommon dish. The Po Boy (with fries) was large enough, though, to make the two dishes more than enough for both of us. The bread was perfect, and the fried oysters were delightful. I would absolutely recommend Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar for anyone looking for fresh shellfish in a pleasant atmosphere.

Scene: playoff game between Seahawks and Packers. Pioneer square was filled that day. There was no bar available, and no seating room anywhere. We hung out down the block from Taylor Shellfish for the majority of the game and watched the game from the outside of various bars. Finally, the game was tied. We needed to find a place to sit, eat, drink and watch stat. Cue Taylor Shellfish Bar! It wasn't packed! It had standing tables and TV's on both walls. Seahawks win! The restaurant goes crazzzyy!! Okay back to the food: ordered 1 dozen oysters, all was very delicious and fresh. It's Seattle, you expect nothing less right? Also ordered baked oysters with bacon and kale. Very tasty, but I prefer raw oysters. Ordered fries and nom! The reason why this place receives 4 stars instead of 5 is that the menu is not very extensive. It has your basic bivalves, as it is an oyster bar. I wish it had more food to share though. Oysters aren't filling and can me consumed in a manner of 2 seconds. Some calamari would be nice, or other items to share while watching the game. Otherwise, it was very good.

They offer a terrific sampler of various Pacific oysters. The bartender explained about each type to me, was very knowledgeable, and recommended the right beer. The oysters were incredibly good, some of the best I've ever had and I'm an oyster lover. If you love oysters, this is the place for you.

Delicious oysters! Great service! Ross is an awesome bartender who also delivers great customer service! Checked in with us multiple times and helped us out whenever we needed. Although Seattle is the city of the Seahawks, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here! And Taylor's made it even better! Go Warriors, Giants, and Niners! Sorry not sorry, I'll a Bay Area girl.

What a way to end our trip in Seattle! Amazing food and service. We got there just before the soccer game and it was packed. Took a walk around the block behind the mob of fans marching to the stadium and when we got back we were seated right away as promised. The prawn Po boy was amazing!! I highly recommend that as well as the oysters. Bloody Mary's were tasty as well.

We had to search for another oyster bar happy hour to go to after we discovered that Elliot's by the pier was closed due to the seawall construction. I was devastated, until I found the new Taylor's located in Pioneer Square! I started off with an Anthem, he started off with an Oyster Stout and we shared a dozen of Kumamotos and Peale Passage Oysters. They were good, but not mind blowingly good. We waited till happy hour and BOOM! ordered two dozens of the Shigokus (someone's getting frisky tonight!). Taylor Shellfish Oyster Farms has truly breed the perfect oyster in my opinion. The Shigoku, is now my new favorite. I can't get over how perfect it is!! First, it tastes mildly briney, which I love! Then it slowly turns sweet as you chew the super plump meat! This breed has a deep cup giving it more meat and more bang for your buck. The best part is that you can order them online and have them shipped directly to your home! I had to search because I want access to stuff that I love! We totally took advantage of happy hour and ordered few more rounds of drinks and tried their geoduck. Delicious, fresh, chewy and creamy depending on the part of the geoduck. Drunk off seafood and beer, I was a happy camper. This is a chill place to hang out at, they have flat screen TVs with the game on, we met a friendly couple from Georgia, and they have just enough food not to overwhelm you. I like menus like that. DJ the bartender was so friendly and awesome to chat with, he made my experience at Taylor's extremely enjoyable.

I love this place. The background music is bluesy and awesome, and they make a wicked Corpse Reviver. Combine that with the mussels, and it's a great place to chill out, rain or shine.

Oysters really were amazing, but the steamed clam was a bit disappointing. Maybe should've went for 2 dozen oysters and nothing else instead. Beet salad was exceptional too!

Delicious oysters. Fresh as you'd expect it. Went in around 8pm on a Saturday and surprisingly it wasn't full. Similar to Rodney's oyster house if you are from Vancouver Canada.

This was a great place to try. They have a variety of fresh live oysters to try and a clam chowder bar.. They have a nice wine selection. The atmosphere is very chill and the staff is nice.

