We had the sweetest waitress ever who was very helpful and gave us excellent recommendations! We came here for the oysters and ended up ordering some calamari and drinks as well. Our server was nice enough to let my friend have a sample of a beer he was unsure about ordering. She also kept checking on us and made sure we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying the food. The kushi oysters were so fresh and sweet and perfect for a midday snack :) The calamari was well seasoned and very crispy too. I'd definitely come back! It's nearby a lot of stores where you can shop and then enjoy some delicious fresh bites~

Went there on a weekend trip after cocktails at the terrace bar. The restaurant is located in the Fairmont Olympic lower level. Atmosphere is classic upscale oyster bar, lots of wood, brass, and booths. We sat on the street level patio which was very nice on a warm breezy night. After seeing some of hte portions other groups were getting we decided to split a couple of things and were glad we did! Started with the house chopped salad that had shrimp and crab with a green goddess dressing. Absolutely wonderful, fresh and not over dressed as many chopped salads can be. We then shared the mixed grill with salmon, halibut, mussels, shrimp, scllops and crab mac and cheese. Again - excellent (especially the mac and cheese which was rich but not overdone). The only complaint on the food was that both fishes, while with excellent flavor, were a tad bit overcooked. The only other issue was that the patio was right next to the hotel entrance which was where all the smoling guests of hte non-smoking hotel came to get a hit. Perhaps designating a special smoking area away from the dining patrons would be a better solution. Had w known we would have opted to eat inside, which was non-smoking.

One of the best oyster bars I've been too! What a venue...ambience was great. Oysters? Best I've ever had and I've had some from the West coast, East coats and the Gulf Shores. CREAMY oysters were to die for! Don't hesitate, visit this place if you're in town!

Definitely not the cheapest place, but the food is very good. It's rich and flavorful without being too heavy. I had half a dozen oysters on the half shell. I let the bartender pick an assortment and I liked all three kinds. For my main course I had the scallops, which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. They had the right amount of chewiness to them; not close to overdone. If/when I'm back in Seattle, I'll visit again simply because the food was so good and the service superb.

I found myself in downtown on a weekday evening and wanted some good seafood! Shuckers was the closest so my group and I decided to give it a try. We were seated right away and ordered a dozen raw oysters (waiter's choice). They were delicious! So we then ordered another round of the ones we hadn't tried in the first round. Delicious once again! The vinigerette, lemon and cocktail sauce that came with the oysters was a nice touch as well. After all of the oysters I went ahead and ordered the adult grilled cheese with tomato soup. The restaurant was a tad crmaped but it had a nice atmosphere, a god menu and was a good place to grab some quality seafood downtown.

Excellent oysters as you'd expect. Crazy prices but expected that as well. Would definitely go back!

Lovely place. Whenever I go there for lunch, no matter how long it's been since I last went, the hostess remembers me.

Delicious and classy. During our weekend in Seattle, we came to be highly impressed by the city's culinary offerings and Shuckers was no exception. From the charming host to the delicious food to the polished service, this restaurant was one of the better meals we've had in this lovable city. We shared the crab cocktail (yummy), half a dozen oysters (delicious) and seafood Paella (hearty and flavorful), along with a nice glass of Italian white. Recommended if you're looking to celebrate or take out a date to an elegant meal.

Nice spot for seafood in a casual but slightly upscale/traditional atmosphere. It is inside the Fairmont hotel lower level. Host was very friendly and clearly knew how to handle lone diners. She offered me a choice of table or bar even with only a few tables available -- then even offered some reading materials. Lots of families were here and a few couples -- it's not really romantic but still a lively place to go. The king wild salmon tasted great and was prepared well. The presentation of the mash potatoes did look oddly artificial by being so perfectly shaped and symmetric but tasted great. The clams casino also tasted great. Service was fast and friendly here. At $35 for the salmon, it isn't a steal but seems market for wild king salmon in this area. I think this place is a solid choice for seafood but you will pay for what you get.

Went here for New Year's Eve dinner. I started off with a few fresh oysters, all of them were excellent. I liked how they had the oysters displayed and had descriptions of their tastes. I tend to forget which ones I like and this helped. For my entree I had the scallops, they were incredible. Another member of our party had the black cod, this was by far the best thing that any of us had ordered it was cooked to perfection. Another member ordered a steak and was unimpressed, however I don't think Seattle has the best steaks and I wouldn't order steak at a seafood place so I would have expected this. For dessert we all split the blackberry and blueberry tart, I'm not much of fruit person when it comes to desserts but this was really great and enjoyable. Our waiter was very personable and helpful throughout the meal, he recommended our dessert as his favorite and we were all glad we listened. I was really interested in trying out some of their baked oyster options so that is reason enough for me to return.

Great happy hour oysters, nice decor. Pretty expensive outside happy hour. Standard Cocktails like Martina's and French 75 underwhelming.

I never wanna go back to this place. I am so sick after having dinner here. I think it is a food poisoning. Also I had a high expectation about copper river salmon since the last time I had it at Dahlia, but they charge $50 for tiny little untasteful piece of fish with very awkward taste garnishes. I waited all year for this copper river salmon, but this place totally ruined it and It makes me so sick during my vacation. Awful.....

I read the reviews and had high expectations of this place. When I saw how expensive it was once looking at the menu, I was still hoping for delicious food! We ordered oysters. My coworker ordered raw. I can't do raw so I ordered a couple of the baked ones. Surprising th e were good. Not NOLA baked oysters good, but tasty. I ordered the ribeye steak meal. Came with two veggie sides as ordered. The asparagus was grilled nicely, the French green beans were also tasty. I ordered my steak Medium. I usually go for medium well, but starting to realize that some "chefs" don't know what the means. So I orders Medium hoping to get the perfect balance of tender and juicy. The steak came out very well done! After I had a very informative conversation with Steve, the wait staff memeber. My coworker ordered the paella. It looked good. I tasted a small bit of the fish and they were good. The rice looked like white rice. I didn't see any saffron spice at all. I wouldn't have wanted that. Not every place can make paella. So, needless to say, I sent that steak back. It took forever. My coworker was way done with is meal before my plate came back. During this process the manager (a female) came over and asked how the meal was going. When I showed her my steak and said "not well" she simply walked away. Not one single other word was said to me. Steve brought my steak meal back, finally. While the steak was closer to being the way I ordered it, it just wasn't good. The kind of steak meal I am accustomed to in high end resturants was not this. It was in no way, shape, or form worth what I paid for it. I was offered a second glass of wine for my patience and trouble. It wasn't an even trade in my opinion. If I'd not been super hungry, I would have just told them to forget the meal all together. Lastly, because I really wanted something to be good here, I orders the Creme Brule. It was good. Not the best I've had, but decent. It was Vanilla Bean, which happens to be my favorite so I went for it. The waiter took this off the bill as well. Because he was a good waiter and the messed up food wasn't his fault, we left him a very generous tip.

I stayed at the W and walked by this place several times a day. The food looked great, so I wanted to try something before I left on my trip. I ordered take out from here.. All in all in took 10 minutes to prepare from when I called. I ordered the Cesar's salad with delicious dungeness crab meat, and a side of Mac and Cheese with some more of that goodness of crab. Food was great, as I assumed. Large chunks of crab in both the salad and Mac & Cheese.

Pricey but worth every dollar! We had a sampler of baked oysters. They were cooked perfectly browned on top with the plump oysters warmed through underneath. Then we had half order of clams chorizo which were a huge portion and each one super fresh and succulent. For mains were the roasted Rosemary Dungeness crab and King salmon. Salmon was as typical as one would expect but the portion was rather small for the 38 tag. Crab was excellent with great roasted fingerling potatoes. Then came the blueberry pie with a sour cream ice cream which was smooth and different from usual vanilla. Chocolate cake was monstrous and easily shareable by 4 people! Darla our waitress took great care of us and paced our feast perfectly giving plenty of time between courses. The experience justified the $$$ with great service and super fresh seafood.

We ate there twice in the last four days. We had a great meal Friday night -- the crab mac and cheese was special, and my husband said the oysters were great. But where this place really shined was last night (Saturday night), when we had had an horrific experience at another place (see my review about Cutter's) and were tired and hungry. And pissed. Shuckers got us in at the bar, and the bartender, Samantha, singlehandedly turned around our entire night. My husband got his oysters, I got steamed clams, and she even brought me an extra glass of Proseco (spelling?) which was delightful. And Samantha was such a hustler it was amazing -- serving food, making drinks. That guy on Bar Rescue would have loved her. Our server on Friday night, Tori, was also exceptional, friendly, informed, and attentive. Shuckers is just great. Do not miss going there.

The ambiance in there was amazing.reminiscent of a 70s gone steakhouse. We tried every oyster they had and were not disappointed.why do the tastiest have to be the smallest...highly recommend for their oysters

I have a huge bias against hotel restaurants especially in a city like Seattle with so much great food. I wouldn't put Shuckers at the top of your list if you're visiting, but if you need a good lunch spot near the Fairmont, Shuckers is a great choice. We posted up at the bar, got some great service and some good food: - Solid oysters: Malaspina, Bayne's Sound, Kumamoto - Very Good Pan Seared Crab Cakes - Good Seared Ahi Tuna For a hotel restaurant, definitely 4 stars.

I took my parents who were visiting Seattle to this restaurant. My husband nor I don't eat oysters, so this was our first time visiting here. I don't usually like oysters, but their smoked oysters(?) were surprisingly really good and not stinky at all! Their calamari was crispy and again really good. You could tell ingredients were fresh from the taste! Also, the seafood chowder were amazing! I was expecting to get something cranky, thick, and creamy white color chowder you normally get from restaurants, but they were much more sophisticated! Their chowder were red color (tomato base(?) ) soup, and was simply good. My only complaint is the shape of the cup that soup came in with. The cup shape is a square, so you can't scoop the last drop of soup.

Pro-oysters..even allowed us soy sauce and Tabasco, choices were great, cocktail sauce was perfect and the vinagrette was better than the iced pink champagne that most higher end seafood restaurants provide. Pro- drinks, average price for glasses of wine, also provided beer and scotch flight Con- all market fish are just pan seared or grilled, no special sauces. Lobster mashed potatoes was not memorable. Boxed garlic mashed potatoes would be better. Very bland and too simple for a high price. Con- tables too small to have bread and salads on table at the same time. Con-portions for main entrees are unbelievably small. Attempt another seafood joint to compare and see what I mean, take Elliott's or Brooklyn's steak and oyster house, you will enjoy those places better. If you can travel here, those other restaurants would only be an additional ten minutes to your driving. Good luck and best of finding a restaraunt you enjoy both in flavor and service.

Shuckers is by far one of my favorite seafood spots in North America by far! My very first visit was just stopping in for lunch on a week day back in late November of 2012. I had this waiter named Phil or Phillip who seemed okay at first, but then he just continued to grow more rude as my dinning experience progressed. I sat across from a couple who was being waited on by a waitress who I would come to find out is name Jelena. She gave them a very pleasant experience and Phil didn't come Phil-up my water once! I didn't go in for about a year, and decided to come back in 2013 for the seared scallops. Which has become one of my favorite summer dishes for it's consistent excellent flavor, texture, and presentation! A few months later, during a lunch, Jelena was my waitress. She was also waiting on a gentleman who apparently is very allergic to garlic, the cook had sent out a dish to him with garlic and she caught it in time and really saved the day! This gentleman was so thankful, and I was thankful to learn Phil had become dust in the wind. I'm so glad I decided to come back in over the years, because every lunch & dinner experience in Shuckers has been a consistent 5-Star pleasure with every server, especially Jelena!

Great location, yummy food. An eclectic mix of seafood in appetizers, soups, salads & entrees as well as steak, chicken & vegetarian choices. Also great cocktails, "Spring in Paris" is delish. Service is great, everyone engaging & helpful. Favorite dish, crab & artichoke gratin.

My boyfriend and I had dinner here for our anniversary and we had the pleasure of having Jay as our server. He was super friendly and helpful with making recommendations. In addition to the great customer service, this place has an old school charm that I really liked. For appetizers we got oysters and they were awesome. I got the black cod which was cooked perfectly and served with creamy potatoes. My boyfriend got scallops and they were just OK.

Went here for Happy Hour with my brother and it was the BEST ever!!! They have this amazing flat cheese bread that I was addicted to. We finished them all :-) But we split a dozen oysters which were delicious with 3 kinds of sauces & lemon, salmon sliders, & popcorn shrimp!!! I wish we could have stayed here forever! We may return for dessert tonight!!!

Call for reservations because this place gets busy even on weekdays and rightfully so. The service and food are top notch all complimented by a traditional upscale seafood restaurant atmosphere. Nothing unexpected here, good or bad, which is what I like in my PNW seafood restaurants. I recommend the Dungeness Ceasar Salad...absolutely amazing.

Probably one of the best seafood I've had at a restaurant! Shuckers is located inside the historic Fairmont hotel. The restaurant is not modern at all. However, there's something about the 1930s' oak paneling and tin ceiling that gives it a certain charm. Classy nonetheless. As soon as we walked in, my mother noticed that none of the servers were young adults. All of the servers are mature experienced severs, mostly in their 50s or 60s. Our server was absolutely amazing. He gave us great suggestions and was very attentive with us. As for food, we ordered the steamed clams, in white wine, garlic butter, and chorizo, for an appetizer. The clams were great: the chorizo gave it a smoky flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the wild seared scallops, with grilled asparagus, and grain mustard mashed potatoes. OMG! I don't ever think I tasted scallops as good as the ones here. Everything was done perfectly: from the scallops to the asparagus. And I'm not even a fan of mashed potatoes, but the mashed potatoes were delicious. Food was great and so was the service. I would not hesitate twice to come back here again if in Seattle.

First of all, I felt that I was robbed after the lunch. It was really expensive. I am an Asian and I feel somewhat the waiters don't like me. I have been to a lot of restaurants in Seattle, but I have never had similar feelings like that.

I love this place!!! This was apparently the only place decent opened on Xmas day that doesn't really cost a fortune either that's how I ended up here... I'm so glad that I did! The oysters may be the freshest I ever had. Seafood chowder was really good (but seriously a bowl was too much for me, should have got a cup!), the crab Mac and cheese was so yummy that I finished within minute (and it was freshly out of oven hot!). It was so good that I had to come back one last time for happy hour before I leave town... $1.50/each oyster and half price on the draft beer? Definitely recommend it! Thanks for the great experiences!

Smells of rich mahogany! A great place to come for all things oyster -- specifically, for their happy hour. I consider myself lord of the oyster, an oyster junkie if you may, and this place rivals Walrus and the Carpenter for perfect oysters: well-shucked with that slight sea-salt and sweet "algae" taste (you people know what I'm talkin' bout!!). Shuckers has a large variety of fresh oysters which are well worth paying top dollar when your pinky's up and your society hat is on, but if you can make it here for happy hour (which is at an inconvenient and I'm sure by-design non-happy hour time of day), it's well worth it for the 2 dollar an oyster special. It's called "Shuckers" for the love of God. Second -- this is a great restaurant to go for dinner, a serious place for serious food peeps if you want to get right down to it. Don't let its close proximity to the Fairmount fool you: It's not just a joint for stuffy old folks (although you can be sure there will be quite a few monocles hanging about, good for people watching). The food is classic American / Pacific Northwest and is all around solid cooking; nothing hoity toity, fussed over or gastro about this place (except maybe the prices). It's a great place for dates with close proximity to everything downtown. I recommend the food specials... specifically anything that is written up on the Daily Specials chalk board (usually it's a few types of freshly caught fish: halibut, salmon, scallops).

