First time at a yogurt place, yeah I know I'm late to the party. Whatevs. This is a small Red Mango so we ate outside. Thank goodness the Seattle weather was gorgeous that day. We had a coupon for buy one, get one free. They honored it [= Pretty sweet. I got the Milk Chocolate with strawberry toppings. I don't know if I was suuuuper craving something sweet or my serving size was small but I pretty much inhaled my yogurt. It was yummy. I'll maybe venture out to try more daring flavors & toppings some other time but I was fine with what I got especially since we got 2 for the price of one!

Came here for the first time to try the frozen yogurt parfait. We got the mixed berry parfait and it doesn't look as pretty as it does in the picture. There is more yogurt than fruit (or at least the person who made ours made it that way). I guess that was slightly disappointing since the one from Yunnies looks like the picture they advertise. However, it's not the reason why I'm taking down a star. The quality of the frozen yogurt is definitely high quality and is really creamy and delicious. It's actually not as tart as I would have wanted. The granola tastes good and has a nice sweetness to it. However, red mango says they use fresh fruit but the strawberries in our parfait were for sure frozen. We could feel the iciness of the strawberry and it wasn't pleasant. Overall, it's not a bad place. While we were there a lot of people were eating the new pumpkin spice flavor of frozen yogurt. I think the portion size for their frozen yogurt at their prices are very fair.

I got a small size of their new oreo flavored frozen yogurt without any toppings, which cost me 4 dollars. My opinion about it? Well, I don't know how to describe the taste...which doesnt even taste like orea or chocolate. It was so disappointing and the worst frozen yogurt I ve ever had! If u want some refresher at UV, save ur money for red mango and try jamba juice instead, which is cheaper and better.

Pricey. I had the best Parfait ever from here though. I don't come here often because I prefer you top places over red mango. Cheaper etc. I had to knock a star off because I was the only one needing to be helped and the guy was in the back and not paying attention to if anyone came in. Their yogurt is amazing. Creamy, Tart and just plain delicious. My Parfait actually had a lot of fruit in it and it all was fresh, not frozen crap. I wish that he had put a little more granola on it though.

This is my 2nd favorite place to get froyo. I go here every month and also love how they gave me a free cup of froyo on my birthday. :) I love their original tart with blueberries, mango, and boba. Unfortunately I went in the other day and yes, they violated a food safety concern by leaving out fruits with the radiating sun...ground was also filthy with sticky residue. Please have your sole worker clean up the place if there are no customers.

This is my first visit and I ordered the Nutella Yogart. It was ok but I guess I didn't like this place very much. The yogart tasted a bit sour like it was supposed to but I just didn't like it very much. The server was very nice when she offered different flavors for me to try. I'm picky so I tried every flavor (haha). The Red Mango website isn't very good. I tried to search for the location and nothing came out. I don't think I'll be coming back here again though. I'm just not a Red Mango fan. I do recommend this place because you may like it. You'll never know until you try!

The most curious thing about Red Mango to me is how these guys continuously proclaim how healthy their food is. They advertise that their competitors aren't as great, yet this store in particular felt extremely generic to me. They have all the things you would expect from a frozen yogurt store and just about nothing more than that. I really think they should show and not tell. If they're so much better than the other places out there, then it should be obvious without words being used to communicate it. That said, I think this place is still all right. I'm a softie for frozen yogurt, so I can't help but like this store. My first impression is that service is really friendly. They greeted me even before I set foot inside (though to be fair, their door was open and they could see me coming in). I asked them about a coupon for two dollars off any purchase of at least five dollars, and they said they were still accepting that. Then I looked at their menu. They have six flavors of the day. I don't know whether that means they actively promote those flavors for that day or they only have those flavors that day. Nevertheless, I asked what the amoretta flavor was and they kindly offered me a free sample. I got a large size cup here and it certainly was large. The taste of frozen yogurt on a warm day is extremely satisfying. If I remember correctly, their prices were $2.95 for a small cup, $3.95 for a medium cup, and $4.95 for a large cup. That's pretty similar to "the other guys" that Red Mango is competing against, so I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. In the end, it doesn't seem particularly outstanding to me, although it is still pretty good and the staff was nice. The store is a nice touch to the University Village, but I think I like the Yogurtland on the Ave more.

The original flavor is my favorite.

  • Melody P.

Free Sample! The original flavor was CREAMY and delish. I should have stuck with strawberry topping. However, I tried Mango. Mango was not as good as strawberry. The service was moderate! The facility was ok! It wasn't a busy day since it was cold when my sister and I stopped in. It felt like they just cleaned up the tables and seating (wet). I am happy that there's parking!

Red Mango's yogurt is definitely on the creamier side (compared to Pinkberry's). I like it, especially the original tart flavor. I think it is a bit pricey - a medium yogurt with two toppings cost me about $6. One topping is $0.75 and any additional toppings is $0.50 each. This location is kind of odd. It is in the middle of University Village in a high traffic area, where there are road lanes on both sides. So if there is spillover for the line, the line can potentially spill out into the parking lots. Also there is very limited seating in the store itself. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program and you can swipe your card for every purchase. Also if you check in on Foursquare and show them your checkin you can get $1 off your order.

I was watching some kids and they asked to go to Menchie's while we were at U. Village, but I only knew about this Red Mango. We were all pretty disappointed--it was expensive, the seating was minimal, there were only a few flavors, and the toppings were pay per each which the woman put on. Though, at least it kept the kids from getting a ton of candy so that's the only upside. The place was pretty dirty too. This isn't somewhere I'd come back to, I think I'd just rather go over to the U. District for some ice cream or something.

