Our daughters (ages 6 & 8) love coming here - it's a great way to break up the monotony of overcast days and get out some energy, and it's a comfortable place to wait as a parent. There's a nice variety of things for them to do, the video-game-like items are fun without being too screen-y, and they always come out happy and not too dirty. The problem I have is a combination of the food and the staff. First, the food is just terrible: everything I've ordered has come out as a really low quality version of that item (even noting that I'm at a play place, not a fancy joint). The mediterranean wrap is a piece of pita bread with a bit of hummus plopped in the middle and a couple of sad tomatoes; the salads are similarly appointed; the pizzas are below Little Caesar's in quality, which is to say, cardboard with canned tomato sauce. I don't know if they just don't have enough staff or if they can't keep track of things, but I've waited 10 minutes to get someone to take my money, and have been sent back and forth between an unmanned and a not-working cash register. On a recent visit, I ordered four food items and all four were wrong or forgotten - and in one case, I ordered a drink, they took my money, never got back to me, and after 20 minutes when I went back, they said that they were out of the key ingredient and shouldn't have taken the order - but didn't come find me in the first place or offer to refund my money until I asked. I've had similar experiences several times. The kids still enjoy it, so we'll keep going, but for now on, eat ahead of time.

Expect controlled fun and chaos. All the structures are sturdy enough for adults to use them, and boy they did. The openings, tunnels, etc were fairly large so kids won't have to push by other kids. The facility is a large industrial sized room. Cafeteria style seating. The food was good. The party rooms were simple, but serviceable. There was enough staff around to manage the flow of traffic. I would definitely recommend it.

This place is a madhouse on weekends. It's a pretty cool play space for kids to burn off some energy, but I wouldn't call it a go-to spot for my family. My kids are fairly mellow--they like to run and climb and jump, but they aren't spastic, loud, or aggressive. This is definitely a place for high-energy kids who can shove and be shoved. Not great for the under 3 set, but I would recommend it for older kids, especially off hours. There's something totally frenetic about this place and if your kids aren't into that type of play/energy, it can be overwhelming. Didn't try the food, so can't comment there... All in all, a fun way to spend the day, assuming you know what you're in for. I would note that part of the problem I had with this place was the ease with which parents let their kids run wild. I don't have any problem with that in the big kid area, but the toddler area really should require some parental supervision. There were a few kids way older than 3 in there hitting, pushing, shoving, and hoarding. Not such a big deal with the older kiddos, but with babies and young toddlers, parents really should put down the beer/iphone, etc. and try their hands at actually parenting their children.

Wow! What a fun place for kids to play. Went to a birthday party at Playdate SEA for the first time today with my 5 year old son. He had a blast in every area of the play stucture. The EyePlay projector area was a big hit. I was very glad to see the employee that catered to our party was very helpful with allowing me to incorporate a Gluten free option since we live a GF lifestyle. The downside is the quality of food, very disappointing. Not worth the price i paid for my son's GF pizza, tasted like cardboard. Really, really bad. My friend ordered the fried green beans and they were super soggy. I hope they fix their menu, i would totally go back becuase my kid loves the play area. If they are not going to allow allow outside food and charge such high prices for their food, they had better make sure it tastes good.

I love PlayDate SEA for rainy day fun but was totally disappointed when having a party there. Their venue is awesome and the children had a great time. Preparing for the party and working with their coordinator was awful. I called a week in advance to prepare the food order and was told to come in as they do not have their catering menu online. I came in and their party coordinator was very curt and unfriendly (completely opposite from the person I spoke with on the phone.) She couldn't provide me the menu ("I already emailed it to you!") and was out right rude when I asked her about siblings. Some of the siblings were 1-2yrs old and I was curious if they had to pay the party fee which was considerably more than the $5 overall entrance fee. She said if I wanted them in the party room with the kids and parents yes... or else they could sit at tables outside the room. One and two year olds?!?!? This seemed completely absurd to me. I asked her if she could put me in contact with someone who could help me (and maybe provide me a menu so I could place my party order) and she said no. And no- she would not give out the owner's info either. Very frustrating. I called their Portland shop and they were helpful, gave me info for someone who would take my order, etc. During the party all of the staff was friendly. The person who helped take my food order earlier in the week apologized and gave us a players card for our trouble. I told her we weren't looking for a discount, we just wanted them to know how inconsistent their party service is compared to what we are use to. As for food...The grownup platters (packaged crackers and pre-sliced processed cheese and what looked to be canned fruit for $30) were not what I was expecting and were not eaten. If you do decide to have a party stick to the pizza. Also, they make you feel very rushed. They start packing up your things and moving you out well before your time is up in the room. At the 15 minute warning they will start moving you out of the room even if you are in the middle of singing happy birthday. It took away from us enjoying the moment. It would be better If they would kindly remind the parents that there is a charge for additional time and ask if they would like more time. We added an additional 1/2 hour (I think they charge and hour) because people were in the room 20 past the party time. Overall, I would not have a party here again. Despite all of the fun the kids did have, it wasn't worth the $500+ tab for our group. I will save this place for rainy days with the kids.

Poor experience. I ordered a smoothie for each of my two kids and waited around for about 20 minutes (First time I ordered a smoothie it was about 10 minutes of waiting). When I finally went back to ask how long I should expect to wait, they told me they couldn't make the smoothies. Did they intend to tell me at some point, or was I expected to get angry and go complain first? Seems like an odd business model: to take their money then ignore the customer. My kids could have been playing, but instead we were waiting for an order they had no ability to deliver and apparently no intention of telling me so. Blood was boiling; don't know if I'm going back (if I do, certainly won't get anything from the "cafe" part).

This place is awesome!! My son (6) and I came here to check out the scene and escape Friday traffic. We ordered a cheese pizza with mushrooms (wish there were more) and it was delicious!! My son really loved the ball launcher and met some really nice kids. The employees were a little frazzled but it was pretty busy. Bonus Friday night puppet show too!! We will definitely be back!!

Perfect spot for toddlers, infants and parents. There is a full service cafe (with wine and beer) and a full menu of tasty treats for both adults and kids alike. A 3000 sq foot cafe with seating including a comfy sofa several tv's and free wifi. (Although its a little spotty today cause there are so many people here.) 4 floors of crawling, running and sliding all in an enclosed single entrance/exit space. Its even big enough to accomodate parents if you care to join your kids in the fun, which I'd recommend. Everything is totally sturdy (steel beams wrapped up in foam padding) so kids and parents can play without fear of much injury minus some rug burns. Tons to exlore, my fave is the ball pit with the two opposing turrets that allow you to launch balls at each another with gusto. Reminds me of snowball fights as a kid minus the snow. But you need to note that there is no one but you to observe your kids. You sign a waiver (expected, of course) but for the most part this place is pretty awesome. Personally I'm thinking I'd come back to Seattle just for this if I could justify the cost of the trip.

First off the parking is horrible. It takes ages to find a good spot. Secondly they don't allow outside food and drink in. Which is ridiculous because their food is decent, but over priced and always takes way too long to get. On average it takes 30 minutes but one time we waited for an hour. Especially with the world's pickiest eater at our side, it's a waste of money since he doesn't eat anything they serve except crackers and occasionally a bite or two pizza. The structure itself is awesome, the kids love it and we love that it's indoor. They're play structure is well priced and that's what keeps us coming back.

This is exactly what Seattle needs! I took my daughter here on their grand opening to check it out and it was packed! I wasn't sure what age range this would be best for, but there is a smaller toddler area for those under 3, and a range of ages in the main play area. I saw many "older kids" around 8 or 10 having a great time. I was even tempted to climb around myself, except I forgot socks and it was quite warm inside, so I hung out right outside. I do wish there were a better way to see where your child is and what they are up to as there really isn't staff inside to supervise. Once my daughter went inside, she "disappeared" for the next 15 minutes and I was only able to catch glimpses of her as she ran by to make sure she was doing okay. I was pleasantly surprised by how big their cafe area is with plenty of tables and chairs. There are even flat screen TVs by the front for sports and other shows. I wish there were more sofas or benches right by the play area instead of tables as I didn't feel like taking up a cafe table since I didn't order any food. I checked out the menu, and was pleased by the options (both healthier and appealing to kids and adults) with reasonable prices. There were enough "meal" options, and not just snacks. There were two party rooms inside for birthday parties and other events. I don't recall if there was a sink inside the party rooms, but that would be handy for handwashing rather than sending groups of kids across the room to the restrooms. Parking is street parking for now, and plenty available in the surrounding blocks, although there is so much ongoing construction in this area, I don't think street parking will be easy to find when that is finished, and the traffic may be worse. Overall, a great concept. Similar to McDonald's Playland on steroids with much better food. The playspace also reminds me of the one at Family Fun Center in Tukwila. This is also an updated concept similar to the bouncy house places, but with the cafe and space for parents. I'm glad they decided to put this near downtown Seattle rather than the Eastside, although I suspect this will be very popular and I could imagine an equally great place like this in Bellevue someday.

