Oh boy, I love when you take a bite into something and can immediately tell they give a shit about what they are doing. You could taste the quality of ingredients in each bit. It was also very fun to get to try so many cool bears from all over! Keep up the good work!! Cheers, -HMIII

We've never been to this place before, the reviews and pictures looked fantastic so we were excited to try it. When we got there, the two guys behind the bar did not acknowledge us, not a smile or a greeting. We sat down and looked around, no sign anywhere indicating you have to order at the register and the workers were too self involved to let us know that. My husband went and got a beer and came back to our table. The booth and stools were uncomfortable and cold, just like their customer service. We finished the beer which was tasty, paid and went some place else. I'm over trendy places with modern hipster decor and workers who think they're too cool to be welcoming.

With a great selection of draft beers/ciders, bottles to-go, and sandwiches all under one roof - Homer Simpson would be proud. An idea so simple it makes you wonder why you hadn't thought of it - this is the definition of one-stop shopping. We stopped in during a 'block party' so their parking lot was closed, no worries, there was plenty of parking available around the corner. The party included face-painting, bean bags, mini golf, and a raffle tucked in the confines of the small parking lot. While all of that sounds enticing, we were here for lunch. This is a walk-up and order at the counter place with a long bar that has roughly 50 rotating taps and some small tables. It's not quite a bar rather a quick-serve restaurant that's quite small for a place that has that many handles available. I wonder how a place of this size keeps all of those kegs fresh? At any rate, we wait in line to order which gives us a chance to peruse their coolers filled with drinks of all variety - some impressive stuff in here. I ordered the Mastodon (roast beef) and quickly glance at their taps. No-joke, there are almost 50 handles spanning an assortment of sours, IPAs, ciders, wines, cocktails, and even sodas on tap. The selection is astonishing. I knew the beer was going to be good, but the sandwich was just as wonderful. With all sandwiches, it all starts with the bread and the bread here was perfectly crusty and airy and is a great vehicle for the components inside. The ratio and balance of flavors of the ingredients that comprised that sandwich was perfect. This might have been one of the best roast beef sandwiches I have ever had. Also, each sandwich comes with a bag of house-made chips. I'm a huge fan of house-made chips and these didn't disappoint. They were fried to a perfect crisp and had some deep flavor like they were fried in beef fat or something. They were so good that I ate my entire bag before my sandwich even arrived. If I lived in Seattle, I would probably eat/drink here often, but until Mammoth makes their way to Chicago, I can only dream of what their other sandwiches taste like.

Yum! This place was amazing! First of all they had a huge variety of beers on tap. I had a delicious cranberry beer. The food here was seriously amazing. You get tasty homemade chips to go along with the sandwich. I had the Irish elk which was a Reuben. The corned beef was so good and it had a tasty sauce on it. I split the sandwich so I could try two! For the other half I had the hunter which had steak and peppers on it. This one was also delicious! What I really liked about the sandwiches was that the bread didn't overpower the actual sandwich. I also thought that the sandwich was the perfect size as well. I will definitely be back here again!

This place is pretty damn good. I had the predator sandwich which was awesome but what really topped it off was the spicy not sure if it was barbecue sauce or what it was, but it was delicious. There's not much for sides but they have an endless variety of beers. I would recommend it, and I'll probably be back.

Not bad, Mammoth! I came here for late Sunday lunch and tried two sandwiches - the Irish Elk (a reuben), $11, and the Predator (fried chicken leg, pork belly, arugula), $12. Both were pretty good! I think I've come to the realization that sandwiches are just pricier than I want them to be, and they're not even that big! Comparing various sandwich shops, seems like they're all around $9-12. I think I just have to learn to expect and accept that :/ Sandwiches here come with homemade seasoned potato chips, which is nice. They are kinda kettle style (thicker and crispy) and have a cheese/sour cream seasoning to them. Not the best because they're super greasy, but still quite addicting. My fiancé's favorite sandwich is a reuben and he loved the Irish Elk. I thought it was good too! I don't know if I liked it more than the Predator - they're just so different that it's hard for me to choose one over the other (that's why halfsies is the way to go! :) The Irish elk is pretty simple - corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and thousand island. I wouldn't have thought I would enjoy this sandwich, but I did. The Predator was pretty heavy and filling with large pieces of fried chicken leg and arugula. I'm not sure about the pork belly though, not sure I really tasted it, and when I looked in the sandwich, there was a piece of bacon like meat? Not your typical expected pork belly. Oh well. Mammoth gets my pick for a convenient and fast, delicious sandwich. Lastly, they offer I think 15+ different sandwiches so there's plenty of options to try and a few choices for vegetarians too. Check it out! TIP: The parking lot in front is for customers and you don't have to pay, or so a lady next to us said. There's easy street parking all around though, and I don't think it's all metered either.

Incredible selection of local beers and microwbrews. Staff is very well versed on pretty much every one I asked for so far. Sandwiches are about the best I have in any city or country and I keep coming back for the Irish Elk

Oh my YUM. Amazing. Loved my sandwich, had the Stonehenge and literally thought about it for days after. Service was nice and fast, cannot wait to go back!!

Very cool and Spartan set up that transitions to some very nice quality sandwiches. The ingredients were top notch on both our sandwiches and the variety of choices were good. Did not get a chance on this trip to partake in the liquor libations, but the vast variety looked very tempting. So great to have a place to stop in Eastlake.

One of my favorite new spots. I have not been disappointed with any of their sandwiches, though I'm partial to the saber-tooth. And definitely take advantage of their potato chips they bring out, they're delicious. I would give this place 5 stars for their food, but combined with their beer selection, I wish I could give them 10 stars. Over 40 taps, a good selection of ciders or wine, AND house made cocktails on tap? Combined with a fairly well stocked bottle selection, this is a place you have to go to. People who rated this poorly are stupid. Fact.

Love this place! In case you don't know, Bitterroot and Mammoth are owned by the same person. (don't ask me why I know :P) Mammoth was in Seattle Magazine recently. A restaurant that makes to Seattle Magazine must have some level of good. And, yes, Mammoth has a lot to offer. I've been here a couple times. I definitely enjoyed the food and drinks here. They make most of the food in-house as well as their lemonade. I am always overwhelmed with the options of their drinks. Fortunately, the staff is able to help me select the drink of my taste. When you order a beer, you will also get a bag of house made cheddar-flavored chips! Feel hungry? They have different kinds of sandwiches on their menu. I've tried two of them so far (not included ice cream sandwich :P) So far, my favorite is their Irish Elk (if you'd like to call that Reuben sandwich). The sandwich is good from the bread to the meat to the dressing to the toppings, everything is awesome! If you haven't tried a bite, you'd better visit them and grab a bite! Speaking of ice cream sandwich, they have house made cookies. It was the first I had nutella cookie ice cream sandwich. It was just indescribable. So good!!! For the side note, there's a paid parking lot in the strip mall. But, you can easily find free street parking. Or, you can take Route 71, 72, 73.

