My favorite bar for a great beer, hands down. such good food; love the patio out back, and super cool people who work there. If you want the perfect little spot around the corner, this is it.

The first time I came here, I thought it was overpriced. But I realize now that was because I came from a less expensive state. The service is awesome even with one person running the whole bar and restaurant. Food has never disappointed, and is seasonal. We walked over here the second time because service at The Westy was so terrible. Love this bar, love the food, love the ever changing beers.

Food ok, but giant mouthful of fat in my sandwich made me gag. Measured sound level averaged 78 dB, never less than 65. No coversation possible.

Can't love this place enough-from the local art on the walls to the seasonal menus, this place oozes a chill friendly neighborhood vibe. They have a killer happy hour, super friendly staff, and a qualified beer rotation. Cozy any time of the year-recommend the back patio for romantic date nights

The ambiance of this place is friendly, chill and have selection between outdoor or indoor.. The waiter we had was nice and making sure we are okay. The food come in a proper order as well. I gave 4 star coz the food selection is very limited as well some of the food we order was bland.. I enjoy the alcohol selection and they have a lot local product..

Amazing food! The pork sandwich is orgasmic and the tacos are great too. The waitress was pretty unfriendly but it was still a great experience.

This is the second time we got horrible service. Waited by the front door to be seated for several minutes. Fine, they're busy. Server told us it would be just a minute as tables were clearing up. Bartender told us to wait in the back because it would be a while. As we waited, in the back, another party arrived and just sat down. The server jumped up and cleaned their table. We were completely ignored. Again. Lat time I give this place a chance. The food is not even that great either.

I live close and come often. I support local places and really appreciate the experience here. The food is good and when it hasn't been I've told them and wasn't charged. That said for those that complain about seating. No hostess station = every man for himself. Great spot, small but well worth the wait.

Locol is tiny and it does get crowded, but it's a great little place and I'm so glad that it's within easy walking distance of where I live. I agree with other reviewers that arriving there early is the key to getting seated--otherwise there's not much place to wait, especially if the bar is full. Also, if you go with a friend and plan to do a lot of catching up, be aware that Locol sometimes has live music and that can make conversation difficult. The menu is simple and changes seasonally, but everything I've ordered has always been good. You might not even notice the small courtyard in back, but if the weather is nice, be sure to check it out. I wish West Seattle had more places like this sweet little hole in the wall!

I read some of the reviews from those who have given this place a less than, "stellar," review - due to poor service mostly. I feel very sorry for those folks as I do not believe their experience is at all typical. People, do yourself a favor - this is a very small place. GO EARLY. This place is frequented by a LOT of area residents who walk over, grab a bite and brew, then head on back home. Yes, it gets very BUSY at times. This is a densely packed residential neighborhood, and as I said, they have a LOT of regulars. That said, I have NEVER had bad service here (and yes, I am one of their neighbors). Not all of their dishes are of equal quality, but these guys put their heart and soul into this place. No, they can't satisfy everyone, but some of their sandwiches are killer! The Cubano, the tuna sandwich, the mushroom bahn mi (when in season). These are fantastic, served with some mixed greens. Awesome! Grab a cider or a brew and you have a great meal. (try the soups too - very good... they make their own stocks, and they contain much depth of flavor) (In my star system, 5 is reserved for much higher-end establishments.)

I tried it again and this time didn't even get seated. We waited by the door for quite a while without even being acknowledged. I could tell that several tables were frustrated with the service including two who were trying to close up. I was almost ready to just give up right then and there but the server swing by and said it would just be a minute as she had a couple of tables leaving. The two tables did leave but no effort was made to bus either of them or seat us. Eventually, the bartender rudely told us to wait in back because it was going to be a while. I again considered just leaving but we had invested quite a bit of time and had a game to keep us busy if we could just get one of those empty tables! Another couple walked in and was obviously deciding which unbussed table to seat themselves at so my husband walked over and kindly let them know were already waiting. They seated themselves anyway and the server IMMEDIATELY walked over and bussed and cleaned their table!!! Totally outrageous. That was it. We were out for good. There are plenty of highly competent people out of work willing to work for minimum wage plus tips and be grateful for it so I'm not sure why they continue to settle for rude and incompetent staff.

This place is great for a late night drink! (I haven't tried coming at any other time so I will update when I do)... The wine selection is amazing, AND they even have sweet Rieslings (heck yes!). According to my special man friend, the beer selection is also fantastic. This is the place to go if you want to keep your alcohol consumption local to the PNW.

I have been coming to Locol for about a year off/on. I don't drink too much beer and barely wine. I like Manhattans. BUT the beer here is awesome!!! I love dark beer or high alcohol percent. The happy hour is amazing!! On some weeks of the night there is live music. It is not too loud. Chill. Can be romantic. Small but I can not wait to hang out in on the patio this summer!!! All the bartenders are great but Scott is amazing like the bar. He remembers people. Their drinks. He shares cool info about the bar and he's knows beer. I enjoy chill Friday's here and everyday happy hour two times a day tacos!!

Super cozy spot tucked away in West Seattle. Would be a great place for a first date. 12 beers on tap (2 were ciders when I went), plus many more in bottles/cans, huge selection of wine as well. Place is cozy with a bar along one wall and a single row of 4 top tables on the opposite wall. Really great menu selection from small plates to entrees. I had a delicious beer and cheese soup and a loaf of warm crusty bread with vinegar and oil. Food menu varies with the season and with what they can get fresh, and tap selection also changes over quite often. They have live music some evenings as well. Only critique I have is that they were not as knowledgeable as I expect for a beer bar on exactly what beers they had and info on them. But definitely a place I will return.

A great place is a balance between location, atmosphere, menu and taste along with a few other things like price, parking and seating space (whether I'll get a table). Locol is such a cozy place that always has parking and their fireplace warms this small interior THEN throw in a VERY friendly staff that learns your name and you have the makings of a place you want to go back to again and again! The menu is focused but well done. Their selection of drinks, in particular, rotating ciders, is thoughtful too. This is a great place on a dreary cold rainy Seattle evening!

This was our second time back here and we have enjoyed every time. Good beer selection, food was excellent and the love jazz was top notch. Very happy with out experiences here. Although the food menu is shorter, it is nothing but greatness. The bbg chicken burger is delicious. The rotating taps (mostly local from Washington) just make it that much better. Definitely recommend!

We walked in a couple weeks ago not expecting anything and discovered this neighborhood gem. We were blown away by the food, live music and service. I had the smoked salmon chowder and Brussels sprout salad and my boyfriend had the bread and meatballs. All four were unbelievable-and way larger portions than we expected. The local musicians that played were talented and tasteful. We came back the next week and weren't disappointed- tried the field roast sandwich (yum). The only negative is the wine is a bit pricey when it's not happy hour.

