First time to Silver Tray and i find it nice, humble and cute Thai restaurant with fantastic service especially the water. Literally when my cup was almost out of water, they'll be there almost immediately to refill it. Appetizer - PLATTER PLATE $9.95 (deep fried dish) Which includes fried wonton stuffed with cream cheese, fried tofu, fried vegetable egg rolls and fried pork gyozas(dumplings). Comes with soy sauce and sweet & sour sauce. It was hot, fresh and delicious! Entrée - AVOCADO GREEN CURRY $10.95 There are legit real avacados! Very creamy and yummy! All the ingredients cooked well and served to perfection! I highly recommend this dish if you are going to go for curry. MASSAMUN CURRY $9.95 Also tastes very good and smells good as well! Wasn't my dish but took a few bites from it and I loved it as well but not as much as the avacado curry. Misc - $1.50 for a bowl of white rice and $2 for a bowl of brown rice. Looking for an amazing delicious Thai restaurant near UW Seattle? I highly recommend this place. It's just a few blocks up from Dick's burgers. Yummy to my tummy.

As a rule of thumb, I get Pad Thai the first time I go to a new Thai place. And man did this place pass my expectations! The pad Thai is solid and it is obvious why the avocado green curry is such a crowd pleaser (had to get both cause the curry was so highly recommended). Plus the staff is super duper nice. I don't expect to be asked how I'm doing by take out waitstaff at such a busy place. But here you could tell they out in the little extra care that makes you feel good when you leave. Looking forward to coming here many times in the future!

Really thought this was going to be an amazing Thai food establishment, and it failed to match the reviews. As soon as we got in the door, we were asked to go or sitting down, and she was annoyed with sit down. I literally walked in starving, and had to "to go" my food because I did not like the service and the food was not too good. There was a group of Caucasian people in the restaurant and we ( my cousin and I) were the only two parties in this restaurant. We weren't ever asked anything, or treated nicely as the other group. So I don't like being treated like second class citizens, definitely not the best service. I ordered the pad kee mao, and it was horribly made. Clumps of noodles, not a good assortment of veggies with chicken. Presentation Just looked terrible. And did not taste too good. Had it to go. And she gives me a clear plastic bpa container vs a paper one. Thanks, I'm definitely never coming back.

Came here a while back so I can't remember much besides that the couple that owns this place is SUPER NICE! The wife kept on coming back to our table and asking if we were okay and would refill our rice. Place is also clean and on that day the crowd was not that huge so we had the whole place to ourselves essentially. I remembered we got a Pad Thai, some kind of curry, and some kind of stir fry---all very good. The only NOT-SO-GOOD is that I got a parking violation ticket because I parked in an area that requires a permit. Wallingford, you are the baine of my existence. If you were a human, I would punch you in the face.

Silver Tray is one of the more satisfying restaurant experiences I've had in a while. I was actually full after eating, which is always nice when you're paying. Plus, I hate to mention this in a review, but the waitress serving me was really cute. That was a contributor to my enjoyment of this place. I would definitely return if given the chance. I ordered the avocado green curry for $10.95 and added chicken and a two-star spiciness. I also requested some brown rice for an additional two dollars, and the meal was ready fifteen minutes later. The curry and rice together were very filling, and it's always nice to have avocado in anything you eat. Definitely one of the better restaurants of Wallingford.

Unfortunately I have to downgrade it to 2 stars, because the last time I was there, there was something wrong with the chicken. It took 3 days to make it out of my system, painfully... To be really honest, any place that actually gets you sick should be 1 star. :( so sad to lose a favorite

  • O'Neill J.

Ordered the orange chicken and it was good but should have ordered it spicier..also too much flour less chicken..chicken tasted a little dried..possibly over fried. ..But over good..pad Thai was as expected. ..good

I ordered red curry and white rice for takeout. It was delicious and spicy- per my request. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for yummy Thai takeout.

Better service this time and much cleaner .... But the flavors really weren't exciting at all. =/ I felt like giving them a second chance to make a first impression.... but 'fool me once, shame on you' comes to mind.

Came here too many times to count now; that's because the food is always delicious and the owners are so friendly. As a vegetarian, I appreciate the wide array of options available. Everything is tasty, the helpings are generous, and it's extremely affordable. The staff are also so kind and seem to remember me when I come in (maybe that's just a sign I've gone here too often!). Definitely a must-go for Thai in Seattle.

This was my first time at Silver Tray and it did not disappoint. The decor inside is simple yet perfect. The staff were very friendly. We ordered 2 entrees and the pot stickers and everything was excellent. I will definitely be coming back again soon.

Great little restaurant! The service was very friendly and quick. I had the avocado green curry. It was amazing! My wife really enjoyed her dish also, she had the swimming Rama. We both will be heading back and would highly recommend it.

Delicious Thai food and super friendly owners! The mango sticky rice (when in season) is sooo on point. I usually get the Tom Yum soup, basil friend rice and Pad Kea Mao, and all are always consistently delicious. Silver Tray is definitely one of the best places for Thai takeout in Wallingford.

My boyfriend and I order take-out or delivery from here every 2-3 weeks because it's close to home and they have some delicious options. The staff is SUPER friendly, and it's a really cute, clean place. They have some incredible dishes that I really recommend, like the Bangkok chicken, avocado curry, and pumpkin curry. Also, their crab rangoon is the best I've found in Seattle - gotta get it! However, their pad thai is a pretty big miss. We've tried it a few times, thinking maybe the chef was just having an off night? But nope, every time it's been bland and isn't as good as you want pad thai to be. So stick to the curries and exciting dishes on their menu - but avoid the pad thai!

