Super broiled burger stand. Great skins on fries. Fast friendly and a view across the street to the beach. What is not to love?

Colorful menu signs slapped on the wall immediately greet you upon entering. Wide selection of ice creams, smoothies, shaved ice, and a lot more that I can't remember off the top of my head. Service was prompt, helpful, and friendly. Didn't try their burgers and fries or fish and chips; just made a quick stop for ice cream. Will definitely be back!

This place has great classic American food with an awesome ice cream selection too! There is seating along the windows that give an amazing ocean view while eating your meal. Definitely a great little spot for lunch.

Hmm... Trying to come up with words that doesn't make me sound prude... This place is just okay. I have been here years ago, and the service and burger was pretty good. Recently came again (twice) and I was craving for dessert, so we came to this place to get a couple scoops of icecream. The younger gentlemen are nice and really good with people. The older gentlemen (without) the glasses was pretty rude and impatient. We came later that evening and it wasn't busy. The guy asked what we wanted and was short with us. He asked what scoop? What cone? Okay okay okay! It kinda ruined the mood for me. I don't expect great service at all, but his tone and his attitude was not friendly whatsoever. Next time we're going to try the other place next door that also serves up ice cream!

Very nice staff and great location. If you want to avoid chains, this is a good spot. Several other burger places near by that are higher quality but higher priced. Burgers are decent but nothing special.

This is a one stop shop. You got your burgers, your fish and chips, your ice cream. I tried the fish n chips today. The seasoning them use is delicious, but they were over fried (crunchy but a little dry on the inside). They a generous with the tartar sauce. I would ranked this higher if not for the high school students that were at the counter. Very laid back. Very ... Chill. A little too chill. I went from sir to brah in a matter of seconds. Please consider hiring more interactive staff, or train them better. Alki beach is a tourist attraction and I don't want my visitors to think we are as fake as some Southern California areas.

Best burgers in Seattle. The meat is cooked on a flame grill, and there is flavor and smokiness in the patty. Almost every other burger joint, the patty doesn't taste of anything. The bun is also really good and perfectly soft.

I have seen this place lingering as long as I can remember. I think its the memory of better that brought me back. Its not that it was bad, but really everything was frozen or prepackaged. I had a craving for a burger and this place just seemed to tug at me. Reviews said yes. Ok so I came and ordered the king cheeseburger. So here I am thinking that they must certainly make their own patties since its obviously better and cheaper, and instead on the grill went the preformed patty which shrank pretty substantially indicating not the highest quality. Ok I tell myself maybe its gonna be great. So I wait and the order with fries and 3 onion rings was substantial but in all honestly too much food by far so a fail in food costs. Sadly, memories are better than the real thing. Cheeseburger: This is like school cafeteria food. The bacon on it was not cooked to order and it was actually pretty sad looking. Take a look at the pic I posted. So it had some shredded lettuce and mayo. I doubt they cut that lettuce it looked like it was out of the bag. Also they have two push tubs for ketchup and mustard. Seriously you cant fill little squirt bottles? So its not the easiest to dress this. It was greasy, heavy, the bread was cheap and they had processed cheese. That is the biggest crime I think. It just was a sad uninspired low value meal that is a shame because this place is on the beach and facing the sound! It should be gourmet! What the hell its not that hard to achieve a great burger! Disappointing. Onion Rings: Thin and clearly frozen. Pretty tasteless. Again why are you not making these from scratch? Food costs are always much better as is quality using fresh ingredients. Fries: Clearly frozen and probably the best thing I ate. Still they did not season them at all, not even salt. The best time to season something is as soon as it leaves the fryer. So in short this is a frumpy run down place with frumpy run down food. I dont think whoever has this knows anything about cooking or has never trained in any decent restaurants. I dont want to hate on them and that is not my point but a restaurant should be more than reheating frozen cheap food. There is no pride in food here, either in presentation, composition, taste or quality. Everything is frozen including the fish that I saw the other table eating. The batter would be a dead give away. Also the decor is disjointed, old country and just sad like no one cares. This place needs an intervention and sadly its probably not gonna happen. Could you imagine if someone with a palate and vision came into this place and realized the potential of the location? Sadly it is NOT going to happen and this is not a recommendation from me for anyone.

Sunny days are rare here in Seattle... but when they come around, there isn't a much better thing to do than to grab a fresh grilled burger and enjoying some cold ice cream on a waffle cone on the beach at Pepperdocks. This place has been around for as long as I can remember. It was always a great treat as a kid to be able to sit on the beach and eat ice cream, the double scoop was huge then and it's still just as big now. What I love about this place is that it hasn't changed throughout the years. Same great location across the street from the sand. Same big scoops that still melt down and run across your fingers as you feel a little nostalgic. You can sit inside on a rainy day as well and enjoy a burger or enjoy the outdoor seating too. The burgers are no where near the best around but for $6.99 for a burger and fries, one can't really complain. And the huge double scoop of ice cream is the best while walking down the beach. I love this place. And visit it every time I'm over on Alki. I like that it hasn't changed and I hope it doesn't ever.

After doing a Yelp search on Alkai for burgers - we went here! SO glad we did. The mushroom cheeseburger outta this world! What did they do to the meat to have it taste SO good. Quick service. We got to sit outside and look over the Puget Sound view, gorgeous on a sunny aft. I will be back for sure for ice cream someday. And, I hear their Salmon Burger is a great one. Will be back to try that, too! It's super casual, fyi. No waiters just counter service. Probably great for kids.

They have the best cotton candy ice cream. Head here in the summers to enjoy the ice cream on the beach!