Great food. Great drinks. Great people. Eli was awesome even gave us whiskey bars to hit up tonight. You must try the oyster stew and the oysters with fresh grated horse radish. Love this place

Oysters are fresh and delicious! We came here for their happy hour. I think there was a decent deal for hh, but it was by no means a bargain. We ordered a ton of the different oysters and they were all tasty! It's kind of hard to go wrong with Taylor shellfish oysters. We also ordered drinks. The selection was pretty standard, with some beer and wine that was maybe a dollar or two off for happy hour. This place is by no means a full service restaurant. You come in, sit around small round tables and slurp up some oysters and maybe have a drink while you're at it. So stop by if you're in the mood for a fresh snack! It's located right by Melrose market.

Awesome oysters!!!! Many different ways!! We got the oyster sampler plate, shrimp cocktails, geoduck clam, oyster stew, smoked oyster dip, baked oyster two different ways, and steam clams. Everything was tasty but the there is not a lot of volume and it does add up fast. I wish they would have a few more things on the menu.... Would definitely go back again!!

We came here the first night we arrived in town. The staff was awesome and very knowledgeable! We ordered the shucker's dozen and all of the oysters were so good and the variety was fantastic! I had the fried oysters po-boy and it was really good, the remoulade sauce on it was amazing! After our meal, we decided we had to come back again before we left. So a few days later we came back and got the shucker's dozen and I had the homestead chowder. The clams were delicious so were the potatoes and bacon, such an awesome combo! Even the cream broth was amazing! I wanted to eat it all up.

Food: I only had their bread and oysters. And that was enough to get me to come back. Side order of bread was from a local bakery, love the texture of the bread. 4 dozen oysters for 2 of us. Killed it. Service: server was jolly and friendly.

First time going to an oyster bar and it definitely did not disappoint! I was feeling ambitious and had probably a total of 6 raw oysters today (my first time eating raw oysters), I had to say it wasn't as exotic as I thought it would be. The sauce complemented it really well, we ordered 3 different types of raw oysters (other than the size and look of it I honestly couldn't taste the different) My favorite dish would be the Baked House Mussels, the Parmesan and butter seriously topped it off! Their fries were pretty bomb. Overall it was a good first experience at this restaurant! Would prob come back, they're quite pricy but my mentor said it was worth it since they're fresh oysters! Also shoutout to my mentor, TK, for this treat (you da best)

So I have to say sorry to Taylor's as I wrote an incorrect review for another restaurant. I felt so bad because I knocked the place and I actually had a great experience at Taylor's. I had a jumbo shrimp appetizer. They were good however I wouldn't call them Jumbo compared to what I am used too pretty standard. I followed up with oyster po boy. Damn was this good! Definitely fresh and definitely good. Had more than a few oyster po boys in my life being from the south and near the coast and this was as good as any. Thanks for a great experience!

Oysters were awesome. The vinaigrette they bring with them is yummy. I like mine a bit spicy, so would've been nice if they'd brought the cocktail sauce and horseradish without us asking. My Martini was perfection. Waitstaff very nice, knowledgable and sweet. Gave us our space, as in they didn't hover, but also they were attentive- perfect!

Small location, delicious oysters, cold beer. Took awhile to get my order in, even though I was sitting at the bar. The bartender poured me and my friend some water then disappeared for ten minutes. At least we had water. There was an owner or manager to the side who was busy patting himself on the back in front of patrons about how well his establishment was doing. But when the bartender came back we had our oysters promptly. A bit pricey but not too bad considering this is downtown Seattle. Probably wouldn't be a regular but it's definitely worth checking out.

Pretty good spot with a nice, laid-back atmosphere (on non-game days), but my opinions are based primarily on the 'Taylor Shellfish Oyster Stout': New Belgium Brewing (Fort Collins, CO) & Elysian Brewing (Seattle, WA) teamed up to make this stout especially for Taylor Shellfish. It's complete with oyster water which is used during the brewing process. However, don't let that gimmick scare you off, it's a really good stout. The Fried Oyster Po Boy is pretty good & their homemade tartar sauce is great. And this is from someone who isn't usually a big fan of tartar sauce. Good service, too. One waitress/bartendress (is that a word???) is really good - can't immediately recall her name, though. Works her ass off, extremely personable but definitely not in the overbearing "giiiiive meeeee tiiiiiipppps" kind of way. Nice overall vibe in this place. But, do try the 'Taylor Shellfish Oyster Stout' for $6 on tap.

