Originally the location put me off as it was a nice sunny day and the restaurant is a little dingy. But the food was incredible, the pho was the best I have ever had, well worth a trip - probably better in the evening!

Extremely professional, classy setting. Awesome service. The banh mi Vietnamese chicken sandwich was the best I can remember. The fried banana dessert was 2nd to none. I can't complain about the prices either!

I have actually never been to this restaurant, I alway order from here via Bite Squad. I normally get the vegetarian pho! Which is delicious. Today I ventured out and got the vegetarian fried rice, also delicious. They have a lot of vegetarian options---which I love as a vegetarian. I order from here maybe 4 times a month and have never been let down. They are fast, food is good, good prices.

Let me take you back, to about 4 months ago (April 2015). I lived close to the establishment, and was always fond of checking out new local places to eat. I thoroughly indulged on my appetizer, four Fresh Tofu Veggie Spring Rolls. The inside of the roll had a fried piece of crunchy "wonton" like bit which was absolutely delicious, accompanied by a peanut dipping sauce. I was so excited to try my dinner, Lemongrass Tofu Vermicelli. I tried a few bites, noting the developed flavors and textures when my fork pulled up a long black hair that was disguised amongst the noodles. I was horrified and felt terrible asking the server to prepare me another meal, but felt it was a necessary call to action. The server was uninterested in my matter and offered nothing to ease the situation. Now, fast forward to about a week ago. I am a keen believer in offering second chances. This time, instead of ordering food in the dark, dungeonous establishment, I decided to give them my second chance in the comforts of my home. Or so I thought... I went to pick up the food, took a brief look at the Fresh Tofu Veggie Spring Rolls and Lemongrass Tofu Vermicelli. I get home, unwrap the spring rolls, go to take a bite, and realized they are wrapped with beef and shrimp. As a fairly strict vegan, I was horrified that my veggie rolls were seeping with meat, not to mention the thought of purely throwing out the entire order. So, I returned back to the restaurant and asked if they would kindly exchange them for the correct veggie ones that I ordered. I waited and waited for someone to acknowledge my presence, and finally left with the correct rolls. Here's where the story gets worse. I get home for the second time to FINALLY sit down and try to forget about the screw up. I am about to take a bite of my noodles and notice a long chunk of beef hidden under the tofu and vegetables. I just about threw up at the table. That was the final straw, the place clearly lacks any sort of cleanliness in regards to their sanitation and contamination standards. IF YOU ARE VEGAN OR VEGETARIAN, this message is for you. Do not trust what you eat here! I am appalled at how poorly this place presents itself and would caution anyone eating here to check every bite before consuming. Clean your establishment up or get shut down, Green Leaf, cause you sure as hell wouldn't pass if the Health Department made a random stop at your door.

Stumbled upon Green Leaf while walking back from Pike Place Market. Appeared questionable at first (you walk downstairs and turn right down a hallway), but I was pleasantly surprised at how great the food was. Food: Stopped in for a snack, so I only tried the tofu spring rolls and grilled mushroom dish. Both of them were great. Spring rolls were really fresh and crunchy, and the mushrooms came simmered in a tangy sauce. Very refreshing + clean food for a hot day. Service: Attentive & friendly. No complaints! Ambiance: Large + interesting layout. Big wooden chairs & vietnamese decor all around. Good to go with small or large groups. Would definitely go back here to try more of their offerings. Yummy vietnamese food for any dietary preference!

Mediocre. i'm shocked at the high scores. First off, location is weird... you walk in down a hall way, down another hall way, and then you're in the basement of some really dark building that's unfortunately not air conditioned. I wanted pho though no matter what, so I went ahead and ordered that, but not before sharing vegetarian spring rolls with my girlfriend. They were okay. The peanut sauce they're served with is mostly flavorless with only a subtle sweet peanut taste. The rolls themselves aren't bad, but they have a full leaf of basil in each, which just overpowers all of the other flavors, unfortunately. The pho wasn't very good. Mediocre at best. The broth was bland, but fortunately, they give you an array of sauces and some limes to let you do all the work. After a few squirts of sriracha, a hefty dose of lime juice, and some hoisin sauce, I finally got my broth to be pretty tasty. The problem with Green Leaf -- at least my biggest problem -- is the quality of beef. I got the well-done beef pho, and my beef quality was basically zero. The meat looked mangled, and had poor cuts with fat ringed all around them. On top of that, the meat that didn't look a little haggard still tasted a little unusual. I'm pretty sure the meat was frozen... and/or dog. Bleh. I ate a few pieces of meat, my noodles, and the majority of my broth, and then we left. Probably the worst pho I've ever had, though my list isn't very long for them. I'd probably not come back here, just because the beef looked and tasted bleh -- my girlfriend said her chicken was fine though, so I'd just get something with chicken next time I come here... IF I come here again.

I wonder if this Green Leaf is the same as the one in the international district because the hours are different, but I think it's freaking awesome that there is finally a Vietnamese restaurant that stays open until 2am! Not just a Pho shop, but an actually Vietnamese restaurant with all your traditional Vietnamese dish. This is great for those in the middle of the night cravings, I know Chinatown has a numerous amount of places that stay open late, but honestly Vietnamese food is a way healthier option and it's also tastier. The location is kind of hidden in my opinion, not something you would walk past and notice that it's a restaurant because you have to go through some stairs, but it's easy to find if you are looking for it because there is a sign of their name. I usually stick to my grilled pork & eggroll with vermicelli and who get forget about the ever so classic springrolls?!

Went here a couple times during lunch time and for late night. One thing I notice about this place is that it takes FOREVER to get your food. Usually I go get pho because it's fast and quick but not here. Pho is good but not worth $10. This place is in a basement so there is so air ventilation so it gets hot pretty fast. Last time I was here, they took our order before they gave us water. Then one of the waiter gave us someones check with their credit card on accident. We were confused and the waiter ran off so fast we couldn't tell him it wasn't ours.. What if that happened to someone else and they stole the cc?! Yeah.. sketch. Yeah not sure what the hype is about this place.

Atmos: Grand! large, unique and uniform. Gorgeous large wooden chairs and pretty dishes. Service: great! Waiter was attentive the perfect amount - timing of approach and manners were lovely and fantastic. Fresh Spring Rolls: Fun! Yum! Lovely plating. The peanut sauce is light which is a nice change - it doesn't take over the taste of the fresh roll. The texture is wonderfully balanced between chewy, fresh and crispy. Flavor was mostly pork but it didn't take away from the other ingredients. Pho Ga (Chicken Pho): Great! This is chicken pho in beef broth. The flavor was balanced and mild. Chicken was all quality white meat. Not too salty. A little heavy on the onion but wonderfully soaked and flavored so they didn't steel from the main flavor of the soup. You can almost taste notes of garlic in the broth as well. I will be back for sure.

Located in the International District, Green Leaf really lives up to its expectations of being authentic and tasty. From the amazing chicken wings to the seafood pancake, I really appreciate the variety of dishes this place offers. Prices are fair and portions are great. The pho wasn't the best I have ever had, but it's solid. I also liked the pork vermicelli dish. I found there was a lot of street parking near the restaurant, though none directly in front of it. My only critique is that the servers aren't extremely friendly, but they get the job done!

I've come here about a half dozen times in the last 2 months or so, and I have to say, this place is so underrated. The quality of the ingredients, the authenticity of flavor, and the variety of traditional Vietnamese dishes, it just blows me away. Prices are reasonable considering it's in downtown, and the experience is consistently good. The fact that it's 2 blocks from my apartment and it's open till 2am every day is just icing on the cake. I rarely empty my bowl completely of all the broth, but I think I consistently drain my bowls here. It's THAT good. Don't be shy to try all the varieties of noodle soups with unfamiliar names, you just can't go wrong here. The waiters are friendly and prompt. Considering the value, variety, and the hours, Green Leaf gets 5 stars. Edit: on the way out, I had to use the lil' boys' room, and I was reminded of the only negative of this place is the creepy bathroom. Looks like a scene out of a horror movie, where you get attacked by a zombie. Dark, dingy, and there's no partitions for the urinals. The paper towel dispenser does work however.

Green Leaf is a solid Go To Vietnamese restaurant. I have never been disappointed with anything I've ever ordered. I have eaten here with large parties and they've been very accommodating. I always eat at the one in Belltown, but I've heard that the one in the ID is even better. They are always my choice when downtown and am craving Vietnamese.

Went here for dinner tonight with my wife. Honestly I was pretty unimpressed. The ambiance is nice and the service is quick but the food was mediocre at best. I got the Spicy Beef Noodles Soup because it seemed to be popular here. I really didn't like it. The broth itself had no flavor and was just tasting of spice. There were hardly any noodles in it and I literally had to dump in bean sprouts to get some volume. The meat was what I would expect to find in a freeway food court. It all tasted very frozen and processed with no freshness to it whatsoever. I would not want to order this dish again. My wife got the Veg Pho. It was very average. The broth lacked flavor and seasoning. Again skimped on noodles. I think the place is way too over-priced for the quality and quantity of food. I definitely expected more in terms of both. I doubt I would go back here anytime soon. Way better Vietnamese options around belltown and downtown that server much better food are far better prices.

This place is always great! I have definitely had weeks where I go multiple times. THEY SERVE FOOD UNTIL 2 am!!' The bar is super fun. My favorites are the pork and shrimp fresh rolls. The pan fried rice flour cake- OMMMGGG The spring rolls. The grilled ribs with rice, to die for. Pho is always great. The wings are also delicious! Ask sauce.

Four stars-spectacular food, okay ambience, and not so good service. The location was good but getting into the restaurant was inconvenient. You had to go down stairs, turn, go down more stairs, walk through a hallway, turn, and then you entered the restaurant. Ambience-the atmosphere seemed nice but there was loud party music playing. Although, the food was delicious and the best Vietnamese I've had. I got the Fresh Spring Rolls as an appetizer and they were very good. They had a nice crunch and came with a good peanut sauce. For entree, I got the Vermicelli Combo, and it was so delicious. It came with various meats, a delicious sauce, vermicelli, egg roll, and veggies. I highly recommend the Vermicelli Combo. Overall, Green Leaf was pretty good, and the food was just excellent.

Pho is all I care about and that it was open on a Sunday. Both boxes are checked so I was a happy easter. The Thai tea was a little short in the glass but great to have on a hot day. I will be back.

Our friends have raved about this place all night, so we decided to give them a visit. Anyhow we had about 15-20 folks after a business event, but I think someone in our party knew the owners or some of the employees or maybe they just go in here a bunch because we were quickly greeted and sat down. Just to let you know I am not a huge Vietnamese food eater, not that I don't enjoy them, but I would say that are probably not my favorite place to eat. But this place definitely changed my view of Vietnamese food. Everything was fantastic and the food for 15-20 people came out extremely fast and well prepared. I will definitely be back and if you are in the Belltown area you should stop on in and check them out. You won't regret it!

This Vietnamese cave restaurant should take hygiene more seriously. Sam saw a kitchen staff member use the toilet and leave without washing her hands. In CA it's state law to protect your customers' health. How many stars would you deduct knowing this? Why Sam would tell me this info just as my noodle soup with bamboo shoots and boneless duck arrived i don't know! The soup tasted good and the vermicelli noodles were fine. The duck meat was plentiful and served on a side plate along with fried onions and basil. Since our server was a bit bored with his job i would probably give this place a 3.5 stars; may be more since it's open crazy late. But, that blatant toilet behavior has got to be penalized. Please clean up your act and at least pretend to like your customers.

Bun Bo Hue and pho were really solid; delicious spring rolls. I might be short changing this a star. Fair warning that they are not opposed to using really "authentic" protein (I'm pretty adventurous and could not manage to eat the blood or weird pork bits in my BBH).

I found this little jewel during a road trip to Seattle. Delicious fresh spring rolls and beef lop bun (#80). The staff is very friendly, too. They also have an extensive drink menu with local brews.

I love this place. Good ambience, customer service, and food. Very clean with big wooden chairs. I love their spring rolls, pho, vermicelli bowls, and combo plates. The pork chops, fried eggs, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp skewers are good. I would say that the portions are good for pho and the vermicelli bowls. A little pricey, but worth it for the food and experience.

My boyfriend loves this place, the combo vermicelli noodle bowl is his go to. A hearty bowl of noodles served with grilled chicken, beef, pork, a spring roll and some veggies plus a side of dipping sauce. Green Leaf gives you a fair amount of food which is not a bad deal for your money. However, I have not managed to get myself to like it. I find that there too much noodles to meat. And there's never enough dipping sauce which makes it lack major flavor due to all the unseasoned noodles in the dish. But! Yesterday, I did find something that I like. :) can't pronounce its traditional name, but on the menu, it's known as #68 Udon Noodle Soup with Shrimp and Crab meat. Alright! I was so happy I tried something different because the noodle soup was very flavorful and perfect for a cold, rainy day in Seattle. Great flavor, interesting noodle texture, my only complaint again is there seems to be a disproportionate of noodles to meat and the crab meat was also fake. Otherwise, I like the dish and will order it again. Another dish which I find Green Leaf to be above par is the fried spring tools. I could keep eating the little guys for days. When we were there, service was very slow. We had to flag someone down to order and had to flag multiple people down for our check and payment. But, when we served, the waitstaff was very nice. :)

Oh my gosh- so derishous. This place is great. I mean the frosting on the cake is it's open until 2am. So if you're like "Omgosh dude, it's midnight and I'm like totally craving pho, or a freaking awesome vermicelli bowl" then you can just hike here. I have yet to have anything that doesn't taste great here. My only qualm with them to dock off one star is that some dishes are not as well proportioned to guarantee being full like some other dishes. (So if you want to be full and healthy for instance, get the combo vermicelli bowl. If you just get the plate/dish of short ribs, you might not be full even though it's mucho yummy. If you want pho and want to be full, ask for extra noodles.) By the way their warm/ramen-esque soupy noodle bowls are not bad either. On ending on a deserved positive note-- I recommend trying their passion fruit soda too. I only wish they made them taller/bigger. Ambiance is also chic; not bad for a casual date-ish setting. It's like a little gem/oasis in an underground setting (literally).

