Outstanding beer selection if you are into German beers. Food is good too, but expect it is a pub and not a fine dining establishment. However, for pub food it is fantastic!

OUTFRICKINSTANDING!!!!! I'm seriously thinking of moving from the Eastside to Seattle just so I can make this place my regular joint. Steak Sandwich was amazing so were the beers....

It was good, but definitely too pricey. Not really traditional German food either

Great selection of German beer on draft. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is always excellent.

This place is a lot of fun. It got a great location that makes me feel like I am in a german village. Its like part industrial and part condominial. I dig it.... The inside is mostly vanished wood and logs. I've never been to a german pub, but this is how I like my German Brewpubs. There are enough german beers on tap to give you plenty of choices, Whit-Bir, Pils, Bachs, Heffs, Stouts, you name it this place has it, straight from deuteshland (sp). and it all feels pretty authentic. The food menu is in German and it has english "subtitles" and all of upon first read isn't that appealing to your average white bread american, but if you dive into something that sounds moderately like you will enjoy it you'll be pleasantly surprised. I've been there with two authentic germans, one from Berlin and one from Stuttgart and they both appreciated this place's authenticity. My favorite snack? Gigantic fried dill pickles. My German buddies tell me that they have lived in Germany there whole lives and they have never ever eaten a fried pickle. Its funny what is actually the most disturbing thing on the menu to them is the thing I like the most. A giant dill pickle breaded and fried. MMMMMmmmmmm...when you bite into it all sorts of cucumber juices explode from it. Try it.. They used to serve beer in a giant boot, but I guess to many idiots would order the "das boot" and drop it on the floor or get to wasted that they had to take it off the menu. You can still get a 40oz. stein of beer here, which is a pretty big ass glass of beer.

We had lunch at Feierabend, a German restaurant and pub in the South Lake Union area. Awesome food and a nice selection of German beer, both bottled and on tap. I ordered the Schweinshax'n mit Rotkohl und Kartoffel Salat, which is smoked roasted ham hock rubbed with brown sugar and sweet hot mustard, served with potato salad and red cabbage. Tastes as good as it looks: Amazing! We also ordered the CurryWurst mit Pommes Frites - veal sausage with french fries and curry ketchup. Good, but pales in comparison to the Schweinhax'n. Service was prompt and friendly. The food came a little slow, but definitely worth the wait. ieatsit.tumblr.com/post/…

So you're looking for yummy German food and beer in a playful setting? This is it! I came here with high hopes and was generally pleased. First off, it's a pub people. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a restaurant or not. But with the atmosphere, it truly is a pub. The beer menu is amazing of course. All served in the right glasses. And yes, they do the boot. And no you can't drink it by yourself! The food is really the star here. The schnitzel was absolutely lovely and served with delicious red cabbage, one of favorite things ever! The pretzels were served with cheese and two delicious mustards. One of our party's members actually lived in Germany for a long time and was pleased with the fare. Which sort of validated our love of the food. The service was nice too. Quick and pleasant. The atmosphere was nice. If you are looking for loud and rowdy. This is not a quiet dinner place or anywhere you would want to have a conversation. Which is fine with me, but be warned. Germans know how to have a good time!

Awesome!!! No longer do I have to drive all the way to Leavenworth when I get my German craving, only to be sorely disappointed. Now I can just pop down to Feierabend for some absolutely delicious, authentic-tasting German food and beer. I am so happy to have found this place. Food and beer - excellent! Ambiance - Nice and cozy! Service - very good! And for the idiot reviewer that can't figure out how to pronounce the name - try: fire-ah-bend. Pretty simple. It means the end of the day.... relaxation time after a hard day..... and also party night... :-)

After visiting Hamburg earlier this year, Feierbend definitely satisfies my cravings for German food and beer. With 18 selections on tap, there are many choices ranging from a lighter pilsner to a darker Dunkel. Really enjoyed the Spaten Optimator and Baron Schwarzbier, for two darker beers. The beers are served in matching glasses, and in 3 sizes: 0.3L, 0.5L and 1.0L, which is by far the best deal. The food is also very good here with a decent bratwurst and reierbekuchen (potato pancakes). The semmelknodel was also very good, although the versions I had in Hamburg were not pan-fried first. Prices are very reasonable too with entrees ranging from $8 to $12. The service was good, even though it was crowded, as the bar staff came out to help. Overall, a very good experience and at a great price.

While at Feierabend I decided to go with the moment and ordered a 1L of the Spaten Oktoberfest, getting myself in training for my trip to Munich for Oktoberfest later this year, when in a German bar drink like a German right? It was tasty but it was a lot, next time I'm going for the .5L that will be more than enough beer for this girl. The beer was flavorful, a nice malty larger perfect for the evening. I also had the soft pretzel served with two different kinds of mustard, sea salt and a mixture of Brie, butter, onions & paprika, at happy hour it was $2 or maybe $3 and well worth the price and the mustards were rather yummy, the jury is still out on the brie mixture. Feierabend has more of an upscale pub vibe than that of a German beir garden which is what I was hoping for but oh well. The service was spotty and the waiter acted as if he'd rather be having his teeth pulled than serving us. He really wanted nothing to do with us and for some people at the table getting a second beer was next to impossible. This unfortunately is another example of a the service ruining the full enjoyment of a place for me, on the other hand the bus boy was spot on.

I love how authentic this bar is, they serve every beer in the proper glass! I am not that familiar with German beer so it was fun to try and they have a fantastic selection. Great atmosphere, friendly service and really good food. Get the pretzel! The cheese sauce that comes on the side for dipping is so good. For dinner we shared the fried pickle, not the best I have experienced in Seattle but good. I had the Spatzel, it was fantastic. Others in my group had the brat sandwich and had great things to say.

I don't make it out to this part of town much even though a friend of mine lives in the same building where this bar is located and I should think about visiting more often. For the beer that is! Anyway, I can't speak too much about the food here since I never had any. I'm there for the Spaten Optimator which is kind of a meal of its own. Service can be a little slow here at times. It took a while for my second Optimator to make it into my hands and a third never arrived on my last visit there. I suppose that was good since I drank more afterwards at Laadla and Bush Garden.

The bar seemed like a hotel lounge bar or airport bar. Like a place I would wait at on my way to Antwerp. It was a cool bar, don't get me wrong, but it was really... i dunno... fake. the food was pretty good but nothing to "Oh My Gosh" about. The bartender/busboy however was a hottie. The beer I got was really really yummy. I've been craving it yummy. It was the Spaten Optimator. If I ever meet you, you should ask me to say it. Then you will realize how horrible I am with accents. Go for the beer.

Das boot! Get a group together, go down and order the boot - you will have a really fun night. :) My favorite thing here is the fried pickle. Yes, I know..it sounds a little disturbing and you may be weary of my review on it...but it is SO good! I have had fried pickles at some other joints, and this one is truly delish. Their curry ketchup is yummy and you can't go wrong with an easy pretzel or anything with sausage (that's what she said...hahaha). I digress...this place is good. Beers are SO yummy and always served in their special glasses. They have a cool rewards type program if you frequent it, also.

disgusting lack of cleanliness issues today with this one. Waitress yapping on her cell phone. Cook yapping on HIS cell phone directly over the food he is preparing. Cook drops pan on ground, hangs it back up. Cooks buddy rolls in off the street and STARTS EATING FOOD OFF THE GRILL. I guess I'm thankful you can see the kitchen from the tables, glad I saw it. The beer is good, but check out those dirty vents above your table as well...

Great German place. lots of beer...full bar...German specialties. i like the pretzels and spatzle. The ham hock was fall of the bone good.

This place is great. I never even heard of it before! What hole have I been in? Two words: curry ketchup. Sounds funny. Even looks funny typed out, but you won't be laughing when you dip your (perfect) french flies in it and stuff it in your face. Bliss. Big fat glasses full of German beer abound. This is another big plus. The wait staff know the beers, too. Ask them a question about beer and they will give you a knowledgeable answer. That's sexy.

My brother-in-law is German, so I've been exposed to quite a bit of German food. He's never exposed me to bretzels and curry ketchup though. He's totally holding out on me and this will be thoroughly addressed at our next family Christmas over sauerbraten. I'm not a big beer drinker, so I can't comment on the beer here, but I can say that the liters are, well...big. The boyfriend seems to enjoy them, and I love the bretzels, so I can't complain at all. And the pommes frites (I still don't understand why they're using the french word for french fries rather than the German word for it, but ok...whatever) are mighty tasty! The service is a hit or miss. We've come here before and the service has sucked...but there are other days, such as today, where it's been amazing. I guess what I'm saying is, be wary of the service when it's extraordinarily busy.

I work nearby so I go here ALL the time. This place is the bees knees. Awesome food. Creative, but not annoyingly foodie-esque. Good german standards, but the highlights here are the weekly specials and the soup. Always on point. The service is awesome. Super friendly people that get your shit right every time. The environment is cool. I've never been to Germany but somehow it feels like you're there. Maybe the industrial building across the street and the bad Seattle weather help with that ambience. The beer is good, and they have a good selection. And, the prices aren't too bad. Anyhow, a standard for me. I wish there were more places like this one.

Went back for another visit. The Jaggerschnitzel dinner was very very good. I'm still on the fence about trying the Wienerschnitzel another time, but would not hesitate to order the Jaggerschnitzel in the future.

What I hated about this place: NOTHING. 1. Excellent service - the server we had was everything I look for in a server: friendly, familiar, patient, made good recommendations, and had me taste test a beer before committing to it. 2. Excellent glassware - I'm a sucker for authentic crap in authentic crap-holders. And I loved my mug! 3. Excellent food - I stayed in Germany a long time ago, and while there, I began an unhealthy relationship with weinerschnitzel. I'd been unable to find *good* weinerschnitzel in Seattle since then, so I was pleasantly surprised by the food. It was really good - and kudos to the curry-infused ketchup, or whatever that was. 4. Excellent decor - it's authentic ENOUGH... I hate places that are so THEMED that you walk out the door severely covered in that theme like a rash: Planet Hollywood, every Greek or Chinese restaurant I've ever been to, RED LOBSTER. This place was comfortable, and easy on the eyes. I also appreciated that they didn't have five huge flat-screen TVs for meatheads to scream at, like most bars. 5. Found parking right in front - this is important to me. I'm too lazy for stuff like exercise, or what people have described to me as exercise. Getting fatter just means there's more room for weinerschnitzel, jah? We went on a Sunday, and it was full, but not *packed*. There were plenty of tables, and the crowd was diverse - which was nice, because I don't like hanging in generic places with homogenized people; if I wanted to hang out with a can of Pringles, I'd just go to the store and buy some.

  • Todd M.

Love the place. I've been there twice with friends and have had a great experience both times. The service has always been very nice.....he burgers are fantastic...and the bier.....well what can I say. But best of all, the atmosphere has always been bright and lively. If you don't like it loud and boisterous this place isn't for you but if you like to have a bite and a bier in the kind of place where people are laughing out loud two tables down and you're making friends with the couple at the table next to yours....Feierabend is where its at.

  • Brad P.

If your looking for an all-out German beer experience, look no further. Great place to go with a group of friends! No better way to start the night, than by sharing a Boot of Beir with your friends. Not to mention, the wait staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. So don't hesitate to test their "bank" of german beer trivia.

I still can't pronounce the name of this bar, and I've been there twice. "Fairy-air-a-bend?" "Fie-er-ei-ra-bend?" As far as I'm concerned, it's now pronounced "That German bar with the unpronounceable name by the REI." And while we're on the subject of pronunciation, let's talk about my only gripe about this place besides the fact that they steadfastly refuse to toast their bread: If I pronounce the name of a German beer incorrectly, please, as my server, don't correct me in a sanctimonious tone of voice. I'm not in a 10th-grade German class, I'm in a bar, and the beer tastes exactly the same however you pronounce it. On a related note, the beer was fucking fantastic, but I still am uncertain how to pronounce "Ayinger."

Prost! Kommen Sie und trinken ein Bier mit mir! We asked to join a table of 5 strangers at their tall wooden table and were welcomed. We each ordered a .5 liter of our preferred pils and weissbier. We "prost!" and clinked with one of tablemates and salivated over their orders of schweinehaxe before we were served our food. We shared a huge order of wienerschnitzel und salat. For a moment, it did seem like we were sitting at the Woerner's Café in the Marienplatz.

  • Julie B.

This place is all about the beer. Large beers, boots, and other glassware. It's a good place to come with your friends to drink and talk. Not such a good date location unless you like to scream over the crowd. Service is average to lacking. The overall approach seems to be get-the-beer-on-the-table. Everything else can happen in due time. A member of our group ordered a pretzel starter, and unfortunately it came at the same time as food. Our server walked past our table numerous times while various group members tried to get his attention, to no avail. However, server-dude did provide us with separate checks when we didn't request it. His stock went up a few points, but I won't be rushing back to invest more time here.

We have had many a fun Sunday afternoon here. I like the food. Hubs lived in Germany for a while, and he says its fairly decent. That's just a plus, I'd eat it anyway. Anything on the happy hour menu is great. I really like the person who went there and is allergic to hops. Don't complain. That's not their problem. And they have big tables for big groups. Eat at the bar if you want it quieter.

Another German bar in the Prost! gang. This one ranks second for me as I prefer die Bier Stube first and foremost. Though the biggest plus about this place is the size. It's a lot bigger than the Stube and they have a gated pool to the side of the main room ~ never been in there but looks exotic nonetheless. As for quality, it's great of course. German food is pretty authentic (as much as you can get in America) and the beer selection is expansive for namely German. If I'm ever in the mood to go out of my way for an experience, I choose to go to Feierabend.

Found this place by accident and as it turns out it's owned by the same person as Prost! in Portland. Both are great spots with a great beer selection and good german food. Well worth a visit.

The only place so far I've found that serves Kaese Spaetzle. If you don't know what that is order it and you'll understand :) Its a little out of the way considering the beer comes in such large quantities you want to avoid driving there. BUT the beer is delicious and its fun to drink out of their giant steins. I know where I'm going this Oktoberfest!

I went for the first time last night for a private birthday party. They seated us in their back room. The servers were fantastic! The only thing keeping keeping away a fourth star is the noise level. Almost impossible to have a conversation without shouting. The beer here is great. I ate the curry wurst, which was just okay, but the fried pickle appetizer and the french fries were yummy.

Great German food, awesome beer, but it's so hard to find seating! My boyfriend and I will usually have to fight off other groups for a seat at the bar whenever we go to this place in the evenings. Good for 1-2 people, but you might have to wait a long time if you have a big group.

Great sauerkraut, bratwurst, and, of course, beer. The service was good too even though we were in a back corner and the place was packed.

I don't drink much beer anymore, but I will make an exception for German beer. This place is awesome!! The menu is spot on and the food tastes authentic. (yes, i'm asian, but I've spent almost 2 yrs in Germany) And the service was spectacular. Even though it was pretty busy tonight, both servers were on their game and kept checking in on us, in the good "we're paying attention to you" way.

Tasty tasty German food! Es schmeckt sehr gut! Feierabend is tucked away from any beat that I'm aware of. We had to hike up to Yale from downtown, and then over a few blocks past the REI building. As I said to The Boy, it's probably best to hike a LITTLE when you know you'll be eating delicious German food. We went on a Tuesday night, arriving just about nine. The kitchen had an hour before closing, the bartender informed us, and we picked a table at random. The place was quiet, with half a dozen other people sitting at tables scattered here and there. On the more crowded days, you get to share your table with the other patrons, or so we were informed by the little brass plaque at the head of the table. Nine o'clock Tuesday night? You've got a bit more elbow room. The Boy and I sought out Feierabend because we'd been missing our Schnitzelhaus from San Francisco, and we both like practising our Deutsch. Feierabend delivers on the food, but is probably not the best place to practise your Deutsch. I ordered die Pilze Gefuellt mit Kaese und Knoblauch....and the waiter heard "without" instead of "knoblauch". Whoops. So I just switched back to English for the rest of the visit. The Boy ordered Wiener Schnitzel und Rotkohl. My mushrooms (die Pilze) came with very yummy Spaetzle and a mixed green salad. The Spaetzle was nice and buttery, and not too bland, which can sometimes be the curse of the Spaetzle if the cook doesn't know any better. Feierabend's Spaetzle is just right though, and an excellent complement to the portobello mushroom stuffed with Gruyere and garlic. The Boy slipped me a few bites of his Wiener Schnitzel and that was satisfying as well. Next time I hope to try the Reibekuchen (potato cakes with applesauce). I nearly ordered them this time, but held off because, well, I should wait and see what the servings looked like. (Large and filling.) I am not much of a beer person, so, alas, I can not tell you how authentic or wonderful the bier at Feierabend is. But the rest of the Feierabend experience is sehr gut!

My husband and I used to love this place. It really was our favorite German pub but after going back 3 times in one week and experiencing the same crappy service we can say we're not going back for a long time. The first time we were there it was during dinner rush so the over hour long wait before our food made it the table we just shrugged off. The second and third time we went specifically during off hours where half the tables were empty and it still took an hour before we got our food. Seriously?! And the "waiters" avoided checking in on us like we had the plague. The few times they do come by to refill drinks, they ran off before I could even finish my sentence... rude.

An evening at the Feierabend is always a great night for me. I love how I can put away a litre of Spaten here and then still want some more beer. The frites are delicious -- I am not a fan of the curry ketchup, but it's not a deterrent and I could eat the fries as a meal. The servers -- one of the male bartenders in particular -- are always super friendly and accommodating. It's a great place to go if you have a show at El Corazon or are meeting up with friends from Eastlake or South Lake Union. I don't know how "German" the place actually is, but it seems like at least a good start. My only problem with the place? It's not always top of mind because it's kind of in a strange little corner of the area and sometimes I forget about going there and remembering how awesome it is.

Single handedly the best Sloppy Joe's in the PacNW I know of. Throw your childhood memory of the awful state prepared Primary School sloppy out. These are culinary perfection. Unfortunately it's a special and only comes around a few times a year; this last week was one of them. Tables of over a dozen people come in at a time and order this thing. But on Sloppy Joe week they often run out in the late evening around 6-8, so go for lunch or happy hour to get on one.

Upscale German beer bar, with open seating that encourages groups to mingle. Good pretzels with multiple mustard's. All their taps flow Germanic brau's up to Reinheitsgebot standards (German Beer Purity Law: In the original text, the only ingredients that could be used in the production of beer were water, barley and hops). I guess Germans have at thing with purity in their storied history. This bar does a good job making you feel welcome and taken care of. Many a good time here, I used to watch Seahawk games here.