I went to Silver Tray months ago with my girlfriend and had the avocado green curry, and I had been craving it ever since. I picked up an order to go last night and it didn't disappoint! Though it seems like they skimped a bit on the avocado. Regardless, it's worth coming just for this dish. Both times I've been here the staff has been very helpful, the place is clean, and it's got a nice, quiet, atmosphere. Definitely a good place to check out!

Really great food and fast, friendly service. I continue to come here because Lucky always treats me so great! Prices are very reasonable, and food is always fresh and tasty! Keep doing whatever you're doing, it's magical. :)

1 appetizer, 2 main dishes and white rice for $43.13 plus tip. Delivery order. Mains were "signature" dishes. 1. Portion size and quality make for a very poor performance. Tiny portions and that price means premium food and preparation. That's not at all what we got. 2. One of the main courses was wrong and this wrong beef dishes tasted like moistened beef jerky and was about 2 or 3 ounces of meet. So avoid the Pepper Beef. Filled about 1/3 of basic whole foods type box. 3. The hot and spicy duck was AWFUUULLLL. The appearance of portion size was enhanced by the breading and by the fat. There was almost no duck in the dish. Plus being there were a good amount of green beans. Filled about close to 1/2 the box. 4. The Crab Rangoon type appetizer was the least bad dish. The sauce tho could hardly be described as plum sauce.. Regardless, it tasted bizarre, like ginger jelly that might be old. Delivery was on schedule. Food kept fairly warm.

This place is great for the gluten free crowd, or really anyone with dietary restrictions. The waitstaff here is SO, SO unbelievably kind and courteous every time I come in, and I feel like they are really listening when I explain what I can and cannot have, and really care about getting everything right. To top it off, the food is delicious and affordable at about $10 an entree!

Customers beware. Check your food. Disappointing is all I can say. I ordered take out late at night about half an hour before closing, customer service was great, probably better than most places. I ordered panang curry, avocado green curry and the pad see new(spelled differently in their menu) and two sticky rices. I got to their restaurant within 20 mins and was greeted. The lady at the counter double checked that I received the correct items again before charging me so I thought there would be no problems, I was actually impressed as I haven't see any other restaurant do this before. After my short drive home, I opened everything up to start eating only to find a speck of mold that was green and milky white in one of the sticky rices. I thought it was that small area, but no there were 4 other spots, all that can be easily see and should have been thrown away. Not sure how this could of happened as the rice was piping hot. This probably means it was made previously, bagged, cooled down(creates condensation which allows bacteria to grow faster) then reheated when needed. The other food was good, but seeing the mold was disgusting. Please check your food thoroughly before giving it to a customer. And customers beware, some specks were really unnoticeable and some parts were only milk white blending in with the rice. If I didn't have experience working in the food industry I would have probably never notice the smaller specks even more so if that big green spot wasn't the first thing I saw. Was going to give three stars for the service and the other food, but pushed down to two as they should be checking the food...and it was pretty gross

My friend and I came with a craving for Thai! I got the pad kee mao with chicken, medium spicy. I loved the flavor and the wide (wider than normal) flat noodles, but there wasn't enough. I had a lot of onions, tomatoes, and whatever else is in there. Would have liked a little more carbs. the veggies in the noodles were good though: broccoli, green and red bell peppers. Same deal for the beef pepper steak. Great flavor, great meat, just not a lot of it and a lot a lot of onions. If I go back, I might ask them to cut back a bit on the onions. The waitress who served is was super nice and attentive.

Best Panang curry I've had in Seattle so far. The lunch special is the way to go: Soup, Curry, and Spring Rolls for under $10. Fast Service and friendly staff.

  • Tim F.

I went in to try their lunch special and their massmun curry was outstanding--truly unique with many more tamarind and lime overtones than I've ever had. Most places toss a few toasted peanuts into their red curry base but this was truly special. Also, the service here is among the friendliest I have experienced in Seattle. I will be a regular from here on out!

This is our favorite Thai place in the area. We have dined in, ordered take out, and gotten delivery. The staff is very friendly, service is quick, and the food is great. It's everything I want in a Thai restaurant. My favorite dishes are the Bangkok Chicken, Panang Curry, and Phad Prik King.

good neighborhood thai spot! I've had take out from here a couple times now and it's always pretty good. The huge plus is that they're very gluten-conscious and I've never gotten sick from eating here. They double check on ingredients for everything and label items gluten free on the containers. I also like that they have more entrees than just the basic panang, green, yellow curries, pad thai, etc. (Which they also do well!) Things like avocado green curry, pumpkin curry, coriander beef etc. really add some interest to the menu. Is it the greatest thai I've ever had? No. The flavors are more bland than gourmet restaurants. But, for what it is (take out thai spot), it's great. The curry portions are large and filling (enough for two) but the stir-fry portions are rather small for the price. The chicken pumpkin curry is very good. I've also had the lemongrass chicken stir-fry which is just okay. I don't love that you have to pay $2 extra for rice, it should really come with the entree. Really more of a take out spot than eat-in, although they do have tables and I've often seen people eating there. But not especially nice ambiance and kind of a busy, take-out feel. It's also not really a 'gourmet' thai restaurant - keep your expectations checked when you order take out here, because if you order a salad or something, it's probably not going to be that great, compared to a high caliber big restaurant thai salad. But stick with the basics (esp curries) and it won't disappoint. Spicy stars are accurate - I always get 4 stars and it leaves a slight runny nose (perfect). Overall, will keep coming back when the craving for take out thai hits, and really nice to know their gluten free standards are high!