Found this spot on Yelp after visiting space Needle on a cold Night! Close vicinity from the Needle. Ambience is odd at first cuz you go downstairs and there was hip hop music bumping with The NBA game going on. Everything looks bamboo and lots of seating and a whole bar area with more seating. Any whoo we ordered our usuals Rare Beef Pho, Beef Vermicilli and Spring Rolls and Grilled Beef with rice!! Food was good, beef was tasty and good amount of food for 1 person, the pho was good thick pieces of steak and broth was real nice! Overall I would recommend coming here.

Since visiting Vietnam I have been on the hunt for some green papaya salad. Green Leaf has such high ratings and green papaya salad on the menu so we decided to stop in. The place was packed but they got us seated right away. Although it was a bit hectic with waiters running around they were surprisingly quick. We started with the veggie spring rolls. I am still craving these. They were so good. I loved the extra crunch they added. Then I had the green papaya salad. The flavor was right on, but I was disappointed in the papayas texture. I don't know if it was just that day or if it's always like that their. But it wasn't as crunchy as I had it before. Overall I would recommend the place.

I frequent this Vietnamese pho restaurant located in the heart of Bellevue. I find the broth appetizing with a lime flavor and extra pepper. The portions are good but not as large as other places close by.

Dependable vietnamese restaurant-bar. Food pricing marginally on the higher side. Food quality is good to great, but not amazing. Can't speak to bar/beverage quality, didn't sample the alcoholic options. Ambience: nice chill vibe, will please westerners, older groups, and those seeking Asian-esque kitsch; ethnic South East Asians will be less impressed. Cleanliness & bathroom could use improvement but darkness helps mask this, bathroom could definitely use upgrades / servicing. Service acceptable, but not exceptional. Would return if in the area and in the mood for vietnamese, or just for the ambiance (e.g. hosting westerners). Would probably opt for somewhere else otherwise.

We came here because it was one of the few places nearby still open for dinner at 11pm, which was pretty neat because they offered all the standard Vietnamese selections. The location was a bit weird being in a rather dark basement, but we were eventually able to read the menu and order what we wanted. Everything was pretty on point, from the pho to the vermicelli to the broken rice, so no complaints about the food. Service could probably have been better (maybe it improves during the daytime?)--waitress didn't seem too interested in us other than getting our orders, and we never got much refills on water and the check took forever. But I wouldn't expect much more at such a late hour.

Best pho I have ever had!!!! Their broth has so much succulent flavor and the beef is good quality. As if that wasn't enough, they are open late. Great after the bar meal or dinner.

BEST VIETNAMESE PLACE in Seattle! Fried Pork eggrolls are really really well-fried, crispy outside and creamy inside. Vietnamese pancake (Banh Xeo) is my of my favorite vietnamese dish. Escargot on the stick has very good texture and flavor. Lotus Rootlet salad with grilled shell-on Shrimp: this is a dish that's sooooo delicious, that I'd eat the leftover for breakfast. That good. Banh Bo Hue, the spicy beef noodle soup: slightly thicker noodles, great broth, and pork feet! Shisso leaves are a great addition to the side of veggies, they add so much great flavors to the broth. Fried banana dessert.... time to jump on the treadmill.

Everytime I come to this Green Leaf, I tell myself I'm never coming back again.. and I have been here many times. The dark, dreary basement location with the equally dreary service, it's pretty infuriating. The pho is never piping hot and they never give you enough broth. The rice plates and vermicelli are mediocre and they are up charging you for rice on a rice plate. It doesn't make sense. The spring rolls used to be good, but they seem to be skimping on that as well. Green Leaf needs to seriously step it up because they are giving the original restaurant a bad rap and Queen Anne needs some good asian food. If you gave this place anything above 4 stars, you should have your yelp review privileges banned!

Went back to try their tomato shrimp patty noodle soup based on the Yelp review, and I was very happy. It was very different. Very flavorful, and the broth wasn't heavy at all. I think I would go back and give their other noodle with broth dishes a try, even though that means I would smell like I work in a Chinese restaurant all week after I leave.

How I heard of this place: When I first moved to downtown Seattle back in 2005, I was thrilled at the ease of commute, being able to walk everywhere and have access to everything at my immediate fingertips. This deal was sweetened by having the best Vietnamese restaurant in such close proximity - in the International District. Now, having moved back downtown, this time on the north end of Belltown, I'm thrilled that Green Leaf, too, has made it's way to our neck of the woods. Type of cuisine: Vietnamese. Authentic, aplenty. "The menu is extensive, the food is delicious, the portion sizes are huge and the quality exceeds the price you pay. The spring rolls are certain to satisfy; they're light and refreshing. The pho is great, full of flavor and packed with vegetables. Their vermicelli is my go-to dish, be it stir-fried beef, spicy lemongrass chicken or egg rolls. Tell your friends, but no one else. A great find!" Ambiance: While I haven't had the pleasure of discovering the new space myself, my husband and sister-in-law made their way through the hidden doors of Green Leaf. A Yelp-er draws a pretty good picture of this delightful hole-in-the-wall discovery: "If you don't happen to spot the little sign on Clay, you've missed your chance to enjoy a hole-in-the-wall beaut. It's kind of questionable, the way you enter the restaurant: enter through a side door, walk down a case of janitorial stairs, turn a corner and voila. Alternatively, I suppose you could enter through their actual storefront on 1st. But once you've found this secret alcove of great Vietnamese food at the perfect price, you'll be glad it's hidden so well out of sight. Less visitors, more for you." The original space, however, is intimate, cozy and packs up quickly, so get in early. Seating to the right and left as you enter, kitchen easily accessible at the end of four tables and squished-in chairs, bamboo flair throughout, the smell of chili and soy sauce, sticky rice and lemongrass permeate the space. What I ordered: For our take-away roof-top dinner, enjoying not on the views of Elliott Bay, but also the company of my in-laws, each of us thoroughly enjoyed our generous portions of traditional Vietnamese fare. My mother-in-law selected the Grilled Combo ($13.95) with grilled pork chop, chicken, shrimp and fried egg and a side of brown rice ($1.50). My husband chose the Grilled Pork Chop or Suong Heo ($12.95) with a side of steamed rice ($3). My father-in-law enjoyed the Spicy Lemongrass Shrimp or Tom Xa Ot ($13.95). My sister-in-law partook of her favorite, the Egg Roll & Pork Vermicelli or Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong ($10.95), while they selected the Grilled Chicken or Ga Nuong ($12.95) for little, ol' me. On a return visit, Wednesday, December 18, 2013: My sister was in town and craving Asian food; rightfully so, as we spent much of our afternoon in and around the International District! Rather than traipsing all the way back to Belltown, we decided to enjoy the intimacy of the original Green Leaf. We started with tea all around, and indulged in the Green Papaya Salad ($8.95) or Goi Du Du with Ga Nuong (grilled chicken). Continued with the Bot Chien ($6.95), sweet pickled vegetables alongside the pan-fried flour cakes scrambled with eggs and spring onions. And then shared our two main entrees: the Com Suon Bo ($10.95) or Beef Short Ribs with Rice, and the Com Ga Xa Ot ($9.95), Lemongrass Chicken with Rice. Our meal ended with the bill and three fortune cookies. What I loved: I loved most the sweet fish sauce drizzled over all of the fresh, crunchy vegetables that were served alongside each of our meals. The chicken was flavorful, yet a little too fatty (un-clean) for my taste. The pork was surprisingly tasty with excellent texture and the steamed rice delicious...when dipped in the fish sauce. Why I loved it: It's always the locally owned hole-in-the-walls that offer stellar food at excellent prices and hearty portions that grab my attention, and keep me coming back for more. Cost: Low to average ($8-$15 per entree)

Was in Seattle for the day and spontaneously decided to try to place out for lunch. The ambience is great, place is clean and feels very inviting. I am giving the restaurant a 4 star because most of the stuff we ordered were prepared very well but there was one problem with our papaya salad. The salad came with grilled shrimp and the shrimp was awfully over-cook, to the point where the shrimps were like bricks on a skewer. We let the waitress know and she addressed the issue immediately. Would possibly come here again when in Seattle.

Drinks and full dinner menu until 2 am. Seriously, this is one of the few places in Belltown that serve decent food late at night. Our go-to option after 10pm, the food is decent as well. Some of their non alcoholic drinks are great as well. Try the tamarind soda and the kumquat lemonade. An added bonus, they have a projector, and they show lots of games as well. Don't be put off by the exterior, the place is well managed and clean.

Ask for the Vietnamese coffee hot and then a glass of ice if u want it cold, otherwise tastes like chocolate milk. The pho is pretty damn good here, complex broth. The space is also pretty large with a back bar area.

I am so picky with my pho... And this place has pretty good pho. The only thing I would say is that I'm also picky with my red meat, I like the thicker one and I think they use a thinner red meat. Anyway, their broth is still delicious!!! If I can drink their pho broth, then yeah their pho is good. We have corporate lunches here sometimes and they have good customer service. I also love their fortune cookies, they don't taste bad at all, they taste pretty fresh. Their location is interesting, like a basement, but it is nice and cool and looks like you can throw an underground party down there (lol). I love their bar area (never drank there yet), but saw it and it was a nice set up. Also if they ever change their menu, I'd recommend them adding an egg automatically to their short rib and rice dish, that's what Vietnamese restaurants usually do and I noticed that they didn't do that. Egg was extra $? Lol!

Love this place! Any time I have the slightest cold or unsettled tummy I order their pho. It's a little pricey but worth every penny, oh so good and quick service. You do have to walk down and into a basement to get to it which is a little awkward but don't let it put you off, best food this side of belltown!

The food here is YUMMY! I haven't actually been there and can't comment to the atmosphere/service etc. because we ordered via BiteSquad. However, I really enjoyed the food and the prices were very reasonable. We had some lovely spring rolls (fresh, crunchy, awesomesauce - literally, the peanut sauce was delish), egg rolls, and pho. They packaged the ingredients of the pho separately from the broth so we were able to make our own little soup at home. I will definitely eat there/order the food again.

Still one of my Belltown go-tos. Hidden gem tucked away below street level, but totally worth stopping by. Classic Vietnamese fare done well. Friendly, fast service. Ample seating in a cute setting. Spring rolls are super fresh and a must for summer! Protip: request to sub grilled chicken, which I find is more flavorful than the prawns. Green papaya salad is a refreshing option, complemented with chopped fesh basil, fried shallots and diced peanuts. Grilled chicken is perfectly marinated. Still in love with the combo vermicelli bowl - grilled pork, chicken and sliced egg roll ftw. For texture geeks, this is a dream come true. Plenty of over-rice options - can't go wrong with the spicy lemongrass chicken. For heartier fare, claypot catfish is hearty and well-done. The boneless duck and bamboo noodle soup is great for warming you up as well. Last but not least, don't miss the cute back bar! Tucked away, French Vietnamese throwback charm if you just want to unwind over some cocktails or iced coffee.

    1) Jade is great! Always very nice and helpful, her warm personality and responsiveness will make you feel well-appreciated. 2) The other main allure of this place is the fact that it sells legit, consistent, real restaurant-quality vietnamese food up until 2am. I can't think of any other nice restaurant that does that. And of course, good Vietnamese food. Key dishes are the bbq chicken fried rice, stuffed escargot on lemongrass skewers, pho of course, and you can't go wrong with the bún. OH and i almost forgot libations: the kumquat cocktail is AMAZING. Very sweet and smooth and fruity, with a pickled kumquat plunked right in there. Vibe: A big, dimly lit place. Cozy.

Best Pho in Belltown! The broth is rich, flavorful and not at all greasy (ugh, I can't stand pools of fat floating on top of my broth). I'm not fancy with my pho--I like the rare beef variety and they do it well. They've got all kinds for the more adventurous and tofu with veggie broth for the vegetarians. But it's not just pho--they've got delicious vermicelli bowls, grilled meats, and all kinds of authentic Vietnamese specialties. They've got a full bar, but I come in for lunch and it's usually empty--but I imagine it'd be a fun spot after work.

Love this place! I always get the sandwiches. They yummy and me likey! Have a huge HD projection on the wall and usually have sports in which I love. I know a girl who looks like the female Hulk Hogan mixed with Drew Carey. She is Main thing here. They have soy sauce and napkins here!!! Couldn't believe it, pleasantly surprised! Come here often

Pho is always perfect, noodles cooked well, Lots of meat and really hot, tasty broth. Also love the crunch stick they add to their fresh spring rolls. I like the dipping sauce because it isn't just some thick peanut sauce. Also one of the few viet restaurants that serves a full menu of traditional dishes. I highly suggest going with a group and ordering multiple items for everyone to try. You will come back time and time again! 5 stars when compared to other viet or pho spots around Seattle.

