I had heard mixed reviews about Red Mill burgers but my experience was pretty delicious. We came here after a Friday visit to the Ballard locks which are just across the street--a good location for a quick lunch. I got the bacon deluxe which hit the spot--the pepper bacon was amazing! However, the fries weren't really anything to write home about. I think the key here is to get a classic burger because that's where they really shine. Note: they only take cash or check here.

Food great and they have really nice burgers. Three stars for locking the doors right at 9pm when we were sitting outside on their patio. (when we were eating and needed a drink refill (which we paid for)). A warning would have been nice but they just locked the doors. Thank you.

It blows my mind how anyone could think they have good burgers. I dunno, maybe I went on a bad day? There was a line out the door when I went, so it's not like they weren't fresh. They were just BAD. Avoid avoid avoid. In the interest of trying to say SOMETHING positive, the building is cute and the location is convenient to the locks.

I love the burgers here. They are surprisingly good. The staff is friendly and they are on top of things. Pick up some burgers here and take them to Golden Gardens Beach Park. But the last time I was in I ordered a chicken sandwich and a veggie burger. They weren't bad but I wouldn't recommend either as they were entirely uninteresting. This was disappointing as the burger I had here was so great. I'll be back for a burger.

It's a Red Mill - but definitely not Totem House. I honestly think they should change their name as the fish and chips are NOT what they used to be. Being a Red Mill it's just that - which is A-OK in my book but I really loved the Totem Fish House. :(

A buddy of mine wanted to stop by here on our trip to Seattle after he saw it on the Food Network. We came, we saw, we conquered. It was a bit of a drive from our hotel in a taxi but well worth the experience. I gave up red meat for lent along with sweets so that automatically eliminated me from having the Milk Shakes that are to die for along with any burgers. Sad. I know. I ended up with the Chile Verde Chicken Burger along with some fries while my buddies dove face first into their deluxe burgers with extra cheese and bacon. My burger wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. I wont let me rating be affected by my choice not to eat a burger thus I am giving it 4 stars. Make sure to get the fries along with the Mill-B-Que sauce which as amazing. Loved it. Don't waste your time on any other sauce. This is one is money. Overall great experience. Stop on in if you can. You won't regret.

Not good :(. We wanted it to be good, but it just wasn't. We ordered 3 fishwiches and a burger with green chilies. The fish was soggy/greasy. The burger patty was dry, so dry. Fries were good and the had malt vinegar.

Everything we have tried here is so yummy!! My husband loves the fish and chips, the kids always get the grilled cheese and well the burgers are great! Only bummer is they don't take cards so bring cash or check :)

Having moved back to my home state after 10 years in LA - I heard a lot about Red Mill. So I had some very high expectations. Maybe too high from all the great reviews - because I thought the burger was just ok. I got a blue and bacon burger. The meat tasted like frozen patties and was so overcooked (that seems to be an issue in Seattle - a lot of grey burgers. I need to start asking for medium rare so I can get some pink in my burger). The bacon is excellent. But the bottom bun started to disintegrate which is a big no no in a burger. And I am glad I got it a double because the patties are super thin. Which is fine but then you need a double or it would have been overwhelmed by the bun. The hubby liked his burger with the Anaheim chile. The fries were ok. I did not care for the onion rings - but the hubby liked them. They were too thick for me (I like a thin onion ring) - but that comes down to personal preference. But on the plus side I LOVE that they are continuing on the legacy of making Totem Fish and Chips. I got a piece of fish to see if it tasted the same and it does. I grew up eating that fish and it was always a special treat to go to Ballard to get that fish. Normally I like a beer batter on my fried fish. But the cornmeal batter on Totem fish has always been amazing. Full of flavor and spice. And the tartar sauce tastes the same - the best I have ever had. Now back to personal preference - my hubby has never liked the fish because he does not care for the coating (yet he likes cornmeal batter on fried catfish. Go figure). But I LOVE it. So it is great that we can do to Red Mill Totem and I can get the fish and chips and the hubby can get his spicy burger - and we will both be happy. So 5 stars for the fish and tartar sauce. 3 stars for the burger and fries.

I love Red Mill and I always will, but the fish house is not my favorite. The burger and normal Red Mill fare are still amazing. I was not impressed with the fish. The pieces were too big. The crust was kind of mushy. I took bite and liquid leaked out from in between the crust and the fish. The fish was flavorless and chewy. I did like the coleslaw. It was perfectly dresses and would have been great with the burger (a Slaw dog would be good).

One the 8th Day GOD created RED MILL BURGERS! ALL HAIL THE BURGER GOD! Red Mill Burgers is the beluga caviar of Seattle Burgers, except their not served with Cristal Champagne but Coca Cola. Best Grease in Seattle hands down, ANYONE WANNA ARGUE ABOUT THAT? With mountain of bacon 2 feet high sitting on the grill you feel see the juices of bacon and burger merging together like two hearts. Now the perfect fries & onion rings just are the bonus to your taste buds. RED MILL is just divine. It's a spiritual awaking for burger & bacon enthusiasts to unite, and thank god it's a local place.... Keep it real RED MILL!

I avoid this place on weekends because I think waiting in a long line and searching for a clean table ruins the whole eating experience. So I went in on a weekday night and was pleasantly rewarded with no line, quick service, and good food. We started coming to the Totem House when it was a fish & chips place. Later we started visiting Red Mill Burgers when it moved to Phinney Ave next to Starbucks. When the original Totem House closed it was a nice surprise to hear that Red Mill Burger decided to expand their business and takeover the old Totem House building. This building was originally constructed in 1939 as a curiosity shop for people visiting The Locks. It sure is nice to see parts of old "Historic Ballard" preserved. The totem pole that stands outside the building (with its Northcoast Indian architecture) has been resurrected with a paint job to look even prettier then before. I started coming to this location by The Locks for my bacon cheese burgers fix (Blue Cheese & Hawaiian burgers are too). The burgers taste best when they are pipping hot. The taste seems to dissipate as the burger cools down. If you come in don't forget to peek into the kitchen and catch a glimpse at the stack of bacon they have piled high... It's something to see.The prices seem fair. Their Onion Rings are so good, you can eat them hot or cold. I took mine home and left them sitting out for an hour and they were still delicious.

