Came back and got spring rolls, absolutely fantastic. Got the pho and really tasty, the prices were fair too. Dunno what I was thinking before.

Food was tasty, but my god, the service was hideous. There were 2 women there, 1 younger and 1 older, and neither of them seemed even remotely interested in providing customer service. They just spoke to each other in Vietnamese the whole time, didn't talk to me once except to take my order. I couldn't wait to get out.

Always a fabulous place to eat...But I am going for take out.

This review is solely based on the banh mi carry-out I tried. I love me a good banh mi and the grilled pork banh mi from tangerine tree unfortunately disappointed me. While the sandwich was relatively cheap ($4 for takeout) - the meat was way oversalted and the fillings were skimpy. The bread to filling ratio probably 3 to 1 and I can understand if you don't want to fill it up with meat but then add more of the veggies! The flavors were decent though (aside from the saltiness of the pork) so Tangerine could easily be fix this with a better filling to bread ratio. That being said - if I'm badly craving a banh mi and can't make it to the ID then this isn't a horrible option.

Worst service ever. We walked in and nobody even acknowledged us and we were the only people there. The girl at the front sat on her phone and after 15 minutes we left and she didn't even try and say anything. Seriously the worst service I've ever had.

I go here for lunch quite a bit... my favorites are the banh mi, fresh spring rolls and the vermicelli combo.. super yummy and always very fresh plus can't beat 3.99 for a sandwich! I generally don't eat in so I can't really comment on the service but my order is generally always ready for me when I pick it up which I like.

    Enjoyed two fantastic beef dishes.

Kind service and tasty vegetarian pho. (The price point tells me it might have MSG, but I still like it.) The 4-stars is for the pho. Other menu items are average, so I stick to the pho.

The pho was okay. The spring rolls were fair. They had the crunchy won tons in it, which I liked, but unless we had special requested cilantro and basil in them, they would have come without it. How bland. They charged us extra for the extra cilantro and basil, and charged us extra again for extra bean sprouts. Really, people? Your pho is already exorbitantly priced. Nine bucks for a bowl? YIKES! It wasn't that great. It was a big bowl of MSG, too. My joints hurt by the time I left, and when we got home, we both hit a pho msg coma. Not like. Not even their veggie pho didn't have MSG. Not winning. I won't be returning.

Had their chicken vermicelli - the meat was marinated really well, but I was expecting a lot more fresh veggies. There was barely and cucumbers and it had scraps of iceberg lettuce vs romaine.

OK i'm five starring this for the Vietnamese Porkchops and Fresh Salad rolls not the PHO. The porkchops are uncharacteristically marinated better than any v-joint i've eaten at. The fresh rolls have crunchy eggrolls in them. very good for a quick lunch or low key dinner. the lemon grass chicken and pho were ok - not as earth shattering as the items above. wll definitely be back. service is swift and friendly. free parking for 30 mins is a plus. you can dine and dash outta this tree and be happy ;)

  • Carolyn G.

Tried the spring-roll-and-a-porkchop as suggested by a recent reviewer. The crunchiness inside the roll was unique (and did I detect a hint of mint in there? If so, cool) and the pork chop was divine... But splashing out over $15 + tip for lunch? That's a tad much. Food was 4 stars, price 2.

I tried the sandwhich but they put no meat in their Sandwich, what a ripe off. Not worth ordering at all.

My top choice besides BaBar for bun noodles. The Pho is the best if you aren't trying to trek all the way to Than Bros. Haven't tried the Banh Mi but thats next on my list. Downer is the prices are higher than most other Vietnamese places. Also I paid 4.95 +tax for egg rolls but only received two. Granted, they were larger than normal but 4 regular sized ones you can get at Ballet just down the street for the same price is the better deal. The spring rolls are better portioned, still only 2 but they cut them in half to make 4 and are stil about the same length as a normal one and fatter. Plus they stay true to the Vietnamese style spring roll by adding crispy tofu in the mix. Customer service is great and the two people in the front are always friendly and kind.

Tangerine Tree is the ole standby to Pho Cyclo b/c a) it's 2 blocks away and b) it's open later than normal pho places. Or maybe I just think they're open later. So there's THAT. But also, they have really good tofu fresh rolls and their pho is yummy yummy in my tummy. I would like there to be more pieces of tofu in my pho, but I can't really complain - it's still warm, tasty, broth with veggie goodness floating inside of it. Also, they play ridiculous music. BTW, It'll be like walking back in time if you come here to eat...which I kind of love, and kind of hate - but makes for amusing background noise. So go visit and see what you think. As I said w/ another pho place, it ain't no Pho Cyclo, but it'll do when I'm in a bind!

My sister and I walked in and the woman running the front of the house immediately seemed rushed... even though there was only one other customer in the dining area. We sat down and had a chance to read the menu for a minute when the woman came to our table and asked what we wanted. I guess its a good thing we knew... Two orders of vermicelli and an order of spring rolls. The vermicelli was okay... definitely not the best I have ever had. It's close and convenient to me right now so I would say that is the only real plus.

