Great bagels, but didn't like the cream cheese.

So so bagels but at least they were cheap and quick.

This place was Awesome =) Ambience: quaint and very urban. Food: the Nova Lox Smoked Salmon bagel was really good. Price: Really reasonable, especially considering it's proximity to the market. Service: They were pleasant and helpful. Overall: 5 (in comparison to other bagel places)

Came across Market Bagels while walking around near pikes place market. Just about everything was closed, Do to it being Christmas day. Daughter and I decided on bagels for breakfast. I had a toasted poppy seed bagel with cream cheese and lox. Coming from New York I got spoiled as it is very rare that you find good bagels of any descent quality outside of New York. With that said Market bagels were among the best bagels I have had anywhere, Including New York. Fast and friendly service. small store but had descent amount of seating. If you are looking for really good bagels, Then this is the place too go.

Stopped in here for a quick but hearty breakfast to go on Sunday before jetting back to Portland. I timed it right, because there wasn't much of a line when I arrived. With a huge selection of bagels its was hard to pick so I settled on the everything bagel with swiss, ham and egg. After 5-10 minutes the food arrived and it was good. The bagel was fresh and flavorful, hints of garlic, onion perfectly paired with fresh honey ham and a hefty dose of egg. For less then $4 bucks I was very very pleased and my appetite was quenched for the long ride home. I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great bang for your buck in the expense Pike Market area.

I was in Seattle for the day and wanted to try Biscuit Bitch but it was packed and I wanted to sit down. Settled on Market Bagel. Plenty of seating. Fast friendly service. Food was very good. Only down side was they did not have decaf coffee.

Umm. Let's go back a little. They don't open until 8 am. Strange but true. We had gotten up early to hit the Original Starbucks in the Public Market, and wanted some bagel to go with the coffee. A small grouchy Asian woman pulls up in a car and unloads many bags of something. We asked what time she opened and she yelled something at us several times. We found it mildly amusing. Obviously the customer service will be interesting. And obviously these bagels are not THAT authentic. But now we were hooked. I wanted to see just how badly we would be treated inside, after being yelled at on the curb before we even spent our money. Being from NY/NJ, finding an "authentic" NY Style bagel was tempting. But it was a dream not to be had. The bagels were "eh". And her hubby was more than happy to serve us with a smile. I felt kinda ripped off when he appeared at the counter and we didn't get to be berated again for asking a question. The veggie spread was so-so. It was breakfast. They will do fine because that is one sweet location.

I "had" a plain bagel with eggs in it, it was terrible. The texture of the scrambled eggs was abnormal; It can be compared to the texture of cooked cabbage. I had two bites then threw it away because it was really not edible.

Stopped by for a quick to-go bagel. They have such a wide selection of bagels and cream cheese that its really hard to make a choice. I finally ordered a pesto bagel with sundried tomato cream cheese and it was every bit as delicious as I had expected - a soft bagel topped with liberal amounts of cream cheese. Loved their decor and enjoyed the efficient service, even though it was a fairly busy Sunday mid-morning. Waiting to go back to try the rest of their selection

Summary: Small bagels, but decent price. Would go back if it was convenient. Food: Had the tuna salad on everything and the BLT on onion. BLT was disappointing to be honest. The tuna salad saved it though as it was quite tasty. Small bagels (despite their advertising posted on the window) Service: Very friendly man at the counter. Hard to understand but otherwise good. Value: Reasonable deals for a small lunch. If you need larger portions though, it won't suffice. Location: Convenient if you're out walking about, but not so as a destination point. Inside was orderly and clean. Comments: Check out the baked bread bears (display only).

Are the bagels comparable to NYC? What bagel is? This spot will satisfy if you have a bagel craving and while they aren't going to compete with the masters of NYC they don't have to? Because they're not in New York. So for those of you looking for a bagel fix this will do it. Had the smoked turkey on garlic. Yum.

If you like NYC style bagels then this is the place. I was raised in Brooklyn and these bagels satisfy my craving for a traditional New York bagel. Other bagels are good too, but if you want you want the real deal this is the place

We had good service and tasty bagel breakfast. I would recommend it and for breakfast or lunch. We were there in between and got really fast service. The food was good, quality bagels and made into tasty sandwiches.