This place has SO much promise, but right now it's three stars. What we loved about Locol was the awesome beer and wine selection, the great atmosphere, and the outstanding cheese plate. We will comeback for cheese and a drink. Unfortunately, I had a sub-par cocktail (I'll stick with straight beer or wine here in the future), the service was poor which offset the otherwise cool atmosphere, and the rest of our food wasn't good. We were sitting at the bar but we felt forgotten after we ordered entrees. And when we did have someone's attention they seemed so disinterested in serving us that we didn't feel like giving them feedback on how bland the food was. I don't think they seasoned it while cooking at all. The menu looks awesome and if they can improve on the execution of the dishes, this would be a solid place for dinner. I overheard someone saying that they have a seasonal menu that changes every three months and this menu is new, so maybe at the end of winter these dishes will be better. And hopefully they will plan better for spring so that the menu is good as it comes out. I won't give up on Locol but for now it's got some work to do to be a regular place for me.

  • Jessica B.

Every time we come here we're glad we did. It's the perfect neighborhood spot, and yet when we move about ten minutes south we'll still make a point to come here. Love the effort for gluten free foods, despite the smallest kitchen on the planet. Delicious wines, amazing service - and great people too, not just people who are great at their job - and a place I don't ever see myself getting tired of. No matter where you live in West Seattle or Burien, this ought to be a regular neighborhood choice.

We had intended to check out Locol for a few weeks, considering that it might become "our new dive." But when we finally got around to trying it the surprise was immediate -- this is no dive. This place is a gorgeous, garnet-like jewel of a bar and restaurant. It is warm and gorgeous and friendly. We were impressed by the excellent selection of local beers. The live jazz, even on a "slow" night was just great; a real joy. I cannot imagine a better place for a date, a dinner for a couple friends, or even a night out alone, at the fantastic bar. Locol isn't for groups. It's designed for singles and pairs, but that's not a fault; it's an excellent place to choose if you're in the mood to get away from large groups, as I often am. I truly believe that Locol is one of the world's perfect bars.

Ah, Locol. I don't live in the neighborhood anymore (moved to Capitol Hill a couple of years ago), but used to live just a few blocks north and was glad to have this cozy little place a short walk away. It's just a very nice, intimate and friendly neighborhood hangout. I miss it and am due for a return visit soon. Oh, and very easy parking doesn't hurt.

Locol is your friendly neighborhood restaurant for all seasons. Cozy inside when it's dreary outside. Sunny outside? Then you're on their patio out back. Always an amazing beer and cider selection. The food is delicious with seasonal changes. Local art colors the walls. Always a good choice for a meal or drink.

Locol is a nice little neighborhood joint, a good place to take everyone from a new date to your visiting-from-the-'burbs Mom (Look Ma! Loads of free parking! It's like we're not even IN Seattle! Well, we kinda aren't, by Belltown or Capitol Hill standards.) The ambience/lighting is perfect, very warm and low-lit. It's got that Northwest-modern thing going on. Bartenders have been friendly (but unobtrusive) on each visit. Portions are tasty, but shall we say, conservative, and pricing is a bit higher than what I'd expect from a neighborhood joint on the south end of town. They get big ups from me for having Abita beer, which I've not had since I visited New Orleans a couple years ago (it's TurboDog, though, which seems to be Abita's standard export fare-- not Abita Amber or the coveted-even-in-NOLA Abita Strawberry). One thing I don't get-- the devoted following for the kale chips. They're basically wafer-thin slices of mildly salted kale, but even the salt isn't enough to overcome the essential bitterness of the flavor. I don't mind kale in a soup or whatnot, but I expect more from anything labeled "chip".

I wish the 3 star rating had a red coloring for 3.5 stars and a yellow coloring for 3 stars. I almost feel bad giving a business that I think deserves a good shout-out only 3 stars based on the color (2 and 1 are also yellow). THIS business deserves a RED 3 STAR review. Dear Locol, Thank you for offering me tasters so I could choose between the two Proletariats on tap when I sat down and pulled out my kindle, reading in wait of a girlfriend. I really appreciated the fact that you didn't encroach on my 'me time' (BTW, I hate that slogan, but felt the need to use it to refer to some well-deserved after work space for just myself) while I spent upwards of a half hour at the bar alone enveloped in a good book. When my friend came in, you promptly offered her a glass of what I was drinking, poured more water and left us be to chat for an hour. Service could have been a bit quicker as we decided on some food about 10 minutes later, which took about 35 minutes to order. Granted, you had become busy and there was a band of two in the corner setting up the entertainment for the evening. I asked for a recommendation and the kale 'sliders' were offered to me. Done. However, I should have read the menu, because had I known that it was a bunch of pickled veggies on the equivalent of a piece of phyllo dough, I wouldn't have opted for that choice. You graciously offered to take back the meal and replace with another, and I chose the Mediterranean CousCous salad, which was incredibly yummy. And you didn't balk when I asked for a 1/2 glass of wine instead of a full one. So, thank you for your patience with this overly complicated bar patron, your restaurant is super-cozy and has such a great atmosphere that if I am ever back in the neighborhood, I will totally stop by. xxo, Liana

Went during happy hour...the beer was great and a fairly good deal. The happy hour wine deal was a bit confusing so we paid more than planned for wine. Had pork tacos and baked beans...which were ok but insanely spicy for me. I'd like to come back but maybe after they rotate their menu. Service was kinda slow and seemed like they could use more help when I gets busy.

Really cute spot for an intimate date. They have tons of local beers and the menu is seasonal which keeps things fresh and exciting. I can tell that the management is very passionate about what they do because everything is local and high quality. There is also a cute outdoor patio in the back perfect for all year round. If you are looking to go to a bar that isn't some hipster, Capitol Hill, pee encrusted place, I would definitely try Locol Barley and Vine. It is a bit more sophisticated and really is a nice gem in West Seattle.

Ambiance is perfect. This is an ideal spot for a casual bar date. It's so warm and rich, with a beautiful wood slab bar and interesting fixtures. Great selection of wine and beer. Food is pretty good but the portions are very small. Staff is always nice and will go out of their way to help you select from their menu. Live music is really something in this space. We went in at Christmas and there was a duo that really filled this charming space.

yes, Yes, YES! As the Cask opened in the Admiral district in 2010, I thought it would be great if this low key, dark, great beer and wine joint had some kick ass foodie type eats. Locol magically appears the next year, down on 35th street! I didn't even pray on it, it just appeared! Ambiance: 5 stars. Just enough room to sit a nice happy hour or dinner crowd. Just enough room at the bar (great long bar!). Just enough light. Just the right distance away from the tiny kitchen where all the magic happens. Just right Beer: 5 stars. Way to go on keeping it local, and appealing to everyone! Theres always an amber, a brown, a dark, a light, a belgian, its awesome! Food: 5 stars. Rotating seasonal menu, YES! Small eats for a happy hour appetite, YES! 1/2 a sammy and some soup for ten bucks, YES! Options for ordering a full meal by getting multiple items, YES! All fresh and local and amazingly delish, YES! In the fall: PUMPKIN CREME BRULE?????? YES!!!!! Resounding YES! Not to mention they keep some seasonal Leinies in the bottles just to make us midwestern folk feel even more at home.