PlayDate SEA has a humongous play structure with multiple levels. This obstacle course is tons of fun, allowing kiddos to explore and use big motor movements going up ramps, navigating through obstacles, and going down the thrilling slides. These slides are no joke -- they're incredibly fast and very fun for kids and adults alike. There is a small toddler room, geared at three y.o. and younger, with a calmer atmosphere. Small slide, lots of stackable blocks, fun wheelymabobs on the wall. Parking isn't great but it is very centrally located! The staff have been consistently kind and prompt to attend to restrooms and cleaning the play structures. The 9 am - 8 pm hours (as of 7/5/13) allow for early risers and kiddos that stay up later. They charge by the child, based on age, not by the hour. Given the quality for this open play, I think the pricing is very reasonable. Parents can order coffee, wine/beer, pizza, and more. They don't allow in outside food, which makes sense to me because they pay the bills operating as a play area and a cafe. While some might find this inconvenient, I think the huge seating area and free wifi are excellent options for parents. The playstructure is large and parents will need a certain amount of physical ability in order to accompany smaller kids through the structure. (Not to mention, appropriate clothes.) So come with the right mindset! I had a great time exploring and it will be a huge benefit on rainy days. The AC is a benefit for any sweltering summer days.

This is a much needed indoor play area for kids in the SLU area. As far as I can tell (based on my 6 1/2 years of parenting), it is also the largest in Seattle so far. This is not an arcade or pizza place, it has a maze of climbing structures & slides, as well as a ball room, pretty much perfect for busy bodies age 3-8. There is also a small toddler room, for kids under 3 with soft seating, blocks, wall toys & a few smaller slides. In addition to the play areas, there is a large open area with tables/chairs & a cafe to order food. Prices are reasonable & the food is decent. So far the space is clean & seems well run, I'm a skeptic however as I've seen every other local place close after a year or less. It's been moderately busy the few times I've been there, more so on the weekends. I'm sure as winter comes & the weather turns it'll be busier. A few tips: no outside food allowed & buy a punch card to save a few bucks if you think you'll visit regularly.

Loved the concept but a few flaws, particularly if you have younger children. I went with my 3 and 1.5 year old. Luckily, I had my nanny with me otherwise it would been a nightmare to keep an eye out on both my kids. Pros: - Fun space, especially the ball cannon area. My 3 year didn't want to leave this area. - Great menu selection - Attentive staff. I actually saw one person walking around wiping the play structures. - Clean! Cons: - The toddler area is dark and kinda of blah. Most kids won't stay in there for long. - The layout, with the play structure on the back wall, makes it hard to keep an eye on your kids. Not a problem if you only have 1 kid or if your kids are a bit older but I have 2 young toddlers who kind of need watching out for and this makes it difficult. - Floor is slippery. It's a concrete floor. Socks are required at all times which makes it more slippery. I almost slipped and I saw at least 2 kids slip on the floor. - Parking. It's a pain and there is currently construction all around it so a lot of the street parking is closed off. This should improve over time... Maybe. Overall, great idea and definitely something that Seattle needs. Admission pricing is more than fair but a few items on the menu was pricey (I.e $22 pizza).

Great place for the kids to play. Not very busy weekday nights. Food is about high $30 for 2 kids and one adult meal but the kids were happy. Weekends can be very busy. Kids still love the lace. We have a one year old and a almost four year old. Staff is friendly.

I'm a little hesitant about the location - but I'm excited to see PlayDate PDX expand up here, it's something we don't have at all! The general concept is a kid-focused space that provides quality food and beverage for parents, as well. If you've been to most kid-focused spaces, you know that the food offerings are sub-par and far from healthy. These guys attempt to fix that. PlayDate PDX doesn't have any of that terrible coffee that frequently features in places where parents are supposed to be grabbing a cup while the kids play. The pricing on entry is incredibly reasonable, it's comparable to what you'd pay for a hour of playtime during SGA's open gym time or Sandbox Sport's sandbox time. I'm ready to see what these guys can do up here - and then if they'll expand again out to Tacoma.

Please fire your rude, trying, hipster employees and whoever your new "manager" is who was working 12/21/14. I want to love this place so bad because the whole concept of it is spot on. However, the employees behind the counter are pretentious, Capitol HIll hipsters who are beyond rude and snobby and don't even seem to care for children of any age at all. If it is bothersome to help people and be cordial doing so than customer service is NOT the job for you. I've been here about 10 times in the last year and each time I say it will be my last. I keep trying to give it another chance hoping they will change staff but I can't stand how RUDE the employees are. And FYI, the newest thing is if you come in within an hour and a half of closing, they will not serve you a glass of wine and instead will explain to you how liquor affects your body. Seriously, make the trip to Elevated Sports. Really great staff who deserve your money and actually like adults and children.

I took my 2 and 4 year old for first time today. Upon entry I was impressed..friendly staff..clean play area..A bit pricey.. We hit the slides and then this cool nerf ball room where u can shoot the balls out of these guns. And then like 3 large groups of kids came in from what looked like summer camp or day care. I'm 5'1 and most of these kids either towered over me or were my size. Then all hell broke loose with like 40 kids screaming, running..pushing..I was scared for my kids! That nerf room I was talking about..forget about it. It was crazy! MOTHER'S WITH SMALLER KIDS! Make sure u call ahead of time and check to see if the place is scheduled for larger groups!

Kids had a blast!!!! A few 7 year olds and an almost 4 year old didn't tire out for about 3 hours. The staff was super friendly and the place is clean, safe and fun. I climbed around with the kids for most of the time and had fun too. The ball area was a little chaotic with kids shooting balls at each other. The balls are not super soft, so if you get hit by one (like my little one did), it's going to sting. There's a lot of construction going on around the area, so we parked at REI. Best deal in town, $2 for 3 hours of parking!!!! My kids are begging to go back again soon. It was pretty quiet when we went (weekday at 10am), but I"m guessing during peak hours it will be pretty crazy in there.

Parking is nonexistent. The staff suggests you park in the REI building, which is 4 block away... I wonder how REI feels about that. We were invited to a birthday party and were told to wait outside for 15 minutes before we were allowed in. We were furious, because it was raining heavily at the time and the wind was blowing the rain sideways. There were several open tables, so there was space for us inside. The "bouncer" who kept us out wasn't even apologetic or polite. First impressions matter, and my first impression is that this place is a nightmare.

First time visiting and my 8 yo played hard for three straight hours, only to take two breaks for hunger and thirst. I sat sipping a mocha, working on my laptop (free wifi), listening to fun music (didn't notice mentioned tv's) only needing to get up and check on him a few times. It wasn't that crowded on a Thursday afternoon and didn't feel at all worried about safety. The food was decent, but would probably plan timing better next time to not have to eat a full meal. We stayed for dinner, then headed home. If you have a toddler or child under 5, be prepared to head in the structure with them. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting a young one in solo, especially if it was any busier than it was this evening. I don't foresee us ever going on a weekend where it would be presumably way too busy and chaotic. We will go back, it's a great rainy afternoon place to burn off excess energy!!

We really like Playdate. I'm honestly confounded by some of the negative reviews on here about this facility. "The nerf guns teach our kids violence is okay"...seriously? You're upset your kid got hit with a flying bouncy ball? You know what, if you're intent on raising your child to be a crying, whiny, delicate little flower then just keep them at home. Don't ruin other peoples' fun time with your incessant and over-bearing babying of your fragile little angel. Kids play, and sometimes running around, throwing bouncy balls at each other, or shooting (god forbid) foam balls at each other is fun. Actually, I take that back - that's always fun. If you can't cope with it you shouldn't be there. Any honestly, I really feel sorry for your child because they will grow up to be one of those mentally fragile people who crack at the first hint of real life. We've taken our now two year-old son there at lest twice a month since he was 18 months old. Has he gotten knocked over? Yes. Has he gotten popped in the forehead with a foam ball shot out of a air cannon? Yes. Has he been scared of the craziness and excitement and the see-through cargo nets you climb across 10 feet off the ground? Sure. But does that stop him, or us, from having a great time and returning to Playdate a few times a month? Definitely not! And more importantly, all of these things HELP YOUR CHILD GROW AND BECOME A WELL-ADJUSTED INDIVIDUAL. Adversity is a part of life. If you're the type of parent who just sits on your ass out in the restaurant and wastes life away on Facebook (we see this regularly), or if you are the type who hovers over your child and attempts to shield them from any interaction, please do us parents who care and understand child development a favor and don't come to Playdate. However, if you you're the kind of parent who will participate in a foam ball war, or climb through tunnels and dance on lighted disco floors, join us! The only reason I'm not giving Playdate five stars is because they do definitely understaff on busy days. Sometimes it takes far too long to get checked in, and there should be at least one employee roaming around inside the play area.

As far as the play area goes, this place is pretty great- safe, padded, and clean. My two year old daughter is a mover, and it's great to have an indoor climbing space during the winter months. The biggest bummer to me is that they don't allow outside food, and the food served there is kind of expensive and really just not good (The $10 "panini" was tiny and not even heated on the inside, and didn't come with any sides). I would love to go here on a week night with my husband and let my daughter play while he had a nice picnic dinner, but we can't because the bad food is a deterrent.