Food was tasty, fish was all that good fish and chips should be, fries, well cooked, crispy and hot! Onion rings to die for. The potato bacon soup, oh snap, it was clam chowder right, not many clams that I could find, however, it was very good for potato bacon soup. Didn't have that comfort food artery clogging, butter and cream decadence along with chunks of celery, onions and potatoes, one comes to appreciate in the northwest' clam chowder. As good as everything else is, step up your chowder to make it hit the other standards you have achieved so well.,

Red Mill is one of the local establishments that usually winds up on local (and sometimes national) lists/TV shows of "Must Try!" Their Ballard location definitely takes advantage of its local iconic status, having the well known totem art of the previous fish and chips joint. As with the other two Red Mill locations, this incarnation offers the burgers, sides, and shakes (that are excellent, BTW) that get constant attention. This location is also paying tribute to the fish and chip tradition in the area (hi, Lockspot Cafe!). I came last night with the fam: Dad, one of the brothers, and my sister. Between the four of us, we got a sizeable amount of food and three shakes. Considering how busy it was, and how much food we got, we had no problem getting a table to fit everyone and didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes for our food to come out. We also got everything at the same time, which is always appreciated. Now, Red Mill makes a solid burger. Is it the best I've had? No, that award lands itself to Quinn's. Also, I know a small business is allowed to make decisions which best benefit them, but it's archaic to be cash only in 2014 and not have an ATM on premises. Dicks Drive In is also (in)famously cash only, but they've had ATM's on their locations premises for awhile now. So, bring cash.

Looks may be deceiving. Fish may look small but it's very thick. Love the buttery texture and flacky cod, very nicely deep fried. Tartar sauce was amazing too.

Their milkshake is to die for. Disclaimer: I never actually died so my statement might be slightly inaccurate.

  • Di Y.

Got the verde burger. I usually get veggie burgers, but I trusted the source and got a regular burger. Was not disappointed. Everything from the buns to the veggies to the sauce to the patty itself was delicious. The Totem House location in Ballard is right next to the Ballard Locks, so it's a nice walk after your meal. There are about five or six tables outside, which is great for when the weather is nice. Friend got the fish 'n chips because the other location does not have any seafood options. He loved it as well!

  • Brian B.

Red Mill is always a solid burger, and their totem house location is no exception. Their burgers are a better deal than the fish and chips, and there are better F&C locations in Seattle if that's what you're craving. They say their onion rings are award winning. They are pretty dang amazing. Get a side of redmill sauce (25 cents) to go with them. Trust me. The redmill sauce is like a really smoky, savory, thousand island dressing. It's good. BTW, I think that award (from GQ magazine) it like 10 years old now, but it apparently ages well. Unless you don't like blue cheese, the bacon and blue burger is much better than the bacon deluxe in my opinion. Recently went there and got the two confused, and ended up with a much less tasty burger. Their shakes are pretty good, but usually I can't get myself to donate the calories to the cause.

We stopped here to kill some time before checking into the hotel. I must say this joint is a gold mine. The food is awesome and the service is pretty good. I would definitely recommend it.

Fish and Chips or Burgers and Rings? All of it! I love that I can come here for a juicy burger and onion rings and my non-meat eating hubby can get the fish and chips. Eat your meal there or take it across to the Ballard Locks or Golden Gardens and watch everyone drool over your food.

Excellent caramel shake, crispy gargantuan onion rings. Had the blue bacon burger and loved it. The prices were surprisingly good, the kids loved it. Highly recommended.

  • Fred P.

Ahhh...that's a bit better. Just a little walk up stand, limited fish offering, but a good deal for the price. Again, the fish is not freshly battered in the kitchen, but I'm starting to wonder if that is even available in this town without going to a fancy eatin joint. I guess I'm spoiled from living in WI most of my life. At least the fries were good. The breading did have a nice taste with just enough spice to let you know what up. Music a bit louder than I care for, but I'm an old guy. At least it wasn't some sappy pop music or worse...'oldies'. I liked it for a quick lunch. I'll be back. Next time I may dive into the pile of bacon they have stacked like cordwood.

Lived in Seattle 6 years, lived right by the Magnolia location, never tried Red Mill. I remedied that a few days ago! This particular location only accepts cash or check, so come prepared. It shocks me every time I see a business that doesn't accept debit/credit, because I'm fairly certain they would make up in business any fees that a bank might be charging for the service. Anyway, the menu is pretty basic. Don't expect combos. For some weird reason, you have to order everything separately. They offered one combo-- a fishwish one. Not exciting at all. They don't even offer any kids meals. That reeks of cheap business practice. There are a decent amount of vegetarian options, from subbing a Morningstar farms patty into existing burgers, ordering off their 3-4 vegetarian options, one of which is a grilled cheese. I opted for actual meat this time, since I had heard great things about the chain and was excited to try. I got a carmelized onion burger, fries, small soda, and grilled cheese. I think it was 20 after tip, so fairly cheap lunch. The place was packed and is very small. They have a great location across from the Locks and a few outdoor tables, so on glorious sunny days (like the one I went on) you can opt for a to-go and stroll through the locks while eating. My burger was okay. Portions are huge. My friend commented that she didn't hit any bleu cheese (bacon bleu) until the very center. Burgers are cooked well done and they don't ask you how you want it, so if you are a rare or med well type person, make sure you say that.

  • Marie B.

First of all - cash or local checks only. Do not bother going to the ATM at the 7-11 across the street, the fees are ridiculous. Pull out some extra cash while at your own bank, credit union, or while at the grocery store. This is a belated Yelp post for 6/26/14. I know that Red Mill burgers rule, however, I had for the first time a fish burger. It is what McDonald's Filet O' Fish aspires to be in its wildest dreams. Delicious and mammoth fish filet. Kiddo had a bacon cheeseburger and peanut butter shake which made his afternoon. This meal hit the spot. Again, avoid the 7-11 ATM!

lunch food: bacon deluxe and onion rings. i have always heard about this place for its burgers. maybe i was hyped up too much on this, but i wasnt too impressed. the bacon was good, but when is it not. the beef itself wasnt any special though. its good, but i wont be driving all the way from the south end for this. however, the onion rings are awesome! i particularly like the uneven batter. parts of it are extra crunchy and parts of it were soft. a good combination. if im ever nearby in the area again, ill definitely go for the onion rings. ***3/5 service: order and go. it was really busy around lunch time. total wait time took awhile from ordering to eating. i saw a little dropped her shake and the prep people made her a new one at no charge. so that was nice. ***4/5 ambiance: very small place for the amount of people there. it was crowded especially for people waiting for food. there were no place to stand to wait for your food. there is outdoor seating, but that doesnt really help when youre inside ordering. ***3/5 price: on the high side, id say. however, it does make it up in size. its bigger than most burger joints. the onion rings were a tad small, but its because it was so good. also, remember to bring cash. no credit cards. they have signs up to use the atm machine next door. ***3/5

Love love Red Mill Totem House- the fish and chips are truly amazing as are the onion rings...I'm so glad that they kept the tradition of totem house fish and chips, the shakes are always good....I don't usually eat the burgers so no comment there......

