vidi veni vici Defeated the ginormous Mt Fuji Burger! and it only took me 30 mins. However the aftermath is not pretty. I had planned to try all their burgers/sandwiches eventually. I ended up doing all of them at once. I repeat it was Ginormous! Food coma setting in...

I go here on multiple occasions always with a group of friends. I get variations of the Ohayou Gozaimasu burger. Sometime i get the fries and its ALL good! Staff is courteous. Only a few gripes: Parking SUCKS. its right on the corner and shares a lot with other businesses, lot is uneven and stalls are a little small.

2 words... Great Stuff! I would definitely come back to this place if I am ever in the city/area again. Absolutely recommend this place. Service is good, reasonable price and delicious flavor! The area though is a little sketchy, restaurant is surrounded by industrial buildings but coming in earlier should be fine. I got the Tokyo Classic w/ beef which is i think the safest item to get if you wanna just try this place out first. Husband got the Chicken Katsu Curry and you should get this if you love the Katsu Curry. Finish off our meal with the Doriyaki Crunch which was a great finale.

If you like katsu, then this is the place for you. Unfortunately, I'm not really a fan of breaded and fried meats and it didn't occur to me that the "all natural beef patty" would be katsu style. So for me, it wasn't a burger so much as an elaborate sandwich that was ultimately disappointing. My husband and I split the Godzilla (beef katsu, pepper jack cheese, 12 spice blend, jalapenos, spicy mayo, and tonkatsu sauce) and Sumo-sized-it (adding nori fries, chicken/pork bansai bites, and wasabi coleslaw). Even with all the spices, the burger was bland because the katsu batter didn't have any flavor. While every bite was juicy, there was just something missing. This goes for the bansai bites as well. My favorites were probably the nori fries and the wasabi coleslaw but I didn't love them enough to want to come backr. Staff were very friendly though and overall, it was an interesting experience. Glad to have tried it, probably won't be back.

So good! Love their fries! Man it's just too good.. Everyone needs to try it at least once! It's usually pretty packed during dinner time so I would try to come a bit earlier because there aren't much tables.

A novel burger joint like no other. Deep-fried beef scares my aorta so my go-to burger is the Godzilla Attack with chicken instead of beef (Shhhh! Don't tell my aorta it's not much better!) When first opened, the burgers had some flavor balance issues with the various notes getting overpowered by the deep-fried protein but with time they have improved and developed a good balance. You can now enjoy and taste all the various elements on your burger. As for fries, I am a big fan of plain fries with curry mayo. If they put a cup of curry mayo with a straw in front of me and called it a shake, I would drink it. I haven't really branched out from my default choice but there are lots of good, unique flavor options to enjoy here if you're adventurous. Definitely worth a visit.

Being Japanese, the only katsu I've really seemed to enjoy was my moms home cooked ones. Two of my favorite foods are curry and katsu together, but never would I have thought it would be put together in a burger. The burger was delicious, but seemed very big proportionately. I had to smoosh the burger a bit before I ate it. The bun was a lil hard/dry but that didn't stop me. The nori fries were a bit on the salty side, but delicious as well. Katsu Burger is on the pricy side, but somewhat worth it for me. Kinda funny hearing people attempt to order the ' ohayou gozaimasu burger ' and not know how to pronounce it.

Very generous portions. I had the Ninja Deluxe. The panko on the meat rounded it out. Pleasant atmosphere, and clean. There's a world map on the wall, with pins indicating where the visitors are from. I added a pin to one of the islands of the Federated States of Micronesia ;-P.

One of the best burger places I've been to here in Seattle. Portions are really big which is great. You definitely get your money's worth when you come here. I got the Godzilla Attack with Nori fries and it was AMAZING! This is quite a unique establishment and I highly recommend it. Just come with an appetite and you will leave feeling satisfied!

It all depends on what you order...make sure you order a burger with a pork patty. I wasn't a huge fan of the beef burgers...and panko breaded beef patty is just weird and not that good. I made the mistake of ordering a beef burger and it was mediocre. So why do I give the place 4 stars? Because my friend ordered a pork katsu burger and it was significantly better than my beef burger. The pork lends itself a lot better to being breaded and fried than the beef patty. We also had the fries and they were solid. Both the nori and the 12 spice fries were good.

  • Kayla H.

Pretty sure my friends are going to sucker punch me for giving this place 4 stars. I love burgers, I love Japanese cuisine and fusion is super fun. Their portions are GINORMOUS. Seriously, a burger and fries will knock you into a fantastic food coma. I'm also usually ONLY a beef patty lady, but honestly, they knock the ground pork out of the park. Super juicy. I'm only detracting one star for the fries and sauces. I would really just love them to pack a little more punch and be a bit more bold. The sauces can get lost on such a huge burger. And the fries are cut so thin they're more like Nori sticks. Delicious Nori sticks, mind you.

Came here and the food was delicious and amazing. I left incredibly satisfied and quite full. Got a chicken burger (can't remember which one, it was a while ago) but the piece of chicken was huge and perfectly cooked. So huge in fact, that I had to cut it in half then eat just half of it so it would all fit on the burger. The fries were also amazing. I would come here everyday if I could but they're q bit expensive and out of the way. Heard they have a Bellevue location, definitely will try that out next.

  • Joseph W.

Their fusion burgers are pretty interesting. One must get the katsu burger... a fried piece of heaven with some really unique sauces... the sauces for the fries etc are great.... i think it was like a wasabi mayo or what not. Looking at the world map, you can tell how people from all over are stopping by. They really do a different burger in a non traditional sense and that is what will bring me back. I hope i get a chance to eat here again!

Move over Dicks... There is a new player in town. Ton Katsu on a sesame bun slathered in aoli, cheese, miso honey mustard, and topped with Wasabi slaw? Yes Please. Best burger in Seattle

I can't believe I didn't know this place existed sooner! My husband and I zipped over here for lunch Sunday afternoon as soon as I saw pictures of the Katsu Chicken burger. He had the Tokyo Tower, I had the Chicken Burger (I think it was wasabi something..) We split the nori fries. The burgers are HUGE (you really don't need a side)! I wish the bun was alittle thinner, but everything about it was still good. The wasabi mayo is my favorite. It kicks my sinus's butt! The staff was insanely friendly. They were obsessed with one of my tattoos and we talked about it for like 5 mins before they took my order, lol. They decor is cute, friendly, and clean. I can't wait to go back.

My two favorite things: katsu + burger. Put them together AMAZING. The place itself is very small and there is limited parking... and it is jammed pack! At least every single time we have been there. The food is worth it though. My favorite is the Ohayou Gozaimasu burger which has a fried egg, cheese, bacon, with delicious Japanese mayo. Try the nori seaweed fries while you're at it. You won't regret it. The portions are huge!

Probably the best burger place I've ever been to. I've only had katsu chicken from teriyaki places before and it was always kind of 'meh' for me, but my buddies had been here before, liked it and I was super hungry so I was game. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Katsu burger which has cole slaw, pineapples, onions, pickles and teriyaki sauce on it. I also ordered the nori fries and wasabi dipping sauce. My gawd were my taste buds delighted in everything that they tasted at Katsu Burger! They serve your burger in a parchment wrap because it's super big and juicy!! The chicken was cooked perfectly and all the flavors were amazing together. So much food I couldn't even finish it. I will be back for sure and I'll be bringing more friends with me.

katsu burger, you were a highly anticipated delight on a friday afternoon. at the end of the week, there's nothing better than releasing all your pent up frustration/exhaustion through the inhalation of a glorious burger. this is not your typical burger joint but it sure lived up to expectations. between the two of us, we got: 1 godzilla burger 1 katsu curry burger 1 nori fries with wasabi mayo and sriracha sauce 1 green tea ginger ale 1 calpico first of all, green tea ginger ale?! first time i ever came across this and it was delicious. green tea taste came through - subtle yet refreshing. now on to the burgers. 1) they are HUGE. 2) the katsu curry burger is a good basic to start. curry was good. katsu was a perfect, juicy, crispy slab of tender meat. cabbage was crispy and fresh. tonkatsu sauce just the right amount to complement the katsu but not enough to overpower. moderation is key, friends. 3) the godzilla burger was a whole other flavor explosion. if you like spicy, this is the one! i didn't know the patty would also be fried in the same panko batter as the katsu but i don't mind that one bit. all the juices were locked in. ample jalapeno and spice for all your fiery needs. nori fries - typical fries but with a seaweed twist. again, it was subtle so as to not detract from the essence of a good quality fry, but just seasoned enough to not be your ordinary fry. it's a maze trying to sort out that mess of a sentence, but get it and you'll see what i mean! i suggest you order and eat these burgers right there. they come with lots of sauces that may end up in a gloppy mess if you let it sit too long (alternatively, you can ask the kind workers there to package your sauces separately). BUT, i firmly believe deep fried katsu straight out of a hot, oil immersion basically mandates that you eat it within 3 minutes. next time, i will get the ohayo gozaimsu and the black sesame milk shake.

Unusual burgers and fries. Portions are huge. Counter service is good. Interesting decor to keep you entertained while you wait for your food. Not always the cleanest place, but the food is what you're there for anyway.

When it's good, it's great! Great burgers with hot fries and tasty shakes to satisfy any hunger. The rest of the time it's over priced mediocre burgers and cold fries. How can I get cold fries time and again? Back when they had Pandora for the music, you could hear some interesting music while you were there, but now they just play rap (which is not my preference) when I go there. Katsu Burger could be great, but it seems like some people there don't care.

had curry katsu burger, niban style (fries & coleslaw). katsu i got was the default pork katsu- nicely fried (crispy outside, juicy inside) niban style is a combo meal w coleslaw & fries. You get to pick the seasoning for your fries ( sea salt, curry or nori). I got nori. You also get one dipping choice (8 choices). I got wasabi mayo they have - miso honey mustard, wasabi mayo, japanese mayo, spicy mayo, tonkatsu sauce, sirracha ..cant remember all of them. they were friendly & provided fast service. Can't wait to try the Godzilla burger next!

When you think burger & fries in Seattle I thinkof the great ones: RED MILL DICKS DRIVE INN TWO BELLS TAVERON Notice on this list that KATSU BURGER did not make the cut? You shouldn't because it not worth mentioning in the burger scene of Seattle. So I stroll into Katsu burger after reading the hype machine around this establishment of deep fried burger & fries. I came to the conclusion I would have been far better off sticking my tongue in the deep fryer verse eat the food I was served. I ordered the Ninja Deluxe & Fries assuming I would be enjoying these tasty deep fried morsels. Both my burger & fries were served cold. WAY DISAPOINTED! McDonalds gets the fries hot, why can't you! Once you served cold fries it magnifies the tragity of your cold burger you served with it. So bring mittens when you head to Katsu Burger cause you'll need them!

Soooo good! Came here with Ron M. last week for my first ever Katsu Burger experience. It was well worth the wait - YUM! I went with the Ninja Deluxe, which was literally as big as my head. That's one BIG BURGER! It was super delicious. Loved the bacon and cheddar on it, as well as the tonkatsu sauce. It was so huge, I couldn't even finish it all. I also had the curry fries with wasabi mayo - a weird combo, but they worked together. I sampled some of Ron's nori fries - should have gotten those, they were awesome! He also had some sort of spicy mayo, which was tasty. A vanilla milkshake helped cut the spiciness of the curry and wasabi. It was like a delicious palette cleanser after every bite. Prices were a little high if you want to do a burger, fry, shake combo - it was over $16 bucks for me. But it was also wayyyyy too much food. I practically rolled myself out the door at the end of the meal. I think next time I'd probably just go with a burger. Or a burger and a shake. I will definitely be back here. Looking forward to trying the other burgers as well!

If you want something different or you have a hankering for something Japanese, this is a great place. We had the normal burger with wasabi coleslaw and a green tea milkshake. The burger was moist and crunchy at the same time. My wife who lived for many years in Japan gave it the thumbs up as did the mostly Japanese clientele in the place. We will be back.

I saw this place reviewed on a website or magazine some years ago, and it had always been on my "want to do" list but I never really got around to it. The place that reviewed it listed it's location as West Seattle. While I guess that's not entirely untrue a better description would be Georgetown area. Anyway on with the review. Last week a long time friend and I walked in to their pretty nondescript but cozy shop and we where decidedly pleased with the plethora of options. (They even have vegetarian fare.) Almost so much we couldn't make up our minds. The person at the register was extremely helpful as she informed us that our general uncertainty was normal. I chose the "Godzilla Attack" burger, which consists of a beef patty, pepper jack, 12 spice blend, jalapenos, spicy mayonnaise, and tonkatsu sauce. My thoughts on this burger, unique, spicy, Japanese influenced goodness. I will definitely be back.

This review is not meant to help the fine dining foodie. It's meant to help someone with a big appetite, who appreciates a high quality burger and has a sudden craving for a giant and unhealthy meal. I've revisited Katsu Burger a handful of times before reviewing and each time I go, I want to go back for more. Do they put crack in the burgers? No, they coat all of their patties (beef, chicken, pork or tofu) in panko, deep fry it and it tastes GREAT. I would recommend places like this to friends and family because it's unique. Recommendation: Any of the burgers are great. I've tried about 5 different versions from the Tofu burger to the Ninja Burger to the Godzilla and I would reorder any of them again. I'd recommend getting nori fries with the curry sauce. Special bonus star goes to Katsu burger because they separate out their recycle bins and use biodegradable cutlery! You don't have to feel so bad about dumping all of your waste into the garbage can when most of it can either be recycled or composted.

One of the best burgers I ever had. Godzilla with tofu was bomb! Spicy and yummy Fries were amazing not oily Curry powder and 12 spice blend The spicy mayo sauce n curry sauce amazing ! No words. Walked away feeling awed and blissful Top 5 burgers in Seattle no doubt whatsoever !

Gross gross gross... If I could give this place a negative 5 rating I would. They incorrectly gave our order to someone else (who started eating off the fries and un-wrapped the burgers) but instead of cooking our order again they just re-wrapped the food and was going to serve them to us.!! Had i not been in line to get a refund i never would've know. Super gross!

The main point of this review...GO EAT AT KATSU BURGER!!! Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT A TERIYAKI JOINT! DON'T ASK FOR TERIYAKI! IF YOU SHOW UP AND WANT TERIYAKI SUCK IT UP AND GET A BURGER! I've heard many good things about this spot. Finally made it out with my gf and cousins. Didn't know what to expect except for some good eats. Location is a bit deep, restaurant is located south of Seattle in the industrial part of town. But don't let the distance deter you from paying a visit to this unique burger joint in Georgetown. When you first walk in, the setup is simple and colorful. Japanese posters/anime/comics/memes line the walls. Between you and the counter are enough tables to seat probably 20 people max comfortably. Stepping up to the counter you see the kitchen which sits right behind the counter, that my friends is where all the magic happens. It's great because it's an open air kitchen you see them prepping meat, it's clean and organized not a mess. Menu is above the counter, some pretty good selections but you are at Katsu Burger, don't show up here to get a regular burger. Show up here to get a mother f'n pork cutlet burger! Their beef is good but it's to close to a regular beef burger, what is different and definitely worth a try is the pork cutlet burgers they have. I got the one with a fried egg on it =). Something else to call out as well, Jay the front of the house guy/bus boy/waiter/greeter, he was really cool. Seemed very passionate about the restaurant chatted a lot about the owner and the other sushi joint the owner owns. Had some great recommendations on what to eat steered us in the right direction. Why not a 5 star...well their sides are good but not great. Maybe next time though. So in the end, go eat here, enjoy it, love it, you won't regret it. If you do...well you must hate puppies, kittens and world peace.

Yum. Blah blah blah junk food blah blah heart attack blah arteries blah. Yes, all of their patties are breaded and deep fried. Even the beef ones. And it's amazing. Their burgers are ridiculously huge and very delicious. We liked the pork katsu one over the more traditional beef patty. The curry fries with the curry mayo was a bit much. Next time, I think I'll just get plain fries with a flavored dipping sauce. Milk shake was also delicious. Why not 5 stars? We thought the burgers needed more sauce. We'll be back when we're ready for another burger fix!

OMG! My first time here, which I excited told the person taking my order, was greeted with 20% just because it was my first visit! Simple menu, but not so simple. Let me explain: Simple burger choices, mostly beef options with one chicken option and one tofu option - pretty simple. Now not so simple is the "dipping" options. This is where YOU get to be creative in choosing your sauce =D I like choices! Spicy for me please... so the choice was simple, wasbi mayo. For a girl who doesn't like mayo, I still picked this choice because I love me some wasbi spice! Why stop there with my first time here. Go ahead and order the shoestrip fries... simple enough! Ahaa! there is a not so simple choice again, what type of seasoning... simple again, i choose the Nori option, why? because its different! If you take the take away option, your fries come in a cute to go chinese to go box... NOW, that is cute! One final menu item, I chose to try their milkshake which comes in a simple 3 selection choice of vanilla, chocolate or green tea flavoring (no caffine sad to say). EXCELLENT! Tastes like real soft serve ice cream with a flavor not the cheap artificial chain fast food milkshake! Food size portions are HUGE! My burger made to meals for me. Another important part of my experience was the friendly staff, helpful staff, and the tunes that the staff bopped to making the food. I like to see staff happy doing their job, I feel happy eating their food! Very busy inside, always a good sign for me. Another good sign, all my Asian peeps eating fried food and hamburgers to boot! Asian seasoning with American style food = GREAT MIX to me! =D

I had the Ohaiyo Gozaimasu burger, nori fries and green tea milkshake and I was STUFFED. I have to admit I have a huge appetite for someone my size and the burger was perfectly assembled in a tall stack of deliciousness that satisfied my tummy. Nori fries are a must! All the burgers can be substituted with chicken katsu as well which makes me more excited to come back and try all the other burgers. Plus, the guys at the counter were very polite and patient with us when we asked about the menu. &they have us coleslaw just because we got lost and called them three times.

Looks like a popular place once you enter and realize there is no where to sit since every table is full. Takes longer to make than the average burger. Kitschy fun japanese art and sayings scattered throughout the place. Definitely burgers you can share and the fries are also scrumptuous...a fun place to meet a friend when you are hungry or hungover...;)

Katsu curry burger, nori fries and a calpis! That's all you need to know... What a gem of a place in the middle of nowhere. I swear that I was gonna get lost in some Boeing back alley looking for this place. Anyhow, its down the street from Boeing and the Museum of Flight and on the way to the 5 thus a perfect place to come and eat after a long day at OEM. I was a bit skeptical at first but once I saw the breading, I know it was legit Japanese style katsu. The bugger was huge! I love katsu curry so katsu curry burger was a no brainer for me. (Gomene Keiko I don't want to sound like I'm picky but here are my thoughts: Fukujinsuke (red stuff you eat with Japanese curry) or a little karashi (hot mustard) with the bulldog sauce would've been a welcome addition. The sesame seed bun was an excellent option. As most yoshi people who have eaten real katsu know that fresh ground sesame seed with katsu sauce is awesome! BUT Please toast the bun! Nevertheless, it was Oishii!! I ate every sq. inch of the burger and licked all the nori off of the little box they were served in.. I wish I could give a bonus star for the drink selection as well. I have never seen anyone offer Calpis (Calpico in America) with a combo EVER.. So thank you for that. I will be back to conquer Godzilla! Stay Tuned...

Katsu burger is open again!!! They're fries are still amazing especially the nori and 12 spices one. Honey miso sauce is a must too!!! I got the curry fries, but you cant really taste the curry much. But i love this place so much. The burger is really fulfilling.

They changed their buns! They feature a bun that is kaiser roll-like and it is really good! It is more sturdy, a bit denser than the buns they used before. The new bun: yelp.com/biz_photos/9yHJ… As of Monday, January 16th, I finally completed the whole left side of the menu by ordering the Tokyo Classic (the previous Thursday I had the Samurai Select)! **OINK**

The staff here is friendly, and very personable. It's a small place, probably enough seating for 20 and a few more if you include the 2 tables outside. The burgers here are good, great if you want a burger and katsu at the same time. They have a few Japanese beers and snacks also available. Walls are decorated with Japanese themed art, kittens, sentai, and various anime. There's also a Chuck Norris calendar at the register.

  • Young C.

This place is great. The service is friendly most of the time, all my type of people since I am in the industry as well... and also serve katsu lol. The burgers are good, haven't tried the beef patty, only because I think the concept is odd. But the chicken and pork are both dank. They hit the nail on the head with the miso honey mustard. Nori fries are on point too. The only downside is the time in which you get your meal is spotty sometimes. 50% of the time it takes them about 4x longer than how long it would normally take to fry katsu, and the other half of the time it is quick. Try to go there during non peak hours, seating is limited as it is.

Oh, Katsu Burger, why did you do this to me? Could you have come up with a better idea for a burger than coating the beef patty in panko breading and deep frying it? I think not. It seems like every day I have to resist the urge to drive down to Georgetown and purchase what is my new favorite burger of all time, although my aging arteries convince me to stay at a safe distance. The one item that I have ordered here and will probably have a hard time deviating from is the Samurai Select which comes with bacon, pineapple, wasabi mayonaisse, and tonkatsu sauce. Sheer force of will is keeping me in this chair and writing this review rather than jumping up and driving down 4th avenue...oh, and also the fact that they are not open as I am typing this. The staff here is super friendly and does a great job getting through the line that is constantly stretched out the door. The store is very clean and well organized although a bit small. There are only a few small tables so if you aren't lucky enough to snag one, you will do just as well eating in your car. My burger never seems to last very long anyway, so this has never been a concern for me. There are many other items on the menu which maybe some day I will try like the Banzai Bites which are chicken breast pieces that i'm sure will go great with any of the various sauces that they offer. I am not a big fan of french fries in general and the ones they serve here are pretty standard although a lot of people like to get them with the curry seasoning. I was going to give this place four stars, but the last time I was here, I was checking out the really cool artwork in the hallway and I ran across something that pushed me over the top for that fifth star. They have a framed animated portrait of the space battleship Yamato from the anime movies of the same name which were also made in to a TV series for the U.S. called Star Blazers. That image carries a very special place in my heart from my childhood days of watching cartoons and now so does Katsu Burger for making a burger that is just so good I will keep coming back as often as I will allow myself to indulge.

One of my coworkers uploaded a pic of herself with a huge burger. I showed it to my bf and he wouldn't stop asking to go to Katsu Burger. Georgetown is FAR from where I live (Northgate) but we made the trek during rush hour anyway. BTW, the address on Yelp is INCORRECT and the correct address is on their website. We decided to order two burgers because we didn't just drive all the way to Georgetown to split a burger. I really had no idea how HUGE they would be. They were almost as big as my face. We ordered to go because we had a puppy with us and sampled our burgers with a hungry pup begging with her sad eyes. She didn't get to have any of my katsu curry burger, or my bf's Samurai Select, or the delicious curry fries with spicy mayonnaise. She really missed out on my crunchy chicken patty, flavored lightly with what was probably S&B curry. She also would have loved the wasabi mayonnaise, bacon, and pineapple on the bf's burger. OK maybe not the wasabi mayo, but I sure loved it. I also had never heard of beef katsu, which was in the Samurai Select. I ended up eating less than half. The bf finished the rest. He couldn't stop commenting on how delicious the burgers were for the rest of the day. Next time we'd definitely share, but I'm not sure if the trek is worth it (for me, that is).

Oh man...words cannot express what happened to me after eating these deep fried burgers. Now before you decide not to go here you have to be aware of what your body can tolerate. I normally don't eat [and try to stay away from] deep fried food. So...if you're someone like me, RUN! First of all, for taste I would rate these at a four...very good flavor. I ordered the Godzilla Attack, a deep fried beef patty with pepper jack cheese, 12 spice blend sauce, jalapenos, spicy mayonnaise, and tonkatsu. Little did I know that I actually consumed the son of Godzilla Later that afternoon, apparently the son of Godzilla had hatched within my stomach and began to have a battle royal with Gamera. I had a gastrointestinal experience like nothing I've ever imagined. Cramps, sweating, bloating beyond my worst nightmare. I've had food poisoning from some bad shellfish and that was almost like a skip in the park compared to what was going on inside me. Then came the pressure build up and relief....OMG, the sounds, like trumpets calling the demons back to Hell...the stench, like 1,000 rotten corpses vomited. I couldn't stand to stay in one room for fear of succumbing to my own odors. Then came the exit plan....what came out of me felt like someone tried to funnel Niagara Falls through a coffee straw. It was horrible! Needless to say I won't be returning to the Japanese Fried Burger torture chamber.

Very friendly guy behind the counter today! I decided to drop by Katsu Burger on my way to work today, I was rushing to I had to grab and go. Cute place...I love the map they have hanging where you can drop a pin where you're from and you're able to peek in the back and see what going on in the kitchen which I, personally, love. I chose the Ninja! It was VERY fresh and delicious. Super yummy pulled and slaw!!! I only maybe wish it was spicier but now I know I'll go for something extreme next time! Sadly, I had to skip the fries today as I was already worried about how fast I was going to be forced to eat my burger to make it to work on time. But I can't wait to try their Nori fries and Spicey mayo! The girls dining while I was waiting for my order had a nice mound going and it looked like they were really enjoying it! Will return soon!

I have no idea how I haven't written a review for Katsu Burger yet! I've been here many times and I've loved everything I've had. Making my way through most of the menu, I can tell you that everything is delicious, fresh, and unique. I love their options for fries and sides, and the dipping sauces are really great! Katsu is slowly becoming my favorite place to eat! The staff is amazingly friendly and knowledgable, and the place is always clean. Even when it's packed, there's time for good customer service and a clean table. Seating is limited, so be prepared to wait for seating or making your order to go.

There's so much I absolutely LOVED about Katsu burger that I cannot even put it into words. But I'll try! While it's not often I'm in the area, Katsu is worth the trip. My dad was visiting from CA and gave me a few hints about what he was looking for at lunchtime. He said he wanted large portions, preferably something Asian, something warm and something fast. Thinking of udon or ramen places that all close in the middle of the afternoon I was scrambling to find a place in the middle of the day that still met the criteria. And then it hit me... Duh! Katsu burger! Having been to Japan 10 times or so, I knew my dad was going to love this, even though I hadn't even been before! We pull up and there are a few spaces available. Already off to a good start my boyfriend, my dad and I open the door and are greeted with adorable brightly colored walls, tons of photos, posters and various Japanese themed/related artifacts. There's also a drinks fridge packed with your common name brand sodas as well as japanese teas, sodas and flavored drinks. Score! More importantly though, the menu on the wall is incredible. The options are endless but the breakdown of the ordering process and how things are made/assembled is spelled out in the simplest way. All menus need to be more like Katsu's! We each place an order for a burger as well as some other appetizer items and special dipping sauces. Within minutes the burgers were done and delivered to our little booth. It's not a large space but there's enough room for 10-15 people to eat here at once. The burgers were amazing, I loved the fries, and my dad's chocolate shake was awesome. Nothing here is really very healthy but don't we all deserve a treat once in a while? I noticed while we ate that as soon as any other group/person left, someone came from the back to immediately wipe down and clean the table. I even noticed that they wiped the seats and the booth. Smiling as I spotted that, it's clear that this place cares about staying clean. Everything was spotless and the place appeared as it if had just been open a day or two. The employees were smiley, they checked on us after we started to eat and made sure that we were all happy with our food. Long story short? Eat here. You'll love the food and hate that you'll be forever addicted.

