Small place but great if you catch it when it's slow. Has a hip but quaint vibe. Had THE best chocolate chip cookie of my life!

I love this place. Very mellow clean and good. I love their pastries and coffees. Very romantic and relaxing. I had hot chocolate tonight that was creamy and tasty. My favorite pastry is the lemon cake. Tart and sweet and makes me very happy. My second favorite is the chocolate tart/cake thing. Soooo rich and awesome. They have an amazing attitude and strong mission statement. Plus this place is beautiful inside.

As a true "coffee snob" this place is as good as it gets. The concept, beans and service are second to none. Abandon Starbucks all ye people and support these guys!

One of the best cappuccinos I've had. Most times when you use almond milk, it ruins the taste but it was amazing still. My girlfriend loved her caramel sea salt latte. She's not a coffee drinker normally, but she loved it. Great first Seattle coffee experience.

Great coffee, nice-looking venue. I had a cappuccino, which I recommend.

Not the best coffee I've ever had, but the ambience and service were superb, so it went from a 2.5 to a 3.5. Ambience: Fantastic. Classic coffee shop vibe with large window seating. Their branding and color choice is also fantastic and make the vibe that much better. Service: Great. The baristas behind the bar were very friendly and knowledgeable in helping my friend order the perfect drink, an iced vanilla latte. Drink: Mediocre. My latte was mostly milk with a shot of espresso, although the art on top was beautiful. Price: The latte originally cost $4, and was not really worth that. Would not be my first coffee shop recommendation, especially if you're looking for strong caffeine.

Have now gone to Storyville Coffee twice, and perfect lattes each time. Incredibly creamy and smooth. Location was great for me (stayed next store on first visit, and across the street on second visit), friendly service and love the decor. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars, is because it's a little expensive, but other than that top notch! I will definitely be back.

I love everything about this place! Easily the best coffee in Seattle. My favorite treat is their soy caramel latte. The caramel is homemade and the coffee has a lovely rich flavor. I've had their granola and it is top notch. Just today I was offered a free sample of a salted caramel pastry and it sent me over the moon! It's hard to beat the perfect combos of buttery sweet and salty, crispy edges, gooey middle-just wow! The entire staff is friendly and welcoming! You can't go wrong here!

The interior is really well done and very attractive! It's a great place to hang out and relax with a book or friend and a cup of coffee/espresso/latte/choose your poison. The mocha is really nice and subtle with its notes of chocolate and espresso (a la the typical mocha). The Americano was much too watered down for my taste. The aroma was really great with promises of a brilliant, nutty taste explosion. However, the ratio of hot water to espresso seemed to be skewed and the espresso flavor was too light to be enjoyed. All in all, a wonderful experience. Storyville is a great place to taste one of Seattle's finest in downtown!

My husband and I decided to try this place since it just opened. We LOVE our coffee and espresso and like to find new places that can satisfy our coffee-obsessed palates. All I have to say is this place is.....amazing! The atmosphere is very industrial, yet very inviting with lots of inlaid wood and brick detailing. My favorite was the tiger eye wood inlaid into the bar. The baristas were all very knowledgeable, and very nice. They were always going around picking up dishes and cups and even offered to get us water. Even as we were leaving, they wouldn't let us bring up our own dishes. My vanilla latte was heavenly (golden corona and angelic choir included). They only offer three flavors: vanilla, mocha, and caramel which are all made in house. I also had a ham and cheddar pastry which tasted like a unicorn prancing through a field of glitter.....pretty much effing magical. The only negative side to this coffee shop would be that is a little pricey. We paid $20 for two drinks and two pastries. However, everything at this place is more epic than a Tolkien book which helps to take away some of the guilt at paying so much. We will definitely come again....maybe make it our weekend place to eliminate some of the costliness of partaking in this place of magic and grandeur. You would be smart to at least try this once. If not, I hope you are drawn and quartered and poop monsters dance on your rotting bones!

Ordered a cappuccino, a bit milky for my taste. The staff is super friendly and the interior is really nice. I love the quote on the wall "Love everybody, never ever hurt anybody."

  • Rebecca K.

