This is the first time I have been to Indo Cafe's new location. I don't know why, but why do they like to hide in the corner? At least the new place has a huge sign right in front of it saying their name... But still if you don't know the area, it is easily missed. Anyways, I think they have stepped up their game here at Indo Cafe. The old place, they were good but for some reason this new place their food is even better! Much more flavorful, and portions seemed to be bigger. They did expand their menu a little, and I am liking it! It adds more choices to the menu, which makes it more complicated as to what to order! Everything just sounds sooo good! Overall, I like Indo cafe! If you like Indonesian cuisine like I do, and don't want to spend a lot, I highly recommend this restaurant.

So I have been here twice. Both times I have been dying for food...on the brink of death type hungry cause of longs days for whatever reason. I came here both times with a buddy of mine and everything we have ordered has come out delicious and in portions that feed hungry people. Each time we have gone we see the place filled with Indonesian students so that just tells yah...they miss home and come here for that home cooked satisfaction!!!

Went there on Saturday night. The place has 4 or so tables empty but it took a long long time to get to sit down. I cut them some slack because they were obviously undermanned with only two waiters (that does taking orders, cashier, greeter, serve and clean up). I had one of the rice dishes (with a name Komplete in it with yellow rice), very tasty. Would definitely come back and try other dishes and hopefully the long wait is not a norm.

Wow! This was my first time trying Indonesian food, and it was absolutely delicious. I tried the Bakmi Goreng Jawa and loved it. Delicious thick noodles stir fried with chicken, garlic, and kecap manis. I ordered mine spicy as it didn't come spicy on the menu, and the flavor was amazing. I would highly recommend anyone that hasn't tried Indonesian food before to come check it out. I'll be back soon to dive into the rest of their menu. Also very attentive service, and really nice low-lit ambience. Prices are extremely reasonable given the quality of the food and the enormous portion I received. Couldn't have had a better experience.

Authentic and oh so tasty! A great staple for flavorful and spicy Indonesian. Love the tuturuga and all the chicken dishes, especially the fried chicken balado. It's the indonesian version of wasabi! We also always have the corn fritters which are tasty, especially with that sweet sauce. The gado gado used to be good but the peanut sauce was runny the last time we had it. You know it's good and cost-efficient when the place is always filled with indonesians, families and students alike!

The ambiance is dark, the food is okay. Friend ordered the fried chicken with spicy sauce - didn't like it too spicy so requested it be less. Got a snicker from the waiter who said it was not too hot - but it was. They could have out the sauce on the side for dipping instead. During dinner, a photo shoot started and cameras were set up next to our table - and the shoot got a little loud with at least 10 people involved making it an uncomfortable situation.

Excellent food and service. Good vegetarian options. The waitress even double checked with us on the eggs. Surprised to find such a nice spot in a weird little strip mall near all the car places

Most of their foods are tasty. The flavor is so strong and varies. I love this place.

I'm really liking the new Indo Cafe location. Very spacious and plenty of AC for you to enjoy during the hot summer weather. I always looks forward to getting those Groupon deals so I can try all the delicious Indonesian cuisine this place has to offer! Just a fair warning, if you order your food spicy, they will make it spicy enough so that your nose will be super runny while you're sweating from all the heat being produced from your mouth. I would stick to a mild spice level if you still want to enjoy the flavor of your food without being overwhelmed from all the spiciness. One of my favorite dishes that I always order is the Kang Kung Cah Terasi, which is water spinach made spicy. I love it! I also enjoy the Tuturuga (spicy beef curry). The curry tastes very rich and flavorful. The beef itself had a lot of tendon, which I didn't mind. I also remembered ordering a chicken dish here once that was SUPER spicy. I could only handle a few pieces before calling it quits, but thankfully my dining buddy was able to handle the heat and finished everything. For dessert, you have to try their coconut pudding. The pudding is served in a young coconut shell, and the pudding itself is delicious and refreshing. I especially enjoy scraping off some pieces of the coconut as I'm eating the pudding. Yum! I also tried their avocado ice cream which was a little disappointing. Although I appreciated that there was real avocado in the ice cream, I noticed that it was a bit icy which didn't taste very fresh. The iced tea that my friend ordered was also served a little too sweet than what she expected, but not a big deal. The people working here are friendly and courteous, and I always had a positive experience every time I ate here. Just be prepared to spice train.

We decided to try Indo Cafe as we were in the neighborhood. It was a Friday night before 6 and only 2 tables were occupied. We ordered Nasi Padang (Ayam Belado and Rendang Sapi) and Nadi Goreng Indonesia. Ayam Belado which is the fried chicken with their house special spicy sauce. It did have quite a spicy kick but it was just a fried chicken leg with sauce on top. Don't expect the crispy skin on fried chicken as the leg was covered with sauce. Rendang Sapi which is the tender dry beef curry. It was tender but very fattening and one piece was all fat. For the Nasi Goreng Indonesia, we definitely had better one at other restaurants. To complete the meal, we had the Es Teler. It had ice in the mix but it wasn't shaved ice even though we heard something like a shaved ice machine when they were making it. Ice were little chunk instead. The server was very friendly and patient.

I've been to Indonesia and Amsterdam, so was really hopeful that Seattle would have an establishment that would fix my occasional Indonesian food cravings. Unfortunately I had a disappointing gado gado lunch, but am willing to entertain that it may have been an off day.

The food here is amazing . Service is good. It's definitely worth a second visit for me. I recommend getting the ice-cream banana dish for dessert.

I happened to be visiting from the Bay Area, and my boyfriend brought a "mystery groupon" in which we didn't know where we were going for dinner until after the purchase... All I can say is that I'm so glad it was this place. The place is located in somewhat of a strip mall and looks rather small from outside, but don't let that deter you, the place is very nice and clean inside. You are able to call ahead and make reservations, and the service is wonderful. I happened to order the combo plate of the chicken in green chili sauce, along with the beef.. So delicious.. I also ordered the beef curry soup and my boyfriend had the beef noodles... Everything was excellent.. So if you are ever in the Washington area this place is a must to visit.

Love this place was introduced here by my Indonesian friend. They were very accommodating to the party of 7 that came with me. Waitress was very kind, all of our orders were brought out at same time. Every dish was very flavorful and huge portions. One of my favorites was the chicken and the fried fish dish. The fried egg appetizer was wonderful. Their drinks were very refreshing and delicious. I would come here again.

Ordered mostly from the happy hour menu. Had the fried wonton with sweet and sour sauce, corn fritters and egg rolls. We did order one entrée, it was under specials. I don't see it on their website, but it was rice cubes in a curry sauce with chicken. It was delicious. We were the only ones there at 5 for happy hour so we had great service.

This was my first time here at Indo Cafe, and I have to say it was just ok. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive. The food was just alright. Started off with the lumpia, they were just ok but the sauce was pretty good. For our meals we had a beef noodle dish that was extremely salty, enough that i had to mix rice with it to bring the saltiness level down. We also had a couple fried chicken dishes were pretty good and the chicken was surprisingly still juicy. For dessert we had the coconut jello, it was made in an old coconut and the meat was sticking to the shell. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to go back there but if i was in the area and was craving Indonesian food, i would maybe stop by again.

Main course foods weren't too great. My stewed beef was on the chewy side and didn't have much flavor, though the dessert was pretty good.