My 3 1/2 year old is active, energetic, and wild. I thought this place would be perfect for him. But there are a zillion things that concern me about playdate seattle. 1) it's 3 levels of mazes and tunnels. If you lose sight of your kid, or they need you, parents have to climb through a labyrinth to get their kid. It'd be nice if there were a staircase for adults to reach their children quickly. 2)there are no employees supervising any of the 3 play area levels. There aren't many parents supervising their kids either. More on that... 3) if your kid is under 5, stay with them (if you can). This place fills up with rambunctious older kids. I was slow to follow my kiddo up to the second level. By the time I caught up to him, an unsupervised 7 year old threw a big bouncy ball at my son's head, knocked him down, and was bashing his head with the ball. My son was screaming and couldn't get away. The 7 year old saw me and took off. Where was his mom? Out in the cafe sipping a coffee probably. Ridiculous. Infuriating. Unacceptable. 4) there is no gate keeping the kids in the play area. This place is a huge maze. What if your kid decided to leave, and walked out of the building? There's absolutely nothing to stop them from doing that. 5) the hyper-aggressive ball canon room is a disaster waiting to happen. I got hit in the neck by a ball. It hurt. I can't imagine how much it would hurt one of the little kids walking around there. And what's with teaching our kids to bash each other in the face with projectiles anyway? Seems to undermine what (some) of us teach our kids, not to hurt people. I saw numerous kids walk out of that room crying. 6) the under 3yrs play area is a little more peaceful. But it's like a dark little dungeon and it's tiny. 7) the slides in this place are not for the faint of heart. They are steep. They are fast. My daredevil kid tried one, and refused to go on anymore. 8) there are two registers in the entire place. I waited in line for at least 10 minutes to sign in. It took another 10 minutes in line to close my tab at the end. Crazy when you have a little kid waiting. I am never ever ever going back. Ever.

I have to admit there are less stars for this place because I have been to Playdate PDX and like that location so much better. The Seattle location feels cramped and claustrophobic by comparison. I was particularly unimpressed by the ball pit area, where it really hurts to be hit by a ball while standing in the middle area (where there is an air machine for children to play with). Being on the other side of the divide and being hit by a ball didn't feel much better. Portland's ball shooting area is easily double the size of the play area in Seattle, with lots of room for small children to run in-between flying balls without leaving the area crying. It is still fun and it does still delight, just be warned that it is a tight fit for adults if you have a little person you are following around or a lost/scared/hurt child you are trying to extract. The upside is your little person will be thoroughly worn out exploring this place. Both have gluten-free options, but the food is lackluster at best. With all the gluten-free options these days you think they could come up with something tastier for the price. Remember to wear your socks and make sure there is a short sleeve shirt under your child's layers (and yours too if you're running around with them) as the play area gets warm.

The play area is awesome, but the service is so awful we will never go back. It took 55 minutes for a kids chicken nuggets with carrots and a caprese panini. They were busy, but that's a ridiculous wait for such simple food. They need to reduce the options on the menu by half if they can't keep up with simple orders on a busy day. Staff seemed annoyed when after 50 minutes I politely asked if they could tell me how much longer it would be. Close to an hour is an awfully long time to wait with a hungry 2 year old. Our food was not even warm when it was finally served. The cheese on the panini wasn't melted at all yet the bread was close to burnt. I left incredibly disappointed by the experience only to come here and see they are suing playdate cafe in Lynnwood which opened first. How awful! From now on we will only go to the soon to be renamed playdate cafe in Lynnwood or elevated sports. This place is terrible.

Good and affordable food. Clean place space, my 3 & 6 year old played for 2+ hours! Great spot would give it 5 stars if they put in some traction. Kids and adults falling all over the place. Put on your traction socks or plan on taking a tumble too

great idea, but a little stressful for one adult watching 2 kiddos. I had a hard time figuring out where to pay and no one was staffed at the pay counter, so I paid at the food counter, but there was no sign indicating that you could pay there. and, the woman told me that I could go into the structures with socks and when I told her I didn't have any, she didn't have any solution, just "aww". I then realized, looking back behind the unmanned pay counter near the structure, that they had a bunch of socks. I just helped myself, since no one was still there to help me. ok! I agree that while a blast and the best part of the place according to my 4 year old, the ball room is an accident waiting to happen. the balls hit hard when shot through the cannons. I also had brought in some snacks that I was reminded to stow away as they were in violation of health code? not sure, but I was even told that I couldnt bring in water. I think I will be back, because my kids didnt want to leave and will ask to go back. and, I did like it better than the place in Mill Valley. I liked that it was small enough to feel comfortable watching the kids, well sort of.

This is a fun place for kids to have a great time. I went on a sunny Wednesday in April, so it was not crowded. The food was quite good and the staff was friendly. I do agree with the other reviewers who said there should be an entrance line and a line for food because no one wants to wait in line with a toddler while one poor staffer is checking people in and cooking. That was the only improvement I could suggest. It is a clean, well-run facility. I will go back.

The play structure is in the vein of other places, eg. Elevated Sportz in Bothell and a place we found in Portland (there seems to be a Playdate PDX too but it was a different place that we went to). As one other reviewer noted, it's a bit darker inside the structure than other structures I've seen, but it's not outrageous. Could be that lighting can be improved if enough customers ask for it. There are a few novel bits in the structure, including a floor where balls and such are digitally projected from above and the system models them moving around when kids kick at them. I also saw what looked like a light-up SNF-style dance floor, but it was dark and unresponsive yesterday. Perhaps it is not yet complete. I found street parking right across the street, but this was a weekday right when they opened. At busier times the REI garage can be a resource, but I've found it to be packed at times too, and I'd imagine that this facility would be packed on weekends. The play structure seemed to wobble just a tiny bit, something I haven't noticed with others, but I had no reason to suspect safety. My 4.5yo ASD son loved the structure, but with *two* slides that was pretty much a given. The cafe area has a concrete floor and the play area is carpeted if I recall correctly. I didn't have traction issues on the concrete but could see where others would. Elevated Sportz, Arena Sports, and other facilities have socks for sale -- I would hope that this place will have them too, both for adults and various kid sizes. My son for some reason didn't want to keep his on, which the apparent person in charge was on me about. I suspect that they fear liability if a kid tumbles on the slides via bare feet sticking on the way down. At $10.50 or whatever I was charged this feels a bit pricy, but unlike some other facilities, that price is good all day, and my son didn't have to wear an expiration time sticker on his back. As the place becomes better-known and attracts more customers, I wouldn't be surprised if they tighten up on this and institute a reservation system. There's a punchcard available to save on return visits, ISTR something like $88 for 10. That would save some $, not an astounding discount but enough to matter. The only real issue I had with the place was the food. The web site claims dairy-free items, which may technically be true, but many people interpret "dairy" to include eggs, and here all of the baked goods contain eggs. The person behind the counter had to talk to his manager and what they came up with was a hummus/veggie plate. What was presented to me was a plate with two small condiment cups of hummus, a handful of the smallest sandblasted carrots I've ever seen, a handful of snap peas, a handful of English cucumber slices, and a condiment cup of undeclared olives. The hummus seemed okay, but two of the snap peas were covered with brown slime. I ate one cucumber slice before realizing that they were all slimy and past being serveable. I pointed these out to the counter guy who laughed and charged me anyway. I had a roiling stomach for the rest of the day from the suspect bits that I'd ingested before realizing they were spoiled. I cannot recommend eating food here, both because of safety and the conduct of the staff. Update: I contacted management privately re the food issues, they apologized and are taking appropriate steps - I've increased my rating. Stuff happens, especially with a new business / staff. The key factor is how management handles issues - they can be professional like the management here, or they can threaten to call the cops on your 4 year old (like a certain other establishment).

My husband and I were looking for somewhere besides a restaurant to watch the seahawks play. I heard of this place from a stay at home dad. They serve BEER, and the game was on every tv in the place. Our 7 and 4 yr old ran off like screaming monkeys. We had to really look for them to keep and eye on them which was a little bit of a bummer. I mean who wants to drink a warm beer and do obstacle courses while watching bits and pieces of the game .? ;). So unfortunately, I had to get sober and watch those monkeys. Oh and our 18 month old, let's not forget him. All he wanted to do was run laps around the cafe area. So we wasted beer money on that little rascal. :) for kids 3 and up, this place is a ton of fun. My 4 yr old is extremely high energy. The 7 yr old kept coming to me and telling me some little shit was "poking" him and wouldn't stop. -.- Anywho. They have a 1$ menu. I made my sweaty animals sit and have an icecream! Not a place I want to go to weekly but could be a fun workout for an otherwise boring morning? Worth checking out!