Sandwhiches for lunch and dinner! They are big and delicious. I've had the predator and stonehinge, both great. They leave you full and feeling fat. Their chips are yummy too. I guess they are known for their beers on tap, I don't drink so I wouldn't know too much about that. I'm only knocking off a star because of the pricing but I have a feeling you're paying for the ambiance-cool hipster vibe with the electronic music and dim lighting, you kind of feel like you're on someone's back porch. Cool place

I'm a huge fan of gourmet sandwiches and Mammoth has the unique addition of an incredible beer selection to make this a great addition to the Eastlake dining scene. 4.5 Stars If you work in SLU I highly recommend adding Mammoth to your lunch rotation. The quality of the ingredients make the $9-$12 price point for the sandwiches reasonable and the portions are in line with other sandwich shops. The Predator was easily my favorite sandwich. The fried chicken leg and pork belly add an excellent salty component to this sandwich that comes with swiss cheese, arugula, roasted red peppers, and a caper aioli. The fried chicken could've used a little more spice, but mixed with the pork belly I found myself loving the sandwich anyways. The Hunter is very similar to a Philly cheesesteak with roast beef (they call it steak), grilled peppers and onions, mushrooms, lots of provolone cheese, and some aioli. The addition of salami is a nice twist. This was the messiest sandwich I tried, but that doesn't take anything away from its great flavor. I felt the steak was a little overcooked and dry, but the aioli and melted cheese made up for that. The Cro-Magnon has ham, mortadella, salami, coppa, provolone, lettuce, tomato, giardiniera (pickled veggies), and Italian dressing. I really enjoyed the meat on the sandwich by itself, but unfortunately the sandwich had too much Italian dressing on it that really overpowered the sandwich. Next time I'll ask for less dressing! I would be remiss not to mention the accompanying house-made chips with each sandwich. I believe they are covered in some sort of cheese and spice mixture that is incredibly addicting. They aren't too oily and have a great crunch. On my list to try: Irish Elk - Corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss, thousand island Caveman - Meatballs, salami, tomato sauce, provolone, romano, basil

I was told that this place was owned by the same owners of Bitterroot BBQ in Ballard. I went here out of a wimb because I was in the area and my good friend said that this place was the bee's knees! Boy was he right. When I first walked in, I instantly fell in love with the vibe. I think it helps that there a lot of beers on tap and you see it immediately once you walk in. I also loved chatting with the staff, they are all very personable and friendly. It took me a while to figure out what to get because everything looked so good! I settled with the Saber-Tooth per recommendation of the cashier. I love Bitterroot BBQ so I might as well settle with the BBQ sandwich. Overall, it was a solid sandwich. The Bitterroot smoked pork is very good and if you like Bitterroot BBQ, definitely get this sandwich. They do have salad or soup of the day and the water is self-served. I would definitely come back agian

YEAAA! SOOOO stoked to have an awesome new place open on Eastlake. Affordable and delicious. Beer: They have amazing beer selection (although some are a little pricey) and I love the way they organize the selection so its easy to choose based on what kind of beer I like. Unfortunately, they don't let you taste the diff beers anymore before buying a growler. But I regularly go pick up growlers from them. Sandwiches: I'm a big fan. I am totally in LOVE with their predator one - fried chicken + pork belly. Nothing could be better. Actually I'm sure this is the best sandwich they have, but I have yet to try all of them. For sure, though, the herbivore was the worst. It was fried eggplant, but the veggies got all soggy and it was very unappetizing. Anyway, Predator is the best best sammy. Highly recommended! OOOH and the homemade chips are SO delish! Cheddar and thickly made! I'll be a regular at this place for sure.

A beer bar that serves sandwiches or a sandwich place that serves excellent beer? Either way, it was an excellent option for a pit stop. We were passing through Sea-town and this "Hot & New" spot came up on our yelpdar. One look at the beer list and I was sold. We stopped in on our way north through the city. Simple, clean setup with 35+ beers on tap offering all styles. And a nice selection of beers in the cold cases as well. Simple sandwich menu, but definitely intriguing. I went with the Dodo: roasted chicken salad with raisins and celery. Served on ciabatta style bread with lettuce, tomato & aioli with a side of house made chips. The chicken salad looked truly homemade with large chunks of chicken and just the right (aka little) amount of mayo. The raisins weren't to prevalent - which is fine by me - but they offered the right taste of sweetness whenever you found one. Half the sandwich was plenty, but it was hard to wrap up the second half for later. The staff was great. Full of personality and fun to chat with as we sat at the bar. It's hard to not try new places each time we visit a far away land, but Mammoth might be on our hit list whenever we make it back to Seattle.

Food: I had the predator sandwich (fried chicken leg with pork belly, arugula, swiss cheese, red peppers, and aioli). The sandwich was absolutely delicious and THE BEST when compared to all the other places you can get a sandwich nearby (Hamlin, Grand Central, Louisa's, Little Water Cantina, Pete's). The sandwich came with a small bag of chips which had great flavor but the texture was odd, like they were stale but we thought that it was by design rather than the chips actually being stale. I give the sandwich 5 stars and the chips 3 stars. Menu: There are at least 3 other sandwiches on their menu that I'm interested in trying and I'm looking forward to bringing my husband back here to check out their extensive beer selection (bottles and tap). I give their menu/selection 5 stars. (Self-)Service: The system here is you order and pay up front, get and refill your own water, they bring the food to you but you bus your own tables. Unfortunately for us, they lost our order and it wasn't until we went up to ask about our food over 20 minutes after we ordered that they realized this mistake and then started to make our sandwiches. The staff was apologetic and brought us each an additional bag of chips. I'm sure that they don't lose orders regularly but I still don't prefer self-service systems for reasons I have discussed in my previous reviews, thus give them 2.5 stars for service. Overall: I give them 4 stars and I am likely to come back for lunch because it is close to my office.

Came here for "linner" because almost every other restaurant in Eastlake is closed between 2:30 and 4:30, and I gotta say this place just looks cool from the street. Once you're inside, it feels hip and yet relaxed. You'll find lots of beards and thick-rimmed glasses on patrons. Basically, you're in Portland. Which is cool because Portland is a great food city, too! The server was very friendly and worked with my party to sort out a plethora of dietary restrictions. The sandwiches all sounded really good! I settled on the roast beef which was cooked perfectly but could have used a bit more spice. For those who don't want a sandwich, they do have salad or a soup of the day. Water is self-serve which is totally great, but it came out warm :| I will definitely be back to try one of the many good beers on tap and another sandwich! Give it a go if you're nearby.

This "place" has everything I can dream of. 1. Beer bottles to go. Their first week stock/selection was just amazing. They had Peche N Brett, BCBS (2013 and 2014 vintages), B-Bomb (3 year vertical), Abraxas, etc. etc. WOW. You can also consume any of their bottles on site as well. Not sure if they charge corkage fees. 2. 48 taps. AND the best part is that it's not just the number of beers available. They had BCBS, Abraxas, several sours, IPAs, local offerings, etc. Price was.... okay too (not cheap though - Abraxas was $12 for 8 oz pour). They fill growers for to go as well. 3. Amazing sandwiches. I got to try two of their many many options. I got Predator (bacon, pork belly, AND fried chicken legs in one sandwich) and my wife and kids shared their ham sandwich (I cannot remember the name). My sandwich was AMAZING. My wife's was solid too. They also had a private parking lot right in front of the restaurant/bar. They take Amex. This may just have become my favorite beer place in WA. I really hope they keep this up. Lastly, take a look at their glassware for sale. I picked one up myself. It's a thinner/taller shaped tulip (like the one Ballast Point Brewery uses) with their logo on it. It was reasonably priced at $5. Good deal!

This review is beery preliminary and I WILL update when I'm back at least twice! There were some first day hiccups but what matters is that the intentions were fantastic and the food is fabulous. In sandwich paradise this place has some of the best in the city with a focus on really really great meats. The fact that the owners also own Bitterroot BBQ shows!!! The bread is hearty, the selection is great... Each sandwich has its own personality, with sauces and cheeses that don't overwhelm but make you lick up every morsel. You can also build your own Sammie! The beer selection is awesome with tons of variety and HELLO - growlers! Beer to go! Growing pains - no take away menus and no physical beer menu, plus staff seem to not know what they like yet. The only critique - it felt so bare and a little cold and industrial... I want it to be a little cozier for regulars and those who linger. I expect to do both.

Diggin' on this beer and cider spot in Eastlake. Low key but lots going on -- dozens of beer taps (as well as a good selection of ciders). Decor is clean and modern and the sandwich menu is printed on a tile wall at the entrance of the bar. Sandwiches are caveman / ice age themed, which made me smile. For some reason, I have a feeling that the food is really good here though I have yet to try it. Came here for the first time on a Friday night around 6ish. A friend bought my drink so I wasn't sure about the prices or if they had any good happy hour deals. Service was solid though, and the entire place was filled (so get there early if you have a big group). I look forward to coming back sometime soon.

