I rarely ever give 5 stars for a review but Il Corvo is the exception. It's mainly due to the value/price ratio that keeps me coming back here for more. Let's start with the fact that the pasta is simply Devine! So simple yet flavorful. And the portion is just right so that I don't feel hungry nor do I have the urge to take an afternoon nap. And with the day offering that changes, the choice b/w 3 pastas is just right. Not too complicated (unlike Cheescake Factory which is more like a book than a menu!). Don't worry if there is a line. Magically, when its your time to order, there will be seats available for you. Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

I like what they are doing and it is a great business model and people had been raving about this for years so I finally ate here last week. As someone who has been to Bologna though, I was disappointed with their Bolognese sauce. It tasted too much like a chili or like Indian food. Whatever meat was in it was ground down into a mush and was no longer discernible. The pesto was in my opinion better. It's kind of awkward to need to scrounge for seats and annoying to wait for half an hour or more in line, but at this price it is probably worth the annoyance.

Emperor has no clothes. I work on the Eastside, so it is difficult to take time out of the middle of a business day to go to Il Corvo. Based on the hype from reviews and from my friends, I made the point to go out to see just what this is all about. The vibe of this place is good, with plenty of people in line and tables full, I figure it is all a good sign. I ordered all three pasta dishes for the day. Rigatoni, Pappardelle and Pasta Misti. First impression from the Rigatoni dish, salty salty and chalky, yuck! Pasta Misti with fresh asparagus and chickpea sauce has a delightful taste. The bolognese is salty as well and tasted uninspiring, you can probably get better gnocchi from Whole Foods. I left very disappointed. I simply can't believe the hype. Look, you can find much better pasta in NYC and just about any random small town restaurants in Italy. I can excuse bad pasta from your generic Italian restaurant here in Seattle, but this is all these guys do. WTF? This is best Seattle has to offer?

This pasta is amazing! I wish they were open more then just for lunch. They have 3 different pastas each days (always have at least one vegetarian option). The pasta are perfect portion to fill you up for lunch, and all the rague is simply delicious . I highly recommend for a great pasta fix!

OMG! I just went to Il Corvo about 2 hours ago and had all 3 pastas! It's definitely the best pasta restaurant in Seattle. Although the line was pretty long at lunch, it moved pretty quickly.

On a Monday afternoon, this is the only place in the downtown area I could see that was totally packed. Since the tables line each side of the room with a path down the middle to reach the register where you order your choice of the daily three pastas, everyone is your neighbor. Everyone is too busy ordering their own bowl of heavenly goodness to bother you and the portions are just the right amount to satisfy without over-stuffing you while keeping the rotation at the tables moving. (got to get back to the office yo) The daily special was the cresti di gallo pasta with delicate squash and sage cream sauce which was slightly sweet. It paired well with the bowl of tagliatelle and the Bolognese with just the right kick. The house-made focaccia is awesome, too! I've only had better appetizer bread (and for free) at That's Amore in Mt. Baker. So happy I made it here after only 2 years! :) Don't forget to bus your table when you're done!

Tasty Lumache today, perfect texture and nice light meaty flavor from the chanterelle mushrooms, cream and sherry (chipped beef like). Dusted with Parmesan. Should have ordered all 3 pastas today to share with my lunch partner. They all looked so good. Hold your nose or hold your breath walking up to the doors though.. Line was long, but that might have been from some waiting to pick up their Thanksgiving Porchetta - luckies. Food delivered minutes after ordering with a call of our names. Ear slow or it'll be gone too quickly.

The first time I went here I ordered a pasta with white sauce and pepper. The pepper was so overwhleming it was hardly edible. My friends tried it and none of them could stand it either. The second time I tried to go here the servers were so rude to our party that we decided to eat somewhere else. I'd stay away from this place. There are lots of other great restaurants in the area.

Heard a lot of good things about this place and one of the rare occasions that I have a weekday off I had to come here and try for myself. And it reached and exceeded all my expectations. The price of this place was actually very good. I had an appetizer, glass of wine and two pasta entrees for about $25. The seating is communal which is interesting but it does expedite you're ability to sit down and eat your food. And the food comes out pretty quickly. The food is cooked perfectly al dente and the portion was just right. Granted I ate two entrees and I'm a pretty tiny person but it gave me the option to try out two of their dishes. The menu is limited but I find that preferable to having a giant menu of lesser products. At least you can pretty much guarantee what you get will be amazing. I would highly recommend this place to everyone and it's now my favorite place for great pasta.

One of my favorite places to eat in downtown. The pasta is made daily and it's fresh.

I had the Tagliarini - arugula pistachio and lemon pesto and the other dish we ordered was the cannelloni filled with pancetta, kale and fromage blanc with salsa pomodoro.. I am veggie so I can only tell you about the tagliarini., it was oh SO good!! Good food always makes one grateful and this one did.. There are antipasti options too but we went for the mains.. The portions are just right.. Not the usual huge 'no one can possibly finish this' sizes.. The place is open only weekdays for lunch... Great food!

They are open Monday to Friday, from 11:30-2, or something really specific like that. Hand-made pastas, with really eclectic, and stupendous flavor. I came here drawn by the gelato, (this place is like a shop within a shop), and was piqued by the pasta. I had no plans to eat here, but then saw the reviews. Having arrived on a Friday, this was the last chance I was going to get. So, I took the plunge and was glad I did. Squid-ink pasta with smelt, parsley, and olive oil and some subtle flavor I couldn't really catch. It was delicious. Kind of strange at first, I must have not read the smelt all that well because it certainly would not have been my first choice, but with each additional bite, I dug it more. Highly recommended if you can get away and try it out.

  • Marvilyn Q.

Disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the sauces were insanely delicious but the pasta was horribly under cooked, NOT al dente. Having an Italian mother in law I know the difference. Being that I was starving, after having stood in line already I didn't have the energy to take it back I crunched it down with a red wine chaser. Luckily, the soft focaccia bread(which i used to sup up leftover sauce)and the garbanzo salad and salami plate also helped supplement my meal. If I was local, I might give it another shot. Being a tourist, it wasn't worth the haul down to pioneer square(nor was pioneer square but that's another review).

deliciously handmade pasta for 9$, the dishes are different every day! only opened from 11am to 3pm i believe and its next to a bug safari store.. dont miss it, the sign is just a wooden board thing on the ground

I have a lot of love for this quirky little place. I really feel like I could eat here every day and not get tired of it, which is saying a lot since I am well known among my friends for always wanting to try somewhere new. In spite of that, I've made it to Il Corvo for lunch dozens of times, and can't wait to go back again. And why should I? Perhaps I'll go right now! The pasta is fresh and delicious, the staff is delightful, and the location makes me smile.

There is pasta and there is amazing pasta which. This little gem of a restaurant (small and cosy) offers great creative pasta dishes which rival the best hand crafted pasta creations out there. Prices are very reasonable. I am ready to go back often and be surprised with new amazing specials. Bellissimo!

Didn't have much time for lunch, but wanted to do something out of the norm for my birthday. So I headed over to try il Corvo for the first time with friends from work. The portions are going to seem small to most, but to me are perfect for lunch. I even tried one of their Canoli and it was really good. Will definitely come back in the future

Truly a gem of a find. I have been meaning to go here for a little while after hearing good things from a couple friends, and I finally went this past Friday with my gf. == Food == We had the only two remaining pastas which were still available: * cavatelli with sun gold tomatoes, green beans, mint and lemon * linguine with an amazing pesto Both pastas were delicious, as the pasta is handmade and cooked to order. The cavatelli was a light and refreshing dish, and the fresh vegetables in it were a nice surprise. The linguine was richer, as one would expect once you add delicious pesto. The portions aren't huge, as other reviewers have mentioned, but they should be just right for most. == Price == Il Corvo is only open for lunch on weekdays, and their prices are very reasonable, especially considering that you get top quality pasta made by someone who truly loves the art of pasta making. == Service == There were only 3 people working, but they were friendly, and asked us about how our meal was at the end. The place is very casual, so you bus your own table. The only downside of this place is that your schedule has to be fairly flexible in order to make it out to enjoy their foods. Other than that, Il Corvo is pretty much perfect as a lunch destination. PS - check out their blog to get a glimpse of what their dishes look like.

Mike truly knows what he is doing. He keeps it simple but amazing. Truly amazing ingredients by a guy who knows what to do with it. Fresh made pasta, with amazing olive oil, parley, and cured tuna heart was on the menu that day and I find myself still thinking about it weeks later. Very reasonable prices, and as soon as the sun comes out it will some how find a way to be even more amazing with those big gorgeous windows letting in the sun. A tad hard to find if you don't know

I dig the pasta here. It's fairly affordable and the flavors are unique. I've tried a few of the recipes that come with some of the pasta and I wasn't wowed. But using my own recipes makes these pastas the highlight of the dish. My favorite is the spicy orzo they have. It's super spicy and that's hard to acheive with a dried pasta. I cook it with a chorizo and fresh veggies and cheese at the market and its phenomenal.

Nestled in the Pike Place Market Hill Climb and operating out of a gelato shop (Procopio Gelateria) Il Corvo would be easy to miss if you were strolling by but you'd be bummed if you did. This place features great hand made pasta prepared with market ingredients. Shared the farfalle with spicy coppa and fresh sugar-snap peas and a roasted eggplant raviolini with marjoram-tomato sauce. The peas in the farfalle were so aromatic that you could taste them even if you got a bite of the pasta alone and the raviolini were perfectly small and well packed with roasted eggplant a perfectly warming vegetarian pasta for a chilly Seattle afternoon. Will visit again soon.

I had the Quadrucci (square pasta) is a really nice and hearty bolgnese sauce and shared a cabonara. I have to admit the pasta is really good, you can taste the difference of the pasta due to their technique. A hole in the wall that is good for lunch, and easy on your wallet. It is across from Pike Place Market, i got lost.

This is a perfect example of doing one thing and doing it well. Been here twice now and am in love. First time I had the Puttanesca and it was amazing, the addition of toasted bread crumbs blew my mind. The second time I had the pasta in honor or Julia Child, amazing as well. Love the outside seating, the casual atmosphere and the masterful food.

So a lot has changed when I first wrote this review. First of all the venue has moved to Pioneer square. The hours have changed. They take credit cards now. Basically all for the better. It's always crowded, which is perhaps less welcome but inevitable when you do something well and the new space accommodates it better than the old. What hasn't changed is that this is still the best pasta in the city, hands down.

this place is delicious. yum. yum. i love the pasta (handmade!); it has the right amount of chew in them. we got all three pastas of the day: - Mafaldine con Cavolo (with cauliflower, red cabbage, anchovy, and pine nuts) - Tagliatelle (with tomato and salumi sauce, fresh mozzarella) - Maccheroni (with sweet corn, fresno chili, sage, and cream) - i liked this a lot, even tho i don't generally like cream we also got the salumi, but didn't enjoy that they were drowned in olive oil.

This is probably one of the best places for lunch. Right price, right portion, and flavors are truly there. I would definitely be back.

  • judy n.

this is the cheapest authentic pasta you will ever find. seriously, the pasta by itself is outstanding & the sauces live up to it. i've even had a couple of vegetarian dishes (because they run out of the meat sauces pretty quickly) & i've always felt completely satisfied. i really love this place but i just wish they didn't run out of the meat sauce so quickly...

Great pasta, nice space and people. The lack of a fifth star is because it's a bit pricey. But if you have the cash, then for God's sake GO! Go early to avoid lines.

  • Elise C.

I can't believe anyone gave Il Corvo less than 5 stars. I would fly back to Seattle tomorrow solely to eat here again. Their pasta is out of this world, better than anything I've ever eaten in the North End of Boston, or anywhere else for that matter. Simply delicious and nice people.

    (5)
  • Jessica M.

I hate to add to the 5 stars on here because I don't want it to get any busier than it already is or to outgrow itself. I just can't justify giving it anything less. The gelatto here is also great.

Pure awesomeness! This place is amazing. Best pasta in Seattle!!! You can look elsewhere, but you're not going to find it.

An amazing little pasta cafe. Cash only. On a sunny day, you might actually think you are in Italy. I prefer to stay here and eat at Il Corvo!

    (5)
  • Lilia L.

The food here is f#$!ing fantastic. I subscribe to the daily blog posts and always look forward to what Mike is serving up that day. Because I'm a sort-of vegetarian (salmon, tuna, chicken and turkey are the only flesh-meats to go down my gullet...don't ask why, I am just weird, OK?) and not a huge fan of tomato-based sauces, and because the vegetarian offering of the day is often tomato-based, I don't get here as often as I otherwise might given how delicious the food is. Where else can you get a plate of fresh, tasty, homemade pasta for $9 in this city? Plus you can get gelato afterward. You can't go wrong. And I love supporting a small local business like Il Corvo. The only rough thing about going here is that, as it's only open for lunch, it makes getting through the rest of the day very difficult. Can you say "carb gut bomb"? Ohh, but it's worth it.

  • Josh D.

I've been here probably 5 or 6 times in the last few months and have tried each time to bring new folks with me to evangelize the food at Il Corvo and it appears to be working. Of the 6 or 7 people I've brought here, each one of them has gone back and brought someone else--when you find something this good you've got to get others in on it. The food is fantastic, perfect portion size and reasonably priced. I find myself getting itchy each day around 10:30 to see what Mike is going to have available that day. The homemade mortadella is fantastic and every single pasta dish I've had has left me smiling and wanting to try the next item on the menu. Flavor profiles on all the dishes work perfectly together. In Mike I Trust.

I've come to this place around once or twice a week since Mike opened up and there's a reason I keep coming back. I've never had a bad dish the countless times I've come. At $9 for lunch, you definitely get your money's worth. The combinations are always delicious and the portions are perfect. This is definitely my favorite lunch place. Oh and the periodic pasta classes are definitely worth it too!

This is one of those places you expect to see on the Food Network. Whole in the wall that serves what it serves for the day but the beauty is its delicious! Super casual, almost cafeteria-like but the food says something completely different. I'm mad I missed the lasagna before it sold out but I'll be back in hopes its on the menu

How have I lived in Seattle for a year and not one of my so-called foodie friends has ever mentioned this place?! My favorite place for Italian is and now maybe was Bizzarro in Wallingford, but this place has deeply confused my heart and where it wants to lie when it wants amazing and fresh pasta dishes. Il Corvo is a totally different atmosphere than Bizzarro, but makes me immediately wish that A. I had a more room in my stomach for more helpings of their dishes and B. That I could go there everyday. All I have to say is go there ASAP! I love this tiny little gem after just one stop.

Good! Love the fact that the menu changes on a daily basis.

  • Nicholas T.

Very good food, and the environment and decorations were great too! Only open for a short time, and don't go too late, as they seemed to be running out of pasta near the end! Menu was a little bit limited, as they offer 3 kinds of pasta each day, plus some antipasti. Cavatelli was delicious and the breadcrumb pasta was great, the spicy chickpea salad was awesome too! Definitely a neat little place to go for a quick lunch.

    (5)
  • John L.

Under ten bucks for fresh made pasta? Yep. I don't recall what type.of pasta I had, but it was served with a black pepper braised pork ragu. It was so wonderfully full of black pepper! Definitely one of the better deals in the Market area, and a little off the beaten path if you're looking for some peace and quiet without straying too far from the Market. Do make sure you bring cash as they do not accept cards, and the nearby ATM charges $3.50 for a transaction. Oof!

I am not a big fan of pasta but Il Corvo exceeded my expectation, went there for lunch break and the place was packed with people wanting to order their famous house-made pasta. There were only 3 pasta dishes, I ordered gigli (not sure of the name) my coworker ordered the bolognese and both were incredibly tasty. I think their secret is the pasta itself, it really absorbs their sauce without becoming too lose. Thanks to Il Corvo, i have am willing to eat pasta again ( if it was made by them :p) PS: The place only opens during lunch hour and when their pasta is done they close, so make sure to go their around 12pm to order and find a place to sit.

  • Jonelle T.

Yup. Il Corvo is still THE best when I'm craving pasta. I've become that person who receives the daily lunch menu via email and introduces co-workers to deliciousness they didn't know existed. I love that I can get in/out in under an hour, even when the line is out the door. The service is friendly, the pasta is always perfectly cooked and perfectly sauced, and I just can't get enough. If you haven't dined here, you're missing out on a remarkable experience. Il Corvo is how pasta should always be done.

    (5)
  • Joanne Y.

Price range is more than fair for the amazing food. True to their reviews, this place really deserves the 5 stars. The only drawbacks really is that their hours here are so limited, they don't do to-go orders, and the meal portions are on the smaller side (maybe not the best if you've got a large appetite). I had the kale salad (yum), pappardelle alla bolognese, and casarecce with braised beef and taggiasca olives. Both the pasta dishes were very, very good. I can't underscore enough how delicious and good quality their sauce and pastas were. Definitely a top favorite of all the places I've eaten at in Seattle.

  • Jean Y.

Il Corvo was recommended by several friends for its delicious handmade pasta. We shared 2 of the 3 pastas available today ($9 each). Both of the pasta dishes had perfectly cooked noodles. * Tagliatelle alla bolognese: The sauce was flavorful and delicious but oddly gritty. * Torchietti with tomato sauce, corn, zucchini, garlic, oregano: A perfect light summer pasta. There were also some appetizers and sides available, such as olives, foccacia, bean salad. The line was long, but the turnover of customers was quick. You order at the counter, pick up utensils and water, grab a seat, and bus your own table. We were done within half an hour.

  • Monkey T.

Stand in line Order food Get table Enjoy lunch Bus your table In that order A line out the door may tempt you to grab a table first, but don't. Follow directions and it'll all work out fine. Surprisingly. As long as after you're finished eating, you GTFO. As others had done before you. Different menu everyday, three pastas to chooses from, some dishes return, all are made fresh. Delicious meals, perfect portion for one or two to share. The papparadelle is too salty for my taste, but the lasagna and the Torchietti with celeriac cream sauce have been Monkey's favorites. Metered street parking available and don't step on those wet metal plates built into the sidewalks unless you want to do The Twist spontaneously. Monkey did a combo of that and "slo mo bullet dodging a la Matrix" before the 3-point dismount in front of everybody.

Sunchoke Rigatoni and a side of chili/garlic condiment- made my day! Quality/Taste- Love it. Quantity- Just right to make you come back for more. Chili condiment- Compliments the pasta so well.

5 stars for the food, which was top notch. My pasta was perfectly made (cooked just right, sauce on point, right ratio of sauce to pasta). Filling but not gut-busting. I got one of the shortbread cookies as well and it was also super yummy. I do wish the place wasn't quite so chaotic. It's very loud, crowded, small, and a little confusing. Fun, but not relaxing. Service was surprisingly friendly given how chaotic everything was.

"Pasta doesn't make you fat. How much pasta you eat makes you fat." -Giada De Laurentiis Il Corvo Pasta is as promising as everyone makes it out to. Its menu changes as frequent as my nail polish. The pasta is purely al dente. And the prices ($9) leave you ordering 1+. Only opened during lunch time, Monday-Friday, 11a-3p. It truly feels like a neighborhood gem with community seating, self-bussing tables, and a fast casual model (order at the register and food is brought to the tables). This place has good food without being pretentious. I ordered the Squid Ink Gigli in Salse Verde. The ingredients--parsley, some kind of pickled peppers, capers, salsa verde--with squid ink pasta seemed like an unlikely combo at first, but it compliment each other well and was more of a "light" dish. I was definitely having pasta envy and was also eyeing my friend's Papardelle (house cured pancetta, and turnips and greens). At $9 a dish, I should have also ordered the Papardelle. Oh well, I'm back in LA and can't wade in my regrets... Well, lesson learned. Next time I go back, I'm ordering two dishes! Heck, maybe all three.

Cute little hole in the wall that I went to a few times with a coworker. Their pasta is delicious but really expensive. The place is always packed at lunch so always go after the lunch rush. This is a place if you wanna treat yoself

Il Corvo is one of those places you have to wonder how they make it. Street parking only, limited hours, limited menu, and a small space that gets incredibly busy for lunch. And yet, I love it, and I'm clearly not the only one. The core of it is the pasta - handmade and different every day, from a wide pappardelle with spicy bolognese to a misti with a walnut-arugula pesto. Even the more adventurous-sounding options, like duck or squid ink, can be trusted - they're all dependably delicious. The pasta itself is just the right consistency, the sauces rich, flavorful, and unique, and each dish is a work of art. The portions are seemingly small but surprisingly satisfying. The menu also includes antipasti, there's cold Pellegrino up front, and there's also wine available. The place might be crowded and short on space, and the menu may be limited - but it's worth it. It's so worth it.

Yes! I get it! Although not a pasta enthusiast, I really do understand the appeal of Il Corvo. If you come during lunch hours, don't be intimidated by the fact that you order your food at the counter and wait for a chair to be open. Somehow, like an orchestrated dance, nobody was left standing and holding their pappardelle, balefully staring down the seated diners. They have a small menu that changes which really boosts the efficiency and the quality of the food they're turning out. The man who helped us was obviously proud of what their kitchen does, as they should be! I had the Spaghettini, which was firm noodles in a lightly spicy sauce. The portion was perfect for lunch and complemented the corona beans that we had as an appetizer. The temperature was perfect, the noodles were square-edged and did the nice texture dance on my tongue. We each had a different main pasta and everybody appeared to enjoy them. They served San Pelligrino for purchase, and a water cooler to refill your glass. The price fit the lunch-sized pasta and though small and filled to near-capacity, we could easily talk over lunch without feeling like you're on top of each other. We bussed our tables, making way for the next round of pasta-loving folks. It's a slight hoof from my office, but if I check their specials, I'm sure I'll find a reason to don my running shoes and head back for another round with my fellow Yelpers!

