Came for a visit & while in the city came here just on a whim with my brother & ordered the potstickers & chicken broccoli. Food was tasty! The Thai ice tea was awesome! He ordered the general chicken which was good too plenty of broccoli!

I was pleased to try the Vietnamese menu and settled on the Vermicelli with roast pork. It was gone before the server could get back to ask me how it was. The place must have been between the dinner versus bar rush, as it was empty. But I didn't feel unwelcome or strange. Definitely adding to my regular haunts.

Food was just ok -- egg rolls were a little too greasy but spring rolls were good. Would have given this 3 stars, but they made a critical error in my order which makes me drop it to 2. Their fatal error was in giving me a chicken fried rice instead of vegetarian. Took me a few seconds to figure out that I hadn't tasted anything like that in a long, long time. My meat-eating husband confirmed that it was indeed chicken and in no possible way tofu. Sadness!

Horrible service. Just awful. Will never order from again. I ordered delivery and was told it left the restaurant at 10:25 pm. I live about a 5 minute drive from the restaurant. At 10:50 it had still not arrived and I called again. I was told "I don't know what's taking him so long..." I then asked for a refund of my money and was told there was no manager there, and the girl who answered didn't know how to issue a refund. The food arrived 38 minutes after it supposedly left the restaurant and was lukewarm. When I asked the driver what the issue was, he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. The food was awful as well. I was very disappointed and will not order from them again.

Just......no I got chicken pho, sis got vegetable. And chicken fried rice. I was so disappointed. Chicken pho was alright, but the fried rice, the chicken was orange and in not even sure it was chicken...? Maybe it was egg idk. It was rubbery and chewy and the rice had absolutely no flavor. It looked like white rice with peas carrots and orange (chicken or egg).

The worst food ever. Just plain awful. If you enjoy good food then don't bother. If you eat just to survive then feel free to try. Just plain awful.

Update: I have ordered delivery twice since my last review, and both experiences were better than a two. Delivery was prompt -- within 45 minutes both times. The mixed seafood fried rice was not bad at all, and they give you a gigantic portion! Thai chicken wings were not the best in the world, and the sauce was a tad too sweet, but I enjoyed them and might order them again. Beef skewer appetizer was a bit tough although flavorful. I didn't like the egg foo young at all -- it was a generous serving but needed more (and thicker, tastier) gravy. Overall, I think a bump is warranted, so there you go.

King County Health Department visited on July 17 2015 and shut them down. The following were noted: Lotus Asian Kitchen & Lounge located at 901 Madison St, Seattle 98104 was closed by a Public Health food inspector on July 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm due to the following food safety violations: Poor personal hygiene practices, hand washing and bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods Handwashing facilities inaccessible and not working Foods not protected from cross-contamination Potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures The establishment will be reopened once the inspector confirms that all issues have been resolved.

Pretty decent Asian food for late night delivery! The food was delivered in about 40 mins as told. It was also still warm!

I ordered delivery through the Eat24 app and they arrived on-time. I had the curry with chicken and it was incredibly bland and boring. The deep fried egg rolls were fine, though.

Good for late night food. Also delivery is awesome Got the Mongolian Beef and it was good.

Shockingly good. I can't count the number of times I passed this place and wrote them off as a bar. What makes them interesting is they have a complete Chinese menu and another for Vietnamese. Talk about hard to decide...it's a little bit overwhelming. I got the vegetarian vermicelli rice bowl and it was amazing; if you're not a vegetarian, GET THE FISH SAUCE! My daughter had the General Tso chicken and it was also really good. Will definitely go back and highly recommend you stop passing them by too, worth a visit. My only complaint is its a bit stinky, like stale fried food and not well lit, but the food seems to be their salvation. Good service and friendly helpful staff since the extensive menu is akin to making a serious life decision.

Ugh. So. Bad. I'm not sure what to make of the fact that there are so many decent reviews. Drunk people? Everything tastes awesome when you are wasted. That can be the only reasonable explanation. We got into town late and looked up restaurants near our hotel, chose this one. What a mistake. How do you mess up sweet and sour chicken and beef broccoli?! Everything was soggy, limp and greasy. We didn't even eat more than a few bites and threw it all out. Don't do it!

    (1)
  • Lindsey T.