  • Mary B.

I not in the habit of giving 5 stars, but the impeccable, attentive service, preparation and presentation of food was excellent. Although we only ordered three dishes, they were all executed with finesse. My halibut fish and chips were steps above any previous serving I've had and the clams in chorizo sauce was so g...o...o..d! I highly recommend a dining experience if staying at the Fairmont or visiting Seattle!

Finally writing about our dinner there in August when we were pointed there for good seafood when we didn't want to walk too far in the rain. Extremely classy with prices to match, we were welcomed even through we were in casual clothes. Impressive oysters and other seafood specialities with excellent professional wait and bar staff. For a hotel restaurant, this was much better than expected, but you pay for it.

Really solid lunch spot (only did lunch). Salmon plate as app was great. Fresh. Had a piece of cooked salmon for lunch one day, fish and chips (fantastic. Easy to peel away fried). Salmon club sandwich next day. Very good. Potato wedge fries are strong. Service a little slow but not horrible. Staff pretty friendly.

Our first meal in Seattle....I have to say it was definitely worth it! Not a stuffy restaurant like it initially looked...we came in with 4 hungry kids in tow. Would definitely recommend the crab Mac and cheese, the crab and artichoke dip, the crab Louie salad....which had TONS of crab on it! The service was excellent and you definitely got the quality you paid for...and ALL the kids were happy! Oh! And don't forget the Bloody Mary.....perfection!!!

Horrible service, no one was even in the restaurant and took over an hour to have the it prepared. Them employees were rude and just a horrible experience overall If you're looking for oysters in the area I would recommend going elsewhere. Too bad Elliot's oyster bar was closed

When my girlfriend and I touched down in Seattle I was wicked jet-lagged: I thought Chicago was in the middle of the country, therefore the flight West would be the same as the flight home East. Turns out the flight to Seattle was like 5 hours from Chicago and even though I was only awake to overhear in a half-dream a few seconds of stewardess conversation about a passenger in medical emergency it was rough on my constitution. The only cure for that kind of thing is oysters. Shuckers had three different kinds of Washington State oysters on special for happy hour. The interior of the restaurant is dark wood and clubby: it reminded me of a through-the-looking-glass version of a Boston hotel bar. The service was top notch, professional, informative, a great story about Milpa Bay oysters. My favorite were the Amai oysters in their yellow shells.

HAPPY HOUR ONLY! weekdays -4pm - 5pm $1.50 My friends and I were visiting Seattle and had high hopes and dreams about devouring delicious, tasty oysters for cheap! We rounded up all the happy hour joints in a nearby proximity and went HH oyster bar hopping. Shuckers was our last stop because it was the pricier option. After devouring 90+ oysters earlier, I would trade all of that for half the amount from Shuckers. The quality of the oysters looked hand picked, it was served cold and very, very clean. (unlike the previous places) They were small but extremely satisfying. What you imagine to be the perfect oyster, not fishy nor pasty, not too big or too little, just right, just perfect. The inside of the restaurant is super swank! Mahogany wood finishes on walls and furniture. Kind of reminds me of the Italian mob era kind of fancy. Like you should be smoking cigars and drinking neat. Definitely dress up if you decide to dine inside! The service was very slow and I think they forgot that we were even there, maybe because we were there for HH.

Very disappointed! First thing walking into restaurant funky smell- must have been the oysters. Waitress not very friendly at all, never introduced herself or smiled. Reached across myself several times while eating. Bread was very tough and chewy. Fried oysters and seafood paella were both overcooked. Won't be returning

We came here for a business lunch. My first time. Kinda old school type establishment but very cool. We started with nice fresh oysters and they were very good. My boss ordered the king salmon and it looked delicious, the other coworker ordered the blackened cod that looked equally as good. They both seemed very satisfied with their orders. I on the other hand was trying to be good since I'm trying to lose weight and this diet crap is really getting on my nerves ordered the seafood chop salad. It consisted of finely chopped romaine, shrimp, avocado, celery, egg, yada yada yada..... with a blue cheese dressing. It was topped with a good crab claw hunk, and two monster prawns. The salad was alright, I just wish I wasn't so fat and could've enjoyed some real food. AND... do try the seafood chowder, it was great.

A bit on the expensive side, but they need to pay the rent especially since it's located within an expensive hotel. All in all, the food was excellent. I had the seafood paella after reading my fellow Yelpers reviews. Yes, I'll testify that it is really flavorful and probably the best flavored rice I've ever had coming from a picky person. The seafood is pretty impressive on the top of this thing. I also ordered a crab louie for a starter which was also very good.

Was in seattle for vacation with my wife. Stumbled on this place.(literally haha) We were looking for good oysters, so shuckers sounded right. They had a good variety of fresh oysters( I think like 10 that night) on display on iced pales that you can pick which ones you want. Kind of pricey but after we tasted them and had excellent service at the bar it was worth it. We even had them prepare a few Rockefeller. We must have had 3 dozen oysters. Definitely come back if we come back to Seattle

This elegant place is in a hotel with street entrance which was convenient. It has a saloon old fashion feel. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We ordered oysters for our starter and sampled all six different ones with a side of fresh chopped horseradish. The oysters were very fresh and yummy. My main course was the rosemary Dungeness crab. This crab must have been marinated in a rosemary bath because the flavor was fabulous and the large pieces of meat was cooked superbly. It beats my favorite place to eat crab (SF, Cali). The other dish I got to sample was the Steelhead salmon and that was simply sweet and moist of perfection. We ended dinner with a chocolate cake perfect for two or maybe four...but we finished it. Yummy!

Everything was amazing. My party tried the calamari, seafood chowder, mixed grill, fried halibut platter, and last but not least the mud pie. Best meal we had in a very long time and our waitress was very nice and a great service provider. If you have a small appetite, all you need is the crab Mac and cheese and the mud pie.

  • Nick B.

We were very disappointed in the quality of the food for the price. I ordered the seared ahi with lobster mashed potatoes. The Ahi was very dry and the potatoes had very little flavor. My wife ordered the seafood paella. The rice was undercooked and the chicken was very over cooked. The seafood in her dish was good. The service was very slow and mildly friendly at best. We will not go back especially given that we spent over $100 for 2 people.

I went there for dinner with my boyfriend, we both thought it was a really nice place for romantic dinner! The oyster was perfect, so does the seafood soup! Rounding down on a 2.5 Cue Huey Lewis and the News: "Gotta get back in time"- straight to the 80's, when mullets were acceptable and "hot" preceding (choose your color) was preferred attire. That's what you might feel when you land your lubbers at Shuckers. The name is known around Seattle, so when a good friend from outta town- who was checked in at the Fairmont, asked to meet up for late dinner- how could I resist? Well, dinner was a little late- so we decided to go with a few rounds of apps instead. We definitely wanted to do seafood, as that is the specialty. So, we went with some apps: The oysters: not bad, we had, I believe- 6 or 7 pairs of different varities- pretty fresh and a nice sampling. Shrimp cocktail- pretty good, nothing to moan over, but a ok. Calamari: Meh, nothing special- rather ordinary fried squid in a tame aioli. The wine selection is nice- and we shared a great bottle of red. The Staff: waitress attempted to remember our order- you know without writing it down...this always makes me a little wary. Note to fancy restaurants: IT IS OKAY TO WRITE THINGS DOWN. She forgot a few things we ordered and came back a couple of times to double check. I guess I should be grateful she checked, rather than going with her gut. Anyway- I'd come here once, just to see what life in Seattle must have looked like in the 80s. DeLorean. Flux Capacitor. Hey McFly. With a name like Shuckers, it oughta be great

Husband wanted good seafood within walking distance downtown for our last night in Seattle. We ended up at Shuckers because they got decent reviews and took reservations (we didn't feel like fighting crowds on a Friday night). We were seated promptly upon arrival. The decor seems more East Coast than West Coast but I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. The bread basket had a nice assortment of carbs that we readily sampled. The husband ordered the Wild King Salmon off the fresh fish board. He was over the moon with it, declaring it some of the best fish he'd ever had and was seriously considering ordering a second plate. It was decently priced at $38 and came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I got the fried chicken (which the waiter enjoyed saying in a southern accent wayyyy too much). It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Nothing on the plate was that amazing. The chicken, which came in four pieces, was a little dry. The beans were somewhat tough and bland. And the mashed potatoes - well, I'm starting to think West Coast chefs don't know the miracle that is real butter.

Definitely a place with a stodgy vibe, but we had an amazingly fun time. Great food, great cocktails, and a great waiter made for a night we probably won't forget. I definitely recommend.

Amazing Food. Spectacular Service. I came to Seattle for business and wanted to treat myself out for some delicious food. This place is a few blocks away from Pikes Place Public Market and is located right in the middle of downtown. It is located in the Fairmont hotel which is a sight to behold in itself. Upon walking I was greeted with a very concierge and they offered to take my coat. Offered me a seat with little to no time, without a reservation. I got a bit lucky because right after we were seated, tons of people came in. The ambiance here is nice. A bit dark, but it adds to its style. A lot of real old wood furnishings. comfy seats, and a nice bar. I was with a group of 4 other good friends and we all could not figure out what to order because it all looked so delicious. What we ordered: Gray's Harbor Fry (What I had) Mixed Grill Seafood Paella Seared Scallops Halibut Half-Dozen Oysters of mixed variety. Everyone's food looked amazing. Seafood definitely fresh and of the highest quality. Cooked to perfection. My dish had Fried Oysters, Fried Razor Clams, Fried Halibut, and Fried Shrimp. Granted the portions were small, but that is the intention. Food should not be used to stuff your face with, and indulge in gluttony. The portions here are just right. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone in Seattle, and those traveling through. However, be prepared to spend nearly 50$ a plate, but very worth it. Enjoy,

Went for happy hour / early dinner. Salmon sliders were good as were oysters and BLT. Greeter on arrival was courteous but waiter was a snob. Uncomfortable seating. Will not go back, there are better places to eat in the area.

Located inside the fairmont hotel....definitely a lovely place! I would recommend reservation since the restaurant is pretty small in size. Service: Great and fast! Food: appetizer: We had the jumbo shrimp cocktail...really jumbo and fresh! main course:1) Crab Cake: yummy! and the side mash potatoes was sooooooo gooooood too!! 2) Scallops: also very well prepared!! brown on outside and soft inside! Dessert: Chocolate Cake with ice-cream OMG.....the chocolate cake is HUGE!!! the chocolate is very RICH!!!!!!! Totally recommend ppl to come :P (we didn't have any oyster since we are not fan of it)

We ate here once for dinner and once for happy hour during our stay at the Fairmont. The dinner was excellent...some the best crab cakes we've ever tasted! The happy hour was only okay (it's good if you like oysters but the rest of the happy hour menu is just okay). Seems to be a spot for both local business people and tourists.

I came here when my sister visited Seattle while I'm here at school. AND WOW she got the scallops with whipped potato stuff or something SO AMAZING. THEN the chili fried shrimp with tomato tartar even yummier. For dessert we had the chocolate cake which was so big and decadent then the creme bruleé wow ! HAHA the service was great and they were really nice. So overall I will definitely be back when I am not a poor college student or someone else is buying ;)

i've never had such great trout before. tender and soft coming from the grill. it was moist and melting in my mouth. the butter sauce added additional flavoring. the seafood chowder was okay, manhattan style, so a bit different from the new england style. i was lucky to be here for the pre-fix dinner option.

I just had an amazing lunch at Shuckers. I had the crab Louie salad. There was a huge mound of crab. The salad was unbelievable and extremely tasty. The server was attentive and helpful without being fussy or intrusive. I never felt hurried or rushed. At the same time, I never wanted for a water refill. Between the food and the service, I highly recommend that anyone who enjoys seafood give Shuckers a try.

For a hotel restaurant/bar, this place is pretty good. They had a knowledgeable bar tender, both for where to bounce around downtown and for their menu. They had multiple $1.50 oysters on the half shell for happy hour, and the bartender knew his oysters. He said if you want 'em sweet, try these. If you want 'em briney, try these. He was right on all counts. They had a few good local brews on tap. The decor is old skool swank, dark wood with burgundy leather, etc.. All-in-all, even considering it's part of the Fairmont Olympic, it's pretty good for a hotel joint.

Oysters are great. Fish and chips is delicious. They have happy hour for the oysters and they are even better when it's cheaper. The server Steve is a great server.

Expensive but worth it. That is if you are in the mood for seafood and rich overall offerings. Great service and classic feel. Most of the employees have been there a long time and it shows in a good way. Our waiter has been with the restaurant 30 years. I had oysters, lobster bisque (best I've ever had), and the mixed plate of seafood plate(forget the name). To the person who complained about too much butter in the crab macaroni, what do you expect in that dish? A "I can't believe it's not butter" taste? Rich food is why you go to a place like this.

My third time back. This is still my favorite Seattle Seafood restaurant. Kumamoto oysters can't be beat. Tried the Shucker's Paella - lots of seafood, not too much rice. Good service and the highest quality seafood. Pricey, but worth every extra clam!

What can I say - Shuckers is consistently good seafood with good service. They definitely know their oysters and really the Only place in Seattle, outside of the ID, that I would order hot dungenous crab. Most places, including Elliot's Oyster House get their crabs already cooked and then just warm them up if you order the crab hot - not at Shuckers - they cook a live crab like you would think everyone would do. Last summer their crab cakes were to die for - this summer they are good but not great. I can't wait until they get the Stellar Bay oysters back. I have always had excellent fresh fish and it has always been prepared beautifully! Waiters have always been spot on with their service and recommendations. Not a fancy place but one that you feel comfortable bringing out of town guests since it is reliably tasty.

Let's say that the best thing in this place is the bathroom... very cool :-) The food is not so great and the atmosphere a little bit old. If you are staying at the hotel, I'd recommend this place otherwise there are better places to have dinner.

My husband made pre-theater dinner reservations for us. Wasn't quite sure how to get to the restaurant thru the hotel, so we circled the outside sine I'd seen it before. (note: go thru the doors at the valet parking entrance...to the right is the escalator to the hotel check in. To the left is a hallway to shops and the restaurant!) Very dark wood, antique-y, catholic confessional kind of decor. We both chose beer as our drink. Typically I get a fruity hard alcohol concoction, but at $11 each, it didn't seem worth it compared to a great mug of microbrew for under $6. The bread basket was one white roll, one wheat roll, and some huge crackers. We split the rolls in half. He had salad. I had seafood chowder. For entrees, I choose seared scallops, he had paella. I finished eating way before him, since his required removing shells, and cracking stuff. Both were great! We will definitely come here again before a 5th Ave production. So convenient, good service, and good food.

My girlfriend and I were on a weekend getaway to Seattle from Portland and decided we needed to splurge on good seafood. We were not disappointed in our choice to do so at Shuckers. We made a reservation for late on a Friday night and were seated promptly upon arrival. The host was very friendly as well as our waiter. We started with the steamer clams with chorizo and whoa - amazing. The clams were perfectly cooked and all of the flavors jived amazingly. I had the crab cakes as my entree as I had been craving them for weeks. They were fried to perfection - not at all greasy or too crispy and full of flavor. I'm all about eating crab without having to do the hard work, unlike my girlfriend who ordered the whole crab and devoured that little guy. Our waiter wanted to put a bib on her but she had too much pride to wear it ;) Each of our dishes came with a vegetable side - one green beans and one asparagus. They were both perfect and complimented our dishes well. We had cocktails (what's a fancy night out sans booze?) and they were not poured cheaply. Three cocktails and all my dinner later and I left feeling mighty fine. The ambiance of Shuckers is rather dreamy. The dark wood and basement-y/Old New York feel makes the space rather romantic. It's a little loud, but not uncomfortably so. We carried on a conversation across the table and had no issues hearing one another. We met up with some friends the next morning who live in Seattle but had never been to Shuckers and raved to them about how delicious our dinner was ... And how we wished we could go back for a second time that night.

