Hudson fits into Georgetown like a quarter into an [old] Lusty Lady booth. RIP Lusty Lady. I miss your billboards. I don't need to have a gour-'met' breakfast every time I go out; dive bars are fine too. Hudson is at that above-middle-ground breakfast level that usually pleases everybody in your crew (3.5 stars). The Brisket Omelette and French Toast is a good consistent choice according to peeps, but for me, it's all about the Shrimp and Cheesy grits (poached eggs, prease!) I order it every time I come for breaky and I don't feel bad about it at all. Rich etoufee-ish roux-y richness with a generous amount of shrimp, poured on top of perfectly-creamy cheese grits. Mix in the runny egg yolk and spread it on the whole wheat toast like a thick, cheesy butter mmm It's a shame that I am reviewing now, especially since we've been coming for years, because the last couple of times, our food has been lukewarm instead of hot. And the last 3x, my eggs were not poached right. Today, I had to send the eggs back because they were hardboiled (hates that. Please.don' t.spit.in.my .food.haha.) The Monte Cristo was so room temperature, the cheese hadn't even melted; 'had to send that back to get nuked. Bummer. The veggie gravy was just warm (but TASTY) and the biscuit was so hard, the gravy had to soak in--just so I could cut it :/ My replacement eggs took a while, so my Shrimp/Grits were cold by the time they arrived, but I wasn't going to tempt fate and send it back for reheating... Service has always been great here. I hope that the food prep comes back from its slight spiral to match the service... The teeter-totter is still on the good side, but there are other toys on the playground--'hope that the food gets sorted soon.

Have come in for weekend brunch here a few times and dinner shortly after they opened afew years ago. (Summer in the evenings it gets SUPER hot in here, just an FYI) Finally getting around to writing a review. I probably should get in here more for often for dinner seeing as it is a stone's throw from one of my usual brewery tasting rooms. They do a really good hangar steak on the dinner menu, and I have also been very pleased with the Chicken Fried Steak and Shrimp and Grits on the breakfast menu, have a small but decent draft beer selection, Bloody Mary is really good, and mixed drinks are poured strong.

I'm officially in love with this place!! I've only eaten here for breakfast/brunch...but it was AMAZING! Delicious iced coffee, my friend and I shared biscuits & gravy and a beef brisket omelet...SO good. Staff was great too! I'll definitely be frequenting here. :)

Really surprised by the location -- didn't know this place existed! But I was pleasantly surprised. The pub food was on par or better than most brew pubs in the area, and the ambience was pretty cool, albeit a bit small. Our service wasn't the best, but their only appeared to be one person tending bar and serving in the whole restaurant. If I was in my typical impatient mood, I may have been more upset, but I liked the fact that I could sit and chat with friends as the place wasn't too loud. My dish -- the shrimp po-boy, was really good. Partner had the mac and I'd give that a thumbs up, too! Overall, I'd say this place is pretty solid and worth a try!

We're always in search of a new breakfast place near West Seattle (need to branch out from Chelan Cafe!) and I've driven by Hudson numerous times, each time promising to try it out. Finally made it happen. We went 2 weekends ago with friends. Seated right away, very friendly staff. The menu was excellent. 2 orders of breakfast taco's, 1 brisket omelet (me) & something else that escapes me. I was too focused on my meal. It was great. Nice size, not too huge. My only complaint with breakfast was that the coffee service was slow. But I need a lot of coffee in the am so... We also missed the fact that it's a bar so 21 & older. So when we showed up with our 18 yr old daughter, we had to come up with plan B. Regardless, we'll absolutely come back & try breakfast with a side of Bloody Mary's!

The brisket omelet here is AMAZING! It is seriously one of my favorite things ever and I'm not a big egg eater! Also the Bloody Mary is an absolute MUST! The service is sometimes a bit slow but if you can look past that the food is absolutely delicious! It is a bit small in the restaurant so sometimes there is a wait to get a table but it's worth it!

I wasn't going to review Hudson, because I didn't want everyone to find out about my secret spot - but, when I checked to make sure that it had good ratings on Yelp, I found out it's not a secret. 225 reviews, and I no longer feel responsible to keep it my secret. I do have to say, though, that I am surprised to see that most the reviews are for Brunch. Yes, their brunch is delicious - but, try dinner. They serve some of the most delicious comfort food in town. Not the greasy kind of comfort food, but the well made - down home - large portions - flavorful - kind of comfort food. And not over priced! They make mean cocktails as well. The service isn't the quickest, but that's not their edge. Their edge is a community joint, where it feels like you're a friend. It's enough 'out of the way' that the patrons intentionally dine there; for good reasons. So, yes - try brunch; But, really - go for dinner. Yum.

The food was pretty delicious. The drinks average - too much ice, too much mix. The service was pushy & rude. "Meh, I've experienced better"

My new favorite breakfast spot. The biscuits and gravy are ridiculous. They have a nice staff and great atmosphere. They always have great music playing. I will definitely be back.

Here is the major plus..huge Federal parking lot right across Hudson St. Driving an RV,Semi, or towing a house? No problem! Great food and in a good location coming or going through Seattle from the south.

I eat here pretty regularly. Their location is a bit weird, and parking can be a bit dodgy, as it's pretty much only street parking (other than a very small lot off of 99) and there are days that's questionable, but it's really delicious. My favorite is their Bowl of Grits - it's rich, flavorful, and filling. I love it. It's certainly not health food. I've also had lunch, and it's good, but breakfast is what will keep me returning. I love the vibe, love the light (many windows!), and think the servers are usually pretty great. This is definitely a place I'll continue to visit!

It was about 9:30pm when I was craving a steak. I called and asked if we arrived within the next 10 minutes, could we still order from the kitchen... the friendly voice on the other end said, "Yes, absolutely. As long as you're in here before 10pm, you can order." And then, we magically appeared minutes later, drooling. Ok... I was drooling after reading about the Ranchero Steak. Done. Yep... That's what I want. Medium, please and thank you. My boyfriend got an assortment of goodies: the HUmmus Plate, a side salad and some cheesey-gooey fries that smelled amazing! Now, if you're into sports like we are (right in the middle of March Madness), don't go here unless your team isn't playing... They have no TVs and no radio. Just some cool music and good atmosphere for conversation. They have a great full bar with beer on tap (we like a good IPA and they had one), as well as bottles and mixed cocktails that looked pretty delightful. I will need to check those out another time. Our food looked really good, and there was plenty of it. You're definitely getting a great amount of food for the prices you pay. That should be a draw for people coming by. I must say... My steak was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and covered in sauteed mushrooms and onions. Whomever was cooking in the kitchen that night, we told our server to let him know we give him a big thumbs up (a suggestion for other yelpers to consider, in case different kitchen staff cook differently and maybe better than others). The mashed potatoes are also fantastic. I love a chunky, home-style mashed potato with good seasoning and a touch of sour cream. I'm not a fan of the creamy, no lumps style, liken to baby food (blegh!). And the bunch of asparagus I got were spicy and nicely done. I ate every bite of steak and my asparagus, leaving a little bit of the mashed potatoes to bring home for breakfast the next morning. My boyfriend, the light eater he is, ate a small amount of all his dishes and boxed the rest to take home. It was all eaten the next day. I've only been here this one night, but we will come again and give a review of whatever else we get.

The staff is friendly, and that's the only positive thing I can say about this place. We came in for a quick bite before heading to Seattle Cider Co, since it was just next door. We ordered sandwiches with hashbrowns on the side. Food took 40 minutes to come. 40 minutes for sandwiches. The waitress walked back and forth a dozen times while we waited but never once apologized or offered any explanation for the delay. I wish I could say the food was worth waiting for...not the case. The bacon in my BLT was stone cold, as were my hashbrowns. Maybe it was an off day for them, because I have no idea how a place like this gets 4 stars.

Food was awesome. Server was nice but needed more than one person. Way too hot inside, I know, afternoon sun but turn the air on.

I joined some good friends for breakfast here last Saturday. It was a cool little joint and the staff were FABULOUS! Good service and witty too. Not in a snarky way either. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. It was good but a bit too much sage in the breading for me. Not what I expected. The home made biscuit was great and the eggs were as good as an egg is. I would go back for sure and was happy to have been introduced to the place. Maybe they read the reviews because we got swift and repeat coffee service when we were there. So maybe they have corrected that since the June post of another review. Was nice that you could have an adult experience without crying children for a change too. Not every place has to be for kids.

In the industrial, SODO area, I have found a great place to get my breakfast grub on. Seating is limited with a 16-stool bar, six booths, and 4 two-top tables. Weather permitting, there are a few tables on the patio. Once seated, the ratio of server to table permits a decent level of attention. I've been here twice and ordered breakfast both times. The shrimp and grits, as well as the Francesca Scramble were very good. And although I rarely comment on the house coffee (Umbria), this place serves a delicious cup! The portions are hearty but not gut-busting, and the servers (all women) are friendly, if not playful. Hudson also has a lunch and dinner menu which I plan to try. If I were to subtract a star, it would be for the occasional fly. I hate flies...

Great Bloody Mary's with Rainer beer back. Their weekend brunch specials are extra special with BACON. Wait time could be long, but worth it.

I came here for breakfast with a group of coworkers, it's a small restaurant so luckily we were able to get a couple tables together. I had the breakfast tacos and they were delciious and filling! While I only had coffee they looked to have a great local beer options as well as wine! I'll have to come back and check out those options next time I'm around!

I went for the Saturday breakfast since I was in the area for other errands that morning. The bartender was warm and playful, which was fun and my order came out quickly. The food was fine, but not great. The chicken fried steak was ok, but the breading didn't stick to it well and the gravy was also just ok. The eggs and sausage were also fine, but nothing special. The biscuit (no upcharge for a biscuit instead of toast :) ) was warm and moist but still crumbly (the biscuit was the best part of my meal). The coffee tasted a little off; kinda liquorice/medicine-y. It is an OK place to go if you're close, but not worth going out of the way for.

Seating was fast during breakfast. Got seated and served in 10 minutes. Wifey got shrimp grits. We were hoping it would be spicier but if you like a more mild flavor, it is perfect. I had the chicken fried steak and that was the best mthfckn chicken fried steak I've had in seattle. The texture of the steak could be better, a little over done. However, that was mitigated by the awesome batter and amaaaaazing gravy. It is spicy and absolutely delicious. On top of that the 90's music made it a perfect start to the day. But now it's time for a nap :)

I have mixed feelings about writing this review, because I'm afraid if this joint becomes better known, it might be hard to get a table here. Alas, I must be honest, and let the World know that Hudson is a very nice spot, and you'd probably enjoy it. The space is cozy and comfortable, housed in an old brick building on the western edge of industrial Georgetown seating is a nice mix of booths and small tables arranged around a u-shaped bar. I'm not sure this is a great place for large groups, though. If you like 'diner food', you'll love this place. American diner classics like chicken fried steak (better than average, actually), pork chops, and other goodies populate the fairly large menu. The portions are generous without being 'Claim Jumper' obscene, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is gracious as well. Side dishes feature fresh produce, and the mashed potatoes don't come from a box. Overall, a nice little spot that only looks like a dive. If you want gritty, industrial ambiance with food that's several notches better than the neighborhood, this is a good place to check out.

I went here with a large group of people for lunch. They knew we were coming so they had our tables ready for us. We sat outside under the noon sun so we grabbed a couple umbrellas and put them up. Several other tables followed suit as it was just too hot to be outside with no shade. Those who couldn't score an umbrella quickly took to trying to find some covered seating which in turn confused the waitress as to where all her tables were located then. There was only one waitress for our table of 16, three tables of 2, and two tables of 4. It seemed like a lot for one person to handle and why she tried her best things moved very slowly. The first person to order received his plate last and that was after four people who ordered the same exact thing got theirs first. It wasn't even by a couple minutes either. Food arrived whenever it arrived. The food, though, was delicious. Tasty. Scrumptious. I had the special shrimp tacos which were heavenly. About four of us finished our meals much faster then the rest so we asked for our checks so we could settle our bill. The waitress said no problem. We didn't get our checks until twenty minutes later after everyone else had finished and the table was cleared. Food was great though!

Stupid....it's a restaurant and nobody under 21 can come in to eat. I was really hoping to try the chicken fried steak. Oh well...loss of business on their part

If you like beef you really need to order the brisket omelet. My husband and I agree that it's the best in Seattle and it's huge. . We always say we're going to try something else but we never do. I like my hash browns extra crispy and they were perfect! The service is great and everyone is friendly. Try it, you'll love it!

Looks like I'm in the minority here but this place is just "ok" in my book. The drinks were good. The blood mary is fantastic. The beer cocktail that includes St Germaine is a disappointment. None of the floral notes of the elderflower showed through and it ended up tasting like passion fruit kool-aide mixed with beer. Sad panda. The food was just...meh. The fries with cheese sauce were way less exciting than they should have been. Not enough salt? Or cheese? Or something? I don't know... just flat. I ordered the veggie chicken fried steak because my rule is to always support fun and interesting veggie options. Again... it was ok. No real complaints but nothing to right home about either. The breading was kind of soggy and the "steak" was kind of mushy. The gravy lacked flavor. Overall... it was a moderately flavorless pile of beige mush. Sad Panda, again. The atmosphere was pleasent. We had no trouble getting a table for 4 at 8pm on a Friday night. Parking was a breeze. I'll probably be back.

I'm literally halfway through my meal here right now and need to tell the world how amazing this chicken fried steak is. I came here solo on a whim, thinking I'd use their wifi to get some work done while I enjoy breakfast. I drive past Hudson all the time and keep meaning to try it out. While waiting for my food, I checked out the Yelp reviews and noticed a fair amount of negativity. So I feel I should balance that out by sharing my very good experience. My food was delivered promptly, piping hot. LOTS of food. The gravy is flavorful and slightly spicy. The crust on the steak is crispy. The biscuit is massive and decently tender. The coffee is delicious. Way to impress a girl, Hudson!

Very impressed. Bartenders are friendly but not overly. They leave you alone but are there when you need them. The food was great. I'm a grits fiend and they definitely satisfied my craving. And they serve a small glass of beer with their Bloody Mary like it should be!! Prices were average compared to most places. I'll be back!

I had a great black bean veggie burger with handcut fries. I loved the layout and the vibe of the place. Their music was awesome! I felt like I was in the 70's haha. I'm sure it's not like that all of the time but I thought it was fitting. Kind of expensive $10.50 for a veggie burger w/ fries.

I don't make it down here often...usually on the way to or from the airport. But it's worth the trip! The Bloody Mary's are great and the Chicken Fried Steak...one of the best I've ever had!

  • J K.

We've been coming here for a few years now. The food is really good and the Bloody Mary's are awesome. Try one with gin, "red snapper". 21and over makes it really nice, no whiny kids. It's a great place for food and drinks but most of all the staff is fantastic. There are a lot of good bars out there, I return to my favorite places because of the staff. Thus is one I will continue to frequent.