Went here on opening night. The place has great atmosphere. Shuckers and steamers are at the bar, which makes the whole experience so much better. The granite bar countertop, wood floors and historic black and white photos of oyster farming complement the building perfectly. The 4 TVs make this place perfect to watch the games and being only a block from Century Link is perfect. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Sitting at the bar really let's you interact with the staff as they filled the orders. The oysters had the freshness you expect from Taylor. The shigokus were fat and some of the best oysters I have ever had. I highly recommend them! I'll be back!

Pretty excited they opened one here in Pioneer Square. This is the first time I tried Taylor Shellfish since I've heard great things about it since moving to Seattle. The food was fresh, the drinks were great, and the service was awesome. The only negatives is that the menu is pretty limited and there's not really a great scene happening just yet in Pioneer Square (I assume cuse it's new). The happy hour isn't that great either (still pretty pricey). But you can't deny the freshness of the oysters. They have 3 fresh oysters to choose from and 4-5 baked oysters to choose from. Don't quite remember all the names of the oysters but you can definitely taste the difference between them and I liked the Kumamoto the best (sweet with no fishy/ocean aftertaste). The baked oysters with the bacon and kale were also awesome. They were pretty big and came in a set of 4. This one is definitely a winner for those that may not necessarily like fresh oysters.

Luckily stumbled into this oyster joint right the beginning of happy hour. Score! We ended up ordering 3 doz shigoku oysters, had a side of fries, and a bloody mary for me. We also had an oyster shooter, and I regret nothing. Nice ambiance, great oysters, wonderful service, and the happy hour prices didn't hurt. Glad we found this place while visiting Seattle!

We started with the Shuckers dozen (daily selection) and we were not disappointed! Then asked our waiter (the bartender) we'd like something baked do you have any recommendations, where of course he did; house broil. After indulging in the house broil I made the definitive decision that this was the best oyster bar I've been to! Not to mention their dirty martini is legit.

If oysters are your thing, don't hesitate to drop in for a "sample" dozen for $28 and beer. My favs are shigoku, kumamoto and kusshi. Ridiculously fresh and full of flavor. You just can't go wrong with trinity of these oysters. If you're still hungry, order some steam clams with bread. Great job guys!

Amazing oysters- super fresh, and very tasty. They're served with a side of delicate vinegar sauce for a bit of acidity. These were honestly the best oysters I've ever eaten. Apparently, many other restaurants get their oysters from Taylor's, which speaks to their quality. We also tried the geoduck. It was actually pretty mild and quite tasty! They serve thin slices of both the siphon (the wiener-looking part), and the stomach (the part inside the shell). They also serve a killer bloody Mary! The service was fast and friendly, highly recommended!

Apparently I'm not a very refined oyster aficionado. I'll chalk it up to living in a land locked state. Generally I liked to push my boundaries and don't hesitate much when ordering new things. I followed my standard protocol when we took a friend visiting town here during happy hour, and ordered their special. They came to the table and we tried in earnest to eat them, but all three of us were repulsed to varying degrees. I'm perfectly willing to chalk it up to inexperience with oysters, so I'm not writing this to criticize the food. What was really disappointing was our treatment when I asked our server if he could take them away. I've worked in restaurants, I get it. I know it's annoying when people complain about something that probably should've been apparent from the menu. That's why I didn't ask for him to take them off the bill or anything - I just said in no uncertain terms that we didn't like them and asked that he take them away. It was clear that we weren't going to like them so I wanted to avoid substituting a new plate thus wasting more of their oysters. Our server appeared to be in disbelief and made my attempt at clarity painfully awkward as he drew it out, making sure, with passive aggressive criticism of our decision, that we simply lacked refined palates. To top things off, after he took them away he invited the chef out for a subtle laugh to meet the fools who dared send back his irreproachable delicacies. The server took the oysters off the bill without asking and we left their cost plus twenty percent as the tip. It was right to take them off even though we didn't ask, but I'll never take a guest their again because the server went out of his way to make it an embarrassing experience for us all.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before now. What a WONDERFUL oyster haven. Knowledgeable staff who can actually describe the oysters and tell you about them. I rotate between loving shigokus, kumamotos, and Olympias. All delicious and all worth a try. Chowder is delicious and great for a typical rainy Seattle day. If I could stop by here a few times a week grab a few oysters and a cocktail my life would be complete.

First time here, I ordered the Manila clams and the matsushi oyster (baked with mushroom and peppers). I'm usually not a fan of oysters, but they disguised the gooeyness here extremely well with the Mushroom and peppers. It came with 4, so my only regret is that I didn't order more. It was all incredibly delicious! Go! Go! Go!