Go up to order and sit down spot. Pretty spacious spot. The parking lot right in front is paid lot so just be cautious. There's also some free street parking around. The "predator" was good, but heavy. Fried chicken leg and pork belly (which kinda taste more like crispy bacon instead of meat/fat). I had half of this and felt pretty full already. I also had half of the albacore sandwich, which I had a couple bites of and packed home. It's basically just a tuna salad sandwich with soft boiled egg. It's pretty good too but pretty ordinary as far as tuna sandwiches go. The bread was very good though for all sandwiches. Sandwiches were roughly $9-11ish. Ohhh also comes with chips! Taste house made and are super surprisingly delicious! 2nd visit: Tried The Hunter, steak sandwich. I liked it a lot! It's easier to eat than The Predator. They also have a ton of beers on tap. A couple non alcoholic options as well. I tried the Brambleberry cider. Pretty good.

While I was hyped up on The Predator prior to even walking in the door I must say it did not live up to the hype. It was just good enough that I have been convinced to return to try a different type of sandwich. The space is pretty cool, very light and bright with sparse furnishings. The beer wall takes center stage, and the variety of brews was interesting and impressive. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, it is worth a try.

Great little hidden-away neighborhood place. I wish this place was in my neighborhood. It's right on Eastlake but you can easily miss the signs even if you know where to look. For a few seconds I was convinced that Google Maps messed up, but then my son spotted the ironically small red Mammoth sign. It's actually three different "businesses" shoehorned into a smallish retail space: First you have the sandwich shop. The serve about a dozen sandwiches, and based on the one I tried I'm gonna guess they're all great. Next you have the bar. It offers about four dozen microbrews and several ciders on tap, along with a couple bottled whiskeys. Finally you have the beer bottle shop. AKA the coolers near the rear door. I didn't ask about the seating, but given the divider between the bar stools and the table seating and the lack of beer at the tables when I was there, I'm guessing you can only have liquor at the bar? Or maybe the rules change after the lunch hour? Dunno. My fellow Yelpers say the place is good for groups. Make sure it's a small group. The table space is decent but the bar space is nearly non-existent. The beer service is unique. The taps are all numbered. The numbers for first 30 or so are in red. This means you can get growler fills. The rest are in white meaning no growlers. The beer signage is organized into categories so all the stouts are together, all the IPAs, etc. Some of the taps have a white dot above them, meaning you will get an eight-ounce pour rather than a pint. You can also order a four ounce pour if you want to try something a bit more sample-sized. Their glassware is all marked at 4/8/16 ounces. They seem to fill just a skosh above the line. My experience with the growler fill was a bit annoying. I tried a Kriek that was $12 for an eight ounce pour. It tasted great, they have 32 ounce mini-growlers, and I thought great... I'll bring some home for my wife. The price was just crazy: $48 plus glassware. Essentially, they're wanting to charge you the same price as if you'd ordered four individual drinks at the bar, and poured them into a growler. That's not the way it's supposed to work, kids.

I would give this place 4.5 stars, but that isn't possible, so I'll round up. This place has phenomenal sandwiches and chips. The food alone is 5 stars! My only (albeit very mild) suggestion would be to make the beer a bit more reasonably priced. The beer selection is generally very good, it's just a bit pricey. With that said, this place is absolutely worth going to for the sandwiches alone :) Great newish spot in Seattle!

GET THE PREDATOR, like right now! Sorry, the caps are a bit yell-y but it's so good! The bread has just the right crunch to it. The fried chicken is crispy and flavorful (might be a little salty, but it will go perfect with your beer!). The caper aioli and peppers add extra texture and flavor to the sandwich. The pork belly is like the cherry on top when you didn't think the sandwich could get any better. I want to eat it again as I am typing this review. Order The Predator, and you will not regret it! All the sandwiches come with homemade chips (yum)! I love that they have a large selection of beer on tap. This place itself is super cute too!

3.5 I had the predator tonight, which, for the most part, was a very good sandwich. The fried chicken was perfectly fried -- exterior was crispy and the interior moist. The pork belly was a huge letdown -- it was basically over cooked thick bacon. It was very, very tough and almost painful to eat. Aside from that, the aioli and the fried chicken was just perfect. Don't forget their inferno hot sauce -- it was so good that I had to have half a tablespoon in each bite. Every order comes with a bag of what I assume to be homemade potato chips. They were GOOD! Just the right thickness and crunch -- just perfect. My biggest complaint is the size of the sandwich. It was tiny for $12. I ate each half in 6 bites. While it was a very good sandwich, the value just isn't there.

YUMMY! I don't usually seek out sandwich shops (unless they are banh mi places), but having seen the article in Seattle Magazine featuring Mammoth as one of the best new restaurants, I had to give it a try. I was extremely impressed with the decor; nice open white space, and a lot of bar/counter space so that you can view their ginormous tap selection. Pretty impressive! I went with the less aggressive pork belly option (the Neanderthal). For those of you who know me or who have read my other reviews, you know I can't refuse pork belly. All sandwiches come with a half full-sack lunch (brown bag) of homemade potato chips, which I munched up willingly. I also ordered their non-alcoholic special drink of the day (a watermelon type soda that was light and refreshing). I usually don't order drinks but this one sounded so good and did not disappoint! The sandwich was delightful, everything I wanted it to be, with generous pieces of the crispy skin of the pork belly too! My coworker ordered the roast beef but didn't find it flavorful. I was pleased I made the right choice. Next time I'm going to man up and get the Predator! Is there really a whole chicken leg in this sammich?? One note is that you have to pay to park in their parking lot. Really? In Eastlake? A little lame. It's not their fault though.

In protest of our office's meatless monday's we got them delivered today. Wow, my first time trying them and even though the delivery took forever and the sandwich was cold it was still delicious! I had the sabertooth and it was thick, rich great texture and just all around delicious. I'll def go back!

Our office lunch catered Mammoth today. A full sandwich is equivalent to a foot long. So quite a lot of sandwich. They jam pack it with tons of meat! I had the ST! Tons of pork and sauteed onions. They aren't stingy with their ingredients. Its one of those overflowing sandwiches you always see in movies/tv shows that looks so good! Well it was :) Was definitely delicious and very filling. Couldn't eat more than half a sandwich. More on the oily side, but its to be expected with the loads of meat they stuffed in here. Bread was not my favorite, but it worked, and it was well lathered with some good flavored butter? Would totally go visit the store front to try more sandwiches from them next time.

Mammoth is one of my favorite sandwich selling places in Seattle and its my mission to try every creation on the menu. So far I have tried the Predator, Nessie, Caveman, Hammerstone, Hunter, Cro-Magnon, Herbivore, Saber-tooth and haven't been disappointed yet! I highly recommend everyone to do the same. I also love the way the restaurant looks! The ambiance of the bar is relaxed and clean/crsip. All of the beers on tap are displayed in such a unique way. The owners (also the owners of Bitterroot) are always around and are super cool.

Five stars in Eastlake, because there is almost nothing else that is any good. They have a lot of beer and a lot of cool sandwiches. If you're not looking for mega romance Italian, pizza, or coffee in Eastlake, this is pretty much your only choice for non-garbage food at a reasonable price as Loisa's and 14 Carrots are hopeless. You may feel like you're eating in a high school or factory worker cafeteria, because you are, but at least the food and beer is of delightful and of surprising quality. RIP Hiroshi-sans.

I didn't enjoy my sandwich (The Predator) as much as I hoped. Taking it to go probably didn't help, having one of the many beers on tap would have helped wash the overly salty chicken and pork belly down. I must admit I am losing faith in the gourmet chicken sandwich. I think fried chicken is best served plain or between a soft bun or biscuit. So I blame myself for ordering The Predator when I should have went with something more lunch meat based. I also wasn't overly impressed with the bread. But I think it would be much better served with a different filling. I assume I will be back here at some point and I will be happy to try something else. But I don't see myself going out of my way to get back in here.