Well, that was disappointing. On the plus side, we ordered in and delivery was super fast- under 20 minutes. Pictures of the hot and sour soup looked tasty so I ordered it. It came in a huge container- about 3 cups worth. Unfortunately, something was missing. It was like they forgot the "sour" part. It looked way more complex than any other hot and sour soup I've seen, but it really lacked flavor. I also had the chicken wings. They were very bland. Maybe I'm just used to Pok Pok (the best wings ever) but they were not good at all. And they were laid on top of onion and garlic. Where were those flavors in the wings? My bf ordered the duck and said it was awesome. He said it was cooked perfectly.

I wanted to like this place seeing as there aren't many food choices late night but it was bad both times I tried. 1st time I ordered Mongolian beef which had a bad oily/greasy taste overwhelming the meat. I tried a 2nd time out of hungry desperation and got a noodle dish that was nothing short of awful, bland noodles that left a terrible after taste that I couldn't get rid of for hours. Aside from the bad food the prices are too high even if the food was decent. It's too bad this place was bad on both tries because this area desperately needs some decent food options.

My friend and I ordered delivery on a Friday night. We didn't have too high of expectations but nevertheless were disappointed. The fried rice was dry and the BBQ pork appetizer had a sauce that seemed to be a mixture of ketchup and mustard with sesame seeds dumped on top. Way too mustard-y! The dumpling meat was greasy to the extreme with an off-putting sauce. The only positive was the chow mein which was moist, and the shrimp was tasty.

Coming here on a Wed night around 11pm, it was pretty empty. The phone kept ringing a lot because this place does do delivery and pickup. I may try that another time. In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant itself is very traditional and is pretty roomy. You could probably combine tables for a group of 8 or 10. It was very late (past 11PM) so it was pretty empty otherwise. A lot of people at this hour were mostly going in to pickup their order. I ordered the combo Pho and fried rice to go. The Pho was surprisingly pretty large for what I thought and had a lot of beef briskets in it. I also ordered the fried rice to go. The prices are a bit higher but given the portion sizes (and the containers for take-out are pretty sturdy), I was fine with that. By the way, when I was here there was only one waitress taking care of all the phone calls and serving. And my goodness the waitress was one of the calmest people ever. Despite all the hectic phone calls and running between the kitchen and the desk, she always kept a calm demeanor and a nice smile. She may have forgotten my water for a while but honestly, given all she had to do, it is understandable.

Amazing food! We walked from our parking(plan ahead for parking) at about 9:30p and stopped here for some genuine Asian food. The Fried Wontons are a must for an appetizer to try, and I had ordered the Combo Pho. Very delicious and large quantity, I promise you won't be able to finish all of it! Husband ordered the Mongolian Beef and Broccoli/general tso 's chicken and he seemed to eat it fairly quickly. Cooked to perfection. Highly recommend to visit!

My husband and I often order delivery from here. We always get the same thing, because.. well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. In order to get free delivery, your bill has to be over $35.Therefore our menu consists of the Australian beef dish, house special chow mein, and shrimp fried rice. The beef is tender and delicious and a great portion. The noodles are one of my favorites in the city. They are thick udon type noodles which are soft and chewy. Yummmy carbs. The ONLY problem with delivery is their packaging. Two out of the three times we got delivery, they chow mein container broke and spilled into the bags (very similar to the frustration Larry David felt in an episode of Curb your Enthusiasm). Other than that, if you live in Capitol Hill, this might be your best bet for reasonably priced and good Chinese food.. that delivers!

We have had delivery from here multiple times, and tonight we finally made it in to check out what they did with the old first hill bar and grill. The owner, respected the old owners wishes and has kept the old murals on the walls, while adding beautiful hand crafted screens and flair. The service was great, the food is always good, delivery or in house (I'm thinking im ilove with the springrolls). I'd like to see them do more with the bar, and make a great late night spot for maybe karaoke? Living in the city has it's ups and downs, but someone once cleaning something at six in the morning is the least of my worry, I have bums in my ally at 4am, and sirens at all hours. But it is indeed part of living downtown.

This restaurant has rude owner, bad food and rats in the restroom. This is my first review ever to a restaurant because i am still feeling mad. 2 weeks ago i had lunch there and didn't like the food because the fried rice was not cook well enough and the soup is to salty. I made complaint to the owner. The owner is a super rude person. He said all the food was made according to the chinese way and it is suppose ti be cook that way. I like the waiter there with good attitude. I am just pity for the waiter. He is talented person. He did everything perfect but seem like the owner screw things up. Why did he end up with the horrible, stupid and rude owner like that? When i got to the restroom. I heard the sounds of rats. There were a lot if them. It was so gross i got out of there immediately. It was a nightmare to me. Never go back there again. The service of waiter is why i gave one star.