It was a rainy cold evening and the lady and I wanted to find a warm spot to have a glass of wine. This place is cozy and inviting, has a very nice bar, and the service was very friendly. While the fireplace was nice, I was instantly a little disappointed that you cannot really sit anywhere and stare at the fire, unless maybe you sit backwards on the bar stools right in front of it. Got some Rose on tap, that's nice! I ordered the pulled pork tacos and they were good for the most part, but the meat was kind of inconsistent through, like maybe parts got hard from sitting for awhile. Overall, the experience was good and it was a nice change-up for an evening. While I'm not planning my next trip here right away, under the right circumstances I would happily give it another try.

Simple, smart seasonal plates in a small historical West Seattle spot. A sweet little back patio that is cool and quiet on a Sunday night. Kale chips, pork tacos and horseradish pulled pork are signature staples. Their summer tuna salad sandwich is fresh and light. Swing by now for fall menu items...Curried Butternut Squash, Spicy Chicken Corn Chowder, Oyster Poboy, Chipotle Sweet Potato Shepards Pie and Carmel Apple Remix for dessert. Their side dishes and sauces are always a memorable addition to any plate...fresh apple cider dressing on a salad, lime-cilantro slaw, wasabi aioli, apple slaw and rhubarb-pear-apple sauce. Fresh flavors throughout the menu with many recommendations from bartenders and owners. Long local wine list and an array of brews which includes a rotating selection of Leinie's from home sweet home Wisconsin. Locol is a sweet spot. Go during the quiet hours to bite, sip and unwind.

This place is A-OK. The service was fine but the food was a little pricey for the portion and taste. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and knew it was served with mustard on it. The mustard was caked on so that's all you could really taste with every bite. The cheese plate was good but a little on the small side. It's a cool place with a decent beer selection and live music. I think the food could be better for the price. I will come back for drinks but not too sure about another sit down dinner. It's a small place so arrive early!

I sooooo wanted to like this place, since it's the first real hangout to open within walking distance from my home. But what a disappointment. The draft beer selection was limited, nary an amber or anything like it available. I was really there to try the Löwman Brau, which I did enjoy. The kale chips and the snap pea salad were alright, the salad was a little underseasoned but fresh tasting. The cheese plate was was horrible. A $10 plate of three tiny morsels of cheese two pots of jam and a stack of rosemary crackers. There was so little cheese that I was literally embarrassed for them. When my dining companion tried to give some feedback that the cheese plate was a little skimpy, the server unleashed a defense of where they purchase their cheese, that it's expensive imported cheese and to give more they'd have to charge more. If their profit margin is THAT bad, they shouldn't offer a cheese plate in the first place. Finally, when we split the bill, the server charged each of us the full tab amount, rather than splitting it. I might be coerced to go back for a beer, but I would plan to eat before going there.

I came here with my husband over the weekend and we had some really good food and really good beer. I'd been hearing about Locol for the past year and it was exciting when they finally opened. First, I think they're in a great location. Some may not agree with me, but Locol basically sits on the edge of a residential area with no restaurants/bars within close walking distance. West Seattleites get very excited when new places pop up within walking distance to their homes! Apparently the space used to be a tanning salon but they've really turned it around. There is a lot of dark wood so it makes everything feel cozy. It's a pretty small space with a long bar and about 8-10 two person tables. We came during happy hour so our pints were $1 off and there were 2 wines (one red, one white) that were $5. I really liked their draft beer selection. My husband had Two Beers IPA and I had a Big Al's Brougham Bitter and a Odin Ruby Amber. The menu is small but there are some good choices. We split butternut squash soup, fennel salad and a Gruyere and arugula sandwich. Everything was really fresh and delicious. I think the sandwich was my favorite. It also had pesto and apples on it and was a great combination. This is a great spot and everyone seems to be excited they moved into the 'hood. I'm sure this will be the first of many visits for me!

Fantastic food, good drink, wonderful staff and a great cozy atmosphere make this West Seattle spot truly worth a visit, or many and having bought the old florist shop next door to create a growler fill and additional seating, this pub truly Rocks! A wonderful place to hang and have carnitas tacos, or a brilliant curried fish. Prices are reasonable as well and it has already become this reviewers favorite local. Highly recommended and easy to find on 35th and Kenyon SW, directly across from Swedish Automotive!!

I have a hard time posting this review because it is so close to my home, and the food can be really good at times. Every time I come here the experience is truly hit or miss. Ok, so they have Kale chips as a regular item on the menu and I truly love that. But for some reason I feel out of place in this bar. The place is not that big, and it tends to fill up pretty fast which can be a problem at times. I actually came in once, was told to sit at a table and then booted from the same table a few minutes later. I was told someone else was waiting for that table (ok, I get it) but there was nothing else available in the restaurant. I had to leave, and that kind of experience can be extremely annoying. I had dinner here tonight and the food was good, the staff was nice, but I felt like I really did not belong in there....which is weird but there you have it.

A friend of mine and I tried Locöl on Friday 02/11/11 for a late lunch (or was it an early dinner?). We of course had to have a happy hour glass of wine (or two) as well. What a LOVELY little neighborhood joint! Beautifully appointed inside, you will want to sit down and stay for hours. If I hadn't needed to go home to my kid & her daddy, I think I would have done exactly that. The food was fresh, beautifully plated, delicious and very reasonably priced IMO ($5 - $7 an item). We each had a Bib Salad (butter lettuce w/ pine nuts, artichoke hearts and Green Goddess dressing). She had some soup, and then we shared a fantastic warm bread pudding. Yummy! The happy hour wine was very drinkable (she had the Chardonay and I had the Cabernet - $5 a glass each). Happy hour applies to wine and beer only, not food. It runs from 12 noon - 6pm, and again from 10pm - 2am. I love places that have a dual happy hour! Tells me they like their customers. :-) Speaking of which, the staff was super helpful and friendly. Another fun plus... they were running a slide show on the wall of images taken back in the "Old Days" of West Seattle. It was so fun seeing all those old pictures of the Alaska Junction, Alki Beach, the Fauntleroy ferry dock, etc. A very nice touch. We were told that the West Seattle Herald were the generous and supportive peeps that provided them to Locöl, (thanks WSH, you guys rock, as always!!). Will definitely be back again soon.

Awesome seasonal rotating menu, friendly cool staff and owners, great wine and beer, and it's in walking distance from home. There are times I wish I could have a cocktail there, but it's probably the best for my liver.