I have never eaten Thai food this terrible. My friends and I called in a take out order of Curry Fried Rice, Crab Fried Rice, and Phad Thai with Tofu. The woman working the cash register was sweet and friendly. Once we began eating our food at home, we quickly realized that the Phad Thai was completely bland, without any spice, peanut sauce, or anything remotely resembling vegetables. It was essentially a paper box with plain noodles. I ordered the Curry Fried Rice and became immediately violently sick from the stale overcooked rice and the seemingly funky odor of the curry. Bottom line: do not eat here ever, there are plenty of other delicious options for Thai food nearby.

I am sooooo happy to see fresh (and awake) faces in this space! I noticed that Lotus closed a couple of months ago, and was happy to hear that a new couple was taking over the restaurant space and changing things up a bit. I do miss the seafood salad that was my main/only reason for visiting Lotus, but I don't miss anything else!! (I mostly mention this because I want them to re-create the salad...) The space looks clean and people seem to finally be eating at the restaurant. I have not seen that in a long time!! I recently stopped by for lunch and got the very tasty (see picture) beef salad. Definitely recommend it! I haven't ordered anything else yet, but am happy with the experience I've had so far.

Hate to write a negative review, however the Bangkok Chicken was very salty and the service was extremely fake. Went up to change my appetizer quickly (30 sec.) after placing my order and the waitress was very snippy.

Ok ok, it's very hard to write a not 5-star review when at the end of the meal, rather than taking home left over pad see ew, you want to take the server with you because SHE WAS SO INCREDIBLY NICE AND SWEET AND WONDERFUL. That said, I have some qualms with Silver Tray. Dishes eaten were aforementioned Pad See Ew, Swimming Rama, Fried Rice, Green Papaya Salad, Coriander Beef and Avocado Curry. I am not a fan of any restaurant that calls a bowl of Iceberg Lettuce a salad. Pad See Ew and Friend Rice left no impression. The swimming rama that was supposed to be 5 star came without any spice whatsoever (the server made sure my friend knew how spicy it was when he was ordering; probably didn't believe that he could handle it), and the coriander beef, which one the website looks like a much more heaping dish, came as 4 pieces of saucy, chewy, almost jerky. Delicious, but disappointing for 15 bucks. Doesn't leave me wanting coming back, knowing that there's an abundance of other Thai places to explore around Seattle. Last thing, I'm nitpicky. When our order was taken, we were asked whether we wanted brown or white rice. Naive me thought rice was included, but it cost two dollars I should have spent on Thai Tea.

They have friendly service and always remember your name! Their pumpkin curry is to die for! They also make their food truly spicy when you ask for it, which is wonderful for those of us who love spice. I've tried other dishes as well and they've all been good, but the curry is still my favorite. They add a good variety of veggies to their dishes, such as green beans and zucchini, instead of just the usual bell peppers, which is nice. I highly recommend!

  • Emily A.

Nothing special here. Had the pad thai, boring and really sweet. Mom had some kind of curry, it had no depth and just tasted like coconut milk, she left half of it and she's the type of woman to eat everything! Also, $2 for rice? Really?... What do they want us to do? Eat a bowl of curry with no rice unless you pay for it? Sorry but that's stupid. It should be expected to come with free rice as part of the dish. Only good thing was the thai iced tea, but you can't go wrong with that if your just mixing syrups.

My new favorite. Excellent Thai food, a notch above the other Wallingford Thai restaurants, and far, far better than Lotus Thai formerly occupied the same storefront. I've had four or five meals here now and enjoyed all of them. The curries are excellent, the roast pork was delicious, and the stir fries very tasty. The ambiance is also lovely -- both airy and intimate. My previous favorite was Sea Thai, which has pretty good food but feels cramped and dark. Silver Thai is now my go-to for sit-down Thai food, and take-out as well.

  • Gloria G.

I'm a regular. By routine on my way back home, order takeout the Thai Iced Tea, Bangkok chicken, and pad thai noodles. Silver Tray's pad thai isn't dry and has the right balance of the sour tamarind and sweet. Super hospitable and to get a eeyore like me to smile and be cheery sunshine after a long week of work full of doom and gloom wins bonus points in customer service. Take-out service topped literally by rose, crafted by straw wrapper of course. It's the little things that count.

When I realized there was a new name and probably ownership I thought I'd try the place out. It was nice, clean, very inviting. It was a thursday so there was a special for 1/2 price bottle wine. I ordered a bottle. The special that night was chicken with green beans. I ordered it. Was great. I had arrived to the place about 5 minutes to 9 but noticed the sign on the door said close at 9:30. I hate to be the lone lagging customer in a place so was trying to hurry so not to keep the staff too late. The nice young waitress checked on me now and then and I assured her everything was great. About 9:35 she stopped by and asked if everything was okay. I said yes, and asked her to bottle my wine to go and I was almost done with my meal. She assured me there was no hurry as she had 'lots of work to do still so don't feel you have to rush.' I was so glad to hear that. I finished my meal and even had another glass of wine. She was so friendly to make me feel welcomed and not rushed. I would have given 5 stars for this visit. Unfortunately, I returned again a few weeks later, on a Wednesday evening. I arrived at 5 minutes after 9. The waitress (different one from before) turned to me when she heard the door, a very disturbed look on her face. She said, "hello, would you like an order to go?" I said no, I would like to have dinner seated. She then advised me they were closing. I said, "The sign on the door says you close at 9:30." She said yes, but now they were only doing orders to go, after 9:00. I told her then you should say that on your open/close sign and told her she just lost a sale, if not a would be regular customer. Poor way to run a business. What if I was seated and 2 or 3 more tables came in after me? Loss, loss, loss. Why do so many restaurants hate for you to come in that long before they say they close? I went to the Afghan restaurant down the street and had a very, nice, relaxed, welcoming experience, I will definitely think of this place when looking to dine again in Wallingford. That will be on another review.