My mouth waters as I write this review. My boyfriend and I live just around the corner, and we have come here and overindulged a few times. It's easy to do with awesome food, a very friendly and knowledgeable bar staff, and a pleasurably diverse song playlist in the background. We always start off with a dozen raw oysters and the prawn cocktail, which are both so, so fresh and delectable. We then move onto some steamers (one time, we even ordered one of each -- no regrets, just smiles, a couple of happily bloated stomachs, and a deep appreciation for sumptuous seafood and broth). It's hard to pick a favorite out of the steamers because they are all so tasty, but it's hard to beat a broth with bacon lardoons. That said, if I were to recommend one, it'd be the Homestead. Don't forget to ask for some Macrina baguette, as it goes perfectly with that bacony broth! They also have a decent selection of wines, and we love that they carry a good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

Guess what I ate here? Guess? Oysters! And they were yummy. Fresh, and beautifully prepared.

Homestead steamer. Delicious. I would have drank the broth if it was socially acceptable. My one and only complaint-several empty shells. Kind of a let down for $15. Overall food was amazing. We had a dozen oysters, shooters with vodka, half a Dungeness crab, the homestead steamer mentioned previously, plus 4 cocktails. The server was so so good. Wish we lived closer, or maybe not since we'd be broke from visiting. This is a Seattle staple you shouldn't miss whether you're a local or an out of towner. Capital hill location is even more casual and just as delicious.

Great place to go for shellfish in Seattle. The fried oyster po-boy is excellent and worth the price. The menu is a bit too small for me. I would have liked to see more sandwich options. Also, normal prices on shellfish were a little high in my opinion.

Came here on a Saturday night and the place was pretty much empty even though there was a Mariners game at the stadium a few blocks down. We ordered two beers to start off, the first was Pike IPA (this was bottled and did not taste fresh) and the Fremont IPA on draft which was good! My boyfriend ordered the Oysters Matsushima and I ordered a few Shigoku and Kumamoto oysters (both were $2.50 each). The order came out fairly quickly and everything tasted delicious. Too bad there was no happy hour for the oysters or else I would have had lots more!

Was out and about on a visit to Seattle and stopped in here for lunch with a friend. The menu is brief but pleasantly seafood-focused. Enjoyed a shrimp cocktail (pricey at 4 shrimp for $10, though the cocktail sauce was very good), a fine salad and an excellent plate of plump, juicy fried oysters with buffalo sauce. Taking down a star because the server kept taking dishes when I was literally on my last bite (like when I was holding the last shrimp in the cocktail - I still have 25% of my dish uneaten, yo) and checking back constantly with a chipper "Is everything delicious? How is everything tasting? Delicious?" Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar, please stop overtraining your servers and let me enjoy my expensive and yes, largely delicious meal in peace.

Love this place. Good to go for for a quick oyster, mussels and clams stop! It's all fresh and service is fast and decent. Though only thing lacking here is that there is no clam chowder?! But overall, everything was awesome!

First, the atmosphere of the place is cool or "hip". They have two televisions that play sports but play great music in my opinion. The exposed brick looks visually appealing and the tables are not on top of each other which some places like this are. Now the food. For two people we ordered a full dungeness crab, some Mediterranean muscles, a house salad and bread. Not only was it enough food but I didn't feel overly stuffed after. The broth and spices that the muncles were cooked in was delicious and I even found myself dipping the bread in it. The crab was meaty and had a great cocktail sauce to accompany it. Our server was super friendly and more than one person stopped by to ask if we were good. I find it to be a great added piece in customer service when the team as a whole contributes to the customer experience. Great meal and if I lived in the area would go again!

Been to Taylor's twice in two weeks. I strictly go for Oysters or Oysters and a drink. The oysters the serve at Taylor's are quality oysters and some of the best tasting varieties in town. Quality ingredients, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a bar with a wide variety of spirits.

I knew it was going to be a good time when I saw the steamers at the bar, putting out a heavenly smell of butter, seafood, and broth. It just got better from there. We tried their happy hour shigoku oysters, and the server could actually explain to us what the farming process was, and what it meant that they were tide tumbled (imagine bags of oysters and the tide coming in and out and flipping the bags around). We also tried their mussel and clam steamer with some bread to sop up the broth, as well as kumamoto and pacific oysters. Everything was top notch, and it was great to see a place truly take pride in their food!