Love, love, LOVE this place! Friendly staff, good service, excellent beer selection, and great food. I have never had a bad item off their menu. I always get a pretzel - the light colored sweet & spicy mustard is amazing! The husband and I have ordered nearly every item off their menu during our different visits and have never been disappointed. The schweinshanx (ham hock) is one of our favorites. This is one of a number of restaurants by the same owner. Together, they have a stein club card. I've seen it advertised at the other restaurants, but not at Feirabend. You can ask your server for a card. One punch for every 1/2 liter you drink (not buy, drink!) Fill enough cards, and you can get your name on a plaque on one of the bar stools. Everyone needs to have a goal in life, right?

This is my favorite place, in all of Seattle. Ever. The beer selection is magnificent. My favorite is the Spaten Optimator, which they serve on tap in giant, frosty mugs. It's truly a beautiful thing. I have also always been very happy with the meals I've had there. They have a really nice authentic German selection of moist brats *snicker* and crispy fries with curried ketchup. And all sorts of german-y noodl-y things. Another nice thing is that they FORCE you to be friendly by having long tables with stools as the general seating. SHARE YOUR SPACE. There are also small tables if you're really a frigid Seattlite, but the long tables have provided me with a number of enjoyable conversations. PS- They have punch cards for beer that you can get punched at their sister bars, Prost and Die Bierstube- and win stuff!

Awesome beer selection and awesome tasting German food (not awesome for the arteries though). I liked the pork shank. The schnitzle with mushroom sauce was tasty but I'm used to my schnitzle having a panko crust instead of the wet egg batter at Feierabend. The spatzle needed a little bit more salt but that's why salt is on the table. Curry ketchup and fries are great and the blue cheese burger rocks my taste buds and cholesterol. Good times.

Being a beer snob, this is one of my favorite places to meet friends for a few pints and good food! They have a fantastic selection of imported german beers, and if you are flabbergasted by the extensive menu, the wait staff will be happy to describe each beer in detail and help you make an informed decision. As another reviewer noted..."very sexy." Beyond the beer (which is more than enough in my opinion), the food is great, and is a perfect compliment to...yep, you guessed it - the beer. They've got your standard wiener schnitzel and bratwurst. They've also got pretzels served with a rainbow of different syles of mustard, and fries served with curry ketchup (brilliant!) But all else pales in comparison to the grandaddy of Feierabend meals...the ham hock. I can't remember what it's called in german, and they don't list it on the menu on their website, but every time I've been there, IT has been there. Succulent, brown sugar glazed, fall off the bone goodness, it is. I think it's served with saeurkraut, but to be honest, I can't remember anything but the meat! My mouth is now watering profusely. The atmosphere has been pretty well described in other reviews, so I won't go into much detail, but I do have to say that I love the fact that I can drink beer while listening to an entire Guns 'n Roses album. I think the music just depends on who is working that night, and what mood they are in, but I've never been disappointed! All in all, one of my favorite bars in Seattle. Great beer, food, and atmosphere...which all contribute to a great overall clientele. PROST!

My second time here, I was a little disappointed. The food was pretty good, the Beer was excellent, but we were pretty much ignored by the wait staff for a long time. Eventually I went up and asked about it, and from then on they were fine, but we were waiting for 15 minutes or so without so much as a "hi, I'll be with you in a minute". It's not even like the place was busy (I'd say ~1/2 full). Gotta remember though: Awesome, Authentic German beer. And the food was pretty good too. I'll be back, but hopefully they'll be more attentive next time. EDIT: Next time the service was fine - seems like it was a one time issue.

I have to say, I want to like this place but it's really, really hard for me. I am allergic to hops, that means NO beer. I sit here, in this great place, whilst everyone around me is clinking together LITERS of beer, boots of beer, giant mugs of BEER at reasonable prices and I have a tiny little 11 oz bottle of cider - $10. Everyone's yelling ZOOOPA and I sit on the nifty benches .. zoopa. Everyone else is ordering food, they even put beer in the mustard, my tummy growls and I go hungry. I fear to order anything as the waitresses seem hired for looks rather than brains. Is there beer in that? She doesn't know, will I swell up and die? Let's find out! When we go here, I usually escape ... to Paddy Coins, a place where I can get a cider and some chow.

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but when I come here I always get a beer! (And a pretzel!) My fav has to be the Franziskaner. This place is always busy, especially during HH from 4-6pm, so it may be hard to find seating if you're with a large group. I would definitely recommend coming here during HH any day, they have great prices for snacks and a few sandwiches (and beer). The atmosphere is great, a bit noisy at times, but it just adds to the fun. Cheers!

Great Happy Hour and convenient SLU location. Good place to try beers you otherwise wouldn't of have. The interior has a nice friendly feel to it. I'd recommend it as a great place for groups to go hang after work.

I reeaally wanted to like this bar...everyone and their mother has recommended it to satisfy my beer snobbery. As far as the beer goes, I was satisfied. They had a decent selection of German beers without having an overwhelming number of choices. The menu had uber-helpful (see what I did there, I said uber, cause it's German) descriptions of each beer's flavor profile. Also, there are different size options available so you can drink excessively, or not. I didn't eat the food, but my companion was very pleased with his brat and sauerkraut, which I fully intend to sample next time. The prices were reasonable as well. My main beef with the place was the location. Truth be told, I haven't done too much exploring of the South Lake Union area, but everything looked really sterile and there was a certain lack of character. The bar does its best to mimic European pub ambiance, but given the location, falls slightly short. Also, the waitress was as useless as humanly possible. Besides a few eye rolls she sent my way, she was painfully slow. I caught her ignoring mine and other customers' orders to go re-apply her lip-gloss on several occasions. None of the other bar tenders seemed all that efficient either, though her male counterparts were, at least, attractive. By the way, if you like sports, the TV's aren't conducive for watching a game unless you are only marginally interested in seeing what happens. That said, I'm definitely going back to this bar when I want to be casual and kick back with a beer of the German sort.

If you're looking for a huge pint of beer and quality weiner shnitzel, Feierabend is probably your best bet in Seattle. I definitely couldn't eat there often, but on occasion, this place hits the spot. The food is a bit pricey in my opinion. I had the "Pilze Gefüllt mit Knoblauch und Käse, mit Spätzle und Gemischtem Salat," AKA a portobello mushroom filled with gruyere and garlic, with sides of pasta salad and green salad, for $13.75. My boyfriend had the weiner shnitzel. Both were very tasty. Also, the place is busy and loud on a Saturday night, but the service is surprisingly speedy. Our pint glasses were rarely left empty, thanks to pleasantly busty women in their Bavarian costumes.

I've only been able to try one thing on the menu so far, but, in all honesty, the pils and the mustard passed my test which is probably the most important part. The two things I miss most about my time in Germany was the pilsner and the senf I put on everything. This place took me back on both items. Hopefully I can get back in and try and few more food items.

Good beer. Good food. Good waitstaff. Have you ever tried to explain to a Pakistani cab driver how to spell a German word that you yourself didn't know how to spell (or at the time pronounce)? Do you think that is *real* air that you are breathing? Hmmmm.

I love this bar who's name I cannot pronounce. I took my gentleman caller there for dinner the other night. It was just warm enough to sit outside which was awesome. I ordered potato pancakes which were awesome and although the menu was a little odd in the not-quite-small-plates-not-quite-a-meal sense, we did enjoy the germanness. The currywurst tasted just like we were back Hamburg, slouching up against a concrete wall and wolfing down a dog before going back to work. The boyfriend loved the beer selection, I had a cider, shamefully. If only they did bananaweizen, everything would be perfect!

This place was awesome! It was like walking into a Munich beerhall. Lots of communal tables where you can sit next to strangers and leave as friends. The food was top-notch (pretzel, mustard and bratwurst galore) and the beer comes in .3L .5L and 1.0L steins just like in Europe. I'm not from Seattle, so I can't come here a lot, but I would definitely return. Side note: Don't bring your date here. If you do, you're stupid. And please don't keep turning around to give us the stink eye every 10 min and please please don't attempt to mutter "Shut the f--- up" under your breath. We will hear you. Know what kind of place you're in. This is a loud place.

I don't care how good the food is,one bartender to wait on the whole place on a busy Saturday afternoon is ridiculous. Hire a couple of servers. I won't be back until you do.

How do you pronounce "Feierabend?" No clue, though I think I did ok once I had some beer in me. I'm not sure, as I had some beer in me. Speaking of beer, Feierabend is a German styled ale house. Ale is beer, for those of you who just made it outside of your box. They serve German food as well, but not after 11pm. So if you show up late to meet a buddy and he's ordered without you and he doesn't share and you're hungry, it's your own damned fault. (Fortunately I was able to steal a spare piece of bread from his place as the server was clearing it. I'm a fucking bread-stealing-ninja like that!!!) In honor of not being able to pronounce the name of this place, and also not being able to spell it when searching for it on mobile.yelp.com on my phone and therefore having a bitch of a time finding it, getting there late, and missing out on eating food, I'm going to post a drinking song here. Next time you're having a 2 liter glass of some german beer you can sing it to your uptight Seattle friends who will stare at you and be embarrassed and wish they were dead and also wish they had the guts to do something like that: In Heaven, there is no beer That's why we drink it here And when we're gone from here All our friends will be drinking all the beer!

I originally thought this place was going to be big, but it really was not. However it seemed to be quite the appropriate size for a group of 6 to sit and have drinks and conversation together without having to yell over bustling crowds or needing the aid of biblical characters to cross seas of people. In an unusually humid evening in Seattle, Feierabend provided a well to do watering hole. The after work crowd was out in force and the venue was buzzing. The beer selection is (not surprisingly) the best German beer selection in Seattle. Not trying to spread itself too thin it serves a range of Deutschland's best. This, combined with a knowledgeable staff makes a fine fitting. For me the location is a bit of a knock. Unlike other Euro beer hubs like Brouwer's or Die BierStube, it's location seemed isolated from any other form of entertainment. No, the REI doesn't count. If they let you climb the rock while intoxicated then we can revisit this conversation. My lone point here is, the beer is great and the food is remarkably authentic. As such it's a fine after work or happy hour choice. But for a raucous evening filled with debaucheries, indecencies, and bar hopping, I would look elsewhere.

Excellent German beers and German food. I love this place. If you're looking for a burger and a Bud Light, this place is not for you. Their beers and their food are distinctly German. They have a good selection of German beers, and a good selection of liquor. They make their bretzels onsite daily, and they are delicious, with the salt on the side so you can have as much or as little as you like. The ham hock is phenomenal, though generally way too much food for one person, so I recommend sharing. Servers are very friendly and helpful, though as others have stated, this place does get busy on weekend evenings.

Stumbled into this little Bierstube and have been back many times with friends. The ambience is very gemuetlich, the food seems very like what I've eaten in Germany and the German beer selection is excellent. My favorite is Franziskaner Hefeweizen. The staff is always friendly; there doesn't seem to be a strict assignment of tables to the staff, and the upshot is that they're all very attentive to customers. I'm eager to get to the Greenwood branch. How about a shop on Bainbridge Island? I'll be there every day! My only criticism is that sometimes the music is Merle Haggard and others of that ilk. German music, even if not oompah, would be a big improvement.

I Love Feierabend, why? Because I love beer, and I love delish German food with curry ketchup, that's why! You really feel teleported to German in this one. Decor is great, food is pretty authentic, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Not really sure which beers I'd be happy with, the bar-man was more than happy to give me small samples of anything I wanted to try before filling me up a glass. The best thing, and the thing I bragged about to people post-trip to Feierabend, was that they serve all their beers in the glasses that the company intends them to be served in. If you order a Spaten Helles Bock, it's coming in a Spaten Helles Bock glass. I like it. Most beers come in .3, .5 or 1.0 liter sizes. I had the Gegrilltes Hunesandwich mit Obaztler und Gurken, which is just a grilled chicken sandwich, and my friend was craving schnitzel. I wasn't hungry, but I ate what I could with intention of packing my leftovers home. And it was equally as delicious the next day, curry ketchup and all. They serve beer in a boot, but there are stipulations, like they wouldn't serve it to just the two of us, which is shite, we drank more than a boot between the two of us, we just had it in smaller batches. Jerks. If you're looking for a really good time try the Optimator. Yum!

Service is so-so, ambiance is good, beer selection is awesome. They serve all beers in the "proper" glasses (as stated by the brewery, most of them in Deutschland) but be forewarned - some of them come in MASSIVE mugs! The Hofbrau is the best I've had there, will definitely be back for more!

Tasty German beers and fare. Definitely not a bad selection of German ales, lagers, pils, and weisses. Had the burger for dinner. Probably because I couldn't pronounce anything else. No really, the burger was very yummy. Nice ambience. I wish I knew the German word for ambience. Plenty of seating, not too loud, not too dark. Great ambischnantz. Even my sister, who is a well seasoned attendant to the Oktoberfests of Munich, enjoyed this place. Oh yeah, and love the curry-ketchup.

GOOD LORD this place is amazing. I've been twice now and have nothing but good things to say. Great imported German beers on draft and served in the appropriate glassware, friendly service, a great atmosphere with communal seating, and even good German food. The beers are so good that I actually can't remember leaving the bar either time I've been. Nevertheless, I remember having a great time. PROST!

Got there when it opened at 11:30am on a Monday. They were not happy that my friend and I decided that was the day we were going to explore the option of the liquid lunch. But we were served anyway, mostly with a smile, and the curry ketchup with our fries bordered on addictive. My German banana beer was yummy - yummy enough to make it worth the fact that I couldn't really focus at work for about two hours after returning from lunch.

Awesome German beer, awesome German food. Have spent many a night shouting "DAS BOOT! DAS BOOT!" while pounding on a table, watching friends try not to encounter the Foamy Vortex Bubble of Death in the boot. (Watch "Beerfest" for a tutorial if you are unskilled on the ways of the boot.) Just last night at a friend's birthday, we downed 2 boots, had one broken by the waitstaff, and were placated with shots of apfel schnapps for our entire group of 15. Huzzah. My favorite beer is the Hacker-Pschorr Weisse, the nutmeg finish is vunderful. :-) Kasespatzel (salty cheese pasta with sage) is a good way to start your drinking, as are the fried pickles dipped in three kinds of mustard. Caveat: can get PSYCHO crowded, especially on Friday nights. If you want to go, get there early and don't bring more than 2 or 3 people with you if you don't want to stand for half the evening, badgering drunk people to pay their tab already and free up space. Prost!

I really only wanted to come to Feierabend for the food. I know that it is a German Pub but I had a taste for Pork Schnitzel and Spaetzel. Both were very good but I felt that they were missing something. I am not sure what but I will only rate them as average. I would give them another shot down the road. I am surprised that Schnitzel and Spaetzel are hard to find in Seattle but I have yet to be completely satisfied.

Its pretty much like going to Germany but without the Germans or actually going to Germany. And lets just say its a good thing my apartment is walking distance. Definitely get the Das Boot. it was only like $18 for 2L and the beer was damn good to boot (haha). Get their spaetzle, its like Germany's version of mac and cheese. Some guy at the table behind us ordered the schnitzel which looked tasty, I'll definitely have to give it a try next time. I also got some drink called the Apfel... farfegnugen soemthingorother which was (I think) apple schnapps, rum, and soda water. It was pretty freaking good. Two thumbs up Feierabend.

Came here with people that work at REI for a good little happy hour. Oh and how happy it was. :) I didn't eat anything (damn it) but the Beer is awesome. Get the boot because you will not leave feeling any happier after 2L of Beer. It's all sorts of fucking perfect. Not to mention, Savage. It seemed like it got really busy once 10 rolled around, so I was happy to be with people that were on top of their shit and already had a table. The way the tables are set up is great because it's intimate yet loud enough where you won't be self-conscious about how loud you might be laughing or how obnoxious you might be shouting "DAS BOOT! DAS BOOT!" I will definitely be back.

This place was pretty impressive. We didn't eat anything the night we went, but my friend said it smelled like Europe. I am going to have to try the food here sometime. Usually when I go to bars and want a beer I order a Corona. I thought I was going to get my ass kicked if I ordered a Corona in this place so I got a Spaten Lager "the quintessential Bavarian beer." I don't really know how to describe the taste of beers but lets just say it was delicious, and a half liter was only $5. The girls who sat next to us got what is called a boot which looks like it is about 2 liters (maybe more). Basically you have to have three people order it and the rule is once you pick it up you can't set it down or you get kicked out. One of the girls looked like a champ and drank most of it and her friends were like the supporting cast. She rocked! To get the best experience you really need to have a group with you. My friend and I were lucky that the very talkative girls sat next to us because it made the experience a little better. If I come again, I am going to make sure I drag more people with me. The only downer of the night is when one of the girls sister accused us of staring at their breasts and viewing them as sex objects. It was very awkward after that and the only thing we wanted to do was leave. And no, we were not staring at their breasts...maybe glancing but not that often. This is definitely a place to have a yelp event. I will come here again. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

Well since I work in the neighborhood.... I go here every now and then... Only 3 stars because I have only had 1 food item.....that deserves 5 stars and its not the pretzel but the OBATZER ( Brie Butter) that comes with it..... Another reason for 3 stars is that about half of the time the staff is quite rude and doesnt even say "HI, I'll be right with you" when they are obviously busy.... As a bartender I can see that they are busy but instead of blasting by me 4 times without even acknowledging my presence is quite unwelcoming..... The GERMAN beer selection is great..I think 17 on tap and about 10 in the bottle..... All shapes and sizes... They also have the BOOT.... But you must have at least 3 in your party and put a deposit down in case you break it..... I do like the roataing weekly specials but have yet to try any other food there..... **PROST**

Pretty damn close....Good show.....sehr gut! I went here for the first time the day before I went to Munich. I wanted a comparison point so that if I actually liked German food (never been before) then I would have a standby close to home. In case you were wondering I always knew that I was going to love the beer :) The beers on top here are some of the ones I fell in love with in Bavaria including one of my favorites, Spaten Pils. I had quite a few liters of this in many subterranean Munich beer halls and am now looking forward to drowning myself in it on Feb 1st(the end of my 30 day challenge...damn you Tony G!!) I had a fried gerken, pretzel, and a large assortment of mustard....I offered some of my pickle to the girl sitting next to me(minds out of the gutter) and she shared her schnitzel, spaetzle, and cabbage with me....the food was delicious, what can I say I like heavy food....and it compared well to what I ate over there. Next time I come, I am definately getting the Potato Pancakes with Applesauce(I fell in love with these on my trip). Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles........

Great german bar/pub SE of Lake Union. It's close to Paddy Coynes and offers a similar ambiance, quality of food and beer, and decent pricing. Check out their awesome happy hour for better pricing.

I'm always satisfied after leaving this place. The German beer selection leaves nothing to be desired in my opinion, and they have all the appropriate glassware. I can't resist comparisons with my absolutely favorite German beer bar/restaurant (Suppenkuche in San Francisco, which is absolutely a five star). That restaurant has slightly superior interior design, but Feierabend has improved their food quite a bit since they first opened to the point that I consider it to be on par with the best German restaurants I've been to around the world. Nice job. I just changed my rating from four to five stars.