Our go to place to eat after a day on the beach or sailing! The kids love the strawberry lemonade and giant onion rings and we love the cod & chips, red onion veggie burger, & bacon blue cheese burger. Can be super busy on weekends. Go between mealtimes for shorter lines. Make sure to bring cash or checks!

Deluxe Burger was very good, as expected or possibly even a bit better. I had to write the review (which is one of my very few) because the staff is so beautiful. When I first walked in I thought it was candid camera or something. The two young ladies looked out of place they are so delightful. I'll keep it short so it doesn't sound even more creepy than it is, but it's worth going in just to have a chance to meet these two.

We were planing on getting classic burgers at Dick's, as I've done on other visits to Seattle, but as good as that company is with many other things, they don't allow you to customize burgers at all, and their small burgers all have mustard. That's stupid; kids generally don't like mustard. So we left. Our local friends suggested the Red Mill Totem House instead. It was a lot more expensive lunch that way, but the burgers were excellent and the fresh cut fries and fresh milkshakes were a perfect way to top off a great meal. I would have given 5 stars except they didn't seem to understand that when I ordered a burger with just cheddar cheese and tomatoes for my son, that I didn't want anything else on it.

Great place to unwind after a trip to the Ballard Locks. Good burgers, fish & chips were very good, and the service is awesome. This place is too small for the amount of business they get, but I guess that is part of the charm. We will definitely be back for a milk shake next time. DONT FORGET: Cash only

ughhhhh, FYI. There are 3 locations right around the Seattle area. Incase you tell your buddies to meet you at one, specify EXACTLY which one! Or else you'll be like me & go to all 3 in an hour. lol. Okay, besides that fiasco the food was sooooooo on point. Got the BBQ Chicken Burger & the "sauce" was soooo yummy! The onion rings were humungo but whatevs. Who complains about that, right? I tried their chocolate milkshake & it hit the spot for sure! It was thick when I first got it but after it sat & melted down it was just the right consistency. [= This location had by far the best outside seating. BTW; they have an outdoor intercom just incase you want to sit outside but are waiting for your order. Loooooved the sign outside. SUPERSONIC Reppin' for sure. You'll find me here again [=

There fish and chips are so great! Onion rings are amazing!!! Awesome burgers, fries...you name it, it's probably good. We've never been disappointed in anything we've ordered. There isn't a long line like the one on Phinney. There peanut butter milkshakes are nothing short of delightful. $&Remember to get cash or bring your check book...they don't take cards. $$

Cash Only & Taste like Wendy's but you know.. fancier? Yeah best description i can muster. I'll say this Very just put it in my mouth smell cacophony of bacon/beef fresh veggies when you walk in. I just had a burger because you must at least get that right and they did.

  • Carol L.

the best burgers anywhere, fish & chips & onion rings also. But the "boss" who turned up the volume on the music when I asked if he'd soften it and then swaggered, is not doing a good job of inviting his customers to have a good experience and come back again. It was such a pleasant place when the music was a pleasant accompaniment instead a blast of vibration that made me lose my taste buds.

  • Rachel N.

Oh my god! YUM! The inside of this place is on the smaller side but looks like it stays pretty busy regularly. I'm new to the area but my coworkers who have been here says it's a great local spot. My husband and I went here, I got the blue cheese burger and he got the fish and chips. Both entrees were delicious and reasonably priced. We live farther south but we will still be coming back! Check this place out if you're in the area and you won't be disappointed!

  • Khairi E.

Solid burger, had the verde burger Anaheim peppers were roasted and tasted ok. Ate the double deluxe today. Meat patty is kinda thin so a double is a good item to order. The prawns tasted fresh and the breading was seasoned well. Fish n chips were likewise very good. Flaky thick cod. Tartar sauce is homemade as well as Thai chili sauce for shrimp. I wanted to order a milkshake but didn't. They have over 12 flavors! Some nice choices. Cash or check only. Limited seating and gets busy.

  • Jason E.

Hard to beat the stacked bacon and green chile burger, but the onion rings are the real standout for me. You only get like, 5, but they are mammoth. The fish & chips, if you get the 3 piece it would easily feed you and two kids, I love how the huge filets are done in a batter similar to the awesome crunchy onion rings. Not much seating in there and while it's burgers and fish & chips, the food is prepared and takes a little while per order, so I'd skip this place if it looks too crowded. Oh and bring CASH.

  • Jessica H.

3.5 stars. Basically the burgers and shakes I had were the same as the Interbay location, which means they were pretty good. This is a good location for Red Mill as it is directly across from the Ballard Locks but also means a couple of things: 1. Ridiculously crowded during the summer (line out the door) 2. High volume = quality and service goes down a bit What made it closer to 3 stars for me was the staff was not super friendly, they always seem a little worn down because of the high volume of the establishment. No 'Hi, how is it going, what can I get for you' more like 'Give me your order and move on lady'. Also, all tables were dirty made all the more noticeable by it being on the smaller side for an in house dining experience. Before it converted to Red Mill, I was in love with Totem House's fish and chips. It had some of aforementioned pitfalls as a business but dang that fish was good. And for that ladies and gentlemen I will return promptly and update my review.

I walk by this quite often and finally decided to go in one evening...turns out to be an awesome decision! The veggie burger wth mill sauce was amazing! So juicy! Not to mention pretty big and filling . I also recommend their onion rings as you get big crunchy rings for a low price! Yum! I will be back :):)

I went to the Totem House off and on growing up in Ballard, didn't shed one tear when they closed, the place went down hill fast. The only positive was the neat old building, that of which I'm happy the Red Mill folks took it over. The verde chicken burger is as good as ever, as is the shakes and onion rings. Overrated for some? Perhaps, do I care? Heck no

  • Philip W.

Onion Rings ......pretty good ! But, who on God's green Earth puts their lettuce underneath the burger ?? This creates a wilted, grease dripping green leaf that makes your hands smell like their seemingly pre-pattied burger for at least a day afterwards. Seattle's love for this place truly amazes me. But, knowing the low standard of taste in this town.....I should know better. I stopped going years ago before the lines started pouring out the door and my heart is better for it .