Similiar to a fast food joint. I try to stay gluten free, so the fact that their burgers are breaded and then deep fried was not quite desireable. I got a burger anyway and it was different but still good/average. The fries were good and all the choices were daunting. The fries have about 3 different choices and then there are 3 or 4 different choices for dipping sauces. Ask teh cashier plenty of questions.

I LOOOOVE THIS PLACE! NORI FRIES ARE GENIUS AND A MUST HAVE! I could eat this as a meal by myself. My bf and I shared this because the burgers were huge. Perfect amount. I personally LOVE katsu curry and rice so I ordered the katsu curry burger. It's a huge burger! It has a huge breaded pork cutlet, cabbage, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, cheese and their curry sauce. Like a bawse. Boyfriend ordered the ninja deluxe burger. It has a huge breaded pork cutlet, bacon, tonkatsu sauce, cabbage, tomato and cheese. They have a variety of dipping sauces to choose from as well. We tried the spicy mayonnaise. I don't even like spicy but it was yummmmmy! We were both sad that they didn't have any ice cream to make shakes but the burgers were bomb dot com. They have free magnets and buttons for you to keep too! Definitely coming back!

Holy heart failure in two ways: one, because everything is fried and two, because it makes my heart so happy. A Japanese twist to "fast food", in quotations because the food does take a little longer to get to your table. I had the ohayou gozaimasu burger, mostly because of the fried egg. Add a kinako-black seasame seed milkshake and with nori fries...amazing. Everything I love. The kinako milkshake had a taste like a regular milkshake but still tasted like kinako! DELICIOUS. Everything together was a bit much. I only ate half my burger then forced the Boy to eat the rest. He didn't complain much. Definitely not an everyday place to come unless you seriously want to piss off your doctor. For the passing through traveler, it's perfect. All the food is heavy and to die for (haha...literally). Think about sharing the burgers so you can have a chance to try everything and not feel like passing out right after.

Woooow....I seriously don't know why I haven't been to Katsu Burger sooner. I love this place because their burgers have a Japanese twist. At first, I was slightly overwhelmed with the menu since everything sounds so good. In the end, I ended up ordering a chicken katsu curry burger, topped with a fried egg, and upgraded it with a side of curry fries with spicy mayo sauce and a soda. Yeah it sounds fatty but whatevs, I might as well go big or go home. The portions are huge at Katsu Burger. I probably could finish a whole burger if I didn't order fries but the fries were pretty good, although I would go with curry sauce next time (I couldn't stop dipping my friend in my friend's curry sauce). The burger itself was delicious and definitely worth the extra calories, although I'll be for the rest of the weekday. ;) If you haven't tried Katsu Burger yet, you must go now!

THE BEST. I LOVE IT. Katsu Burger combines my two favorite things: fried katsu and hamburgers. Katsu Burger is located in Georgetown right next to a convenience store that sells gifts, knives, and adult movies. Stay classy, Seattle. The place is small, and the line is usually out the door. But the service is excellent and the food is worth the wait and the cramped conditions. I always order the same thing (but seriously everything is good here): -NINJA DELUXE: fried pork cutlet, bacon, cheddar, Japanese mayo, and tonkatsu sauce. -CURRY FRIES: served with one dipping sauce. -GREEN TEA MILKSHAKE

First off I would like to mention how amazing the food was here regardless what you pick from the burgers to the coleslaw. Thanks to the excellent customer service by Keyko who was very well informed about each of the items on the menu and detailed description of the taste before we made our selection. I ended up with the Samurai Burger with Curry Fries with their popular spicy sauce, then later tried the Coleslaw and their new Kushi Katsu skewers which are absolutely amazing and filled with a lot of flavor. I also got a chance to try their Chai Milkshake which I can't believe why any other Java joint hasn't come up with this yet. Hands down, I will be coming back here for sure....especially to witness my best friends challenge with the Mt. Fugi Burger which will be customized by Keyko herself hopefully this coming week. Ok now down to the bad part of this review....parking is limited, but for a place like this it is totally worth the search for parking and keeping all 5 stars on the rating scale. and yes its that good, so good its great!!

Katsu Burger is quirky, serving up massive burgers with japanese stylings. While it is off the beaten path, Katsu Burger is a fun field trip. Pair it with a Costco outing or a bar night in Georgetown. The Samurai Burger, nori fries, and green tea milkshake are a fun combination for two to split. The samurai select burger is a lightly fried beef patty, capped with bacon and pineapple. Add to that some thinly shredded cabbage, sliced tomato, and pickles plus a kaiser bun. Wasabi mayonnaise bumps up the heat and tonkatsu sauce adds some sweetness. While the quality of this burger isn't on par with, say, Blue Moon or Red Mill, I really love the unique fixings that they offer. The nori fries are served piping hot with flakes of seaweed. Salty and so delicious with the sweet burger.

Oh my god, how to describe the juicy awesome-ness that is Katsu burger. I am not a huge tonkatsu fan, so everytime that I have gone I have gotten the same thing: the ohayo gozaimasu) which means "Good Morning". Bacon, fried egg, lettuce (or shredded cabbage, don't remember too well), and a whole bunch of sauces I choose not to have because I am somewhat sauce averse, on a deep-fried burger patty, on top of a giant sesame seed bun. Figuring out how to eat it can be challenging, but worth it. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Sooo tasty. The shop is pretty small, not great for a big group unless you are taking it to go. But the decorations are awesome, Japanese advertisements all over the place. It's extra fun if you can read Japanese/are familiar with Japanese culture. They have a variety of toppings and sauces, and I think you can get pork (the tonkatsu option), tofu, or beef as your deep-fried patty option. Love it!

Pretty darn tasty, unique burger. I came with a friend and had the Katsu curry burger ($7.95) and my friend had the deep fried beef burger with pineapple which he really enjoyed. I tasted both and thought both were good. This is a once in awhile food. Deep fried patties? Yeah, it's indulgent. I couldn't eat my whole burger but I really liked it. The bun is just your average industrial bun but that's okay. I think that's part of their recipe: American opulence + Japanese flavors. They had Canada Dry Green Tea Ginger ale which I hadn't tried before. I really enjoyed it! The next day I had some indigestion (TMI, sorry). I don't think my body is used to this kind of food and wondered what it ever did to deserve that. :/ For me I enjoyed Katsu Burger and am glad I finally got to try them out. I am not sure it's worth the trek for me for a special trip (I live in North Seattle) but if a friend ever wanted to venture over I would be more than willing to go again.

If I was rich I'd eat here a lot. Burgers were heart attack on A bun just how I like it. I'd still rather go mcdonalds across the street and get 8 mcdoubles for the price of 1 burger here doe. The fries were average but the curry mayonnaise is a gamechanger. Unique sauces and flavors. Will come again someday to try more

A friend of mine had been going on for months about how wonderful this place is, and he finally took me there. Mmmmm. Deep fried burgers, nori fries, and love. That's what makes Katsu Burger so wonderful. The sauces are ridiculously good. My mind is blown. I cannot wait to take friends here! Yum, yum, yum!! Be aware though that there are very few tables and it gets quite busy in there because it's terrific.

Oh Katsu. You are so delicious. Your food is giant and your prices are fair and equitable for the monstrous morsels you deliver. I do wish the food was hotter. It's usually just warm, even though I watch it being bagged up (?) Today, I proclaimed to my coworkers that I shall never again pick up orders for other people. 2 out of 3 times, the order has been wrong/missing something. Today, I lost 2 hours just dealing with going back, waiting, and waiting for one of the many trains that creep through G-Town. Sigh. But the people here are really congenial about it--they've thrown down some free fries and coleslaw for the issue(s), but it just seems like 7 orders shouldn't be too crazy to get right. I always get charged the right amount... Actually, that's not true. Today, I only got 5 burgers though I paid for 7. I was so frustrated, I just told them I'm picking up the first missing burger (the Ninja Deluxe) and that I would just pay for the missing Wabi Wasabi burger (that I got called about while waiting for the Ninja.) Yes, I paid for 8 burgers when I got 7. BLARGH. I'll still come, dammit. But I'm ordering nori fries (or curry fries), spicy mayo dipping sauce with my Miso Honey Tofu Burger for me only. ME! ME! ME! There's no "me" in Katsu you say, but every time I come here, I'm going to tell people I'm heading to "Katsume"--and no, I ain't picking you up anything!

I like burgers, but i think this place was okay. It was pretty big though i had to cut it in half. I had the Samuari burger, which had pineapple in it, im not a big fan of fruit in my food but it was okay. I also had the Banzai Bites, which i thought was pretty good. I think it's an okay place to go too, but good. would come here again if i wanted a real burger.

It's okay, not too great, not too bad. It's a bit different than your usual burger joint, so it's worth a visit every once in a blue moon. But I wouldn't go crazy over this place. Also, you have to order fries and soda (in cans, meaning no refills) separately, so if you order a burger, fries, and a soda (or two), it will cost a bit more than you expected walking in. This place advertises as a Japanese burger joint, and they do have menu items that are unusual for a typical American, such as various kind of Asianized fries as other reviewers mentioned. But unlike Japanese burgers (you'd find in Japan), the burgers are quite large in size., even by American standard. But it's the food that stands out for the wrong reasons. The sauce is way too sweet and salty; this overpowering sauce doesn't jive too well with their deep fried katsu which most of the menu items come with. And unlike authentic (not Americanized) Japanese katsu, which are light and crisp, katsu here is very much Westernized, dripping in saturated oil you'd expect in a truck stop diner middle of nowhere. Instead of sauce accompanying the burger, it tasted as if meat is accompanying the sauce and deep fried oil. At best, the burger I had tasted like over hyped Bonzi burger from Red Robbins (and I'd prefer Red Robbin over this place). But then again, maybe I should've been forewarned when i saw no one resembling Japanese working here. Maybe it was just my wrong (and maybe biased) expectation, but I was hoping to taste something similar to burgers I had in Japan, but this place is far from it. But seems like there are many folks who like this place, so good for them.

I've been wanting to try Katsu for a while and finally had the opportunity. First off, the service is great! Everyone seemed like they really enjoyed working there. It looked fun. You order at the counter, but they bring it to you. I'm glad they didn't shout my name when my order was up, then expect me to go get my food... When the woman brought my food, she made the effort to let me know about stirring the wasabi coleslaw first because it tends to settle to the bottom... This was a nice touch. Something she didn't have to do and it made a big difference. While I was leaving the place, she called me by name and said thanks for coming... Again, it really shows that Katsu wants your business. There was a lot of thought that went into the menu. Great selection for everyone's taste... Of course, it all has a Japanese take on it. But they were really cool about letting you change things up. I had the Curry Katsu burger (pork cutlet), Curry fries with miso-honey mustard, wasabi coleslaw and a chocolate shake... You get LOTS of food. The burgers are huge! You really get what you're paying for. The chocolate shake was really tasty... The best thing to try is the curry fries. I will most definitely make it a habit of going here...

Definitely new to my taste buds. I'm from San Francisco and visiting family in Seattle. I wanted to make sure to try new places (not chain restaurants). This place surely surprised me! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it more than just good! I got the Tokyo Classic, but with chicken, Nori fries and some tea. I think next time I'll ask for the Tonkatsu sauce on the side so the burger stays crisp and crunchy throughout the whole meal. Other than that, everything about the burger was perfect! The fries were so good too! It wasn't too salty and had good flavor. Overall, BOMB! Definitely wouldn't mind coming back again next time I'm in Seattle!

Came with a group of 4 for dinner, one doesn't eat meat so she had the tofu burger. We cut the other 3 sandwiches into quarters and shared bites. Everyone preferred the item they ordered, so below is just my opinion, but I would say that overall everyone thought it was a hit. Wabi wasabi - my order, my favorite. loved the crunchy patty, flavorful sauce. Wabi wasabi chicken - I thought the chicken wasn't as yummy as the beef. Godzilla attack - jalapenos were a nice touch, but didn't seem all that spicy. I still preferred my wabi wasabi. Nori fries - good, with a hint of seaweed. Curry fries - my order, i preferred this to the nori. the hint of curry was very yummy, it was neither over-powering or under-whelming and paired nicely with the spicy sauce that i selected to go with it. Spicy sauce - it's a little bit of spice, buy yummy. Wasabi mayo - this one tasted more like just mayo to me so i didn't love it as much as a dip.

I got the Samurai burger. I usually don't write short reviews, but if it's "about the food" then all I got to say is: It was the best G** Damned Mutha F***ing burger I've had to this point in my miserable face-stuffing life. So go there and get a burger. If you went and didn't like it--give 'em another shot, maybe they had an off day.

Quite a unique establishment. There's not much decor or atmosphere here, but anyone familiar with the Georgetown area will understand. Nori fries - get it Ohayou Gozamasu - beef patty, cheddar cheese, FRIED EGG, bacon, Japanese mayo, and Tonkatsu sauce is my favorite so far, mostly because I think all burgers need a fried egg on them... and bacon. Katsu Curry - Pork cutlet with curry mayo and tonkatsu sauce and American cheese You can substitute any patty for beff, pork, chicken, or tofu. Their tofu is organic and quit yummy. It is definitely a heavier meal though, so prepare to take a nap afterward!

Definitely the hot spot for Boeing Field workers and Georgetown dwellers! The burgers listed on the menu sounded really good but I decided to go with the special: The Miso Honey Mustard Chicken Burger. I added fries and a drink with that. I sat near the window watching East Marginal Way traffic. My order was up and I grabbed my tray from the counter. I munched on my fries first. They were hot, crispy, and tasty. I love the container they put it in. I was ready for my burger. I unwrapped the paper and my burger was revealed. It was enormous! I had to get up and grab a knife because my two hands couldn't handle it. It was a delicious burger. After I ate I chatted with the employees. They are a friendly group of people. I had to grab a bag because I couldn't finish everything. I had a great experience! I'm so glad this burger joint popped up in the south end. I can't wait until I get another day off so I can visit again.

From the street, this just looks like another hole-in-the-wall burger joint like any other. But, once inside, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary burger joint! The menu creations are as unique as they are flavorful. Our group ordered a variety of different burgers like the Ninja, Samurai, Godzilla Attack.. and everybody loved their burgers. They also offer Nori and Curry fries in addition to the regular sea salt variety, all universally loved by our group.

Went back for the Ninja. Just like the Tokyo Classic, it was cooked perfectly, super moist. It packed a lot of flavor. The pork cutlet is not too thick or thin. The Nori fries are still amazing with the spicy mayo dipping sauce. Parking and seating are quite limited, so get in early.

This is not your average burger joint. It's Japanese take on traditional American burger and fries is awesome to say the least. You can find beef, chicken and pork options on the menu all with great condiments to complement your meat choice. There are also multiple fry and shake options as well.

This place is awesome for many reasons. The service was amazing. The staff seemed to really like working there. At first I was thinking eh this is just like any Burger joints looking at it from the outside. I was skeptical at how great this place really is. My girlfriend heard great reviews about it from her friends and I didn't want Chinatown food so I said sure. When I walked in I see the prices and I'm like dang 8-9 bucks for just a Burger? However the food sounded really great and it was. It was worth the eight bucks. It fuses Asian elements with an American Burger. When I couldn't decide what to get the lady at the front was very helpful. They were very chill and nice. They didn't rush us.we also went at a non busy time on a weekday. I order the ninja Burger and my girlfriend got the nori fries and Banzai bites. Why it gets five stars: The food: the nori fries were amazing. The flavor in them is amazing. You just gotta try it. If you like that Japanese seaweed you would like this. The Burger was amazing. Its eight bucks but I've never had pork that thick. The Bacon and pork were decently sized and was definitely not paper thin like at most places. ive gotten bacon at numerous places like red robin and five guys. and at those places its usually all fat and very thin. this place actually gives you thick pieces of meat. like i was able to stab the bacon with a fork and it was thick enough where it didnt flop over. the flavor was also amazing. i saw a sign that says they use all natural no growth hormone meat. it was well apparent. the pork i had was very juicy and cooked perfectly. i really want to try their beef next time. i was just craving the toppings for the pork burger more today. you can switch the meats at no charge but im a believer of keeping the menu the way the chef intended at least for the first few times i visit the establishment. overall, the meat did not feel like it came out of the freezer and they spent a lot of time and effort to season it and tendorize it. pork is very hard to cook. you cook it too long it becomes dry. you dont cook long enough its raw and raw pork is well bad. and they cooked it perfectly. very impressed the banzai bites were juicy as well. my girlfriend really enjoyed it. we also got complimentary dessert because they were tryingout a new item. it was ok. its a fried red bean with matcha sprinkled on top and a honey dipping sauce. i thought it was ok. but its free and they were testing it out. i think i would like it more if it had more filling. the sauces were different. if you really like sauces then youd want to try theirs out. its very different. me personally am not a huge sauce fan when it comes to certain things. i felt like the sauce sometimes mask the really flavor. the nori fries i dipped in the sauce to try it but i definitely like the nori without the sauce cause the sauce overpowers the nori flavor. however the sauce with the banzai bites really complimented each other. overall im definitely coming back to this place to try out the other foods and drinks. i just hope you dont read this review. have high expectations and then not like it cause of the high expectations XD

Cry no more people. This joint is back and running! the new owner seemed like a great person and the burgers and fries were the same if not better. I'm so glad I drove by and turned my car around as soon as I saw it. I got a bunch of burgers back home for the fam and it was as good when I got home in Bellevue. I got fries as well with all three different types of seasonings.. spot on... if you loved this joint before or want to try something new in terms of burgers. This is THE place.

The moment I walked up, the location is oddly placed. I was a little lost at first! The inside is small and awkward. People get confused walking in and coming out, who's in line, and who's waiting. I decided to wait for my order on a far wall which seemed like a good idea, but it was the walkway to the bathroom or kitchen.. i don't know, which so many people kept squeezing by, I then decided to wait by the drink machine! They do carry some Japanese typical drinks and candies, don't buy them here. Sooo over-priced. I had ordered a Ninja Deluxe and nori fries + kare mayonezu. Waited about 10 minutes WORTH IT. I darted out of the small place as fast as possible, bag in hand, i found a comfy curb to sit on. Pulling out the sandwich.... it smelled so good, felt so good. I unwrapped the giant sandwich staring at me in the face, it's crispy pork cutlet, juicy and tender on the inside, the katsu sauce slicked down the tender, crisp shreds of cabbage...the bacon......enough said. Just..bacon. Yum. The soft bun...the melting cheese...It was waiting for my mouth to wrap around it. Willingly I did so what it wanted. It was one of the best tasting, out of the box ideas for a burger ever. I never thought to put tonkatsu on a bun with cheese and bacon. To the nori fries. They get kind of stale cold, note. But all fries do anyway so just eat them fast! Which shouldn't be a problem since the buttery texture of their soft and fluffy insides, surrounded by a golden crisp outer shell, glittered with emerald shimmers of nori throughout, bring out their all great potato goodness, dipped in what i call, another genius thought, "curry mayo". I will be wanting that green tea milkshake on my next visit. Although I'm not big on ice cream or shakes...this....paired with that. Must be bliss. Service: 3/5 Food:5/5

This semi hidden, located in the middle of nowhere restaurant is just awesome! The burgers are incredible and definitely worth the wait if there is a line. When I went, the line wasn't too bad but after I sat down, it got super crowded around 1. This place is a must-go for tourists and they even have a large map for tourists to pin where they come from. The only complaint I have is the limited seating.

The unhealthy Japanese food Great burgers, fries, shakes Japanese style. This place is off the beaten path in Georgetown. You might pass by it without realizing it. It isn't a very big restaurant with about 6 different tables and that's it. I got the Samurai Select Burger - beef patty (fried), bacon, pineapple, wasabi mayo, and tonkatsu sauce and enjoyed it. My friends got the Ninja Deluxe and liked it. The sesame smoothie was awesome. The curry fries were extremely salty and I couldn't finish them. My friends who got the Nori fries and those were great. Need to try the other burgers but will always get the nori fries and sesame shake!

I've read so much about Katsu Burger. Perhaps I had set the bar too high. My first visit and rather than going off the menu, I order the special named Beef Ninja. The BN was a katsu beef patty with cheddar, bacon, cabbage, Japanese mayo and teriyaki sauce between the halves of a sesame seed bun. Like others have mentioned, the burger is a bit scary when it comes to your table as it stands a good 6 inches high. Getting your mouth around the thing is a challenge. My problem with the whole thing was that it was a bit dry, even with the mayo and teri sauce. The katsu fried burger was well done so that may be part of the reason. I love the unique concept they have going here but I missed the juicy burger aspect that I love some much from a regular burger. Next time, the pork cutlet!

This place is in Georgetown and in the spot that Manila Cafe used to be. They serve Japanese inspired burgers. Pretty creative I thought. I tried the Tokyo Classic. A katsu style beef patty with shredded cabbage, tomato, red onion and tonkatsu sauce. Oh my gosh it was soooooo good. The beef patty was cooked perfectly, juicy and not greasy. It was a huge burger and it took me awhile to finish so the bun started to fall apart because of the sauce. They could put a little less sauce. But still it was awesome. Also had the nori fries with wasabi mayo. Awesome. Their meats are free from antibiotics and growth hormones. Can't wait to try another burger. I wish they were open on weekends though.

I have eaten here a handful of times and enjoyed it every time. The spot is kinda weird to get to but once you've been there its not bad. Its little but cute inside with a cute japanese feel. The portion sizes are huge and the sauces are incredible. I love the curry fries and I love dipping them in wasabi mayo, miso honey mustard, spicy mayo and more. I out the pork cutlet on any of their burger choices and love them all. If you are taking it to-go it will get a little soggy from the delicious ponzu sauce so if that bothers you you should maybe eat it there. Otherwise no complaints,

I came here because my significant other has been following another Yelper from Seattle who has practically ordered everything on the menu here. Since we were in the neck of the woods, my partner couldn't help it but to make an impulsive stop to see for himself what the hype is all about. We went in, saw the small joint has no more than 20 seats. The menu was short. We had a hard time deciding what to order as the names are rather ambiguous. We saw things like Godzilla, Ninja etc. We asked the very friendly staff for popular items and she said Godzilla is one of them so we went ahead and took her advice and we requested the burger be cut in half. We didn't wait long for our order. We got our order and got out of there (as we waited there were more people flooding in). I unwrapped the burger and this treasure was HUGE! In the middle there's a generously cut of thick beef patty deep fried with bread crumbs. The Japanese mayo and pickled jalapeño pepper worked beautifully with the shredded cabbage - not iceberg lettuce but green cabbage. Every bite you get to taste the sweet juice of the patty and the buns were never soggy or wet. My partner and I didn't feel sick from eating this bad boy so I guess we are coming back here again.

The idea of this place is a Japanese burger shack where instead of beef patties we have katsu! The decor consists of pictures of mangas and animes as well as Japanese decorations. Pretty small place located in Georgetown district, this place is an interesting find! To the good part - Food - We ordered a ninja Deluxe, a Godzilla attack, nori fries, curry fries, green tea shake, and a sesame shake. We got Curry sauce and wasabi sauce for the fries. Ninja Deluxe- Great katsu, Juicy tender pork that was cooked to perfection. The only thing that I did not like about it was that the top bun was way too thick. The thickness caused it to be a little dry. The burger was not very warm at that but it still tasted good when I ripped of some of the top bun. Godzilla Attack- This burger had a kick to it. Filled with some tasty jalapenos as well as beef katsu, which was super tender and had good flavor. But a same fault as the bun was too thick at the top and it was not hot. Fries- Nori fries were very tasty with both the sauces. Having the hint of Nori with the fries made the dish interesting. The curry fries were good but I could not have much of them as it dries out the mouth with the powdery texture of the curry powder. I would suggest adding a little salt to the curry fries as this really helps bring out the curry taste. Shakes- The shakes were very tasty, the sesame really had the sesame taste to it and so did the green tea, but I think the green tea one was a little too sweet for my liking. Over all the food would have been better if it were hot and les breading. For the cost, it was a little more than I wanted to spend but for a specialty burger it was a good try. Would try again, hopefully it will be hotter next time.

The Mt. Fuji is like no other burger. I split it, some curry fries with tonkatsu sauce, and their limited edition shake that had a subtle peanut butter taste. It was incredible! The staff is super friendly and helpful. I love that they also sell candy like Hi Chew and Yam Yams and they have random art on their walls. I saw ninjas, Tokidoki, and a movie poster for Train Man! I have returned several times since this draft and everything has been delicious!

This burger looks like the picture. You can't buy that type of goodness. It's one of my favorite spots in Seattle. Frankly, the reason I'm writing this review instead of eating is that they are busy and making my burger. Otherwise my usual eating and forgetting to put this on yelp would apply. They are that good. Feel blessed I decided to write this in between eating yet another epic Katsu Burger.

Awesome place to get a Japanese style burger! Their interior is so cute and funny. The staffs are very friendly. Their burgers are pretty big, definitely not Japanese size. My husband and I ordered one burger for each, Ninja Deluxe and Ohayo Gozaimasu and shared a side of french fries with nori and wasabi mayo and it was too much for us. But everything tasted good. The place is not so big so depending on the time of your visit, you might not get a table.

I use to think all burgers were the same...until I went to this place! It's a nice spin from your traditional burger! These burgers were huge- I was full after 4 bites! We had the Ninja, Samurai, and Ohayou. Ninja was the best in my opinion. Samurai was really yummy too, you'll love it if you like mixing sweet and savory flavors. The Ohayou tasted like more of a traditional burger. We also made each burger a meal by adding a drink, fries, and dipping sauce. The total ended up being about $45 for 3 people. Also, if you get some nori fries be prepared to bring a mirror to get those nori flakes off your teeth! The curry fries with curry mayo was my favorite. Wasabi mayo was also pretty good. I also love their tshirts. Maybe i'll get one next time and wear it to the gym :P

Insanely ginormous NINJA DELUXE is just one of many large sized burgers here. Go crazy if you dare. Monkey killed the tender, juicy tonkatsu all in one sitting. Really no need for cheese, as the meat is what really counts and what fills your mouth. Bring your appetite. Plan on taking a walk afterward. Wife could not leave the NORI fries behind. Golden, delicious fries flaked with seaweed. Yum. Don't forget the KINAKO & BLACK SESAME SHAKE! Thick, creamy... awesome dessert on the way home. Monkey can't wait to return for the TOFU BURGER. and shake. ...and

I can't express how satisfying I find eating here to be. In addition to how delicious the food is, the service is incredibly friendly and warm, and the background music is quite diverse and always groovy. Today I had the Ninja Classic, their simplest burger offering, and it blows all other burgers in the city out of the water. Paired with a green tea shake, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Cool & quirky little hole in the wall place. I loved looking at all the Japanese and anime inspired art and memorabilia on the walls. Their burgers are definitely different from anything I've ever encountered before. Unusual and interesting combination of flavors. I tried the Wabi Wasabi burger and the wasabi mayo and pepperjack cheese mixed with the tonkatsu sauce was such a nice flavor. The burger was enormous! Their prices are expensive and the katsu style sandwiches are too much like eating a heart attack. It was a cool, memorable experience, but I think one burger is enough to last me for a lifetime. I definitely recommend this place simply for the experience.

These reviews and stars really do represent this place!! My bf and I came here on a Friday we ordered the Ninja burger, Katsu Curry burger, nori fries, curry fries, and a green tea milkshake!! I know we're pigs! Haha. I really recommend all the items esp the curry fries. They have a good selection of sauces for your fries as well! We chose the Japanese mayo and the spicy mayo both awesome! The staff is friendly. I would've given this place give stars hadn't it be the open kitchen view and the flea flying around the eating area. The parking is small and so is the restaurant but it's awesome here! I know where to go to get my katsu fixin now!!