This is Chinese take out. Nothing special, but nothing wrong either. The proportions are large so I guess that you can say that its worth its price. I ordered online and they were pretty speedy! I think the wait was under 30 minutes. Lotus Kitchen was pretty convenient too because they are open a little bit later than other neighboring places. I had ordered the General Tso's chicken, pork fried rice and beef chow fun. The chicken was delicious but the rice and noodle were bland. There just wasn't enough seasoning sauce. My least favorite was the rice which was so dry that it looked like regular rice with itty bittiesnin it.

I come to this place a lot because it's open till 2am and it's by my house. They have great flavors but I'm always disappointed with the noodles. Way to soft. Weird corn starch texture thing going on. But awesome wontons and pho.

This is one of my favorite places to go grab lunch. The place is spacious so you will never have to wait for a table during lunch. The service is great here. The lunch price can be a bit expensive. You expect to pay around $12 for lunch so if you want a cheap lunch this is not the place to go! I tried their pho and I think it's overpriced. Their broth doesn't really have flavor and they don't give you enough meat. I like their lunch rice dishes though. My favorite is the salt and pepper shrimp. You have a choice of taking the shell off or keeping it on. It taste better with the shell on but I like mines without the shell.

Delivery was quicker than promised. Food was hot and tasty. Ordered the lunch special and it was a big plate. Lots of white rice and the broccoli side was even tasty. The orange chicken was the fatty pieces of chicken but cooked well and it was a good sauce. The general Taos. Was really good though

Just got out of VMMC with my dad, husband and sister and we were all very hungry. Racking our brains about where to go as my sister had to get back to work. In the car I read reviews saying how great this place was and how delicious the food was and we were right across the street, so we thought why not? I'll tell you why not, the service was very poor and slow, the food was absolutely wretched and awful. Three in our party (of four) ordered HOT tea, the server said Iced? and we said no HOT. I watched as she grabbed a pitcher of iced tea from the cooler and went to the kitchen to heat the cold tea. She came back and the tea was not even room temperature, when my dad said he wanted it hotter, she didn't seem to understand the concept of hot tea and barely reheated the tea. We ordered fresh rolls which were nothing exciting and the peanut sauce seemed as though it came out of jar. We also ordered Orange Chicken and Spicy Eggplant, both dishes tasted of vinegar and no spice and no orange flavor at all. The food was absolutely terrible and I would not recommend eating here EVER. I wanted to like it but it was just so crappy I couldn't. I question the people who recommended this place and gave it such rave reviews and must think that they don't have any taste buds.

Ambience is terrible and service isn't good either, but some of the food is pretty good. I enjoy the honey walnut prawns -- but I specifically order them crispy and ask for the sauce on the side -- otherwise, the shrimp comes so overdressed that there is no crispiness. The peking duck with onion pancakes is very good. At times it is a little greasy, but overall a very flavorful dish. The fried rice is pretty good -- but only if you add chili sauce -- it's pretty boring otherwise. My husband likes the mongolian beef. There have been some misses too - the Egg Fu Yung was terrible and the pork vermicelli bowl with egg rolls is just okay - it pales in comparison to the noodle bowl at Monsoon in Bellevue (where they will substitute pork belly for chicken -- note that the Seattle location of Monsoon will not do the substitution). The service is terrible. They are consistently understaffed -- I'm told that's because they do so many deliveries. Here's an idea ... hire someone to do deliveries who isn't counted on for being in the restaurant to adequately serve your dine-in customers. it's so close to our home that we'll still come here -- but there is better Chinese and Vietnamese in Seattle.

Ordered delivery here the night we packed up and moved. They listened to our requests for utensils (since ours were packed) and everything was packaged very well. No spills etc. Food was delivered quickly. Taste-wise it was was pretty good. Orange chicken and honey walnut prawns were yummy. Honey walnut prawns were the best. If I ever want Chinese food at 11PM on first hill, I will be going here for the prawns. Only 3 stars because the chow mein was wack. We ended up throwing most of that away because it's basically like eating flavorless calories. Would have given 4 stars if the chow mein tasted like anything.