We had a great dinner . The staff were great and made sure we were finished in time to make or train. Oyster po boy and broiled oysters were wonderful. I even found a pearl in the smoked oyster dip. What a great place . Good food and service . Can't ask for more.

The place is awesome. I would definitely go there again. We were there on saturday night and pretty much had the place to ourselves as the most traffic to the place is on weekdays. The raw oysters were super fresh and delicious. We tried the geoduck clam out of curiosity and found it to have a very unique flavor, good to try but probably once in a while. But it was great to know that it can be found only in the shores of WA. The chef and the manager were very friendly to us, came over to check on us several times and told us tons of interesting information about Taylor oyster farms history.

4 stars as we are big TS fans. And the food quality here is just as good. We like the seafood/oyster bar feel and focus of the other TS places. This one is more of a drink bar with oysters and seafood. We will prefer capital hill and Seattle center TS places in the future. Buy we will stay regulars. Now we need a TS closer to home in Tacoma.

A few days after the soft opening, myself and the Fledge hit the happy hour and it was amazing. Fantastic staff, perfect service, fresh shellfish and a great value for oysters. We started with the geoduck that was raw and sliced thin, needed nothing but the soy and wasabi were there for the sushi vibe. The famous oyster stew might be the best in the world. As for the prawn cocktail with Taylor's perfect cocktail sauce was a nice addition to the several dozen oysters that I inhaled. looking forward to going back. Thank you Taylor Shellfish for helping make Pioneer Sq. a great place to eat. obtw they are in the same building as Rainshadow meats. Another excellent place that serves up great sandwiches.

The oysters and the wait staff's knowledge of their origin, flavor, and suggestions to pair with drinks, sauces, etc... is so far unmatched. Coming from Boston, I was unsure as to what to expect with the oysters up in the PNW, but gladly surprised. I have come here for Happy Hour and for a Regular Dinner. Highly recommend and beats out any oyster bar by the pier!

I'm a seafood monster, but surprisingly, I'm not the biggest fan of raw oysters...I mean, I'll eat 'em, and enjoy 'em, but if there's a kitchen, why not cook 'em up? Right around the corner from my office, Taylor Shellfish opens up next to Rainshadow Meats, which has been putting a beating on my wallet for several months already. I remained disciplined for most of a month, but we went for lunch yesterday: plenty of options other than the raw, so I was happy. I had the oyster stew (Xinh Dwelley's recipe), and the moules-frites (mussels and fries). The stew was outright perfection...a creamy but light broth, herbed just so, flavors balanced, but nothing so strong as to get between me and the flavor of those outstanding oysters. The mussels were fine, fat, stunningly fresh, and just as perfect: the steaming liquid was not the usual winey, buttery, savory bread-dunking temptation that most places serve--this consisted of judicious amount of jalapeño butter, cherry tomatoes, and basil--but its clean flavor and that slight zing of chile suited the mussels as well or better...since the order came with superbly cooked and seasoned frites and the horseradish tartar sauce, bread might've been overkill. Having a tough time convincing myself not to go back again today..there's a lot more menu to be worked through.

Learned about this place from Travel & Leisure's website. It was a little out of the way to walk over from the Pike Place Market, but it was worth it. We got there right when they opened so it was only us for a bit... this location just opened a couple of months ago and I hope it takes off. Really tasty seafood- At the suggestion of the server, we sampled a platter of the oysters they had at the raw bar that day. The oyster stew was delicious and we also had an oyster po' boy, which was good but doesn't compare to the po' boys in NOLA. It was a bit pricier than we expected, so I'd definitely recommend going there for Happy Hour.

My husband and I pretty much stake out every seafood spot around, whether it's in our hometown of LA or via our travels, and Taylor Shellfish is one of our hands down favorites. We first found the Melrose location years ago as we learned they source oysters for many well established restaurants, so we tried the new Pioneer Square location (twice in two days) when we were in town. We like the retail feel of the Melrose location, but we had an amazing time with Stump and the friendly staff here. It's the same great quality oysters as any of their locations, so our pick would be to go where Stump is! + -Oyster selections this weekend were Shigoku, Pacific and Kumamotos. Clean and so so good (we had three dozen between the two of us). Shigokus are my favorite oysters ever -Also had the homestead stew, geoduck and po boy, which were all outstanding too, but the oysters still can't be beat -Reasonably priced wines -Great location near CenturyLink and SafeCo; walkable from downtown -Lots of TVs to catch the OT Super Bowl rematch - the customers and workers were all into it, making for a great vibe watching the Hawks win!