They really tried and I appreciate it a lot, the hostess was graciously nice, and must have ESP 'cause she knew exactly what I wanted. She also admits that pho here just isn't as good as it is in the Bay Area. I give her 5 stars for her service, and as for the interior of the place it's nice and decorative, I felt slightly taken away to a Thai-like bamboo hut with their dim lighting, pretty ambient if you ask me. (Note: I am from the Bay Area, where traditional Asian cuisine is everywhere. San Jose having a Viet Town, with the best Pho joint). The Pho was okay. Wasn't as flavorful as I'm used to. Bun Bo Hue: Not horrible, but it was not Bun Bo Hue. Bun Bo Hue is spicy and in some way herb-like, their broth wasn't spicy at all. My girlfriend was able to drink it and she can't handle anything spicy, even chips or hot wings. To sum it all up, I won't be choosing Vietnamese cuisine when I'm in Washington.

I can't believe how good the spring rolls are! I had steam rice and lemongrass chicken! I'd like to know of a place that tops this spot... because I don't believe it exhists. The gf and I stopped in just after 9, 21+ but no need for drinks... food is made quick and veggies are fresh and crunchy!

What I liked about this place was that it is open LATE! We grabbed dinner here around midnight and it was pretty decent. The ambience is great! Not a lot of people at that time of the day and the people are courteous. Their grilled mushroom was amazing!! The entree I ordered (vermicelli) was not as good as I had expected and the Thai Iced Tea was too concentrated.

Wandering around Belltown and stumbled upon Green Leaf at lunchtime. It's location is a bit sketchy...in the basement of an older building. Wait staff was friendly and service was prompt. We ordered a few dishes and all were solid. Not out of this world amazing but solid. Next time, may try to come around dinner to check out if the atmosphere is better than it was at lunch.

To the woman working tonight in the polka white top: rude, rude, and more rude. Bottom line: eat in when eating here, ordering to go clearly doesn't work here. The food is good, the service sucks. So we've ordered food to go via phone twice and both times they 'couldn't find our order', meaning that person on the phone never processed our phone order and we had to reorder when we arrived to supposedly pick up our food. Annoying, yes. Each time I expected they'd offer some consolation for their multiple errors. Nothing was offered, so no tip for you. Tonight, we thought we'd order online to prevent human error. Unfortunately, this time the system the order goes through was 'down', so AGAIN, I'm sitting in their restaurant waiting for my to go order. SUPER annoying. Annoying because I'm on a time-constraint, annoying because they can't seem to get this right, annoying because this is the third time this has happened. When my order was finally ready, this woman in the polka dot top comes up with an attitude giving me my food. I had asked if they were going to offer some sort of discount or offer free rice or something as this was the THIRD time this has happened. She, with her attitude, said because it's the system's fault she's not going to do anything. And about my previous orders, well, she made it clear she didn't care as that wasn't what happened tonight. So rude. Because I was in a hurry and needed to go, I didn't feel the benefit to argue with her further as she didn't care about providing good customer service. So she took my card, but someone else had to come up to tell her that by ordering through their online system, we had already paid; I didn't know the card was charged because my husband had ordered it and was at home. In the end, we confirmed we had already paid and she tossed my card back at me. What really irks me is her attitude and lack of desire to make my experience better. Regardless of WHY they didn't get our order right THREE times, I was clearly frustrated and they had the opportunity to turn it around. There was no accountability and no customer service. Such a disappointment.

3.5 stars The pho was just ok, although my dinner companions enjoyed their dishes more. I really enjoyed finding this gem down the staircase. It feels like it was a grotto style club back in the sixties. Service was very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I'll try it again and order something different next time.

A friend brought me here last year, I was skeptical at first since the place is underground and you can't really find it. As soon as I walked downstairs and into the place I was instantly WOWED! It's not fancy, but it is definitely a very nicely decorated and designed place. Even has a bar area that has very comfortable seats. The workers are very nice too! Always my go to pho place when I'm in the area since I live too far north now. I always get the steak pho with either fried or fresh spring/veggie/egg rolls. Street parking, sometimes paid depending what time it is. Recommend for a good place to take someone on a date!!

My Seattle friends and Eater.com told me this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle. We ordered takeout which was delicious. We enjoyed a crepe or Vietnamese pancake which is amply filled with shrimp and pork and bean sprouts. I also had a combination vermicelli.

While hitting up Seattle, I had to Yelp where I was going & this place popped up. So even though I come from NYC with a decent amount of Viet restaurants, why not check out what Seattle has to offer? So I had no idea what I wanted to ordered & asked the waiter for his recommendation. I ended up ordering the chicken with veggies with soup noodles. A big bowl of deliciousness for a decent price. Soft rice noodles that you can slurp to your tummy's content. The chicken cutlet was cut - perfectly cooked & meaty. And the full flavor of the broth & addition of the veggies was delicious. Amazing. And definitely one of the better Viet dishes I've had. Green Leaf is pretty spacious & has 2 sections for the bar and restaurant. Great place for groups and families. It's also ideal if you're looking for a place to unwind.

We had taken a long nap.. 30 minute naps never do happen do they. So we woke up quite hungry at 11pm. We were super ecstatic to discover that there was a pho restaurant walking distance, and it was open til 2 am! My bf is not the best with directions, but like a buzzed sheep I followed him. I was also wary because we went down an indoor "shady" narrow staircase to this mysterious underground restaurant. bar? Restaurant AND bar. They have a full bar! So of course we had to take a shot at the nice bar while waiting for the food. The ambience here is quite romantic with the very dark dimness and candles. Definitely only saw other couples when we were there for the late night pho run. I thought the pho was a bit pricy.. But portions are good and apparently I kept raving about the noodles (they were thicker than the usual rice noodles).

Green Leaf is about four blocks from our place, and we have been here half a dozen times now. The setting is nice and spacious, with big chairs and tables. We have tried the pho (which is perfect!), a couple of tofu / veggie dishes, and fried rice (vegetarian and chicken). I prefer the chicken fried rice over the vegetarian version because the chicken version has some sauce/flavor added which makes the rice tastier. The vegetable fried rice is a bit bland in comparison. The service here has always been courteous. This place is open late until 2am on weekends, so is great for a late night drink or take out. They have a nice bar area as well!

Spring rolls were good but the peanut sauce was strange - kind of a clear brown sauce with a few peanuts in it. Mango salad was solid though the fried crunchies on top made it feel less healthy. Vermicelli noodles with chicken and noodles with veggies were also just okay- felt like each dish followed the same formula and had similar flavors. Overall the food was just okay.

The pho broth here is perfect on its own. Add the fixings and you've got an amazing bowl of pho. The combo vermicelli bowl is huge! It has lots of delicious fire-grilled chicken and a small skewer of shrimp. The happy hour is good, with $5 bahn mi sandwiches and $5 shots of Jameson. It's nice to have a full late night menu like this in Belltown.

The food at green leaf in ID is definitely better but the ambiance in Belltown is better. I was surprised to find that it was open after midnight on New Year's Eve and the ambiance was great. They have a much bigger dining area and a bar area. We opted for the bar area which was comfortable/romantic. Small candlelight tables. They were playing loud music which for New Year's Eve was good since we didn't want to go to a club. They also had a projector with the Times Square New Years show playing. It was a nice place to hangout for a couple hours after midnight. I really enjoyed hanging out their with my husband. We got chicken pho but the taste was kind of plain. The broth was definitely not as good as the other green leaf. Once you add some sriracha it's better and it's a big bowl for $10. It would be a nice place to go another late evening. Probably a good place for a date too.

Nice service. Had a combo pho and spring rolls. I personally don't like so much fish balls in pho, but overall it was authentic. Spring rolls were good.

Torn between a 3 and 4 star review. The pho was only so-so. It took a long time the food to come out, probably at least 25 minutes. I was surprised, especially since most pho places serve pho within minutes of ordering. The pho was served at a tepid temperature. I definitely would have preferred piping hot soup instead of something that was room temperature. The broth was savory but one-dimensional. It didn't have the depth and complexity of flavor that one expects with pho. However, it was not bad by any means! And its hours make it incredibly convenient for a late-night meal. I might be back if I need to eat and its late. But if I want pho and its in the middle of the day, I might head somewhere else instead.

This is my co worker and I's go to spot if we want a delicious lunch. Get the lemon grass beef vermicelli noodles dish, it is to die for!! It's huuuuge and oh my goodness so so good. The decor is nice but the location itself is just a little sad cause it's downstairs no windows, kind of dark but the food makes up for that. Love it

I love this place! The staff are super friendly and nice (well it also helps that I know the owner a little bit). The food is awesome. Always fresh, clean, and tasty! My (our) favorite dishes are Banh Xeo, Bun Dac Biet, Com Dac Biet, Banh Canh, Chao Vit, and Bo 7 Mon. If you and another person are super hungry, I definitely recommend the Bo 7 Mon. It's 7 courses of beef dishes, more than enough to make you tap out and ask for the rest of it to go! Hope you enjoy!

Holy giant restaurant, Batman! This is quite the hidden gem. No wonder everyone raves about this restaurant. It's totally huge and awesome! I came by just to grab some food to go with some friends, but we got there a little early and had the chance to sit in the dining room in some cozy chairs as we waited for our food to finish cooking. I was really surprised by this space. It's dimly lit and really hip. Definitely the hippest Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been in. There are two entrances here from the street. You either enter directly into the dining area, or via their side entrance you come down a shirt flight of stairs and enter a hallway that divides the bar from the dining room. There are cute decorations around the room to help divide the space and draw your eyes to various features. I most admired the light fixtures on the ceiling. And though I didn't sit there, spotted a spacious bar with ample room for medium and small-sized groups. And between the bar and dining room there's a little bit of a lounge area with low chairs and glass tables. Above them on the wall there's a large screen TV for catching a game. Kind of a neat perk because there aren't many other bars in the immediate area so this spot is sort of your one-stop shop for cocktails, watching a game, grabbing food to go, or sitting in for a full dining experience. Our food was soon ready so we headed back home to help host a little board game party. The food was packaged well and survived the one mile trip down the road. Even the pho we ordered did a-ok in transit! I absolutely loved it, by the way. It doesn't seem like something that would travel well and it did. We also ordered a number of other dishes and spring rolls for our party of 5. Everything was tasty and gone in the first round. We piled our plates high and loved that even though we were headed home to eat, they still included sauces, napkins, and plastic cutlery. Easy!

Similar to the other reviewers of this location, I too was thrown off by the very strange fact that this is located in the basement of Labor Temple, totally hidden and off the beaten track from any restaurant like it. However, I'm a fan! While the exact abode is unique, the space itself is very large and a vast improvement from its ID location - they have room for ginormous chairs at each of the tables and there are so many more tables. The food is just as good as its ID sibling. The fresh spring rolls of course are my go-to with the wonderful texturally pleasing crispy stick. For the first time here, I tried the Bun Bo Hue, which is as good as everyone claims it to be. My one small complaint is that the beef is too tendony (which may be good for more others and honestly probably more authentic, but still too tendony for me). If I ever crave Vietnamese food, I'd prefer this location over the ID because parking is more accessible (although you'd pay Belltown rates for street parking) and there is a higher likelihood that you'd get a seat.

Open late with amazing food. I ordered the stirfry with rice noodles. Wonderful full flavor. Lots of meat and fresh vegetables. My friend ordered the curry chicken and it was just as tasty. The atmosphere is friendly and helpful. The lighting and decor is nice as well. Would definitely recommend it. :-)

Absolutely loved this place. Lots of seating room with a happy hour/lunch rush lounge area. Extensive menus with many vegetarian options. We had the fresh spring rolls and two kinds of rice noodle soups. The portions are gigantic and will certainly fill you up. I was very impressed with how flavorful the vegetarian broth was. Wait staff is very friendly. I definitely hope to go back for more soon.

I've done take out here and eaten in on several locations as I live pretty close by. I've either gotten the beef pho or the beef stew. The pho especially on take out is lacking in that you get very little meat and the broth is sort of sharp and lacking some richness . The spring rolls are very good though. My main complaint and the one, which lowers the rating for me is that they tried to pass something else as Vietnamese beef stew to me three times now. Vietnamese beef stew is generally a reddish stew with a thin curry like consistency with stew meat, potatoes and carrots primarily. I'm guessing very few people actually order it so when I do they have none ready. So what they do instead of making it or telling me to choose something else is to basically throw pho broth in a bowl with some neck bone meat and try to pass that to me as Bo Kho. I look very south east Asian so I don't know who they are trying to fool here.

Kitchen smoke in the dining area is still an issue after I left a review 3 years ago. I find that they might not have a deep fryer cuz the fried wings come out raw in the bones two times in a row I ordered.

Above average ambience, which meant below average food. The saving grace (and third star) of this place was that the food wasn't too far below average. Came here with some co-workers who were dying for Vietnamese food (that is, pho), but were a little squeamish about the usual, less sanitary places that I normally gravitate towards. I had the bun bo hue, which did include a good bit of pigs blood and a very nicely braised pig knuckle. But the broth was lukewarm, not very spicy, and the noodles lacked the springy but chewy awesomeness that I always look for. The price was a little higher than average, the plates and dishes were a little too nice. It did hit the spot, but I've had so much better.

We're there today and the services good. Just the foods were horrible. Take forever to come out and my duck vermicelli taste nasty so fatty and blank. Our daughter was scare to go inside the restroom. Dirty restroom for good review place. Never go back this restaurant again in my life.

This is my favorite discovery I have made and I have to thank a friend for taking me here. I have walked by the building so many times wondering what seedy restaurant was open in the basement of it. It just never looked appetizing to investigate. Until one day my friend Colin took me there and changed my life. Let me first explain that I am a PHO connoisseur. I love it. And I eat it damn near weekly. I have tried Pho all over this city and this place serves my favorite bowl. #62 on the menu. Grilled Chicken Vegetable Soup with the egg noodles (not rice noodles. Trust me on this) and then served pho-style with the sprouts and cilantro and lime and jalapenos and all that. (You can also get it "dry" with no broth.) Oh.MA.WOOOOOOORRD it is so good! SO GOOD! UNBELIEVABLY GOOD! Those crunchy bits on top...I don't know what they are but they are DAMN DELISH. The garlic in the broth. YES! This bowl will cure what ails ya. I have introduced so many friends to this place and every single one has thanked me profusely afterwards. Great service, beautiful restaurant (once you go down the random stairs to the building basement) and the food is killer. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE! Do it! do it now! Everything and I MEAN EVERYTHING I have tried on their menu has turned out to be STELLAR!