***JAPANESE STYLE BURGER*** Dope concept at Katsu Burger, Japanese style burger coated in tempura and panko bread crumbs then fried. Nothing to look at from the outside but once you get inside the small spot, the burgers and sides sell themselves....that GOOD! Choose your type of patty: beef, pork, chicken or tofu. Each burger is topped with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, red onion and pickles. Some specialty burgers come with bacon, choice of cheese, egg, and sauces. Pick your sauce: Japanese mayo, tonkatsu sauce, curry mayo, teriyaki sauce, wasabi mayo, siriracha sauce, spicy mayo, and miso honey mustard sauce. Prices range from $6.95 to $9.95. And you can add an egg or double it for $0.89. If you are super duper hungry, get the Mt. Fuji, which includes one of each of the meat patties, three slices of cheese, bacon, pineapple, wasabi mayo, spicy mayo and tonkatsu sauce for $15.95 I ordered: *Ninja Deluxe - (pork patty, cheddar cheese, bacon, Japanese mayo, and tonkatsu sauce) $8.95 *Katsu Curry - (Pork cutlet, American cheese, curry mayo, and tonkatsu sauce) $7.95 *Side of Nori Fries - seaweed seasoning on the shoe string fries. I really like it and the cute take out box made to fit the fries. *Banzai Bites - mini chicken breast pieces. Goes great with the miso honey mustard sauce. *Handmade Vanilla milkshake. Sweet. I will try the Green Tea Milkshake next time. Both burgers were TASTY, the breading crispy and each was HUGE! Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Some food just taste better fried! Super glad I was able to come here on my cheat day or Fatty day because this place is worth it! Highly Recommend! Tip: Parking lot area is small and indoor seating is limited so better ordered take out.

The other day I found myself in the heart of South Seattle's industrial district looking for some brewing supplies for my Kombucha, when I started feeling the pangs of hunger. Well, feeling adventurous, I pulled out my phone and did a quick yelp search of the area. Quite a few things came up, but they were mostly teriyaki places, which I wasn't in the mood for at that time. Although, I will be going back to check some of the out. Anyway, I digress... What did come up is Katsu Burger. Now, I love pork, fried food, and burgers. So, I figured that I had hit the trifecta. Well, I did for the most part. :-) At Katsu Burger, you can get anything from your standard beef burger to the fried pork specialty sauce laden, asian inspired ninja deluxe burger that I had. It was very tasty, and I will be going back to try more. What I really like though, and it gets 5 stars from me, is their Nori (seaweed) Fries. Imagine thinly cut french fries with nori seasoning sprinkled on top, with a host of dipping sauces...mmm....

Finally made a trip to Katsu Burger. Ohayou Gozaimasu! Beef patty, bacon, egg...perfect combination. The burger presentation was awesome, it was wrapped perfect, juices/cheese/insides weren't an overflowing mess, burger stayed together nicely and it was big. Taste quality all thumbs up. The only thing was the bun...I think they can find something better but that will not prevent me from 5 stars and I will be going back. Nori fries were a great touch. I recommend ordering those with the burger. For the side sauce, the spicy mayo was good. Tasty with a nice kick in it. Staff was friendly/nice/helpful with suggestions. I already know what I want for my next visit, how soon can I go???? Seriously check this joint out!

Very good idea to have tonkatsu in sandwich. Even hunberger is deep fried too, I think it's funny and cool. Yes it is a deep fried Panko batter cutlett place, low cal healthy people shouldn't go there. This is a perfect place when you want to pig outIt's good sometime. Just like McDonalds in Japan, you can choose how you want to flavor the French fries, that's right McDonalds in Japan does that and since the owner here is a native Japanese, I think that's how he got this idea from, glad he did. Displays on the wall are very creative, many talented art piece are there and it makes this place is a fun place to hung out. Differently five stars!

After eating at Mashiko and thoroughly enjoying my experience there, I knew I had to check out Katsu Burger. IT WAS AMAZING. Had the ninja deluxe with nori fries and the sesame milkshake (and skipped dinner that night!). The katsu was delicious and importantly, not dry at all. The crunch of the katsu patty, the sweet tang of tonkatsu sauce, and MMM bacon ... I'm salivating just thinking about it, but sadly it will have to be a "sometimes" food for me. This place is very small (there's only about six tables or so), so maybe not the best place to come with a large group.

The concept is cool but the execution is pretty terrible. I opted to get my katsu burger without mayo and it ended up extremely dry and scratchy. There was too much bread (ended up taking the top bun off because it was just cold and dry), too much overcooked meat, and too little taste. The place is really small so it takes awhile for seating to open up when they're busy. They deep-fry their burgers to order as well so it also takes awhile to get your food. The people behind the counter are very friendly. However, I probably wouldn't come again.

I was super stoked to try this place and really liked the idea of an asian inspired burger joint. With that said, it was just aiiiiight to me. For me, it was more of a fun novelty experience and think everyone who tries it will have a different point of view. It's not universally good or bad, just wasn't really my thang.

KEIKO IS AWESOME - she helped us with our order as it was our first time here. We came here around 2:30 so there was not much of a wait. It's a pretty small establishment, but a great find. Their menu has a great selection of katsu burgers to choose from and also a few sides. I got a green tea milkshake as well and they are definitely not stingy on their serving. The drink was spilling out of the cup as I put the straw in. :) I got the ohayu burger that had nearly everything on it - bacon, fried egg, cabbage, and other basics. It was so big, I could barely fit it in my mouth. It is definitely MESSY but totally worth it. We also got a side of nori fries and it was really nice seasoning. The fries come in this chinese take out container and it's definitely quite a huge serving for one person. It also came with a choice of dipping sauce and we got curry mayo. It was light, but also tasty. I really enjoyed the sauce a lot. I was completely full after everything. If you're starving, definitely try this place out! Nothing reminds you of your own mortality quite like Katsu Burger. I could feel my arteries blocking up, but that only encouraged me to eat faster [so I could at least finish my sandwich before my body gave up]. I survived, this time, but if I hadn't, at least I would have some insight to what I was going to be missing in heaven, first [I think it's safe to say I'm going the other direction, probably in a handbasket]. Everyone here is super sweet and helpful, but I went in knowing exactly what I wanted. Ohayou Gozaimasu [I'm a sucker for egg on my burger] Fries [standard because my boyfriend hates curry and I didn't want to risk him disliking nori] with their housemade Sriracha mayo Green tea milkshake My boyfriend had the Godzilla burger with bacon and wasabi mayo for dipping, and my wifey Katrina N. had the Tokyo Classic with fries and curry mayo. They were all so. damn. good. If the line hadn't been nearly out the door by the time we were leaving, I would have bought one of their adorable t-shirts.

After reading all the reviews, I drive about 1 hr to eat this burger. Too bad, it was not that impressive. The burger is Japanese style only because they fried the beef pattern. The sauce is good but the overall taste is just soso. The green tea milk shake is expensive. The beef one is better than chicken burger. Chicken burger is not juicy enough. I will recommend heat the bread as well to make the burger hotter.

Everyone knows that New Years Resolutions don't actually start until the 2nd. You are usually too hung over on the 1st to make good decisions, or, maybe that's just me? When I finally got myself out of bed at noon, I just wanted some grease to settle my stomach. Katsu Burger had been on my radar for quite some time, but getting from N. Kirkland to Georgetown is pretty much impossible in every day traffic. The idea of everything being deep-fried didn't really appeal to my semi-healthy boyfriend, but after showing him some pictures, we headed over here. We both ordered the Ninja deluxe, chicken for him and pork for me. Some Nori fries with spicy mayo. All of it was super tasty. The nori fries were addicting, and I am a sucker for spicy mayo on pretty much anything, especially fries though. The panko breading on the pork cutlet was perfect and I loved the slaw. Nothing was mind blowing, which is a good thing, since this place is so far away and I am trying to make better eating habits for 2013, but I will definitely come back here on a random Holiday when traffic isn't a nightmare.

Had to try this place after reading the rave reviews. I went with my friend on a Monday night. I ordered the burger with jalepenos on it. It was really good but the temperature was not very hot. I hope the meat was just not sitting there. However, the curry fries I ordered were WAY too salty. I almost had to scrape the seasoning off. And the sauces that went with it were not needed cause the fries already had enough salt. Service was nice but food was meh. I feel like Katsu Burger had an off day the day I went. I will try it again and I hope the fries will be better.

I go here when I want to punish with my body with grease. Katsu burger puts japanese katsu (pork, beef or chicken) in a burger bun and tops it with japanese-like toppings. Since I lack good judgement or restraint, I went with the Ohayou Gozaimasu burger which has staggering, artery-clogging list of toppings including bacon, fried egg, tonkatsu sauce and japanese mayo. Not a good option especially if you want to be productive afterwards. It was snoozeville for me afterwards! The 'mega burgers' basically add a another patty on top which makes for a very heavy meal! The fries are skinny with three flavors to choose from, nori, sea salt or curry. Went with the nori flavor which was subtle but tasty. Make the trip down to G-town to check this place out!

This place is great! The panko crust is what makes these burgers great! You can get veggie options as well. The unique burgers are great such as the the spicy Tamago Kick. It is one very juicy deep fried beef patty along with a fried egg, Sriracha sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, tonkatsu sauce, and crisp veggies. Don't forget the awesome fries.

Katsu Burger is delicious and innovative. I've tried several of their burgers and pork katsu sandwiches. The buns are fresh and my favorite part of the burger is the array of condiments (katsu sauce, custom mayo, crunchy cabbage, etc). My only criticism would be that the delicious fries are occasionally excessively salty. Love the dipping sauces.

This was on our try list from awhile ago. Sunday night came and no one wanted to cook, so we headed off to Katsu Burger. This is an interesting and original concept. They have beef, pork, and chicken patties all fried and topped with goodness. Our first time we had to decide what to order and as we never like things how others do, we had to special order every sandwich. This took a long time. There seemed to be some struggle to write down every detail. I was concerned that the sandwiches would not turn out, but they were fine. We also ordered a few sides of fries: curry fries and original. Those who had the breaded beef said it was awesome (actually that was everybody but me.) Apparently the breaded beef itself was awesome. We had a couple different sandwiches with different sauces. The sauces were all quite good. And the toppings really added to the burger. Excellent! I had the teriyaki chicken, which was good. These are big sandwiches and just one is too much. None of us were able to finish our whole sandwich. The curry fries were not that good. I want to try the nory fries next time we go. As for the environment, the seating area was very small. If we lived closer, take-out would be the best option. The music was kinda loud and rather random.

This is my new place to get a burger fix. It's the perfect combination of a Japanese style burger and satisfies all my cravings in one. When I saw this open up in Georgetown, I was ecstatic because it's so close to where I live. In fact, it is right across the street from one of my favorite teriyaki places. Parking is tight since the place is squeezed in the corner of a small building. I suggest you park nearby and walk there or take the bus since you may very well not find any parking; depending on the time of day. The staff seemed very friendly, or more like one lady in particular. Maybe she is the manager or owner? In any case, she had a nice cheerful welcome and even brought my tray to me when my order was ready. The place felt quite welcoming, although a tad small with few tables. After staring at the menu for a bit, I went with the Godzilla Attack because it had beef and jalapenos. The patty is HUGE. The burger itself seemed huge! I tried to squish it down so I could bite into it but that wasn't happening. The burger was cooked perfectly, nice light crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. There was just the right amount of toppings aside from the sauce, I just wanted a little more tonkatsu sauce on it and it'd be perfect. I almost finished the burger but was too full from that and the nori fries. Which by the way are also very yummy, especially with the curry mayo. My experience was great. Loved the food, service and prices I could bear with. Good quality in every way, definitely a top hit on my list.

Katsu Burger came straight out of some inter-dimensional Kaiju portal; accessible, fun, tasty and spicy! A Gojira-gourmet dream of American J-Pop fans, who understand the subtleties of Asia and the humble comfort of American fare. Go and be amazed at this fun and savory take on your typical burger joint.

Fitting that Katsu Burger is located in Georgetown in a building at a divergent intersection there. Appropriate because the burgers here for the most part are a mix of east and west. The location is out of the way. It is also a bit hard to turn into the parking lot since it is practically located at a traffic light. Most of the buildings in the area are industrial spaces which is probably why the restaurant is open on weekdays only. It draws in an interesting crowd. At lunch, it draws workers in the area along with adventurous foodies. The burgers have universal appeal it seems. There is a large map with pins where diners can mark where in the world they are from. Several point to far-flung locales. Though none (thus far) from Timbuktu. There are a couple things to note about the burgers. You can substitute the protein at no extra charge if for instance you prefer chicken in your Tokyo Classic instead of beef. The other thing is that the burgers are prepared katsu style which means it is breaded and fried. I decided to get the Katsu curry burger ($7.65) and got the Ichi-Ban meal addition ($3.15) which includes your choice of fries, dipping sauce and a drink. I went with the nori seasoned fries with curry mayo sauce and a can of green tea. BTW, they don't have any fountain drinks here so the drinks are canned unless you want tap water instead. The ambiance here is relatively no frills, though there is some Japanese pop art adorning the walls. There is just a handful of tables. Probably only enough chairs for 15 people max. It was crowded at lunch, but fortunately I got in before the rush. If you are eating solo here, don't be surprised if people ask to share the table. The katsu curry burger contains a fried pork cutlet with Swiss cheese, curry mayo and tonkatsu sauce. The burger is quite large. I did enjoy the burger. Though it does suffer a little from moistness seeping into the breading. I find tonkatsu to be best when the pork is a bit fatty and crispy. The pork was actually more of the lean variety. The bun tasted fine, but it seemed to be a little undersized since the burger is hefty and packed with ingredients. Hence, I had to hold the wrapper in my hand while eating the burger the whole time. I liked the nori seasoned fries. These are thin sliced. The nori flavor is a different take on this classic that I enjoy. The curry mayo sauce went well with the fries. I do have a few suggestions that would include perhaps opening on a Saturday. I was able to find a day when I am off on a weekday, but it is a bit burdensome to get over to Georgetown during the work week usually. Also, I know that Katsu Burger was opened by Mashiko's sushi chef. I would love it if that somehow seeped into the menu here. I had a great pork burger earlier this year at MOS Burger (fast food chain) in Japan made with a rice bun! I think that would take Katsu Burger to the next level in regards to its uniqueness on the Seattle burger joint map. Katsu Burger is definitely worth a try if you are looking for a different burger experience and an example of Asian Fusion done right!

I ordered the Ninja burger and was unimpressed. The patty was cooked decent but the rest of the burger was bland. The staff was friendly and the decorations were cool, but I was expecting more from the food. Expect a long wait regardless of how busy the place is.

Hands down one of the best burgers I have ever had! I keep meaning to try others on the menu but the classic is so tasty! Can't describe the way they cook it, so go in and discover this for yourself! Parking is scarce so don't go anywhere near lunch time.

When I think of Katsu Burger, three words immediately come to mind. -INNOVATIVE -QUIRKY -GODZILLA!!!!!! There are multiple options on the burger menu that you will never find anywhere else. Katsu Burger grills your meat of choice and then adds katsu style breading to it before frying. Then they add a wonderful combination of american and japanese influenced toppings that will BLOW YOUR MIND. There are also 3 different flavor options for your fries, coupled with your choice of their many sauces that takes asian fusion to another level. Did I mention that their customer service is phenomenal? Don't hesitate to check out this soon to be SODO staple. You will become a repeat customer faster than you can say, "Godzilla Attack!!!"

The burgers are HUGE! I shared with a friend the katsu curry burger. Ordered the nori fries - I wasn't that impressed but my friend devoured them! The green tea milkshake was also very filling as well too...and also HUGE! Need to go back to try other food items.

This place is fantastic. It is a little spendy for a typical burger joint. The thing though is that Katsu is anything BUT your typical burger joint. The food quality, flavor combos, and portion size are top notch. The staff are AMAZING. Super friendly and willing to help you if you don't know what you want. I love the chicken Samurai with curry fries and wasabi mayo dipping sauce.

I had the Ninja Deluxe burger (pork katsu, bacon and cheddar), my sister had the Katsu Curry (pork katsu topped with Japanese curry sauce), then we shared nori fries with wasabi mayo and a pineapple & green tea milk shake. The burgers are massive! When our order came, warning signals went off in my head and I swore I heard someone yell, "Gojirra!" You get your money's worth not only in the portions but also in the taste. Fried katsu with just enough sauce to keep the palette well lubricated will maintaining the integrity of the crispy breading. The nori fries were good and the wasabi mayo packed a great kick. The pineapple & green tea milkshake was a special menu item and it was definitely special. Hurry before it's no longer available! Katsu Burger is starting to become a more well known fixture in the Seattle burger scene and I can even see them going head-to-head with the other burger behemoths. I came here feeling super hungry and left so full, food was coming out of my eyes. So happy! I have to go lie down now...

The service is really good. The fries and sauces are awesome. This is hole in the wall place, so don't expect fancy. Turns out I am not a fan of a breaded burger on a bun. Quality ingredients, though. As I mentioned: fast, enthusiastic service!

I usually get the Godzilla when I come here with the nori fries. I LOVE this place. Definitely not big enough for groups but the portions are big enough for 2 to eat. It's located in an awkward road so you gotta go around the back then loop back over but it's not hard to find. It's near georgetown in west seattle.

When I heard about Katsu Burger, I was like, nah bro, deep fried beef patties sound disgusting. Then I heard they had pork and chicken... Now I'm like, yeah man, this place is legit. It starts with the burger construction: the crispy meat patty is separated from the sauce by the cabbage and veg, so each bite is on point. The meat is fried nicely and the sauce keeps things moist and flavorful. The burger and fries portions are good, cuz no one wants to order two burgers to get full like an obese (yeah, I just used that word as a noun). The fries with nori are better than expected, although the nori doesn't impart a lot of flavor. The fries are long and crispy, plus you get to pick a fancy fusion sauce, but stick with the wasabi mayo. My only two requests: lower the price a tad and toast the buns.

This place is awesome! I can't believe I didn't know about this place until recently. It's located south end of the 4th Ave in Seattle, You can't miss because they have a huge ass sign. The parking lot is pretty tight, but you can still find parking. Now the food - The hamburgers are HUGE. We ordered Ninja Deluxe and Samurai, both of them are great, nori (Seaweed) fries are great and you must try their Bonzai Bites!! Next time I am going to try something else and add fried egg in my burger! You could spend up to $15 a person with drink, but you get what you paid for. Imaging how much you would pay for good tonkatsu at the Japanese restaurant. It's good deal for good food that we can't get it everywhere. I would like to go there all the time when I am near Seattle.

Words can't even describe how amazing this place is. The burger is huge, you can split it with a friend or save it all to yourself. The combination of a hamburger with exotic toppings is genius! This is really a hidden gem, it's unexpectedly in the middle of no mans land in a corner of a strip mall. Whatever you do splurge and get a shake!

OMG IT WAS SO GOOD! We split the Godzilla Attack and Wabi Wasabi and got an order of nori fries. The fries were okay, I'd like to try the other flavors (heard curry is good), but the burgers were amazing. Big, juicy, and full of flavor. The sauce shone through especially with the wasabi mayo and the Godzilla had spicy jalapeños and crunchy coleslaw - a real treat with the fried burger patty ^_^ I can't wait to go back and try the other burgers! Update: My friend and I went back again and tried the NInja Deluxe and Samurai Select and got an order of curry fries. The curry fries were way better than the nori fries. I love that the staff is accommodating and they never have a problem cutting our burgers in half. It does take a bit of time for the food, so definitely not too good for a time crunch, but it's been well worth it both times.

Kat-tsu ba-ga....that's the extent of my Japanese-ish accent...sorry about that... While I did dig the vibe and the place, the burg just didn't produce any mouth-watering-organismic moments.(Yes, "organ" since their burger was the size of a small hand tool). The bun was soggy, the patty wasn't fully cooked, and while I really wanted to like the place, I guess I'll have to give them a second try...at a later date. It wasn't really uber busy during the lunch crowd rush, meal came out within a reasonable time frame. We opted to take it to go as the place was packed and no one was leaving anytime soon. Our order was fired up and by the time we got it back to our lunchroom at work, the burger was lukewarm at best and we were only 5 minutes away! So the fries were solid for that I'll go back. The burg's katsu sauce was a bit over whelming but the entire idea was interesting in serving up the burg "katsu" style. I'll be back to give them a second chance as GODZILLA eats here, and well, if you know Godzilla then you know, he's a Golden Yelper and knows what's good...

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time... How bad can deep fried beef patties be. :) The combinations are very creative and work very well. Looking forward to coming back for the Japanese flavored milkshakes (green tea or black sesame). Very friendly service as well!

It's in Georgetown, so the ambiance is minimal (think lunch teriyaki restaurant), but the service is good and the place is clean. You have your choice of pork, chicken, or beef katsu patties in a variety of burger combinations. We chose: *Samurai Select: beef, bacon, pineapple, wasabi mayo *Godzilla Attack: beef, pepper jack, jalapenos, spicy mayo *Nori fries with wasabi mayo and curry mayo My preference was the Godzilla attack because of the layers of flavors and the zing of the jalapenos. The fries were crispy and sprinkled with nori, which enhanced their appearance, but didn't have much flavor. The curry mayo was really good though. Be prepared for a heavy meal (with the battered patties) that makes you want to nap afterward. It's definitely a unique experice worth trying.

Three-and-a-half stars, really. Don't let the association with Mashiko sushi fool you, this place is an out-and-out fast food joint. Also, katsu burgers serves actual tonkatsu-style burgers (breaded and deep fried), something I should have expected but didn't. This stuff is tasty, but hits you like a sledgehammer. This is not exactly my type of food, but I enjoyed what I could manage of my dinner. Great staff.

"A life changing experience" is what my buddy R called it. He's Hawaiian and is always enamored by asian food surrounded by tasty carbs. I was introduced to this place by another friend who texted me a photo of the Mt. Fuji (which is both as heart clogging as it is awesome). Nori fries? Curry katsu burger? Kinako shake? Um, yes yes and yes. Crispy katsu chops like the kind you dream about and wake up salivating to. Still not done binging on carbs? Grab some pocky and hi-chew to go!

Is it just me, or is Seattle becoming a hotspot for Ultimate Burger Joints? Yes, the Seattle area, which brought you Grunge, 747s, overpriced coffee beverages, and Microsoft seems to be a hotbed of another trend: indie gourmet burger joints. Joining such luminaries as Red Mill, Burger Madness, Zippy's, and Lunchbox Laboratory comes Katsu Burger, the latest creation by sustainable sushi impresario Hajime Sato of West Seattle's Mashiko. Chef Hajime is quite possibly the most exciting Seattle chef you've never heard of. His culinary style is playful and irreverent, but with a clear passion for quality. At his West Seattle sushi restaurant Mashiko, you'll enjoy Japanese cuisine with some truly unique flourishes. It is clear that he created Katsu Burger to address another passion, the classic American burger. At Katsu Burger, you are treated to an meal where East collides with West like two Japanese bullet trains head-on on the same track. You can choose your protein (hamburger, pork cutlet, chicken, tofu), breaded in panko and deep fried, then assembled in different Asian-inspired combinations. The flavor profiles are astonsihing, and even side dishes like french fries and cole slaw are given unique twists. Two things to remember: all the burgers are a bit big, so bring an appetite or plan on sharing. This place is a bit spendy for a burger joint; a burger+side+drink will run you about $15, give or take, but given the creativity of the menu and the quality, you are still getting good value for the money. Katsu Burger also benefits from a better-than-average staff, which is young and attractive, but very competent, and thankfully lacking of the 'too-hip-for-you' attitude you sometimes see in places like this (see my review of Uptown Espresso). In spite of it's 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' location, Katsu Burger is already enjoying a good flow of business, and you will not be dissapointed if you check it out! So why only 4 stars? I thought my burger patty was a little over-fried, or the oil may have needed filtering. Also, it would be really nifty if you could get a cold beer here like Burger Madness up the street. But don't let this put you off; you need to check these guys out!

This is in the burgers and Japanese category, which don't necessarily go together. But, Katsu burger makes it work! I'm veggie, so I had mine with tofu, which was really good! A great combination of flavors. And the fries!! 12 spice and nori, with the different sauces!! The one drawback? It's heavy. I mean, burgers and fries. You're not doing your diet any favors here. So, like Cookie Monster says, this is a sometimes food.

You may want to venture out to try this place at least once. Katsu Burger has good, fresh, quality food but Japanese seasonings on American food are odd. I do like their menu selection, location and the friendliness of their staff. I will be back and give it another go. You do get A LOT of food for around $12 (combo) I am a fan of the wasabi mayo.

I know burgers are supposed to be the star here at Katsu, but I think the banzai bites stole the show! Banzai bites are flavorful breaded pieces of chicken breast (which are sliced off the bird and not a processed meat like, say, a Chicken McNugget). And at $2.95 for a side of the bites, they are a great value! Pair the bites with curry (major yum!) or wasabi mayo dipping sauce and now you're really talkin'! Actually, there are many different dipping sauces, including tonkatsu. You walk into a cutely decorated restaurant with the top half of the walls painted sherbet orange and the bottom half lilac purple. The gal at the counter taking orders was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There's several tables, so you can eat here if you like. In addition to the multitude of burgers, and spiced fries (which are seasoned with bits of seaweed), are chicken sandwich options. I ordered the Wabi Wasabi burger ($7.55) sans the jack cheese. Be forewarned, while you can add additional patties to your burger, if you do, in all likelihood will not be able to fit the titan burger into your mouth because it is so tall - a one patty burger barely fits! I need to get this out of the way, but the hamburger buns need to be 86ed, and pronto. They are really dry with an unpleasant grainy texture. I've seen these buns before, and it was at a small but very popular burger joint that may have moved, but used to be just off Delridge Way in West Seattle. The contents inside the bun are much better that the bun. Who woulda thunk that shredded cabbage makes a good burger topper, but it does! In addition to the cabbage was a slice of tomato, red onion, pickle and the panko-crusted patty. Flavors were good, but I did not detect any wasabi. So don't worry about any wasabi in the burger blowing your nostrils to kingdom come! As other reviewers have noted, the easiest way to find Katsu Burger is to look for the intersection of East Marginal Way and 4th Avenue South - right across the street from neon-lit Matt's Famous Chili Dogs.

WHOAHH! Got the Godzilla burger and sea salt fries to go on a 30 degree day and walked them home. Even slightly cold, the burgers and fries where amazing! The place was crazy busy when I went on New Years Eve! It's pretty small inside and is decorated with all kinds of Japanese craziness! The folks working there are really nice as well. Will totally be back to try it hot off the grill!

A fun "burger" worth the visit... A word of advice, if you're gonna bother driving more than 5 miles to get here (like I did), do NOT get distracted by the beef burgers. Good burgers, although not on every corner, is not difficult to find, but you won't find another katsu burger on this continent. You should definitely have the Ninja, a GINORMOUS layered katsu creation with bacon that is worthy of the restaurant namesake. The fries are amazingly good, even when they're soggy (which I've never experienced before - good soggy fried), but INSANELY salty. If you're not a huge salter, you should definitely ask them to go easy. Thumbs up, but won't be a regular... too hard to get to for me, but for those of you who are within easy travel distance, definitely try it.