I ordered food from Lotus last night (around midnight) because I was craving Vietnamese, esp. pho. What I ordered: well-done beef pho, fried squid, fresh rolls (with the rice paper), and shrimp fried rice. The delivery was about 45 min, not sure if that's fast or not for a place that relies on delivery as one of its main attractions. Anyway, the food came and I was moderately happy with what I got. The pho was excellent. It came piping hot and with all of the essential condiments (plum sauce, jalapenos, noodles, basil, sprouts) and the meat. The fried squid was meh. It was a little cold which probably lowered the quality. I think that anything fried is only good when it's steaming hot. The fresh rolls were ok but I noticed a hint of chicken in them. I was under the impression that they had shrimp in them and that was it. It wasn't bad, just a surprise. As for the fried rice...it never came : ( I instead ended up with fried tofu bites. I don't know if the person I spoke with on the phone didn't understand me or if the order was just messed up but it was disappointing. Overall, I would order for the pho alone but nothing else is really worth the time and $.

Excellent food. Good service. Friendly people. Short ribs were amazing and the waiter agreed to serve my wife and I "half-orders" on our items so that we could order exactly what we wanted. One of the best meals we had on our weekender.

I had a really great time here, twice. Both times were so quiet at night, though I have peered in the windows and seen more activity during the day. I chose to have the house pho with extra meat balls and mango juice. The two male staff were extremely helpful and gracious, made me feel very welcome. The next time I had to bring my wife and she had a veggie pho. The quality of the food felt very nourishing -- good quantity/ratio of meat to noodles -- and I got good vibes. UPDATE 2014-02-27: Came back with my Bro. Unexpectedly delish: the house chow mein, CRISPY version. My Bro made the case for trying house signature dishes and while it wasn't particularly strange or anything, it was very tasty indeed -- alternated it with the pho, unlikely but yummy.

Great customer service! Open til 1am, pick up for take out was absolutely no wait at all at midnight when I called in our order. Food was terrible. Potstickers, deep fried pork egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, and chicken fried rice. For $60, I would've liked to eaten some of it. Super disappointed.

I had ordered the Orange Chicken and what was delivered was almost the complete opposite. Not only were they understanding at 2am they were back at my door within minuted with the replacement. The food was delicious and the respect from whomever answered and took my complaint will definitely make me a repeat customer. I HIGHLY recommend the "deep fried wontons" which are their version of crab rangoon.

I wanted to try this restaurant since it opened and today was my first time ordering... though I didn't feel like sitting there and waiting so I ordered online instead. First off, they got my order ready as soon as I got there... it was lesser than 30 mins..I assumed (I don't know why... but I did) that everything was right and I was good to do... Got home... I knew I chose "brown rice" with my General Tso chicken... and I ended up with white rice... (ughh...) So here's what I ordered: General Tso Chicken, Salt and Pepper Fried Squid, House Special Chow Mein and Deep Fried Egg Rolls.... All I can say is...the food was okay... I tasted better... I mean really I don't have much to say about it... I am not head over heels for their food... Just being brutally honest... LOL

Absolutely foul. I'm seriously suggesting you order from somewhere grungy on The Ave before you trust this place. The pork in the dumplings was raw! My boyfriend and I ordered in last night and if I hadn't bitten into the dumpling and taken a look we might be in the hospital. I feel pretty crappy just from the half of one I ate. The pork was ground with carrots and lemongrass and it was pink and looked like cat food. It fell apart and the dumpling wrapper was still raw. It was clear that they had maybe boiled them for a second and then flash fried it and called it a night. SO NOT OK. The Pho was passable but that's the only thing. The chicken and short ribs tasted old and they were both cooked to the point of gristle tough. The fried rice was cold and under fried and the vegetables in it were like the frozen green giant cubes. Absolutely horrid. I only ordered from this place because of the grubhub four star rating. But I'm beginning to understand that the grubhub reviewers tend to be drunk college students who don't value their health. Please avoid this place.

I've been here a few times and I have to say the food I've had here has been consistently 5 stars. They are open late and make great strong pour cocktails as well. Every time (except one) that I have ordered the same thing, the vegetarian vermicelli. Noodles are fantastic, tofu and fake meat cooked deliciously crispy and the veggies fresh and crisp. All around absolutely delicious. I see all of the bad reviews on here are people who have ordered Chinese food at a Vietnamese restaurant... So perhaps stick to Vietnamese food at the Vietnamese restaurant? Duh.