Oysters! YUMMMM. They have many to choose from and they are outstanding. I went with a group for dinner on Wednesday night and we had a great time. Everyone enjoyed their dinners with most of us ordering some seafood or fish dish. It was all very fresh and tasty. They have a decent wine list with a good range in price.

Best meal during our entire stay in Seattle. Couldnt recommend it more. After a long day out and about we settled here for dinner and what a choice it was. Great location, service was great even though they were doing a brisk business. Stacy B went with the Grilled Halibut and I went with the Filet with the garlic mashed. What a choice we both made!!! Also had dessert, a nice variety to choose from. Worth going back again and again

Perfect food. Perfect service. Came here for dine in Seattle and the service and food was awesome! Concierge service at the front door of the hotel, walked us the the front door of the restaurant . Jay was our server, he was so attentive to our toddler son. Great recommendations, fast service, friendly staff. Clam chowder was great, not too rich. Trout was cooked perfectly. French fries came right out of the fryer. Bread and Crostini was delicious. The restaurant reminded us of a place in new York. We will def be coming back!

Good food at a price. I had dinner here. The halibut was cooked perfectly but it is the crab Mac cheese that knocked it right out of the park. They serve a some breadsticks and bread before your meal. You better eat some because the portions here are little smaller than I'm used to. I sat outside because I didn't have reservations but that was fine with me since it was not rainy at the time.

This is a cool place. Great place for you to head before/after the Symphony too. I spend a bunch of time in hotel rooms. Usually I avoid hotel restaurants because they are just too boring--it doesn't seem to matter if they are in a classic building like this one is or brand-new. They can even have hot Chefs but have to cater to the masses and that makes hotel restaurants boring! The Louis salad is the best (Crab or Shrimp) I'm a bit partial to the crab version and I swear there's a pound of crab on the salad. Oh, they make their own Louis dressing too--not Kraft Thousand-Island like other higher end places use (Cough, Cough, Chandlers, Cough, Cough.) Tell me another place that does that! The drinks are classic too. In fact, I can't tell you which is more stiff--the waiters or the drinks. Sit at the bar and have the parmesan crisps--they too are stiff--however they are delicious. The oysters are classic Seattle. A bit on the spendy side though. Don't forget to notice the tin ceiling in the place.

Shuckers seems to be a seafood joint that is trying to be fancier than it really is. The prices are high for seafood prepared and presented in unimaginative ways. The decor is old school, lots of dark wood and vintage furniture. To be fair it looks like they are closing for some remodeling in early April 2013. It's not a terrible place, but not really cutting edge. The seafood was good, as it should be, but you can probably broil some fish or scallops bought at the market for less.

This was easily our most disappoint meal of our trip to Seattle. Granted, I should give them a slight pass for it being Christmas night, but the food was rushed, my steak was obviously cooked for a LONG time before it was served to me, and really, it just fell flat. Even the appetizers were rushed and could have been cooked longer. Seems like a much classier joint, but just didn't do a great job.

Seafood should be the meal of choice in Seattle, and Shuckers fits the bill. Fast and helpful service with a smile and good food made for a nice evening on business. I had the scallops dish with the crab mashed and green beans. One of the scallops was overcooked and rubbery but the others were very tender and tasty. Crab Mac n Cheese was good, but holy butter batman. I felt my arteries clogging with every bite. Tasty but be careful, your heart will thank you. I will come back again.

Tried Shuckers for a third time and it's officially a must-do in Seattle for all future trips. Came for lunch this time and tried the scallops - wonderfully seasoned with great texture! The mashed potatoes almost stole the show though...they were amazing as well. This place just doesn't disappoint!

Service was outstanding; everyone was so friendly and helpful. Food was pretty good. The fish n' chips were probably the best I've ever had. The crab cakes were also outstanding. We ordered the mussels and this is the only reason I gave it four stars. I thought they were good but they lacked so full flavor. The broth they were in could have used more seasoning. Overall great experience!

*They are in the urban eats this month AKA 30 under 30 which is a steal *Had a great dinner and their happy hour blows my mind, dollar oysters and 3 buck drafts of mannys *Service is borderline too clingy but damn, they are on top of it *Had their steelhead and it was really well cooked, overall stellar experience from one of the best places to eat in seattle bar none

The service and food were impeccable. My waiter, Jay, explained the difference between the two types of trout on the menu (I had the Ruby Trout - delicious) and he even did his best to reproduce sweet tea for this son of the south! My dinner at Shucker's left me feelimg like only fine food and a wonderful ambience can. Highly recommended!

Awesome & fresh... is a great start to describe this great Seattle seafood establishment! Do not let the fact that it's located in the fancy Fairmont Hotel scare you off. The oysters are as fresh as they come and you will find a daily selection of fresh local or flown in fish (for the non-local fin). If you'd rather have your food cooked as opposed to eating it directly from the sea - then the Halibut and Chips are a wonderful pick - light batter & large potato fried spears - delicious! Great NW wine selection and enough good micro brews to make most folks happy. The food, ambiance & drinks are great but, the service was S--L--O--W... for a Saturday lunch but this may be just a "one off". Overall you will be happy with your lunch or dinner here! We circled back here for a nightcap - the bartender is entertaining - pours a great drink and truly believes that he is funny - indulge him!

The food here is decent/pretty good, but it doesn't make up for the overpriced menu, spotty service and cramped tables crammed with loud tourists. Give yourself 15 minutes to walk 3 blocks to The Brooklyn for a much better experience.

For the price I paid for dinner I was shocked at the slow service, mediocre food, and lack of attention from our server. We were there on a weekday around 6:30pm (after their happy hour had ended and it was not busy in this place). It took over 30 minutes for our food to come (soup and salads, nothing complicated), waters were never refilled, and we had to give our payment to a different server so that it could be taken care of because our guy never showed back up again. I will not return to this place.

We were in the mood for seafood. While Shucker's is located in The Farimont Hotel, initially ,we thought it would be a dressy place. However, that's not the case since it's Seattle--casual dress is the norm. Ka-ching! We had the salmon, and it was fresh and delicious. The service was ok, but maybe it was a bit slow because we were there t dinner hour when the place got packed. The dishes are a bit pricey, but worth it. Also, the word on the street is that the bakery next to Shucker's is worth checking out. Didn't get a chance to make it there, but I will next time.

Feeling a bit nostalgic. Though I no longer live in Seattle, I still consider Shucker's one of my favorite restaurants. Delicious chowder and other seafood soups. Great salads. Best oysters you can find, both chilled and in a variety of baked options. There is no replacement for Puget Sound and B.C. oysters. There's a reason restaurants here in CA fly them down. Sigh. Tastes like home. Don't miss the Provencal preparation - an oyster topped with a huge hunk of sweet crab meat and baked in a creamy sauce. The steamed clams and mussels are the best in the city. Trust me. I did extensive research drawing this conclusion. They were often my entree, but I would always at least talk my party into them for an appetizer. As for other entrees, it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu or with the daily fish. Steelhead, trout, and - of course - the sockeye Copper River salmon were my favorites when they graced the chalkboard. Utilize your server to help you decide which of the two daily preparations is best with your choice. They used to have a fried razor clam dish I heard raves about, but never got to try. I hope they've brought it back next time I'm in town. Also, they offer delectable sandwich, salad, and soup combos for lunch at reasonable prices as an alternative to shelling out for the full dinner experience. As for ambience, Shucker's carved wood bar, cushy booths, and frosted glass have a real old world feel. Clean and comfy. Classy yet casual. The only thing missing is the views found at other seafood joints in the city, like Cutters and Ivar's Salmon House. But the food and service is so top notch, you hardly even miss it.

I would go here again but since I got the meal paid for by my friend I'm glad It didn't come out of my pocket, it was really expensive for the quality. Like you had to pay for the scenery- scenery tax. you're in this nice nice hotel and antique building so I think that's what you pay for.

The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. However, our server was very slow and took several tries to get our drink menu right. The ambiance was also lacking. The tables are very close together and the room was fairly loud. The environment would be more suitable for a family atmosphere rather than the downtown scene. As far as the food goes II would highly recommend the scallops. If you are vegetarian steer clear of this place they only offer one vegetarian friendly dish. Unfortunately the food was definitely overpriced for what it was.

Five stars for an Oyster Bar. I love coming here, especially for a late meal or light snack. Service is really excellent, and the food is exceptional. A real Seattle classic. A great place to take parents -- perhaps have them stay upstairs at the Fairmont.

Went today for lunch and will definitely go back. Had their crab mac n' cheese and crab louie salad (appetizer portion). Everything was fresh, tasty and lovely presentation. That mac n'cheese is to die for! Included was a variety of tasty rolls. We would've had dessert, but were too full, so maybe next time! Ended the meal with their excellent coffee. I've never dined here until today because I thought it would be too expensive and intimidating, but I found it fairly priced, friendly service and enjoyed the "men's club" type atmosphere. One other bonus, they have free newspapers, so I took home the New York Times!

Reading through the reviews here, I decided to give Shuckers a try. Thankfully, I didn't base my decision on another diner's opinion of a strawberry daiquiri (really now, if that's your thing -- Red Robin must be on your list of favorites). Shuckers is beautiful -- a little darker than we're used to -- but the hand carved rosewood walls are something to see. We went in through the street entrance -- and if it weren't for me reading about Shuckers here, I would never have realized it was part of the the Olympic Hotel. It very much had the feel of a free-standing restaurant. The manager stopped by a couple times to chat, and she explained that Shuckers has it's own kitchen with it's very own chef. Contrary to what another diner has written, the kitchen here runs independantly of the hotels main kitchen, which is located a couple stories above. This was the best meal I've had in a while. Attentive service, freshly shucked -- delicious oysters. I complemented our server on how rare it is to have 2 dozen oysters and not one bit of shell in any of them -- he explained that 'Hector was working, the best Shucker in Seattle'. We followed up our $1 happy-hour oysters with a warm-plate sampler: it had steamed clams, calamari, popcorn shrimp, and baked oysters which were all excellent -- my favorite was the Oyster Olympic: baked in the half-shell with tomato hollandaise, dungeness crab, onion, and I think I tasted a hint of bacon. We ordered a few more of the baked oysters -- this time trying the Rockefellers as well. Wow. We wanted an entree, but were getting pretty full. We decided to split something and found they didn't mind if we got a little creative with the menu. We ordered the parmesan crusted halibut, but opted not to have the gazpacho pepe pasta preparation it normally came with. Instead, we asked if we could substitute the preparation that comes with the seared scallops: dungeness crab whipped potatoes, green beans, morel mushrooms, drizzled with a tomato butter sauce. We told the waiter our appetites were shrinking and we'd both be enjoying the 1 meal. To our surprise, it arrived as ordered and split onto 2 plates. A very nice touch that we weren't expecting. We've done this elsewhere and have often received one entree with a couple side plates to split it ourselves. This was the best halibut I've ever had. I'll definitely have the scallops after halibut season is over, just to get those crab whipped potatoes again. We swore we could do no more, and asked for the check. Our waiter told us a fresh batch of hot fudge had just come off the stove. Neither my guest or myself could recall ever being offered a sundae with homemade hot fudge in a restaurant before -- we were weak :) It was so good, amazing thick warm fudge over vanilla bean ice cream topped with whipped cream and crumbled fudge cake. If you're looking for a strawberry daiquiri, this might not be the place. If you want an excellent meal, great service, and the best fudge sundae you'll ever have -- this is your spot...

Walked into Shuckers across the st from our hotel around 9p and was met with friendly, helpful service. Enjoyed local microbrews, delicious oysters, and a moist, wonderful-tasting whole roasted dungeoness crab. If you're in the area and looking for exquisite seafood with an old-school, 70's vibe, check out this joint.

I got dragged in here against my will because I don't like oysters. Yes, I know. However, the clam chowder was creamy perfection and a couple of cocktails later I didn't notice the pervading smell of oysters. Ok, it's not that bad, but as I said, I'm not a fan. The atmosphere is just right, not too highbrow, lovely old decor, very attentive staff. There are plenty of alternatives to oysters on the menu - enough to make me go back if I want to impress someone.

Situated inside the beautiful Fairmont hotel, it's a truly classy location for a late dine out. Literally across the street from The W Seattle. - service: they don't have young and cute servers, they have mature, experienced servers, and I can definitely appreciate that. A comment inserted at the right point, stay out of sight when not needed, can read the customer's preferences.. - decor: though I am a mid-century modern, post modern, contemporary styles girl, the dark and classic interior invokes thought of a time bygone. Very very classy in a sense, and definitely goes well with my dinner companion's beer flight. - food: they were very accommodating and was able to provide the crab cake as an appetizer size instead of a full meal (instead of $30, it's $16 for the one piece). Bread could be warmer, and the Mixed Grill ($43) is delicious but slightly under salted. Overall, given the classy dark decor, pleasant cello music in the background, and very nice server, I'd give this place a 4 star review. =)

Shuckers is a high-priced oyster-centric restaurant (obviously) that is serious about its seafood. However, it turns out that is also a microbrewery! Service is a strength of this establishment, which comes at a price. But fancy is fancy, and in this case it means not only really tasty seafood, but also an experienced and extremely professional waitstaff. I had Gray's Fry, which was a mix of shrimp, clams, oysters, and halibut beer-battered and fried--served with tartar and cocktail sauces. I also tried 3 out of their 4 micobrews, which were all excellent. I especially recommend their honey lager. However, because they are a microbrewery, everything is seasonal. My wife, who is more refined than myself, had seared ahi tuna that came with a Parmesan quinoa side-dish, which was as imaginative as it was delicious. I've reserved the final star only because of pricing. While everything was excellent, it seemed just a touch overpriced. If you're willing to spend those extra $20-$30 for a great seafood experience though, this is the seafood place for a great seafood dining experience in downtown Seattle.

After leaving a not so good experience at Elliot's we thought we would try Shucker's since we stayed at the Fairmont in Victoria BC. OMG I am so glad we did!!! The oysters were even better at a cheaper price!! The server Nolan was very nice as well. The cocktails were way better also. The oysters Rockefeller were good. I would definitely come back here!!!

Food was amazing! Oysters were really good and they were very great about timing considering we ordered two rounds of oysters before dinner. Drinks were excellent. Best Old fashioned I've ever had. Only downside it that the place is so small that I kept getting bumped in my seat while people passed our table. It is also on the pricey side.

The kitchen is really slow, so sit down...shut up...and have a bottle of wine. The Halibut fish and chips that I had were the best that I have ever had and I HATE fish. We are from the south and my wife ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken was the best we have had anywhere. Highly recommended. Come and enjoy.

If a man in your life wants good seafood without the avant-garde Seattle dining scene, Shuckers is a sure delight. A historic property attached to the Fairmont Olympic, the interior is all about wood paneling, soft leather captain's chairs, and adequate lighting to read the menus. It reminded me of the good ole boy's clubs in a good way. The service was very attentive, but I wasn't a fan of them seating us in probably the most-trafficked table of the restaurant, especially since so many booths along the wall were empty. The fresh and baked oysters were pretty good. My favorite baked was the provencale, very simple tomato and herbs with cheese. The others (such as the Rockefeller) were so overpowered with the cheese that I couldn't tell I was eating oysters at the bottom of the goop. However, the fresh oysters were all amazing; Kumamoto, Penn Cove, and Malaspina were my favorite. We split the ahi tuna steak, done to perfection. Even the blueberry "pie" was decadent and rich; the berries were very fresh and the dish had an appropriate amount of sauce to complement, not smother the dish. Not a five star, just because of where we were seated and the overpowering goop on the baked oysters.