Great beer and good food. That's really all I ask for from an establishment like this. The decor is a bit yuppy and sterile for a beer pub. But doesn't matter once you sit down with a few friends and have something off their menu. Try the beer with a hint of banana... or maybe it just tastes like bananas... not sure. Delicious. And their brats are always perfect. I would also suggest ordering a boot but must say I have yet to share the enjoyment of a boot since I can't bare to drink from the same cup as the rest of my table...

Burgers, fries, spiced ketchup and cocktails here were incredibly good. I need a place like this in Chicago. Gets really busy on the weekends and there is a decent size group of people at lunch time during the week.

Great beer selection, but I stand by my favorite: Bitburger, brought to me in a tasty 1 liter mug of tastyness. Yum. The food all looked tasty, but the schitznel was beyond amazing. And the spicy mustard..yeah. They aren't kidding. Spicy. Great place to chill out on a lazy weekend, get drunk and enjoy extremly tasty food. Would return there again in a heart beat.

Stopped by here for a bit on Sunday night. Ordered a bowl of soup and their side of spatzl (i think). The ham and bean soup was great - hearty and filling. THe Spatzl is almost like a grown up version of Mac and Cheese - aromatic and lightly flavored. I enjoyed it especially since it was the perfect meal for a rainy wet cold dreary day :-) Menu looked really interesting. Before anyone complains i must also add that the Bittburger Pilsner was just perfect with my meal. In general - these guys serve up some hard-core German fare and i am excited to go back again. I like the Ambience - nice, clean, neighbourhood bar. And it wasnt even too noisy on Sunday.

I absolutely love this place. The food-great. The beer-amazing. There are even options for non beer drinkers (not a ton, but enough if you really hate beer.) The real highlight of this place is the magical service. Even with 10 people coming and going through the evening, our server kept track of everyone's drinks and food individually and brought our drunk asses individual checks at the end of the night. And that's happrned more than once. I love this place!!

Good place for beer lovers. Absolutely awesome if you live in the neighborhood and don't want to drive. Service is spotty -while most of the staff is your good Seattle bar crew the red headed bartender seems to have a chip on her shoulder. I was asking for a recommendation and she gave me attitude about not knowing their beer brands. The rest of the crew apologized and tried to make up for it. The solution is termination, don't be afraid to use it.

3.5 stars. When you can find somewhere to sit, this is a great place to hang out and drink a liter or so of draft German beer (and they have a decent selection both draft and bottle, domestic choices as well). You just haven't lived until you've taken your friends up on their dare to consume The Boot. The staff are pleasant enough. It always seems to me that they are a little short on bodies, but as it is attempting to mimic a German environment, have no fear of loudly calling the server over. There are nibbles - not really a full menu, and after a visit or two you discover that all the dishes pretty much boil down to different combinations of sausage, sauerkraut, and bread. Not necessarily bad, but file this place under watering hole instead of eatery. They are a "chain", so if you have been to Die Bierstube or Prost you know what to expect.

I wanted to check this out forever, but its just kind of out of the way so I never made it. Glad I finally did. Its super loud in here, we had to ask to have the music turned down (which they did), but on the right day this will work out great. Our large wooden table fit our whole party of 9 which was also nice. Good selection of beer and food. I love trying new beers, while none stand out as my new favorite it makes for a fun night out. I did enjoy the food. German pretzels with different kinds of mustard made my day. I also love sauerkraut and could eat buckets of it plain. The red cabbage was good too, I love the cloviness of it. This place is crowded, many who came after us had to stand, we were lucky to score such a great table. Looks like the patio might be nice on the right day and definetly more parking options than some Seattle bars.

Don't get the cucumber salad... it's too watery, and the taste is tzatziki-like. Do get the burger or sausage, the apple/potato pancakes and beer. There is one that I swear tastes like it was brewed with cloves..yum.

Just got back from Munich, and I gotta say, this is as authentic as it gets. The seating, the food, the beer... although somehow, beer in Germany tastes about a bazillion time better than it does here -- must be the purity laws. They have some good bar food -- sauerkraut, sausages, mustard. Nice if you understand how Germans eat and drink -- with strangers.

This is the best German pub around! Share your table, grab some pomme frites and anything delicious on tap. Amazing seasonal offerings so go visit at least every other month! And if you are not into beer they have excellent wines too.

Bier and pretzel!! Maybe it's because I have half German blood but oh boy do I love beer and pretzels. Although this place is a sterilized version of its counterparts (Die Bierstube and Prost) the beer selection is fantastic and the food is amazing. Brats are really good but I suggest a delicious pretzel as well. The dipping sauce that they provide is orgasmic. Go here during happy hour to get more for your money. Try a boot with a group for a good time and don't put it down! No wusses or germaphobes allowed.

I know Americans have this anachronistic system of measuring things (miles, pints, etc), but one does not go into an authentic German bar and order a pint of beer...one orders a LITER of beer or variation thereof. That being said, this place is a great ripoff of Suppenkuche in San Francisco (the owner being from San Jose originally....he also owns Die Bierstube and Prost). Except there are more taps here. Like a seriously good German bar, all glassware is correct. Food is very good....true representations of German standards....try the Wienerschnitzel and Semmelknodel. Germans would all be fat fuckers except for the fact they're always traveling or hiking it seems. This place does get FIERCELY crowded, so if you plan on going at 4pm or later on Wed-Fri, and later on Saturdays, expect to have issues finding a seat. As long as you understand that, stand with a beer and enjoy. Christy will not wear lederhosen, though. And WiFi!

I totally love a place where everything is great on a regular basis. Every time I have been here the service, food and BEER have been fabulous. I usually go for the happy hour and get the currywurst with pommes frites and a few large pints of Dinkle Acker Dunkel. It is always delicious and leaves me satisfied to say the least. The decor is also very inviting with a nice warm glow to set the mood with friends or a date. I don't know what else to say besides PROST!!!!

For one reason or another, we had though that lower South Lake Union was lacking of a good bar, but the Feierabend was a bit of a shock to the senses as it literally is one of the better bars in Seattle that we have been to. Sunday night, before a Monday holiday, we decided to discreetly celebrate the birthday of a cousin and we somehow managed to settle upon the cozy atmosphere of the Feierabend. In regards to price, the cost of drinks are relative to that of Die BierStube in the Roosevelt neighborhood, but the environment is less chaotic though does maintain the familiar German theme including the provision of the beloved boot. As the designated driver, one liter was about all that we could handle of the Spaten Lager, which turned over a check of about ten dollars, but we definitely suggest ordering multiple quarter liters for about four dollars if you love sampling beer. Otherwise, for larger groups, the wait for the boot is a worthy experience and is about two liters of your choice of beer and costs about the same as ordering two steins. Worth a visit if one happens to be wandering the South Lake Union neighborhood. As a note, the Feierabend is so similar to Die BierStube that it could definitely be under the same management or ownership, but we were too lazy to research that possibility any further. So if anyone feels like doing the legwork on that, feel free to enlighten us with your findings.

Yeay! I finally made it! I have worked less than a block from this place for more than a year now, and I had yet to get here until yesterday. Really 3 and a half stars, I think I'd have a better experience if I went with not such a large crowd. It took the good part of 30-40 minutes to order food (never have I heard the term, "I'll be right back to take your order" so many times without her actually TAKING the order). I was pretty hungry, and that made me kind of irked. I'm sure the beer is good, however I'm not much of a beer drinker. Good thing they have the hard liqs. I got a rum and coke with a lime, and it was good. Too bad no HH specials on hard liqs. WTF?? Once I got my chicken club sandwich, the food was definitely great, and that curry ketchup was surprisingly tasty! I'll go again in a smaller group and re-evaluate. Until then, 3 1/2.

I honestly felt like I needed leiderhosen to top the experience. And reminded me of "Essen Haus" in Madison WI, a great biergarten, that saw me through grad school... But I digress. Feieraband is located in SLU, which is not the easiest place to park on a Friday night, but when you get there, it's this smallish pub, great for friends to get together and have a FANTASTIC pint of beer. I can't say that I'm a beer connoisseur, but the Spaten Lager I had was fantastic, and they had an UBER long list of yeast filled concoctions that seemed to please everyone's palate. The soft pretzels with their little dip was DIVINE. And the fries came iwth a side of ketchup. Now that's as common as, well, fries with ketchup, but this accoutrement had a special zing to it... CURRY. I don't think that curry is especially german (maybe it is?) but DAMN, that was good!!! The only reason that I am not giving it 5 stars is that it was LOUD. I may be getting old now, but I'd like to have the ability to hear the colleague in front of me and not repeat "I don't understand". Makes me sound stupid and drunk.... Hmmmm.. maybe?

So I've got a friend who lives upstairs from this place and this bar has become his reception area. He takes visitors generally starting around 5pm and he promises nothing less than great tasting German food and a broad selections of the latest pils fresh off the German freight line. It gets to the point that you just want to go see your buddy do you can drink at his bar, because you couldn't not call, could you? If you have got the Hofbrau house knack, I would say this spot would be tough to beat and you'd be hard pressed to find a Seattle spot that could show you a better spread. Great happy hour deals and food that's done right. Don't miss the spatzel or any of the other trimmings really. It is a bit out of the way, maybe you pair your visit up with a trip to REI just down the street.

Who needs beer when 'Obey' (I WILL!) is workin' the bar. YOWZA! All *sighs* a(sigh)de, this is a great place to enjoy a huge slice of German beer. I'm a big Spaten (pronounced "Sh-pah-ten" fan, and that's what you'll find here. I don't mind payin' $5.50 for a .5L here (minus tip) b/c you'll only need one beer. I'm an Optimator fan, so one was plenty. I'm not sure how much the 'big boy beers' were, but they were huge- 'Slooper Size" if ya get me. And I never saw the boot, but I'm sure someone was enjoying one somewhere. The food looked like traditional German fare, but better than People's Pub- which is just alright. Didn't eat, but I was told that the frites were fab. I really liked that there was plenty of room. The place was packed, but it never felt packed. Great little patio out front as well. PS- Did you know that Jesus wears Pumas? Just ask Mel and Bernie.. They too witnessed this phenom. Zwei Daumen oben!

if you don't like feierabend, you're crazy it gets 5 stars however it has seemed it has gotten a little busier than it used to be, but that's just a sign at the infectious love for this great bar. did that make sense? anyway, great beer...great great beer. the boot is amazing as well. check out this place you hooligans.

i drink a lot. i drink here a lot. frequently during the daylight hours. no one judges. i try to conceal my habit with a cup of soup (almost as big as a bowl, and cheaper) and pretzel (so soft and warm). the nights have a different vibe. serious and quieter, but they still serve alcohol so its not necessarily a complaint.

The beer selection is pretty amazing and they know their stuff. The atmosphere is cool if not a bit snobby - maybe I get this impression as the wait staff is knowledgeable, but not the friendliest and a tad slow. The food is good (not great), but it's not what you come here for...obviously the beer. Some of my friends are in awe of the curry ketchup, but I don't see it. Don't come here if you're planning on talking to the people around you - the games on the monitors are pretty loud unless you've managed a table in the corner which is marginally better - benches not so comfortable though.

even though it took me about a thousand years to find it, i very much enjoyed feierabend's german stylings. (btw, feier means 'party' and abend means 'evening.' WOOO. CALL THE PARTYBUS-DOT-TV.) this place is not messing around--the entire menu is in german with pidgin-ey english translations. they have a proportionally large section for small plates on the menu ($5-$6), which was nice. i had an excellent veal wurst served with frites and curry ketchup. i wanted to try more stuff, especially their sauerkraut, but i'd stupidly already eaten. it was my date's birthday--he ordered a gigantic two-foot-tall beer in a boot-shaped glass (that required a $50 deposit, in case you break it), which was totes awes to behold. incidentally, if you order it, don't call it "das boot." boot means boat. also, everyone in history has already made this joke. the seating situation is a little strange: lots of open space, and it seemed to be either tall bar tables or huge tables for 10 people. maybe i missed the regular tables. the hits of the '80s soundtrack was unexpected but kind of rad. clientele was your regular frat boys and party sluts. the bar is in the bottom of a condo building, which seemed kind of. not. german. i don't know what i'm trying to say here. you might expect that of an asian fusion bistro, but not so much a place that serves spaetzle and schnitzel and has the terrifying black bundeswehr eagle stamped all over everything. i'm thinking they might be more approrpriately housed in either a sprawling former mustard gas factory with a row of smokestacks jutting into the forboding skyscape, or a hobbit cave-cottage in the side of a hill. with a circular door. i guess that's what i was trying to say. anyway, i still really like this place's ambience. will be back. and i don't even like beer.

Great German food. Prompt friendly service. And a great selection of beers. The pork loin, red cabbage, and spaetzle were better than some of the high end German restaurants I've been to. Yum! We'll be back!

If you're just going for the beer and maybe a pretzel this place is pretty good. The food? Not so much. I am a German, so I do have some experience with the food. This was a mediocre meal, mostly because the food was not seasoned well at all. Very bland - especially the meat. The red cabbage was good, but the spaetzle also lacked flavor and was loaded with cheese, which is fine if you want kase spaetzle for a meal, a little too much as a side. The strangest thing was the sauce on top of my pork. It was a mushroom sauce with chopped up bits of sausauge. Our server was very sweet and friendly, but she seemed to be the only one working on a Saturday night so the service was sporatic.

This one time.... I broke the boot. It was horrible. Freakish incident as I *barely* touched it - I swear!!! Tapped the bottom on another glass and literally popped a hole in it. Our whole gang chipped in to pay the $50 for it. But damn.... Now I won't go near the boot. It's too risky, and I'm too uncoordinated. Although for the well-balanced folk, it is a very good time. Lots of good german beers on tap - that can be served in giant, HEFTY, liter glasses....I can say for sure that if you clink them very hard in a hearty "prost" they still will not break. Do you think it really costs them $50 to buy those boots?

I feel like I shouldn't tell you about this place, but with 37 reviews so far I guess the word is out. It's often difficult to get a table, and difficult if you don't have one. But once you're seated, it's so nice to be at Feierabend (it took me forever to remember the name). Although I'm typically an IPA drinker, I'm happy with the Franziskaner Weissbeer. I like that the food is more interesting than typical pub food. Everything I've tried has been good, but the pretzel is tops. It comes with 2 types of mustard and a brie spread. Yum! My husband and I used to share a pretzel. It's better to get your own. And here's a helpful hint: Feierabend is like a cousin to Prost! and Die Bierstube (also great bars). Get a stamp card and you can get it stamped at all 3 bars. After a while, you could get a T-shirt and then a stein and eventually maybe your name on a bar stool! How cool would that be.

This place has a great selection of German beers which makes it worth visiting. The pricing is moderate, and the atmosphere is great, and I can easily see it becoming a favorite place to meet friends for some beers. They have an interesting selection of German influenced food, some of which is quite tasty, though some of the items you order may be quite bland. I would rate the place at three and a half stars, with marks down for the service and potential for bland food. The service is not always that attentive, and the last time I went the waitress decided it was not busy enough to stay open until one, and a full hour and a half before closing time told our table of four that it was last call. We were not the only table present, and she turned away two more tables of people that tried to come in shortly thereafter. Lame service for a pub.

Good, but not awesome German place. The boys seemed a little disturbed when I put away the 1L serving of spaten oktoberfest in a few minutes. It had been ages since I had any amount of it. Actually I think the last time was the German Corner in Phoenix complete with Nazis and such. Interesting place, Phoenix. If I never see it again, it'll be too soon. Anyway. I had some of their sausage happy hour action and found it unremarkable eats. I wanted to try their red cabbage, but it wasn't available ala carte. :( No discount on the beers during happy hour except a dollar off whatever their brew of the month was, so it was about $10 for a liter, which isn't so bad. I'm a bit bothered that all of the local Deutchland places seem to be related. Are they all owned by the same people? Can I expect the same kind of almost satisfying deutcherchow at each? I hope not. I'm a sucker for German action though, so it's a four star, but a three or less for a hofbrauhaus. Savvy?

Once you learn how to pronounce Feierabend, you will feel less intimidated by it and start coming here all the time. They have a great selection of German and Belgian beers, They have half liter to 2 liter Das Boot steins for drinking your favorite beers, and they even have a decent bar menu with your standard German fare; bratwurst, fried pickles, cutlets and other fried fare to fill your belly. It will close early if it's slow, so try getting here before 10 and you have a great chance at good beer.

First off, I like German beer and traditional German & central European food. Since Labuznik left there's been an empty spot in Seattle. Dumplings with pig parts is mighty fine by me. Feierbend doesn't quite fill that spot, but it's as close as I'll get in Seattle. For my taste the beer selection was very good and with some luck they'll have the Kolsch back in stock. I do find $5 for a half liter we were charged for a basic lager way too steep. The fried pig steak was great with a nice tangy coleslaw. I appreciate the choices in cabbage dishes; crucifers are good for you. The fries are pretty boring and seem to be the majority of the plate on most dishes we saw being served. As such I find the prices just a bit steep at $9 considering the fries are the predominant item. So all in all a good taste, texture and flavor combo. A bit steep on price for what you get especially for the beer. For the fun of it you can see the same dishes at all three of this owner's establishments and Feierbend is bar far the most expensive. (Brat and kraut $8, $6.75, $6.50) Must be high rent?

This local watering hole is GREAT! Fun atmosphere, great music, television's playing the latest sports games, yummy food, and of course a fabulous drink list. The last time I went I got the veal sausage, french fries with curried ketchup...I didn't know what to expect, but it was delicious. I'm proud to have Feierabend as my neighborhood bar. Now if only I could remember how to say it...

Good food and good beer, what else can I say? I've been there more than a few times for lunch and dinner. My favorite is their fries with curry ketchup. The fries go well with their great beer (I always order Paulner Oktoberfest or Baron Schwarzbier). During lunch, they serve great sandwiches and lunch specials, but my favorite is the stuffed portobello mushroom, which comes with egg pasta...hmmm. Last time I went their, one female server was very nice to us and we were very pleased, though the servers are always nice! And what could be better than drinking during the lunch time? :) But, one thing: If you are planning a party or huge get-together there, and if I remember correctly, you cannot reserve tables on Fridays. I tried it for my friend's farewell party...but because of their good food and beer, we didn't mind waiting around for the seats!

Great food, great ambiance, and great beer. I'm not normally into German style beers (I'm the IPA snob) but I actually found a Pilsner that I like. You can't beat this gem hidden on Yale, not too far from south lake union. Great place to hang out once they put the tables/chairs outside.