The facility is great for kids, but the party was way over priced! We paid over $500 for a party for 6 kids and 7 adults! WTF?! And because they don't allow outside food, you have to order from their menu, but they don't bring the food in until almost an hour into your party time, but you only have the room for an hour and 45 minutes. We booked online for the minimum 10 kids and added pizza and milk for 10 kids. So the charges should have been $180 for the room and $50 for the pizza and milk; this is according to the website. But we got 3 12" pizzas and 6 milks and that cost us $72!!! The fruit platter was $30 made up of mostly apples and oranges. I did find 2 pieces of pineapple though. And the hummus platter was over priced at $30 as well. We also paid $100 deposit that they seemed to not apply to our costs so now I have to call them AGAIN ( had to call them as they didn't give us an itemized receipt). I like the facility but just not the prices and if you are going to serve gluten free items, then you need to educate your staff on it. We will likely go back to play but won't be hosting any parties there!

Just like many of the other reviews -- I'm excited about the concept, but the service is terrible. The staff is too green and stressed.

I really wanted to like this place...but felt like the area for young kids (my daughter is 2) just wasn't big enough or interesting enough. Looks like it may be fun for older kids, but that big maze also seems claustrophobic. It was really busy the one time I was there on a Saturday, so maybe try during a weekday

We went back again on Saturday, September 21st, and it was better this time around. I made sure that I wore socks so that I could go into the play structure after my 3 year-old son along with my daughter. My almost 17 month old daughter was now a walker, and she had been practicing her sliding skills at the toddler playground at University Village. And I got a Nikon D3100 camera for my birthday. So we were ready for the challenge again. I got better pictures with my new camera. There were only a couple of pictures that were blurry, but this is something that I will have to work on with learning about photography. We went on a Saturday morning, and it was a little more crowded. And she was okay on the slides. She would go on stomach feet first and slide down the slides, but the tunnel slides were a little too fast for both of us. It was easier to get my son to go into the toddler room which was more the my daughter's speed because there were more toddlers and parents in there on that Saturday morning. My son Aidan really likes this place, especially the "big slide". It was like a rush for my 3 year-old son to go down the slide. I am glad that this place was padded. I am really glad I went into the play structure because it is good to know what my child is going through. There were few areas that were more tricky like the netting area. I had to put my daughter on the other side and then go over the netting. And it was fine and held my weight. And there was one area that was a tight squeeze to get up through as an adult, but I managed to get all of us through. I view Playdate SEA as a place for your kid to up their play level, and I am learning how to take better pictures there.

My 3 yo had a blast. Sweating after 1 hr in. Food better than acceptable. Good coffee, wine, beer! Admission is for all day/night. Clean, fun, great place to meet friends with kids for a chance to actually talk. Friday 10-1pm was pretty busy, can't imagine what a weekend would be like. Yikes.

Fun place to let the little ones run. A little pricey but they have beer and wine and places for mom/dad to work.

Love this place. Good coffee, fun for my kids and we don't have to leave if we don't want to. Haven't tried food yet, but I won't ding them for a star if it sucks because even if it's so-so, the fact they have food is good enough. Beer and wine here too. Next time I'm gonna bring my bills to work on and computer. Great place.

I have been here several tImes and the structure is great, but the service is completely terrible. The manager rebuffed any helpful iideas about child safety and a bit snotty in attitude. Staff seem very bored and not caring. Ii did not see any employees actually around the structure checking on kids at all. I have gone on weekdays and the attitude seems very different from the weekend and not welcoming for a new place in town.

Took my 6 yo twins here and they had an AWESOME time! The food & coffee is average, but it's a great place to let the kids run & play and the parents can relax with a cup of coffee or run through the tubes with them. We will definitely be back, especially during the rainy winter months.

15$ 5yrs+ / 8$ 2-4yrs So this place is great for indoor play when it's rainy or cold. Everyone who works there is nice. Lounge cafe for adults. But you aren't allowed to bring outside food or drinks. I guess they make more profit from the cafe I should say. I loved everything but here are a few suggestions. I would recommend there be a better area for storing you shoes, bags and personals. I think that balls are the number thing the kids love to play with going to play area. They have this area where you can launch soft stress balls at each other as if it was war. My son loved it. But it's a safety hazard depending how tough your little one or anyone's lil ones can take a hit. There is an area for infants only. Which I enjoyed but I wish they had a mini size ball pit. Because the infant/toddlers were drawn to the ball section and seemed to get sad and grouchy when balls started to fly and they couldn't join in The maze and structure is awesome. But many places are hard to see your kid and even get to them if they need help. I just yelled for my son lol I'm sure if you needed help a worker would be glad to assist you. They keep the place wipes down and also thr bathroom was on point. I always carry lysol spray, clorox wipes and also anything the bacterial wipes related. It's easy enough to disinfect areas to use considering the number of ppl who use thr bathroom. But they were clean none the less. I witness an employee changing out thr trash, restocking soap dispensers and wiping thr floor down during 4hrs. They offer party rooms idk thr prices but call if you want info on it They offer beer :) and wine hehe Bring a lock u can lock ur stuff up in one of those lockers near the restroom. But I think everyone should have a ticket to drop off there belongings because it easily can be taken. Cameras everywhere Parking is tough but I belive most family's walk within the area If you like yoga and crossfire I believe there are places to join in 2 blocks down Okay this is why my 1 star is missing. I enjoyed the delicious food! But it doesn't show any of the price when ordering. Most family's are on a budget. For parents who have 1 kid. The menu is a typical and ideal for them. But for parent with more 2 and up. It gets a little pricey. So by the end of it we payed 73$ for 4 hrs of hanging out there. Kids play charge included. Free water! I think that when your ordering. Your hungry and the kids are hungry from all the play you pretty much just order what appeals to you. Without having a price o n the board it makes it hard. Not sure if is on the small menus thar you can read didn't check. Picture of receipt is above. Not bad but didn't really fill our family up I would recommend eating and than going and if yo u decide to purchase a beverage and snacks it would be alright Fun place. Will be coming here but making a few adjustment to our appetite before entering :)

Never coming here again - Playdate Café please do better this was disappointing. We went recently with the knowledge ahead of time that the concept was quite appealing and that our child having been in similar place spaces out of state would love this space. First off the concept is amazing for both the play area and the café but everything falls short on the execution. The play space is very poorly lit and in some areas quite dark especially around the toddler area. This makes is really uncomfortable for some kids and also makes it hard to observe where your kids are even if you are close by. The play space also is taking up quite a small area of the venue and its really a tight fit and very crowded in there due to that lack of spaciousness that kids really need. In fact if you have to get in there to recover a hurt child then its going to be tough and I am a pretty petite person. If you have a toddler you have to stay in really close proximity because they are very likely to get hurt unintentionally but some very excited kids. The equipment and all the structures need maintenance and repair and are in very poor shape. Now lets talk about the café and the food. Oh my.. that food may look healthy or seem healthy but its quite a disaster. Please don't be fooled by this you are not getting a meal in this place they don't have cooks they have people who heat up and assemble things from frozen bags and sometimes will serve the food cold and still frozen. The one extra star I have on here is because they have wine and beer and well you'll need it. By all means if you have a 6+ year old and need somewhere to go to have them super occupied and out of your hair to give you a couple of hours to do some work on your laptop or device then this place might be totally worth it for you.

Absolutely love this place! I take my 4 year old often, just had a party hosted in July. The Hostess was on top of all of our needs (mostly adults) and treated the party boy like a rock star! The pricing is not outrageous either. The play area is large and perfect for my son. I let him run around with limited supervision because I know he will be safe. There is also a separate area for little little ones, which is nice when he's ready for a more mellow playtime. The food and drinks are delicious. I have had various items from the menu and they were all scrumptious! I recommend PlayDate to all of my parent friends!

This review is for the birthday party package The facilities itself is great... Very fun for both kids and adults, we had kids as young as 7 months and old as 5 and everyone in our party raved about how much fun they had . My main issue was the price of food (again)... The pizza here is good, but not great and for 20-25.00 a pie (for large) the price of a party package room can definitely add up. We paid close to 500.00 for 8 kids (although we could have invited 10 for the room) 6 pizzas, 2 chicken wing platters and 2 drinks...I don't know I just have mixed thoughts about this place... It's a super fun place so I'd say if you have the money go... But if you're frugal like me I'd rather go elsewhere that allows outside food and is just as much fun... All in all I can't hate on this place so I'm giving them a 4/5.

This place was wonderfully entertaining for my 2 and 5 year olds. We were there almost 3 hours and they were having a fantastic time right up until the end. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the price. For entry and lunch, I spent close to $50 on the three of us (that's without beverages). That's high in my opinion.

Keep meaning to review this place, I LOVE it! I only wish it was closer to where we live as we would be here every week!!! Humongous okay area for the kids with only one exit in and out. They also have a smaller section for little ones (age 1-4 ish) although my three year old has loved playing in the big kid area since he was about two. They have a lot of yummy snacks, with plenty of healthy options. There's usually at least one or two beers on tap that I would like as well as a few wine choices. The place is meant for kids to have a blast but they take care of the parents too :-) both my older child (10) and the little one (3) have a blast here and are ready to conk out from exhaustion, which lets all admit it is the main goal of playgrounds !!! The air conditioning is nice in the summer, they seem to also keep the temperature right in the winter. There's plenty of seats many of which are very close to the play area so you can keep an eye on your little ones. It's not at all stressful if you come during the week, the weekends can be a little crazy though ;-) The staff is super friendly, they're all good with the kids and seem upbeat. I've never been here and thought the employees didn't enjoy their job which is pretty amazing for a kid zoo !