Finally, wonderfully delicious coffee and equally wonderfully friendly baristas downtown close to my office. They make their syrups in-house and the vanilla has a bourbon blended in with it that is subtle yet amazing. I was chatting with the Barista while I waited for my turn and when it was time to pay she bought my coffee AND macaroon. And the macaroons by the way, To. Die. For. I will definitely be going back not only for the coffee but also to check out the rest of their pastries as they all looked soooo good!

Love this place and location! Best coffee I've had in a while. Lemon cake was nice and fresh. My new favorite stop to and from the ferry.

My husband and I traveled to Seattle from NYC in search of the perfect cup of coffee. We found it and so much more at Storyville. Each time we visited during our stay in the Emerald City, the baristas remembered us and made us feel right at home. The cafe is stunning and relaxing all at the same time. Be sure to read the quotes on the walls while waiting for your java, great reminders to what life is all about. Brilliant in every way. Cheers to a wonderful cup of coffee and company.

Incredibly friendly staff and excellent cappuccino! On top of that, buying coffee helps support organizations working against the sex trade. Found my new place!

Service was great. It's amazing how well the sparkling water they give you REALLY cleans the palette after you drink the coffee.

On a recent trip to Seattle, I drank a lot of excellent coffee at independent coffee shops, but the best was at Storyville. The minimalist menu tells you that they're serious about coffee. My barista recommended a cappuccino, and it was outstanding. Nice decor and a friendly vibe.

  • Justin H.

I love Storyville coffee, and will forever rate every location as five stars just for that reason. This location, unfortunately, has very limited space which is a problem because their coffee (which is either French Press or Espresso-based) is best enjoyed in-store.

  • Elizabeth D.

Happened by this place on an evening walk. I ordered a split cappuccino, ordering decaf is a risky business but I do it anyway and am often disappointed. This was good! Unfortunately, my cappuccino was definitely a latte. Which was sad. It was a good latte but not a cappuccino. This happens, I don't order cappuccinos a lot because it seems that many baristas do not know how to really foam the milk and I end up with a creamy latte. I don't blame the barista, i assume cappucinos are not ordered a lot and that no one trains you for them?? I also rarely ask a barista to remake a drink because I am a seattlite and any hint of direct communication terrifies me. Anyway, I was only in for a moment but the baristas were very friendly (not in your face friendly though). I also bought some sodas, which were pretty lovely. I plan to go back and if I order a cappucino (I probably won't?), I'll ask for it extra dry, so no confusion.

I went here when they first opened and was blown away. I wanted a chai tea latte but they didn't have chai =[ however! The barista suggested a drink much like chai (was it earl gray with sugar and milk? I cant remember!) And it tasted amazing(and surprisingly really close to what chai tastes like)!

I love this place - it's cozy and warm and an upscale coffee shop. I really like their cappuccinos - very smooth.

Nice corner spot just out of the way of the touristy bits of pike place market. Had a great cup of coffee and did some people watching. Friendly staff, and a clean space; recommended.

  • Vishal A.

Amazingly smooth espresso. Add some milk (or even some chocolate if you're feeling adventurous) and you're in for a treat! The service is incredible and this place has the ambience down to a tee.

  • Craig R.

Close to perfect. Gorgeous shop, gorgeous pastries made on site. The best espresso drinks you can imagine. I only wish it had some big cushy chairs to sink into.

  • Paige M.

Nearly everything about this coffee shop is, in my opinion, perfect. First off, the coffee meets the standard Seattle has set for coffee, aka great. The location is easily accessible, the interior is classy and the big windows allow for as much natural light as possible. The staff greeted me in a genuine and friendly manner, and the workspace facing the window is big enough to actually work on. The ONLY drawback? It was very cold in there, uncomfortably so. I guess it helped me stay focused though.

New location so I stopped in on my way to work. Asked for a 16-ounce Americano. I was informed they have no cups that large. The reason for this is because they "want to concentrate on espresso." I'm not sure what that means. So I got an 8-ounce Americano. For $3. The 16-ounce would have cost $6. Back to the real reason I went in: coffee. Unremarkable. It was good but not any better than the plethora of other coffee -- oops, sorry, espresso -- shops lining First Avenue.

Best chocolate cake I have ever had. Will be dreaming about it tonight. Good coffee as well!

    (5)
  • John B.