Friends are in town and we've actually gotten up and are ready for food pre-10am on a Saturday. Awesome. Sad though, my favorite Brunch spot in West Seattle (The Bohemian...may she RIP) has been gone for quite some time. I am complaining about this loudly outside my apartment, and my neighbor mentions Hudson. "Where's that?!?", I mock back...knowing it's not in any junction I've been to. The thought of leaving my West Seattle for another's biscuits and gravy just seemed wrong...but I was convinced...so we drove BRUNCH BRUNCH BRUNCH... So let's be honest, I get excited when any place is open for brunch hours and has a full bar. But I'm f*%$ing stoked when the bartenders actually know how to use it...and dont hold back at 11am. Bloody's with a beer back, tequila in my grapefruit juice...get a drink at brunch...live a little! I've been dying to review this place but wanted to make sure it was a sure thing...so I went back. and went back. and went back. I will now list some amazing menu options: Biscuits and Gravy ***** Pulled Pork Omelet ***** Shrimp and Cheesy Grits **** Deep Fried French Toast **** Chicken Fried Steak ***** Monte Cristo **** Blackened Salmon Sandwich **** Oyster Burger **** Never waited more than 10 minutes to get a table on a busy Saturday morning. I wish I lived closer, I wish there were more Hudsons out there. Omg, Yum, Nom Nom, etc. etc.

We're on a mission to find authentic, Texas-style chicken fried steak (CFS). Hudson is getting pretty darn close! The meat was not the frozen patty that is offered at most restaurants in the city, and the frying was perfect. For those CFS experts out there, these had the famous "pocket" - the space between the steak and batter that's caused from frying. The crust was tasty and the steak tender. The gravy wasn't perfect, but it didn't stop us each from devouring our meal. One final note... It took a while for our food to come, and the waitress took our drinks off the ticket without us having to say anything. And I had a $9 drink. Classy all the way. Stay gold, Hudson!

We love this place, never a 'bad' meal, hard to have a favorite menu item, any one I have had so far has been favorite...the BEST Blloody Mary's in Seattle....BUT RIGHT NOW they have a really BAD FLY PROBLEM

  • Ronnie A.

Great comfort food and some of the best and friendliest service I have ever experienced. Everything is homemade. They even make their own salad dressings and salad croutons from scratch. The brisket sandwich is my favorite item on the menu. And even though I am a parent I like the fact that it is 21 and over. Nothing wrong with an occassional oasis where you can enjoy a meal without screaming children.

My impression at first was a 3.5-ish. At night it's pretty laid-back and chill. I get the Jamaican Ginger cocktail and Squash Tacos: -Drink: very nice, simple and refreshing. -Tacos: these were really good and squash is awesome. The bartender seemed indifferent but pleasant enough. Time to pay and I noticed I have a voicemail from Chase---BUGGERS! My card happened to be compromised recently so it wouldn't work. I end up just paying what cash I have on hand and to told the bartender that I'm going to contact the owner if I can get this sorted out. Later on, Mariam replies to me from the general email contact and right away she seemed very friendly and understanding of my situation. I told them I'd try coming back the following night and pay the rest. She said that's all I'd have to do and thanked me for my honesty. She was super nice. I paid the rest and the bartender__insert above__. Also, someone's sweet yellow Ducati Sport Classic was parked just outside.... siiiick! :D

This place is super cute and the staff is very friendly and helpful. For this reason I like to come here, but once inside the food is so so (cheese sauce not real cheese on the nachos for example) and their drinks are also fine. Nothing super special, nothing bad just so so... Still a cute place to hang out with nice staff.

I LOVE getting breakfast here! And when I say 'love' I don't mean it like I love my sneakers or pandas or a good steak. I mean I love Hudson so much I want to make sweet love to this restaurant... after hours... when no one else is there because that would just be creepy otherwise. I've had a number of dishes here for breakfast and all of them have been amazing and spot on with what I was expecting them to be... albeit a bit more tasty. The staff here are pros. My coffee is delish and constantly being refilled, they're prompt on removing plates from the table and they're friendly and able to joke around even though it's obvious they are crazy busy serving tables. I've been here with a small group of 3 or 4 and I've been here with a group of 7 or 8 people. They're always able to accommodate us and provide the same service regardless. I'm cool with the prices for the food here since the food is spectacular and makes my taste buds smile and the staff are all pretty rad. The tables and general establishment are all clean and they do a great job of getting tables ready for their next guests. They get super busy on Sundays after about 11am so plan ahead or send scouts to reserve a spot for you. Also, you probably want to car pool since the parking sitch is a little weird... there's a lot of it around a fence but if you're lazy or prone to sudden naps after dining you may want to park close to the door... hence the car pool. This joint is definitely a spot I'll take out of town friends for breakfast. Oh, and it is a 21+ spot so leave the kiddies at home. I'm a fan!

I came here for weekend brunch with two girlfriends while visiting from Vancouver BC, HOW did we find this place? My bf is from this area or otherwise I may not have ventured out! Cute diner with a horseshoe bar, & no nonsense cute staff. I love the menu options, we took a long time deliberating as we all wanted everything on the menu. I opted for the Franscesa scramble - eggs, saus., roasted red peppers, jalapeno, & parmesan cheese, served with hashbrowns and biscuit (or toast). Other items tried by the girls were Huevos Ranchers which they said was the best they have had. I LOVED the Hudson, we don't have this southern style of breakfast at home so it's such a treat to get it! Big servings too. I also had my first Beermosa! I wasn't sure if I'd be down but I thought what the hell, oj and Rainier, mmmmmmm I will be back next Seattle visit!

When I think of breakfast in Seattle I think Hudson. For two reasons, one is I live on Hudson so I frequently have breakfast in my house and two, Hudson is on Hudson. During the summer they have an awesome patio to have breakfast outside (which is always a treat in our weather deprived part of the world. The staff is great particularly this one dude with a goatee who is always right where you need him with that coffee pot. Speaking of coffee, theirs is aces. If you want an omelette the size of a radiator then they have one. I have the biscuit as my choice of bread. They make them there and you can tell. The booths are uncomfortable though so I try to stick to a table. They are the wrong height which means I pretty much start thinking about as soon as I sit in one. And then the food comes and I stop thinking about the height and get busy eating.

After an early flight back to Seattle I had only one thing on my mind, Breakfast. The one place that I pass all the time but have never been in the the Hudson, so this was the perfect time. My girlfriend and I walked in to an nearly empty place so we had out pick of seating. I will tell you by the end of our meal the place was packed, so the earlier the better. I ordered the Biscuits And Gravy, two homemade buttermilk biscuits topped with our homemade country style sausage gravy. The gravy was lighter than most I had and had a good amount of onions in it which I really liked. My girlfriend had the Suffer'n Succtash which is peppery jumble of beans, tofu and veggies served with two eggs, hash browns and toast. Very good as well. Great place and a great atmosphere.

I dig the vibe at this place. I went at dinner time. I ordered the Veggie Fried "Steak" and it was delicious! The potatoes and vegetables were yummy. The service was quick and friendly. I would definitely come back again to check out their brunch dishes.

My wife, another couple, and I visited the restaurant for lunch. My wife and I shared the Briskett Sandwich, which was accompanied by french fries. Our friends ordered a Patty Melt and Shrimp and Cheesy Grits. The briskett sandwich was tasty and my friends enjoyed their meals, as well. Thin paper napkins. Lots of windows to allow the sunlight in. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant had the feel of a neighborhood eatery.

My new favorite hangout spot after work!! Okay, so I have to admit, I have a love affair with dive bars! I just love them! They have character. Basically, I drive past this joint every day (once in the morning when I'm going to work and once at night when I'm driving home from work). Naturally, I thought I'd stop in one day to see if they have a decent happy hour. Little did I know they sell $2 Miller High Life on their happy hour menu! Yes please! They also have beer on tap, well drinks, and plenty of eats on their happy hour menu. One night, after work, the bartender who was working that night (Lily) told my coworker and me about their awesome breakfast that they have on the weekends. Again, I thought, I need to come here for breakfast sometime! So I convinced my husband to take me and I was FLOORED at how packed the place was! We took a seat at the bar and ordered. I had the shrimp and cheesy grits and was blown away! I've never had grits before, but if I ever do have them again, I don't think they will compare to the Hudson grits! I truly believe in a great happy hour, over the top customer service, and mouth watering food... and Hudson has it all!

Fun times, and I'd say 3.5 stars if Yelp would let me! A little vintage Michael Jackson and Barry White to set a sunny brunch mood, a tasty and well-balanced mimosa, and plenty of vegetarian-friendly options make Hudson a worthwhile destination. We got there a little late so I'm not sure how long the wait actually was, but the place didn't look full even around 11 on a Saturday morning (which is great, because brunch is a meal that, although I love it, I hate waiting for - especially after a 10K). I had the Francesca scramble, a tasty mix of nicely spiced veggie sausage (subbed for regular), bell peppers, a little jalapeño, and some grated Parmesan. Scrambles can be hard to do right, despite the deceptive simplicity; this had a great ration of fixings-to-eggs. Generous serving of pretty standard hash browns on the side along with four pieces of toast made it a plate just a bit too big to conquer (toast went untasted!), and a good deal at around $9. My mimosa was similarly tasty, full of pulpy orange juice goodness and just the right hint of sparkling wine without being watery. At $7.50, it was maybe a bit more than I expected for a brunch mimosa, but no matter! Cool crowd, tucked away from everywhere, and comfortably informal and friendly, I can see this as a consistent brunch destination (but not for any little or little-ish ones, as it's 21+) and one I'll check out for dinner in the future.

We met at the Hudson for a company sales & marketing team breakfast on December 20th. I've driven by before but never stopped. There was 18 of us this morning so we pretty much dominated the place. I have to say, these guys (gals) were great! We were served in a timely manner, the staff was super helpful, gracious, and a lot of fun. The food was great. I had a good old fashioned comfort breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, and wheat toast and everything was done just right. Good coffee too! Looking over the other reviews it sounds like I'd better try the shrimp & grits. I'll be back!

Overall I have had a pretty good experience here. Mostly lunches and breakfast a couple of times. Food is good, served at temperature and generally creative and tasty. Knocking a few stars as the service seems to have deteriorated significantly. Can't rate the food from our latest visit as we never did get served! Seated at the counter, had to request menus. No problem. Had to request someone to take our drink order - slightly annoying but not huge. Watched at least three parties that came in after us have their orders taken AND at least one delivered. Asked if we could place an order and were told "I am not your server but I will let her know" We left. Try upping the game just a bit and we'll return for another try ourselves.

I ate here this morning and was a bit disappointed in the quality and service. I'm vegetarian and specifically asked for veggie sausage in my Francesca scramble. When i received my food i took a bite and immediately knew it was NOT veggie. The restaurant is so dark that even trying to look at it beforehand was impossible to tell. I sent the food back and little apology was given; although i think i handled the situation pretty well without freaking out like a regular person would. Overall the eggs were slimy, toast was buttered without asking (lactose intolerant), and hashbrowns were freezer burnt.....but hey, its a bar. Would i come back here? No, no i dont think so.

We went here because I was on a mission for some good chicken fried steak and the reviews for the chicken fried steak were good. I was NOT disappointed. This down home cooking made from scratch chicken fried steak won't disappoint you. My husband had the ham and cheddar scramble and loved it. The ONLY reason I am giving a 4 star instead of 5 star is because we were the third table to sit down and after we ordered the place was completely packed within 20 minutes and we were the last ones to get our food which took over an hour.

Going enroute to the yelp elite event, this little diner's bright orange and yellow outdoor lighting caught our eyeballs amongst the industrial building around the little place. inside is cozy with lots of booths and bar seating, but we grabbed seating outdoors to dine. For such a small out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere kinda place they serve lots of goodies! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The absolute best part is that they offer creative variety and its all housemade! Butternut squash tacos, veggie fried steak sounded amazing. i settled with some housemade hummus and no-mayo coleslaw which was nicely light and crispy! Great stop if you want some good grub in an easy going joint!

Mariam is a great server. The happy hour grub is decent, fairly priced, and plentiful. It's got a cool, throw back dinner vib with an excellent sound track that doesn't get in the way of conversation.

Come here to drink up some courage to face the hordes in Costco! Love a brunch/lunch at Hudson whenever I'm down in SODO. As a person with an egg allergy, I genuinely appreciate a brunch menu that offers lots of non-egg choices. Shrimp and grits, chicken fried steak, and biscuits and gravy are all fantastic! Also, if you've never had a patty melt for breakfast, now is your chance. #noregrets Tasty breakfast cocktails such as the MANmosa - are highly recommended. If you love a good classic diner, roadhouse, or greasy spoon - this place is definitely the UPGRADE to that. **pours one out for the Miss Albany Diner ** Not recommended for vegans or dieters, this is a place to come for a calorie splurge, covered in gravy.

Dependability GOODNESS!!!! I have been meaning to write this review for a bit, (I have been several times). Great FOOD!!! Great SERVICE!!! This place is SOLID!!! Fabulous GROWN UP SPOT!! My girlfriend and I used to come here all the time, and loved everything. We would get a couple of greyhounds and screwdrivers and share a basket of cheesy-fries. I don't know if there staffing changed dramatically.... but whenever we go now, they basically put us through an interrogation to make sure we are of age. I get it..... but we were regulars and in our late twenties. By the time we would get our drinks, they seemed watered down. Eventually we just stopped going because we felt for the money, we could find better service somewhere else. Its to bad, because we love the food! We miss you guys, but it just wasn't worth the drive anymore.

This place is pretty darn sweet! Small with a biker/bad @ss feel and some of the best customer service I've had in a while. I ordered the Breakfast Tacos with a side of Ranchero sauce as recommended by our server and the BF ordered the Country Fried Steak with a Bloody Mary. The Breakfast Taco is a lovely mash up of scrambled eggs, seasoned sausage and chedda rolled in a crisp flour tortilla topped with sour cream and green onions. I smothered the tacos with the house made ranchero sauce. I paired each bite with their super crispy hash browns and savored every bite. So good!! The BF's Bloody Mary was served with a side of PBR. Aaaa-Maz-ING!!! The second best Bloody Mary to date! (Suggest drinking the Bloody Mary half down and pouring the PBR in to add a little fizz to your cocktail.) the chicken fried steak was massive in size and topped with white gravy. The chicken fried steak was crispy and fillMy only complaint is that I would have loved to have more gravy. The country biscuit was incredible....again more gravy would have made it that much better. All around great brunch spot!!! Oh and brunch is served till 3pm!!

Good Lord, this place rocks! Why you ask? 1) Food 2) Drink 3) Service 1) Food, aka Heaven In Your Mouth Dish- cheese fries Think of the most tasty cheese sauce you can imagine. Got it? Okay, now make it twice as good in your mind. This is the cheese sauce on the cheese fries. It's not just melted cheese (which I am totally cool with), it's some magic that really pops with the fries and bacon. I got a dish to "share." Buwahaha, I think my friend had like 3 fries. Also, this puppy is on happy hour special, so its delicious for not so expensive. Dish- Brisket sandwich GO BUY THIS NOW. Stop reading, and go buy this sandwich. This is the best sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. No joke, ENTIRE life. The brisket was perfectly flavored, and the balance of taste and texture was off the charts. I was stuffed to the gills (it was a big sandwich, and eating most of the cheese fries myself didn't help), but I kept nomming because every last bite was full of flavor. 2) Drink They had some really fun and unique selections, especially their berry cider. I like seeing things that I don't normally see at a bar, and this would be a great place to experiment. 3) Service Awesome. The server made great suggestions, and she balanced that perfect line of being helpful and present, but not there all the time and annoying. Our water was always filled, and we never wanted for beverages. I cannot wait to go back here; great food, great experience, great service, all within some very cute decor.