  • Clayton J.

Tried about everything on the menu on my three trips. Everything was good, not great. All items were food service and the shake was actually he worst shake I ever had. Good people, decent food, but even if it was on my block, it would be a staple for me.

  • Tiffany S.

Get the waffle cone if you dare. I swear this guy gave me a whole 8 ounces of rocky road. I would have take a picture but the thing was so massive it was about to tip over. I've never tried any of the food but I'm sure it's good. Staple beach food of burgers and fish and chips. All the ice creams are great. Not sure if they're home made but I'd believe it if you told me. Support local businesses! Super nice staff and I've never had a problem with the service.

  • Chris B.

Not bad but did not live up to the hype. The non-fish items seem reasonable but the fish was outrageous. I had to pay extra for onion rings, and I only got five pieces. I do not know for sure but the fish did not appear to be hand breaded which is really the only thing that could justify such high prices. The interior is cute and rustic with really good music.

    (3)
  • John E.

I totally love the onion rings! Also the salmon burger. It's a fillet of salmon grilled and served on a bun with tartar lettuce and tomato. Also the customer service is nice.

Support local!! I live down the street from Pepperdocks & was really disappointed when Alki brought in a chain (Fatburger). Pepperdocks is family run & has great "burger joint" style food! The burgers are delicious, great fries, & onion rings are awesome! I haven't had much else on the menu but they have the standard chicken strips, hot dogs, corn dogs, etc....nothing fancy or amazing, but still good & prices are decent! I also get my kids ice cream here a lot (never had it myself)...huge scoops! Support local!!

Icecream ? yes ! lots of flavors ! burgers ! nom nom nom !!! pepperdock has been here for the longest that i can remember !! and still owned by the same fam everytime ive gone here when they are not super doper busy, ive always had great smiles and great customer service. Ever try their onion fries ? crunchy and not a deep dark oil color. i always come in and try to get a sample of their new flavors of icecream haha like today i had the birthday cake. Next time im going to try their blueberry cheesecake icecream.... mmmmmmmmmmmm. if you ever stop by alki, pepperdock is a spot to check out for sure

  • Cheryl R.

Total greasy spoon, but in a GOOD way. Hamburgers are tasty and hot. Fries are crispy. The dining room is dark and cozy. There is outdoor seating in some small cafe tables, or just get your food to go and cruise across the street to chow down next to the water's edge. Oh, and if you've got little ones in tow, their ice cream is a welcome treat (and pacifier). Not the cheapest, especially not for what it is, but this is Alki. Mark-ups for food are expected.

    (3)
  • Jim B.

We stopped in for a bite to eat. Ordered the fish and chips. It was good fish. Fries were good, not great though. I'd love to give it 4 stars. So why the 3 stars? Crabby guy who took our order. Good food though.

My favorite spot to hit up on Alki. The ice cream is great, everything is pretty cheap too.

I had my first Pepperdocks burger in 1977 after moving to Alki from New Orleans as a diver for a local tug boat company. Now living in the Portland area I will have to revisit this old friend the next time I get to Seattle. It was great then and looks like it has carried its reputation on for some time. Scott

  • Lindsey D.

If I lived in Seattle, I would come here once a week and it's not necessarily because of the food. It's because it's right on the water and the most inviting setting around! Now, this is a good spot to visit on a sunny day and might be a little chilly on a cloudy one. It's a restaurant without many frills but the food is good! You order something such as fish and chips like me and then you take it and eat it by the water along the beach. It's entirely relaxing and enjoyable. The fish and chips were fried goodness and made for a perfect beachfront meal. If you're in the area, stop in for some food and enjoy it on a bench on the beach!

  • Sophia F.

First of all, the food in this restaurant is amaaaaaaazing. Hands down, best burgers and fries i've ever had. The food is great, everything is great except for the service. There are two dudes working, one of them was wearing the seahawks shirt, he was great and polite but the other guy was rude.. apparently, their door should be closed at all time because of their heater inside, I forgot to close it and he went straight to the door and slammed it hard! looking extremely rude and frustrated. Overall, great food and service except for that guy.

    (3)
  • Dana M.

The best fish and chips! Came in here expecting it to be like any other fish and chip place...glad I was wrong...breaded fish was delicious and fries were crispy on the outside and squishy on the inside! Will definitely be back to try their ice cream and burgers!

  • キャリー

There were two guys working and they were extremely attractive (bonus forme, lol). The guy that took my friend's and my order was polite, and our food was finished quickly. We also got ice cream which was reasonably priced. The food was yummy, probably the best burger I've ever had (aside from my mom's, of course), and the restaurant is local, which makes it even better. Definitely coming back--mostly for the food (partially for something else). :P

I love Pepperdocks. They have the best fish and chips and the service is great. My hubby and I have a tradition and go there for dinner every Christmas. Yes they are open! We live on Alki so it's the perfect walk after spending all day with the family and ending the night with the best fish and chips around on the beach.

    (5)
  • Rachel L.

Great old-fashioned casual burger fare. I did enjoy the onion rings and veggie burger! Great for kids and reasonably priced. And it's not a chain...you feel like you're eating real food :-)

  • Ashley D.

This place used to have great burgers a few years ago. Tried one today and it was just blahhh nothing special. Just an average burger you could get at home. The ice cream is always on point though, especially the rainbow sherbet. It's convenient for just grabbing a quick meal or ice cream and walking right across the street to the beach. Go early, on a hot summer day the line is always out the door!

    (3)
  • D P.