Delicious, well seasoned short ribs. The green mango salad was surprising and refreshing. The young coconut gelatin and flan were to die for. Clean, quiet restaurant with parking, and the hostess was really nice.

  • Frank T.

Excellent meal! Fresh ingredients, superb blends, very reasonable prices but not the most attractive of presentations. Service is good not over bearing. The place is a bit hard to find because it is in a back corner (no visible sign from the street) of what looks like a run down strip mall but inside it is pleasant, clean and spacious. There is a nice outdoor patio to dine at when the weather is good which, I am told, is not often in Seattle.

I should preface this with: I really really wanted to like Tangerine Tree. It's close to home, in a prime location and seemed clean. Little did I know... We started with spring rolls with prawns. The rolls were average tasting and the sauce was OK. Still keeping an open mind, we proceeded to the pho and bun. The pho and bun prices were initially concerning, but the portions justify the price. I found the pho soup base overpowering and the bean sprouts came slightly wilted. The grilled pork bun was again average, but the fish sauce mixture was overpowering. In the interim we ordered a taro bubble tea since there wasn't any avocado or durian shakes on the menu. As a large warning to all - the bubbletea actually is served with jelly, NOT tapioca, nor is it tea, but more like a creamy slushie with flavouring. We order a banh mi to go as a last ditch effort to satisfy our Vietnamese cravings, but it turned out to be the last straw. The baguette was stale and hard to chew off, the meat was salty and sparse, there was hardly any hint of mayo and they threw in so much jalapenos that it scarred me for life. All this to say we won't be going back. Nor should you if you're looking for a cheap and tasty banh mi in this part of town.

This is one of the two of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle. One is this Tangerine Tree and the other is Longs in downtown. My office is close to the Tangerine Tree and I frequent here for lunch. Yes, the price is a little higher than the other Pho restaurants in town. But their pho tastes so clean, be it chicken, beef, seafood, or vegetarian. The broth is not overwhelming like other pho places and you won't get thirsty after eating it. Other dishes such as Seafood Noodle (fried), summer rolls, and bun are also very good. Curry was not the best, though. Lunch time is usually very busy but friendly in their own ways and many many repeaters. Recommended!

Have been here multiple times - service is okay, the food is great and the food comes to you quickly. It's always kind of stuffy in there but definitely a great little place to go.

  • Mandy B.

Good pho, I usually stick with the tofu veggie, average portions, broth is spot on, a little pricey (about $10 for a small) BUT I find myself going back over and over again just because of the super convenient location & the big parking lot, which beats paying & trying to find street parking most days. Haven't tried any of their other menu items, but it ranges from pho to stir fry to other traditional Vietnamese dishes.

This is one of the better pho places around Broadway. The ingredients taste really fresh and the large portion was huge, well mostly because they put a lot of noodles, but not a lot of meat. I like how they decorate this place with lots of lights and candles for a romantic evening and the service was top notch. It seems like she's an experienced call of duty player, who camps for the perfect opportunity to refill our water every single time. It seems like my group enjoyed the meal, especially our vegetarian, but the best part is that if you're a student and if you come in before 3PM I believe, you get 10% off your meal, which I did for one my Vietnamese sandwich which was okay.

I go with three stars because the glass of iced Vietnamese coffee came in a generous portion. I ordered the Tangerine Tree Vermicelli. It is a bowl of vermicelli noodles topped with lettuce, carrot, bean sprouts, bland grilled beef, shrimp, pork...and this...this thing. It was shaped like a small corn dog and was definitely processed something, maybe meat or even possibly seafood. At first I thought the "corn dog" had been mounted atop an animal bone, then realized it was a stick of sugar cane. In the end the vermicelli was okay, but there was too much lettuce. Miss Mixed Messages was my waitress. She was brusque and never asked me how my meal was. On the other hand, when she brought me my food, she took the liberty of shoving her ass into my shoulder. Huh? They've remodeled, into dark tones, since we were last here. Interesting background music (played at an astonishing low volume). I did hear them play Beethoven's Fur Elise and Laura's Theme from Dr. Zhivago.

My approach up to Tangerine Tree was a little awkward - a trio of Capitol Hill's ubiquitous homeless youth were hanging out in the stairwell. Truth is though, that these folks are cool if you're cool with them. Surely didn't turn me off, but others might take it differently. The restaurant was small, clean and pretty quiet for a pho place. The pho was very good - broth A+, noodles a little soft, beef was good and thin. I couldn't resist getting a banh mi to go. Sandwiches are $4 and only for take out. I went with the combo - ham and pate. Great vegetables, awesome bread.

  • Wendy L.

The pho is REALLY small! The take out portion was about the size of a soup mug. As for the flavor, I found that it was comparable to other pho places. The price for the portion is just not worth it. My boyfriend had the banh xue~ it was actually pretty good. The portion was generous and the flavor was sweet and salty. However, they only gave 1 piece of lettuce to wrap the banh xue in. I wouldn't pick this place over other options, but given the snow, the location and my sickness, it wasn't a complete disappointment.