Stopped in for a quick bite on my walk to work and got exactly what I needed. The bagel was toasted evenly, and the generous helping of salmon cream cheese was on point. I was extremely satisfied and will definitely go back! Also, open before 8. I saw another review complain about that but I stopped by around 7:15 AM

I had a plain bagel w/ tuna salad and it was good - not mind blowingly awesome but satisfactory. My husband ate a plain bagel with cream cheese and lox and was also happy with his order. The decor is peculiar but the location is great and it has a big storefront window w/ a bar to eat at which is great for people watching! I didn't think that the bagels were unusually large as their advertisement suggests but they weren't undersized... It's a cheap bagel place that delivers on giving you a good tasting bagel for little money. Take it or leave it.

I love this place I have been coming here for almost 2 years! They have my order down! I live the French toast bagel !

  • Arthur K.

I ordered the everything bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese. This is my go to order that I always get in order to compare to NYC. The bagel itself was pretty damn good, but the cream cheese was just mediocre. My rating for this place is more of a 3.5 than a 3, but I tend to round down. Also, the bagels are not as big as their sign make them seem to be.

    (3)
  • Sarah L.

Got the bagel with lox on sesame and the egg sandwich with bacon on wheat. The food tasted good, the lox particularly flavorful and the bagel was no stand out but was good enough. Problem was, they made it into a sandwich rather than open faced as God intended, so I only got half the lox I paid for and I feel ripped off.

  • Justin B.

Please do not advertise yourselves as Authentic New York style bagels. I just moved here from NYC and these do not even come close. I know my bagels and I would barely even consider these bagels. I had an everything bagel with cream cheese and my girlfriend had a wheat bagel with cream cheese. Mine was about the size of a Thomas' or Lender's bagel and tasted similar to sourdough and was not chewy at all. My girlfriend's was so small, it looked like a mini bagel. They were kinda hard, which makes me think they aren't fresh. I don't know if they even boil them. The coffee was pretty mediocre at best. I should have known better, but I had my hopes up that this would be close to a NYC bagel. Do not be fooled. I would have given it 2 or maybe even 3 stars had they not advertised it as a New York bagel.

  • Holly S.

The bagels were good, but the service was terrible. I've only been here once, so maybe I should try again. I don't think I will though, as there are are other places nearby that sell bagels just as good or better. I went in wanting to buy 12 bagels To bring to my coworkers. First, I ordered one asiago cheese bagel for myself. Thy charge extra for that one, btw, which makes sense but is kinda unusual. I proceeded to ask about buying a couple bags if day old bagels. The lady behind the counter to me that they do have day ok bagels for sale. I told her I want 12. She looked at her line of about 5 people waiting and said "can we talk about that later. I have people waiting. I can talk about this with you after I take care of them" I was shocked and left. I had just waited inline while she helped some one else buy a large order of bagels (the order took extra long because they kept making mistakes). Now she wants me to wait in line again. Why is time any less important than another customers?

Real deal NYC style bagels, take it from a Brooklyn boy, these are just like back east. Other bagels are good around here but if you know the difference these are the only ones that will satisfy. IMHO

Nothing about this place works. I ordered an egg and cheese bagel. It took 20 minutes. I was not the only annoyed patron. Let's start with that. Here are all the ways that I spotted that could speed up service: 1) Get a bagel slicer. I saw the woman slicing bagels throw out at least three bagels because of a poor slice, which also means she spent time slicing at least three bagels unnecessarily. 2) Move the bagels out from in front of the person taking orders. Every time someone had to grab a bagel (which is, you know, like every order), the order taker had to move. 2b) Alternatively, have the person taking orders pass the bagels to the assemblers along with the order, since they write the order on the parchment paper in which the sandwich is wrapped. 3) If you take people's names, use them to call out orders. I saw at least five orders just sit there with continual repetition of calling out the order because people were listening for their names and the woman shouting the orders was unable to pronounce them. People expect to hear their name, in whatever form, if you ask for it. They do not give their name and expect to hear a hardly sensible version of the order. Therefore, orders got backed up while they tried to get them out of the pick up zone. 4) Have some sort of system to keep orders straight. The number of times I saw one of the order assemblers open every single microwave to check and see whose order was in which was just ridiculous. 5) One person preps bagels, one person preps ingredients, one person assembles and wraps. Have one more person behind the counter to take care of one of these; the constant role switching looked chaotic. I saw bins of things fall (which wasted time trying to pick them all back up) because of the chaos of...putting together bagel orders. After I finally got my egg and cheese bagel, the egg and cheese squeezed out of the bagel on the first bite, landing on the napkin in the bag, which fused to the cheese making most of my order simply inedible. What of it I did manage to get was mostly without any sort of good flavor. I guess at least this place was cheap.