Hot outside and you want some ice cream? Pepperdock is the way to go, they have great selection of ice cream for a great price. If you get the waffle cone, they're more then generous with the serving size of ice cream. At Pepperdock one scoop of ice cream translate to two scoops or maybe even three scoops!

Really tasty fish and chips! I came here with a friend who was visiting from out of town. It's not often I make it over to ALKI from downtown but who can resist visiting on a sunny day? ALKI reminds me a lot of Santa Cruz or Catalina. Still with some pockets of NW architecture, I love the beachy, relaxed culture you can find along the waterfront. Having lived in Seattle for nearly 6 years, I'm surprised it took so long to check out Pepperdock, but hey - better late than never, right? The Yelp app suggest I try the fish n chips and seeing the location of the place and the sand across the street, how could I resist? I took the order to go and sat on the steps of the beach to enjoy my lunch with a view. The fish was crispy and the fried batter was mixed with tasty herbs and spices. The fries were good, they packed up a lot of ketchup for us, tons of napkins, and of course, a packet of tartar sauce. I think I'll take my out of town friends here more often! **I didn't try it but they have ice cream too. Perfect for sunny days! Maybe next time.

We were over in west Seattle doing errands when we realised that we were both quite peckish. The boyfriend grabbed a couple of slices across the street. I wasn't quite in a pizza mood so I thought I'd check out this place. It looked a little rundown but it was pretty busy. And since I never judge a place by its exterior, I headed in and didn't mind the wait. The burgers looked and smelled good. I ordered a bacon burger with mushrooms and Swiss with fries on the side. Next time I'll skip the fries, they were just okay. The burger though... THAT was quite good. The bacon was crisp and the mushrooms were perfectly sautéed. I took my burger and sat at one of the few outside tables. The inside tables were all full and the only open table was beside a family that had been brusque with the teenaged counter help. He was friendly despite them and other impatient customers. Standing there waiting for my food, I was amazed at how many people neglected to say please and thank you. /soapboxrantover

The world's BEST mushroom burger - seriously! The mushrooms are fresh (not canned!) just the right amount and flavor of cheese (kind of a swiss/american), the bun is toasted on the grill and slightly crispy inside. My girlfriend also swears they have the best hot dog she's ever tasted. Their fries and onion rings are also done to perfection. The onion rings really do melt in your mouth, YUM! I've eaten at Pepperdock many times and the food is consistently good. I'm thinking the one-star reviews must be from one-time visitors, although as I said, in all of my visits the quality has been consistent. It definitely has that hometown feel as the staff is pleasant and friendly. The restroom cleanliness is kind of hit or miss, and the tables seem to have a stickyish feel to them - even when they have been cleaned. Maybe it's the finish, but still... The restaurant itself is small, and the food is awesome so it is always crowded. Guess that's the downside of being yummy! However, you have an entire beach with tables and places to sit and eat just across the street, so it's not that big of a drawback. When you're in the mood for a perfectly grilled burger, hot dog, or some of the best onion rings ever, give Pepperdock a try. Even if it's crowded, it is worth the wait.

When I'm here, I feel like a girl in the 1950s singing a song about the Boardwalk. So, the burgers: Big. Juicy. Grilled right in front of you. Goodness. I have also enjoyed the hot turkey club--grilled bread, thick turkey, just the right amount of mayo. Perfecto. Large steak fries, soft but crunchy, salted just right. For drinks, they have EVERYTHING you could ever want--a diet rasberry iced tea? Sure! Milk? Strawberry lemonade? Why not!? And of course, all the other normal fountain beverages and bottled sodas/water. Oh yeah... and it's on Alki, with the most beautiful views and light beach wind around you while you munch. Go here for the perfect '50s feel!!

The kids love the ice cream here. Fun cheap beach joint for burger or fish and chips

    (3)
  • Iris G.

After reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to try this place. I ordered the fish and substituted the chips for onion rings. While the batter on the onion rings appeared to homemade from scratch, I wasn't impressed. The flavoring was good, but not enough onion. What did leave an impression on me was the fish. The portions was generous and the batter and fish were fresh and tasty. I'd go back to try other items on the menu if I am in the area again, but I'm not in a big hurry to go back at this time.

  • Kyle R.

Very unhelpful. No one looked liked they wanted to be there working, bad attitudes. Also when I got my one scoop of ice cream, in a waffle cone, he just took a scoop and plopped it on top, leaving the whole cone empty, what the heck!

    (1)
  • Danielle F.

Totally mediocre burgers on par with a drive thru type establishment, but fills a necessary function on Alki - a quick place to grab a bite to take across the street with you to the beach.

    (2)
  • Shanghai N.

The burgers are excellent. They are cooked over an open flame grill, which produces a much better flavor compared to a fast food burger. Also a great view of the beach.

Let me help you out here - I'm gonna lead you right to the breaded mushrooms! Absolutely the best (and biggest!) mushrooms I have ever had. A customer in the restaurant saw them on my table and asked me if they were hush puppies. No, but the mushrooms were so fat they coulda been confused for hush puppies. The ranch dipping sauce was okay, but I went ahead and made my own improvised dipping sauce using the squirt bottles of mustard, mayo and catsup that were on my table. The burgers here automatically come with fries. Typical charbroiled burgers, really nothing more to say than that. The was a foursome at the table next to me. One of the ladies could have just walked out of "Real Housewives of Orange County", with all the bling she was wearing. I don't know why she kept talking to the older woman in such a condescending and loud voice. It was embarrassing. For a burger and fries at scenic Alki Beach, I would say prices are quite reasonable. Ice cream here too.