Damn fine breakfast, fun staff and great atmosphere. And PATIO. YES PATIO. And best of all, for those looking for an adult (but not 'adult') place to nurse that hangover and/or just sit and sip a bloody mary without feeling any tiny eyes spying on you, this is a 21 and over only joint. Hey, I have kids and there's times I wish I could go there with her, but overall, something about this place feels even better knowing it's a bunch of grown-ass adults eating HUGE plates of food (I did indeed get the chicken fried steak) and sipping a 'hair of the dog' drink most weekend mornings. I really like how laid back it is, I find the atmosphere to be slightly better than the food but the food itself was definitely no Denny's type breakfast.

"Shrimp and Cheesy Grits," out of this world amazing. "Bloody Mary," has a strong kick and flavorful , best in Seattle. So, why did this #restaurant #frenchtoast failed? We all know the #French for their love of butter, but after being deepfried someone decided to out a scoop of butter on top. It was soaked in oil once you press on it. I think a tablespoon would not be to exaggerating for the amount of grease collected from 3-slices. Customer services definitely failed. I've been here for 45 min, even done eating, yet no one offer to refill my water, and I have to request for a set of silverware after the food was delievered. The staffs seem uncoordinated and lack of attention to details because there are a lot of warm bodies and conversation floating around. It may not be fair becuse I am here around 12:30 PM and they maybe tired. I will come back and give them another chance and update my next review. The coffee is good. I'm Pre funking for breakfast tomorrow morning with a late night watermelon wheat. I just moved to west Seattle, so I'm having fun exploring all the nearby eateries. Already, the service is great, laid back atmosphere, the ambiance is a hybrid between old school diner and modern hipster. If that's a thing. I can't wait until morning! See ya at 7am Hudson.

SO. MANY. FLIES!! Despite me loving this place for years (awesome homemade biscuits and great food) the sheer amount of fruit flies (tiny gnats) buzzing around you and your food and table CONSTANTLY is very very off-putting and bespeaks garbage/sanitation/cleanliness issues. Normal restaurants don't have this. Ever left bananas or under-sink garbage I your kitchen too long? Yeah, THAT. Except this is a restaurant. So....Yuk. If they'd fix this, they'd be 4.5 stars no problem.

This place was off the charts good. Had the brisket omelet and it's easily two meals (unless you're training for a body building or iron man competition). Comes topped with french friend onions, sour cream, green onions and is served with hash browns and toast. Their bloody mary's are peppery goodness and come with a small beer chaser. There's always a decent wait on the weekend, but they have coffee you can help yourself to, to stave of the caffeine headache; totally worth it though, because the service is great, servers are friendly and the food is downright amazing.

Second time I've been here and it was just as good as the first. First time I got the French Toast and absolutely loved it - so much that I randomly have cravings. I always told the wife about this place and finally was able to take her here. Can you guess what I got? Wait, did you say French Toast? You bet your ass I got the French Toast, and it was damn good. Overall this place is rather cozy and divey, which I like, but it's not for everyone. It gets good good and packed on the weekends for brunch, so get here quick. Someone said before 11:30, which I think is fairly accurate. The only thing I don't like is the lack of parking, but the food is well worth the wait. I'll definitely be coming back again and again. Love me some Hudson and you should too!

If you're in the Georgetown/ Industrial District you have got to check this place out. It exceeded expectations!!! Great crowd-great atmosphere! Everything about it felt so right.. Kind of like you knew the staff AND the customers! I recommend sitting at the bar! I can see this becoming a regular occurrence for us!

  • Julie G.

I've been meaning to check Hudson out for a long time. If you're headed to Georgetown from North Seattle you've probably passed it. I met up with a group of friends, and first tried the north entrance, which isn't wheelchair accessible (there should be a sign here). We were pointed around the building, where there is an *almost* accessible entrance. Someone in a manual chair can pop up (or be popped up), but I'm not sure how well a powerchair chair would do. I think a small ramp could be added to fix this, but I was focused on hanging with my friends and not being an access consultant for the night. Many of the dishes on the menu were sinful (chicken fried steak, deconstructed pot pie, a great BLT). I opted for chicken strips and a salad. I believe the strips are house made (not just fried up after being removed from. Box). There were juicy with perfectly crunchy breading, quite tasty! The salad was crisp and pared well with the strips. Hudson offers cider from the Seattle Cider Co. (In a can) - they had both Dry & Sweet when we were there. Some of my friends were headed to a indoor soccer match at nearby Arena Sports, and it looks like several other parties had already been there. Good location for that, or for those who found out that Seattle Cider isn't open on Mondays. I really enjoyed Hudson, and will most likely be back soon! :)

Honestly the best brunch I've had in Seattle... and it's totally divey! Hudson is hidden down in the industrial district south of the stadiums. It's mostly a bar vibe (21 over only) and I haven't tried dinner (though now I want to!) The brunch was fabulous -- great, hearty menu with amazing food (and my favorite hashbrowns in the city). Cocktail list is terrific -- the grapefruit mimosa was perfect (and they have a manmosa with vodka too) It can get really crowded so head down early!

  • Aimee K.

Yeah, so you know how you think that because a 4 star place isn't in Ballard or Capitol Hill, that it can't possibly be crowded at 10 am on a Saturday? Well, I was one of those ignorant people who ended up shocked at just how many people wait and wait for one of the handful of tables that line the 3 walls of windows or a stool around the U shaped bar. Sign your name, seating preference and party size on the clip board, grab a cup of coffee and wait for the magic to happen. We waited for over 30 minutes and soon learned why. The food: Awesome! Both people on either side of us ordered the brisket omelette which was the reason we headed here today. Luckily, we had the presence of mind to order just one to split. They will charge you $2 to split and if you pay for an extra side you can both get a side with your half omelette. Their brisket is so good I'm planning a trip back already to try the dinner show in which the brisket plays a solo lead. It's perfectly seasoned with red wine and tender soft. The hash browns have some cayenne added for kick and are crispy flat rather than soft centered - also really good. The wheat bread is pretty much what it sounds like. Just sliced bread to eat with your eggs to make them more filling, meet your calorie quota or just feel like you're getting some fiber. With tax, tip and our two cups of coffee, we walked out of there $25 lighter, without leftovers but perfectly satisfied without food coma heaviness. The ambience: Down the much less frenetically trafficked Marginal Way in weekend mode, the mood is industrial-barren and tourist-free. I'd be surprised if this weren't a locals only joint. And boy is it crowded full of them. You'll be jostling for room to wait with a dozen others. I only saw the line die down for ten minutes during our stay before the "lobby" filled again to bursting. Checking my phone we were in that building for a total of two hours, waiting in line, waiting to get our order taken, waiting for food and waiting for the check. They do things at a very easy pace here. Don't come here feeling rushed and you'll enjoy what they do here that much more. Worth it. Defnitely worth it.

Dodging post-Mariners game traffic on Wednesday paid off, enabling me to further my quest for the best Steak Salad in Seattle. Hudson's effort is a serious contender, with a generous serving of meat, and a wonderful balance of crunch provided by both croutons and crispy onion rings.

I ordered the chicken fried steak, but couldn't bring myself to eat more than 2 bites. The steak might have been salvageable, but the gravy was like nothing i had encountered before and not in a good way. My husband ordered the pancakes, which were amazing! Unfortunately they heaped the eggs, and really undercooked fatty bacon that looked like it had been boiled on top of them. Still they were the only thing that saved this place. I will not come here again.

This place was pretty great. My friends wanted to grab some brunch and suggested Hudson's. It's a small establishment and there was a good-sized wait list, but overall, it wasn't too terrible. They offer bar seating as well as table and booth seating and we didn't have a preference, so we were seated at a booth. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits while others at the table ordered the Huevos Rancheros, Chicken Fried Steak, and French Toast. Luckily, I was able to get a bite of everything and it was all really tasty. The Chicken Fried Steak was crispy and juicy and well-seasoned. The French Toast was crunchy on the outside and it was fun to eat, though it was a bit dry on the inside. The Huevos Rancheros was satisfying and hearty; it had good flavor and the fried tortillas remained crunchy throughout our meal. My Shrimp and Grits were delicious. The grits were cheesy and the shrimp were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I asked for my eggs to be poached, which I popped over my grits, and it made for a great combo. The biscuit was flaky too and I had no problem finishing my entire dish. To wash it all down, I ordered the Manmosa (grapefuit juice, vodka, and a splash of bubbly), and boy, was it refreshing (and strong). The service was friendly but my only hesitation was the amount of time it took to get our food. The Manmosa kept me busy but if I had been starving, or hadn't been drinking, the 40 minute wait for food might have been difficult.

Wonderful food and excellent service. Me and my girlfriends were in town for a conference and found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. Well we are happy we did. We all had the BELT sandwich which is a BLT with a fried egg..yummy to our tummies!!!

  • Chris B.

Nice place, alright food. This place seems to subsist on selling mimosas and bloody marys to hung over yuppies and hipsters. I got the chicken fried steak and it looked like it was enormous but it was all breading there was a tiny puck of pretty delicious meat inside. My buddy ordered the same thing and it was about half the size of mine, weird. It was seasoned really well, a little spicy for CFS, but still pretty good. The side of hashbrowns had a funny flavor, like... plastic or something. The home made, buttermilk biscuit was really good. The place was CROWDED; a young, hip alcoholic crowd who like to start drinking before 11am and call it breakfast by washing it down with a half order biscuit and gravy. The place has a cool vibe with dark walls and a central bar and really big old fashioned windows. Unfortunately, the view out of those windows is the heart of the gloomy, tired industrial area. I don't think I would go back, honestly.

Prepare for a loooong wait! Got here at 10 to put my name down for a party of 5. Waited for about 25 minutes before we got seated and then another 30 minutes before we got our food!!. By the time we got our food,we were scarfing it down in silence!! The nice thing is that free coffee is provided to hold you over while you wait for a table. The brisket omelette was an amazing plate to start the day with! Tender pieces of shredded beef, wheat bread, and hash brown.. Definitely weren't skimpy on their portion. I felt like I was eating for two!

um.. have you heard of something called the manmosa? so let me just tell you it is on another level. i could drink those all day and just be drunk. such a good morning cocktail. i ended up getting the french toast that was so buttery on the outside .. letting all that syrup soak into the french toast was ridiculous. it was soo good. bacon could have been cooked a little more because they were a bit limp but over all i was very excited about the food. bf had the chicken fried steak that was super crunch and delicious. had a nice flavoring to it and let me tell you, wouldn't mind coming back. this has got to be a staple for brunch on the weekends. wait could take awhile so just make sure you give it some time. the worst part about the place was the time it took to get our food i'm pretty sure we waited a good 30-40 minutes? (longer than us actually waiting for the table) i mean my friends and i pretty much planned a trip to vegas and the apple cup.. geez. good thing i was tipsy happy or else i would have been complaining.. you know me :/ anyways, besides the wait, this place is definitely a winner.

This is a off the beaten path restaurant. But the food is amazing lots of good breakfast choices definitely worth the out of the way drive to eat here. Only word of caution is there is normally a little bit of a wait to get in the door come in small groups 4 at the most to get in quicker.

Met the owner at a motorcycle show and asked him for a restaurant recommendation based on him wearing a shirt with one of my favorite places in my hometown (Fuel Café in Milwaukee, WI). He gave me his card w/the places he owns, similar to my hometown favorite!... unfortunately I got this info the day before leaving so I could only get to Hudson on my way to the airport in the morning (I'm not a huge breakfast person). I was staying downtown and this was a great stop enroute to said airport so that was nice. It's at the edge of an industrial area, so lots of workers when I arrived. Place is small and busy with only one waitress, she did her best but service was slow. It was fine, I had time and loved the 80's tunes they were playing. I went with the Lincoln Avenue potatoes, an interesting mix of potatoes, apples and cheese. It was good and filling, cheese so-so (but hey, I'm from Wisconsin... fussy about my cheese!). Would have loved to come back for lunch or dinner, menus look great. Nice diner vibe, better than most stops on the way to the airport!

We visited Hudson last night. It was our first time, but it will not be our last time. First, my lime margarita was outstanding. It was obvious that they didn't use commercial mix. It tasted fresh and limey, not bitter or salty. When our food orders came, the portions were HUGE! I had the brisket with mashers and green beans. It was out of this world! They served 2 generous portions of meat that was fork tender and flavorful, not over spiced, and covered with onion. The green beans were garden fresh, not warmed over canned. But, oh those mashers! They weren't whipped, they were mashed, with small potato pieces in them. They were perfect! Seriously, I could have ordered another serving! The food was so good that I cleaned my plate! If you want a delicious dinner and large portions at a reasonable price, Hudson is the place to go! Oh, and thank you for not having a TV! :)

We went to the Gergetown Carnival yesterday to check out the music and drink our favorite beers from Georgetown Brewery. We didn't eat at the carnival but instead decided to stop at the Hudson for a bite. Hands down, they have the best beef brisket sandwich I've ever had. We also ordered the blackened Salmon sandwich and jalapeño avocado dip which were also very good. We're going to need to go back again very soon, I can't stop thinking about that beef brisket sandwich.

I wanted a breakfast burrito, so I yelped it and one of the hits was the Hudson, which I drive past very often and was always curious about. I wish I had just kept passing it by...I got the burrito and coffee, and the coffee was burnt, real nasty. And that's not even the worst! They only had one server working for about 15 parties, and thus the service was terrible. But it wasn't even terrible, it was non-existent! I literally had to hunt he waitress down for anything I needed, she only came to my table of her own accord when she brought me my food, I even had to get up to ask for the check. Very small tip, and I definitely won't be going here again.

I've come for brunch twice since discovering it existed 3 weeks ago. The second time was this past Saturday, around 11am, and it was packed like a can of sardines. There was about an hour wait for a table for 4, but my parents, boyfriend, and I were too busy catching up anyway, so we endured it just fine with a little bit of coffee. When we finally got to sit down, we asked for the steak and eggs, the brisket omelet, a short stack of pancakes, a bowl of grits, and a few Bloody Marys. Everything was delicious and totally worth the long wait. I loved the pancakes -- thick, fluffy, and perfect! Excellent Bloody Marys as well. We will be regulars.

We split the brisket and the Mac and cheese for dinner, and it was amazing! The mac and cheese had a perfect cheese to noodle ratio. The crispy bread on the side was a perfect contrast. The brisket didn't even need a knife, and the mashed potatoes were divines. I want to come back to try their breakfast.

This was my first time exploring the Industrial District of Seattle. When we got there the place was packed! Seating both in the dining area and bar were full. Luckily our wait time was only about 15 minutes. They provided coffee while waiting, which was nice. We sat outside on their back patio. Scenery was cool with urban decor and had that real industrial feel. So far my experience was great! However from the time we were seated, and the time we were even greeted by our server was horrifically long. We also had to wait an insane amount of time to get our water. I'm assuming it was the Saturday morning rush of people wanting brunch. However considering this place is popular, you'd think there would be a few more servers. I ordered the Country Fried Steak, and I was not disappointed. It was delicious, and probably one my favorite Country Fried Steaks I've had. To accompany that I had a manmosa which was delicious! Overall the food and drinks were excellent, just wish the service was a little better. I still rated this place a 4 star because I love brunch, and I took into account how popular this place seemed. But i recommend getting more help on those busy rushes!