I've only ever gotten delivery but I love this place for late night delivery. They're open late, their food is pretty good. I always like the pho and appetizers. Some of the other items were kind of a miss for me but the delivery comes pretty fast and there's no delivery fee! Wooohoo! It's pretty yummy and when I can stay home and get late night delivery, I'm a happy girl :)

My boss and I had been craving fried rice for a week and there isn't a good option close enough to walk to so we decided to try this place out. First of all, it took an hour and a half to get our food after we'd ordered. I called after an hour and the restaurant said the driver had left already, they were nice but after an hour and a half I kind of expect a little more than an apology. Second, the fried rice was a little on the luke-warm side when it arrived. And the bok choy in the won ton soup was too large to fit in one bite but hard to chew into smaller bites. The hot and sour soup was great and a little spicier than I'd expected. But that's a plus for me. The food is overall good but I don't recommend getting delivery.

This place is pretty chill, i'm not going to lie its a very nice atmosphere and its well kept. The only problem I really have is its a little pricey and its not as great as i expected. I ordered the calamari and the beef fried rice. The calamari literally tasted like nothing at all, even though there were bits of fried garlic and herbs sprinkled on top of it, there wasnt much flavor to it at all. I was a little disappointed but i finished it anyway. The beef fried rice wasn't that bad, but then again there wasn't much flavor to it, i basically had to pour hella sriracha sauce all over the rice to taste something, but i ain't even complainin'. I feel like they could make some small improvements with the flavors. But other than that i think everything's pretty cool. The service is great.

I ordered out, so I can't speak to their service. I ordered 3 dishes, all of which were disappointing. Everything was bland and tasteless. The food arrived in a timely manner, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. If you are very picky and don't enjoy a lot of variety, you might like this place. The food existed, arrived quickly, and did not poison me, but that's about it.

I love movies. I live a good portion of my life on Netfilx. Scouring their library for unknown titles, elusive foreign flicks. But, I hate spoilers. I want to go into a movie knowing as little as possible. I want surprise. Something different. I don't want to know if the guy gets the girl, or he's only dreaming the entire time(total cop-out in my opinion). This was definitely my first experience with the brand new foray for Green Leaf owners in their new location on First Hill in Lotus. Particularly one dish... More to come. You should know from the start (yes, major spoiler alert), that you will be able to taste something different from the main offerings of pho, and other Vietnamese staples available at the two other Green Leaf locales. Yes, they have pho, but live a little and try something new. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken, some fresh spring rolls, stir fried rock cod, their version of jajang myon complete with spaghetti noodles. The last to arrive is the reason I'm writing this article... When we first entered Lotus, the first thing I noticed was the shocking lack of customers. I got there a little late, 7.40pm. I didn't know it had just opened two weeks ago, and that after Could be a fluke. Not a valid strike. Second is the decor. Nothing special. Third up is bad piano elevator playlist from what must be some evil music server. No matter, just order a drink while you wait for dishes and strike up a conversation with whoever you're fortunate enough to be with and let the music fade away. In epic dining fashion, we're fortunate to get the duck last. They use the leg, bone-in, for maximum flavor. There's some kind of magical spice involved, and the topper is the sauce, which is a reduction of the drippings from cooking said fowl, with additional spices infused for even more flavor. Wrap a chuck of the braised meat in the bread that accompanies the dish presented in a bamboo steaming basket, and your mind will be blown. Before I even finish my first bite, I'm already imagining my second visit and ordering at least one more of these. The levels of flavor here and not easy to find, in my limited experiences dining around Seattle. I don't like giving away the crazy twist to the third act in an epic movie, but this was it. I can't help myself. It's been months since I tasted something new, original. And get this - After talking to the manager, I learned that their menu is just a test. I hope there's more minor masterpieces in store... But I'm going to have to talk to them about changing up the music. Haha. first world problems are awesome, no?

The first time I ordered from this place I got sick, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I liked the fried rice and the spring rolls were the best I have had in Seattle. The second time I order I got a chow mein type noodle dish, and let me tell you those noodles tasted like plastic. In addition, the chicken that came with it tasted pretty terrible. And without fail, I got sick again. I will not be ordering from the Lotus ever again, and I suggest everyone stays away. In addition for the overall plethora of crappy tasting food (minus the spring rolls) this place costs waaay too much. If you are looking for American style chinese food and don't want to get sick, I suggest China First. While it's reviews aren't great it was about 100x better than this place, and it cost about half to one-third the price. Also delivery from here was VERY slow.... over an hour wait.

Lotus Asian Kitchen rose after the demise of the First Hill Grill which is the location it now occupies The paucity of restaurant options on the Hill make this place a welcome addition and with hours that are very generous being open till 2am. They are trying to figure out what do with the menu since they are mostly a vietnemese place with some Chinese fare thrown in. Not really fusion just with two menus with two kinds of cuisine. stuff tried: Pho with all the fixings (tendon, beef ball, rare brisket, etc..) $9.50. decent. nothing to write home about fried spring rolls: tasty and crunchy. Staff seemed very nice, very interested in making this branch of the Green Leaf restaurant take off. Location makes it ideal for folks working in First Hill.