Really fun place for kids -- not so much for parents. --Everything is over-priced. --I'm not comfortable allowing my kids to run around a dimly lit play area--that any adult is also allowed to wander into--where I can't see them all times. --Do NOT let your kid play laser tag here! The kids have a blast, but they swap and share Rambo-like headlamps....which is hilarious until 3 weeks later when you have to call Lice Knowing You. Cool concept, fun for the little guys, but too stressful for me as a parent. I won't be back.

If you've got kids or nieces and nephews, this is a great place for them to burn off some energy on a rainy or even sunny day. The one thing that you can probably count on is that THEY will enjoy their time there. I can say from the adult side, there's food and beer and the service does fairly well to keep up with the swarms of people that come to the Play date.

I take my kids there for laser tag. This is a fun place for kids and a good place to sip on a mocha while the munchkins play. We go there often. I like the attendants too, they are friendly and courteous. If you go on weekends, its best to purchase their 10 visit passes. We like this place. Their pizza is also good.

I've come here several times over the years but no more. I came on a holiday week and was informed that I'd be charged an additional $5 per child which brought the total cost for my three to $50! Add to that the $10 I paid for parking and our day has started at $60 before any food and drink. That's crazy! There are so many better places in Seattle for a lot less. The play area is fun but not worth it in my mind. Also, they offer healthy food options but overpriced and I expected better from the prices I was paying. Soggy cucumbers on our hummus and vegetable plate - come on!

    (1)
  • Jennifer A.

Here's the deal. The play area is awesome sauce. Super fast slides. A whole room full of balls and ball cannons and a ball fountain. An interactive floor with games. Awesome climbing tubes and obstacles. There's even a separate section for 3 and under if they feel a little overwhelmed by the big kids running around on the other side. Plus, it's only $5 admission for the little ones during the week. Well worth even an hour or so of quality play on a rainy day. Cons: Very limited street parking. No outside food or drink allowed (I sometimes watch kids with severe allergies and we can't bring in "safe" snacks). The cafe is overpriced and service is slow. I waited 15 minutes for my hummus plate, which was literally just some veggies on a plate with some little cups of hummus. And nothing that really needed to be cut: snow peas, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes. There may have been cucumber slices, but I don't remember that well. There was a small amount of pita bread, but that shouldn't have taken 15 minutes to round up. It was not crowded at all that day and I was the only one to have ordered food at that time.

    (4)
  • Mary K.

Avoid on busy days. I brought my 4 year old nephew here to play, which was a total fail because he was overwhelmed with the amount of kids and didn't step into the arena. Instead we sat and ate some pizza. When we were leaving, we were charged for time that he didn't play and on top of that, they mistook me for some other poor lady and charged her card. I don't even know how since our names are totally different, I'm supposing she was probably the only other asian? I only caught it when signing the final slip. I'm not all too sure if they refunded the money back because the cashier just stood around dumbfounded by his mistake. I just paid for mine and left. Overpriced and food takes forever to come out. I don't even know how the holding cc or pricing of "playing time" even works since it feels like the time I paid for was contingent on their slow service. Clusterfuck.

Pros and Cons: - After several visits here, we start to see the wear and tear of the facility. - Food always take a long time, and I wish they'd post the prices on the wall, not just on the laminated menus. + Staff do a decent job putting up with screaming kids and some that just want to break every safety rule. (this explains the turnover!) + Several healthy snacks available, much better than McD! + It's indoor! This place wears them out and guaranteed to sleep well for the night! Conclusion: If your child is old enough to defend him/herself, then by all means, come and sit and enjoy the tv and wine/beer while the little ones run wild. Don't be surprised by some bumps and tears at some point.

PlayDate SEA is the perfect place for kids! Great for a rainy day, or if the kids are bored at the house. I came here with the kids I nanny, and they felt right at home. They immediately ran to the play structure, which is super colorful and fun! I sat in the large cafe area, doing some work and watching some TV on the big screen they have. Also! They have wifi, so be sure to ask for the password! The food is good, definitely satiated the kids' hunger after a long time running around. The prices are not on the chalkboard menu, but they are online! Everything is very cheap (: This place is awesome!

We've been going to playdate for about a year now and it's a great place to get some energy out for the kids. Our boys are 18 months and 3 years old, and they love it. Pricing is fair for the value. Food is pretty good and again, good value. A big plus is TV's for catching some football, coffee, beers, wine... You could basically stay the entire day here and everyone in the family would be happy.

Other than the fact that there are no outside food or drinks allowed and their selection is super over-priced, this is a great place for children of all ages. There's a designated area for infants and toddlers and then a huge area for almost all ages. I love the slides and ball room.

Hi, an awful area for crawlers!!! It is very small, narrow, very dark, and boring. No toys, no puzzles - nothing what can entertain a crawler. Older kids run around and they are not supervised by parents who are busy socializing in the dining area. I would not recommend Playdate Sea for kids younger 3 years old.

    (1)
  • Brandi M.

I love having the option of an indoor area for my toddling 14 month old. But the 0-3 kid area is seriously lacking. It's dark, and kind of boring other than the slide. Some mirrors or colorful lights would add a lot to this area. Another thing, I wouldn't come here for the food - it's seriously lacking. We got sandwiches and after the first bite I had serious buyer's remorse. Pretty bad.

There is no staff on duty to supervise children. Yes, there is staff PRESENT but not in any way accountable for the safety of kids at play. I watched children being repeatedly kicked, punched, pushed & even one child being dragged across the floor by his arm with his stomach bare on the ground before a friend and I stopped him though staff was looking on. Either make a requirement that parents have to keep their children visible or have staff be accountable. My son was punched in the neck, bullied & taunted by a group of kids in the ball area and shoved backwards down a slide. This is unacceptable. We will not be back until this problem is fixed. I only heard a staff member reprimand a child when they began throwing balls into THEIR face repeatedly. Even then, he yelled at the child to leave the area and never caught back up with him.

I have been coming here for a little while now and it continually appears to be running down hill with every visit. The children have fun with themselves, although they have gotten hurt on a few occasions because there it little to staffing. When I have inquired about the safety factor, I was directed to a girl who said she was the "owner". She said that it wasn't very busy and that they don't need to have people over there on slow days. They always appear to be overwhelmed and understaffed. I have seen at least three different waves of employees since I have started coming. I wonder why they are unable to keep employees... The worst part was, was that they place was mostly full, with crazy lines at the registers. I also talked to other employees, casually, and they have said that the play area is continuously dirty and gets neglected, because they don't have enough people to clean it. Other draw backs on this place is that there is little to no parking. Not a huge deal, with it being in SLU, I expect as much, it just sucks for business. The food is overpriced. My child has a few allergies and I asked what kind of pizza crust they use. The lady at the counter said they use Freschetta pizza. You mean the kind I can buy at Safeway for $5.00? How can they justify selling it for $25.00? Also, the wifi is a joke. I asked it they had wifi and the guy said yes, pointed to a slip of paper and then walked away. I deduced the network name and password from the tiny slip of paper taped to the register and then still had difficulties getting in. I inquired again and the guy rolled his eyes and said it doesn't work sometimes. If you don't have reliable wifi, then don't advertise it. I will say that I will not be back. This experience had been a horrible one. Many things inside the play area were broken and I won't pay $10.00 for a broken facility. It was ridiculous.

The owners of this business have made the conscious decision to sue a small business in Lynnwood, WA named 'Playdate Cafe' for using the term 'Playdate.' The two businesses are about 20 miles from eachother.. The single mom who owns Playdate Cafe is now being forced to undergo significant expense to change all signage, website, employee shirts, etc.... to avoid a lawsuit against her. I won't support a bully business.

What bullies! I was all ready to leave my 4 star review for Playdate SEA and something another yelper wrote caught my eye. Apparently, Playdate SEA sued Playdate Cafe in Lynnwood (which opened first) for their name. Playdate SEA claims that Playdate Cafe is stealing their name by using the word "Playdate.". Since the owner of Playdate Cafe can't afford a legal battle, she is having to change the name of her business. Does anyone else think this crazy?!? The businesses are 25 miles apart!!! So despite the fact that my boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves both times we came here, I can't imagine that we will ever come back and support these bullies. P.S. Google "Playdate Cafe name change" if you don't believe me.

Since they opened, the food and service has gone way downhill. The play area is still great, but the last two or three times I've been there I've experienced problems. Like a sucker, I kept going back. No more. Today, on a busy but not busier than and other Sunday I've been, we waited an HOUR to get our food (a Reuben, some mini corndogs, and a grilled cheese sandwich). When I said something to the guy about the wait, I was met with a sarcastic, "I know, we suck." I did speak to the manager, and she was apologetic, but it didn't seem like she really meant it. We did get passes to return, but I'm honestly not sure we will. We definitely won't be ordering food there again (my sandwich was lukewarm, over dressed, and soggy), and since you can't bring in outside snacks I'm hesitant to go back. My suggestion to the owners: 1) You have too many items on the menu. Pick your five best sellers and eliminate everything else. It's slowing down your kitchen. 2) Hire some real cooks. 3) Your staff need to seriously work on their customer service.