I'm a sucker for bagels, so I decided to give this place a try. Seemed like a good idea at the time... I ordered a toasted everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, capers and onions to go. The girl behind the counter was unfriendly, and made no eye contact with me at all. The bagel was super dry, hard and had very little flavor. There was very little smoked salmon, but tons of onions and capers. My coworker ordered one of their turkey deli sandwiches and had an identical reaction. $7 for a hard, flavorless bagel is expensive. We won't be returning.

Trying to find a breakfast place that everyone likes can be tricky. My dad doesn't much care for bagels but he agreed to try this place. The bagel sandwiches were amazing, the bagels are tasty without overwhelming everything else. Good, hot coffee as well. Everyone, including dad agreed this was a great breakfast stop!

  • Emily-Anne P.

This place seemed like a good idea. It was cute and cheap and I figured I'd have a simple bagel and cream cheese. It was okay but it didn't wow me. The service was good and they have a large selection to choose from but the tables were sticky and I wasn't overly impressed with the whole experience.

    (3)
  • Antoinette S.

Don't order the egg and cheese. You will be disappointed. I can't speak for the other menu items. The bagels themselves are fine, but they managed to muck up a simple egg and cheese, so... Eck. You've been warned.

Being close to the Market buildings, it's easy to debate with yourself on where to go for lunch. I just popped in here to try them out. Nothing stuck out for me except the awesome song I heard on the radio---which I forgot the name of! F*&#$%! I tried memorizing a chorus line, but still... F*&#$%! (it had the vibe and feel of Everybody Wants To Rule The World...) My pan-seared Tofu bagel (sun-dried tomato bagel) sandwich was good and simple, plus the iced OR Chai. The gal was pleasant and the space seems average for a decent deli; exception for the few things like the numerous M's bobbleheads on the drinks fridges.

I'm an east coaster, in Seattle for a few days, so naturally I had to try a West Coast bagel. This place was good. Went with a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich (alas, no Taylor ham) on a pesto bagel. Nothing much to say, other than that it was really tasty. The pesto bagel is dynamite. I would get breakfast here all the time if I was a local.

  • Cathy M.

I got the egg and cheese bagel. The eggs were... airy... and... plasticy? At first I was like, hey, this kind of tastes good. But then... it also tastes artificial. Like it was boiled in water somehow? I wouldn't even know how to recreate it. The point is, it didn't taste like something that was fried on the griddle.

    (3)
  • Zeke Y.

Yummy water boiled bagels, super similar to H & H. The service is really fast and the bagels and lox are the best value in Seattle.

  • Marilyn V.

What a great location for tourists. I wandered in here after seeing the long line at my usual spot, Crumpet Shop. "The only thing unnatural is the size," is their window slogan, but these are far from large. Selection is okay, but not great (maybe 15 flavors?). Not remotely close to a New York style bagel, but what did I expect it's a bagel shop next to the market...in Seattle! There is $3 minimum for CC, otherwise a $0.25 surcharge. The service was quick, if you want to get in and get out, but nothing about this place was fantastic.

  • Ana B.

I wanted a bagel..badly...typical. A stranger to Seattle I was miles away from my normal Sunday morning bagel and coffee haunts. As I zipped by the The New York Style Bagel sign on the bus I knew that was my destination. I could hardly contain myself as I waited for the next bus stop. I rushed into Market Bagels and surveyed my options, I felt my heart sink when I saw the size of the bagel. It was about half the size of a normal bagel. Now..I've never been to New York but something tells me the bagels there are much bigger, feel free to correct my error should this not be the case. I settled on a sun dried tomato bagel with low fat pesto cream cheese and a cup of coffee. The bagel was okay, not at fluffy and doughy as I would have liked. The pesto cream cheese on the other hand was amazing! Coffee was meh, shame are you Market Bagel for serving such coffee in Seattle. I don't think the employees said one word to me, they just nodded and handed me my food. I will say that they were quick and prices were decent for the prime location. Market Bagel is not the sort of place you want to sip coffee and read the paper, it's more of a grab and go. The lighting is low and mixed with the shabby decor it makes for a depressing hang out. In a city so saturated with A+ food, and so close to Pikes Place I suggest you skip this joint.