Disappointing. I was looking forward to trying some Indonesian food again, the last time was in Amsterdam several years ago. Unfortunately, the beef in my beef curry dish was too fatty, and the grilled chicken my friend had was two stacked leg quarters, nothing special. The service was friendly, but the satay appetizer came after our entries.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. I came with a friend who spent time on Java. Food was good, and service was very friendly. I had some rice with a type of fried chicken and a fried banana desert. Delicious! The staff talked about where they were from and other cool advice about where to visit in Indonesia etc. They have a lunch menu with super cheap prices too. Will definitely return to try something else off the menu. I really love Mi Goreng noodles, even though the only ones I have had are instant from a package haha. Sadly they are one of the very few authentic Indonesian restaurants left in the Seattle area. I believe the owners are Christians from Sumatra. Loved hearing their stories. :)

I love Indo Cafe! I've been a couple times and just recently visited their new location on Aurora. The parking lot is awful with cramped, tight spaces. I had to adjust 3 times backing out of my spot. I was thankful I didn't get dinged or hit! The food is very good and cheap. Melody P. and another friend and I had dinner here and shared the spicy fried chicken with rice, a garlic stir fried vegetable dish, and the appetizer sampler. For dessert I had the avocado ice cream and had a bite of the coconut pudding and fried ice cream. The avocado ice cream was very creamy and it was evident there were chunks of avocado throughout the ice cream. We cleaned our plates! The service was friendly and it's nice enough inside. It was very busy Definitely a hole in the wall. I look forward to future visits!

Service and food are GOOD. Everything on the menu that is popular is very delicious! The new store is kind of hard to miss, they are tucked in a corner and parking is tight! It is very silly of me but I am a devoted green curry collard greens addict. It is what makes me come back all the time.

My three friends and I came here with a Groupon, which was extremely generous - two apps, four entrees and four drinks (including wine and beer). But then of course, after we started ordering the wine and entrees, we were told there wasn't any fish and certain wines weren't available, etc. Anyhoo, overall I enjoyed two out of the four dishes we ordered. I don't think we ordered the right things, and the dish we had really wanted - Ikan Goredo Balado - was out, as there wasn't any fish. The appetizers weren't bad - Risoles and Bakwan Jakung. The Toge Cah Terasi was just OK. We also got a fried rice and stir fried noodles (I know, what a way to spend a Groupon, eh?) were also OK. I'm sure if we had ventured beyond the starch family with a capital "S" and tried some of the meats and poultry we would've been more pleasantly surprised. The portions were generous and the service good. I would definitely go back and try some other dishes to give this a proper review.

Indo Cafe has given us some good eating times. I feel their portions have gotten smaller and they are definitely stingier with their peanut sauce. But this is our Indo food spot so we will come here. They recently moved and are actually even closer to us, which is fabulous! I was hoping the move would have cured the peanut sauce drought, but that wasn't the case. Under this new location, we have so far gone once and tried: Lumpia Jakarta (veggie egg roll) with spicy peanut sauce. The eggroll was perfectly fried, not too greasy..but the peanut sauce was in a thimble-sized container. One drip of an egg roll and it was gone. This made me very sad. Daging Tuturuga (spicy curry beef stew). Awesome. Just what I needed for my cold. It was spicy, a little fatty from the beef. The beef pieces were super tender. Really enjoyed this with a bit of rice. Mini Rijsttafel (rice combo plate with lots of tasty things) with Redang Beef (dry beef curry). It was really tasty. Lots of different flavors and textures going on. I decided that baby corn kind of freaks me out, but that's unrelated to it appearing in this rice combo. The beef was spot-on. Perfect. If you're fairly hungry, this can feed two people. If you're just so-so hungry, you can probably have a 3rd meal from the order above, which is what we did. We'll be coming back here, but I'm really disappointed that how little peanut sauce we get. Indo Cafe, please consider getting larger containers for the peanut sauce!

Went here with a Groupon and they were very nice and welcoming. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes to get a good feel for the type of food, as neither one of us has had Indonesian food in the US before--it was good! I wouldn't order the mini rijsttafel again as I prefer my foods to be a little more sauce-y. Would definitely recommend the fried chicken ragout appetizer aka risoles (though they were a tad dry) as well as the peanut sauce it came with, which also came with the lumpias. I liked the bami goreng Indonesia, though my partner thought it seemed like it should be a side dish to something else (maybe because the noodles were very very thin? who knows). Overall, seems like a down-home cooking type of place with very friendly staff and people who seemed like regulars welcomed by name. Reasonable prices (appetizers $4-$7.50, mains $8-13), although a bit out of the way. Very easy to find, though, right off of Aurora, and parking right in front.

So far so good. Great selection on the menu with happy hour starting at 4pm and a lunch menu that doesn't deter customers from coming in. Clean environment and great prices for the quality of food. There aren't too many good, true Indonesian restaurants around---many are Malaysian-Singaporean-Chinese mixed which morphs authenticity. Back to my roots---good memories. I found this place online under Indonesian restaurants then yelp had great reviews...and for good reason! Turned out there was also a Groupon for this so add it all up---one great meal!

My boyfriend and I both got nasi goreng Indonesia (fried rice) and bakwan jagung (corn fritters). I ordered the beef fried rice with "no spice," and he ordered pork fried rice with a spice level of 2/5. The prices were very reasonable, and the portions were more than adequate. Unfortunately, my fried rice was so spicy it made my nose run. Typically, when you order something with "no spice," it comes without spice. It wasn't inedible, but it was unpleasant. My boyfriend had the same experience; his "level 2" rice was way spicier than he wanted, and he couldn't eat much of it. The egg and onions in the rice were good, and the beef was kind of tough and chewy, but exactly on par with what I expect in beef fried rice. The consistency of the rice was okay, but it had more of a teriyaki flavor than I was looking for. I wasn't a fan of the onion crackers, either. The edges of the corn fritters were crispy, sweet, and delicious. I wish they had been flatter, like they are in the picture. Since they were so thick, they weren't cooked all the way through, and the inside was still wet and doughy. The service was the worst I've ever experienced. When we arrived, two tables were empty but still had dirty dishes on them. After we waited a while, someone came over and asked if we were waiting to be seated. We said yes, and they said, "just let me clean this table" and took away the plates. Five minutes later, we repeated the process with a new person, who took away the glasses. Five minutes after that, it happened again. This time, they wiped off the table and walked away. After another five minutes had passed, someone finally came over, said "come on," and took us to a completely different table. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready, and it then took a full 30 minutes for the food to come out. 45 minutes from arrival to service is unacceptable. No one ever checked in on us to make sure the food was okay, and my boyfriend's flat soda was empty for about 10 minutes before someone came over and asked "what is this?" before refilling it. It might be possible to get a good meal here, but we won't be back to find out.

Been there twice, this most recent time was nice. Appetizers Sampler; Two Lumpia, two Pangsit Goreng, two Tempe Mendoan, one Risoles served with two special sauces tasted pretty yummy. My favorite was the Ayam Bakar Balado (Grilled chicken with red chili sauce). My wife is from Indonesia, we like to try all the Indonesian food we can everywhere. It's my favorite exotic food when it's done right.

Price: $ Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 I've been here twice now, once by myself and once with a female friend. The food I got the first time was very good; don't remember what the dish was called, but something with hot dogs. Second time I got the beef curry, which was very flavorful. They did a great job of making it crazy spicy, just like I asked, but my only complaint is that the beef seemed like a cheap cut; it had a lot of fat on it, like a stew beef. I would recommend this place though for a lunch or dinner. If you've never had Indonesian food before it's something like a cross between Filipino and Thai food. Try it out for something new!

A jewel on Highway 99! I have been on a quest for Bakmi Goring and found my solution at Indo Cafe. My wife had the Nasi Goring and both were delightful. You have to try the Coconut Pudding, it is basically a coconut with the water firmed up with gelatin and it is delicious! Prices are right, staff is very friendly and the place is very pleasant inside--so don't let the outside deter you. Highly recommend the Indo Cafe

So this place isn't fancy or frilly but boy was the food good! I was really hesitant at first because I'm a little picky and haven't experience Indonesian food before but the waitstaff was really helpful and I enjoyed pretty much everything! There are things on the menu that I probably would never eat but what we did have was sooooo good! And it wasn't badly priced either! Definitely will be returning!

The four stars is for their service and the consistency of the food. The food was good, and their management is great. They can constantly make good and fresh food. I usually ordered the tuturuga, the chicken, and their specials. Ordered some desserts as well, like fried ice cream and coconut pudding, and they tasted awesome. Recommended!