II Corvo Pasta is one of my favorite lunch spots for an amazing bowl of pasta. They are only open during weekday lunch hours and commonly have a line to or out the door. Their is no wait staff -- you order at the front and then they bring your food to you wherever you sit. Their menu changes every day -- so I recommend checking their website to see if you are going to like the pastas they are serving up. They also make delicious appetizers such as homemade meats and cheeses. You can order your food to go or eat there. Even though it seems so packed when you walk in and no seats, one always empties by the time you order. I think for the most part people here are respectable and don't linger at the table. Also to note, it's communion style, so you are likely to share a table with someone you don't know. I have never had a bad experience here.

Their handmade pasta is impeccable. It's chewy and consistent. The menu they create with the pasta? Can be a hit or miss. I've definitely ordered dishes with a complexity which made it fun to eat down to the last slurp (like today's Maltagliati with cauliflower, chick peas, lemon, oregano), and others that I got over so fast after a few initial bites. Does it taste like the neighboring restaurants around my once-apartment in Rome? Not quite but they feature styles from north, south, east, and west of Italy so I can't speak for 'em all. I think Il Corvo is an awesome lunch choice for a quick in & out. They calculate your tip on an iPad and you sign right onto the screen. You bus your own table, gather your own utensils, and politely squeeze your butt onto a seat to a table whose party clearly isn't yours. This is a place of low overhead costs! Be in and out, please don't lollygag. The people in line will stare at you.

I enjoyed the torchiette, with green beans and toasted garlic cream and my partner had the pappardelle, alla Bolognese. The torchiette dish was perfectly cooked with ideal ratios of pasta: green beans: cheese: sauce. It was one of those dining experiences where you have a certain expectation of what the dish should taste like, as hinted by the ingredient list, and it delivered upon those expectations. The portion was large enough to satiate, but not overfill. The pappardelle was rich and delicious. The pasta itself held together well; it was soft, but not too chewy. The bolognese was a tad different, being that it had some other flavors (clove and fennel) that were more prominent, compared to other Bolognese sauces I've tried. Regardless, it tasted gooood. The employees were very friendly and the service was quick! The only thing I truly disliked was the cramped seating arrangements and people who linger after their meals are finished (or just because their friends are there). It's a small, high-volume, fast lunch place. People should eat then leave quickly to make room for the people who just got their food!

My perfect pasta place! The menu is small with I think just three pasta dishes each day? but they change it daily, so there's always something new to try. The best thing about this place is that the handmade pastas are ALWAYS cooked PERFECTLY. It's so satisfying to take a bite of pasta that's the perfect texture and flavor. The sauces they make are simple, but really, really delicious. I also like how they use different types of pastas that you don't normally see at Italian restaurants like bucatini, conchiglini and others, so it makes eating here feel even more special. The restaurant is cute and not too big, there's a few two or four person tables and then a larger table that can be communal too, so it can get busy. I think coming after the noon lunch rush is the best way to avoid a crowd. As for portions, it can look "small" for $9ish and does leave you wanting more because it's THAT good, but to be honest, it's enough for a satisfying lunch without suffering carb overload. Too bad this place is only open lunch hours on weekdays, or else I'd want to come here.. every day? I wish :)

WHAT I LOVED: $7 mini bottle of Prosecco - nice Foccacia bread (although a bit overpriced) Menu set up - different options each day Cute decor and efficient order process. OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH: Portion size - Pasta was $9 for a very small portion. Selection - I think I may have caught it on an off day, but I didn't care for the sauces. I had the pesto almond and also tried the tomato basil gnocchi, and I personally didn't care much for either.

I was on the jury duty today and searched a good lunch place nearby. I found this pasta & salad restaurant. It's long line though as others said it moves quick(why not, it's pasta). Overall it's good food for lunch though it's noisy from people waiting in the line.

Eh... I should have started with lower expectations. Had the bolognese, only because my other choices were nuts (allergies) or anchovies. Also had the focaccia bread. The bread tasted delicious, but was a little heavy. Also, the olive oil could have used a splash of vinegar. Four stars for the bread. Spent the whole meal getting bumped from behind by people bussing their tables or walking out with carry out. I should have done that. Couldn't hear my partner over the din anyhow. Two stars for ambience/dining area. The meal though... The pasta itself was delicious and well prepared. Al dente and tasty. Really great pasta, five stars there. The topping/sauce though... I don't know what it is, but it smelled like cat food, looked like dog food, and tasted like liver. Maybe my palate isn't refined enough. Too many years eating Ragu. It just wasn't for me, and brought the dish down to three stars. I'll give it another try when they have something us country bumpkins can eat. You know, tomato or cream base without the powerful flavors of liver and anchovies. Or maybe I'm just trying to get Frito pie at Canlis... And I should just stick to the blase places.

Wow, the food at this place lives up to the hype. Wish I could say the same about the lack luster and rude service here however. When you enter, you place your order at the front and at the cashier, receive a number, are then allowed to grab a table, and they will "expo" your food to your table. There's water and glassware near cashier which you can help yourself. The Good: The pasta dishes were all lovely and satisfying. All three pasta were remarkable. Not having pasta dishes as scrumptious as these in a long time in the Seattle area was a pleasant surprise and treat. The Bad: Upon entering, the "expo"/"server" donning spike earrings, chided me for sitting down as I waited for one of my dining companions was in line ordering. Someone clearly has no experience in the customer service industry or knows how to properly treat its patrons. Based on review of other Yelpers, it appears that I am not the only one that has experienced this rude type of service. Would highly recommend management reassess behavior of its staff during business hours as it's a shame that the rude service takes away from their remarkable food. Aside from the rude service by the earring donning expo, a little warning for those that do not frequent this area of Pioneer Square: there are tons of pan-handling homeless people parked on this street and the neighboring alleyways near this establishment, so beware. Tip: They open at 11 a.m., if you want to avoid the insane lunch lines get here way before 12.

Hands down, best pasta in Seattle. Ate here both days I reported for Jury duty, wanted to try someplace else, but just had to go back. The menu changes daily so if you can handle the carbs the sky is the limit. Enjoy!

This is some of the best handmade pasta in the city unfortunately only at lunchtime but fortunately at lunch prices! I has the bolognese and it was delish!

I work nearby and have been walking past Il Corvo for a very long time, but have been fighting it because I knew once I tried it 1) I would love it and 2) I would be coming here all the time for lunch. I try to avoid eating heavy lunches (aka pasta) so I don't fall asleep at my desk. Well, I finally gave in on my bday and whattya know 1) I fell in love and 2) I'll be coming here all the time for lunch now. I arrived exactly at 11a when they were just opening up. There were two people already there. When I ordered, I was torn between the Pappardelle with bolognese and the daily special which was Tagliatele with summer squash and saffron cream. HOLY MOSES I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. First of all, it wasn't a large portion, but just enough. A perfect portion you could say. The noodles were cooked to perfection. The sauce - I just can't. It was garlicky, creamy goodness. Okay, I'm going back today. Order at counter, sit and wait for heaven to arrive. Bus your own table. Luckily I got there when I did. While I waited for my food, a line formed to the door, but despite the small restaurant, there was enough room for everyone to sit. Impressive. All in all it was a great experience and I can't wait to return. Today. Now. I'm in love.

Wow, Il Corvo was so good! We went around 1pm so there was barely a line and we had no trouble finding seating. I love the vibe - lively, inviting, and cozy. It just felt like everyone was smiling and enjoying being there, whether as a patron or an employee. It is not a big place but I didn't feel claustrophobic because there was plenty of room still for people to walk from the register to a table, for example. The service is great, and the staff is really friendly. I ordered casarecce with a sauce of tomatoes, chilis, anchovy, and cauliflower. It also had some olives and gooseberries, which I thought worked well against the spice. The pasta was cooked perfectly! It had a nice bite to it and held onto the sauce well. I also tried my husband's dish, which was gigli al inferno -- wow. Amazing. Lots of great flavor and again, cooked perfectly. I also think the price was fair - $9 per serving, and the portion size was big. In fact, I couldn't even finish mine. *shame* I will definitely get some fresh baked foccacia next time to soak up all the delicious sauce!

Went back and forth with myself for half the day on whether I should make a stop here or not. Mainly because I've been eating so much for the day already. Then I finally gave in to my pappardelle craving. The hand made paste was pretty spot on. So what didn't do it for me? Wasn't too impressed with the bolognese and it was a too salty for me. Kind of ruined the almost $10 plate. Also, ordering my food was a bit annoying. The cashier and the girl in front of me carried along their conversation well after she finished ordering without any acknowledgement that I was waiting in line. After she decided to move over for me to order, the cashier still carried his conversation with her over me as I stood there waiting for him to take my order. Why didn't I say something during? Well, I don't mess with people before they touch my food. Afterwards, I forgot. Would I come back and give it another try. Probably.

My pasta was excellent as expected. I was apprehensive about the long line but cruised threw it and rethought my order a number of times. For sure get a side of the chili's. The staff was so friendly and efficient, a well oiled pasta pumping machine is II Corvo Pasta.

If Il Corvo put as much pride and passion into their sauce/gravy as they do their customer service, this place would be unforgettable! I was instantly dazzled by the Italian meets hipster look and feel of this quaint little eatery. It felt like I walked into one of my favorite San Francisco restaurants in Little Italy. Even though you bus your own table, the staff has somehow convinced me that it's part of the overall experience and charm, like having a meal at mom's dining table. The olive antipasto and the kale salad were as delectable as they come. I would order that salad every single day if I could. The hand-made pasta dishes promised to be incredible by appearance and description alone. Sadly, all the pasta dishes were extremely dry and flavorless! This was beyond disappointing because the flavors were borderline amazing for everything else we ate, and the pasta was crafted and cooked to a perfect al-dente. I kept wanting to love it, but our relationship ended somewhere between the fourth or fifth bite underneath a feeling of blah and a few glasses of water. No flavor. Dry like the Sahara in summer. So sad. Il Corvo is an excellent concept and super cute eatery with about 80% success in what customers care about. Unfortunately, that missing 20% is a key ingredient in great Italian food. I would try it again, but only after seeing confirmations from other Yelpers that they've remedied their stingy sauce allotment and put some real love into the flavors and ingredients.

Fresh Pasta's everyday at affordable prices. Really not to many places you can go around the city to beat Il Corvo. In most major cities this pasta would be the best you can get. Usually a long line, not much seating, cramped, everything you would expect from a trendy downtown small restaurant. Recommend to anyone. Lasagna, Bolognese, and fresh spring pasta with veggies personal highlights.

Delicious, tasty, and affordable hand made pasta and sauces. Came here right when they opened (to ensure we got a table), and got the Bolognese and Percatelli, alla Siciliana. First off a caveat; read what the item description is! The Percatelli was amazing, spicy, a bit fishy, and delicious (aka if you don't like spicy food, this was not the dish for you). The pasta was a bit too al dente (had too much of a bite, a bit undercooked), and the Bolognese was a bit too salty (also looked nothing like the pictures I had seen which made me a bit sad). Overall, a great experience, although I felt the execution was lacking just a bit the day we came...I'd definitely come try it again and just hope one pasta was cooked for an extra minute or so, and the other less salty.

Mon - Fri lunch spot with daily changes to the menu. Looks like they offer 3 types of their fresh, handmade pasta and let me tell you something: when the chef you work with demands (ehm, recommends...haha) that you go here, you listen. High quality artisanal pasta that focuses on the quality of fresh ingredients and you can definitely taste it. And all very reasonably priced! Make it out to Il Corvo Pasta when you're out in Seattle.

Just when you think the pasta can't get any better, it usually does. With the rotating menu of three pasta dishes per day - including the signature Bolognese as a constant - you're able to try something new with every visit. I try to keep a top three favorite dishes from Il Corvo (for my own obsessive sake of remembering great pasta), but it's impossible for it to remain constant. It seems like every other visit a new dish becomes my favorite. Having visited close to 40 times, my 40th favorite (or least favorite, rather) pasta dish would still beat out most other restaurant's best offering. Il Corvo is just on another level.

Il Corvo Pasta is the go-to-place for that afternoon carb craving! Their somewhat limited hours (lunch only)f speaks to the quality of chow and the crowds that gather here day in and out. What is so special about the pasta? This stuff is clearly hand made with care and so much better than the dried stuff out of the box at home. Everyday there are 3 or 4 different pastas that are featured in different sauces and about 3 or 4 daily sauce options that you could choose to top as well. I won't pretend to remember or know how to spell the various Italian names but all I have tried have been very good. Serving size is very much what you would get in Italy for a pasta course, meaning not a huge serving. Any larger and you probably wouldn't be very productive for the remaining day of work. You also have to try the buttery short bread cookies with dulce de leche. Decadent! Don't let the crowds scare you off. Despite the cramped space, turnover is pretty good and the staff and awesome and very prompt at getting your pasta to you. You next carb load should be here!

Happy birthday il corvo!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for one year of epic pasta(s) happiness. Before this James street location was open , IL corvo's pasta seem like a dream and fantasy that I'd rarely get to eat! And pasta snob in me was slowly dying. Thanks to the epicness that is Mike easton, I've got my pasta Mondays, Thursdays and even some Fridays! Nothing beats fresh made pasta! That amazing batch of beautiful strings, layers, ear shape, butterfly shape, lasagna sheets, gnocchi! So manyyyyy! I make them at home but a whole lot of effort for very little return. Or you can go to Italy and have it all around. And you don't need oodles of crap on top of it make it taste good. It's all about the pasta and the taste of it! Mike knows it, he got it and he owns it!!!! The menu goes up every morning at 10:40 am. It is simple. 3 pasta dishes~ usually one dish of the day, one bologenese and one vegetarian. The shapes of pasta change daily but you can always count on that oh so good texture in each bowl. You come here, you order your food and sit on the communal tables!! It is simple, tasty and perfectly efficient. They are only open for lunch so the lines will get mad long. But what wouldn't you do for a perfect bowl? I would get parking ticket for that perfect bowl of pasta. I might even order a second bowl! ( Gasp, sorry mom!!!). Portions are perfect. It's not monstrous like your favorite faux Italian basement place ( ahem ,yes beppo). If you're expecting Americanize flavors(barf), all you can eat crap on the side, this isn't for you. This is also a reasonably priced place for pretty excellent dishes. And I absolutely LOVE Mike's daily menus. My only complain is that they are not open for dinner. But that's what makes this place even more amazing. Gotta work for that pasta if you want it! And I'll work for it every time. Thanks for countless bowls of pasta in one year! Both my expanding waistline and happiness meter thank you for all those happy bites!! Can't wait to taste more happiness this year. Yumm yumm!!

Really really good! Hand made pasta perfection with a rotating menu! Check the website/blog for the menu each day. I've told so many people about Il Corvo yet haven't taken the time to write a yelp review. Regardless, this is hands down my favorite place to get pasta in Seattle, the best value too. It's become increasingly popular and the line sucks but every time I go I come to the conclusion that the wait is absolutely worth it. Pro tip: just get there at opening or late (sure they may run out of some items but everything on the menu is superb).

Goodness gracious, great balls of steaming, handmade pasta! Il Corvo more than lives up to the reputation it has, it is phenomenal. On a recent Monday we finally braved the crowds to eat here, must have come at the right time, the line was only 5 people deep. My beau ordered the Pappardelle with a rich meat ragu and I had Conchiglie, with zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and fresh mozz, lovingly tossed and so very fresh. We also shared a little bread, a dish of buttery olives and a cuppa vino, since it was a work lunch. The drill is easy, order up front, grab utensils, find a seat then wait for the magic to happen. It's a narrow place, but people move through it easily, since we're all in it together, this great celebration of handmade goodness.

Small restaurant, Big flavors! After my girlfriend threw a tantrum on how badly she wanted to try this place, I had no choice but to dine at Il Corvo. We went around noon and there was a line, but not out the restaurant. So this place you have to order at the cashier and pay for your food before you eat it (which I don't like) and you also have to buss your own plates after. The restaurant has limited number of tables so keep your eyes open for one and don't be a jerk by chatting after your meal for too long. Just eat and get out! Haha They had a simple menu with a few appetizers and 3 pasta dishes. I'm guessing the menu rotates? We ordered the Corona bean salad, house baked focaccia, mushroom cream pasta, and also the pesto pasta. The bean salad was good because I've never had anything like that. It's in some green sauce and olive oil with some pickled celery, onions, and some other stuff. The pasta was very very good. I've had mushroom cream and pesto pastas, but these homemade pastas had the perfect texture . They are only open for weekday lunch so that is inconvenient, but the food is excellent so give it a try! A BIG "THANK YOU" is due to Mike and Victoria! I recently hosted a trip for several out-of-state friends...friends whom I'd previously brought Il Corvo dried pasta to. My friends really enjoyed the pasta so I wanted to surprise them with an even better Il Corvo Pasta experience. The problem was that we wouldn't be in town during open hours... Well, Mike and Victoria came through for me in a very big way and helped make the trip one that will not soon be forgotten in our minds or stomachs! You guys are the best! Also a significant tip of the hat to Karel and Jonathan (hope I spelled your names correctly!). You're always helpful and in good spirits, no matter how long the line it. You guys are awesome - keep up the great work!

You can't go wrong at Easton's In Corvo. The lines can be daunting but it's worth the wait. I have yet to experience a bad dish here. The pasta is simple and cooked to perfection in every dish. The staff is friendly and willing to help. Try the baked pasta on Friday. Enjoy Seattles best pasta. The only setback is lunch only Monday ~ Friday.

Favorite lunch spot in Seattle and possibly the best pasta I've ever had on the west coast! I love how they only offer a limited menu and it changes daily. Actually, it even changed TWICE after we ordered. My guess is their kitchen rotates ingredients based on what they have in stock. All these delicious homemade pastas are only $9 and the portions are just about filling for me. Maybe a tad small for people with larger appetites. I ordered Pappardelle, Alla Bolognese. Wow that meat sauce is so freakin' good. It's savory and creamy. The pasta is perfectly al dente. You can really taste how fresh all their ingredients are. My friend ordered the spicy clam pasta and it was AMAZING. I loved it even more than the pappardelle because I love clam pasta and the flavors were so strong. Al dente pasta yet again. Absolute perfection noms. They also had a Bean salad appetizer which I really enjoyed, it was really refreshing on a hot summer day. It gets pretty crazy inside because it's self-serve (bus your own table after you order) and it's ONLY open for lunch! Definitely try this place if/when you're in Seattle.

Il Corvo is the best restaurant in Seattle for fresh pasta. I've had pasta that's just as good at other places, but you can't beat the value at Il Corvo. They offer 3 pasta dishes (changes everyday - check their website) at under $10, with additional sauce options available. I've had the pasta with bolognese and cresti di gallo with herb infused cream and pine nuts - both were delicious. Il Corvo is only open for lunch on weekdays - unfortunately inconvenient for anyone who works outside Seattle. The line moves fairly quickly and while tables are limited, people generally don't loiter after they're done. Go if you have the chance!!

Yep, pretty much the best pasta I've ever had, as evidenced by all the 5-star Yelp reviews I'm seeing here. I stopped by at about 11:50 on a Tuesday and there were already about 25 people in line. And it was HOT in there, like a sauna. Whew! They opened a window above the door after a few minutes, which helped. It was about 10-15 minutes in line, which isn't bad for that many people to make it through. Food came out quickly, in 5-10 minutes. The specials of the day were: Spaghetti Nero Alla Siciliana (squid ink pasta!) Cresti De Gallo, alla Bolognese Conchiglie, in pumpkin and sage cream sauce They also had some other pasta on the menu, with a choice of 3 sauces, and some antipasti: olives, homemade focaccia bread, prosciutto with pickled celery, and a few other things. Wine, Italian soda. There was also a semolina shortbread cookie with dulce de leche filling near the counter, which I got. (DUHH) I had the conchiglie with pumpkin sage cream sauce, and it was SO GOOD. Perfectly al dente, with some crumbly, salty Parmesan cheese on top. so amazing. It was clearly a popular choice, seems like half the place had gotten it. Despite how busy this place is, people seem to eat and run, so tables open up frequently. I was by myself and there were a few spots at tables where I could have sat. I ended up at a communal-style/large table at the front that was shared by a few different parties. Service was so great, too - everyone was really friendly and cool. I'll definitely be back!

The pasta here is outstanding. What's keeping it from five stars is that it's not the BEST I've had in the world. It's damn good, though. The popularity of this place has brought with it something of a cool ritual-like approach to dining there. There's something of an order etiquette. You order, you tell them your name, you get your own silverware and find a seat, they bring your food, you bus your own dishes. It's a really relaxed atmosphere with mostly 4-seaters in a cramped space. The line usually goes to/out the door, heavily clogging the center area. Despite all these things, their turnaround is amazingly accurate and whenever you think "we might not get a seat" one will open right after you place an order. Even on a random weekday, this place was busy and only half seemed like tourists. The food, really good. The pasta is made fresh and you can taste the difference. Made al dente and seasoned to perfection. The pastas seem generally light, and the portions are just right for lunch. They probably have about three to choose from daily, and they rotate. If you like spice, get a side of the inferno sauce for a dollar. Really tasty, and well worth a trip. I'd gladly come here again for a meal.