The little sign on the outside will not prepare you for the massive space on the inside. Housed pretty much in a basement this place offers a vast menu of vietnamese options. I went with the salad combo with tofu and was a little jealous of all the huge bowls of noodles that everyone else at my table ended up with but that jealousy faded with each bite as this salad was delicious. It's in close proximity to all the other downtown choices but won't hurt your pocketbook as much as those options. Opt for substance over flair and get your pho on at Green Leaf.

I've been to the Green Leaf in ID, which is a much smaller location. We decided to eat here since we just moved to the area, and this location is much closer. It's a bit hidden, but not too hard to find. I usually get the bun bo hue, but I decided to get the combo pho this time. It was pretty good and satisfied my pho craving. My BF had the braised catfish (his usual) and he really enjoyed it. The portion was also pretty large. This will definitely become our usual spot whenever we're craving yummy Vietnamese food!

I was pleased to find a late-night Vietnamese restaurant. However, at 10:30pm on a Sunday night, it looks more seedy, than unique. The lights were off in the one cavernous area of the restaurant, making it look even shadier. The restrooms here are in separate rooms (women's was in the restaurant - thankfully, and male's was outside of some double doors. The fish sauce with the bun was not the best flavored sauce I've had in town, but was just so-so. The vermicelli noodles themselves were very al dente and not what I was looking for. The service was good, and my water glass was never empty, but it had an odd flavoring to it - maybe cucumber, maybe lime and strawberry..I couldn't put my finger on it. I was also disappointed that the description here on yelp says it offers "Vietnamese, sandwiches" and yet there are no sandwiches on their menu. I would've loved to have had some banh mi.

We were craving Asian food and needed a place to go for late night eats. Rather going to Chinatown for greasy chinese food, we yelped and came across this gem. YUM YUM YUM. Open late just about everyday. Pretty dark but I loved the ambience. its very mellow, chill and diverse. Huge screen right behind us. Bar. Open seating. Pleasant staff. Very authentic and flavorful. I loved it!!

If you want good service, DO NOT GO! The food might be cheaper and taste okay, but the service sucks!!!!! Definitely a place I won't go again!

Few places offer service of this calibur. The staff has a genuine love for the customer and their craft, making each person feel at home. As an example, my friends and i showed up on a whim with a 10 top and they quickly and effortlessly accomodated us. If the service is excellent, the food is even better. The pho is some of the best I have had outside of my vietnamese friends' homes and the flan and shrimp appetizers melt in your mouth. Enjoy.

I've been hearing about this place from various people, so when Danielle suggested it, I was totally down. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got the grill combo. And we decided to share the grilled eggplant appetizer, which was ok. Smelled way better than it tasted. On first bite of the shrimp on my grilled plate, it was actually quite awesome. The bite felt mealy but I didn't mind, but the port and chicken that came after was just bleh. They were both just ok, I suppose, but not particularly good. Not sure this is just a matter of picking a bad plate, but given that I had so many different things on there, I am not sure the grilled meats is the right thing. I might give it another try, but I am not sure that it'll ever really win me over.

Food? Below amazing above great. Service? Impeccable, extraordinary, better than Aunt June during biscuits and gravy breakfast in North Carolina. Ambiance? Candles, 3 ft. table gap radius, top 40's hit above 120 BPM. Pricing? Starbuck's venti white chocolate peppermint mocha. Comfort? Nothing two shots of whiskey can't fix. Bathrooms? Frigid, but I'm a guy so I'm in and out 60 seconds tops. Location? Bring a bat to echo locate the cave. My water had a slice of cucumber in it. Good thing, water's boring, turn it up a notch. --- yes I just used two commas in that sentence. --- yes I don't capitalize the first letter in a sentence sometimes, living life on the edge.

12 hour after eating their food I got painful food poisoning. My bf had the short ribs and it was bland. I had bun bo hue and still sitting on the toilet paying for it. Ambiance was nice. Service was meh. Our server didn't interact with us much nor did she smile. This was our first visit and will be our last.

This updates my previous review. All of the previous comments remain. However, I've studied their health inspection record. I normally do this prior to dining at a new restaurant. In this case, it was after our visits. Five of this restaurants last six health inspections have been "unsatisfactory". That's indicative of a management with a reckless disregard for their customer's health. We won't be returning. That's unfortunate, because I like the place. If you're interested in seeing their health inspection record, look here: info.kingcounty.gov/heal…

Oh Yes, this has to be my very favorite Pho I have had in seattle The broth was super flavorful, the ingredients fresh and the beef was juicy and perfect! Impressed! We stopped in for dinner and drinks last night. I ordered the curried chicken with vegetables, and my buddy had the fried tofu. I really liked the curried chicken - both the chicken and vegetables were not overcooked, and had a savory flavor. I was also impressed by the "crispness" of the wait staff in the bar area. Note that the restaurant is actually in the basement of the building, so when you drive by on First Avenue you might only see a small sign above a door.

This review is based off around 7 of my visits. Among several items on the menu, my go-to is the vermicelli bowl. They are very consistent in taste and it always fresh. Service is warm and quick, especially in the instances I order to go. Considering quality, taste, freshness, presentation, price and consistency this restaurant deserves my 5 stars!

HEADLINE: WORSE BROKEN RICE I HAD IN MY LIFE (I am Vietnamese). And it didn't come included with their grilled beef ribs?!?!? Strange considering the grilled beef ribs was average, albeit being twice as expensive as other Vietnamese restaurants (that include rice). I was on an adventure through Belltown finding a restaurant using my nose as a GPS. Then came the most amazing 'Com Suon' (rice with grilled beef ribs) smell. I was hoping I would actually find the restaurant, rather than it forever being hidden like other restaurants that smelled so good. Well, I found it... I already knew what I wanted to order when I smelled it a block away, and when the sign outside confirmed it was a Vietnamese restaurant: Com suon (Rice w/ beef ribs) The Experience in Boring Extended Detail.... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Points - Decent Fish Sauce - I liked the chairs - The sugar cane shrimp was good (but definitely not worth being twice as expensive as even the most expensive dim sum place in Seattle) So-so - The grilled beef was so-so. In detail, it was a bit too salty, too thick, and just not as good as other Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle. Bad - Rice wasn't included with the beef-ribs. This vietnamese dish is called "Com Suon" (Rice grilled beef) for a reason.. it should come with rice -RICE WAS WORSE BROKEN RICE I HAD IN MY LIFE. It didn't come free with the Rice grilled beef, and it came out cold? Colder than the can of coke I ordered? - Coke can was warm, so even with the ice, the coke wouldn't become cold -Twice the price of other vietnamese restaurants, but average, if not worse, food quality In Summary: Average food quality for a Vietnamese restaurant, but twice the price. If they changed the price, maybe an additional 1 or 2 stars. Actually, the food quality is below average since the most important component of rice grilled beef is rice.. and they screwed the rice up so bad, so that's where another point is loss. Service is average (for a vietnamese restaurant, which is lower than other restaurants), considering the guy was talking to me from 8 feet away and I waited for 5 minutes at the door when he's just wandering around doing literally nothing. Will I revisit? Probably not. They have a lot of variety of other dishes, but Rice Grilled Beef is a staple dish of Vietnamese food, that in someways allow one to predict the quality of their other food. It's average, twice as expensive as comparable restaurants, and the rice was horrible? Based on that, I highly doubt their other food options are worth a chance.

This is the best late night spot! The vermicelli with lop is absolutely crave able and the late night happy hour maces a lychee martini or ginger lemongrass mojito a must. Service can be a little slow and it gets strangely clubby at night, but you can't get a better late night fix.

The interior is hilariously bad as they took it over from a previous bar/nightclub but the food is terrific. I love their vermicelli noodle bowls as well as their Vietnamese pancake (which was recommended by the Seattle Times).

Not your typical Vietnamese Restaurant! Normally you go and no one speaks English, its like a whole in the wall place and service is horrible. Greenleaf is a hidden gem! They not only have amazing service but great food and an awesome atmosphere. They play great music that varies depending on whose working and have a GIANT PROJECTOR RELAYING SPORTS GAMES! They also have a full service bar that is on point! The service is amazing as well. The staff is so friendly and the owners are always there personally servicing you which gives it a nice touch. I LOVE this place! Seriously best Pho ever! I know its a bold statement but its true. I have a lot of Vietnamese friends that will not go out for Vietnamese food cause they feel like they can make it better but they WILL go to this place. I always get combo Vermicelli Bowl, combo BBQ Grill or Combo Pho. Cant go wrong! I literally come here 3 times a week at the very least. It is one of my favorite restaurants hands down. Even had my 21st birthday here and it was fabulous! They reserved a whole section of the bar for me. So if you haven't tried this place out you are LOSING my friend!

So I had no idea where my mom was taking me when we started walking downstairs to the basement of this building that I had completely missed the signage for. I'm glad she knew about this place. No wait for a table on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Free tea, huge portions, absolutely delicious = happy girl! I had the Vermicelli with pork and fried egg rolls, mom had the lemongrass chicken. I was a fatty and despite the huge portion I killed it all. My moms didn't even look like she put a dent in it. Was bummed I couldn't take her leftovers home due to being out for another few hours, otherwise I would have taken it. Service was fast and friendly and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Prices were great too!

You will not just happen upon this place and stop in. You won't. It's just a sign on the side of a building and it includes the word "lounge" so you'll not stop. We stopped here because our daughter stopped here with her class which had a local guide. Locals stop here and for good reason: good food. The curry chicken stir-fry was mad delicious and the noodle soup was also very good. Several reviews had negative comments regarding service but that was not our experience. The staff was attentive, helpful, and our food arrived quickly. We only had water this evening so our bill didn't suffer the beating a couple alcoholic drinks can rain down. This really was great food and a gem we will visit again.

Got my bill and it read "Vodka - $5.00 Well Vodka - $5.00". As if that's not bad enough in and of itself, then the round of shots that we ordered, per shot, were $6.00! An insult when considering these shots consisted of 2 parts liqueur (not a liquor like vodka) 1 part juice. Nice try in your attempt to screw over a group of 10 service industry workers! You should have known better on a Monday night.

Weird location for great food! Spring rolls and vermicelli bowls are my favorites. Service is always quick and accurate if not exceedingly warm and friendly. In the back is a full bar with a pretty decent cocktail menu. They do take out too and never judge me when I pick up dinner in sweats :)

wow, bar was packed this night. lots of people imbibing and getting some pho on. we sat in the dining room and opted for the pancake (i wasn't really a fan), fried rice and some bun. oh, we also had the mango salad. tons of food for 3 people. i thought the pancake was sort of tasteless, to be honest. the fried rice had fish balls in it and i was a little fearful, but since they were chopped up, nothing was overpowering. really loved the bun and the fresh mango salad. always good to pile in some veggies and fruit. the one thing i hate is the furniture in this place. big honking chairs that you can't move towards the table. the arms get in the way and they are pretty uncomfortable and awkward.

I have been here a couple times since it's right down the street. All of the food is solid, however the congee is what I will be coming back for. It's super flavorful with lots of fried garlic and scallions. This is actually how I like to make it at home vs. the more traditional kind that tastes like bland rice soup. I highly recommend trying the congee when visiting Green Leaf.

Excellent food! Great ambiance for both the restaurant area and for the bar/lounge area. I've taken out of towners here and have dinner/lunch with my husband on a regular basis. I like trying new things so I just order randomly most of the time and never gets disappointed.

My first impression upon walking into this place, was that it smelled funny. I admittedly came here craving a vietnamese avocado shake, only to be told they don't make them anymore. Really? We ordered the fresh spring rolls and the mixed fried rice with assorted seafood. The spring rolls were fresh, and had an unexpected crunchy stick of fried egg roll wrapper in the middle. The fried rice arrived, hot. It didn't have the most pleasant of flavors, but since it contained seafood (which is the culprit most of the time), I tried it anyways. The seafood was rubbery and the flavor of oil was overwhelming. I couldn't get past the greasy dirty oil flavor. I couldn't drink my water fast enough to try to wash that flavor out of my mouth, and as luck would have you, I couldn't get my water refilled. The ambiance is a bit strange in this place, and the air felt moist. I could imagine how the decor has potential, but in this case, it made me feel uneasy about spending any length of time in this establishment.

Very good food and nice decoration. Its like a secret place: follow the stairs that leads you to the underground restaurant. Minus 1 star for the music: Rihanna's album while eating spring rolls and pho, not what we can call "authentic".

    (4)
  • Brian L.

To be honest, the pho was 3-star worthy -- good in a pinch, but I've had much better. The extra star is for their late-night hours. I know I would hit up a pho place in Boston or LA all the time if it were open until 2 AM. The interior was as modern a decor that I've seen for a Vietnamese restaurant, which transitioned into the bar/lounge area. There was a mix of oldies followed by a top 10 Rihanna hits list blasting at bar volume, so it did make it feel more like eating at a bar, which is not your typical pho dining experience. As for the meal itself, I ordered my usual rare steak/brisket combo. The broth was a bit thin but with good flavor, and the meat and noodles were decent as well. As mentioned, I've had better, but past midnight, it's reasonable to lower your standards just a tad.