The name might lead you to believe this is a dive oyster bar, but it's definitely not. This is a very nice restaurant with a broad range of choices. You could be causal or dressy here and fit in either way. The food was delicious (I had the ribeye topped with crab & hollandaise). The only reason I'm not give 5 stars is because the waiter wasn't very attentive - a lot of time in between visits to our table.

After walking 15 minutes to get there a sign on the door said it was closed for renovations, I can't remember, but I believe it opens back up sometime in March.

It was the middle of May, and there were 4 of us at dinner. We spent close to $400 with tip. The food quite a bit of time to come out, the fish was a little undercooked, we all got food poisoning, and to top it off, I've eaten the freshest of seafoods including right at the coast of the Red Sea, you get some of the best fish and seafood there. I expected Seattle, a well known city for seafood, to have the same standard. I am a Seattle native so I know where the good spots are, but had never tried Shucker's, unfortunately, this will be my first and last time at Shucker's and doing business with anything that has to do with the Fairmont Hotel....I sent an email to the manager there right after the dinner that got food poisoning from, and he/she never even responded. Shows how much they value repeat business...... NOT!! --Angry Diner!

This was the best meal we had in Seattle. The food was Awesome! Even though it's primarily a seafood house, I could just tell ( by waiter Spidey -sense I guess ) that they would probably do a good job with anything, so I ordered the 7 oz filet med. rare with the 10$ extra for the crab and Hollandaise.and as my veg I ordered the Asparagus so essentially, I ordered a Filet Oscar and it was perfect! We also ordered a bunch of oysters ( large assortmant ), some raw others baked. I've alway liked Rockerfeller style and they were good here too. Also if you like manhattans, get one here and ask for a few extra cherries. made it slightly sweeter than most but JUST RIGHT for me. But that Name? I must admit I was a bit put off by it. I guess it is descriptive of what their known for but it doesn't do the quality of this great restaurant justice

Average of 4 stars on yelp? Don't get it. I ordered the spinach salad and grilled halibut w crab Mac n cheese and vegetable tempura. SERVICE: Waited far too long between salad and entree. Had to chase someone down to check on my order. Service was relatively inattentive and place was 60% empty at 8 pm Wednesday night. QUALITY: Salad was ok. Halibut was on small side - 4 oz. Tempura was greasy and crab Mac tasted like it came out of premade box. My stomach is revolting against the grease i just ingested as I write this. COST: did not have cocktail or wine. Total bill before tip $61. Not a good value. I am sure there are other items on menu that would provide a better Quality But I doubt value would be there

Found this place looking for an oyster bar that had a west coast specialization. Good food but do your research on what seasonal/local oysters are available before you get there. They have little signs on the display of oysters when you go in and the waiter will assume you know (because he said to go look at the sign as opposed to helping us as we ordered, as in "go look at the signs")... I digress... Good food, but I think, as a tourist, that I probably missed out on something better if I knew my way around this town.

The food was pretty good but for how expensive my salad and a glass of wine was I except a little bit better service. My waiter actually checked my bill after I paid it and all I could think was, "is he actually looking to see if I tipped him!?" It was a tad unprofessional. I saw multiple tables around me having to ask the hostess for items.

We were travelling with friends that had never been to Seattle so we asked them to pick a restaurant. I think they chose Shuckers because of the oysters which I don't care for but I was glad to go anyway. We made a reservation online to arrive at 8:00 on a Saturday. We made this reservation at about 6:00 on that same Saturday and when we realized we could be ready and eating at 7:00 I called to bump it up. To my pleasant surprise, they we able to switch and when we arrived ten minutes early they even accommodated us again. The staff was very pleasant and attentive but not overbearing. The tables are really jammed in but a very nice elderly couple took that as an opportunity to strike up a conversation with us. After that, I didn't seem to notice how close the tables were. I had the Caesar salad with crab on it as a starter. It was very good. I would definitely order it again if I ever go back. I ordered the halibut as a fresh fish special. It was good, not great and my add on side of tempura asparagus was unfortunately drowned in heavy oil. I can't tell you the difference in cooking technique or oil types but I've had much better tempura, so take a pass. For desert I ordered the mud pie which was good but again, not great. I have to say, I really enjoyed the evening. The restaurant is really beautiful with its old wood walls and the service was excellent. Unfortunately I can't say much for the food. It was good but I'm sure the area has much better seafood. I'm not sure I'll go back but I am glad we came.

This has got to be the worst restaurant I have been to in Seattle. It's incredibly expensive, empty and the fish is clearly frozen and not fresh. Was a very disappointing experience to dine here but I surely will not be returning.

The food and service were great. The smoked oysters and the scallops with crab mashed potatoes were AMAZING. My only complaint is that I ordered an old-fashioned with Woodford Reserve bourbon, and the drink was pretty watery. It tasted like the bartender shook the cocktail with ice and it all melted into a watery, weak drink. I didn't think about complaining or sending the drink back... until I got the check and realized that it was a $18 drink. I just felt disappointed because even I can make a decent old-fashioned at home with bourbon, Angostura bitters, sugar and orange. (I skip the maraschino cherry unless I get good cherries like Luxardo.)

While I have cut quite a swath through the Seattle happy hour scene during my past few visits to the city, Shuckers is still the happy hour by which I judge all others. On Monday through Friday, from 3-5pm you can enjoy amazing martinis for $6, wine for $4, draft beer for $3 and a variety of food options for under $5. The ambiance is old boys club - lots of dark wood and dim lighting. The staff are quite staid but courteous and efficient. All-in-all Shuckers mirrors the slightly worn elegance of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel to which it is attached. However, the main reason to come here is for the cheap eats & drinks. I've enjoyed both the red & white wines on special which are from local Washington wineries (and they are not stingy on the pours here). Equally laudable are the martinis, which are a full two ounces and an absolute steal at $6. There are normally a selection of several types of oysters available during happy hour at $1.50 each (normally $3.25!) At that price splurge for a full dozen! Given the plethora of great food options in Seattle I'm not sure I can recommend eating at Shuckers outside of happy hour as it reverts back to some very inflated prices (more in keeping to what you might expect from a hotel restaurant). My recommendation is enjoy some pre-dinner drinks & snacks here but move on when the clock hits 5pm.

Second time eating there! Have never had a bad meal there! Service was beyond fantastic! Crab is great! Their appetizer portions are huge and great for sharing. Our waiter had great wine suggestions! Had a fantastic romantic dinner out with my husband and was worth every penny! Highly recommend!

The very generously sized glass of Pinot Gris should have made me overlook the fact that I spent (pre-tip) $50 on a cup of oyster bisque, 3 baked oysters and an appetizer sized salad (w crab but no taste). But nothing was particularly tasty.

My husband and I were in Seattle on business and found Shucker's to be a great spot for happy hour, or a light dinner, within walking distance of our hotel. He had three kinds of oysters and we shared chili shrimp and calamari. A basket with a variety of breads was also provided. The food and our drinks were excellent and our waiter was unobtrusively kind and available (my favorite kind!)

Outstanding place. The staff was amazing... Very friendly and fun. My wife and I had the clams and chorizo which were almost as good as our own. Be sure to ask for extra bread to dip in the broth. The appetizer size is more than a meal so be really hungry if you order the large size, or plan on sharing.

A good business lunch spot - I typically order the chopped salad (all crab) with light green goddess dressing. It's a very good salad. I have had the white chowder before and find it to be too thick for my taste ... it has a nice flavor, but could have a bit more garlic and much less body. Today I ordered the "tempura" shrimp ... don't do it ... they leave the tail shells on and then proceed to batter the entire shrimp so you have to pick out the shell from your mouth ... it would be so much nicer had they shelled the tails too ... not really sure why the tail shells are left on if they're going to batter and fry the tails??? Also, the batter is not what I expect tempura to be ... light and crunchy ... this batter was thick, puffy and not crunchy ... wouldn't order this again. My dining companion today had what he said was outstandingly prepared halibut with a preserved lemon crust, along with well-prepared broccolini and an asian slaw with a soy-citrus dressing. The fish looked well-cooked and was odorless (I can't say the same for some other halibut served by other downtown purveyors) ... In general, I do find that I need to add salt and pepper to most everything I order here ... Service has always been very good and prompt. Decor is old-school dark wood with brass and glass, with many tables in the open but also these nook-like booths which can be nice when trying to have a business conversation. Mostly solid.

It's in the Fairmont, so know that about the pricing. GREAT drinks, GREAT bartender, and decent food. The oysters are great, the dessert we got (a pot of chocolate something with a gigantor meringue cookie on top) was AMAZING. Loved sitting at the bar and watching the other diners getting rowdy. I should mention that I ordered the salmon special, and it was god-awful. Literally tasted like dirt. Dirt. Overly dry and just god-awful. Dirt flavor. It was taken off our bill, but a restaurant that specializes in fish IN SEATTLE should really have higher standards than to send something like that out of their kitchen. Not our bartender's fault though, so only minus one star for that epic food failure. Hope it was an incidental oversight on a busy evening.

I agree, the service was slow. They are short wait staff and as far as I could tell, no bussers. But that was ok with us, just wanted to sit back and relax in a great atmosphere. Calamari appetizer was very good. We both had halibut. It was good but I am used to San Francisco with the Italian influence and New Orleans with the Cajun and Creole influence so it was bland to me. I would go back and probably try the salmon.

Pretty good. Love the relaxing environment and ocean view. Only came here to try out the local oysters but the staff was very informative. We had four different ones and the two my fiance enjoyed most were the Sunset Beach and Totten Inlet.

So I know this place got really good reviews and to be honest if I ordered a different dish, I might have given it a way higher review myself, but base on what I did order... I had to give this place 2 stars. It really deserves 2.5 but Yelp does not allow such things. I know its low, but here's why. Well let's start with the lobster mac & cheese I ordered. I guess TECHNICALLY you can call it lobster mac & cheese because it had one small piece of claw meat on top of the dish and that was it. Not what I was expect. Also the claw meat was WAY over cooked. It was hard and chewy. I know cooks have a bad day from time to time and I guess I went on a day he or she was having a rough night. The mac & cheese was pretty good by itself, but it would have been better if they just called it mac & cheese and left the dry piece of lobster claw out of it. To be honest, I thought it looked tacky the way it was presented. For a restaurant this expensive, the presentation of this dish should have been better. Now let me add that I did not feel that the mac & cheese was expensive, but I was extremely disappointed. Now the fish & chips that cost me $24. Yes... $24 fish & chips. Presentation was good, the chips were okay, but the fish... no flavor in MY opinion and the breading was.... Let's say not worth $24. I'm going to be completely honest. This was a $15 meal at BEST. For $15 I would have given it 3 stars just because. I have had way better beer battered fish at cheaper places. Now the service was really good. My server, Jim rocked. He went out of his way to make sure I was happy and I did make some" not so normal" request of him and he did all of them with a smile on his face. Overall for my dish and I repeat, just for my dish, I was very unhappy with the food. Oh, I forgot the pumpkin pie that I ordered that came without a crust and jammed into a jar. I really wish they called it pumpkin pie filling instead of pumpkin pie. If I knew it was just the filling, I would have got some ice cream from another place and made my own dessert. Do I think this place was a bad restaurant? No, I don't, but as I said, for what I ordered they should either lower their price or do something else to it to make it better. Pumpkin pie in a jar with no crust is not a pie. Over cooked lobster is not as good as they might think it is and battered fish with no seasoning is just a waste of calories.

Well, I will start by saying that the Fairmont hotel is beautiful, and they have valet parking, which made coming to Shuckers for dinner a whole lot easier. In fact, I will probably use the valet service for other downtown meanderings, because it is in a super convenient location. We ordered a few items on the menu. To start with the dozen oysters, we had them prepared 4 ways. Rockefeller, Olympic, Parmesan, and Casino. Wow, if that was the first time I had ever had baked oysters, I would not get them again. The sauces were pretty boring. I like more punch in my flavors, and on this night, well, not so much punch. After that we were a little worried about ordering food that runs $$$, so we tried the Caesar Salad with Dungeness Crab... ok, crab... where's the crab?? Oh, I see it... but for $20 buck, I want to SEE the crab, I want to taste the crab, I want, I want, I want... I know, but for reals, I thought it was a normal to bland Caesar salad and not a lot of crab. It was a real let down after all the good reviews. The service was very good, and people seemed friendly enough. I wasn't a terrible choice, but I wasn't overwhelmed and enraptured by anything. It's a good middle of the road choice. But, in a city filled with amazing food, it may be awhile before I come back.

Had some good friends staying at the Fairmont, dining at Shuckers for a birthday celebration. I contacted them to set up a special dessert, Julia G.M. Nicklas, the supervisor was more than pleasant to work with on this treat. Such efficiency and attention to a special moment. Julia, great customer service! Being in sales, the company is very lucky to have you as an employee as you really do understand customer service.

I love many tastes with my meals. If you nicely ask your server, she will bring you the yummy parmesan frico that sit at the bar. Next up, a variety of breads, including what tastes like La Panzenella's rosemary flatbread crackers. Hmmmm... two tastes for $12 or three tastes for $16?? My first two tastes are always the chowder and seafood chop. On two visits I've chosen the salmon sandwich and one time the Caesar/Prawn Wrap. Though the salmon sandwich is tiny, I think it's way better than the wrap. Of course, you get to close with the chocolate brownie bites. Love this place.

This place was wonderful! We didn't do full entrees because we had a late lunch, but they served wonderful food, and they were very helpful with ordering with our 3 younger children. The price was very fitting and the service was great. When I'm back in Seattle, I will definitely go back for a full meal!

I came here for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and I would say this place is A-OK. The food here is actually pretty good! I got the buttermilk fried free range chicken, something like that, and it was absolutely yummy! My hot date got the pallella or whatever you spell it and that was also very good too. Though the food was on point, it was the service that could use some improvements. Our waitress who was extremely nice and sweet seems to like to take her time when checking on us and also bringing us our drinks and refilling our drinks. Maybe I'm just one of those "pain in the butt" customers, but the place wasn't that busy at all. But overall it was a good dinner!

Stayed at the Monaco Seattle hotel while on a recent visit to Seattle, so the wifey and I sauntered down the block to Shuckers to satisfy our seafood craving. I'm a bit of a hesitant fan of oyster, mainly because I'm still a baby on the oyster front. So we tried a half dozen on the half shell olympic and island oysters (can't recall their full names) The small little island oysters were terrific! Very smooth and tasted absolutely scrumptious. The olympic oysters were a bit on the acidic side. We ended up ordering another round of the island oysters. We also had the paella (excellent!), whole dungeness crab (awesome), and mixed grill (good). The paella came highly recommended by our server and with good reason. If you have a craving for seafood and can't make up your mind with what to eat, have the paella. Prawns, clams, mussels, calamari, and crab all mixed in with sausage, chicken and rice. The mixed grill was good, but was definitely overshadowed by the paella. The halibut kind of got drowned out by all the other seafood on the plate (salmon, prawns). The crab mac and cheese is overrated I think, but that's only because I'm not a big fan of cheese. Couldn't really taste the crab after going through all the cheese and pasta. The whole dungeness crab was a great dish. Very lightly prepared with almost no intrusive marinades or overpowering sauces. Only negative is that I like my crab steaming hot, and this dish was warm at best. We racked up a huge bill ($200+) between the 3 of us. We did have 3 house special cocktails which accounted for over $50 of that bill. Unfortunately, these cocktails sounded better than they tasted. Stick with the white wine or beer, cocktails are definitely not their thing here. Overall a good experience. I would definitely come back for the oysters and for the paella, but probably not anything else.