After reading about Il Corvo in Sunset and Bon Appetit and seeing hundreds of stellar reviews on Yelp, I had to give this spot a try. And truth be told, you probably can't get a better plate of pasta for $9. It's an incredible deal for fresh pasta. But is this the best pasta in Seattle? Heck no. I'd take La Medusa over it all day. I would even argue that Il Corvo doesn't even serve the best pasta in Pioneer Square, which I give to Damn the Weather. Additional strikes: Il Corvo's crazy line and no dinner or weekend hours.

I was really skeptical about ll Corvo because of some " yelp experiences" but since I have heard about this place for so long from my friends and have seen so many yummy photos of ll Corvo on instagram, which claimed this place had the best pastas in Seattle so I decided to give it a shot with my bf. We went there around 2pm, It wasn't that crowded around the time so we didn't have to get in line, which the lady at the register told us that if we got here earlier, the line would have been long to outside the restaurant. The same lady took our order and was really friendly and helpful, she asked us if it was our first time and explained what kind of pastas they had today and also gave us some suggestions. We decided to order Pappardelle, alla Bolognese and Crest Di Gallo Pasta ( roasted golden and red beets, ricotta, toasted garlic, oregano and greek yogurt). The dishes came out fairly quickly, about 7'-10' waiting, and out of our expectations, both pastas were really good. The pastas were fresh and didn't get overwhelmed by the sauces. One more thing is that I like the self-serve way, It saves much more time and energy for the restaurant, and you don't need to wait for waitresses/waiters to set up dishes or give you forks/spoons. We'll definitely come back someday to try other dishes!

Was brought here by my brother who knew of the place. It's ridiculous how they can make enough money to hold the place up, considering they are only open during the oddest of hours during weekdays, but I guess it says something about the pasta there! Came here while on vacation and got there early to get a spot and a table. Ordered several plates of all their various pastas, and I gotta say, it's pretty freakin good! Their pasta tastes really fresh and I love that there is some saltiness and flavor to the pasta itself that really combines well with the various sauces they are served with. My favorite was the meat sauce based dish, but they all are really delicious -- think like tapas for a pasta joint -- I'd recommend this place if you're a bug pasta fan.

I really wished that I could come here more often--this restaurant is only open M-F for lunch! This is one of the best places for pasta without breaking the bank. Freshly made pasta, good ingredients, good flavor, getting friendly with strangers at communal tables, what's not to like??!! I'm personally not a fan of foccacia, but at the end of the meal, I normally would wish I ordered some so that I could soak it in the remaining pasta sauce.

I absolutely love this place. The setting is perfect for a casual meal with friends. Even on the cloudiest of days, the windows let in enough light. Mostly I am in love with their pastas and the little stories that come behind it (subscribing to their blog is a small delight at the risk of drooling at my desk). The flavors come out simple and refreshing. Sometimes there are fun ingredients like nettle or squid ink and then there are also varieties of pasta that come through here. I've seen my share of spaghetti and mac. but Il Corvo has delightful shapes like gramigne and percatelli. The side salads are bright and wholesome (and also rotate). My favorite was a chickpea salad with splashes of citrus and some cinnamon. The pastas are sized so that I'm not hungry when I leave, but there is definitely room for dessert. I've had my eye on it for a while, but was only finally able to make it out during a staycation.. now I actively try to arrange any personal appointments so I can get a meal here. And they accept credit cards!

What a unique and easy-to-miss find! FRESH CUT PASTA in shapes and colors that I am not sophisticated enough to understand. This place even blogs daily!! They know their stuff and what pairs with what while still maintaining a non-snobby attitude. Going here was a learning experience every time. I went twice and thoroughly enjoyed this place. Atmosphere: Excellent. Classy Chalkboard with today's options. Antique pasta machines everywhere. Cool vibe. The line can get long but it moves fast. Food: Scrumptious and rare. Every day was so interesting. The staff really cares and helps you decide from several Italian words that scare you at first. Each pasta is fresh and unique. They are paired with some amazing sauces and fresh mushrooms with strange names from local forests. It's Seattle.. Err. Portlandia. Err Seattle. :) I'm not even going to try to remember what i got but it was amazing. Black penne. Rooster pasta. Focaccia. 5/5 Price: Very reasonable $10 for a sensory overload. FRESH CUT PASTA. Enough said. Seriously, where can you find that anywhere? Now Go to their blog and drool...

I've always wanted to check this place out. But because of its restricted monday - fri noon -3pm hours, it has been really hard. Finally tried it recently and the food did not disappoint me! Went with two other friends and we ordered everything on the menu - everything was very good! Apparently the handmade pasta changes daily. I'd love to come back and try other flavors!

Extremely rude staff. No matter how good you are at what you do there is never an excuse for treating your customers rudely.

Went here on a Monday and boy was it busy! You would order and then grab a seat (if you can find one) and then they'll call your name and bring you your food. They generally have 3 pastas and some antipastas. Neat thing is that they change their menu everyday and you can check out what they're making on their blog. I had bucatini with pancetta in tomato sauce. The serving portion is just right and their noodles are hand made. I loved it! Not super heavy feeling, which is nice since pastas usually make you full and sleepy. I would definitely come back again. I heard they're known for their pesto and squid ink sauces. The unfortunate thing is their hours. I wish they were open on weekends or dinner!

I had high hopes for this place. High reviews. Hard to go to hours. Supposed long line. Makes me feel like it has to be something special. Food: 3 items on the menu per day. Rotates daily. I got the Pesto Spaghettini. My friend got the Bolognese Rigatoni. Surprisingly, we enjoyed each other's dishes more so we ended up swapping. Perfect! I love love pesto, but I didn't enjoy this one as much. I wanted to love it but just 3 stars to me. The bolognese was very yummy though! Good flavors. 4 stars for the rigatoni. So the special thing about this place is that the pasta is hand made. I have little to no experience with that. The pasta was chewier? That's my best description. Not necessarily good or bad. Just different. My friend did enjoy that about it though. The portions are half that of normal American-sized pasta dishes. I liked that. I didn't feel stuffed as pasta usually does to you. It was also quite an early lunch for me too. Could be a factor. Maybe for someone with a bigger appetite not so good. In that case, just get two pastas. Prices: $9 for pasta. I think the half sized portion is fairly adjusted in the pricing. If you get two portions, $18 is pretty reasonable for what you would get elsewhere. Notes: They are only open 11am-3pm M-F so if you don't work downtown, pretty much impossible. I had the day off sooo that's how it happened for me. I arrived few minutes before 11am and there were about 10 other people that walked in with me as they opened their doors. The place seats 25-30 maybe? I would say it didn't get crazy busy until 1145am as I was leaving. Busy as in there was a line almost to the door and would be hard to find a seat after ordering. Good place, not crazy amazing. Glad I tried it once. If it was more convenient I would return, but next time I have a rando day off from work, I will have to try some other weekday only lunch spot.

Love this place. Il Corvo is a gem of a lunch spot, and definitely worth checking out. Each day, they have three pasta dishes, posted on their Facebook page, facebook.com/pages/Il-Co… , and on their blog ilcorvopasta.com . You go in, order your pasta, then sit, and they bring the pasta to you. Atmosphere: Light streaming in the huge windows of the front face and pasta appliances hanging from the brick walls make this place quite cozy and reminded me of Italy (the menu being in Italian definitely helped). Service: The waitress was so helpful and patient with us as we tried to order one of each pasta on the menu. Food: Amazing. The handmade pasta tastes fresh and the flavors are quite rich. Go with a group of 3 to order one of each plate and share. Price: For $9 a plate, it is definitely worth it. Would highly recommend.

Really great pasta. Period. Being raised in a rice based family I really, honestly do not get peoples obsession with pasta. That being said Il Corvo is some of the best pasta I've ever had. The prosciutto side was good but what surprised me was the pickled celery on top. I normally hate celery but some how a little vinegar, sugar, and time makes it more than palatable. I think I screwed up by getting the lasagna instead of a fresh pasta dish. The bolognese sauce was so finely minced and it created a wonderful texture and method to distribute the delightfully spicy flavor across my palate. However, for me, it would have been even better spread in a thick layer across their amazing focaccia bread. If you love pasta make sure this is on your bucket list. If you are like me, come here to appreciate great food handmade with love even if it is just pasta. I promise the wait isn't that bad.

The food is decent, but nowhere near the best pasta I've had. Pretty good for a lunch under 10 bucks though. I would not say it's wait in line 20 minutes good, but if theres maybe 10-12 people in line it's worth it. The servings however are a little on the small side. As a 200 pound dude it's definitely a light lunch if all I eat is a pasta dish from there. Certain people that like to wear striped dress socks and that sorta thing just like the ambience of this place and the idea that they're eating at a cute little pasta place for lunch so there's a ridiculous line usually. When it comes to tasty food there's definitely better choices without the long line. I would say 3.5 stars but since the rating is too high right now, ill make it a 3.

This is my favorite pasta place! The pastas are homemade, fresh, simple and delicious! I can't get enough of this stuff :). Their menu is different everyday and you can't predict when your favorite one will be served. (It's a good thing for me though because I'm constantly discovering delicious new pastas that I end up trying to mimic at home.) The only drawbacks to this place are: they're only open Monday thru Friday during lunch, it's small (hard to seat a large group), there's usually a long line even at 11 when they open, and the portions are small so I'm usually still hungry after finishing my pasta but for $9 I'm not going to complain (you can order two dishes and it would be the price of one from an ordinary Italian restaurant. I'd order two if I wasn't so worried about all the carbs! Lol) I don't blame them for the drawbacks though bc people will flock towards good food no matter what and I don't mind waiting for Il Corvo pasta :)

  • David N.

If you never been to IL Corvo for lunch in Seattle, stop right now and put it on your calendar, remember Monday through Friday though. It's a rotating adventure house made pasta menu that could put you on to black quid ink, tagliatelle alla bolognese, Cavatelli and onwards. These are the experts right here. IL Corvo is a charming rustic set that transports you back to that Florence trattoria. Order a bottle of wine if you're not going back to the office to fully enjoy your experience. The line could get a little long but what tasty Seattle lunch joint doesn't.

Homemade pasta for ~$10 for lunch. We need this in dt Toronto!! Line ups to place your order were reasonable and wait time for your food even more so. Just a few items that they focus on each day and you can tell that an item is popular when you're eagerly waiting to place your order but the ingredients get changed on you mid-wait. Booerns! We had a Fiore pasta with corona beans and chard, satisfying.

  • Salty S.

This is the best pasta in Seattle. Go with a friend and order one of everything on the menu, along with a bottle of wine. You will have an afternoon for the books, if you take my advice. If you're polite and there outside the crushing lunch rush, chances are Chef Mike will chat with you and may even bestow upon you a special treat- he's always working on something interesting, whether it's bottarga, mortadella, or whatever's caught his whimsy that week.

  • Amy S.

I'm not sure what more I can add that others haven't already said. This is the best pasta in all of Seattle. It is better than some of the pasta I had in Italy. Portions are a bit on the smaller side so be sure to order focaccia and bean salad. I wish it were open on the weekend or for dinner! I'm not sure how they do it but even with a very long line, there is always seating.

Have only eaten here once ... was expecting to be blown away, and wasn't ... it's very good and I'll certainly be back but the sauces (mine and my friend's) were could have been a bit better. The pasta, itself, was fantastic -- perfectly al dente, fresh and just slightly chewy. My cauliflower sage sauce needed black pepper for sure and could have had a bit more sage to it ... it was just a little bland. My friend's spicy red sauce was flavorful but could have been a bit spicier ... and I didn't appreciate that some of it decided to leap off my fork onto my lovely silk blouse! :) Very friendly -- don't mind the self-serve/table bussing. I like the atmosphere ... although they didn't police the the order first, take a seat second rule very well on the day I was there. I'll be back ...

Perfection. Possibly/probably one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Although only open for lunch on weekdays when there will definitely be a crazy line of people who work downtown (aka everyone) & you have to pay at least $4 for parking long enough to wait in said line & then savor the most delicious pasta. Three choices of pasta/sauce that changes daily makes for easy decision making and even though it's sad that I may never see the same pasta/sauce combo that I ate one day on another day the possibly of different delicious menu items keeps me coming back. I have never been disappointed.

  • Dana L.

It was ok.. for $9, it's a pretty good pasta! If I worked in the area, I'd definitely hop on by once in a while for some pasta. I was expecting more with all these great reviews, and the pasta's good, just not mind-blowing.

Tough it out the food is worth it! Look for instructions painted up high on the wall to your left as you are standing in line. It's tiny, it's crowded, hard to hear and surrounded by homeless folks. But I guess that's part of what makes it cool. If you're a clean freak bring your own sani-wipes to clean your table lol. I thought it was good food and alot of fun.

Fantastic lunch spot. Go with as few people as possible, since it's crowded and tiny. Check the web site for daily dishes. Absolutely worth the wait and crowds. Well made pasta that is cooked exactly as it should be.

Great pasta, fun location and feel. Wine is able in by the pitcher! Sadly it's only a lunch spot but if you are in the area and looking for a sit down meal it's tough to beat.

  • Michael G.

I don't get the hype at all. I had such high hopes, only to be incredibly disappointed. At best, it was worth the trip just to know I am not missing anything special if I never go back again. It was extremely crowded and hectic in the way too small space, you wait in a very long line to order fast food style, are crowded at communal tables if you can even find a seat, have to deal with runners shouting out the names of the orders, while people are trying their best to avoid bumping into each other, and you have to clean up your own table. Still paid almost $50 for lunch for two including tip. Was not at all worth dealing with any of this or the Pioneer square parking. Maybe I had bad luck with the menu when I went, but the pastas looked nothing like the photos I saw on yelp, and after ordering two salads, two pastas, and bread, nothing really impressed me in terms of portion size, value, or most importantly taste. Italian food and pasta are definitely among my favorite foods in the world. It is incomprehensible to me why so many yelp reviews are so inflated. Really? I believe it is just too many folks caught up in the hype and a lack of context in terms of what real top dining and service experience can be on a national or global stage whether it be formal or ultra casual. Let people keep lining up like cattle and getting treated like fast food diners, eating small portions of average food at best, overpaying, and letting the restaurant owners laugh all the way to the bank. Not for me, and now I am seriously questioning the chef that recommended this place in a well known restaurant guide book.

Do not order food to go! I ate at Corvo for the first time and thought the food was good. I really liked the baby kale salad. I ordered it to go a few days later and when I got back to the office the size was less than half the size as a salad eaten there. Also, the salad did not contain all ingredients. I will not return.

Deeelicious! First some updates: Yes they take all types of credit cards with their new POS system. Next, they do take-out. I did take-out. I can imagine how much better it would have been to eat in, but even with the food slightly cooler, the texture of the pasta was amazing with great flavours - not too salty or saucy. The bucatini was a new one for me and I loved this hollow spaghetti!

I've been to Il Corvo twice and was damn impressed both times. Instead of a wide array of slapped together offerings, there are three pasta dishes prepared to perfection. I've appreciatively devoured the carbonara and Double wide Parpardelle with Heirloom Tomatoes and Asparagus. Noms. Luckily I've gone with friends both times so have also samples ravioli and vegetarian lasagna...nothing has ever disappointed me. Also, I've appreciated the friendly service and care of the owner who is always at the shop, working hard but keeping a sense of humor. I'll definitely keep coming back for the pasta (and the pistachio gelato is nothing to scoff at either!).

This place makes the best hand made pasta in town! My husband and I always go there on lunch dates and we would order a salad, 2 pasta dishes and a side of homemade hot sauce. Wish sell the sauce! I also love that they change the menu daily so you get to try something new everytime!

  • Charlie L.

I like that they hand make thie pasta... i like that they try to be innovative with their prep, but it is honestly prettier than it tasts, and I am not convinced it's worth the steep cost. Not to mention that the portion is so small that I left hungry enough to get a whole second lunch immediately afterwards. Talk about an expensive lunch. For a place in which you mostly serve yourself, it's suggested that I tip 15% according to their iPad (i'm sure there's a way to bypass with another percentage, but it's busy with a long line). Really tacky, in my book. I bought their dry pasta, and cooked it at home with my own sauces. it is pretty good. The packaged pasta gets a 4.5 in my book, but also insanely expensive.

This is a real tasty HITdub (hole-in-the-wall). I decided to somewhat preemptively beat The Line and get some takeout. Some former fixtures remaining from the past burger place is a plus. I love the chai-color walls and wall benches, curtains... one thing interesting (and perhaps it's hit-and-miss) was the rather stuffy scent in the restroom. Not sure if it's normal or someone just cleaned it with saturated cleaning. The food of choice was just the foccacia bread + OO and, I think, the proscuitto meat with pickled celery. The celery had that bitter-sweet contrast flavor with the beat, if that makes sense. The prosc. was thin, salivating goodness. And pretty much any bread + OO to me is amazing... I need to try the pasta sometime.

This was the perfect place to bring my parents for delicious, homemade pasta dishes perfect to share with our group of four. We went right when they opened at 11am, and I'm glad we did; there was a line out the door by 11:30am. It brought back memories of the meals and pasta sauces we had in Italy. If you are looking for huge plates of pasta with tons of sauce, more American style - this is not the place for you. If you are looking for smaller plates to share that feature artisan pasta and inspired sauces made with fresh ingredients - this is the place for you.

  • Joyce J.

This is my new favorite place for pasta; I went back twice in five days and that's a compliment from a Yelp reviewer who rarely visits the same place twice. Il Corvo really has one of the best pastas I have had in Seattle. I find its pasta comparable to that of Ethan Stowell's Tavolata, but the price is more reasonable. The place has three pastas a day (at $9 a plate) and is only open for lunch. The menu is posted online daily. I have tried the rigatoni, with braised beef ragu and lumache with spicy broccoli romanesco with capers, chili, and salsa pomodoro. Both pasta were cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce were perfect compliment of the pasta's texture. The only complaint I saw on Yelp about this place is that the portions are too small. However, with pasta this tasty, I think anyone would complain about not having enough; though I will admit that the portion is on the smaller size but it's good if you just want a light lunch. You can take the pasta to-go and the food comes out pretty fast. I definitely look forward to eating here again.

  • Beatrice L.

im SO glad that I was able to finally try this place. The place is very small, very homey. You order up front and bus your own dishes. Tables are shared, but not a big deal at all. :) we ordered conchiglini and basil bucatin. AWESOME. I was afraid that the conchiglini was going to be buttery but it was perfect. Basil was Super spicy, exactly what i wanted.

If you're looking for fresh pasta, this is the place to go. The pasta is freshly made and cooked to order, which means it comes out of the kitchen steaming hot. The menu only consists of three pasta dishes, but it changes everyday. On the day I went, we ordered a Tagiatelle alla Bolognese, a Cavatelli with lentils and mushrooms, and a side of the homemade focaccia bread. The prices for each of the pastas were around $10, and the bread was around $4. The pasta portions are very small ("European sized"). Don't expect Olive Garden sized portions here, but the quality is far superior. The bolognese was my favorite. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was full of flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of the cavatelli, but it was still good - just not as good as the bolognese. The focaccia was amazing! It was super soft and fluffy, and so good dipped in olive oil. Highly recommend the homemade focaccia bread! This place is only open for lunch on weekdays, which makes it difficult to frequent for anyone who doesn't work in the Pioneer Square area. It was good though, and my only gripe was that the portions were so small. I would probably order two plates just for myself next time, and I am the type of person who usually eats half an entree and packs the other half home.

  • Andy L.

Great, freshly-made pasta, delicious house cured charcuterie, all for a reasonable price. I just wish it was open on the weekends or for dinner. I'm hardly ever in Pioneer Square for lunch!

Believe the hype. Creative flavors. Simple ingredients. Short but effective menu. Each day they offer a pasta of the day and that's typically the best get. My favorite was from the summer: sweet corn, sage and cream. Perfection! Check out their website or social media accounts before you go to see the menu that's updated daily. The only negative is the hours, which is why I didn't get to try it until I worked downtown. Hopefully they will offer dinner or Saturday lunch one day.

This restaurant served the best pasta I have ever eaten. My bf agrees. Simple menu, super sweet order taker, amazing food. We were beaming with love as we shared the most delicious pasta dishes we have had, ever.

I loved this place! it was crowded when we got there so we shared a table with other people. I don't remember the name of the dish we got, but it was a red sauce and the other was a white sauce with a lot of pepper. The red sauce pasta was really good-pasta was perfectly al dente and the white sauce pasta was good, but it had a lot of pepper. we ordered the chili to add to the pasta but it wasn't very spicy at all. good, but not spicy. the kale salad was my favorite. would definitely come back and highly recommend.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place .. still :) All the dishes that I have tried have been amazingggg .. especially their bolognese .. I can't help but order that whenever I come which means I can't try anything else :( Their service is great .. if by the time you're finished ordering and there isn't a seat open, they nicely hint at guests to move along if they are finished with their meals. I can't wait to try their new pizzeria place when it opens! :D I'd recommend getting here early b/c their daily special sometimes gets sold out really fast .. last time when I came they were sold out of the special by 12:30PM (luckily we got there at 12).. they still had the sauce but the pasta itself was all gone. early bird gets the worm :)

It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I will be back very soon! I ordered the "lumache" pasta, which had a base of light cream, with hedgehog mushrooms, sherry, fresh thyme and cream (according to ilcorvopasta.com/2013/11… ). See their website for menu offerings. The texture of the shell noodles was perfect. A bit on the firm side, but if you eat each bite with a good douse of sauce, or mushrooms, it is absolute perfection. I gave $10 for my lunch and was satisfied. Bonus: no need for Tabasco, which I usually ask for when putting in ANY pasta order. Loved the ambiance. It's clean and quaint, and seats less than 100. I was in and out within thirty minutes (table for 1 is not hard to find, around 1pm). Note that you will be sitting next to strangers and couples, and coworkers and friends, if you do come alone. But if you're here solely for the food (which I was), it is a solid great lunch spot. The server shouts your name so everyone in the room can hear it, and brings you your food. You bus your own. The lady with brown curly hair at the cash register had a great memory and was extremely friendly. She managed to remember my name for the 30 minutes I was there and said "Goodbye, Gina!" which was the cherry on top to my experience here. Check it out!!