Even better than the coffee and the free homemade warm amazing chocolate cake they were serving (which I believe was something special on that day), was the amazing service. Extremely friendly, helpful, brought everything to our table and then cleaned our table, and all with a smile. It was clear they care greatly about the quality of food and their customers.

  • Helen N.

Had their cold brew & french press. Our barista recommended having the cold brew served as a latte with a hint of vanilla. We've no regrets letting her have her way with our coffee. I had the french press with just a bit of cream. As coffee connoisseurs, we highly recommend this place. Their coffee was excellent.

  • Tiffany T.

Ambi: Lovely! High-class feel - it's quiet with lovely relaxing morning music for a soft wake up. mostly natural light with splashes of low orange designer hue. The music dominates the conversations keeping the ambiance surreal. Nice leather chairs and sofas. Service: Kind, soft, professional. Soy Mocha: Velvety!!! his top design was a lovely rippled heart and the texture is amazing!! Note: Pricy - $5.50 for the 'here' mocha cup

Storyville was across the street from my hotel, so I figured I would stop in. Thought it was a busy morning, I was nicely greeted when I walked in. The smell of coffee was fantastic, and the design of the place was amazing! It took about 6 minutes for them to brew me some dark roast coffee, but I am glad I waited because it was delicious. I hear there is lots of drama surrounding this brand in the area (due to Gay and Lesbian rights), but since I dont live here, I wont hold it against them. Good stuff!

  • Cassie G.

Five stars because it's all that a coffee shop needs to be. That and the fact when I asked for a glass of water, to my surprise, it was sparkling! If you know me well, you know I prefer sparkling to still and this was a big, albeit simple, win. I ordered a macchiato while my dad went for an americano. The staff was super friendly, asking with our plans for the day and providing recommendations. We decided to quickly grab a stool by the window so I could down my drink (and take a pretty picture) before we split for a tour. I would love to hang out here and do some work. The large windows let in a lot of light and it just has a cozy feel to it. I also kinda sorta love their logo! Storyville has another fan!

  • Inna B.

The coffee seems a little expensive, but it's delicious and this is a good place to work (on a laptop) for a couple hours... Why is it a good place to get some work done? I have so far always had luck finding a window seat next to an outlet (drained laptop battery = bad) and the wifi hasn't failed me yet. It's also nice to look up and check out some cool buildings every once in a while. People watching can also be fun! I don't think I would choose this location for just relaxing or having a meeting, though. It's a bit small and the big downtown location has a couch! What else, what else? Hmmm... I'm pretty sure they have a well-maintained restroom? This may not seem like a huge deal, but it can be an important thing if you're not sure about your next destination (or the destination is far away)...

  • Suann G.

Staying at the Hotel 1000 across the street, we stopped in for breakfast and a coffee because of the reviews I read on Yelp. The place is very small with only a few seat, but we were able to snag a few by the window. The service was fantastic. Very nice baristas. I had a soy vanilla latte. My husband had the soy latte and my son tried their mocha. All of the drinks were fantastic. I tried the croissant for breakfast, and it was also very good. Highly recommend Storyville!

  • Tyler L.

A trip to Seattle isn't complete without at least one stop to Storyville and one stop to Top Pot Doughnuts. Now if I could get them in the same place...that would be heaven. Just a very solid cup of coffee and a place that is very protective of the real Seattle coffee experience (whatever that is, cozy and personal, I guess?).

    (4)
  • Karen J.

Very classy place. Super neat and a great atmosphere to relax with a cup of coffee or get some work done. The coffee was also excellent! I definitely suggest trying more coffee places like this than big chains like Starbucks.

Storyville, your story is truly worth telling. She is a small and quaint little shop a few blocks from the overly populated Pike Pl Market. She is an adorable lil thang, consisting of 3 circular standing tables and sitting tables seating 13-15 ppl, give or take. I ordered the Soy Mocha and oh gosh, it was heavenly. The foam art was poured as I ordered. The art stayed in place until the very last drop of coffee was slurped from my mug. A salted chocolate chip cookie was given on the house. It was equally delicious. Moist on the inside and crunchy on the exterior, sprinkled with some sea salt magic. To top it off, we were served chocolate cake! Apparently, Storyville staff bake treats at randomized hours of the day and serve that to its customers for free to show their appreciation! How amazing is that? That, my friends, is how you win over the hearts of your customers. Reciprocated love here folks.... (One side giving more love ) Quality stuff. Delicious coffee. Not-overly-sweet desserts. I think I am in love. There is total confirmation as to why Seattle is one of the best cities for coffee. A great place to relax and/or study!