Impeccable, old school exceptional high-end service, delicious food, in an unassuming, beautiful setting. Our wonderful server brought out a dozen oysters, a selection of his recommendation, all perfectly prepared. The entrees we ordered weren't anything fancy, just your traditional pub fare, fish and chips and a Cobb salad, but both were about as good as you could ask for. A definite surprise gem.

Downtown in the classic Fairmont Olympic Hotel. We were regally welcomed and had a great booth. Starting with a 1/2 dozen oysters, we had chicken fried ruby trout and halibut fish & chips. The trout comes with baked potato salad...delicious. They have a good wine list, and the pour is liberal if ordered by the glass. This is a great place for a classy lunch or dinner. Enjoy!

Terrible. All our dishes looked like they were half eaten. Nothing like the pictures uploaded by others. Lobster mashed potatoes didn't have any lobster chunks and crab Mac & cheese was not as nearly good as the one we had at the Hyatt olive 8 lounge. Should have gone to McCormick & Schmick's.

Had not been here for a couple of years and almost passed as I am reluctant to go to restaurants in hotels (even in the Fairmont). So glad I overcame my prejudices, it was one of the best seafood meals I have had. Started with 6 oysters (I let the waitress choose the varieties) and they were great (though expensive). Meaty, flavorful and the different varieties were unique. Followed my waitress' suggestion and ordered Halibut Cheeks, they were also perfect. Never had this dish before, and the fish was almost lobster or scallop like. The potatoes and asparagus that accompanied it was also great. It was so good, I am going back for lunch today.

service is great and the location is in the heart of the city my wife enjoyed an entire dungeness crab.. it took her a couple of hours to eat it but she enjoyed every minute of it i had the mixed grill.. i had to send back a piece of fish since it was overcooked but they sent me another piece which was cooked correctly.. their wine selection is decent and reasonably priced too

Definitely done the traditional way. I sat at the bar for dinner, where the 'tender was quite attentive. The salad was crisp, the bread basket was full of carby temptations, and the mixed seafood paella was extremely tasty. They were happy to deshell the crab for this non-expert crab eater. The prices are accordingly pricey, but worth it.

My family was in Seattle for Christmas, and we came to Shuckers one evening for dinner. We're big fans of seafood, and Shuckers did not fail to impress. We had a platter of oysters from regional sources, they were fresh and tasty. Our waiter was also very knowledgeable about the farms, and gave great recommendations. Our entrees were both excellent. It was hard to make a decision from the extensive and exciting menu, but we eventually settled on a tuna special and the dungeness crab risotto. Service was great, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Awesome birthday here. Fresh seafood on the menu. You need a reservation if you don't want to wait. It's s busy place. With that said they retain that classy ambience all the way! This is the restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel. Specialty is seafood. They had about about 6 kinds of fresh fish that night but we chose the Steelhead fish grilled to perfection. We also had the ahi Tuna seared and it was awesome! We had the Steamed Mussels for starters and it's so finger lickin' good. You can order the starters here as an entree if you so desire :) They have a bar on the right side as you enter but it occupies very litle real estate in the restaurant. The main attraction really is the restaurant floor itself. Every litle nook and cranny is filled with tables. We dined at the table closest table to the window. There's only two of these and it was the best table in the house. The rest of the area really intimate as in you sit close to your neighbor. While waiting for our orders we enjoyed some drinks. A sparkling wine for me and red for my company. The dessert that was on the house with a candle was awesome! It was a pumpkin cheesecake that was so creamy it was almost impossible to fight the urge to ask for more! Lastly our server was great! She was very professional but warm and very efficient.

Best oysters. Then you get to what reads as incredible choices. We ordered the whole dungeness crab. Waiter told us the best choice. What a bunch of malarkey! My sister ordered the mixed grill plate which had overlooked scallops and salmon and mediocre lobster mac and cheese. Go for the oysters then get out for s good meal elsewhere. The waiter was off his best as well. He never came back to pour our bottle of wine, check on us and when he finally did he brought us someone else's check.

Every once in a while, I just have a craving for broiled oysters. Shuckers is by far the greatest spot to get a eclectic selection of lovely broiled oysters. Besides the "Rockefeller", you'll often find five or six other interesting creations. Definitely a top spot!

It is downstairs of Fairmont Hotel that you must go up one flight to the lobby, turn right, and go down a flight to reach the restaurant. Instead, it is easier to enter from the 4th street entrance. But that entrance does not have anyone to receive you. You'll have to walk across the dining area to meet the maitre'd. The room is relatively small and give a cozy feeling. It was lavishly wood paneled all over. That gives a classic and old atmosphere. No wonder every table has someone who is grey-haired. So was our waiter. I actually like that. For some reasons, make me feel good. For the namesake, we order half a dozen oyster to begin with, 2 Rockefeller, 2 pan fried, and 2 Provencal. All were delicious and we presented in a salt bed. There is a "Wild King Salmon" fixed menu on the corner of the menu, so I order that. It comes with a tomato-based cold soup and tuna tar tar, both were good. Then the king salmon arrived. A nice chuck of fish on top of a corn/bacon bed and topped with some greenery. All were absolutely delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly: a bit sheared on the surface and tender and juicy in the center. Companion ordered scallop. It was generously portioned and she couldn't finish the whole thing. The scollop were well brown on the outside and just enough to provide a bit texture in the center. They were on top of this curiously delicious potato mash. We believe it was with duck fat, instead of butter. Very light to the point of flowing down your mouth, but still potato mash. The dessert (mine) was peach cobbler. It was piping hot with a scoop of vanilla on top. I won't say it blew my socks away, but was also well prepared and exactly we I would expect. It was not cheap. Two of us walked out $150 less from our net worth, this is without wines (I had a beer, she cocktail). But I think I will come back whenever there is a good excuse.

My friend and I went there for new year's eve dinner. Their seafood was exceptional. We had half a dozen of oysters (you can ask them to cook each piece any way you want. We tried them cooked 2 each in 3 ways: Parmasan, BBQ and Rockefeller and thought BBQ was the best among those 3). We also ordered Smoked Salmon for appetizer, and Herb Crusted Ahi Tuna for main courses. The food was really good. I particularly love the couscous that came with the Ahi Tuna and litterally CLEANED the whole plate (nothing was left...yumm). Wait service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and we loved his service. Wait service and food were definitely worth 5 stars. However, I had to take off many stars in my review because of the horrible experience with the host. Upon our check-in on time at 8pm (our reservation time), I informed the male host that I just booked the reservation for 2 via OpenTable just an hour ago. He asked me for my name and said they didn't have it. I also told him my last name and he said he didn't have it either and proceeded to tell me that there was no way I could have just booked it as the restaurant was booked at least a week in advance this particular evening. I told him that I was able to book it and even got confirmation from opentable that we actually reserved the table. The host made me pull up my cell phone to look into my mail to show him the confirmation email I got. While I was pulling up my confirmation email, he totally completely dismissed my friend and I as if we were not present. There were 2 parties who showed up late to their reservations (and maybe one party that didn't seem to have reservation...he took them in...but yet made me stand and look up my reservation..and made a gesture to my friend that she was standing in the way while we were looking up info...). Once I found the e-mail, I showed it to him and also told him that I also took a quick glance on his computer screen and even saw my last name on his reservation screen. He said ohh..."Joop" and made a sound to pronounce it the other way as if he was correcting me for mentioning my name incorrectly. I didn't appreciate this at all.I own my name and live with it all my life, who is he to think that he can pronounce it better or more correct than I do!?!? He then hurriedly looked into the computer and said without even making eye contact at me and said quickly "it will be 10 more minutes" (and I was on time!). Worse, he didn't apologize for his mistake at all. I understand that the restaurant can be busy in the evening, particularly on New Year's Eve. However, given that a restaurant is in such an upscale hotel and thatcaters to many upper-end customers, it just didn't make it acceptable at all for the host to have dismissed and responded the way he did to me tonight. Their seafood was really excellent and my waiter was great. As a customer, however, I never ever wanted to be treated by the host that way, especially if I'm actually paying for my food and not just getting it for free!

This is a review of the Shuckers Happy Hour. After reading reviews, we decided to stop here for happy hour and had the oysters for $1.50 each. We first ordered half a dozen, but then decided to order some more because it was so good. We also ordered the arancine which was so good we decided to order a second order. There was also a chicken fried salmon slider. Three sliders that were served on a nice biscuit. I also had the fried shrimp, but would say it was the one dish I could've skipped at the happy hour. We also tried the honey ale. It was so good and only 3.75. I highly recommend Shuckers for happy hour if you are ever in the area.

5 star service but 3 star food. We were staying at the hotel and needing a place to take the family for dinner. Dining with kids is never easy, but they made it doable bringing complimentary fruit platters to keep things civil until the order arrived. I wasn't feeling the oysters this night and opted for the scallops which the waiter highly recommended. I didn't share his enthusiasm for the dish and found myself stealing bites from my daughters crab mac and cheese--which was good. If you're in a pinch and need a place close to the hotel, Shuckers has a nice environment with so so food.

Many of our group of 20 ate here several times on our five day trip in Seattle. This was BY FAR the BEST seafood (and food) we experienced! We had crab cakes, Micro-brewed Halibut and Chips, Jumbo Prawn cocktail, Dungeness Crab and Artichoke Gratin (dip), Applewood Smoked Salmon, Filet Mignon, chocolate cake, and Shuckers Chop Salad was one of my FAVORITE things! The ONLY thing I would not recommend was the clam chowder, unless you prefer tomato based chowder. The service was superb and the atmosphere is relaxing and quaint. I will absolutely go back again if I'm ever in Seattle!

Came here for dine about seattle. Really 3.5 about stars. 1st course: seafood chowder. I had high expectations for this since it it had so many raved reviews. However I think I prefer the seafood chowder at Bar Crudo in SF. (bar crudo's chowder has larger pieces of salmon and was slightly raw on the inside..perfection)..This chowder was more of a vegetable soup with some pieces of fish in it. 2nd course: grilled trout. I believe this was a ruby trout as it looked like salmon and tasted somewhat like salmon. It was perfectly cooked on a bed of potatoes with some veggies. I liked the difference in texture with the potatoes with the skin on. 3rd course: chocolate eclair with espresso. not bad. Overall the service was really great. I don't have any issues with the serving size, as I felt it was perfect for a 3 course lunch meal.

Excellent old school seafood and raw place near downtown Seattle. As usual, I was looking for somewhere within walking distance of my hotel as I was in Seattle on business and again as usual I used my Yelp app. I arrived around 7:00 on a Sunday night and they asked me if I would sit in the bar, there was room in the dining room, so that struck me as a bit snobish, but I was OK with it and it ended up being the best part (after the great Oysters on the half that is). Don, the bartender who I later found out had been there over 20 years, was a master. The bar was elbow to elbow, yet he managed great service and conversation, including stories about Kurt Cobian and Paul Allen coming in. There was a convention for Librarian's and boy did they know how to have fun! Food was excellent, they were shucking a large assortment of Oysters and had some great fresh catch if the day on the blackboard. I had the seared scallops which were amazing and a dozen oysters. Pretty pricing overall, but heck, you only live once right!

Terrible shrimp cocktail, it appeared to be several days old. The Grays Harbor fry is the biggest ripoff ever, seriously there were two French fries (yes 2!) two shrimp fried with the tails still attached, two old oysters and two small pieces of fish, all for $35!!!! The service was very good, but the food was so terrible I cannot believe this is part of the Fairmount, I seriously could have got better food for the price at Ivars. I will never ever come back here, just pathetic food.

3.5 stars Came here for Dine Around Seattle lunch with a friend. This place had been recommended to me by a former Fairmont Olympic employee so I was excited to try it. We ate: -both of us had the seafood chowder for our appetizer -I had the steelhead trout for my entree and my friend had the halibut and chips -For dessert, I had the vanilla bean sugar pastry and my friend had the chocolate eclair and espresso shot. The chowder was by far the standout food item (more on that later) of the meal. It was a red chowder which I thought was fun and had crab and shrimp inside. Both of our entrees were tiny! The Dine Around Seattle dishes are a lot smaller than the regular lunch dishes that were going out. They were both some nice enough but nothing special. The desserts were strange. My friend's eclair was ok. My vanilla bean bun seemed like just sugar over bread at first. When I took the second half to the office after, I found out a delicious vanilla custard was in only half of it. Not the center mind you, just half. I think they would have been better off making this thing smaller (the only entree I could say that about) and filling the whole thing with custard. The service here was very good. Someone took our coats and the waiter seemed a little peeved when we only ordered waters (My friend's office has a no drinking during the day policy!) but otherwise, he was great and top notch. The presentation of this place is great as well. I like the dark wood decor and I like the plates and bowls they served with. The plating was good but really, would you come back to a restaurant for that? I think this place might be one of those places that is just way better when you don't do Dine Around Seattle but I also wasn't thrilled enough with my experience to pay a way higher price. It was a good deal and meal for $15 but I'm not sure I'd come back. The jury's still out on this one.

Definitely get the blackberry blueberry pie. And the crab mac and cheese. But i had an issue with their shucker. almost every oyster i had bits of shell, kind of a surprise, and eventually it got so annoying that i had to eat really really slowly. I never had this issue anywhere else. I would pass on the cooked oyster preparations, and stick wtih raw. fix the sloppy shucking and its 4 stars.

Visited while in town for a conference. Indefinitely have had better in worse restaurants. Fish was greasy and less than flavorful, especially for the price. Had reservations through Open Table which showed it had good reviews. Needles to say my review on that site was the same as this. The location is in the basement of the Fairmont Hotel, and address listed is for the front of the hotel and not the side street it is actually on. This was not mentioned anywhere, so the price was actually higher than previously rated. Busy and noisy. Might do better for lunch, but the dinner menu is something to be desired.

Fantastic oysters. Among the variety that I sampled were some from Deep Bay, Vancouver Island. These had prodigious, complex, briny flavor that left me ordering more. I ordered a crab salad, and it was basically one crab, relieved of its shell, next to a few greens. I also enjoyed their house-smoked oysters. Will definitely return!

Not a great idea if you're going for a celebration of any kind or if you have taste buds. Talk about bland. I didn't know seafood could be so flavorless. Oysters aside, because those weren't bad, I had the kussish (sp) and bay oysters. And neither were the jumbo prawns cocktail, but if you mess those up...I don't Know what to say about you. Everything else was subpar. The Paella was as unseasoned as you could get, I've had better from chain restaurants. My ribeye was more rare than medium rare. The service wasn't bad, but I've received better from a drive-in. All in all. We won't be back here again. And I guess the reservations weren't necessary because it was practically deserted when we got there. Happy Mother's Day! Shuck Shuckers!! (you know what I mean)

Went here for HH - because every other place in the area was packed on a holiday week. We were able to get seated right away. Should this be a sign? We literally ordered one of everything off the menu. The service was amazing as our server was very attentive and even went out of her way to find a match book to balance out our table without us even asking. Not to mention she even brought us a huge basket of complimentary bread and butter to go with our oysters Oysters were decent. The rest of the items were very petite and just not that great. The shrimp & muscle salad was very strange- there were orange wedges in it? The popcorn shrimp was decent and the salmon slider had very dry salmon on a biscuit. Prices were decent. $5 a plate but again plates were super petite ( see photos) I might try this place for dinner but till then I will be joining the place down the street for HH :)

I love Shuckers. I have worked 2 blocks away for 9 years, and feel negligent in waiting this long to RAVE about one of my favorite lunch spots. Darla waited on me during my last visit. She was gracious, accommodating, and observant. I usually get their crab caesar, but ordered the chopped salad this time. Happy hour is delicious. Their calamari is like buttah.