I'm from LA and recently I went to this restaurant when I was on vacation. My expectation was high, since some of the reviewer wrote that this restaurant is the best Indonesian food in Seattle. Sadly, this is the worst one for me, well compared to Indo's resto around LA, this resto would be on the bottom of the list. Everything tasted wrong here, either sweet or salty, nothing else. We ordered: ~ Nasi Campur Rendang, the vegetables that come with it was pretty plain, the corn fritter was sweet (not corn sweet, but sugar sweet), the rendang was hard and too salty) ~ Batagor, I was expected, I got more portion when I order this, but no, only 1 piece of tofu stuffed with meat with alot of cornstarch on it, way too much peanut sauce, was served cold and the peanut sauce was SALTY???? ~ Tempe Mendoan, just plain deep fried tempe covered with flour, taste so bland ~ Nasi Goreng, its basically rice with sweet soy sauce, my daughter barely eat it ~ Ice Cream goreng, the skin way to thick and the ice cream way too sweet ~ Kopi tetes, the waitress didn't even know what kind of coffee, taste very watery All of this came about 76$????? very expensive! This place isn't a good Indonesian restaurant, trust me, my cooking way way better, and I'm not a good cook :D

Normally I don't review a place twice, but I must come back to reviewing Indo Cafe. What an amazing place! We came here a few times after discovering them on Groupon. Every time the food was great and their customer service is impeccable .The prices are super decent and they have a happy hour! I feel like they are welcoming us into their home every time we go there and that alone makes me want to go back.

We got the Mystery Dinner on Groupon. This taught us to never ever do that again. The food was gross, chewy, undercooked, over cooked... It was all over the place! We would never go here again. Also, they really need to kick the Christian music station in the dining area habit while jamming to rock in the kitchen...that was kind of hilarious.

Love this place, and can't believe I hadn't reviewed it yet. We've traveled in Indonesia, and love the cuisine. We've never had a bad meal here and routinely bring friends and family for their first taste of Indonesian food. Reasonable prices and delicious. Well-equipped for kids, even bringing a plastic plate and cutlery for my toddler. Never had Indonesian before? Try beef rendang with either coconut or yellow rice, kwetiao (noodles), the gado gado and perhaps the nasi dish (fried rice) with pork floss.

Glad Indo Café moved closer from their former Northgate site, however, parking can be a pain in such a tiny strip mall lot especially during happy hour and dining peak hours. I've been here several times at their current site in North Seattle close to the Seattle/Shoreline border off of Aurora. Great variety of appetizers, soups, main entrees - featuring meat, seafood, vegetables, rice or noodle based, even a modest version of rijstaffel (Dutch - Indonesian inspired), assorted beverages, and desserts. Other amenities: aside from the main dining area, there's a separate banquet room for bigger parties or rental I'm guessing. Plus this evening a huge catering order was staged and ready for pickup. In addition, they offer personal catering with direct home delivery (rantangan). One thing that has been consistent is that one is greeted fairly immediately and seated with a smile with menus and water given. Spice level can vary, but if all fails and you want it hotter, adjust accordingly with extra sambal chile sauce. In the past, I've ordered the Nasi Uduk Komplit which is their Indonesian coconut rice plate with fried chicken, hard boiled egg with sambal, fried anchovies, and shrimp chip like crackers ($8.95). But twice now I've ordered and enjoyed the Bakmi Goreng Jawa which is a Javanese style stir fried egg noodles with either chicken, beef, pork, tofu or shrimp ($7.95 or $2 extra for shrimp). I've had it with both beef and tonight it was tofu, both nice and tender. Low end of the spice scale, but still had enough heat. My son usually orders Ayam Goreng Penyet ($6.95) - tasty Indonesian style fried chicken with rice and sambal on the side. But this evening he had the Daging Tuturuga ($9.95) which was a huge bowl of Manadonese spicy curry beef stew with a side order of rice and a lime wedge. This was pretty tasty and the beef was very, very tender. Just sampling some rice topped with the sauce was delicious and noted this dish had ample heat. His favorite dessert also is the deep fried ice cream. All of the entrees are plentiful if you are super hungry or enough to take home for another meal. Another thing I've done in the past is to try their several appetizers during happy hour. My favorites include the Bakwan Jagung (Indonesian fried corn fritters) and Pangsit Goreng (fried chicken wontons with a sweet sour sauce). It's good to see that Indo Café seems to thrive versus the two previous Japanese/Sushi type businesses in the past.

The food here is really good. I ordered Ajam Goreng Mbok Berek, and my brother got Nasi Kuning Komplit. Both of us cannot finish our rice dishes (too big^^) but they're delicious and "clean" I would recommend any rice dishes for your main entree. We also had fried durian ice cream which is not like we expected (-1). The wrapper is too thick and there's not enough ice cream inside. However, it's still good for those who like durian. Customer service is friendly and respectful. I would definitely go back.

My bf's mother was raised in Indonesia so we had to take her here to see what her thoughts were. While there were a couple of dishes that could have been better, overall -- we really enjoyed our meal. Appetizers: 1. Risoles: although it was described as a "breaded egg roll"...it was more of a croquette for me (stuffed with chicken ragout). This dish was mediocre at best. 2. Sate ayam: chicken skewers - the chicken was moist but there was too much peanut sauce for my liking. 3. Tempe mendoan: deep fried soybean cake. Very forgettable. 4. Lemper ayam: glutinous rice with chicken floss (shredded chicken), wrapped in banana leaves. It looks bland but it's actually quite tasty (and quite aromatic) Entrees: 1. Ayam goreng mbok berek: Javanese fried chicken. Perfectly golden crispy skin, served with an addictive chili sauce. Order this dish with either yellow rice or coconut rice! 2. Daging tuturuga: Manadonese spicy curry beef stew: The picture looks a lot better. It came out looking quite bare but the beef was surprisingly tender. 3. Rendang sapi: dry beef curry slow cooked in a traditional coconut sauce: this is the BEST rendang I've had in Seattle. 4. Ikan goreng balado: fried fish served with a chili sauce. Skip this dish! It's too much work having to de-bone it. 5. Gado - gado: warm salad with tofu, egg, beansprouts. On par with other gado - gado I've had. 6. Mie ayam special: thin egg noodle with sauteed ground chicken & mushroom. Another dish that looks a bit on the bland side but it's quite yummy! Dessert: 1. Best avocado ice cream and durian ice cream I've ever had.

My boyfriend and I came here on a Wednesday to celebrate our birthdays. Which happen to be 2 days apart. Being that it was a Wednesday the place was pretty slow, which we loved. We had never ate Indonesian food and were so impressed. The food was extremely good and the waiter was super friendly and gave us some recommendations. The only thing I would complain about is the parking is very tight so there was very little parking. We were lucky and did find a spot.

Nothing seems to last at this location. I was in the area and stopped in to try the newest restaurant here. The lunch specials are great ($6.50, can't beat it!) and the service is fast. I had something similar to fried rice with large pieces of pulled chicken. It was spicy and delicious. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

About five years ago, my Indonesian friend had recommended that we go here for lunch during one of our road trips. Sambal telur (egg sambal) and Nasi goreng (fried rice) were so authentic!!! Moving to Seattle, I forgot that this place existed until my old roommate visiting town suggested it. The Sambal Ikan Goreng (fried fish with sambal sauce) satisfied a craving that was festering since my vacation to Jakarta/Bali three years ago.

Indonesian food in Seattle!? Bought the groupon deal and gave this restaurant a try and wow! I'm glad I gave it a try! Ordered the nasi Padang, rendang (slow cooked beef curry), and gado gado for two people. Yummy! These dishes are delicious, salubrious, and filing. Restaurant is clean, cozy, and there's free parking! I highly recommend this place!

Came here with a small group and we ordered quite a few things. The customer service was quite nice, the place is a nice little Indo restaurant as mentioned in its name. Their servers are relatively nice and attended to everyone's needs. The food actually taste great compared to other Indo restaurants I have been to. Give it a try.