My favorite place for Thai food in Seattle! Very authentic since the couple that owns it are from Thailand and bring with them amazing versions of traditional dishes. Unfortunately, I've moved from the Seattle area but I will still drive an hour for this restaurant when I'm craving Thai food. Basically everything we're had there is amazing but some stand-outs are the Coriander Beef, avocado green curry (we get it with prawns) and duck panang curry. Friendly and attentive staff that treat you like family.

This place is special. They made an old staple taste transcendent (basil fried pork) and a new dish to us (noodles in a yellow curry, but thinner than khao soi and with big rice noodles) was so intensely flavorful we couldn't stop picking at it even after we got stuffed. Service was lovely. It's just a few blocks away and we'll definitely be back.

This place is REALLY good and the lady that greeted us and helped us was so nice and precious. I always always always get Pad See Ewe and Fried Rice. It was delicious. Next time I'm in Seattle i'll definitely come back here

This review is for their takeout service. I walked in at 12:45 on a Monday afternoon and only 1 table was filled. I guess they are very new and are yet to get regulars. The owner was very friendly and gave me a free bowl of soup as I waited for my order. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. It was a bit chilly in there but maybe it's because it was pretty empty. My order: Phad Thai: pretty good, not as good at Thai Tom's phad Thai but quite tasty. It is a little on the dry side which I like but some may prefer phad Thai with more sauce. Curry pineapple fried rice: they forgot the tofu I asked for but it was fine. However, I much prefer the curry pineapple fried rice at Namfon Thai in Northgate. More curry punch. Prikhing green beans: way too sweet for my liking. I don't think I've ever had prikhing green beans that sweet before. I would not order that again. Pumpkin red curry: delicious! Sweet pumpkin with zucchini, bamboo shoots and fresh basil. I added tofu. This was my favorite of the bunch and will definitely order this again. Everything I ordered was at 2-stars of spiciness and that was plenty spicy (and I love spicy food). I can't imagine what 4 or 5 stars would be like! The items from the lunch menu are better value than the regular menu and the portions are not much different. With the lunch menu, you get rice and two small vegetable spring rolls. With the regular menu, you have to order rice which is $1.50. They are working on their liquor license. I would go back again (for takeout).

Delicious food and wonderful service. The owners really take the time to give you a warm and friendly experience. As a mom, it was a great place to take my kids, get them something that would like and then order myself a VERY spicy Thai entree. I can't say it enough how hard it is to get all our appetites & palettes satisfied, but Silver Tray definitely does it!!!

Newly opened restaurant in the Wallingford area. I am glad that I get to try the food on their gland opening day. I had Green curry avocado, Nam-moo, Pad-thai, and pineapple curry fried rice. What I like: - Pretty much all the dishes I order are pretty good. I especially enjoyed the green curry avocado with tofu. I also like Nam-moo, which is the appetizer dish. It has grounded pork, red onion, and peanut mixed together in a light sweet and sour sauce--it is a very comfort food to me. - Hot tea. Their hot-tea smells very flowery. They informed me they have to order specially for the restaurant. It is really nice tea. Check it out!! - The waitstaff are pretty friendly and cheerful. What I think the can improve: - The service is a bit slow possibly because it's the first day. - The Pad-thai with pork, although delicious, the pork smell a bit. - The restaurant doesn't have it own parking. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I gave the restaurant five stars for the reason that they are still very new, so it's understandably they will need sometime to work thing out. I will visit them again and see if it has improved.

I have ordered take-out and delivery. The delivery was extremely prompt. I got my meal 20 minutes later which was much shorter than their 40 minute estimate. The phad kee mao is great. I love the addition of tomatoes which makes it very saucy. They are extremely helpful and friendly when you call.

I sadly only had the opportunity to get Thai food once while visiting Seattle, but Silver Tray was a decent choice out of many options. I ordered the Pad See Ew and my friend got the Pad Kee Mao. Both were flavorful and contained ample veggies and protein to round out the noodles, but I've had better at a couple of places in Indiana. I didn't care much for their spring rolls (bland and tiny) but I wasn't really expecting super-gourmet stuff for a $7.95 lunch special anyway. The mango sticky rice dessert was delicious, which made up for the shortcoming of the spring rolls. Overall, not bad, and I could see myself going fairly often for dinner if I lived nearby, but next time I visit Seattle I will probably try a different place in search of something amazing.

Very good Thai food. Have only been for lunch and enjoy the panang curry. The green curry seemed kinda thin and soupy to me. Even so, the ingredients seem to be very fresh. One thing I haven't figured out is why this place is rated one of the best for Thai in the neighborhood but always seems pretty empty at lunch time. Maybe they do more business at dinner. ??

Visited here on a Sunday evening, not crowded at all, and the meal selection was excellent. I had the chicken satay for an appetizer, and a special selection of cod with curry sauce for my entrée (it's not on the regular menu). I would highly recommend this spot for a nice quiet evening, or even a fun date (and it's not expensive either, which was nice!)

Been here several times. The phad thai is very good and a little less sweet than other thai places. I haven't strayed from the phad thai but the others I have been with ordering panang and some curries. All folks report good tasting food. I like this place, very folksy with good personal service.