I don't think pasta can get any better. All pasta handmade and today I ate the gigli (spring garlic and sunchoke cream) it was so tasty. The pasta was perfectly al dente - not overly cooked but still had the perfect amount of chew still. While the portion sizes seem small, I kid you not there is more in the bowl than you expect. Also since the pastas are a little more rich, I think it makes you fuller. I also got the mafalda (salsa verde anchovy sardine and chili) but I haven't eaten it yet. I will send out another update once I kill it. They offer some antipastis like focaccia with olive oil, salami, marinated olives and prosciutto with pickled celery and things but over all the menu is pretty small which makes ordering so much easier. If they run out they run out. It's usually super busy from when they open (11am) till about 1245-1pm. The lady taking orders is so awesome. If you had any questions about the menu, she's your lady. Super helpful, super friendly. Absolutely, hands down best pasta in Seattle. They're open only for lunch 11am-3pm and pasta dishes only run $9+tax. All other items will very but nothing for $7 for an antipasti dish. They're huge on San pellegrino products as well as wine. Win win!!

MMMM! I love pasta. Love the small, ever changing, menu. So much fun to have something truly special just for lunch. This place strikes just the right balance between truly special, carefully (and correctly!) prepared, culinary delights-- and a beautiful/inviting dining room. Thankfully these guys are a bit far from my office for a frequent visit. Otherwise, I'd be here pretty much every day.

The pastas and the food alone deserve FIVE stars. I love the textures of their housemade pastas, and they use such beautiful ingredients --- especially good in the spring and summer when there's a bounty of fresh produce. We had a fresh kale salad last time that was so simple yet full of flavor and complimented our pasta dishes perfectly. If you are especially in the mood for a carb-loaded kind of lunch, you should splurge on the homemade foccacia bread too. I can't give a five star rating to the long lines, the poor parking options or the shady block that they are located on, so my overall rating is a four. Nonetheless, the pastas are so amazing, I'm still willing to put up with some of the inconveniences from time to time.

I used to swear by Cafe Bengodi as the neighborhood pasta spot, but after a series of negative experiences there, I was pretty psyched when Il Corvo moved into the neighborhood (a little competition certainly never hurt anyone). Here's the problem: Il Corvo is SO GOOD, the service is so quick, it's damn cheap (8 or 9 bucks for a perfect pasta portion), and the menu changes every day. UGGGGGH! Not much competition there at all. It's a fast-paced, cute little spot. My only complaint is that they're only open M-F for lunch...when are business owners going to figure out that Pioneer Square residents also get hungry on the weekends?

  • Tiffany S.

Eating at this establishment was quite a unique experience. It's not your typical service as you order at the register and pick up your own food. Their menu is ever changing and you can only order one of the few items they have listed for the day. I got the pesto pasta. OMG. the bar has just been reset for pesto, that's for sure. very unique flavors. and the pasta was cooked perfectly, just how i like it. the atmosphere is very laid back, lots of wood and originality. and even thought the staff doesn't wait on you they were still super friendly and attentive. highly highly recommended.

I went to Il Corvo for the first time and ordered the pappardelle pasta with bolognese sauce. What a disgrace to Italian cooking. This was so bad especially the smell that I couldn't even eat it. My Italian ancestors would be rolling in their grave. If I could give no stars I would. I am definitely not returning. It's incomprehensible how people would line up out the door for this food!

The most amazing pasta I've had in Seattle! The forced communal seating is interesting, but not offputting. I got the Kale Salad and the Pappardelle Bolognese, and both were very good. I'm not even usually a fan of kale!

    (5)
  • Paul H.

Best pasta spot I've found in Seattle. It's small, busy and filled with communal style seating. Not the best setting for a leisurely lunch unless you arrive after 1 because others will be waiting for your seat. As long as you're ok with that, GO! The staff is super friendly, and you get the feeling that there is a high level of passion and excitement in what they're producing. The pasta had beautiful texture and refined flavors. Also the prosciutto with the marinated celery is the best celery I've ever had. Yeah, I just reviewed celery on yelp. It's that serious. Keep up the good work Il Corvo!

  • Angel I.

$9 for FRESH, HANDMADE PASTA. Il Corvo Pasta is simply amazing. Their menu rotates every day, with 3 pastas to choose from. They are only open from 11am-2pm Monday through Friday, so you have to come here during the work week. Every now and then, I will take a break from the upper part of downtown and make the trek to Il Corvo Pasta with friends for plate of their pasta. Each plate is $9 after tax, but please tip them!!

  • Katherine S.

Delicious!! They have a new menu every day. You never know what you'll get but every single dish is wonderful. The only downside is that they're only open for lunch, so if you work M-F, then you'll never be able to try this restaurant.

  • Shari d.

My office orders from here on a weekly basis depending on the rotating menu. We are big fans of any of their items with cream sauce as they seem to know the perfect amount of sauce to add to the dishes. Today was an extra big treat as they had spaghetti with Bottarga, olive oil, garlic, and chilies. It was SO good! Another favorite of mines is the browned butter with celery root and sage cream sauce. I have been waiting for that one to show up on the menu again. I am partial to their spaghetti, linguinie, and pappardelle rather than the pastas that come in smaller shapes as I find the texture is a little softer which is a preference of mines. If you haven't been here you should go soon. And get there early as the lines can get pretty long.

Great handmade pasta! One of my favorite is the ink squid pasta. They also have olives, salads, cured meats and other dishes for starters. I love how they have a rotating menu everyday. They have a blog you can follow and it tells you what they are serving for the day! It tends to get crowded and you may have to share tables with others. The food comes out quickly though.

Great pasta, loved the fiore, hated the bolognese though. Tasted like mole. However, the other dishes were fabulous. Foccacia - who knew it could be so wonderful? Even dessert cookies were lovely. Reasonable prices, busy lunch crowd, vibrant environment.

If you could post emoji on Yelp my review would solely consist of the heart-shaped googly-eyed face. Unfortunately, emoji are limited to people with Apple products or apps that activate them so I will have to actually write a real review. Il Corvo re-opened this year in Pioneer Square (apparently home of Seattle's very own "Little Italy" according to LivingSocial or something like that... I had no idea) next to Chuck's Hole In The Wall which emanates its own slew of enticing aromas, but that's not enough to deter me from my target destination of pasta heaven. The space is small and their hours are limited (open for weekday lunch only) which can only mean that it gets packed and you can probably expect a line extending to or out the door. Don't let that scare you away because I promise the wait is pretty short and definitely worth it. The line is also helpful because it gives you time to decide what you want by the time you make it to the front of the line... trust me, it'll be a hard decision as you watch everybody else happily eating their food. The pastas are hand made each day and there are three pasta options with their own respective sauces. They also offer three additional sauces that you can switch out and if I remembered at all how factorials work I'd make myself sound really smart right here by telling you how many different combinations that could give you, but the only answers I can really come up with are either 6 or 720 and I know that they're both wrong because I think the answer is probably closer to 18. Regardless, if there's a pasta you want to try and you're not too stoked on the default order, have no fear because you can switch it up. Each pasta dish is $9 and appears small to the average gluttonous American, but is actually quite filling. Their noodles are cooked al dente for that satisfying firmness and they vary by day so you can't be guaranteed the same dish options if you return, say, the next day like I wish I could do five days in a row each week. They're pretty much all fantastic so I highly recommend that you approach this place with a plan to try all three, whether that means coming with two friends and each getting one, coming with one friend and splitting three, coming by yourself and beating your body into a carbohydrate-induced coma of submission, or any other creative options you may come up with. Don't worry too much because they DO have to-go boxes so you don't have to feel bad for over-ordering. My final words of wisdom are to keep a supply of breath mints or an apple on hand. Garlic is delicious, but the smell on your breath inspires envy from your coworkers (or more likely offends them) when you return to the office.

My second day of jury duty brought me to this tiny pasta house. Line out the door, but the staff handled it well. Not a place for a romantic meal (maybe at dinnertime? I was there for lunch), but Il Corvo has a wonderful atmosphere. Stand in line, choose one of the 3-4 of the day's offerings, and find a seat. They'll bring you the food. Simple enough, and there were no mixups. The serving was definitely ample for lunch. One observation: the place was filled with women, about 90%. Totally the opposite from my previous day's lunch at Tat's Deli (all men!). I was so surprised by the difference. there were a few men here, but definitely older than the guys at Tat's Deli. But, if it matters to you: this place has my recommendation as a place for men to meet women!

I understand what all the hype is about, great fresh pasta served up fast. It's a very small space that's a bit of a tight squeeze. But, again; pasta is amazing, service is prompt and friendly. I'd go back again, hopefully soon!

The pasta here is perfection. We came here for lunch mid-week and ordered all three pasta dishes and shared. My boyfriend said it was the best pasta he'd ever eaten in a restaurant! Highly recommend.

We've eaten here a couple of times and have really enjoyed it -- reminds us of our trip to Italy last year. The flavors are amazing and the portion sizes are "just right," which might be on the smaller side for here (but are on-par with what we found in Italy), but it was less than $10. It's only open during lunch on the weekdays, so we're only able to make it there every so often. I do have a hard time with the overall experience because it's always so crowded. The line is from the cashier to the front door and the tables are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you can order your food and then have to stand there stalking for a table and keeping your eye out for who might be leaving and hope that someone that just walked in the door doesn't get a table before someone standing there with their food in-hand (and has unfortunately resulted in some awkward situations). I really have a hard time with enjoying this overall experience, despite how good the food is.

WOW! I had the tagliatelle bolognese and a side of the focaccia bread. It was wonderful. The bolognese sauce had a little hint of spice but perfectly balanced. The topping of the grated cheese was just the right amount to make it awesome. It isn't air-conditioned but anytime after the warm weather is gone, it shouldn't be a problem. They only make 3 pasta dishes and when they are gone, it is erased from the board and you have to make another decision. It is not a "fine dining" type establishment, but the taste and quality are top notch. Parking can be tough, but it is worth the search and stopping in here for lunch!!!

Fantastic pasta, all handmade! The menu changes often, so be prepared for anything (pasta related). Also, come with a very small group, no more then four, as the restaurant is very small.

This place is truly one-of-a-kind. He makes the pastas, his wife rings customers and gives fabulous customer service, and then they get to make+eat dinner and spend time with their daughter after work. That's my kind of place. Rumor has it that he is opening a pizza place later this year? We can't wait. He makes three different types of pastas with different sauces daily. Follow his blog for daily posts. It's a bit al dente for my taste, but I'm no pasta connessiuer The foccacia bread here is DIVINE. Literally the best I've had. You must order it. Overall, a greatplace with handmade everything and delicious food.

I absolutely love this place. If I could eat here everyday, I would. You can find AUTHENTIC handmade pasta that actually tastes like you're in Italy, having traveled there last year, I can attest to the quality and techniques that are used. The ability for the Chef to utilize different types of grains, flour and pairing them up with seasonal ingredients and sauces make this place a winner. They only offer 3 pasta dishes (changes daily) so it makes picking what you want for lunch easy! Plus, each dish is under $10. But if you're hungry, you would probably need two to put a smile on your face. TIP: If you arrive at 12PM like everyone else, you're likely to have a 30 minute wait with about 25 people deep. Go an hour before or after to avoid extremely long lines.. unless you like that kinda thing.

Let's get two things out of the way: (1) Yes, it is crowded. (2) Yes, the portions are "small." But, it's not that crowded. I waited in line for 15 minutes, got my order within 5 minutes. I chose to get it to go and not sit, but my husband and I could have found seating if we chose to. The service is also very good. It's not like a standard hole in the wall place where you are expected to fend for yourself for seating. You do have to get your own water, and utensils, but the person taking orders and bus boys are very helpful in finding seating. I was surprised how much they facilitated the seating (as it seems like it is first come first serve). Finally, the portions. The portions are pretty standard for rich pasta. Because the meal is quite heavy and rich, you really don't need very much. My party of 2 ordered the 3 daily pastas, ate around 12:30 and didn't have to eat, snack, or anything until 6:30. So, even if they are small, they seem to do the job of filling you up. The quality of the pasta is very good. I can't wait to go back! Also, if you're looking for the menu, check their website. They post it every day! ***As of my visit (12/30/13), they do take credit cards!!!***

Oh my God...I am shocked. I loved this place when I came 1.5 years ago but I came back the other day and it was salty salty salty. I had a lemon pesto pasta with anchovies and downed it with 4 glasses of water. No joke. For their tiny portions. The pasta was a little more dry than I like it which is hard considering they cook it very al dente. Now I like chewy but don't make it chewy, dry AND salty. Even their bread is a little on the salty side for me. I would also suggest this place offer fresh parmesan. Oh and portions are $9 now. 3 stars because the pasta itself is really well-made and their instinct for flavors is spot-on. I still have hope in Il Corvo. Just lay off the salt and sprinkle a little more EVOO man.

Good pasta, very straight forward pasta w/normally 3 different pasta to choose from. U can't beat the prices for quality pasta and they sell out fast. I would come back if I am ever in the neighborhood.

Italian cuisine of spirit elevating quality and true to home deliciousness is often served as surprisingly small portions with a side of snobbiness and ending with a dreaded bank account pillaging receipt. To walk into this establishment and find one does not have to part with a kidney or a first born in order to enjoy truly awe-inspiring pasta served with modesty and humbleness, this provides me great hope that the generosity and kindness of strangers is still alive and well. In our lives, we are besieged from all sides with truly terrible food served by half-assed restaurant owners driven by nothing more than humanity's greatest downfall - Greed. Not to say good restaurants shouldn't be able to charge a premium, but it is nice to be able to enjoy something so delicious at a reasonable cost. At the same time however, many restaurants that exist are pillars of greed personified. Il Corvo exists as a holy lighthouse that shines with bright beacons of pure light into the hearts of those pillars, reminding all of us how the world can be, that it is possible to serve a quality $8 hand-made decent sized plate of pasta - that they don't have to gouge the price just because they can.

Beautiful food doesn't belong in an ugly to-go box. Yesterday I stomped through dirty puddles of water settled on the cobblestone road, zig-zagged my way through awestruck tourists crowding up the market, and trekked down the Pike Place Hillclimb stairs. My agenda was to try the pasta at Il Corvo. With less than one hour of my lunch break I asked the employee at the register if I could take my food to go. The employee wanted to check with the chef. While she did that I decided to take a picture of the menu on the whiteboard. She came back and said that it's best not to take it to go. "Hmmm..." I thought to myself. "Could it be that good?" I accepted her response but I did not want to leave empty handed. I ordered a scoop of gelato. I got back to work and consulted my co-worker. Co-worker's response: The chef is probably QC-ing his work. I consulted a friend a couple hours later. Friend's response: It's probably better hot on a plate anyway than eating it from a box. Determined to still try their pasta I came back today. I took a faster route back to the restaurant with more time to spare for my lunch hour. I ordered the Spaghetti alla Puttanesca. It tasted pretty good. I was also happy I had a place to sit. It was busy yesterday and it was busy today. I finished it all. When I was done I walked up to the gelato counter and spoke with a couple employees. I thanked them for encouraging me not to take away their food in a to-go box yesterday. The female employee asked if they said it in a nice way. I said yes, smiled, and left the restaurant full and happy.

BELIEVE THE HYPE. This place is good. A get-to-business-we-do-pasta-botches kinda place. Only been here once (so far) and loved it. You order at the counter from a chalkboard with three or four options prepared for the day. There are some limited appetizer options too. The marinated olives are quite scrumptious. The pasta is prepared perfectly, just slight al dente. The sauce is fresh and divine. I can't remember exactly what we ordered (though I'm not sure it'll be that relevant to you as it seems their options vary dramatically every day) but I remember being thoroughly impressed. It's clear they know their pasta. And it's clear this is no secret. This small joint fills up quickly so get here early.

Whoa. This is the best pasta I've had since I lived in Italy (I spent 5 months there). Everything from the pasta, to the sauce, to the portion, and the price was spot on. I tried the fusilli alla bolognese, one of the three daily pasta choices. I haven't favored food like this in a long time. It was well set up by my 'antipasta' dish Caponata which was full of flavor and fresh vegetables which maintained their crisp despite the marination. The space is cozy, service is quick and friendly. Just make sure you get there early or off-peak to avoid the long lines that can form!

    1. Everything Il Corvo puts out, hands down, is made of unicorns and rainbows and makes your mouth orgasm in joy. Even if the day's 3 items don't *seem* interesting, no matter what you get, it's mind blowing and ridiculous. ALWAYS. 2. I'm having a hard time understanding how anyone can say 'it's expensive' - guys, it's $9 for restaurant-quality pasta, and it's a big portion. wtf do you expect, 4.99 on a paper plate or something? So confused by the price argument 3. Like the pike's place location lines are crazily long but it moves quickly, pasta comes out quickly, and tables cycle quickly 4. If you work near Il Corvo and don't go to it every day you are a horrible excuse for a human being :( -Kim, who doesn't work downtown and thus never has a chance to eat at Il Corvo, but would live, bathe and die in a tub of that pasta

Delciious delicious pasta for cheap prices..my only slight complaint is that the portion sizes were a little too small for me..however, I do realize that most people are not as hungry as me and so it might be enough to satisfy the vast majority of people. Yes, it is crowded and there can be a line, but it seems like the turnover is pretty quick so I didn't see anyone who couldn't get a seat when they were actually looking for one. But seriously..nom.

Insanely popular. Lines out the door by 1130 am even on cold days. Tables turn over fast. For two people, best to order one each of the three specials and split them among you. Goes really well with red wine too.

This place was recommended to me by a Seattlian.I arrived a quarter before they opened and shortly later there was a line forming behind me. I was told they sell out and if they do thats it. They don not make more. It was a cute lil restaurant with very straight forward instructions of how to order. You do bus your own table and the menu changes from day-to-day. No doubt the pasta was on point. I ordered the pappardelle bolognese, casarecce black truffle mushroom and gnocchi tomato red pepper, kale salad and the focaccia bread. Every dish was delicious including the pasta cooked to perfection. My only gripe is that the portions were fairly small for the price. I wished it was a slightly more generous in portion.

So so good all the time. Whenever I am downtown during lunch, I always try to stop by. Only if it's early enough though because I don't like lunch crowds. Anyway, I ordered something mushroom saucy, and my hubs got bolognese. Both yum. I am not all that crazy about their focaccia bread however, but the olive oil is delish. How do they make their pasta so fresh and chewy and al dente - in other words perfect like that all the time?

  • Diane J.

Wow. I know handmade pasta is supposed to be better (obviously) than store-bought stuff, but not THAT much better. The place is small, and the first time I tried looking for it, I just walked right past it, but once you go in, you realize it's super busy, for a good reason. My friend wanted to come here, and by the time our food came out, though, we were still able to get seats together--all of the tables are shared. I can't really remember the names of our dishes, but I ordered some awesome focaccia (which was a little expensive for how much we got, but worth it) and thought my noodles were pretty much perfect. I don't like mushy pasta, but this stuff was chewy, warm, and flavorful. Also, two of their three or four dishes changed while we were there, so I guess their plates really frequently. Altogether a nice, if busy lunch spot definitely worth checking out!

A la cart pasta joint. Small, daily menu comprised of well executed but small pasta plates and salads. Good, affordable wine selection. Love how each item is made of maybe 4~5 ingredients. Parking can be tricky due to being located near skid row, expect long lines that move fast. Olive garden, take note.

Tiny restaurant, order and pay then sit. Don't dare sit before or you will get a talking to (we saw this happen during our visit to another customer). The food we had was excellent, I definitely recommend getting the chilli to go on top of your pasta. The line builds up quickly, so come right when they open to ensure prompt service!

Il Corvo is one of those places that you hear about around town. People rarely refer to it by name and instead know of it as "that delicious Italian place with the long line and changing menu." The food is incredible as is the line. I'd highly recommend going right when they open or around 1:45 pm or later. We showed up today at 1:30 and still had to wait for a table. It's that busy and that good. Pro tip: the menu changes daily so check out their website in advance to see what they're serving.