Can't believe I haven't yelped about this yet, but being a quarter German I think it is well deserved. This place does a good job of trying to transport you to a small pub in Bavaria and they serve the right food and drink to match. I love Kasespaetzle (cheesy noodles) and any of the Wurst plates. I also love all their beers, but usually lean towards the Weissbier (light and citrusy). This is a great place to go with a big group b/c of the picnic style tables or make sure to get another group in there and make some new friends. This place is great after a long day of studying down the way at the new Vivace....Prost meine Freunden!

A little taste of Germany here in Seattle. For those that cannot afford the plane ticket to the land of Bratwurst and Oktoberfest, needn't you worry. Feireabend is the place to be when you want to polish off a few liters of authentic German Beer. They got about 15 authentic German beers on tap including Weiss, Dunkels, Oktoberfest, Marzen, Lagers, and Hefeweisens. The prices are descent, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the food is great. It's shared seating, just like in Germany, so appreciate idea that you might meet someone new. Lots of wooden tables, plenty of beer paraphernalia adorning the walls, and a few TV's to watch some sports. Service is great, and if you are looking to throw back a few ein Mas over lunch on a Friday afternoon, this is a great spot to be.

Excellent as always. Proper glassware for each beer. I had the Jägerschnitzel, which was not as tender as the time before, so I really wished I had stuck with Wiener Schnitzel. Excellent meal eaither way, and the 1 liter of Maisel's Dunkel Weisse hit the spot! Awesome selection of German beers on tap.

I always have a great time at Feierabend. I love the fun atmosphere and they have great beer and solid food. I like the schnitzel and the bratwurst sandwich. I also like getting the Bretzel which is a soft pretzel with a series of mustards. For beer I usually get the Franziskaner Weissbier which was a light wheat ale with banana and spice flavors. The beers are reasonably priced at $5.25 for .5 L. Service can vary depending on the night and it can get pretty loud in the restaurant. If you're a fan of German beer and food I think this is a good bet!

I absolutely love the hamhock! Great food, large selection of beer. Cozy and casual, this is a great spot to meet up with friends, or even for a date. Food, drinks, and atmosphere - what more could you ask for? Street parking available and usually easy to find.

Nothing super new here in this review, but I will reiterate: Good times, good beer, good food**. That's what really matters here. Service was also surprisingly friendly and attentive considering how busy this place was!! **My friends were satisfied and full by the time we left (I heard ravings about the schnitzel sandwich). They all loved their food. As a vegetarian in a German pub, I didn't go in with any great expectations as far as a meal goes. I ordered the Spaetzle which was fine, nothing super exciting but it filled the stomach. (The only reason this place lost a star from me is for not having 1 more veggie entree option! I know lame of me! Get over it right?) I think next time I'll just try a pretzel and cucumber salad and see how that goes on the taste-buds. But whatever I still really like this place!

Excellent selection of German beers and served with a smile. The food was somewhat authentic. I've been to Germany many times and Munich in particular. It's say this place has an understanding of German food, but adds a little quasi-American mix with it. I'd certainly go back for the beer!

Feierabend. What I love: -It feels like your everyday German beer hall/pub. Loud, boisterous, free flowing beer and camaraderie all around. The tables, the decor, everything screams Bavaria. And I would know, I was an exchange student there. -You have your choice of beer sizes from teensy to giant liter mugs, and even a boot if that strikes your fancy. - No tables or room at the bar? Well lo-and-behold all the pillars have ledges to rest your food and brews on. And hooks for your coats and purses. What I like: -The Beer. Germans are known for their lagers which is not a beer type I typically go for, but ale options are available as well and you have a large list of Deutsches brews to choose from. -The pretzel. It's big, chewy, and tastes great dipped in mustard. -The mustard. You have a plethora of choices and they are spot on. And I typically don't enjoy mustard. -The Rotkohl. Just like Seiner Mutter used to make. (It's good, go for it!) -Clean bathrooms. Look at the weekend crowd here and be surprised. What disappointed me: -The schnitzel. Talk about the most uninspired pork cutlet I've ever had. Bland -- even with tons of salt, pepper, lemon, and curry-ketchup on it. -The curry ketchup....tasted like regular ketchup. Major let down here. -The rye bread that was supposed to come w/the sausage appetizer? NOT RYE. -That I didn't notice that they had ziguener schnitzel on the menu. made with veal... and peppers. My guess is it would have been leaps and bounds more interesting than the pork one I had. So, overall a great place for beer, ok for food, and not close to real German cooking. I'll still be back for a liter though!

Ein pils bitte! I've been wanting to visit Feierabend for some time and finally made it. It's a few blocks from REI, so I thought it'd be a perfect place to grab a bite to eat and a beer after doing a little shopping. It was crazy busy at 6pm on a Saturday night but I managed to find a spot at the bar. I started with the "Gemischter Salat," which was a tasty salad of mixed greens, cucumber, apple, mushroom, blue cheese, and cherry vinaigrette. I also had the Bavarian Meats bratwurst sandwich with fries. The brat was juicy and delicious, served on a toasted Essential Baking Co. baguette, topped with sauerkraut, ketchup and a tangy mustard. The fries were hot and crispy and came with a curry ketchup--definitely try this if you come here! The beer is where Feierabend really shines--nearly 20 German beers on tap and a dozen more in bottles. It wasn't all lagers and pilsner either--they had some dunkelweizens and other darker brews. I washed my dinner down with a crisp, hoppy Trümer pils. Really I only had a couple of complaints. Sitting behind the taps at the bar was kind of lame--I got splashed with water a few times because the bar staff rinsed glasses inches from my little section of bar top. It was a little uncomfortable eating at the bar, because a very wide, raised edge on the bar forced my plate too far away--I felt like I was hunched over my food. It was also pretty loud, so it wasn't good for reading or quiet conversation--I wouldn't bring a date here. Despite my complaints I had a good time. I'm looking forward to returning and exploring more of Germany's bounty of beer. I plan to be back with friends soon. Or next time I'm at REI. Prost!

Screw Leavenworth. Save yourself the hour drive across the mountains and head over to Feierabend for some true German eats and drinks. We ordered the fried pickles which came out piping hot and served with curry ketchup and optimator mustard. So delicious. The star of the show (besides the giant boots containing 2 liters of beer) is the juicy and delectable bratwurst sandwich. I've never had a tastier brat and it almost makes me want to ditch hot dogs and sausages and anything else that would even pretend to be in the same category of a brat forever and ever. (please excuse me as I wipe this drool off my face while talking about Feierabend's amazing brats)

Not a cheap eat, but pretty good. In the uber-chic South Lake Union-cum- Cascadia district (no free parking on the street), this German restaurant/pub has excellent traditional German fare and a vast selection of German beers. Looks like the real thing, too. In other words, as authentic German food as you will find in Seattle (the owners having spent some time in Germany and previously owned German restaurant-pubs in Phinney Ridge and elsewhere). The Schnitzel Sandwich mit Pommes Frites was delicious, the Bratwurst Teller mit Sauerkraut was good. The oysters with bacon sandwich was even better. High-ceilings, spacious surroundings (no more than about eight tables), wooden benches, huge windows. Be sure to ask for the daily special.

This wasn't what I expected at all! When I pestered a couple of my friends to do a boot, they said they were bringing me here. I expected a dingy, hole in the wall, divey place with bartenders with t-shirts with holes in them, aprons with pig stains and a vocabular that consisted of "uhh, grunt, braaaack, and fuh". It's in an upscale building, furnished with lots of communal tables and a staff dressed in black. My friend said I had to have the fries with the ketchup. Whoa, we are both small peeps but we inhaled a monster plate of those babies before anybody else showed up. Addictive they are. For the next week I wondered whether my face would get all blotchy and I'd start losing teef. I had a burger before our boot event. It was just so so, but was once again accompanied by those fries and the ketchup. The latecomers to our group scavenged them off my plate and didn't growl at them too much, as I was starting to fill up. Now the boot! What the hell, there are rules?!! Plus a $75 deposit if you bust the boot! Anticlimatic, it turned out. The boot made just a couple turns around the table and the boot returned home safely. There were a few incriminating photos taken, but I think they have all been safely disposed of by now.

It's a good thing the man and I have been together for a little while now and I trust his surprises. Otherwise I might have been nervous being driven around deserted streets, past closed warehouses and skeletal construction sites, through the grittiness just west of I-5. "Are you sure there's a restaurant back here? A German one? Really?! I've never heard of it...." Ah, but I had. The name Feierabend has swirled around in my subconscious for a while now, as I remembered reading wisps of reviews about wurst, kraut, German beer, liter servings....And there it was, tucked away in the odd neighborhood that is South Lake Union. What a lovely surprise it was! A menu full of various sausage and meat sandwiches, platters, even some vegetarian options, but most of all a couple of pages of German beers, offered in various large to phenomenally massive servings. Deep red walls and warm wooden tables inside and out create a space to settle into while savoring your drink, or drinks. Being a beer lover, I'll put up with less-than-stellar pub food if it means I can drink something amazing. Fortunately I didn't have to make that sacrifice here....My bratwurst sandwich was great, with curry ketchup and a beer-spiked mustard heavily drizzled over a mound of lively sauerkraut piled into an Essential Baking Company baguette. The man's dinner of garlic and Gruyere stuffed portobellos, appearing with a generous serving of spaetzle and a good salad, was even better: perfectly spiced, with a lovely mix of textures on the platter from the soft buttery noodles to the crunch of cucumber in the salad. Although we didn't try any, the menu also offers a substantial array of small plates. In case you only want to eat enough to be able to keep on drinking. I felt transported to a lovely world somewhere else while in Feierabend, and although the company for the evening surely had a lot to do with that feeling, I think the great beer and out-of-the-ordinary food helped a bit as well. Here's to more of all....

Pretty cool pub. We went here for happy hour, though we were about an hour early. So we ordered a bit and waited an hour to get more food/drinks. The beers were good overall and the german cured sausage, bread and fries were tasty. From what I understand, the corn dogs were also delicious. Word to the wise: I was warned against the cucumber dill salad. I appreciate this german-inspired pub with its very german menu.. we had to ask the waitress several times what things were. The atmosphere was comfortable for relaxing with friends (even a larger group) and the server was not rushing us. Prices were reasonable for happy hour. About $5-6 for a pint and around $5 per food item. I would go back if I was looking for a place to drink beer or have a good sausage.

Das ist gut. Feierabend like its Phinney Ridge brother, Prost, offers an impressive collection of imported German beers. All are served in the proper glass. And the servers can pronounce all the names, which screams talent to me. Having returned from a visit to Germany a mere month ago, I still find myself craving Kasespatzle, Currywurst and dill salads. Fortunately, whenever I get the hankering for some German grub I can count on Feierabend to fill me on up. True to the beer halls in Germany, communal tables abound. Even if you happen to score your own small table, you'll likely be back to back with a stranger since this place is hopping. Whether you're quenching your thirst or just hungry for a Brat, Feierabend is worth a visit. Prost!

This is a great bar for: -Beer lovers -Parties or groups -Social people (seating is communal and if it's busy you share tables) -People who like to drink AND eat Feierabend is great! They serve a really wide variety of German beers and they have great samplers. I was there on a quiet afternoon with some friends and they allowed us to hand pick our samples and go off the menu. Really nice! Each of their beers are distinct and delicious. On top of that, the servers know all about the beers including their wacky pronunciations. I like having a drink at an establishment where people care about the service and the quality of what they're serving. The food is also no joke. It's hard to decide on a dish because it's all so tasty. You have to always get a pretzel to start though!! Just watch out because they're REALLY hot and I always burn my fingers when I eat them because I can't wait to dig in. I've never been lucky enough to witness anyone drinking from the boot but I'm always happy to go back and hopefully get a sip outta that sucker one day!

As general German enthusiast, it is simply serendipitous that we moved into an apartment right around the corner from this place without even knowing it. This is authentic. And homey. And great. Expect to pay more then just any bar because the beers truly are imported and the food is something special. I always go for the fried pickle (which is actually questionable on the authentic front). Can't go wrong with crispy crunch fries and curry ketchup- authentic to the core. Changing specials are truly delicious. You may have to wait for a seat. This place is fairly small & usually hopping. A good sign I think. There is also a happy hour with some great food options and a couple bucks off the massive beers. And I mean massive, wrist breaking, glass liters. I have to use two hands and drink as if it were a sippy cup. And Germans know how to serve beer, each beer has it's own glass. If you don't think it affects the taste, try a Hefeweizen in any other glass. Simply not as good. And cherish a little foam - Europeans are all about the head. Has anyone ever actually done the boot here? I have heard a lot of talk from groups I have been with, but haven't seen it in action. Bring on the boot!

Great German bar. Good beer selection, and has the authentic German taps. They also make sure to serve the beer in the proper German glass. This place has the best Currywurst mit Pommes I've had outside Germany. It tastes EXACTLY like it would if you went to an authentic German Imbiss stand. The menu has other German fare. My one negative comment would be regarding the schnitzel. The Schnitzel here is probably the worst I've had across the US and Germany. For a strictly German restaurant, I was very disappointed. It has a great atmosphere, and is perfect to go to for an afternoon drink, or to get ready for a game. The staff is always friendly. Aside from the poor Schnitzel, I take friends here from out of town, even if just to get beer and some brats.

If you have not been here before and you like German beer and food this is the place to come. I love the Decor "Wooden bench and nice beer mug". They dont have enough TV for soccer though. This place reminds me of my time in Sttugart. I went here on Monday at 4pm and the place was empty. Beer - 5 star 18 german beers on tab - I drank 2 liter of Spaten lager and I was buzzed. I didn't try das booth but will be back here soon. Food - 4 star Pretzel here is great with beer. We also ate veal sausages and they are delicious. Service - 4 1/2 star The waitresses are very friendly Parking - Plenty right in front.

I was pleasantly surprised that such amazing food could come out of a German pub! I ordered the Stuffed Portabella Mushroom filled with Gruyere, Garlic, & Fresh Herbs, topped with Carmelized Onions, served with Spatzle and a Mixed Green Salad. All of it was amazing. I was really blown away at how good everything was. I recall swearing at one point. The beer selection is truly German, the same as Prost's, but should offer something for everyone. I had a porter and I thought it was excellent. The only thing in common with Prost is the beer. Feirabend is much larger and is meant to be equally a bar as it is a restaurant. There is a nice patio as well, connected to an apartment complex. The service was terrific: fast, nice and knowledgeable. We were there on a quiet night so I'm sure that helped. It's in an up-and-coming neighborhood just south of Lake Union but is worth the trek. In the summer that patio must be packed.

This is a great place, always a fun atmosphere. Good German food and beer. Can get crowded but you can always share a table and make new friends.

This USED to be a nice place, but now it has gotten way too crowded and the ambiance is gone. The food is really good and the beer is incredible, but doesn't make up for the poor seating and high prices.

Nice! It's good to see a full kitchen in this joint compared to Prost and Die Bierstube. The Spatzle is really friggin' yummy and I highly recommend it. Nice atmosphere. I was really surprised at the location until I realized just how much new condo/apartment construction is going up in the area...

Love this place! The food, the drink, and the general coziness (gemuetlichkeit) are fabulous. One thing is missing, however. PLEASE insist that all servers learn to pronounce menu items correctly - or better yet, insist that they take a basic German course. Their inability to pronounce basic German should be a real embarrassment.

Good selection of beers. Decent German food that is especially delicious during the Winter months . Not a huge space but overall a good pub and dining establishment.

The best German bar I have come across. There selection of beer is excellent, there fries are the best in town, and if you're into getting dinner there I recommend the swine hawk.(Best leg of ham I've ever had. Fall off the bone good)

Completely surprised by this place - I wasn't expecting anything great but they've got Bitburger on tap and have pretty authentic german food. I had the Schweinshaxín, which is how I usually judge a german place and it passed the test. I'll definitely be going back.

Been there once and memory starting fade. I remember beer, lots of beer and fries with curry ketchup. Awww, memories. I doubt I'll be going back. Don't know why, just seemed like "pub" to me. Nuttin' special.

I should preface this by saying that I love German food. No, it's not gourmet in the U.S./French senses. But that's why I love it...it's the ultimate comfort food. I lived in Germany when I was a kid and then went to university there for a year and go back every so often now. A good bratwurst on a true brotchen/semmel outside on a chilly fall day...mmm...there's nothing better. So it was great to be passing Feierabend on a chilly fall Saturday after an excursion to REI. The perfect excuse to try it out... The verdict: I'd definitely come back, because it's likely as close as I'm going to get to real German food in Seattle. The beer selection is pretty good -- decent selection of Bavarian beers on tap (Erdinger, Franziskaner, Spaten, Ayinger, etc.). The atmosphere is fun-- heavy, long, dark wood tables that they encourage you to share just as you would in a German beer hall. The food is good although not quite authentic; if you can get over that (assuming authenticity is important to you), you'll be fine. My Kaesespaetzle (a sort of soft pasta with cheese & carmelized onions) was pretty tasty even if the Spaetzle were a bit too small and formless. The bratwurst sandwich wasn't exactly what you'd get in Germany (that whole sandwich idea is a lot more American) but was good nonetheless. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a good beer, good Stimmung (atmosphere), and the closest approximation of German food you're likely to get around here.

I'm a girl. I like cute shoes, baby animals, and girly drinks. First time i went here was with my boyfriend and a bunch of other internet-nerd-type guys trying to act tough and drink some beer. A mai tai would have been unacceptable, so i got the beer with "hints of bananas." and i drank it ALL, and had another. Feierabend made me convert, and made me a much more enjoyable girlfriend. the food is also good for bar food. There are vegetarian options, and some salads for those health weirdos. i agree that the spatzel is too wimpy, and the chicken paprika was lacking in flavor. I told our server, so i hope he message gets passed onto the chef. Prost!

This is a great little German beer hangout that will bring out the true beer lover in you. They have a wide variety of authentic German beers which will not appeal to the PBR crowd. The beer is delicious. The pretzel is out of this world, try the spicy mustard. The atmosphere is great. Check out the picture of the two old German ladies chugging back liters of beer.

I love a hearty, stuff-your-face German meal, but I wasn't blown away by the food here. Of course, that didn't stop me from stuffing my face anyway... I agree with Lisa S's review: The beer selection is great, the vibe is fun, the shared tables make it lively. And it's a hell of a lot closer than my fave German restaurants in the US (Walzwerk and Suppenkuche in SF). I'm sure I'll go back for happy hour, have a tasty beer, and then end up stuffing my face again.

I come here too much, I know that's probably not possible. But if it was...the statement would be true. It doesn't hurt that one of my best friends lives upstairs. Everytime I come over to visit it turns into, mmmm I want german beer. And downstairs we go. I've never had a bad night here, nor a bad beer. So I'm ok with the fact I come here too much. =)

My friends and I used to frequent Feierabend in better economical times (ie. '07-'09) every weekend. Good beer selection, friendly and personable waitstaff, and GREAT FOOD. Salads, the spatzle, and the frites are amazing, as are the weekly specials.