My cousin and I stumbled across this place by chance, but boy was it meant to be! I tried the Pumpkin Red Curry with Tofu and it was the BEST I'd ever had, perfect amount of spice and everything.. I've already recommended this place to all my friends- it's worth the visit!

Excellent thai food. Even though we live on the Eastside, we'll make a trip to Wallingford to eat here. Staff and service is top-notch, and you get the Thai friendliness that we have grown to love. We particularly enjoy the Duck and Pineapple Curry, and we have also loved the Avocado Green Curry. The Coriander Beef is to die for. Prices are reasonable and the portions are standard size. We love the fact that the owner makes regular trips back to Bangkok to search for new dishes to bring back to Seattle. Very tasty place, and one of our favorite haunts.

Have ordered delivery from Silver Tray three times now, to make sure they produced consistent results. I find that many of the dishes I have had are some of the best examples of the cuisine that I have had from any Thai restaurant: Phad Thai - ordered each of the three times - lots of fresh veggies, good spice, noodles well prepared without being overly greasy as happens in many restaurants. Curries - have ordered the Green Avocado, the Pumpkin Red Curry, and a standard yellow curry - all of these were made with fresh ingredients, and the quality of preparation shone through. Rices - I have had the Basil Fried Rice, and found it to be very good. Appetizers: Chicken Satay - hard to really mess this up, but it was prepared as I would expect with just the right amount of sears while maintaining a good level of juiciness.`, with a slightly different marinade than I have had from other restaurants, and it was a welcome surprise. Pot Stickers - good quality ingredients inside - these aren't steamed dumplings - they are deep-fried, and pretty tasty. Fried Spring Roll - again with the quality ingredients - these aren't store-bought and then fried - they are obviously produced in-house. Additional items of note: I have a small daughter and she isn't into spicy food (yet), so I was able to order sides of steamed chicken and vegetables, and they came as exactly that - well cooked chicken and vegetables that weren't falling apart. Their spice scale is on a 1 to 5 star rating - I like spicy food, so I have ordered around the scale from 1 to 4 - I find 3 to be a good level here, and was consistent from order to order. Hot, but not overpowering the food. The dish that I ordered with a 4 star spice level was very good as well, and didn't overpower the flavor of the dish, but it was just a bit hot for my palate - others may find it to be perfect. I am sure that the 5 star is also very good. I find that their service and phone manners are excellent, even at times exuberant depending on who you get, and I appreciated that they made a point of saying each time I called that they would not hold onto any credit card information for my security.

I ordered the Pineapple Duck Curry and it was phenomenal! There was a mix up when the tip was processed and the owner called right away to straighten it out. I wouldn't have even noticed there was an error for a couple days and she resolved it the next morning. She refunded my money and gave me a discount to use next time. I highly recommend this place.

We used to drive all the way to Queen Anne to get decent Thai food, since there was a lack of it in our own neighborhood. We SO needed a delicious Thai restaurant in Wallingford, and we finally got one thanks to Silver Tray! The food is delicious, the people that work there are really friendly, and the interior of the restaurant is nice and clean. They deliver too; an added bonus! I definitely recommend the Phad Thai and the Phud Kee Mao, both are excellent dishes!

Had to try this place after reading all the great reviews & since I LOVE Thai food. Soooo disappointed! Who wrote all the great reviews? Friends & family of the owners? smh Three of us stopped in for lunch and we were the only diners in the place. That was an ominous clue. So here's what we had: - fried rice with chicken - massaman curry with chicken - chicken cashew with brown rice Worst fried rice ever! Zero flavor, huge hunks of nearly raw cabbage, tough bland chicken slices, tiny bits of scrambled egg, and some frozen peas and carrots. I doused it with soy sauce hoping for a little flavor, but sadly it didn't help. "Where is the flavor? Where are the spices? This is the worst lunch I ever had!" - to quote Nacho Libre. Really really bad. My friend said his curry was watery and tasted of vinegar, what?? My other friend ordered the cashew chicken at a spice level of 1, and couldn't eat but a few bites as it was so spicy. Guess all the spices from my uber-bland fried rice went into her dish! All lunch specials come with salad: a few pieces of iceberg lettuce and a couple of carrot slices with an oil & mustard dressing...uh okayyy And 2 very small spring rolls with no dipping sauce..alrighty.. The sticky rice & mango was very good, although pricey $7.95 Lunch for 3 was $50! We all ordered from the lunch menu, no appetizers, only water to drink, and 2 desserts - waaaayyy too much $$ for what we got. Save your hard earned money and go to Amazing Thai, our fav.

From the outside Silver Tray looks like it might be a dive, but inside it's a casual yet delicate and fancy dining experience with great service and great food.

Yum!! Great Prices, great service, great food. Really really really good thai iced tea- not sickeningly sweet. Would definitely go again.

Wonderful phone ordering experience! Very clear, professional and personable lady. Delivery dude friendly too, and arrived 15 minutes faster than quoted. Food was fantastic, maybe the crab rangoon was a bit heavy on cream cheese- more crab please.

This place is very good. A million times better than Lotus was in the same location. I love the Bangkok Chicken, super yummy. The orange chicken was too orangey for me, sounds weird but it's true. Pad thai is ok not my favorite. The Angel wings are really good, worth a try for sure. The pad see iew is great too. I've had the tom ka kha, lemongrass chicken, spring rolls, satay, crab delight, beef pepper steak, and it was all good. I have never eaten in house as I have ordered delivery. The people on the phone and in person are the nicest most polite folks I've dealt with in a long time. A real gem.