Okay. So, the bagel purveyor behind the counter (clerk - and I hope he is NOT the owner) was taciturn to the point of being rude. He took my money (cash) and proceeded to compose a sesame bagel with cream cheese schmear, WITHOUT WIPING OR WASHING HIS HANDS. Who does that? Then, like a fool, I went ahead and ordered an "everything" bagel (although I had sort of felt, through the bag, that my first bagel was kinda hard). Long story short... my "everything" bagel was hard and dry and, as I got to the last 3 or 4 bites (I was eating while walking, as I was ravenous), I realized something was "off" (I had already gulped down 3/4 of the bagel. OMG!!! My bagel tasted very "green". It was super-moldy!!! Just to the point that it didn't "look" green, but it definitely tasted it!!! I was already too far along to turn back and do anything about it, so I just chucked the rest of my bagel nosh into the nearest trashbin. Market Bagels left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. NEVER AGAIN!

Needed a quick light lunch so stopped in here for a sandwich. The bagel was pretty good, the tuna salad unremarkable, but edible. Good value.

  • Patrick D.

Updating my review from 2007: Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill in the last year. Are there new owners or did they just decide to start cutting corners to make more money off the tourists? The bagels are now noticeably smaller, and are undercooked - their exterior is a pasty white rather than a nice golden crust. The "everything" bagels seem to have less on them now - really not an everything bagel, and greatly lacking in flavor. Also, on weekends they run out of 80% of their bagel varieties by mid afternoon (so I guess there are still plenty of tourists buying their bagels).

  • Langdon A.

Lox and cream cheese on a bagel from here left me with an upset stomach. To add insult to injury, it didn't taste any good. The bagel had a strange texture, with a decent, authentic crust, but the interior was oddly crumbly. The lox wasn't of good quality, the tomato was overripe, and they put literally about three capers on. So even if the food poisoning was a random occurance (which I'm not sure about), I'd avoid this place.

    (1)
  • J S.

I think these are the only properly-made bagels in all of Seattle. They clearly do the boil-and-bake thing, and have the right texture for what a bagel should be. None of that donut-shaped bread nonsense like everyone else.

I'd give it 4 or 5 stars if I were only rating the food. Based on the most recent customer service I received I'm tempted to give it 1 star, but I don't think it's fair to give a crappy score out of anger from one transaction. I used to frequent this shop several years ago when I worked close to it. Since then I stop by at least once a month. Their bagels are really good -- freshly made and chewy, which is how I like them. I've always ordered the Market Veggie sandwich minus sprouts or the tofu sandwich; both are pretty darn yummers, and everyone I've gone with has enjoyed her or his food. They offer all the standard bagel fixins (cream cheese, hummus, PB&J, etc.), as well as a good-sized list of sandwiches. Up until this weekend, I've always had standard-issue customer service: a greeting, what would I like, your total is X, thank you. This past Sunday, however, I and a couple others stopped by to grab bagels. Nothing time-consuming on their end, just two plain ol' bagels out of the bins and one toasted with cream cheese. Approaching the counter we waited at least a minute before we were even greeted. It wasn't the waiting that was irritating, it was the fact that the older woman who seemed to be operating the cash register was sitting and staring at her phone. She finally looked up and stood, only to stand there and finish typing something on her phone for another 20 seconds. With an annoyed glare, she just stared at us so we placed our order. She rung in the items then stared again: I assume this meant, "Your total is $5.35." We paid and she said nothing, turning back to her phone. "THANK YOU!!!!" I said obnoxiously to her back. No response. "HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!" I said even more obnoxiously as we left, with no response. (/end rant) In sum, Market Bagels has really good bagels, but if you expect some sort of human interaction you may not receive it depending on who rings you up.

On a job interview out in Seattle back in April, I was exploring the city, when I stumbled into this little bagel shop. I had been on a plane for 4 hours, up since 6am, experiencing jet lag, got lost in Seattle, and really just wanted to grab a quick lunch. Since it was lunch, and I was in a bagel shop, you can prolly guess what I ordered... a pizza bagel. It hit the spot. The shop looked like a nice little family owned bagel shop. Nothing too over the top, nothing to sketchy. Just a family trying to make a buck by dispensing bagels.

Yummy yummy yummy. Come here almost everyday to get a freshly toasted bagel. Eat some in the morning and save the rest for lunch. Eat here! Best spot!

Came here one morning after a disappointing breakfast at a busy Macrina Bakery. Got a toasted everything bagel with egg and swiss (melted on top & bottom!) and it hit the spot.