After having spent two weeks with vegetarian friends, Feierabend was a welcome meatfeast. Porkchop + bratwurst + ham hock + mustard pretzel. I was in heaven. Great, warm atmosphere, fantastic bar staff and good food. Tricky for groups larger than 6. The Boot counts as an achievement, I think.

Ouch. This place is like a hang-over seed dispensary. Liters and fugg'n boots filled with German beers. I had a schnitzel sandwich that I kind of tasted through the napalm flavored mustarded that overwhelmed its meaty configuration. And then I had hundreds of liters of some of the best German beers I have ever tasted...which, of course, seemed like a good idea at the time. I think I need to go back, try some different menu items and change up my food-to-alcohol ratio so that I don't wake up again the next morning missing shoes and upside down in random shrubbery.

A good place to get your drank on before going out! I liked the ambiance of the place, even though I got there before it was crowded. Supposedly it's Euro-style and you sit down wherever there's a free spot, whether you're sharing a table with strangers or not. Also, I thought it was funny how every beer had its own glass. I'm dying to try the one that comes in a humongous BOOT-shaped glass! I wish I had time to go back before leaving Seattle, to get the full experience of the pub (and to try that humongo boot glass beer!) But next time for sure!

I work down the street from this place and go often. So here is my lowdown: Staff: Really great staff. They are for the most part attentive and responsive. I don't get that rudeness that I sometimes feel at prost. Food: Really really really good. Best German food I have had in a while. Why is there only like 2 other german style places in town? this place is packed! Beer: The main reason to visit. Although it is mainly mainstream german beers, check out like Brouwers or Duck Island for rare german beers. The beer line up is FANTASTIC. They have the likes of: Spaten, Franziskaner, Dinkle-aker, Bitburger, HB, Erdinger, Hacker Pschorr. Stop in, it can be busy but is a really good place to hit after work.

Lived in Germany for a two years and this place made me feel like I was back in my favorite bar on the Walkplatz. Sei gut atmosphere und die bier ist wunderbar! Curry ketchup is to die for. Oh, I'm the "sister" that Catalina D. is talking about in her review.

Real German food in the state of Washington... can it be? My dad is from Germany, his family is still there and when I crave Grandma's home cookin' it's hard to kill the craving without slaving in a kitchen all day. Not anymore! Feierabend's food is the real deal! Their schnitzel is super thin and the size of a platter, the rotkohl tastes home made, and the kassler are fantastic as well! I disagree with their take on saurkraut (they added fennel or caraway seeds... gross!) but that doesn't stop me from ordering it! The beer selection is huge, they also have many kinds of German hard liquor. Apfelkorn anyone?? You can also get beer in 1L glasses, excellent for nursing the entire night. Food orders are a tad on the slow side, even when the place is completely empty around 1-2 in the afternoon, so that's where they lose a star. Oh and a quick German lesson for you non-speakers: Das Boot = the boat (the thing you put in the water and go fishing from) Der Stiefel = the boot (what you put on your foot)

Came here on a Saturday night with a small group, after a class at Hipcooks down the street (which was great). The place was PACKED shoulder-to-shoulder (I would guess beyond fire capacity, certainly beyond the capacity of the bar and waitstaff), so it was hard to get a place to sit and even harder to get served, but eventually we did. The beer selection and presentation was awesome, and the food menu was tempting -- although we just had been cooking and eating for the previous 3 hours, so had no room left to eat. The crowd that night was yuppie + fratboy; I think there might have been a bachelor party going on in the side room, as there were a lot of liter flagons and some somewhat obnoxious plastered dudes in the mix. Regardless, I plan to go back before long to try the food and one of the many brews I didn't have a chance to taste... but maybe on a Tuesday night or some other time when it might be less busy.

Feierabend is our #1 favorite pub in the Pac NW. My husband's family is from Germany and this is the place we take our German relatives when they're in town. The food is awesome - I love their spaetzle with grated cheese and my husband loves their jaegerschnitzel and wide selection of imported beers (although I think he mentioned a particular krystallweizen was missing...) Anyway, the place is always packed in the evenings but if you venture in before 7PM, not a problem. Cheers (prost!)

I loved Feierabend! A giant cold beer and a hot delicious pretzel...what could be better... oh yea... more beer....crispy fries with awesome curry ketchup....and a bratwurst! The only down side is that my jagerschnitzel was just ok, the meat could have been a bit more flavorful but I will be back and often.

German food! Awesome atmosphere. Great place to go for happy hour, or out for a few drinks after work. The pretzels are awsome, and they make their own infused vodka. More of a bar than a meal place, however the food on the menu is very good. Defn very authentic german food from the pretzles, gruken salad to the Jagerschintizel in Pilzsobe mit Spatzle und Rotkohl, in english a damn good pork chop topped with a mushroom sauce and red cabbage side!!

I'm a sucker for good German food & beer, and this place is GREAT. It's conveniently located (lots of parking) right by REI..... Their prices are VERY good, and the German food is freshly prepared and creative... I was really happy with the quality...and their beer selection was great (not as vast as Brouwers though..) I went there for dinner the first time and then lunch last Saturday... they have some great sandwiches and their dinners are well done... The only thing they can work on is they attentiveness.... When it got busy, the wait staff seemed to crack under pressure... but the water was always filled and they were good about not rushing you through your meal... I'd go earlier in the day to avoid waiting for a table.... it's all first come first serve.

Good German beer in proper glasses and sizes, decent German food, and a well-chosen selection of liquors. The third of three German-style pubs opened by some guy named Chris Navarra, it looks much like its siblings Prost (Phinney) and Die BierStube (U-district). I tend to prefer the cozier, quieter neighborhood feel of his original, Prost, but if you have to account for non-beer drinkers, you'll want to go to Feierabend or BierStube. Happy Hour pricing applies primarily to food, but everything is reasonably priced, so don't sweat arriving in time for HH unless you're hungry for cheap eats. My only real complaint with the place is the indifferent feeling I get from the bartenders later in the evening, who seem to find all sorts of things to do before taking your order, even when the place isn't busy at all.

  • mike K.

Go there too often. Love the German beer on tap. Don't let them talk you out of the lemon in your weiss beer, it really adds something. The food is great and true to the German tradition. They fry the bread dumplings, which isn't so hot. But all in all the flavors are authentic. I don't feel out of place there in spite of the much younger than I am crowd. Have yet to see or taste the Sauerbraten, always out. Other items have been well made. Apfel Korn is better then the Jaeger. Try it.

Beer was okay, food was okay, but---tables! I liked the tables. Nice, heavy, solid, dark, farmhouse-type table, that I was entirely content to put my elbows down on for two or three hours while drinking and eating and asking rude questions of my companion, until, in fact, Feierabend (closing time) came and we took our departure.

My first YELP review!!! I was trying to find a new place to eat dinner( i just moved here from the east coast, so thats not THAT hard), it was Saturday around 7:30, and I jumped onto yelp to see some options. Randomly, I clicked on the "German" food section under restaurants and I am surely glad I did. There wasn't many options, but I chose the closest one to Capital Hill, it ended up being Feierabend. I checked out the menu online to see food options and prices, good variety of moderately priced food, (that important $8-$13 price point) so me and my boyfriend decided we'd give it a try. Parking was super easy, we got a spot directly across from the entrance. The place was actually pretty small, not cramped but just smaller than expected. We tried snagging a table but there was a huge group of people that had taken over a section of the place. So we decided to sit up at the bar. We were immediately greeted and was explained some of the beers. The bartenders were pretty awesome. The one female bartender asked our preference in beers and immediately recommended some good dark ales that fit our palates perfectly. It definitely was good to see that they offer different sizes (5 bucks for .5L of imported beer) and they even serve them in the proper glassware. After the beer was taken care of we checked out the dinner menu. Lots of good sounding items. I ended up getting a bratwurst sandwich, not something that is commonly offered at most pubs, and my BF got the weekly special of pulled pork sandwich. When we got our food we were not disappointed with the sandwiches, lots of tasty sauerkraut, and good combination of flavors. However the fries were kind of weak, bland shoestrings(kind of reminded me of hospital fries), but the curry ketchup was their saving grace. The service was super quick, I barely had set my napkin on my plate after eating and the bartender was already clearing it away. We are definitely going to hit this place up again, and bring along some friends so we can get Das Boot.

We stopped in this place for a quick bite and a brew one weekday evening. Nice little place, if not a bit formulaic. Beer was quite good and you won't find some of these brands in many places around town. We had a sausage appetizer that was fair, and a cheese steak sandwich of some kind, also pretty good. All-in-all nothing to write home about but if you adjust your expectations accordingly and show up with a group to just have some good old brews and schnitzel you won't be disappointed.

As soon as we sat down at the bar, the chef gave us a plate of fried pickles, and since he was standing right there, I had to eat one. And you know what? It was awesome! Tangy, hot and crunchy in all the right ways, esp. when dipped in the mustard/ketchup swirls. From that point forward, I knew we'd be in good hands. The food is a terrific complement to the beer, and my only complaint is that they don't serve dessert.

What a nice little surprise when someone suggested meet here to celebrate a friend's birthday! It was a little difficult to find in the rainy Seattle darkness on a Saturday night and it's definitely in a quieter S. Lake Union area, but that's where the critique ends. We enjoyed interesting German beer choices (I'm not a beer lover but my companions were, though even I found something I could enjoy), delicious brats, friendly service, and a clean, cozy atmosphere. We loved the big communal tables and there was just the right balance of people there on this Saturday night (busy but we could still find space at 9:30 for our 10 person group and even could add a table later on when more people joined us). The decor feels authentic, without being too theme-ish or pretentious. It's a great pub that we only wished was in walking distance from our place because we would be there much more often!

Best beer in town and HUGE glasses. Makes a good attempt at being an authentic German pub. The service is lacking when it gets busy, but the beer and best German food in Seattle make up for everything. Too bad about the location - it sucks. Take a taxi!

German beer! YEAH! Brats and soft pretzels, too! This place is one of my faves to hang out at. It's a dark, chill, pub-like atmosphere with a GREAT beer selection. I love Hacker-Pschorr Weiss, which isn't that easy to find elsewhere. Staff's just awesome and I've never had a bad experience really ... To go there, ya gotta love beer, though. Otherwise, it's like going to a steak restaurant and ordering a salad.

Since I'm vegetarian, I couldn't eat any of the food except the fries. However, I really enjoyed the Dinkel Acker Dunkel dark beer. Telling people the answer when asked what I was drinking was just as much fun as drinking it. I also wholeheartedly approve of beer being served in enormous vat-like bowls that take two hands to lift.

This place is crazy busy, all the time. Even though you most likely have to wait to be seated, it's worth it. I wasn't a beer drinker until I moved in upstairs and started coming to this place. They're very knowledgeable about each beer they serve and can pin point for a non beer drinker like me what I like, and they've done quite well. Their food is also very tasty. Happy Hour is great here! (3-6)

I'm not really qualified to review this bar, as I'm not much of a beer drinker. But I did enjoy the $15 sample set (7 small glasses of beer for us to share and taste and enjoy). And the fries come with this delicious curry ketchup. And it's cool to poke around this burgeoning neighborhood and watch it change. As others have noted, the tables are awesome. The service was great, too.

I went here with my boyfriend, who was really excited to go somewhere german-themed in preparation for his upcoming trip to Austria. I'm definitely not an expert on german food, but I was always under the assumption that pretzels are pretzels and sausage is sausage. I was apparently wrong because the menu appears to have all sorts of stuff (although I can't be sure, since the names are all in german). Their pretzels are absolutely perfeccct and I love the brie dipping sauce! The curry ketchup was kind of disappointing; I was expecting something more than just ketchup with curry powder in it, but it was still pretty good. They have tons of different beers on tap, which was overwhelming for somebody who doesn't know too much about beer. I got a hacker-pschorr hefeweizen as recommended by the server and it was kind of fruity and creamy and delicious. My boyfriend got some sort of pils that had a recipe/brewing process that hadn't changed since before the US was an independent country. Pretty epic.

Ach! Es war so gut! Taken there for an early birthday celebration, I was (almost) transported back to Bavaria. The Semmelknodel was as good as any I've ever had. The garlic-stuffed mushroom, the bratwurst plate, the beet salad - all top-notch. Expert, friendly service. Oh, did we mention the beer? Let's mention the beer: nothing so good since that last time in Munich! Just go.

Feierabend has me in their clutches. The punch cards have already made me an alcoholic and I sneak in for lunches whenever I can. But hey, at least if I spend thousands of $$$ on beer here I get my own stein locker?! Shtein. Dis ist meine shtein! But seriously I adore the specials and buy the Chicken Adobo Salad and Salmon Caesar whenever they have it. If you're a food eating champ get the schweinshaxen! Kasespatzel is delish too. Favorite beers here are Veltins and Zwick'l Kellerbier.

  • Jamie R.

Man, so bummed that this place seems to be going down hill. Still great service but the food, man it really just sucked. The pretzel which used to be excellent was hard and stale, it's like t was frozen, freezer burned, thawed then toasted too long. My pops sausage plate looked gross, but I didn't say anything to him, he complained about half way through that they just weren't good anymore and were dry. I agree, at least by the looks. The fries were still good but that's about it. I hate to say it, but in future we will skip stopping here and head up the hill to Rhein Haus.

I only stopped in for the beer. Some part of the restuarant was closed for a pub crawl. They had soccer on the tv. I hope you like Good German beers because theirs doesnt disappoint. I wasnt hungry but perused the food menu. And i seen someone order something that looked so good. It looked like chicken. I will have to come back and get filled up on beer and food.

While the atmosphere is very Bayern, the food just didn't quite make it for me. The portions were good, but I found the food to be a bit bland; nothing really astounded me. Service was pretty good, and i loved that the menu was partially in German. They were playing a mix of funk and Barry White-era R&B - a bit odd, but it wasn't unwelcome. The Käsespätzle and Semmelknödel were better than the Brotzeit Teller and the Curried Lamb Stew, with more flavor and more body. I think there are better places to get German, but for a German pub feel, this is it.

  • Sarah B.

I love this bar, the food is great (deep friend pickles are a must) and their curry ketchup is unlike anything else I've ever had. The staff are always friendly no matter what time of day you come in and I've been at every time of day believe me. They don't hesitate to make your drinks strong and well worth what you pay for. The only reason I give it 4 stars it because this place needs air conditioning. I kind of avoid it during the summer unless it's late because it just gets so hot and sticky in their. Other than that it's a great bar!

Whilst visiting Seattle for a long weekend trip during October, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to miss drinking German beers for Oktoberfest. Of course, I trusted my handy Yelp app and I was directed to check this place out! Thanks to great reviews and scoping out the menu, I went ahead and ordered two different types of beers. I'm not going to lie, the food was pricey than I had anticipated but the beer sure made up for the taste. I was a happy camper! I was sad I had missed their happy hour but the service, laidback ambiance, and a king sized jug of beer to start off my late afternoon of festivities left me satisfied. Would I come back? Sure as hell I will!! :)

Thoughts from a dude from elsewhere: I can understand why this place is popular in the area. With a wide variety of imported German beers (all in their properly designed glassware), an off-the-beaten-path menu, and a relaxed, dark interior, Feierabend indisputably boasts many of the characteristics desirable in a Friday or Saturday night spot. But... FOOD: The food is miserably expensive for such miserable fare. An overfried schnitzel patty served on an overly dry, overly bready, else untreated and texture-less hunk of roll accompanied by fries befitting Jack in the Box in terms of both taste and texture? The poor quality demonstrated here doesn't point to my ordering exactly wrong thing on the menu. It doesn't suggest that the bar had an off night. Rather, it illustrates quite concretely a lack of attention to quality of ingredients and quality of preparation from the top down. Avoid the food here. SERVICE: The service is poorly coordinated. Some combination of six different individuals seemed responsible for a combination of tables and bar stools without any clear delineation and without any greeting of customers at the door despite the definite restaurant vibe and the somewhat confusing seating setup of the establishment. Better delineation of responsibilities appears essential. ATMOSPHERE: As I mentioned in my introduction, most of the joint is sufficiently dark to be quite attractive. That said, a few issues detract. 1) Unforgivably poor lighting in immediate proximity to the exposed kitchen. 2) Confusing seating (overly large tables fitting multiple parties that may inadvertently expose you to undesirable conversations). 3) Hair-thin aisles in which servers must move twixt. Bumps and jostles should be expected. VERDICT: Drinks only. But given lack of proximity to other high quality venues, I'd opt to avoid it altogether. 2 stars for food 2 stars for service 3 stars for atmosphere 5 stars for drinks 3 stars overall

Very pub-like, as you might expect. The decor is spot on, and the service is nice if a bit harried. I've been here a couple of times now, but always because someone else wanted to try their extensive European beer collection, or their sausage-y meats. Neither of which are high on my priority list unfortunately! I'm a cocktail drinking vegetarian...

I came and the kitchen closed super early. When I asked the bartender she directed me down the street. I had also wanted a drink but instead she said sorry about the food and walked away from me. The bar is pretty small so she chose to avoid me for several minutes up until I got up and walked away. It was my first and last time going to that bar. Very poor service, I'm confused as to why it had great reviews.

Five stars for food and drink. Unfortunately, only one star for service. A smile goes a long way and I didn't get as much as a smirk. The friendliest person in the place was the cook. He greeted me and asked how my day was when he was getting himself some water. Now for the food. The pretzel was meh. The blackened salmon caesar salad was amazing and the brat sandwich was delicious as well. I don't know much about German food, so I canny say whether it was authentic. All I can say is that I truly enjoyed it.

I love this bar for the German feel. Always a good deal of tasty deutsche Biere on tap (no 'murican swill here), and you can get it in the proper 1L mug size. Very easy to talk with others, tables are set to foster collective chatter. Food is good and reminds me of Germany, but isn't great and falls short in some areas. I had the Jägerschnitzel & Käsespätzle, and the schnitzel was good, but I felt not crispy/breaded enough. The Käsespätzle was absolutely great though. Friend got currywurst and it looked and smelled good, but I feel it could have used a lot more curry ketchup. Definitely one of my favorite after-work locales and they've got a nice central tv for sports. Expect it to be busy when the mariners/sounders/Seahawks are playing! 4.5/5 Edit 8/22: changing this to a five-star due to repeated great service. Prost!

I love this place, tasty beer, nice atmosphere, amazing food especially specials. Chicken specials, and sausage sampler with 3 sausages are our favourites.