I've seen this place several times when I shop, but never had a chance to try it. I'm glad I did... We ate pretty late because lots of other places were closed. Really liked the hours they kept... We had 2 Phos and 1 Bun... All was excellent. One of the Phos was vegetarian and I really liked the amount of actual veggies they gave you... It wasn't all noodle like I've seen at some restaurants. Price-wise, they were right on the mark... Very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. This place is now on my favorite Vietnamese list of restaurants... Thanks!

I love the Tangerine Tree. I have been to the Tangerine Tree about fifteen times. It is always delicious. I enjoy the way they cut the ingredients, the proportions of the ingredients, the flavors ability to saturate the tofu, and the overall sauce is amazing. I am referring to the Mongolian Tofu dish specifically. I have also tried the Lemongrass Tofu- which was good, but not as good as the Mongolian Tofu. I highly reccommend you try the Tangerine Tree.

I will give the restaurant 3 stars, but whoever owns the building 1 star, they only give you 30 minutes of free parking, no way you can eat dinner in 30 minutes. I totally understand if they want to charge people to park who aren't patronizing their businesses, but they should at least let the business owners validate if you are eating there. In this economy these rich property owners are just going to have to suck it in a bit like the rest of us. Any way, to the matter at hand. I enjoyed the food here. The sauce for the spring rolls beats the sauce at Moonlight Garden hands down. I still would like to return and try the Bun and the Pho, the vermicelli noodles with prawns and squid were very tasty though. The fried egg rolls at Moonlight Garden are better in my opinion, but you can't get takeout from one Vietnamese place to take in to another for the spring rolls and sauce at another. I will return here to try the Bun and Pho and will add my opinion on those.

Tiny Portions, Tiny Flavor, Huge Prices! Last night Pho was the only thing on my brain and since I didn't feel like driving to the International District or trying to Park on Broadway I thought I'd give this place a shot since it has it's own parking lot. BIG MISTAKE! It was 7.50 for a small! We got one chicken and one tofu to go. Upon arriving home I discovered that there were about 5 pieces of tofu in mine and 6 pieces of chicken in my boyfriends... seriously? The noodle and broth portions were much smaller than usual as well and the broth was flavorless! This is by far the worst pho I have ever had and the most I have ever paid for smalls! Oh and even though I called it in ahead of time I still had to wait when I got there. Never again!

    (1)
  • J. O.

I got the general tso's chicken, my girl got the curry tofu, and we shared some tofu rolls. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Excellent food. Very fast. Only gets three stars though, because the server never once came to our table to see how the food was, or to refill our empty wine glass, empty beer glass, and empty water glasses. Plus he was sneezing non stop. If you're sick, don't go to work and get everyone else sick. Especially in the food service industry!

I was not impressed. I have recently been on a hunt to try all pho places within walking distance from work and this one fell way short for me. Service was great, the interior is clean and pleasant. The location is good. But what I come here to rate is the food and prices. The pho is so freaking expensive. More than downtown. At least downtown gives you more despite higher prices. I got a small pho for $7.50, the larges are $8.95(holy smokes!). I am willing to pay this if you blow me away with your flavor and portion. Both of these sucked big time. Broth wasn't tasty, beef wasn't the greatest, and the portion is easily the smallest bowl of pho I have ever had. They certainly do not hook it up. Pho Le's down the street is only $5.35 for a medium, now that's a deal! And, their pho is way, waaay better tasting. Try the rare beef IMO. Anyway, Yes, I am a pho snob and proud of it. I've been eating it my whole life and will not be back here. I always tip if I eat in, because it's the service I'm tipping for, not the food. So, $7.50 plus tax and $.25 transaction fee, plus $1 tip came out to $9.50 for a small bowl of beef pho... Ouch!

  • Abmel A.

The Banh Mi was pricier than other places I've tried and not as good. It was too salty. Plus it was more bread then meat and other fillings. It was ok, but I didn't like that it cost more than other places that make it better and fill the sandwich more.

  • Suzanne M.

I love this place. I eat here all the time. Its take-out without the guilt. I get the lemongrass chicken. There are literally a hundred things on the menu, so I need to branch out. They are soooo fast. They always tell me "5 minutes." And its true! The employees, and I've interacted with many of them, are super nice as well. Fast, quick, inexpensive great! Just know i've never seen it very full at dinner, we only get take out from here because I don't like empty restaurants.

Not entirely impressed as I have been in the past... I could have done better at home with prepackaged frozen shrimp fried rice...

It's good! The pho isn't small. I couldn't finish my small portion! Also, their meat balls are the best I've had since moving to Seattle.