    (2)
  • Kook T.

I gave it a three star because the food is good, but it is very aggravating that they do not take credit cards.....you have to run across the street to get cash, which is no fun after work and having your family anxious for dinner

What was the Totem House, you ask? Well Ballard neophyte, let me tell you: it was more than just a fish and chips joint. It was a landmark, an icon, and the place that conjured more nostalgia for me than nearly any other place in Ballard. As a toddler my parents would push me in my fold-up stroller to the shack decorated in primary colors and a totem pole and we would delight in the deep fried goodness from within. Then we'd walk over to the Locks, try not to sit in goose poop, and watch the sunset. It was pure magic. Then Ballard started getting "cool" and people seemed to not understand the kitschy appeal of the beloved Totem House. Eventually they had to shut down. It was sad, and a piece of my childhood was gone forever. But, at the same time, the best thing that could possibly happen also happened, and that is Red Mill. Like a knight in beef and awesome, Red Mill arrived with mountains of bacon and epic burgers and onion rings. Respectfully preserving the iconic decor of the former business, Red Mill set up shop in the high quality fashion that makes them famous and my husband and I eat there weekly. I like to think of it as the "next chapter" for me and my Totem House. I recommend: - The Double Bacon Deluxe with Cheese: it is a legend. One bite and you'll know why. - The Chicken Club: for if you feel like the "healthy" choice? It's just really good. - Onion Rings with a side of Mill-B-Que sauce: the onion rings are incredible but the sauce, a mixture of the signature smokey mayo-based Mill Sauce and BBQ sauce, totally puts them over the edge - Any of the "Verde" options: those roasted and hand-peeled peppers are just too good for words, man - The boysenberry shake: I don't know why, it just always seems like the right choice Important: Red Mill Totem House is cash or check only!

The best damn burger I've had. We split the bacon cheeseburger and it was simply divine. Thank goodness I was only visiting Seattle... otherwise I would have to deal with the temptation of going there all the time!

I'm a big fan of red mill, it's delicious! And now to have the option of fish and chips? Even better! I am a sucker for their blue cheese and bacon burger. DELICIOUS. I love their onion rings, and get the Mill-B-Q to dip your onion rings or fries in. It's SO good! Fair warning, the burgers are LARGE. You won't leave that place hungry. MOST IMPORTANT: this place is CASH ONLY (or checks). Don't forget, or you'll be hoofing it to the ATM at the 7-11. Take your meal to go and enjoy it at the locks!

On my list of milkshakes in Seattle, Red Mill gets a special mention. It may not be as good as Molly Moon's, but it's a burger place and the price can't be beat. Not to mention the really good burgers and onion rings. This is the best non-gourmet milkshake in town. I tried vanilla malt.

I'm not a Red Mill fanatic, but I did used to enjoy the fish & chips at Totem House from time to time. When my lunch companion revealed his desire for a milkshake (had a morning full of dental work) we decided to give it a try. They weren't too crowded, and were serving up orders quickly (many were to go). I found that sitting in my wheelchair at one of the two low tables meant that I couldn't really pull under the table (leaving my lap exposed to spills), so I transferred into the booth. The seats are quite deep, and the depth doesn't match the table depth well, but it does make it easy to get in and out of. If you come when it's busy you might not be able to get one of the accessible tables, as the rest are all bar stool high tables. I decided to sample the fish and chips, and I was quite happy. I did find that I preferred eating my fish with a fork, as when I held it in my hand and bit into it hot grease would spurt out. Next time I'll ask for a separate paper tray to put my fish on (sitting on top of the fries lead to some soggy breading). The generous serving of fries is delicious. I noticed that they used compostable straws and forks - good work Red Mill!

I have been to Red Mill before. This particular one said it got voted best onion rings by GQ so I went in and tried it. The batter has pepper in it. Nothing to write home about. I can't believe this was voted best onion rings. For me, Red Mill always sets the expectation too high then lets me down. People once told me that Red Mill has the best burger in Seattle, but it was just mediocre. Then now, saying that it's Best Onion Rings? Perhaps the sample size was not large enough.

I've enjoyed Red Mill burgers, but wasn't impressed with the fish & chips at their Totem House. I like fish which is light and flaky. This was rather dense and didn't have much flavor. The coating was also very bland. I think I'll stick to Red Mill's burgers and fries next time. Fish & chips aren't their area of expertise.

I love me some Red Mill! This was my first time at the Red Mill Totem House location. Went in on a Friday night at about 5:45pm and the place was over run with families and tons of kids. Only about 24 seats total in the whole place, good luck finding somewhere to sit. They have added fish & chips, chowder & cole slaw to their menu. Was looking over the menu while waiting for our order and noticed that the fish & chips were really pricey something like $11 for a three piece and $4.29 for a single piece of fish. It may be worth it, I might try it someday. Hamburgers, fries and shakes are awesome as always. Plus there's a parking lot, always a plus in my book!

I love Red Mill and have been a frequenter of the other locations for years. But it really puts a damper on your Saturday afternoon when you've been out running errands for awhile, and are starving and can't wait to get home and dig into your amazing Red Onion Veggie Burger and fries, only to find out that you've been given a Blue Cheese Bacon Burger. The kids behind the counter are like 14 or something. They seemed very confused. I hope they iron out the kinks here because I was really looking forward to having this place in my neighborhood!

I've been a fan of Red Mill for the past two decades. It's a Seattle "must" for anyone. Why isn't it as famous as the Space Needle? It's a travesty of unparalleled proportions. My favorites include the Verde Burger with the fire-roasted Anaheim peppers and Tillamook Colby Jack cheese, red onions and the Red Mill sauce. It is simply the most outstanding burger I've had in my life and I could seriously eat these every day, but I don't because I actually have a family that wants me to live into my 90's. Why didn't God create a kind of cow that is both tasty and safe to eat every single day? Seriously, was it just to mock us? Some people end up with the benevolent version of God, I end up with the version that mocks me with food I'm not allowed to eat every single day. Nice. God must be a woman, I'm convinced of it. You can't have the burger without their onion rings or at least an order of fries and a peach shake. Of course, these are made in peanut oil, which is what drops my five stars to a four. Peanuts are potentially fatal to some people, so I am very careful about handling the fries and onion rings around certain people in my life with peanut allergies. It's really not that hard. It's not like I just let them sit for hours and stare at them. They're lucky if they survive 5 minutes in my presence. Seriously, they are so awesomely-delicous-Ican't-wait-to-devour-them-mmm-mmm-good. However, I should say this seriously: Switch to a healthier oil, Red Mill!!! Peanut allergies are no joke. Finally, if you just can't get behind the concept of eating Bertha T. Cow, you can't go wrong with the Verde Chicken Burger. It's just like the Red Mill Burger, except made from an animal that clucks, rather than moos. I should ask my wife if I'm allowed to eat more of these, right?