In such a convenient place and gets pretty packed during lunch when everyone from all clinics on Broadway and First Hill are out. I usually go here after my sister had introduced me to the place. Couple orders we had were the chicken and mushroom soup which was pretty decent and it's simple. It's like a Chinese egg drop soup but with a bit of veggies, chicken and mushroom. We usually order the vermicelli and you can never go wrong with vermicelli. It's so good here, but again, it's cause you can never mess that up. Although, one favorite dish were the fresh salads. I forgot which one we had ordered, but it was so refreshing! It was like a papaya salad alternative. Makes me want to try all of their salads, but that certain one was just so good. As for service, it was always good each time we were in. Happy people although they are busy :)

Is it a late night in Seattle? Are you hungry and don't want to go out? Are you sick of the same pizza you always get? Do you begin to ignore reviews from yelp that say, "DON'T GO HERE I GOT FOOD POISONING" because you're fucking delirious and YOU WANT SOMETHING OTHER THAN A CALZONE FROM AMANTES FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A MONTH, DON'T YOU, YOU PRECIOUS ANGEL. Me too. But now I'm vomiting. Dangit! People have things to do! They have lives and loves and good food to eat. Don't inhibit them because you don't know how to cook meat correctly or remove your hairs from noodles or wash your hands properly.

My husband loved his food (papaya salad and spring rolls) and the beer selection. I was put off by the decor (exposed wires) and bathroom (dirty, dark, no paper towels). Didn't get sick!

The green mango salad!!!!! I've never tasted anything like it. We had it and the seabass. Both were delicious and moderately priced. I'll definitely go back and try more dishes.

This place is a weird one. Have only had tasks out from here and each time it's been just as good as the last except for their deep fried wontons. Those have never been good. Regardless of the time that I've ordered them. Why do I keep coming back then? Because everything else is delicious, they just need to work on the wontons. Really good customer service as well. I don't need a lot of upkeep, just my drinks refilled and my order taken. No frills place. Give it a try.

Maybe it was purely my hangover, but I was truly unimpressed with my food. My friend seemed to enjoy his, but he can write his own review :-) Chicken Fried Rice w/ Pineapple - quite flavorless Crispy Fried Wontons - not so crispy, a little more towards soggy

I have eaten here numerous times and try something different each time. Today I had the Tan Tan Noodles and the dish had no flavor. It reminded me of canned beef gravy with chopped veggies, ground meat and noodles. Very disappointing, but I won't give up on them yet. Dishes I would recommend are salt and pepper squid and Mapo tofu.

I would say this is one the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Their menu is over-priced for the quality and taste. We ordered three entrees and not one plate was decent tasting. Their meat entrees seemed to taste very gamey, which over-powered the other ingredients in the dish. I would not go back again.

Heard about lotus recently and have already been there thrice. Absolutely love their fried rice! People are extremely courteous. It really helps that they are open until very late in the night.

Great pho', great pork vermicelli, weird Pandora stations in the background, quick service. I love this place.

First time customer... PROS: All food cooked and seasoned perfectly. Fast delivery! CONS: Not a lot of Ribs came with the order. NOTES: Salt and pepper shrimp is not shelled before frying.

The spring rolls (non-fryed) were extremely delicious! They added a new twist by placing a fried rolled up shell inside the spring roll. The Mongolian beef had to of been the most tenderized beef I've had at an Asian restaurant. It wasn't your typical over cooked beef you normally get at other restaurants. The chicken wings were also decently fried and not overly oiled. My recommendation. Definitely order the chicken wings and the spring rolls! The manager and chef were extremely nice. They consistently checked how we were doing throughout our entire meal. Very friendly and humble people.

My girlfriend's combo meal was very tasty but my chicken dish was extremely chewy, fatty, grisly, and inedible. Might have been dog.

So I ordered using grub hub and specifically wrote that I am allergic to peas and peanuts. Then my order comes with peanuts on my fried rice. I couldn't eat anything they delivered for fear of dying. I called and asked to be refunded and was told the boss would call me back and I never received a call. I have called back three times now and have received the same answer and still no call back from a manager or anything. Never ordering from here again.