I'm writing this sloppy review...kinda like my face while I was eating my burger here. It's a review in a nutshell while I still have all these delicious emotions running through my belly... Katsu Burger has a great concept going and I see a delicious future ahead of them. My experience here was like when I first had loco moco and thought, "Why didn't I think of eating beef patties with rice?!" Except instead it was the other way around. As the name is called, they have added a twist to their burgers by using patties covered in tempura/panko and using slightly Asian-food oriented sauces such as wasabi mayo or tonkatsu sauce. Today, I had what they called the ohayou gozaimasu (translated to "good morning") burger. It was definitely one that stood out for me because I loveeeee fried eggs in my burger. Unlike your typical fried egg and bacon burger, the patty was prepared katsu style and also had shredded cabbage instead of lettuce and tonkatsu sauce. The burger was so big that I actually had to cut it in half to eat it without having it fall apart. Portion-wise, I'd say you're looking at a typical gourmet-size burger, so you definitely want to come with an appetite, which I coincidentally did...not that I was preparing for it or anything. Along with the Asian-food-inspired burgers, they not only sell regular fries, but seasoned fries as well. Right now, you have a choice between nori fries or curry fries. I tried the nori fries with the wasabi mayo and they were fresh and tasty. And finally, I ended my coma-inducing meal with a green tea milkshake. Yes, a green tea milkshake. I'm still working on said milkshake as I type this review right now. Oh my yumness! The place itself is pretty clean and small. Parking might be an issue if you have to "turn left" to reach Katsu Burger because it's located in the corner of a weird, bendy street (you'll know what I mean if you go there). Overall, I was excited to hear about this place and was not disappointed over my first experience here. The place is different, but who says different is bad!? I can't wait to go again and break my diet! P.S. Shout out to Johnny the Wang, currently residing in SF right before Katsu Burger just opened, but making me aware of their existence. You're a sad panda, but I have burger all over my face. I hope you're happy!

I got the Katsu Curry Burger & Nori Fries w/Wasabi Mayo. The first few bites of the sandwich were money. However, I quickly got tired and confused with the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. They didn't go that well with the curry sauce. Plus they made the bun soggy. But the cutlet with the curry sauce and cheese were pretty damn good. So took all the veggies off the sandwich and it was much better. The nori fries are very good, but they are even better with the wasabi mayo. Tried a co-worker's curry fries and are were pretty good as well.. Next go around I will try a beef patty rather than the pork cutlet. Service was great!

Man, this place is ridiculous: Juicy, flavorful Katsu-style, deep fried beef hamburger patties. Fries seasoned with nori flakes. And the Mt. Fuji burger - something only a python could get its mouth around. The food is creative, flavorful and is making my mouth water as I write about it. My wife and I visited on a lazy Monday afternoon and were blown away by the Godzilla Attack (beef patty, jalepenos, pepperjack cheese, spicy Japanese mayo, and more) and my wife had the Ninja Classic (Katsu-style pork cutlet, cheddar cheese, bacon, and more). And yes - the fries and dipping sauces are as good as advertised. The burgers are huge, delicious, oh man. I can't wait to return.

There are days when my masterfully trained ninja palette of taste demands cuisine that isn't rice or fish. On those days, I naturally go to the greatest burger joint in all of Seattle: Katsu Burger! You can't even get a burger like this in Dimension X -- and those crazy bastards have EVERYTHING. Seriously, food you don't even want to smell. I mean, they have talking brains with tentacles. Exactly what do you think a blathering brain eats? You don't want it. Trust me, I'm a villain. Katsu Burger on the other hand is a feast of Japanese inspired burgers with eggs, bacon, tonkatsu sauce, spicy mayo, wasabi, mayo, pepper jack -- you name it! -- all on meat (or tofu for you turtle-loving hippies) prepared katsu style. Top that! I challenge you! Seriously, I challenge you. If you defeat me, I'll buy you some curry fries and you can win a date with Bebop. He's a big softie and loves to cuddle. You must try the Mt. Fuji burger! There's a reason why they call it the Mt. Fuji. It's bigger than the Technodrome! Beef patty, pork cutlet, chicken breast, American cheese, pepper jack, cheddar, fried egg, bacon, wasabi mayonnaise, spicy mayonnaise, and tonkatsu sauce! Add some curry fries and a green tea shake and you will make all of Nippon weep at your glorious meal. Bring a friend because there's little chance you'll conquer this burger mountain solo. Watch out for the free magnets, though. One of them was stuck on the back of my helmet for a week! Krang kept laughing at me every time I would leave the room. He will pay for his insolence! 5 out of 5 shurikens.

Alright, pretty darn good. Definitely worth a try for all you wondering palates out there. The burger was pretty amazing, though a bit too big that it was unmanageable to eat without getting food parcels and sauce around your mouth. At one point, I forewent putting down the burger to use the napkin and just persevered forward with a dirty mouth because it was costing me too much time to put the burger down, wipe, and pick it back up (it's a two-hands kinda burger). In any event, my favorite was actually the banzai bites, or, basically, chicken strips. Perfectly fried so that the meat wasn't overdone, hard to do with breast meat. I'm going back again for the banzai bites and fries.

Rounding down on 4.5 stars. Disclaimer: no matter where I go, if the establishment I'm reviewing is playing Elvis Presley tunes, they automatically get 3 stars...SO, when I walked into Katsu Burger and was greeted with tunes from the King (and continued to be- they were playing a great mix of young and older Elvis tunes), I knew this was gonna be a good experience. (Despite this, I've rated Katsu without the "Elvis Factor"- rest assured, it's four-star worthy.) Fried panko-covered pork cutlet burgers, and curry fries? Boo-yeah! Walking in, I felt a little overwhelmed. The place is on the smaller side, and the menu is huge- it probably takes up one tenth of the surface area of the joint- so, I had to back up and study, as I was unfamiliar with some of the sauces and what-not. I asked some folks finishing up who looked very satisfied, what to get and they both recommended the pork. So, I went with the pork: a fried pork cutlet, dipped in tempura, rolled in panko and fried to perfection- placed between two substantial buns, topped with a napa slaw and japanese specialty sauces- YES!!! This is something that I'm still craving- I have purposely not gone back, because I would say this is the type of burger you eat 4-5 times a year, but you want to eat every day. The fries are shoe-string style and are covered in a curry powder that is outstanding. I thought the fries were a little stale- they may have been sitting a while, but the flavor was there. My suggestion: make the trip to G-town and get yo burger on Nippon style! Parking is iffy- and the place can get packed- real quick, so make it down to early lunch if you can. panko.

2 things you MUST realize: they burgers are ENORMOUS, and they are FRIED. Yes, yes, thus the katsu, but they don't make that completely abundantly clear. If you love fried chicken, and always thought it needed just a bit more meat; or if you love chicken fried steak, but thought, hey, what if this meat were ground up; then this is the place for you. The burgers are Japanese influenced (think: funky mayos, wasabi and/or ginger flavoring) and good. I wouldn't quite say great, but good. The fries and milkshakes, on the other hand: they're great. Overall, it was neat experience, but more like something I'm glad to have experiences once, don't know if I need to go again any time soon...

omg... as soon as my tokyo tower came out, it was just all "wtf did i just order?!?!" it was practically like a dick's skyscraper burger on steroids... instead of a tower full of electronic gidgets, rice fields and japanese schoolgirls... i got a tower full of sesame buns, shredded lettuce, goopy sauce, not one but TWO deep-fried (too wet for "katsu") beef patties and melted cheese slices... *checks pulse* for what it was (and it was mostly for the experience) it was decent; not much flavor was translated, atleast to me. this thing was, yes, huge (several centimeters high) and---OH, I forgot, I think it had the b-word in it. i mos def wanna try the other burgers and pass on this ridiculous beast. the nori fries were great and that curry mayo was unique and tasty to combo with. i totally dig the color theme and all the japanese decor; the variety is truly unique and interesting.

This was our first and last time trying this place and we saw they were up for best burger. CHECK YOU BURGERS! They didn't get mine or my husbands burger correct, leaving off bacon on one and then leaving off onion on another and keeping the tomato on. The fries were also over done, chewy and cold. I would not vote this best burger in seattle. Even if they had the order correctly the patties are breaded and then deep fried. It was like eating a bland chicken fried steak and the texture felt wrong to have between two buns with toppings. The only semi-decent thing about the meal was the curry dipping sauce for the fries, but that one thing alone is not enough to bump this up to 2 stars. My husband and father-in-law said. "Even if they gave us a free meal for our bad experience we would take them up on it."

Yeah this place is pretty cool. The service and food was both excellent and the price made it even better. They have a really cool staff working here and they make sure everything is good with their customers. I ordered a burger here and cannot think of the name, but it was really good, huge, and messy, an awesome combination. One thing that does stick in my mind is the fries...the FREAKING DELICIOUS fries!! My wife ordered the curry fries and I ordered the nori, and both were cooked perfectly, crispy and flavorful. One negative thing about here is definitely the size of dining area, its really small, but other than that, I really don't have anything else bad to say.

Heading to Katsu to introduce other office-mates to the goodness is starting to be a regular work event. Deep-fried burgers. Yes, a little extreme, but if you're not having fun with food, why bother? My mouth would love to eat here every day, however the remainder of my body would not appreciate it as much. Every burger has a default: beef, chicken, or pork cutlet. It's awesome that you can substitute one for another freely. Nice touch. The sides are excellent, as well. Curry fries? Nori fries? Wasabi slaw? Yes, yes and yes. Hope you like your shakes thick and delicious.

This place is amazing and pretty hole in the wall American-Japanese style. I've only visited once due to the odd location and super limited parking. Pretty out of the way, but sure is hell worth it for the special occasion. PRO TIP: Try the Nori fries, but make sure you have someone to share your food with. Seriously, the portions seem to be made for two people sharing.

I agree with Tammy-- my husband and I were desperately sad when Katsu closed, and I called him ecstatic when I saw that it had re-opened. We went back for his birthday earlier this week and I was pleased to see that everything was nearly the same. The burger was smaller than I recall, but otherwise the nori fries, wasabi dip, and the black sesame milkshake were the same as the've always been-- my favorite treat in all of Seattle (or the world??). I gave them 4 stars because their new "register" didn't show me the total for my bill, and because I was distracted with anticipation and wanting to sit down, I didn't look carefully-- when I saw my bank statement later, I think they accidentally overcharged us. But, I'll be back for sure-- just will check my bill total next time. My mouth is watering in anticipation already. If you want a savory, satisfying burger that's like nothing you've ever tasted-- head over to Katsu Burger-- and be sure you get nori fries while you are there!

This place is amazing! I'm kind of a burger snob and these burgers never cease to blow my mind. Nori fries are also on point and lots of dipping sauces options on the side to enhance your meal! Milkshakes are also great! Staff are also very welcoming and friendly. The location is kind of weird, but the best food comes from those kinds of places anyway! Highly recommend for anyone who loves burgers!

Katsu Burger - the name pretty much says what this restaurant is all about - meat cutlets are prepared "katsu style" where the meat is dipped in a tempura batter, coated in Japanese Panko bread crumbs and fried to "juicy perfection". Located in the middle-of-no-where (it says West Seattle, but it's actually South Seattle), Katsu Burger lies in a little strip mall next to an Adult video store at a corner's intersection. This little hole-in-the-wall burger joint is a small venue, which can seat up to 16-20 people. I ordered the Katsu Curry Burger. Made with a pork cutlet (prepared their "katsu style" way) was a large size of meat, which was perfectly cooked. The burger had American cheese, curry mayo, shredded cabbage, tomatoes, red onion, pickles and tonkatsu sauce (which I felt needed more since the thing was a bit dry). No bueno for a dry burger. The pork cutlet was cooked very well, but I preferred it on a bed of white rice. Maybe I chose the wrong flavor at this place? Not too sure. But I thought the burger was so-so. The size of the burgers are ginormous! They're pretty much good to share for two people or saved for left-overs. I made my burger a meal and ordered the "Ichi-ban" option, which comes with seasoned fries (you choose the type of seasoning and I opted for Nori), one sauce (I opted for tonkatsu) and a regular drink. The fries reminded me a lot of McDonald's fries. Very similar! The tonkatsu sauce was for the fries to dip in or for your burger. Drinks can be either of a Japanese brand or regular soda (out from their self-selve fridge). Employees were very friendly and courteous. Food came out piping hot and was served in a jiffy. Parking is quite limited in front of Katsu Burger, but there is nearby strip malls, which has ample parking. I really think Katsu Burger is a good concept since there's nothing out there like this! But alas, the flavors just didn't work with me and I thought the food was just mediocre. I would give them another try, but I had a bite of those Banzai bites and thought they were a better option than my Katsu Curry Burger.

This is one of my new fave burger joints in Seattle. Although the exterior looks pretty shabby. Inside is your typical fast food place-- more decent-looking than the outside-- with the added twist of cute manga, anime, and japanese movie posters on the wall. I've eaten here twice and have tried the Godzilla Attack Burger with Beef Patty and Nori fries with tonkatsu sauce the first time. Second time, I tried the Katsu Curry Burger with Pork Cutlet and side of Nori fries with curry sauce. Hands down I thoroughly enjoyed and devoured the Godzilla Attack Burger and Nori fries with their tasty Tonkatsu Sauce. For me, the Katsu Curry Burger and Curry Dipping Sauce with the fries were only so-so. Next time I go back, I want to try something different (like the Samurai Select, Wabi Wasabi, or Ohayou Gozaimasou) but it'll be hard because for this place I feel like I've found the perfect burger, fries, and dipping sauce combination that make my taste buds sing and sets the bar high for any other choice. Hmmm, we'll see... Curiosity always gets the best of me! For young kids (mine are aged 5 and 2), they devoured the chicken Banzai Bites and Nori fries with a side of tonkatsu dipping sauce and good old ketchup. Also, for our next stop here, I look forward to trying their milkshake. I'm eyeing the Green Tea Milkshake in particular because I love green tea. To sum it up, great tasting burgers. The Tonkatsu Sauce rocks! Decent prices and choices. Another good reason to go down to funky Georgetown/Sodo. Awesome!!!

So when we first knew that we were heading to Seattle and Vancouver, I immediately poured over every food website and blog to see what I could discover, on Eater they showed the, 'Eater Seattle Heat Map'12' (sizzle sizzle....crack) and on it was Katsu Burger. Intrigued, I had to know further (I did I did) as it sounded like my two most favorite food items combined into one!! Could it be? Was this a sign from the Hindu Elephant God Ganesha, with his multiple arms reaching over to me beckoning me to enter Gluttonous Nirvana?!?!? So, to preface, this place is way out of the center of the downtown area and inconvenient for tourists, (the only we were able to swing by was on the way to the airport and the LEED certified Starbucks) unless you're gonna make your way to the Museum of Flight down the street. But it's worth it! The owner Hajime Sato, started off his culinary entrepreneurism with Mashiko, Seattle's first sustainable Sushi Bar and Restaurant, (check out his website, it's pretty funny about his mantra-'shut up and eat'...and how traditional Japanese music reminds him of elementary school and death). When you walk in, you get a feeling that it's a fun place to be, offbeat colored walls, large open kitchen counter, world map with pins placed on the origins of customers who have eaten there, (we're the first from Vegas! Yay!) So the Main offering here is Beef Burgers that are dipped inTempura Batter and then covered in Panko breading and then fried....OMG what is this heaven of deliciousness?!?! They also do it in a pork and chicken cutlet as well as Tofu (bleah bleah). Let's start off with drinks, it was going to be an all out gluttony, (it was our last meal in the great Pacific Northwest) and we wanted to go out with a bang! The special milkshake: Kinako and Black Sesame, combined two of my favorite ingredients so it a was a perfect Asian counterpart of an American classic! Starting off with the Fries, we tried the Shoestring Fries, one order with Curry and the other with Nori Seasoning with a Wasabi Mayonnaise and Tonkatsu Dipping Sauce. The portions here are huge, they come in a Chinese to go box and it is filled to the brim with lots of fries, we couldn't finish one order, much less two!! But it was well worth it, they were yummy; fried to a crisp, the seasonings were original and the sauces added to the flavor profile. I really thought they were some of the best fries we've had! Boy, these are not small portions!! First of all the patty itself is sizable, then you have the condiments and then the bun itself is pretty huge, so it makes for a good meal! All the components are very soft and juicy, so it does goes down very smoothly, (some burgers goes down like a rock and stay in your stomach like a boulder) and frying the burger locks the meat juices in. The Godzilla Attack: Fried Beef Patty with Pepper Jack Cheese, Jalapeños, Spicy Mayo and Tonkatsu Sauce. This is a flavor packed punch - the spice level is higher than expected, but I loved the burger!!!! Would love to have ordered others as well, (next time the Samurai Select: Fried Beef Patty with Bacon, Pineapple, Japanese Mayo and Teriyaki Sauce). The Ninja Deluxe: Fried Pork Cutlet with Cheddar, Bacon, Japanese Mayo and Tonkatsu Sauce. As a Tonkatsu addict, it was hard not to love this, it had all the right components: a thick Pork cutlet fried perfectly combined with the components of a classic Bacon cheeseburger, this is the new American Classic, (I just love fried foods with Mayo, and the Japanese Mayo has a interesting tang similar to Tartar....) Add the Crunch of the Cabbage (a must with Tonkatsu) and you've got the prefect meld of both worlds... So we left Seattle with our bellies full and satisfied, and it won't be long before we dream of coming back here and eating the rest of the menu, it's delicious!!! Calling all young Hipsters and Japanese fusion geeks, go down to Katsu Burger in Georgetown and get your fix. Great service, very informative of their different flavor profile. Their over the counter menu is simple and and easy to read. Parking in the front. Access is a little tricky but you'll find a way, its worth a turn around. Prices are great, a burger, fries, and drink will get you full til your food coma out. Go home smelling like sweet tonkatsu fried bread. I'm smelling my hands right now. Delicious memories. Great addition to the Southend; Georgetown. Thank you for the good food. Please visit and support the place. if you like Japanese flavors and your love burgers you just found your heaven. Stay there and enjoy nirvana for a while.

I took some Portlanders here for lunch today. I had the Samurai Select burger, and some nori fries with the spicy mayo dipping sauce. The service was really nice, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was great. If I had one difficulty, it would be for the labeling above the waste receptacles - there was a sign to separate your trash, but the compost/ recycle/ garbage signs were in frames above, where I didn't even think to look. Maybe it's just me, but I thought I would mention it. There are signs... Just look up!

These things are frickin monsters!!!!! You can definitely split any of their burgers with someone n still be satisfied. This place maybe a little hard to find parking for since parking is really limited n depending on time of day finding a place to eat is gonna be difficult as well since they only have about 5 or 6 tables. If you do manage to get here the burgers are well worth it n the service is on point.

Just picked up a to go order from Katsu. I got the Tokyo classic, nori fries, miso honey sauce and wasabi coleslaw. It's a huge burger! I thought it was a little bland though. I ended up adding ketchup and wished I had grabbed a packet of mustard too. Maybe the other burgers are more flavorful? The nori fries were awesome: crispy and wonderfully seasoned. I didn't care for the miso honey sauce. It was way sweeter than I was expecting. The wasabi coleslaw was kind of bland also. I think it could use a little more salt and maybe something else. I ordered way too much my first time here and it came to $14. If I come back, I'll bring a friend to share an order of fries with, skip the coleslaw and order a different burger. I'm not sure if I'll want to try it again though.

Love the idea of a deep fried patty meat. Love their spicy mayo sauce on the burgers. I've tried their Godzilla burger: spicy but delicious and their regular basic katsu burger: which I recommend if you're just trying out. Overall, love this burger joint; a must try.

Good god, this place is awesome. Love the nori fries! The burgers were gut-busters, for sure. Loved the choice of sauces and the friendly, awesome staff. We will be back!

A LOT OF FOOD. HUGE BURGER. TONS OF FRIES. It's a good deal that you can pick a Japanese drink like Ramune or Calpico as a combo w/a burger + fries. Those drinks are pretty pricy here. I ordered Tokyo something with nori fries and wasabi mayo. Although I thought I was starving, I could not finish the whole thing. It's a lot. Wasabi mayo certainly has a kick! Calpico helped a bunch to wash off the heat. Staff were very friendly and seemed enthusiastic about what they serve. Vegetarians will be happy there as well since they substitute any burger w/ tofu one. You can have your (sort of) Japanese lunch there and go straight to Maruta for Japanese groceries. It's only a few minute drive. One thing...menchi katsu (burger pate) was a bit dry and hard. In Japan, it's juicy and tender. For that reason, I have to give 3.5 stars since it's the most important part of the burger.

A MUST try location. I've had some good burgers in my day, home made and at one of our fav joint 8oz burger bar in cap hill. This play is definitely one of those must go places and we finally hit it up tonight. I got the ohaiyo gosaimasu which was crazy good. amazingly moist patty and the cabbage is perfect texture. and of course a fried egg on top to make it just a picture of beauty. the fries with the seaweed flakes was also a nice accompaniment for the meal. and finally we splurged on the black sesame shake and it was just great - get it with some chocolate and it kind of tastes like peanut butter cup shake. All in all, we will be back and definitely be chowing down - my cuz said the pork was crazy moist and delish as well so that will be my next choice!

Tasty burger! Good selection of drinks. Lots of good options whether its burgers, fries, dipping sauces, or drinks. I got the classic because I was trying to save money. It was delicious and filling! The zesty dipping sauce was also very good. It reminded me of BKs zesty sauce but obviously better! Only complaints is the shoestring fries, they tasted good but I would prefer larger fries, and the price range. If your looking for a value menu, this is not the place to go. I can't wait to go back! p.s. someone must be a fan of Miyazaki there because there are framed photos from a few of his movies.

I am fan of Japanese take on American burgers so coming to Katsu is a no brainer since the place employs excellent American cooks with different ethnicity to Japanize the burgers. All burger meats are deep fried and you can choose your own meat to deep fried. The burger size is big. The deep fried nature of the meat warrants cutting it in half to make the consumption less messy. My personal favorite is the Godzilla and nori fries (fries with seaweed flakes). Chicken bites are hit and miss. Sometimes they are just too dried but flavorful regardless. The place itself is kind of hard to get into and parking is limited. Depending on where you're coming from, you might have to make a U turn to get to the shopping strip by the street. Signs are not easily seen from the street.

I used to live about 7 minutes away and has had this joint bookmarked for almost 2 years... So why now did I decide to come here to fulfill my hunger ?! I got the Samuari Select, nori fries with wasabi sauce, pineapple green tea shake. FYI: I'm petite and was able to murder this in 10 minutes. No joke! Three words: fat girl status. I may have moved farther from this joint, but I'm willing to take the trip up here again.

I have seen many pictures, and 'teasers' from Ron M. which drove me to the point of bookmarking, and saying to myself, the next time I go into Seattle I'm hitting this place up! And finally, I did just that, with GPS in hand, address programmed, I ventured into this place. Located in an industrial area of the city, this place has this colorful, Japanese cartoonish logo of a burger, and I knew I was in the right place. Entereing here, the place is darn right simple, a few black tables, with simplistic chairs, the order desk, a menu that is framed and hung with their signature burgers, I was already set to whip out my wallet and donate my funds to this joint. I didn't know what to order my first time here, I asked what the most popular burger was on the menu, and the cashier said there is a certain following of each, but the main ones would be the Tokyo, Ninja and Godzilla. OK, decisions, decisions, what the heck am I to order, and also eat, cause I am not getting food for awhile till my next destination. I picked the Godzilla burger (beef patty, pepper jack, jalapenos, spicy mayonase, tonkatsu sauce) as what their menu exactly said.... and said the hell with it. She screamed the order to the kitchen, and my burger was on the start of creation! Me and my partner continued along, looking at what others were eating, seeing the map hung on the far left side, with pin tacks in, as to where people came from to eat at this establishment, from all over the world. We even looked at the cute, funny posters hanging along the hallway going toward the back (washroom/bathroom). They have this well thought up of area for your garbage, as there are three bins, and above them, hang three frames, with cut outs of exactly what you chuck into each. I had a wax cup, and becaue of the pictures above, I knew exactly which bin to throw it in! When they called my name, and packed it in the bag, I was surprised to feel how heavy the bag was. I only ordered a burger? Is it supposed to weigh this much? Maybe it's the condiments, no matter, off to the car we go. While walking outside I noticed more people go on into the place, and I was like, "well it must be good, to come all the way out here for a burger". When we got into the car, I was planning on just driving off onto I-5 toward Portland, I'm glad I didn't, as I would not have been able to enjoy this 'monster' of a burger! The woman was nice enough to have the burger cut right in half, knowing that we were sharing, and to my surprise (as I wasn't watching them, when the burger patty was dipped in the frying oil!) to notice that the patty was done deep fried tempura style. Breaded, I was amazed, and also that this burger, even though just one patty, was tall in size. The average mouth cannot fit this sucker, even if you were to say open wide, there is no way, you might suffer a jaw lock on this one! Fresh green shredded lettuce, nice crisp looking burger patty, solid 'puffy' kaiser bun, this thing was massive! I think back of all those 'other' mediocre burgers I have had, and I can't compare right now to what I had then in the car sitting in front of the joint. I think, maybe I should have just sat in the place, even though there wasn't much of anywhere to sit. The jalapenos gave it that extra kick of spice, not too hot, but just enough where it wasn't a burning sensation on my tongue that would equate to another burning sensation later! For them, using fresh green lettuce, makes a huge difference to the sandwich, and you do not get that bloated feeling eating this treat! I took a little pin from them, saying I've been here, but I do look forward to stopping by here again in the near future. I didn't think a burger could be done this good, and I come from a place who 'Japanese'd' a hotdog, move over Japadog... I need one of these in my city!

A few people told me about this place and I had been wanting to go here for some time. It's right down the street from my work, so I got my boyfriend to come have lunch with me one day. He was very skeptical and wasn't sure about this whole Japanese style take on burgers. In my opinion, I don't think you can go wrong with anything katsu style (patty dipped in tempura batter, coated in panko bread crumbs and than deep fried! My mouth is watering again). Oh boy did I prove him wrong! We both had Godzilla Attack burgers with bacon, and an order of sea salt fries with tonkatsu and sriracha dipping sauce. Oh my gosh. Amazing. Piled with lots and lots of little jalapenos, nice and crispy but juicy on the inside beef patty. Yum yum yum! Oh and the burgers are huge! I should not have eaten that whole thing because I was STUFFED the rest of the day. I don't think I even ate dinner that night. Definitely going back again!

What can you say about a deep fried burger? Tasty. Delicious. Crunchy. YOu==ou would think a deep fried burger would be greasy. But Katsu burger combines it with crunchy fresh toppings that make this one of the best burgers ever. And the fries? WIth dipping sauces? Yummy. I wished I hadn't ordered a combo (Ichiban) because I would've loved to try one of their milkshakes, but more for later!