I used to come here in my teens when the food and especially the milkshakes were great. I don't know what happended though the years, but the milkshakes are terrible. I gave them another chance this summer after the first terrible shake, but it was consistently terrible. So much for long running bsinesses. this one has croaked, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD OWNERS WHO KNWO HOW TO MAKE A GOOD SHAKE AND A GOOD BURGER.

    (1)
  • Kevin P.

This would have been more stars if they hadnt changed the milkshake I like. I used to get the peanut butter chocolate milkshake. Before it was chocolate ice cream with mini peanut butter cups blended in. It was very good. Now it is chocolate ice cream with peanut butter ribbon. I don't know if i am just afraid of change but I did not like this change. Driving to alki just for milkshakes seems less likely now

If I happen to be on Alki and I'm craving for a burger, I come here. The best time to visit is during the wintertime. The crowds are gone and you can actually find a place to sit in their dining area. During the summertime you can wait more than 10 minutes for your order. The line can go outside and if people are waiting inside they're packed in like sardines.

    (4)
  • David C.

I love this place, great food and fast service. Cheaper than red robin and the food is pretty high quality. I definitely recommend the salmon burger. Its not some processed patty its a real salmon filet! A lot of the stuff is handmade as well like the onion rings and mushrooms. Definitely get the mushrooms! Best part is they just remodeled it looks so much cleaner inside and out plus they added another ice cream fridge so even more flavors.

Summer is always beautiful in Alki Beach. One day we got there in Alki with an empty stomach. It was soooo hard to find parking lot. I was kind of tired eating fish and chips so we drive and drive until we saw the sign hamburger. In my mind they should have milk shake. We made our u-turn because the grill hamburger sign was only on their front view. Both the signs on their side view have signage "Pepperdock Restaurant" so as their front view but only their front that has the sign "Grill Hamburger". When we got close to the restaurant they have a loading / unloading parking open yehhh!!! We order our to go cheese burgers, fries, and milk shake and my husband and I both like their food and milk shake which made us want to go back again.

  • Joshua B.

I love Pepperdocks!!!!! The food here great and pretty inexpensive. It was great when I lived on the main drag of Alki, my roommates and I would walk or drive down here to enjoy the amazing views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains and get a great burger with some fries and three of their delicious onion rings. They offer different types of burgers and even a salmon burger that is supposed to be really good. They also have an ice cream bar to take care of the sweet tooth. There are plenty of tables inside but make sure you get there kind of early especially in the summer time, it tends to get pretty busy, plus parking is usually a pain in the ass when it is sunny out. So try to come here on a week day then you wont have to drive around trying to find a spot to park since it's all street parking.

Generally good though not as friendly as Homefront for ice cream. Also, we have been overcharged twice for ice cream. Watch those singles and doubles!

A decent place to grab something to eat while over wandering Alki Beach. For only a few bucks you can grab a burger, veggie burger or chicken sandwich. And they also have the regular beach-type fare of fish and chips. The burgers were actually really decent and mine wasn't too greasy. Also you can grab a whole wheat bun too, very nice. Nothing fancy and nothing fantastic but a decent comfort meal.

First off let's just say I'm pregnant so food and cutomer service is more important now than ever! I was craving a burger and fries with a coke so bad after getting off work my Fiance decided since we live on Alki that we should take a stroll because a lot of my friends have always had great things to say about pepperdock I suggested and of course my honey obliged and ordering was normal but it was packed and we had no where to sit... the only tables open were the ones outside and dirty or were taken. One of the employee's noticed came out and cleaned a table and when we thanked him he simply said " its my job " .... then he told an elderly couple to leave their garbage and he would take care of it... just the best food and the best customer service. We will be back for sure =) Thanks again and I wish we got his name

price/portion ratio: The price for the portion is fair on most items and the portion is filling. The Salmon burger is ridiculously portioned though; it was much larger than I expected! Four stars on my Budget Bites scale. location/parking: The location is easy to find but parking is not, depending on the time of year and time of day. It's right across the street from the main strip of the beach off Alki and so parking can get pretty hectic. selection/presentation: The selection isn't huge and the presentation isn't anything special, but what they do have is all really good. They specialize in burgers and most everything comes with a side of fries. They also carry ice cream which is really nice for the summer considering you're right next to the beach. flavor/quality: Amazing! Imagine a Burger King Whopper, but made with real bread, not the kind packed full of sugar to try to make it addictive. Then imagine what it would taste like coming off a grill at a summer BBQ, with all of the fixings.. It's not a huge, look I can barely fit it into my mouth for a bite, kind of burger, nor is it an exotic ingredient, black market panda burger, kind of burger. What it is though, is it's a really good burger made right; not dry, not messy, and not too oily. environment/ambiance: The environment is nice. Again, it's beach front so the view is spectacular and has a very pleasant comfort foods kind of feel to it. The service is quick but it's an order at the counter, take a number and pick it up when it's ready kind of place. There's no table side service. It's family owned (Korean) and they've been there for a while now and for good reason. Overall, a great place to grab a bite if you're already at Alki parked. Not sure I'd try to drive out and look for parking with no intention of spending time in the area on a sunny day, but they do make an awesome burger. My Budget Bites scale: 5 stars $6 or less 4 stars $8 or less 3 stars $10 or less 2 stars $12 or less 1 star $12 or more