A pretty decent Asian restaurant in first hill. I ordered some Hong Kong style chow mien and it was pretty enjoyable. More than enough food for one person. Also ordered the crab Rangoon which is always delicious. The place looked to be able to seat a fair number of people which is also really nice. The wait staff are all quite friendly. Overall this place is pretty average. Good but nothing crazy.

Surprisingly good! While working at Virginia Mason, I stopped with two coworkers to eat. The place is a little run down but we were surprised at how good the food was. All three of us enjoyed our lunches. The General Tso's chicken was very good. Worth stopping if you're in the area.

This place deserves endless business! The mu shu pork was so delicious and I've never had REAL home made, steaming hot, buttery plump Asian pancakes before, but absolutely fell in love! The customer service was also outstanding. We accidentally ordered a dish that was too spicy and before we could even ask for something else, they were already remaking it, no questions asked. Seriously recommend this place. I'll definitely be back with all my friends!!!

I'm always amazed at how quickly the orders are delivered. Food is of decent quality, but I have a hunch it's loaded with MSG, and there's always something odd about the food that I can't put my finger on - I think it's because it seems too uniform to be 100% fresh. I'm also able to devour plates upon plates of the food and never get stuffed, but damn is this stuff delicious. They are always extremely friendly when delivering or when I call. Definitely some of the best Asian food in Seattle.

Prices are high for the quality and portion size. There isn't actually a happy hour here, I don't know why places keep saying it has one?

We'd never heard of Lotus before when my wife and I stopped in to kill some time and have a snack. We were surprised by the Vietnamese Spring Rolls, which would have been remarkably good even without the "crispy stick" that gave them a delightful crunch. And then we tried the Salt & Pepper Tofu, which was fantastic. Fried tofu cubes with a toothsome skin and creamy inside, dusted with just the right seasoning of salt and pepper. I wish we'd had time to have a proper dinner there, because on the basis of the appetizers, I'm guessing the entrees would be exceptional too. If nothing else, the ambience was pleasant and the service attentive and helpful. We enjoyed it very well.

Food was bland bland bland. Everything seemed to be cooked appropriately, and the veggies were crisp, but the flavor was just really, really bland. I will not be returning.

as a long time resident of 1st hill, i was so heartbroken when the 1st hill bar and grill closed . . . luckily lotus opened up in it's place! i tried it for the first time last night and loved it. we ordered the fried chicken wings, spring rolls, and the vermicelli bowls. the chicken wings were awesome. i'm going to crave them. the spring rolls and vermicelli bowls were aaaaaaaaaaaalmost as good as greenleaf, but not quite the same. they also serve cocktails, wine, beer and are open to 2 AM. lotus is an awesome addition to first hill! it's my new little oasis for weekend and late night food. i will add it seems their servers are still getting the routine down. the restaurant is really new though, so i'm okay with a little confusion at this point. i'm going to keep on going and trying new things, and hopefully they'll have the new restaurant kinks worked out in no time.

I work around down the street and decided to try it out. I've been here twice and have no intention of going back. The first time I ordered Mongolian beef. And it was not good at all. The rice was dry and the beef was lacking flavor. I went back a week later with a co worker. I decided to try the fried rice. The portion size was large. But again there it was lacking flavor. The service was also very slow despite only 5 other people there.

This place is the best Chinese/Asian Food I have had in Seattle!! So great :) We had the egg rolls and fried chicken wings to start...very fresh and made to order. General Tso Chicken and Beef Egg Fu Young were great dishes too. I cant get over how fresh it tasted! Also the kitchen and restaurant are super clean and the waitstaff is super attentive and helpful. Perfect dining experience. The owner came over to check on everything too...impressive :)A must visit! Affordable too!

I went here tonight for the first time and really enjoyed it! I had some veggie spring rolls, which were on par with some of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle. My boyfriend and our friend both had the orange chicken and couldn't stop raving about it. Along with their egg-rolls and gyoza, they seemed more then happy. The drinks were made perfectly and our waiter, Peter, was super awesome and attentive! Totally going back!

Slowest service I have ever experienced, and now waiting on food and drinks to see it it was worth the painfully long wait. The vermicelli and pho were great. Had the rare beef pho and enjoyed the broth immensely. The grilled pork vermicelli was yummy. Drink list was extensive, but cocktails not really their forte.