The staff is very nice and the curries are excellent. I keep meaning to try new things on the menu, but every time I walk in, I choose the pumpkin curry or the avocado curry, because I am addicted to them. Not crazy about having to buy the rice separate, but the pumpkin curry is worth it. Uh, oh. I'm seriously craving it now . . .

I have eaten at Silver Tray at least 3 times now and every time it has been a wonderful experience. The food here is delicious. I usually get the phad thai simply because I love phad thai, but they also have other intriguing dishes. My boyfriend has gotten the phad see iew and the bangkok chicken. We've also had the spring rolls and the pot stickers. Every single item I've tried has been delicious. Next time I want to try the lemongrass chicken. They also have a nice variety of non-alcoholic drinks (in addition to alcoholic drinks), which I appreciate, including shirley temples. It would be nice, however, if the noodle dishes came with rice instead of having to order it separately. But what really stands out about Silver Tray is the staff. The women and men who work there are some of the friendliest and most kind wait staff I've ever met. Every time I have been there, these 2 women have been there (I think they (or one of them) might be the owner) and they are just delightful. Even when I called on the phone for a take-out order their friendliness came through. They also are prompt with getting us our food, but do not rush us at all. Sometimes Silver Tray is not as full as other restaurants, but many people come and pick up take-out. I think that is because a lot of people like to eat thai food on the couch, not because of the restaurant itself. I also like that Silver Tray has a really nice, CLEAN, ambiance unlike many of the Thai restaurants on the Ave.

Silver Tray is one of the best kept secrets of Wallingford! I think that is because its newer and in a building that used to be a pretty bad restaraunt. Don't be discouraged by the plethora of hilarious misspellings on the menu - means the food must be authentic, riiiiighht? The people who work here are so cute and nice. So far when I've gone we've been the only people in the restaurant and they have waited on us hand and foot. Order this: Pumpkin Curry, Duck Curry, Avacado Curry, Spicy fried duck w/basil dish (don't remember the name, but SO good!) Pros: Fast, Friendly service, Delicious food, nice atmosphere Cons: a little bit spendy, charge 1.50 extra for rice (person thing that drives me crazy about many thai places! If you order curry, it should come w/rice in my opinion) Really was conflicted whether to give this a 4 or 5, definitely at least a 4.5 start place!

I was a little bit grumpy about trying this restaurant because it was so hard to find parking nearby, and the restaurant was fairly empty, which made me nervous. Fortunately, my boyfriend insisted that his coworkers rave about this place, so we gave it a try. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was very good. We tried the pumpkin red curry and the coriander beef, and the flavor and texture were very good. At 3 stars, the spice level was just right for us--very flavorful, but not too hot. If you're already nearby or you don't mind hunting for parking, give them a try!

This place is fairly new and delicious! The service is amazing! They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and make sure you are happy. When we asked the server what his favourite dish was, he told us and said it reminds him of Thailand. We ordered his favourite dishes and when the meal arrived, he brought us some sauces and told us which one he puts on what dish. The meal was very spicy and just as amazing as their service and friendliness.

Pretty darn good food and service. I'm very glad to have a delicious Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. I've seriously never liked phad thai and I never understood why people liked it so much until I experienced Silver Tray's phad thai which is definitely something worth going back for! Perfectly tasty without being too sweet or too oily. They charge extra for rice which is a bummer. This is a Thai restaurant, right? The rice is an essential part of the entrée. Who is their right mind would eat curry without rice?!? Even Panera offers you a side of baguette when you order a baguette sandwich!! So minus 1 star for that.

A wonderful new place in Wallingford. The atmosphere was very pleasant; open, inviting, a lot of natural light. The staff were very friendly and in a genuine way. Since this is a Thai restaurant I was expecting a lot of noodle dishes but I was pleasantly surprised by the range of menu options. My dish, the Bangkok Chicken, was flavorful and the spiciness complimented the dish, not overpowering. The prices (about $10-$14 per dish) are well in proportion to the amount of food and the quality. Overall, I would highly recommend the Silver Tray and I hope to return soon!

Really pleasantly surprised by this place! My mom was in town and wanted just some really good simple Thai food. Their Tom Yum soup tasted really homemade like someone's mom made it, very strong sour flavors, and the chicken in it wasn't dry like most places. Everything tasted really fresh and not overcooked. Also had the Phad See Iew and Beef Pepper Steak, both of which again were made well and not over-saturated with goopy sauces and limp veggies. The beef was tender and my pork in the noodle dish was moist! Very reasonable prices too for dinner.

Forget everything you remember about the place that was in this location before! Silver Tray is clean and nicely/simply decorated and the folks who work there are super friendly. And the food so far tastes fresh, and they have some unusual items on the menu. We had a light meal on our first visit. The tom kha soup was different in a good way - it had a tangy flavor more than sweet or creamy, but quite tasty. The green curry with avocado may sound kind of strange but it is delicious. I went back again for lunch a week later to try the red curry with pumpkin and the phad thai, both of which were very good. Phad thai is my standard test dish for any Thai restaurant, and I'm happy to report that this was the best I've had in a long time - very fresh and light, not too goopy or greasy or too sweet or overcooked, with lots of fresh veggies and peanuts for garnish. Yay! These folks are off to a great start and I encourage you to support them. With so much mediocre Thai food in abundance here, it's great to have a new place that is a cut above the usual.

Worst Thai food I have ever had. I ordered the Pad Thai to go and it was inedible. It had a really off putting smell and taste. Seriously the worst pad thai that I have ever had. I do not advise eating here.