First off -- I want to say the staff here are incredible. We arrived about 10 minutes after closing due to a late bus and were about to resign ourselves to getting a chili dog across the street, but the manager of this place was BEYOND friendly, welcomed us in and took our orders. The teenage staff members were quick and efficient getting them out, and didn't even complain or look annoyed at the couple of jerk bags who came in late and postponed their closing routine. The manager even offered to let us eat our meal there -- but already feeling like dorky schlubs we thanked them profusely and politely declined their more than generous offer. Katsu Burger Crew, you guys are awesome! The food itself? SUPER tasty, and this was after a 15 min bus ride home. Im sure if we had them fresh it would have been to die for, but even having them just warm was an experience. These things are monstrous -- and fitting enough I ordered the Godzilla burger, my company the Ninja. The godzilla was a beef patty with spicy mayo, pepperjack, jalapenos and all the toppings. I picked off the pickles and onions and pretty much inhaled the first half of my burger. I politely saved the last half for my other half, and promptly started noshing on his. Ninja burger was a juicy pork cutlet, will some sort of cheese and all the fixings that was just delicious. Seriously, both the burgers were great. We also split a black sesame milkshake that was thick, creamy, and just sweet enough. The place itself is cute -- they offer all sorts of Japanese goodies from pocky sticks to those koala cracker things, plus their fridge case is full of milk coffee, teas, and calpico as well. Prices might seem a little high until you actually get your food -- like I said all the portions are HUGE and well worth $7-10 a burger. Also, FREE BUTTONS with their logo. I have a cute little hamburger on my purse as I type this. I really liked this place and loved the staff! I'll make the scary bus trek back to Georgetown anytime for another one.

We finally stopped in here yesterday and got our order in just before it closed. We had ninja deluxe katsu burgers and they were tasty and just as ordered. The staff was great as well. We will be back!

Came back here again after almost 2 years and it's still very good/interesting. Had this fried beef patty with bacon, eggs, and japanese coleslaw. also got to try the curry and nori frieds, as well as this delicious green tea milkshake. I sometimes wish they had non-fried pattys to go along with their condiments and sauces.

For $12, I got a Katsu Curry burger with Nori Fries and Drink (they have this awesome Jasmine Green Tea in a can there). Pros: Fries are very good and served in these Asian-styled take out boxes. Nice concept and I love the assortment of sauces they offer (at least 7 or 8 kinds). Drink selection is also very nice, I saw some iced coffee, some Asian drinks and your typical canned soda or bottled water). Cons: I ordered the wrong burger, for sure. This is the only reason I knock it from being a solid 4-star rating. Eating the Katsu Curry burger made me realize that pork cutlets are NOT good in burgers. I think the patty in a burger should be soft and savory. Pork cutlet is just too hard, especially in the center. That, and I also learned that I don't like curry in a burger. I ate the whole thing (huge burger btw), but I definitely will not be ordering that again. Next time will be a beef patty, or chicken. Just a note for those that like soft patty. Overall good place.

I came in with the high hopes of finding something delicious and new (off Capitol Hill). The menu looked so promising! However, it just failed to deliver. The staff was really cool, but lets just get to the food. I ordered the curry Katsu burger, and Nori fries. My boyfriend ordered the wabi Wasabi burger and curry fries. The meat on my sandwich was bland, and deep fried. The bun tasted stale and not warm or soft at all. Besides being doused in curry sauce there really wasn't any flavor. The nori fries were extremely salty and not as wonderful as everyone here suggested. The curry fries were also salty and tasted like curry powder. The wasabi burger at least was more flavorful than my curry Katsu. This place really was just "meh" and I don't think we will ever come back, total waste of calories.

i'm not going to say too much about this place... you'll just have to trust me on this one. the product will sell itself. the burgers, the fries, the milkshakes, the dipping sauces... are DELICIOUS! but be forewarned! it WILL leave you in a food coma. and for the super hungry... tackle the Mt. Fuji burger... beef, chicken, pork, egg and bacon... in the words of Sir-Mix-a-Lot "jump on it"

What can i say about this place... the burgers are amazing!! Well the one burger i got that one time was amazing lol The Mt. Fuji - the burger of all burgers. Mt. Fuji (beef patty, pork cutlet, chicken breast, American, pepper jack, cheddar, fried egg, wasabi mayo, spicy mayo, & tonkatsu sauce). Yes its large, yes its dripping with sauce and oil, and yes you cant your mouth around it, but its is damn good ^_^ It is a small location and way far out there but totally worth the trip. The staff is really friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Definitely go back!

I'm surprised that San Francisco doesn't have something this delicious. Ahh, give it time before people rip Katsu Burger's idea off :( Hopefully, KB will keep their consistent quality and be #1! Living in Seattle for two years, I am sad to say that I have discovered my favorite burger joint in the North West....only four days shy of my move back to San Francisco. What the Hell! All those months wasting away in crap/mediocre burger joints. And to find Katsu Burger right before I leave... sigh. Japanese style burgers. You know what the Japanese have? Really good mayo and katsuuuu! My girlfriend and I ordered two of their most popular burgers. We ordered the Japanese style burger. It had all the fixings, and the burger was deep fried, and breaded with katsu. HUGE! We also ordered the pork curry Katsu burger. Deep fried pork loin with curry sauce and the other fixings. The Nori fries with Wasabi mayo and Spicy mayo were a must too. They have other great burgers, with fried egg toppings or "super sizing" the meal and other styles. I think they even had a black sesame milk shake. Ohhhhh yes please. Service is great, the employees like their job and take pride in what they make. I was told they are trying to expand... and they should! What a gem in South Seattle!

Visit #2: Ordered the Ninja again, nori fries, curry mayo. Katsu was spot on - crisp, plentiful and nicely cooked. The bun is my nemesis: coarse textured, dry and cold. Not sure if it's because they come straight out of the packing or if they are some sort of high fiber roll. Might be better if they took a spin on the flat top to toast them and warm them up? Hajime - help me out here!

Craving a burger? Craving fries? Craving something more adventurous? Then Katsu Burger might be what you're looking for! Katsu's menu is not like your typical burger joint's menu. Being able to order something curry or wasabi flavored at a burger joint = awesome to me. Also, you can choose which type of meat you'd like your burger to be made of (Super bonus points from me)! Their burgers are prepared katsu style (hence, the name). Katsu Curry Burger - A pork patty, curry mayo, swiss cheese, and tonkatsu sauce!!! I've got to say, this most definitely, was not your regular burger. The crunch from the panko covered patty made the experience completely different from the typical, and rather a bit more messy. But, the flavors of the burger were well put together and I did enjoy this one quite a bit. Wabi Wasabi - Beef patty, wasabi mayo, pepperjack cheese, and tonkatsu sauce. I am obsessed with wasabi so I was most excited to try this one out. Sadly, I think my obsession overpowered this burger, because it wasn't "wasabi enough" for me. I wished the wasabi mayo had a little bit more wasabi-wildness but I can't hold that against the burger because I'm sure it wasn't meant to be a mouth implosion of hot mustard going up to your nose. :/ Either way, of course, I still enjoyed the burger... not so sure if I would get this again though... Nori Fries - These fries were rather good. I had them with a side of the curry mayo and the spicy mayo. My favorite was the curry mayo - and that means a lot, because I am not the biggest fan of really heavy curry flavor. Overall, my first experience here was good! I can't wait to go back and try some more burgers... As far as grease goes, no one should walk into a burger joint expecting no grease... This place is extremely packed with long lines, especially during lunch hours. And, not to mention, their incredibly minimal parking spaces. So, if you want to skip the crowd and parking hassle, wait til the late afternoon to evening. Enjoy :)

Impressed! I've heard of this place in the past few months, but haven't made it a priority to make it here on one of my Seattle trips. I just happened to be taking my nephew and niece out and thought that this would be a good place to try. Not only was it good, I thought it was great! service was quick once you got to order. you walk up and order your food (the line can get long but once you order the food comes out quickly). food was great! i got the classic Katsu burger, which is basically a menchi katsu (deep fried hamburger meat) in a burger, along with nori fries and a green tea milkshake. The green tea milkshake was basically green tea ice cream in liquid form, but no complaints here. ;) The fries were very tasty and I'm looking forward to trying to curry fries next time. On to the burger, man was it good. It runs about $7 for the classic., but some of the others can get up to $10 for burger only. It's definitely a good sized burger that's not healthy at all, but man is it tasty. The burger was fried to perfection, juicy inside and very crispy breading. My nephew and niece also got the pork cutlet burger. I had a bite of that one and it was very solid as well. I won't be coming here too often or else I'll be gaining alot of weight, but it's definitely a must visit when I'm back in Seattle during the holidays.

Off the beaten path and in an industrial part of the city, is the small and uniquely Seattle, Katsu Burger. If meat is not you're cup of tea, tofu is also offered as an alternative. One thing that was nice to see here is that they will substitute any type of meat/tofu in any of their burgers at no charge. Aside from beef, pork, and tofu, chicken is also offered as an option. These days, you'd be hard pressed to find places that offer free substitutions. Also offered here, are uniquely flavored hand-dipped shakes. The special flavror at the time was green tea & pineapple. One word to describe it - amazing! Despite the the katsu beef losing it's crunch and lack of bacon flavor, I can easily overlook all that due to the overall impression Katsu Burger has made on my taste buds and my stomach. They are officially jumping into the #2 spot of my Toppings! The only thing keeping me making Katsu Burger part of my daily routine is my cholesterol level! To see pictures and descriptions of what we had, check out my blog: nwgourmand.wordpress.com…

I came here with my boss one day. He was raving about it whenever a burger place was discussed. I got the Tokyo burger, fries, and a can of Coke. The burger was fantastic. They bread the patty in some sort of batter, but it turns out awesome. Sadly if I were not told to come here, the outside of the building is not very welcoming looking. It's run down outside so I probably wouldn't ever stop on my own. Once you get inside the building it is clean, nice feeling and the people are very friendly. It is Seattle trendy inside, but not in a obscene way. I really liked it and would recommend it to anyone. What a diamond in the rough!

My visit to Katsu Burger was on a Wednesday night around 7PM so there were only a couple of customers and the service was not only impressively fast and efficient, but also sincere and courteous, which I really appreciated. I got the sense that they were proud of what they served and wanted to be sure we enjoyed it - and we did! I had the Samurai Select burger w/ sea salt fries and my wife had the Teriyaki Chicken burger w/ curry fries. We also got miso honey mustard, wasabi mayo and curry mayo sauces. Now, as others have stated, it isn't necessarily the greatest quality burger but the preparation is fantastic (well fried not too greasy, well assembled, good flavors) and for me, the size is great. The fries are good but not great, though I'm told to try the nori fries next time, and the sauces are interesting but not quite wow-inducing. The best item for me though, was the black sesame shake. Wow, was that tasty. It was perfect in consistency and flavor: nutty, sweet, sensational. I would go back just for the shake. The guys informed me that I ought to try the Kinako shake next time which is a combo of the black sesame and chocolate resulting in a peanut butter cup effect, but man, I don't know how I could veer away from the black sesame alone. If you are at all a fan of sesame, it will take you to a happy place.

After hearing the hype, I finally made it here for lunch on a Friday. Almost all the seats were full and there was a stream of to go orders. We enjoyed the classic Katsu burger and a side of fries. We enjoyed the curry fries more than the nori fries. The burger was juicy and good size. A little pricey for what you get but not bad. Service is really friend and the place is clean. I won't be running back but I would go back if I have the craving.

You know that instant when you bite in a burger and you start to shake your head in amazement and astonishment? Well, I just had one. And I almost got mad too. I took my 2nd bite and said, "dude... that is f_ckin dope!" and started to shake my head. In a nutshell, Ninja Burger - dope. Fries with Nori - dope. Gotta go now and hug my co-worker for telling me about his place.

preparation// located in a semi-deserted strip mall on a random corner....it almost looked somewhat abandoned, which makes for excellent parking! ;p ambiance//**** casual dining is so much fun...small tables for people to share...but the coolest part is the pop culture that lines these walls.... i got a kick out of the kewpie poster (japanese mayo brand) oh~ and there's a world map when you enter for you to push pin your place of origin...fun way to see who has been there...or for you to leave your mark service//**** the guys there were really chill...and even came out of the kitchen to ask how we liked our burgers food//**** burger names are all tributes to J-culture from godzilla attack to samurai select the taste of each of the burgers were yummy fun fries and shake were alright...they also provide water~ *note* while the price & size is as good as it gets for non-fast-food ...my friends and i were laughing when we walked out because we each ordered a burger and devoured our individual ones after trying each others' for flavor whereas ALL the other customers were pairs of people that ordered one to share portion was decent sized (somewhere between a gourmet & double-double) that it was filling, but i could probably eat another one =9 ~*~ stop by to experience a fusion of cultures!~ *fun freebie* they don't have business cards so my friend and i got one of those badge pins instead~

Why doesn't Seattle have more places with a pork cutlet sandwich? We have plenty of good sandwiches, but a pork katsu or cutlet seems to be a rarity in these neck of the woods. Now, growing up in a town whose official sandwich was the butterfly pork cutlet, I have always enjoyed the other white meat fried up. Granted the version was flat as a pancake and big as a plate, the version here pays homage to the Japanese tonkatsu, albeit sized for a bun, and it works! The thicker cut was juicy and flavorful and held up well. I tried the Ninja Deluxe, which was a tasty combo of pork cutlet, cheddar, bacon, Japanese mayonnaise, and tonkatsu sauce. Definitely enjoyed it thoroughly, and at nearly $9 it is a little pricey but well worth it and keeps you full. I also ordered a side of fries with nori, which was perfect - not salty yet flavorful. They have beef burgers as well, which I will definitely have to try. Or try something over the top like the Mt Fuji which seems like something cooked up on an episode of Man vs Food - beef partty, pork cutlet, chicken breast, American, pepper jack, cheddar, fried dgg, bacon, wasabi mayonnaise, spicy mayonnaise, and tonkatsu sauce. Definitely worth a try for something different, or something more familiar.

I moved back from Japan almost a year ago. One of the things I was truly sorry to leave behind was Chicken Katsu Burgers at KFC. The KFC burger was bad in all the right ways. It had the crappy fake chicken patty but it was covered in the oh so amazing katsu sauce. Topped with fresh bits of cabbage and then the most amazing of condiments Japanese mayo (it is the apple cider vinegar and MSG added that makes it Japanese). Then as always it is sandwiched between a crappy burger bun topped with sesame seeds. It was small, heavy, greasy but tangy and creamy too. All together making it oh so satisfying. Alsa this is the US and I fear that KFC here will never offer this amazing treat of a sandwich. Then to my delight in steps Katsu Burger. It had opened shortly after my return and I was over-joyed that maybe my long lost Katsu Burger fetish will be yet appeased! So I went and I tried (twice) and here is the break down Star earned- For having katsu burgers. That is all I can say and little more. As most of their sandwiches seem to focus on trying to be huge and ridiculous. Which is an aspect of Japanese fast food chains. It is not the primary focus. I have to say I felt a little disappointed that they don't have a basic pork or chicken katsu burger like the one listed above. Both times I tried the Standard. Switched it to chicken and had to ask them to take off the onions, pickles and tomato. They are simply not needed if you have katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. And forgot that they were using lettuce instead of cabbage. Yes it matters. Star earned- The meat on both occasions was actually prepared very well. It tasted like a really decent katsu. This is more than I can say for the original KFC katsu burger patty. That has a terrible mealy texture. However the patty no matter how well it is prepare, really needs to be quickly dipped in the katsu sauce like they do in Japan. There should be a light katsu sauce tasty in each bit. I simply could not taste the katsu on this sandwich. Also they are far and away too big. Good value for the size but much too big. I would prefer a smaller slightly more expensive burger dipped in sauce than this burger. Star earned-Friendly service. The staff both times I have come and been friendly and timely. I like that I can see the kitchen and feel that my food is being prepared in and reasonable environment. Well that is all I can say. Good or Bad. These guys are ok. But I think I will just continue to try to make my own katsu burgers at home.

Food-flavor wise I'd probably give it a 3, but I love the idea and innovation, so it's a pretty solid 4. The menu is pretty fun with a Japanese katsu/American burger twist. They have fun sides like nori fries and green tea milkshakes. I like that they offer a substitution of any meat free of charge and all the options sound really fun! Everything looked so good on yelp that I had really high hopes and a lot of excitement to finally eat at this place. I had the standard ninja burger (minus pickles) and I have to say that the katsu was really well cooked. Tender and juicy - not as hard to eat in burger form as I'd expect (since I usually eat katsu with knife and fork in hand). However, despite the flavorful sounding toppings (cheddar, bacon, tonkatsu sauce...) it was surprisingly lacking in the flavor department. It was just kind of ...I don't know... missing something. That bit of zing or punch or anything that made my taste-buds excited just wasn't there. However, everything was cooked well and the ingredients are all things I like. I'm just not sure what I was missing! I also tried some of their nori fries - which next time I'd probably pass on. The burger was more than enough to fill me and the fries weren't super exciting (although the idea sounds super awesome). It also comes with choice of sauce - we chose spicy mayo which was pretty tasty. On top of that I had to try out their pineapple green tea shake. Deeeelicious! A little sweet and rich to drink an entire one, but definitely worth a try! I believe the pineapple addition version is seasonal, but the regular green tea is a staple. One of the workers was really nice and gave us free ice cream + fried cinnamon sugar ginger chips for a dessert before our entrees. It seems it's a new thing they're trying out and introducing to customers. I have to say at least half of us weren't a fan of the ginger - left a bit of bitter taste at the back of my mouth. However, one of my friends loved it so perhaps really big ginger fans will find it to be a great treat. Either way, it was super nice of them to share it with us. I'd say it's definitely worth the time to check it out for yourself and form your own opinion. Although I wasn't super wow-ed by anything, I wouldn't tell someone to skip out on anything they were wanting to try.

Ordered the samurai burger and fries. The bun on the burger was stone cold. The fries were dry and overcooked. The burger leaned towards 'well well well' done. I'm not sure I get the appeal of deep frying and breading a burger patty, I couldn't taste the beef. The bun fell apart before I could finish 1/2 of the burger. This tells me the buns was stale, and/or stored too cold. Another reviewer said their prices were 'right.' $12 for a burger combo, that's more than Elliot Bay Brewery charges for any of their burgers, which are delicious. $12 burger combo means it best be PERFECT, in light of the fact I can get a perfect burger from Elliot Bay or even the bowling alley for $10. Especially when you're located in a shit neighborhood. I've eaten a lot of burgers. Thousands over my lifetime. I ate 1/2 the samurai burger and threw it and the fries away. I would've saved the burger to my dog, but I'm sure the extra grease from the frying would screw him up. The staff was young kids who don't know better. It was near closing, so the 'chef' came out to the dining room and started making phone calls on his cell right behind me. I believe he was requesting hugs from a lady. I seriously don't get the hype.

This is my 1st ever review on yelp. I had to sign up after my visit today to Katsu Burger. Why? THE FOOD. Yea, bad location, worse parking, and very few seats inside or out. Did I come for location, parking, or seats? NO, I came for the food and I was not only very happy but BLOWN AWAY. OK,OK, a little extreme for a hamburger and fries? I think not, and I've had a couple of burgers in my lifetime. If Fuddruckers bought out Katsu they could become a viable burger national chain. Warning: this is not a cheap burger joint, this is a "you get what you pay for"place" well worth the high end prices.

We've been trying to go here and finally, yesterday, we were able to. It was worth the wait. While we were waiting, we could see them making the burgers and they were gigantic and mouthwatering. Little did we know that our burgers would be that big, too. I ordered the Katsu Burger and my bf ordered the Classic. We both liked what we got. I was able to finish mine even though it was good for two meals. That's how good it is. We will definitely come back and I recommend this to everyone who wants a unique meal featuring familiar concepts (katsu, curry, etc).

I love Japanese food, and I love American food. I would never have thought to try combining the two, but it's brilliant! Granted japodog probably started the revolution here in town, Katsu burger is definitely one of the most unique and creative burger places I've ever been. The location is a little off the grid and often times packed causing a long wait, but try everything!! It all sounds delicious!! However, do not go here if you are looking for a simple, plain burger. I don't think it's on the menu. :) On my first visit, I tried the curry pork katsu burger, nori fries, a green tea shake. The portions are huge and you can definitely share! Everything was delicious and extremely messy. At first I thought my shake had no flavor, but it ended up all being at the bottom. I love green tea flavored anything so this was definitely a hit! Unfortunately, i don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Although, I loved everything, I don't think my waistline can take frequent visits...

Come here for a truly EPIC burger. This will not substitute for a nice juicy, sloppy, american-style burger. It's really something else entirely. The patty is FRIED for one thing, katsu-style. Surprisingly, this doesn't make the patty dry, or overly filling, or even diminish the flavor of the meat (whichever one you choose out of beef, pork, chicken, or tofu). I went with the crazy burger with tons of stuff on it including a friend egg and bacon, but next time I would probably go for something more basic. Not that it wasn't completely enjoyable. I made a mess stuffing my face and I loved every minute of it. But I think you might be able to better appreciate the elements of the burger if you have fewer things to focus on. Also, the fries almost stole the show for me. Both the nori fries and the curry fries were delicious. And are surprisingly good with straight-up sriracha! But I would recommend trying all the sauces. I liked the curry mayo, but next time I think I will try wasabi mayo. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they have milkshakes! Tried the green tea and it was pretty good. Probably a little sweeter than I like my green tea flavored things to be, but I imagine that most customers like that. I was a little put out by how little the employees seemed to know or appreciate korean food....but they are still cheerful and extremely accommodating.

YUM! We noticed the new burger joint while driving through Georgetown and decided to give it a try. Katsu-style burgers, what more do I need to say? I tried the Tokyo Classic (panko-breaded beef patty with shredded cabbage, slided red onion, tomato, Japanese mayo, and katsu sauce) with Nori-seasoned fries. My husband tried the Ohayou Burger (panko-breaded beef patty with cheese, a fried egg, and bacon). We had our fried with the wasabi dipping sauce and curry dipping sauce. Delicious!! I can't wait to try other burgers on their menu Avoid the lunch hour crowd because seating is limited. We ended up taking our order to go. In case we go again, we will definitely call ahead. CARPOOL. Very limited parking available.

Tasty, rich and filling food here, and the sauces are top notch! The burgers were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the nori & curry fries were flavorful without being overpowering. Comfortably decorated with music from the likes of Weezer and Beck piping in to assist with the digestion. Service was friendly and they even thanked us as we were leaving, which is always appreciated. The only less that great item was the green tea shake, which didn't have as much tea-y flavor as I'd hoped, but it was still a solid shake nonetheless. Seating is very limited so expect to order to go if you can't come early.

I was having a terrible day a few weeks ago. I got stuck at work late, I was having problems getting people to cooperate at work, and other minutiae problems that as a middle-class American I should be ashamed to be bitching about. I was like Garfield on a Monday, fat and useless and full of hate. So to make myself feel better, I went to a place that always makes me happy. This place is Katsu Burger. Katsu Burger takes two of my favorite things, Japanese food and the hamburger then combines them into a some kind of super food. Basically, the concept is burgers, panko breaded, and bolstered by Japanese elements. It's like when Volton forms. With Volton each component is awesome because it's a robot cat but together it's a giant robot with an energy sword. So I guess Katsu Burger is the Voltron of burgers. Anyway, I walk into KB (calling it KB cause I'm tired of writing out Katsu Burger) after my doo-doo day and begin to scan the menu. It's really hard to order at KB cause EVERYTHING looks good. They have panko breaded chicken with pineapple and teriyaki sauce, pork curry, ground beef, chicken bites, and the fries! Oh, the fries! First time I went I ordered curry fries and they were delicious. The only downside is that my hands smelled like curry the next few days. I would still get them and eat them wearing rubber gloves. Yes, they are so good I would risk looking like some kind of Howard Hughes, germophobe to eat those fries. They also have nori fries which are seasoned with seaweed that are delectable. I'm a sauceman so I love the fact that they have a variety of dipping sauces for from wasabi mayo to tonkatsu sauce. I finally decided on the Ninja Deluxe and Nori Fries. The cashier asked for my name and told her. She then said, 'Oh, we just got a call from our boss. You get a free shake.' I was like, 'How did they... I don't even... Wow...' I think they must have found my tweet about my bad day KB reward and reacted that quickly. That or they have some kind of machine that reads customer emotions, but GE is still working on that technology. In short, KB is worth your time. Great customer service, a very unique and delicious take on the common burger, and because I told you to and you listen to whatever I say.

I was really excited to try katsu burger. we go the tokyo burger with egg and cheese. The burger is on the dry side ((not saucy) and the bread is dense which is good because it is less likely to slide apart and you try to mash it down to get it into your mouth. Initially the crunchy outside of the patty is nice, but as time goes on it softens and falls off so it becomes a moot point. All in all, the I thought it was just ok, the patty was too large for my taste, and it was so big that it felt like work to finish it.

Super solid 4 stars for Hajime's burger venture. If they were open on Sundays and served beer then a complete 5 stars would be had. We finally had the urge to pop down to Georgetown for a meal. The place is oddly located, so it's a bit of a test to get to the little parking lot, but I managed :) We were warmly greeted by a nice young fellow who made suggestions and told us his likes. I settled on the Godzilla, and the man settled on the Ninja. For sides we did plain sea salt fries and nori fries. Wow! These burgers are monsters. A large part has to do with the bun, which I initially would have liked to not be so thick, but it actually held up to the moisture brought on by the burgers and toppings, so perhaps it was a good idea afterall. My Godzilla was topped with sriracha mayo and jalapenos, but the heat was slow-coming, so it wasn't overwhelming at all. The Ninja was a pork cutlet that was super juicy and equally delicious. But the fries! Oh my. Those nori fires kicked Hello Kitty's ass. Paired with the curry mayo, THAT combo kicked Little Twin Stars' ass. What I'm saying is...they were delish. So I'm happy, but also sad, there there's yet another burger joint in my Best of Seattle list. A girl can only eat so much!

Japanese-anything fusion is one of my fave cuisines, so I was excited to try Katsu Burger. It's small but wasn't crowded on a rainy Monday evening. I had the Katsu Curry burger, which was good. IMHO it would've been truly excellent if it'd had actual J-curry in it (not just a mild curry mayo) and a better bun. The curry seasoned fries were tasty, but my fave thing was def the nori seasoned fries. I kinda want nori on my fries all the time now. I'd def go back. P.S. The bathroom is nice and clean. And there's a cute sign that tells you to use it with "great joy." Heh.

I was very excited to have the chance to take my husband to experience the Ninja Deluxe that I hyped-up so remarkably. This time around the bun was thick and sooooo dry. Neither of us even finished our sandwiches. My husband looks at me and said "you must have been really hungry the last time you were here." I was very embarrassed. So I now offer up my assumption that it might be really great, or it might not. It was to expensive for me to take the chance again.

Five star burger. Never a bad experience. The pork katsu burgers ate bomb too. Shakes rock, fries, sauces, everything five stars. Great art work on the walls. Only caveat is the location. A must go burger joint when in Seattle.

I'm not a huge burger fan, so it means a lot when I say these were quite good. Doesn't really taste like a "burger" though. I had the Classic & thought it was really good, moist, juicy. Good fries too. Wish the place was a bit bigger. And do something about the flies inside.

Katsu Burger could easily become my guilty pleasure of choice. All the patties here are breaded and deep fried. Though the menu specifies that some burgers come with a beef patty, some with a pork cutlet, etc,, you are free to sub the patty of you choice on any burger. So, you want that Wabi Wasabi made with a chicken breast? Go for it. Food is cooked-to-order, so you wait a few minutes for your burger. But, not too long. And your burger comes out freshly prepared and piping hot. Yummy sauce and fresh veggies (including the nonstandard shredded cabbage) top each sandwich. The accompanying fries, with your choice of dipping sauce (I'm partial to the wasabi mayo), are also hot, crispy, and perfectly complement the burgers. Service is friendly. You order-at-the-counter, but a staff person brings your order to your table. (And, today, one even took ours away when we were done.) My one complaint: I did not see the sign advertising Cinnamon-Ginger Milkshakes until I was nearly done with my meal. Will need to make a trip back some time soon to check one out...