I'm sad to say I still eat here because it's convenient for late night food. Food is mediocre and the service is matching. Them only reason we have repeated a meal here is that it's the only place within waking distance that's open by the time we get around to dinner. Would NOT recommend as a first choice. I'm a pho over and I refuse to order it from here- I'll settle for a double order of spring rolls before ordering much else. Local oho, Viet Anh or Pho Cyclo is a much better choice!

Green Leaf has been known to be super good and as anyone's favorite Viet place to go to for authentic foods and YES I agree w all those statements. I recently discovered this location, looking for a late night bun rieu fix, and they are open until 2AM which is so convenient! The location in the Internation District is smaller than this one in Belltown. This one is HUGE. Large dining area, a lounge and a full bar. My favorite drink out of the few I had was the midori sour, best I've had compared to anyother bar I've been. I asked for a mango mojito and they did what they can, but for my taste, it wasn't as strong as I'd like it to be. As for the bun rieu.... you can never go wrong w it. Even the waiter said it was a great choice, and no he did not lie. This is the go to place for good food and good soup. If you like that pork blood on you bun bo hue and bun rieu, this is the place.

Hidden gem in Seattle! The restaurant is down in a basement but once you get there it's adorably decorated. The staff is very nice and friendly. We had a group of four people. Ordered two fried rice dishes, stir fried veggies with rice, curry chicken and had the fried bananas with coconut sauce for dessert. Everything was excellent!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yes, the prices are a tad bit pricier compared to hole in the wall vietnamese restaurants that may be just as good. However, they definitely do not skimp on their portions. I ordered the combination vermicelli and it was the largest bowl I could ever imagine. I was very satisfied with all the ingredients in the bowl, there was an just enough of everything. I usually have to deal with not enough meat, or not enough noodles, or both. This bowl of vermicelli had the right amount of every ingredient. On a side note, my original order was banh coun, which is a sort of rice crepe. They had ran out of it which was kind of disappointing but good thing I had an appetizing backup. Service was okay, not much you can expect from Asian restaurants, they just want to get things done - which they do. Our dishes came out pretty quickly and we were all quite content. They also had a bar in the back of the restaurant, which we did not have a chance to check out. Not sure if the two were affiliated though, since they had very contrasting atmospheres.

Whatever you do, please avoid throwing any type of party or event at this establishment. I celebrated my birthday at Green Leaf yesterday night and was very excited to do so. We had agreed to pay for enough food for 20 people, even though we eventually had a party of 24 show up. To my surprise we received a bill charged for 25 people, even though we had agreed to pay for 20. After conversing with the extremely defensive and rude owner today, he had brought to our attention that they had "secretly" added enough food to accommodate 25 people without asking for our approval. I'm sorry, but where I come from a deal is a deal. Give me food for 20 people and that's that. Don't add hidden charges and then dispute it. My birthday was ruined thanks to these people. I will never eat here again.

I'm a fan of the international district Green leaf not this one. When I looked at the menu I was like.. WTF? $14 for my favorite rice dish with only a fried egg replacing the meat cake?!?! The menu is higher priced, probably to compensate for the location. Ambience reminds me of The Matador or Ocho in Ballard. Happy hour has a limited selection. I had the shrimp egg rolls and my friend had the fried flour cake which tasted like the stuff my dad made. However, I also ordered the bun bo hue, and it didn't taste right. I still am wondering if it's because of the lack of spiciness or sweetness especially from pineapple. I paid $10 for the bun bo hue, which is quite pricy for a bowl of it. I had their peony drink for $6 and it was sweet and fruity Parking is easy if you're ok with street parking. It's far enough out from main Belltown that even the drunken clubbers and other riff raff aren't found easily here.

You are in Belltown, drunk, and wanting authentic Vietnamese food? Look no further because Green Leaf is open till 2am with a full bar just a walk away. The basement is a strange location but once you walk in, it is very clean and the service is uber friendly. Also, a projector tv so you can watch sporting events against the wall. I believe Green Leaf has the 2nd or 3rd best Bun Bo Hue. I like to ask for extra spicy and if you aren't adventurous...switch the blood for another meat option. lol Extra Spicy Beef Noodles Soup aka Bun Bo Hue is soooo good even when you are buzz or drunk. This will get you back on your feet to call that taxi or make the drive home safe and sound. All the dishes are pretty good, but if you never had it...get the Bun Bo Hue. They also have an ID location but I believe Belltown needed an option for Vietnamese restaurant because we all crave good Vietnamese food and it is a better alternative at late/morning hours than greasy fried food that you will poop right out. Recommended.

Chairs in this place are very uncomfortable. The armrest just won't let you pull chairs in and you're forced to sit at the edge of your seat. Great if you're watching a suspense thriller at the movies, not good if you are trying to eat!

This place is a keeper. We usually order pho but thought we would try something else on a hot summer evening . The food is authentic, excellent, tasty and fresh. We had the spring rolls (pho chay) and they were delicious with lots of fresh vegetables. The benh xeo, crêpe with pork and tofu, was the real deal and it was mind blowingly delicious with fresh vegetables and dip that was simple and very rich in flavor. And they were fun to eat due to making your own little wrap that is messy. The bun dac viet (vermicelli dish with mixed meats) was excellent too. My wife and I shared these two appetizers and one main dish - which was very satisfying on a hot summer evening. Also the service was exceptional. The atmosphere was nothing fancy but very nice and the food and service are what counts. And there's even a picture of Marial Batali on the wall, and if Mario likes this place, so do I. We always find it difficult to find a restaurant in Seattle that is so good where we want to keep eating after dinner and can't wait to go back, and this is definitely one of them. And the price can't get better.

Overpriced Vietnamese food, possibly to make up for their late night lounge area that's open till 2am. They added escargots to my dish (bun rieu). I didn't see them in there. I complained and they later said it was not "real escargots" but that they were still in there. There are fake escargots? Should I be concerned? *gulp* Overall the soup didn't taste very good and I didn't want to complain in a Vietnamese restaurant. My dish already took way too long to be prepared. I just dealt with it. My bf got the pho and said it was ok. He's had better and for the same price elsewhere. Overall we wouldn't come back here. Food was unimpressive. Service was ok as we were approached by multiple servers asking us if we needed anything (half star for that and another half for dining atmosphere). Near the end when the manager brought us our tendered check, she didn't even thank us for our business.

This is a good restaurant BUT it's not as good as all the talk about town would have you believe. Pros: The food is indeed really amazing and the menu extremely diverse. Plus it has a full bar and a side room for parties. So, it's got a lot going for it. Cons: No parking, VERY uncomfortable traditional Asian chairs, and unjoined bathrooms that are located outside the restaurant but inside the building and are badly in need of a renovation.

Ran across the other YELP reviews-I was looking for a place near our hotel where I could get good Vietnamese food as well as a clear broth with rice noodles for my partner who has been ill. The food was great- the staff accommodated my requests and the price was very reasonable- especially coming from the east coast!

Really delicious pho and bún. Tons of delicious vegetarian options (including vegetarian pho broth that is actually delicious). Good drinks too. The service can be slightly hit-or-miss, but nothing worth complaining about. The prices are awesome, and there are several awesome happy hour specials. The best part is they're open late. Love it!

We had heard about this place from our friends who work late nights in the bar industry and like to wind down here! We had never been before and decided to check it out, and were very pleased! The food was very good and the atmosphere is really cool. It's a little dark by the bar, but good for a date night! We've also done carryout and were SO pleased with the service. We walked in and ordered from the hostess, who showed us to a table right away to wait for our food to be ready. She brought us hot green tea while we waited, as well! This was an awesome touch that I have never seen done anywhere else, and was very impressed.

Do Not Eat Here! I got the spring rolls & found over 5 gnats in each roll! Every time I'd been there before the last experience, the service was pretty terrible but food seemed okay. It was just convenient. I can understand one bug, which can happen but both rolls having so many.

This place is has great pho, my only problem is the portion size is smaller than other places... but I'm a guy and I usually order the large/xlarge in other places. Their size is like a medium. The cocktails are great too.

I'm embarassed by how much I have eaten here in the last year. My boyfriend lives directly across the street, and when it gets late, this is our go to spot. I agree with most reviewers that going into the restaurant feels a bit suspect, as it is an old building that used to be a Labor Temple. There is a lot of wear and tear on the stairs, and it almost feels like a school or dormitory. However: once you have braved the echoing stairwell, descending to the bowels of the basement, you find a very clean and well-furnished restaurant. The bar is fun, dark and has the biggest projection screen TV in the history of mankind. You could put that thing in the Clink and use it in place of a jumbotron. Very useful for catching up on your sports, and they have the captioning on so you can have an ACTUAL conversation in this bar. The bartender is very pleasant and mixes a good cocktail. I like him a lot. Considering asking him to be my back-up boyfriend. Shh, don't tell. The tables in the restaurant seating area are well-sized, well-spaced and well-lit. I can't speak to everything on the menu and I'm trying to branch out, but what we have had: The vegetarian fresh spring rolls with the oft-mentioned crunchy stick in the middle, excellent dipping sauce, size and value for the money. My favorite is the delightfully done salted-pepper tofu. I thought it was salt-AND-pepper tofu the first time I ordered it, but it is salted tofu pillows, deep-fried, and served with jalapeno peppers. Served on a bed of fresh lettuce, with pickled jicama and carrots and onions that have been caramelized in crack cocaine, Or, you know. something else that is legal. The vegetarian fried rice is tasty with a good amount of veggies and tofu to the rice, and not overly salty. I have had their chicken satay skewers - the flavor is good, and they are usually done very well, but I am Jumpy Julie when it comes to chicken and if there is even a hint that an interior part might not be done as well as I like it (which is charred and so, so dead) I pop it in the microwave. Happened twice and it is probably just me, so don't avoid ordering them, they are delightful. Just a personal preference for carnivore char. Boyfriend eats seafood and has ordered many shrimp dishes off the appy and entree menu - he likes them all. We have also has the Grilled Sticky Rice Banana Cake for dessert. It doesn't look sexy but OH. MY. GOD. So good, and I'm not even sure why or what's in it. Just order it if you need dessert. You won't regret it. I know I'll be back many many times in the future.

4.5 Stars. I would give the food a 5 for being really delicious and authentic and totally worth the price. However, they really don't put too much of an emphasis on service and friendliness. Get any of the appetizers, congees, and salads. They are all delicious. Note: the salads are not like American salads.

I'm Asian-American and have been to several Vietnamese restaurants in California, WA, and PA. Food: The food is authentic as you can get and it is not "dumb down" to accommodate the typical American palette. Given the location of this restaurant and because it was not located in Chinatown, I initially made a false assumption that the food would not taste as good as the original stuff. I've been here twice so far, and the food is delicious and as real as you can get. Prices might be a tad bit more expensive than a viet spot in China town, however, the ambiance, location, and service makes up for it. Also, people here are complaining that the higher prices compared to the prices at their home branch in Chinatown is not necessary....I'm assuming that those complaints are coming from people who still live with their parents and don't know that the real estate and rental rates are significantly higher in Belltown than Chinatown. Ambiance: As mentioned above, this restaurant is located in Belltown. This is not your typical "hole in the wall" Asian restaurant. This place is a pretty nice compared to the spots in chinatown; the lights inside are dim, the interior vibe is romantic, and this is a spot that you can take on a date. My date was a blonde chick, she made comments saying that she tended to avoid the viet spots in Chinatown because they were dirty and she was concerned that she would run into staff that didn't know how to speak English. However, she mentioned that she would feel 100% comfortable returning to this restaurant. Service: We sat at the bar are in the back and was waited on by an extremely friendly and social viet lady. She made us feel very comfortable and was patient while we asked for her suggestions and recommendations. The service was probably by far one of the best I've ever received at any type of restaurant. IF you never had Vietnamese food before, I'm certain that this waitress would have no issues explaining to you want each item is on the menu.

Great service and the food is excellent! Wish they did delivery cause I'm only a few blocks away and could eat this stuff every week! If you love pho you'll love this place. I tried the beef combo, which I've never had before and after my first bite two words came to mind... Oh damn! lol Thank you Green Leaf!

I've been here maybe 4 times and eaten takeout a couple more. Only the Belltown location. Prices are pretty standard, but for the atmosphere and full bar, this place ranks high among Vietnamese restaurants. Granted, it's the only pho place I've been to in Washington, but when compared to Southern California, I'd say this restaurant does very well and has excellent service. The decor offers a little more than the standard mom n pop Vietnamese place, but that's kind of the fun of it. It tries a little harder to give you that neat experience! The pho, spring rolls, and dessert are delish AND there's a wonderful happy hour not to be missed.

I love their BBH, special udon, vermecelli bowls and rice dishes. it's awesome that there's now two locations, we frequent the newer one in Belltown which is within walking distance to the rest of downtown Seattle. If you're new, try the vermecelli bowls, mango salad, and pho as they will not disappoint. The portions are fairly big so bring your appetite!

Great place! I was like meh this place is going to be over priced and shady. But it was cheap! And it was a little shady but in a cool "secret spot only cool kids go"! The food sizes are nice and the food is super good! The waiters are watchful but not like hovering over you the whole tome. I love this place! You should go!

Low quality meats ruin any potential for a properly flavored dish. Disappointing fried rice as well, even for a Vietnamese restaurant. Salty plum soda is the only redeeming quality. If they could improve on quality it may begin to become edible. Shady downstairs location feels like a safety hazard.