Went there for the first time tonight. We've been wanting to try it for quite awhile but usually get started late, and weren't always sure it would be open. The starting service was a bit slow (took them awhile to notice us), but after that the service was great. I like them to come around, but not hover. That's what we got. They have quite a selection of beer and wines. We were in the mood for a cider, which we didn't see on the menu (although we could have overlooked it). Turned out they had a cherry cider on tap (made in Walla Walla), and a couple other bottled ones. We went with the cherry cider. It was great. Tart and tasty. I had the smoked chicken sandwich. Not a huge meal, but filling. While it was billed as having a BBQ sauce (which is usually over powering) this was a BBQ more like a southern style - there, but not "saucy". Paired with the cherry cider, it was perfect. My boyfriend had the smoked salmon chowder and the pork tacos. The veggies in the chowder were fresh and crispy (very good), but a little light in actual salmon. The pork tacos were not the normal Mexican restaurant taco, they were fresh tasting and lighter than your average, and not too spicy. We then tried the cheesecake bread pudding, which was very good. Apparently they make most of their food in-house. The menu is short, but as a famous chef once pointed out, better to do a few things well than to do a lot of things not so well. This was a very nice experience. We loved the slide show and the music. When we got there it was classic rock and roll, but later it changed to Blues/Jazz/ballads. We really enjoyed it.

This place is amazing! Our friends just moved right down the street, and we met for dinner and drinks last night. Our server had great beer suggestions, was enthusiastic and engaging. The food was delicious--especially the artichoke cream cheese dip--double yum! There was a gentleman there from the West Seattle Herald taking pictures of this awesome bar, and our server asked us to move out to their (awesome!!) deck out back and sat us with a couple of people we hadn't met before. He asked us "just to talk and look like we were friends" for a few pictures. Three hours later, we left after making new friends and sharing drinks, more food, and talking with the awesome owner. He is truly passionate about having an amazing space with great wine and beers, and he should be so proud of his awesome space. We will for sure be back again very soon!

A much needed local hang out. Great selection of beer and wine and really good small plates. I love the pork tacos - which are almost always on the menu. The menu does change frequently to keep things seasonal (and interesting) but they keep a few favorites on the menu permanently. Great atmosphere. Friendly, low key service.

Good to have this option in this neck of the West Seattle woods. I hope the upmarket concept in the neighborhood has longevity. Nice cozy atmosphere. To me the offerings seem spendy and I can get more value for my dollar at some other establishments.

They have my new favorite non-summer beer here: Monk's Blood, full of berry flavor without being too sweet. Great atmosphere, long happy hour, nice rotating menu, a little on the pricey side for some of the offerings.

Well, I really really wanted to love this place, in a 5-star sort of way...but it just didn't quite live up to my expectations :( Ill start with the bad since Im being negative already. Their happy hour kind of stinks! Its from noon to 6 which I thought was awesome, until I saw what it was...basically house wine for $5 (which it really should be anyways) and $1 off draft beer, but only pints. No food discounts Locol, really?! Just $1 off makes people happy and gets them coming back! Plus the portions were really small for the price, happy hour portions at least deserve happy hour prices...sigh... Ok, now for the good! The decor is awesome in a really "cozy-cabiny-chic" sort of way. I love that everything is local, love love that!! The food was really good. We had the chickpea/pumpkin seed roast thing, beer cheese soup, and a mushroom panini...all awesome!!! I am in love with the fact that they have no tvs, music at a decent level, and comfortable but not gothicly dark lighting. The service wasn't anything to be super excited about, but good enough. Overall though, if they had a better happy hour, I would become a very frequent visitor!! As it is now, I will definitely go back, but not when I am looking for a good happy hour or for dinner portions.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and it was very busy. Grabbed a seat at the bar. Loved the beverage selections and food was great. A little short staffed put I get it.

Loved this place! Great place for the neighborhood! Decor was great and good choices for drinks and food! We had beer on tap and fingerling potatoes and kale chips! Fun little apps and great service also!

This is our favorite place to grab dinner and drinks. Not just in w. Seattle either. It's hard to explain the magic that is locol. Yes, they have tasty, healthy and affordable food, a great wine and beer selection and warm and engaging servers and owners. That is certainly part of it. But I think what truly sets it apart is the cozy, amazing ambiance. You feel like you could stay here for hours over a glass of wine and be perfectly happy. Which you would be. This place is really special. Go and see.

This place is a real treat. It's a bit off on its own on 35th Ave in West Seattle, but it's definitely worth a stop. I tried the kale chips, which were surprisingly spiced with lemon, garlic, salt and perhaps anise (?). Delicious. The pork tacos were tasty, and the selection of beer and wine was diverse and the local beer I ordered hit the spot. The ambience is comfortable, casual and laid back, but the place has a modern an trendy-enough feel that dressing up to go out won't feel out of place.

My husband and I popped in one night just to grab a few drinks after dinner. We were met by a rude blonde bartender that has no business being in the service industry. After bringing us our first drink I asked for a taster of a specific beer. She brought that then proceeded to stand behind a wall behind the bar area eating her dinner for 20 minutes. Once she finally came out I assumed she might bring me my drink - wrong! My husband finally went to the bar to ask her for my beer. When the check arrived she had put me down for 3 drinks, when we said that no I had only had 2, she proceeded to argue with us until I called her out for standing in the back and eating for 20 minutes and having to send my husband to the bar to get my drink. Horrible, horrible service. If you want to deal with a nasty, rude bartender make sure to pop in, otherwise, steer clear!

This is a great little food/wine/brew spot. Both husband and I had the field roast vegetarian sandwich - delicious. We have already decided that the next time we go we need to try the kale chips and a couple of other appetizers. The wine and beer list is impressively long but not overwhelming. We had friendly and attentive service from both of the gentleman behind the bar this evening. It is my understanding that the menu changes frequently, as a vegetarian I appreciate that their current menu is available on their website. Only 4 stars for two reasons. This was my first time at Locol so I can only speak for this one experience. The Yelp page lists music as "background". On our visit tonight they had live music (looking at their website now I see that they have it listed every Sunday and Monday they have live music). The band this evening was quite lovely. However, after we entered around 7:30 they began to set up - in and out, in and out, door open over and over with the cold wind coming into a very small joint. The seats at the bar that we had were placed literally right in front of the band "area" (my husbands back was to them). A three piece band in a tiny restaurant (including drums!), and then the gentleman working behind the bar asked them to play a little louder because the restaurant was so full. Not the best experience for the quarter of your clientele sitting at that end of the bar. 2 sandwiches w/green salad and 3 beers = $33 (happy score!) 2014 update: We still really like The Locol but they really need to get their music thing figured out. One night we went to see our friend perform and it turns out that they had double booked and left it to the performers to figure out who was going to play. We had musician friends in town a few weeks ago that are really into live folk music, I called The Locol to see who they had paying that night (as it didn't show on their website) and the gentleman who answered said, oh, come in - someone will be playing some sort of music but I don't know who or what. I heard him ask a woman in the background and she didn't have a clue either. Needless to say, we went elsewhere.