Very tasty. There were four of us and everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered. I had the tofu burger (yes...I know...who goes to a hamburger joint and doesn't eat meat...) but it was really tasty. The husband and friends all enjoyed their burgers (Wabi wasabi - hamburger, Wabi wasabi - chicken,Godzilla attack) too. The only thing I would complain about was that the but was a bit underwhelming. It seemed like it was too light and airy piece of bread, their burgers could have stood to have a heartier bun. The curry fries were very tasty, just the perfect amount of seasoning. The Nori fries were sprinkled with a little bit of seaweed. They were good, but not anything special. Wasabi dipping sauce could stand to have more wasabi and less mayo. But the sriracha sauce was very tasty, if you like spicy.

It fits in well among the lunch time (mostly teriyaki) spots of industrial Georgetown, as evidenced by the lunch and dinner time crowd. $9 gets you a large burger full of asian-inspired toppings. As heavy as it sounds, the burger is entirely delicious and overwhelming. It's hard to get a bite of everything due to the sheer height of the toppings, lofty bun, and hefty patty, but each bite was pretty tasty. The milkshakes are more ice cream than milk. You should probably split this if you don't want a brainfreeze and upset tummy. Shoestring fries were plentiful, but a little dry for me. Though the simple furikake dusting made it unique and tasty. I'm going to have to start carrying my own furikake to McD's.. Definitely something to try!

Tempura fried what? Burger!!!!! Aww yeah. Way to go Katsu Burger. The wife and I swooped in here right from the airport and left stuffed for our drive to Vancouver! Get any of the sandwiches and make sure you're hungry cause the protein serving is big and so is the bun (A little too big for my liking of the proper burger:bun ratio). The wife and I got the Katsu curry and the ohayo gosamtsu with the Sumo size meal option. Nori fries and Bonzai (tempura chicken) bites. Black sesame shake. Damn delicious on the umami factor. The Sumo meal is enough to share. Seating is limited, but not to worry, a table will clear up by the time your meal is ready. This is a must try for all those burger seekers out there. Will come again on my next trip to Seattle.

They get 4 stars for originality! Any place that deep fries a pork chop gets an extra star. I had the Ninja. It was kind of a ubiquitous combination of tonkatsu on a bun with mayo-tonkatsu mix sauce. I went the route of a french fry purist with sea salt. Next time I'll do the nori. The lunch was great, but the portion was really too big. Cutting back on the size would be a lot better for lunch. I'll remember to split it with someone so I'm not so full the rest of the day. The location is kind of a downer. This shouldn't be in Georgetown on Marginal Way. Maybe by Stella's or closer to downtown would be better. Service is quick. The only problem I had was deciding on what to order. Interior, typical of the area. Parking is out front, but the street is really busy, so be careful when leaving.

Katsu Burger is not a place to eat if you consider yourself on a diet. I've been here twice, first for the Tokyo Classic burger and then for the Ohayou Gozaimasu burger. Needless to say, both burgers are amazing, and are most likely nothing you've tried before. But if I had to pick between the two, I think the Ohayou Gozaimasu is the one I like more. Imagine it like a royal red robin, but in their style. The nori fries look different, but they taste just like any other fries you'd get from a burger and fries place, except that the seasoning is seaweed, which gives it a little different taste to them. I like them, and especially with the selection of sauces they have. Note that the burger and stuff takes a while to cook, and from the times I'd come by during lunch time it's usually a little busy. Expect to give this place a bit more time to shell out your meal, but trust me it's so worth it.

This place isn't just good. It's not even really good. It's super, refreakingdiculously good. They could probably get by for awhile just on the idea alone even if the katsu was just mediocre. But the katsu is simply amazing, not greasy, not overcooked, just crunchy on the otutside, tender on the inside, and tasty. The seaweed fries are also addictive. On top of that, the staff is extremey friendly and very responsive to suggestions; apparently they just added combo meals this week from customer input. They say that they didn't expect such a big response and started with limited hours, but they're talking about opening later and being open on weekends. Get there now, before Guy Fieri shows up and makes it impossible to ever get in the door again. This place is so inventive and delicious it's just a matter of time.

When I was told about this place, I was not interested in the least. Somehow, my husband talked me into going and, well, now I can say I've tried it once. If you know what katsu is, it's basically something fried in some sort of breading. If you think about it, you're eating a carb sandwich, which can cause some serious food coma if you ask me. I like to taste the meat in my burger- with Katsu burgers, you can literally bread and fry a shoe and I don't think anyone would notice. I reluctantly order the burger with the least amount of anything in it and it was i think the "classic". My husband ordered the pork one. We also ordered one plain and one nori fries. The burgers are extraordinary huge. Not sure anyone should be thankful for that, unless they workout often! We immediately came to the conclusion that we should have shared! As far as taste goes, eh. I mean it's a super breaded and fried piece of meat between mayo and an overly thick/dry bun! Carb overload! I felt sick 1/4 of the way through and felt disgusted with myself! Ok, the nori fries were tasty! I'll give them that! I still crave it, I do! But both fries were overly salted. I wanted to stick my head in a well after eating some of it! In summary, the burgers were a bit much, the nori fries were delicious (but could have used a lot less salt). it is something to try if you're in the area and you have a designated driver (you WILL get food coma).

This place has a great concept and even though they haven't even officially opened, their execution is spot on. Went with some coworkers and we sampled a variety of burgers and fries and everyone left extremely happy and completely stuffed. I had the Wabi Wasabi burger - fried and battered beef patty with pepper jack, wasbi mayo and tonkatsu sauce. Pure artery-clogging deliciousness. The burger was juicy, not too greasy and very, very filling. Flavors were also top notch. I stole both the nori and curry fries from my dining companions - both great. And topped things off with a super thick chocolate shake. Portions are big and prices reasonable. I expect this place to do quite the business in Georgetown.

I have found love and her name is........KATSU BURGER! I enjoyed a delectable Ninja Deluxe w/beef patty..awesome! Nori fries...awesome! My daughter (both daughters)said the Tokyo Classic is "amazing"! I agree :) The Godzilla Attack could kick Rodan's butt with it's fiery breath! Kids loved green tea shake and chocolate was good too. We'll be back!

The burgers are huge! the chicken katsu nuggets were great. I really dont like the hard bun though. My husband and I think the fried katsu patty is enough the bun should be soft like a potatoe bun or something. Staff was very friendly. Very busy when we went. I had a really big headache after I ate here. Fell in a coma, took a 3 hour nap. I would definatley share with someone next time.

Wow. Katsu Burger has one of the most innovative menus ever. From the burgers down to the condiments, just about every American fast food item incorporates some Japanese flavor- green tea milkshake, curry and nori fries, wasabi mayonnaise, etc. And the burgers- hamburger patties battered with panko and deep fried?! It's like Japanese style chicken fried steak- in a burger!... Brilliant, indeed! I was a bit skeptical with the addition of tonkatsu sauce since it can easily be overpowering, but it wasn't. It is a bit pricey for a burger, but the portions are HUGE!

Short version: this is the closest approximation to katsu-style burgers that you'll find on this side of the Pacific. Period. I've eaten at some superior places in Japan that had worse than here. That said, the absolute best is a little hole in the wall in a nondescript neighborhood filled with cheap apartments in Yokohama. So this place has big shoes to fill. Long: I ordered a ninja burger with nori flaked seasoning on my fries. Oh the joy ... the pork was cooked perfectly and the juices didn't mix with the crumbs. The panko was crunchy and delicious, and the bun was not that bad ... I didn't think it was perfect but it wasn't terrible. I only subtracted one star because of parking, location, and somewhat long wait for the food. At least they try to make it taste good! I like it! The food is pricey, but I prefer quality over quantity. This has both, and you pay for it, as it should be. My wife is of Japanese descent and she sorely misses the ability to get a good katsu burger. Not anymore. She loves this place. And she found the cashier a bit catching (grrrrrr, minus 5 stars!!!!! ... ok be objective ... ).

If they had better parking this place would get five stars. The Samuri Select burger, which was the special for the day and added curry seasoned fries. The burger was very good. It is very big when you see it but not too heavy when you eat it. The service was great so this will be a lunchtime repeat for sure.

If you are ever tired of a typical cheeseburger and wish to venture out a little bit, this is the place to go. A refreshing twist on your typical burger and fries. Burger is flavorful and moist and the fries with the curry dipping sauce are awesome! Still need to go back and try the other options.

I'm writing this review and salivating over my experience here. I'm in love with Mashiko, so I knew Katsu Burger was going to be good. Some coworkers and I happened to sneak in during the soft opening on our Georgetown lunch break. BEST DECISION OF THE WEEK. I went with the classic Tokyo Burger with some seasoned nori fries and a side of wasabi mayo. Yes, it's as amazing as it sounds. The burger is juicy with the most perfect panko crust. The cabbage in place of lettuce gives it a much heartier crunch. The tang of the tonkatsu sauce cuts through the richness of the burger. The fries were crispy with the perfect amount of nori flakes and paired insanely well with the wasabi mayo. Plus, the staff was incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in our thoughts on the meal. The only thing I'd say is that the bun didn't really excite me - typical sesame seed yet a little bit dry. Then again, it held the juicy burger together. I expect this place to be hoppin. I'm glad I got my first fix before the lines!

Though I was waiting to share the experience with a friend, they got too jammed-up, and was too hungry. I visited on the recommendation of a friend, and I was impressed by the character of the burger; nice texture and flavor. Personally, I would prefer thicker slices (1-2) of bacon, than the see-thru shaved bacon that was on my burger, which was more like a "hint" of flavor. the tomato slice was "shaved" in thickness and flavor too. I'm not expecting a salad in my burger, but if a joint says "sliced tomato, and bacon", I don't think a 1/16th inch thickness is asking too much for portions of bacon, or tomato. As an experience for that kind of hamburger preparation, it's definitely WORTH a visit, as you'll eat a great burger with lots of flavor and texture. The beverage selections, milk teas-sodas-milkshakes, are good too; as with the selections of seasonings for your french-fries. Unless the bacon gets thicker there, I'll pass on that extra.

I had the Ohayou Gozaimasu, and curry fries. So very tasty. Yes, they do bread it in the Japanese style and then deep fry the patty. Is it good for you? Nope. Is it tasty? Yes. Yes it is. If you do have a chance to visit Katsu in Georgetown, please do!

I love this place. There's not much to say other than that it is really freaking good. But be forewarned, these burgers pack a punch lemme tell ya. I can only eat here twice a year because it takes 6 months to recover from eating their creations. Good luck to you.

great idea, would be awesome as a secret hidden menu item on a burger, but its shocking to me that they could make an entire restaurant out of this concept. i guess i'm missing the point since it was packed. i wanted to be excited about the nori fries, and i loved the seasoning, but if you make the fries soggy, there's no saving that.

Ok, I've had their burgers three times now. and two of them in one week (which i do NOT recommend). The first time was when we ordered 'carry out' and by the time we ate our burgers, they were getting cold. i was not too impressed wth the quality, but damn, the burgers are HUGE!! we all suffered from severe carb crashing and i don't think i ate for 24 hrs after that. deep fried burger bombs ..... This place is small... only a few tables to sit at. parking is really limited. good luck at finding a parking spot! My second trip was right before Christmas. i took my two teenage boys there. they were amused that the nori fries and the godzilla sized burgers (which they inhaled quickly). My third trip was 2 days later, still digesting my Teriyaki chicken/hawaiian burger from my earlier visit. this time i had the chicken bites. i requested that they not over fry (is that possible?) the chicken bites. what i noticed that when they are frying their burgers.. man are they frying their burgers. over kill on the frying ................ Yikes! i found a hair (not mine) in the fries. ... but they were gracious to get me ANOTHER order of fries (as i need more fries!) and a green tea milkshake. that was very nice of them. When the lunch crowd appears, they are busy..... expect to wait in line. Each time i have survived my katsu burger and nori fries, smelling of grease and wasabi mayo... insisting that it will be 6 months before i consume another katsu burger (or lose 10 pounds which ever comes first). i think this is a 'cute' novelty place. not a place that you'd want to go to on a regular basis~it'll wreak havoc on your diet, for sure.

One word...YUM! I don't think I've ever had a burger quite like this before. I've been here twice and both times got the Godzilla burger. It's super good, the way they good the meat leaves it nice and juicy. The buns can be a little dry and too big, but if you can get around that, the rest of the burger is amazingly good. Have had the nori and curry fries and by far the nori fries are way better.

Who knew putting one of my favorite foods, Tonkatsu, into burger form would be so genius?! My sister and I split the curry tonkatsu burger, since she'd been there before and said they were pretty big. We also got a side of nori and curry fries with a few sauces: wasabi, curry and miso honey mustard. For a normal sized person (not mini people), a regular burger would fill you up. The fries were a bit on the salty side, but the sauces help balance that out. This place is a little small and they have seating inside and some tables outside. Not a great place for large groups (6+). I'd love to come back to try their green tea pineapple shake.

So I read about this place last week in the online newspaper, I was in the area that same evening so I tried it. Let me tell you... the service was GREAT, once the manager? At the front counter found out it was my first time she asked all the right questions to guide me to my ultimate meal. The Ninja burger was so big I had leftovers for the following day. The sea-salt fries with dipping sauce were amazing & the coleslaw was fabulous! Even though the burgers are a little pricey they are so very much worth it! I will be going back next week to experiment with a different burger and dipping sauce.

A few caveats: * This review of Katsu Burger is based solely on my first ever visit today * I am of Japanese descent and have had similar food in Tokyo, Nagasaki, Osaka, LA, NY and Vancouver * I am a former sous chef * I firmly believe that good, authentic Japanese food is very difficult to find in Seattle and is both out of the way and pricey when you find it * Nobody makes better tonkatsu than my wife I am not going to subtract any points for the location of Katsu Burger though it is very small with limited parking. I agree with all comments about their great service. The restaurant is small enough that the staff will remember you after you place your order and will happily bring your order or portions of your order to your table as long as there isn't a huge line at the register. I ordered the Ninja Burger which is a pork cutlet (tonkatsu) with lettuce, tonkatsu sauce mayo, tomatoes and cheddar between two brioche-like buns. I give -1 point for my cutlet being a bit undercooked and the panko a bit blackened, but not enough for me to complain to the staff or get sick. I ordered it "Ichiban" style which is one of the combo options that includes an order of fries and your choice of soft drink. +1 point for the drink options including: Pokka coffee, Ramune, assortment of canned teas and Calpis (Calpico) though strangely not the original Calpis flavor (they only carry strawberry and mango flavor). I'm not going to talk about the decor of the place. All reviews below do a great job of describing the interior. Let's get back to my slightly undercooked burger. I was disappointed that Sato-san was not behind the grill as I don't think he would have allowed my burger to leave the counter in its condition. One of the amateur mistakes a lot of fry cooks in Seattle tend to make is overheat their frying oil. It doesn't take a pro chef to tell you that overheated oil will overcook your breading while under cook the meat within it. Proper frying is an artform. The seasoning of the tonkatsu was no better than what you would find in a bento pack at Uwajimaya...just meh. The fries were also just meh but they give you a lot for the value. I recommend sharing. The vegetable toppings were fresh and they balanced well with the katsu mayo sauce. The cheese, however, would have benefited from being melted a bit. I love the mess of the ingredients falling out. It will take a bit of skill to use the wrapping to hold the toppings all in. You can look around and identify the regulars by how skilled they are with taking chomps. Example: a woman sitting at the table next to us was able to hold the burger in one hand while reading a newspaper in the other with no mess...impressive because these burgers are quite large and do not hold together well. The bun was nothing to rave about. In fact, I will have to give -1 point for their lazy preparation. There are a few things that can be done to make it perfect, but I won't give them away as I plan to improve upon their preparations (all-up) and open my own restaurant someday and bring some Japanese cuisine goodness to Seattle -- fusion or otherwise. This town is deprived of great "washoku," and it deserves better. That said, Katsu Burger will fit your fancy if you are tired/bored of your everyday burger. 3 out of 5 stars.

If you are looking for a cheat meal, look no further because this is your spot. The burgers are nice and moist but the fries are okay (nothing special). The milkshake is good and that's really all you need for a burger joint with a Japanese flare to it.

Talk about a damn good burger! After living in the South for the last two years, I still have trouble believing that I'd not had a deep fried burger after having just about everything else deep fried. A few old work friends and I came here yesterday to catch up, stuff our faces with meat, and just have a good time. And we did. The menu isn't all that intimidating, except for the Mt. Fuji burger. I want to believe it's like one of those gimmick burgers where you have to finish it in X minutes and you win a shirt or something. Five kinds of meat?!?! WHAT?! Not wanting to go back to the hospital for a procedure, I went with the Samurai burger with extra bacon. My expectations for this place and the food were met with a hurricane of flavors. The deep fried beef was done perfectly. The bacon that delectable combination of chewy and crispy. The pineapple adding some extra zing and a certain I don't know what. The shredded cabbage in place of lettuce adding a delightful bite. Tomatoes weren't too thick (yucky) or too thin. The wasabi mayo wasn't overpowering at all, just enough to notice it was there and not start a fire in your mouth. The nori fries were something else. I still don't know if I like them. I mean, I ate them all. But part of me can't help but feel that my opinion on the fries themselves were influenced by the ohmygodwhatisthis flavor of the Japanese mustard. I'll definitely be going back here the next time I find myself in Georgetown or SODO. Bits of advice...parking is limited. Really limited, especially around lunch time. And this being Seattle, sadly, no one knows how to park yet. Equally as limited is the seating. There's seating for maybe 10 people. That's it. Also, it's really easy to miss this place if you're not familiar with the area. Just keep your eyes open. Oh, there's a no debit/credit for orders for under $10. Be mindful of that when you order.

Definitely a burger worth trying! The tonkatsu burger concept complimented by the Asian garnishments gives you a new appreciation on how a burger can be put together. The components and magnitude of the burger threw a wrench on my tour of Seattle eats. The Katsu Curry Burger did me in and let's just say I'm normally a big eater, but this burger had my face planted! I also ordered the nori fries which I barely touched. The meal overall was heavy but packed with flavorful goodness. Unfortunately, there's no Katsu Burger located by me, I couldn't say I can eat this on the regular but it would be nice to have such an option on those heavy food needing days.....

When my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to try Katsu Burger for lunch today I said sure, knowing full well that my vegetarian self would probably be munching on fries and a milkshake. But then I saw the Tofu Burger on their menu, with miso honey mustard sauce, and suddenly I was much hungrier! I mean, come on.. Miso? Honey? And mustard? Ohhh, and it really was so amazing!! I am not a lover of tofu but I can definitely make an exception when it's breaded and deep-fried (so good!). I was honestly shocked I loved this "burger" so much. My boyfriend tried the Ninja Burger and loved that as well. We both got fries; mine were the curry fries with curry mayo, and his were the nori fries with spicy mayo. The spices and sauces were delicious, however the fries were too soft for me, like they were a bit old. Portions were huge and we really did not need those fries anyway, I barely touched mine. We didn't get shakes but after reading other reviews I'm thinking next time I might! The dining space here is small for sure, and the parking is less than stellar, but the service was fabulous and the burgers delicious! The katsu concept is great and I'd definitely recommend eating here at least once. Yum!!

OMG do I love this place. Great food, clean and friendly plus the shakes are to DIE FOR! I am seriously in love with the pineapple green tea milk shake and want to marry it. I also love dipping my fries in the wasabi mayo sauce. Also fast enough to dip into when I only have 40 minutes for lunch. Cant want to get back to Seattle and have some more!

What creative idea! Japanese cuisine made in an American way! The burger was pretty tasty! I wish there was a little more meat and the price for the burger might be a little ste, so I'd only go for once in awhile treat! Also, the dining space is tiny so you might need to grab it to go.

Heard a lot of this place from friends working at Boeing. Decided to swing by for a late lunch snack during our vacation in the Seattle area. Had the Shoga Shogun special with nori fries. Very tasty and imaginative using the sushi ginger in the "burgers". The sandwich is large and they cut it up for us since we were sharing it as a snack. Would definitely go again next time I'm in Seattle. Limited parking though so I'm not sure if I'd schedule my next visit during lunch as I understand it can get crowded.

This place is soooooooooo amazing! I went on Monday around 2 it was not busy at all. The service was fantastic and the food outstanding! I had the chicken terriyaki burger. My friend had oahyou burger. The chicken was moist and delicious and the sauce was perfect. The oahyou burger was stellar. He got it with out all the extras, I think it would have been better with, but still outstanding. We shared the nori fries with spicy mayo dip! If you love tonkatsu and burgers you have to try this place!

Georgetown gets another culinary lift! With a place whose name describes exactly what it does--it serves katsu-style burgers. What is "katsu" style? As the menu says, the burger (i.e., beef patty, pork cutlet, chicken breast or tofu) is dipped in tempura batter, coated in panko bread crumbs and then deep fried. The result is then dressed up in a bun with a variety of delicious ("oishii") Japanese accompaniments. It's a pretty tasty twist on an otherwise moribund sandwich theme. The mayo alone, for example, comes in at least four favors--curry, Japanese, spicy, and wasabi. The shoestring fries--which, by the way, are first rate--can be ordered seasoned with curry or nori (seaweed). And you can wash it all down with an exotic Japanese Ramune or Calpico drink. Despite the strange location--a row of store fronts at 4th Avenue and East Marginal Way, with little or no parking--the place just plain out-classes, out-shines and out-does all the other burgers joints around.

We stopped by this place on the way to the airport. Great burgers. Nori fries wonderful too. Next time we come back to visit we will have to try more things on the menu. Hamburgers patties are breaded Japanese style. Never had one like that before.

Tried out Katsu tonight - it is right by my work and I was craving a burger. I would definitely recommend people checking it out for a decent meal and an interesting experience. Here are my thoughts about my Godzilla Burger and seasoned fries: - The people working here are super friendly and helpful - I'm very happy with that! - The burger was interesting with it's crunch and richness - The size of the burger made it worth $7.50. - It was supposed to be spicy but neither the jalapeños nor the spicy mayo were hot enough for me to notice. - The fries were a little dry and I didn't care for the sauce (honey mustard) - There is nothing too special about the ambiance, however I think it is probably similar to how a place in Tokyo might look (I've never been to Japan though). When rating restaurants it is not fair to compare this place to the incredible burgers and fries at the Steelhead Diner or the amazing fries at the Elysian, but unfortunately they are lumped together on Yelp, so it would be wrong to give this place more than 3 stars. Overall, due to the very friendly staff, fairly reasonable prices and convenience from my work I will most likely return. I definitely recommend people giving it a try!

I grabbed five burgers for me, my wife and some coworkers. Service was pretty fast for lunchtime. I got the Ninja burger but with beef and my wife got the Katsu Curry with beef. The Ninja tasted like a good quality bbq bacon cheeseburger. My wife also liked her burger but she said that it did not have enough curry flavor. In contrast, the curry fries has tons of curry flavor. We both actually thought that the curry powder on the fries was a bit overpowering. We love curry and the taste of the curry powder was good but since it was a dry powder it kind of kicked the tastebuds too hard. We also ordered the nori fries. I thought that I wouldn't like them but the concept was so interesting we got them anyway. I was surprised that they were actually great! I don't like most of the bagged seawead rice snacks that you get in the grocery store and I assumed these would be similar, but they had more of a mild flavor. I will go here again. If I want a burger for lunch and I am short on time, I would go here before Burger Madness.

OMG! Best burger ever! I had the Ohayou Gozaimasu (beef patty, cheddar, fried egg, bacon, Japanese mayonnaise and tonkatsu sauce. It was soooooo good. I've never had egg on a burger before and I've never has a katsu style (dipped in tempura batter, coated in panko bread crumbs then deep fried) burger. I also had the seasoned fries with curry mayo. This place is two blocks from my office and I will be back every chance I get! The only negative I can offer is that the place is really small and really popular so it's more of a to-go spot and it would be nice if they warmed up the buns first. I just put my whole burger in the microwave for 20 seconds and it was perfect. My co-workers were disappointed that their buns were cold. But I'm still giving them the full five stars!

For an arrival time of 1:30pm, the place still had a line going out the door. This is usually sign of good food and the finished product did not disappoint - despite the half hour wait for my order. It's a small place an all 6 little tables were full so i had to take it to go. I've tried the Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Classic and Katsu Curry burger - all very tasty! I suggest adding the nori fries with the spicy mayo and a Ramune to wash it all down with.

Five stars for a burger place? Yes I did and if I could go 6 I would since I saw that Burger King down the street had 4 stars and just could not allow this excellent place to be equal. Our day of fun was cut short due to weather so instead of being able to hit the much more hyped Red Mill we "settled" for somewhere closer. Who knew "settling" could be soo good! This place serves Japanese style burgers/ sandwiches, which means everything from pork, chicken, to beef is fried with panko breading and served with Japanese sauces. I had the Ninja Burger, nori fries, and the dipped chocolate shake and loved every bit. The pork sandwich was perfectly cooked and the toppings and sauces all were perfect together. The sandwich was HUGE! I'm a big guy and the ninja had me full halfway through. The nori fries and dipping sauce was soo good my friend stole a lot of mines. The employees working that day (there was a tall guy and a brunette) were very friendly, checked in on us constantly, and talked about everything from the weather, Seinfeld, and music. The only negative was getting a brain vein trying to suck down the thick thick shake. Overall, is this the most healthiest place...no but I love places that push the envelope on food staples and fusion foods are starting to ramp up. The food was fresh, excellent service, means I'm a BIG fan. I'm so glad that the weather changed our course because this will be a place I definitely come back to again for more.

Best damn burger I've had in a good long while. Love the house made sauces, but in the end I actually perfered the plain Japanese mayo for my fries. I got the Ninja Deluxe, and it was down right amazing. Could have gone lighter on the sauce on it and I may have switched it for mayo, but still, these little things don't even come close to swaying my opinion. This place is #$%$ing delicious. The seaweed coated fries are salty goodness and the Wasabi coleslaw was different but absolutely tasty. I loved the addition of the edemame. The whole thing had just the right amount of heat to it. Definitely in my top 5 coleslaws of all time. The decor is an added bonus to the awesome. I have a little rule about where I go to eat, I'm down for good food in a fancy place but in the end if I can go somewhere with my girlfriend and get good food in a place where we don't turn heads and attract whispers and eyes from our piercings and hair style choices , is my idea of perfection. This place fits quite snuggly in my idea of how places should operate, you could be from any background and feel at home here. Too bad this was a vacation for PAX. This would be my regular spot if it was a possibility. Overall this is a must for anyone near Seattle. This burger may just change your life. And before I forget all of there containers are compostable! This place can't get any better!

This place has been on my list to try for a few weeks now. Got done working out today and was starved so I put it in GPS and headed over. The young lady who took my order was very nice and efficient. I got the Godzilla burger with jalapenos and spicy mayonaise. It was a thing of beauty, wrapped and perfectly assembled. I loved it. Not too spicy. after I was done the manager came over and asked how everything was. He was great too. Can't wait to head back.