So, a few friends and I were trying to find a place near West Seattle that was casual and had a good Sunday brunch. We found it! Although they were very busy, we were greeted with a smile and put on the waiting list. When we were seated we were offered waters and we ordered bloody Mary's. When the bloody Mary's arrived they came with a side of beer, what a treat! The brisket omelette was absolutely delicious and we were all pleased at the portion size and quality of food. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a casual atmosphere with good food. Great Job!

The atmosphere here is that of a dive bar. The smell of stale beer hits you as you walk in. Aside from that, this place ROCKS!! The food is incredible, the prices are reasonable, and the service is with s smile. A great Brunch menu and many local beers on tap. If you haven't been to Hudsons you are missing out.!!

I went here with a friend that is fairly new to the town. We were going to go to a different cafe shop. But ended up at Hudson. Lol. I wasn't all that bummed about it. I am the type of person who loves going to brunch and trying new places. And Hudson was perfect. The staffing was amazing. They were all so sweet and nice. They kept checking up on us and are very sweet about making sure we are doing great. The food at Hudson was AMAZING! the portion size is amazingly huge. My friend and I decided to get two things and share. Which was a great idea because we both got something different and got try different types of food there. A must try is the steak omelette. So good and so much flavor. Very filling. The biscuits and gravy was amazing too! If you're a coffee drinking, you have to try their ice coffee. It's so good!

Wait staff: Very nice, but sometimes forgetful (like putting dressing on the salad when I requested it to be on the side). Food: Sometimes the fries are delicious, sometimes they don't taste like they are cooked all the way through, so I tend to pay more and get a side salad. I always order my burgers here medium rare and have had some come through nice and pink and some come to me without any pink at all (those are returned, which, to their credit, they are nice about). Other sandwiches i have had are decent, but some of them are a bit dry (sorry, can't remember which ones, as I get burgers the vast majority of the time). I don't love paying $20 for an OK burger with a side salad and tax and tip, but I also am not a fan of walking in the rain, so end up here a lot to stay close to my office.

Amazing service complemented by amazing food. Your a fool if you don't try the deep fried French toast. It has forever changed breakfast in my eyes. The pepper vodka bloody Mary was mind blowing!! At first I thought I had walked into a dive restaurant, but Was surprised to find an original concept that worked well with the surrounding area. Definitely going back for more bloodys and French toast!

Came here on a whim with a friend who wanted to meet between downtown and West Seattle. Not too far from either direction. Hung around for happy hour and found a seat quickly. We ordered the chicken skewers, brisket sliders, and a salmon caesar salad (not on happy hour). Food is decent, service is awesome and the atmosphere is too cool for school. Was kind of loud, but we had a nice corner table so it wasn't too hard to hear each other. The only other times I've been here was after the Kube haunted house. Fun times!

I've been to Hudson on previous occasions for weekend brunch and weekday lunch, and each time experienced great food and excellent service. So tonight when a group of friends wanted to get together I suggested Hudson... I figured if they're good for brunch and lunch, dinner must be good too? In general that assumption was accurate. The atmosphere was its usual eclectic self with a mix of blue collar workers and urban hipsters. The food was also spectacular. I had the brisket dinner and others in my group had the mac and cheese, fish 'n chips and shrimp po boy sandwich. Portions were enormous, and everyone was happy, however there was an issue throughout tonights visit. Service! The place was near capacity, and there was only one server/waitress. One! This meant that a good 10+ minutes lapsed between each and every interaction - and sometimes even longer. And we were not the exception. Unless you were actually sitting at the bar, you were held in limbo until the server made it over to your area. This by the way is not the servers fault, its management. The only reasonable and acceptable excuse would be if someone called in sick at the last minute leaving just one person responsible for covering the entire front of house. I love this place, and the food alone would warrant a solid 5 stars, but because of tonights hiccup I'm giving Hudson 4 stars. I'm looking forward to my next visit and would gladly recommend Hudson for brunch, lunch or dinner.

We brought a large group for Sunday brunch and they were very accommodating! Set us up with a big table and brought everyone separate checks- awesome! Our server was super sweet and was on top of the coffee refills. They also let us hang out and that was really appreciated. It is really hard to get good service in a large group, so if you need a place for a group meal- I would recommend Hudson! I arrived late, so got my food to-go. It was perfectly good breakfast food- nothing special, but tasty. I ordered pancakes and was bummed when I got home and there was no maple syrup in the box. So, I had dry pancakes and that was pretty lame. Boo. I'll come back soon and hopefully have some pancakes *with* maple syrup!

FYI-- 21+ establishment. Finally dropped in here last night with my mom after having passed it numerous times driving to the airport. Apparently this place is packed on the weekends, so that can only mean they serve a killer breakfast and I will need to come back. More of a bar feel than a restaurant feel. Here for dinner this time and not packed to the brim, my kind of time. Ordered the brisket sandwich with fries, and it was delicious! If you're not overly hungry you'll have leftovers for sure, portions were big. I'll just say my fiance wasn't complaining when I got home with the box.

We walked in Sat ourselves no one said hello and two girls were working at 5:17 on Thursday may 14th there were 4 tables all with drinks and food and we Sat there for 15 minutes and eventually left it was like we we're invisible no water no menu no greeting but there was eye contact.........not recommended unless you want to burden two waitresses by being thirsty! Sorry we bothered you!

YUM! It is a simple word, isn't it? And yet, it is filled with meaning, just like my experience today at Hudson. Please take note, no kids allowed. Is it wrong, as a mom, to do just a bit of a tap-dance upon learning this? Oh well, I did, with nary a backward glance, ha, ha!. Luckily, Sara was far and away, busily gobbling down French toast at home. Let me begin with the menu! What a fabulously eclectic adventure! My friends chose the "shrimp grits" and the classic "Hudson", both looked and smelled...dare I say...yummy! And, my "huevos rancheros" was delightful. The quiet complexity of the black beans were the perfect canvas for the perfectly done eggs, sultry salsa (no, seriously, this was a flippin' sultry salsa), crunchy tortilla, and queso fresco. Oh, and our server was terrific! The place was PACKED (at 10:30 am, no less) and yet she (I am so sorry, I forgot to ask her name) made us feel as if she was so happy we had happened along the place! How refreshing! Do yourself a favor. Go find this place way out in the hinterlands of Georgetown and eat here! It is not going to be at the speed of Denny's, deal with it because the food and service are over the moon. Come on, you deserve it!

    A) Cheesy grits B) Bloody marys with a beer back C) Non pretentious brunch crowd D) Super friendly service E) HOW HAVE I NOT BEEN HERE BEFORE?! I am kicking myself for not coming here while we STILL LIVED IN SEATTLE. I had to wait til we moved to come here for breakfast, but let me tell you it was worth the effing wait! I had, quite possibly, some of the best cheesy grits I've ever had outside of the south. They were fluffy, not swimming in some weird milk concoction, and I probably could have eaten another bowl of them, had I been given the chance. The bloody mary was absolutely delicious and made me pass out in the car afterwards (this is good). The service was friendly, and remembered our friend (and his wife, who wasn't even with us this time) from another restaurant, even though it had been a long time - that's impressive. All in all, if you're looking to grab a delicious brunch and you're not on the main strip of Georgetown, you should go to Hudson. I KNOW I WILL!

We were searching for a good place to have dinner after watching too much Food Network TV this afternoon. Our consensus was that we needed a great Chicken Fried Steak entree for the meal. After researching a number of possibilities online we decided to give Hudson a try, never having been there before. It proved to be an excellent choice. Hudson is located in an unpretentious spot in an industrial area, where you might not expect to find either the caliber of food or service that we experienced. Both were top notch! The Chicken Fried Steak was obviously not a frozen entree from a wholesale supplier, it was prepared fresh and served on a bed of smashed potatoes, covered with a rich white gravy (which had a nice but not over the top spice bite) and with a side of seasonal vegetables (in our case roasted asparagus). The breading on the steak was nice and crunchy and tasty too. All of the food was delicious, the service was great in a casual, comfortable atmosphere. I will definitely go back to try some of the other menu choices.

The ultimate Bloody Mary place in south Seattle. Damn good food too. The staff is the best. No TVs so you have to talk to each other and interact with the other customers which is awesome.

  • Amanda H.

Disgusting and lazy. I ordered a burger with coleslaw on a day when there were a few other people in the restaurant. I received a burger with fries. I thought no big deal I'll just eat the fries. Ate some of the fries. Half were ice cold. Had to have been sitting out all day and then they tried to stir them into some fresh fried ones. Not only disgusting, but also a health code violation. They brag about making everything fresh. Not so.

If you plan on being Mexican and coming to this restaurant I feel bad for you son, you'll get lot of different things but good customer service won't be one. The lady with short curly hair needs a better attitude. She was rude. I had to practically beg for water and a menu. I wish I could give half a star. Food was OK though.

I've eaten here twice, and enjoyed it both times. My Southern Belle friend LOVES the chicken fried steak. Says it's one of the best ever. I like the atmosphere. It's simple. The patio is cute, though I haven't been there when it was nice enough to sit out there. We'll definitely continue coming to Hudson.

  • Kim L.

Best chicken fried steak in the city, tasted just like it did in Kansas! I've had several other meals here too, all were very good. I really enjoy this place, staff is friendly, the crowd was interesting. From biker types to and old couple having a drink. The interior gets 4 stars, 5 if they had air! There's plenty of off street parking. Also the owner said there will soon be an outdoor seating area, sweet.

A little Portland in your Seattle? So, this is just my little opinion (I am biased being a Portland kid not a Seattle one) but Seattle's breakfast joints suck, at least a little usually, Hudson breaks that problem, good space with awesome, creative food. Only big problem for me is the waitstaff, they are a little to hipster.

    (4)
  • Sara F.

This place tries too hard to be really hip & cool but they are so focused on that they forget they need to have good food & good service first, then try to amp up the hip factor! Went here on Sunday for a late lunch and ordered two simple drinks first off...then proceeded to wait 15-20 minutes for a bloody mary and a gin tom collins!! GRRRRRRRRRR Then waited another 15 minutes or so for super greasy, obviously days old re-heated fries. There was never an apology to explain if they were having staff issues or anything, I just felt like the staff couldn't care less and were more worried about when their smoke brakes would be rather than making sure customers enjoyed themselves. I give them 1 star, (I would make it zero if possible) for lousy service but 1 star because the sandwich I ordered tasted pretty decent. I heard they have po boy sandwiches during the week, wish they had them on the weekend though but given the shitty service I probably won't be going back.

Stopped in today after trying to go to another place that was not at all what their Yelp reviews portrayed. The hummus plate was really good but the brisket sandwich was slap your momma good. Tender brisket, soft yet crisp roll, awesome aioli and topped with crispy onion strings. Genius. Service was fast and the employees were friendly. I would have gone five stars but the fries were not that fantastic.

If you work down in this area you'll know there are only so many places to eat (rough when you're not in the downtown core). So I decided to try Hudson's for a lunch meeting with a friend. I arrived at 11:30 and found a table no problem, but by noon the place was packed and people were definitely waiting. The food was fine - I had a french dip sandwich, which was perfectly servicable, but the ratio of sandwich to bread was a little high. The fries weren't spectacular either, but they weren't overly oily or soggy. Basically it was a perfectly servicable lunch, but nothing to write home about (then why am I here writing the 100th review on Yelp, I dunno, ask again later). My advice - go early, set your expectations appropriately, and you'll be just fine.

After driving by Hudson for years, I finally went here with my wife. She likes going here after work with her work friend. So we hit it up for breakfast on Saturday morning. We timed it right as far as the crowd goes. Right after we sat down a huge crowd of people came through the door. The staff was really great there as well. Served us drinks and then took our order after we were ready. I had a coffee brandy drink that was okay, I think the coffee was a little odd tasting. Then I ordered chicken fried steak with a side of their french toast that is deep fried. It was all super good to me! I will be going back to Hudson to get more food there soon!

Amazing food. Relaxed atmosphere. Great music. Super Friendly service. Get there early, they stop serving at 3pm, and ask for Lynzi's section. Every bite is golden. Bonus: it's not too bright in there, for Sunday morning hangovers.

I havent been back, I just wanted to say: I did have a photo posted of my nasty, greasy, burnt.soggy fries. But apparently it was a "terms of service" infringment. So some people who have no tastebuds and actually like the food at this greasy spoon reported my photo and it was removed. Let me just tell you, if you like BROWN, like POOP brown, french fries, that are soggy, tasteless and burnt, then Hudson is your place to eat my friend. How they burn them and make them soggy in the same step im a little unsure of? Enjoy!!

  • Ninja S.

This part of town is all warehouses, industrial brewing operations, and truckers. The services is, I think, a symptom of everyone just being pleased that someone brought them something to eat and/or drink at all. In the hour and a half I sat here with friendlies, I would have thought that someone would have checked in occasionally, but no. Apart from that, this is moderately decent breakfast whatever if it was served in a recently cleaned garage overlooking the scenic local highway.

The Hudson is great, especially if you don't like kids. Because they aren't allowed, ahahahahaha! Take that you little stinky bastards! Relax, I'm kidding. No I'm not. But I am. Not... I've been here numerous times, mostly when I'm in the need for a get-this-stale-alcohol-taste-out-of-my-mouth recovery brunch. They have great food and drinks (try the Bloody Mary) which have never made me regret going there. The service can be a little slow (not always) but they are so friendly therefore I don't care. Why is everyone in such a hurry anyway? Enjoy the moment, not the future, as I always say. This place has a cool old school vibe, and is very mellow and unpretentious. I will be back many times in the future.

SO sad. I took a friend to The Hudson for lunch a few weeks back. I've been debating this update ever since, but finally decided, in case 'someone' who works there reads it, that it might be worth it. We ate at The Hudson weekly there for a few months and it was always so good, service always friendly, helpful and attentive. So I took my friend, and I ordered a toasted sandwich. And it arrived- NOT toasted. I asked ( politely and understandably) why my sandwich was not toasted, and could it please BE toasted, only to have it pretty much snatched away from me and taken back. When they brought me a new sandwich, the bread was toasted all right, BLACK. BURNT. AWFUL. I did not want to further incur the wrath of the angry server again so I just ate the filling. I've not been back since. Sorry, Hudson, this person's reaction cost you a good-tipping regular who brought many people to your establishment. It could have been so easy just to nicely take my sandwich back, acknowledge that it was not toasted, toasted it correctly and be done with it instead of making myself and my friend feel unwelcome, unvalued and uncomfortable.

This joint will blow your _______ off!!!!! I can't say enough about the biscuits and gravy.....arguably the best B&G Seattle has to offer? I propose that they are in fact the best!! All proposition aside, I've had dinner and brunch here, as well as happy hour, and NEVER been disappointed!

Morning work breakfast at the Hudson. Classis little joint in the heart of the industrial SODO. Everyone ordered a different omelet including mine, the salmon omelet. The service was good. The atmosphere is mellow and relaxed with a nostalgic feeling to it. Enjoyed the apple cyder as well. The toast was bad. I dont know why its even offered because there wasnt anything left from the omelet. I highly recommend the salmon omelet. great flavors and a true Seattle delight. Ill come back. Come hungry.