Living pretty far from the north, I would only come to Indo cafe on certain occasions. The last time I visited was before they moved to their new location. My experience with their last location is always very satisfying, with their service and all. However, my last trip to their new location changed my perspective... I arrived with my party of three on a Friday night. We had waited about 15 minutes before getting acknowledged, and another 20 minutes to get seated. Was the restaurant full? No, just a bunch of Indonesian kids waiting to pay for their meal and gathering around the cashier, taking their own sweet time. However, that is normal. What's not normal is when the waiters, knowing that there are a lot of people waiting to be seated, are just having the time of their life behind the cash register counter, talking and laughing like there wasn't anyone in the restaurants. Their service really degraded the whole expansion; even when they have a bigger, newer location, their service has deteriorated A LOT. Imagine this, I had to wait for about 30-40 minutes JUST to get a table and another long wait for them to take my order, which they ended up screwing up as well. Expanding a business is tough, however I am pretty sure the owners should have more sense in hiring more professional and efficient workers, maybe even hiring one or two more waiters wouldn't hurt. Especially on a Friday night, when restaurants are supposed to be packed. Honestly, I think only one of the waiters is doing a decent job in keeping up with everyone's demands. The others were just chatting away with each other. Being Indonesian, you would have thought that I would be bias towards this restaurant, and believe me, I am trying to. I had ordered from their catering services for my birthday once and it was very delicious. However, their quality of food is now mediocre at best. We had the specials for the evening which was Nasi Bali, Ayam Taliwang, and Kwetiau Sirem. I have to admit though, their kwetiau sirem was fantastic. However, that just does not justify my unsatisfying visit to Indo Cafe. Indo Cafe, you really really really need to improve on the service of your waiters. For now, I won't be visiting anytime soon.

They've MOVED! Same amazing food though! Parking - ehhh - kinda a small lot - maybe 10 spots, I got lucky 'cause another guy was just backing out. Ambiance - The location itself is not as nice as their old Northgate one - I mean, from the outside, the inside is fairly similar to their old place - rather spartan, dark, clean - tall bamboo sticks stuck into lava rocks. Not really big, but they've got a closed off room for groups. They've got a TV up showing pics of their food and what looked like touristy clips of Indonesia. Service - Very friendly - they really want you to like their food. Food - down to the important stuff. We ordered Ayam Goreng Mbok Berek - 2 fried chicken hind quarter - very good, but if you can handle spicy, I think the Ayam Goreng Balado is even better - has more flavor but it's REALLY spicy! You have to get the Kang Kung Cah Terasi - water spinach (or Chinese spinach) - the shrimp chili paste sauce is amazing with it!!! It's a little pricey $10 for a smallish dish, but worth every penny. We tried something different this time the Daging Tuturuga - beef curry stew - my hubby couldn't stop raving about it! It tastes a lot like Indian curry with some coconut milk. It was a stew but tasted great over rice. And the Nasi Goreng Indonesia is still a staple for my 7 year old - he ate almost the whole plate and the portion size for that is huge! Recommendation - Yum! Definitely give this place a try!

Growing up as a Dutch-Indo, I ate a lot of Indonesian food growing up, but it was all homemade. It was nice to find a restaraunt that served homecooking. Good as Oma!

Agreed with Anthony S' review - ghetto looking from outside but nice in the inside. Parking is very limited. The noodle with triple layer pork is sooo good! 1st time I saw fried rice made from yellow or coconut rice. Portion is huge, can be share by 2 persons. For dessert, try the avocado ice cream. For those who like spicy food, I saw a lot of Celebes dishes which are pretty famous for their spiciness. This place also has a separate room for private party.

Only visited once but enjoyed the place. Lots of choices on the menu and helpful staff to help with choices. There is also a nice presentation on the monitor of Indonesia travel photos, along with dishes from the restaurant. If unsure what to order have a look up there! Also something to watch with some nice photography while you eat so pick a seat where you can see.

Authentic chicken Satay and all other Indonesian dishes. I feel sorry for those with peanut allergies. Their Mie Ayam special is one of my faves though if you can handle spicy, you'll probably like their spicy dishes too. Their staff is always friendly and at your service.

Always like to try new places. I liked atmosphere and service food was good. Only thing I didnt like was coconut pudding. Put geletin in coconut water had no flavor looked good. Came in coconut shell.

We were going to just stop and get bubble tea one afternoon, but the bubble tea place closed. Again. However, we saw Indo Cafe tucked into the corner, grabbed a menu, and several days later when none of us could decide on a place, we decided to come check it out. Indo Cafe is a cute little Indonesian place. I tried the Soda Gembira, which was actually pretty tasty. Sweetened condensed milk sounded a bit odd, but I gave it a try and I'm glad I did! The Appetizers Sampler was a nice was to try out this cuisine we'd never tried, and we like pretty much all of the items on it. My sister had one of the soups and it wasn't great. The soup had lettuce in it, and just sort of tasted like lettuce beef broth. My brother got some sort of meat dish, which was pretty decent. I believe I got the Bihun Goreng Indonesia, which was delicious and my siblings kept sampling some of it! As for the restaurant itself, it was nicely decorated, the servers were great, and the bathrooms looked really nice and were clean. We will definitely be coming here again!

I'm really debating to either give the restaurant a 2 or 3 stars. Ambiance: 3 stars, new & clean, but no heater, so my family and I had to wear our jackets the whole time while dining in. So we were in because I bought a Groupon deal, otherwise I wouldn't have known the place. The menu comes pictures that show most dishes that are supposedly more popular. Since we are not familiar with Indonesian cuisine, so we ordered everything with pictures on the menu. *Nasi Hainam (Hainanese Chicken Rice) 8.95 I don't recommend it. I always get this at Malaysian Satay Hut, and it's delicious. But at Indo Cafe, It came with a piece of small chicken thigh and deep-fried, which is totally wrong. The picture didn't show it was deep-fried and it was dry. Not worth the price. *Ayam Goreng Balado 8.95 (Fried chicken simmered in our special spicy sauce) Average. It came with two deep-fried chicken thighs and a side of rice. The chicken wasn't marinated and the flavor was only on the outside with their "special spicy sauce) *Nasi Goreng Indonesia 7.95 (Indonesian style fried rice) We ordered it with beef, but they were really tough. Fried rice was sweet, we thought that was interesting. *Bakmi Goreng Jawa 7.95 (Javanese style sweet stir-fry egg noodles) The noodles were fine, but nothing I would say special about them, and the chicken was better than the beef we had for this dish. Overall experience, I thought the service was fine, but definitely needs to turn on, fix or more heaters for the restaurant. We had four people in our group, none of the dishes were finished. Anyway, I don't think I will return unless I was in the area to give it another try.

We may not be fans of Malaysian food if this is an accurate sample of what the country has to offer. We've eaten here and when they were at north-gate mall neither times were either of us all that impressed. We both agreed the closest thing to compare it to is street food, and for the price I was hoping for better. The place is clean but not warm, and the people are nice.

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while after craving Indonesian food, and when they started having a Groupon, it was too good of a deal to pass up. I actually came here twice, and overall, really enjoyed the experience. Decor: The decor here is tasteful - it helps give the space some ambiance, and livens it up. It's a little sparse in some rooms (slightly funny room layout), but overall I haven't sat anywhere I was upset about! It's clean throughout as well. Service: The first time I came in, they were slammed. I was pleasantly surprised it only took them ten minutes to seat my party of two. Impressive. Both times I had very efficient service, regardless of how busy they were. The first time, since they were a bit more slammed, we had a bit of a rotation of waiters, but we didn't have any issues with the service in spite of that. Ordered quickly, food arrived quickly, etc. The waiters were very nice overall. Food: I've been craving Indo food, so I'm biased. But I like it a lot! They don't mess around with spice. They will make it very seriously spicy. But, I like that. The first time I came I had only vegetarian dishes, with the Mie Gorend Jawa, and some dish I cannot remember the name of that involved shrimp paste and bok choy?. In spite of my hesitations about the bok choy, it was actually addictive and quite good. The Mie Goreng was quite good as well, with a good amount of egg and veggies mixed in. The second time, I had Mie Goreng again (still good), and Tuturang (sp?) beef. The beef was PHENOMENAL! Great depth of flavor, really spicy yet had other flavors as well. Highly recommend it. Price: I had a Groupon, so hard for me to say. Not super cheap, a little more midrange without a Groupon. The Groupons are a sweet deal though - totally enough for two entrees and an appetizer for two people. Bonus note: When I was here on a Sunday they had a live gamelan performance going on! Super awesome, made for an interesting and enjoyable dinner performance. Overall, I'm a fan of this place.