Welcome to my nightmare. Screaming toddlers, most of whom look sticky to the touch. Parents chasing their kids around. Captive audiences. And... did I mention the kids? Someone pinch me and wake me up. But don't touch me without sanitizing first. Yikes! Honestly I have this weird hypocritical thing where I'll eat food from the sketchiest backwater street-stalls in dingy fourth-world countries, but get me around hundreds of of American kids in a confined space, and all of a sudden I care about germs. A lot. Not that this place seems very dirty. The staff does a lot of active cleaning. But any time there's a gathering of snotty noses and unwashed hands, I get squeamish. I can't let this general distaste for the seemingly massive quantities of toddler germs take away from what PlayDate SEA is. It's a place where kids can have a blast, and parents can feel safe about their kids. There are few sharp corners, no playground creepers in sight, and the staff is surprisingly friendly (for I'm sure how much bullshit they probably have to endure from self-centered parents on a daily basis). The space has a small food/drink bar (and yes they have beer and wine), a large seating area with view of the structure, and some party rooms with kid-sized tables (and an elevated pizza rack, so kids can't get their grubby hands on the pies before I have a chance to grab some 'za). What am I doing reviewing a place like this? I came here for a 3-year-old's birthday party. I stepped from the waking dream that is Seattle in to a little slice of my own personal hell. I'm not sure what more you can expect from a place like this. Sure the parking sucks, but this is downtown Seattle. What, are they supposed to just materialize parking out of thin air? I can't say that this would for sure stay a 4-star review if I came here all the time. I hear it's a bit of a shit-show on weekend mornings. But the kids we were with had a blast on the structure. The parents enjoyed the okay pizza. And the staff was all nice in the face of utter chaos. So surprisingly, I had a good time... hanging with the adults in the corner.

GREAT play are for my 6-7 year old kids. They didn't want to leave and we were there for 3 hours! Food was fine, I wasn't expecting fine dining. They had lots of choices for both kids and adults alike. Parking wasn't as difficult as expected. I will definitely come back soon!

***This review is solely based on the CUSTOMER SERVICE*** THE SPACE IS AMAZING though!!! The play area itself is super great. The kids love it. It's clean and the space is large with a variety of activities inside. There's a dance area and even a shooting course American Gladiators style with soft balls. I wish I could play in there is what I'm sayin. THere is an even larger seating area for the restaurant for adults to hang out. There are TV's everywhere too. Bring a sweater though because it gets super cold with the AC on. The food is decent too. BUT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! I don't want to give too much detail because it would give us away. We had our kid here for her birthday. There was a strange confusion at first where they called us and got the date wrong for the party. We arrive at the venue and they had reserved a room. As I'm sitting in the room, I get kicked out and told "WE DON'T ALLOW THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN HERE." It was quite the claim being that I am a paying customer, the party cost me about $400 for goodness sake. Anyway, they had us at the wrong room and moved us around. I'm still mortified and embarrassed at being called the general public. Anyway. One we were roomed, it went well after that. I will likely never have a party here again, or refer others. Unless something changes drastically with their customer service...

I brought my toddler here for the first time today. What a fun place! My child didn't stop running around for hours. I'm sure it was just heaven for all of the kids. I was a bit shocked at how many people were there. Once I got comfortable, I followed my child around the play area. Great fun together! The coffee, juice, and pizza was amazingly delicious! The staff were nice, as well. It's important to have a patient staff when there are kids. Only one drawback was the lack of parking.

Love this place. The restaurant they have had pretty good food for being a kids place and great options for adults and kids. One of the cleaner kid play options in seattle. Often see the staff cleaning up or making walk-throughs making sure the place is clean/ under control. Great rainy day place to bring the kids for a pretty reasonable price.

Seattle needs more facilities like this -- perfect for a rainy day to get the sillies out, if only they could cut down on the echoes. A big room with poorly supervised, ill-behaved, screaming children is not enjoyable for myself and the well-managed children I care for from time to time.

Wow. Over priced and not good for kids under 8. It was sheer chaos. You can't see your kids at all from the cafe. The staff was full of attitude. Not impressed. Maybe they will work out the kinks by the time my 3 1/2 year old is old enough to play here.

I am relatively new to this whole experience as my son is only 16 months but based on my limited experience I thought this place could do better. I was able to pay pretty quickly once I arrived and I have to say I was a little shocked that there was no outside food or drink allowed. I still had 1/2 my coffee left from earlier so I sat near the door to finish. I think, later on, I even saw a mother getting scolded for what looked like an outside lunchbox that she had sitting on the table in front of her child. I do like that they only charge a flat rate as I know other places charge by the amount of time you're there. Toddler Area: I didn't go inside the larger structure recommended for 4 and up but my son and I hung out in the toddler area for quite a while. I felt it was a little on the small side but I did like that everything was was cushioned from the bars to the floor and pretty accessible for a small child. My son had no complaints considering he played for an 1.5 hours. It was a little on the dark side and the door that shuts to the area is very easy for those small toddlers who can reach to get out and run off. It also felt quite warm in this area and I was wearing a tank top. Staff: It did also seem concerning to me that things I had read about this place did state there were staff to help supervise the play areas to allow parents to partake in the cafe area, however, I didn't really see anyone supervising either area. Not to mention there weren't many of the parents supervising their children either. I don't know how many older kids I informed that the toddler area was not a good place for them to be. Why am I instructing other people's children on the rules? Shame on you! I don't think the intent of this place was meant for the parents to be completely hands off once you arrive. Kudos to those parents who I saw in both areas supervising and asisting their children. The number of staff seemed limited to me considering it is now summer break for children and it was fairly crowded the entire time I was there and this was on a Thursday (6/20) late am to early pm. Food: Let's see, where do I start. I waited behind someone in line for a good while and since I was the last person in line and my son was trying to walk out the door, I went to grab him. No sooner had I walked away the cashier disappeared and I stood there waiting. A staff person walked by me outside the counter towards the play area stating somebody would be with me. I waited a few more minutes when I looked into the kitchen and caught someone's eye. She came out and took my order. Not a few minutes later the cashier came up to me to let me know that they were out of grapes due to the large crowd. I thought OK, we will substitute however there aren't really any options outside of grapes for a small child that is just starting to get his molars. Yet, no outside food or drink is allowed. I opted for the PB&J for my son with hummus, snap peas and milk. I couldn't believe how much jelly was on this sucker. It was squeezing out all sides and I think less could be used. However, I would recommend that you have smaller portion sizes for smaller toddlers as well as other nutritious items that small children can eat. My son could only eat 1/2 the sandwich, the tiny portion of hummus, the snap peas were too hard for him to chew and swallow. I had a ceasar salad with chicken. I have eaten ceasars all over the city and I actually like the dressing they used. I was a little bummed that they came out and told me that they didn't have enough romaine due to the large crowds so would I like spinach or mixed medley. Spinach is just wrong but the medley with the remaining romaine was fine and the chicken was just okay. I would think that the business would have been more prepared knowing when school gets out and checking the weather forecast. I also just happened to notice that after we had sat down at our table there was food all over the floor. Not just crumbs but actual slices of cheese and crackers along with crumbs. Couldn't this have been cleaned up? Not necessarily by the staff but by the apparently lazy parents who could have easily picked up after their child. Geez! I didn't use the wifi and I did see the TVs but do not recall seeing subtitles since there was no sound. I thought it was a little hilarious that there was only one trash can in the entire place outside of the bathrooms. It would have been nice to have a few more strategically placed. I will say that I have no complaints about the bathrooms; they were nice and clean. I would come back again and recommend to others if I saw that there were some good improvements.

Just got back from the second birthday party we've attended here. They've started holding "laser tag" on Thursdays and Saturdays - this is a really bad idea (that costs $5 extra). I'm not sure if they didn't have enough laser tag units, or if there are laws about how many kids they can have in there when the lights are off. But there were between 10 and 20 kids stuck OUTSIDE the playspace in an unruly line, waiting to go in, the entire night. This defeats the ENTIRE PURPOSE of this place - which is to have a place where parents can go, hang out, drink a beer, watch a game, and have their kids wear themselves out in a safe, fun environment. As a result of this, there were lots of angry parents, annoyed that their kids were stuck outside the space. This nearly led to a fight between one of the parents and one of the employees (with one of the kids physically between them at the time), and another instance where one of the employees pushed a father trying to get his kid out of the space. Bad scene. Add to this the fact that the pizza (and presumably the rest of the food) here is pretty bad, the service between slow and really slow, and what you have is a really, really good idea that is failing as a result of bad management decisions, bad on-the-floor management, lack of training, and phoning in the food and service. Credit where due - the guy working the entrance to the playspace tonight was awesome - handled the kids well, organized the line, was positive the whole time. And the previous time we were here (during the day), the staff working the playspace were great as well. However, the food and the service were bad both times, and tonight was just a total fail, with overtones of endangering the kids. This place is 75% of the way there (in terms of the playspace itself and the idea), but that last 25% (getting the food, the service, and the staff generally to where they need to be) is a killer.