I've been wanting to go to Il Corvo for years, but I've never been in the area when they've been open (weekday lunches only, 11-3). I had also hoped to bring my partner along so we could share two (or maybe even three) things and I could try more than one item, but that proved even more logistically difficult and when I was in the area for an errand today I finally decided to just go for it on my own. I had kinda been secretly hoping that Il Corvo was overrated and wasn't actually as awesome as everyone says..... but it totally is. As others have said, there's a small menu of three pastas each day (you can check the day's specials at the website: ilcorvopasta.com ) plus a few appetizers. I'm not sure if those also change, but today it was kale salad, olives, prosciutto with pickled celery, and foccacia bread. You can also get a side of hot peppers. They serve wine and bottled/canned Italian drinks (San Pellegrino, etc.) It's a pretty narrow and skinny space (maybe 15 feet wide?), but they have the whole flow down to a science. Stand in line, order, then find a seat. They will call your name when your pasta is ready; raise your hand and they'll bring it to you. With how the pacing flows, I never saw anyone unable to find a seat, although two parties of two may need to share four-person tables, which might be a bit awkward for some. There's one large "communal table" near the door for individuals. Being there alone, I was a bit nervous about the whole communal table thing, but it's really not as awkward as I feared. It's not too cramped; it's basically like sitting at a bar. I arrived at about 1:00 and was in line for about half an hour. It was totally worth it though. I was having trouble deciding between two of today's pastas: baked tomato-pasta manicotti with ricotta, mushrooms and smoked mozzarella béchamel vs. fusilli with basil-parsley-mint pesto. I love baked pasta but am not really a fan of mushrooms. While I was in line debating, the choice was made for me: they ran out of the baked manicotti. They switched in another third choice, but it didn't sound as appealing to me. So, fusilli it was! I didn't order any sides since the amount of salad and bread looked more like a portion for two people. "Basil-parsley-mint pesto" is the description from the website, but I believe the chalkboard in the store also listed walnut? Whatever it was, it tasted amazing. Rich, creamy, and packed with well-balanced flavors. The pasta was a little chewy but also soft. The pasta was topped with some high-quality Parmesan cheese, yum. With just the pasta, I wasn't entirely full, though. Maybe I would have been if it had been one of the meat options. But if you have a medium-sized appetite and you're with another person I'd recommend ordering at least one appetizer/side to split. Between waiting in line, ordering, and eating, I was there for about 45 minutes. When I left at 1:45 there was still a line out the door (although it is Friday, which the staff said is their busiest day). So, you should probably allow about that much time unless the line is short. One thing I'm not sure about it is if they take the last order at 3 (and if you're still in line you're out of luck) or if they close the line at 3 and let the people who are in line already order. Bonus: the restroom smells like vetiver! Now there's an air freshener you don't smell every day.

Perfect, handmade, al dente pasta with so many flavors. They usually only have three or so pastas every day and it rotates on a daily basis. The hubby had a pappardelle bolognese and I had some unique pasta with veggies. Both dishes were incredible! If we had Il Corvo in our city, we'd probably be there every week. Just note that this place is only open during lunch.

Do you have a hard time picking what to eat from all the vast options on menus? Il Corvo makes it simple for you since there are three rotating pastas on the menu to choose from. After seeing the countless reviews from my Yelp friends pop up on my news feed, I bookmarked the place and attempted to find a good time to come. It's only open Monday-Friday so if you are only free on the weekends, it might be difficult to take a bite from this place. Furthermore, it is only serving up pasta during lunch time. Il Corvo has a Twitter and blog that posts their three pastas for the day before the place opens. It opens at 11 am and we arrived at 11:15 am. There are a few tables and only three left when we arrived. The rules are that you order and then you find a table. There is no saving of tables while someone else waits in line to order. People seem to respect these rules though. Also, you will have to share tables with others if there is space. Everyone is friendly and hungry for pasta though so no one should really bother you. We were just able to snag a table before all of them filled up. We ordered each of the pastas on the menu and paid at the front. After a few minutes, my name was called and our pastas were brought to the table. They are beautiful pieces of pasta artwork! Each one smelled and looked delicious. By the time our pasta came out, there was a line out the door! Get here early! We tried the housemade foccacia bread to snack on while waiting. It was perfectly fluffy and had an mouthwatering cheesey crisp crust on top. Small dips in the oil made this bread a great snack and appetizer. The first pasta I tried was the Pasta Mista with basil-shiso pumpkin seed pesto. It is a vibrant green color and tastes of pesto and veggies! If you aren't too big on veggies, I'm not sure if you will like this leafy tasting pasta. Being a veggie lover though, I loved this one. The next pasta was the Rigatoni with zucchini, cherry tomato, chili, olive and ricotta. This pasta was so amazing! It tasted so light and summery in my mouth. There are subtle notes of cheese and just a light, tomato sauce on top. My favorite hands down of the three. The last pasta was the Pappardelle alla Bolognese. This was probably my least favorite of the three. It was abnormally salty with every bite. Still edible, but it took a lot of water to go back for more. I eventually stopped due to salt overload. Not sure if it's usually this salty or not. The workers are very friendly. Not much service since you grab your own water, napkins and utensils from the station at the front. You also bus your own table afterwards. The portion size is pretty decent. It may look small, but it is very filling. We barely made it through the three and I think we could have just stuck with two. However, I wanted to try all the pastas! Overall, I see why this place has so much hype. The pasta is consistently cooked to al dente and the sauces are simple but extravagant. Craving some professionally unique pasta? Il Corvo has got you.

From their rotating three pasta menu to the "first come, first seated" concept, this restaurant isn't much in terms of bells and whistles. And yet, you'd be hard pressed to find a time when there isn't a line. When it comes down to it, Il Corvo is simply about great pasta Be sure to note the "Il Corvo Etiquette" sign on the wall which tells you to place your order first and then scout out a spot. Utensils and water are also self-served and can be found at the front of the restaurant. As aforementioned, Il Corvo has a fairly simple menu - a variety of antipasti dishes (the focaccia bread looks amazing!) and a selection of three pasta dishes that change daily. I've tried a few so far: -Pappardelle Bolognese - A fairly straightforward dish, I want to say that this is one of the staples and is consistently on the menu. -Tagliarini with Salsa Verde - The light and zesty taste of the pasta makes it a great choice for the summer. Il Corvo can get quite.. cozy during the lunch rush. With a limited number of tables, it's common to find yourself sharing your table with a few other people. If the idea of making new tablemates doesn't entice you (haha!), at least swing by for some handmade, carb-y goodness. ;)

Half an hour before the place even opened, and there was already a line past all the barber shops next door...it was crazy! The rules here were fair too: order first, take a table, and then eat. The decorations inside were simple and adorable, the menu on the blackboard was easy to read and didn't have much so there were less items to choose from. My party and I shared the housemade focaccia, prosciutto, kale salad, pappardelle pasta, casarecce pasta, and lumache pasta! Even though the place was PACKED and more people were lined out the door, the food came out pretty fast. The housemade focaccia and prosciutto were AMAZING!! I don't know what kind of herbs/spices they put in that bread, probably crack--nevertheless, I wanted more! The prosciutto tasted awesome and looked like shiny sheets of godly meat. I don't really eat kale unless it's toasted or blended, so the kale salad was alright to me. The pappardelle pasta (alla bolognese) was my party's main favorite out of the three pastas, I personally liked the casarecce (sun-gold tomatoes and basil) with the sweetness from the tomatoes. All pastas were cooked al dente, which was a bit more hard than what I normally eat, but it was def good! This place has a great and speedy service, WONDERFUL focaccia and prosciutto, and yummy al dente pastas! Def get here early!

Awesome pasta. Great price. Efficient and friendly service. What more could you ask for? It's only open during lunch time on weekdays, and the menu is 3 rotating pasta dishes with salad items. We ordered their wheat pasta with anchovies, Bolognese pappardelle, olives, and prosciutto with pickled celery. We didn't order wine, but I did notice that it was only $4/glass. The pasta was cooked perfectly and it was absolutely delicious, probably the best pasta I've had since visiting Italy. We devoured everything. Portions are not crazy American sized portions, but just right and probably the way it should be. One of our favorite restaurants while we were in Seattle. Recommend! tip: Definitely order their spicy chili condiment for $1, added a lot of flavor to our food. Don't be discouraged by the wait, it moves pretty fast and turnovers are quick.

OMG Best pasta ever! I actually heard about this place while reading the Aziz Ansari book, Modern Romance, and decided to check it out. It was only open for lunch and I heard it got crowded fast so we went here as soon as we got in town, even before we stopped at our hotel! We almost couldn't find the location because it had a small hole in the wall appearance but luckily we didn't give up looking. Each day they have four homemade pastas with different sauces to choose from. We chose a linguine like pasta with a spicy red sauce and a shell like pasta with a pesto sauce. They were both to die for! Probably one of the best pastas I have ever tasted. I'm so glad we each got a pasta and tried each others because we were able to try half the menu. We also got the focaccia bread with the oil which was a great start to the meal while waiting on the pasta. I'm so glad we got here early because by 11:30 the line was out the door and all the seating was taken up. This is a must check out venue in Seattle! If you do go later on I would say it would be worth the wait.

I had been wanting to come here for the longest time, and I finally did last week. For me and my girlfriend who was visiting, we ordered a salad and three pastas. Insane, but I really wanted to try them all because who knew when I would be back? I also read that the portions are small... but they're not so don't be fooled by the reviews. The pasta size is totally enough for a lunch. My favorite was the ragu with the curly pasta, the texture was perfect, and the sauce was a bit heavy but delicious. My second favorite was the pesto spaghetti because it was a good portion but it felt light and healthy, if that's even possible for pasta. The turnip white sauce was OK, not my favorite, so we wrapped that up to go for leftovers later, for some reason, I liked it better after it had been microwaved. Weird. Anyway, the restaurant is cute with cool posters hanging around, and service is quick and efficient. You bus your own table, but you get to refill your water as many times as you want. Ideal for a quick lunch spot.

Ehh, I thought this place was too hyped up for me. I wasn't planning to order pasta because I wasn't hungry but after reading so many reviews about their handmade pasta, I thought I would give it a try. The pasta in my opinion was too hard and the sauce was kind of bland for me. I didn't finish the plate despite the fairly small portion size. I wish I had tried either the kale salad or the cucumbered prosciutto instead, but since I'm a tourist I don't think I would be back.

Their pasta is good. Worth the wait in line. My hubby really liked their coconut lemon drink. I enjoyed the daily pasta we tried, meat and vegetable(pepper). Yum and fulfilling. There's something about that carb load haha. I wish there's more meat or a side dish option since I'm a meat lover, but meat sauce will do too!

Best pasta I've had! The owner is Super friendly & took our order! Go early the line will be out the door. We went mid week and the line was out the door! Get in line, order your food then find a spot to eat. It'll work Out! ENJOY!

Wow, this place is amazing. I wanted to visit over a weekend trip to the city, but they aren't open on weekends! :( It just so happened that we missed our flight and stayed in Seattle on a Monday. Woohoo! We got to go to Il Corvo Pasta! :) It was amazing. It lived up to its hype. Reminded me of a place I've been wanting to go to in Dallas forevaaaaa but can never get a reso. So Il Corvo is only open M-F, for lunchtime, I believe 11a-3p. We came around 1ish. Line wasn't too bad. Ordered the kale salad (delish!), two entrees, the lemon/coconut soft drink, and a bottle of red wine. Kale salad came out immediately. For the entrees, we got 1. Mafalda, with a Zucchini, Summer Squash and Olive Ragu, and 2. Pappardelle, alla Bolognese. Both were fantastic! They came out within ten minutes, hot from the kitchen. The wine was excellent as well. Everyone was SO nice at the restaurant. The music was on point. Weather was great outside, wish they had patio seating! Appreciated the decor as well. Nothing wrong with this place at all. I wish I could go everyday for lunch. Recommend for any Seattle local or tourist during the work week.

Summary: Love the concept and the food lived up. Food: Fresh-made pasta with a rotating menu or 3 dishes every day. Tried all 3 when I went in and all of the pastas were cooked very well. The overall dish flavor ranged from okay to quite good. The bread was delicious and a nice side. Service: Is pretty busy most times of most days but they work quickly. Value: Location: Convenient to get to from most of downtown. It's pretty small inside with limited seating and the line goes between the 2 rows of tables. With this it's not the most relaxing environment to eat in. Comments: Look online to see what's available each day before deciding to go. There won't always be an option that sounds appealing to you.

il corvo reminds me of salumi a lot. long skinny place, with horrendous lines. there's not a lot of places to sit, but the people will come. we stood out in the rain for about 5 minutes before actually making it inside and it was another 15 to order food. the ordering is quick and it actually goes pretty quickly. we both went with the pappardelle a la bolognese. rich, meaty and oh so hearty. it was a meal. i would come here again, but come earlier to try and avoid the rush. you bus your own tables, which is not fun, because you have to fight your way up front to the station with the used cutlery. with a big crowd, that's not fun.

Amazing. Humble and modest pasta served during primarily lunch hours only for a very affordable price (~$10 - $13/dish). The menu changes daily based on seasonal ingredients and the inspirations of the chef in sure :) Absolutely loved the perfectly cooked al dente pasta dishes and boar carpaccio. If you like it spicy make sure to spend the extra dollar or two for the chiles. It gets crowded and seats are limited so go early to grab a table. Bon a petit!

Has it been almost 3 years since I wrote a review for Il Corvo? I can't believe how time flies... When I first visited Il Corvo, they were located in a small gelato shop near Pike Place Market. Their new location in Pioneer Square is a major upgrade: spacious, nice natural lighting and I have yet experienced them run out of food like their previous location. Another change I appreciate (but my wallet hates) is that they do take cards. Although they are open during weekday lunches, they recently started hosting dinners a couple times a month, which is reservations only. I have yet been to one though. The menu concept is still the same: three pasta dishes that change daily with some sides and wine by the glass is very affordable! Of the 3 years I have dined at Il Corvo, I have NEVER had an underwhelming meal. Whether its their lasagna (one of the best I have ever experienced), spicy squid ink pastas, malfada with butternut squash and blue cheese, or their parpadelle bolognaise, everything has been memorable. I love bringing out of town guests to Il Corvo for lunch, it's always a safe choice since they always request me to take them back here! **Pro Tip** I recommend following their blog for updates such as what pastas will be served, recipes and related news: ilcorvopasta.com

i finally got to stop by this place for lunch today and now i know why its so popular. They are only open for lunch M-F and it gets pretty busy! They keep it interesting for those working downtown by having different pastas on their menu daily. I ordered the Beet Juice tagliatelle with Turnip Sauce and it was fresh and cooked perfectly. The tuscan kale salad was also a great complement to the meal. my friend ordered the Fennel conchiglie which looked like gnocchi at first but the flavors had more of a kick than my dish! lots of herbs and olive oil flavor while mine was more creamy. Great italian stop for visitors as well~!

We went at 1:00, and the line moved fast. I ordered all three of the pastas offered, the kale salad, prosciutto with pickled celery, and focaccia. We loved the pomodoro with chard sauce best. It was rich with a little kick. Just perfect! The braised beef with fig was good as well. We didn't like the pesto as much. You can't go wrong with prosciutto, but the pickled celery that came with it was so tart and tasty. It was a great contrast to the rich prosciutto. We enjoyed the focaccia with the prosciutto as well. Kale salad was also delicious and filling. It was a simple vinaigrette with grated parmesan. Pastas were $9, prosciutto $7, focaccia $3.50 (I think), and kale salad $5. The prices were great, which made the meal even better! We ordered and finished the meal in all of 30 minutes or so. We may have wolfed down the meal, but it was a busy day, and I regretted paying for parking in an expensive lot. Try to park on the street if you can.

Wow I haven't had 5 star food for a long long time. The pasta here are cooked perfectly, just simply al dente, not too hard yet not mushy. The fact that the pasta are handmade but achieved the al dente texture: simply awesome. Today's menu include: Pappardelle alla bolognese Fiori rossi with kohlrabi buttermilk sauce: my favorite, creamy but not heavy, the kohlrabi adds great texture to the dish (think slow cooked broccoli stalk). The flower shaped pasta is beautiful when beet juice is mixed in for the pink color. Could not stop eating!!! Tagliatelle with spicy frutti di mare sauce The Tuscan kale salad was so flavorful, didn't get to ask what was in the dressing, but tart, savory, nutty, with a light cream consistency. It was a great lunch, and too bad they only serve lunch. I got there 3 minutes before it opens on a Wednesday, a line was formed out the door, everyone has read their blog post and knew what to order!

Wow. Talk about a blow-your-mind kind of pasta. I was in Seattle for work and visited here for lunch. There was quite the line, and I was worried about being able to get a seat but it was no problem and well worth it. Delicious bolognese, delicious lasagna, no complaints. I went back the next day to try something else, and I'd go back again.

This place is fantastic. Hearty portions of pasta around $10 or under, with rotating daily flavors. The pasta texture is so insanely good - super al dente and the sauces are divine. The focaccia bread and the kale salad starter were amazing as well. Sad that they're only open for lunch on weekdays!

I had the Black Pepper Tonnarelli, with Pecorino and Spring Garlic. It was very good, nice cheese/saltiness to garlicky ratio and plenty of quality olive oil. The pasta itself was just right - not overcooked, not undercooked - just that right chewy bite. Now I know what that 'al dente' business is about! The surrounding area is Pioneer Square, so some shady characters hanging around at all hours. The shop itself is tucked into a space between 2nd and 3rd, and the interior is beautiful and a bit rustic. Dark blues and distressed wood and exposed lightbulbs. There's enough seating, you could go with a group of 6 people max I'd say. I went at 11:15 am before there was any rush so I didn't have to wait in any line and I got my food in about 8 minutes. I took it to go, but there was definitely enough seating if I wanted it. But there aren't 2-seater tables, and I, as a lone diner, did not want to hog a 4-person table. It cost less than $11, but I didn't feel like the portion size was very large (and it was also vegetarian, if there was meat involved, the price would have been justified). In terms of a value, I wouldn't say it delivers. Next time, I will get the kale salad (about $6), saw the heaping portion on another person's plate and it looked great!

Date of service: Nov 6, 2014 Meal: Lunch, dine in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 8 Food to Spend Value: 6 Quality of Service: 5 Overall Rating: 6 I have walked by Il Corvo many times. At lunchtime there is always a line out the door, and I wondered what the fuss was all about. I am half Italian and am always skeptical about Italian places since they rarely meet my expectations. A friend wanted to go for lunch, and based on reviews it seemed like a top notch place, so off I went! When you arrive, you get in line to wait to place your order, and once you have ordered you find a place to sit. Given how busy it gets, this place is not ideal for large groups, unless you arrive as their doors open. They have the day's menu items written on a chalkboard near the register, and they change on a daily basis (though evidently they recycle in some fashion). They have 3 pastas, a number of antipasti options, and wines and other drinks. On this day we chose the house made foccacia and prosciutto with pickled celery as our antipasti and Pappardelle alla Bolognese and Whole Wheat Gigli with turnip bay cream sauce as our pasta options. The foccacia was fantastic, as was the prosciutto. The pastas arrived next, and they admittedly were a bit of a mixed bag. The pasta itself was obviously homemade and was perfectly made. I was pretty nonplussed by the sauces, though. They were also obviously homemade but were quite bland and in general didn't have much flavor. I was particularly disappointed by the Bolognese, as I had a hard time even classifying it as such. Reading through other reviews people rave about the food here, but I was only half impressed. We finished with a semolina shortbread cookie which was quite nice. The prices aren't too bad, but the portions are pretty small, so in order to get full you really have to order multiple things. With long lines and the need to seat yourself, it is hard to give a high service rating. The food is all exceptionally prepared, and I really enjoyed the antipasti and the pasta portion of the pasta dishes, but I was quite disappointed with the sauces. I really want to give a higher rating, but I just can't do it. Given its proximity to my office, I am likely to give it a second chance, as it has a lot of great things going for it, and the numbers it draws plus the other reviews tells me I may have just hit an off day.

I am not sure what one needs to add after so many great reviews. They are all true. The place is fantastic! I came here with a coworker a couple of weeks ago and we had a great experience. The way this place is setup and decor reminded us of places in Poland. Small, but buzzing with people, simple interior with muted colors, but full of ambiance and charm, grab a table kind of a spot. We scored a table and devoured our pastas. Mind you- this is going to a quieter type of lunch as the home made pastas and sauces are so delicious that you would rather be stuffing your face with it than talk. Unless you take a smart move and be the one asking quick questions and then your lunch partner has to answer while you can eat! I like the idea that they have only 3 pasta choices everyday, but they often get repeated. You are likely to see your favorite on their board as well as try a new creation. I went with one of the Pesto Pastas. There was a good amount of sauce and every bite of my al dente delicious pasta was covered with it. I like the sprinkling of ground nuts for more texture too. They also give you some bread with excellent quality olive oil prior to bring your entree out. My coworker who lived in Italy for over a year, and has an Italian chef training said that the pastas here are as good as in Italy or better. We came back to the office very happy that day.

Amazing, affordable, quality pasta! My friend and I had a perciatelli (thick, spaghetti-like) pasta with sun-gold tomato and marjoram, and pappardelle bolognese. Pasta was cooked very well. Both dishes were very tasty, and bolognese had the stronger and saltier taste. The sun-gold tomato taste with the perciatelli was just so appropriate -- it made the meal feel less heavy, and you really couldn't get tired of it easily. For me, the bolognese sauce wasn't like the regular bolognese I've always had at other places, and I liked that. Relatively, bolognese felt dry because it wasn't the mushy or greasy lumps that you might have elsewhere. And more amazing, the price is just under $10 (tax included) for a plate of pasta. The only thing that wasn't so nice is how the place is jam-packed. I would love to give a five for their food, but it wasn't fun to stand in line while everyone would bump into everyone else, and the line is almost intruding the tables and the people who are dining; nor was it pleasant to excuse myself through a crowd in line to get water or to get to the door. Meanwhile, I wholly understand why the crowd. If I worked or lived around there Il Corvo would be one of my daily lunch stops. Perfect pasta and perfect price!

lunch food: i had the one with the bolognese sauce. maybe i dont know how to appreciate "real" italian pasta, but i dont get what the hype is about. by no means was it bad, it was good indeed, just not super amazing like i keep reading around here. for me, it was too al dente. maybe it was a fluke for my order. the sauce was great and i love it. ill have to come back and try the other ones. ***4/5 service: it's a weird italian place for me. its not exactly full service. you order at the front counter and they bring you the food, but you set up your own table. it's for the best. the line is always long and it gets in the way for everybody. the wait goes by pretty quick. the orders are small and not really a place for chit chat. you eat and you go. there was a line before the place even opens. ***3/5 value: one of the cheaper places for italian food, but it's also one of the smaller plates. maybe half the size of a typical pasta order at most restaurants. but i like that better so you can order 2 or 3 different kinds of pasta and experience it all. i was good for 1 order, but i probably couldve got 2 and still be ok. ***4/5

If I could, I would rate Il Corvo as 3 1/2 stars. We stopped by on a Friday right after they opened, and the place was already pretty full. It is a pretty small space, with a few separate tables and a larger communal one near the front (although with the limited seating, each table is pretty much a communal one). You place your order and then find a seat once you are done. After looking at the small menu on the wall, we ordered: Focaccia: pretty good, with nice olive oil for dipping. Kale salad: light and refreshing Lasagna bianco: good, although a little rich (porcini pasta sheets with roasted squash filling) Pappardelle alla Bolognese: pasta was really good, although I have to admit, I wish there was more pasta and less Bolognese. Overall, I can see why this place is so busy: nothing beats having fresh pasta. It would probably be challenging to find a seat during the heart of the lunch rush, so I would recommend coming before noon.