I have had quite a bit of authentic Indonesian food these last few years. Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. The food was amazing and the service was very friendly. We had lots of leftovers and got to do it again the next day. :) We'll probably get another Groupon if still available.

The new place decoration is much better, and nice. It is located on really busy part of Aurora though, and it is very challenging to get to if you come from opposing traffic. We come here once a while, when we do not feel like cooking and really want Indonesian dish. We feel the quantity is getting smaller, and the dressing or sauce is becoming less and less. We came after the lunch crowd, and the food came out really slow. I think the kitchen and the waitress were taking their break. This was the only place to go to get Indonesian food before. Now there are other options, such as Waroeng Jajjan, and Joko's.

One star off due to poor parking space and because they got rid of their rewards cards system. This was much more accessible by bus when it was located in Northgate, but whatever. Aside from that, phenomonal service and delicious food. I could care less whether it's authentic Indonesian. Whether it's Americanized or not, it's good. I recommend their appetizer sampler, so you can get a feel for a variety of Indonesian appetizers. If you are a carb lover who likes thicker noodles, I would recommend the bakmi goreng jawa. The noodles are similar to Japanese yaki soba noodles, but firmer in texture. It has some kinda Indonesian sauce that's really savory. I didn't like the kwetiau goreng indonesia noodles, because they were flatter and soggier in texture, and the sauce was bland.

Two words: FOOD POISONING. I went there yesterday and my body so violently reacted to the food that I ended up throwing up in the restaurant bathroom and spent the rest of the night throwing up. I still have a high grade fever and hourly diarrhea, which is a thankful 'upgrade' from the events of last night. I think it was the peanut sauce in the spring rolls which I remember tasted a bit rotten - I've eaten that dish many times elsewhere and wondered why it tasted funny. I could be an exception but after experiencing the terror of the past 24 hours, my advice to you is - DONT TAKE THE CHANCE. Its just not worth the pain. I don't really remember how the food tasted but one of the thin spicy noodle dishes was quite decent, one with thick noodles tasted bland and a bit uncooked. UPDATE: I checked with my friend and she got sick as well - just not as violently bad as I did. So yeah. There you have it. Skip it!

I give this place 3 stars. I really liked the atmosphere. It had that modern asian look to it. However, the service was too slow. Decided to come here to use a Groupon that I had purchased. The person who sat us heard of the Groupon, but didn't know the procedure for it. So then another server with a little more knowledge waited us. We ask for her recommendations and she suggested to get a few appetizers because it was happy hour ($3 appetizers & desert from 4pm - 6pm). So we ordered 3 appetizers: the Bakwan Jagung (corn critters), which was good, Batagori (tofu & processed chicken topped off with peanut sauce), which was horrible, and the Pangsit Goreng (won ton), which were good. Then we ordered Rendang Sapi (rice, fish chips, and slow cooked beef, which is not on happy hour menu), which was tender and good. Then to top it off, we got the Es Krim Goreng (ice cream wrapped in a lumpia wrapper and deep fried), which the wrapper was so hard that we had a hard time cutting it with a knife and it had this spoiled taste to it. As far as service goes, the food came out quick and the staff was nice. But my water was empty about 30mins. of the 45mins. we were there. It got refilled once and that was me asking for more water. We were waiting for out waiter to bring our check, but come to find out, our waiter went home. So we walked to the front to pay out. Then the guy tells us...sorry to tell you, but the person who was waiting you didn't know about the Groupon policy and that it does't cover the happy hour menu. I was pissed, but I didn't say anything. I'm sorry to hear that your'e staff isn't trained properly and that you are gonna have to eat this cost. I'd say next time, but there won't be one.

This was our first time trying Indonesian food and Indo Cafe did not disappoint. Based on Yelp review recommendations, we had the Javanese chicken and dry beef curry - both were quite flavorful. The restaurant was spacious and clean. Service was friendly although I did have to request a refill. The location is bit tricky to find and out of the way from where we live. However, if we are in the neighborhood next time, we will stop by and try some of their other dishes.

I don't know what happens to wonderful ethnic restaurants that get great press and then for some incomprehensible reason decide to skimp, shuck, phone it in. I loved this place once upon a time in it's old location long ago. And so did friends native to the Netherlands ( who know Indonesian). Now, greasy and cool food, virtually no vegetables in the dishes that are supposed to contain them, a flavor that is just hot. I got myself an Indonesian cookbook and am making much better at home.

I am mixed on this review. Here is why. Outside, mall is trashy and parking is difficult. Inside is a very nice, clean, well put together establishment. The appetizers were not that good, but the entrees were exciting and delicious. The coconut pudding was not really pudding, more of a hard coconut jellie, but it was sort of cool how they put it together. I ordered tea, they brought one small cup that was barely a few swallows. Every time I wanted more, I had to wait for them to come get cup and refill. Why not just bring out a little pot? Prices are very good. Would I go there again? Maybe. If it was convenient. But I wouldn't go out of my way.

This was a great little place. We never tried Indonesian before and wanted to try something new. This turned out to be a good choice. I read a while ago that surprisingly strip malls are a good place to find great food. There is a lot of competition and since you have to drive specifically to go to a strip mall all the places that survive have really good food. That fits Indo Cafe exactly. The service was really nice, we felt really welcomed. The food was good, lots of spicy curry kind of dishes with a bit of a tropical twist. Even tried a dessert, which was very unusual and delicious. Highly recommended!

My wife and I just visited Indo Cafe using a Groupon - we will for sure be repeat customers. We had the Gado-Gado, beef rendang, and ayam goreng. They were all freshly prepared and beautifully served. Having lived in Malaysia and Indonesia for a couple of years, I am somewhat familiar with Indonesian cuisine and the Indo Cafe is very good. Service was very sweet and attentive.

Had some great Indonesian food while in Amsterdam in the past and have been searching for something to fill that craving. Indo Café did a great job and is someplace I can go in the future as the craving hits! Had the lumpia appetizer and a Mini-Rijstaffel for lunch and everything was tasty and just the right amount of food.

I always drive by this place on the way to work and I've always been curious about this place. I decided to go today for lunch (I was too lazy to cook). This restaurant is on aurora ave and its in a ghetto looking area (Big Kmart nearby....). Don't let the neighborhood area fool you about this place. You feel like you're not on Aurora Ave anymore the second you step into the restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and very clean. They did a very good job in making the place look and feel like a more expensive restaurant instead of the typical cheap Asian restaurant on Aurora. There are plenty of tables and the staff are attentative and polite. The female staff the worked on 12/11 was spoke very professionally which I was pleased (They don't talk to you casually and a "whatever" attitude like some other places on Aurora Ave). The customer service and the restaurant environment definitely increases the appetite to eat. I first thought Indo Cafe (It looked like "India Cafe" from a faraway) was Indian but I realized it was Indonesian. This was my first time eating Indonesian. I ordered a meal that had beef, spicy boiled egg, a good amount of vegetables, and yellow rice. I also ordered Jasmine tea. The meal was very delicious and not greasy at all. It tasted very fresh and I felt really good leaving this place. I would have been a lot more pleased if some portions of the yellow rice wasn't a little hard (I'm assuming it was sitting for a while...). Other than that this is definitely a restaurant I will definitely come back very soon. If you feel like having a good Asian meal, forget the typical teriyaki shops and go here.