Original flavor with granola, mochi, and strawberry toppings. I get cravings for this crunchy, chewy, and fruity combination and Red Mango delivers every time. For the smallest size with 3 combinations it cost a bit over $5. Expensive for about 2/3 cup of frozen yogurt. But just enough to satisfy and share with a guy who isn't big into this lighter dessert. Pros: Simple and delicious, fresh toppings. Cons: A tad expensive for just frozen yogurt, not very atmospheric seating inside.

If you want sugary, full of fat, calories, preservatives, and candy-like frozen yogurt, do not go here. Red Mango is for those who truly appreciate the delicious, natural, healthy, tangy, tasty flavor of REAL yogurt. The frozen yogurt itself is so full of flavor, that simple additions such as vanilla, chocolate, pomegranate, is more than enough. They will give you free samples of anything you want - once I got four samples of yogurt, plus some smoothie and they didn't bat an eye. The fruit toppings are all FRESH FRUIT. Again, if you are looking for dairy queen, go elsewhere. The sweetness of the fruit toppings vary with the season, as does anything not processed or fake. Sometimes tangy, but always fresh and delicious. They have mango, strawberry, kiwi, blueberry, and more. They also have mochi (soft sweet rice), honey, chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, and lots of other toppings as well. They do NOT charge per teaspoon (as another reviewer claimed), and their portions are so generous they are usually falling over the rim! If you buy two toppings, you get as many as you want. Once my partner got something like ten toppings, again for the price of two. The service is almost always very friendly, although sometimes they do get stressed out - you should see how insanely long the lines get here on a sunny day! They are mostly young people, and as anybody who has ever worked customer service, the public can be a very cranky and difficult lot. But they have never been rude, and always when I give them a big smile and ask they how they are, they manage to smile back no matter how tired they are - and 99% of the time the service is great. I absolutely love Red Mango and have to hold myself back from going all the time!

Went to get a hot chocolate that was advertised in the window. HORRIBLE! The powder was mixed with hot water (no steam), tasted awful. I returned it and asked for one mixed with milk . I was warned that it would take a while, and a while - a long one - it took. Taste was so bad I returned it, being out $ 2.76 for that experience . On top of that the server touched the cups on top: Health violation right there! Thanks for listening, Eli

What's the deal-eo? 6 people were working in a space about 2x the size of the interior of my Honda. The product is good- same as any other Red Mango- but seriously, 6 peeps? And three of them seemed overly stressed and confused about what they were making/who's it was. I'll pop in again and see if maybe it was training day or something.

  • Emily A.

I like red mango but this particular location SUCKS! The girl working there was beyond rude and couldn't care less about customer service. I don't know who hired her but it was horrible. Also, the smoothie I ordered tasted like sugar crap, I took 5 sips and threw it out. Never going to this location ever again.

    (1)
  • Laura C.

I like simple and red mango can be as simple as you want it to be. They don't have a trillion flavors, but they do have fresh fruit and tasty flavors. I love their pumpkin and white peach the best! Red Mango also has a rewards program, Club Mango, which is great because their price point is a bit higher because you can't pay by weight like other places. This location is great, the staffers are pretty friendly, but not overly so and it's generally clean. I love the outdoor seating, even in the winter is a nice addition.

    (4)
  • Austin H.

Ridiculously expensive for bad tasting yogurt. And the kicker is they charge $1 per teaspoon of (regular cereal) topping. Bottom line: avoid like the plague.

  • Opal D.

They were out of acai when I came. I asked for a blueberry smoothie instead (not on the menu) and they obliged. Great stop for a snack while shopping!

A recent trip to Red Mango convinced me that this yogurt is pretty bad, and not worth the pretty penny. First, the flavors are truly suck-worthy. Plain is so tasteless that I forgot I was eating it, and the current Flavor of the Month is VANILLA. Really? Worse, it tastes exactly like Plain. [Okay, the chocolate was pretty good, but it won't come back]. What happened to Green Tea? Further, the service is a step beyond surly. I expect them to just take handfuls of the stuff and fling it at the line one day. And that would be a step up. Let's see, tasteless, expensive, and surly. It could be the best thing to eat while shopping at U Village at that.

    (1)
  • Flora C.

Well, it's the only option at the shopping center on the hot day. Red Mango will do it for now.

    (3)
  • Chandini S.

Red Mango is the most delicious fro-yo anywhere. I am a fan of fro-yo that tastes like, oh what's the word, yogurt. And this does. It's perfectly tangy with just the right amount of sugar. I get a small plain and I'm fully satisfied.

    (5)
  • Coty H.

This is pretty much on par with all Red Mango locations. The only issue with this location is that there is very limited seating inside. It's much easier to get your fro yo and walk around U Village instead of trying to sit inside. For gluten-free eaters, the original flavor is gluten free but I was told they couldn't guarantee that the other flavors are. Don't let this sway you from going somewhere else. The original flavor is delicious.

  • Maria G.

Amazing fro-yo but pricey! But, what other price could you expect at uvill?

    (4)
  • Minji L.

Besides Pinkberry, this is my favorite place to go for froyo. Never disappoints.

    (5)
  • Michael C.

Blatant rip-off of Pinkberry, and is terrible. If Ruths Chris is Pinkberry then Red Mango is McDonalds. Honestly this the prototypical Seattle / Microsoft theft of a concept and do a very bad job of copying it. But seriously, if you like Pinkberry at all, don't go here. It will leave you feeling decolate and preturbingly disappointed.