WOOHOOO aballluuoooo! Red Mill and thei famous fish and chips. Nothing can be better unless its free and on a sandy beach in costa Rica with hand squeezed orange juice and a fresh coconut after a lavendar oil massage and knowing you are going paddle boarding soon.OOp,s Love their food.

So pair the best burgers in Seattle with fantastic fish and chips and seafood options? Yeah, take my money please. My favorite is the Bacon Deluxe with Cheese. I also like the Verde burger a lot. The fish and chips may also be the best in Seattle. I get those a lot too. Fries are great. Onion rings are STELLAR. They have shakes and Arnold Palmers. The reasons I don't go here constantly: 1. I would be fat. 2. That feeling fried food gives you an hour later. The reasons I go here too often: 1. It's a convenient walk from one of our renovation projects. And close to the Ballard locks! 2. Lots of outdoor picnic tables so the dog can join us. That's a big plus. 3. The signals my mouth sends to my brain while eating here. 4. Fiancé suggests it constantly.

Consistently the best burger I have had in Seattle. Good service, clean restaurant, delicious food. Inside is a little small and hard to get seating sometimes. Also be prepared to pay with cash, plastic will do you no good here. Love this place, I can't say enough good things about it. Ask for extra bacon. People who complain about this place is usually for a reason other than the food, however I have been fortunate enough to only have good experiences.

Flavor wise, Scooters leaves Red Mill hanging. Also, a huge pain that they don't accept cards.

We came here after visiting the Ballard Locks and were so glad we did. This is one of those places where you start drooling when you walk in and can't decide what to order because everything looks so darn amazing. I got the fish sandwich, and my fiancé got the fish and chips, along with an Oreo milkshake. The fish was perfect, not overly greasy, and the fries were tasty too. Everything tasted fresh and the prices are really reasonable (especially for Seattle). It looks like a lot of the average/negative reviews were about quality downgrades during high-volume times. We went in November, and though it was a pretty full restaurant (there were people squeezed in everywhere and waiting to sit), the service was fast and the food still high quality. Knowing how busy Seattle gets during the summer, though, I'm sure it can get crazy in there! We'll be back, next time for the burgers!

Yet Another in the Quest for Fish & Chips. Really, the fish & chips are pretty good. The cod is flavorful, cooked just until it's done and no longer. It's flaky. The batter is a little spicy, which is a dangerous enterprise for cod, given how delicate the flesh's flavor is. They pull it off just fine. It's not at all greasy, either. Portions are generous. The clam chowder is delicious for a burger house. It has actual, you know, clams. Ones that aren't even rubbery. Ones you can taste. Ones that leave you suspecting they came out of real shells from a real sea. The soup is thicker than what you'd get at a posh restaurant, of course, but it isn't gluey and it's nicely spiced. The other bits of this and that in the broth taste fresh and distinct. I wanted the fries to be a little crisper on the outside, but they were otherwise competent. I was ecstatic to get real lemonade: jeezus h. christ I'm sick of living in a country where people voluntarily give legal tender for Minute Maid chemicals. Don't go to the Greenwood location for fish & chips. It's too far from the sea, or something. Not on the menu.

Great burgers. The bacon was crispy and thick and the buns were amazing. We will be back next time we go see the locks.

Double cheeseburger deluxe with fries, diet coke and a peanut butter/banana shake. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon. The line can be long in the summer, but the food is great and service is friendly. I haven't tried the fish and chips but they did look good.

Great place for a day off from the diet when you are ready to re-clog the arteries a little bit. The great Red Mill menu is here with the delicous and balanced deluxe burger with bacon and all of the vegetarian options you would come to expect. In addition, having fish and chips on the menu is great for a trip back from Golden Gardens. Great chocolate chip mint and boysenberry shakes too. Hopefully, it will stay less crowded than the other Red Mill location... So far, it's drawing a few less UW students and more local residents around the area...or so it seems. I really dig this place.

I have a feeling that on a different day, this would be a 4-star review. I was pleasantly surprised on my first Red Mill visit to find the prices to be quite reasonable, and the burgers to be rather tasty. I had the #1, my date had the Verde, and we had a side of fries with Mill-BBQ sauce. I don't recommend the sauce, but the fries were decent and probably the only overpriced thing on the menu (small portion for $2). I asked for my burger with no tomato or sauce, and didn't see that they make them all medium well until I sat down. That said, the burger was not dry at all, but quite flavorful. However, it was extremely salty. I have a feeling it was the bacon, which is odd, because it is pepper bacon, but I could barely stand the saltiness of my otherwise delish burger. I had a bite of my date's bacon-less burger, which seemed much better. I'd definitely go back. Two people, two brugers, fries, soda and a shake for under $20. Well worth it.

This was probably a case of "it's me, not you", but I'll let you decide. After ordering our burgers specifically "veggie", I ordered a cup of chowder as well. I'm pescatarian, so the bits of clam in the chowder wouldn't bother my insides. After receiving the order, I walked back across the street and sat down near the Ballard Locks, to watch the boats travel through. After devouring my burger (always good), I started into my chowder. It took only a moment to notice that it was filled with bacon. Maybe I should have expected this, because they pride themselves in their bacon, but when ordering CLAM chowder, I didn't really stop to think that PIG would be a part of it. It's not the fault of the person taking my order at all, although if they had been paying attention a bit more to my order, a simple "there's bacon in the chowder" would have been nice. As it was, I ended up throwing the chowder away after trying to sift the bacon out. It's got a ton of it in there, so there was no point. It tasted good though, so for those of you who enjoy your pig w/ your clam, I'm sure you'll like it. In the future, I'll know not to divert from my usual routine.

Somehow, burger isnt good as Red Mill at Phenny ridge. Burger was just a ok. My onion ring was too crunchy. Only this Red Mill has fish burger, so I tried. Nothing special about it. If I need burger, I will go Other Red Mil.