I get the sinking feeling that Market Bagel is a business that is a shell of its former self, hermit-crabbed by some entrepreneur waiting to make it big in lunch counter fortunes. Unfortunately, even though bagels have no corners, it's obvious there's been some cut. The veggies on my bagel sandwich were bland and did not taste fresh, the "Unnatural-sized" bagel itself was a hard croquet, and barely the size of a Dick's cheeseburger bun. And somehow my veggie bagel sandwich secreted some sort of grease. Sides were limited to your basic Frito Lay selection and Coca Cola fountain or bottles. At the end of the day, there's not much value here. I think I'd rather hoof it down to Noah's.

  • Shekinah S.

I stopped in the Market Bagel shop last Sat, lured by the promise of a "Manhattan like" bagel. Not too pleased w/ the results for the following reasons: 1. I wanted an egg bagel -- which any respectable East Coast-ish bagel place should have. No such luck. 2. My pesto bagel wasn't very good. In fact I ate half and left the other half, hoping a homeless person would appreciate it more than me. 3. Said pesto bagel was very dry, which must mean all their bagels are dry, instead of soft and chewy. I don't think I'll be back.

Market Bagels has saved my day a few times. Hungry guys need to be fed- and fast. This bagel shop will produce a good egg bagel breakfast sandwich in about 5 minutes. Choice your meat, cheese, and bagel type- and put in your order. We usually order the everything bagel or onion. FYI's~ * Lunch bagel sandwiches also sold * Outside of bagel is chewy- inside dense and perfect * Tall egg sandwiches= filling

    (4)
  • Mandy B.

I am a fan of this bagel sandwich shop, prices are super cheap - the line always moves fairly quick - & the bagels are always fresh. Egg salad is one of my favorites or a turkey bagel sandwich with all the works! Nothing fancy about this place, just your basic sandwich shop.

Being that it was our first morning in Seattle what better way to start our day with a Bagel and coffee. The miss's found this spot, on Yelp!, and decided that we should get our empty stomachs a good dose of bagels! I don't know why but I was expecting something more. Maybe neon flashing lights? Maybe dwarfs dressed like bagel's taking your order? Maybe like 101 different types of bagels you could choose from? I mean come on.. I just like to me entertained! Well the only excitement or oOoOo was the signage that spelled out BAGELS! I will give them that for being creative. static.px.yelp.com/bphot… I ordered the B.E.C, Bacon-Egg-Cheese, Bagel. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had immediately ate the bagel instead of walking over to Starbucks THEN eating it ::sigh:: Being that the bread already got hard it was still a good bagel. static.px.yelp.com/bphot… I still think this place has room for improvement. Like Flashing Neon Lights while Dwarfs dressed like Bagels taking your order! Hey it's just a thought.

I don't like bagels cause I feel like they are generally too much dough. Omg the 8 grain bagel with lox here is AMAZING ! My mom hates bagels and she wanted to come back here twice on our trip. The bagels were crunchy on the outside and flavorful on the inside.

  • Pamela H.

Two blocks from work, this place is perfect for when I need to grab something on the go. I usually opt for the egg sammich with sausage and cheddar on a jalapeno bagel, matched up with a pint-sized Blueberry B Monster (Odwalla). I'm not sure about their lunch menu, but their breafast has been reliable, affordable, and fast. Good enough for me!

  • Ann L.

Originally from NJ, I am a bagel snob. But this was the worst bagel I have ever had in my life. This is a one-star bagel even if a Panera Bread bagel was my standard for a five-star bagel. Bagels are supposed to be hard on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. This bagel was just a roll with a hole in the middle. I won't ever come back here.

    (1)
  • Joe F.

"The only thing unnatural is the size" This is true - the bagels they sell are half the size of a regular bagel. Guy working register zero personality. Lady will scream out your order number and you won't be able to understand her. When she screams, look at register guy. He will nod at you if it's yours.

Tasty bagels! I got the everything bagel with lox. It had capers, tomatos, onion. Very fresh.

I only leave reviews to places I go to and I was given the option to leave a review here, at first I couldn't remember the place which doesn't say much but then I recalled it's right by Pikeplace. So with that it has decent bagels... I have to stop going to bagel places I have discovered I expect them to be soft and not hard and hurt my teeth.

  • Alan B.

Bagels from a dumpster... The lox was dead, there were two lousy thin slices of it, and the onion bagel, though warm, was muck. No, as a native New Yorker, I have to say that the only "New York Style" in these bagels would be if you compared them to a lox and cream cheese bagel someone had thrown out the day before into a dumpster.