Greedy: I am in awe of what the Playdate Seattle owners have decided to charge for a kids play area. For our 2 kids (ages 4 and 1 year) to play for an hour, our charge was $25. When did kids playing become such a luxury item? On top of our admission fee, if you are remotely hungry or thirsty, you pay prime time fees for food. This place charges Disneyland prices for a Chuck e Cheese atmosphere.

The play place is fantastic, but if they aren't going to allow outside snacks in, the restaurant part needs serious work. At 11:41 i ordered a fruit & cheese plate for the kiddos. Food wasn't ready until 12:15. Way too long for some busy kiddos. It's not pizza or a grilled cheese that needs cooking. It's sliced cheese, packaged crackers and a bowl of fruit. With hand stamps for re-entry, we should have left and gone elsewhere for food.

seattle, i'm so jealous that there isn't a PlayDate Sea in my neck of the woods. had such a blast with my boy. what a great way to spend a few hours, fantastic play area, good seating and food options for everyone. Seattle you got us on this one.

The facility and food are good, and kids seem to enjoy it. My son had his birthday party there, and we spent over $500. However, they totally messed up charges by charging us with bill from a previous party. Even worse, they charged my credit card twice. All these were without my signature (they asked my credit card before party started). Another uncomfortable part was one of person who handled final charge tried to hint for fat tips (asking for leave $100 reservation fee as tips and said just a suggestion). What??? How dare you ask for this ridiculous tip after you totally messed up bills. I finally had to dispute duplicate charges through my credit company. To owner's credit, Forest tried to fix the problem, but one of employees just messed up things. I hope this is just my experience given kid did like the place and food was good.

I took my 23 month old here for a birthday party a few nights ago! We all had such a blast! This is a wonderful place where adults can also participate with their children. My daughter loved the different courses, the slides, the activities and as parents, I love that I could do activities with my daughter first and then let her go on her own! I also loved the fact they have a café with food and drinks which you can order as well. There were several parents drinking wine while the kids played, gotta love that! Although the focus was on kids here, they definitely made it fun for adults, too! We can't wait to bring her again and wish we had one of these on the eastside.

Five stars for the play structures. Four stars for the menu. The pricing is absolutely fair. To this who complain, come on, where else can you buy a little cup of celery or grapes for $1? But what brings down the rating is the slow service. Really, it's not just sloow, it's sloooooooowwwwww (say it out loudly as long as you can and do it at least 150 times and you will begin to get a hint of just how incredibly non-existent their sense of urgency is. Want two pretzels? Prepare to wait half an hour or so. In fact I'm writing this while waiting. One staffer went outside of protocol to give our starving kid a handful of grapes while the rest of the 6-people sfaff looked confused. Pack your own snacks and smuggle it in. Anyway, super fun place (other than the waiting)!

Really needed play-space just outside of downtown Seattle in South Lake Union. Tons of room for the big kids to play between the slides, climbing stuff, soft-ball shoot-at-each-other area (although someone always gets hit in the face). Small toddler area I wish had a few more options since I have two kids far apart in age. Love the big open eating area where you can keep an eye on the kids while enjoying some TV, grabbing a snack or even a meal (pizza, panninis, salads, fruit & cheese, plenty of kids' meals, etc). On this note, they have good, healthy food options and the food is actually not bad. They've even got beer and wine too - although I can imagine that devolving really quickly with parents arguing with each other over which kid hit first. The price for the punch cards are great - it's something like 40% cheaper to buy a card than it is to pay each time. I've only been a few times since it opened, but can totally imagine using this place on all those rainy weekends we have throughout the fall and winter.

Took my kids here for the first time a few days ago. They immediately started developing what kinda just looked like scrapes and scratches on their face. After a couple more days we found that they had been infected with impetigo! Got to spend most of my day waiting at a hospital getting them a cream cure. Pretty much paid 20 dollars to have my kids grab a disease in a incredibly over crowded place. Cleanliness needs a reality check at this establishment. I have taken my kids to Mc Donald's Play Places far more disgusting and never had an issue. (Of course dragging them out once I found out how gross they really were.) if your going to charge for a play ground make sure it's maintained. I will say that the staff was very helpful and kind so they get five stairs

This place is pretty fun but really overpriced. If you do play for two kids and meals for two kids and two parents, you're easily looking at $50. The food is just ok, nothing special and not worth the price. Also when we went they had a skeleton in the play area (for Halloween) and it was completely freaking out my three year old. She wouldn't play so her admission fare was a total waste of money. We went once and did not eat, I felt like that was easier on the wallet). I really don't think we will ever be back.

What a fun, awesome place to take your little ones! A few keys to having a great time would be to go early (gets really packed as the morning progresses), wear comfy clothing (something that will really let you move) and don't be afraid to follow your little one anywhere (feel like a kid as you crawl through those tunnels and shimmy through tight spaces - - all are plenty sturdy for the sturdiest of adults). Have patience in the great cafe, grab a free locker and enjoy an entertaining few hours of silliness and fun!

I took the two boys I nanny here on a weekday afternoon. Perhaps because of the time of day, I was able to find street parking right up front and found the place only half full, which was nice. I was first struck by how friendly the staff were. It was our first time and the lady was very welcoming and explained how everything worked. The kids had a blast and also appreciated the free cups of cold water. I think it's great that the entry fee is good for the whole day, in case you need to leave, but want to return later. Although I didn't order anything, I was impressed to see that they had lots of options for meals, snacks and drinks, including espresso. Plus, they have free wifi, places to plug in a laptop if needed and TV, (I watched the USMNT in their first match while the kids played.) I also liked that parents/caregivers are allowed to go in the play area with the kids, free of charge. Just make sure you have socks ahead of time!

Amazing! First: If you are not coming here with a child then this place will not be good for you. But if you are coming with a child this place will be GREAT for you!!! Warning: dress cool because it is hot in here and on top of all the climbing you will be doing you will thank me later. Came here on a Wednesday night. I think it's the first it second week of them being open. There was just one other family there and they left 20 minutes or so after we got there so we has the place to ourself for the 2 hours we were there. Whoop whoop!!! So that being said the staff was still trying to figure everything out and I hope that will get worked out before their grand opening. But the play area is HUGE! My son is 17 months with zero fear and was climbing and wanting to do all the slides himself. They have a fun ball room but I can see it being very dangerous for little kids when it's busy. There is a toddler section but if you have a kid like mine they won't last long in there. There was a fun interactive floor area that they could play video type games with either stomping or kicking. We ordered food and I was surprised by the selection compared to other play cafes. We had the hummus plate which was huge! And also tried the buffalo and the batt paninis and they were both very tasty. They do serve beer and wine which will be nice when my son is older and I don't need to crawl/climb in the space with him. Like most family/kid activities I'll be avoiding it on weekend and holidays but at $5 during the week and $7 on the weekends for my kid to play and free wifi I think we will spend a lot of rainy Seattle days here. It's in the city so like most places parking can be tricky especially with the daycare next door and a funky loading zone.

An adult's nightmare, a kid's paradise. I brought my 3.5-year old and he had a blast running around for about 3.5 hours (with a snack break). It took him about 20 minutes to get comfortable with the structure as it is a bit intimidating for a young child but as soon I walked around with him inside the structure (tight squeeze but yeah most adults can definitely fit ... I'm by no means a small guy) for a little bit he immediately acclimated and was off running around. A lot of other reviewers keep pointing out that they don't come here on weekends. Well, I was here on a Saturday afternoon and it certainly is crazy but whatever, this place is for kids, not parents. I think the loud noise and chaos actually add to the fun for the kids. Imagine a playground full of kids screaming versus a playground with just a handful of kids. Sure, kids can have fun even alone in a playground but it sure is more exciting with all that noise. The food prices are a bit high and the lines long but, as someone else pointed out, considering how cheap it is to get in ($7 for all day), the extra food cost is fine plus they don't seem to have problems with people bringing in their snacks so if you're really going to whine about the food prices then just pack your own lunch. I'll definitely be back or, more accurately, my kid will be back (I'm just the driver) ...

After coming here for the 2nd time I gotta knock off 2 stars from my previous 4 star rating. The girl who checked my kids in and took our order wasn't friendly and very welcoming at all. We ordered the honey BBQ chicken wings and they were cold. Ew. Food is below mediocre and way over priced. May not be coming back because my experience this time wasn't as enjoyable as the last.

I have an active 16 month old and had heard good things about this place from a friend. Wish I could recommend this to my friends with toddler age kids, but the service is so backwards. After reading some other reviews I see it's not a fluke that there was only one very long line for both food and check-in. An impossibly long line is the last thing a parent with an energetic little kid wants to deal with when arriving at a playground. Especially since there seem to be plenty of employees and cashier stations. I give two stars because the idea is awesome - if your kid is older maybe it doesn't matter as much. But asking parents to juggle a squirmy toddler while standing foot to foot for 30 plus minutes makes this place a bust for those of us with little ones.