A fried chicken/pork belly sandwich (Predator) and 40+ alcoholic beverages on tap. Need I say more? Great casual spot for a quick bite. Love that it's tucked away in Eastlake.

Hard to believe what these guys have managed to shoehorn into the little space here. This is a space that has seemed underused for decades, though that's probably an exaggeration--but there has definitely never been a cool beer bar and sandwich place in here before. Now there is. If they had a tiny bit more space and you could comfortably hang out here for more than a quick tipple, it would easily be five stars. But they aim themselves squarely at to-go business, and they do it up right. They're on a modest little corner of Eastlake across from a vest-pocket park. The signage is very restrained. We actually turned in, looked for it, and kept going for a block before we turned around and finally saw it. They have medium-sized dark red logos on the doors, and that's it. When the doors are open to create a draft, it's pretty hard to tell where these guys are for the first time, at least from the street...at least if you're a knucklehead like I am. They probably get an awful lot of foot traffic here, and probably the vast majority of their customers are repeats. If you do drive here, keep in mind that it's a pay lot in front of the businesses, but you can easily see whether anyone is patrolling from your stool, in case you opt not to pay. Not that you would do that. At least on purpose. Inside, everything is clean and bright and, as of this writing, absolutely brand-new. It looks like they went right down to the studs to remodel this place, and they really spent some money. The walls and counters are all tiled in bright ivory white ceramic tiles--easy to clean, which is good, since they probably show every tiny smudge. There are two walls of windows, one short wall of beer coolers, and one long wall of beer faucets and barstools. There's also a long stretch of small tables and small stools, with a pretty serious Ikea feel to it. On your left, in back, is the pay station. They put lettering right on the tiles behind the register, and that's the menu. There are lot of little chalkboards to the right of that; they run the length of the bar and each of them lists a beer. They bundle the beers by style, which is helpful. The bar has a counter-pressure filler for each and every faucet, which means that each and every faucet will pour a growler fill with minimal risk of going flat. Growlers still won't keep as long as bottles of course, but they invested a ton of money in the plumbing here so your growler will stay drinkable for a week or more, instead of a couple days. Big, heavy beers with slower carbonation will stay drinkable much longer, but for light ales and lagers that you intend to drink right away, the counter-pressure filler will let you drive away to the beach for a couple days and have fresh-tasting beer each day. This is a subtlety that is easy to miss, but it's not just decoration by any means. It's real money from the proprietors, and it gives us a real benefit. There are about a dozen sandwiches, all about $8-10 (I think). They come out very, very hot, wrapped in a couple layers' worth of thin parchment-type paper, taped, and then wrapped in a couple layers' worth of butcher paper and taped again. Definitely aimed at the to-go market. They serve soft potato chips, I imagine house-made, in little brown paper lunch bags. Everything about this place makes it easy to imagine that it will serve all the condos and apartments all through here very well. The staff are super nice, and the sandwiches are really good. I had the faux-reuben, which is essentially a reuben with no 1,000-island, called "The Irish Elk." My boy N had something that was gone in seconds, and I didn't ask what it was. Mine was almost too hot to touch for a minute, but everything was spot-on: chewy bread, tart kraut, meat was flavorful and tender. We found a Logsdon Conversion in the beer fridge, which is an unbelievable find these days, and snapped that up. The bottles are very, very well-curated, with a focus on good food pairings and well-made beers with great variety. Similar love for the draft pours, too. These guys are a bit more expensive, and they're more of a neighborhood joint, given the limited parking. But what they're doing, they're doing incredibly well. If you could relax and hang out here, you certainly would, though the low stools and the austere aesthetic nudge you to move along. This place would easily be five stars if it were a big casual hangout.

The down side, there was no down side. Love the well rounded beer selection. Sandwiches were great. Customer service was top notch when asked about beer choices. The home made chips were a great touch and we destroyed then while we waited.

Stopped in for a quick sandwich and was blown away by the quality of the food. Everything was homemade. The flavor was amazing. The Chef, Dexter came out and checked to make sure we enjoyed his creation. They also have an excellent number of local beers on tap. I highly recommend this place for anyone that wants a good quality and unique sandwich.

Hearty, juicy, and fresh artisanal sandwiches paired with nearly 50 taps of beers, ciders, wine, and house made sodas in a sharp modern-industrial space. There are vegetarian options. A good sandwich starts with a solid foundation. The bread from Macrina Bakery that these sandwiches are served on is perfectly crisp on the outside and delectably fluffy on the inside, allowing it to absorb all of the savory juices and sauce. All of the meats I have tried so far have been tender and bursting with flavor. The albacore has resulted in me, for the first time in my life, craving a tuna fish sandwich (the soft boiled egg on top doesn't hurt). I don't have a favorite yet, but am yearning to try them all. The homemade chips on the side are airy and crisp. They have an excellent selection of beers. They have a couple of fridges full of bottles for takeaway. They have their taps sectioned into categories like: Featured, Stouts, IPAs, Wheat, Belgian, Ciders/Wine and others. They serve a lot of unique microbrews and imports and have two sizes of growlers for those taken with their selection. The space is minimal modern-industrial and fairly spacious. They make great use of their space. They have several tables, two areas for bar seating, and if you continue around the corner another small room with a couple tables and a TV. The atmosphere and service is laid back. They also have appealing branding that will make you want to splurge on buying their merchandise. When they first opened, I was frustrated that they were running out of bread by around 8pm. I believe they have a handle on this now. The product is so good that it would still be difficult to deduct a star even if this were still occurring. As others have commented, the price seems more than fair on the sandwiches but the most of the beers are north of $5, some $10. However, it is all high quality stuff and mostly with a high ABV%, so I only need one or two here anyway. However, I would come here to takeaway a sandwich for lunch one day, and just to drink beers with friends at night on another. If you do have a budget, make sure to allow for parking, but you could probably find something on the street within a couple blocks.

Grabbed the Stonehenge sandwich to go (turkey, cranberry chutney, cream cheese, basil and aioli). Decided to hold the aioli. Found the chutney to be a tad sweet for my taste buds and apparently the basil was held too (the menu does have a comma between the basil and aioli!). Bread was good. Loved the chips and wanted more. Would try again and stay for the beer selection and other sandwich choices.

Oh my goodness. The roast beef melts in my mouth. Yummy unique sandwiches. Mastodon has roast beef, arugula, grilled carmelized onions plus I added mushrooms. This is what a roast beef sanwhich should taste like. Had a yummy Pilsner too. They have a lot of different beers. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Decor is pretty minimalist but functional. Plus they have parking!!! Definitely worth making checking this new place out!

At first glance, Mammoth is just a giant wall of beer. Several dozen taps, categorized by style. Several grinning bartenders lined up, ready to explain how it all works, or pour you a pint (or 4oz sample) of your chosen brew. I only skimmed a small fraction of the beer list, but they seemed to have lots of interesting options, with a general bias towards stuff brewed in the area. If the taps aren't enough, they also have a fridge full of bottled beers. That's all very nice, but beer wasn't what I was there for. I was told there would be sandwiches. Mammoth is a new sandwich and beer shop from the owners of Bitterroot BBQ. The sandwich menu is not displayed as prominently as the beer selection, but they are still quite serious about the sandwiches. Despite the prehistoric-themed names ('Hunter', 'Gatherer', 'Neanderthal', 'Saber-tooth'), most of the sandwiches are pretty recognizable. You've got your tuna sandwich ('Nessie'), fancied up with a soft-boiled egg. You've got your Italian sub ('Cro-Magnon'). There's a meatball-salami sandwich ('Caveman'), a take on the Reuben ('Irish Elk'), and a couple of pretty inviting vegetarian options. There's even a vaguely Cuban sandwich to fill the Paseo-shaped hole in our hearts, made with Bitterroot smoked pork instead of the more traditional roast pork. But my eye went straight to the Predator, a behemoth of a sandwich, with a fried chicken leg, pork belly, swiss, arugula, red peppers, and aioli. It was excellent, and for $10, a lot more substantial than I was expecting. (Given the general 'cool young person' vibe of this place, I was expecting a trendy little Portlandey sandwich that was gone in two bites. Not so.) The sandwiches also come with a little bag of house-made potato chips. I predict that this place will become a neighborhood institution. Today was their first day of business, and even though I went in at an off-peak time, there were quite a few people around. Once this place becomes better known, I'm guessing there'll be lines at mealtimes.