  • Brooke S.

Best coffee in town! Baristas are very knowledgable with what they have to offer and help new customers decide on something they will like. My personal favorite is their version of the French press or a cortado if I'm looking for a milk drink. The food is or of this world! They bake everything fresh every couple of hours to guarantee the quality of a pastry you may be craving. Storyville is always a stop have to make when I'm in Seattle!

  • Adriana R.

The vanilla latte was so good that I had to order another one. The vanilla is hommemade and its my favorite latte in the city thus far. I also ordered the breakfast sandwich which was on point. Storyville is a must.

Cold brew latte with house made vanilla syrup is great! Also had a lemon muffin Everything is either house made or local. Great concept!

My husband and I were in Seattle for the day and we wanted to take some of their caramel rolls to go. Because we stopped by later in the afternoon, the inventory was low in the Pike Place location so we visited this branch and picked up what they have left. Their pastries are delicious!! We also tried their cinnamon rolls and chocolate cake and they were heavenly.

  • Arash A.

Fantastic coffee! Loved the cappuccino. The pastry selection was sparse but the excellent coffee and happy workers made up for it. Wish it had comfy chairs to lounge at in addition to the window bar stools. Love their logo too, but despite the name it seems there's no story behind it.

  • Seattle F.

It's so small! They have 14 uncomfortable seats. Not ideal for sitting and relaxing. Tables are not wiped. Pastry flakes on all table surface.

Staff is super friendly. Helpful for out of towners. Latte is best in the area. Breakfast sandwich is a little small but flavorful and combines well with latte.

This place is so rad! Although a little under the radar because of the super sweet Storyville up the street on Pike, this place still is worth coming to. Parking can be tough to find and it's not free unless you come on Sunday. This place has free wi-fi for those studying and the decor inside is crazy cool. Employees are chill and super friendly. I love sitting at the booths while drinking my coffee and watching the hustle and bustle of the city life. Tips. Definitely get the mocha and try the treats. They are delightful! Also get a window seat to people watch. All in all super cool place. Check it out.

Geez, another coffee joint that I know I'll be addicted to! I'm such a coffee whore! I loveee their coffee here, it's almost like Ladro and Vicace. I can't really pin point the difference, which is good and in a good way. Will be coming here more often now and is definitely on my favorite list.

Storyville coffee & those mouth-watering thoughts for your sea-salt caramel rolls. At night, I dream of these elegant made pastries. Crisp shell, soft baked center and bread... Anyways, we ordered a cappuccino, lemon cake, sea salt caramel heart, and a sea salt caramel. Sat down to enjoy Seattle. Never a disappointing moment here. 20 minutes roll by, and we get asked if we would like to enjoy their new chocolate cake! Yay! Delicious. Yes, Storyville coffee, I love you & am always available to be your guinea pig. Downtown Storyville is smaller, but still a very chic and modern decor. Nice comfortable ambiance.

prices are pretty decent, but I was underwhelmed by the coffee itself. had an iced americano which was a bit weak, in my opinion and not particularly flavorful. FANTASTIC atmosphere, though.

  • Dean L.

All I've had here is a double tall latte and a chocolate cake thing, but the latte put Fourbucks to shame, and the sweet was rich and delicious. Importantly, we unknowingly arrived at closing, yet they graciously treated us as if there was nowhere else they'd rather be. Enjoy the clean, modern, warm wood environment while you sip as good a latte as you'll find anywhere.

Great coffee, friendly service, and trendy ambiance make this place a must have coffee place in your back pocket when the craving hits. They make killer coffee and have a good assortment of pastries, and is just a nice place to sit and enjoy a properly made espresso drink, Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area!

Gorgeous location with wonderful coffee! The location is clean with a beautiful image of a boy & his toy airplane to be seen everywhere. The baristas are kind and knowledgeable and demonstrate their latte art making in front of you. Pricey, but worth it for the experience.