Locol is a very cool little bar and the best part is (the walk home) is extremely easy! Unfortunately for me, it can be a rough walk there because it's all uphill but hey, at least the important part is I can stumble home without driving! I went on a night that was extremely packed, which everyone was saying is a little uncharacteristic. Pluses: Wine on tap! Nice!!! Great beer selection as well. I tried the meatballs which were awesome, and also tried the jambalaya which was good as well (although I didn't find it spicy enough). My friend had the pulled pork sandwich which I thought was pretty tasty as well. I definitely would love to go back and try more of the food. The one really big minus is that the space is way too small for the live band. I think it's a great addition to have live music, but I feel like it needs to either be acoustic or not at all because damn that gets loud! I will definitely be back here for happy hour at some point. Thanks guys!

Great wine & beer bar. Good selection of both beers and wine. Food menu was decent. Waitstaff was awesome. Would definitely recommend; especially for a mix of wine drinkers and beer drinkers.

This is a really unique place. The owners and staff are very friendly, easy to talk with, and very supportive of the community. They also support local music. It is impressive what they can put together in their small kitchen. The food is always top notch and they change the menu quarterly. The wine and beer options are really diverse for such a small venue.

We went in there on Saturday night and found a gem of a place! Great wine selection, small yummy bites such as a beet and goat cheese salad and an artichoke dip for starters... There was also a roaring fireplace with the friendliest bartender! I am definitely going back! :)

This place is small with great ambience. The people were very nice. We had to wait a little while for a table and they got us drinks and made us comfortable at a stand up drink bar in the back. The Swedish Meatball were to die for. I may crave them now! The meatball grinder.....yum!! I think the prices are perfect. You mostly get small plates though you can get full size sandwiches and there is an entree. The wine and beer list is great.

Love this place! I love that everything is local, but most of all I love the service here. When I wen here last Thursday the owner literally came up and introduced himself to me and my friends, and the other waitstaff was equally as friendly and warm. They made it feel like home even though it was the first time I had been there. The beer and wine options were great, and the food menu was different, but accessible. This place is the perfect neighborhood bar...I so wish it was in my neighborhood!

I love Locol. I went the first time with my sister who lives in the neighborhood, and I've been back countless times even though I live across town. It's my favorite neighborhood place in town, even though I don't even live in the neighborhood. Their wine selection is stellar; I enjoy their wine service (wine is served in a small carafe, which gets partly poured by the server into your glass and then you get to decide when to finish the pour). If there's a wine you're not generally crazy about (which, for me means Rose and Chardonnay) you might find a surprise or two on their menu (their current Rose is my wine of the summer... it's delicious). The appetizers are a little hit and miss -- my dining companions have been not stoked on the cheese plate (can't speak to it myself) because of the wacky preserves (a little too exotic for some cheese plate tasters palettes) and everyone loves their Kale chips, and while I love Kale chips, I'm not actually a fan of theirs, but the olive plate and Macrina bread makes a great little snack. The dinners are what really shine. I've ordered salads, specials, soups ... and every single meal has exceeded expectations. Fresh food, perfectly sized portions, delicious. And I almost said, "for the price" but that belittles the quality of the food, which continues to surprise me each time I go back. If you're served by one of the owners you're in for a treat. Occasionally the other servers aren't as engaging, but that seems to be improving too. Aside from all those points, I just enjoy being there. There's a welcoming neighborhood feel that's really accessible, the music and art are festive and fun but not overwhelming, and the place is great for a happy hour with friends or a nice dinner out with my man. All in all, I really love this place. I wish I had one *actually* in my neighborhood.

This is a nice local wine bar with micro brews on tap and a small menu of food. It appears to be a popular place as we had to wait at the bar for a bit before getting a table. I tried one of the wines on tap, but it wasn't really that great. The wait staff was very accommodating and gladly replaced it with another selection. It cleared out later in the evening, so it may be easier to get a group in after the dinner hour.

After visiting Locol about about 5 times - I feel like I can really write a review. I'm going to break it down a bit. Atmosphere - Fantastic. My favorite kind, in fact. It's very small, warm, and chill. Generally good music is playing & one time there was a live band. Service - At times the servers are not as attentive as I would like - But they are all very friendly. Friendliness goes a long way in my book. Food - Not typical bar food... which is a good thing. My first visit was the best one for food. I had this veggie wrap I can only describe as orgasmic. SO good. But that visit was at the end of the month... when I returned to have that wrap again - the menu had changed! In fact, aside friom the appetizers- the entrees and desserts change every month. Which is why this place cannot be a dinner staple for me. I want to know I have something I will love. HOWEVER, after all of that - I will say that in all my visits, there has always been at least one vegetarian entree option... and it's a small menu, so that's really saying a lot. Very appreciated. Drink - GREAT wine & beer selection. If you don't want to worry about food -Come here after dinner for a nightcap or 2. You can still enjoy the atmosphere and friendly service.

I really want to give this place 5-stars, because the owners and workers are all such great people. I decided to give 4 stars because while their monthly-rotating menu is nice, I sometimes find the food options to be pretty limiting. Still, you will find this place packed most nights of the week after 7pm, a true sign that just such a place was needed in this part of West Seattle. Truly a local hang-out, and a great one at that.

I'm rating for the beer, not the food. Frankly, with how small the location is, I'm surprised anyone is expecting more from Locöl food wise. They attempt the foodie desire that is ever so apparent in West Seattle, and they do a fairly good job at it I would say(and my GF would probably agree). I'm not into that kind of fancy food personally, so most of the menu items don't apply to me. But with the size and location, it's great for me to be able to walk around the corner and grab a beer from their selection of local breweries. good stuff.

I'm so excited that Locol is open. The food is awesome. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options - and not just salads and french fries like some places in WS. We had the chicknuts (popped/roasted chickpeas with pumpkin seeds), the kale chips (ah-mazing) and the curried coconut soup (spicy!). I have to disagree with some of the complaints about the expense - the food all seemed really reasonable to me. Starters at $4, salads and small plates at $5, entrees at $8, beer $4-6. The place is small, but incredibly cozy. The decor is great - and there's a fireplace to warm you up after a day of rain and hail :)

A great little place with really nice staff, a great atmosphere and a great draft selection and original menu. We didn't actually eat here, however; because of food allergies, which was not their fault. I'll try back again in October when they switch to their fall menu!