Foodie trip 2013! Walked here after checking in at Hotel 1000 to wet our palates, b/c my secret crush insisted she would die if she didn't get to eat here: PAStA di GiORNO! so the chef HAND makes all his own pastas, and only opens M-F 11-3, has all these heirloom tools to roll out his pastas, and you have order at the register, find your own seat, then bus your own dishes: SELF service all the way baby! spaghetini: with winter squash cream topped with walnuts -lightly sweet, salt from grated cheese, perfect fresh pasta chew, crunch, seasonal tagliatelle: alla Bolognese -perfect pasta chew, beef wine reduction, tomato tang, standard issue sauce. Verdict? Lover's quarrel! Me: 3* Crush: 4* Average: 3.5 stars but pressured into giving it 4 stars because of the sweat it goes into making fresh pastas...maybe a different day, another star, what can you do? It's all in the name of love right?

I've had pasta around the world. My favorite is always Italy and in US, there are very few place I like including the one in San Carlos California. And I've been to quite a few restaurants in Seattle, besides Shiro sushi, this is the only place that shocked me to the core. The pasta was done very well... al dente like those in Italy, I didn't even think it's do-able. We had Bucatini, rigatoni and Rotini. All done perfectly.

Had the Pasta Mista (Clams, calamari, Castelvetrano olives, preserved lemons and spicy tomato sauce, tossed with a melange of shell shaped pasta). It was good, but not great. The mixture of pastas made the texture and sauce just okay. Will go back and definitely recommend, but I have had much better pasta.

Only street parking outside this place. They are only open M-F 11am-3pm, so can be hard to get there. Menu changes every day, they usually have 3 different types of pasta and a few sides. Each pasta dish isn't too large. For larger eaters, it would probably take at least 2 dishes to fill you up. At $9 each dish for fresh flavorful pasta, it's still pretty solid. Each dish usually has a different type of pasta and a unique sauce so each dish is quite different in texture and taste. The pasta is soft and fresh cooked to a perfect al dente. The sauces they use are unique and have strong vibrant flavors. Only comment is only one of the dishes had meat, and only a small amount. Don't expect lots of meat, but do expect satisfying flavorful pasta.

I like the fact that this place is tucked away in a gelato store, close but away from the Pikes Place Market traffic. You kind of need to be "in the know" to come here. My parents and I shared all 3 of their specials. (We loved the Italian (speaking?) woman at the counter). I could have probably eaten 2 all by myself! Yup, consistent with the other reviews, the portions were small!! But, I agree I would much prefer to eat here, than some mediocre pasta place. Their sauces were simple, yet extremely flavorful. They had pastas that you usually don't see at your run of the mill Italian restaurants. My parents, who lived in Italy for several years, thought it was consistent with the wonderful pasta dishes that they had in Italy. It was pretty empty when we arrived at around 1120 a.m. The place filled up fast and it was a full house around noon. As I am typing this, I am trying to figure out when I am going there next!

Grabbed a table for a quick lunch. I had the Cuore di Tonno. -Cured tuna heart, shaved over bigoli, with pepperoncini, parsley topped with a local farm's egg yolk. Popped the yolk and let it ease into the pasta and Cuore di Tonne and savored every bite. Pasta done just right. The only think missing was a piece of bread to scoop up all the rest of the yolk and tuna heart. I always like to order menu items made with ingredients I can't get or haven't tried. There's a spot outside to eat when the weather's good! Just make sure to look for the Procopio Gelateria sign, their signs are on order! I'll be back.

Tried a pasta dish here the other day. Gotta give him 4 stars for effort and creativity. Pasta was el dente and simply flavored so you could take note of the cheese and oil. I'll update review after another sampling. Also great because the pasta always changes from day to day.

The concept of daily fresh home made pasta prompted my visit to ll Corvo. I did enjoy the casual setup for a fast lunch. There are Italian related travel and food hardcover books on the shelf looks very "appetizing". However, today's cavatelli was under cooked. I am sure if that extra minute was given, it would be fine. I was attracted to the squash "coming from my friend's garden", the owner said. Unfortunately, it was not particularly stunning either. My friend's angel hair with tuna heart sauce ( Yes, Tuna's heart, an internal organ) wasn't very good either and wasn't as spicy as he claimed.

Some co-workers have been sharing the news about Il Corvo and I am almost sorry because it's a little secret I would love to keep all to myself. The pasta is made fresh daily and is seriously, as good as it gets. Forget what people way about portions - it's lunch, it's pasta, and it's filling but not so much that you are going to sleep at your desk all afternoon. You can subscribe to their blog and get the daily specials as the menu changes depending on the latest fresh ingredients available upstairs at Pike's Place Market. I tried two dishes and both were equally fabulous with al dente pasta and subtle tastes that just made you want more immediately. The owner/chef is passionate about what he does for a living and it clearly shows. you won't be disappointed at Il Corvo.

cute concept & oh what i so love about Seattle but have you tasted the pasta at Spinasse yet? i would give this place 3.5 stars - we did get here at 1.30 & only the Cavetelli was left but i was expecting 'more' thanks to all the hype. maybe will try it one more time & get in a bit earlier so there are more options...

Great small shop making homemade pasta with a changing menu daily. Love this place. The only thing I had that I didn't like was a pasta with cured tuna. But my dislike wasn't about the quality of the dish, I just think I don't like cured tuna. Go. Bring cash. But go.

One of our main objectives on our recent Montana to Seattle trip was a visit to Il Corvo. After Mike prepared my pasta, using some new New Mexico chilis he got on a recent trip the southwest, we had short chat. I thank him for his wonderful pasta. I felt guilty for wanting to eat there for a week, so only ate there twice. This a warm feeling place, thanks to Mike. Very well prepared fresh food tends to fully satisfy me. If you want more food, buy another plate. This place rocks.

This place really IS as perfect as everyone says. It's simple and fabulous. Affordable fantastic quality. My main advice: stick to the etiquette posted on the door (mainly, don't grab a table until you have your food), and, GO EARLY. The line at noon is epic. Arriving at 11:15 or 11:30 is ideal.

This place is a gem of a lunch spot in Pioneer Square. It's slightly tucked away since it's on a steep James St section between 2nd and 3rd, but it's worth tracking down. If you've ever been to Hole in the Wall BBQ for lunch, you have definitely seen Il Corvo Pasta. They serve only a handful of different simple pasta dishes each day, but you will never be disappointed. If you are looking for a deliciously simple, homemade bowl of pasta for under $10, this is a great place. It will inevitably be crowded, but seating is open there and by the time you get to the front of the line something will be open for you.

A surprise find as I was strolling downtown on a rainy afternoon. Small place. Share a seat with a stranger ( i had an amazing conversation with another customer talking about food) and enjoy amazing fresh pasta dishes perfectly al dente and appropriately sauced with simple yet refined flavors. yes simple and refined. I don't get it, but it was amazing. The staff was super friendly and service was fast. They need to be with the line that was out the door. However, people seemed to be able to find seats without a problem and I didn't feel rushed. I was alone so I just got a pasta dish with the bolognese sauce and a sparkly. Open at lunch time only. Better than any other 4 star italian joint for sure.

Ohhhh my goodness, Il Corvo is my favorite Italian place in all of Seattle. It's only open for lunch, which is a bummer, but I'll take it whenever I can get it. The pasta is DELICIOUS. It's always perfectly cooked, and there's nothing like fresh pasta. I've loved everything I've tried, and so has every other person I've brought to eat there. The menu changes daily (though they always have a set of back-up sauces in case you don't like the daily options), and there's almost always at least one fully vegetarian option (watch out for the anchovies in some of their sauces). If you don't go early, there can be a bit of a line, but don't worry--they turn out the dishes really quickly, and the tables will turn over faster than you might expect. Even with a line to the door, you might be done eating within 30-45 minutes or so. I love love love love love Il Corvo. Go and try it! It's soooo good!

This place has REALLY good Italian, in case you couldn't tell by the numerous reviews. Go early, still wait in line, and for good reason. Plan on spending $10-15 for lunch. It's DELICIOUS. Having lived in Rome for sometime, this would fit in perfectly. Fresh pasta, on the spot sauces, you really, really shouldn't complain! Give it a shot, plan to hang out in line for a little bit, it's worth it! Thanks for listening!

Excellent, fresh pasta which was well prepared and very affordable. Community seating and self bussing which helps keep the cost down:)!!!

This place is fun and fast and casual. Just look at those photos on yelp! Each is promised to be yummy! And their menu changes daily! As a pasta enthusiast I fall in love with here from the moment I saw their online menu. Not to mention the smell after I stepped in. And.... $9 plus tax for pasta that's even better than most of the $$$$ Italian restaurants?!

Finally came here yesterday and after all of the great things I have heard I was not disappointed. The pasta is fresh, delicious and cooked to al dente perfection. The place gets busy early, we arrived around 11:20 and had only 3 parties in front of us but by the time we ordered and sat down there was a line to the door. The 3 pasta dishes that change daily are posted on their website which is helpful and they average in price around $9 each, a fair price for the amount of pasta on the plate. Other reviewers commented on rude service, we did not experience this during our visit. Staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Get here early and devour some of the best pasta you'll find in Seattle!

I'd heard about this place, but never had a time to go. Went there for a late lunch on a beautiful autumn sunny day. What a place. The pasta was terrific. Perfectly prepared. I've forgotten the exact name of the noodles, but a paparadelli like dish with wonderful sauce. The appetizer plate was delightful too. This is the place to come for incredible fresh pasta and that's the way it works. I'll be back. The prices are incredibly low ($9 for a wonderful plate). The portions are decent. What's not to like???

This is a 3.5 stars review. Let me start by saying that I grew up in a city with a huge population of Italian immigrants so I am used to eating great authentic Italian food. I was sooo dying to try Il corvo after reading all the reviews but was quite disappointed after my first experience. We got there at 11:20am and there was already a small line inside. Next to us was a couple just finishing their meal. We asked how their cannelloni was and the wife replied: "it was...very cheesy". Not exactly the answer we were expecting to hear. So we decided to order the other 2 choices of pasta on the menu and an appetizer. We had: - chicken liver mousse: very good - tagliatelle alla bolognese: the pasta was all stuck together and the sauce was extremely dry - Spaguettini with anchovies and olives: very bland We got the food by 11:40am and the line was already out the door. After this first experience I kept thinking that either we were very unlucky to go on a day that all 3 options were bad or that the reviews are based on the fact that the pasta is pretty affordable ($9). I doubt that if it cost double people would be giving the same amazing reviews.

The pasta servings are smaller than your typical "American" portion, but the pasta is fresh and cooked when you order. Their website lists the specials of the day, and some of them are very interesting, like squid ink. The line goes out the door at lunch time. I would say there's a 20 minute wait from the time you start to line up to the time you get your food when this happens. That being said, the wait is worth it. You won't get better pasta for the price in downtown. There is not much seating, considering the popularity of this restaurant. I've usually found that seating opens up by the time you wait for your food.

The line is long around noon, sometimes down the block! It goes quickly though and is so worth it. Go early around 11 before they start to sell out of items.

If the pasta had been cooked thoroughly, it would be a legitimate "it" place. It has the trendy combo of cranky hipster servers, a small menu, and a tiny restaurant ambiance however, the food is too disappointing for me to ever give it a second chance. - Pasta was undercooked, yet considered to be "perfect al dente". -Sauces were dry and uneventful. -Kid size portions.

Why do I have to endure phalanxes of street zombies, a long wait and interior noise like a great turbine to eat good pasta? Huh? Why do I have to bus my own table? I do not want to stare at hungry people lining up right alongside to my table for the entire duration of my meal. Still, 5 stars for the food, against all odds. Portions too large though.

So crazy delicious!! Maybe the best pasta I have ever had- up there with the pasta I had in Rome. Stand in line. Order one if the three super delicious pasta options. Sit down. (There are lots of other solo diners so you won't feel awkward). Eat the amazing pasta! Also everyone that works there was so friendly making it all a wonderful experience. I will defiantly be back next time I am in Seattle!!!

I really can't say enough about this place! I am pleased they have a new space with more seating. Get there early on a Monday for your best bet at a quick and crowd free dining experience. I'm in love with their focaccia and spicy chickpea salad. Did you know they also do to go orders, for the poor sap that couldn't leave the office to join you for pasta bliss?

Holy shit balls! This place is amazing! The line was only 6-7 people deep, and we landed a table right away. Thankfully, folks dine and dash (it's good, folks pay first) here. The simple menu was a godsend, cuz I'm a very very greedy orderer. We got the mortadella plate, and the olives. Then all three pastas of the day. It's all so cheap so why the hell not? Who cares that we are just two moderately sized girls? Well, not so good because there is little table space and there was not enough time to eat the first course, but it was all a blessing in disguise because we were about to feed like we were about to hibernate for the winter. I am obviously a novice here and thought, let's course it out. I'm a fool and a tool! Just come and get all the pasta your heart desires. It is all so damn good! - spag with salsa verde - not a full pesto, with bead crumb action and lemon zest. I love carb on carb action. - lasagna bolognese - Perfect balance of noodle, bechamel, meat sauce. I could've cried it was like truly losing my lasagna virginity for the first time - pappardelle with mushroom cream sauce. Or was it tagliatelle? well, it could've been on cardboard and it would've been yummy. I dream about my next visit. So that I can again eat 3 bowls of pasta at once.

PROS: -absolutely delicious -about 3-4 pastas/sauces to choose from -garlic bread and shortbread cookies are awesome (don't wait to get the cookies after your meal...they will run out) -you can purchase packaged pasta to take home -friendly service -quick turnaround -very affordable (pastas are about $9 an order) CONS: -menu changes daily so sometimes the one thing you're craving won't be served the day you're there (unless you live in the area and can go whenever) -line gets really long 5-10 minutes after they open (at 11 AM) -only open for weekday lunch -small space so gets crowded

Get here early! The lunch room rush is real and the line goes outside because space is tight. The menu is limited to a few entries. The pasta is good, but not enough to keep me coming back due to the prices and heavy crowds. A must try place.

OMG. The smoked duck rigatoni was to die for. Prices are so reasonable you're amazed they can do it. If you're looking for amazing handmade pasta and don' t care about white table cloths and silk napkins, this is the place.

Il Corvo is a cool lunch spot, serving up truly great pasta to the hustling, bustling Seattle business crowd. Despite some very clear fire hazards and a general sense of feeling obligated to eat, have a quick convo and move on, I still really enjoyed my meal here. I ate the lumache (shell pasta) with meat sauce, and it was rustic, meaty and aromatic. I really loved it. I also sampled my girlfriend's spicy pasta (the name escapes me...) and it too was just perfect. Others have said it as well... you can taste the quality of the food you're eating here. The lady manning the cash register was personable and helpful when I asked her for some tips on finding a seat for the the gal and I. During the lunch crush, the line of people ordering splits the restaurant in half, making it stuffy and antsy inside. If you want to get yourself some more water, you'll have to excuse yourself past a dozen of snooty Seattle business types just to get to the dispenser. Moreover, you'll have to get over the five different parties of people eyeing you for your seat and just enjoy your meal at the pace you wish. All of these things were enough to affect my experience here, so I can't give Il Corvo five stars. But damn, that was some good pasta.

Yummy, so yummy. Stood in a line that went out the door for awhile but they seem to have the line timed out so by the time you order & get food, there is a place for you to sit. My husband & I shared a paprika manicotti, an order of focaccia & olives & left feeling fully satisfied but not overly full. Anytime both of us can eat for under $20 total is good in my book. Oh, and the paprika pasta is one of those things I circle back to every few weeks & wish I could have again. Hope it's on the menu when we go back.

Have eaten here many times and there's always something new. They serve several dishes each day and always have a vegetarian option. My all time favorite is their lasagna, but everything I've had there is good. Try their salads, focaccia, and amazing cookies for dessert, too. Everything is delicious. Try going after the initial lunch rush so you don't have to wait as long - 1:30 is usually better than noon.

I came here with some co-workers and we managed to get our orders in promptly and sit down right before the lunchtime rush. Up until this point, everything was fine. It tends to get very crowded, so be prepared for limited personal space, even if you're sitting down. I wouldn't be surprised if you get bumped accidentally by the hordes of people waiting in line, and good luck if you're trying to get more water and you're sitting by the door. You're going to have to wade through a sea of people to get it. The food was good, but as almost everyone has already mentioned, the portions are small. What really turned me off about this place was how rude our server was. When our orders came out, there was one dish that no one in our group ordered. When we told our server this, he just looked around the table and said, "Well, someone ordered it, so I'm just going to leave it here and have you guys figure it out." Really? That's just ridiculous. When our bill came, low and behold, that dish he was so sure one of us ordered and graciously abandoned at our table wasn't even listed. If you do still feel the urge to stop by, don't neglect to get your utensils before you're seated, especially if it's super crowded and busy.

Il Corvo is a small pasta restaurant with a small rotating menu to match, and it is a downright pleasant spot for a leisurely lunch. I came around one o'clock on a Friday with Michael K. and Matt R., and we spent a good couple hours eating and chatting with no pressing need to leave. The space was sunny and charming, with simple, homey decor and two long rows of tables spanning the whole restaurant. Il Corvo apparently draws a crowd, but we had no problem getting seated, and by the time we left, the lunch rush was long over. We ordered off a chalkboard menu at a register, and service was friendly and prompt. Mike and I shared a half liter of the house red wine, which came out of a tap. It was tasty, and it went well with our meal. The food was excellent. Mike and I shared the prosciutto and pickled celery to start, and everything about it was perfect. The prosciutto was soft and easy to tear, salty and fresh with a drizzle of good olive oil. The rinds of pickled celery added crunch and brightness. The pastas are Il Corvo's main draw, and these were wonderful as well. There were only three on the menu, with some choice in sauce, and we got two - the spaghettini and the conchiglini. The spaghettini came with carbonara, mortadella, eggs, and parmesan. The noodles were cooked al dente with just enough thickness, and I liked the little chunks of meat with the carbonara sauce, which was decidedly light. The conchiglini was even better, though I am fairly certain we got fusilli instead of the advertised tiny shells. No matter - the pasta was great, mixed with castelvetrano olives, capers, chilis, tomato sauce, and a nice coating of parmesan. It was a flavorful dish. I especially liked the juicy light green olives. The pastas cost $9 each, and the prosciutto $6. At a more formal restaurant, these exact dishes would fetch double and no one would find that price point inappropriate. I understand that Il Corvo is quite popular for lunch - with the reasonable prices, the soothing atmosphere, and the promise of different great pastas every day, I would be damn surprised to hear otherwise.

ok i need to break this down 5 STARS for taste and quality of food!!-great fresh pasta, menu changes daily...one downside is that they can sell out, also plates are not very big so depends how much you eat 2 STARS for LOCATION & SEATING-very small hole in the wall restaurant...gets very crowded, very quickly because they are only open for lunch M-F...and the rules of the place are you have to order before you sit down! SOOOOO you may not get a seat, and if you get a seat you feel RUSHED to eat because you know that everyone in line is waiting for you to hurry the hell up and shove your food down your throat as fast as you can so they can grab your seat! kind of a crazy cycle when I am driving 20 min to downtown & paying for street parking just to eat here....I would love to know that I can enjoy my food by being guaranteed a seat and not being rushed...but that is not a guarantee! I was in 3 days ago and decided to take it TO-GO since it was way to crowded ...well it still took about 10-15 min to get the food to-go and during that time I waited outside on the sidewalk due to the crowd inside...and I saw/heard at least 30 ppl walk by and leave due to the crowd/long line. So wish they would have another location! this is pretty much only convenient if you live/work downtown. all in all i recommend trying to food if you have the time and patience

Great lunch spot, it is a small space so be prepared to get close. Everyone followed the rules of the road and there was a spot for everyone dining in. Fresh and delicious food, if you are in the area put this in your rotation.

Busy pasta joint with daily specials. The website updates the type of pasta o' the day which is very convenient. It is a smallish crowded space where you are expected to get your own water, napkin, silverware etc. and bus your dishes at the end of the meal. Beware that for the price, the portions are small. Not a great value but the flavors are good and the pasta is well made. I have been three times now, over the past six months(because I work 2 blocks away), and feel like the novelty has worn off. It is not a comfortable dining experience worth the price paid, especially for lunch.

  • Justin S.