I really don't understand all the high reviews. It's not BAD food, mind you. I've been there twice, and the first time the burger didn't quite hit the spot, and the second time it was a smidge more satisfying. I love me a good mom and pop burger dive joint, so I've been to quite a few. This one, the burgers just don't have the sauce or flavor or whatever it is that makes a mom and pop burger place complete. It's kind of like eating a burger I made at home on my stove-top... It could be just a bit better. The price does make it worthwhile if you want a quick burger and are at Alki. I wouldn't ever make a special trip for it. The menu is basic. I feel like they could have a few specialty burgers to reel me in. I do think I may pop in at some point to try the deep fried mushrooms since that seems to be a thing. Had a shake there the first time... it was ok. Just like most shakes you can get at little ice cream shops like that. I would go to Husky Deli or Luna Park Cafe before here for a shake. Ambiance: I don't know where people are getting this "beach shack vibe" from. Yes, you can see Alki out the window. Views nice. Sat outside the second time, and liked the feel of sitting outside on a sunny day with Alki for the view. I'm wondering if some reviewers are overcome by the location and would not rave about the food if this were up on Delridge or something. Also, not a ton of seating.

My boyfriend and I went to the Pepperdock last night on our hunt for the best fish and chips in the city. These definitely weren't them, but we had a pretty decent dinner nonetheless. We both went with the 2 piece fish and chips. The fish itself was pretty good. Very thick and tasty inside the breading. One of the few panko breadings I've really liked (I usually prefer beer batter). The fries, however, were quite plain and really did nothing for the fish. I added a lot of salt to them to give them some flavor. The tartar sauce was unfortunately some of the worst I've had. Very mayonnaise-y with very little dill or lemon flavoring to be found. The staff was nice and our order was prepared pretty quickly. The place itself seemed a bit dirty (our table was covered in crumbs and the salt and pepper shakers were sticky), but the kitchen looked quite clean. While the food was okay overall, I definitely wouldn't make a special trip to West Seattle just to visit the Pepperdock. However, I do love that it's on Alki. It was relatively nice weather during the time we were there and I can easily see that place being very popular on a sunny summer day! They have some great looking cones and milkshakes that I'd want to try next time if I happened to be in the area.

I love this place! Mainly because the food is made fresh after you order, the Shroom burger and fried mushrooms are the truth and YES i love mushrooms so this may be the main reason why i keep coming back for more. Possibly the best burger joint to eat at on Alki, hands down! Dont get me wrong tho there all a whole lot of burgers made fresh to choose from. Not only is there food delicious, but there customer service and ice cream is on another level, lets just say your getting a bang for the buck with the humongous scoop they give which is AWESOME!

I grew up on the southwest side of town and am glad to see Pepperdock's as one of the few places on Alki that have not been taken over by new development. The restaurant has a little beach shack feel that is hard to find many other places in the city (although you can't forget their wonderful neighbors, Spud's). The burgers are tasty and they have a good menu on all fronts, including standards like fish or chicken and chips. But a trip to Pepperdock's isn't complete without their very own fried mushrooms with ranch dip. This delicious side brought me into the world of mushrooms for the first time, and has since converted several of my previously mushroom-hating friends. Not lunch time? Stop in for a milkshake or ice cream cone. This varied menu makes Pepperdock's a great (albeit crowded) stop for your day at Alki during the summer as well as a nice eatery with a waterfront view when it's cold and gloomy out.

I love this place! I almost gave them 5 stars, but I'm not quite that generous. The food here is really good and I just love the setting. When I was little I always used to get the huckleberry ice cream. Great place for kids. Usually pretty quick service even on the busy days.

I love this place. I don't understand how people can give it a 1 or 2 or even 3 stars. Reason why this place is awesome : 1. Outdoor seating on Alki Beach 2. Good customer service 3. Food isn't made til ordered 4. Quick serive 5. Fresh Food 6. Food taste awesome 7. Not overly greasy 8. Atmosphere is awesome 9. Cheap, but doesn't taste cheap 10. Lots to choose from This place is a family own business and the family is really nice. If it's your first time stick with the most popular; Duluxe Cheese Burger or King Cheese Burger. The burgers are not too greasy, so you don't feel sick after you're done. It also comes with fries. The fries are thick and cooked with care. So tastey. Try it with ketchup and mix in splashes of Tabasco. ( The classic taste with a kick. ) Do yourself a favor and try some the these burgers. Your taste buds will thank you. One of the best on town.

Why are there so many great reviews for this place? I had a cheese burger and it wasn't even average, it was so poor in quality I was only willing to eat about half. If I was forced to compare this burger to another I'd say it is slightly better than a Deluxe at Dick's, and I think Dick's is disturbingly bleak. The Pepperdock appears to me as a pure tourist destination. I strongly suggest to anyone planning on eating at Alki beach to bring their food with them. I'm assuming maybe the ice cream is why so many people like this place, but I didn't have the ice cream.

This is the best fish and chips I have had in Seattle. It is in a more remote spot that my friend took me to because I "would probably never make it over there otherwise". He was right and boy was I glad he took me. Good little spot. We got some greasy grub and ice cream. It all hit the spot, and the prices were reasonable. Sorry Ivar's this place is better.

We stopped by to get ice-cream for the kids. It said $2.00 for each of the ice-creams they had chosen. We go to pay for them and the guy...the manager that is, rang one up for $3. When we asked him about that he said - "Oh he said we just changed the price on that!" We told him he needs to charge what it says. So he comes around the counter extremely angry (such good customer service, especially for a manager) and changes the price in front of us. We still tell him that he has to charge us what it said. He had our $5 in his hand, debating whether to give us back our dollar. So then he THROWS the dollar at us and we have to catch it! Is that ridiculous or what! He really didn't give a darn how he treated us and it didn't phase him that what he did was inappropriate and unethical. We asked who he was and he is the nephew of the owner, the lady, his aunt, who is usually cooking is the owner. So there really is no one to tell about this experience. We have been there several times for burgers and shakes, and it's decent. But good grief why should we return now after that uneccesary exchange?