Indonesian food has become my favorite type of food, thanks to this restaurant and the not-quite-as-good Joko's Cafe. Unfortunately, there aren't many options for sit-down Indonesian. Indo Cafe is great. The very first time I went, before they moved, they looked a little surprised when I walked in because I was white. I've been about 5 more times over the course of a few years, and they haven't done that since. I'd go at least once a month if I didn't live an hour away. Every time I'm there, the waiter is super friendly, willing to chitchat a little bit between tables. The food is amazing. I haven't had a single dish there that I didn't rave about. (And I've stolen food from my friends that were there too, so I've sampled a fair bit of the menu) With regards to the reviews claiming poor service, I've never experienced that. However, I've almost always gone on weekends an hour or so before the dinner rush. Even so, I haven't seen them give anything but excellent service to everyone, even during their busiest hours. I do get the sense that there aren't very many employees, so I could see how during peak Friday meals, it might not be enough, but I'm extremely skeptical of the reviews that claim they were downright rude. The worst I've seen is when they came by to give the bill once, they took the card, came back 5 minutes later to say no American Express, came back 5 minutes later to get the new card, and then took another 5 minutes to bring the copy to sign. I think at that point the waiter was starting to feel a little flustered because people kept coming in and he had to multitask. I don't blame him for it; he was friendly and clearly trying his best.

Went for dinner while I was in Seattle, great Authentic Indonesian dishes. Service was excellent, Vian(?) he was awesome! very friendly and professional. I had nasi uduk and Chicken sate, the only thing I have to say is the sate, wish they use white meat instead. The peanut sauce was spot on as I remember how it was in Indonesia. If you're happened to be in the Seattle area and looking for a place to eat, go here, can't go wrong, even if you don't like Durian ;) Btw don't be shy to ask for more sambal Eh.

Randomly decided to come here after work and I'm glad I did! The food was so bomb! And the service was great, fast and friendly! Me and my friend ordered the pangsit kuah and bihun noodles. We've been going to Indo for several years now and I've been remiss in writing a much-needed review for them! Service has always been solid with clean tables and excellent food. Speaking of their food, we've enjoyed many dishes here so I'll namecheck some of our favourites: * Gado-Gado - an Indonesian-style warm salad with tofu, boiled egg slices, and krupuk. If you love peanut sauce, this salad is topped with their homemade peanut sauce! * Toge Cah Terasi - stir-fried bean sprouts and fried tofu with spicy shrimp chili paste. Vegetarians can request no shrimp paste but I'm unsure if they can guarantee it to be vegan. * Bakwan Malang - a soup made with fine rice noodles in a light broth with wonton, tofu, and meatballs. I've enjoyed this when I was feeling under the weather and it was wonderfully soothing. * Bakmi Goreng Jawa: a delicious Javanese style sweet stir-fry egg noodles with your choice of protein. We opt for chicken or beef, but I can also recommend the fried tofu. This dish is my husband's favourite. * Rendang Sapi - a tender dry beef curry slow-cooked in coconut sauce with egg and topped with krupuk. * Ayam Goreng Mbok Berek - Javanese fried chicken topped with deep fried crispy crumbs. * Nasi Gila Menteng - this is also listed on their menu as "Crazy Rice" - stir-fried chicken, turkey frank slices, and beef meatballs in special sauce over rice topped with krupuk. This is MY favourite! Several of their menu items are offered as rijsttafel (literal translation to "rice table"). Basically imagine a combination plate and that's basically what rijsttafel is. Their HH menu is small but if you love their Bakwan Jagung (corn fritters) or Pangsit Goreng (fried chicken wonton), you can snag those for a mere $3 each! There are also some desserts on the HH menu like Pisang Goreng (fried banana) and Es Cendol, one of my favourites made with green rice gelatin, jackfruit in coconut milk, and Javanese brown sugar. I can only think of one downside to Indo Cafe: they share a parking lot with a couple other shops so parking can be scarce when they are busy. No wait, they don't deliver... but then again, that could be a boon to our wallets.

Woooooooow, how did I not know about this place all my life?!? I was craving Indonesian food and was searching on Yelp. We came here since it opened late and I'm so glad I discovered this place. It was definitely a drive from our place but well worth it. I got the Nasi Padang which is a mixed rice plate with collard greens. I'm not a huge fan of vegetables but the collard greens was good. I had redang which is like slow cooked beef and their crispy fried chicken for my son. We're all pretty picky with our food but my son really liked the fried chicken and ate most of it! I really enjoyed the redang, it reminded me of my friend's grandma who used to make it. Indo Cafe has great comfort food.

Seriously an amazing authentic place! The service is always so friendly and fast! I always get the chicken bihun goreng Which is amazing! But lately I've been getting he veggie bihun goreng it's amazing and it comes with tofu!! Never thought I'd like tofu until I had this dish. I have probably had this like 2 days in a row and now it's my 3rd lol. Great to bring to work for leftovers cause I assure you there will be leftovers!! They give you huge portions, although I'd be cool if they included a scoop of rice with the meal you do have to order that separately . However you don't even need rice! They have cool rice options! Yummmm

I finally got a chance to eat here! I've had this place bookmarked for so long. My bf and I both got the combo plates. I got mine with the fried chicken with green chili sauce and my bf got the beef rendeng. The waitress said the green chili sauce was the spiciest variety they had. I eat very very spicy foods and I can handle it because I'm pretty sure I've burned all my taste buds off. My nose was running but my tongue was not registering how spicy it truly was. My bf had ONE little taste of it and got mad that I had even given it to him. He wouldn't eat any of my chicken even though I scraped off the sauce for him. I loved it. The chicken was perfectly fried with a thin crispy skin. I also really liked the corn fritter. The beef rendeng was delicious -- meat was tender with just a hint of coconut. For dessert, we tried the es teler. It had crushed ice with pandan flavoring, jackfruit, coconut meat, and a green jello. We both loved it.

I've been coming here for about 5-6 years, back to when it was still in NorthGate. The food is truly amazing, very authentic! Can't go wrong with anything on my the menu really. I love the beef stew, although wish it was more 'stew-y' than 'soup-y'. Ask for coconut rice to go with it! Rendang Sapi is always great! My only note to management is the ridiculous $1 charge for a tiny extra house hot sauce. Really!? I'm spending $35 and you charge me $1 for a tiny little container of sauce??! Either bump up the size, or do the 0.25-0.50 cents like all other restaurant do. $1 just feel disrespectful for the amount you get. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the food IS amazing and always hits the spot!

About as legit of Indonesian food can get. This is coming from native Indonesian. Without a question, the yellow rice with friend chicken and sambal taste exactly like what you will get at a restaurant or food trucks in Indonesia.

Delicious food, good pricing and friendly staff! The holy trinity of good yelp reviews! lol The plaza that this restaurant is located in looks a little unappealing and parking can tend to suck, but it's worth the visit for the FOOD! You can get a payday loan, haircut, your nails did, a prepaid cell phone AND a 40 ounce all in the same plaza. OK, on to the food... For my main course I ordered the "Ayam Mbok Berek" which was a rice plate that came with fried chicken topped with some crispy bread crumbs, a corn fritter, coconut rice, and some veggies. The chicken was delicious and definitely hit the spot. It was a bit of a carb overload, but a good one. Haha! I also tried out the "Soda Gembira" which was a specialty drink consisting of club soda( i think?) some type of fruity syrup and condensed milk...bomb! The service here was also great. Our server was very friendly and answered my many food related questions. =) *they have a somewhat private and seperate dining area that is able to accomodate a large party which is always nice!