  • Diane C.

I love red mango frozen yogurt. That's why they get 4 stars. From pumpkin spice to white peach to pomegranate and tangomonium...Red Mango gets me every single time. Red Mango really works for me because I'm not a huge toppings person. (Occasionally, I'll throw on some sprinkles.) It's always light, refreshing and just what I'm craving. The other great thing is that Red Mango does a lot of coupons, especially if you join their Club Mango customer rewards program, which gives you points which translates into actual dollars to be used at Red Mango! The circle of yogurt continues. The guy who seems like the owner is really great, cheerful, and polite...but a lot of the other employees clearly don't love their jobs, so don't go expecting stellar service all the time.

  • Romance S.

This place was so Dirty last year - that I never went back. They had flies, the top part of the topping bar was missing and the sun beats down on it - so the toppings were warm. They said that was why they stopping having melon... But OMG the can not be Safe food handling.

Red Mango is the most expensive, commercial frozen yogurt chain in the University District. The only reason this place is here is for the posh families to take their screaming kids. If you are an actual college student, head back up the hill to a frozen yogurt place on the ave. I came in here the other evening about an hour before closing time. I ordered a small original frozen yogurt with some Oreo knock-off (they say it is an organic version). This was the most expensive yogurt I have ever bought and they did not even fill the cup. They must weigh everything out because I got a sad little dollop in the middle of the cup, with some cookie crumbs around it. It tasted just fine, but it was a definite rip-off! To make the experience even better (sense my sarcasm), the place is run by grumps. The night I went, there were two people working and they were in the back arguing with each other. I don't know if they were college students or just teenagers who could not get any other job, but it was obvious that they hated working there. If you don't like it, then quit working there - don't take your crappy job out on the customers!

The good: Red Mango's frozen yogurts are tart, but a little sweet, which is perfect for when I need a yogurt fix but don't feel like channelling Jamie Lee Curtis with my daily dose of Activia. There is a good number of toppings to choose from, from fruit to granola to freakin' Fruity Pebbles, though I tend to stick to the fruit. The bad: I know this is U Village, so I probably shouldn't be too surprised...but still, am I really paying them $6 to squeeze some froyo into a cup and throw a couple of berries on top? This would probably deter me from going more than once every week or two. Also -- and again, this is mostly the fault of U Village, not the franchise -- if you are at all averse to children, this isn't the location for you. There are...a lot of children here. Large broods of crying babies and loud, uncontrollable children. If I didn't live two seconds away from the Village, I would probably go elsewhere so I wouldn't get some spoiled kid spitting up his yogurt all over my shoes.

Not sure if this is a new summer time thing or not, but they have these "boba" (bubbles?) toppings that are little balls of juice that explode in your mouth with the most amusing texture! That's what she said! No not really! At first I was going to go with my usual mango/strawberry/mochi combo but then I heard someone mentioned "mango boba" and sure enough, there was a tub of glistening giant-caviar-esque orange bubbles sitting next to the fruit. They had pink ones too, but I love mango everythings so I asked for a sample (which the nice girl cheerfully obliged despite the shop being crowded at the time). I was expecting a gooey half-hearted fruity version of the black bubble tea style boba, but surprise surprise, it's actually juice inside a thin squishy shell. Delightfully good mango flavor, and so much fun to bite into, you must try it at the very least. Oh, and mochi fans -- skip the mochi here. It's overly sweet and plastic-y tasting which wasn't very fun, but the mango bubbles more than made up for it so I'm not that disappointed. I'm not really a fan of the yogurt here, truth be told. It's a little too sweet and a little too watery. The best yogurt place is about 5-10 minutes west of U-Village so I wouldn't really seek out Red Mango, but next time I'm in the area I'd get those mango bubbles again. I'm just way too easily amused.

I love Red Mango, most especially their mixed berry parfait but the University District Red Mango fails at business. I will not purchase another frozen yogurt from this location again. I bought dessert twice here over the summer and wasn't charged on my card until 4-5 months later. I called the store thinking that there was some kind of mistake because there were two transactions on my card from one day, and I hadn't recalled making them. They said they were aware of the issue, their card merchant system hadn't properly charged their clients. If I wanted to double check the charges, I would have to call their company representative. They proceeded to provide a number (which was a Texas number, not toll free, not recognizable on the internets). I called the number and got a woman's voicemail. I left a message. My call was returned an hour later and the representative verified my charges that occurred on separate dates months prior hadn't been charged until that September day and apologized. Terrible. Terrible business. You couldn't even give me a coupon after that? You think it's okay to hold on to my card number and charge it months later without notifying me or apologizing in some loftier way? I have no confidence in your business model. In fact, my nose wrinkles in disdain as I walk by your building.

Not a fan. This place is tiny, and while it worked when it was Ben & Jerry's, the set-up that Red Mango's got makes the space seem super-duper cramped. There's also the fact that the staff is a little surly (UW students who don't want to be working?), the price is too high for what you get, and the bottom line--this stuff isn't even that great. I'm not a super-sweet desserts person, and I do like frozen yogurt. I just didn't like it here. I mean, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't enjoyable, either. I ate it because I paid for it, so I felt obligated to. It's not that $5 is a lot of money, it's just that I know lots of places where I can get something delicious for $5. All I got here for that amount was a feeling of dissatisfaction. I won't visit again.

  • Logan V.