So much YUM. Tried this place for the first time last week and thought about my sandwich ALL weekend ha. I had the Stonehenge and it was a party in my mouth. Great service, very fast and such a good vibe. New fav sandwich place!!

Beer and sammiches!!! A winning combination. In the epic battle between predator vs. hunter, predator won by a long shot. Fried chicken AND pork belly on one sandwich?! Kill me now. The hunter was ok, but definitely on the salty side. I guess that means you'll drink more beer? Speaking of beer. There's so much beer here. Over 40 beers on tap to choose from, and the best part is you can order 4oz pours to see what you like. They also fill growlers and have a crazy selection of bottled beers to choose from. Our bartender was also super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about what's on tap. New favorite after this visit is a blood orange gose!

I mean, I get it. It's easy for restaurants to slap some vegetables on a bun and market it as their Vegetarian Sandwich. Restaurants like Naked City clearly put in a lot of effort with their exquisite beet burger--a sandwich that gets all aspects of flavor and texture totally right. And then there is Mammoth. The Herbivore sandwich is a pile of breaded mush swimming in oil. Vaguely eggplanty, vaguely oniony, overpowered by what tasted like the scrapings from the bottom of a deep fat fryer. A bad vegetarian sandwich is nothing to get upset about-- after all, I can find this kind of bland afterthought at any Chili's on the planet. It was the restaurant's response when both my boyfriend and I went up to the counter to let them know why we were leaving most of our sandwiches behind that really rankled. Being told that "everybody else loves this sandwich--how weird that you think it's bad!" is obnoxious (translation: "you are clearly crazy for not liking our sandwich!"), but the other counter person's offer to re-make my boyfriend's sandwich was almost humorous. In what mathematical equation is one shitty sandwich canceled out by a duplicate shitty sandwich? Add in one manager watching with complete disinterest as we attempted to convey how awful our experience was without even attempting to make it right, and we walked out swearing we wouldn't come back here until the next ice age.

Had the fried chicken and pork belly sandwich, and it was great. The beer selection is unbelievable, so many choices. Homemade chips were also perfect, highly recommend for a sandwich and beer, perfect after work spot.

Eat here!! Okay, seriously... their sandwiches are delicious. I live within walking distance so I will probably be back. Also, their homemade chips are amazing and I wish you could buy extra chips (maybe you can?!) because I usually polish them off before my sandwich is even ready haha. I've gotten Stonehenge twice- and it is delicious- but I should branch out. One small note- don't get their homemade rootbeer. It was good- but they promise 8oz for $4, and I swear I was given a tiny glass that the bartender swore was 8oz, and giving them the benefit of the doubt it was about 3/4 ice and 1/4 rootbeer. I went back assuming I would get a refill, nope! So, stick with the sandwiches! :)

These guys have a stellar selection of beers. Wierd barrel aged beers, seasonal speciality beers, IPAs, sour beers, strong Belgium style brews, ciders, milder pale ales and lagers, root beer (NA of course)- there really is something for everyone...... I've not yet tried the food- but the sandwiches look fierce (pork belly and a chicken leg on a sandwich for example). They sell many different kinds of beers in 22oz bottles as well. I'm told growlers are able to be filled- but I did not see anyone filling a growler while I was there. Might have something to do with the price- their bears are not cheap (one of my 8oz beers was $10.50). The interior can be a little challenging to get around- it's a long and narrow space- especially if you have four beers in their fancy glasses in your hands like I did. With that said- it has lots of windows and was light and bright. Knowing how dark the weather can be here- the use of the windows gives Mammoth a cool& bright feel when the sun is out. Street parking was found easily- and they have a small (affordable) paid lot right in the front. This is easily the best beer bar in Eastlake. Give it a shot- I think you'll like it.

This place was decent, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back... I got the cro-magnon and it was solid... stacked with meat, and very filling... however my buddy came and got the neanderthal and it was less than adequate... "pork belly" was, as he put it and showed us, "a couple of strips of McDonald's quality bacon"... worth the trip once to check it out and don't get the neanderthal, the experience with the one sandwich was pretty off putting...

Really good, rich sandwiches with an the rare combination of inspired and themed menu. Beautiful decor. Sandwiches took a little bit to come out but the homemade chips that you get to eat while you wait makes the time fly by. (I don't even like chips and thought they were incredible!)

These folks really did their homework! Fantastic brew selection, growler fills for many of those options too! Good casual food in a great casual environment. While this is going to be the new hang out spot in Eastlake (sorry Zoo and Eastlake Bar and Grill), it should also draw beer lovers from across the greater seattle area. I saw over 8 different Cascade beers in the "to go" bottled section...which just makes this place even more legit in terms of a local focus and quality of beers carried. WELL DONE!

For a sandwich place, this place deserves all the stars! It's so good! I ordered the Stonehenge, which is a turkey, cranberry, aioli, cream cheese combo. And I have to say, I've had this combo of favors before, but I was blown away at how different (but not too different) and amazing their take on this flavor combo was! So good. And the bread - it was chewy, had a crust, but still soft. I will most definitely be back.

This place has a great modern design and has and has a huge variety of beers on tap as well as a good selection if bottled import and domestic beers. We had the fried chicken sandwich and the mastodon (roast breef?). Both were delish! The only thing I didn't really like was the type of bread they used (kinda dry for my taste). The service was awesome, we will definitely be back!

DO NOT COME ALONE! Bring a friend so you are guaranteed a tasting of at least 2 sandwiches. We ordered the saber tooth and predator which were both incredible. Tons of beers on tap and awesome staff. Great vibe, would definitely come here again with more friends to get more sandwiches.

We have been here twice since moving in - there are a wide variety of sandwiches and even wider variety of beers. We don't have a favorite sandwich yet, but the beers were great. The kettle chips are really good. The service is also good. We will definitely be back, if only for a beer or two :)

THIS PLACE ROCKS! I can't express how happy I am to have this new Eastlake gem open up in my neighborhood. The only caveat - and I hope they change it - is they don't do the traditional Seattle happy hour. Hopefully that is just because they are new. But the space is great - light and airy, you can sit by the windows with a view of the park and Louisa's. Selection is wonderful, probably about 50 taps, and I often walk over and get my mammoth growler filled. The sandwiches are SUPER yummy. Also those home made potato chips are delicious. Cute stencils in the bathroom.

Wanted to update my previous review and give Mammoth another star. It was much more comfortable on our second visit. Don't know if they put film on the windows, or if it just wasn't as sunny as the last time we went, but we were able to enjoy our sandwiches and beer this time without blinding sun or sweaty temps. I had a very tasty "Hunter," which rates a solid 4 stars. I also sampled two of their featured brews, which did not disappoint. The service was relatively fast, the staff very friendly--just like last time. We also found free parking on the street just across the street, so didn't have to pay the $3/hr parking fee for the attached lot. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Seattle.

Me likey. Me likey very much. I should say I'm biased because I live right next door so who wouldn't love a sandwich and beer shop next door. BUT, they have a few different nitro beers which automatically earns a few stars, and their sandwiches are really really really good and everything is reasonably priced. Big portions so you can split one or have some for later, and it's kinda fun to have so many options of beer to choose from. Eastlake has been in desperate need of a lunch joint like this, and I'm very happy to have them as my new neighbor. They are way better than the crazy lady who lives across the street from me pacing her front yard.