Unbelievable dining experience. Amazing service perhaps the best ever, delicious tasty food cooked to perfection and generous servings. Our new favorite dining experience. Charles took the time to talk to us about our preferences. I mentioned that I cooked my fish in a parmesan crust and he offered to cook my ahi tuna that way. He had the chef cook a bit of the seafood paella to see if I would like the saffron. It was fantastic. I mentioned I wanted more "heat" so he brought some asian sauce that brought up the temp! Then, my meal came with blackberry/blueberry pie but I wasn't into it. He sensed that and changed it to Chocolate cake. Did I mention the happy birthday in chocolate on the rim. It was to die for chocolate oh my. Overall, fantastic service. 10 out of 10 2 thumbs up you name it.

Built in the 1930's, Shuckers is one of the oldest oyster bars in Seattle. With its beautiful woodwork and classic charms, Shuckers is the perfect place for a pre-dinner glass of chardonnay with a dozen Kumamoto oysters. yelp.com/biz_photos/ElzS… Fresh, sweet Kumamoto oysters with a glass of buttery California chardonnay in a restaurant from another time and another place. How do you resist?

Top notch oysters on a Monday afternoon at $1.50 a piece. Try the smoked mussel and shrimp salad with creme fraiche and orange. Wow! Double Wow at happy hour for $4.

Good for happy hour, but happy hour prices reflect happy hour portions. We arrived at around 330 on a weekday and were enticed by their oysters, martinis, and mussels and clams. The broth is delicious for the mussels and clams. The oysters were also very yummy and fresh. I had the salmon sliders that were about the size of half dollars. They were good but left me hungry. Overall, its a very nice restaurant with efficient and friendly staff. I would consider coming back for dinner.

A coworker and I wanted a nicer place to eat in the city after work and we were tired of being out in Bellevue. Since the Pacific Northwest is known for seafood I thought we'd give it a shot. Reservations were easy to make over the phone. We quickly realized that we were a bit too ambitious with our reservation time as traffic on I-90 was very backed up coming in from Bellevue. It was easy enough to call and get it changed. We arrive a little early for our new reservation so were told we could wait upstairs and have cocktails while we wait. And wait we did, no one ever came to fetch us despite a promise they would. After going back to hostess to inquire we were seated about 10 minutes later. I ordered the crab cakes as to keep it simple. They were a bit pricey for crab cakes in my opinion. They were flaky and crisp like a crab cake should be but still weren't the best I've had. If I had ordered them for half the price I would have been very satisfied. I can't really say much more about them other than they were passable crab cakes. I guess living near the gulf coast for most of my life I've been accustomed to inexpensive seafood and the Pacific Northwest serves up different fish than what I get at home such as halibut. To me halibut and cod are what go in fish sticks at Long John Silvers.

Thank you, Phil. I love an opinionated, educated server who isn't afraid to make strong recommendations. Service was awesome, and I completely loved that you let me have a chowder taste-off before ordering for real; and that you optimized my oyster selection by steering me to the particularly fresh, fantastic kumamotos. The seafood chowder was surprisingly good, and the fact that it was packed with quality seafood, was piping hot and didn't have any potato chunks (I hate potatoes in soup) made it so satisfying on a windy, rainy Seattle night. Really surprised they didn't offer a more extensive by-the-glass wine selection, though. Go with the pinot gris.

This might not be something you'd like to hear while reading about food, so brace yourself. I have a... personal matter to share with you, but I think I found a CURE! Yes, my stomach, etc. has been giving me some trouble, but it seems to have finally subsided, and there is one thing I can attribute that too. OYSTERS! Lately I've been oyster-bingeing in a quest to find the best oysters in Seattle. I've eaten maybe 100 of them in the last week. And guess what? After my first dose, all my "problems" went away. And it has stayed away ever since. Could it be the oysters? This is big people! I'm tempted to invest in ex-Skillet's mobile kitchen-camper, dress like an old-school snake-oil salesman, and push oysters, for only a dollar! It'll cure all your ills! Of course, in the spirit of the day, I will include plenty of vodka and cocain.... I mean, have coke on hand to shoot it down with. Gauranteed to cure all your ails!. Step RIIIIGHT UP! But of course It's gauranteed because me and my carriage will be in some other random spot you won't be able to find tomorrow and forever. But I swear, oysters work! You heard it hear first. Well ok, here's another excerpt talking about oysters found at this link, for copyright disclosure sake... globalgourmet.com/food/e… "Oysters and Their Nutritional Value Oysters are not only delicious, but they're also one of the most nutritionally well balanced of foods, containing protein, carbohydrates, mi and lipids. The National Heart and Lung Institute suggest oysters as an ideal food for inclusion in low-cholesterol diets. Oysters are an excellent source of vitamins A, B1(thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), C (ascorbic acid) and D (calciferol). Four or five medium size oysters supply the recommended daily allowance of iron, copper, iodine, magnesium, calcium, zinc, manganese and phosphorus." Maybe that's why, but see? I physicaly feel pretty good all around, too -- more energy, thinking is clearer than usual (unusually), and my sex drive's through the effing... OK, STOP, Crisbee, you've said enough! It's probably just the coke talking, anyway. So what does all this have to do with Shuckers, you ask? Absolutely NOTHING. Shuckers is ok. It might be that when I went for happy hour, my waiter rushed me through, probably so he could get his tip before his shift ended. It might be that the (excellent, if not a bit "messy") chop salad was plated all wrong, in a mini-bowl instead of spread out on a plate, or that the seafood chowder was loaded with bay shrimp and other non-descript bits of seafood in tomato sauce. Or it could be the wave of hyper-teststerone that filled the air shortly after I arrived, as the cackle of uniformly Stella-drinking, tie-donning Fairmont-Olympic conferencees anal-yzed how the size of their ties match the size of their dicks, rambling about how successful they are in their fields blah blah blah. Riveting stuff! Oh, and ALL the beer, including Stellas, were served in these 10lb glass mugs. Stellas makes their own glassware for a reason -- to AVOID being served like this. OK, ok, I'm being hard on Shuckers, and it's not ALL their fault. The food was ok, but I just wasn't diggin it, you know? They all just seemed to be on auto-pilot. But now, more importantly... the OYSTERS! The price is right for Happy Hour! $1 a pop, from 3-5 happy hour, so you gotta time this just right. Normally, their oysters are a pricey $3.25 a piece, the highest price I've seen per oy! The oysters here were ok. There were 8 varieties, which is a decent selection, but they were all a bit small for their types. Also, some of them weren't shucked quite right -- with some still completely stuck to the shell, and leaving some of the less-desirable guts in the shell.. A couple even had a dark film underlying the entire oyster shell. Oysters should be able to go down neat and clean, with no dark residue left behind. Also, many had too little brine. The accompanying cocktail sauce seemed uninteresting (maybe canned), and the scallion-vinegar was way too overpowering. The minced horseradish was fresh and spicy, though, good thing for my taste. But even the lemon slices seemed much smaller than usual. Still, I recognize that I'm getting very picky with oysters, after having some really exceptional oysters around town. It's still cool to get such a good deal on fresh oysters for happy hour, and this is certainly an ok choice for that. Here are the oysters I had: Fanny Boy -- smallish, but good, a bit sweet. Penn Cove -- sweet and pretty tasty, but small for the type. Kusshi -- quite briny, but ok. Evening Cove -- another sweet oyster, pretty good. Hunter Point -- kind of sour -- not my favorite. Dabob Bay -- Had these a few places, and these are briney in a good way, but smallish. Good texture. Overall experience on the OYSTER SCALE? 3 OYSTERS out of 5 oyster half-shells

It is pretty old school, it is in a very expensive hotel. So the prices are pretty high, and yes there is a bunch of gray hair in here. The food is good though and I would recommend this place if you are catching a show at the 5th Ave Theater.

I came here during Dine Around Seattle week. I was in the mood for seafood and I wanted to go somewhere really upscale, so we made reservations for Saturday night. We had to wait a couple minutes for our table, but the manager was out at the check-in area helping people, and he took our coats and then had us escorted to our table. The place has a great vibe--a lot of dark wood, benches and booths which make you think that there aren't any people around, and dimmed lighting. Service was prompt and helpful without being in your face. I went for the three-beer local microbrewery sampler for my drink. The food was all fantastic: I had clam chowder for my appetizer, grilled salmon for the main, and then my friends and I split the espresso eclair, dulce de leche carrot cake, and pumpkin cheesecake between us. Overall, great experience. Food was top notch and service was great. And, at the Diner Around Seattle prices ($30 for 3 courses), it was a fantastic deal. I'd definitely recommend this place.

The Staff is excellent as you'd expect since this bar sits downstairs at The Fairmont. I just appetizers and a beer. The dungeness crab appetizer was good and there was decent selection for beer. As you would expect it's pricey since it sits downstairs at The Fairmont. I was there for a business meeting so I was glad it was quiet.

Directions: Get past the dorky name and order a plate of mixed oysters until you find the ones that you love the most. And then order a second plate of just those. They open and prepare their oysters with more care and perfection than we've seen anywhere. I mean, they come out looking perfect. As if Dr. Rey from Dr. 90210 had time to touch them up. My sweetie (a non-oyster eater) even sucked down a dozen. Did I mention the dorky name?

Omg. This place was totally delicious! We've been here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times did not disappoint! My hubby had the sampler twice, which implies he definitely liked it. He liked the halibut - how can you not when you're in Seattle? I especially loved the crab Mac and cheese, and in fact had them substitute it for the veggies! Totally decadent and soooo worth it! Tip - make reservations with opentable.com so that you don't need to worry about waiting - and you get the points!

My uncle downtown had a sweet coupon, so i thought, ok why not? We were greeted and served great. I like the old-stately feeling based on the design selections - the dark wood, wood trims, wood all over, the punched-up brighter ceiling with fitting light chand. My chowder was thoroughly enjoyable and I always enjoy great cornbread to keep my food company. The Bread was nice, not all the same for a change. My lack of terminology savviness just means I get to use awesome adjectives! You had the one roll that seemed like the typical, one with sesame seeds-ish, poppyseed-ish, some type of muffiny thing non-plain, and a rather good flat-bread-ish cracker (which I liked). Speaking of the bread, this place made me wish they asked if customers would like bread or not .... I saw a good few tables finishing up their meals, yet the bread was still there.... lonely. Oh well, more w-w-w-wasted food for our friend the dumpster! That rich chocolate dessert (complimentary or not, IDK) was a nice touch. Powdered sugar? If you small bite it, look at the inside. Perfect dark.. rich.. brown.. moist.. color. i was tempted to just toss my piece in cuz it's really bite-size, but... i better not. Oh, and I wouldn't eat it if I didn't have water on hand.

My friend recommended this place and I had the chance to try it last week. Since my gf is in town and loves seafood like me, I thought we should try it out. We ordered: - Red wine (my gf ordered it so I have no idea ~ but it's good). - 1 dozen northwest oyster bennies - wow. - Herb crusted ahi tuna - wow. - Dessert - nothing this time haha Service is topnotch. I thought we had a great time.

I only ate at Shuckers because it was close to the symphony (where I was going to attend a performance later) & because I was traveling casually they didn't have a dress code. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with my experience and should have gone elsewhere. First, I'm use to paying a lot for dinner but IMHO Shuckers is ridiculously expensive. -- eg., $19 for 6 raw oysters (or $3.25 each) & $10 for a a basic green salad w/a couple of tomato slices. All I ordered were 6 raw oysters, the salad, grilled scallops & a glass of white wine. The scallops were served on a bed of mashed potatoes w/a few green beans & sauteed mushrooms on the side. The oysters & salad were fine but the scallops were too salty & the sauteed mushrooms were too greasy. Total cost of the meal w/tax & tip was $80. Way too much given the amount & quality of the food I got. I've definitely experienced better & suggest that you learn from my mistake and go elsewhere for dinner.

Great oyster selection! As Midwest out-of-towner, I appreciated the West Coast selection. The bartender created a selection for us of four different oysters and all were fabulous. It looks like a great Happy Hour spot. Most of the weekend nightlife is concentrated in the outer neighborhoods, but this was a great place to go if you are just getting into town and checked into a nearby hotel.

Good Service, a little slow-but it was after Seahawks game and they seemed understaffed, everyone working was moving quickly and seemingly willing to help each other out. After a week of seafood and rich meals, opted for the hamburger with baked potato instead of fries. Good portion and taste.

Having just landed in Seattle, and coming from Phoenix, I was craving some real seafood! Upon reading other Yelper's reviews, we decided to give Shucker's a try! Now it's time to give back! This restaurant, albeit a bit pricey ($35-50 per plate), has some of the freshest, most well prepared seafood I've ever eaten. The oysters alone are reason enough to come dine here! My wife and I both ordered the mixed grill which served up generous portions of Halibut, shrimp, clams, scallops, and a gourmet crab mac and cheese! We also split a dozen oysters as an appetizer. Our server (whose name escapes me... tall slender male with glasses and a unique name.... i apologize for not remembering), was very friendly and professional from the moment we sat down, and suggested several different oysters to try. After an incredible meal he also pointed us in a few directions to go out for the night, which we found to be incredibly helpful, as we had a blast in Capitol Hill! The best part is the happy hour from 3-6 (might be 5?), with cheap drinks and $1.50 oysters... we took advantage of it every day while we were in Seattle!! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to any seafood lovers!

Stopped by here during happy hour. My wife ordered off the menu and I ordered items from the HH menu. The place was practically empty but service was infuriatingly inattentive. Server did not come back once after bringing food. We waited at least 20 min after we were obviously finished eating before dishes were cleared and while our water glasses sat empty. If you get the Louie salad ask for crab only and skip the tiny farm shrimp; you'll get more Dungeness crab. Of the HH items I had the salmon sliders were pretty good. I did not try the oysters. We will not be coming back because of the poor service.

After raving about Pacific Northwest oysters to the in-laws, we squeezed in a quick meal at Shuckers. Got the Kusshis and Olympic Miyagi oysters and they were pleased. The Kusshis were clean and slightly cucumber-y, just the way I like them. Since I was sharing my meal with the offspring, I got pasta. Typically I wouldn't do that at a seafood place but at least I got crab in my whole wheat pasta with spinach, tomato and local cheese. The bug LOVED the pasta because it was super cheesy. She basically sat through the whole meal, which is a miracle!! Our table also had mussels with an excellent broth which was a surprisingly large order, a well-executed trout and salmon. Every one left satisfied, though I was kind of hoping that we'd get dessert but nobody had room. As mentioned earlier, our restless bug sat through the whole meal. It was in part due to the crayons (8 in a box versus the usual 3 or 4 in a box that most restaurants provide) and the excellent breads as well as the pasta. Our back up was to let her roam through the excellent but short-lived seasonal Christmas tree display and the awesome teddy bear suite, but we didn't even have to do that. This is sure to become our holiday tradition.

Shuckers (Olympic/Fairmont): This place looks like an old fashioned chop house, but their specialty is seafood. We highly recommend Shuckers. My wife had their signature scallops and I had the halibut. My halibut was on the dry side but still very good. I would rate my dish a 4 (out of 5) while my wife's scallops were perfect. We also had a half order of a selection of oysters and each were great. The only drawback to Shuckers was when the bill arrived and I saw that my martinis (2) were $13 each. This was after we had no issues with the $30 to $38 dollar entree price - but $13 for an absolut? Most of all, these were not the generous pours that usually come at that price point. So, after a fabulous meal I felt a little taken advantage of. Thus, be aware should you go to Shuckers but the food was awesome.