I've written about pho before and how I'm not really a die hard fan of it. Today the cloudy weather had me craving soup and pho was exactly what i wanted. Tangerine Tree to the rescue. I took my little sister for lunch here today, she had beef and I had chicken, as always. I'm starting to get the idea that no matter where I go a small bowl of noodles and broth is going to cost me 8 dollars. I'm cheap...but since this seems to be the going rate, I'll say it's a typical price to pay. I've actually been here before and have had their papaya salad which was amazing. The service is just right. They come, give you menus and water. After a few minutes they take your order, bring it back shortly after and then check on you once and let you eat your food in peace. I'd definitely come back for pho here. It was amazing. Yeah I actually said pho is amazing. It's that good.

Tangerine Tree has become one of my favorite non-splurgy restaurants in Capitol Hill. Meaning I can treat myself to dinner weekly and it costs the same as if I cooked a simple chicken dinner at home. Not much stuff on the menu costs more than $10 each for generous portions. The thing that impresses me the most is how clean this place is, and one of the main reasons I keep going back. I mean, it's practically spotless. I'm used to going to Asian restaurants and scoop the hot sauce out of those little lidded jars that look like they have never been cleaned. I hope nothing can grow in hot sauce. At Tangerine Tree, I've literally seen the guy clean under the rim of each jar and change the spoon, that hot sauce jar is sparkling. All of the cans of sodas are stored upside down in the fridge, I suspect so they don't collect dust. This place makes me embarrassed about my own cleanliness. The best food on the menu is the Tangerine Tree Special, which is a plate of rice with three skewers, one each of: grilled shrimp, grilled beef, and grilled chicken. All are flavorful and succulent. Other awesome things: Bo la lot (betel leaf wrapped beef, which adds almost a seaweed flavor, crispy, salty, and lightly sweet), green mango salad (like green papaya salad but more tart, also has cucumber and other vegetables), green papaya salad.

We were at the strip mall and have been wanting to give Tangerine Tree a try, so we popped in. Bun sounded good that evening so I didn't really even consider anything else. They did have some Chinese dishes on the menu, and the normal Viet dishes. I ordered the Tangerine Tree Bun. Basically a combo Bun with a Shrimp on sugar cane. The Bun was good, I enjoyed, but not amazing. The meat seemed to be cooked over a skillet instead of grilled, the veg a little lacking. But overall I did enjoy the bowl, it was large, std price, and location very convenient. Ya'd I'd say I would be back again, since this is an area I freq quite often.

Went to Tangerine Tree this past weekend to grab some banh mi. The sandwiches were pretty cheap and the fresh rolls were good. However, my partner discovered a black and yellow striped bug in the middle of his sandwich just as he was about to take a bite. We brought it to the attention of our server, who offered to bring another sandwich or send one to go. Grossed out, he declined and just asked for the check. I was taken aback when I found that the check reflected the price of the buggy sandwich. I asked to have the charge removed, which the server did, but trying to charge for an unsanitary sandwich was pretty bold move on their part. Really terrible experience overall. Would not recommend.

Nothing special. On a cold winters day that front door opening and closing all thru the meal is uncomfortable. Combo vermicelli fried rice is the worst I have seen. Boring rice with 2 miserably overcooked "combos" on the top. Really, folks! Just awful. As for the fried noodles with chicken, all I can say is, what chicken? Be careful of the parking lot in front. You get 30 minutes free. And whoever is patrolling that lot means business.

The best pho. Loaded with veggies (not just onions) and super cheap for the quality. The family that owns this place is super nice.

  • Talisha L.

Mixed beef pho was very tasty. Chicken in the chicken pho was kinda dry but the broth was good. Prawn/taro spring roll was kinda weird, taro was too mushy I think. But seriously, the fresh tangerine juice... wow... just wow. So refreshing and delicious! And they only charge .75 cents for tea, which makes me happy!

    (4)
  • Michael N.

I've been to this place say maybe 7-8 times and usually I go with the pho special. I don't exactly know if the pho here is that good considering I haven't tried many other places' pho, but its good to me! However, it is kind of pricey considering you can get it for a couple bucks cheaper elsewhere. I would stay away from the lemongrass dish as it just didn't captivate my taste buds.

Wow this is a hidden gem here on the hill I have seen this place many times as I park in the upstairs parking lot when I go to QFC but the other day the bf's like hey they have Pho, I was like really now and its good too he says. so we head over there to eat the other day, I have been like 3 times now and ever time I have tried different stuff, and I have been happy that we went there each time, I had heard a few horror stories from friends when I mentioned this place, but none of them have happened to me so I will keep going here I am sure, and there base for the Pho is damn yummy

The Mongolian beef I had was ok, and my wife was happy enough with the food, but I feel like this place was below average on the spectrum of Asian food. It wasn't over-priced or anything, and the servers and decor were fine, but I just left feeling like I'd eaten better Asian food elsewhere.

We eat a lot of Vietnamese and I have to say that Tangerine Tree is among the best. The Pho is great with rich broth and fresh ingredients. The salad rolls are especially good. The atmosphere is clean, warm and inviting AND there is parking! The owners are warm friendly and efficient. I eat there 2-3 times a week and don't plan going anywhere else.