Revision/Update: The review has been updated to reflect the coffee shop on 1st Ave, and not the one by Pike Place Market. I've been to both locations and I accidentally mixed the two reviews. Overall, I give the shop on 1st Ave a rating of 3.5 stars. I bumped it up to 4 stars since Yelp doesn't allow for half stars and a 3 rating was too low. The atmosphere is modern and it's an interesting place to meet up with friends. The location is fairly small (compared to the one by Pike Place) and the chairs weren't terribly comfortable. However, the baristas were very friendly and welcoming. I intially ordered the espresso shot, which was very strong and bitter. I liked the coffee but it may have been a bit too much for me. The barista kindly offered me a glass of water. Once my friend's arrived, I ordered a latte, which was much better for my tastes.

Another review by BAM. OK OK. Whatever you do, get the fresh baked chocolate chip cookie with sea salt at Storyville... It's da'kine! Storyville is the reason I enjoy coffee now. You know, I've enjoyed my matcha... the tea ceremony green tea. I love the ritual. The special hand-thrown ceramic bowl. The 120 pronged bamboo whisk. The "w" agitated whisking motion that you learned on YouTube. It got it going on. Then for our anniversary, my Baby bought me the small French Press from Storyville, next to that amazing boutique hotel the Alexis. Dang. Now I'm hooked on da' bean. They roast their bean to provide a medium body with a smooth, non-acidic finish. They know how to throw down, with their own coffee ritual, when they got your coffee in their French Presses. It's about the effort they put into your cup. The right bean. The correct roast. The ceramic grinder. The timer. Waiting 60 seconds to experience the "bloom". Their stores are beautiful. Wooded interiors, rounded corners, cush seating. Feels like..."Oh yeah...I definitely chill in here fo' a long bit." Don't miss it. It's a visit while you are in Seattle. Tourist or not.

Some of the best coffee I have ever had. Blue Bottle in SF is my favorite but this place is a close second. To top it off, beautiful store with great service. I travel to Seattle for work weekly and usually stay at the W on 4th. Wish I had a place closer to my hotel so I did not have to walk 3 blocks downhill/uphill :)

I have enjoyed my coffee experience, although they are a chain store but they have very unique indy vibes all around. I truly believe that barista are the soul of a café. Andrew and Jaret, the two amazing barista I met, raised my coffee experience in Seattle at whole another level. They were not hesitate chatting their experiences with me and shared me many other cafe insights. And of course the coffee was fabulous, and they are strict with their coffee quality themselves and refused to serve me those they feel unqualified. The environment is comfortable. I expect nothing more from a café. They are certainly the soul of this cafe.

I wandered in here after lunch with a coworker the other day just looking for an ice coffee. It was convenient considering I was standing right in front of it. Needless to say, we went in and got our coffees. The service was fine. There were two people behind the counter. Nobody else was in the place. It was very well put together for a coffee shop with some higher end coffee paraphernalia along with t-shirts and mugs. The ice-coffee appeared to be cold-pressed which is good. And it tasted fine. All this probably seems like a set up for a giant "but" and here it is. When my friends saw that i checked into the place they informed me that the owners are people who are heavily involved with the Mars Hill church in Seattle. (For those not from Seattle, Mars Hill is an evangelical neo-Calvinist church that has some very sketchy beliefs about women and homosexuality.) For some, what the owners of a business do with their money might not matter. For others, myself included, it does. Hobby Lobby, Chik-Fil-A, etc. matter. It also is weird that the owners essentially deny the affiliation instead of just owning it. So, even thought I had a good experience, I ended up feeling very conflicted about it, and won't go back. If you want to know what I'm talking about, here is the link. thestranger.com/seattle/…

This place is amazing! My husband and I came in here to warm up with a cup of coffee. I had the macchiato and oh my goodness!!! I was not even ready for the yummiest drink before me. It was so rich and smooth. I am not a huge coffee drinker at all, but it made me want another. My husband had an americano and he said it was the best coffee he's had in a long time. The shop is very clean and beautiful. It's a nice place just to relax. The employees are very kind and professional. We were so lucky that they gave everyone that was in there a piece of warm chocolate cake. Sooooo yummy. If you're in Seattle, swing in.