  • Yasmine S.

Ok, so I'm sad to say that I must downgrade them a couple of stars. I went by today for my usual snack/lunch and they were closing at four [confused] I could have sworn they were open later than four pm on Sat. No matter. This isn't why I'm downgrading them. I asked if they were open and the surly lady said yes we are. I got my bagel in about two minutes. Bad sign. They barely toasted it and the cream cheese was in one huge tasteless glob. I wish they'd said no instead. Now I have paid money for a less than delish bagel :(

Looking for a quick bite, no car, and carrying a baby, I stumbled into Market Bagels. Sorry, you're in a high traffic eatery area. My standards have to be a little higher than normal. The loxs and cream cheese on toasted sundried tomato bagel was alright. I also got an extra plain bagel for the baby. meeh, a normal bagel. And Cafe Latte to complete the meal. I wasn't impressed but I wasn't quite let down either. Meeh, but based on the price, I really could and should have had better. Sorry small biz. I'll support you with a coffee only next time.

Oh yeah Love the bagels...!!! yummm I don't really get anything on them, cuz I have my own spreads at work! I did breakdown and get a breakfast bagel w/provolone, egg w/sausage... whoa! the cheese was soo amazing! I got a half dozen, 3 jalapenos!! 2 sesame and 1 blueberry! I'm excited for my morning or mid afternoon snacks! Fast and fairly friendly!

  • Denise B.

Eh, okay. I guess people like it because there is a line in there on a Saturday morning for bagels and bagel sandwiches so it's busy and in business. But for me, it didn't do it. The bagel had no flavor to it, and my sandwich was okay but also had no flavor to it. There was too much egg and I couldn't really find my sausage. I ate it anyway, because I was hungry, but it did not satisfy. My fiance though loved his bagel pizza, which was a bagel with tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni on it. So different strokes for different people, eh? Or maybe they just make one thing better than other things.

    (2)
  • Cicero D.

I had a decent breakfast bagel here. There seems to be nice choices for bagels, bagel sandwiches and spreads. Actually, I'm kind of hungry and I'm gonna pass by and try the Bagel and Lox... I'll complete my review later.. TATA!

Holy bad bagels Batman!!! Market has a 3.5 rating on Yelp and I have no idea why. No one in their right mind would like these bagels. First of all the bagels have NO flavor. I got the everything bagel, the one that is supposed to be most flavorful, it was bland. The cream cheese is clearly not quality cream cheese. They must cut it off a block because it was like biting through a thick cube of cheese - hard and not easy to go down. The taste experience was beyond disappointing. Market claims, "Authentic New York Style", if my bagel was an authentic New York style bagel then I must be crazy. I would never compare this place to any place in NYC.

If you're looking for atmosphere, you wouldn't stop here. It's not great looking, but it is in a fairly central location and serves decent bagels. They're small - the size of the ones you'd buy at the grocery store - but they're generous on the cream cheese. I ordered a pesto bagel with garlic & herb cream cheese, and a small fountain drink, for a total of $4 and some change. (Drink refills are $.50.) I couldn't tell whether it was the bagel or the cream cheese, but one or both had a significant rosemary flavor, which I loved. Overall, good place! Just nothin' special.

Disclaimer: Im from the East Coast and a bagel snob. I trek downtown to check this place out as I was told they have the best bagels in Seattle. True, the bagels were larger & may have been boiled but they were not great. I got the standard. Everything with plain cream cheese - yeah its bland but if the bagels are good & the cream cheese is good it should be rockin. Well. It twas not. Ok, maybe a 3 star for Seattle but in the world its a one. Especially compared to the bagel I had a week later in Brooklyn.

The bagels are nothing ordinary; you can get the same bagels anywhere else. It's not like they are making them themselves. The soup we tried was all right, for $2 it's warm and filling but not remarkable.

Okay, despite the Jesus music (actually I'm not surprised because there are alot of Korean Mega-Christians out there) and the creepy B-A-G-E-L spelled out in real life bagels, this place is pretty good! The only thing I've tried is the onion bagel with sausage, egg and provolone which is yummmmy and lasts me a meal and a snack. It is a little pricey for $5, but then again, it's pretty big. The employees are pretty nice, smiley and always make my order the exact way I want it. So for now, four stars! :]

At last I have found salt bagels! Chewy and good and salty, and close to my apartment. Yum.