This is what Seattle needs more of. Little family run burger places where the burgers don't cost $15. You can get a burger, fries and a soda for well under $10 after tax and tip. I don't give it 5 stars because it wasn't the best food I have ever had, and I can think of a few other small burger places I would prefer, but the food is good enough to go back, and the scenery is unmatched in the area. I could easily see myself venturing back to Pepperdock with friends more often than not.

I've checked in here more than a few times on my iPhone... might as well review this place. It's a Korean family-run restaurant. Pretty low-key. They have a number of dishes that are common in bar/grill restaurants. Fish & chips, burgers, salmon burger (pretty damn good), onion rings, fries, etc. They also have an assorted selection of gourmet ice creams, which I haven't tried yet. But talking to a few teenagers who drool over the cooler, the word on the street is that their ice cream really IS good. But I can't fathom getting ice cream that are flavored like bubble gum, cotton candy... Good burgers. They toast the buns hard enough that the buns actually hold the shape of the burger firmly! NICE! No soggy drippy burgers. The price is right... for something right on the beach.

I'm a West Seattle native who adores Pepperdock's King Burger and loves-loves-loves the onion rings that come with it! The ice cream isn't bad either. Bonus...they have very reasonable prices unlike most of the so-so places on Alki. I'm reluctant to write this review because Pepperdocks can be very busy at times but.....well..... Go there and be pleased!

Situated on wide sidewalks, bike/skate path, and ride along the beach roadway is this good eatin' place. If you saw the movie Sleepless in Seattle this place is on the road Meg saw Tom and son playing on the beach. But enough about Meg Ryan, I had the bacon cheeseburger with a generous helping of home cut fries and 3 seasoned onion rings plus a Coke for about 9 bucks. My girl had the chicken & chips for 7 bucks. So for less than a 20 you eat well. The inside was down home solid wood floors, solid wood chairs and tables. Everything about this place screamed with invitation. The staff are polite and the bathrooms were clean. Park yourself right by the front window and not only will you enjoy the food but the beach view and people watching as well. I highly recommend a visit, you'll definitely return.

Feeling like paying little for some quality fish and chips with big portions? This is it! Good food, good prices and awesome view of Alki and the ocean! Oh and they have a huge selections of ice cream too!

Prime location. Friendly owners. Delicious burgers and reasonable prices. To me, Pepperdocks is part of the Alki Experience and it will always be a favorite for those days when I have the munchies!

I SCREAM FOR ICECREAM!!! Since I was fresh out of highschool this was the place we'd grab our bites while hanging out at Alki Beach with friends all day long because we had nothing else better to do. And here I am surely creeping towards being 30 and I still enjoy the spot. I'm not much of a hamburger person but there are other items here to order then a hamburger, like ICECREAM!!!! i scream for ICECREAM!!!! definately craving for Bubblegum Icecream right this minute.

Went there on a recommendation. It is in a great locatio. Especially on a nice day. The food was good. Order the fish and chips. Make sure to save room for the ice cream ( the cotton candy flavor rocks! It's cool looking too) The only thing I was disappointed with was the onion rings. They are homemade and would think that would give them an edge up. NOT at all. Greasy! Stay away from the onion rings NOT everything else. Great food at good prices. Now that is rare.

  • Becky K.

Hmmmm, when I want a good burger, I just take a walk to the Pepperdock (well if I am at home). Nothing pretentious, and the food is good. There fish and chips are very good as well. Just be careful when you special order (especially if you want to leave something like mayo off) because they seem to forget and put everything on it, but they are always friendly. The food is good, and pricing is probably the best you'll find on Alki.....

    (5)
  • Ronnie A.

Friendly little family owned hole-in-the-wall place. Hands down the best fish and chips I have ever tasted, and the onion rings are so good they should be illegal. The burgers are fresh grilled and juicy, and taste like a burger from an old fashioned backyard barbeque. My favorite place on Alki.

  • Patrick C.

This place is outstandding!! Definitely one of the best places to have a Burger on Alki. Have been coming here for years now and I can't get enough of their food. Would have given five stars but the wait can get a bit crazy in the summer time and they're closed on Wedensday.

    (4)
  • Madge K.

A Pepperdock grilled cheese, fries, ketchup and a diet coke. That was my favorite summertime meal a couple of summers back. I would either get it togo and eat it on the sandy beach, or pull up a chair and enjoy it from inside the comfortable diner. It sometimes gets sweaty in there and the windows fog up with condensation from the grease friers. It's wonderful. I'm always surprised that there aren't more "high-end" or even franchise-type restaurants on that Alki strip, but it's a good thing because who really needs that? When it's a hot summer day all ya need is a slightly greasy meal served on a piece of red checkered parchment paper in a plastic basket by friendly, hard-working people. And that's the Pepperdock.

  • Chris L.

Some co-workers had recently invited me to join them for lunch at this Pepperdock place on Alki. I thought it was weird as I lived in West Seattle for some time and could not figure out what they were talking about. When we pulled up, I realized where we were going...and I had always steered far from Pepperdock. It was a case of "judging a book by its cover" and not something I am proud of... Yes it looks sketchy on the outside...but once I took my first bite of the King burger...I was hooked. Pepperdock's fare is not gourmet, but it is delicious. I would choose a burger from this joint over Red Mill's over-hyped and over-priced options any day. Pepperdock, I will be back.