By a large margin the best pasta I have had in memory. They do 3 or 4 different dishes a day. Small interior so don't expect to sit together if you have a large group. The etiquette is written on the wall so please follow it. Order first then grab a seat. There is no saving seats while you are waiting in line. I know some of you can't handle following the rules but it messes up the flow for the rest of us.

  • Lindsey K.

Pastas are made al dente and you are offered three choices off of their menu. You can also switch up the pasta sauces with the noodles to create your own. The reason why I'm giving this place three stars is because I have never gone without having to wait in line and the seating is very limited. The pasta is not that great that I would go out of my way to wait in line for it but if in the area, I guess I might.

We were originally going to go to Salumi for lunch yesterday, but it was closed, so stopped in at Il Corvo for a surprise lunch ! It was delicious, and they make their pasta fresh every day. Simple and fresh. Fragrant and classic. I tried the Fusilli, with a celery-based pesto with notes of almond, basil, mint, and pine nuts. What an interesting idea to use celery ! The pesto was fresh and light, and the celery, which is normally a pretty understated flavor, was surprisingly strong. My boyfriend got the Lumache, french for "snail" for its snail-like shape to hold more hearty sauces. It was dressed with a delicious beef and pork bolognese, simple and delicious. Fresh pasta makes such a difference. The ambiance of the restaurant is quiet and quaint, tucked away on Pioneer Square. It's small enough where a group of six is probably the maximum size you can bring in comfortably. But each experience, I am sure, it will not disappoint.

I think my al dente was too dente. Like kinda not fully cooked. The sauce was good though which makes me think this was an outlier since boiling pasta isn't the hardest thing in the world and this place has quite the reputation.

i can't really say anything new that other reviewers have not already said. the people are very friendly and knowledgable, the food is great. i will just add that it is so delicious in here that i (who should really not be consuming gluten) can barely restrict myself to twice a month here. i could go every single day if gluten didn't cause my skin to itch everywhere. it's probably a good thing, personally for me, that they are only open for lunch.

Delicious and casual lunch spot. The menu is short and sweet and changes everyday. With 4 main dishes, a handful of appetizers, and wine you could try everything on the menu with 4 or more people...and you would not regret it! - Handmade pasta - Handmade cured meat - Open for lunch, and crowded from noon to 1:30pm - Go later to avoid the crowds, but risk them being sold out of some of the mains

I am a HUGE sucker for pasta, let alone fresh, handmade pasta! This place is legit. Beware that the hours are only for lunch and weekdays! They have a very simple menu, a handful of pastas and sauces. Get any of them!! The pasta was so good, nice and al dente, just like I had in Italy. It is a little pricey for the portion, but come on its handmade/fresh pasta, what do you expect? The focaccia bread was delish and I so happen to order the last serving at like 12:30, so get there early before they start running out of things on the menu.

I've been at Il Corvo for lunch the past two days and have to say the pasta is top-notch. After striking out the first two times (showed up too late last Thursday; closed Monday), I have to say that it was well worth the wait. Yesterday, I had the cavatelli del pescatore. The broth was a saffron, tomato base and had the typical seafood/clam-rich taste that you'd expect from a pescatore/a or vongole in rosso. Delicious! Today, I enjoyed the maccheroni with braised pork sugo, another home run. The maccheroni quite a different texture than what you'd expect: that, along with the tender pork, and flavourful sauce blew me away. Both days, I ordered a side of bread/oil and salame. My only complaint about this establishment is that the portions are rather small (yes, I know quality over quantity, but I just want more) so I'd recommend ordering bread/oil to help fill you up and (for mopping) to ensure that none of the delicious sauce goes to waste. As for the salame, you can probably do without it... Service was great both days! I got there early and there was ample seating; however, it was a bit crowded today, but I waited for and sniped patio seating outside. As others have stated, it's inside a gelato shop where there is not much seating so it may help to get there early and beat the rush.

delicious pasta.. small portions.. but a great price.. their sauces are bursting with flavor.. as for the location.. it is a bit out the way for me... but i'll be back if i'm in the area.. especially if there's a long ass line at salumi

Went in today for lunch. Food was spectacular: I had the tagliatelle alla bolognese, and have never had anything like it. The double edged sword that comes into play with delicious food is that when the portions are consumed in *literally* five bites, it leaves the person wanting more. But heck, with fresh handmade pasta that was obviously prepared with much love and care, I can understand why the establishment chooses the serving sizes they do. What I can't understand was at the checkout process: Il Corvo uses one of those iPad-as-Point-of-Sale systems, in which the card is swiped, the transaction is processed, and your signature is all given on a swivel-mounted and cased iPad - pretty cool stuff. What's not cool is the woman managing the payments was hovering over the system and explaining and pointing out where to tip and where to sign my name. It's an intuitive system that was designed with a quick UI experience in mind. I know what the button that says "15%" means, just as much as when I see the empty white rectangle that says "Signature", I'm supposed to draw my pretty little name there. It's a little uncomfortable when the restaurateurs look at what I'm clicking when choosing how much gratuity to give. It's not that I don't want to tip, it's just that I don't want to feel like I'm doing so under duress. As this was my first time coming here, I don't know how long they've had their iPad PoS -- perhaps it is new, or others have had significant trouble with simple User Design, but I really can't fathom how hard it can be. For the same reason that your server doesn't hang around your table when you are writing down the tip on one of those "old fashioned" payment receipts (I know, it's hard to catch the sarcasm there, pardon me), don't look at the iPad screen when I'm completing the transaction. I will be back, simply because there's no comparison for such deliciousness, and I'm a sucker for bucatini (hollow noodle spaghetti) and can't wait for that to come in, but hopefully by then the restaurateurs will have learned to curb their enthusiasm.

My one of two places I go to for pasta. Do not expect ordinary pasta dishes. Every day the menu changes and there are usually 4 main dishes to choose from. It's best to get two other people to join you, so you can try all the dishes. You will be surprised and satisfied that all the dishes are good and very different.

Wow! super super yummy. just the right amount, too. I ordered the bolognese with wine to go with. Although there is a line, it does move down quickly. You order then find a seat and bus your own table. Super fresh and yummy pasta. Will definitely be coming back again!

Cute, small, delicious, authentic, fast, and a great find! I have frequented this new pasta restaurant only a few times, and every time I wish I could eat for a few hours and order all three pasta's then wait till they add in another pasta dish and order that. I just wanted to be pasta'd out!!! :) I literally could eat their gnocchi all day everyday, or their spicy sausage spaghetti. Yummy!!!!!! Their portions seem small when you are starving, and the smell of garlic is roaming around your salivating mouth but don't fret friends. just finish the bowl with a cup of espresso or wine and it'll be perfect portions. Honestly, I kept wanting to order all three bowls to see which one I wanted and was very convinced that I could finish all three hahahah warning : if you go too late, they might run out and you'll be out of luck. Be sure to be courteous of the new people dining because this is not a sit down all day bistro, it's a eat, enjoy and leave type of place. :)

Oh, man, I'm so glad that a friend of a friend happened to mention Il Corvo. This little gem is only open during the week, during "lunch". I assume this means that they open at 11 and stay open until they run out or things slow down? My BF and I decided to get there a bit early, and I'm glad we did. A line started forming at about 10:50, and there were about 5 couples ahead of us already at that time. Il Corvo is not a big place, but getting there early ensured that we were able to snag a 2-top table, although I would not have minded sitting at the shared counter. Apparently, the offerings of the day depend on what they picked up at the market, which is perfect if you ask me. I had the pasta misti (with toasted almonds, castelvetrano olives and pesto), and my BF had the Pasta E Fagioli (Mallorreddus, Chickpeas, Braised Pork and Beef, Kale, Tomato and Love) (descriptions from the Il Corvo website). We also split a kale salad and a plate of prosciutto with pickled celery. OH. EM. GEE. is all I can say. Both pastas were absolutely amazing, as were the salad and meat tray. My meal came with several different varieties of pasta, which is huge for me because I am all about texture in my foods. My BF's pasta was all one kind, they sort of looked like plump grubs which made them even more fun to eat :) The plates weren't giant, but they were more than enough for us both to leave completely satisfied. The prices weren't too terrible, either, considering the quality of the meal as well as the fresh and local sourcing. Oh, and they make their own pasta, too! In the end, it's probably good that I work nowhere near here, because I would come here all the time. ALL THE TIME. Seriously, go to Il Corvo.

Ever read about a place everywhere (Stranger/Seattle Mag/Weekly) and figure it can't POSSIBLY be that good and enter with incredible expectations and leave disappointed? Il Corvo is not that place. Impossibly high expectations exceeded. Wow, Bolognese is perfect. Not the kind of thing thrown together with some ground beef and tomatoes, it's the real deal. I had the squid ink capellini with slasa verde and olives. Simple, under 7 ingredients, and just delicious. It's pasta like your grandma would make if your grandma owned a neighborhood trattoria in Rome.

Visited Il Corvo for the first time this afternoon during my lunch break. My only issue was that I could have eaten ten more plates of their pasta. It was incredible. The portions are small, but it's also homemade pasta, which is much more filling than the fraudulent boxed Barilla crap most people are used to eating. The service was very friendly and recommended the perfect sauce pairing for me since I cannot eat spicy food. The space is very small, so plan ahead if you are with a bunch of people. I will definitely be back.

Some of the best pasta I've had in a very long time. Comparative to Italy. However...if you are hungry, you may try somewhere else, or have in addition to Il Corvo. I'm by no means a big eater, but the portion size is about an appetizer for me. Quality is fantastic, quantity is not. I ended up getting a sandwich after my pasta dish elsewhere to compensate. It's a really small place, and can get quite cold when people are constantly in and out of the door. Would be better during summer or fall. Go if you want the best handmade pasta in town. Don't go if you are really hungry, or order 2. At $9 a pop, it can be a little much, but I respect how difficult and time consuming homemade pasta is.

    (3)
  • Jessica B.

God it's so crowded there at lunchtime!!!!! BUT SO GOOD!!! As other reviewers say, portions are small and AMAZINGLY delicious! I was daydreaming about the homemade pasta for days after eating there. Next time I go I'll definitely get my own entree, and split another one with my dining companions. They do offer sides (bread and olive oil, olives, etc). Cash only. Open for lunch only, 3 options each day.

Came in here with a group. The restaurant is pretty yuppie, especially for Pioneer Square, so I hope that's your scene. We all got different pasta dishes and they were all incredibly well done. The antipasto was delicious also. All in all, definitely worth a try, but as many have stated, the portions are rather small so don't bring your entire appetite.

This lunch only pasta heaven has a small menu of ever changing dishes and often has a line to the door. For first timers you go in order, pay, Then sit, anywhere you can find a seat. Definitely not for large groups. Prices for the perfect pasta are very reasonable so go ahead and add the foccacia bread, it's homemade. The tables clear pretty quickly so do not despair if it looks like there is no place to sit. They also do take out.

  • Taggart H.

I'll go ahead and note that the pasta is fantastic. I also enjoyed the liberal use of the spicy pickled goathorn peppers with pancetta. I suspect that's a rotating menu item though, so don't rush there for that and then blame me if it's not there. By the by, I note a number of the reviews note the small portion sizes. We can only conclude that Yelp reviewers are by and large GREAT BIG FAT PEOPLE AND ALL DIABETICS AND MY GOD PEOPLE IT'S LUNCH IF YOU NEED MORE PASTA THAN THIS THEN FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE GO TO THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY AND GET ALL THE FETTUCINE ALFREDO YOU WANT AND THEN GET CHEESECAKE AND THEN STUMBLE TO THE CURB TO SPEAR YOURSELF WITH AN INSULIN NEEDLE. Note: I'm not sure if the type 2 diabetics on this page use insulin shots or not my knowledge of the disorder is mostly gleaned from late '70's episodes of Emergency or CHiPs or whatever. Probably not wholly state of the art. Seriously though, fatties, there's plenty of pasta. I like red wine and pasta for lunch. Please to enjoy.

I have been here 3 or 4 times in the last couple of weeks and it is amazing. Yes, of course there are dishes that are more delicious than others. However, the fresh ingredients, portion size, and rotating menu keep me coming back for more. The restaurant is limited in seating so watch out going at lunch peak times. I most recently went around 1pm and waited about 20 min to order, 10 min for food. Check their website for the lineup of the day before you go. I will definitely go back although not at peak lunch time.

Oh my, these guys understand texture, and that's what makes this pasta worth chewing. The sauces are pretty good, too, but it's the pasta that made me fall in love. I swear they could put brake fluid on their pasta and it would still be wonderful. The Corona bean salad is also pretty amazing.

Sometimes, less is more and sometimes, silence is indicative of an incredible meal. The concept is pretty simple -one guy, producing 3 fresh pasta dishes daily, in the back of a gelateria. But the result is amazing and I was definitely wowed by my first trip to Il Corvo. There are 3 dishes daily, and if you go with another person, it's definitely worth ordering all three! I ordered the sage pappardelle with housemade pheasant sausage, and it was very flavorful. The subtle sage went well with the slight gaminess of the pheasant, and I loved the rich reduction instead of a sauce. The strozzapreti with roman tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella was outstanding and the x-factor was the handcut pasta with amazing texture. Finally, maccheroni, with mushrooms, madeira and mascarpone was the perfect fall dish. It's definitely with signing up for the blog - you see what the daily specials are and the pictures are very tempting. Will definitely be back, but remember, bring cash, and they are open weekdays only from 11-3.

Very likely the best pasta in all of Seattle. This place was tricky to find, but that was also part of the allure for me. Once there, we ordered both the tagliatelle and the cavatelli. While the former was delicious and surprisingly light for a pasta in its own right, the latter featured braised pork and a wine sauce that were unbelievable. Moving forward, I could never visit this place too often.

The place is bustling (I went on a Tuesday) but it seems like most people eat and go so spots open up while you're waiting in line to order. Everyone I saw there was classy folk and the staff were all dapper and friendly. The food? SO good. Some of the best pasta I have ever had. I was somewhat distracted the whole time I was eating because I just couldn't stop thinking about how amazing the food was. I hope they open up more locations soon...maybe one in Capitol Hill!

Perfect lunch spot! He's got a sweet niche: limited menu of three fresh pastas changed daily, lunch only. Great little space, lovely house red. Cozy ambiance. Will come back when I'm in town. The dishes are like mamma makes!

I finally tried out this place and I'm glad I did. I walked here after checking out an exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum. There was a line, but it goes pretty quickly. The place was already packed and I was worried about getting a seat, but it was only me and, due to the size of the place, people share tables. I got one of the pasta dishes with pesto and it was really delicious! It was a perfect size for lunch, but I could have eaten another 1/3 cup with no problem. Also, this is the first place in the Seattle that I felt the staff were sincerely nice and genuine. The guy who took my order was super friendly and the other guys who ran the food out to the table were awesome. Definitely coming back to try out the spicy chickpea salad and other dishes.

Top quality Italian cuisine (different every day) served in a fast-food downtown lunch fashion. If you go alone, plan to share a table, as it's a tiny place! I had ricotta-kale manicotti in fresh-rolled pasta with tomato sauce. Small portions, but oh-so-good.

  • Henry S.

The pasta dishes at this joint is ridiculously amazing. Mike really knows how to make fantastic pasta. I've had the cavatelli and pappardelle, both were amazing. The texture is extraordinary- chewy and firm, just how i like them to be. The menu rotates daily depending on the season. Check the blog before you go to see what's on their menu today and if they're open. Note: cash or check only.

Oh it was delicious. I had a long pasta with braised garlic sauce and a cheese ravioli with tomato sauce. And the sauces were delicious. But all I was thinking was that the sauces just flavored the WONDERFUL pasta. Crowded, very crowded, but definitely worth the wait.

New location in Pioneer Square - a stone's throw from Tat's. (Congrats on the new place Mike!). Some people balk at the price per plate. If you want lots of food for a cheap price go to the County Kitchen Buffet. When you need a pasta fix - I mean a REAL pasta fix - then come here. Blackboard specials - about 3 main choices - that change out pretty much daily. This place crowds out fast - so be patient and share your table. Mike Easton is an artist - and his medium is pasta and the toppings/fillings that accompany them. His Tagliatelle Bolognese and squash/pumpkin pastas are to die for. Go. Get a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine - celebrate good honest food.

Some of the best pasta I've had in a long time. Daily menu made fresh with ingredients straight from pike place market. Get there early! It starts filling up quick after 11am.

Four stars, because the only place I've had tastier pasta is Italy. They lost the last star because their portion size would be more appropriate for a kids meal than the entree I was expecting to eat.

  • Weifei Z.

Hate being the dissenter, but I left the place wondering "why all these 5 stars?" I got the maniche with squid and saw literally four pieces of squid. I think the portion size is OK for lunch, but even so, I can't get over four pieces of squid. I also didn't enjoy my pasta or the sauce that much. May give it another try, but overall, rather disappointed.

My wife and I decided to visit today because we happened to be in Seattle around lunch time and I have heard rave reviews. Surprised to see how small the place is, but I liked the vibe. My 2 year old daughter was not too thrilled with how loud it was, though... Anyway, we ordered tagliatelle alla Bolognese and conchiglie Mediterraneo, plus the bean salad. I must say that this dining experience opened my eye (taste bud?) to what "al dente" truly meant! The conchiglie was delicious and refreshing (loved the lemon flavor). The Bolognese was a bit salty (but tasty) - the bean salad was a little heavy on salt as well. Over all, it was a happy time and we would definitely visit again. The pasta I have enjoyed here would definitely be the standard by which all other pasta dishes I will have elsewhere is going to be judged.

  • Jen O.

You get a choice of three hand-made pastas that change from day to day. A lot of the ingredients are in-seAson, locally sourced. The pasta was toothsome with a delicious sauce where all of the elements were balanced perfectly. I was thoroughly satisfied by the food and the brief time it took to come out to my table. My only gripe is that the place is small so at lunch rush, it's pretty hectic. Go on the fringes of the operational hours for a better chance to get a table. Better yet, get it to go. This is now my favorite place to get a pasta dish in the region.

  • Robert C.

Was here in Feb for lunch. The waiter from Art of Table recommended it to us for lunch. Very simple and very good. In fact, the simplicity makes it a true gem. No gimmicks just freshly made great pasta. The place is small and somewhat crowded, you may share a table with someone you don't know but it's ok. My only complaint would be they ran out of one of the pastas that I really wanted to try. There's no need to describe the food because what ever you get will be delicious. This place is a must.

    (5)
  • Laurie W.

When I come here I feel like I've stepped into a trattoria in the middle of Italy at lunchtime. The shared tables, the unbelievably fresh, creative, perfect pastas and the friendly service (you're a regular after two visits!) make it a delightful lunch respite from a work day. During the warm months they make this marvelous bean salad with such a bright, floral, green melange of flavors - I fantasize about it!! Have a glass of wine with your lunch - the food will help it metabolize and you'll still be able to work when you return to the office.

Incredible pasta! Very busy, but for good reason. I had their 'mafalda' - a ribbon pasta with pesto - it was delicious and the perfect amount for lunch. Looking forward to trying more!

    (5)
  • Xiaotian H.

good taste. the only problem is the limited choice of the menu. BTW, jus one dish may not be enough for a lot of people. It can get very crowded as it is a small place. Two people go to eat there may be a better choice.

    (4)
  • D M.

So this charming, crowded place has fantastic pasta but is let down with a huge flaw. The two meals I've had there started as well crafted lasagna-type pasta dishes but it seems to be pre made then served and heated with a microwave. The heating prep gives the pasta a leftover soggy texture. I can only assume this is from a microwave, bummer.

  • Trevor P.

Came here for lunch while visiting from out of town. Delicious! The staff was very friendly and the pasta couldn't have been any better. Creative, savory, and fresh. And at $9/plate, it seemed like a steal. It's a small space so I could see it getting packed around lunchtime, but the communal seating made it easy to snag two chairs around 1pm. One of the best meals I had in Seattle.

Got to try it when I can! Il Corvo is a recently opened Italian pasta spot that shares space with Procopio Gelateria. The specialty here are the freshly made pasta offerings. Given that they are only open weekday lunch hours, this is a bit like Salumi in that unless you work in Downtown Seattle or are touristing in town, you are missing out on the opportunity to try this place for yourself. It is a humble space that is located on the Pike Street Hill Climb up to the Market from Alaskan Way and the Waterfront. As a point of reference, it is located one staircase down from Kasala and a couple up (or is it one?) from El Puerco Lloron if that helps. There is some outdoor seating here, though it has a bit of an obstructed view. Still nice eating al fresco style when the sun is out. Menu is simple. Maybe 3 or 4 pasta choices to choose from for $9 each after tax. The nice thing about the offerings are that they do change which keeps things spicy. Out of the available selections for the day, I went with the one which was the most unfamiliar to me which was the malloreddus with sage and parmesan bechamelle. Malloreddus is Sardinian in origin and translates into English as teardrop pasta. As a few of the other reviews mentioned, the portion size is quite small. Maybe a dollar or a dollar and a half too high for what you get. Still I think the pricing and somewhat hard to find location keeps this place from becoming a madhouse lunch spot like Salumi is. The malloreddus was good. Fresh pasta is always the superior choice. I like the sage and parmesan combo here. Though a bit like eating mac and cheese. And given that Beecher's is just up the street, I think it was a bit too similar tasting. Though there are differences like the pasta used and that the pasta at Il Corvo is made to order. I think the pasta at Il Corvo is worth a try due to the freshness factor, though it is a bit pricey for what you get. I am not sure one order would satiate. Though this could be a good thing for tourists visiting this spot as it leaves space for them to try the gelato or any of the many food places at the Market and/or Waterfront.