We were excited when Katsu Burger opened in our neighborhood in 2011. Something new and different; yay! By now, I definitely have my favorites. I love the original Katsu Burger, with curry fries and wasabi mayo. I cannot go there without getting a green tea milkshake. It's so thick and creamy, and has the perfect amount of matcha powder. The white meat pork and chicken breast patties are pounded thin and breaded in panko and fried. The burger patty is a generous size, and it is also breaded in panko and fried. They are all cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I've never experienced otherwise. I prefer the chicken breast over the pork patty because it is leaner. I don't recommend the wasabi coleslaw, as it is usually drowning is sauce and the cabbage is often limp. I prefer a crisp coleslaw, light on the dressing. I'm also happy to say, they finally have a bun that is sturdy enough to stand up to their monster burgers. Also, the service has always been great. It's like the staff enjoys working there. I definitely recommend this place for someone looking to try something new. Just be sure to bring a hearty appetite! BTW, they do have a vegetarian option; you can order a burger with tofu!

katsu burger was exactly what i expected from hajime. being a west seattleite and knowing mashiko, i had high hopes for japanese burger heaven. i substituted tofu for beef and created quite the oxymoron since, as written, it comes with a couple of nice slices of bacon atop the pineapple. i had no complaints or regrets about the personalization of my burger :) the pineapple green tea milkshake is a keeper. really! don't make that a flavor of the month. that needs to be a regular item. all in all, left happy, and f-u-l-l-! and will be back.

I love a good burger, who doesn't? Katsu burger kicked off Seattle burger quest 2012 for a group of my friends and it was an amazing place to start. Take a delicious burger or piece of tasty pork, grill it and then bread it and fry it...wait what?? Did that really just happen? Oh yes...yes it did, and it is a demonic mega-burger that will haunt you in all the right ways. The sauces are killer, miso honey mustard with curry fries, oh man, i gotta get back there soon...gotta feed the monkey. Step 2 in burger quest has its work cut out for it!

I've always wanted to come here, you could always smell the scent of the burgers. After about 2 years, I decided to come, I ordered the Godzilla attack, which was huge and full of Japanese mayo that kept dripping off to the table. It couldn't even fit in my mouth that's how big it was. ( that's what she said) The milkshakes were just right, the sweet taste of green tea in your mouth yum! The tables were not cleaned really dirty and the seats too, would has given it a 5 stars if it was a little neat.

I love the flavors in the burgers, but I wish they hadn't screwed up the buns. The first time I ate there, they used a normal hamburger bun and it was delicious. Since then, however, it seems like they've changed the buns to something much more dense. They don't seem to toast them much, it at all, and the whole thing comes across doughy. On top of that, it's hard to get it into your mouth, because the burgers are so big and the buns are dense and incompressible. Aside from the bun issue, I really like Katsu burger. The store smells wonderful, and the flavors are mild and tasty. The Japanese mayo is superior to the stuff you normally get at a burger joint, and there are some excellent flavors of that to choose from. I like having cabbage on the burger. Fries are very good an come in at least three flavors. I generally get the sea salt flavor. Haven't tried the shakes yet. The service is great too.

Deep fried burgers. I know, it's something that should be labeled #thisiswhyyourfat but it's not as greasy as it sounds and they are tasty. Maybe big, messy and delicious are better descriptors. Everything I've tried was great except maybe the curry fries. Too much curry all at once for me. You won't be disappointed.

Yum yum yum! Had the Katsu curry burger, nori fries w/ spicy saracha mayo sauce and a Japanese milk shake (think peanut butter w/ a japanese twist). Those burgers are huge! Definitely one meal you could split (at least between two girls). Wish there were more seats because everything is so mouthwatering you'll want to eat it right away!

I lived in Japan for 10 years as a kid. Recently moved here when I had a hankering for Katsudon. Searched Specifically for Katsudon and this place showed up. It sits in a sketchy/industrial area. The inside is clean and welcoming. They had music playing overhead but the Mexican homie in the back had his Conjunto playing so loud you could hear both! The girl taking my order wasn't particularly friendly/happy, but oh well. Ordered the Curry Katsu Burger, Nori fries. They have a small selection of Japanese soft-drinks. Cool stuff on the wall. Order came out quickly, presented beautifully. Burger was good, the Nori fries were excellent. Would def come back to try a different version.

A small place with limited seating, but I have never had a problem with the wait or getting a seat. Burgers are tasty, creative, and big! I've tried nearly all the burgers on this menu except the tofu and the wasabi. I love that their meat is all natural. Also, they are environmentally conscious (they have separate bins for trash, recycle AND compost). YAY! I always get a side of fries. I think the curry or nori are the best with a side of a dipping sauce (huge selection!). And definitely get a milkshake (the black sesame is my favorite). The only item I did not enjoy was the wasabi coleslaw. The people who work here are really chill. Love the decor!! Definitely a regular place for me!

I've been wanting to try this place and finally stopped by on a Sunday after a visit to the Boeing flight museum. It's totally divey but absolutely delicious and gave me my Tokyo burger fix. Katsu burger is in an industrial area in a non-descript strip mall. Don't be put off by the weird location and sketchy market next door advertising adult movies. The place is super small but has a great vibe/décor with fun 80s music and friendly service. As mentioned in other reviews, the burgers are ENORMOUS. I had the pork katsu with spicy mayo and it was fantastic. The kids split a Tokyo classic burger which also looked delicious. There are lots of options for fries -- I especially liked the curry fries, though want to try the nori fries next time based on the reviews. They have great dipping sauces such as honey mustard, sriracha, and spicy mayo. Kids loved the milkshakes too. Definitely worth a trip back!

Really good depending on what you get. There's a lot of great options on the menu with my favorite being the Katsu Curry Burger (the curry mayo is amazing). The sauce they put on most of the burgers is pretty overpowering and to me, took away from the other tastes of some of the other burgers, I think I would ask for it without next time. Green tea shake was really good, and very refreshing!

This place was made for me. Anime pictures and collectors items all over the place, with some amazing burgers and fries!! I have never even heard of a Katsu burger...the idea is mind blowing and delicious. Don't be discouraged by the outside; the whole area looks pretty sketch but this is one place you do not want to miss. I will see you again shortly after I work off all the fries I just crammed in my mouth the other day.

Katsu burger is open again! I cannot be more happy! Yummy and unique hamburgers. Its everything you could want. Greasy, cheesy, rich and gooey. I've had the mount Fuji burger and it is a behemoth to behold. Must try if you are a serious eater lol. Fries are nice and crispy, and their unique green tea and black sesame shakes are to kill for. Reccomended for anyone who wants to try some Japanese american fusion. Yum!

This is not your ordinary boring burger joint. We were here for a late lunch a couple months ago. The burger was huge and packed with flavors. We had the Katsu Curry burger and the curry flavor gave a special twist. The Ohayo burger was a tower of deliciousness. It was a huge burger and you need a big appetite for it. Nori fries with their special sauces made it special. Can't wait to go back. We will probably try the Bellevue joint.

After moving to Seattle last month, one of my first priorities was finding a decent, unique, craft burger place. There are several paint-by-numbers places like Five Guys out here, and albeit filling, they have little content to bring to the table. This is, until I tried Katsu Burger with my wife. We were dismayed when reading burger reviews, and seeing Katsu Burger show up on many "top tens" posted for the area, but ALSO being closed. If I hadn't been on /reddit Seattle the other week, I wouldn't have found out that Katsu re-opened! The best part is the panko breaded, deep-fried burger. I have yet to try their Tonkatsu, but having ground beef offered the same treatment reserved for chicken / pork is mind-blowing. The Samurai was right up my alley, having pineapple, bacon, tonkatsu sauce, and Japanese mayo. The bun is hefty, and holds up to the majority of ones meal...although, as many have mentioned, the bun does become soggy by the very end. With that said, I wouldn't order anything to go, as I doubt the burger will be as crispy, or bun as firm as it would when consumed on the premises. Their nori fries are excellent. Perfectly cooked, with the right balance of salt and seaweed. I'm hesitant to get their curry fries, and I would't get the sea salt because I feel it'd lack the same essence you get from the nori variety. Their miso-honey sauce is delicious, although I think it'd be more appropriate for dipping something protein-based. Next time I'll opt for the wasabi mayo! Speaking of wasabi, their coleslaw is the only coleslaw I can stomach. I HATE coleslaw. I cannot stand it. This, however, is not only manageable, but something I thoroughly enjoyed. Lastly, my wife and I got the green tea milk-shake. It was extra thick (more than McDonald's) and difficult to drink at first, but after several minutes was thawed just enough to be gone in moments. I must say that their meal offering is confusing. You can add fries AND coleslaw, fries OR coleslaw, or fries, coleslaw AND chicken bites (I think it was chicken) to your order for a reduced cost AFTER buying a drink and a burger. The way the menu is worded, it might make some think you get any drink and the aforementioned sides for that one cost, but rather you pay for the drink, burger, and THEN get the sides at that cost. I was highly impressed by the wait time from ordering to plating, although the only reason for my 4 star rating is the location and abundance of flies in the dining area. I'm not sure why so many were in there (aside from open windows), but they kept to one spot and weren't in the kitchen. I have no concern that our food was prepared with the best health standards in mind, it was more of an atmosphere thing. As for the location. It's right by a train track (which can get noisy), and by another restaurant serving Chinese food, and parking was difficult that day (because someone parked across three spaces). These minor things aside, I can't wait to go there again, I'll likely take on the Mt. Fuji and their sesame milk-shake! Anyone else who reviews this location, please submit an update request stating that the business is now opened again. Yelp will not list this location on searches if it is still considered closed! Help the new owners out!!

We called our order in after reading through some of the reviews about the dinner crowd and limited space. Sure enough, the place was small and full. Glad we read through the reviews. I got the Samurai Select with chicken and my Husband and Brother got the Ninja Deluxe - one with pork and the other with chicken. We also got some nori fries and pork banzai bites -- they were great! So much food and so delicious. We can't wait to go back and try something else.

They just reopened. The restaurant is sometimes open even before the listed 12:00PM. My first time here was with friends who had been there before. My friend swears by it as one of the best burger places. Personally I think this place is a good place with a unique take on burgers. I had the Godzilla burger with chicken katsu. My favorite part is that they offer different types of patties for burgers. The different types of fries are interesting too. Curry fries are pretty my favorite. I would go back without a doubt. The pain point is that it's kind of far out in the Sodo area.

Amazing!!! Best burger and fries I have ever had!!! I went here with my friends from London when they were visiting. They are very into yelp and found good rumors of this place on-line and really wanted to try it. We had only moved to Seattle the week before so we were totally down to try something new. It's not easy to make a burger and fries into something unique and amazing, but they did it, and then some. Each of the four of us got something different, and we were all amazed by them. I can't advise you what to get here, all I can say is take a risk and try something you wouldn't normally try, because it will definitely pay off in the end. They recently opened a place in Factoria too. Word is they are still figuring it out (only open 3 weeks so far) so they're not quite as good as the original location, but it's a lot more convenient. ENJOY!

We found this place on yelp while checking out things for the house around the area. We ordered the ninja deluxe, chocolate shake, and ohayou burger. The place is small but comfortable and the staff is friendly. A very good frost expression! By the way the Tokyo tower burger looks amazing!!! It should be noted that they make their burgers to order so expect some wait. The burgers came in a carefully wrapped package. Only about 3 inches wide but about 6 inches tall. The pork and beef patties were juicy and extremely delicious. Would definitely come back again!!

I've heard about this place on car forums... Very popular amongst that crowd. Unique and tasty burgers. Clean restaurant and very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Fast too. Highly recommend.

This is probably one of the tastyest, largest, and most unique burgers I've ever eaten. I've had the ninja and godzilla and both were amazing. Prices are reasonable compared to the portions. The nori fries are good, but make sure to check your teeth afterward for little bits of green nori. To top it off, any restraunt that displays a chuck norris calendar fact of the day gets my seak of approval.

Deep fried burger, pork cutlets, chicken --you name it. One of those staple, hole in the wall type of places you don't eat at unless you're a local or someone tips you on the them. Anyway Katsu Burger is 3 thumbs up--try the Godzilla if you're ok with spicy ..boom

Nori fries with wasabi mayo get 5 stars, the bland burgers get 2 stars, thus an average of 3 stars! It's to bad the bun is just way to much bread and the burger has no flavor! Each description of the burgers sound so great, however once in hand and mouth, disappoint! Boohoo, I really want to love this place because of love the concept of fusion food! Staff is hit and miss, sometimes super friendly and sometimes very short!

After reading all the reviews I couldn't wait to try this place. Who doesn't want a deep fried burger burger right? The place is clean and the service is friendly. The menu has lots of choices of different katsu burgers. I went with the wasabi one it was pretty blah just a taste of deep fried oil with a hint of wasabi in the mayo. The fries I had were the nori fries they were overcooked hard things that again just tasted of the deep frier. With all the great reviews I must of just hit them on a bad day and that the deep freir oil is past due on the oil change.

Love the monster-sized burgers, fries, and all the different flavors they offer. I have still yet to try the new one in Bellevue, but that's on my to-do list.

I don't even know where to begin..a deep fried burger? I was a little skeptical at first as i thought it might be a greasy mess but it was actually pretty amazing. This little gem is located in Georgetown and has a small front parking lot. We went on a early Sunday evening so it wasn't too busy and we got a good parking spot. Katsu Burger is a very cute and cozy little restaurant. There is Japanese paraphernalia and anime art all over the walls. They even had Japanese drinks and snacks such as, Ramune, Pocky sticks and Calpico. I ordered the Tokyo Classic and added bacon and pepper jack, I also made it a Ichi Ban meal with Nori Fries, spicy mayo and upgraded with a Kinako and Black Sesame Milkshake. The burger was enormous! The pictures don't really do them justice. My burger was tremendously juicy and full of flavor without being too messy or greasy. I really liked how sturdy and soft the bun was, it held the burger together very well and was tasty. I loved the nori fries with spicy mayo. The fries are good but not very salty so the mayo gave them a nice little kick. The Kinako and Black Sesame Milkshake was fantastic! Kinako is roasted soybean flour, that flavor combined with Black Sesame tasted almost like peanut butter. My bf Mike had the Godzilla Attack, I didn't have a bite but he said it was very flavorful and had a good kick. He too had the Nori Fries with spicy mayo. He upgraded to a Green Tea Milkshake, which was very very good, I almost liked it better than mine! They also offer a Pineapple Green Tea Milkshake too. Mike and I both got Ichi Ban Meals with shakes, this was too much food. I couldn't finish my burger or fries so Mike had to help me, the portions here are huge! Next time we could each order a burger and share a fries and that would've been more than enough. Though the shakes are delicious and I love asian drinks I wish they would've had more soda options, such as Sprite or Fanta, they only had coke or diet coke for sodas. Mike really wanted a Sprite and doesn't like coke so he ordered a shake instead. Overall we had a fantastic experience. The ambiance was fun and inviting. The service was nice and helpful and the food was awesome! I also liked that they recycled and how clean and organized the place was. Katsu Burger is not something you eat every week but it's a nice indulgent treat once in awhile. Don't forget to check your teeth for Nori before leaving (; .

First time I came to Seattle, this was the burger I kept thinking about. It was on my list to eat asap when I officially moved here. The only problem is a bit out of the way. However, if you get the chance, definitely try it! You will not be disappointed. Classic - I actually prefer the classic burger with a pork tonkatsu instead of beef. It's the most original tonkatsu with tonkatsu sauce and veggies. It is so juicy and the patty is pretty thick. I have a hard time putting it in my mouth (that's what she said). It's crispy with a tangy kick. Absolutely dellish. Nori Fries - Their fries and nicely crisp with nori seasoning. It's not salty and there is a good nori flavor to them. There are a bunch of sauces to choose from but me and my friends prefer the wasabi mayo. It's unique and it's not spicy at all. Definitely give this a try! You will not be disappointed.

I had the Ohayou Gozaimasu burger and it was an excellent choice. I have never had a deep fried burger before and I was very pleased. It is a little pricey but not unreasonable. The people behind the counter were friendly and the food came quickly.

lunch food: ninja burger with nori fries. the cutlet wasnt as flavorful as i thought, but as a whole burger, it was decent. the burger is huge though. the nori fries are special. it was a bit salty for me, but still good. you can really taste the bacon and that kind of brought it home with the burger. what cant bacon do? without that though, i dont think i wouldve gave it a better rating. my sister had the katsu curry and that was a lot better in terms of taste...without the bacon of course. ***4/5 ambiance: small hidden place in georgetown. right in the corner, can be easy to miss if youre not paying attention. theres some outdoor seating and inside can fit up to 20 people or so. you can see the people prep and cook the food as they take your order. ***4/5 service: order and pick up style. they have all the condiments and utensils needed on the side. nothing too fancy. can take a bit of time to get your food ready. for 3 burgers, i think we had to wait for about 15 minutes. ***4/5 price: i was expecting fries to go with the burger for that money. but its not a fast food joint. you can see the cooks make everything individually. but its still not too bad though. it actually might be a bit hard to finish a burger and eat all their fries in one sitting. ***3/5 ---realized its closed now. too bad. i never got to try the Mt. Fuji!!!

Such a cool concept for a novelty burger place. This was recommended by a coworker as a place to eat on the way to SeaTac airport coming from Seattle. I now plan my route accordingly. I've come here twice now and my favorite part is the Japanese seasonings and flavor for the burgers. Also, curry fries!

Handsdown the best katsu I've had in Seattle, and even more that it's in burger-form! We had the Godzilla and Classic w/chicken katsu on both. I really like that you can choose between beef, chicken, pork and tofu katsu patties. What the hubby and I really liked is that the burger held its shape all the way to the laste bite and didn't fall apart into a ooey-gooey mess. The nori fries were good, but I couldn't really taste a difference between them and the reg seasalt fries. The guy at the counter was really nice and friendly and helped us make good choices. The placed continued to get busy even on a Saturday at 2pm, but we were able to get a table and enjoy our meal piping hot. Can't wait to go back and try more of their different burgers.

    W. O. W. !!! I am in love with Katsu burger after my first bite of it....absolutely delicious & juicy patty with the perfect amount of batter! I will eat it every week if I don't have to concern about my weight lol (: Their menu comprised of three choices of meat: chicken/beef/pork and they are catering to vegetarian needs also. These ain't some typical burgers that you can find in any joints. It is very authentic in terms of the Katsu sauce that I have ever had as compared to other Japanese restaurants! Their nori fries are the bomb...so crispy with the seaweed freshness in my every bite!!! Burgers are priced reasonably given the pretty big size; the basic ones are under $10 but only a little more for more gourmet style (: In short, I am one such big fan of it after my first visit! The only thing for advice is the limited seating they have if you plan on eating there with more than 4 people...on a side note (: What are you waiting for...go soon to check it out!!!

The choices were so hard to cut down to just one. I got the classic with chicken katsu and I wish I had gotten the Ninja Deluxe since mine didn't have much goin' on. Will get that next time! My boyfriend and I also tried the nori fries, black sesame and green tea milk shakes. Definitely suggest it to other burger enthusiasts.

The best burger place in Seattle (easily) and also one of the most unique food experiences in town. It's the Japanese style burgers are something you just can't find anywhere else. I love bringing out-of-towners for truly unique flavor. The combination of the spicy Godzilla Attack burger, nori fries with curry dipping sauce, and one of the amazing green tea milkshakes is unbeatable. I always leave completely stuffed.

Really REALLY good. We were at the Museum of Flight and were starving! We wanted to get lunch but there wasn't much around. Thank goodness for Yelp because it led us to Katsu Burger. The area where Katsu burger is located is very industrial and not pretty at all, but it's close to the Museum. I rolled up and almost left because the place looked like a complete hole-in-the-wall. My husband said "we're here, let's go in and try it" and I am so glad we did! Once inside, I breathed a sigh of relief, the place was really clean and well lit. We ordered some of the most delicious food we've had in a very long time. The Chicken Teriyaki Katsu burger was fantastic. Deep Fried chicken breast topped with pineapple and teriyaki sauce. WOW. My husband had the Ninja Deluxe, pork cutlet deep fried, which he loved! We shared sea salt fries and nori fries. I couldn't eat these super fried yummy delicious burgers every day, but if you are in the mood for a big meal, this is the place to go!

This is in my opinion one of Seattle's "Must Eats" for travelers. It's not fancy, it's in a relatively commercial location near Boeing Field. However it has EXCELLENT burgers with a Japanese twist. I've had the Tokyo Burger with a Pork Cutlet, and I've also tried the Godzilla Attack. If you like spicy try the Godzilla Attack my mouth was on fire. In a good way. The Tokyo Burger is excellent. If you like curry the Curry Fries are a must try also.

Deep fried burgers and chicken burgers! :) Good sizes and very flavorful! I love that they have beer here to wash down the greasiness goodness!!! You've gotta try it at least once. And then another and another. Heh heh.

Be prepared to food coma when you eat at this place. The burgers are delicious and a good size. You definitely won't feel like you didn't get enough. The amount of dipping sauces they have with their fries make it a new experience every time. I recommend the nori fries! As for dipping sauces, you can experiment :D

Really great! Soft sesame buns, katsu beef (or pork) burger, saucy deliciousness, pickles, sometimes wasabi or sriracha, tomato and lettuce. These guys make a mean burger. The shakes are amazing, as well - I can't decide which is my favorite: green tea, or kanaka (black sesame)? Maybe I could get them to combine the two. As for fries, the nori fries are great but messy. You'll get nori all over yourself. The curry fries are amazing as well, especially with the wasabi sauce. GO HERE!

This place is one of those places that you should take people who are visiting the Seattle region and want something different. Whenever I mention katsu burger, my friends visiting are always curious about what this katsu burger is. Probably one of the fattiest places to eat but it is well worth the splurge and drive down south of Seattle every once in a while. I usually get the curry burger. One time, my cousin and I decided to get the Mt Fuji. It was certainly mt Fuji alright. We had to split the burger in half otherwise we would never be able to finish this burger. The nori flavor fries complements the burger itself and the large selection of aioli sauces to choose from are beyond amazing. Will need to take my brother here next. He was really disappointed that the last time he came up they were closed. Will need to satisfy his craving next time he visits!

Went here today for lunch with my gf. I had the teriyaki burger and she had the Godzilla. Both were good although I did get mine sans mayonnaise. I went with teriyaki because it was the only chicken sandwich. Little did I know you can substitute meat on any sandwich for free. Had I known that there are many different sandwich combos I wanted to try. Green tea milk shake was good but wasn't mixed good enough. Had chunks of something on there but also seemed like all the flavoring was at the bottom of the milk shake, which was overpowering. The fries they have are also delicious. Have a few different seasoning salts to put on it. Gf had the 12 spices seasoning, was really good but also not for the people who can't take the heat. For those people there are plain sea salt fries and a few other seasoning. Each order of fries comes with your choice of about 8 different dipping sauces. Was a clean hole in the wall place. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Have to try this place at least once.

I had heard that Katsu had good food, so I was looking forward to eating here. I was VERY disappointed in the food. I had the Wasabi burger with Wasabi fries. The burger meat was overcooked and was very dry with no flavor. The fries had a weird artificial flavor to them. The parking at this location is also very limited. My advice is don't bother eating here.

Good selection of burgers from beef, pork or chicken. The size of the burgers are way bigger than your McD's or Burger King burgers and you should come hungry. You will be stuffed by the time you finish your meal. Their burgers are one of the biggest I ever ate. I tried the Tokyo Classic this time and it was nice and crispy with a good deep fried crunch to the beef patty with each bite. I only wished it was seasoned a bit more as I was only able to taste the mayo and tonkatsu sauce. They also have a good selection of seasoned fries from sea salt, curry and nori. We tried the nori this time and my gf really enjoyed it since she likes seaweed a lot. I enjoyed dipping the fries in the tonkatsu sauce since it was something I haven't tried before. Something different than dipping in your standard ketchup lol. The size of the restaurant is very small and they have limited seating with only about 7 small tables. This place was always packed when we arrived and when we left. Definitely a place I would come again to try another burger and also their selection of milkshakes.

The server had a corgi on his shirt and my gf has 2 corgis. The burgers were huge and good. Not a place to go if you want solid 6 pack abs but a good place that you would think is kinda shitty from outside. Good once you get inside. Would give it a 5 but it takes a long time to get your food (over 20 min).

My hubs loves this place. I've picked him up a burger sometime last year and for the first time last month we dined in. He ordered a beef katsu burger, as I stuck with the traditional chicken burger. It was yummy! No wonder he loves this place. I kept stealing his curry fries as I ordered the original fries. Don't get me wrong the original is just as great but the seasoning on the curry fries were just delish! Hehe!

This is a really fun place. Burgers were outstanding. Lots of good and really tasty options. My favorite is the Ohayou Gozaimasu. Fries with nori flakes and wasabi sauce tastes like sushi. The curry fries were bomb! The shakes are amazing. The employees are really cool too!! This place deserves 5 stars just for the employees. They play really cool music, lots of anime soundtracks. And there is fun anime and geek art all over the walls. Can't wait to go back!!

First time visiting on 2/17/2015 around 8pm. I was craving on burger for dinner, so I drove 20min. Being the first time here, probably I would go back when I am starving. I was surprised how big/fat the burger was! I couldn't finish whole thing. The burger and service were decent but restaurant was little bit dirty. Time to clean boys! I ordered the Katsu Curry and Shiso fries. Bum sucked oil from Katsu, so it was soggy burger when I got home. I will eat in next time

Being Japanese, when mom made too much tonkatsu I would enjoy a sandwich the next day with the essential chopped cabbage and tonkatsu sauce. I was looking for a meal en route to the airport from Pike Place avoiding I-5 accident traffic and spotted the sign "katsu burger" which immediately brought back memories of those sandwiches so I pulled in luckily - the sandwich was great and the nori fries with wasabi sauce a nice accompanyment. Natural pork cutlet, chopped cabbage, tonkatsu sauce and a slice of tomato. Pretty basic compared to the wild combinations they offer, but I was looking for the real thing at the moment and they delivered. I'd definitely stop there again...

I'd been trying to get my sister here for literally a year and we finally took the plunge into fatty burgers. OH GOD, SO WORTH IT. The burgers are huge. Bigger than you're going to assume, certainly. There are an incredible amount of options to choose from in terms of flavor profile since you can get a variety of katsu cutlets on your burger as well as all the different sauces they have available. The fries are phenomenal, the dipping sauces more so. The real winner? KINAKO CUP MILKSHAKE. I'm not a guy for sweets but this was literally the best milkshake I've ever had; you can taste a strong profile of toasted almonds and they use just the right amount of chocolate to substantiate, not overwhelm the flavor. Ultimately when we come back I think we could probably split a burger, fries and milkshake and be totally stuffed. The price point is reasonable (for fries/burger expect to pay 9-13) and you'll leave waddling.

This place is definitely worth the hype! I got the Ohayou Burger with curry fries accompanied with Tonkatsu sauce. It was the best burger I've ever had. It's a little pricey but definitely worth the money. The burger had an egg in it, which I thought was the perfect touch! There was a lot of shredded lettuce in it but it wasn't overwhelming. The burger was really tall so it was hard to bite into for me but either than that, it was awesome. The fries are really good too but I regret getting the Tonkatsu sauce because it wasn't a good match. The service was really good too. The girl who checked me out was really friendly and helpful when I asked her what was good on the menu. The place and decor is really cute too, but it is a little on the small side. DEFINITELY TRY THIS PLACE OUT! Not with a big ass group though.

The bestest. Maybe a little better than that, actually. Now, of course, if the idea of a deep fried patty repels you, by all means stay far away. But if you suffer from the occasional burger craving but are looking for something a bit different from what you might be used to, go to Katsu Burger, get any of their burgers, and most importantly, don't be stingy by skipping on additional sauces - you'll deprive yourself of the main attraction.