Good food, I love the variety. The place does get noisy so don't expect an intimate time (especially at lunch). My brother had the fried oysters.... dang those were good! He also had the cheese steak with fries (home cut ++) and my friend had the club sandwich. They both looked great! Myself, since I'm on the chunky side and just resumed my diet had to settle for the Cobb salad which was presented well with blue cheese, bacon, chicken and egg. The only thing lacking was the dressing, don't be chinsey on the dressing! All in all it was a good meal and the only thing holding back the 4th star was the portion to price ratio. I have left there more than once and thought to myself : self, I need more food. Now you know how I got to the chunky (portly) size that I am.

2nd Worst Chicken Fried Steak I'm still trying to find CFS that is anywhere close to what I had in TX growing up. Hudsons is NOT the place. I've only had 1 other CFS that was worse than the awful leather elbow patch they battered and served us as Chicken Fried Steak. We literally couldn't chew the pieces properly no matter how small we cut them and cutting them was a trial too. The batter was drowning in grease and falling off the meat. The meat, gravy, and batter all lacked enough (any?) seasoning. The mashed potatoes were starting to form gluten and getting gluey because the starch was breaking down from too much whipping. The broccoli raab was tasty though. It is a tragedy when the green veggie is the best thing on a plate of CFS.

Hudson is great. My friend and I both had the club sandwich which was very good, not amazing but very good. However, The fries were out of the park! and the burnt Cherry limeaid is a must! great atmosphere, solid food, good help.

One of my new favorite places. Food 4 star, Prices 3 star, Service 4 star, and the best thing NO WAIT on Sunday for brunch at 11am. You must try the shrimp and cheesy grits. Wow! Makes my mouth water thinking about it.

I went back for lunch yesterday & today. I had the BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) sandwich which was served on toasted 8 grain bread, VERY TASTY. Also had the potato and leek soup, which was served hot or cold (i had it hot), It was good as well. Today I tried the french dip sandwich. They roast their own beef for this. It was good but a little skimpy on the amount of beef they use in the sandwich. I really like their coleslaw, very colorful and tasty.

I came home from work on a Saturday and my boyfriend said. "let's go out!" I love impromptu date night! He suggested something in Georgetown, and I remembered that I've been wanting to try Hudson. The atmosphere is right up my alley -- horseshoe bar in the middle, tables around the perimeter, in an old funky warehouse-ish building with high ceilings, gorgeous multi-pane windows, and vintage b & w photos on the walls. The feel is nice but not uptight. BF ordered the brisket, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender and came with veggies and the most delicious mashed potatoes ever. I ordered a special that sounded strange but was highly recommended by the waitress. I nicknamed it "blue collar surf-and-turf" -- flatiron steak and tuna casserole. O. M. G. Soooo delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the casserole was tangy and creamy and had some sort of awesome in it that gave you a little zing in the back of your throat (BF said it was likely jalapeno in some form. I'm still just calling it awesome). Here's where we get to the three stars instead of four. The food warranted at least 4 stars. But at 7:30, they started the karaoke. Now, I love me some karaoke. I love to sing. I'm all over it. But there is a time and a place for everything, and when you're serving real food, the dinner hour is NOT the time for karaoke. Hudson, if you're listening, here's my suggestion: wait until 10:00 to start the karaoke, or lose it entirely. You've got a great thing going, but don't try to be all things to all people. There are many bars in G-town, a good number of casual dining options, and several fairly fancy restaurants. You *have* a bar, but you don't need to *be* a bar, if you know what I mean. IMHO, your perfect niche is that upper middle -- nicer than a bar, but not fancy-schmancy-blow-your-whole-paycheck. There are relatively few of those in the area, so own it and own it well. I look forward to eating here again soon, hopefully without some well-intentioned but tone-deaf woman butchering "Mockingbird" while I eat my dinner.

I positively love the Hudson. I work the night shift and this place has definently earned its place on the list of best places to drink before noon in Seattle. The brisket omelette is positively amazing and the bloody mary's are some of the best in the city. The staff is always extremely friendly and polite and yet they still manage to be fast and accurate. I'm already looking forward to my next trip. If your thinking of going to the 5 Point Cafe I'd really recommend this place instead.

I took my mom & dad here for Father's day brunch and we all thought the food was great. The shrimp & grits I had were so tasty. If they had them on the weekday menu instead of just weekend brunch I would become a regular. My only complaint would be the Bloody Mary. I loved that it came with a beer back, but the drink itself was so strong I only had a couple sips. It looked and tasted like pure seasoning mix. I'll give it another try next time since lots of reviewers mentioned how good it was.

I ordered to-go from this restaurant and it was ready by the time they said it would be; I really appreciate that. They have a 50cent surcharge for the to-go box, which I thought was silly. The staff seemed really nice and there were quite a few patrons in there already at 11:20 having lunch. About the food. I ordered the spicy shrimp po boy with fries. The fries were too greasy for me; however, the sandwich was heavenly. The right amount of spice and fillings. I'd definitely try this place out again.

  • Jenny L.

I had the breakfast tacos and I could not stop eating! My friend had the brisket omelet. Both of us enjoyed our food. Hudson's is a great deal for a great price. My tacos had just enough cheese and the right balance of ingredients. I'm not usually a fan of sour cream, but I will have them in these tacos again! The only disappointment was the Bloody Mary. I like mine just a bit more savory. Our server was great and the food came out fast. I left stuffed and wanting more. I will be back!

Only have gone for breakfast, and I only order one thing because the brisket omelet is too good to not order repeatedly. Its a meal. A large meal. But if you're going to go work out in the cold all day, I think this is the right way to start. Good service and unpretentious surroundings, with moderate prices.

When they opened this place right across the street from where I work, I was really hopeful that there would finally be a decent alternative to the government cafeteria for lunch. I have been sadly disappointed - the prices are high and the food is not great. I've tried it a few times, thinking that the previous disappointments were a fluke, or a new place working out the kinks, but I'm losing hope. The sandwiches are usually dripping with grease, and the fries manage to be both soggy and burnt. I liked the house and cobb salads, but was disgruntled by the price. The service is hit or miss - some days it's friendly, some days cold. There is a scent of hipster in the air - PBR on tap, and it seems that if you come in dressed like an office drone you get less of a welcome. They do have a good selection of taps that rotates frequently, but I can't take advantage of it (the Feds frown on workers coming back from lunch reeking of beer). They've also got a nice U-shaped bar and some cool furniture that looks like it comes from Urban Hardwoods across the way. I really wanted to like this place, and every once in a while I'll go in for an overpriced salad, but it hasn't shaped up to be the lunch spot I was hoping for

I'm a fan of Smarty Pants so I had high hopes for Hudson. Well, the experience was just ok. I'll probably go back to give it another shot, maybe for dinner. I went for Sunday brunch. The service was friendly albeit very slow. I eagerly awaited my Chicken Fried Steak as I am a great fan of this classic diner dish. Well, their CFS is just ok. It's got a nice, seasoned, crispy batter on it but the quality of meat was subpar to what I expected. It wasn't very big or pounded thin enough. It was tough and had a bit too much grissle and they totally skimped on the (grey) gravy. I saw no sign of any sausage bits. I also ordered a side of hash browns and what I got was a soggy, greasy brick of potatoes that had an odd BITTER taste to them, wtf? Anyway, a friend had the CFS for dinner and judging by her pictures of the dish, her gravy (thick white classic gravy) was totally different. I guess the dish varies from cook to cook or brunch to dinner. Sigh... I will give them props for a decent selection of beer.

decent breakfast in georgetown with a very georgetown vibe. i had the lincoln ave. potatoes sans cheese with 2 over medium eggs. the eggs were cooked perfectly, but most of the onions in the potatoes were too raw for my liking and overall it needed some seasoning (thankfully there's a big bottle of hot sauce on every table!). there are a few other gluten-free options but not many. hubby had the deep friend french toast and liked it a lot, but his side of veggie sausage was overcooked, dried out and crumbly. the hash browns are good but a very small portion. the coffee is excellent and the server we had was very friendly, though one of the others seemed like she would rather be somewhere else.

I have seen this place everytime on our way to downtown Seattle and have wanted to stop, so finally checked it out for happy hour. I am becoming a happy hour specialist. There are some really good ones out there and this is one of them. Their sliders were really good, and the cheesy fries were very very good. They have a good deal on MGD draft and well drinks.

Also stopped here after the Two Beers grand opening during my Cross-Country Tour ( KananAcrossAmerica.blogs… ) and I completely agree with Cathy's review of Hudson. This is a pretty unremarkable place despite the friendly service. The lack of A/C during such a hot day was a big minus! Appetizers were okay, but not memorable, I highly recommend the Diet Coke. They do have this funky half-sink in the men's restroom that makes you wonder if the other half is in the women's restroom, we'll never be able to know for sure :(

The server was smacking their gum at the table, and wouldn't let me order french fries because their was 10 min. left of breakfast, even though we were the only new table in the restaurant at the time. We also found hair in our food and the pancakes were not hot when delivered to the table. The server was rude and probably racist.

A buddy of mine who works at Boeing suggested we meet here for a drink one day that I was in South Seattle. I am glad I did. I've been here several times and enjoyed myself ever single time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. My wife even enjoyed it. I don't know what I should tell you to eat because everything was fantastic. If I had to make a suggestion it would be the spicy bloody mary with your breakfast.

Hudson is decent dive bar fare for lunch. If you are in this little nook of south SODO it is one of the few places to get food without going very far, which is nice. Service is friendly, plenty of street parking and a small lot.

I really wanted to like Hudson... in fact, my lunch crew at work all wanted to. We were really excited to try out this place especially since our first trip led us to disappointment when we saw they were closed due to not having hot water. Unfortunately, when we actually ate there, we faced more disappointments. It was busy around the lunch hours so we ended up sitting at the bar... which was fine, except the waitress we had was very inattentive. We sat there waiting to put in our orders, and it seemed quite silly we had to get her attention when she was practically standing there facing us. Food came out in intervals... and when we all finally got out food, my coworker who had ordered a cheeseburger with a veggie substitute told us later he didn't even have mustard or mayo or cheese (?!) on his burger. My spicy shrimp po-boy was decent (it did have a real spicy kick) but not for $11. The others mentioned the food was not bad, just nothing too outstanding. After most of us had finished eating (since we got the food first), one of my coworkers was still working on hers. We got asked twice if we were done (no), and even had our checks given to us before my coworker finished eating. I found that extremely rude when we were waiting on their service to begin with... plus, there was nobody else waiting for a table at that point. Sorry Hudson, you had a cool space and feel but our experience was not worthy for a return.

came here with the wife last week. We have been wanting to come here for quit a while now. sadly it did not live up to its cool looks and name. we ordered beef, chicken and pork, and shrimp to give this place a fair shot. all the food was ok but not very flavorful. i feel that it could have had way better flavors. the prices at happy hour were pretty fair. the wait staff is pretty questionable they seem nice but they dont listen real well. i asked for our check and said explained that we had some where to be she said ok and then went and was lighting candles for about 5 mints till i got up and asked the bartender for our check so we could leave. at this time i dont have and want or desire to return to the hudson

Amazing cobb salad! The food is great and worth the price! It is very small and can be verrry crowded but since my usual lunch hour is @11 I have only experienced the crowd twice. granted the service can be hot and cold depending on who serves you as far as friendliness goes..but I say again..the food is ttttaaasssty! If you are going to spend 10 bucks in Georgetown on lunch don't bother woth Alki Bakery...come squeeze in here. Not the fastest so don't if in a rush.

The food is much improved from when they first opened. The catfish sandwich with cole slaw is highly recommended. However the last time I tried to call in an order they put me on hold and never picked up again. I arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes later to give my order in person and their phone was STILL on hold. Basically someone put the phone down, immediately forgot there was a customer waiting and probably would've left the phone off the hook all day and missed a bunch of business. Of course there was no thank you for alerting them.

Visited for first time today for brunch. Excellent service from everyone, especially the bartender. I had the veggie chicken fried steak. It was excellent. I'll be back.

We needed a breakfast/lunch spot near Beacon Hill and my Georgetown favorite was not open yet, Came into the Hudson and was a little surprised by the inside of the joint. For some reason it looks alot larger as you're whizzing by on East Marginal. It's a U-shaped bar, ringed by several 4-top booths and tables. There were 5 of us and the waitress said we'd have to either squeeze into the booth by the door, or wait for a corner booth to add a chair. OK, well welcome to you too. Lunch menu isn't offered until 11:00 so my always-hungry cousin asked for a single pancake to graze on while we waited to order the rest of our food. He had to ask for it a second time as the waitress rushed past and she said "oh, you want that now?" She brings out two pancakes, which looked wholesome and fluffy, then follows with the rest of our food. Two french dips, a patty melt, a Philly Cheesesteak, and then chicken fried steak and eggs. The meat in the french dips looked the same as what was on my cheesesteak, which was served on a nicely toasted roll, topped with a cheesy sauce, and accompanied by fresh-cut fries. Had to ask a second time for the ranch but I'm glad I waited for it - tasted homemade, thicker than a normal dressing and had a fresh, herby taste. Server forgot to bring the chicken fried steak, but instead brought eggs, toast and hashbrowns. When asked about the CFS, she seemed surprised that it wasn't on the plate she brought. The food was good, but the service was lacking. Does that make it a 2 or 3??

Fantastic Lunch! Thats about all there is too it. I've eaten at this place about 10 times and have yet to have a bad meal. To date I've eaten, The triple decker club sandwich, the hummus plate, the blackened salmon salad / and sandwich, the french dip, the patty melt..and more.. I've also been here for breakfast before and had omelet's and bloody marys, but that was a while ago so its not fresh in my head. Very good breakfast, but I digress, this review is about lunch. Its always crowded in here around noon - 2pm with the lunch crowd because they know whats up. Its smack in the middle of the marginal way business district and people come here from all around for the fantastic diner food. Don't be afraid to pull up a seat at the bar if all of the tables are taken. Its well priced, flat out good food that will send you back to work with a smile on your face. This place gets my highest lunch recommendation. I'll continue to be a regular... Thanks Hudson.

I think this might be my new favorite breakfast place in Seattle. I've been here several times over the last couple of months, and have been consistently impressed. First, the building is cute! Hudson has only opened about two years ago, but the place feels like it's been there forever (in a good way). Second, the food is delicious! It's standard greasy-spoon fair, but minus most of the grease. You'll leave here feeling stuffed, but you won't feel yucky an hour later. The pancakes are properly ginormous, and the biscuits and gravy are the best I've had in Seattle since the demise of the Georgetown Truck-stop. Let me repeat that: Best-Biscuits'n'Gravy-in-Seattle! I've only been here for breakfast, so I can't speak to anything else they do, but as far as breakfast goes, this place is great!

I drove by this place every day for a year to and from work and never thought to stop by as I thought it was just a bar and I never drink and drive. I thought the "eat" on it's sign was just for some half-assed hot dogs and tater tots or something like that. Boy was I wrong. The food here, albeit diner food is some of the best diner food I've ever had. In fact, the Patty Melt here is the absolute best EVER, I dunno if it's the rye bread they use or the meat or cheese but it is just perfect. I had the Philly Cheese Steak just yesterday and although it isn't as good as a TRUE Philly, the steak used is superbly tender and moist, quite a good roll to go with it. They use Cafe Umbria coffee here as well, so it's nice to always get an Americano to go after I'm finished with lunch. The service here is always very friendly and even when it's busy I get my food fast and with a smile. This is one of the only places in town where I do not mind paying more than a Hamilton for a sandwich or burger. It is my Friday lunch spot and I find myself always counting the days not for the weekend, but for an always good Friday lunch!