Recently spent a week in Seattle for a little vacation and happend to stumble on the gem. Being a chef in Sacramento im very familiar with Taylor Shellfish and the quality of their product (shigoku oysters especially) so when I saw they had an oyster bar we had to stop in. We were instantly greeted at the door and immediately got a table and had menus as well as a cold glass of water. The menu is amazing and just think about the food while writing this is making my mouth water. The music and atmosphere were great kindve an uptown swanky vibe but laid back at the same time. The service was nothing short of incredible very attentive and I swear as soon as I cleaned my plate and moved it aside it was swept off the table. Overall a truly phenomenal experience I just cant say enough about it! I would come back to Seattle just to eat here.

WOW! Very fun place and food was great! Mussels & clams were both great! I got the oyster Poboy and my husband got shrimp Poboy both were excellent ! We are from NOLA so we know our poboys. Had a very refreshing sparkling rose that was delicious. The staff was very friendly. Great music - good vibe. My only complaint was it was very packed and they had the tunes way too loud. You couldn't hear yourself think. This was LOUD LOUD! Like "all up in da club" level, not fun casual dining level. If they would just turn it down from notch 18 to maybe 10 it would be fine. We will be back for sure and looking forward to trying more cocktails and refreshing whites. They don't serve reds due to the seafood / shellfish theme. Great before / after sounders games.

Awesome place, awesome food, awesome staff. I came here just for a quick bite, walked by the place with only a chalkboard out front. The restaurant itself is relatively new (the waiter told me it's been 2 weeks as of this writing) but the company has been growing and farming the oysters for 120 years. The oysters I tried were ridiculously fresh, both in appearance and taste. Definitely get the shigoku, which are a bit smaller but the taste is amazing. It almost seemed like they were just out of the water due to the freshness. The staff was super friendly and even though I'm not an experienced oyster eater, he took the time to explain how to get the most flavor of the oyster without overdoing it on the lemon and marinade. Ideally you'll only want a few droplets of each. He also told me a little bit about the history of the company and commitment to quality, which is not something you'll get at other uppity places. The atmosphere was also energetic and there's plenty of seating both at the bar and the tables, and has a mix of modern and historic furnishings. Next time you're craving oysters (or anything else), you should definitely look this place up. I plan on bringing my friends here.

We had the shrimp po-boy and steamed clams for a shared light lunch. The shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked (not breaded and fried), and the sandwich came with a delicious lightly-spicy aioli sauce. Perfection! The steamed clams were very fresh. There was not a hint of seafood odor in the whole place. The fries come with a dipping sauce that is ferociously garlicky. You've been warned.

I had my first introduction to shigoku oysters here and wow! The oysters have such a great taste and they are part of the happy hour special, which I believe still runs from 4pm-6pm. The staff is super friendly and Tom, the manager, is genuinely nice. If you are in the Pioneer Square area, you must stop here for oysters. Their cocktails are fabulous too.

Visited Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar for the first time, and I might be back; it depends on their happy hour prices. There were many items on the menu that I wanted to try, but my goal on this visit was to test the oysters. Since they produce the product, I was expecting to be blown away...and wasn't. This oyster bar is no better than any other great place in Seattle. Though not as pricey as the highly esteemed Ballard spot, it's not as good either. The oysters were good, not great, not fantastic, not, "WOW, I just tasted the sea!", mind blowing, and they were $28 for meh. Add insult to injury, they charge extra for cocktail sauce and horseradish!!! That feels like charging for ketchup to go with your French fries!! Service at this joint was SLOW. Taylor shellfish has been in the shellfish business for generations, but not the restaurant trade, and it shows. Service was horrible, friendly, but slow. It took 30 minutes to get our standard dozen oysters. It felt like they went and harvested the bi-valves out of Puget Sound it took so long. We must have hit a shift change or dinner time for the staff b/c it seemed like the wait was inordinately long for 12 oysters. I was tempted to enjoy another Bloody Mary while waiting, but was afraid I would be onto my 3rd or 4th before the oysters arrived. The Bloody Mary's were the saving grace on this visit. They were SOOOOOO delicious and spicy, accompanied by a great garnish of pickled veggies. I would go back just to have a few of these libations...they do this part very well!