Maybe the best Reuben I've ever had (it's called the Irish elk). We went back for more the next day. The "la tormenta tropical sour" was great too.

this is the old hiroshi', on eastlake. it's right across from louisa's, in the strip mall. you walk in and there is a showcase of beer in the bottle on the side and beer on tap behind this long counter. prices and categories stare you in the face. you can sit at the counter or grab a table and they will bring food to you. of course, i didn't know that and i sat down at a table. i ordered the predator, which is a chicken leg and pork belly in a sammie. it comes all wrapped up and didn't look that big, but it was a belly buster. i struggled to put it down. taste-wise, it was a bit salty and the red pepper became bitter the longer i got into it, but it was still good. i had a yeti and it was sort of short pour. when the foam evaporated, it was down a bunch and there was a brief pause. oh well, it's only been open a week and it will take a bit to get the kinks worked out. mega downer - the windows all face south and even though it was 40 degrees outside, the inside was a sauna. window shades coming up!

I'm simply going to copy and paste the text message I just sent to a couple friends... Ummmmm OMG the new place, Mammoth by my house (same owner as Bitterroot) is sooooo good and they're open 11-11. Every amazingly delicious (think Paseo) $8 sandwich comes with a cute half size paper bag of homemade potato chips (perfectly seasoned). They have a different homemade soup every day. Today was potato leek and it was almost as good as mine ;). Oh!!!! AND they have a cute little private room in the back with a big screen TV and seating for about 10-12.

Excellent sandwiches, over-priced beer. A sandwich, a pint, and tip will be $20. The sandwiches we had were delicious! They are a good size, filling but not gut-busting. The bread was soft, the meat had tons of flavor, and the sauces were outstanding. I like the way they wrap the sandwich up, making it perfect to take to-go. And while the sandwiches are a great value, the beer not so much. They do have many beers that are hard to find, so I can understand why those go for $8 per 12 oz. But many common Northwest beers are $6 a pint. One of the beers we ordered was charged more than was posted, and our server didn't seem to care much. I will definitely be coming back to pick up sandwiches to go, but won't be staying to drink.

This place just opened in my neighborhood so I was excited to check it out- it did not disappoint. It already had it's own atmosphere and the bar was full on a Tuesday night a week after they opened. The staff are great- happy to chat with you. There are 48 taps with something for everyone, and the sandwiches are so good. The food is informal- no plates or silverware, just un-fussy and top-notch. Whether you are a beer aficionado or not, it's worth checking out!

Happy New Year - first Yelp review for 2015! Mammoth is located in the former Tommy's, then Hiroshi's at E Louisa and Eastlake, new venture from the folks who brought you Bitterroot BBQ in Ballard. Website is mammothseattle.com - and yes, the photography really matches the excellent sandwiches they create. It's a little confusing upon arrival for our first visit. Recommendation - head directly towards the west end of the counter by the refrigerated case of bottled beers where the cashier is at. You'll get handed a tiny paper menu (front lists their signature sandwiches ranges from $7-11, the back is the checklist for the build your own sandwich, starts at $8). This is a walk up, place your order and pay at the counter, receive your beverages (on tap or bottle), then you get a numbered cube, sit at the counter or at a table. Your order will be brought to you. Pros - Friendly counter staff. Awesome hours, open daily 11am-11pm. Dine in or takeout. The husband was extremely happy with the amazing selection on tap or by bottle in the immense reach-in. He had one of the WA State ciders on tap ($6.50). The kiddo likewise said his house made root beer is now his favorite ($4, sorry RockCreek). The sandwiches we ordered comes wrapped in foil and then taped securely in butcher paper, whether its dine in or takeout. All orders come with a bag of tasty house made chips. Oh there's also seasonal soup ($5) and ice cream sandwiches ($6). The husband had the Hammerstone ($9) which contained ham, Swiss, soft boiled egg, lettuce, tomato, onion, aioli, and Dijon mustard in nicely toasted artisan bread. Kiddo had a custom made hot sammie with sliced pork belly, cheddar, provolone, and yellow mustard ($9). I enjoyed the Saber-Tooth ($9 on menu, $11 on website - price discrepancy) which was also on toasted artisan bread with Bitterroot's smoked pork, ham, Swiss, charred onions, pickle slices, Dijon mustard, and aioli. Note: this is the closest iteration for a Cuban-style sandwich for me. With this Mammoth creation, I wouldn't lose sleep whether Paseo ever re-opens or not. Cons: Parking could be an issue - no problem today because it's a holiday. But immediate lot is a pay lot, but decent adjacent street parking along Eastlake, if available. Restaurant layout isn't obvious upon entry (navigate as written above, so you aren't milling around by the compost/trash area wondering what to do). Maybe in the future signage like Order Here or posting their signature sandwiches on a visible board would be helpful. Ease up on the condiments on these awesome crafted sandwiches - the copious aioli and mustards kind of overpower the meats and cheeses. Their Bitterroot smoked pork and pork belly should be allowed to be the star. A little goes a long way! Thank goodness for thick napkins and wet-naps provided. We bussed our own table and sorted our trash based on signage, but there's no bus tub for beverage glasses so we left them with our numbered cube on the table. Navigation through the tight main aisle might be an issue for folks on crutches, via walker or wheelchair. I noticed folks with small children had to leave their strollers outside. For us non alcoholic or soda drinkers...there's water, but warm tap water. Not cold and no ice. Bleeech! Overall - a delicious addition to the Eastlake neighborhood!

Yum! One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My co-worker got me the Hunter sandwich and it knocked my socks off. Some might think it's on the saltier side, but I think it's just right. The chips are also unique and delicious. I will be visiting the store soon!

I've worked on Eastlake for a while and I would say it's lunch options are a bit scant around here. So I was so glad to have found a new lunch spot that's close to work and worth the $$. I ordered the"Hunter" and it was pretty tasty. It had steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, salami and provolone. The bread was nicely toasted, crunchy and chewy at the same time. The steak portion was very generous, and the beef itself was flavorful and juicy. Overall my first sandwich at Mammoth was satisfying. I'll surely be back here for a quick lunch some time soon.

I haven't had a sandwich or beer here that I haven't liked. My only complaint is that they give you the potato chips after you order and I never have the will power to wait until the sandwich arrives.

  • Jack J.

Great potential! Severely understaffed. One guy and one chef running the entire shop with an occasional 3rd. Takes forever every time I've been there. Even tried calling in an order early and still waited about 30 minutes for the sandwiches to be finished. Great food, great potential, not the most efficient execution. Also not great service, but also could be due to the fact that it is understaffed.

Imagine a large spacious loft-styled restaurant with concrete floors and a long bar counter spanning a good forty feet in the front and behind it at least 49 different draft beers on tap. All makes and models. From every city and country one can imagine. From the smallest micro breweries in Seattle and Brooklyn to German Austrian Polish Asian Jamaican Italian. From pale ales to IPAs to the darkest darks to wine flavored beers, coffee infused beer (of course) to beer aged in bourbon casks. They've got it all. If beer is your thing then this is your place. Frankly I had to snap a few photos because this is not something you very often anywhere else. If ever. As for the food it appears they only offer sandwiches at the moment. All seem uber-creative.

This place was worth the hype. We got a predator and a mastedon, and we each thought our sandwich was better than the other person's! So yummy. The house chips were awesome... Special seasoning really set them apart. They were also quite quick, and the food was hot. My friend is gluten free, and her sandwich was turned into a salad. The drinks were also generous, well priced, and good. Although it's mostly a beer place, my friend got the margarita and it was enormous.... And strong! They have board games there, and we sat for a couple of hours playing. Loved being able to hang out. We'll definitely be back!