Alright after the German brutal win over Brazil, I had to celebrate at a German restaurant. Found this place close by and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options available. Though I had my heart set on stuffed portabella mushrooms, I ordered the vegetable strudel. Veggie lovers - if you have tried and loved apple strudels then this is the place to come and try the savory side of a strudel! Crispy layer stuffed with a spinach-ricotta cheese blend combined with whole and mashed potatoes, onions and bits of red chilli. Damn tasty! Also ordered the Ayinger bier - light wheat ale perfectly complements the strudel. Awesome service and great place to live the German spirit. Ambience is like a pub in Germany and the decor signifies it's rich culture in sports, food and beer. Point to note - kitchen closes at 10pm on weekdays - but the pretzel with cinnamon sugar is a treat by itself. Gotta try this the next time!

I'm a fan of the location because of the parking situation. There's plenty of street parking and it's stop paying after 6 PM vs 8 PM like many other locations in and around Seattle! I actually parked right outside for free. Maybe it was a one time score. I can't speak much on the food since I didn't order any. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of German food, but was meeting a friend who chose the location. They have a pretty good selection on beer. Bartenders were prompt. Place was pretty busy. They have a few outside seats too. That is all I have to say.

Ironically, this place is a sausagefest. Large groups of guys congregate for the great beer selection, available in a variety of sizes. Single ladies, take note. Food looks good, servers are friendly, great place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Great food but you can't walk through the door without current ID. Guess the wait staff can't tell age since I am 60 yrs old. Place is almost empty so wait staff has lots of time to serve you after asking half the customers to leave.

Beer selection continues to improve but I forgot to mention the service-- big party or small the servers are right there and attentive, meaning you rarely have to worry about a nearly empty stein.

This restaurant satisfies some genetic memory hidden away in the German part of my heritage (which is on both sides, if you ask my grandma with the paid Ancestry.com account). On the recommendation of someone we met right after moving to Seattle, my boyfriend and I tried Feierabend our first week here. We have returned frequently! I love everything about this restaurant although the currywurst is probably my absolute favorite. My other favorite is the option to get three different sizes of beer, because the .3L is usually enough for me. The full liter mugs do look impressive though!

The best no-frills German tavern we found in Seattle. Great beer and casual environment. The food is good (for a tavern) although they could have a broader menu. My wife and I usually share a pork schnitzel and a dumpling. It is a great combination and enough for two.

What a great German styled bar in the middle of Seattle! We ordered a pretzel, a salad and the french fries. Man on man, were they all delicious! The pretzel was massive and the serving of fries could have served a small village. I really enjoyed all the dipping sauces for the pretzel. Friendly staff and we were about to find parking not too far away. Great ambiance.

The food and beer here is always delicious. However the service here every time has been consistently slow and unattentive. It's always a pro and con debate of whether we should revisit each time given the semi atrocious service. If you don't mind an over extended server who pays you little attention for the exchange of pretty good German pub food, it might be worth a shot.......

Checked this spot out right next to REI a few days ago. My friends and I went for happy hour which runs from 4-6 pm. The happy hour food menu was pretty good, with an assortment of things for $4-6. Literally every single one of these items was fried, however, so there aren't any even remotely healthy options. I honestly don't recall what the happy hour drink specials were - I believe it may have just been $1 off one of the beers on tap. Not surprisingly, the place was full of guys. I think other than myself and two other women, the entire bar was men finishing their day at Amazon. This isn't a good or bad thing, just something I noticed (and it wasn't even a football day). All in all, it was fine but I'm not dying to go back anytime soon.

Great selection of German beers. Only one TV, but if there's a marquee game, you can count on it being in the background. Atmosphere is very laid back. There's plenty of street parking! The food is delicious. I mean sure, it's not fine dining and the food may not be the healthiest, but at least it's bar food done right. Never once did I walk away feeling that the meal was not satisfying or that I should've never had those calories. The ham hock is pretty awesome; it's flavorful, not fried, and perfectly paired with super buttery spatzle. After I had curry ketchup with my fries, I couldn't go back to regular ketchup.

Lots of people during happy hour. There are lots of seat yourself communal tables. Grab a table outside if it's nice out. I didn't have any of the beer, but there were quite a few kinds. The variety of food was okay. I've definitely had better sausages elsewhere. But the pork loin with mushroom sauce is pretty good. Fries with curry ketchup is a must have.

Normally not a yelper or a complainer but last night the male waiter screamed at me. I normally love going there with co workers after work but on several occasions I've encountered the same bad service from the same waiter. Sad it's the only bar in north south lake Union that worth going to but the service is so horrible they are sending away a lot of their business. But if you can deal with a bad service and want a good hh it's a great place to go.

The weiner-schnitzel is a solid choice, and really hits the spot when you're 2 liters deep in a German pilsner. Good beer selection, hitting all the right notes when it comes to German brews, a friendly staff, and an ample bar. I'll definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Taylor H.

This bar is low-key, but that doesn't hold you back from a good time. Very communal and has a great selection of German beer. The food is also delicious and authentic. Schnitzel cooked to perfection, I've never been disappointed. Do yourself a favor and grab a punch card on your first time through, because you know you will be coming back.

  • Elle K.

I love their happy hour :) It's cheap and the food is REALLY yummy! I get the sliders and fries and it only comes out to $5. the beer is great too! I just have issues pronouncing the names of the beers since they're in German lol The only thing that irked me was when the waiters get really impatient when the bar gets really busy. I know that it's busy and crowded but that doesn't call for eye rolls or sass. But I understand how that can happen since it was a REALLY busy and crowded night.

  • Arleen C.

The atmosphere was really nice. The music wasn't blaring so we could hear everyone talking. There was a huge selection of German beers in different sizes. Get the 0.5L as that was the most economical choice! The pretzel was amazing. It was so soft and fluffy and tasty. The fried pickles were tasty but I'm used to mine in thinner slices and wished they had done that here. But that's a personal taste preference so I won't knock them on that. The pickles weren't too tart and weren't soggy which was nice. Wasn't a fan of the dumplings. The sauce was tasty but those dumplings were dry. Even the tasty sauce wasn't enough to make up for how dense and dry the actual dumplings were. Now let's talk about the service because this is why I gave it 3 stars. Every server we encountered was really nice except one. The guy in the baseball cap was really friendly and helpful. The woman was really on top of things and really quick about everything. Now onto the server who was a total d-bag. Right off the bat he seemed like he didn't want to be there. He seemed like he was just dumped or been rejected by someone because he was a total sour puss the entire night. He was so impatient, unfriendly, and downright hostile. We were all smiles and just ordered things promptly, weren't rude etc and he was just such an a-hole. If he doesn't like his job, he should quit. Being openly rude to customers for no reason is uncalled for.

I will say the beer selection and atmosphere is nice (no A/C so be prepared for it to be hot), but the service is TERRIBLE. Young, nice females, be warned!! Apparently male bartends here see you as targets to bully. Their bartender Alex was the most condescending, a**hole food industry worker I have ever met. Kept calling me 'sweetheart' and argued with me about how I didn't leave him a big enough tip. he even yelled at me and my group of friends to leave as we walked for the night (wtf?). The manager Ryan was a nice guy and tried to make up for his employees inappropriate behavior, but still couldn't believe it.

Awesome place. You could say that I'm partial to German bars though. I spent a lot of time at Shultzy's in college which is probably why. Great food, I got the bratwurst sandwich. Beer's are typical German beers - you can't go wrong with any of them. But service is great! If you're here for lunch, be warned - don't order the fries or you'll end up taking a 2pm nap - so many fries.

This is my home bar. The staff is very efficient and friendly. Delicious pub food with a rotating special that starts every Friday. The German beer is excellent. Their is a loyalty punch card system, you can earn a shirt, stein, hat, your name on the wall, and more. I've had friends' birthdays and going away parties here.

Feierabend is right behind Lo-fi and because of that. I have been here a few times. This place has great food and great (big) beer selection! Each time I have come here it has been really busy but I am amazed by how well the staff handles it. I have never felt like I had to grab someone. All of their food is savory! Their happy hour fried pickles are huge. It seems like they make most things for everyone to nibble on which continues to make this place great for groups. The size is large but still cozy. As mentioned in other reviews this is a particularly social bar which makes it all the better!

    (4)
  • Gene K.

The beer selection is great and the food is pretty good too. If they could only fix their service issues (can be hit or miss, depending on the staff and where you're sitting), it'd be a very solid neighborhood go-to spot.

Highly recommend! If your looking for the German beer but without the obnoxious frat boys at Von Trapps. It's small and cozy, the staff are great and it's easy to get to. We went here after seeing the lion king at the paramount, and met up my sister and her boyfriend. The atmosphere was great for talking and the place was pretty empty at 10:30 on a Saturday! Haven't tried the food, but I still recommend it! Def. will go again :)

The beer was delicious. The service wasn't bad, but I got sick from eating the schnitzel sandwich. I ate about half of the sandwich; I gave the other half to my partner. When I got home I threw up the entire meal. The next morning my partner was throwing up from the sandwich as well. Great beer, terrible food. Never ever eating here again.

We came across this place on Yelp after searching for a pub to eat a late lunch on a Thursday. I ordered the vegetable marinara sandwich, which was a 4th of July special that only goes until sometime mid July. The sandwich was great! It came with squash, zucchini, and eggplant smothered in marinara sauce and topped with cheese served on garlic french bread with a side of fries. The fries were ok but I kept eating them because I loved the curry ketchup. Service was great and the authentic German beers were good.

The service isn't very good. There are two bartenders and no servers for the entire bar. They asked us what we wanted and after my wife ordered he just left without taking my order. Food is good and comes out fast but needs to be seasoned.

  • Mark M.

I ordered the wurst sampler and a liter of one of their dark lagers. The platter was served with an excess of delicious sauerkraut and horseradish and stone ground mustards. Overall the meal was great. They also have a kind of stamp card system where you can "earn" rewards by buying liters of beer. The only downside is that the lighting fixtures hung from the ceiling and partially blocked my view of the big screen.

I love this place as a bar with its cute, cozy interior and wide selection of German beers! It is my husband's favorite bar. It has such a nice local neighborhood German vibe. Love the neat way they give back to their regulars with it's stamp card reward system. The regulars who have filled quite a few stamp cards have their own beer glass and some even have their own locker and bar stool. I just don't think I will be craving any of their food anytime soon although everything was overall tasty. I really liked their Schnitzel Sandwich, but every so often would get a bite which had an overpowering horseradish flavor in the sauce. I noticed this in the sandwiches I tried at their other bar Prost!. I feel like maybe they should give an option for less strong horseradish versions of their sandwiches for us wooses. It was interesting trying the German traditional curry ketchup. I enjoyed it on the fries. The Bratwurst Sandwich came with the curry ketchup and mustard already on it. I would have rather had the curry ketchup and a few mustards to choose from on the side.

Based on the website, I thought this was more of a restaurant. It is in fact a bar with a German theme, a frat like atmosphere, and pretty substandard German food. I had the Spaetzle with mushroom and sausage gravy and got a bowl full of bland mush. Really disappointing as Spaetzle is one of my favorite things ever. The service was fine, no complaints at all here, but there is more to German cuisine than a liter of beer.

The place: Such a fun German bar! The servers are part of the experience, because often they're funny and engaging. Sometimes it's hit or miss, the guy servers are usually spot on but the last time I was there a female server forgot a few things that we asked for. No bigs. On the weekend evenings/nights they play awesome 90's hip hop. The food and beer make us go there, and then the music keeps us around. The food: Get the ham hock. And their soups are good. Their pretzels are good, but not as good as Bravehorse pretzels. Don't get coffee here, it's gross. Coffee is food, right? There's a room in the back that can be reserved for private parties. Even on weekends it doesn't get too crazy, we've always been able to find a table. Parking is not bad, and there's a pretty good chance you'll get to see someone try to chug a liter - or better yet, you can try it yourself.

I returned here today after a long absence, mostly to watch the World Cup 2014 semifinals and cheer on Germany against Brazil (7-1!!!). Low and behold, the place was full of ACTUAL Germans! If anyone tries to tell you that Von Trapp's is a suitable alternative for Feierabend, don't listen. Both places have their pros and cons but for the best Deutsche Bierhalle experience in Seattle, Feierabend takes the cake. It's simple, got great beer, decent food. It's even occasionally possible to find somewhere to sit. Pro tip: If you order the Currywurst, they'll even offer you a choice of fried vs. boiled. I went all Konnopke's Imbiß on that one (fried).

Friendly staff, delicious food, and not to mention a killer happy hour. The beer selection includes a number of German imports including a few different Kolsch's (which are typically harder to find in this IPA world). My husband and I have actually already gone here twice over the span of a month. Once for his birthday and another time when we had family visiting us from Chicago. To say that we hit their Happy Hour menu hard, would be an understatement. We have officially had everything on their HH menu now. My favorites are definitely the Currywurst (which you can get either fried or boiled - boiled is my preference), the Fried Pickles were also really nice and tart - where the pieces were almost chunks of pickle rather than the typical dill slices. The last time we were here - we ordered 4 orders of Maise Wurst - a German Corndog. The breading was delicious but the wurst was so hot that when we all dived in at the same time it ended with us all screaming in horrifyingly hot steam burns. SO: if you get the Maise Wurst, please give it at least a minute. The SemmelKnodel mit Pilzrahmosse which is: Bread Dumplings with Gravy is delicious. I know it sounds strange, but get it. Thank me later. The Schnitzel Scheiben which is a Petite Schnitzel with Fries fulfills the inner Midwest with me with basically a deep-fried Pork Tenderloin and crunchly crisp - perfectly fried-fries (with their Curry Ketchup, of course). The beers are cold and delightful, the HH menu extensive and generous (for the food more so than the beers) and the service friendly and unobtrusive. I'll be back, I'm already daydreaming about that Currywurst...

  • Ken C.

I use to really enjoy this place but in the past two years it has been on a steady decline. The employees seem much more interested in conversing with each other and checking their text messages than helping the customers. The schnitzel is over cooked and dry and the beer selection has stagnated. A few hours at REI and Feierabend use to be one of my favorite things to do on a rainy Seattle day... now I'm going to start skipping the later of those two.

A popular neighborhood watering hole serving up authentic German beers and food. They have a wide range of authentic cuisine, and even salads and appetizers that will appeal to people who don't love the heavier German food. The beers are top notch, and come in 3 sizes just like your favorite German beer hall. The atmosphere was great for the World Cup games, and people seemed very friendly and familiar with each other. They clearly have a strong following of locals because you can get a punch card to earn prizes after drinking hundreds or thousands of pints. You can even earn your own bar stool or stein locker, so your cup is always ready.

  • Jeremy T.

My co-workers and I went there looking for some good German food. I was kind of disappointed. The Schnitzel was not beaded and the Rotkohl tasted to pickled for my liking. The service was pretty good, but I can not recommend this place for German food, st least not the Schnitzel,

Met here on a Wednesday night with a friend and parking was easy to find...and the beer was good. Was very happy with my burger and fries -- they gave me TONS of fries. So much so I had to share it with my friend. The burger was HUGE as well...split it with my friend who also polished off his food, too! I can't wait to come back.

The place is very similar to a restaurant you may find in Germany. Simple, low-key, great selection of beer, very good German food, service is quick. Very good value for your money. Perfect place to go with friends.

Again in feierabendt! I just had the Pommes Frites with curry ketchup sauce. I got half liter of their Ayinger Celebrator. It is delicious and cheap. The staff gives you samples of beer if you really are undecided. Music and noise level are quite loud, but it is normal when you think of it as a cool German pub where there are a lots of peeps out there. I am always happy when I hang out there! Happy Hour from 3 pm to 6 pm everyday!

I can't believe I have never been here. They have a great selection of Bavarian beer (served in the appropriate vessel). It has the feel of a beer house I visited in Frankfurt. They have a great Happy Hour. I ordered the spatzle to start. It was a generous portion of buttered noodles with a great onion flavor. I also had the petite schintzle with fries. The fries were just ok, but the schnitzle was perfect; crispy pork goodness. My wife got the potato pancakes with apple sauce. I thought they were a little heavy with the sauce. I loved the mix of people; there were the D&D people playing in the corner, punk skaters, and families. It seems like a place to sit enjoy a great beer and the company you are with and maybe the others at the communal tables.

  • Emma F.

Possibly the most fun place to grab a beer in Seattle. The tables are communal and you usually end up meeting cool people. Last time we were there we had brought card games and ended up playing Flux with a group of "strangers". It was a total blast. As far as the beer and food goes, it's great. I like the pork knuckle and sauerkraut the best but pretty much everything I've had has been good. They also have a stagering collection of beers which the sell in varying sizes. Drink enough and you get your own stein. Overall just a fun, friendly place to go have a pint and some dinner while possibly meeting new people.

  • Mark Richard B.

Fun, casual high ceilinged totally German bar/restaurant. Super-enjoyed the authentic menu and wide swath of beers. Get a cool Stein Club card to be punched to join their beer-drinking club and make your way to up the list to all kinds of Bavarian swag including a beer locker and your own Lederhosen.

Came here on New Years Eve as part of a bar crawl with my friend. I was hoping for more beer choices, but unfortunately the menu they gave us was a lot shorter than I expected. In addition, instead of asking if we wanted something else they gave us the bill and kept looking to see if we'd paid it. Since the bar didn't close for another hour we were confused about why they were in such a hurry to kick us out. We ended up leaving since it was obvious they were trying to get rid of us, but it kind of killed the night since we had planned to stay there until it closed (it seemed to late to find another place to go).

As an avid lover of all things German, and a person who has spent much time across the pond, I will first speak to Feierabend's authenticity. It feels very much like a beer hall, looks like you're in Germany and, above all, TASTES like you're in Germany. Granted, I've only had the brat, but the beer and food combine to make me forget all my star-spangled woes. The ambiance is great. I've only been there at night, which helps contribute to my rathskeller perception of this establishment, but I'm sure it would be fun any time. The service is pretty German if I do say so myself. Friendly, and incredibly helpful, but if the place is packed, it may be easier for you to order at the bar. I know what you're thinking, but you wouldn't tell a French waiter to hurry up the courses, would you? Feierabend is a delicious and fun way to spend a mealtime or beverage time.

Pig feet with a beer. Life can't be better! This restaurant locates in heart of Seattle. Surprisingly Easy for parking. All wood decoration and nice atmosphere. Wide selections of beer. Bon appetite!