We have visited all three Taylor locations but Pioneer square is one of our favorites. My biggest complaint has always been the unfamiliar wine list. We are always searching for a good glass of local Chardy. Can't find one at any of the 3 locations but lucky for us we found Tom! Not sure what his position is there but sense it is of some importance. He guided us through the wine list and darned if I didn't find a few glasses that were fabulous and not Chardonnay! And yes, before you criticize. We really need to expand our wine horizons. There is life outside of Chardonnay! Thanks Tom! Oysters were fabulous and you were too!

The food here is just EXCELLENT! I would share pictures except I scarfed it down too fast. I had a Shigoku oyster, tasted like it hopped out of the ocean and onto my plate. Then had the homestead steam - mussels, clams, pork belly, potatoes, onions. This was unreal it was so good!!! I practically licked the bowl, soaking up every last drop with wonderful baguette. Service was very good too (sat at the bar). I highly recommend this place - it will be the best shellfish you've had in years!

I love oysters but only if they're cooked. You might be surprised to know that it's actually kind of hard to find a place that serves cooked oysters. So I'm always on the lookout for a place that has them. Since Taylor does, we thought we'd try it out. So glad we did! I got the Oyster Stew and I gotta say... I'm over the moon about that soup! Can't wait to go back for that! I also had the Fried Oyster Po Boy Sandwich. It was tasty and filling but unfortunately I really couldn't taste the oysters at all because the veggies and sauce overwhelmed the oysters. I probably would have been happier with just oysters on a roll with a little sauce on the side. Hubby got a prawn cocktail which was good, and fried oysters (not a Po Boy) and he liked that. We also liked the fries. I found the Cole Slaw a little bitter, but I am terribly picky about coleslaw. The Hubs liked the ginger in the slaw. Anyway I definitely want to go back for that soup and the plain Fried Oysters.

Our first time at this location and I have to say; what a pleasure. Great service, great location, great drink selection and perfect atmosphere (of course the regular great Taylor shellfish food). It's location is warmer than their queen Ann location (which I find a little stale) and with a little more class than the capital hill location. Taylor Shellfish, welcome to pioneer square.

note to self: great last minute Vday dinner! The staff was extremely friendly and the food was perfect. They take pride in their role in the shellfish production, and it shows. This place is right around the corner from my office, so I was very excited to try it out! The space itself is quite nice--exposed bring, marble bar, spacious, high ceilings. They did a great job on the place! I am an oyster lover and the Shigoku oysters on happy hour (half a dozen, $6) were amazing--briny and fresh, served with house made vinegarette and fresh lemon. They tasted fresh from the ocean and were nicely cold. The draft beers feature some local IPAs and an oyster stout, it made me want to stay all night and try them all, but as it was, I just had the Fremont IPA ($5, not even happy hour price). I also tried the broiled oysters, on the recommendation of the bartender--the spicy buttery sauce served on top the broiled oysters was fabulous and flavorful! Left my lips tingling a bit from the spicy, and the oysters were perfectly cooked--not undercooked and not overcooked and rubbery. Oh! And there were 3 TVs that I saw featuring baseball games! Another plus in my book! Actually, I think this might be the perfect bar, will definitely be back! Two thumbs up from this reviewer!

I've been looking for a restaurant that focuses on serving tasty shellfish, and this place was right on the money. Happy hour prices were on point and was able to walk right up to the bar. The happy hour oysters were fantastic; very fresh and the right amount of brine. The bartenders were personable and could keep a conversation while making shellfish dishes at the same time. The inside is plain but the high ceiling and photos/art worked well with the seafood theme. A great restaurant.

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday - plenty of open seats. Was looking for oysters and lots of them. The food lived up to the reviews I had read. I had a large sampling of the various oysters they offered, and they were all fresh and delicious. I also tried the Oysters Marco which was awesome! If I had some more room, I probably would have had some of the chowder but couldn't swing it...especially with the combo of good selection of beers they had on draft. If I lived in the area, I would be here once a week for the oysters!

Arrived for lunch, and we left four hours later. We ate mussels, geoduck, and a dozen oysters without a speck of grit. The GM, Tom, even proceeded to show us how that was possible by showing us how to shuck the ultimate oyster, which led to four free oysters. He also made us three free cocktails just to try them for the hell of it. I would sit and eat here every day of the week, if I could. Sit at the bar and, if you're lucky, shit will get awesome.