I've been here twice now, and I got the same thing each time: the veggi burger with the caramelized onions piled on it. It was pretty good, at least enough to make me a repeat, and the second time when I forgot to specify that I wanted the "veggi" burger and not the regular burger they were quick to fry me up another pattie. The ambient was nice, though the music was a bit on the loud side for my conservative taste. The staff was very friendly. My one complaint (thus the 4 star review) is their cash-only policy. Yeah, I understand it saves them like 2.75%, but at the same time you've got a good percentage of their customers crossing the street to the ATM at the gas station. Not convenient. At least accept debit cards?

Food is always better when you are hungry, right. So going to the Red Mill Totem House looked to be a good opportunity for some good local food with a hungry group. The atmosphere a nice reflection of the outside totaem pole built into the building. It was also close quarters. At this time the place is fairly busy and there is limited seeting then. The staff was friendly but one of my requests cost extra and at pick up I come to find out they didnt and wouldnt do the change. I clarified that I had already paid and had to wait five minutes while the fry's boy went back and forth between me and the manager to get it resolved. I suggest sticking with the items they consider to be favorits. They are for a reason. The fishwich was good, the frys were nothing special and the burgers had a better presentation then taste and size.

  • Zannie S.

Pros: It's a really good burger if you don't have time to make/grill your own. Better than Scooter's or the now defunct Zesto's. It's more convenient than the Greenwood location plus they have seafood which my spouse likes. Cons: Well today, for example, the spouse-beast was craving RM onion rings and a mocha shake so I thought I'd be nice and get some take-out. I called in the order and it was repeated back to me (correctly). When I went to pick it up the counter help was confused about the mocha shake (although the back crew had it ready) and when I got home there were no rings!!! Not normally such a problem but Red Mill is not cheap and the only reason we spent $25 there was for the rings but alas, NO RINGS. *sigh* I like that they hire doe-eyed teens to get a little "real life" experience. So I can forgive the NO RINGS thing. It happens. What I cannot stand is the "mature" male counter staff person with the shaved head who rings me out and offers me no change. Really? I dunno.....I like to support locally owned small businesses and am willing to pay more for that especially if it means better quality product or service. Red Mill's service needs a little polishing.

Walked in thinking it was the old fish-n-chips place and was surprised to see it was a Red Mill. Great location. Red Mill's food is consistently good. Only wish one could order a beer and it would be great if this location was open a little later. Several times I have wanted to go after coming back from boating or the beach at Golden Gardens, but it was already closed.

Totem House Fish n Chips for a family of four can get pricey, but we now have a solution. The Fish Burger! Much more economical, tasty as you would expect a Red Mill sandwich to be. It's basically one of the battered fried fish as the "burger." That, and sharing fries keeps the Totem House doable and delicious. Nice way to slide in some omega-3 for kids who are a little suspect of fish. We notice that the Fish Sandwich isn't on the online menu.

The burgers here just aren't as good as at the other Red Mill locations. They're good. But not Red Mill Good. Someone said it has something to do with the grill getting better with age -- years of Red Mill special grease makes for the special burger. Maybe that's it. I'm grateful that Red Mill swooped in, saved the Totem House facade (and a few menu items), and traded in tasty-ish burgers for the near-blight that had taken over that corner even while the Totem House was still operating (in its last years). I am not grateful for the extreme attitude that the teenage little $#!^s working there seem to carry around with them. My elderly 27-year-old self was shaking his fist at them, to be sure. Cut the attitude, stop conspiring with your lazy co-workers in the back, and make me a better burger.

I'm only reviewing the fish, fries and shakes. They only fry fish and chips in their oil, so their fried fish doesn't contain traces of chicken as other fried fish places do. Fried Cod is sooo juicy and delicious. Their 3 or 4 piece will feed two, so keep that in mind. I got their fish burgers with roasted hatch chili and THAT my friend is the thing to get. Cash only, but hey, I'm willing to pay cash to keep the price down. Their fish is really fresh and delicious. It's quality fish you are paying for here!

I can't believe I now live within walking distance of a Red Mill. I avoided coming here for weeks because I knew that once I popped, I won't be able to stop. (Wow, that was lame. Forgive me for that.) And sure enough, I came in early last week and within days, I was back a second time. I hadn't had Red Mill in a couple of years so I just ordered their regular Bacon Deluxe Cheeseburger and added a side of fries. Delicious. Their bacon is always perfectly crispy and their burgers are always neatly made with fresh veggies and a juicy beef patty. And while I like my fries ranging from soggy to burnt to the crisp, for those who like theirs golden and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, then Red Mill fries are for you! Totem House is located right across from the locks so if you wanted to take your burgers to go and have a picnic at the park on a lovely day, then by all means. :) Oh, and it's cash (and I think check?) only.

I was weary when I learned that Red Mill was opening a building away from my home. Walking distance from great fries, onion rings, burgers, and let us not forget the shakes! I fight myself not to go at the drop of a hat; it would easily add to my waistline. But it is good. The veggie burgers with the green chilies are fantastic, and I can never decide between the fries or the onion rings. The onion rings have a corn meal coating to them that add flavor to its crunch. Chocolate Malt to finish it off- double yum. This location also has chowder, and fish fry that my husband has said is satisfyingly good. But the burgers win his pallet hands down. Even nicer that- this is a local company, they made use of an old building while keeping its history and heritage. Thank you Red Mill.

I LOVE RED MILL!!! I'm super stoked to have a Red Mill location three blocks away from our house! The BF and I walked over here last night to check it out, after waiting months for it to open! PROS: - Big, flavorful burgers! I, personally, believe Red Mill has THE best burgers in Seattle! I am a HUGE fan of the Bleu Cheese n Bacon burger, as well as the Verde burger. Both burgers are so good - bleu cheese crumbles, peppered bacon (YUM!)... and roasted anaheim peppers in the Verde burger... there is no other burger like it! Trust me, they are DELISH! - Onion Rings! Even onion haters (like my BF) love their onion rings. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They make great sidekicks to the burgers. The french fries are honorable mentions. I only wish they were a little crispier! CONS: - SUPER tiny space. Both the Interbay and Phinney Ridge locations are small, but this place is itty bitty! I think the kitchen might be bigger than the rest of the restuarant at this Red Mill location. - Cash or Check ONLY! I always carry cash on me, but I know many other do not! So, be prepared with some skrilla, or walk across the street to 7 Eleven to hit up their ATM. Did I mention that I love Red Mill?! I am not sure whether or not having Red Mill Totem House so close to our house is a blessing or a curse. I have a feeling I will be eating here VERY often (I'm going to have to workout more or do several more triathlons to avoid gaining 100 lbs) Right now, I'll take it as a blessing! I wish I had tried Totem House's fish n chips while they were still open, so I could compare Red Mill Totem House's take on 'em. Oh well! I will have to try their fish n chips some time. To be honest though, I'm not really in a big hurry to do so - 1.) their burgers are too good for me to pass up, and 2.) $7 and some change for 1 piece of cod and some chips is a little ridic, IMO! But hey, maybe they are worth it, IDK!