Great service, very romantic like environment/ambiance, HUGE portions, and DELICIOUSNESS. Wait, why isn't it five stars? It's not quite there. Pretty solid four stars. Their seafood was very fresh. ASk them what types of oysters to eat. You can mix and match for your dozen/half dozen.

Loved it. My wife had the roasted dungeness crab, and I had the 11 oz ribeye. Both were delicious. Had the cheesecake for dessert. It was also excellent. Atmosphere was great. Very casual but classy. Waiter was superb, and host was excellent. Host came to our table twice, addressing me by name, inquiring about the quality of our meal, and wishing us a good evening. Certainly earned it's quality yelp rating with us!

We were sorely disappointed with our dining experience here, especially given the amazing place that is the Georgian Room. Shuckers was anything but. The salad was sub-par, and the Moussaka barely edible. It was so bad that I asked for another dish - something I've never done before! Even the dessert had problems. Oh well!

I'm not a fan of hotel food but I make exceptions. After a most enjoyable play at the 5th Ave, like apparently many others, we decided to eat dinner here. We had a free night at the hotel so we gave it a try. The wait staff squeezed us in at a small table for two fairly close to tables on either side. It was kind of distracting because I can't tune out, as hard as I try, other peoples conversations. I don't really want to hear what they are talking about but...o.k. The food was excellent. I had a scallop and mashed potato special and the berry desert, sorry can't remember the exact wording because they gave me two humongous glasses of red wine and I'm a light weight drinker. I will most certainly go back as soon as time and my waste line allow.

I recently celebrated 5 years with my employer and they took me out to lunch. I brought my husband, two co-workers and my boss. This restaurant is inside the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The hotel itself was built in 1924 and the interior decor (to me) is really neat. The wood work was artistic and the whole building made me wish it were the late 1920s. The aesthetics were just really nice and made me want to see if the rooms kept the same style too. Shuckers opens at 11:30 and we were slightly early. We walked around the winding staircases and then we promptly seated. We had reservations and it turned out to be a great idea. Once it hit noon, it became quite busy. We started off with calamari and the breading was just perfect. It was light and it was joined by two sauces. One was a cocktail sauce (I'm not a fan of cocktail sauce) and another one that I couldn't figure out. The sauce I couldn't figure out was yummy. Light and a good pairing with the calamari. My boss ordered an iced tea and instead of bringing out sugar packets, they brought out a simple syrup in a small little pitcher. Little touches like that just made the lunch feel special. My husband had the seared scallops over a bed of crab whipped potatoes and vegetables. His entree had THREE HUGE scallops ($26?) and I had to grab a bite...it melted in my mouth. Yummy!!!! I had their Shuckers Seafood Paella ($26) -- there were generous portions of clams, mussels, 1/2 a crab (minus the pincers), two jumbo shrimp and two different kinds of fish in a saffron rice dish. It was SO flipping good. I was impressed with their portions (very generous) and dish presentation. My boss ordered 5 different oysters (Shuckers is an Oyster Bar) and crab cakes. One of my co-workers had the same thing as me while another one had the King Salmon ($25). Everyone LOVED their meal. All of us also enjoyed their crab mac and cheese. Not only did they put crab into the mac and cheese (duh) but they topped it with a generous piece of crab. So rich and tasty. Afterwards we all had to enjoy some dessert. My husband ordered the fudge cake and he said it was delicious. I consumed my Oreo Mud Pie and then I was done. Only constructive feedback was my co-worker's blueberry blackberry pie. It wasn't warmed...otherwise there were no complaints. Great ambiance, service and the food was delicious. I was pretty much useless afterwards because I was in a comatose state of fullness.

The steamed clam and mussels are great - not over steamed or dry. I wouldn't order the king salmon skewers again, kind of dry and bland. You absolutely have to try the dungeness crab mac and cheese. It's thick and rich, very buttery, but so good!

I don't even like seafood, I always get the chicken, but man is it amazing. The atmosphere is old and awesome, and the service is great! A little steep for a date night but special nevertheless.

I went during happy hour for the oysters and boy was it good. It was so fresh! BEWARE: the fish and chips is $5, but it only comes with two chicken nugget size pieces of fish and two potato wedges..it was good, but the portion size was ridiculously small. I kinda felt robbed..i coulda gotten four more oysters with that money :(

  • Sheryl S.

Why Five Stars? Because they have an oyster happy hour from 5 to 7pm during the week! And the best part is not the inexpensive yummy oysters but the fact that it is relatively uncrowded and you can choose your oysters (instead of consuming just one type, ala Elliots). While the decor is a little stuffy and there are no views, we took two seats at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for happy hour. There were abour 9 different types of oysters to choose from for $1 a piece (also had other happy hour food specials that all seemed more than reasonable). We had some great Fanny Bays, Penn Cove, and Evening Cove oysters. All deliciously fresh accompanied with freshly grated horseradish and mignonette. Can't comment about any of the other offerings but if you are looking for a great oyster happy hour and don't matter as much about the scene it doesn't look like you can go wrong here!

Shuckers is located on the side-street entrance of The Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Very, very convenient when you are staying in The Hotel.......especially if you are on business and a single-traveler. Shuckers offers a daily-changing menu as well as a fine 'staple' menu. A full bar and decent wine list and great bartenders. I typically will try to get a bar-seat and thus have the particular attention and service of whomever is behind - and pouring. Great oyster offerings, chowder and a variety of apps to fill you up. Shuckers is a fine and long-standing Seattle institution.

One of the better meals I've enjoyed lately. I decided that a glass of wine would be a nice way to start my evening and while their wine by the glass menu wasn't that large they did have a nice selection and I went with a glass of Shiraz. I always enjoy it when they bring the bottle of wine to your table and pour your glass in front of you and that's what Shuckers does. The funny thing though is the wine I ordered comes in a twist off top, granted it tasted lovely but I kept thinking he was pouring me some sort of malt liquor. I know the twist off tops are suppose to be better and keeps the wine fresher but I love to hear the 'pop' of the cork being removed that's just me. So we started off with a half dozen oysters and let the server assist us in picking them out, I'm not a big fan of oysters and wasn't planning on sucking any back but it was suggested that I try at least one. I did, it wasn't bad so I tried one more it was better than the first and with the assistance of the server it was determined I like the sweeter oysters over the 'other' ones. In looking at the specials and the menu I saw three things I wanted, scallops, Dungeness crab mac & cheese and roasted asparagus. I mentioned this too the server and he was more than happy to let me order just what I wanted. My dinner companion for the evening ordered the whole roasted Dungeness crab. Out dinners arrive and everything looks wonderful. And I have to say mine tasted better than it looked, the scallops were amazing, cooked to perfection with just enough caramelization that they had this amazingly sweet nutty flavor to them, I was in heaven. The Dungeness crab mac & cheese was creamy and delicious and came with huge chunks of crab. The asparagus was fresh and lovely as well. Over all everything was wonderful even the whole roasted Dungeness crab which I stole a leg a try. The server couldn't have been any better and neither could the food. A free good meal is always a nice and welcome meal in my book.

Very tasty for a hotel restataunt. At there with my 2 teenage kids. Both chowders were good but the clam chowder was better. Had a variety of things. The pasta was decent but boring says my son. I had a plate of clams and mussels that were very good despite the clams being a little small. Fried chicken got a thumbs up but has a kick. The chocolate cake for desert was huge and boring. Avoid it as get something else. It was not bad just boring Service was very good. Only real issue was it was pricey. Ten bucks for a cup of soup. Dinner for three for everything was 117 dollars with no alcohol. Bit if you are staying at the fairmont and have money or a credit like us. It's pretty decent

Food was excellent. The crab mac and cheese and paella were outstanding. We were there on a Wed night. It was not packed but the service was bit slow. The tables are too close together so the servers and other customers kept walking by almost bumping into our chairs. Parking is a challenge so we opted for valet parking at the hotel which resulted in the attendant denting and cracking a tail light on our rental car. At least they told us and gave us a form for their insurance to pay. We spent $180 for 3 people. The food was so good that we would go back but would request a different table and hope we get better service and a better parking attendant.

Rishi, my bartender, is an absolute pro. Polite, knowledgeable, professional, and a great conversationalist. A million stars for him. If I still managed restaurants, I would have pursuaded him to work at my place. I wanted to try a bit of everything so he customized my entree for me. I usually go for Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand but he recommended one one from Oregon and gave me a sample. SOLD! The food was super fresh - crab, scallops and halibut melted in my mouth. The crab didn't even need butter. The shrimp was overcooked and was tough and dry. I had a great time at Shucker's even though I was by myself. At the end of my meal I asked Rishi the origin of his name - I sort of knew. He said he is half Gujarati and half Texan so we had a great conversation about his family. Then the couple next to me joined in and we talked about all sorts of world issues. I was an hour late to meet my friends but it was so worth it.

Service is top notch. 10 minutes till 11 on a Friday night my husband I were desperate for an oyster fix. Unaware of who might be serving oysters so late in the evening we checked with the front desk at the hotel where we were told flatly that NO ONE would be serving oysters at that hour. Standing on the sidewalk in front of Shucker's, we decided to pop in ask where we could go for oysters. The waiter, who was cleaning and wrapping up for the evening, along with the rest off the staff, looked at his watch and said "Technically, we're still open for 5 more minutes. Why wouldn't you just have oysters here?". We were so excited and grateful at the invitation and commented that we would be quick in ordering and enjoying and then we would be on our way. The waiter insisted that there was no need to rush, that we should just relax and enjoy. We sat at the bar and were treated just as warmly by the bartender as we were invited by the waiter. With many years of experience in the restaurant business I can't say enough how refreshing it is to experience being treated the same at 5 minutes till closing as we would have been at the beginning of the shift. Nice work. Thanks for a great experience.

This is an upscale seafood restaurant in the Fairmont hotel. Keep in mind I am only reviewing for lunch. I ordered a "duo" which is a combo of 2 things for a set lunch special. I ordered the clam chowder which was amazing. The salmon and white cheddar melt was another story. The taste is fine but the it is essentially 39% of a full sandwich. I am not kidding. Makes you wonder where the rest went to? It is so crumbly they had to hold it together with a large toothpick. I also ordered a tempura shrimp which is is a very salty heavy batter - so not the Japanese style. It's not even the fish and chips batter or that maybe this is "their version." I am ok with that but they battered the entire shrimp so biting into it I got the tail and the shrimp was not shelled. The waiter brought me the salad instead of the soup when I corrected him he did exchange it. I would not eat here again especially there is much better choices like the Capital Grille down a few blocks and food trucks.

A "casual" fancy seafood restaurant located in the beautiful Fairmont Olympic hotel. Like any hotel restaurant, Shuckers is a bit overpriced. Normally I'm not too impressed by places like this, but I had one of the best, most satisfying meals of my life here, hence the five-star review. I hadn't planned on really indulging myself here. I was staying at the hotel on a business trip, was by myself, and didn't have any plans for dinner, so I decided to wander down to Shuckers because, if nothing else, it was convenient. As soon as I arrived I was promptly seated and offered my choice of newspapers (they're obviously used to lonely business travelers here). My waiter was amazingly attentive. He selected a perfect wine to go with my meal, brought everything out quickly (but not too rushed) and even managed to engage me in some interesting conversation (I'm not usually that good at non-awkwardly talking to strangers, so he must have great people skills). For dinner I had seared ahi tuna steak with whipped potatoes. I'm normally not a big eater and generally don't finish all my food at restaurants because the portions are too big, but this time I was licking my plate clean. The seasoning, the cooking, everything was perfect. Did I really need that chocolate cake for dessert? No, but everything was so delicious, how could I resist? I'm drooling just thinking about it.

If you're in downtown Seattle with no way (or desire) to hit the more interesting neighborhoods, Shuckers is a decent--if expensive--dinner option. The oysters are fresh and yummy, and the menu has several options from lighter fare (the crab salad with pickeled ramps, beets, asparagus, and watercress was a standout for our table) to hearty meat entrees. Service is fair to good, but certainly not as good as I was expecting given the other reviews. Overall, a decent restaurant, but there are certainly more creative options out there for those who are willing to explore.

Definitely a good call for happy hour, if you can make it out early (3-5pm). Food was definitely the highlight - $1 oysters (8 varieties to choose from last time including some spectacular Kushi, as well as $4 fish & chips, and $3 steamed clams, salmon sliders, etc. There were about 8 beers on draft but no IPA or stouts. The wine by the glass selection was also a bit on the dull side. Decor is definitely old school, but the service was solid. I'll have to try the lunch menu one of these days, but the happy hour has already won me over.

Great food and outstanding service. Had the halibut risotto which was awesome. Oysters were good too. Our waiter, Jay, was an absolute rock star and probably was the best waiter I've been served by in years. Sure it's a little pricy but you get what you pay for. We will be back.

The Dungenous crab cioppino was "ok". The clams, mussells and scallops were pretty good but the crab was too salty. I couldn't even eat it. The broth was "ok". The server was nice and brought me a small plate of fresh crab. For the price ($37) there are probably better alternatives to get a good cioppino in Seattle. I was hoping for a much better cioppino experience.

I found Shucker's as it is across from The W, where I am staying. I read the Yelp reviews and decided to try it. I had one of the fish specials - copper river sockeye salmon for $50.00 with the tomato, mozzarella salad. I sat in the bar area, and watched the Magic/Lakers playoff game #4. The atmosphere is nice and warm. The bar is a little too cramped for my liking and the service was fine - no complaints. The fish was quite overcooked. It was dry and nearly flavorless. I thought about sending it back but was actually too tired to invest energy in such a process. Shame on me as I didn't give them the chance to improve...then again, for $50 for a piece of fish at a fish restaurant, this should truly be the rare exception (although I have no idea)...maybe I should count myself lucky. The salad was excellent. The also offer the fish with salt and vinegar mashed potatoes. The most memorable part of the meal was learning that Phil Jackson, the Laker's head coach, no longer sports a short haircut and a soul patch...who knew? Well, probably everyone but me.

Given the location of the restaurant in the business district and the likely clientele of business travelers on expense budgets and the happy hour afterwork crowd, this can still be considered a decent place to get some fresh seafood. Probably not the first choice, but it was still a welcome surprise for "hotel restaurant" fare. The GF and i were a bit aprehensive walking into the place with our sweatshirts and jeans after a day at Pike Place Market, but it was no problem in the restaurant. As other reviewers have mentioned, it may be on the high side for what you get, but its not completely out of the norm for the kinda place that this is. Its attached to the Fairmont, not Motel 6. The name itself also lends itself to some funny puns and plays on words to make this dining experience memorable. My favorite: "Mutha Shuckers". Suggestion: Bypass the menu and order whatever is fresh off the chalkboard. We went on a wednesday night and the salmon and scallops were great. Definately fresh and sauces were excellent. Wasnt in the mood for the oysters that night, but I saw that there was a happy hour menu that served oysters at 1.00 a piece, which wasnt terribly bad. With a name like shuckers, it had to be good (insert rimshot).