After Bumbershoot, Craving piping hot noodles Glad we found this place Stashed in a basement Dark, sketchy stairs lead downward Feels like we might die Yummy aromas Making my stomach go RAWWWRRR I can't wait to eat Hit-or-miss service Had to ask twice for some straws Where are our refills? Extensive menu The high prices surprised me It's okay--YOLO... Here's what we ordered: Bun thit nuong cha gio, pho tai, And some bun bo hue Bun thit nuong cha gio Veggies, noodles, and eggrolls Packed into huge plate Bun bo hue, pho tai Bowls stuffed with noodles and meat And scalding hot soup Ginormous portions Everything was delicious And not too greasy Green Leaf Restaurant Open until 2AM Wooohooo, thank goodness!!! :) Who woulda thunk that I would stumble upon such delicious and authentic Vietnamese food at midnight in Belltown, Seattle?? The food made such a huge impression on us that we came back here for lunch the following day ;)

My friend's farewell dinner was here so a large group of us came. We were able to pre-order a set menu with many different things to try. Everything was good and fresh. There were some interesting things I had never had before like a fish cake on lemongrass, and their pancakes are really nice. The staff was so friendly and we all had a great time here. I also love that the prices are reasonable and this place is pretty convenient being in Belltown. I can't wait to come back!

Very good Vietnamese style food. The owners are very friendly and the food comes in large portions and is delicious. The Bánh Xèo crepes are thin and crispy the way there supposed to be. If your looking for a nice healthy dish the lotus root salad is very spicy and fits my pallet perfectly.

I tried the fried Pork spring rolls and I about died. SO DELICIOUS! I was very happy to have been dining alone because no one needed to see how fast I ate those things. Pho Ga is GAREAHT!, they have richly flavored broth which is the KEY to great Pho in my opinion. Good quality shredded chicken and fresh produce too. Served the meal with hot tea and ice cold water, a nice combo. Very friendly staff and I LOVE the decor, it feels a little like the Tiki room at Disneyland. My ONLY complaint is that its slightly more expensive than most Vietnamese I've had around Seattle so far, thus just one star less for me.

feel like I'm missing something...? I mean it was good but people told me the Chinatown Green Leaf was the best thing since sliced bread. I had been there a long time before but didn't remember thinking that so when this Green Leaf opened, I was eager to check it out. We came here for a work lunch. It was a hot day so I had the sugarcane shrimp bun cold vermicelli noodles and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The food was good and I love Vietnamese food. The sugarcane shrimp was a giant clump around the sugarcane which I thought was weird because I've never had it so weird and lumpy. I have no complaints about the food but I just didn't think it was, well, the best thing since sliced bread. The space is kind of strange. It's underground so there's no windows. With that said, the place was clean and the chairs are cool. The last thing that put me off was just that it was a little pricy considering I saw it as a casual lunch. The food is typical Vietnamese food that I get for $5-6 at Tamarind Tree for lunch and I think they would benefit from having a lunch menu. I'd give this place 3.5 stars. Above average but not quite in the "very good" territory yet. So...good-ish?

I was visiting Seattle, and I met up with friends here last week. This place had yummy appetizers and I really liked the atmosphere. What I like most was the hospitality of the owners. They were personally hanging out briefly to each table, to make sure we are good. I hope this guys would open up another restaurant here in L.A. LOL We all need places like Green Leaf. :)

I love this place!! The service is always good, quick, and friendly and the food is always fresh and flavorful. The restaurant seems like it's a secret club of sorts because it's in the basement but it's cozy and somewhat intimate. Try their vermicelli dishes, their pho, and their Vietnamese coffee. This place is my regular go-to!

As l entered, I got kind of an old school tiki vibe from the place. It was early afternoon, so I was seated right away. I ordered the Bo Kho, a beef stew, over egg noodles. It was good, but after a while, the sweetness in the stew started overwhelming me. Then again, I prefer things more savory and spicy. It was a lot of food. The service was nice. I'd come again, but try something else.

Lucky, lucky Belltown. They now have their own Green Leaf. I had lunch here this weekend and it is super awesome that there is now a Green Leaf location in Belltown. Though it's a bit strange that the restaurant is in the basement of a building on a somewhat random corner (it's really not near any of the other Belltown restaurants)- they have managed to capture all of the authentic aspects of their International District location at the new location. I guess one good thing about the random location is that there is an abundance of street paring- which is always an issue when driving and parking in the ID. The place is huge inside (much larger than their ID location) and they have a large bar that looks like it could be fun on a Friday or Saturday night. They do have Delirium on tap (random again for a Vietnamese place- but awesome). There was zero wait for a table at lunch, service was prompt and attentive, and the food was well priced and extremely tasty. They actually serve a Banh Mi here for about $6- which I don't remember seeing at the other location- and it's up there with Saigon Deli, Yeh Yeh's, and iSandwich..... bread is super good, nice serving of grilled pork, just the right amount of Jalapenos, daikon and carrots are there too. We also had the "Combo Tray" with the make-your-own hand rolls. The chicken and shrimp were nice- but it's their grilled pork that really shines. It's smokey, tender, juicy, and pairs nicely with the dipping sauce and fresh herbs they provide. Between the sandwich and the combo tray- it was a ton of food for 2 people. I'll be coming back for sure. LOVE this place.

Expensive, food was not good. Crepes were burnt, beef noodle soup had so much MSG it gave me a headache right after. Not so good service, 18% gratuity added to bill on top of tax. Make sure you check your bill before paying.

This place continues to be great. For an appetizer, check out no 6, pan fried rice flour cake, topped with egg & green onion (bot chien). The perfectly crispy rice cakes contrast well with runny scrambled eggs and subtle dipping sauce. Highly recommended. The vermicelli bowls (bun) with grilled lemongrass beef are awesome. So are the bowls with grilled beef lop leaves (sometimes called "la lot", this is flavorful ground beef wrapped in an interesting, bitter leaf). The pho here is also tasty. And they're open till 2 am *every night*!

I don't get how people could give this place less than 4 stars. The original location in the ID is one of the better if not best Vietnamese restaurants in the area and this new location does a lot of the same things the other place does well. It's no frills, great service, reasonable prices (kick in an extra buck or two due to the Belltown location) and delicious food with amazing hours. My friends and I have been there almost half a dozen times now for quick meals and late night food on the weekends. Their hours are extended until 2am on Friday and Saturday for those craving some vermicelli or spring rolls instead of cream cheese hot dogs. I'm a fan of the banh xeo, bun bo hue, spring rolls and those awesome vermicelli bowls (i usually go for the bun dac biet since it has pretty much everything in it). The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are pretty spot on and Peter and his staff have always been welcoming. There are few restaurants where the proprietor is an active and positive influence with the customers every day -- but each time I go, there he is greeting customers and ensuring their experience is a good one. I can really appreciate that and I can tell he's put a lot of effort and energy into this location. My friends and I will do our best in contributing to its success. For a lot of us that live in the neighborhood, the lack of GOOD asian food offerings was always a point of pain (especially among myself and my asian buddies). We're all really excited to have a fantastic restaurant join the scene and hope it'll be here for a long, long time.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have never been treated so poorly by the owner of a restaurant in my life and I was pretty shocked by the whole event. I planned to throw a party here and entered into a contract over email with the owner for the party. I've eaten here and at the ID location plenty of times and figured the party food would be a good deal but I was wrong, it was a rip off. Flimsy disposable party platters of food that was barely enough for the people there and drinks were totally overpriced on top of it. I assumed going into the night that I knew exactly what would be owed at the end of the night, wrong, we were overcharged by $146.65 for some reason. I went ahead and paid the bill thinking there was just a miscommunication between the owner and the servers and I figured it would be an easy fix the next day. I contacted the owner the next day to clear up the mistake and instead of finding a solution, I found myself in a phone war with the most defensive restaurant owner I've ever spoken to. He came up with a variety of reasons for the charge (special room that we didn't ask for, we didn't order enough booze but there had been no talk of drink minimum, there were a couple extra people there and even though they didn't eat they had to pay the same as everyone else). After 3 phone calls (one of which he hung up on me during) where he refused to listen to anything I had to say, he said absolutely would not for any reason refund the overcharge. I guess that money was more important to him than any of us ever patronizing his restaurants again. There are plenty of great Vietnamese restaurants in town that will be getting my money from here on out.

There really isn't a whole lot of Vietnames restaurants to choose in Seattle. Maybe I'm just spoiled having grown up in Orange County where Little Saigon is a must-go-to area at least a few times a month for authentic Vietnamese food. I'm talking about the dirty places (because we all know, the dirtier the restaurant, the likelier the food is more authentic. Anyone? Anyone?) My friend, having just moved to Seattle and been deprived of Vietnamese food, and I came to Green Leaf and it certainly smelled like a Vietnamese restaurant. Strong, asian herbs and fish sauce, is what I mean. We both decided to order the "Special Combo" vermicelli bowls. It basically came with chicken, steak and shrimp, an eggroll sliced into pieces, over a bed of rice noodles and vegetables. Vermicelli is my go-to dish when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine. Well, that and pho. Green Leaf's vermicelli was standard. There really isn't anything special about it... but then again, it would be pretty difficult to screw up such a standard dish. I enjoyed it. The only slight gripe that I have is that the price was definitely higher than what I am used to. I believe it was $10.95 for an average-sized bowl. I somewhat expected it, seeing that we were in Belltown, Seattle. I miss Westminster, California.

If you don't happen to spot the little sign on Clay, you've missed your chance to enjoy a hole-in-the-wall beaut. Less visitors, more for you. The menu is extensive, the food is delicious, the portion sizes are huge and the quality exceeds the price you pay. A great find!

This quickly became one of my favorite places after one visit. It is in the Temple of Labor building, or something like that, with the main entrance on 1st but you can get in from Clay if the side door is open. You wouldn't think the place would be so large from the outside. The service seemed fine, they seemed used to lunch rushes. I think I had the vermicelli with grilled lemongrass beef. Whatever it was, it tasted amazing. This dish was bursting my face off with flavor and freshness. I would pay more than I did. I think it was $11-12. Eat here. Right now! You won't regret it.

3.5 stars. 4 for food, 2 for atmosphere. Came here on a Friday night with a group of 10 and the service was impeccable and super friendly. We ordered a smattering of dishes - including vermicelli bowls, fish curries, fresh spring rolls, egg rolls, soup and everyone enjoyed their meals. I wish that they had found a space that wasn't in a weirdo dark basement - the ambiance definitely leaves more to be desired but the food makes it almost worth it. This may be a great place for take-out for dinner or lunch.

I've been here a few times--nice ambiance, open late, surprisingly good drinks. Why would I never come back? Last time I was here the waitress brought out my girlfriend's food about 20 mins before mine came out and said mine would be right out. (I only ordered pho, not something complex). I kept looking at her and politely trying to get her attention as I waited and waited, but she avoided eye contact. Finally she came over and what like, uh, is there a problem? I never got my food, duh! As if that wasn't bad enough, my girlfriend found THREE DIFFERENT HAIRS in her food (not her own!) and there were unidentifiable, hard black things in my soup (when it finally arrived, after she had finished her food because it was getting cold). To top it off, every time I've eaten here I've had the same odd reaction--my face turns bright red and my head feels like a balloon that's about to pop. I've heard it's a symptom of MSG poisoning--something I'm not particularly sensitive to, so they must be using a ton (or something more nefarious). Just found out the Cap Hill location was shut down for health code violations over the summer, not surprised.

Weird location for those that don't know where it is. But it is the bomb! #63 will blow your mind and taste buds away. I get it with Pork. The owner wine waiters are really friendly and lots of banter can be had...all in good jest. I like this location better than the ID location. The food is better. I get so excited when I know we are going to get dinner there.

The location of the restaurant is a bit strange and its also really dark in there. Also, the two times I have been there was club music playing quite loudly in the dinning room. The pho here is amazing. The broth has tons of flavor. The first time I went, they served cucumber water and the second time, they served green tea as well as plan water. I have also had the spring rolls and they are really tasty, but come with a tad too much lettuce. This is definitely a place that I will return to regularly.

To quote a great gal I know "This place is bomby" I have so far tried two things off their menu; The Combo Vermicelli and the Stir-Fried Rice/Egg Noodles. The latter being my favorite. I had the same dish from another Vietnamese restaurant on 2nd not too far from this location a week prior and it made me realize just how good G'Leaf was. There is one BIG NEGATIVE thing about this place though. Every time I go in there, it's as if they are inconvenienced by my presence.I want to give this place 6 Boun Stars, but unfortunately, the continued poor service knocks it down to 5 due to amazingly good Vietnamese food.

Shocking to find a good Vietnamese restaurant in Belltown! When I'm craving ID quality food, I come here! They deliver too and they're open late! I'm surprised it's not more popular or maybe I've just been out of the loop! If you're craving authentic Vietnamese food, this is your spot! I love it. I can walk here from home so that's a bonus!

Even though i like the food here, I thought i should update my review because of the customer service. I came here the day before Martin Luther King Day and we had a server that was technically neglecting us! She was short with red/orange hair... I came there with a few friends and we all work in a restaurant business, so I know how to serve customers with good service... When we ordered food and she brought it out, she told us we should move the table together for the amount of food we ordered and walked away. She didn't bother to help us. We can also see that she was giving better customer service to other customers... I felt like we had to ask for everything... She RARELY even checked up on us compared to the other customers. But when the owner came, that changed. She acted like as nothing happened. We can see that on all the other tables, she brought sauce for the pho. But when our table ordered it, she NEVER even bothered. It was pathetic, she needs to learn how to treat customers the way she would like to be treated, psh. Lucky her i actually gave her a decent tip. It would be nice if I could be rude enough and write "You need training" NO TIP! Ugh. We all felt the vibe of how she was serving towards us.