As others have mentioned, Katsu Burger is bomb! I was craving some comfort food... perhaps missing some Hawaii with it being May Day and all, and well you know katsu and burgers, what a great combination. And you know what they say... everything tastes better when it's deep fried to perfection~ So I finally got the chance to stop by this place. I came around 5:30 and the place was empty. But that's not a problem for me as the parking lot is small and the restaurant itself also isn't that big of a space. I also liked that I was greeted right away and the guy who took the order was very polite and provided great service. I ordered the ninja deluxe with an egg along with the nori fries - IT WAS DELICIOUS. The katsu was tender and crisp and even though stuff was oozing out, it was all good. I loved that the bun didn't immediately get all soaked up either and difficult to handle. It's a mighty-looking burger, so worth the ~$10 price tag. The nori fries were addicting too and went great with my burger. Of course I didn't leave without a green tea milkshake = SOOO GOOD. It was like drinking ice cream - totally a good thing! Definitely will be back! I was eyeing out that mt. fuji on the menu... and having seen some pics here on yelp, I might have to try that sometime haha.

HUGE burgers! My top two burgers are the Ninja Deluxe (pork cutlet, american cheese, curry mayo, and tonkatsu sauce) and the Godzilla Attack (beef patty, pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, spicy, and tonkatsu sauce). I guess I need to up my game because I have never been able to finish a burger by myself. They are tasty but very, very big. As if the large burger is not enough, I always need some nori fries. I love shoestring fries and topped off with nori and a dipping sauce, oh no! I'm having a carb attack! If you've got little ones, the Banzai Bites are a good choice. Nice chunks of deep fried chicken and a dipping sauce. But wait! We're not done yet. If the Kinako Cup shake is on the menu, get it. Seriously, get it. My entire family loves this shake! It takes kind of like a peanut butter cup. You will enjoy it, not want to share it, and make slurping noises in the bottom of your cup when you're done. This is likely one of the best milkshakes I've had in my life. Even though I am lactose intolerant, I will always get it and pay the price later. As if the food were not enough, Keiko is extremely friendly, helpful, and engaging. The first time my family and I went there, she brought our food to our table and we had a fantastic conversation. Each time we return, it is always the same. My only regret is that I live in North Seattle and find it difficult to get down to Katsu Burger more often. As some other reviewers have said, pay attention when you are going there as you may miss it, have to spin around the block, and have a hard time finding a parking spot. We've always been lucky to get both parking and a seat when we've been there. The space is small but clean, and charming. My son was asking to go to Katsu Burger last week. We'll have to take a road trip there soon.

I got the curry katsu burger, pineapple green tea shake, and nori fries. I love katsu, I love burgers, I love great tea, I love shakes, I love fries, and I love seaweed.... All I have to say is I sure was a happy girl to get it all. Can't wait to come again!

Let me clear some confusion. Because I was seriously confused. I thought Katsu Burger had regular beef patty burgers cooked on a grill and you could combine it with chicken or pork katsu. No. Even the beef patty is breaded and deep fried. Everything comes up katsu. It was decent, I would have preferred my version. Which I have now trademarked, copyrighted, patent pending and sold to Comcast. They own everything.

Katsu Burger is the truth!!!! So my friend and I were on our way to the Kube 93 Haunted House....he suggested that we stop here for dinner and I immediately said yes because this place has been on my 'to-try' list for a good amount of time. I had the katsu curry burger and....oh...my..goodness...I LOVED it. I was pleasantly surprised at how juicy and tender the pork cutlet was, and was inlove with the flavors of curry mayo plus the cabbage. I killed the entire burger. My friend and I shared nori fries with siracha sauce and they were delicious as well. And of course, me having the big ass sweet tooth that I have, had to order the green tea milkshake in the end to top our dinner. Even that was perfectly delightful! I am taking off one star just because of the service. The two girls that were working were very sweet, helpful, and hard working. No complaints about them, I actually was delighted to be helped by them. The one guy, who I was told was new to the register, was totally the opposite. He seemed annoyed to be taking my order and just plain ole grumpy. He was rolling a cigarette when I was standing at the register waiting to order my milkshake and acted like an ass when he finally took my order. What the hell? Get it together and drop the attitude, man. Anyways, I can imagine myself craving this place atleast once a month, and I am truly disappointed that it is a good drive from my place...buttttttt it may be worth the drive :)

Found this place on Yelp. Told the people I was with, I want to try this place. They go ok. We go there and they are thinking where the heck are we. It kind of looks like we in the ghetto, but not really. Staff is friendly and the burgers are really yummy. Not dry at all and you would think because they fry all the meat on your burger. The Tokyo Classic-beef patty that is super moist and flavorful and has a little bit of crunch Ninja Deluxe-Pork cutlet with bacon and cheese. It was moist and so yummy. They do make it fresh! Hubby got the Mt. Fuji-This burger is insane. It is bigger than my face and it was delicious. Not dry at all. Beef, pork cutlet, chicken breast, american, cheddar, and pepper jack cheese, bacon, wasabi mayo, spicy mayo, and tonkatsu fries. Also get a side of Nori Fries-it's crispy!

Before the new management, the burgers were amazingly delicious. Now it's lost a lot of the flavor, and the patties were charred and burt, just meh. Tis a shame, they used to be so good.

Katsu burger is delicious! We had the golden luau special and the Samurai burger and would highly recommend both. The golden luau has wonderful blend of sweet and tangy with tonakatsu and pineapple. And the samurai burger is loaded with natural beef and bacon.

My friend saw an ad for this in the Sakura Con 2014 guide, and he wouldn't shut up about it. Now that we've both finally got some free time, we decided to check it out today. Despite all the hype, it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. Still, that shouldn't be a factor in determining if the restaurant is good or not. After all, it was a Wednesday evening. Several different types of burgers to choose from in the menu. I was a little overwhelmed, but I ultimately decided on the Katsu Curry burger, since I'm a sucker for katsu curry. I ordered the nori fries and the green tea milk shake as well. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the burger! I'm usually wary of burger joints and their size of their burgers, but Katsu Burger provided the goods. The burger was super tall, and packed with all the different goodies. The Katsu Curry burger was delicious. The pork cutlet wasn't tough and easy to bite, and was perfectly crispy. The curry mayonnaise also gave the burger a nice, creamy, curry flavor. It wasn't overpowering and I felt like it was well rounded. Basically, it was like eating a tonkatsu curry sandwich. Best idea ever. The nori fries were pretty great too. I had some with a side of their wasabi mayonnaise, which didn't have that nose-burning sensation and was a gentle, horseradish-y taste. Complemented the nori fries well. I also had the green tea milk shake. I drank that so fast that I didn't have enough to drink with my meal! Oh well... Very smooth and not too sweet, which is perfect for those with a cat's tongue. Overall, I was satisfied with the meal. The atmosphere was very nice. Incredibly nice staff, and they play old school 90's-00's jams while you eat, which I thought was nice. I'm definitely coming back for more. Mt. Fuji burger, I got my eyes on you.

So, I've often used Yelp for locating restaurants, checking menu offerings, etc. This is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. If I could give zero stars, I would. A coworker's wife recommended Katsu Burger. She'd seen a feature about it on Evening Magazine. Two of us went there today and arrived at about 11:20. There were about six people ahead of us. Takes about 15 minutes to get to the counter; should have realized then what was going to happen. After ordering, we sat and chatted not realizing that no one's order was coming out. We waited about 40 minutes and I approached the counter. After a few minutes she finally acknowledged me and said two orders were ahead. Another 20 minutes and two orders were given out and then someone else's. I asked again about my order and she said there were a couple ahead of ours. At this point I told her it was ridiculous and wanted a refund. She loudly announced to the kitchen, "Cancel Chuck's order. He's tired of waiting!" Like I'd only been there for a couple minutes or something. She NEVER apologized to me or the other customers who waited just as long as I had. I'd really looked forward to trying their food but it will NEVER happen as I refuse to step foot in that place again. Terrible customer service. Be warned.

Had the Wasabi burger with curry fries. Was a little underwelmed by the fries but the burger's portion size was beyond my expectation. The Green Tea milk shake is good too.

This place opened again! I happened to pass by and surprised to see them open so I decided to try. I had Godzilla Attack burger which had fried beef with bunch of jalapeños. I had with nori (seaweed) fries. Meat was juicy and very tasty but had little too much extra sauces than I like. Overall it was an awesome burger with huge portion that I couldn't finish. I would love to see someone try Mt Fuji burger which has 3 patties (beef, pork, chicken) and 3 cheeses, fried egg, bacon.....

This place is awesome. I always get the curry katsu with the curry fries as they never disappoint. The pork is always cooked just perfectly even though it's a fat patty. It's incredibly moist and seasoned so well and the addition of the curry just heightens its flavor. Since the patty is so large it does take a while to cook so it's usually best to call in your order ahead of time unless you have some time. Also, the lines can be a bit long and ordering is a bit of a process so is a bit slow. If you're in the area this is a must try.

I've wanted to try Katsu Burger for the longest time and today on a whim, I did. Best decision I made. The shop was busy and every table was full but we snagged a seat pretty quickly. We ordered the Katsu Curry burger, Ohayou Gozaimasu burger and nori fries with tonkatsu sauce. Oh my gosh. The Ohayou burger was huge, how I finished it...I don't even know. The beef patty was deep fried or something it was ridiculously crunchy (aka delicious). There was bacon, a fried egg, cheese, tonkatsu sauce, shredded cabbage, tomato, and Japanese mayo. It was hard to eat, messy and totally worth it. The Katsu burger wasn't bad but I definitely preferred mine. The nori fries were a little salty but it didn't deter me from eating them. Seriously, come here. Food is solid, service is friendly and the shop is super cute.

I have so happy this great and very unique place has reopened. The food is so cravable! My favorite is the Katsu burger, nori fries with curry mayo and wasabi cold slaw are so good. Yum and delicious say it best and most simply!

I loved Katsu burger before they closed down. Been back three times since they reopened and I have to be honest, the quality and taste has steadily declined with each visit-hence the three stars (tempted to give it two). What's different? 1. The burgers seem to lack breading. Last night, I hardly noticed it compared to before. 2. Burgers aren't as "messy" as before-lack of sauce perhaps. 3. Taste of the sauces has changed (specifically the miso-honey and spicy mayo) and isn't as good as before 4. Size of the burgers/tofu seem to have shrunk. 5. Many items on the menu have been crossed off. What else has or will change? 1. Does the new owner still use organic tofu? 2. Do they still use local/grass-fed beef? 3. Will they continue to use compostible/recyclable materials? 4. Will the prices increase while quality decreases? These changes I listed were not immediate and like I said have been slow and steady. I will probably give it one more chance but honestly, I get the feel that the new owners will be trying to cut costs and therefor cut the quality of once great food!

I think the motto here is "everything to extremes". The burgers are stacked high. You can play Jenga with them. "Godzilla Burger" indeed. The shakes are delicious, if you can get them through the straw. I have to stab mine repeatedly for ~10 minutes before it is tame enough to drink. If you can't bear to wait that long, bring your own boba straw. (Who can be patient when it looks so fine?) Your cheeks will be sore from the effort, but where else when you find a Kinako shake?

You simply must try this place!!!! I am a japanese food fanatic, but you don't have to be to enjoy this place. They just offer the most unique delicious burgers you will ever see! I want to go back SOON. Also, very clean and friendly service! I LOVE YOU KATSU BURGER!!!

Vegans beware! While this place advertises tofu burgers, natural products, and even offers to sub out meat with tofu, nothing they have is vegan. The buns all contain dairy, only one sauce is vegan, and after speaking with the kitchen guys, they cannot recommend that vegans eat there. Now, if you're a carnivore who wants a meaty burger it looked great! The joint was small and packed, food looked fresh and the place was clean. But vegans and vegetarians beware and stay away

Katsu curry burger was da bomb! Seriously, DA BOMB!!!!! It had sesame buns, crispy katsu (pork cutlet), *authentic* Japanese katsu sauce, curry mayo, pickles, tomato and onion. I was going to just eat half because I am trying to lose some weight before the holiday season approaches, but as soon as I bit into the juicy, delicious katsu burger, my plan flew out of the window fast. I finished it all! The flavor combination was so Japanese, I felt like I was eating lunch in Japan! I think we are going back again within a few days :) Hajime did fantastic job on his second restaurant! So delish!! :)

People aren't kidding. The burgers are enormous. I got the Ohayou Gozaimasu and it was more than enough to make me full. The burgers are very unique. They mix a lot of Japanese ingredients that you wouldn't normally think to put on a burger (wasabi mayo, miso honey mustard, tonkatsu sauce, etc.), but it all works pretty well. The nori fries are a good example. They're french fries covered in crushed nori seaweed served with a dip of your choosing (Japanese mayo, wasabi mayo, and other sauces that are not ketchup). You definitely don't feel healthy after eating here, but it's tasty. I would recommend stopping by if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of your way to try it.

I stopped by a couple times after my first try. I wasn't a big fan of the deep fried burger. However, I just have to update my review here after my second and third try! I tried their tofu burger with miso honey mustard sauce. It was so good. The burger was so big that took me over an hour to finish. I know, it's tofu! But, it tasted so good. I also tried their teriyaki chicken burger. It was so good. This time, it didn't take me over one hour to finish. I finished in 20 mins (but, I didn't eat all the buns). And, it's not all about burger. They also have good fries and milk shakes too. The nari fries was awesome. Plus, you have choice of the dipping sauce they provided. I had the curry dipping sauce. It was super unique. I loved it. The pineapple green tea milk shake was seriously amazing. If you feel like there's too much meat, try their wasabi cole slaw. It's different and refreshing!

Eclectic burger joint in a nondescript strip mall. Japanese burgers served by non-Japanese staff with Spanish music playing in the background. Unusual, but it works. Service is friendly. Ambiance is colorful and chill. One could spend a casual evening hangin' with friends while enjoying a comforting meal. Portions are large. Food was delicious. It's worth a visit if you're craving something beyond your ordinary burger.

I like this place. I would LOVE it if they changed the stale bun that goes with the burger. Its all about the BUN BABY. I wonder if they'll let me BYOB?? (Bring my own buns :)) The concept is yum. The nori fries with siracha dipping is tasty. But the bun sucks big time. I've gone twice: had the original Tokyo Original and the Ohayo Gozaimasu. Both good burgers - especially if you are craving japa style. Lines are long but service is swift. They even have a mini selection of Pocky sticks and Japanese green tea candy while you wait. I'll probably come back - as there isn't another place like Katsu. A-OK in my book. (Would be the BOMB if they took 8oz's (Cap HIll) bun and used it here.. just sayin..)

  • Christie P.

I'm seriously giving them a 4 mostly because of their service. I want to love this place because the people seem genuine and were really truly nice, but my burger was just all right. We ordered the Katsu, Classic and Nori fries. I liked the fries and the Katsu was pretty good. But the Classic was kind of disappointing. That damn bun! Way dense and it kept sticking to the roof of my mouth(!), which made me think of wonder bread. All in all, worth a go, but not sure when I'll go there again.

  • Manuel W.

This is a new type of food, a mashup, and my opinion is, not bad! I had a standard burger patty with katsu breading. I think ground beef tastes better with Japanese bulldog sauce. (Meatloaf would be nice.) Get the curry fries. Parking is tough at peak times and they're closed weekends.

Heart attack in a bun but oh so delicious. If you like Japanese food and good burgers you have found your nirvana here. Yes I know it sounds like a weird combo, but it is seriously good. I have to limit myself to once a month visits or else I probably would keel over from eating too much. The curry fries rock and should be tried if you go there for your first time.

Well folks, I'm happy to say that some co-workers and I took it upon ourselves to venture out to the unknown land of Katsu Burger, and the result was... EPIC. Imagine a gigantic deep fried patty burger with katsu sauce, cabbage, wasabi mayo, and somehow, by the grace of some undoubtedy adorable japanese angels... doesn't taste greasy at all! The nori fries and curry fries were bomb as well. I can't wait to go back and to try the green tea milkshake. That may have to be a trip all on it's own. This will surely be a regular "go to" for my co-workers and I, and should be instrumental in getting that extra layer of insulation built on the belly region to prepare for the warm weather!

The moment I heard about this place, I thought to myself, "I have to go here!". I had a day off and wanted something different that my Paleo diet would have discourage me. Comes Katsu Burger. The ambiance and location puts you in the mindset of a teriyaki joint but without the teriyaki offerings. Upon entering from a cramp parking spot, the first thing I notice was all the staff were white! Not that it is a bad thing but it definitely caught me off guard but they were oh so friendly and attentive. Their prices were pricey, especially the two specials, ranging around 17ish. I decided to go with the ninja and samurai burgers. They were huge and the ninja was really really juicy but it felt slightly bland to me. Couldn't speak for the samurai, since I had it maybe an few hrs later and by then that burger tasted like cardboard. Since all I wanted was something in the stomach. The bread was excellent though, It was able to withstand holding it so it wouldn't break/smush when you took a bite. The nori fries were a great twist. Nothing strong but you can tell the nori was their in flavor and visually. I will come back again and try mt. fuji next time with extra mayo/wasbi spread.

Don't listen to my opinion on tonkatsu , since i am no expert. However, my husband's opinion is usually spot on regarding tonkatsu! My husband, who was born and raised in Japan, proudly includes tonkatsu as one of his top 5 favorite things to eat and has eaten at alot of tokatsu restaurants in Japan. In Japan, katsu in a bread form, usually comes as a sandwich using thin Japanese bread slices. Katsu Burger has kept the authenticity of the katsu, but added a US style hamburger spin, with sesame bun, pickles, and mayo. We had the Tokyo Classic and the tonkatsu was thick, juicy and delicious (although my hubby did scrape off the mayo and the pickles). The tonkatsu was perfectly fried. As others have noted, it is a bit spendy and your lunch can tip over $10. However, in our opinion the Tokyo Classic could easily be easily served in a sit down place, so we think it is worth it. The young lady at the counter was super friendly! Also, loved how they have Calpis! We will certainly return during our next trip to Costco!

Not worth the money charged. Ok, this place is definitely not bad but for what you get the value is not good. I paid nearly 15 bones for a Teriyaki Chicken Burger, fries and a drink. For that price it would need to be the most amazing burger and fries I have ever had in my life to return. I would advise getting some food options that put people out the door at a price point between 5-9. You're loosing a huge crowd pricing yourself that high. Parking is pretty limited.

I happened to pass by this place on my way home from the Boeing museum of flight and thought to myself, "interesting name, I've got to try that place out.". I've had Menchi-katsu burgers in Japan but never thought I'd find one here. The Tokyo Classic at Katsu Burger is as good as any Menchi-katsu burger you'd find in Japan except it is much bigger. There are also many other choices of different types of katsu burgers available with different ingredients. You absolutely have to give this place a try. Once you've had a Katsu Burger, you'll find it hard to go back to a regular hamburger. All I can say is Oishikatta yo. Gochisosan.

  • O.H. L.

You will like it if you like everything deep fried and extra sauce. Deep fried pork cutlet "tonKatsu" is good but doing the same thing to a beef patty..not so much. I had the wabi wasabi and really did not taste any wasabi, just drippy mayo. The fried beef patty was also super oily.. The burger was huuuggge and by the time you are half way, the bun becomes soggy from all the sauce. Why does it have to be so big, just not necessary. Fries were good and the dipping sauces were yummy. Overall, somewhat disappointed... Just don't understand whether I am eating sauce or burger.

If you want a burger adventure, or a hot sandwhich you have never had before - this is the place. Despite the name, many of the selections made with beef patties, but I went for the port katsu curry burger. So many flavors, shared it with my wife it was so huge. I love fries two ways - wide and fat, or thin. Their shoestring fries were lightly seasoned with a choice of six sauces - I went for the wasabi aolli and it was fantastic. The coleslaw was nothing fancy - looked just like regular ol' coleslaw but it was fresh, and had nice kick of wasabi. I wouldn't call the prices cheap, but since the burger was so large, the food was so fresh it did make up for it. The lady at the counter says they will be open on Saturdays starting mid January 2012. I'll be back for sure.

  • Thomas J.

A bit out of the way, but worth the trip. The coleslaw had a nice kick to it, and I'd recommend anyone put a bit of horseradish or wasabi in their own recipes to see how it turns out. Super friendly, super fresh, and not-your-ordinary-burger.

Fantastic. It is going to be hard to eat a "burger" at other places as the versions Katsu is putting out are super. Crispy, juicy and flavorful. Great people behind the counter plus some fun food make this place a must when in the Georgetown neighborhood.

Amazing burgers, tried the Ninja, Godzilla and the Samurai, all 3 were equally tasty. Try the pork patty, the beef is good but the pork is great. The curry and nori fries were splendid with multiple dipping sauces. We geeked out on this place so much....the theme song to Battleship Yamato (Starblazers) was playing and the owner was singing along in Japanese. The crew working the counter was friendly. Seating is limited and the location can seem sketch but is is well worth it.

I finally got to try Katsu Burger... after coming here in March only to have the entire south Seattle Grid blow out and not get to try any food. My second try today was far more successful, I went with two friends in town from Korea. Super easy to find right on the corner of 4th and East Marginal Way with plenty of parking in front. On to the food, Katsu is a style of hamburger that is breaded and then deep fried. I had the Samurai Select with bacon, pineapple and tonkatsu sauce. It was super yummy and I was surprised that I would like it as much I did. Now this isn't healthy in the slightest and is probably the worst possible place to go for anyone with a heart or Cholesterol problem. My friends had the Teriyaki Chicken and the Tokyo classic which they both enjoyed a lot. Large burgers which are kind of messy so be prepared to rip your jaw open just to take a bite. I probably wouldn't go super often but definitely recommend trying this spot as it is truly a unique experience.

Upon entering I was hit with an overwhelming odor that had something to do with the newly remodeled interior. I can ignore paint smells and the like, but this was something much stronger. Like burning plastic. It was so strong I began getting a headache while I waited about 20 minutes to get my burger, so I ended up missing my bus back downtown. I also spent $10 on that burger alone. Ouch! Be prepared to drop some serious dough. It may not seem like a lot but this is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall joint in a rundown part of the industrial district in SODO. So I would expect paying no more than your typical teriyaki joint. The girl at the counter was very nice and also quite cute, which always helps. I'm not trying to knock this place -- it has its appeal, especially for those who love Katsu and Hamburgers. I am a fan of both. I'm thinking I'll wait awhile till I feel it's safe not to worry about my braincells depleting. And I'm sure at this point, the place will have its kinks smoothed out. Service will be more efficient, etc. Just gotta give it time. Round two TBD.

Burgers with a Japanese twist. All of the meat (beef, chicken, pork) are breaded (like chicken katsu in a restaurant). Variety of different sauces like wasabi mayo, katsu (bbqish). Regular fries or with seasonings like curry or seaweed.

  • A Q.

Decided to check out katsu burger for lunch today but wasn't counting on the impossible parking (tiny lot), long line, long 86 list (they were out of ice cream, bonzai bites and tonkatsu...thank you for making me the last tonkatsu, though!!!) and extremely limited tables. After circling about 8 times, we snagged parking spots and got in line. Ordered a basic with cheddar cheese (Yum, but wish there was more tonkatsu sauce on the burger and less bun), a ninja burger (tonkatsu with cheddar and bacon - my fav, but also wish there was more sauce and less bun). We got the small combo (add nori fries, one sauce and a can soda) and got an extra soda. We had curry mayo for the dipping sauce which was killer and also good smeared on the burgers. YUM.

A big fan of tonkatsu, I'd been wanting to try this place for a long time. I arrived at noon and ordered their simplest item with tonkatsu (fried pork). This was difficult as everything was described as a huge pile embellished with all kinds of sauces. This is always a bad sign. After I ordered I was told there was no pork. Would I like something else? I selected a burger, although pork is the reason I was there. There was a price difference and they offered to add sauces to make up the difference, but the offer was made a few minutes *after* I ordered and paid for the burger. The whole show seemed very disorganized. Although the place was almost empty I waited over 10 minutes for a very average burger. This is with 4 people in the kitchen jabbering on about their own personal lives. I wouldn't have minded if it was entertaining. There were 3 sauces provided. which I ignored. Sauce is not necessary for a burger. If the burger is good it can stand by itself. It it's bad it should be trashed. The burger was well cooked and served on a nice seedy bun, but why would I ever come back to this place? I've lived in Japan for a decade and can say without reservation that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, Japanese about this place. I admit that I was taken in by the name of the place and seeing it written in Japanese katakana. Given the location I can see how they'd have to try to appeal to the truck-driving lunch crowd, but the crap budget furniture, blaring Country & Western music and stupid interior design just makes it another mediocre Seattle sandwich place. Who cares if the ingredients are organic if you're getting great piles of slopped sauce served by ho-hum teenagers. Another disappointment in Seattle.

  • Larry J.

Okay, great idea, a burger with a Japanese accent. I love American burgers and I love Japanese food, especially Tonkatsu. I was anxious to try this place having seen a bunch of reviews and articles in recent weeks, so I stopped by one recent afternoon (actually I went far out of my way, as I live North of Seattle) to try the place. Also, as I heard it was very small, with limited seating, I wanted to avoid the lunchtime rush. Anyway the staff was very friendly. There were a lot of them back there for 2:30 PM, but there was still a steady stream of customers. I had the Tokyo Classic, as I wanted to try the burger in it's unadorned essence as much as possible. It was okay, not a revelation, I'm afraid. The problem here is that the burger sits a little too uncomfortably between the two extremes of American burger and Japanese Tonkatsu. That is the point of course, but to my mind, this needs to be pushed into the Japanese direction much more. I had it without cheese. Adding cheese to this seems like a big mistake as it makes it too American, though I suppose some will insist on it. I think there were dill pickles on there, another unfortunate concession to the American diner who only knows one kind of pickle. The condiments, Japanese mayo and Tonkatsu sauce are authentic, but mixed together and combined with the slaw stuff on there, didn't produce a very zesty flavor. The burger was pretty good, but with a lot of pink in the middle. Ordinarily, good for a piece of beef, but ground beef might need more time to be safely cooked, IMO. My suggestions for the burger might be to keep the mayo and tonkatsu sauce on opposing sides of the bun, separate, add some kick to the tonkatsu sauce, thicken it up and put more on. A strong wasabi mayo might be good on here as an alternative condiment. Maybe the pickle component could be a sunomono cucumber pickle, like with rice vinegar. The slaw was rather limp. Maybe pickled thin sliced red cabbage would offer more crunch. The fries were very good, crispy and tasty. I skipped the nori this time. Overall, I'm not sure I would go back anytime soon. Even though I tried the most basic burger, it just didn't live up to expectations. On top of that it was a major Gut Bomb. I'm sure I don't want to know the calories involved in a crumb-coated deep fried burger, so I guess you could say it was a bit of a Guilt Bomb for my conscience as well. This is heresy, I suppose, but the burger could actually be smaller and thinner, then it might end up firmer and less likely to crumble while you eat it. Then place more emphasis on the contrasting textural and flavor elements of the add-ons and condiments. And no cheese, that just dilutes the concept. I believe they're still tinkering with things, so maybe they'll refine their concept further. Unfortunately, at this point they're trying to appeal to a too-broad audience by offering a best-of-both-worlds kind of burger and need to embrace the Japanese flavors with more conviction, IMO. I think there's potential here, so I'll be watching what happens. I hope it doesn't end up being a short-lived novelty before they work out the kinks. One last observation is that it's only a matter of time before Guy Fieri and his food porn show, "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" turns up here - this place will be like catnip to them!