Our last day in Seattle my boyfriend and I were walking from Pike Place to Pioneer Square and saw Storyville Coffee in the distance. I had read the good reviews on yelp and pointed it out to him. Lo and behold there was a nice woman outside giving out fresh baked, I'm talking hot from the oven, chocolate chip with sea salt cookie. It was AMAZING. The chocolate was so ooey-gooey and perfect for the super cold weather. We didn't stop in since we were on our way to the Underground tour but I made a mental note to pass by on our walk back. After the tour we had some time to kill between meeting our friends at the Columbia Tower so we stopped in for some warm drinks. My boyfriend had a cappucino and I had their green tea. Both drinks were excellent and we found the perfect spot by their front window to people watch. Even better they had free wifi! Password was loveeverbody - which is also their slogan, I believe. The restroom was closed when we went but the Alexis hotel next door has a nice restroom that customers can use. I didn't realize that they also have a location within Pike Place Market itself - I'll definitely keep an eye out for our next trip.

Pretentious. They made me feel like I'd never ordered a coffee before and it was definitely not a welcoming experience. Dismal breakfast pastry choices. I ended up with a caramel bun; one bite in and it was stuck in all of my teeth and that was the end of that. One size of latte for to-go coffee. No sweetener variety. I'm not asking you to be Starbucks, but it felt like 'we know the best way to drink coffee and if you don't agree then this is not for you'. A bit ridiculous. I will not return. And thank god I didn't have my kids with me or I think the baristas might have passed out from the internal eye rolling.

AMAZING coffee - had the Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk and it was PERFECT. I'm grabbing two bags of coffee to take back to Portland (one for me, one for a friend) and am looking forward to waking up to a homemade repeat of this experience.

For my first time here I got a mocha to drink and to eat I split a market fresh fruit bowl and cinnamon roll. For the price the cinnamon roll kept me wanting more but that was mostly because it was so good I just wanted a giant sized roll instead of the small roll they serve. The fruit bowl of good as you would expect from fruit directly from pikes place that morning. The mocha had a great balance of sweetness and the taste of the coffee. So many times you can forget you are drinking coffee and not hot chocolate when getting a mocha. This isn't the case with the mocha at Storyville, they know what they are doing and they do it well.

Once again I am rewarded with an excellent cup of almond cap. Very smooth and surprisingly there was plentiful froth. Other big box coffee shops seem to fail at this task. I try to stop here at least once, since I'm based in LA.

I came to Seattle on vacation and stopped in to grab a beverage while exploring the city. First, the baristas were incredibly pleasant and the iced latte was wonderful. The bf got a peppermint tea that was lovely. What set this place miles apart from any other coffee shop that we stopped into? The cake. We had just sat down to enjoy our drinks and 2 employees came out of the back room and offered the patrons in the shop some great baked, just iced (still warm) chocolate cake. Complimentary!! It was such a nice surprise! Thank you for making these out of towners feel so welcome!

Lovely morning coffee. Simple elegant place. Clean lines. Small menu. From a marketing perspective branding is masterful. I'm not a coffee connoisseur so can't say if it's above par or par, but it's definitely not below!

Great espresso with robust flavors. Plus the service was fantastic as well. I ordered a macchiato thinking I would be getting a Starbucks version and they managed to question if I wanted a real macchiato (apparently the Starbucks version isn't what a macchiato is) without making me feel like they were talking down to me. Sometimes baristas can be really stuck up but not at this place in my experience.

Fantastic staff and amazing espresso! Their customer service is exceptional!! Today was my second time visiting!! I am really impressed. Baristas are super friendly. Their lattes taste so good. I look forward to my next visit. In fact, I'm gonna make it my small tradition to stop by Storyville on my every visit. Portland loves you!

Okay, Storyville just upped the ante. They now have a Barista Quality almond milk. There is nothing like a rich foamy latte made with this special almond milk! Pastry is as good as ever, rich and buttery and freshly made. The service is impeccable. You can pretty much order whatever you wish and get a smile and a nod when you do. This is a very busy store but worth every minute of the wait for the coffee. Try not be in a hurry when you are at Storyville . It is a place to enjoy!