I'd have to say that I like Green Leaf. Much of the Vietnamese food is catered toward American palettes, but it's still good nonetheless. Sometimes the dishes will come out totally traditional, sometimes not. I think the canh cua (tomato based sweet/sour soup) and bo kho (beef stew served with banh mi/baguette or hu tieu/noodles) are really good there :) My friend always orders their banh xeo... I don't know how many I've eaten within the last month haha. I usually get extremely welcoming service at Green Leaf, especially from the owner Peter and his wife Jennifer. Most of the servers are very sweet although not always on top of things? Like.. getting your soup without spoons, or confusing your order, etc. It's never a really big issue though. I've noticed within recent visits, however, that by the night not all of the servers/bartenders can maintain a friendly attitude, but I guess that's understandable. All in all, I like (:

This is one of the only Vietnamese restaurants that is open late on weekends in the downtown Seattle area. So if your craving for Pho in the late hours on weekends, this is the place to go! They also serve alcohol and provide a chill atmosphere to hang out to drink & eat if you don't feel like going to a crowded club or bar. The owner of the place is very welcoming and normally greets us as we are seated. We arrived 10 mins to closing and he still served us food. And the nice thing is that he didn't watch the clock as if he's in a rush to kick us out. He just patiently waited until we asked for the check. Now that's outstanding service because we were the last one's to leave the restaurant. I'm giving a 5 star to this place for the convenience of being open late because I don't know any other Vietnamese restaurants open this late in downtown seattle and the service was great and the food was good.

I'm not sure if I went there on a bad day or what but I was highly disappointed in this restaurant. The pho was just watered down. I had to keep adding hoison sauce ad siracha to add some flavor to the pho. Also, the pho was slightly more expensive than most pho places. I was also surprised that I didn't see com tam on the menu. I did happen to order some ca kho and that tasted good but not good enough for me to get over the pho.

Today I stepped out of my pho and bahn mi comfort zone and tried out Green Leaf's "Sour Catfish Soup". I shared it with everyone at my table and everyone's eyes got big with how good this meal was. The soup is sweet, it has tomatoes and pineapple, and yes a little sour in the aftertaste - there's loads of cilantro, and the fish was tender and mild. It's difficult to convey how tasty this combination was, but it was really quite sensational. Light, sweet, fresh, savory - it had it all. Move over pho, this is my new favorite soup.

I can't get enough of this place. I used to frequent their ID location, but now that they are located in Belltown I'm super excited because it's closer to home. The atmosphere is a fancy Vietnamese speakeasy restaurant. Delicious cocktails....even more delicious food & amazing service from the workers and owners. Pho, vermicelli bowls, lemongrass beef, spring rolls, banh xeo, bot chien...all of it is an orgasm in your mouth. Best part.....they are open until 2am daily!!!

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants now only two blocks away? Say it isn't so! Belltown is one lucky duck. And I am glad to benefit as a resident. I highly recommend the spicy beef and tomato shrimp pattie noodle soup. Those are our go to dishes, always flavorful, hot, and satisfying. Even though we are disappointed by the watered down spring roll sauce, we still can't say no to the crunchy deep fried surprise in every bite. Way to go Green Leaf, for keeping my stomach happy!

It was late at night, and I told that Mexican I was very hungry. I was looking for a Vietnamese restaurant that was still opened at 12am. We decided to try out Green Leaf since we didn't have too many choices. The restaurant was kind of underground. I really didn't expect to see a lovely restaurant with cute decorations; however, I was pretty surprised. The foods really amazed me. My favorite is the fried see bass. Overall, I would say that this place has good foods and an amazing atmosphere that even that Mexican enjoys dining here.

Pho-nominal We were a little skeptical of the location, at base of the Labor Temple Building and felt a little awkward heading into the basement. However, after past that, you enter this whole new world - a surprisingly large space with a bar area. The Bar area is very intimate vs. the Dining area which has a lot of tables to accommodate a variety of party sizes. The service is pretty fast. The portions are pretty large. The prices are very reasonable. My favorites are the Pho, The Combo Vermicelli Dishes, The Cold Rolls, the Vietnamese Pancake, the Green Papaya salad, and of course the Grilled Meats. The sizes are fairly big - so great for sharing. All the dishes are packed with flavor. It's a great addition to the Belltown restaurant scene.

Came a few times before and decided to write a review about my recent dining experience. The food here tastes amazing!! Got the grilled combo rice plate and the banh xeo which is a Vietnamese style crepe and every time the flavors have been consistent. The staff here are always smiling and friendly where the water is always filled. If you are looking for consistent tasting and a friendly staffed restaurant, this is a must try place.

Living in QA, I was really excited for the new, closer location. We ordered the exact same dishes(vermicelli bowl with pork and egg rolls and the spicy lemon grass chicken) that we ordered during our last visit to the ID just for comparison. Sadly, this location is just not as good as the other. The vermicelli bowl was ok, but it's kind of a hard dish to mess up. The fish sauce was super sugary which was really weird! The spicy lemongrass chicken had absolutely no flavor and wasn't even spicy! On a positive note, this place is open 7 days a week and serves food until 2am. The dishes probably taste amazing late night, but if it's the middle of the day and you have the time, the extra trek across downtown is well worth it.

YAY, another Green Leaf with the same delicious food as the original location. Don't be put off by this weird location. Yes, it's in a dark basement, yes there are a frightening collection of light fixtures (not to mention the light up cave rocks), and yes the furniture is wildly mismatched (but remember the wagon wheel stuff on the second floor of the ID location?), but the menu is the same and the quality of the food is the same. And this location is open late on the weekends. There is no better Vietnamese food in Seattle!

  • Tiffany T.

Love their food.. they added a really nice crunch to their springroll. It was pretty unique and I was surprised to be impressed. Also tried their Bun Bo Hue. Also pretty good but nothing amazing or special.. I am Vietnamese though, so my reviews for their food may be a little harsher. That's why they got a 3 instead of a 4. But it was all pretty good. My friend loved her vermicelli noodles!! And why they didn't get a 4 or 5, I did not care for their service. Not very friendly or seemed to care. Customer service is big for me.

I am a fan! You can't go wrong with the fried rice cakes as an appetizer and the vegetarian vermicelli as an entree. If you're with a friend, make sure to split the green papaya salad. Thirsty? Try the classic, Vietnamese iced coffee. Service isn't the best, but it's a must try if you're new to Seattle.

Ok - I went to the ID Green Leaf for dinner and decided to check out the Belltown location because it is super close to my work. Similar to the other place, it looks like a hole in the wall. But once you walk down the stairs and into the actual restaurant...boy are you in for a surprise. This is their newest location and it is snazzy up in there. The decor is awesome and they did a great job setting the mood. Not to mention that place has a full bar in the back that is open till 2 AM. Crazy cool for a vietnamese restaurant! I had the beef flank and brisket pho for lunch and it was probably one of the best soups I have had around here. I am kind of a pho snob and can attest to the great broth, well done noodles, and fresh veggies. Amazing! I will definitely be coming back here for lunch and other meals / drinks in the near future. Highly recommended!

I so wanted to give this place 5-Stars but it wouldn't be fair. The only negative thing (let me get this out of the way) was the service; fast but not very knowledgeable. Our server was not familiar with the beer selection, nor could he inform me vegan friend of appropriate dishes - I don't think he knew anything about the dishes other than what was printed on the menu. Now the positive. I think everything on the menu is good. They have several dished featuring duck (fan) and they menu is ample without being overwhelming. They have congee (porridge/soup, not Japanese script) - and they have several varieties! The Sriracha sauce is flowing in this place and I really like the feel of the layout. It's basically under the Labor Union Temple, and you walk down into a basemented area - the decorations are perfect. This place is unassuming. The best? This place has Delirium Tremens on tap - that's just amazing. Even though anyone who likes Delirium knows that the tap ruins it - it's still amazing. I can't say if this place is better, or worse, than the original in the ID, but I am now a regular.

The belltown location of Green Leaf is in an obscure basement but the food is really good. Lunch on a Saturday was quite pleasant mainly due to there were two other people in the place. I ordered the combo Pho and it was tasty and the broth makes it. Try this place out.

Never going here again, and I potentially could have been a regular because I live less than 2 blocks away. My boyfriend and I decided to walk in this place because of the good yelp reviews.... great for the people who had a good experience here... I didn't. The waiter looked like he was on drugs , got my order completely wrong (I ordered CONGEE not PHO) and he never came to check on us... once. We also sat & stared at our food for about 10 minutes after we were finished. The pho wasn't that great either, i've had better. Never coming here again, pathetic service and not worth it.

I got the tofu Bahn Mi and I would not suggest it to anyone. the tofu was no good. and the veggies were not fresh tasting. And for 6.00 its really expensive for a sandwich compared to other places. Service was slow they took forever to take our order and we had to wait a while once we were done for them to bring our bill and this was during a time when the places was not very crowded because it was 330 in the afternoon. Honestly there is much better Vietnamese food in Seattle I love Bahn Mi so this was a huge let down. Especially since everyone else seems to have given this good reviews. My friend got the soup and it was also expensive and nothing special.

Food tastes good, bit expensive. I had the stir fried noodle thing with chicken- it was the best I've vietnamese stir-fried noodle thing I have had so far. Consistency was spot on, good after taste, chicken was cooked just right, good amount of char, that nice sweet after taste. The food tastes good, the location is really strange, the prices are a bit high (normal for Belltown). Didn't try their noodle soups yet.

I've decided to give this place five stars even though I think it should be 4.5. The food here is great -- just as good, in fact, as the original International District. If you want to know more about the food then read the reviews on the original location. The only issue I have with this place is the physical space -- it's in a basement that despite the dressing up still basically feels like a basement. It's not necessarily dank or anything like that but it feels rather antiseptic. I could also have done with a less of the 80s female power ballads. Overall, though, I'm really happy that Greenleaf is not only much closer to me but also in a place with much easier parking.

I live down the street from Green Leaf, and whenever I'm in a bind thinking "What should I have for dinner tonight?", Green Leaf comes to the rescue! I actually came to Green Leaf my very first night in Seattle, taking advantage of the fact that they're one of the few places open really late (2am!) on weekdays. The service was so amazingly friendly, and the food just as good. We had pho the first night, and I've had that a few more times, as well as variations of lemongrass beef and other dishes. None have been disappointing, including my dinner tonight. Some have commented on the location; the entrance I admit is a bit strange but once I'm inside, I really don't seem to remember that I'm actually in the basement of a random "temple". Prices are a little high (somewhat expected for Belltown) but the availability of a piping hot bowl of Pho so close to home makes me already more confident for the coming winter.

Can't believe I forgot to write a review of this one as I have been there many times already. The reason of coming back are -- Good food, Good price, and Good services. One of my lunch buddies commented "I ate there 5 days a week, including dinner". And yes, with that many options to choose from in Belltown, Green Leaf does has such a power to draw people back again and again, it got to be Good. Lunch time can be very packed, even though they have many tables, but, hey, people do know where to go to enjoy good stuff. Usually people go to vietnamese restaurant is for Pho. Frankly, with that many other vietnamese restaurants I have been to, this is the only place I didn't, by default, think of Pho. Not because of I don't like their Pho but because, they offered 100+ different items in the menu to choose from. And lots of the items you can hardly fiind in the typical vietnamese restaurant, therefore, I picked those other interesting things and not yet tried pho from there. My favorite? Duck boneless congee, Beef stewed, and pan fried lemongrass seabass. I also like to have their iced vietnamese coffee. While having my regular meal and watching the coffee dripping from the filter is another pleasure. I guess that (wait for the dripping part done) keep me from finished coffee before my meal is nice. Last time we have a chat with, maybe the owner or someone in charge of the restaurant (he came to our table to chat), he told us they do do catering, like wedding, birthday party .. etc. They will cook @ the location. So, if you're looking for catering of vietnamese food, maybe check them out too. Arr .. I will bring my own plate with me if you invite me :)

Just too much MSG. I left last night with horrible flushing, tingling up my neck and shoulders. Real stressful - won't be back. Also, the service isn't great. I love the bar area and appreciate the 13 foot TV always playing sports and the great happy hour, but my body just reacts to MSG and I don't even have to call and ask them if they use it - THEY DO!!

Not a fan, the Pho was very salty...was extremely thirsty after eating it.

The combo vermicelli was absolutely delicious. So were the spring rolls. Portions were plentiful. The lemonade was a bit overpriced but I think that is on par with everyone else. This place is going to get a return visit from me for sure.

Kyle is the best bartender! I highly recommend heading to the back bar and enjoying an expertly mixed drink with your delicious meal.

What more can I say? Yes it's in a basement..............yes, the food is good............yes, the bar produces some pretty good drinks.............and it's a 4 block walk from my new apartment. Will be on my list of places to go for pho since the good ol' Seattle weather is back to gray.

Loved this little vietnamese restaurant! The complimentary green tea was a welcome sight after walking from the Seattle Center in the cold wind. Our food came out very quickly, and my meatball pho was everything it should have been. We had great service and enjoyed chatting with the waitresses. I would love to visit the place later at night if I'm ever out in Belltown.

This place is located in a strange spot at the bottom of the Labor Temple building. I stumbled across it walking around the neighborhood one day and wandered in. I thought I was lost when I first went looking for the restaurant, because it's located at the bottom of the building...kind of creepy. The space feels really dark and confined, it was hard to get past the fact that we were in the basement. The staff was very welcoming and came around often to check on me or refill my water. They don't get very busy here, so a quick meal is easy. The menu is pretty big with many options - same as the ID location. It felt like minutes after ordering that my food arrived, they were quick! The only downside is that their prices are a few bucks more than ID, but I guess they need to compensate for location right?

    (4)
  • Kaya W.