Fresh made to order burgers, grilled to perfection, each and every time. My favorites include the veggie verde burger with roasted anaheim peppers, and the chicken club sandwich with thick slabs of peppery bacon. I also greatly enjoy their fries with a side of Mill-BBQ sauce to dip. This is the only fast food joint I will allow myself to frequent, because they serve the best burgers in Seattle, hands down!

OMG SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE! This poor location was such an eye sore, and Red Mill came in and totally changed it. I love Red Mill burgers to begin with, and I also love fish and chips! We went for lunch on a cold Saturday afternoon, and it was already packed. My partner had a burger with bacon and cheese, and it was up to the usual Red Mill standards. I tried the special fish sandwich, and was blown away. The fish was crisp and hot without being overcooked. While I'm not a fan of tartar sauce, what came with the sandwich was light and flavorful without being cloying. Location is great (though a little ironic that it's right next to the Ballard Locks), and the inside of the house is warm and inviting while not feeling super crowded even when it is. I think we've found our fish and chips place in Seattle :)

I wouldn't say this is the best burger I've had but it's pretty decent compared to your ordinary burger joint. I believe I had the bacon burger? not sure what its called but it was yummy. only bad thing I would say about this place is that they don't take debit, cash only. other than that this place is a decent place for burgers.

Seriously good fish and chips. Spud used to be my favorite until I tried Red Mill Totem House. I loved how the breading was minimal, but crisp. The fish was juicy and meaty. The fries were hot and seasoned well. It's going to be hard to beat this.

A-OK seems a very appropriate rating for my experience. I may have gotten my hopes falsely up by their inclusion in Seattle Met's Best Burgers article, but it was decent. I have had much better burgers and I have had far worse burgers. I ordered the Bacon Deluxe Cheese and a Chocolate malt. It was 5 PM and not very busy for the start of dinner time and the service was super fast and friendly. As for the burger patty portion of my sandwich, I found it to be flat, dry, and rather unremarkable, the lettuce and tomato were crisp, fresh and the tomato was juicy, the bun was a pretty standard sesame seed bun like you can get at the supermarket or from Franz. What saved this burger was the incrdible pepper bacon, it was delicious, great pepper bite, lean but with just the right amount of bacon fat for that great bacon flavor, and not brittle and burnt. If this had been served on sour dough toast without the hamburger patty I would call it a 5 star BLT, but since it is a burger I have to take away 2 stars for the beef patty itself. Now, if they had a plump juicy patty along with the other yummy portions of the sandwich it could be 4 or even 5 stars. The shake was decent, just didn't get all of the malt blended into it so had a few chunks of malt powder and not enough malt flavor mixed into the shake itself. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but definitely better than any of the big chain burger places.

what do you need after playing sand 4's at golden garden? that's right, you need a redmill burger. oh tasty burger, in all your permutations, how i love you & your crispy little friends, onion rings. also, need to thank the ladies who work there for not hating us for showing up at 8:45pm when we know they close at 9:00.

I haven't been inside the restaurant since Red Mill renovated it, but my husband picked up burgers and fries for us. For years, I've been waiting for someone to make decent clam chowder and fish & chips here in Ballard (everything we ate from the original Totem House was terrible). But I've heard the seafood items still need some work, so I'll wait awhile. I hear the onion rings and tartar sauce are excellent, though. And neither of us need a milkshake, but the machine was broken that day, so I'm glad we weren't hoping to get one. Our burgers were very good, the fries were decent, and they were a better value than Scooter's. The one thing I didn't care for was that the "Mill sauce" was unexpectedly spicy and hot (about 1.5 stars). I liked it, but I know many people who wouldn't, and IMO, "special sauce" is not something most people expect to contain chile peppers or hot sauce. Maybe I got a little too much on my burger, or somebody slipped when they added the hot stuff to that batch. But if that's how it's supposed to be, it really should be mentioned on the menu.

I never came here before Red Mill bought it up but I just went earlier this week and let me tell you it's just as good as the other two locations (and more parking than the Phinney Ridge spot). My favorite burger to order here is the Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger, but really anything with Mill Sauce on it is going to be a treat. Take your burger with a side of onion rings (Walla Wallas with a special house made breading is what makes them so good) and a shake (pedestrian, but a classic none the less) and you've got a great dining experience. And don't forget to put your cell phone away while you're inside: It's rude!

I was always a fan of Totem House. I am a fan of Red Mill. This summer, I saw that Totem House closed. Then I saw the Red Mill Totem House sign go up and I was excited. Tonight I waited in the opening week line to try it out. I had two pieces of cod (no chips) and a cup of clam chowder. Everything was tasty. perfectly breaded and fried cod and some really good chowder (I am a fan of a little Harvey's Bristol Cream in my chowder, but with no liquor license...). Also, the tartar sauce was great. Smooth and creamy. My only complaint is that at $4.89 a piece, the portions of cod are small. They were much bigger at the original Totem House. Will I go back? Of course! You can't go wrong with a Red Mill burger or Totem House fish & chips! Not exactly on my diabetic diet so I won't be a regular, but for a treat, it's well worth it.

Having friends in town, i planned out a day and part of that was going to the locks and then taking them to the new Red Mill location at the old Totem House. So my only compliant was that the open on Sunday at noon, but other wise it is the same quality and tasty as the other two locations. I did not try any of the Totem House originals because I am there for burgers and rings. I can now say that I have gotten lost in the Red Mill Bermuda Triangle!

  • Rose K.