For Pho, The Tangerine Tree is a solid 4. First, the service is very friendly and the restaurant is clean and pleasant. The menu is comprehensive, and everything I've gotten there has been fresh and delicious (fresh rolls, green papaya salad prawns, Pho, hot tea). I love the tofu Pho - it is in a chicken broth, but has tofu and a ton of really fresh delicious vegetables. I've been going to Than Brothers for a long time now - they have good Pho, but they lack with atmosphere, service and cleanliness. I always feel rushed there (which is fine, if I'm rushing!). The Tangerine Tree is my new spot though, because it's got it all! Plus, there is free validated parking in the garage below, if you need that. Definitely try this spot - you won't be disappointed! Cheers

Super low-key and friendly. Friendly staff and customers, food was good and portion size was very nice. A little bland for my taste but over all I would recommend this place as well as eat there again.

My first trip here was great. Since then it has been disappointing. The menu on their website shows prices that were much lower than they turned out to be when I picked up the food. The next time I got takeout, they had given our order to someone else. They told us they would remake it and it would be ready in 10 minutes. We came back in 10 minutes and they told us the person who they gave my order to returned the food, and they gave me that old food! After asking, they took a took a dollar or two off the $20+ order. It was enough to keep me from going back - unfortunately, because the food is not bad and it's close to my apartment.

I think this restaurant is a great deal and the food is good, too. They do charge you a quarter (or two?) if you use your debit/credit card and your bill is under $10, so bring cash if you plan to eat less than $10 and want to save the change. Service is overall good and the food comes out quick.

I give Tangerine Tree two very enthusiastic thumbs up! One for speed and the other for being speedy and incredible at the same time! My favorite dish here is the vegetable pho with the tofu and the tofu spring rolls. Every time I come to this restaurant the food is very fresh and the staff is professional and they always make sure my beverage glass is full of ice cold water. I would go to this place even if it wasn't in my neighborhood...I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

Saigon Pearl is no more! Over the past week, it's been remade into The Tangerine Tree. I haven't tried it under the new name yet, but hope little has changed. I give the late Saigon Pearl four stars for speed of service, proximity to my place of work, and consistently decent pho. Too much cabbage and carrots for my general liking, but it definitely always cured my pho cravings.

This hidden gem is a staple in our routine. Amazing staff, always very clean, and lemongrass chicken to die for (try the vermicelli bowl!). The broth in their Pho is always fantastic and hits the spot when the skies are gray and the typical Americanized-Chinese cuisine is 100 times better than Little Shanghai in the same complex. Simply cannot stress how much we love The Tangerine Tree!

    (5)
  • Wesh W.

Fairly rudimentary Vietnamese menu with some Chinese options thrown in as well. Some vegetarian selections. My spring rolls were completely uninspiring. My pho was neither good nor bad: just kinda' meh: a word which perfectly sums up my experience at Tangerine Tree.

  • Jay S.

Although a bit pricey compared to other Vietnamese restaurants around the area, Tangerine tree makes up for it with great service, and very tasty food. The seating is a bit cramped, but I am impressed by the decor and cleanliness. I recommend the Pho, lemongrass anything (chicken, beef) and their lunch salads: mango, papaya with chicken is refreshing and is perfect on a hot summer day. This is a very subdued place where people seem to talk in quiet tone, so if you plan on taking a date there or just want a relaxing environment Tangerine Tree will fit the bill.

Well this place just didn't really do much for me. Went here with a friend after he suggested it and left just not impressed with the food. The building is really nice, very well kept and clean. The waiter we had was nice and great at offering ideas on what we might like. The food was just not good. I got a beef dish and it had very little meat and looked almost fake! The veggies that came with it were very cold. My friend said his was just bland. Don't think I will venture back.

  • Eleazar J.

I was hoping I would love this place because of its proximity to my work and home but I must say I was not too impressed. The interior is very well decorated and very comfortable. The staff, friendly and attentive. The food was lacking in flavor. I am not a phan of pho but I do enjoy everything else. The price for me and my boyfriend was about 26.00. Thats a wee bit more than I usually want to spend but I will try it again and hopefully enjoy the food sooo much that I will crave it again ASAP.

Clean, quick and good. Wouldn't mind seeing the staff have a little more personality. Maybe it's just me, but I like to feel welcomed. Kind of makes me want to come back. Three stars because waitor sat down to eat while serving guests. Little unprofessional and seems a little unsanitary since their utensils go towards their mouths numerous times.

Great prices, fast, and clean are just the beginning. My gf and I stopped here before going out to a club for a quick bite. We ordered the salad rolls with pork and the shrimp satay. The rolls came out quickly, and where beautifully arranged. The rolls have a good balance of ingredients, flavors, and textures. The peanut sauce wasn't the standard boring peanut butter sauce, it had a nice tang along with notes of hoison. The shrimp satay arrived a few minutes later, still sizzling from the grill. The shrimp were whole headed and had a mild marinade on them. Another nice presentation as well. The shrimp were accompanied by a tasty fish sauce for dipping. It was a great experience and we'll be back!

i was craving a vietnamese sandwich and decided to grab one from here to ck it out. i just wanted to do a pick up since i had to get back to work so i called it in. the guy who took my order was pretty nice and i didn't know if they take credit cards for $4 sandwich but they did. i liked the sandwich...it was tasty but they need to put more stuff in it. i was mostly eatting bread. if i wanted to just eat bread, i woulda bought a loaf of bread from the grocery store. the place was nice and clean and the customer service was great. i'd go back to check the other stuff on their menu but for now this is my rating based on my first experience there.