Alright, alright, it's not as good as pinkberry. Truth be told, the only reason to stop by Red Mango is because you can't resist convenient froyo on a rare hot day in U-village. It is sweet, too sweet, and feels a little too much like ice cream. Original is probably the safest bet for froyo fans. Any other flavor is fine for fans of ice cream... you've got to accept that you're buying a close cousin to ice cream if you're going to enjoy Red Mango's cups. I can't recommend mango toppings: my mangoes were so sour and hard that they tasted like unripe peaches. What a disappointment. This is a place for hard-shopping soccer moms to placate whining children. For the rest of us, there's better to be had.

  • Chad Y.

This place always seems busy on a Friday or Saturday night after dinner! Cold or hot, the line always seems the same! I think they have one of the better frozen yogurts around. It has a great creamy texture and great flavor all around. They offer a great selection of toppings to fit your palate. The store is on the smaller side, so be prepared to eat in the cold (if it is) or take it for walk. There is plenty of parking nearby (unless its the holidays) so you can always make a quick dash for some good yogurt!

I'm not a froyo person, but I do love smoothies made from a tangy base of frozen yogurt. I've been here a number of times the past year and would just get their "blenders" with strawberry or some other fruit topping and they were decent. Their smoothies are definitely much better than the chalky taste of Jamba Juice in U-Village, albeit a tad pricer. My biggest problem is the staff here. They're all freaks. Sometimes I get the anti-social freaks and other times I get the raging menopause woman who is always throwing a fit about something minor (I believe she's the manager). Anyway, I can handle the anti-social freaks they employ--they mumble when they speak and fumble with my change and never look me in the eye, but they're not terrible to deal with. It's the menopause woman who's always screaming and freaking out about something inconsequential that one of the antisocial freaks did (didn't ring up the order right the first time, mumbled, etc.) that has made a few of my experiences here unsavory. I've decided to just stick to Citra if I need a froyo smoothie fix from now on.

The number of flavors have increased..which is good. But that's not the best thing...their shakes are. The tea ones, as well as their protein power smoothie. All of the proteiny deliciousness of yogurt, berries and granola...whipped and blended together to make a smooth drink. No protein powder here...just easy to digest, cool smoothie.

Red Mango is a decent frozen yogurt product in an awesome location at a major pedestrian intersection in the U-VIllage. By contrast, Menchie's Yogurt which has a better concept (self-serve) and more selection, is in a bad location a the U-Village, tucked away in a dark corner with no signage and it's always packed. Red Mango is also stingy on it's portions, I noticed this when I visited the Red Mango at Pacific Place downtown. They are in a basement and there, the "small" was as big as the U-Village "medium". I'm just sayin.....

    (3)
  • Alice R.

Mmm. I like the tangy sweet taste of the frozen yogurt at Red Mango and I'm glad there is now one conveniently located at the U-Village. There are a few drawbacks to this location though that I want to point out. First off, it's really small inside so and since I'm now one of the stroller set, forget wheeling your stroller into one of the seats. But seriously, with the gorgeous weather we've had lately, why would you want to sit inside anyway? But, still, you should know that going here. Second, I don't usually think about the price of small items like this, but this is a pricey little treat!

I am surprised the reviews of Red Mango are so mixed! Granted, sometimes, the service is not great, but please - it's a stand in a mall. I am not expecting 5-star restaurant quality attention. I always used to get the original flavor yogurt with chocolate chips, graham crackers, and coconut, but now that I am trying to eat healthier, I got one the other day with oranges and raspberries and though not as decadent, it was still amazing. I guess it's just one of those things you either love or hate - I love it. YUM.

One topping to top them all, MOCHI! Red Mango has MOCHI as a topping. So friggin' yum. So I decided to change it up a little and after the dogpark me and my friend went to U-village, usually I get Jamba Juice, but decided to try the Red Mango, I really like fro yo that tastes like yogurt, and all the delicious fruit toppings even better. I went in delighted to see that they had pomegranate as a fro yo flavor, then DUN DUN DUN!!!! Mochi as a topping!!! Needless to say I was in heaven, I had a pome fro yo with pineapple, mango, strawberry and my beloved mochi. Yum! The servers were really nice, and the lady who must have been either the owner or the manager was so taken by my dog that she got her a bowl of fro yo and sat on the pavement while petting her. I have a American Staffordshire Terrier and she usually gets lumped in with pitbulls, so it was nice to have someone really go out of their way to be nice. The whole experience was really tasty and I will defiantly be going back, did I mention they have mochi?!

I wanted ice cream and remembered that I had seen a place that looked like it served ice cream or frozen yogurt at U-village. So I went in search of Red Mango for lunch today. When I got there I was reading the menu and signs in the shop as I waited in line. Everything looked great, and the signs made me feel great about my choice by telling me that it was all natural, lowfat frozen yogurt with probiotics - but would it still taste good. There were 3 flavors to choose from: - Original - sweet & tangy - Pomegranate - the antioxidant superpower - Chocolate - rich dark chocolate I asked the girl what original meant and she told me it tasted like plain yogurt - not vanilla - like I was thinking. So I got a small Pomeganate without any toppings. It was surprisingly good, it was sweet but tangy like yogurt. The small was pretty big for a small. I was very pleasantly surprised with my first taste of Red Mango, and I look forward to going back and trying something else, maybe I will try a topping next time as well. The staff was friendly, it was clean and they were consistently busy for 2:30ish on a Thursday afternoon. I would say try it - you might like it!