I have been wanting to try this place because I think this is the only Indonesian restaurant in the area. The interior actually was surprisingly good since the exterior of the restaurant did not look appealing. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and patient with all our questions since we have no experience with Indonesian food. It was disappointing that they ran out of beef rendang. I ordered the Mini Risjttafel Ayam Bakar Manado, a spicy grilled chicken and the my GF ordered the Mini Risjttafel Ayam Bakar Kecap, the sweet soy sauce chicken. The meals went with a corn fritter, spicy boiled egg, and some veggies. I actually liked the spice in my ayam bakar manado. However, the spice was a little overpowering and I think other than the spicy sauce, the chicken itself was not marinated or flavored. The skin got soggy from the sauce. My gf's sweet soy sauce chicken tasted very similar to the chicken barbecue we have in the Philippines. The food was not bad but I was just probably expecting something more. They tasted a little plain other than the spice from my chicken dish. They have several selections and maybe the seafood or beef selection could have been better choices, or even the noodles or fried rice. It took me a long time before my GF finally agreed to try this place. Maybe when I can convince her again, I would try some of the fish or beef.

This place is the bomb! So many good options to choose from, very good portions, fairly priced, fast and EXCELLENT SERVICE. We ordered the chicken wontons and corn fritters which were fried to perfection. We also tried the fried chicken simmered in special spicy sauce which was delicious but on the very hot side which the menu did warned us. I highly recommend to upgrade the rice to coconut, is amazing!! The perfect ending to the meal: fried banana with ice cream, simply delicious!

Best Indonesian food in the area. Even if you're not sure if you like Indonesian food, if you like Indian, Malaysian or general South East Asian Flavors, you're likely to enjoy something from the menu here. My favorite is the Masi Pdang mixed rice with beef rendang and one of the spicy chicken dishes.

My husband and I used a Groupon (first time here) and our server was seriously the sweetest guy! He was super helpful in explaining the menu, what to combine, top picks, etc. and we weren't disappointed! I got the fine egg noodle dish (can't remember the name) and he got the beef curry (which had the consistency of a melty pot roast. YUM!) The Happy Drink was fizzy and fruity (more like a desert) and the fried banana and ice cream was also AMAZING. Very reasonable prices, tasty dishes, clean restaurant, friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

I've been coming to Indo Cafe for years and the food has always been consistently delicious. I think if you're unfamiliar with Indonesian food, some dishes may seem strange and take some time to get used to. Some items are just an acquired taste, like the empek-empek palembang, a savory fishcake made of fish and tapioca, stuffed with a hard boiled egg, served with yellow noodles and a dark, rich sweet and sour sauce called kuah cuka (like a vinegary sauce). I don't recommend this for beginners. Over the years, my favorites here have been the nasi padang, which comes with collard greens and your choice of beef rendang and one of three types of chicken (ayam). There's ayam cabe ijo (chicken with green chillies - very spicy), ayam balado (fried chicken with spicy and sweet red sauce), ayam goreng (plain fried chicken) or ayam kalio (chicken in a curry sauce like rendang sauce). Get the beef rendang and ayam kalio. This combo would be a good representation of a nasi padang dish and is delicious. I think the nasi padang is better than the mini rijstaffels. I'm not a huge fan of the green beans and corn or the corn fritters that come with that dish. The kangkung cah terasi (morning glory stir fried with belacan / shrimp paste) is delicious and spicy. I like to pair it with the ikan goreng balado (whole fried fish topped with sweet spicy sauce). The bihun goreng (fried rice noodles) is tasty, made Indonesian style with sweet soya sauce, so the noodles are on the sweet side. For dessert, the cendol (pronounced chen-dole) gets 3 stars. The ice shavings should be more fine - they are too coarse. Parking is limited but free. Service is very friendly and I've noticed that they are patient with patrons who need help navigating the menu. If you order the 'right' things here, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I drove up from Covington on a Groupon dinner adventure deal. The place was not what we expected. The main dining room was a bit run down and unkept. The food on the other hand was great. My wife had a green pepper chicken that was very spicy but flavorfull at the same time. I had a beef noodle dinner that was delicious. We got the avocado ice cream that we were worried was not going to be very appetizing. We both enjoyed it very much. The waiter even brought us a sample of the durian ice cream that was also nice but with a bit of an onion after taste. I should mention that our waiter was very good at helping us pick out our meals. This was a new cuisine for us and he made it so comfortable and pleasant. Even though it's not a first date níght type of place, it's definitely a place for great food. It's not expensive so bring the whole family.

One word: AUTHENTIC! Sate ayam, Bakmi Goreng Jawa, Nasi Uduk komplit with sambal are especially delicious! Taste just like they do back home in Indonesia. Also ordered es cendol, which was delicious but the green jelly in it was on the tougher side and I didn't like the way they put ice cube in it to keep it cold. Still delicious, nevertheless! Will definitely come back! We ordered 1 appetizer, 1 drink, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert for a total of $35 (before tip). Very good pricing, I must say!

Until 45 minutes ago, I had never tried Indonesian cuisine. I'm open to whatever and since Indonesia is in the same part of the map as Thailand, it couldn't be too bad. My partner on the other hand is quite picky so this was going to be a hit-or-miss. We walked in and it wasn't too busy. It's got an upscale but casual vibe, quite contrast to the building it's in. We were warmly welcomed and sat, offered drinks, and the menu is full of pictures to help you figure out what you want. These aren't your average pictures like the ones you'd see in the many teriyaki spots in the city, but high quality images that make the food look good. We weren't sure what to start off with so the server recommended the combo platter but told us that they were low on a certain item and offered a substitution. My partner asked for the corn fritters because of a good review on here about them. And the server made it happen. So. Good. Everything from the fritters to some deep-fried meat pocket thing. We got a rice dish that was like curried fried rice with chicken and pork floss (which is like bacon jerky with a cotton candy texture). The noodle dish we got (the first one listed on the noodle section) was amazing! It was perfect. But so much food... We ended up taking the remaining two-thirds home for lunches and dinners. Great service, great prices, great food! I joked with my partner: "If this is how Indonesian food really is, we need to go to Indonesia!"

I've never had Indonesian food in the US so this was a first. The staff was friendly and helped me pick something. I thought it tasted pretty authentic.

Just as I expected. The food is so good, its just little bit too spicy. Its way spicer than "american spicy". But overall, its a nice place to go for Indonesian food.

This place is not at all as expected from the outside. The cafe was clean and has a nice ambience. We ordered pempek, siomay campur Bandung and ayam bakar manado. The pempek consists of lenjer and kapal selam. You can taste the fish in the pempek, which is rare since at a lot of places, they put too much flour/corn starch. The siomay was great too, with exception that the peanut sauce was a bit too thick and sweet. We didn't particularly like the ayam bakar manado, it feels like it has too much tomatoes in the sauce and the seasoning didn't seep into the meat. The size was large for the price though. We did wish that we know this place sooner during our stay in Seattle so we can try more dishes. All in all, we will come back since we love Indonesian food much.

Good place for asian food, especially if you like sweet soy sauce based cuisine. If you come here, you should try any kind of chicken dishes, bakmi goreng jawa, Es cendol Daging turtuga

I went to Singapore a few months ago, and I'll admit that I've been utterly spoiled by the food of the countries on the Straits of Malacca. Sambal fish, nasi lemak, and perfect cups of kopi teh. All of which are virtually impossible to find in Seattle. Fortunately, there are a few substitutes for the cuisines of the Straits in Seattle, one of which is Indo Cafe. They serve excellent food at prices that are nearly as low as what one would pay for a similar dish at a shophouse restaurant in Singapore; maybe even slightly less. The flavors aren't toned down for ang moh consumption either. The sauces and chicken in the nasi padang are incredibly flavorful. And they have kopi teh. Sweet, wonderful kopi teh. Even if you haven't been forever spoiled by a visit to Singapore, Indonesia, or Malaysia - you deserve to try the cuisine of the Straits. And Indo Cafe is a great place to experience it. I will note that parking might be challenging, but there appears to be a parking lot just south of the main strip mall parking lot that has additional spots. That having been said, their old Northgate location had a much better parking setup.