Only have eaten here once. Great service, nice cozy atmosphere. Had red and green curry, both were delicious, and the price for a lunch special was a very good value. Would definitely come again many times.

My husband and I are very loyal to another Thai place just down the street, but thought we'd give Silver Tray a try. It was great! We got takeout, and the woman on the phone was lovely. Also, pickup was great and everyone was very friendly. I had Pad Thai with tofu, and I really enjoyed it. There wasn't a gloppy sauce, and the flavor was great. And there were more than 5 pieces of tofu in it (a pet peeve of mine for other places)! Also, the tofu was clearly fried there, and not just pulled from a package. We also got the Crab Delight (crab rangoons), and my husband got Orange Chicken. Both of those were quite good. Our 'regular place' now has some serious competition. I look forward to trying other things on their menu!

I ordered the red curry chicken at 4 stars, I was pleased with my order, chicken fresh and tasty, and the 4 stars were spot on, dang spicy. GF got the beef pad Thai, neither of us were impressed with this dish. Beef was chewy paper thin and had a weird sweet taste/smell to it, we don't think it was fresh. The noodles were missing the little chunks of tamarind we are so use to, and missing a whole lot of fried egg. Not sure what sauce is in pad Thai but there wasn't much of that either. So far this place is reminding us of the old Lotus Thai Cuisine.

This place is AMAZING. Their 2* is spivey enough and they have some of the BEST panang curry I've had in a while. We decided to eat here because of all the ratings and I want to make sure they continue to get more reviews and customers because as their food is amazing, their service is even better. Always right there when I was out of water. Food was fast. It's about the usual price and we didn't have leftovers so that was sad. But they're never as good anyway. I would come back here over other Thai places because of service and just for that curry it was that good. And their pad Thai wasn't over "ketchuppy" in fact it wasn't red at all. It was great.

What fun to be able to walk a few blocks to a fabulous Thai restaurant! On the recommendation of another Yelper, we ordered the green avocado curry and the stir-fried eggplant. Super, super yummy. That, together with super service and quite a decent glass of chardonnay (and a very generous pour) made our weekly night out a special treat. We'll be back - there's lots of menu left to explore! (Oh yes, it's nice and quiet and thankfully, no TV.)

I can definitely say the Silver Tray is a place not to be missed in Wallingford. My husband and I went for the first time shortly after the restaurant opened. It was so much better than the previous Thai restaurant. We felt welcomed by the staff as soon as we attived and the food did not disappoint. My husband had panang curry chicken and I had the spicy red pumpkin curry. Both dishes were Thai hot with the right amount of kick without overpowering the flavor of the food. We walked away completely satisfied. Tonight we went back again to confirm that everything was just as good as we remembered. Wow, it was even better. My husband ordered the same dish and I went with the avacado green curry this time. The dishes were amazing. In fact, we commented that we were glad we ate our meals with chopsticks to slow us down a bit. Both dishes were so good we couldn't get enough. Apple and Lucky, the owners, were thankful for our visit. They are the types of business neighbors we want to stay in Wallingford. Go say hi, try Silver Tray's food and spread the word. YuuuuUUUMM!!

This place is really good. I was feeling something some Thai food, and since I live about a 2 minutes' walk away, I figured I'd give it a try. Definitely worth it. After being sat at the table, we got a complimentary salad from the kitchen with a peanut sauce dressing. Not the first thing I would have expected on a salad, but it was actually quite good; had the right balance of tangy and sweet, with a little bit of kick. I ordered the Angel Wings appetizer and the Hot and Spicy Duck with 3 stars - their "spicy" rating. My one very slight issue is that both dishes came out at the same time.. a little odd as far as I'm concerned, but the food was served hot enough that it was still hot by the time I had finished the appetizer and gotten to the entree (a plus in my book). The Angel Wings in and of itself could have been a meal for some; large pieces of chicken stuffed with beans, rice noodles of some kind, and more, and served with a standard plum sauce. Upon returning, will definitely get this again. Now for the Hot and Spicy Duck. Damn good. The duck is served in a curry (?) sauce of sorts with green beans and bell peppers, giving it a nice combination of textures from the soft duck to the crisp vegetables. As stated in other reviews, they charge just over a dollar for an order of rice to accompany the dish (I also found this odd, but oh well). Still, a very solid dish, but being one of the higher priced dishes on the menu, it could definitely be substituted for a different dish which would likely be just as good. As a final note, and I'm not too certain what my tolerance for spiciness is, but I didn't find the duck to be as spicy as I was expecting. Granted, I played it safe by going with the 3 stars (I didn't want it to be too spicy to be inedible), but for the adventurous out there who like very spicy food, I'd recommend the 4 or 5 star on their spicy scale.

The nicest people and really delicious Thai food. It's kind of hidden in an unexpected spot and doesn't look like much from the outside but it's a trick! Go in! Great customer service and food.

I've been eating Thai food since birth, so I can say that the foods here are really good. Many of the dishes taste just like home. Those dishes that have been adapted are done so quite masterfully. Given that this is not Thailand, many other Thai places understandably substitute certain ingredients to get by, but Silver Tray seems to take the opportunity to thoughtfully and playfully enhance the flavors of the original cuisine to create an adapted yet authentic version. I enjoy not only the foods, but I also the hospitality of the two owners, who operate the place themselves everyday and keep it cozy. They are also really friendly and quite eager to help. Great experience every time!

I have been to Silver Tray three times and I am treated very well and promptly waited on each time (definitely better service than more expensive thai places nearby). I always get various kind of chicken curry and it's always great. Bravo, highly recommend.