Need a guy's type of beer-clunking-small-plate-appetizers? Definitely come here. The location is fairly hidden but it's a great place to go for happy hour if you're in the Southlake Union and just looking for a beer. Unfortunately I am not a beer drinker but the atmosphere and setup was great. The service was very tentative. I must say you can probably order a "plethora" of beers at this location. Definitely worth exploring if you're looking for some authentic finger foods as well. Dishes ordered: None

I love this bar! It is a great local bar and the bartenders here are great and will remember you if you frequent the place. I still love it even though I had to leave when my brother's girlfriend forgot her ID, you can't fault a place for refusing service if you don't have the legally required identification. (I only mention this because in a previous review, a customer complained that she wasn't served because she failed to bring proper ID). The beer, cider and food that you get here are not your typical bar food or beer, so don't come here if you want pizza and a Bud Light. They have a decent selection of German inspired food. I love the spaetzle (sp?) and the potato pancakes with apple sauce (which makes sense because I'm a mac and cheese lover and I'm obsessed with hashbrowns) This is a chill place to hang out with friends, but it can get a little busy sometimes and it can be hard to find a seat...so you might find yourself waiting awhile for a table. However, the patrons here are usually pretty nice and European style seating is encouraged, so if you're bold someone will probably let you share their table.

    (4)
  • Chris D.

Feierabend is about sitting on benches with friends drinking large vats of German beer and absolutely nothing else. If you're looking for comfortable chairs, fancy lighting, specialty cocktails or being seen, go somewhere else. Hell, you might even have to share a table with complete strangers. Oh, the horror. I can't wait to drink 98 more liters and get my very own stein with my name on it!

I really wanted to like this place. Like REALLY BIASED-LY wanted to love it, but I don't. The first time I went there our waiter didn't want us there and he wasn't subtle. He seemed annoyed when we sat down and ordered and relieved when I hadn't brought the correct ID (actually I had an ID but he said it wasn't "valid".) I gathered every possible form of ID out of my wallet and he never even came back to out table. I wasn't even trying to order alcohol. We went back on Saturday and the wait staff was lovely. They were busy but attentive and accommodating. I can't speak to the beer because I don't drink, but the food was very bland and disappointing. Es schmeckt nicht wie Mutti's Kochen. I'd get the pretzel because you can't really mess that up and the mustard war nicht schlect.

  • Ross C.

My gf took me here because she is a fan of German food and she likes this place. It wasn't too busy so we got a spot at a table and immediately got served. The beer selection is nice. I love how seriously Germans take their beer and you can taste the seriousness. I had a Trumer Pils which was delicious. For food I had the Wiener Schnitzel Vom Schwein Mit Rotkohl Und Pommes Frites. I'd always wanted to try this hilariously named dish. The pork filet was tasty but a bit dry, the red cabbage and fries were just right. I definitely want to come back to try some more beers and food. It is a fun place with nice servers and I just can't help but like German cuisine.

Came to this German Pub after an underwhelming dinner experience at Cal's on a Friday night... Feierabend saved the day! This place is all about German biers, which is something I can totally get behind. The food looked great, but I wasn't hungry. My friend I went with had just gotten back from Germany about a month prior and he was super excited that they had curried ketchup as a condiment option for their sausages. I need to find an excuse to make another visit to this place! Also, apparently this is the third iteration of the same restaurateur behind a series of successful German Pubs in the Seattle area. I would say he is welcome to open more!

I have spent more money here I care to admit. Kessler is by far my favorite bartender in the whole world. Beer here is delicious. The food is really good too - the pretzels are out of this world. Since amazon moved in it got really busy but Kessler always finds me a seat and pours me a beer. I just wish they could find my mug.

Quick bartenders, decent selection but LOUD. Especially when people start passing that damn boot around, I felt 20 years too old. They didn't have a great selection of darker beers, which is my only complaint however- what I had was tasty. Too bad I can't remember the name.

Nearly five-and-a-half years ago, the very first Yelp review I ever posted was for Feierabend. I have just posted my 500th review. And, so, while it is truly pure coincidence that I am updating my review for Feierabend at this time, one might say there is a bit of kismet in there, too. Anyhow, nearly five-and-a-half years later, my second review of Feierabend pretty much echoes my first. [Small review digression: I am 99.5% sure Feierabend is in a different location (just by a couple of blocks) than it was then. If I am mistaken, please let me know.] We went in during HH on a Friday. It was crowded. And this is not a huge place, so the tables filled quickly. However, after waiting just a few minutes, but were able to snag a comfy corner table. Neither my husband nor I are beer drinkers, but I had a glass of quite lovely malbec, while he enjoyed what he said to be one of the better ciders he has tasted. I was going to order the "bratburgers" off the HH menu. I assumed these were pork, but, was disappointed to learn, these are a mixture of pork and beef. Now, there are a lot of people out there who do not eat pork. And a lot of other people, myself among them, who do not eat beef. Thus, when you combine the two, you are losing a whole lot of semi-carnivorous folks. I do not get this. Finding limited options on the HH menu, I went for the Huhnclub Sandwich, a chicken club, with bacon, veggies, and fried onions. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly and very moist. The rest of the fixings and were only ok, though, and the bread, to my taste, overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich; I ended up leaving most of it. So, as with my original review, I found the food to be ok, if nothing spectacular. Service was very good, though. Although it seemed clear that most everyone else in there were "regulars," we were given perfectly friendly and efficient service, were not rushed, and were made to feel welcome and appreciated as customers. Final verdict: We're glad we gave Feierabend another try. It is a perfectly fine place, but, in many ways, is just not our thing.

My friend came in here and asked if she could get a mojito. Our server humored us a little and said they only have some great German beer. It's a German bar close to REI. I suppose after you drop a lot of money on some REI gear, any normal person would need to stop by a German bar to get some beer. A great place to just relax and hang out with friends. Signage could be a little better and if you're not really looking, you would miss this place.

Huge selection of German beer on tap to fit every taste. Small space, but a great bar with friendly staff to keep you well lubricated with German brew. From marzen to dopplebocks they have it covered. Can get a bit rowdy with the Amazon crowd on Thursday and Friday nights but the bar is a great place to take it all in.

Came here after my buddy was raving about a new German pub in the slu area. Great service, good food and a young crowd. I didn't realize that I came here a few years ago and went to the rooftop after I got wasted. Great times. (friend lived in the building).

This used to be my FAVORITE place in the world. I could even tolerate the noisy, crowded yuppy crowd. Alas, for want of a Paulaner Oktoberfest, a devotee was lost.

Some of the best German food I have had in the states. Great selection of beer on draft including Kostritzer. I had the schnitzel. It was a nice breading and very tasty. The red cabbage was ok, but the pomme with curry ketchup made up for it! others at my table got the wurst sampler and I got to pick at it. everything on there was tasty as well. I will definitely be back

ADORABLE!! The interior is super rad, the staff were über friendly, the food was good. Speaking of the food, not sure if I'm necessarily a fan... growing up eating authentic German food, prepared by my Oma, who happens to be a chef, I was a little disappointed in the style. They put a new/modern twist to old recipes. Which sounds cool, and it WAS well executed... just disappointing when you're expecting a certain texture and flavor. Again, it was well done, just not what I wanted. Beer was delicious, of course, can't go wrong... however, the 2 beers I asked for originally, they were out of or didn't have. No biggie though, the Köstritzer I ended up getting, was perfect.

The food was decent but a bit overcooked. Service however was borderline rude, the server was one of those pushy-bossy-hipster types. Would have been a great place to watch a world cup game if it wasn't for their only having one TV. Worse, half the tables in the place it was blocked from view by large pillars. Nicht genau optimal. Good selection of German beers and food, though - but like most German bars around here it was mostly all Bavarian.

It's not bad, but it's not great. When busy, it's really busy and takes a while for a waiter to come get you water. Fine. I don't know why people keep raving about the pretzels. They're mediocre at best. Not bad, but not BEST EVER. The beer is perfect. All 3 stars for the beer. Atmosphere is pretty cool, too. But food? Meh.

If I could give zero I would. We had a guest from overseas who had only has drivers license and we were refused service. We tried to explain that he is adult and showed his dob, but the waitress did not agree. You lost me forever

awesome place to grab a beer since there are plenty to choose from. Dont be afraid to ask for the workers opinion on beer. they are very helpful. Must get the das boot while you are here if you have never had it before.

Great German food (you gotta try the Brevarian pretzel) but most importantly, the BEST selection of German beer. This place gets pretty busy but you can tell the wait staff is trying their best to accomdate everyone. I've been here on various days of the week and it's always busy so try your best to get there as early as possible. I recommend the Franizkanner Weisbeer, delicious!

This was my first time to a German bar and I really loved it. The atmosphere was fun, the food was delicious and super unique and the service was awesome! There's even an outdoor area where people can hang out and drink their beers. They have a bunch of different German beers but since I know nothing about beers, I opted for something lighter on the rotating tap. Let's talk about the curry ketchup ok? So my friends have broken taste buds or something because they couldn't taste the curry in it but I totally could and it was SO good. I've never had anything like it before and it's such a great mix. Who would've thought? I didn't even know Germans included curry in their food... So I also ordered the chicken club, that was probably the best sandwich I've had in a long time that wasn't Paseo's or banh mi. There were several pieces of bacon and I suppose that was a huge reason why it was so delectable... but the bread was a perfect size and texture too. Sometimes baguette bread is so hard and it hurts my gums but this sandwich was very very tasty. Highly recommended. It's the last chicken sandwich option on the menu, FYI.

I was there recently for a happy hour on a weekday evening with my working team from 5:30-7pm. Even though I thought its location is a bit out of place (lots of construction around the area), Feierabend had a good, lively vibrant vibe to it. Our group of 25+ people were able to get a private room to the side of a resturant all to ourselves; The waitress was very attentive and checked on us for drink/any orders everynow and then. We had a bunch of orderes (some food and mostly drinks and the service time wasn't slow at all). This is definitely good, fun place to catch up with people informally after work and I would think of coming back here again for happy hours. For just general meeting with friends outside of work or on weekend, this place seems a bit too much to travel for as there's not much to do around it...and too close to my workplace :)

Great find! My hubs and I had been really missing the ultra authentic beer garden in Disney World (Ok, so maybe "authentic" isn't the right word....) but none the less we had longed for some kraut and big beer steins. This fit the bill! The night we were there just one guy was manning the bar, but he sure did hustle! We ordered several rounds of food and multiple beers and never felt like it was taking too long. I often find myself with a large group of people, or with folks who won't dig a hipster bar on cap hill or a fancy small plate affair in Belltown. This is the perfect spot that will make everyone comfortable and accommodate the most gregarious of groups. Will be back!

This place rocks. - Thumbs up for Ayinger Brau Weisse and Ayinger Celebrator. - Easy parking. - Great service. My bf and I came here twice and the guy remembered us AND what we had ordered! (Given, we were there just the day before but still!) Also very attentive and gave us recommendations. - That ketchup!! - Perfect post-kayaking meal (Spend the day kayaking nearby at Moss Bay and then relax with great beer and sausages and fries! What else would you ask for?) I'll be back!

YYYYEEEEE!!! I love it here. I loved it even more when I finished my first card (I feel so accomplished, and all those 50+ card people don't need to showboat). The food isn't amazing all the time. Sometimes it is so awesome, and sometimes it is just fine or good, but it is never bad. The beer here is amazing, because it is German and it comes in big glasses and the people who serve it also love it, so they never make you feel bad about how much beer you drink. The tables are huge and square and this place is made for groups of people who liek each other, or at least can joke with each other. It gets crowded, and sometimes you may have to wait for a table, but the people who work here try to make other people adjust for you (thanks!) On that note, the service here is great. The bartenders all remember me and my boyfriend after our second visit. They never let us sit with empty glasses and know their food and beer menus well. A very good experience every time thanks to the lovely staff! My only complaint is that they aren't next door to my house. Stupid geography.

Pretty cool place - if you go for happy hour with a group, send a scout in early to reserve space, otherwise, you're going to be out of luck for a long while. Lots of friendly laid back people. Service is pretty good - even when it's packed. Parking isn't too bad either. Beer - lots of beer selection. I had the dunkelweisen the first time... and then last time I had glasses and glasses of the Spire Cider. French fries are awesome. Pretzel is good. Schnitzel and the other German food was okay. Red cabbage is awesome. The ham hock - falls off the bone, very rich and delicious. Avoid the curry wurst - kinda gross, mushy, and funky-stale-plastic tasting.

Great service bartender/waiter very attentive when a glass goes empty. Only 1 boot??? I was excited to get the boot but turns out there was a wait list for it... And the single occupant restrooms... Some how the thought of drinking a liter of beer and only being able to go 1 at a time doesn't seem to appealing to me. Honestly I haven't stood in a line that was longer at the guys restroom than at the womens. Just sayin...

This is a friendly place with a good selection of German beers, but the food is disappointing. The main room gets quite noisy, but you can find a quieter spot in the side room. We ordered two starters and two entrees. All the right ingredients are there, but the result isn't authentic. It's like German food made by someone who's never had the real thing (which may very well be the case). Also, everything but the fries badly needed salt (and I don't mean American levels of salt -- just any salt.) The sausage from Bavarian Meats was pretty good; if you need food, get that. Otherwise just enjoy the beer!

I love this place! Great German food (*note* not for the light-hearted eater). My hubby and I went there on a sunny, lazy afternoon to hit the happy hour menu. Honestly, this place has made me into a beer drinker. Usually I like the darker beers but after reading so many reviews on Franizkanner Weisbeer...so I tried it and the verdict is... AMAZING--I drank a liter! My husband didn't like it so much, he chose one of the darker beers. The food was nice-not entirely amazing, but it hit the spot. But really, this is the place for beer baby. You haven't tried beer until you've gone German.

I first came here like 4 years ago, and decided I'd finally give 'em a Yelp*. And I just recently started a punch card... I shoulda done that a long time ago. I've become quite a fan of this sweet German pub. Great German beers. I love the Franziskaner on tap! And who doesn't love the curry fries... Super cool bar tenders. Shout out to Kessler who has great tunes playing if he is "DJing". The only down side to this place is it gets REALLY full in the evenings and can be hard to find a place to sit. But it is a great place to kick it on a Friday after work. Prost! Update 10/2013: they don't carry Fransikaner anymore... :( but it's not their fault.

Venue: bar, usually crowded during those hours you would expect it to be crowded but I have never had to wait too long to start drinking. The place isn't huge, but cozy and if you have a group the tables are a nice size. Food: love the pretzel, fries, and soups! yum yum! I don't eat the meat dishes but my friends say they are quite yummy. Beer: Love the beer! Join the club and keep coming back for liters! They have a boot too if that's the night you want to have :D . Service: Friendly service and food usually comes out in a timely manner. Beer service is quite good too. I order a liter and then it comes. ... .... ... mmmm a liter sounds good now

My wife and I came here for my birthday last week. Coming from the midwest, we were looking for a place with some great German Food, and also a great Seattle Happy Hour as well. And Feierabend did not disappoint. The inside was dark, and filled with lots of hard-wood tables. It felt like a real German beer hall (with a few flatscreen TVs). We arrived on a Saturday evening, around 5pm for their happy hour. The Happy Hour itself was from 3pm-6pm, everyday, and the vast majority of it is food-related, which is okay by us. We ordered Schnitzel Scheiben (mini-schnitzel with fries), Curry Wurst mit Pommes Frites (Veal Sausage & fries), SemmelKnodel mit Pilzrahmosse (Bread Dumplings with mushroom gravy), and a Reissdorf Kolsch to wash it all down. Each food item ordered was $5 and the beer was $5.75. Everything was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and really couldn't ask for anything more. We'd never had Semmel Knodel before - they were light and fluffy, and the mushroom gravy brought an incredible earthy flavor to the dish that was unforgettable. The next time I'm craving German Food (yes, it happens), I know immediately where I'll go - back to Feierabend.

Was here last night for a casual birthday gathering and had a great experience! Even though it pretty busy I got beers quickly and the staff was friendly. We ordered the pretzel and a platter of fingerfoods-generous portions for a decent price and good too. Would definitely go back and try some of the other menu items, everything sounded delicious!!

5 stars might be stretching it a bit. BUT Feierabend is my favorite German-Style bar in Seattle (I prefer it to Prost! and Die Bierstube - its sister establishments). It is also the bar I frequent most. I really love the staff and they seem to have a following of devotees - more than most non-dive bars. The food: Unfortunately, they sell German food. That said - there are things on the menu I like. The Spaetzle - so good (If they can do it with goat cheese and chicken, its epic) and the pork shoulder, I'm told, is perfect. I like the pretzel and the gurkens for snacking but the pommes frites are the best because the serve them with curry ketchup - it grows on you. The beer: Awesome. The staff is knowledgeable about the large selection as well. Generally, it's $5 for a half liter and $9/$9.50 for a liter. They have all the old favorites (Spaten, Hofbrau, etc.) and some interesting others (see: Optimator). You can also get... DAS BOOT, that's just good fun. The place misses the mark a bit in immolating a German beer hall but it's not terribly inauthentic. It get's really crowded (not a huge place) on Fridays and Saturdays around 8pm, so there are a lot of people standing around eying would-be departers. There is a punch card system which gives you rewards after completing 25 liters. I am the proud owner of a Feierabend t-shirt. Some people have engraved mugs, plaques and chairs. This place doesn't take itself too seriously. The arrangement tends to initiate mingling with new people. I cannot think of anything that is outright wrong about this place.

Tagged along with a friend for lunch. I can say I've never been to a traditional German restaurant before. Hmmm....looks like it could be a fun place in the evenings. Service was good for our entire visit. Our waitress even helped us decide what we wanted and shared some of her favorites. I decided to go for the schnitzel sandwich, as it is one of the less expensive entrees on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised....from the spice in the slaw...almost like horseradish....to the kick in the curry ketchup for the pommes frittes. Altogether, it was a great lunch!

Feierabend is COOL. The kind of cool that really gives your city a face lift. I mean, Seattle is cool all by itself, but this German joint just brings the coolness full circle. If a place like Feirabend existed in say, Tucson or . . . . Boise, well then, those places might be cool too. Needless to say, the food was incredibly tasty and fresh. Had some braut and bread, pretzel with several different mustard's to taste, a not-your-average corn-dog, and a couple of Berlin cocktails that gave me just the buzz I needed before I got onto my flight back to Los Angeles. The service was friendly, to the point, but not intrusive. The seating was perfect, and I loved the windows in the front allowing that beautiful summer sun to shine through. I imagine Oktoberfest would be a LOT of fun there! An absolute MUST if you're in Seattle!

It was alright. The atmosphere is nice, obviously German. The beer selection is also fair, but not the most comprehensive of German pubs (or otherwise) in the city. Again, the food is alright, but not spectacular. I got the wurst sampler, the sausages were pretty good, but again, I've had better here in the city. My wife had the schnitzel sandwich, which was pretty blah. The beer is good, got a liter of Licher Oktoberfest. Not bad, not great.