Oh my stars...this place is simply fantastic! The perfect combination of great food, and a great beer selection, which includes a few sours if you're a fan such as I. I had to go for the gusto, and order the Predator. I am still thinking about this sandwich, and it makes my mouth water. I have considered flying up from my home state of CA just to get this sandwich, and enjoy a beer at this fine establishment. When I return to Seattle, this will be a MUST visit.

Sandwiches almost as good as Paseo and a fantastic beer selection. The parking lot location is a bit seedy, but the food makes it worthwhile. The predator sandwich was delicious with tasty chicken thighs leafy greens and delectable sauce. The bread is crispy and chewy as well. Service was a bit slow for a sandwich but worth the wait. The beer selection may actually make this more of a bar with sandwiches than the other way around. There are nearly 50 beers on tap with a huge selection from around the world and local craft beer.

  • Liz J.

Mammoth is LEGIT! The sandwiches are other-worldly, and the general food quality is super high. The homemade chips are killer, the beer selection is really impressive, and the staff is ALWAYS attentive and personable. I'm so glad that Mammoth came to my neighborhood.

  • Queen C.

Sandwiches are tasty, but expensive and small. They do have some creative ones, or you can build your own. Salads are awful - they throw the sandwich toppings in a styrofoam container and call it salad. Very limited dressing options. Very few gluten free options (you're stick with salad). Service was pretty poor, we at the bar while waiting for our food, I had to wait a whole then ask for water. We got a growler to go, then realized buying bottles of beer is cheaper. Worst part is the parking situation - there's a lot, but you have to pay and the sign is easy to drive by. We got a $43 ticket on a Sunday, having been there maybe 20 minutes.

Live in the neighborhood and was very excited for yummy sandwiches and good beer. The beer is great, but I have never ordered a sandwich that I have been pleased with. The meats are way to salty, bread often soggy and not crisp. I have gone five times, just want a good sandwich.

Cool new location that fills a bit of a void along Eastlake avenue. I love a good sandwich and usually get my fix from paseos (deceased), bongos or fishermen's green market deli. I probably like the sandwiches slightly better at these other 3 locations but this place has the added benefit of having an amazing variety of beers on tap. For people who are anal about their organization mammoth will also impress you with how they have their beers laid out.

The saber tooth and the hunter are absolutely amazing. Also, they have more beers on tap than I can count, plus a wide selection of unusual bottled beer.

They've been open a week, I've already been there twice. I might go back tomorrow before the Seahawks game.

On a Sunday evening looking for something to eat, my girlfriend finds this gem on yelp and boy was I happy. She knows my affinity for sandwiches and this place did not disappoint. I love their selection of beers and sandwiches. I ordered the predator and the girlfriend a saber tooth, both delicious. The guys working there are laid back and that's a big plus for me. Small place but my kind of place. It was dimmed yet had enough lighting. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to trying other sandwiches in the future.

Such an amazing find! Reasonable price, delicious food. I love love love all of their sandwiches. Their homemade chips are some of the best I've ever had. I love that they have fun games to play while you eat too. An excellent date spot or just casual place to hang out with friends. I would highly highly recommend this place!

Tons of great taps and bottles with no cracking/corkage fee. Exactly what Eastlake needed.

Welcome to the hood Mammoth! Go check out this place, eat a Saber-Tooth, drink a beer, and take a beer home. You won't be disappointed, I sure wasn't.

This place is awesome and Eastlake is now 100% better a place to live. Pros: Excellent, varied beer selection. Tasty sandwiches. Chill atmosphere. Easy to walk to, bus to or park at. small 4 oz pours so you can make your own flights. Good hours. Cons: Needs colder water in the tap. That's not a lot of cons. This place is the best.

Had to stop into my favorite sandwich place today to make this gorgeous day in Seattle complete. Their sandwiches truly are amazing. The Head Chef, Dexter is very amicable and you can truly see that he loves creating the fantastic tastes that this little place has to offer. He told us today about the slow roasting process of the Saber Tooth sandwich I was eating, which is their version of a Cuban. So delish. We've been there before and my kids (3 & 4 yrs) are in love with their Wooly Mammoth, which is a oohey gooey version of a PB&J with cream cheese added in. I took a bite of it the first time we visited and I can see why my youngest inhales it and why my eldest chooses to take little bites in order to make it last till the next day. They have a wonderful assortment of beers on tap and are more than willing to help make a recommendation on what to have with your meal based upon your beer taste preferences. I had their local stout brew infused with beer today and looked at my husband and said "we should have brought our growler," it was that good. A rich chocolatey taste with a deep dark sweet coffee aftertaste. I would definitely recommend any of my friends to try out their dishes. Hands down, very YUM!

What a gem! I have been waiting for a place like this to open in Eastlake for awhile now. Great beer selection and delicious sandwiches.

A fantastic beer line-up, great space, good sandwiches and nice staff. Very excited about this place. Note that their parking lot is a private paid lot. I was a bit frustrated when 3 of the 4 families we were with had their cars ticketed. Some notes/signage at the restaurant about the parking lot would go a long way towards saving folks some cash (so they can spend it on beer).

The first time I went, I got the Gatherer and the second time I ate there I had Stonehenge. Both times I felt like the proportions of bread to filler were off. I thought the Gatherer had too much bread relative to toppings, and the Stonehenge had too much turkey relative to the sauces. I was really hoping the Stonehenge was going to taste like a super deluxe cranberry soaked turkey slice, but there was barely any cranberry sauce or cream cheese. I was disappointed, but a sandwich is still a sandwich with tasty, crispy bread! My friends made better choices and were very happy with their meals, so next time I go back I'll get the Predator or Mastadon like my friends!! I do think Mammoth is a bit pricey because they paid about $18 each for a sandwich, a handful of chips and a beer. The service is great and ambiance is hip and cool, I know I'll be back to try another meal!

I usually don't spent time to write reviews but after sitting at Chuck's Hop Shop and reading the Stranger's Lunchtime! column by Paul Constant I had to chime in. He more or less said it was one of the worst sandwiches he has had in a long time. I totally agree except it is in my bottom 5 OF MY LIFE!!! I have had sandwiches from Paseo, Other Coast Cafe, Whole Foods, QFC, Petes, various bars, all over Europe and this WAS THE WORST!!! The "Saber-Tooth" was pathetic at best. I had to deconstruct the "sandwich" for 5 minutes to get all of the fat, gristle and other things you don't want to eat out. What was left was bland pork and a few ingredients that were so-so at best. Halfway through I was tempted to go into the bathroom and force puking so I could have something decent. And the decor? White on white on white on white. ZERO art, color, anything. I felt like I was in a morgue. Bottle shop? I have more bottles in my basement. The beer selection on tap was odd at best and the other thing that was strange to me, where are the growlers for sale? In the hour + I sat there I did not see 1 person fill a growler. I was hoping for SO much more. We need something in Eastlake so bad. I guess if I was making $100K+ working at Amazon and just moved here I would think this was great. PLEASE. If you want be better sandwich just walk down to Pete's and see deli Dave. Or get your ass in the car and go up to Capitol Hill. SUPER LAME, was really pulling for these guys becuase they are from Montana like my parents but now I have hoping they go out of business so we can get a better option. BOO BEARS!!! Anyone who gives this place 5 stars is either on crack or has never had a good sandwich in thier life and has never been to a real bottle/growler store.

I had a craving for a corned beef sandwich, so I stopped in. They only have one type of bread; a bagette. Corned beefo belongs on rye bread, in my opinion. Didn't stay.

Sandwiches and beer. And great chips. So simple and seemingly exactly what I was looking for. Great location and great decor. Had a really nice experience visiting mammoth right after it opened. Have been recommending this place to friends! Enjoy!

Had the delicious caveman sandwich. It's a nice filling sandwich cut in half. It came was chips that I didn't enjoy. They have lots of drinks on tap and bottled drinks. The atmosphere isn't too exciting and it's a bit pricey for lunch, but I'd go back to try other menu items.