This is a nice addition to the neighborhood. We had been glancing at Locöl since it opened and were waiting for a time where it was not crowded. For being a beer and wine bar, their wine selection is pretty good but their beer selection is not great, yet. I hope that over time they introduce more beer on tap, so far they only have Seattle micros (Big Al, Two Beers, Schooner Exact, Odin, Maritime and Georgetown). In its favor, the beer selection truly is local and these are quality beers in a range of styles. On the other hand, I'd love to eventually see some ales from elsewhere in Washington and maybe Oregon. They have some bottles and cans but nothing in the selection stood out. We didn't see anything in the way of sours, or uncommon seasonals. I like to try new things, so more variety or a lot of rotation would definitely keep me coming back. The food menu is small but looks good and affordable. They have 3 appetizers (nuts, chard chips, and some other thing). A few salads, a couple of soups (butternut squash and white bean) and sandwiches. I think the most expensive thing on the food menu was around $10. I will go there for lunch sometime. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff were chatty and very excited to be in business. The place was quiet enough for conversation, but a couple of noisy tables stood out in the small space. It is shaped like a long, narrow box, making nearby conversations very audible. Overall, though, a nice atmosphere. The place is very pretty and tiny so it's probably always going to be crowded (hopefully!). I'd say it accommodates about 12 people at the bar and maybe 30-35 people in tables. Again, a great addition to the neighborhood.

I really want to like this place - the atmosphere is good, the beer selection (while small) is good, the wine selection looks good.... the food though... well, disappointing. The worst part of my experience (and the reason I didn't give it 3 stars) was that when we ordered bread and olive oil ($4) we got three slices of sandwich bread. $4 for three slices (cut down the middle) of sandwich bread! When I asked if that was normal, the chef shrugged and said they were out of their normal bread. I want to be forgiving, but come on (I may go back and possible change this review in the future). A hint to locol: If you are going to make substitutions because you ran out of something - you have to tell your customers before you deliver it to them (and expect them to pay for it). Sandwich bread is not meant for dipping in olive oil.

Once again i had an amazing time at locol, this place has such good food! I love how they change the menu seasonally! I had the Green Curry last time i was there, they hit the seasoning just right and i have never had Cod cook to such perfection! The service was warm and welcoming, and everyone that works there seems to always be in such a good mood it really has good energy as soon as you walk through the door! I can't wait to bring my friends in for our weekly ladies night out!! Wine Time!!

It's great to have a nice restaurant so close to the neighborhood. The food menu is relatively small (beer/wine menu is much bigger), but it does rotate fairly often so you're not forced to choose from the same items again and again. The food here is great, the ambiance is cozy just like a little neighborhood joint should be. The reason for only 3 stars? The service. I've visited Locol 4 times now and have learned to not expect to be greeted at the door or even within the first ten minutes after seating ourselves. When service does happen you get the feeling the person is just a little bothered to be having to wait on you, Examples, our drinks have run long dry before being asked for refills (this includes water), and not being told an item contains meat after informing the waitress that we're vegetarians. Little details that most good waitstaff get. Overall, Locol is a nice place to sit and visit with friends while you dine leisurely on good food, just don't expect to receive top notch service.

It's casual and classy with warm, welcoming light. Local, West Seattle art adornes the walls of the cozy space. I prefer to sit at the bar to constantly peruse the beer and wine selection to ensue my certainty when asked, "you want another?". Of course, I do. I'll have a.... I enjoy being in an establishment where the help is knowledgable and friendly and, well...locals. We tried a variety of menu items, starting with kale chips. We ordered 2 sandwiches, a pulled pork horseradish sandwich and an apple, bacon, gruyere sandwich. Damn, damn, damn those are good! We also had a cask IPA, which I cannot remember the name of with our meal. Finished off the meal with a glass of wine recommmended by the bartender and it was delicious. I will go back here again and again. This an indulgence worth planning for. These people care about providing a nice, neighborhood hang out without any pretention. It's nice to be in an establishment that is bringing back the sense of community we need these days. Keep it Locol, WSEA people!

We came here on a Saturday night at 10pm and sadly they were out of most of the dishes we wanted to try - that's okay because the alcohol was flowing and that's what really matters at 10pm. Service was laid back, no one checking on you a million times over - which I can appreciate. Our table had the vegetarian wrap and the carrot soup and both were so-so but priced really well. I'd love to give this place another chance, maybe earlier in the evening when we can pick whatever we want from the menu.

We went specifically for the deck and found it beautiful and a nice hideaway from the city. Through the dark bar and into the back there is a new deck with a clear cover so it's dry, even in the rain. We sat in the sunshine and had a glass of bubbles and some of their fabulous meatballs. A nice way to spend the afternoon!

Soo, after months of anticipation, we finally made it to Locol. We really love the atmosphere, and all the thought that was put into the design - especially the hanging lights with the oversize, dim filaments cosigning everyone with a convivial glow. The art on the walls is an awesome touch, and the staff are amazing and super-personable. For whatever reason, i was expecting a menu with more items - not a whole lot to choose from. My wife ordered the kale chips (interesting and crispy), which turned out to be a bad idea with my red wine, so I ordered the bread and oil. the bread was awesome, good olive oil - but I missed having a spot of balsamic vinegar in with the oil. They have a pretty decent selection of beer on tap, and a nice assortment of wines by the glass or bottle. I can see where this would be THE hangout in the area, a neighborhood bar where you can actually meet and talk with your neighbors - either before or after going out for a real meal. I'd love to go back, especially on a Sunday night for the live jazz, this would be a hoppin' joint for sure.

I live in Northeast Seattle, but everyone once in awhile I have the pleasure of trekking out to West Seattle for the sole purpose of visiting Locöl. The service is great, the drink selection is awesome, and the menu is top notch, considering how small the place is, especially the kitchen. I love the ambience Locöl gives. It's a great place to come in, sit down by the fire on a colder day, have a beer or two and just hang out. And then during the summer the patio, a new addition, is a great bonus to the restaurant.

I'm glad that Locol opened up where it is - I no longer have to go to the Junction to enjoy a drink & food. The food is pretty good - up a level from your usual bar foods. The portions are smaller than you're used to at a bar but it's plenty to fill me up. All the regularly appearing items on the menu (pulled pork sandwich, kale chips, tacos) are tasty and it's always nice to see what changes they make to the menu beyond that. The staff is always friendly. The outdoor patio is nice with this good weather we've been having lately, also.

I wanted to like this place so much, and I did, but it could have been better. I liked their large beer and wine menu (lots to choose from) but their food definitely has room for improvement. The kale chips were good and there were a lot of them; the cheese plate was fine but kind of small (I like the pepper relish); the beer cheese soup was not great - the texture was not smooth and the taste just seemed off; the tacos were small but good...once I put the tiger sauce on them. The best part of the meal was the dessert: a trio of rice krispie treats with spanish hot chocolate. My favorite one was the sea salt, yum! I like the atmosphere here and the people seemed nice and I will go back and give some other food a try for sure but I think the food is a little overpriced for what you get. It's a good addition to the neighborhood though, a-ok!