I work around the corner and finally decided to try this fairly new place. I decided to stick with the Vietnamese food and not try and venture into the Chinese stuff. Our group tried a variety of dishes and I tried the Pho. We started with the fresh spring rolls and I have to say they were some of the best I've ever had. The Pho was a bit of a let down. There is another place about a block away that has much better Pho. The Noodle soup was decent also. Another person got Kung Pao chicken and it was decent enough, but nothing special. Prices seemed a little on the high end. The staff was friendly and attentive. Service was quick. Really nothing too special so I wouldn't make a destination, but definitely if you are working around this area and need a quick decent bite for lunch, I would pop in here!

I've been in a Seattle for a month now at the Harborview Medical a Center due to an "out of left field" medical emergency. Because of its proximity to the hospital, I became intimately familiar with this restaurant's service and cuisine. I also became addicted to the salt & pepper chicken wings, but, I can honestly say that all of the food I tried so far (i.e. Seafood soup and spring rolls) are exceptional. There's one young man in particular that is so exceptional as a bartender, delivery man and waiter (Steve) that I can only hope his owner appreciates his incredible work ethic and friendly customer service. In fact, he's the reason I'm giving the Lotus 5 stars! He's an exceptional bartender and waiter! Are there things I might do differently? Sure. But I run a performing arts center and not a place of edible sustenance and succor. The salt & pepper wings are F'n incredible! The spring rolls are PERFECT and the seafood and sizzling rice dish is to die for. The "happy hour" drinks are still a little pricey for happy hour but the Lotus martini is a tasty cocktail. The owner (Richly) is a very friendly and gracious gentleman whom makes a point of introducing himself and thanking you for your patronage. Honestly, one of the friendliest and most consistently delicious Vietnam/Chinese restaurants I've ever been to. When I bring my wife back for a recovery tour, this will be the first place we hit! Guaranteed! Thanks for the great food, drinks and hospitality, Lotus - I'll always be grateful!

This place occupies the old Greek cop shop on Pill Hill, right across from Vito's. They've been taken over by the folks who own Green Leaf, and are just getting their act together, which accounts for the somewhat slow (but very kind) service and the fact that there are still trompe-l'Å“il Greek fishing villages on all the walls. But the drink menu is very solid (the aviation cocktail I got there was one of the best I've ever had), and the food is, if not quite up to the level of Green Leaf, at least pretty damn close. It's a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and I hope it improves as it sticks around.

I am so disappointed with my first experience here. I came with 3 coworkers. We signaled the waiter after waiting 25-30 min. He was unapologetic and said they were busy. After 35 minutes, we still had no food and had to return for a meeting. They boxed up what they were going to serve us. Again, not a lot of apologies. They asked if I wanted a discount and I said yes. They have us a whopping 10% off and told us they're a new restaurant and busy. I probably wouldn't have written a bad review had they sincerely apologized and given a better discount. It was horrible service overall!

Major gem. Open until 2am, with a killer happy hour 10pm until close. $4 wells!! We ordered the tofu seaweed soup, chicken skewers, and vegetarian salad rolls. All were delicious, beautiful, and served quickly. Perfect!!!

We tried Lotus Kitchen for take-out - I called and asked if they could make tofu fried rice (it's not on their menu) and the friendly guy said "Yes, I can do that"! Yay! When I got the order, the rice was full of veggies - very fresh and unusually light for a fried rice dish. I didn't see any tofu, but it was so good with the veggies I didn't care! My husband tried Hawaiian Fried Rice and was happy with his as well. The Fried Wontons were a hit with both of us - crispy and perfect. We will definitely be back!

Overall forgettable meal. A friend and I had the Chicken and Broccoli dish and the General Tso's chicken. First, I was thrown by the music (think Brady Bunch singing karaoke). When our food arrived, I surmised the chicken wasn't quite real. I'm sure it started as chicken, but it was rubbery and seemed like it'd been processed and glued back together. The food was edible, but there are other First Hill restaurants I'll visit before trying Lotus again. If you want good Chinese food, make the trip to the international District, 'cuz you won't find it here.

this place was near where i live so i decided to give it a try. I ordered a lunch special of ja jang noondle. im mean i had it in korean style so i asked the worker if its like the korean chinese noodle and he said its similar. so i asked him if its a black paste and he said yes but when i got my food it was basically a mapo tofu sauce. although the owner said its not as same as the one i was thinking. i wish they wouldv told me that it was nothing like it. i might try one more time and see how it turns out. however good side is that they were very friendly. while iw as waiting server gave me a glass a water.

Had high hopes for a new spot opening so close, but really underwhelmed. Non vegetarian friendly, and the food is only okay. Service wasn't bad but was very very slow. Disappointing. There's much better in the neighborhood.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