The pho's not that great, but you're always guaranteed a seat. I've never gone there and had to wait. I have to disagree with Gregory C; I don't think it's *that* cheap. It's comparable to (better) pho places aka. Pho Cyclo in SODO. If you live on First Hill, and don't have a car (or are not willing to walk to Than Brothers), this is a passable alternative. But, if you do, try the other restaurants I mentioned.

My girlfriend loves the chicken pho here and the spring rolls, the server has always been super nice and remembers my name. Never had a long wait for our food. like the validation for the parking.

One word review for the veggie pho: weak. The best thing about this place is that it made me realize how much I took Pho Bac in the ID for granted. And if you're in Cap Hill and want pho/bun just go up to Pho Cyclo.

I like this place a lot. I almost always get the same thing so can't say too much about their large menu -- but what I get -- egg noodles with tofu -- is good. They're friendly and super fast. Spring rolls were a bit overly greasy.

Solid Vietnamese food from friendly folks. Service is efficient and speedy. I usually get the vermicelli with lemongrass tofu. Restaurant is bright and cheery. They also have great tofu salad rolls.

WOW! This place is looking tres chic with it's fancy white dishes and it is mighty clean to boot! I could probably eat off the floor it is so clean. But don't worry I wont. The few times I've been here I've ordered the rare beef pho and all three times it has been amazingly sooooo yummy! The price might be a little bit more then I usually pay but the beef is so very tender and not all chewy. I'm not sure if mama Ling Ling is in the back bangin the hell out of her meat to make it so tender or they just buy better quality of beef. I've also had a nibble of Boobers (Robert S.) mongolian chicken and that was mighty yummers too. I would give the place 5 stars but they don't have cream puffs. *In fob accent* So yeah if mama Ling Ling make dis honolawee fob cleam puff mama Ling Ling get da 5 stah.

I wish I could write more about this restaurant but, when I used to live down the street from it, I only ordered the same thing over and over again: some kind of tomato and tofu stir fry. It was really, really good. I wish this review was funnier. I think I'm getting sleepy.

Relatively inexpensive and good. I came here often when I worked nearby for the lemongrass tofu. My sole gripe was the atmosphere... the flourescent lighting, not-so-comfortable seating, and bad soft pop tended to spoil the mood. Great if you get it to go, though...

The Saigon Pearl, located just above the QFC on Capital Hill, is a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant with a low-key atmosphere and great eats at low prices. Their Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup) is great and their service equally good. I don't recommend their Bubble Tea, but the Pho is good.

A little hole in the wall pho joint conveniently located next to the ups store and a drugstore. With a wide selection of food choices I've only had the chicken bowl with added vegetables! It's quite delicious, I add in the sauces to my liking. What I especially love about this place is the fresh coconut water, It comes with fresh coconut meat in the water! It's pretty amazing. Tangerine Tree is also affordable. Every-time I've eaten here, I always have the same sweet waitress! :) Definitely coming back here and I recommend to my friends and to you!!!

Considering your options are limited to Ballet and this place on Capitol Hill, when it comes to Vietnamese, you got a decent all around place. Obviously ID and other parts of Seattle have way better options, but it is reasonably priced, has friendly service and decent food. I recommend it if you are in the area. Otherwise, go to other parts of Seattle for better Vietnamese.

Everything is pretty good here. I love their stuff squid dish. Their mango salad was good but the mango was on the ripe sweet side not sour green like I would prefer. Vermicelli bowls are good too.

Good bah-mi, terrible service! I went into this place to order a sandwich to go and the hostess at the desk barely looked up from her phone to toss a menu at me. She rudely asked the people sitting at a table if they were done. When I pulled out my card to order, she was very quick to let me know about the card surcharge and pointed to the sign on her register. Due to her rudeness, I figured I would just go, but then she removed the charge. I figured she was just rude to everyone and chalked it up bad service or a bad day, but then two older, well -dressed white women came in and her attitude immediately switched. Suddenly she was attentive and smiling. Not ok. It's obvious she only thought it was important to give good service to some customers (customers who look like they might have more money to spend) and not to others. The food was good, but I won't be back. I'm not going to give my money to a place that treats me like a a second class citizen.