The food is great, however, the atmosphere is... ehhhh. The space is huge and just feels empty since they're still getting on their feet. Just a little overdone for my taste. I recommend checking out their location in the International district.

UPDATE! Ok, I finally came here with a coworker who loves trying out various Vietnamese Pho places in Seattle. There are a couple that he adores and believes no one else could top it. Until now. We decided to have a sit down lunch and we both ordered a shared appetizer of sweet potato and shrimp and our respected order of Pho (I got the combo and he got the well done). The broth was divine and rich with flavor. The service was great, even with I pulled a stupid and spilled my drink all over the table. The only down side is, I think the price is a bit high. My coworker moved this place to the top of his list and would definitely come back as a regular. As for my previous post, I would have to say, order the more common dishes for appetizer such as spring rolls, egg rolls, etc. The more obscure ones may not turn out as you expect.

This is a really great spot. The ambience is really cool, the service is great and the food/drinks are awesome. I had a spicy lemongrass shrimp dish with rice that was amazing (if you don't like spicy food I would not recommend though, it was hot). My girlfriend had a lemongrass beef vermicelli dish that was also really good. I will certainly be going back and am looking forward to trying the pho!

My first trip to get Pho in my new city and I was impressed. I was a little skeptical walking into the basement, not sure if I was at the right place, but was pleasantly surprised at what I found. They did well with what they had and the space didn't feel like a basement. I had the rare beef pho - yum! The broth was a little sweet for my taste but the noodles and beef were delish. I'll definitely return here. Waitstaff very attentive and nice as well.

Gren Leaf is great for any occassion. The food is amazing, my favorite entree is the Grilled Combo (pork (with a fried egg on top), chicken, shrimp and a couple egg rolls. Couple that with some brown rice, and you're golden. Filling, taste is great and the price is very reasonable. I've been a huge fan of Green Leaf since they first started in the International District and still feel that this is the best Vietnamese restaurant out there in Seattle. Must try

Love the Vietnamese pancakes! Love the grilled beef wrapped in betel leaves! Love the combo vermicelli! In the end, Green Leaf is great, and the service is fantastic.

From the outside, Green Leaf's location in the Labor Temple building's basement does not look inviting or appealing, but the hypnotic scents will lure you down the dimly lit stairwell, and in to a very decorated, cozy little place. The fresh spring rolls are a must, and their house cocktail list is definitely unique. The menu itself is dauntingly large, but consistently delicious. We have never had anything but great experiences with the staff--friendly and fun but never overbearing or constantly interrupting. Ignore the facade and Green Leaf will soon become one of your "usuals."

We called ahead a to-go order of pho, a noodle dish and the fried chicken wings. When we arrived to pick up the order one woman gave me the check and walked away to help other customers who were sitting down. We waited a little longer and another woman came over to check if we had been helped and we told her we were just waiting on a takeout order. She checked that I paid then immediately went over to where our food had been sitting while we had been waiting a few minutes for the other woman to come back (she had completely forgot about us). We also requested there be no nuts on the noodles, but when we arrived and checked they mistakenly added peanuts so they remade it, but we again had to wait for that to be complete. In the course of about 20 minutes we had about 4 different people helping us at any one time. It seemed a little chaotic and waiters/waitresses were all over the place. As for the food, when we finally did get it and took it home 2 blocks away, the chicken had become slightly cold, but they were actually quite good. Good flavor and crispy. The pho was also a good size and had a lot of meat in it. Prices were fair, but I think they need to work on coordinating the staff a little. It's a new place, and I'll definitely go back to try the other dishes.

Expected a bit more of the taste of the Chinatown location but it could be the new equipment that still needs the wear and tear of being around for a long time. Good food but a bit more expensive than I expected

Great food with plenty of vegetarian options. Will definitely go again.

I do find myself craving the food here. It's my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town, especially since they can do dome entrees without fish sauce, which I'm allergic. Staff is nice, but not as attentive as most servers are in Seattle, and the only reason it's not a five star rating.

    (4)
  • Mina W.

I was immediately smitten when my family and I entered a dark basement to get to this restaurant. The decor includes a koi pond. How could anyone not be charmed? I had one of the best bowls of soup I've had in my life. We didn't have cocktails, but the bar certainly looked inviting. I will be back, and soon.

Pho at Green Leaf late at night was as good as during the day. My favorite is the Bo La Lot and the vermicelli special. Cocktail menu is great. Give Pisco Sour a try. Big bonus is the new projector in the bar area to catch some great games.

  • Seth L.

Amazing food, reasonably priced. I'm not an expert on "authentic" but I know a good spring roll and grilled chicken bun when I see (or eat) them. Loses one star for being in the basement.

  • Ashley H.

I can always count on Green Leaf to get good Pho. They have the best tasting broth so far. The beef and chicken pho are great here. Ive also tried their vermicelli bowl, shrimp spring rolls, and Vietnamese pancake and all were tasty. The vegetables are fresh. The service is usually pretty good too.

  • Josh T.

The setting is strange: the basement of the Labor Temple and the décor is... intense? Intensely decorative? There's a cave? Regardless, the service is very warm and welcoming for a Vietnamese restaurant. Portions are enormous. Don't get the pho, this is definitely the place to try some more adventurous Vietnamese food, there's a tomatoey soup w/ pork and escargot that is very different and delicious!

  • Eric M.

I've eaten lunch here twice in the past week and both times were excellent. This is the SAME Green Leaf that was in the International district folks. Run, don't walk here. It's not a hole in the wall, it's a hole in the "ground", meaning it's a basement space without windows. Don't let that put you off. The service is friendly, fast and the menu is as varied as anyone could want. My fave is the grilled chicken Bun-vermicelli bowl. It's almost as good as Tamarind Tree which is the current champion in my book. Lot's of fresh veggies, wonderful fresh grilled chicken. The spring/fresh rolls also rival Tamarind Tree. If you don't mind the dated "Knights of Columbus" decor and the lack of natural light, this place is great for Vietnamese food.

Hands down my favorite Pho spot in town. From the staff to the food to the drinks A+! Absolutely love this place!

Massive portion of shrimp fried rice, that came out of the kitchen hot and fresh. A little drizzle of Siracha and NOMNOM! I had the leftovers for work time snack around 3pm. It was just too damn tasty to leave until the next day. The service was proficient and everyone was really pleasant and helpful.

Pho and Beer.. Shots and Spring rolls? You got my vote. Try the vietnamese version of the bloody mary, it is very tasty.

This place is excellent! Only on rare occasions do I go out and about for lunch anymore but so many co-workers were raving about this place that I had to try it for myself. I had the vegetarian pho with veggie broth and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of flavor! I can't wait to go back. Tip: If you go for lunch, try and get there as soon as they open, this place fills up quickly!!

This is a great place with really excellent food, but we always choose to eat in the bar when we go. We have had poor service in the restaurant area every time we've tried sitting there, and the seating is uncomfortable. The dining room is very pretty, but the giant chairs have big arms that won't slide under the tables, so you can't move them close to the tables, which makes sitting awkward. Sitting in the bar area has always provided a great experience. The servers and bartender working that area are truly great, and the seating it very comfortable. This restaurant has excellent food, and we've liked everything we've ordered. It is a regular go-to restaurant for us. If the whole restaurant had the service and comfort of the bar area, I'd give it five stars.

  • M L.

This location is just as good as the ID one. The Pho can't be beat. I always mean to try something else, but I just can't say no to the Pho Chin. I really like their new location, it's cleaner and bigger than the one in ID. It's a little dark, but it's in the basement, what do you expect? They have a bar and huge TV if you are into that kind of thing.

Probably the best Vietnamese restaurant in Belltown considering the neighborhood's small selection. The Banh Xeo was appropriately crispy and filled with fresh bean sprouts and shrimps. Good amount of lettuce and greens though I would have liked carrots along with that. The location is a bit suspect since the entrance is like an old apartment building but the interior was designed well with warm lighting. Definitely a place to stop by especially with the late hours open til 2am.

Probably the most amazing viet restaurant I tasted, I really love their Pho and Bun there! It's a little pricy for a viet but it deserves it!

We've been huge fans of Green Leaf in the I-district and it's one of the places we're willing to get in a car for, so we're delighted to have a location right here in Belltown. We stopped by recently for dinner - it's just as good as the original. We really like the pho, the tea. I like the bun bowls and they have some of the freshest salad rolls in town.

This place has become one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. It has satisfying Pho and excellent service. I've been personally greeted by the manager several times; he's a friendly and dedicated guy. They're also open late, which has satisfied my late night hunger on many occasions. Check this place out!

We ordered three items from the waiter, a Vietnamese Pancake, a Catfish dish and a Curried bone-in Chicken dish with Yams. The pancake was absolutely ordinary like you'd get in any Pho joint in town. The Catfish dish was tasty and well prepared. We never got the chicken dish. What we were served instead was a stir fried chicken with some vegetables. Aside from not being the dish we ordered, it was awful. When we questioned the waitstaff we got conflicting explanations but the bottom line is that we got the wrong dish. The staff offered to get us the correct dish and didn't charge us for the wrong one. I think the problem was the marginal english command of the woman who took the order. If you dine here, make sure that the staff understands what you want. You dine here at your peril.

I've been here several times for lunch now and every time I've been impressed by the great food - great quality ingredients well prepared. Very tasty! I especially recommend the seafood dishes.

Meh, it was kind of dead when I got there (dinner time). The food is good, but I got the sense that the waitress didn't really want to be there. With so many Vietnamese places to eat at in Seattle, this one is rather forgettable and a bit pricier than the norm. Next time I'm in the area and see this place, I'll keep driving.

This new location (in the "Labor Temple" basement!) for the pholks who brought you the best pho on planet Earth is sure to bring more de-pho-tees (okay, that was just sad) to the Green Leaf cult. Because I am an addict, and because I only have one shot a year at it, I got the pho -- the rare beef and brisket pho -- and it's still so great! The atmosphere of these new digs is still figuring itself out, but I've got a good feeling. What's gonna happen in that courtyard space? Can't wait to find out.

I am very happy to see such a wonderful little place gong into these digs. I enjoyed fast friendly service. Quality food resulting in a happy tummy. I cant wait to go again and try more tasty goodies.

Cool underground location with an old-rustic building feel. Open till 2am, kitchen till 130, can't beat that. Good Vietnamese food from pho to full on 7 course beef dishes. along with a large bar/lounge area with a huge wall screen projector for watching sports, this place has it all.

  • Madhumitha N.

This place is underground and looked so weird when I went there since there were hardly few people there (this was on weekday). My friend mentioned this place gets crowded during weekend. I am not great fan of this place, but the food taste decent. I have tried Vietnamese food in New York and tasted much better. I could go there if I really looking got Vietnamese food close to my home. Positive: Have vegetarian options Negative: Boring environment

I ordered the mango salad with grilled tofu as part of a livingsocial deal and I was pleasently surprised at the taste. It was delicious, but my only complaint is that the mangos were more tart than I prefer. The salad was huge and was able to fill two people. I usually visit the chinatown location over the belltown one but both are amazing and deserve visits whenever cravings for vietnamese cuisine arise.

I don't know if it was because we were starving but everything we ordered was amazingly delicious. We even considered going back there for dinner the next day. The decor is really interesting and the waitstaff is very friendly.

Best asian food if you're in the belltown area - also very fast/friendly service. Its a little dark since its in the basement but I don't mind. My favorite dishes are the vermicelli bowls, very tasty!

One of Seattle hidden gems! I'm always looking for pho late at night, and this place is open till 2am everyday. I had the combination pho and it was delicious. It's a huge serving two(2-3) meals. The atmosphere is awesome. It's dark and light with candles and has a full bar. My server was awesome, her name was Marie I believe. She was attentive and super friendly. 5 star- great food, great staff will defiantly be back soon.

The pho here is awesome! So so good. Just like the pho I had in Vietnam. The Vietnamese coffee also authentic. I luckily stumbled here b/c my friend lives in the block. Otherwise I might never have found it... cheap too!!

We live directly across the street from this place, but had never tried it, as it's in the basement of the Labor Hall! A bit 'utilitarian' from the outside! But last night, we decided at the last minute to go in, and we were pleasantly surprised. The lighting could be better, but in general, the interior is decorated very nicely. The food was very fresh and authentic, and the staff was really sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back! They even have a very nice bar in the back. The owner came over and introduced himself - very smart!

Normally I really love the food at this place, but I was more than disappointed with what just happened. It was my first time to the belltown location and I decided to walk to get my to go order for my family since it was a nice night. Everything went smooth while I was there, but when I got back home I realized that they forgot to actually put my dinner in my bag and didn't say anything after I paid for everything and walked out the door. There were no options to give me other than to refund me the one dish on my card and have me come pick up the copy of the receipt. Like I want that at this point. If you ever order take out from this place check everything in your bag before you leave because you basically get a lousy sorry if they forget your food. Extremely lame.

  • Paulette P.

The food here is really good but let me tell you something that's a real turn off. I went to their happy hour with a friend of mine. Before leaving I went to the ladies restroom. One of the ladies that work in the kitchen walked right out of the stall without washing her hands!!! I knew she worked in the kitchen because I followed her out of the bathroom. I was going to tell the manager but there was a long line of people waiting to be seated so I told the bartender to tell the manager. Don't know if he did. Yesterday I went there for lunch-I knew in advance that I was going to get something "fried" to be on the safe side. When I walked by to get seated, one of the servers was blowing his nose-right out where everyone can see him. Instead of going to the bathroom to wash his hands he went to a table and placed napkins and chop sticks on the table and kept right on going. Gross! Like I said, the food here is really good but they definately need to have a talking to about personal hygene.