  • Jason A.

I'm reviewing it in the context of a fast food restaurant, not a fine dining place. It does fast food style burgers VERY well. Almost perfection. FLAME GRILLED beef, toasted buns, very crispy fries and outstanding onion rings. The Koreans in general have a cultural obsession with grilled beef and the Korean owners of this place are no exception. When I'm in the mood for a near perfect fast food style burger, I go here. Love the fries and rings too! For a higher end burger go to Jak's in west seattle.

Gotta give them two thumbs up for their fish n chips! If I was Goro (a character from Mortal Kombat the game and movie) I would give them 4 thumbs up. That means their fish n chips are better than Ivars!! Their burgers and fries are OK. But will definately be back for their fish n chips Parking on a sunny day - Good Luck! It's all street parking, they're located on Alki Beach.

I'd say Pepperdock is A-Ok first and foremost because it's across the street from Alki Beach and everybody knows how important Location Location Location is. My aunts who owned a small restaurant for a long time would call this a "greazy spoon" and I call it a "burger dive" all in a heart-felt good way because greazy spoons and dives usually have soul. Getting a Pepperdock burger, fries, and malted shake on a nice spring and summer day is an indulgence that makes me smile. Often I stop in during warm days and get ice cream on a big ol' waffle cone. And these little pleasures are worth a lot. And an honest little neighborhood business is supported. So come on down to the beach and get a burger :) Just don't litter while you're down here. I really hate that.

  • John B.

It's a hole in a wall, with excellent food. Everything is fresh, and prepared well. Tried their spring rolls today, and was very impressed! My 'usual' is the king burger basket - deluxe burger with fries, and they toss on 3 onion rings just for a yummy treat. The onion rings are awesome. The onion part is paper thin so you don't get a fat slimy onion hanging out, they are covered with panko(?) or something like that, making them light and yummy. One of my favorite parts - they have coke on tap, but they also have Pepsi products in cans if you're not a coke fan. Give it a try!

i love this place. seems like it's family-owned, the food is decent, and nothing beats sitting down on a rare, sunny seattle day on alki beach with a burger, shake, and fries. best part? they always sneak one of their delicious onion rings in with your order of fries. hell yes.

  • nadia R.

I love old school, hole in the wall, family run joints like this. I ordered the salmon burger and I must say it was really excellent. This wasn't a costco-bought, processed, frozen, then deep fried salmon patty. It was a rather generous piece of fresh salmon, perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the fries weren't bad either. If only I could end the review here... Unfortunately while I was waiting for my burger I noticed one of the line cooks handle fries with his bare hands, one - ouch, two -yuck! Hopefully the owners/workers read this and find out their patrons can totally see their unsanitary food handling procedures and put a stop it. If it weren't for this fact I'd give them 5 stars.

Great cheeseburgers and crispy crunchy fries. Place is greasy spoon...not the cleanest spot in town. Food prevails though

  • Kelly M.

I want to like Pepperdock. It seems to be a family run business and they seem earnest and nice and the service has been friendly. That being said, the burgers are greasy and bland and the fries are nothing to write home about. I got a hot dog here once that was pretty decent though and their milkshakes are good but there is much better tasting food to be had elsewhere. The restaurant itself seems kind of run down, not the quaint sort of run down either.

  • Melissa G.

This really is a great place to go if you're looking for a perfect burger with a cheap price. I like the neighborhood feel that goes along with it. The burgers are perfect for a hang over with out feeling sluggish after you eat one. Onion rings there are exactly how I love them too. I love it here cause we can take a walk with the dog up Alki on a Sunday morning and stop off here before heading home - the outdoor seatting is convenient when you have your four legged friend along with you. I will admit, it is not as good as some burger joints in San Antonio but it does come pretty close.

  • Jeff G.

This the kind of place you really root for when you see it. They've got burgers, hot dogs and Ice Cream, it's on the water and it's 2 blocks from my house. That should make it a slam dunk right off the back, but the burgers are dried out overcooked things. The french fries and onions aren't any better than something I'd get in the freezer section of the store and the Ice Cream isn't made on site and the selections aren't all that excieting(They do make a decent chcolate malt). Aside from that it looks like the place hasn't been cleaned since sometime in 1974.

    (2)

There really isn't anything exceptional or noteworthy about this place. The burgers are nothing to rave about and are kinda small for the price.

  • Rick B.

A fellow Yelper invited me to lunch today. She recommended this place to eat, and I'm very glad she did. Coming from the South, I love nothing more than a good, greasy burger. This place hit the spot. It was packed with beachgoers getting ice cream, as it is conveniently located right across the street from Alki Beach. The mushroom cheeseburger is to die for, as was recommended to me. The malts are pretty good as well. If you're down on Alki getting some sun, or just out for a stroll, stop in here to grab a bite. You WONT be disappointed.

Cool little spot right across from the beach. Food is decent (not out of this world amazing, but definitely tasty), outside seating and it was ready pretty quickly. Cheap prices as well.

Now run by a Korean family, this place has burgers that rival Red Mill, and the fries are some of the best in town. Years back this was quite a dump: bad burgers, dull employees, clear signs they had a rat problem. Now, very tasty burgers, super tasty fries, nice ice cream shakes, and no signs of rats. I do worry a little about the mayo bottles just sitting out all day (they need a little tray of ice to keep them cool), I also liked it better when they sold Husky deli ice cream. oh well.