Went for Sunday brunch, arrived around noon and just missed the rush as most people were just finishing up. It was kind of loud at first but once it emptied out it was pleasant. Bloody Mary's were good and what a selection of drinks! Beware of the hash browns though, as they are spicy. The menu doesn't not mention this but I dug into mine and my mouth got a surprise! I looked at the bottom of my hash browns and there was a thick layer of cayenne pepper! If you like spice you'll like these. They were a bit much for me though. I would go back to try out other items on the menu.

The Hudson keeps it real simple, you could order off the menu with a blindfold on and you couldn't go wrong. A relaxed, down to earth bar that will have you eating and loving foods you never thought you would even try. I never considered myself a catfish or cheesy, shrimp, eggs and grits kinda guy but I cant stay away from these Hudson classics. I have been here several times and tried many different things and have never been disappointed. Patty melts, breakfast burritos, Chicken skewers, a full espresso bar, and PATTY MELTS!!! (oh yeah definitely worth repeating) If you put your pants on one leg at a time then this is the place for you!

Mediocre joints are the worst to review cause you can't be like, "OMG! This place is AWESOME! IT"S COOLER THAN THE FONZ!!!" or "Some guy stabbed me here! I HATE IT!" The Hudson, for me, was just "Eh." The drinks seemed to be good, I tried my friend's gin based something or other, I can't be bothered to remember what it was, and it was good. The staff was very nice and attentive, however I came for the food and that's when things went south. I had a marinated chicken sandwich that tasted like it was marinated in air. Seriously no flavor besides chicken and then there were fries which were fries. I ordered some BBQ sauce to spice things up and even the sauce was bland. Basically the food was bleh. I'm gonna give it one more chance cause I heard breakfast was great but as for lunch and dinner, I pass.

Great chicken-fried steak! Seriously, I love this city but it's impossible to get a good CFS. People around here think CFS is a frozen, breaded hamburger patty that's been deep-fried and slathered with greasy gravy. Untrue, my friends... A good CFS is a cut of decent meat, preferably cube steak, that's been beaten into submission, egged or floured or both, and either fried or deep-fried. THEN you slather it with greasy gravy. Hudson's gravy isn't greasy, it's appropriately thick and tasty and appropriately complements the nice cut of steak that's been tenderized and fried just right to accompany the eggs, potatoes and toast, side of bacon, coffee and OJ that made for a really good breakfast.

This review is based on their Bloody Mary only. It is one of the best around. Not sure what's in it but it looked like it had lots of herbs in the bloody mary mix? It was very flavorful. It came with a chaser of Miler High Life, a HUGE PLUS. I can't wait to go back and have breakfast as every dish came out of the kitchen looked delicious!

Having recently started a new job a mere few blocks from this place, I've had lunch & visited for happy hour. This place serves great drinks, and the food is fine. The prices are easily a few $$ less than you find in "downtown" seattle for a similar menu. The acoustics are horrible - when it is full, you can barely carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to you...but I guess that is part of the charm. My advice: go early for lunch if you want to have a conversation. And parking is funky - you can park across the street inside the fenced area. Well, I did & didn't get towed, anyway! My co-workers like to head here for drinks frequently. I have a feeling I'll become a fan.

The chicken-fried steak is the best I've ever had! This is true, although my husband and I like to split it, and get something else besides. I would feel too much like a glutton eating the whole thing myself. I have only been to Hudson for breakfast, but what a breakfast it is. The coffee is good, the wait staff is lovely, the food is mega-delicious, and the bill is lower than it probably should be. Don't you go there though. I like not waiting for a table.

I've been here about three times now, and the food has always been amazing. First time I went, it was on a Sunday with a party of eight -- no notice, but we got seated pretty much immediately, and the service was prompt, friendly, and all-around excellent, and the food was wonderful for each of us. Definitely a place I go back to when I'm in SoDo.

I'm lucky enough to be within walking distance of the Hudson. When they first opened myself and my coworkers waited awhile to try it because we had heard the prices were a little high. We finally caved one day and tried it and now might be what you would call semi-regulars. I am all about trying new things and have had several of their menu options and have yet to be disappointed. Their BLAT is great and I love their salads - they are HUGE so be prepared. If I were more motivated to get up early I would have definitely tried more of their breakfast options because the 2 I have tried so far have been tasty. Their orange custard french toast was very rich and their breakfast tacos are AMAZING. The only gripe I have is they call themselves a coffee house, but really your options are limited to the basic mocha, americano, latte, etc. I'm not entirely sure what the issue is people have with the seating - the place is small and the seating arrangement works for it. The bar is great if you are by yourself or with someone and the tables are nice if you have a group. I've never had an issue with someone not wanting to find me a table seeing as its a seat yourself place. As long as you have a place to sit and enjoy their food then whats the big deal? The other thing I can't seem to comprehend is the fry issue people seem to have. Their fries are a little greasy (not over the top though), but are hand cut and not smothered in salt like some places. I like my fries on the softer side and thats what you get there and I love that you can actually taste the potato. If you are in the area you definitely need to try it out - even if its just for happy hour. You can beat $1 High Lifes - especially if its warm and you can sit on their patio.

Being on the edge of what I consider to be Georgetown's core eating district, the Hudson is worth a stop. I love it on the weekend in nice weather outside with the dog. Seating can get a bit packed but worth the wait. The menu is simple but has a few items with a twist like a BBQ omelet. You'll either love it or hate it but you gotta try it once. They have the old diner feeling with a total G-town industrial vibe.

When I'm craving shrimp and grits, this is my go-to place. That being said, I've been swayed by the deep fried French toast more than a few times. They also make a really great Bloody Mary. They serve them with a side of Miller High Life, which I just don't quite get. I guess I'm not a fan of the whole beer-tomato juice thing, but looking around the place today at brunch, it seems that lots of people are! Hudson is worth a trip over to Georgetown for sure.

My only complaint about this place is that you can't get the chicken fried steak during lunch. All the food I've had here is really good. Parking can be a hassle, but that's no such a big deal. The chicken fried steak here is the first place in Washington that does it right. Being from Texas, I'm very particular about chicken fried steak. Most places here put sausage gravy on it, and don't batter it right. Hudson has cream gravy and grits. NOM NOM NOM. Awesome.

It's too bad Hudson is located where it is relative to my house, otherwise I'm sure I'd be spending way more time there than I should. So maybe it's a good thing it's located where it is... It's a cozy little pub that has a modest but well-rounded beer selection, and a diverse menu that apparently doesn't fail to please. The light was subdued, and music was at the perfect volume for having a conversation while still picking out what song was playing, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. Some buddies and I met there for dinner and drinks the other night, and had a great meal. I had the daily special Mahi tacos with a side of Spanish rice, which was very tasty and fresh. My companions' dishes were reported to be very nice as well, and everything was very reasonably priced based on the final bill. We were alternately served by the bartender and waitress, who were both very personable and seemed to actually enjoy their work, tag-teaming to take orders, deliver food and drink, and run credit cards. The only drawback was that the washrooms are really one-at-a-time facilities, so if you're in a *hurry* and there's a line, you might have a bit of a wait. Time your bladder accordingly. I'm not sure when I'll get back down there, but I'm definitely making a point of going for breakfast sometime. One of my friends said he and his girlfriend trek down from Licton Springs at least once a month for the breakfast/brunch grub. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the Georgetown area and looking for something a little different than the usual neighborhood suspects, and it was definitely worth the haul across town.

Hudson's chicken fried steak is like nothing else that I've found in the PNW. Being from Texas, I appreciate that, as well as their full bar, wherein they serve a bloody mary the way it was meant to be served, with a cold beer back. Ahh....

We usually hit up Hudson for breakfast/brunch whenever we head up to Seattle. Good diner/greasy spoon food. Good prices. Great service. My hubby had the brisket omelet last time which was delicious. Their bloody marys are made from scratch which is nice and if you love beer, they usually have a few harder to find varieties in addition to the usual suspects. Love this place!

A great greasy spoon small diner. The beers on tap are limited and the food selection is a bit limited but the food they have taste great. I usually get the Portabello Philly and cut fries which are pretty good. I've never gone on the weekend but I'm sure if your just out and about in Georgetown its a great place to visit.

A wonderful place to grab a greasy spoon breakfast. Especially before a Seahawks game. Great blood Mary/Miller HighLife combinations. Yes its a little bit rock and roll/hipster but the service is great and so is the food. I highly recommend it!

To establish context, I first came here after an productivity-intense and mixed day at work, on a gorgeous Thursday summer evening as the sun slowly set, to meet up with a couple friends for a low key happy hour thing. For taking the edge off a day like the one I'd had, Hudson delivered admirably. It was easy to locate--just take 99 out of the city and keep going until you see it on your left. Once you're there, you'll notice--even if you' hadn't read the other reviews that mention it--that it's located directly adjacent to the morgue, a point of interest if not a point of fascination. It's not an especially large place, but considering its location that I'd describe as "tucked away from the hustle bustle of already-remote Georgetown," I don't expect it'll be attracting teeming masses any time soon. It's more of a place to stop off, perhaps after a busy day at work. The large windows allowed the natural light to flood in, which was nice during the sunset hour. In general, I'm a fan of horseshoe-shaped bars (ever since Cheers was big on TV), in order that I needn't stare at a wall of liquor while enjoying libations and bar food. Not that there's anything wrong with a wall of liquor, but there's something about having my back to the rest of an entire room that I find less agreeable than having an open view across a room. At the very least, it makes for much easier people watching. Oh, it bears mentioning that the bar stools at Hudson are immensely superior those awful bordering-on-ass-torture devices they call barstools at Smarty Pants, which shares an owner with Hudson. The bartender on the evening I went was a gregarious fellow, who introduced himself and engaged me in a little chatter once my friends had departed. I like this. He struck the right balance of friendliness such that if I hadn't wanted to converse, he wouldn't have pressed on, but at the same time he was amenable to the sort of idle chatter that one often engages in with a bartender while rounding off the day. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name, except that it was a relatively common name like Chris or Matt or something. I suspect the Hudson staff is small enough, though, that if you go there more than once and sit at the bar, you'll encounter him. Anyway, though. The beer selection wasn't especially large, but still featured a couple brews with which I'd theretofore not been familiar. I love a large tap selection, but, as a bar or restaurant, if you can offer something I've not tried before, then I'm happy with your tap selection. The marketing copy claims Hudson's menu is "southern-inspired," whatever this means, exactly. I don't know about that, but I don't really care one way or the other. I ordered the veggie burger, and I have to say that it was quite satisfying and one of the better veggie burgers I recall having over the last several years, and I'm awarding an extra star for my impression thereof. That's as far as I've ventured into the menu, and being a pescetarian, I don't know how much further I'll be able to venture. I did find it curious that there was so little overlap with Smarty Pants. I guess the two places are spatially local enough that if you really want something like what Smarty Pants offers, you should just go to Smarty Pants, and as such, it's nice that Hudson offers its own distinct menu. If you like the no-nonsense vibe but are looking for a change of pace from another place whose name I've already mentioned too many times in this review, Hudson is likely worthy of your attention.

The fiance and I decided to come here for lunch together during the work-day. The place was busy at lunch time, and the bar had many people drinking their lunches. We picked a corner-ish table and perused the menu. Our waitress, Jaime, was helpful in making out selections; Special of the day (French Dip) for the fiance and the brisket sandwich for me. Sodas were purchased and enjoyed with many a refill provided. Our meals came and we dug in with gusto since the fiance had to be back to work shortly. He proclaimed the French dip to be one of the best he's had and was pleased to find that it came with cheese on it. The brisket sandwich was a MONSTER portion of meat on a french roll, dripping with juices and covered in crispy-fried onions. As I brought the behemoth to my mouth, I questioned my resolve in biting into this massive stack of dripping meat and bread. I steeled myself and bit down on some of the most tender, juicy, flavorful brisket that my tongue has had the pleasure of savoring. Rays from heaven descended, choirs of seraphim sang from above and juice slipped down my hand and attempted to enter my sleeve. It was delicious to say the least. The fries appear to be hand cut and well cooked. Tartar looks and tastes home made. Salad leaves something to be desired. I also love the fact that their staff appears to be significantly female, tatted, pierced and rockabilly style. I recommend and will be going back!

Gag me with a dirty jam covered spoon. We tried it twice. My wife and I tried to get some breakfast last weekend. We got 2 orders of bacon and eggs and a side of biscuits and gravy.. At least the bacon was crisp.. The biscuits and gravy was ICE cold. We told the waitress. The redo was warm, but the biscuit was DRY and the gravy was not gravy anymore. More like think chunks of some meat cube thing and white blobs. Usually, scrambled eggs can't be messed up. NOT HERE. They make unappetizing yellow rubber egg-like scrambled something that I would not eat. the hash browns were great on the first visit a week ago and inspired us to give it another shot. This time the has browns were all greay and not appealing either. We both were left with major gut-bombs, even though we barely ate half of our food. I think it gave my wife the trots... Later, when we drove by and saw it jam packed, I thought "what a bunch of Suckas!" Hudson needs to get their act in gear or it will go down soon

Oh Hudson. We have driven by here several time to and from the airport and were really looking forward to stopping by here to check it out. We finally made it here after the tasting room opening of Two Beer Brewing which is located right around the corner. We arrived into Hudson after a long day in the sun only to find it sticky and hot inside (a bit uncomfortable). After finding a large table near the windows, we decided to give the tap list and menu a try. We ordered a round of beers from the not to impressive tap list and then took a look at the food menu; less than typical bar food in my opinion. We decided on the hummus plate which arrived with pieces of toasted white bread instead of pita triangles. Hm. This really threw us for a loop. Our service was A-OK but I doubt we'll return here again. There just wasn't anything special about this place.

So it was lunchtime on a Saturday and food was needed. Lemieux's was suggested (just outside the SoDo Home Depot, near the Starbucks World Domination Headquarters) but I couldn't find any reviews on the place (it's a hole-in-the-wall diner). Maybe they changed their name or something. Anyhoo, we ended up at Hudson instead, since I'd spied it while zooming past on the 99. Hudson is a cute brick building with a few parking places outside, but there's plenty of parking on 99 and on Hudson Street too. We ended up with the "rock star" parking place right outside the front door. Inside, the restaurant is sort of upmarket diner-y. Damask wall paper, earthy, with a big U-shaped counter/bar in the middle. Because of the arrangement, there is no separate non-bar area therefore no minors - you have to be 21 to go into Hudson. Sorry, parents, but YAY! I really do enjoy adult-only spaces. We ended up sitting at the counter. The crowd seemed to be a cross-section of Seattle, with Boeing engineers, gay boys (us!), career women, military personnel, seniors, etc. The only thing missing were club kids, emos and hipsters (smile). The menu is standard diner/pub fare. Sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. We ended up with the Philly Cheese Steak and a side of au jus (coz that's how we like it, mmmkay?) The service was attentive and quick ... and even though the restaurant was full, the food came out in a reasonable period of time. Verdict? The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. The noise level can get a little high in Hudson with all the hard surfaces, but they get props for being an over 21 place. So final result - 4 stars.