3.5 stars. Came into town on a business trip and wanted to see how well Seattle's coffee matches its sterling reputation. I ordered a macchiato and the ham and cheese puff pastry. First, the pastry was out of this world. Light and airy pastry, hefty and hearty filling of some very legit (as in it tasted like it was cured in-house) ham and some very sharp cheddar. I could have eaten five more. But, I came for the coffee. The macchiato was lovingly made. I watched the bistro dose, distribute, and tamp with care. I saw him carefully steam the milk. But the darn thing tasted burnt. The milk was good, but I couldn't taste a bit of espresso, just burnt beans. I really didn't want to give 3.5, especially with the good food and the fact that the barista seemed to be really paying attention to what he was doing. But my drink didn't taste anywhere near what it should have been.

One of the best espresso drinks I've probably ever had was a free latte from Storyville. I came in here while I was on a business trip and ended up in line behind a family that let's just say took a while to order, and then order again. The baristas we very nice to them, and I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind. As the barista was finishing up with their drinks and starting to make mine, she told me my latte was going to be on the house. I told her it wasn't necessary, but she politely insisted. It was a very nice gesture for something so small. Anyway, on the the espresso. The latte was terrific. The temperature was perfect, the microfoam and art were nicely textured and pleasant to look at. The milk was absolutely amazing. I'm not sure what they use, but it was very flavorful. The espresso they used paired quite well with the milk so that it had great flavor, but that did not overwhelm or get lost in the milk. The roast was light and sweet, just like i like it. I would absolutely come back here again and again.

Came for the coffee. Stayed for Ross Money. What can I say about Storyville? Fantastic coffee? Oh hell yeah they got that! What's that? impeccable baristas and staff? Oh they definitely got that! Amazingly relaxing and cozy atmosphere? Pffft look at there photos of the interior and you feel like you are at home. Go inside and you wan't to make it your home. In all seriousness, Storyville strives to serve there customers and make them happy in every way possible. Coffee shops try to do it but Storyville in my opinion does it the best. If you come to this shop, I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.

First impression: fancy, uppity coffee bar. Boy was I wrong. The 2 baristas were incredibly nice and unpretentious. My cappuccino was smooth, and beautifully created. Lemon pound cake was just enough sweet. I would go again just for the service!

We were surprised to stumble on a place like Storyville in such a touristy downtown area (we were tourists, downtown). Pleasantly surprised, however. Excellent coffee and knowledgeable baristas who cared. The branding of the place is really strong, maybe a little too strong for what they are, but the guys behind the counter were super nice. If we're back in downtown Seattle, I'll be back in Storyville Coffee. Spendy alert!

While waiting for a shop to open across the street I stopped in here for a latte. Normally when I drink coffee on an empty stomach within an hour my stomach acids are treacherous! Not here!!! I finished my amazing breve latte (with a super cute foam pattern!) and have had no acid issues and have enjoyed my day!! Very nice and polite staff and happy I stopped in here! I will definitely return!

Great Seattle coffee shop! The staff is really friendly and the coffee is amazing. Tea is not so much their specialty and the seating is not comfy enough to spend quality time there doing work on a laptop but you certainly can. I stopped in my last morning of my most recent trip to Seattle to have a coffee and figure out what I should do with my last day in my favorite city. I sat on a stool at a window soaking the sun in and looking things up on my iPhone. I would definitely return here for a cup of coffee, especially to go on a future trip to Seattle.

Big shout out to the gang at Storyville - coffee, atmosphere and attitude all top notch! I love the layout of this place, I could settle in for the day quite easily. The staff are so friendly and they greeted me immediately upon arrival, asking me what I would like and generally chatting away. They have a sense of humour which makes the whole experience even better! Not pretentious at all. My first sip of coffee was like being at home again, hot and smooth and hitting. the. spot. Thank you thank you thank you!

I am in love with Storyville coffee. I've visited the Pike Place location a few times, and every time I am met with exceptional customer service, tasty pastries, and top-notch coffee. Their baristas are all trained at the highest levels and are super nice and helpful. This place is so well-designed and so warm. Makes me want to stay in here all day. I would highly recommend teaming up the chocolate chip cookie with a French press or a latte if you're feeling sweet. I'll be back for sure!

  • Elizabeth L.

I ordered the cappuccino. It just needed a little sugar. I love the service, and love how the barista tops it off with heart shaped cream with the whip. Very artsy and cute. My by got the mocha. That was very tasty and not super sweet and strong like other mochas that I have tried. I would definitely recommend this coffee shop. It's a must go. Very nice ambiance also.