I came here with a groupon, although the service was pleasant, I thought the food was just okay. I came here three times, and I ordered a diverse set of dishes every time but I haven't been back since my last visit. Their new location is further up Aurora, parking is a bit tight. I parked on the side because I had issues in the actual lot lol. One thing I couldn't get enough of is the corn fritters. I love all things crunchy, it was really good! I ordered a few orders of this because I didn't like my entrees. I ordered goreng java, the noodles are similar to yakisoba with this sweet soy-based sauce. It isn't that good to be honest, I took a few bites and decided I was going to go back and eat the corn fritters. Also, on another occasion I ordered the spicy chicken. I didn't like this one, I thought the chicken was bland and dry. It was topped with little crispies, but nothing special. I was under the impression that the dish would be flavored more intensely. I think the chicken is just topped with sambal, it was almost $10 and I could have made this myself at home. I also ordered the lumpia. Again, another possibility for a favorite but it fell short of my expectations. I think the issue is that there is too much noodle packed into the wrapper, it's really dry. I'm use to lumpia with lots of meat, Chinese style & Filipino style. The sauce was good but if the lumpia is lacking, it all kind of trickles down. The drinks and desserts were pretty good! I had the shaved ice dessert, it reminds me of halo halo (Filipino) & che thai (Vietnamese). Everything is literally $3 so although the entrees disappointed me, this made it up to me at least. The cuisine is really unique, if you're up for an adventure you should try it at least once and see.

Went with a 9 person party and had an Indonesian friend do the ordering so I do not know the dish names of anything we got; however, I'll try to be as descriptive as possible. Had appetizers: something like a meatball in the shape of a siumai in a peanut sauce. Also had some deep friend squares - potato fritters with corn in it? Both were very good and set the bar high. Entrees were lackluster however. We got fried chicken, fried fish, beef rendang, and another bowl of beef soup. The plates that we got were tiny and made eating almost like an acrobatic act. Serving spoons were non-existent. Both the beef rendang and the beef soup were quite bland. I expected more spices and flavor, but what we got was very unexciting food. The fried chicken was dry, and seemed to have been sitting out for quite some time. The fried fish was also dry, maybe a frozen fish and was not very fresh. 3/5 would not visit again.

Wow - our favorite must have in Seattle. Since I live in Portland now, whenever we venture north, we'll make it a point to have a meal here for sure. Rendang Beef is a stewbeef with spices served with rice, veggies and boiled-then fried egg. Addicting it is, so that even though I'd like to try everything on the menu, I have to get this, or at least convince my wife to order it so i can steal bites. caution: A lot of the dishes tend to be on the spicy side, such as the green chile chicken. one great way to sample more types of meats is the rice plate combos. The cornfritter is a very interesting appetizer and may I suggest the coconut rice upgrade with your meal. The staff is lovely and they are proud of the food, for good reason. Be advised that the neighbor is run down, this is a gem in the rough.

My boyfriend and I purchased a Mystery Dinner Date through Groupon. You pay for the Groupon and when you go to print off your voucher, it gives you the name of the restaurant and a number to call for reservations. We had both never eaten Indonesian food or heard of Indo Cafe before. Overall, we had a wonderful experience & I can't wait to go back!!! =) Our waiter was very welcoming from the moment we walked in. He guided us through the menu, answered our questions, gave us recommendations, and was always checking up on us. Now as for the food...it was even better! Everything we had had such great flavors that I couldn't stop eating. The portions were huge so I had leftovers for the next day (yay!) and dessert, fried banana was fantastic! We had a wonderful experience and we are very excited to add another restaurant to our list of favorite places. The only reason why it got 4 Stars instead of 5, was the parking. It has very limited, small spaces. So if you have a reservation, make sure to give yourself a few minutes to loop around if you can't find parking right away.

I had the crispy chicken dinner plate. The chicken was awesome. It was crispy and season perfectly. Portion size was great. The egg that came with it was nice and crispy but the spicy sauce on top was a little too spicy for me. Which was fine since I was able to scrap it off. Only thing I had a problem with was the weird side of crispy sardines with chips and peanuts? It was a weird combo. Had the es cendol for dessert. I was excited for this. Cause vietnamese have something similar to this. Wow. I was so disappointed. The green noodles were not soft enough and the coconut with sugar was not sweet enough. It just tasted off. I would go back for the food only.

We ordered the curry beef stew (Daging Tuturuga) and it was very watery. I came here with an Indonesian friend and he also said that the color is not supposed to be this light. Besides being charged $9 for this bowl of watery curry flavored "soup", one of the staff behind the counter was talking about other customers in Indonesian. Heads up to the woman behind the counter that night, don't assume the customers can't understand a different language if you have something bad to say about them.

As an Indonesian & a frequent traveler to Indonesia, I have tasted and ate many flavors and dishes of Indonesian cuisine. Back where I grew up, my mother would make similar dishes that reminds me of Indonesia. Now that I'm living in Seattle for college purposes, I have a place that reminds me of home & of Indonesia. We were welcomed by the very friendly and jovial waiters & waitress, even asking us to eat at the restaurant multiple times on our trip. We ordered the Bakmi Goreng Jawa and the Nasi Goreng, which both came out to be very delicious. We asked for spicy, and it was too hot for me (but it's okay! Still very tasty!). Prices for the menu are very affordable and worth it for the price you pay. It's a shame that this is the only Indonesian restaurant around the Seattle area. But at least I have only one place to crave for home food. Hope to eat here again!

My husband and I came here after we got a Groupon for a secret date night thing, which only revealed the restaurant after we bought it. We got Indo Cafe. It took us a while to go, because didn't think it looked like it had a lot of pescatarian choices. We finally went, and we are glad we did. The service was wonderful. Our server was glad to help us and give us recommendations and was excited that we enjoyed it so much. Our Groupon included 2 drinks, an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. Our drinks were amazing! I had the Happy Soda, which was some kind of syrup and condensed milk. My husband's drink (which was even better) was cola mixed with condensed milk. We got the lumpia as our appetizer which was really good, especially the peanut sauce it came with. Our entrees were delicious as well, although yet again, my husband's was better. I had the Nasi Goreng Indonesia with tofu, which was good but mainly just tasted like chili. My husband had the Kwetiau Goreng Indonesia with tofu, which was absolutely great. To top it off, we had a fried banana with ice cream. Go here. It's in a really weird location, but do not let that fool you.

I am so excited to have found this place! The food is amazing - there's a fry master in the kitchen and the fried chicken is perfect - so are the apps, pork floss (whaaa, yes, so good). And the service is awesome, so polite, professional, informative, yet relaxed and fun. They really have a great atmosphere and an overall great experience.

The food was great but I didn't like the service. When we asked for a check, the waitress said we can just go straight to the counter, the guy standing there will split the bill for us (we did not say we want to split the bill). We went to the counter, waited more than 5 mins before the guy finally let us pay (he was issuing check for other customers sitting on their desks I assume). I don't get why we were being treated differently. From my observation, we were the only group that had to walk up to the counter, waited there to finally get a chance to pay.

This is the best Indonesian food in Seattle. Most of the time the food is very good; they do seem to fluctuate on the flavor and quality from time to time. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the dining experience is always positive. Their prices are low, which makes this place hard to beat. The new location is very nice inside, and romantic enough to make a good date. Bottom line: try it.

My first time having Indonesian food and I was really impressed! It's very unique! Not knowing what to order, I ordered some noodles that was very similar to yakisoba noodles. (Javanese sp?) However, it was delicious by ten folds and I found myself craving it again the very next day! Gado gado was interesting, not really my thing but I can see people loving it. It was just too much peanut sauce for my liking. The coconut rice was a bit disappointing though. My mom really liked the homemade durian ice cream while my dad enjoyed their shaved ice syrup dessert. Service was excellent and our poor waitress was very patient while we asked her to explain what half of the menu means. Ps. If you were the waitress serving us that night, I'm sorry for the poor tip! You didn't accept my credit card and that was all the cash I had on hand... Definitely deserved more than that!

Nice environment, super friendly services, food is decent. Tried their fish which was alright, but the rice plate with chicken and kang kung (vegetable) was legit