The atmosphere was great and the service staff was very good as well. Our waiter was more than willing to help us make selections from the menu and pair a wine with our choices. Appetizers were fantastic. We were slightly disappointed in our entrees however. I ordered scallops and my wife ordered the filet mignon. Both were a little bit overcooked, which was unfortunate, because the ingredients seemed to be of good quality. Both meals were fine-enough that we didn't want to send them back, especially since were trying to catch a show (and on a specific timeline), but by scallops were a little chewy and my wife's filet (which she ordered med-rare) didn't have much pink to it. They might have been having a bad night in the kitchen, so I'd go back again.

Fresh oysters, delicious chop salad and crab louie. Solid seafood fare. The decor is old-school, warm although a little cramped during lunch and dinner. Waiters/waitresses are great, but the entrance is a little wierd - the one off the street is kind of awkward and you end up standing at the doorway screen until someone notices you. I've had to walk across the restaurant to the hotel entrance which is a little awkward. I find it hard to get in and out of here within an hour (for lunch) ... not sure if it just takes longer to get the food out from the kitchen or what, but keep that in mind if you need to get somewhere.

I LOVE this place. I've had the same waitress each time too and she is great- I've never had a bad experience. My lone complaint is the tight quarters, but then again it gives me the chance to see what others have ordered. From what Ive seen they have great desserts but Im always too stuffed to order one. The oyster selection is amazing, just writing this makes me crave one. The smoked oysters are delcious. I've sampled much of the menu and think the choices are excellent- you cant go wrong. DEFINITELY recommend this place! Its a nice date place too, IMO. (Hope my boyfriend reads this and gets a hint) Youll even get a surprise dessert with your bill- a warm fudgy bite size cake with powdered sugar! Yum :)

we flew into seattle on christmas and this was one of the very few restaurants that was open for dinner. thankfully we decided to come here and the service and food did not disappoint. we split the cobb salad with the blue cheese and ranch dressing on the side. dressing was not even needed as the salad was very flavorful and tasty with shrimp and fresh crab. the bread basket was also fresh and hot. again we split the fish and chips and i have to say that those were some very good halibut pieces and thick wedge like chips. we thorougly enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere of this restaurant. service was very attentive and nice. i would definitely come back here if im ever in the city again.

Came here for happy hour yesterday and I'm just kicking myself for not going to The Brooklyn. The happy hour here isn't terrible, but the happy hour menu is very limited (salmon sliders, calamari, oysters on the half shell, mussels) and the portions are small. We ended up ordering off the main menu just to eat something more substantial. Next time I'm going to The Brooklyn for my oyster fix.

I went to Shuckers to eat oysters, not drink daiquiris or have a steak or whatever. Oysters. Hence the name Shuckers. That being said, the dozen we selected and shared were fresh, perfectly prepared and delicious. Not a clunker in the bunch, and no gastronomical fireworks later on. Really, when you're eating raw shellfish, what more do you want? A well-poured Sapphire and tonic accompanied nicely. So much so that I had to have another for dessert. Next time I'm jonesing to french kiss the ocean, I'll be coming here to make out with a plate of oysters. My scale: 5 of 5 Stars - Would make a special, even long-distance trip to go here, and evangelize its greatness to others 4 of 5 Stars - A go-to option, even if there were other more convenient or less expensive options available 3 of 5 Stars - Inclined to give it another shot, just to see 2 of 5 Stars - Would not go back, once was enough 1 of 5 Stars - Would actively avoid, would recommend against going to others, experience filled with great sadness and regret

Went to Shuckers for the first time today to try the Dine around Seattle lunch menu... Loved every single thing I got! The fried oyster bisque was rich, the Steelhead fillet perfectly cooked with a side of yummy fried onions atop a spinach salad. Finished with a light and airy chocolate eclair accompanied with an expresso shot. My only critic is that the service got a little slow towards the end because they got really busy. Definitely going back to Shuckers the next chance I get.

I had lunch and sat outside and enjoyed the rush of downtown life. My meal was wonderful and the wait staff very kind and attentive. I had a nice fall risotto that was incredible. Even in nice restaurants I avoid ordering risotto, it is usually bland and not cooked properly. This risotto was awesome! I want to go back and try dinner.

On Saturday I ordered two appetizers, the white chowder and the shrimp wraps. I have expensive tastes and this restaurant delivered. The appetizers come with three different types of bread, a traditional roll, a fresh and crispy flat bread and a hardy wheat roll, all of them fresh from the oven. I loved all of them! You can fill up on appetizers here. The chowder was very rich and creamy. The clams had a perfect texture and the potato pieces were the right size and texture. The shrimp wrap casing remained crisp and dry even though it was dripping with juice. The sauce was perfect, not too salty, with a refreshing hint of tang. The shrimp were crisply breaded and the lettuce was perfectly sliced and crisp. The shrimp meat itself had a slight sweetness. The shrimp rolls were extremely rich in flavor. Quality control must be a big factor here. Then again, it's at the Fairmont. Nothing was salty. The main ingredients were allowed to stand out in both dishes. Both dishes contained mildly flavored pieces of bacon, but neither dish needed the bacon. If you are a college student or a young worker looking for a great quick bite to eat, this place is probably NOT for you. The clientele is a bit older (40-50 something), dressed nicely and seemed to be on vacation with money to spend. This is a place to take a client or an out of town guest you want to impress to lunch downtown.

I came here for the Dine Around Seattle 3 courses for $15 lunch. Overall, the food was very tasty, but my lunchmate and I encountered some logistical problems when attempting to consume it. We both began with the Caesar salad, which we had both ordered without the included crispy calamari. Since we didn't get the calamari, they gave us extra romaine, which was nice. However, the romaine leaves came standing up with some croutons and Parmesan cheese in a small bowl while the dressing was on the side, all on a larger plate. It seemed like the appropriate way to eat the lettuce was to dip it in the dressing (what my lunchmate did), but that would mean missing out on the croutons and cheese. Ina subversive move, I found myself compelled to dump out the cup of lettuce onto my plate and begin tearing it up into bite size pieces, and then mixing everything with the dressing. It's a good thing I was with a good friend, because had it been a first date, it might have been a little awkward. I also tried the restaurant's own Irish soda bread roll which came out in the bread basket, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, along with the butter, which was very tasty. For the main course, I had the grilled steelhead, which came on a bed of sauteed spinach with some crispy potato pieces and a balsamic drizzle, as well as so rosemary bread with goat cheese. Yum! My lunchmate had the Greek salad wrap, which she said was good, but was also quite difficult to eat without the contents of the wrap ending up everywhere. For dessert, we split the chocolate caramel cupcake and the espresso eclair. With the cupcake was moist and wonderful, I couldn't really taste the caramel, and it was actually quite a mess to eat. The espresso eclair was fantastic. In conclusion, I thought the food was very good, though I would have preferred if it was a little bit easier to eat.

I love Seattle; it is one of my favorite cities to visit. It is clean, progressive, and inhabited by peaceable easygoing folk (who are non-aggressive drivers). But, Yelpers of Seattle ... your reviews are too kind (save the brutal honesty of Jessica Y.). Shuckers is unworthy of your aggregate high rating. Even though service is delivered by a charming and capable wait staff, in an elegant old Fairmont Hotel, the food dismal. Overcooked dungeness crab ... inconsistent temperature across a Chilean bass filet ... cold & dry mashed potatoes ... rubbery encrusted shrimp ... Seattle has much better to offer. I am always skeptical of hotel restaurants, but I decided to give Shuckers a try . My meal was quite marginal ... but, I realize that even the finest restaurant can (infrequently) serve a poor quality dish. So, given its exceptional Yelp rating, I decided to give Shuckers a second try. Strike two: worse meal preparation than on my first visit. Shuckers has a charming staff and cozy (dark tones, woody Pacific Northwest) decor; it really lacks but one thing - a chef. You can find much better seafood (for very reasonable prices) on the Seattle piers. "Shuckers" should be pronounced with a silent "h".

  • Kevin L.

Shuckers was just OK. 2 oysters out of our dozen weren't separated from the lower shell, and just about half of them had bits of shell in them. Not a great shucking job, considering the name of this place! The steelhead I had was very fresh, but not super interesting. Price are about 30% higher than they need to be, but all in all this place satisfactory if the location's convenient for you.

  • Cherry Blossom Girl A.

The food quality is better than most hotel restaurants. Unfortunately, you have to expect that you'll pay more not only because Shuckers is in a down-town hotel, but more so because of their ritzy hotel location. Usually I adore Shuckers- it doesn't get too crazy busy for lunch or dinner and you can usually walk-in with no problem. My last visit makes me re-evaluate my desire to eat in hotel restaurants. I had the lunch duo- a mixed green salad and the ahi tuna crab melt. I was stunned to see such an empty plate! Ingredient-wise both were fine but the portion was so small. The crab melt was all of 8 bites. Tasty but a shockingly small portion. If you go and order this duo, steel yourself. You'll end up wanting the trio or raiding the bread basket to feel full. Why can't I give this place 2 and 1/2 stars? I would if I could because my check came with a delicious chocolate baked good and that was unexpected. Still 8 bites of a sandwich is sad.

Shuckers, in the downstairs of the Fairmont Hotel and convieniently wedged between the business and hotel districts, is a classic. It is a dependable business lunch spot with reasonably priced lunch specials (duo for $10, trio for $15) combining soups, salads, and sandwiches. The atmosphere is comfortably upscale, but the exposed wood tables make it intentionally down-market of the other Fairmont watering holes within and appropriate for bring your kids, or slightly rowdy friends. There are some great people watching tables tucked by the windows, the bar is long, level, and ample and the people are nice with the kind of customer service we've come to expect from the Olympic Hotel. Even under the Fairmont management, the Four Seasons feel lingers here and I wonder if some of the staff stuck around this spot. I'm giving it 3 stars because it really is dressed up "format" food and I think it meets, but does not beat, expectations and it is not innovative, exciting, or a draw to its area. But its there, if ever you happen to need it.

On our last night of a great Seattle trip, my sister and I had dinner with friends at Shuckers. Simply, it was freaking awesome. The service was fantastic. We arrived pretty late so when our food came out the kitchen closed down. When I got to the middle of my filet and it was totally rare, the room service crew had to come down to take care of it, and they did so immediately, leaving me my dungeness crab mac and cheese to snack on. Good lord that stuff was amazing. We were there during Copper River Salmon season and the restaurant had five entrees with both kinds (king and sockeye). I'm not a salmon fan anymore, but this was amazing stuff with incredible flavors and textures. If you can get a hold of some, try it. You won't be disappointed. Dessert was spectacular (vanilla bean creme brulee and deconstructed key lime pie), and the wine list was complete without being overwhelming. The look and feel is like a lodge or gentleman's club--very warm and inviting.

My wife and I have eaten here many times on travel, but more frequently when The Olympic was a Four Seasons establishment. The dark woods of Shuckers are a little old-fashioned (some say classic), visually heavy and make it feel more dressy inside than it really is. We've never found the service anything but friendly, appropriately casual, and professional--and reasonably prompt. Gravitating to many a light, interesting or daring seafood entree, usually a daily special, we've brightened up the cozy and warm --if a touch serious-- atmosphere. Though I don't like oysters that much, the oyster bar has always been fresh and interesting. There's over fifteen varieties of bivalves to be shucked from around Puget Sound and served up --in Olympic fashion: however you please-- baked, raw, smoked or Provencal to name a few. Certainly "comfort" seafood can be found here, too, from steamed crab and clam chowder to fish and chips or fried food plates. Or, if you're with a non-seafood eater (oh, the heresy!), great steak or tender chicken. Our memories, however, are more rife with unexpected, fresh seafood combinations like sole with hazelnuts, or red snapper with regional gorgonzola and crisp pear. Or expected yet punched with flavor entrees such as grilled shrimp on skewers of rosemary or wild king salmon with fresh, tender veggies. Between the specials and a regularly changing menu there's always opportunity here for an adventure in new or traditional flavors, always presented beautifully on the plate. We've never been greatly impressed with the desserts. Frankly, once you've enjoyed one of Shucker's wonderful appetizers or a salad with an entree, it's just too gluttonous not to push away the dessert menu. Plan on $30-50 per person for dinner with drinks. Yet for a mere $10-15 you can stop in for lunch to enjoy a modest sampler of the excellent seafood for which Shuckers has earned its long-standing, quality reputation. We've found it worth the money every time, even if it is a touch on the pricey side. Reservations are accepted, though we've rarely had trouble getting a table with a brief wait. It's always more convenient to eat here if one is staying at The Olympic, but like everywhere downtown, parking isn't too hard to find, if expensive.

If you're in the mood for a gin and tonic or a 14 year-old scotch sipped slowly in an old-school, chummy striped-tie atmosphere, the bar at Shuckers will do nicely, thank you. The bartender has been there forever. And if he'd tell me his name before the third scotch I'd probably remember it. No matter. He's a gem and a true pro. The oysters are served crisp and cold and as fresh as the last tide change. And at happy hour prices especially, they're a must. If you're queasy about oysters, try the tiny Kumamotos. You might get hooked.

Pricey, with a old school charm. That's the best way I can describe it. The wait staff and bar tender look like they have worked here since it opened. Most of the patrons looked the same. The food was good. The drinks were good, but not that strong. That being said, here is the real reason to frequent Shuckers... Its your best chance of running into a celebrity in Seattle. The Fairmont is the only five diamond in the city and you can often see guests stopping by for a drink or dinner. Its about as close to hob nobbing with the stars as your going to get in Seattle.

The patio at this place is perfect for a lazy summer afternoon. The only reason I go here is for their oysters (you absolutely must order Kumamotos) and their Prawn Salad. When I went here with my dad I quickly struck up a conversation with some visiting lawyers from LA and I even ended up ordering their oysters for them (yea...I'm that good). Stick around and drink away the afternoon and then head further down the hill to the W bar. What a combo.

Came here for dine around Seattle. I ordered moussaka but got a very greasy tart with some potato and lots of Parmesan but mostly crust. The tart was literally bathing in a pool of grease. I saw nice food going to other tables so maybe just the dine around menu is the problem. My wife got halibut and chips. Fine but could have also come from any Irish pub.

I really like this place. We were lucky enough to be in Seattle during the wild king salmon season and this place had the best preperation out of all the places that we tried (I practically had salmon every night). It has an old school european chram that I really like. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because our waiter, on the 2nd try, was kind of spaced out. Based on our first experience, this place deserves 5 stars.

We've got a running joke about being able to get the worst table in any restaurant. It held to form here. Armed both with a reservation and as hotel guests (needed the one room night to status at Fairmont) the hostess went back to "check if your table is ready" and then came back to offer us the table wedged against the door opposite the podium. I watched three people bump into the chair just standing there. So we groused and then found good seats at the bar and ate there. As with many overpriced seafood joints, the trick is to graze the appetizer menu and call it a meal. Terrrific oysters, good broth on the steamed clams, and little salmon belly fish sticks with an awesome soy miso sauce. Not cheap but a good time and the bartender was friendly. Looking around there were LOTS of terrible tables, so no loss not sitting.

First of all the food took way too long to come. The restaurant was not crowded and I had to wait 20 minutes for my salad and another 25 minutes for the entree.. When the entree finally came there was so very little seafood (for a seafood restaurant)! Admitedly I ordered pasta and crab and prawn---but still, I would have expected more than 3 prawns and two small pieces of crab atop a bed of pasta one person could never consume by themselves. The best part about the restaurant was the wine to be honest. Very good wine. Disappointing experience overall though; I will not go back!

The seafood happy hour of fresh oysters is one of the best in all of Seattle! I loved all the different variety of oysters to select from, We will definately be going back...hands down the oysters from southern puget sound are by far some of the plumpiest and cleanest oysters I have ever eating.. I wish I could remember their name and hope they will be their when we return next week. Lovely wine list and wonderful cocktails too.