The "chill" place Eastlake needed to grab a good beer and a tasty sandwich. Wide selection of beers and a dozen sandwiches offered made with Macrina's famous bread. Orders are placed at the bar and sandwiches are delivered to tables wrapped up, "to-go" style. Delicious home-made chips (wish we got more!). Really friendly staff with a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Great sandwiches. One of the best meatballs I've had anywhere. Great spices and flavor in the meat, not drowning in marinara, and salami! Could have used a little more cheese but warm toasty bread gave it a great crunch. Even the vegetarian options looked good which is rare for a sandwich restaurant. Tons of beer and not the normal big business flavored water you'd expect at a sandwich place. The guys behind the counter seemed knowledgeable and eager to help out if the list is intimidating. The decor I would describe as "Men's Room Chic" white tile counter top, lots of brushed aluminum but it was cool, the vibe was chill and just what you would expect for a sandwich place. House made chips with a great seasoning thrown in with every sandwich. Already been recommending it to friends and they all agree that it is awesome. Only thing I'll say is the sandwiches are smallish, but like others have said it is quality over quantity. Instead of getting that faux footlong come here. I did not leave hungry just begging for more!

Good mix of draft beer, specialty bottled beer, and tasty filling sandwiches. Still working out a few kinks in order-taking and the like, a learning curve that new places seem to go through anyway. It's not a cozy little tavern kinda space, but still a nice enough place for a good sandwich and beer. Oh yeah: regarding some of the more exotic specialty beers on tap: bring money. They're not cheap.

Hate to rain on the parade because I really really wanted to have a new place to go in Eastlake. I often work in bars so I hiked my laptop in and ordered a drink and homemade chips. the chips were fantastic. the drink a bit too sweet for my taste. But nothing compared to the bizarre service and atmosphere. The atmosphere feels like a deli met a high school cafeteria: cold and hard and uncomfortable. A man took my order (very nice, good service), and then inexplicably a woman came up desperately to ask that I please give her my card as she had to cash out. I always find this awkward for anyone to ask, but happy to tip someone out. However, she never came back with my card. it was as if they wanted to make sure I didn't walk out without paying my $8.00 tab. Fine. But then started the construction on the door. aye aye aye. There was drilling and hammering and banging. Could they not wait until after hours to do this kind of thing? I had to ask for my check and the guy looked at me like "who are you?" - All in all a bunch of dudes hanging out with other dudes in a cafeteria. Very disappointing.

Eastlake has been starving for a good food joint for at least 20 years, so we responded to Mammoth positively when we heard of its arrival. Tonight we rolled the dice and tried the Dodo and the Tusk and were completely underwhelmed. Hard baguette, a mountain of julienned iceberg lettuce (please ... what?), underseasoned turkey and chicken salad, pithy tomatoes. We were able to satisfy our hunger with the very tasty potato chips, thank goodness. Running a restaurant is a *profession*, not a hobby. If you're not up to it, save your effort and find something else useful.

The atmosphere is good especially in the evening. There are a wide variety of beers. I've tried several sandwiches there and found most of them were very greasy... The free chips they give for every order were salty. I like Uneeda burger more than Mammoth. But, it's still a good place to hang out with friends. Caution: Parking within the plaza is NOT FREE. It belongs to Diamond Parking. Remember to pay at the parking meter before going in!

Great sandwich shop!!! And if bread sounds too much for you, you can always ask to turn a sandwich into a salad! I'm so glad eastlake has a new edition to their lunch options in the neighborhood,

I'm kind of obsessed with Mammoth. Being one of only a few food options in Eastlake put it at the top of my radar and I was kind of hesitant to try it since I'm not a girl that ever gets excited about sandwiches. The fact that Mammoth is also boasting the reputation of everyone's beloved Bitterroot in Ballard definitely pushed me to wander in one evening and I haven't regretted it at all. The space is open and bright and has come a long way since it was Hiroshi's. One wall houses a wide selection of bottled beer and specialty sodas that entirely make up for the lack of stores (with the exception of Pete's) in the neighborhood and the long bar has something like 50 rotating taps of even more fun beer options, as well as a house made soda (last I saw, it was watermelon flavored, but this changes). Their sandwich offerings make my mouth water and each creation has a fun prehistoric-themed name, like Nessie or Wooly Mammoth. I've tried a few of their sandwiches, including the Neanderthal (featuring pork belly), the Mastodon (roast beef), and the Tusk (pork belly AND turkey), but I've recently been absolutely in love with and addicted to the Nessie, which is a simple albacore tuna sandwich with a soft boiled egg and some serious garlic. I'm serious about the addiction-- I ate it three times in a (particularly stressful) week once and I was still not tired of it. If none of their pre-meditated sandwiches appeal to you then you can build your own. Each sandwich comes with house-made chips that are absolutely delicious. They also have rotating flavors of ice cream sandwiches and daily soups, neither of which I've tried (but it's only a matter of time). Mammoth has successfully converted me into a girl that likes sandwiches, at least some of the time. They were a much needed and very welcome addition to Eastlake. I highly recommend stopping in.

Great sandwiches and an awesome beer selection. Predator is A+. Sandwiches are on par with Royal Grinders with a more varied selection. Plus they have beer. Lots of beer.

Sandwich was great! I ate the Stonehenge sandwich and it was very fulfilling. Their complimentary chips we're good too. My friend had the potato and leek soup and it had great flavor. We loved the atmosphere, it was decently priced and our service was great. They also had a great beer selection, bottles and taps (something like 42 different beers on tap).

I have not stepped foot in the place. For that I give it 4 stars. The 4 stars I give they've earned without question. On two different occasions I've had a room temperature leftover sandwich brought home to me from this place and all I have to say is they blow Paseo's out of the water. I stand by those words. Perhaps I will go visit them and hate the atmosphere, who knows. If that is the case I will take my Saber-Tooth to go but judging by the tap list I think I will be perfectly at home there.

I visited Mammoth for lunch on the second day they were open. I came around noon, and the place was busy, but not crowded. Sandwiches are in the $8-12 range, so not quite as cheap as the Hamlin Market down the road. But, after seeing the high quality of the Irish Elk sandwich I ordered (corned beef, swiss cheese, thousand island sauce for $10), I felt the price was perfectly reasonable. And every sandwich comes with a small bag of homemade of potato chips, so you end up getting a little more than just a sandwich for the price. The sandwich was awesome -- certainly in the top 10-20% of reubens I've had. Would order again. I had a bite of my wife's sandwich, the Nessie, which was equally great. Can't wait to come back and try one of their gazillion beers on tap. FYI, I noticed that the prices on the draft beers varied widely, from $5 to over $10, with a lot in the $8-10 range. As for the place itself, I appreciated the large windows that let in a lot of light.

Mammoth is just what the gem that is Eastlake needed. Delicious sandwiches and 48 beers on tap...could you ask for anything more?! I've been waiting in anticipation for this to open and have not been let down. The staff is super friendly and wanting to help with your beer and sandwich choice. Way to go Mammoth, you've created an addict!

My new favorite place on Eastlake. Not fussy, just good sandwiches and awesome beer. The staff was super helpful and I tried things that I loved outside of my beer comfort zone.

I work a few doors down so the location is pretty convenient. The most delicious sandwich I've had (so far) is the Predator - you really can't go wrong w/a chicken leg and pork belly! Yum. I've actually had a lot more of their beer and ciders - the variety is stunning, the employees are really informative and attentive, and whatever you're looking for you will find. The hours are pretty awesome (11-11) but I would say that parking might be an issue. I never worry because, again, I work a few doors down, and we have our own private parking lot but it's probably different for people who need to find a place to park. Sure there's lots of street parking but I think the most annoying thing is that Mammoth is in a paid parking lot. Anyway, highly recommended if you want delicious sandwiches and an awesome variety of brews! Check it out!

Unreal sandwiches. Cromagnon and Reuben (Irish Elk) are amazing. Beer selection is delish. Good ciders. Chaider is really good. Fun place. Makes East lake a legit destination food venue.