This place's delectable, small, seasonal local menu will please omnivores and vegetarians alike. The foods are fresh and healthful with creative flavors (I had an incredible veggie burger encrusted with coconut on a fresh Macrina roll, with mango pico de gallo and avocado aioli!). Wonderful friendly service! Great wine and local beer selections! What I love most about this small pub-restaurant is that the atmosphere is wonderful (locals, friendly staff, warm decor) and you can eat and drink for a reasonable price, and when you leave, instead of feeling all gross (from typical greasy pub food) you'll l feel NOURISHED, well-fed, and relaxed! I intend to visit again very soon. I love this place. The new spring menu ROCKS! Oh yes, and my companions had pork tacos - which ooohed and aaahed over as well. This food is made with love - you can tell.

Opening night for Locol in West Seattle was, from a customer service, quality of food and wine, and overall environment standpoint, as good as it gets. We were greeted at the door by one of the 7 owners, Shane, and although there was no immediate seating, he immediately suggested we go stand by the fireplace and warm up a bit. Moments later, a table opened up and we were seated and appropriately left alone for just a moment to get settled. Then Shane came back and asked if we were in the mood for wine or beer. We opted for wine so the house red was recommended and ordered. And my goodness, it was damn tasty. The menu was short, but very, very sweet. Lots of 4 or 5 dollar options. We weren't starving and I've been on a bit of health food kick, so we decided on the roasted chard. Yep, chard, as in swiss. Lightly covered with olive oil, roasted and then sprinkled with lemon zest, salt and something that we couldn't quite put our fingers on, but our tongues were volunteering to test and retest. So simple, yet so good. Did I mention that it only cost $4? A bit later another friend joined us. No problem for these on the ball guys. Just move a couple tables together, welcome our friend as well as they did us, more wine ordered and voila, another super happy customer. Final bill for the night: 6 glasses of wine, 1 roasted chard appetizer and 1 warm chickpeas and warm pumpkin seeds appetizer: $56. Finding a local restaurant bar that gives a damn about customer service: priceless.

First visit to Locol tonight and we were blown away by the amazing "buzz" of the bar/restaurant and the friendly atmosphere. The owners, Kristi and Kyle, were very friendly & exhibited A+ service in a very busy place. We enjoyed standing at the wine bar until a table opened up...and in awe of the great ambiance and charm of the new local bar! People were really enjoying themselves and we are excited to have another great W.Seattle place to frequent. The food was great, service impeccable, and we can't wait to spread the word about LOCOL and go back again. It far surpassed our expectations!

I LOVE locol and I am almost hesitant to make that claim because I want to keep this place quite to all the West Seattle regulars. I love the monthly menu rotation and find it hard not to go on the first of each month to check out what is new. A simple food menu that actually has good, in season food. The deserts are often adventurous, but when I have tried them I have yet to be disappointed. My sole disappointment with Locol would have to be the few times the food was inconsistent. We have came early on in the month and been super excited about them menu. We headed back later on in the month to have our favorites again because we figure they would have gotten better with time and sometimes that is not the case. But don't let that distract you from venturing to Locol. AMAZING micro brews and a great wine selection. You will definitely have a hard time saying no to another drink. Another highlight of this little place is that EVERYONE that works there is rad. Keep up the work guys! This place keeps getting better and I find more and more of my paycheck going there each month.

I was really excited when I heard about Locol because I live near it and there are no other restaurants/bars in the area. I also love the idea of locally made beer and as much locally produced food as possible. They did do it right with a good selection of local beers and wine. Unfortunately, the food is where it seems to fall short. In a nutshell, think lunch food, but for dinner. Sandwiches, soups, salads, a painfully small mac and cheese . . . all good things. But if you want a hearty meal this is not the place to go. Maybe that's a good thing since there are plenty of options out there with huge portions of meat and potatoes. But if that's what you're after this isn't the place. Give them a try, support a new business in an area I think needs it. I'll be back- just not when I'm real hungry.

I loved the atmosphere, the owners, and the beer/wine selection. However, the food, was not too good. I ordered crispy greens and they were burned-leaving a bitter aftertaste. The salad had WAY too much dressing, and the soup was very salty. I was also a little put off by the dirty looking hippy with a ski cap who was making my food. I really wanted to like this neighborhood hang out, but I think I will wait until they have had a chance to work through the new restaurant kinks,

Okay I was excited like others to finally go to Locol......but after paying $12.00 for not even 2oz of cheese....I was not excited. I am a food lover and being that I live in West Seattle was hoping to find a place to spend my food dollars at. I ordered the short ribs and it came on a bed of cold tupperware stored rice and under seasoned dressing. I say tupperware because the rice was in cold semi hard chunks. My bill came to $52.00 and I didn't feel like it was worth a third of that cost. I really hope that someone from Local will email me and ask me how they could improve their menu so I'll want to go back there. I want to support Locol because they are local. I would go and drink there but not eat there. The live music would be enough with good drinks but serving bad food is..well....bad.

Overall a great experience and I'm looking forward to going there again. Last night we had the marinated warm olives, and i had an amazing pulled pork sandwich with slices of horseradish root- just the right amount of spiciness- served on a soft warm bun with a side of greens. So SO tasty. My friend had some kind of panini with a white cheese and arugula - don't remember what else was on it, maybe beets? The bite i had was really buttery, and not in a bad way. Dessert was pumpkin brulee. The waiter was right, it did taste exactly like pumpkin pie. Locol is tiny, and was packed, but overall excellent service and nice ambiance. Reasonable prices for wine by the glass. I hope this place makes it!

Darling little place. Nice to finally have something in my neighborhood. Food is great, service is awesome, lots of beers to choose from. We went back a month after our first visit and the owner remembered us! Atmosphere nice, too. I'm definitely a fan.

Whatever... good local concept and it fills a need in the neighborhood but I am jaded from my first visit. I was damn hungry and ordered the pulled pork sandwich ($9) and had bacon added (+$2) and all I got was an oversized slider. For $11, that is a pretty shitty deal. My girlfriend got the Mac N Cheese with bacon ($10) and it was like served in a frickin ramekin. Bad value.

Have been meaning to make the journey up the hill forever to check this place out - my loss for not getting there before last night. We were greeted by one of the owners who immediately told us about their rotating tap and add ons to the wine list - informative, friendly and very welcoming! Food: Delilghtful! Kale chips were unusual, light, tasty and felt like truly an appetizer! I had the special sole with couscous which was delicious. My boyfriend had the pork tacos which were very good. Drink: Impressive. I tired the two Proleteriat cask wine pours - the white and the red. These are Walla Walla wines which are kept in the cask instead of being bottled - the best way to make sure the wines don't go bad as they never hit the air until they are poured . The white was a vigonier /roussane blend and was delicious. The red was even more amazing - a cab/syrah blend that was outstanding. Ambiance: Photos of old W. Seattle are projected on a wall - rotating art work, interesting and unusual light fixtures with funky bulbs, cool wood paneling on the walls, candles and an overall great feel. A bit warm in there on one of our few hot days, but will be cozy and comfortable once our weather turns. Summary: Shame on us for having taken so long to get to Locol. Looking forward to our next visit up the hill!