I had to call ahead to be sure they were open, because I came here a month ago around 6pm for dinner but for no apparent reason they closed right as I got there. The nice thing about this place is they are situated above QFC which means there is a big parking lot (free 30 mins). The food was pricier than other Vietnamese establishments but at least I could tell the vegetables they used were fresh and clean. My only issue with this place is their poor business practices that ensued when the server/owner lady found out that we were using a $50 restaurant.com gift card. I noticed her speaking in another language (Vietnamese I presume) to the employees in the kitchen, but my experience wasn't ruined until another customer sitting behind me helped me translate what was being said: she was constantly reminding the cooks to reduce the portion size because we'd be ordering a lot of food through a voucher! I'm assuming they treat "regular paying customers" more equally but regardless I still couldn't believe what I heard especially since honestly it was redeemable for only three entrees anyway :/

I just went here to get stir-fried noodles. There was probably enough noodles for three good bites...the portion is so small (especially for a $13 price tag)! The service is also not very good--it seems like they are doing YOU a favor by taking your order and preparing your food. And the chicken in my stir-fry was really gross tasting. I don't think I'll ever come back again. (Now that I've read the other reviews, I think I know why my portion was so small. Since it was a to-go order, I didn't leave a tip and did notice that she made a face. I didn't realize, however, that this would mean she would give me less food!)

Decided to try out the place since it's so close to work. Got there around dinner time (6ish) and it was about half full. It's kind of dim but the place overall is really clean compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. I had the vermicelli rice noodles with grilled pork and an egg roll and it was pretty delicious. Pretty satisfying! The only knock I have against Tangerine Tree is the price. I paid a little more than $10 after tip. They do charge you an extra .50 cents if your order was under $10. It's not a deal breaker, but I figure that should be noted. Overall, good place I would come back.

Starting with the food... My chicken vermicelli smelled exactly like poop. I thought I was being crazy at first and didn't say anything, but my friends started saying they thought someone popped their pants....nope it was my food. I couldn't eat a single bite. My friend had his sesame chicken drowning in a slop of high fructose corn syrup. None of us could eat our food.... Sitting here at the restaurant and compelled to write a review while here still because the woman working the dining room is extremely apathetic and rude. Haven't had a wait staff person like this in a while. She makes you feel like you've done something cruel to her, as if being here is a big bother. Won't be coming back. Watch out for the hateful, careless glares you'll get if you come here...because you most definitely are not welcome. And you don't want your food smelling like poop do you?

I wanted something "light" for dinner. I ordered the Tangerine Tree pancake, an appetizer, which, according to the menu consists of a rice flour/egg shell with "pork, shrimp, shitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, onion and covered with coconut milk." Mine had NO shitake mushrooms, onion or coconut milk. I asked the hostess/cashier about it and we played a version of "Who's on first." She kept saying no shitake mushroom and I was saying "yes, there were no shitake mushrooms." She was of the opinion that the pancake didn't come with the mushrooms, despite the evidence of the menu. The pork in the dish consisted of six pieces of pork with the dimensions of 2 inches by 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch. The shrimp consisted of 2 medium shrimp, sliced horizontally. All for $10.92, including tax. The hostess/cashier charged me the full price and took a menu and crossed off "shitake mushrooms." What a joke. BEWARE!

I had only had take out from here in the form of delicious, delicious Bahn mi sandwiches. Recently I was able to amend that, and on recommendation from a friend I also got spring rolls-- these are amazing. Most have pretty similar ingredients, but Tangerine Tree kicks theirs up with a rolled crisp fried spring roll wrapper? Won ton bit? It is a great texture contrast. The peanut sauce is great, too. Ingredients taste and look fresh and blend really well. I'm looking forward to trying more on the menu! Beer and wine only.

So I'm coming from not eating all day so I decided to try this Vietnamese restaurant. I was a bit skeptical at first because it's actually kind of hard to find. You have to go to the second floor of the building and it is right above the QFC, so not at street level despite the sign being there. The place is pretty small but still gives off a nice ambient atmosphere. The service here is incredibly nice. The waitress here is very thoughtful and talking with her is very pleasant. It's very small but very well organized; the waitress was constantly tidying things up, not to the point of being distracting, but just keeping things clean while also keeping an eye on the door. I had the vermicelli noodles combo and it was absolutely delicious. There were a lot of vegetables which given I needed my greens was a welcome sight. Will definitely be coming back here for the service!

First time here. The place was completely empty when I got there but people started trickling in once it got closer to dinner time. The restaurant was fairly small with an ambient atmosphere and dim lighting. I like how everything was well organized and pretty darn clean! The prices here were a little higher than the average Vietnamese/Pho restaurant. Also all of the appetizers came in pieces of 4 so the option of ordering a cheaper and smaller dish was not available. When I tried to place an order, the waitress was in the corner eating and had her mouth full so she simply nodded after I told her what I wanted. Also the service was nonexistent- no water refills, no checking up to see how the food was, etc. The food was good. I'm always a fan of Pho on a cold winter's day. I got a small chef's special. A small here is actually a small! Usually a small at a Pho place is a regular since there's no option for a medium. The size simply jumps up to a large. If you want a quick and relatively cheap meal, this is the place to come. Though don't expect the biggest bang for your buck or the best customer service.