Whoever that rants Red Mango is a rip-off of pinkberry: Get your facts straight. Red Mango first opened in Seoul in 2002. Ever since it opened it has become a crazy hit in South Korea. Now, Pinkberry opened in 2005 by Korean Americans in Cali. Did you know Pinkberry was sued in the same year because of their false advertisement as being "real yogurt"? They finally changed their recipe in 2008 to receive approval from National Yogurt Assosciation. So if you have liked the fake yogurty taste of Pinkberry, that's your sub-par taste buds, but don't bash when you don't know your stuff. Koreans just laugh whenever someone says Red Mango copied Pinkberry, since it's quite the opposite. And they have used REAL yogurt from the beginning, as far as I know.

Hey! It's my first mobile yelp! Just wanted to say that the service here sucks. Too the blonde bitch earning minimum wage - get off your high horse and take a pms pill. Don't throw napkins at customers and study hard at school because you suck at customer service and that attitude won't get you anywhere in life. I wanted to cuss you out but what can I say more insulting than your current status in life. Hope you enjoy the rest of your sweltering shift. I'm off to a awesome BBQ!

After a shocking experience at Red Mango that involved a singular employee, I immediately wrote corporate and told them what I observed. My concern was promptly addressed by a corporate representative, as well as a personal email by the owner of this particular location. I was assured that the staff will receive additional training to correct the transgression. (It was actually a big deal that needed to be prevented in the future.) So, Red Mango, thanks for getting back to me. The customer service is appreciated.

My favorite Red Mango store. They have at least 4-5 flavours at any given time. Today's flavours: Pomegranate, Irish Cream, Milk Chocolate, Cinnamon, Vanilla Bean and of course, Regular. (Feel free to ask for samples!) I always go with sliced almond, mochi, graham cracker and (fruits). Oh! The staff there are always friendly... Even when helping indecisive customers :) and remind you to use the loyalty card so you could earn mooorreeee points.

I love this stuff! Fresh and light (at least compared to Baskin Robbins) and super tasty. The frozen yogurt is the real deal that's not all sugared up and covered in a thousand calories of corn syrup based sauces. All the toppings are things like fresh fruit, real nuts (without sugar coating) and other goodies. Although if you want some chocolate chips or sauce, they have that for you too. If you think Go-Gurts are a healthy snack for your kids, or diet soda is a staple: Red Mango is not for you.

  • Hyong Y.

I like the pure vanilla flavor at Red Mango with strawberries and chocolate chips. The red mango at U-village is better because they have unlimited toppings whereas the one at Alderwood mall limits you to 2 toppings for the same price. I just recently had yogurtland yogurt in San Diego and they have more variety of yogurt flavors there, so Red Mango is my second favorite frozen yogurt place now.

Overpriced and way too tart. I rather go to the grocery store and get a pint of ice cream for the same price or less. Or Yogurtland.

One word: Eeeeeeew! I'm not actually very picky when it comes to food. I just got back from a 10-day jaunt in South Korea, and I ate all kinds of things I never thought of eating before, and I loved most of it. But this place.... uh, yuk. I had the Green Tea, and it was ok enough to eat about 3/4 of the dish. Tasted ok, but was overpowering. I should have gotten the small. TIP: If you want to try it, get the small. Don't pay the $5 for the medium. My wife got the plain with raspberries, and it was so awful we ate the raspberries and threw out the yogurt. And to prove it wasn't just us, our two other friends who ordered threw theirs out as well. As one person in our group put it, "it tastes like the milk went sour, or there was really old yogurt in the line". Now, I'm not usually a soft-serv or froyo lover by nature, which stems from a story another friend of mine told me about when she managed a TCBY in college. She told me they almost never cleaned out the machines. I was totally grossed out then and have pretty well stayed away from froyo. I should have read the reviews before agreeing to go, but we were having so much fun from happy hour I just went along with it. Biggest danger sign: College students working the place. Not to say all college students are bad at running stores, and not to over-generalize that college students don't clean, but my friend who worked TCBY has set the tone for me. And the plain tasted like it had been there since I graduated college. A looooooong time ago. Years. Nasty. Be forewarned!

Recession, what recession? I have seen a line up of coach toting ugg wearing iphone yielding tweens slapping down ten bucks for a smoothie and getting a wee bit of change. I love the green tea flavor, but it should be pure. Gummy bears and oreos should not sully its antiseptic colored smoothness. Surly service, but I'm hard to please.

Amazing fro-yo and toppings. My fav is original with mochi and strawberry. The portions are HUGE, so a small is plenty. A medium is big enough to share for sure. The only draw back is the seating in this place. In the winter it's next to impossible to be comfortable. There's just one bench with small tables and the door is open most of the time which means you FREEZE. In the colder months we always get it to go. In the summer is wonderful since they have outdoor seating.

If I could eat this every night I would. OMG so good - and relatively good for you. Get the vanilla with strawberries!

Yes, it is a pretty trendy looking place. Yes, I feel like I should bust out my robot dancing with the decor and the music, BUT their yogurt is pretty dang good. My lady and I got a medium size and shared it. Medium size was HUGE. If we had that much ice cream, I would have felt sick. But, with Red Mango yogurt we were literally licking the bottom of the bowl. The amazing thing is that it is a surprisingly refreshing dessert. I think a lot of people walk into this place expecting a sweet treat like ice cream but it is definitely not that. You definitely have to eat outside the box to be able to enjoy this dessert. It kinda breaks the usual American over the top: sweet, rich, creamy dessert, "let see how we can top this" mentality. It is simple, refreshing, light and delicious desert. You remember with their yogurt that a desert doesn't have to be super rich and over the top to be good. Simplicity and refreshing can be almost more satisfying sometimes. I had no idea this place was a chain until I decided to yelp it. Other than the super mod decor and ambiance, I enjoyed what they got. My school of thought is if it taste good who cares.