Yay! A close watering hole within walking distance!! The pasta gratin was YUM, as was the vegetable soup. The place is a little small and due to the fact that it's awesome was super packed. We got lucky and did not have to wait for a table or seat, but when our friends wanted to join us we were sitting on laps for a bit. That's the only reason that I've given it 4 stars otherwise it's a 5 star kinda place.

Friendly, local neighborhood bar with good drinks and great staff. Will be back when I'm in West Seattle. Crispy Kale Chips!

I love this place. My wife and I went here for the first time recently and both agreed that we would come back often. They have good local beers (NW, not just WA) and a good selection of wine. The atmosphere is cozy with friendly and knowledgeable service. We had some olives and the cheese plate for a snack and both were delicious. I feel that many reviews on here have unfairly attacked them on the cheese plate issue and all I have to say is go to the store and see how much it costs for really good artisan cheese (not Tillamook or Lucerne) and then you will understand how little money is made off of this dish. Try going to a nice French restaurant and getting even half this amount for twice the price. There, I said my piece in support of my new favorite bar.

Nice place, good atmosphere, decent prices. The fact that I can walk here makes it nice too. Will be back.

Best place to grab a drink in SWS. Awesome handmade bar made by the owners them selves.

This place is easily the best thing that has happened in our neighborhood in a long time. I have yet to be disappointed, the food is great and the atmosphere is just as fantastic. The owners are very appreciative of your business and offer tremendous service. I am so happy to have this nearby!!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here the other day. Was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. Not your typical bar food. The half sandwich/soup was the perfect size, filling without being overwhelming and the beer was delicious. Cozy space. The location is a little out of the way being down on 35th Street. Wish it was a little closer to the Junction but that's not anyone's fault.

This place is just what the neighborhood needed. Nice decor, great happy hour prices on drinks and very pleasant, attentive service. This place is clearly a labor of love for the owners and it shows in all the details of the place. The menu is extensive considering the size of their teeny kitchen, and the food is very good. Homemade and perfect portions. The only thing I found missing was the right kind of snacky share food that's needed when you drink beer or wine and don't want a sandwich. Kale chips just don't hit the spot. I'll meet up with friends at Locol any time. The atmosphere is perfect for catching up over a glass of wine.

Went to Locol twice in a week. Great and friendly staff, good beer and good eats. They just expanded their draft beer selection to 8 taps, and have plenty of wine options. Hopefully they get their hard A license soon! West Seattle needs more watering holes and love the fact that this is not at the Junction like everything else in West Seattle seems to be. The staff is pretty knowledgeable of both the beer they serve and the food that they make. I definitely plan to make it a monthly, if not weekly place to hang!

We love this place! Great atmosphere and charm, great service, awesome selection of beverages and food. Very reasonably priced. We love that we can walk here but it's also worth a drive. We will be back soon!

I really really really want to like this place. Its a good layout, good vibe, walking distance from my house... Just one problem.... Both times I have been here, the cook also doubles as the dishwasher. On one particular occasion, I literally watched him stick his hands down the drain moments before plating my food. I couldn't eat it after that. Please hire a dedicated dishwasher. At a minimum, have someone other than the cook do it. If / when that's the case, I will happily give this place a 4 star rating.

Finally, a local eatery serving local food and beverage where you truly feel at home. I am often disappointed when I eat out because I am an excellent home chef. It's nice to go to a place that is very casual yet tasty and full of complex flavors with simple, local, whole ingredients. The dishes are truly made with love, stemming from family recipes in some cases, and you can actually see the preparation by one chef in your peripheral. Small touches like a "pay it forward chalk board" where you can leave extra drink money on your tab for your friend or neighbor when they come in next. The menu impressed me. Everything was unique, yet comforting, and there was simply no way to improve it. It was Spot On! Often times you go out to dinner and can only count on a dish or two to at any given place to really bring you back in over and over again. With Locol, the entire menu needs to be tasted, and over and over again. I live in Belltown and will gladly drive to West Seattle for that comforting, tasty, local, and slightly gourmet touch without the guilt of hyper palatable foods or price tags of a down town wanna-be like Local 360 who continuously fails on all fronts. The friendly and truly happy staff and owners as well as like-minded patrons make this place comfortable for dining alone or in pairs. Conversation at the bar flows and everyone wants to know what YOU ordered.

We came for lunch yesterday and had a nice meal. The menu is pretty limited for lunch (may be different for dinner??) but the wine list is pretty good. We shared a bottle of wine (4 of us) and I had the Veggie Wrap. Very good. The waitress was very attentive and good. Will be back.

Warm little nook with a beautiful handcrafted interior. If you are looking for a generic drinking hole with a corporate business model and tater tots on the menu, this is NOT the place for you! They celebrate unique locally crafted beer and wine. The itsy bitsy kitchen puts out simple but flavorful food. It's a great place to try something new, celebrate the northwest, and grab a pint with a friend on a rainy West Seattle day.

My friend and I tried this place for the first time on 4/2/11. We arrived at 9pm (for dinner) and the entire bar was filled. We ordered two ciders right away. We were intending to actually eat dinner but it took a bit long to get a server to take our food order. We actually had to flag someone down, which made us feel kinda odd. But, to the server's credit, he was very kind and our food came right away. We ordered the "Grown Up Mac & Cheese." It was a small portion and very good. Then I ordered the cranberry rice pudding. --- It was, actually, well...umm, terrible. I am a huge rice pudding fan: I make it at home, order it in restaurants, etc. I think their version was just cooked incorrectly. Anyways, regardless of the lack luster rice pudding, the ambience and "feel" of the place shined through. I would go again and just sit at the bar for a glass of wine and cheese plate.

So happy to have a great place like this walking distance to the house. Wish it was a little bit bigger- but it's charming. Food was good- a little expensive, but unique. Hope they hook up with Mac & Jacks- that would get it to 5 stars. :)

Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. Great selection of local beers on tap and local wines to drink as well. I have been there several times and every time the food has been exceptional. Great laid back rustic Seattle woodsy vibe. I could just curl up next to the fireplace and warm away the chill from the inevitable Seattle rainy chill. Super friendly staff that have great suggestions and aren't overly solicitous. I understand that there can be some inconsistency in the food, but my experience has been solidly good (but then again, I haven't ever ordered the same thing twice either) Really happy that this place has opened and it is a welcome addition in this part of West Seattle.