Not impressed, thin, dense and dry.

Upon my first visit to Pike Place Bagel Bakery, it was easy to hide in the hallway while looking at the chalk written menu on the wall while deciding what I wanted to shove in my facehole. I ended up getting a bagel with cream cheese and a BUNCH of hearty bacon bits all over it and it was gawddangDELISH. Ever since, I've ordered the bagel sammiches which have been mighty fantastic, but minus one star for being too big to put in my mouth. Wow, please ignore how unbelievably durrrty that sounds. AnyHOO! All the bagels and bagel sammiches are very reasonably priced, and they're piled high with lots of extra toppings! Wha-hoo!

Slow. The staff of 2 is overwhelmed. A bagel and cream cheese shouldn't look this hard.

The bagels aren't good. They taste stale. The place is sort of dark and uninvited. Just no reason to go with so many other options.

After a night of imbibing at several of Seattle's finest watering holes, and not having a kitchen of my own... the only thing I wanted was a bagel and cream cheese. I don't know how anyone who lives downtown can survive on Starbucks or Tully's alone which seemed to be the only thing serving anything breakfast related that wasn't pancakes in the area. I mean Tully's won't even toast your bagel if you ask them to. So I found this bagel shop at the market, and had high hopes. they were quickly dashed. My pesto bagel was not toasted nearly enough, barely warmed. And it was so thick and gummy that I was afraid I was never going to be able to open my mouth again. The cream cheese was hard, and smashed on one side. Is it so hard to spread cream cheese on both sides of a bagel? apparently.

A fine bagel indeed. It would not win any awards in NYC but it does have that same characteristic texture and taste impossible to find in mass chain bagel shops or in bagels from a bag. It was little quiet between normal breakfast and lunch hours so this was a good time to stop and rest for a few minutes while touring Pikes Place Market.

I don't think of myself as a bagel connoisseur, but I do like to try new bagel places and compare for myself. I read many reviews on this place and I have eaten here at least a dozen time. The first point I would like to make is the size. It's average. I've had larger bagels, but these fit nicely in the toaster for a quick warm up. I've had some that stuck out of the toaster and I had to turn them so they would heat up evenly. The second point is; these are boiled bagels, you can immediately tell this by the chewy texture. If you ever had a bagels at Safeway, QFC or any other supermarket, then you know they all taste like bread. There is no comparison on the flavor or texture. This is not my favorite place for bagel although I do stop in a pick a couple up if I'm in the area. Good price, quick service and the Korean ladies there get your orders out quick!

I went in at 8:30 AM on a Tuesday and bought a dozen bagels. I am fairly certain they were day-olds - they were certainly not fresh. As other reviewers have said, the attendant was curt and surly, and the size of the product is nothing to brag about. I think this place seems more geared toward taking advantage of the tourists than developing a loyal local following.

Holy mother of bagels! This place has a huge menu of bagel type items ranging from sandwiches to pizza. Totally awesome! Our friends from Seattle took us here for breakfast one morning and while I'm normally not a bagel fan, I can't pass up smoke salmon. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel on sun dried tomato. A word of advice, if you're not into onions, don't get it with onions. It will over power the smoked salmon. My bagel was nicely toasted and had an even spread of cream cheese, salmon, capers and onions. Would definitely come back for more.

I've never really liked bagels. I always went for the english muffin instead. So I have no idea what a good delicious bagel is supposed to taste like. But I really like this place. I was introduced to it because of work. It's one of my go-to's for Monday morning breakfasts. Two dozen bagels and four different types of spreads for about $30 isn't bad at all. But then I started coming here on my own. I normally get a garlic bagel with egg and swiss cheese, or a garlic bagel with regular cream cheese, onions, tomato, and swiss cheese. Both are REALLY filling. The workers will pretty much make your bagel however you want ... light on the onions, cream cheese, a little more toasted, etc. So if you don't absolutely need an authentic NY-style bagel (whatever that is), I totally recommend this place.

The wait was really long, but I enjoyed people-watching while I waited. The mocha was even later than my bagel sandwich, but - - wow, just right! And I got a very personal, very sincere apology from the young woman who delivered it to the counter, and that makes all the difference!

All the hotels in the area want $30+ for breakfast, so this was an amazing find for the area. Reasonably priced and their Ham Egg and Cheese Bagel sandwich can really feed two people. The place looks kind of dark, but the food is good.