I don't get it. My loinfruit insisted we have dessert not in the nice warm restaurant that conveniently serves strong and delicious margs but at Red Mango. Two flavors of way overpriced yogurt with a spoon or two of skimpy yet also overpriced toppings. How is this great? Minus a star for not being Ben & Jerry's.

I went with my little brother to introduce him to the world of frozen yogurt, and received the rudest and most disrespectful service I've experienced. I will NEVER be back to this Red Mango or any other in the chain on account of the employee (male) blonde/brown hair with severe facial features, that was unforgivably rude. Also, the mochi & strawberry combo I ended up ordering was very disappointing.

A very different frozen yogurt place. There is a lot of good going on here but plenty of bad too. The good part is that it's new and definitely trendy. They have tons of toppings to choose from. Lots of sugar cereals too! And they can make up a shake or dish easily. And the staff was nice enough. The bad is that they only have two choices or yogurt. Vanilla or green tea. There is very limited room to sit inside and as others said, good luck with that stroller. And worst of all is the taste. It's not the frozen yogurt you would expect at TCBY. To be honest, it's just plain yogurt with an extra tarty taste. It seemed like something a health nut would love. But I was really thrown off by the taste. Just not my cup of tea. I'd rather hit Fran's.

Yuck - how come no one talks about the gross flavor the plain frozen yogurt has??? I don't like this place and they give you hardly any topping!

Yum! Red Mango has the best frozen yogurt around! The texture is very smooth and creamy yet it is completely fat free so I can indulge. Their new Pomegranate flavor is out of this world as well. One downside about this location is how small the store is. There really isn't enough space to sit inside the shop so one just has to grab some yogurt and go.

i luh-huve it. well, not as much as pinkberry... ...but since we don't have those up here (yet!! ...i'm keeping my fingers crossed.) this will have to be my #1. after working in retail for over 10 years, i've turned into some what of an online shopping hermit. but whenever i hit up southcenter or pacific place, i get a cup. my favorite is an original with raspberries, mochi, and dark chocolate chips. YUMMM. i recently tried solely blackberries... it was good, too, because they were ripe and delicious, but didn't have as much of the taste variety as my favorite 3-punch combo. yeah, yeah, it's a little pricey, but i figure it's worth it---- it tastes good and doesn't make me feel like a bloated piece of crap. the only negative is the kids behind the counter. ummm hello, do they pay you to bitchy?? however, i will trudge along and not be deterred!!

Is it ok if I like it just because I think it's F'in delicious? I promise I'm not trying to be trendy...I just think it tastes grrreat.

I'm wondering what Red Mango HQ would think about the KUBE 93 blasting through the store, even when there are guests. I don't mind it myself but it's a bit strange - I don't know how mangomonium or whatever it's called goes with T-Pain. I've seen some staff come and go, the current folks are quick (even if they don't listen well and aren't all that careful). But the yogurt comes from a machine, and the machine spits out consistently good yogurt, and while it would be nice if they had all of their toppings, rather than the random few they're always out of. But hey, we still go a lot, so what do I know.

So I've been curious about this whole tangy frozen yogurt thing ever since I read an article in the NYtimes about the fierce competition and legal battles of pinkberry and it's competitors in LA. And while I often opt for lowfat ice cream, frozen yogurt, or sorbet from my favorite super premium brands, unless I am dragged there by one of my diet obsessed sorority-type college girlfriends, I stear clear of froyo only shops. It was cool when I was 9, but it's time has passed. Or so I thought. Red Mango, according to that NYtimes article, and their own website, actually started this new froyo trend in korea way back in 2002! And, after trying it for myself, I'm totally converted. It's definately sweeter than the real plain yogurt you'd eat with granola in the morning - but it has that distinct yogurt tang that balances the sweetness and complements the fruity toppings. It was freakin delicious! And apparently nonfat - I overheard someone's mom reading that fact off a little brochure and didn't believe it until I went home and checked their webiste for myself. My only complaint is that they have about 2/3 of the actuall topping options on the written menu, so you have to be in the know, or excuse yourself from line to go and check out the case before ordering.

So yummy! AND great customer service! My husband and I went to the one in Bellvue at the mall, and they didn't have smoothies! So we drove to this one, and I had a banana berry smoothie! Delicious!

Don't go here if you're looking for a sweet, creamy, chocolate-and-peanut butter kinda dessert. But if you like the sound of tangy frozen yogurt without the guilt (with or without sweet toppings), then you've found the right place. I loved my small helping of pomegranate & plain yogurt with blueberries - the small is actually pretty generous, and they will swirl any two flavors you want. It wasn't cheap, at $4 after tax for the smallest portion, but it is a tasty little fat-free snack that doesn't trigger the guilt associated with a giant cup of decadent ice cream.

Red mango was pretty awesome, They have unlimited toppings for just a $1.00. I tried their original with mochi, strawberrys and mango. The thing I like about them is the yougurt is amazing and the fruit is as fresh as if they chopped them that morning.

  • Kevin P.