Gal loved the spicy duck. She has looked all over Seattle for this and was elated by it here. My eggplant black bean was great (free meat on request EXCEPT beef or seafood). Very friendly prompt service. Our new go-to Thai (good thing Thai Tom was packed so we came here).

Great find! The owners (our servers) are delightful and the food simply delicious. We had the Lab (ground pork) salad--lemongrass, mint, shallots, cilantro, and lettuce with a perfect spicy-sweet dressing. The Pineapple Curry fried rice--we added prawns--was light, fluffy and we added the spiciest of spices, something with a fish sauce and Thai chili the owner recommended that we had access to on the side (always nice). We also had the green beans with Pad Prick King Sauce which has spicy peanuty and lime leaves flavor to die for. We loved our afternoon here. We will be back!

Wow, so delicious! We have been in the "we don't need another Thai restaurant in Wallingford" crowd, but after our meal I feel differently. This is our new Thai restaurant. We ordered our food delivered and got spicy duck (I have not had duck i years because it can be too rich, but this was perfection), pumpkin curry with tofu (could not get enough of this) and yellow curry pineapple rice (also delicious). I wish they didn't have the $20 minimum for delivery, but other than that cannot say anything that we were not completely pleased with!

We were going to a movie next door and had about 25 minutes for dinner. The owners are wonderful, helpful and got us our food within 10 minutes. And the food was really, really good. I had the Pad Thai which was the authentic dish and as good as I've had in a restaurant. My husband had the Panang Curry and he loved his as well. We are creatures of habit and so have tasted those two dishes at every Thai restaurant we go to. Can't say we've had it any better anywhere else. We will definitely be back!!

I stumbled upon this gem while exploring Seattle. From the second I walked in the door I felt at ease from the simple decor, mouth watering smells and fabulous staff! Ordering was easy and not stressful, good prices and variety without a crowded menu! I went with the recommended pad thai as a first timer and some Jasmine tea. The portions were perfect and more than plenty, the taste is top notch and some of the freshest food I have had in a while! I had a few good conversations with the owners without feeling disrupted or rushed. It was a pleasant experience and I left with a big smile on my face! Highly recommended!

A friend and I came here for lunch based on the reviews and were very pleased with it. The service was excellent, the food tasted fresh and good. The price $7.99 for the lunch special that comes with soup and egg rolls is a fantastic bargain. I had the phad see something and it was scrum yum. My friend had the phad thai and said it was good too. I am eager to try their curries as those are my favorite dishes. It is nice to have another good thai place in the neighborhood.

Glad to have another Thai option in Wallingford. The staff is super nice and the food is nearly as good as it gets in the $10 range. Serving sizes are big -- not huge but decent. We had the Phad Thai and Yellow Curry. Both were above average and the service was really quick. I wish Wallingford had a decent Thai place with $6-$8 plates that I could love as my everyday place but until it does, this will be my go to spot for good Thai at a reasonable price (their prices are comparable to Jhanjay but it's less crowded, offers bigger portions, and I thought the staff was nicer too). Looks like they plan to offer outdoor seating in the summer! Also, they have those peppers in fish sauce on the condiment tray and I love that. TL:DR Great all-around Thai place. Price is right, food is good, staff is awesome.

To the point, this is the best Thai restaurant I have experienced in Seattle. Many of the creations have a special nuance and confluence of flavors that blend in exquisite balance. The owner Lucky is gracious and clearly has passion for her creation. All takes place in a simple, modest, clean and welcoming environment. This restaurant has the "recipe" to grow by word of mouth and will. Treat yourself to wonderful, home cooked Thai food. You'll be glad you did! I wish Lucky and her family much success in this understated, standout restaurant!

Where's the 6-star rating when you need it? :-) We decided to check out this new entry to Wallingford, and are we ever glad we did. Their food is VERY fresh and flavorful, and it has a some slightly different flavors and subtleties. We started with the Crab (Rangoon) Delight, which was some of the best that we've eaten in a long time. There was an ample serving and the dipping sauce compliments it perfectly--not too sweet, too hot, nor too heavy. The Yum Nam Sod pork salad is exquisite. A very well-balanced blend of flavors that tickle the taste buds. They offer a wonderful foursome of hot sauces for those (like me) who want to power boost the heat and flavor factors. Their fish sauce with peppers sauce is awesome, as is their in-house Sriracha-style red chili sauce. The spousal unit had her usual, Phad Thai, while I dove into one of my standards, Panang Curry chicken (4-stars). The Phad Thai was excellent, again with some subtleties not found in most pedestrian Thai restaurants. My curry was also very good, especially with some of that fish sauce with peppers sauce slathered on top. We did not save room for dessert, but we will be back!! The owner, Lucky, and her husband, Apple, are both very gracious hosts and their service is top notch. Highly recommend that you not wait as long as we did to try this jewel!!

I went to restaurant furst time on grand opening night. The owners, Ple and Lucky was very pleasant and friendly. Love the atmosphere when you walk in the restaurant. They recommended me to try Avocado Green Curry, pumpkin red curry, coriander beef, angle wings. They were not disappointing. Starting with appetizers, love love angel wings. I think that is the name. It is not oily and stuffing inside is so tasty. Coriander beef is so tender and juicy. The owner is highly recommended it. Green curry, I love avocado but never think about avocado in curry. It just goes so well together. Pumpkin red curry, this one was slightly too sweet for my taste. I actually went back for their noodle dishes. Phad see eew was pretty good. Phad thai was not that juicy but tasty. I would definitely go back.