Ate here last Saturday morning (6/5.). Cannot recall the exact bagel I had but it was salmon one on a garlic flavored bagel. Service was quick and courteous. Prices were pretty good too considering it is in the Pike Place Market area.

Wifey and I stopped in to split a Smoked Turkey everything bagel. The selection was fantastic, the price was very reasonable and the bagel was bomb. Service was quick and friendly, too! What more would you want from a bagel place? Only complaint was that we had to wipe down our own table, but still very worth it if you're in the area.

Oh-so convienently located by my work, so it's my first stop on one of those breakfast-bar-won't-cut-it mornings. You know when you had more cocktails than you thought last night and you're hating the world..."I should have called in sick, I should have called in sick" They have these big ole breakfast sandwiches where you can pick your bagel flavor, meat, and cheese from a bunch of different options and they put a giant slab of egg on there too. Hits the spot for me. Sometimes I can gobble the entire thing down at breakfast alone (yikes) but other days I can eat half for breakfast and heat the other half up for lunch. Love it! A little gem of a find!

I'm not much of a bagel guy, so you can excuse me for being the only yelper who isn't giving this place 5 stars. I went here once and ordered a sun-dried tomato bagel with strawberry cream cheese. It was definitely good, but it didn't blow me away or anything. Their tag line "the only thing unnatural is the size" didn't really ring true for me either; on the contrary, the bagel I had seemed to be of a rather typical size... Anyway, I'm sticking 4 stars instead of 3 (average) because I have a hard time imaging what a 5 star bagel shop would look like.

I had a sesame with lox, tomato, and cream cheese (with capers and onions, too). The bagel was dense and chewy, the way a bagel ought to be--not fluffy marshmallow like Noah's. The lox was OK (at least it's real lox and not pink salmon-flavored spread), the cream cheese standard heavy Philadelphia-style, and everything was well-packed together and wrapped in paper, then sliced. Ordinarily I'd say this is nothing special--a competent bagel, lox, and cream cheese, nothing more. But in Seattle decent bagels are hard to find, and a proper sandwich with lox and capers is a rarity indeed. So while this place is nothing outstanding, if you're in Seattle and you're looking for a traditional bagel, lox, and cream cheese, this is probably your best bet. Atmosphere, location, and service are perfectly fine. Price isn't outlandish. It's the Market. What do you expect?

Growing up in New York spoils you. You get to have delicious bagels whenever you want. You never realize that most people don't get it right. It's been years since I had a real New York style bagel. And now I have somewhere to grab one. They have a great choice in bagels and even have a pretty good selection at the end of the day. Excellent bagel sandwiches and great service. This is a wonderful place to stop and grab something to eat before heading home.

I am not a habitually crabby reviewer. In fact I rarely review anything on Yelp but I must post a negative review and warning to potential bagel seekers. I have patronized Market Bagels about five times now in recent weeks and, though their turkey bagel is generally quite decent for its stuffings, the bagels here are consistently lack-luster. Now, a bagel should not be a fluffy, flocculent thing as it has progressively evolved into on the grocery shelves. It should have a fairly chewy, toothsome consistency. I know we are 3k miles from the center of the bagel universe but I still think, at the market of all places, we should be able to get a decently formed and flavorful bagel. Their products are consistently, small, hard, leathery flattened toroids, not anything near worth the price. I just bought two, and yes, I could see the product in the bins were a bit deflated, but I swear the clerk pulled the hardest, nastiest, most petrified one for me. If I had checked the bag contents before I left I would have certainly insisted on a different bagel. I'm still seeking a great bagel in Seattle. You can at least do better with Noah's.

Ooh I love bagels! This place is second on my bagel-heart-throb list only to Noah's in Capitol Hill. Their tag line is "The only thing unnatural is the size". They have a good lunch special, and the bagel BLT is yum, yum, yum!

I love bagels, especially the stuffed ones. I had one almost the size of my fist once - really tasty. The prices are more than fair, and the staff is always really laid back - try the bagel sandwiches : YUM!

Totally authentic New York style bagels and tons of yummies to stuff into them. I'm still a traditional bagel, cream cheese and lox kind of girl, but one day I'll branch out. This is a great bagel bakery.

Who doesn't love fresh bagels? A great selection. The size of the bagel will not only fill your stomach it will fill you heart. Fillign it with the warmth of bread and tasty herbs. There is a great selection of bagels and spreads. It was warm and I had mine toasted, it was great!