Ok, I don't know why this place is rated 4 stars by some people... because it just ISN'T GOOD. The first time I came here, they were out of half of their toppings! Yes, even mangos. What the hell? The place is pricey for the amount of yogurt you get, and the plain yogurt just tastes weird. It gives a bad aftertaste for some reason. I noticed that it now carries "Pomegranate", which is hopefully pretty good. (I only say that because I've had POM yogurt in California and it was tasty). There are tons of better options for yogurt in the U-District that stay open even later. Don't waste your time here! Head over to the Ave for some better fro-yo.

    (2)
  • Maddie F.

For $3.25 for a small with no toppings I would have hoped it was about to be damn good frozen yogurt or that they'd actually fill the dish instead of filling it halfway and trying to cover up the lack of fro-yo with a swirly top ...

  • Stephanie B.

I like the simplicity of Red Mango - four flavors done right! The yogurt is delicious and you feel good about putting in your body (fat free and live, active cultures). BUT it is expensive. I would frequent it more if the servings were bigger for the price or if the price was lower. Also, I witnessed an unprofessional staff member one night who was being rude to customers and her colleague. Bottom line: Expect a tasty treat, at a higher cost (and maybe some attitude).

Allright people, it's fro yo, got it? It's not gonna taste like Haagen Daas as one friend recently pointed out to me as I winced with my first bite of Red Mango. The thing is, the more I eats it, the more I likes it. I can't help it. I keep going back. First of all, it's healthy. I mean, the stuff is actually good for me. Are you with me!? I can take my kids there right before dinner and not have a guilt attack. And A for effort for all the creative toppings. And the parfaits. Those are pretty nice. I have never had bad service here. Always cute little collegy girls smiling at me and giving my lil' boys samples. Last week was perdy darned hot around here, and I found myself down at this place shoving fro yo in my mouth faster then you could say piggy. It was light, refreshing, and exactly what I needed to cool off. Give fro yo a chance.

Great Frozen yogurt, It's "fresh" and good for you...Only bad thing is that there aren't too many locations...Lots of different flavors of yogurt. Will be going again if i'm in the area...

This was a great sweet treat to end our night (after the shops were closed but we still felt like strolling). I sure don't hate having fresh strawberries and blueberries (okay... and some dark chocolate and coconut too!!) atop my fro yo!

I am so in love with real frozen yogurt! I like the straight up original w/ mango. I'm sure there are better places to get it but we happened to be at u-village and I was 100% happy with the product.

I guess I'm either not trendy enough, or I have simple tastes... regardless, this place was very disappointing. You get two flavor choices... plain or green tea and then they offer a few other choices of toppings that range from cereal to a few fruits. They give you a huge load of yogurt and a very small portion of toppings. The yogurt tastes like old sour milk and made me and my girl friend a little uneasy after eating it. (bring your 'Tums' along) It reminds me of those restaurants in the 80's who were trying to be too trendy; charging a lot for a small artistically sliced fig leaf with a drop of sauce smeared around the rim of the plate. It didn't last, and neither will this place. They are trying way to hard. I want Ben and Jerry's back.

I've quite enjoyed the froyo craze. Not only does it taste delicious, but it's nice that it's got half the calories of ice cream. Red Mango is a great starter froyo, as it's not too tart and offers a lot of toppings. I always go with fresh fruit, and love that it's all fresh here. I've been to a couple places that use canned pineapple and other gross shiz. The green tea flavor here isn't too great, but the original is good stuff. The service pretty much sucks since they're all UW student employees. The inside is clean and sleek and offers outdoor seating. It seems a lot smaller inside than when it was Ben and Jerry's. My only beef with it is the price. I know it doesn't cost anywhere near $5 to make a small cup with two toppings. I hate Starbucks and Cold Stone for starting the "higher prices for higher 'quality' products" trend. That high price point is what's closing down so many of their stores. Also, I like how people think it's healthier because it's got less calories, but froyo has more chemicals and additives than most ice creams, just an FYI. But I mean, what doesn't these days? If I'm in the mood to spend $5 on a sweet treat (which isn't too often) I'd rather get some Red Mango over a frappuccino or Cold Stone "concoction" any day.

  • Amie S.

Red Mango now has Pomegranate flavor, and I hereby declare it to be pomegran-tastic! I am less jazzed about the actual pomegranate seeds, though. I had an original with the pom seeds and it seemed like a perfect refreshing treat to play into my delusions of frozen yogurt as health food. The seeds were a little past their prime, though, so it was sort of more like tiny capsules of red wine. Perhaps great with stinky cheese, not so much with the fro-yo. I shall take that as a lesson and stick with the fake-pom flavor from now on.

The fact that they combine yogurt-flavored (read: tart) frozen yogurt with fresh fruit and other ingredients is awesome. Also very appreciated is the fact that all the nutritional info for your specific order is printed on your receipt. Yay! The strawberries here were amazingly fresh, and the two gals working the shop couldn't have been more friendly. The prices are reasonable (between 4 and 5 bucks for a small with three toppings). I have yet to try the green tea or pomegranate flavors, but I will definitely come back to check those out!

I know fro yo. I know it well. This was not fro yo. The oompa loompa (orange) that served it to me was less jolly than the ones I remember from the movie, and I never found them particularly happy. Oh, and did I mention...this was like eating curdled semi-chocolate swill. Fail Red Mango! For the love of god avoid the original flavor!

  • L T.

I've really enjoyed the couple of trips I've made to Red Mango. I've tried their pomegranate and green tea flavors, both of which are delicious, but I have a preference for the green tea. I like to order it with raspberries and mochi for a healthier option over ice cream. I'd take this place over Mooberry in Ballard, absolutely. My only complaint (there always has to be one, doesn't there?) is that they are a little stingy with their toppings. For the price they charge, you'd hope they could be a little more generous.