The food here is not bad but their pho broth is really salty and full of msg. They also have a really limited selection of meat, they didn't have fatty flank or tripe. It's also kind of pricey, $8.50 for a bowl Pho places are very common in capital hill and this one doesn't really stand out compared to the others. Their biggest draw is that they have free parking because they are attached to the qfc.

We were meeting some out of town friends here for supper. Pretty much everyone either got pho or bowls of some kind to eat. I got the Sesame Chicken. The chicken was actually very good but portions are kind of skimpy. I was done before anyone else was by a long shot. Steve tried some of my chicken and enjoyed it and said that it was better than the bowl he was having which I only had a small sampling of. The waitress was pretty friendly at first but she was leaving before the place closed and kind of was trying to dismiss us as quick as she could. We wanted to order dessert and went ahead with the remaining waitress there. We got a fried banana with sticky rice which also was very good. When it came time to get our bills we asked early on to have three seperate bills but this element of information did not carry over between the two waitresses. It was not a huge problem when we got one bill but it was a bit confusing for those of us who are mathematically challenged. So in the end the experience here was hit and miss. Some things were good while others need some work.

A-OK. Mediocre food and service. I liked the fact that Tangerine Tree has two size options for pho. The broth was okay and noodles are okay as well. Spring rolls were good. 4 large pieces of spring rolls were very fresh. I enjoyed the Vietnamese Coffee the most. Not too sweet (you know that Vietnamese coffee can be very sweet). They didn't use the pre-mix. Service was kinda disappointing. Nobody really cared whether everything was okay or not while I was eating. The worst part was this - I asked for a to-go box for my leftover spring rolls. The lady took the plate and put the rolls in a plastic bag. I really want to believe that the plastic bag is specifically designed for storing food... I'm sure they have to-go boxes because I saw someone picking up her food stored in boxes. Certainly, it wasn't sexy to carry around two spring rolls in a plastic bag on my way home. I hope nobody thought I was carrying around a bag of dog poop.

Small, inexpensive place in Capitol Hill that serves tasty Vietnamese/Chinese/Thai food. The restaurant is ABOVE the QFC, next to two more hipsterish establishments. It is hard to make a comfort food restaurant more then 3 stars. By definition, comfort foods are not fancy or expensive. The proprietors focus more on foods than services, decor, or desserts. Unfortunately, it takes some of those for me to rate any eatery 4 or more stars. As Vietnamese ones go, this one is the one that I will go to whenever I have a craving. Whatever on the menu suits the mood, but I will go for the grilled skewer dishes, particularly prawns.

I have been coming here for years and absolutely love their food. Their spring rolls are the best I've ever had. whenever I'm in Seattle, I make sure to stop here, and get some food. super delicious and the family is very nice

Ate dinner there last night. Got up this morning suffering from upset stomach and diarrhea. Food was below average quality and overpriced. Ambiance is poor and so was service. Would not go back again.

Love the Pho Fast, flavorful and quaint. A small Vietnamese restaurant tucked above the QFC in Harvard Square that hits the mark every time. Good food and service.

Great food and reasonable price for cap hill. Could not ask for a more kind waitress. The Vietnamese sandwiches are amazing (as all always are)!

It was priced a bit high. I've been a couple times, none of the food was outstanding and service was okay. I'd rather eat at other vietnamese in seattle but the location is convenient and it was clean and had decent variety

Thought I was unlucky at the first time so I decided to try this place again. foods were bad, staffs were grumpy and starring at customers while we were eating, the foods came in in really small portion but overly expensive compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. I hate this place.

Small, inexpensive place in Capitol Hill that serves tasty Vietnamese/Chinese/Thai food. The restaurant is ABOVE the QFC, next to two more hipsterish establishments. Service was quick and food was good. The restaurant is spotless and the lights add a bit of atmosphere. I liked the drunken noodles very much.

  • Sarah H.

Kind service and tasty vegetarian pho. (The price point tells me it might have MSG, but I still like it.) The 4-stars is for the pho. Other menu items are average, so I stick to the pho.

  • Michelle F.

  • Lor B.

  • Lily S.

Cheers

Fairly rudimentary Vietnamese menu with some Chinese options thrown in as well. Some vegetarian selections. My spring rolls were completely uninspiring. My pho was neither good nor bad: just kinda' meh: a word which perfectly sums up my experience at Tangerine Tree.

Just had dinner here for the first time - vegetarian pho with mock chicken. Considering how close this is to my apartment and how tasty the soup was, I think I'll be coming back often!

I LOVE Tangerine Tree's Pho. I think it's the best in the entire city!

Relatively inexpensive and good. I came here often when I worked nearby for the lemongrass tofu. My sole gripe was the atmosphere... the flourescent lighting, not-so-comfortable seating, and bad soft pop tended to spoil the mood. Great if you get it to go, though...

make sure your to-go order is what u actually ordered before taking off. open box and make them watch you check your food, it will save lots of time if they get your order wrong.