Truly the BEST burgers on Alki Beach. The fries are great and if you order a combo you get a cheeseburger, fries and three onion rings. The onion rings are deep fried in something good, I honestly couldn't figure it out, but i liked it! The service is beyond medicore. I called one day to see what time they opened and all i got was, "what? what? We are open NOW!" slam! Doesn't matter too much though. I don't go there for service. It is a great place to people watch and the last time i went there i sat in the back part of the joint and there were balloons and banners exclaiming, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It wasn't my birthday but when i bit into my burger is sure felt like it!

  • Jackie R.

The food is overpriced for what it is and it seems as though everything inside the establishment is constantly sticky. Its right on Alki beach, and yet the interior is so dark you almost forget it borders a bright and sunny local beach hotspot. I usually only go here once a year to see if things have improved, but after my meal i quickly remember why i only go once a year.

Food is mediocre at best, greasy tables and chairs, dark decor, poor service, no kids menu. When I told the owner the ice cream had bad freezer burn he said , "what do you expect....this has been sitting here since last season". Well, I guess you gotta appreciate his honesty ;-)

Good place to eat! This hole-in-the-wall reminded me of a steady beach joint. Pepperdock is strategically located on Alki Avenue which strings along beautiful Alki Beach. They even had nifty 80s music that nostalgically reminded me how old I am! The special of the day was a salmon burger. I wasn't in the mood for anything greasy or fatty, and although I thought the salmon burger might only be slightly less fatty than a burger, I was pleasantly surprised to find a huge portion (7 or 8 oz?) of terriyaki salmon nestled on a warmly toasted hamburger bun. Although it was the most expensive item on their menu at $8.99 - I thought this was a pretty good deal with the combo of french fries.

i have known about pepperdock since i was a kid...maybe differnt owners.....but same great food. their bacon king burger beckons me back time and time again. i love the home style french fries....and they give three onion rings with your order!!! now that's a great combo. ice cream is very good.....and it's one of the only places that i know of that has corn dogs on the menu. A+++

Whenever I go to Alki, I like to pretend I'm in a totally different place altogether...it just doesn't feel like I'm in West Seattle, or Washington for that matter-it feels like southern California. And whenever I go to a beach in southern California, I make it a point to get some sort of nasty, greasy meal to eat while I'm crisping in the sun. Point being: the Pepperdock satisfies that particular need. It's your typical burger joint with all the fixings. Burgers, fries, o-rings, shakes, ice cream, sandwiches, etc. I was especially intrigued by the 'shrimp burger.' I just don't quite know how I feel about that. I like to get the 'King Burger Deluxe' (or something like that). You get a cheeseburger, fries, and a few onion rings, and it won't put you back more than 5 buckaroos. The restaurant looks a little dingy from the outside, but rest assured it is clean on the inside. Overall a great place to get a burger, fries, and a soda so you can walk a few feet and park yourself in the sand and stuff your face.

We were looking for some place to have lunch besides all the usual West Seattle suspects. I remembered reading about Pepperdock on Yelp and we decided to try it. I was a little worried when we went in. It seems like a scary place to eat from the rundown outside and the western style wood tables and chairs inside, but actually I was pleasantly surprised. The menu has odd additions like side orders of egg rolls, but we had the burgers and they were quite good. The burgers are charbroiled just like the sign says out front. They cook them right there behind the register. The buns were toasted and hot as well. Burgers came with cheese, tomato, pickle. lettuce and mayo and fries for like $6. Quite a deal these days. The king burger also comes with three onion rings, which were crunchy and not greasy at all. I would definitely come to Pepperdock again. Burgers are thin more like a Kidd Valley burger, but much more charbroiled flavor. I do wish they would make this place a little more appealing, but maybe that is what is keeping it flying under the radar?!

The best burger when I'm in Alki beach, Burgers hit the spot and are tasty, A little dingy but the burgers are worth it. They have mayo for fries if you are so inclined. The kitchen staff have personalities of a wet blanket but they got good burgers!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. It's the epitome of your typical greasy beach spot. They have a bunch of fried things, burgers, chicken sandwiches, fish and chips and a few other greasy fried items I can't remember but I don't go for that. I go for their ice cream it's the best down on the beach, always a line but well worth the wait when you're looking for an icy cold treat while hanging out on the beach. Grab a cone or get a shake than continue to walk down Alki it makes for a great evening trust me on this one.

this place HAS to be in the most perfect location. right smack in the middle of the strip, where all the people really hang out and socialize. Pepperdock is historical... it's been there for so long, everyone knows where and what it is. the food is delicious, the pricing is fair, and people watching is so much fun!

yesterday we went here for some ice creme. the day before we went here for some burgers. the burgers were great, and it has a nice beach side feel. it even has a bike rack in front! i have been here maybe four times now, but this was the first time i tried the burgers, which come with lettuce and tomato and are a reasonable price. you get to add your own ketchup and mustard, and even extra mayo if you want! i got extra pickles..oh, and both times we went there this weekend, Ben got a MALT. they take a little bit, but they ARE malts. sit in front if you like to laugh at little kids doing the "Ice Cream dance" in front of the case.

  • Mark B.

The burgers here are pretty standard stuff. I ordered the "King" burger and was a bit surprised when the burger was of average size with a very thin patty, probably one of the thinner 'factory" patties I've seen on a burger. The veggies, cheese, and bacon were decent and are what contributed to most of the flavor of the burger. The beef patty seemed to only occupy space. Ultimately, I left wanting more from the burger. I probably won't be back. Location-wise, it's a great place to eat being near the beach scene. The interior has a certain charm, though, it might repel those of you that like a bright super-clean interiors.