Best pasta in Seattle, hands down! Always fresh and delicious, the handmade pasta that Mike and co. serve here is amazing. Using non-traditional sauces to deliver interesting and unique flavors, the 3-4 dishes that changes daily are always tasty (you can check out their website to see what the daily offerings are). The portions may look smaller than most pasta joints, but considering this place is open only for lunch, having a huge meal to stuff your face in isn't optimal (and let's face it, most pasta places give you more food than you need and have you bringing home leftovers, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but that's not the point). A quick tip: This place is not easy to find if you've never been. It's located inside Procopio Gelateria. Gelato for dessert! Make sure to bring cash, because they do not take credit cards. The quality of the pasta here is supreme. The fact that the menu changes on a daily basis makes you want to come back for more, and you probably want to bring friends, just so each of you can order the whole menu so everybody can try a bite of each. I can easily say that I have not tasted a mediocre dish here. If you're in the area for lunch, you owe it to yourself to eat here.

  • Peter D.

I'm in agreement with the other reviews that have noted the pasta is undercooked (and I prefer al dente pasta) and the portions are small for the price. The pasta and sauces are good, but not amazing. Those reviewers who said they haven't had better pasta outside of Italy haven't gotten out to enough good Italian places here in the states - there are many that offer better quality AND value than Il Corvo.

absolutely delicious. simple and quaint space just walking distance from Pioneer Square. we ordered the bolognese and artichoke pasta dishes, salami and focaccia to start. devoured everything. the handmade fresh pasta was incredible. wish i lived in seattle, i'd come her for lunch weekly.

Oh my god talk about sweet goodness! Some of the best pasta I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection. We had the Bocatini and Lasagne both dishes were amazing highly recommend this place make sure you go early if you want to sit down and eat because it gets packed!

What is there not to love about this place?? this place has the most authentic noodles you can find in Seattle. Its so simple yet amazing. Its hidden inside a gelato shop and only serves food during lunch time on the weekdays. They have different specials every day and their sides are amazing. I love the bread with olive tapinade, their marinated olives, the marinaded onions and red peppers. What is not to love?? Wished it was open on the weekends so I could take people from out of town here (except there is supposed to be an actual store opening in Pioneer Square which I hope is open all day). the ONLY thing i don't like about this place that its cash only

    (5)
  • james k.

Great addition to the Pioneer Square area. I have eaten here 3 times and have enjoyed my pasta each time. The pasta is always al dente, so if you prefer over cooked or flimsy pasta, you won't like it! The prosciutto and pickled celery appetizer is amazing. The focaccia is also some of the best around. Portion sizes are small, which I like as I will always clean my plate and a lot of places give you American sized portions (and you wonder why we have an obesity epidemic)... Take a friend or business associate, get there by 11:30 and you won't be disappointed.

  • Lyn C.

Delicious, flavorful, high-quality pasta (about $9). The menu changes every day and the service is friendly and fast. Portions are small, so if you're really hungry, you might want to order an additional dish. The restaurant itself is TINY and gets packed, so come as early as you can (I shoot for 11:30am). If you're going with work buddies, it's probably best to stick to a smaller group, as it's harder to find a table for a party of 4 or more. On that note, "fighting" for a table here makes me antsy, which is the only reason for my missing star. If only the space was larger... but, the pasta is well worth the few minutes of anxiety. I've been here three times already and always look forward to a visit back.

If you go, expect 3 things 1- A long line from 11 to 1 and almost no food afterwards (or limited options) so arrive early 2- Three Pastas to choose from, good and tasty, but also simple. Handmade and home style. 3- Great value, the place is dirty cheap and you eat pretty good for the price, but if you want the best pasta no matter the price, this is not the place, go to Tavolata instead at the happy hour for example. Value is were this place excels, not quality.

  • Dawn G.

Hands down, the best pasta dishes my boyfriend and I have ever eaten! First of all ( although, not that it matters when it comes to food this insane ) the 9$ per dish is incredibly affordable and borders on ridiculous! Incredible, handmade fresh pasta with a menu that rotates every day. The Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese and the pumpkin ravioli we had were so amazing that we ordered the third dish on the menu because we couldn't imagine walking away without having tried it- it was equally as magnificent. Their house wine was delicious and priced less than most happy hour offerings. The restaurant space is intimate and cozy with a touch of that industrial charm and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will for certain make another trip before we leave the city. All I have to say is eat here, your mind and soul will thank you.

  • T M.

Top-quality ingredients, immaculate attention to detail. Quality, not quantity. Al dente as done in Italy, which even most of the good Italian places in the US don't get right. There's almost always a vegetarian option on the daily menu (if not it's usually due to anchovies). I've been dozens of times and there's never been a miss--in fact, everything I've had I would order again and again and again. Lucky the menu changes daily and I'm forced to continue to explore.

3.5 stars. My friend told me about this new fresh pasta place next to the gelato place so I thought I'd check it out. First of all, it's inside the Procopio Gelato store or more like part of it. The pasta was fresh and tasted good. We had the cavaletti and linguine both were al dente which how i like my pasta. Too bad the service was just okay, food took longer than expected, cash only and too pricey. It's $9 for a rather small portion. Enough for a small eater but not enough for me. I expect more but it did not deliver. It was good to at least try once. They do sell fresh pasta for you to take home an cook.

I finally got stars lined up last week and made it to Il Corvo for lunch. With cash on hand, my companion and I showed up at around 2:20 p.m. Procopio Gelato was easy to find, on the western side of Western Ave right behind Pike Place Market. The first dish on the board was tagliarini with roasted walnuts and chickpeas and pesto. The other two dishes had pancetta or pork in them, so I gladly chose the tagliarini, as did my other half. The pasta dishes are priced so that they come out to $9 even after tax. Once our order was in, we grabbed a sunny table inside near the patio door (all the patio tables were taken). The wait was only about 10 minutes for the two dishes; in the meantime, we helped ourselves to ice water, forks, and napkins. This place is casual enough, and with enough seating toward the end of lunch, that I'd feel comfortable eating here alone. When our order was called, we got our dishes and dug right in. Each pasta bowl had a perfect little mound of pasta with walnuts, chickpeas, and a light coating of pesto (mostly olive oil with a few flecks of green). There was also a dusting of parmesan on top. The portions may seem small, but I thought they were reasonable for lunch at this price point. Most people's days don't end with lunch, and I'd rather not be weighed down in a food coma when I have other obligations later in the day... So the portion sizes are fine. The pasta was quite amazing. I love the simplicity and care in these dishes. Both the walnuts and the chickpeas gave a distinct, welcome nuttiness to the dish, and the handmade ribbons of pasta were easy to twirl. There wasn't much pesto flavor, or at least not the kind I'm used to, but I still very much enjoyed the flavors in this pasta. As 3 p.m. approached, one of the staff members crossed out the pasta dishes, one by one, as they sold out, until finally she erased them all and wrote "FIN". This little act speaks to me about the kind of place Il Corvo is. It's not a full-time, full-service restaurant. The menu changes daily, and you never know when something you liked will come back again. With that in mind, I intend to try new things at Il Corvo as often as I reasonably can.

  • Chester V.

The food was very good; however, the price was way too high. Eating during a busy lunch felt like eating in a cattle drive canteen. When they brought the food out to our table one of the entrees was incorrect. The guy giving us the order got flummoxed and threw the bowl down saying "somebody ordered the Sicilian. I'll let you figure it out." We looked again at the receipt and no one had in fact ordered the Sicilian. So if you got 10 bucks, don't mind being pushed and shoved from behind while your eating, and don't mind eating something other than what you ordered I think you should wait for a slower time of day than lunch.

It is definitely worth the work to seek this place out for a delicious lunch. Located in a gelateria, Il Corvo serves up delicious fresh pasta Tuesday thru Friday. They have 3 or 4 pasta dishes with varying toppings and sauces depending on what is in season. I had the tagliatelli with house cured pancetta, Tuscan kale and cream and it was melt in your mouth good. The pasta was fresh and tender and perfectly cooked and typical to "true" Italian cooking wasn't overly doused with a heavy cream sauce. The flakes of kale in the sauce provided a little bit of green goodness and of course the bits of pancetta were perfectly salty and provided more richness. One of my friends had the cavatelli with braised pork "peposa" which was a short, fork tine patterned pasta with a winey, braised pork sauce. It was quite good and had a richness from the wine and braised pork. The outdoor patio makes this a great spot when the weather is nice. It is a very casual environment but has some of the energy from the Pike Place Market crowds. I highly recommend going out of your way to leave the office for some great lunchtime pasta!

When I want something other than what the CID has to offer, Il Corvo is always at the top of the list. You can't really go wrong with anything from their small, simple menu. It gets crackin so taking it to go works for me!

Personal and perfect. Il Corvo was a delightful surprise when looking for a late lunch on a visit to Seattle last week. The proprietor was knowledgable and happy to talk about the food he clearly loves. The food was quickly prepared, very reasonably priced, and most delicious - the mafalda cooked nice and tender, while the gigli alla bolognese a bit more aldente (and the flavors rich and balanced). I realize I sound like a pompous food snob describing the pastas here, but it might be the first time I've ever eaten pasta worthy of such description. And the atmosphere here is definitely not food snob, just a good, friendly, small nook of pasta loveliness. Lunch only, but find a way to go!

  • Nick F.

Get here early and be ready to share a table if your party doesn't fill all the seats. It's part of the fun! The pasta selection is ever changing but always good. Portions are small, so I recommend the delicious house-made focaccia on the side. Plus, awesome and unpretentious service.

  • Brianna E.

Il Corvo could not be more deserving of my first 5 star review, oh myyyy. Basically this little hole-in-the-wall of a gem serves the most delicious, unique pastas I have ever been able to find. Especially in Seattle. They make 3 dishes a day, and rotate dishes daily. They also have a gelato bar for the perfect dessert :) The price, the freshness, the quaint and adorable atmosphere... this spot can't be beat. I've been twice in the last month and I"m pretty convinced they will be back every week until the end of time.

This place is amazing..it's busy and not open long enough, but totally worth the lack of pioneer street parking. Best bowl of pasta I've ever tasted and for only $9. This is the only way I can get my bed out of bed, get ready and out the door in under 20 min: for "spaghetti breakfast" at il corvo.

  • Andri P.

The pasta is al-dente and beautifully cooked. The place is medium size, it can be very crowded at times and the pasta menu always changed, so check their website/blog before you came. I ordered different things on my four visits there and everything have been great. Even if the pasta menu sounds plain and boring, for example like spaghetti bolognese, they can make it amazing. I don't know how they did it, but I'm a big fan!

  • Bunneh L.

I ordered the cavatelli with a puttanesca style sauce. It was DELISH. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce itself was slightly pungent and flavorful. The service was friendly and prompt. The only downside is the TEENY TINY portions for $9. I ate around 12:30 and literally left hungry. I thought maybe it would go away if I just waited, but it didn't. I couldn't tolerate the hunger any longer and got a second lunch at 1:45. And just for the record, I'm not a humongous tub of lard who eats a shit ton of food in one sitting. I'm a thin Asian girl (5'6"/120 lbs) with a healthy appetite. Like another reviewer said, I'd much rather pay $12-15 and receive a filling meal. My strategy for next time is to go with another person and order three entrees total. I saw lots of people doing this actually. Seems like I'm far from the only one who finds the portions stingy.

The perfect portion size. I left Corvo feeling great and not stuffed/heavy at all. My friend and I had the Fusilli, alla Bolognese. It was beyond delicious and the sauce was very light. The presentation was simple and beautiful... The way it should be! The service was friendly. This is a great place for lunch and I will surely return soon.

I dragged both my kids (7 and 4) on a half mile walk just to try this place out. We have been craving fresh pasta since our last trip to Italy and from what I've read on the Yelp reviews, this place sounded like it was as good as it gets. And it was totally worth the walk and the every minute of the wait in a long line. First of all, I was impressed by the perfect equation of the number of tables, the customers, and the people waiting in line: it always worked out no matter how impossible it seemed, there was always a table available when you finished ordering. I had ordered all 3rd the specials and alla Blanca for my daughter. Both my kids, who are super picky eaters, actually both finished their food. It was funny to see my 7 year old, almost in a trance as he was spooning his plate of bolognese. I bought all the leftovers to my husband who ate it cold and still thought it was just as good as the ones we had in Tuscany. Even the dipping oil that was served with the bread was so fresh you almost felt like you were in an olive Grove in a faraway land. And the best part is it's an incredible bargain at $9 for perfectly handmade pasta. Cannot wait to go back

Grade: A-. Great Pasta at a Great Price. Not much to add to what all the other reviewers have said. Having eaten at Scarpetta, Del Posto, Marea, Babbo, etc. in NYC for nearly 10 years, I have been spoiled and am always on the lookout for great pasta. The pasta here rivals any of the forementioned names and is tremendous and at $9.00 per pasta plate, tough to beat. Three daily pastas and make sure you get here on the earlier side as they do run out on occassion. The Kale Salad (a very light and subtle roasted garlic and parsley vinaigrette, candied fennel pumpkin seeds, parmesan and thin sliced croutons) is a delight and a great pairing to a pasta dish. If you're not full after a bowl of pasta and salad, the shortbread cookies will put a finishing touch to your meal. The only downsides to this restaurant are first world problems - only open from 11a.m. - 3p.m. (M-F), some customers can get obnoxious with trying to save seats, and people with a hearty appetite will want to order two pasta dishes.

Wow - incredible fresh pasta. Went here for lunch and tried the pasta strappata with brased beef ragu and cavatelli with red-wine braised mushrooms and cream. The mushrooms in the cavatelli were full of flavor and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Definitely coming back when I can...

Why does it always take the news that a business is closing/moving to get me to finally try it? I've had Il Corvo bookmarked for months, and after hearing the news they were closing this Friday (to start preparing for their new location in Pioneer Square), I made it for lunch. Since they're moving, I won't bother talking about anything but the food and service. (Although I loved the space and location.) I shared two dishes: the spaghettini with amazing breadcrumbs, lemon, parsley, anchovies, and chilis AND: The cavatelli with tomato sauce, golden raisins, capers, and toasted pinenuts. I usually don't like capers but this was amazing. Somehow the sweet/salty balance of the raisins and the capers was perfect, and the smooth tomato sauce tied everything together perfectly. The pastas here are divine- they are handmade and cooked perfectly al dente- no soggy noodles here. :) The portions were just right for the cost and the pasta was among the best I've had this side of the Atlantic. The woman who took the order was very friendly and helpful in explaining more about the move. Check out Il Corvo's blog ( ilcorvopasta.com ) to keep informed about updates on the new location. I loved the idea that there was just a tiny two-burner stove where the chef was churning out the amazing pasta until it ran out. That's old-school Italian right there. Nonetheless, I'm very happy for their success and I hope that the new location will be just as good! I wish i had made it here sooner, but I will definitely hit up the new spot as soon as i hear of its opening! (I think they're aiming for a January date.) Day 29 of 30 for 30

My favorite pasta in the region! Very casual, unpretentious, yet friendly service. You get only 3 options, but I would have tried all 3 that day, and loved the 2 I ended up tasting. Too bad it is so difficult to get to: open only for lunch from Tuesday to Friday, with a long line and no guaranteed seating. Nevertheless, totally worth it!

Oh god, this place... I have enjoyed Il Corvo's divine creations at both their former and new locations. I have both times, left with a loss of words. Their pasta is simply amazing. It is almost as if the chef and his team are able to devote every ounce of their energy to each and every dish that is served to each and every guest in their fine little establishment. My only guess is that the chef/owner does put every ounce of his energy into everything about this restaurant. It is awesome to see a new post on their website each day with a little teaser of that day's delicacies. It's like a daily treat for my imagination. And for once the price is not the only reason I go! A wonderful portion of handcrafted pasta for less than $10! Add a glass of house wine for less than $5! Get there right around opening, they will be packed and dishes will be selling out quickly.

Homemade pasta rocks!!! Place was kinda hard to find at first, but worth the adventure. They offer daily 3 pasta entree & 3 appetizer selections. Menu is small and simple, but they master what they do serve. Highly recommend to order bread & olive oil to mop up the pasta sauce. Sister and I couldnt decide what to order so we ordered all 3 pastas, then capped off lunch with cafe affocato with stracciatella ice cream (to die for).

In the last 4 months, I must have been to this place about two dozen times. No, I'm not kidding. The pasta is handmade. The menu changes daily. Their foccacia is good but filling and takes away from the pasta hunger. It is simple, the portion size is just right for a mid-day lunch, their sauces are made to complement the pasta and never the star attraction. For a few days, they had a spicy chickpea salad which I still dream about. Never go to this place between 11:45 AM and 12:30 PM. You will stand in line and may not get a table. I lunch at 11 so it typically works out well for me.

This place is BUSY - a constant flow of traffic. Food on the board runs out quickly. Pasta was good but was't spectacular as I had hoped. It's a hole in the wall where you'll probably have to sit with strangers. Overall, it was just average.

The other reviews cover it. Simple and delicious! If you work downtown or are on jury duty, you definitely want to go here.

This place blows any fancy expensive pasta place out of the water! The only drawback is its popularity, and the place can get rather crowded at lunch time. However, the food is worth the wait. I would recommend anything that's on the menu, and don't forget to grab an order of focaccia bread to soak up any leftover sauce.

This is hands down my new favorite pasta fix in town. If there is ever someone who believed in doing one thing right, it is these folks. They only offer 3 pastas each day but they know their art inside out. We had the tagliarini with parsely pesto and farro cavatelli with red wine and mushroom ragu. If I had to pick between the two (since they were both delicious), I would go for the latter. The mushroom ragu just had the earthy tones that sang to me in harmony. They also seem very inventive with their pasta preparations. It's hard to imagine how many different variations you can make with pasta and these guys certainly need to be lauded for the bravado. Customers should support these types of businesses since they give us such great food at affordable prices. I will go back here in the blink of an eye, too bad they are only open for lunch on weekdays.

Could make an argument for the best pasta in the NW! Mike is the bomb and creates magic each day with his special pasta tools. The sauces are simple yet dynamic in the flavors they contain. Check out the blog each day for the specials and to see what else is going on in the world of Il Corvo. I can't wait to get a spot in one of his pasta making classes. It is my favorite spot to grab lunch in all of Seattle.

I haven't been to the new location yet, but I've heard it's an improvement and can't wait to check it out. But this is by far some of the best pasta I've had outside of Italy.

Pesto swirly pasta! Perfectly al dente. Delicious! I'm so glad this was on my Seattle bucket list before moving away. We went at 11:30 a.m. and it was already busy, but the wait was less than 10 minutes. By the time we finished eating, the line was out the door. They also have flavored San Pellegrino -- at least 4 flavors, including the rarer blood orange and grapefruit! Yum.

Situated next to the bug museum and an eel skin factory outlet, this place is awesome! A must try :) The pasta is hand-made and freshly cooked. The pasta is cooked al dente, aka perfect!- just a little firmness for that great texture. The sauces are very scrumptious with layers of flavor. And gelato awaits you after your meal. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I asked for hot water and a slice of lemon - the staff brought out a fresh, whole lemon and cut me two slices. Everything is fresh! The only thing that would make me take off half a star (if I could) are the small portions. This would be a light lunch. Will come again. And don't forget to bring cash!

I love that you can get quality pasta for a good price served to you in just a couple minutes here. If you want, you can check their website in the morning to see what is on their menu for the day, but everything they serve always sounds amazing so there really is no point in doing so. It seems no matter what day of the week, this place gets packed very quickly, so make sure to get here early in order to steal a table. I am so impressed by how they managed to make what would otherwise be a fine dining experience into a relaxed and laid back meal. My pasta of choice a couple weeks ago was a cavatelli with ground prosciutto and cannellini beans, in a tomato garlic and sage base. While delicious, I must say that it got too salty half way through, but having focaccia on the side for soaking up the extra sauce really helps. It was so good and easy to eat that I think I finished my meal in less than 5 minutes. And surprisingly, the modest portion size actually filled me up. For a quick pasta fix on a weekday, you cannot go wrong with Il Corvo.

I definitely see the charm of Il Corvo Pasta, serving only three pastas a day, and cooking them deliciously. Definitely go on the website beforehand to see what they are serving for the day. I went around 12:15, so right around the lunch crowd time, but the line wasn't as bad as expected. It probably took about 20 minutes. You grab a seat after ordering (and surprisingly, there are a lot of open tables considering the place is so busy, so please don't have someone in your party save a seat while you're in line.) My only complaint is that the pasta I ordered that day (Gramigne, alla bolognese) the sauce was a bit dry for me. Otherwise, the flavor of the sauce and consistency of the noodles were perfect. So glad that this place is within walking distance to my work.

A gazillion visits to Il Corvo Pasta from the original Hillclimb to their current downtown site....hands down Chef Easton, his wife, and their entire staff has this formula down pat. Still the crazy line anticipating today's featured entrees and sides. It's one of those places that you can't go wrong with whatever you choose off the chalkboard. If you're in the vicinity - just go already, don't linger, bus your table, because someone else wants your table already - pronto!

The only thing that is wrong with this place is that it doesn't open longer hours! Il Corvo only opens Monday through Friday for lunch, so that means NO DINNER and NO WEEKENDS. Everything else about the place is good though! If you read the other Yelp reviews, you'll know that every day the menu is different. It's usually three different kinds of pastas. Every time I go with people, we just order one of each and a thing of focaccia and then just share it all. Portions are okay but some people might say it's not enough. Go there now if you haven't yet! Best Italian place in downtown Seattle hands down!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