My very active 2 1/2 year old daughter and I love coming here on weekday mornings. I feel so lucky to have a schedule that allows this...I think coming on weekends might be absolute chaos. I probably wouldn't come on a Saturday just knowing what Friday mornings after 11 are like. That being said, there's really no issues with parking, I pack water cup for her, buy a fantastic Stumptown latte from the coffee bar and get to climbing! For those complaining about the cafe prices, you do realize they don't make any money by charging $5 per toddler for all day, right? They either raise the price of admission or up-charge the food. Be ok with it. Also - to you parents/nannies who drop your kids at the entrance and then "retire" to get some work done, check your emails, etc....No judging here, trust me. But check in from time to time, ok? Your child may want you to play with them! Put on your workout clothes and climb in! Also, your child might be a little a-hole. Not judging on that either. Some parents won't tolerate it and will correct your child for you, or, as I've seen, march him or her out to you for you to handle. Let's all have fun, ok? Pros: Diverse activities (climbing, sliding, balancing, crawling, dancing, etc.) as you navigate the gym area. Multiple play levels, accommodates a LOT of kids! Cleanliness Safe environment (padded structures, one entrance/exit, sturdy construction for adults to climb too) Great menu including a "dollar menu" of snack items (grapes, string cheese, etc.) Cons: Parking can get tight after 10ish on weekdays. Lighting is a bit dim in the back sections of the structure making it hard to see your child from the outside At times, some of the kids can get wild in there unsupervised. If you have a littler one, keep an eye out for rowdy/rougher players.

We been coming here for about a year and really like it. I guess that I just have low expectations for places like these. Is the service amazing? No but it's good enough. Is the food fabulous? Nah but it's good enough. Let's be real. You come here to have some pizza and wine with friends while your kids run like crazy people and crash for the evening.

The staff keeps the facility nice and clean, and I was especially appreciative to see the staff remind kids of the rules as needed. The idea of parents sitting back and relaxing is good, but we found that we really needed to keep a close eye on our 3 yo since the bigger kids were tearing through there quickly and were mostly supervised from afar. The cost per kid was reasonable ($8/kid for all day with in/out privileges) especially for such a clean indoor play space in rainy Seattle. The food and beverage was priced high (perhaps to balance the low price of admission). We paid $26 for 2 kids plates and one small hummus/pita/veggie appetizer.

We took our daughter (3) here for a birthday party and she had a BLAST... for about an hour. The big kids play are is clean, the slides are fun and the staff is very friendly. The little kids play area is purgatory -- totally lacking in amenities or fun and empty. Word of Warning: adults, do not wear jeans on the slides, you will screech down slowly. Next time, I am wearing sweat pants! So FOUR STAR rating for the play area. The dining experience is less than desirable, the day we were there it was total chaos and other parents say its just the way it is. The pesto panini was messy, the chicken strips (in the panini) were chewy and the bread fell apart. It took forever for coffee to be made. Lemonade was delicious. Overall food tab was expensive -- but that is offset with free admission for adults. Once again, the staff was friendly, it was just very unorganized. We'll go again and will likely try the pizza, it seems that's what they are most capable of. I was looking for a "once-a-week" pace, this will be more of a twice-a-year place.

While this children's hotspot is appealing to my nanny kiddos, I don't like the way the employees act towards the guests. From the way they welcome you with unstructured, long lined check ins, to the time in which they speak to you; I'm just not such a huge fan. We've purchased a punch card so in fact are stuck with returning multiple times in the future. I just wish three things: 1) they'd do something with the parking 2) they'd hire or have more people to watch areas/have a line for check in/line for food/purchases and 3) they'd work on their attendants customer service. We've been coming here now since the grand opening & professionalism hasn't improved.

I take my children to Play date SEA once a week and have been coming the last month and a half. I have two kids under 3 and we come first thing in the morning on week days and have a blast. It has never been particularly crowded and most of the kids there are preschool age, so not big enough to trample my toddler. The best part about this is that the play structure is sturdy enough to hold me so I can be up in there with my toddler and crawler and there is enough space for me to maneuver. As they get bigger I won't need to be in there with them, but it's nice to know its big enough to hold an adult if I need to retrieve them. There's also a toddler area for kids under 3 that's nice. We go in there when the kids have sensory overload. I wouldn't take my kids here on a weekend when it's crowded and loaded with school-age kids, but it's the perfect spot to get some energy out when it's cold and rainy on a weekday. I've had the food and the dishes we like best are the pizza (seriously - not bad!) and the green bean fries. My least favorite are the pretzels and wraps. My only complaints are that there are no parking and no defined age policy. Street parking is rough and made worse by construction. One employee suggested parking at REI but I don't want to schlep my kids that far. Also, I wish they'd make a policy that kids under 1 are free, like at most play places and children's museums. Employees never know whether or not to charge me for my baby. But I bought passes and that's definitely the way to go. Overall, I love this place and think its brilliant. The kids always take long afternoon naps after a visit. The food is decent. Heck, even I love the slides. It's a win.

UPDATE: These guys sued an older establishment that had the same name, and forced them to change their name by threat of lawsuit. These people are scum of the earth and do not deserve your money. Go elsewhere! Looking for a relaxing place to get a cup of coffee or a bite to eat while the kids play? Go elsewhere. This place is hectic and disorganized, and the staff are rude. Once you find parking, get through the ridiculous line and get your kids in, you will be unhappy, exhausted and in the exact opposite kind of environment than the one they advertise to parents. When you walk into the place, all of the play equipment is in the back, so the kids naturally want to head there. But if they dare to follow this natural inclination, the staff will bark at them to check in, which means waiting in a long sloooooooooow line while trying to hold your restless kids at bay. Instead of having a quick check in at front so the kids can go play while you order your food via the counter or table service, you have to wait behind everyone ordering food for everyone in their party, as well as for admission to the play area. Each person in line takes 3-10 minutes, which is an interminable amount of time to a toddler that wants to go play, and to the parent trying to hold them back from doing so. The staff are sarcastic or just useless, wall-flowering while one person takes their sweet time to take all of the orders instead of opening another register or separating admission from food orders. You get the idea that they are sick of the public, but it's their own fault for having such a poorly organized system. Don't bother asking questions if it's your first time. You get an eye-roll and an exasperated reply. Don't waste your time waiting in line to give your money to people who will treat you like cattle. This place sucks.

Decent sized indoor play structure. Clean, safe. It's newish, so everything is pretty nice. They've got a few LED TVs on the walls for football games & beer/wine in the cafe for parents. Cafe has awesome paninis (get the turkey!) and there's comfy leather couches & chairs to relax on. Gluten free options as well. HOWEVER, make SURE you check your bank statement after leaving here... We got not only TRIPLE charged... But all three transactions were diff amounts... One being $3000!! (And no our bill wasn't $30 & someone added extra zeros on accident) be careful!!!! (Or just use cash)

This business is not worth your patronage, especially if you do not live in this area! It could potentially be a great place for visitors to Seattle if a parent is in need of letting their kids run wild and unsupervised. In case you miss the sign upon entry it states "NO OUTSIDE FOOD". My cousin had a misunderstanding about the party room and time it was available for her daughters 2nd birthday and at the last minute she decided not to go with the room rental. The faculty had already offered to keep the cake/cupcakes in the fridge and once the room option was cancelled the cake/cupcakes were brought out to be given to the kids on their way out which caused a FIASCO! This is NOT a place of CUSTOMER SERVICE, neither the owner nor the employees offered any resolutions to any of the discrepancies that were ran into. If you are for making Seattle a better place, appreciate diversity and real customer appreciation for patrons than this is NOT the place for you! Your money will go wasted! You would make better use of your backyard than you could in this place. Save yourself some disappointment. If you don't care to mingle with people of other cultures than your own than this is the place for you! Oh yea and they called the POLICE, because they saw a few kids walking around with cupcakes and said we were trespassing, after we already spent money. Confusing.

I've taken our two boys here (6 and 3) four or five times in the last year and it's a great place for them to release some energy and enjoy playing in the chutes, shooting the foam ball guns, etc. when it's crowded, we have not enjoyed ourselves. However, come in the evening and the place is wide open. Entry fees are creeping up and the food prices are pretty astronomical for the quality which is above average at most. The place is reasonably maintained and they seem well staffed generally speaking. Overall a nice once-in-a-while place, especially off-peak, but the entry cost and food prices are tough to swallow. I do understand they need to turn a profit and rent cannot be cheap in SLU/Cascade. But hopefully they keep things in order with the pricing.

This place is SO MUCH FUN! My first visit was for a birthday party, and both my son and I were hooked. We've been back several times and my son constantly asks to go back. The seating area allows for adults to enjoy themselves while the kiddos run, climb, slide and make new friends. My 4-year old son says "I've loved it!" Delicious food, hot and cold drinks!

Really fun place for kids -- not so much for parents. --Everything is over-priced. --I'm not comfortable allowing my kids to run around a dimly lit play area (that any adult is also allowed to wander into) where I can't see them all times.

  • Hanne A P.

Total blast! Seriously kid heaven. Line to get in is long on a rainy day at lunch time so next time we'll do brunch or late afternoon. Very clean, safe and really awesome fun for the kiddos!