I love their coffee. Employees are exceptionally nice. If you are looking for a coffee place other than Starbucks then this is the place. Besides, their chocolate chip cookies are out of this world.

I ordered an 8 oz. Americano and a caramel sticky bun with sea salt. I drink my coffee black and the Americano was really good, nice and smooth, and the sticky bun was delicious, chewy with a hint of what tasted like honey. The hubbs and I were visiting Seattle from SF for the weekend (stayed across the street at Hotel 1000) and we started our mornings with Storyville coffee all 3 days! We love our Bay Area coffee - Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, and Philz to name a few, so I feel comfortable saying Storyville is legit. The café is really cozy with lots of seating too.

Super traumatic espresso let down this morning, all thanks to Storyville Coffee. We're staying at the hotel next door. Woke up desperately needing my morning coffee fix and sent husband down to get me "two shots." He comes back with about two teaspoons of espresso in a paper cup. Says he asked the barista, "Are you SURE this is two shots?" She says yes. "It condenses." He asks again, "Are you sure?" Yes, she says. I've had espresso all over the world. Lots and lots of it. I'm sadly addicted. That was the most pathetic "Two shots" I've ever had. Taste was bitter. It wasn't even a sip. Yesterday we ventured a few blocks away and had delicious espresso. Seriously - skip this place. There are so many good coffee shops in Seattle.

Leaps and bounds above all other coffee from a quality, decor, flavor and attention to detail. You can tell from when you walk in the foot that it is a top notch establishment. My favorites include the latte and espresso shot.

    (5)
  • Jamie K.

Meh. They just have a few standard coffee drinks. Nothing particularly special about it. The atmosphere inside is uncomfortable. You can perch at the counters in the window (which put your crotch right at eye level on the Madison side - ladies in skirts this warning is for you) or stand around weird high tables in the middle. For such a large space, there's absolutely no comfortable, inviting "stay for a while and have your coffee" feel. The staff is a little annoying. There some kind of pushy campaign going on where they walk around the streets in the afternoon trying to get people to come in.

I was in Seattle for a one day trip and walking downtown made me need to use a restroom so i wandered into this place. I got a breve latte and a lemon cake. The baristas are nice and friendly and were nice to chat up. The place is more on the elitist side and is pretty minimalist with decor. Not very cozy but hey. Their main attraction is their espresso machine i guess. The lemon cake was pretty good. The latte. Better than most but just ok to me. Couldve had smoother foam. Price wasnt too bad as they had a yelp check in discount. All in all a decent experience. 4 stars for the customer service and lemon cake.

Great feeling to the coffee shop; I got an 8oz latte which was delicious. Interesting concept only roasting a couple different blends. Overall, I would say this is a solid spot for a good latte.

Loved this little shop. Wouldn't have found it if it wasn't for my friends who live in Seattle, but the place was awesome. Cozy but modern decor, great views of Pike's Place and of course delicious coffee!! Highly recommended if you can find it ;)

One of my favorite places to grab artisan espresso and just chill out. The inside of this small shop is all wood and just beautiful. The baristas always greet me with a smile and chat me up. I appreciate the genuine kindness and dedication to their craft. The milk they use is awesome and my cappuccino is always creamy and perfect! The espresso art is a cool touch too. I highly recommend this shop.

Good stuff!

The vanilla latte was so good that I had to order another one. The vanilla is hommemade and its my favorite latte in the city thus far. I also ordered the breakfast sandwich which was on point. Storyville is a must.

Fantastic coffee! Loved the cappuccino. The pastry selection was sparse but the excellent coffee and happy workers made up for it. Wish it had comfy chairs to lounge at in addition to the window bar stools. Love their logo too, but despite the name it seems there's no story behind it.

  • E. P.

    (5)

One of the best cappuccinos I've had. Most times when you use almond milk, it ruins the taste but it was amazing still. My girlfriend loved her caramel sea salt latte. She's not a coffee drinker normally, but she loved it. Great first Seattle coffee experience.

  • Leigh H.

  • Dan K.

Amazingly smooth espresso. Add some milk (or even some chocolate if you're feeling adventurous) and you're in for a treat! The service is incredible and this place has the ambience down to a tee.