I was initially happy that Red Mill saved the Totem House building, but after giving this place many tries for the sake of supporting local businesses, I can't do it anymore. Staff? Okay, though my last experience was a big MEH. As for the food, deal with the utterly sad, wilted lettuce issue on your burgers! I ordered a cheeseburger this evening (to-go) and made a point to ask for no lettuce because of this issue. What did I get?? Gross. I won't go near the fries. I'm not an animal looking for a salt lick. As for the fish and chips - Well specifically, the fish. You heard my take on the chips. First time I ordered this was to-go... Leaked through the bag like you wouldn't believe. Was worse inside the bag. Thinking because it was to-go, ordered it and ate it there. Same. I do say the shakes deserve the two stars I gave them.

Burgers were really good, I'm definitely a fan of this place. I had the deluxe cheeseburger and my husband had the bacon deluxe cheeseburger and said it was delicious as well. Onion rings were a bit pricey for the amount we got, but they did taste good. Will definitely be returning if I'm in the area or any other red mill burger house.

Totem used to have my favorite fish and chips in town- period. I tried the Red Mill version today and while ok, it's definitely not the same recipe. The breading is thicker and more dense, along with having a different spice mix. The tartar sauce was a step down also. The chowder was the saving grace- though a less creamy interpretation of chowder, I thought it was great. I'm sure the burgers are fine ad as that's what Red Mill has been doing for years. I'm honestly just sad that the best fish and chips in Seattle are gone now- I had high hopes that the new ownership would keep the old recipes but no such luck. To be objective, these fish and chips are decent but nothing to go out of your way for- on par with Applebee's or Red Robin. Breaks my heart- they used to be the best and now they're just mediocre.

On Nov. 2nd, my friend and I met for lunch at this new establishment. David had a bacon cheeseburger, which he pronounced as good. I had a single piece of cod and fries/chips with tartar sauce, plus a cup of chowder and coleslaw. The fish and fries were good, but the tartar sauce seemed peppery. I've had regular tartar sauce, which I like, plus I enjoy tartar sauce with wasabi. Maybe I need to have more of Red Mill's tartar sauce to learn to like it. The coleslaw also was peppery; not sure if I like it. The chowder was too watery, plus had too few clam pieces. They need to check out the chowder at Ray's or Ivar's, and try to match their creaminess and amount of clams.

  • Taylor W.

I give it a resounding 'meh'. The onion rings are great. The shake was decent. The burger, well, that's where it all goes downhill. $7 for a burger that is comparable to a Whopper. At least Whoppers are flame-broiled. And cheap. And easy like a Sunday morning.

Best Bacon Cheeseburger I've ever had. Very good fries and their onion rings are great. Though their milkshakes need some work. Over all I'll be coming back!

You can't go wrong with Red Mill! Place looks great! It will be a tempting new neighbor. The first Red Mill opened when I lived in Greenwood and was known to them as no pickles! Moved away a long time ago and I guess they don't remember me. Oh well! Welcome to Ballard Red Mill!

Easily the worst burger I've ever tried to eat in Ballard. I do not understand the Red Mill cult; I didn't like the food at their Phinney Ridge location either but at least it was way better than this garbage. Ordered the simple deluxe bacon cheeseburger - soggy, greasy and gluey-nasty American cheese. Onion rings inedible past the first one; served cold in a puddle of oil. Gross. I'll never be back and feel like I need to warn as many people as possible. :(

So, I like Red Mill. I make a point of going to the Dravus and Greenwood locations monthly and since I live in Ballard I was stoked they were going into the Totem house.....now that the dust has settled and I have tried a few times I am bummed. This place could be great but the employees have no idea, literally! Lettuce under the burger, made sloppy and most are rude kids working here and if I was the owner compared to my other locations some serious coaching would be going on. The fish is better than the Totems which is like being the tallest midget, the burgers here lost something in translation. Tourist will flock because they don't know any better but Seattle's favorite burger is now officially up for grabs. The sloop Tavern has a better burger a block away...........

It was a big disappointment. We were all excited to get fish and chips from the Totem House, well the fish and chips we had was no where near the quality which was served at the Totem House. To put it bluntly the fish was dry and the batter was soggy. The kitchen did not understand fish so we had to wait over 20 minutes to get our order and it was not busy. It is the Red Mill not Totem.

This was awesome! Red Mill has a great reputation for fabulous burgers and now they can add fish and chips to their repertoire! My husband had been craving fish and chips for awhile now and for his birthday I thought this would be a great place to go. Great location in Ballard too! Busy place, got lucky and grabbed a table as guests left but there is also seating outside at nice picnic tables. The shrimp and chips with sweet chili sauce was definitely worth ordering as well. Great service, great food, great atmosphere! Can't wait for a sunny day to sit outside and enjoy!!!

I enjoy a good burger so our stop at the Red Mill Totem House across from the Ballard Locks was great. All three of us devoured our burgers and we all shared some fries and onion rings (which were a little overpriced). The only negative part of the experience was parking; we had to walk 2 blocks to reach the restaurant because the lot was full. We will all visit Red Mill again in the future!

I have been putting this review off for far too long! I need to to take the time right now and share this. Last January on a Saturday night, the two of us were watching a good football game. We decided to call in an order for 2 burgers. At half-time we went and picked them up. We got them home, un-wrapped them and found an error. I called, explained the situation to an obviously new employee and was asked to return for a fresh, correct order. Upon arrival I spoke to this new employee who was a little less than polite or knowledgeable. The manager Danelle took over the situation and all was taken care of. Or so I thought. When I got home with the second "corrected" order, there was yet another error. I called, got the new employee on the line who made me feel like the bad guy, and in the end was asked for my phone # so that Danelle could call me back. Danelle did call me back within 10 minutes and to keep a long story short, she handled the situation more professionally than anyone I have ever communicated with in this type of situation. (This was a night where 4 people had called in sick at Red Mill and they were extremely busy.) I did keep my cool and understood that they were doing the best they could. Danelle made sure that I was satisfied with her problem solving and that I would return in the future. I have returned because of how this inconvenient situation was handled and how Danelle made me feel in the end. She cared about me and wanted me to return. Thank you Danelle. I recommend this place to everybody who wants the best burger available in Seattle.

I have always been convinced that this place is overrated, everybody has always labeled it as far and away the best burger in town. They do make a great burger, but it is not as special as it is cracked up to be. Nothing to complain about at all (except their milkshake maker was out of service during my most recent visit), but there are comparable burgers in town.

Another great Red Mill location. I went today for opening day. Burgers taste great and the strawberry shake I had was even better than I remember them being at the other locations. I held off on getting any fish, but they threw in a couple pieces of shrimp in my takeout order. I was surprised they were so good! Good job Red Mill!