A.O.K, GREAT breakfast, fun servers, kitchen knows what they are doing, Gracias. Cafe Umbria coffee is nice and strong. Like the garage look and feel with the large windows. Decor is darker and modern. Nice music system and tunes. Reminds me of the "Easy Street" crowd up at the junction in W. Seattle (with lower volume music) or some Capitol Hill folks made the trek down to this corner of town. Not super easy to find, but worth it. A nice addition to the edge of an industrial area. I think this is SODO although it is close to Georgetown. THANK YOU FOR NO KIDS, we like our friends kids a lot, but it is a nice break to come here. I like a place that serves bloody mary's and if you are a little hung over you do not have the screeching of little ones running around (and the parents disciplining them, and crying, etc.) It is just too chaotic for us, and we are not accustomed to the high stimulation of young families. Will definitely come back for Happy Hour, I am not crazy about Miller but $1. is a good draw, saw Manny's on tap and looking forward to some. Service was good but slow to check out. Very nice servers though. We suggest you try it out, it is a cool spot and something different.

Great food! Great beer! Great staff! And not only is the coffee barista super cute, she make some (thee?) best lates in town. Brunch is really good on Sundays, could be open a little longer though and the parking is though, but isn't that all over Seattle? It's SO worth it though! This is by far one of the better places in Sodo/Georgetown! Go and eat, drink well and tip well!

I used to be a REALLY BIG FAN of Smarty Pants; I went there practically every weekend for brunch with friends until the service started to slip (employee turnover issues) and the portions seemed to get smaller as the already somewhat inflated prices remained the same. Regardless, I had high hopes for the owner's new place Hudson. Last night I went there with my long-time SP dining companions and now I feel let down twice. The first thing that bummed us out was the fact that their outdoor seating area is so small and that drinks are not allowed out there. I have to assume that because of its placement and openness to the street outside that this area will never be zoned to allow for booze. That's unfortunate, since the windows for the building mostly face west and this place gets a LOT of sun, yet there are no curtains and the windows don't open - I really hope they have AC. As for the food, my vegetarian companion had hoped that (like SP) Hudson could substitute Field Roast on the BLAT, but unfortunately they don't actually have Field Roast, just veggie patties that they substitute on the burgers or for the chicken fried steak. Their menu is small, so there aren't a lot of substantial vegi-friendly options - she opted for the grilled cheese. I enjoyed the creamy, crusty mac & cheese and the accompanying side salad, though I don't understand why it's also served with a wedge of dry toasted bread (no butter?). The dish seemed a bit small for $9.75, so I'm going to hope that they use fancy cheese to justify the cost. Our other diner ordered the tuna salad and found it a smidge too sweet for his taste. I am really glad that they do offer fries as a side for their sandwiches - they looked pretty good. Our server was nice, though at one point I did run out of water for a while. I didn't order any adult beverages but my companions did, so I think the refills for our table slipped her mind for a few minutes. The décor is simple, but welcoming in a sunny way...The seats in the booths were slightly uncomfortable but they are on par with SP and the vibe is slightly preppier, but not entirely unfriendly. I've heard raves about their breakfast, so hopefully a trip back on a weekend morning will raise my opinion from the current state of "meh, it's okay."

Wow I don't know how I forgot about this place! I was in here w/love & my future mom. It was great, the Monte Cristo off the brunch menu was amazing! I like the fact it is a over 21 spot no kids.

The first non-boring mushroom sandwich I've had since the invention of (briefly novel, circa 1997) portabella sandwich. Thank you, Mushroom Po Boy. Yay, flavor! And it's not the same old portabella sandwich that's been the obligatory token veg lunch item everywhere since, well, 1997! I've been once, for lunch, because it's semi-close to work. (Nothing is close to Harbor Island). Good enough that I'd repeat it. The menu doesn't give you any hints that this mostly-standard-American-fare joint delivers much more than oversalted greasy diner food, but it does good versions of old-school stuff.

I drive by this place all the time and it was recomended to me by two palates I trust. Meh is about all I can say. My BF and I went there for breakfast on a Monday and while the place was not full, it took a fairly long time to get the waitress to notice us. I had the breakfast tacos, which were ok but not as yummy as the ones I make at home. My BF had the pulled pork omlet and he enjoyed it. I guess my main complaint was the lack of service. I got my coffee topped off once (before I had drank more than a third of the cup) and then was not asked again until we had already paid our bill and were getting up to leave. The waitress took our empty plates but then left us alone for another 15 minutes before bringing us our bill. If the place was slammed, I would have been more generous, but as it was, the experience does not lead me to recommend the place or return to it myself.

My trusty south end dining partner and I have enjoyed excellent morning meals at Hudson twice now; this place is perched on the edge of heavy rotation in our brunch line-up. On our first visit, my friend was rendered nearly silent by the deliciousness of her French toast, deep-fried after a dip in cinnamon-orange custard. I opted for one of the specials, a bacon and fried egg sandwich which since has become part of the standard menu. It's a messy but mouth-pleasing combination bringing together flavors of breakfast and lunch in each bite. Today, my dining partner and I both went with scrambles from the regular menu...the Francesca (sausage, peppers, parmesan) for her and the Coup (roast chicken, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese) for me. We were both very pleased with our choices, which came with perfectly cooked hashbrowns and our choice of a fantastic homemade biscuit. The biscuits really are a must-try, dense and buttery, excellent with jam. As luck would have it, on both our visits to Hudson we have been served by Jamie, who is just the person to deal with folks who haven't yet had their morning coffee. Cheerful and attentive without being over-bearing, and not one to rush her patrons, she defines great service. One of these days I'll get to Hudson for a non-brunch meal, and in the meantime I'll continue choosing it to start off weekend mornings. PS - Hudson now has their menus posted online at their website!

It took me until yesterday to finally give Hudson a go for lunch, despite its location two blocks away from the parking lot at work. The shrimp po-boy was tasty and one of the best I've had outside the south. The barstools are soft and cushy too. Edit - For everyone who thinks Hudson is in an old morgue building or next door to the "Georgetown Morgue", it's not. The "Georgetown Morgue" is a fictional entity created by KUBE 93 last year for their Halloween haunted house, which was held in the building. The demon statue on top of the building has been covered with tarps, but for whatever reason, the signs have been left up. examiner.com/x-479-Seatt…

House BBQ sauce = disgusting manwuch regurgitation. Thats a major pet peeve. Truly awful sandwich. Hummus came with toasted Baguette slices and canned black olives. Cheap unpalatable and lazy. The food is not good, sorry Hudson, at least your overworked staff seemed really nice.

Unlike Chapel which tries hard and does succeed, Hudson doesn't try much at all but also succeeds - both in different ways. In similarity, both have a connections to a mortuary; Chapel is built inside an old mortuary, and Hudson is next door to the Georgetown mortuary - in fact, they share a common wall. Don't worry, there is no crossover of bad juju. The crowd at Chapel is Capitol Hill sheik and somewhat phony; Husdson is more akin to Georgetown grunge in the cool way Fremont used to be. It's nice, it's relaxing. It's anything goes. I was first impressed by the choice of "well" Vodka - Smirnoff - good enough for me and at $4.50 per cocktail, a bargain. The dinner menu is limited but certainly sufficient. I had a Hangar Steak, perfectly prepared (medium) with blue cheese and sauteed mushrooms - d'lish. My side kick, Bill, had the Macaroni 'N Cheese and it was also very good. Nice amount of garlic in the sauce but not overwhelming. And a side salad included. It really was good, I tried it, I know. For dessert we had a peanut butter cookie. You've got to hand it to a place that has a nice solid cookie available for dessert. Nothing fancy but the perfect amount of sweet to finish of a nice dinner. I highly recommend this place. Just know, the music is loud and it's facing West so the sun comes shining in making it somewhat hot and uncomfortable. Some blinds or an awning would be a welcome addition as would windows that open - they appear to be stuck shut. A new deck is in progress and will probably be complete by the end of this review. And, lastly, as promised, the waitress, MARIAM, was absolutely wonderful as was the bartender (sorry, didn't get her name to include in this review.) Total bill including six drinks, two nice dinners, and a shared cookie - about $60 with tip. Not bad and well worth it . We'll be back! Soon I suspect.

I like this place a lot. Went there with a couple a buds for a late lunch and a couple of beers and ended up staying for happy hour ($1 Millers and $3.50 well drinks). It was comfortable and the staff was great. My buds ordered burgers, which looked great, and I had eaten earlier, stuck to a liquid diet consisting of pints of IPA. I really wanted a shrimp po' boy, but maybe next time. We also agreed that we're coming back for breakfast.

My friend and I went to Hudson's on a Saturday. The food was delicious. We both had the breakfast tacos and we both agreed they were tasty. They had the right mix of eggs and sausage, topped with a spicy sour cream sauce. If you are looking for a lot of eggs, which I wasn't, this isn't your breakfast taco. Also, if you're not a fan of lime juice and cilantro, which I am, you won't like this taco either. I would have given the place 4 stars, but there were some cleanliness issues that got to me. The water cup still had a lipstick mark on it and when I unrolled the napkin to get the fork/knife out, I noticed a stain on the paper napkin. I'll probably go back to check out the deep fried french toast but I'll probably check out the glass first!

Great breakfast. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and it was awesome. Really good homemade sausage gravy. Biscuits are homemade and so delicious. Girlfriend got the Shrimp and Grits and was also quite good. Umbria coffee was good and atmosphere was good. Good beer selection and nice and spicy bloody mary and other cool morning drinks. Will for sure go back anytime we are making a Costco run since it's not far from there.

Call me a regular... I had come to Hudson for brunch a few weeks back and like the rest of reviewers adored the pulled pork omelet! My dining partner also loved his chicken fried steak. The bloody Mary's were a perfect blend of spice, tomato sweetness and lime. We weren't going to be running any marathons after such a hearty meal so we also had a beermosa. OJ and beer! Beer! for breakfast! I came back after work this week and tried the blackend catfish. It was perfectly seasoned and came with grits and greens. It was great to see some fish on a menu in Seattle that wasn't halibut with a side of salmon. I wanted something yummy but not beer to wash down the spice but couldn't decide what to order. My friendly but not overbearing bartender asked what I was thinking. When I told him I was thinking citrus, sparkly not too sweet, surprise me.. he made me up the perfect cocktail. Tart, interesting and cold! What strikes me about Hudson is it seems like it has been there forever yet feels completely fresh. Like a classic diner out of a modern road trip film. I enjoyed the mix of business types and working class folks also the friendly but not phony service. Relaxed but not daft. Real people enjoying honest portions of good food. Headed back soon.

I love Smartypants. One of my absolute favorite places. I wanted to love Hudson. The decor is chic without being pretentious. It's clean and modern and cool. Service was friendly. I really wanted to love it. We went for breakfast, and it was good. Like Smartypants, the menu is carnivore-focused on. The pulled pork omelet was a hit with my other half. I got the 2 egg breakfast and french toast. Good, not great. We'll definitely go back for dinner & booze, to give the place a fair shake. Unfortunately, we probably won't be back on a hot day... Here's the bad news: the deck was tiny and had a small sign saying no alcohol allowed. No booze on deck? No deal. This would have been a 4 star review (that pulled pork omelet was GOOD) but outdoor seating at a bar really should be zoned for drinking. Maybe they have air conditioning? Hmmm....

Went here this past Friday with the boy. I've been very eager to try this place out. Here's what I think so far: 1) the bartender was very friendly, actually went out of his way to get my attention to take my drink order while I was busy running at the mouth. I had beer so I can't speak to whether or not the drinks had enough alcohol. 2) Spicy shrimp appetizer was amazing. Too spicy? Absolutely not. It rocked. Note: I typically do NOT eat shrimp so for me to say it rocked is a really big deal. 3) It was busy but the waitresses were all over it. I can't wait to eat a full meal and/or brunch here!

Oh Hudson, how I wanted to love you so. I love your sister Smarty Pants with all my heart. But you let me down a bit little bro. The atmosphere is nice, reclaimed wood tables, mix and match plates from back in the day, dark sleek horseshoe bar, a small joint. We came in for dinner on a Wednesday, sat at the bar and at one point were the only two people in there. The bartender was great, really attentive and nice. He knew some local history as well. The morgue next door is fake (prepping for the KUBE 93 Haunted House) but across the street is where the real morgue was back in the 30's for immigrants. I got the mac n' cheese which I was really excited about but it was too garlicky and not that impressive. The bf got a sandwich that came with onions even though he ordered it without. He tried to pick them out but it didn't work. They were sorry and gracious about bringing a replacement. I guess I would recommend Hudson as a bar, it has a neighborhood drinking joint vibe, and if you accept the cuisine as "bar food" it's pretty reasonable. So, I'm not going out of my way to go back to you Hudson, if you'd don't see me for a while check your sister, Smarty Pants' house.

I really like the decor of the bar, but if they could PLEASE take down the "Kube 93 Haunted House" Poster that's been up for two plus years, that would be great. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. I think she was bored (it was a slow Tuesday night) but we are attention whores so it works out well. Whatever problems they've had in the kitchen in the past, it's all good now. Hudson's serves my favorite kind of homestyle fries. Oh who am I kidding. I never met a french fry I didn't like. Sliders - awesome. Patty melt on marbled rye? Yum! A friend ordered the cobb salad, which was divine with honey mustard dressing. I hear their breakfast is on point, so we'll be back. Unfortunately it's going to be a while since it's not a kid-friendly environment. :(

Ok, so we tried this place on a busy Friday night ... the poor waitress. She obviously had no help from the back. The bartender had major attitude and made extremely weak drinks! One in our party ordered 2 glasses of wine and they ran out of both white & red. The first glass served was broken and our friend cut her lip. The appetizers were so spicy, they nearly left blisters on your lips. We had to be very patient (again, the poor waitress) as there was only one waitress for the whole place. Very slow service. If you're going to enjoy a beer (only beer) with friends, it's probably not a bad place. Other than that, save a night and go someplace else. I think this place is new so I should give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it will come around sometime.

Any restaurant that opens up right next to a morgue automatically gets at least a three star rating from me for attitude, but this place actually was pretty good. We came around busy lunch time but still got quick and attentive service. The food was great and we even ran into a few friends so it must be pretty cool, right? They are still a little green behind the ears and they are still trying to figure out how everything is going to work, but I think they will grow soon into another outstanding Georgetown restaurant. p.s. someone just told me that was a fake morgue next door, oh well...still kind of cool

Wow, where do I start. Staff are wonderful - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is top notch and am always surprised with their specials. The menu items for all times are great and consistent in quality. The staff are good but not overly hovering nor over friendly. They treat you like a friend. It is 21 and over only, so it makes the atmosphere really nice in terms of clientele. You will have businessmen and dock workers sitting together, enjoying a great meal, drinks and company. A true american gem for Seattle.

I really like Hudson. I love the southern influence on the food. I had the shrimp and grits for breakfast and they were delicious! I would like to go here again for breakfast. As for dinner, I've had the shrimp po boy and the catfish po boy. Both were delicious, although I liked the shrimp better because of the yummy sauce on the sandwich. I tried my boyfriend's Reuben sandwich on the last visit and it was amazing. I've also tried his steak dinner and the meat was good. The real standout to me, though, were the mashed potatoes that came with the steak. This is a good place to get a nice meat and potatoes dinner in a casual atmosphere for a decent price.