Love this place. I love the yogurt blenders with strawberries and granola!

I didn't understand the crop of frozen yogurt places popping up all over Seattle. It just felt sort of yuppy... I mean, "froyo" for short? But curiosity got the best of me, and my siblings and I came here after a filling dinner seeking a light, sweet treat to finish off. And that's exactly what we got. It's nice and tangy, and has the consistency of soft serve ice cream. I got the original yogurt with strawberries and dark chocolate, and they were pretty liberal with the chocolate. I could have used a few more strawberries, but it was still about right. The "froyo" thing still gets me, but the inevitable cravings will help me overcome that.

    (4)
  • Loe B.

I like the idea...but something about it just doesn't quite hit the spot. The original is actually a little to sweet for my taste...I love how plain yogurt tastes a little sour...and their plain yogurt tastes more like vanilla yogurt. the green tea yogurt was a little better. Adding toppings, the fro yo can get expensive. The fruit toppings were good and not goopey syrupy....but I would've liked a little more on my fro yo. I will probably never go back.

I was sad to see Ben & Jerry's go but thought that Red Mango must be good to take its place. And my son and I were hot so we thought we'd get something cold. So I ordered a small, plain, no topping soft serve - it was almost $4 for like 2 tablespoons of plain soft serve frozen yogurt! REALLY!? Never going back again ...

  • Kiho S.

I haven't tried this place, but wanted to rep for k-town, so we tried it. The yogurt tasted more like sorbet. Too sweet for my taste. Portion was a little small. I got a small bowl with strawberries and choco-pebbles. Hell yeah. It was $5+. I'll stick with Utopia at Uwajimaya, thank you.

It honestly doesn't seem like we're in a recession every time I pass by this place. Doesn't matter when it is, whether or not it's raining or not, there is usually people in line... I always get a Medium Green Tea Yogurt with 2 toppings, blackberry and mochi. It's like clock work. I love this place and I wish I could come here every day. Unfortunately that order costs almost 7$. And we are in a recession. I enjoy this place a lot and usually give in to temptation... luckily this place is 'healthy'.

  • Lisa W.

I can certainly understand how frozen yogurt places aren't for everyone. It's not like the typical ice cream from a Baskin Robbins or Ben & Jerry's. It's fat-free for one thing...I know a lot of people who would be turned off by that first and foremost. I have been a fan of frozen yogurt for as long as I knew it existed and was always frustrated at the lack of frozen yogurt places in the Pacific Northwest as opposed to...southern California. I suppose it makes sense climate-wise. But I had my first Red Mango experience this past weekend and it was everything I expected...though I've never had a frozen yogurt (especially soft serve frozen yogurt) that I didn't like, so it was pretty much a sure thing for me. No toppings needed for me...I like my vanilla frozen yogurt straight up, please.

  • Kandice K.

I'm a fan of Pinkberry in LA, so when the knock offs started popping up here in Seattle, I was pretty excited. But none of them were very good. Then Red Mango hit the scene strong and hard. Their yogurt is tart and fresh, and their fruit toppings are plump and juicy. And those chocolate drops.....

  • Lisa N.

Okay, WHAT happened here? The past two times that I've visited this particular Red Mango, my yogurt and toppings were disappointing. The most recent time was two days ago, during which time I noticed flies in the mandarin oranges and unidentifiable orange mush labeled as mango. I used to WORK at Red Mango and that shit did NOT fly, so I don't know what's wrong with management at the U Village location, but they need to change it. The yogurt tasted old and BELIEVE ME, I know what old Red Mango tastes AND smells like. It was powdery and had a weird after taste and I ended up just throwing it away after salvaging what decent fruit was on it-- basically just raspberries and strawberries, which you really can't mess up (except for the fact that I'm pretty sure the raspberries were unwashed and had little dried leaves in them). I also got mochi, which I used to be completely addicted to, and it was definitely funky. The little pieces were all stuck together and chunky and left a gross feeling in my mouth. Take your business to Bellevue or Pacific Place, where they actually serve you fresh fruit and yogurt.

  • Joshua P.

the yogurt is great but why are they so stingy with the toppings and actually filling up the cup? they yogurt had a huge empty hole in the middle and they put the very bare minimum of toppings that they could. a little overpriced but tastes great

    (3)
  • Brock J.

Good but over-priced. Sadly Seattle is lacking in froyo options (coming from the San Fran area), and this may be one of the best (still looking!). The flavor is good, but a little too creamy and not quite tart enough. The prices are highway robbery for the portions (I've had better for cheaper), especially if you add toppings.

  • three's company M.

love this place! my husband and i were so excited they had one in the univ. village while visiting seattle! it was perfect.........we crave it all the time and even on vacation we need our fix. red mango has to be the best "tart" yogurt out there...it's not overly tart...super creamy and they give you a good amount. it's expensive. it's probably not your everyday snack or dessert due to the price, but it is so worth it. this location was great! the yogurt tasted amazing!!! we will definitely be back if we're in the area.

  • Jenn L.

Yes! This is close enough that I can stroll over from work on my lunch break. I'm a huge yogurt fan and I'm so happy to finally have frozen yogurt that TASTES LIKE YOGURT. My favorite combinations are green tea with mango and plain with raspberries. I tried a smoothie the other day and was very pleased. The staff is consistently pleasant.