Disclaimer: The wifey and I ate there the first weekend it was open, so everything or nothing may be the same once they hit their stride. That's the definition of YMMV, I suppose. The place had a really hipster feel for such a blue-collar area, which was a bit of a cool surprise. The crowd was eclectic, and it felt like most of the customers knew someone who was serving or bartending. I'm betting that'll change as word spreads though. Awesome (and spicy!) Bloody Marys, and my pulled pork omelet was one of the best things I've eaten recently. Wifey had something vegetabley, but since it couldn't hold a candle to my omelet, I didn't really pay attention. They smoke the pork in-house, and our server said they're going to be making as much of their stuff in-house as possible. The prices were a bit more than I thought they'd be ($9.75 for the omelet), but not unreasonable for the quality and service. Parking is on the street or in their small lot. I almost lost my car in the potholes in their parking lot, so I'd recommend the street.

We've only been to Hudson for breakfast, but have been several times. You can't go wrong with the Breakfast Tacos, but we've never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. Coffee is delish. Atmosphere is nice -- very light in there. Not cheap but not overpriced for what you get. We've had to wait for service and our food but only when they are packed, so not out of line. Nice, friendly servers.

Unpretentious, old school place with an abundance of character. Antithesis of fancy. They serve up some good grub and offer a nice selection of their own cocktail creations.

Had breakfast, place has lots of potential and it's nice inside. Service was great and the portions were perfect not too much or too little. The reason for the low stars is because of the flies! I've never been in a place with so many flies especially in October. They were all over and honestly I didn't want to eat any of my fruit.

I kept driving by this place, wondering what it was and why it always seemed busy. Finally, after figuring out it was a restaurant, I thought I'd take a chance and try it. Boy was I glad I did! The vibe is decidedly hipster, yet comfortable. The dinner menu's are very simple on one small page with about 10 choices. it sounds like they plan to change what is offered often. I had the blackened catfish with grits and greens. It was tremendous amounts of flavor, and yes... I even ate my vegetables. At the end of the meal the waitress mentions that for dessert they either have cookies or shots. This is my type of place!

I went to Hudson on Saturday morning just before noon. All of the tables were full, and my friend and I decided to wait for a table. No one approached us to let us know how long the wait would be, or to let us know if there was a waitlist, or to let us know if we could sit at the bar until our table was ready. After fifteen minutes of standing at the door with six other people we decided to just sit at the bar and hope to be served. Once we sat down, the barmaid said, "So? You finally gave in, eh?" like we were supposed to know the protocol. It should be noted that the barmaid was super nice, and did a good job, but it would have been nice to understand how the joint operates. The initial draw to Hudson was that - according to their web site - they served "break-feasts". I'm a big fan of big breakfasts, so I expected a serving as big as my head. I ordered the something "coop" that was roasted chicken tossed with three scrambled eggs, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and goat cheese, and it came with hash browns and an English muffin which I opted for. My friend ordered a different scramble with mushrooms and other veggies. After fifteen minutes we experienced that joyous feeling when others who ordered after you are served before you. Three other customers who ordered after we did were served before us. Finally our food came, and it was luke-warm and dainty. "Break-feast" my ass! I highly doubt that there were three eggs in my dish unless they were using pigeon eggs. Additionally, they mixed up our toast orders and gave my friend the English muffin, and since she ordered a scramble too we weren't sure which one was which. The flavor was fine, though mine was quite skimpy on the goat cheese, let alone all of the other ingredients. The other gnarly thing about Hudson's is that there were a smattering of customers who seemed to think it was still Friday night, and who were getting genuinely drunk. Slamming down their glasses, making rude comments to the barmaid, and just being surly in general, and that isn't the kind of atmosphere I enjoy while eating a meal. I'll also add that the interior of the restaurant was dark, gloomy, cold, and unwelcoming, and that I never had the feeling that I was a valued customer. I don't really know what to say about Hudson, but it won't be the cool place that I take friends visiting Seattle for the first time.

The seating is a bit messed up-- they want you to sit at the counter and they don't want to find a table for you, but if you just go with it and just wait for a table and decide to seat yourself, it's fine. It's a bar so the staff aren't really willing to do a lot of extra restauranty type stuff. That having been said, I love their breakfasts.

Had a good breakfast here. Nothing 'woohoo'-special, but clearly local, a functional interior build out, and located in a restaurant-less industrial desert.

We just tried the Hudson for breakfast this morning and i would have to say the food was great - great, basic breakfast food. Plus, the bloody mary was great. My husband said that his biscuits and gravy were some of the best he's ever had. Great service too. The only thing that prevents me from giving this place 5 stars is that there were a ton of fruit flies circling near the bar. Hmmmm, not sure what that was all about, but then i just read another review where someone here had found a fly in her hashbrowns......

A favorite to stop at on the way down to seatac airport. I get the veggie egg scramble with morningstar sausage. It's healthy and delicious. If you're going for over the top ridiculous the chicken fried steak and grits are a must - wouldn't suggest ordering both at the same time as your stomach my explode with goodness.

My cousins brought me here for dinner. We got the buffalo wing dip for starters. It was great. The beer selection was good. I ordered the Oyster Stew. It was buttered oysters bedded on grits. Talk about mouth watering. I loved it. Oysters were cooked just right and the grits were perfect. The flavor was a light sweet seared oyster with a nice butter sauce. Very nice. I will go and get this again.

Hudson - you are improving, although breakfast and brunch are still your sweet spot. Maybe we will stop by for dinner again and give it a try. But still, the shrimp and grits, with a biscuit, for breakfast, makes us whistle all morning.

My new favorite breakfast spot. They have a pretty standard menu but they do it very well. The goods include the divine BBQ pork omelet, giant crispy slightly charred pancakes, shrimp and grits, Cafe Umbria coffee. Get there early because the place is small and fills up quick.

We had breakfast here Saturday- one waitress-slow service-food was fine but not outstanding by any means. As others have mentioned it's HOT in here! This was 9AM-no open windows and no AC. There were others that had to take off sweaters and shirts. Waitress was very friendly and tried to accomodate but she was alone and the place filled up quickly. I will try it again in cooler weather............

Had a BLT with avocado for lunch. I love mayo, but there was a bit much even for my tastes, so instead of a light lunch I was pretty stuffed. That said, it tasted great. The fries were excellent. Service was good. The space itself is nice and open, and it looks like they're working on a patio for outdoor seating.

A friend highly recommended Hudson for a place to go for breakfast. We were really looking forward to a new breakfast place. We were in the area today in the late afternoon and decided to give lunch a try or hopefully they would still offer items from their breakfast menu. It was not a good experience. The woman who came to our table seemed very uninterested in serving us which continued throughout our time there. My friend ordered the fish sandwich (isn't there something about not ordering fish in a diner?) and found it almost inedible. I had the turkey bacon Swiss sandwich and I thought is was okay but I wouldn't recommend it. The server never returned to check on us so we weren't able to get more soda or the tartar that might have helped the fish. I finished my sandwich but sure wish I had that soda! We waited for the bill and realizing no one was coming to us, I just went to a server to get it. Then I had to wait for someone to take the money. We may go back to try the breakfast but we'll have to wait a while to get the "bad taste" out of our minds. So, my verdict is "NO" to lunch at Hudson.

This place is right on 99 north heading down to downtown seattle, to your right hand. The whole bar's pretty dark if you come at night, but it's pretty nice. If you come here during happy hour it's pretty sweet, $1 draft beer and $6 for 3 sliders, pulled pork, or cheeseburger, or briskets, sooooooooooooo good. Give this place a try, cheap and good food.

Ok beer selection, generally surly service, and I've never been anywhere that rewards loyal customers less than Hudson. They also seem to open and close on their own random schedule. I would have given one star, but I really enjoy their Greek salad and their french fries, so that bumped it up.

Definitely in a shady area of town but I liked the place! Great atmosphere, loud but it is a bar after all. My husband and I both had the espresso steak special. (Damn him for ordering the same thing so I couldn't try something different!) it was awesome! I also ordered a Bloody Mary since they got such rave reviews on here and I love a tasty Bloody, but it was just ok. Overall good place though.

Great place! We stopped in for a quick lunch at Hudson and were quite suprised with a cheerful staff, nice little booth in the window corner, & one of the BEST mushroom swiss burgers in town! Most would never expect such a jewel of an establishment in the middle of industrial hell. I'm so impressed I'm coming back sometime I'm not working to get a drink and explore the menu. Yelp! ya more then.

This was a treasure find! I was looking for a restaurant with good food, affordable, and a nice environment to take a group of people with whom I work out to dinner. From the outside, it looks like a real dive bar in the middle of nowhere (georgetown district). When you enter, there is this great bar that sits like a horseshoe in the center of the place. It has the option of an outside patio. The waitress set up the tables we needed in advance of our arrival which was terrifc. The cocktails are divine. I had Moscow Mule and had several following. And, the food was so good. I recommend the country fried chicken steak. I couldn't eat it all. The service is slim so they are not there every minute like you may want, but it's a small place and easy enough to get their attention when needed. Highly recommend it - as a unique spot in Seattle. i happened to sit by the owner's wife at the bar when I arrived early and she's the one that recommended the Moscow Mule. Delicious!

Found myself stuck in Mariner's traffic headed south past the stadium -- an experience sure to frustrate. So I kept on driving and headed to Hudson in search of an elixir to calm the nerves. I just missed Happy Hour - blame it on the Mariner's traffic - so no $1 cans of Pabst for me. They did have a nice selection on tap however which was perfect on a hot, sunny day. No food this time around for a couple of reasons: 1) Even with the cold beer the temp inside Hudson was on the toasty side and, 2) the music was a touch too loud and I wasn't up for competing over the noise to have a conversation with my partner during dinner. That said, with the big windows, the semi-circular bar and the cozy feel this would seem like a perfect place to settle in over a cocktail on a cool Fall day.

Hudson may be a little out of the way but they do serve some tasty southern inspired food. The minute my husband and I walked in the door our server was attentive and efficient. We received our waters right away and our food arrived not long after we ordered. My husband ordered the Shrimp and Grits and I ordered the the Pancakes with eggs and bacon. The pancakes were huge! They covered my entire plate. I couldn't even finish my breakfast. I had a bite of the Shrimp and Grits and they were delicious. I am definitely ordering that next time I visit.

Been here twice. The first time I ordered some omelet with sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese and veggies. So delicious, and a healthy portion. Second time I ordered the Tuna Melt and again, yummy. I love the atmosphere, and the outside patio looks super cute. I also love how it's right next to the Georgetown Morgue. Whether it's in practice, that's a different story. What topped the cake was both times they played awesome music. James Brown and Island inspired rock? Yes please!

I guess it doesn't help that I am not a huge fan of Southern Food or red meat. But when I went here for lunch recently, i really enjoyed my experience. I like there is outdoor seating and spacious windows - and keeping with the original diner counter is a nice touch as well. The dark interior isn't my favorite color scheme however. Neither here or there, I tried the turkey sandwich - which I mistook for having cranberries and cream cheese not cranberry cream cheese. I ordered the pasta salad instead of fries to have a 'healthier' option. Fries ended up coming with my sandwich, and when I pointed this out, the waitress was super apologetic and immediately changed it - and even gave some of the fries to my friend. I should have kept them, they looked great. In fact, that was my favorite thing about this place - the waitress. Or server, or service assistant - what is the PC term to call - these people of strong resilience in the food industry??? Any way, I liked things like they served limes with the Diet Coke, and offered espresso drinks and cookies - both of which I took to go and really liked the iced coffee I ordered. All in all, I enjoyed my experience, and feel I must try one of their specialties when I return to really experience The Hudson in all its glory.

A great little spot. Tatted up chicks, above average food and Mannys on tap. What more were you looking for?

i happened upon this place tonight, not meaning to eat or drink but instead thought i was walking to a coffee shop. it was a pleasant surprise and i have to say.... chicken strips for the win!!!!! had my first "dark and stormy". not sure what it was supposed to taste like but it tasted like rum and ginger beer and made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

No real deck. Was warm inside although it was a 80+ degree day in Seattle. Prompt service by the bartender for both drinks and food. Had pan seared chicken with grilled vegetables and mashed taters. Excellent! Sort of different - simple decor that hearkens back to the Boeing factory feel of the neighborhood. Not fine dining, but definitely a unique and local feel. I would (and have) go back!

I've passed this place everyday going to work and finally I had a half hour before I had to be at work. We were, in for a nice quick breakfast this morning--and it was fast. I was in and out in less than 1/2hr! Food was pretty good and waitstaff is friendly. The only con--- parking sucks. Other than that, I'll be definitely coming back :)

I love it. My office is in sodo so it's pretty close for me. Chicken fried steak is super yummy. I also live he pulled pork omelet. I like to sit at the bar... Always entertaining to watch the drink making. No kids is a plus too!

Ordered the Sufferin' Succotash, was told it had lima and black beans, corn and other vegetables. What they REALLY served was a rendition of corn salsa with extra firm tofu...only side dish proportion. I was lookiing forward to buttery succotash. The browns were good, the biscuit on the tough side although it WAS made from scratch. I was unimpressed with the brunch offerings, but I'll try it again for dinner some time. Oh, btw, if you get a water glass with old lipstick on the rim, just remember that "it happens sometimes"...so we were told. Beverages only came after we initiated the request. Women's bathroom was out of soap (it's only 10:30am, already out of soap?)

After hearing great reviews from co-workers I had to check this place out. Ended up having a great evening. The food was delicious; from the soup sample, to the trout entree, to the apple crisp pie. I loved every minute of it. We had an entertaining and engaging server and downed a few good draught beers during our time at the Hudson. The one down side - I wished their windows could open, it got kinda hot. None the less, a great new place and I'll definitely be back.

Since The Dude + I were the first customers at Hudson's first weekend brunch ever, it's kinda early to make any blanket statements. But...what we ate, we both really liked, despite (or maybe because of) the proximity of the morgue next door. Gotta love the character of the Georgetown neighborhood! Either the homemade, hand-mixed Bloody Mary or the fresh-squeezed orange juice Mimosa is a great way to get breakfast started. Deep fried french toast is only available on the weekends, and it's worth the wait, fragrant with flavors of cinnamon and orange. If you prefer savory to sweet in the morning, there are plenty of options, many with a nod to southern comfort food. Shrimp and cheesy grits covered in rich gravy won't leave you hungry. Our next visit will involve a tough choice between a pulled pork omelet and biscuits & gravy. We're stoked to have another good breakfast option in the southend and will probably stop in sometime for lunch or dinner, as well, especially since they have Moose Drool on tap (for now, anyway).

after driving by this place many times, i finally got to try it out. i was excited to try out their eats, but was left a little unimpressed. i orderd a green salad with blue cheese dressing, which the server boasted as homemade. unfortunately, homemade also meant no flavor. the dressing lacked the typical "bite" you want from a blue cheese dressing and didn't have much flavor overall. i ordered the brisket which came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. the first few bites were tasty. by the time i was finishing the portion - which was generous, all the gravy/sauce was gone. this left me with a big piece of plain brisket with not much flavor. the saving grace was the apple crisp for dessert. although the portion was a little on the small side, it was tart and sweet with just enough crisp on top. my friend ordered the special - espresso rubbed ribeye and this was AWESOME. made me want steak. thankfully he had some gravy left on his plate, which i used to eat the rest of my brisket. i'd go back, but first impression was a little...meh.

Opens at 7am M-F for breakfast. I had the Francesca Scramble - excellent! Partner had Ham and Cheese Scramble and loved it. Food was fresh and tasty. Very Good!