Ich habe durst! This is the kind of place I love. The decor and the hilarious pictures of older ladies boozing it up was a perfect setting. Wunderfrau G raised her only son with a deep appreciation for her homeland through gulash and schnitzel. My lovefest with the Optimator, Dunkels and our beloved Kani was all my own doing. I was reminded of the many cute bierhauses we frequented on the Griswald's family tour of Bavaria when we were at Feierabend. The first thing I noticed was the impressive collection of Germans on tap. I could do some serious damage. We grabbed a proper bierhaus style picnic table seat at the end of the bar and got down to business. Oh I like this! Half liters and full liters for your drinking pleasure. And, if you're ready to get crazy, they've got you set with Das Boot! Good times at Feierabend, which I was told means "end of the workday". Can't imagine trying to tackle Das Boot with lunch. Half liters then, Hacker Pschorr Dunkelweiss here and Ayinger for the lady. We also started with the best pretzel I've eaten outside of that gargantuan number at the Hofbrahaus Munchen. They do it right. None of that buttery crap soaking it. Salt on the side for you, and hot/sweet and grainy mustards. Pretty pretty pretty good! I was also very impressed to see the schweinhacksen on the menu. That's basically a pork shank that I remember my old man and BIL devouring at many stops on our trip. I wasn't so bold. Brat and kraut for me, chicken salad for red. We liked the food, it was really tasty. They also were spot on with the many instructions they got from the other side of the table, which always makes me pleased. I've got to give my little travel agent major love for having this on the agenda. I don't know how she does it, but we always seem to find the right kind of places. We split the Spaten Octoberfest before we had to run for our sailing adventure.

what a great place to have lunch. my brother-in-law and i stumbled on this quaint little place when we spent several weeks in seattle while my sister was in the trauma icu. we had plenty of time to walk around seattle and german food sounded great. i had the ham hocks and they were absolutely fantastic. they were so tender and flavorful it was an almost like melted butter pouring in my mouth. will go back any time i am in the seattle area. the wait staff was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very germanic. loved it.

I am perpetually amazed by poorly run establishments that continue to thrive. The food here smelled amazing. There were a myriad of libation offerings. The atmosphere was cheerful and welcoming. I saw all of this from my spot in the doorway, where I stood with my party for over an hour waiting for a table. I also noticed the multiple tables of folks just sitting (for over an hour) with empty glasses and no plates in front of them. So while those folks were taking up valuable space, I became more and more annoyed and more and more hungry. I'm a patient person, mostly. But, this was ridiculous. There is no host or hostess and no one is handling the seating so it's essentially anarchy. I'm down with throwing elbows when need be. But, if the folks here don't eat and stare at dry glasses, I imagine that patience works better than violence. Eventually, they'll all starve to death. Of course, the staff here will just leave the corpses there in front of the empty glasses.

Elbow the hipsters out of the way and belly up to the bar. If you're a homesick German or just a teutophile, you'll love it here. Get a hot pretzel and pick a beer from the tap you're guaranteed not to find anywhere else. Authenticity freaks, take note: your choice will be served to you in the proper glassware. From there, you can move onward into the very well executed entrees on the menu. Notable care has been given to the cooking, plating and presentation of every dish I've had here, which elevates the food above your run of the mill Hofbrau shack. If you like this kind of thing (you know who you are) then Fierabend is among the best you'll find. My pretzel-and-brau craving started halfway through my flight from San Diego, and by the time my plane landed, I couldn't get here quickly enough.

Unfortunately my last visit was not so great. The service left a lot to be desired, when we wanted another drink the waitress was behind the bar texting... leave that for after work or your break please. It wasn't that busy either. I also changed my side to french fries and was charged $5 for them! Without being warned I was surprised by the charge on the bill. Needless to say that came out of our waitress's tip. So yes the food is great, but every time the service gets worse. Make sure to double check your bill before you pay!

Our lunch today was superb! We came in ahead of the futbol crowd, so we were able to converse. The beer selection is excellent, but I need to point out that Feierabend right now is the area's best German/Austrian restaurant too. My Kassler chop was thick and properly smoked. Although topped with a too-mustardy sauce, it was consumed with relish. The Rotkraut nicely spiced, and the mashed potatoes made for a full meal. My friend had the Vegetable Strudel and it was quite a good-sized portion; I did have a taste, noted the flaky crust essential to Strudel, and as pleased to see her eat it all. Admittedly, Feierabend doesn't do everything well. However, if you are looking for a proper Schweinshaxn (pork leg), look no further - Feierabend has an authentic recipe that needs no improvement. Yes, the place gets noisy quickly and no - there is no yodeler in sight. But we who grew up in that milieu know that Gasthaus authenticity doesn't need those extra touches. Attentive service and a bit more elbow room would be desirable on those nights when this pub throbs with full-throated conversation.

Love Love Love the food and they have all the different kinds of beer from Germany so hard to find anywhere else! It's very social as German Pubs are supposed to be. Share a table with strangers and have a good time! Service can be a bit slow since they are so busy, but they will make sure you get what you need! mmmm!!!!! Can't wait to go back for more schnitzle!

This is the youngest of the Holy Trinity of German pubs in Seattle. And like every many annoying younger siblings, its a bit more yuppie, a bit shinier, a bit more needy, and a bit more demanding on your wallet. I suppose that could be due to location--whereas Prost! & die BierStube are tucked away in neighborhoods, this is tucked away in more urban South Lake Union area. As is the theme with these three German pubs (go back through my previous reviews of the older brothers), the menu & beer list is pretty similar between the three. This place is a bit less authentic German (if that's possible in Seattle...) than the other two. Perhaps that's due to how polished and clean everything is, but it's not exactly a vibe that comports with my image of German pubs. Service can be a bit absent on particularly busy nights, and given the crowds, your chances of getting a boot here are pretty slim. So if that's your goal, come early--you might want to call beforehand to make sure they are available. Not my first choice (Stube all the way!), but a good option in the SLU area.

I met a group of friends here last weekend, after hearing about this place for YEARS and never going. The location seemed kind of awkward, but clearly that doesn't hurt their business at all! I got there around 9:30pm and it was already packed. We hovered around a table for a while until some people were ready to leave, then we moved in and had our own table for the rest of the night. Ordering a drink was kind of tricky, as all the seats at the bar were taken and it was hard to weasel my way in to order. They also have an incredible amount of beer and I do NOT make decisions well, so I asked the bartender to recommend a lager - he suggested Spaten, which I stuck with the whole night. I went with the middle size but there are three different options, as well as, of course, the boot (which none of us tried, unfortunately). It was nice, too, because once we got our table, servers started coming around to take our orders and bring us beer and I didn't have to fight through the crowd anymore to get a drink. As far as food goes, my friends ordered a ham hock of some sort, which I didn't taste but which smelled AMAZING. I don't even like ham and I thought it smelled delicious. I want to go back sometime to actually try some of their food. I also remember thinking they had a pretty decent music selection, although I can't for the life of me remember WHAT they were playing that made me say that. It wasn't very loud (which is awesome because we could actually talk) but I know I enjoyed it. I'm pretty excited that I finally found this place and I can't wait to come back!

I wanted this place to be amazing. Nice atmosphere and layout. Beer selection is great! BUT food is not amazing. Had a Wiener Schnitzel and the best way to describe it is "bland" - not a "solid" option like other reviews mention. The fries, on the other hand, were really great. So I will give it another chance, but temple your expectations.

Feierabend: Loud and Gemütlich! As a German-American who has lived in Germany on several occasions, I was overjoyed when the two restaurants "Prost" and "Feierabend" opened a few years ago in Seattle. The traditional restaurants run by the older generation had closed or been abandoned when the folks retired, and it was great to be able to get authentic German food and especially a wonderful selection of German beers on draft again. Feierabend is located just off of I-5 near the convention center and REI. Parking can sometimes be a challenge. This time our driver let us off in front and had to park a couple of blocks away. Because it was a typical NW May, the small beer garden hadn't opened yet, and the indoor space is pretty small, so we felt fortunate to see a table clearing out and grabbed it. The place was hopping, even though it was early on a weeknight. No kitschy waltz music, Gott sei Dank, just some hardish rock, lots of young people, and loads of energy. Our waitress appeared almost immediately and took our beer orders. If you are at all a fan of dark beer, try the Optimator! Simply superb! They have a nice selection of traditional German dishes, some with clever touches. They don't have Wiener Schnitzel, but they have a Schnitzel sandwich with a tasty horseradish sauce. They do have Jägerschnitzel (a pork cutlet in Hunter's sauce), Rouladen and some sausage platters. The food was as good as some traditional places in Germany (like Americans, many Germans prefer to eat ethnic when they go out.) Our only gripe was it easily took 40 minutes for the food to arrive. This was no problem for us, as we were catching up on life with our guest, but folks heading to cultural or sports events should take heed. Feierabend is not the place for quiet conversation. Between the music, the tile floor, and all of the wood trim, the volume was at urban bar levels. So we just sat closer, enjoyed the energy and resorted to lip-reading when we had to. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food and drink. On Friday (Freya's Day), think Feierabend!

As a sports bar this place is all right. We found their service attentive and their selection of beers fairly large. But as a German restaurant this place is terrible, and I would not ever recommend anyone go here for the food. Our pretzel was stale. Our potato pancakes were bland and flavorless. Our currywurst was passable but not especially good. We were so disappointed in the food at this place we actually went to another restaurant immediately after we visited.

Went in on a Saturday at 6, found the only two seats in the place and grabbed a beer. Plenty of choices for those who like beer, spirits as well. A small but decent selection of food is to be had. There are a couple tv's to distract you and there's a deck outside. Pay parking on the street. Servers were super sweet and very cool, they chatted with us about beers and music and made us feel at home. I'll definitely go back. The food and drink was decent, the bill wasn't outrageous and the service was good.

Bartender would not serve me because "he had a feeling I was drunk" when I asked politely for a beer list. I had had 2 beers about 3 hours ago... he later admitted he was wrong, but too bad. He was the manager Brian. I guess I should have been shouting and swearing like the guys chugging boots in the corner, maybe I would have fit in.

Food not very authentic - comparing to Suppenkucha in San Francisco. They are more portion orientated rather than quality. Cucumber salad was severly under seasoned and lacked any pop. Spaetzle was again under seasoned and blah - seemed like it was put through a too small ricer or purchased already made. Portobello entree ($13) - portobello was super dry and lacked any flavor - salad with it was very much in old classic style - an after thought to beef up the plate with about 2.5 oz of dressing drizzled on top of it (way too much). The quality of the greens really lacked. Curry fries were ok...nothing to rave about - could not detect any curry flavor. Beer selection was good - all European in style. Lacked in the dark department. Cocktails were super strong but overall balanced in flavor.

We went here for my coworker's birthday. They were really accommodating to our larger party, but it also seems like a place you could go with a few people and have a great time as well. The food was friggin' delicious!! I still have dreams about their ham-hock, which is easily enough for two people to share. The beer selection was awesome- tried the only 'dark' beer I have liked thus far. I wish I could remember the name of it, smooth and chocolate-y without being too heavy. Parking seems relatively easy, but we went for dinner and early drinks around 8:30-ish. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for a great bar and great food.

The staff at Feierabend get 5 stars for being so wonderful- we had a huge group of people and somehow they kept track of everyone's orders and separated all of the checks! It made everything so much easier. This is a great place for delicious German beer.

Nice beer hall. Small but modern. Food good but limited to standard German menu. As such a bit limited. Bartender a bit slow but nice when around. One tv playing Back to Future a bit weird. Nice place though.

Good German pub w/decent HH specials - plenty of brews. Nice staff. Nice alternative to Paddy Coyne's or Bravehorse if you're in SLU. Opens alfresco in the summer.

The food menu here is definitely superior to the Bierstube and Prost. Even though the pommes were a little lackluster in a McDonald's sort of way, the curry ketchup was AMAZING and so was the extra spicy mustard that came with my big doughy pretzel. The beer selection was okay, though it featured only one doppelbock which doesn't quite stack up to 'Stube's three. I was pleased to see Ayinger Brau-Weise on tap, but that tap turned out to be broken. Paulaner and Erdinger were nowhere to be seen, which was also a disappointment. On top of all this, Feireabend had a decidedly Belltown-y yuppie vibe, so I don't think I will find myself schleppin' it all the way to SLU for a return visit. If I were to rank Seattle's German pubs from best to worst, Feireabend would land right in the middle of the pack.

All I can say is awesome, fun, great vibe and amazing drinks whether its beer or cocktails!!! My husband and I just so happen to live in the apartments upstairs which could be a pro or con because we're at Feierabend almost every weekend. I really wasn't a huge beer drinker before we discovered this place and now I have seen the light! You can tell the bartenders light or dark and they make awesome recommendations but to be honest I really don't think there is a bad beer there! I really like the food. I'm not a huge ketchup fan but they have this curry ketchup and I could eat that by the spoon full! And if you're there for happy hour you'll definitely want to partake in the brat sliders!! This is a great place to hang with friends day or night!

4 out of 5 stars because service was slow, other than that, this bar rocks. Good selection of beer on tap, amazing smelling authentic German food, cool atmosphere. Something about this bar made me feel very welcome. People watching is great here since most groups are passing around a boot full of beer! But my favorite part about this bar was the music; hip hop!

My favorite German pub/restaurant. Consistently good service, always great beers on tap, and the food is delicious (their ham hock is the best). Great lively atmosphere, perfect for drinks and food with friends, or just a little detour after REI!

I've been here a few times and every time I'm glad I went. The happy hour prices are amazing, the crowd fun, the staff friendly, and ambiance relaxing. PROS: 1. Awesome happy hour! $5 for sliders and fries. It comes with two huge sausage sliders (bigger than any slider I've seen, like at Amber or Frontier Room) topped with caramelized onions and red bell peppers. Yum. And the side of fries is equally huge, with curry ketchup. The $3 pretzels are also yummy. So soft, warm, and chewy. And it comes with three sides (a mustardy cheese sauce, dijon, and some mustardy apple. What's with the mustard infused in all of 'em?). Beers are a buck off, too. 2. Good beer selection. With great descriptions of what to expect with each one. 3. Friendly, attentive staff. The people in my crew trickled in one by one and the waiter came by immediately after each one sat down. CONS: 1. Super duper crowded. I've never just been able to walk in and find a seat. You sort of have to fend for yourself and ask someone if you can join them. There is no host or hostess to seat you. And until you get seated, none of the staff notices you.

Love. Love. Love this place. Where do I start? Fried pickles. With curry ketchup. Pay no attention to how crazy that sounds and order them. Also, the leg of, some type of meat I am not remembering currently, was fantastic. The wide beer selection might affect the memory. They have proper German Hefeweizen with that slightly banana flavor... hmmm, I might not be making this sound good. You're going to have to just trust me on this one.

I'm not sure I've ever been to a bar with such great food. I was expecting a hole in the wall place that was kind of grimy with a skeezy crowd. Not at all! The location was kind of random to me...it was in the middle of a street that didn't seem to have much else around it. But for a Friday night, I was surprised with the abundance of street parking directly outside the bar! Already won points in my book. We went in around 9 pm and the place was already packed. We couldn't find a table and the two of us were meeting a large group so we kind of hovered around until we were able to weasel a few seats from a couple of women. By the end of the night at 1 pm, we had the whole table to ourselves. Booyah. The crowd attracted a lot of well-dressed men and women - not the typical grunge look that you would expect from Seattle. Since it's a German bar, they obviously had a great selection of beer on tap. I asked for something sweet and light...and got something with the name "Oktoberfest" in it. I was happy with the recommendation. The biggest surprise though was how awesome the food was and how well the (owner - I think) remembered the patrons. When he came around to grab drink orders, he knew my name and what I had ordered without even looking at a cheat sheet. Impressive. My husband ordered the ham hock with carmelized brown sugar and holy potatoes. Best thing I've eaten in a very long time. It was a giant piece of ham on a bone...and was completely covered in sugary goodness. The smell was intoxicating and everyone in a 10 foot radius looked over as they got a whiff of this magnificent meal that was the ham hock. Oh so good. I will come back just for that. The rest of the menu looked equally awesome - would love to come back to try the fried pickles. And if that isn't good enough, they have a punch card program where you get rewards for drinking half liter cups. My friend has his own mug there with a name plate on it. What a cool place...I cannot WAIT to go back.

I just wish there were more seating. In Germany and Oktoberfest, strangers sit by each other like it ain't no thing. In America we don't, cuz we're bitches. If Feierabend had more tightly packed seating or more 'singles' seating, since lots of spots were free but being occupied by Americans. The nerve! What I'm trying to say is the place is popular on the usual nights. Happy Hour is great, with yummy beer and pretty-good pretzels. I'm a vegetarian (at a German place? I know, right?!) so basically I have stuck with the pretzels. They do have fried pickles, which are kinda life-changing. Though since I am queer, I do go for phallus-shaped anything. So maybe I'm biased. But I think even straight boys will deep throat these puppies. Yum!

I was there with a large party - we reserved the back room and were very well attended to. Some of us arrived prior to our scheduled time and had drinks in the main area. There was some confusion about whether or not our bill from the main area could be applied to the group minimum ($500 for a weekend night), and ultimately, the group minimum was reduced by the amount we spent ahead of time. We had a total of about 15 people, maybe more at some points, and no one felt neglected or like they had to wait too long for their orders. The food and the beer were delicious, and unlike many German restaurants I've been to before, had a decent number of non-pork dishes, which was great, as I don't care for most pork products. I didn't hear a single complaint from any member of the party, and everyone left happy, full, and perfectly willing to return.

A few weeks ago, I saw Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations in NYC where he pops by a German eatery and I was instantly craving some schnitzel. When my friend suggested grabbing a bite to eat at Feierabend on my journey, I knew this was my chance. We were instantly seated but the waitress didn't come by for 15 minutes. That was fine as we had time to peruse their extensive beer menu. They were having some happy hour small plate offerings and the three of us decided to order from there. We went for the beer of the day (Franziskaner Weissbier I think) and ordered four small plates from the happy hour menu. These were simple dishes (fried pickles, schnitzel and fries etc.). I assumed that they were on the menu because they are quick to make, no? We waited and waited. We watched as other people came in, ordered, ate and paid before we even got our 4 small plates. About 40 minutes into waiting, we asked the waitress where our food was. She said it was coming up soon. I have a strong feeling this is when she put the order in and failed to tell us. We were also sitting there with empty glasses and she never came over to ask if we wanted refills. The place wasn't super packed, so I don't know why there was so much wait. We waited another 20 minutes and talked to another server. He said he just got there and didn't know anything about our food, just that it was coming up soon. Another 10 minutes and we were done waiting. We told the male server to get our check for the beer and we were leaving. Just then, the waitress brought out our food and called our bluff. We sat and ate, but we were not happy. The food was awful (except for the pickles). My friends had been there before, and said the food was better. I don't know what happened, but it is evident of the other bad reviews on here that they have issues with time. This was probably the culinary low point of my trip.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Friendly staff. Tom is awesome. Yummy food. Spatzel! Pretzel! Curry ketchup! And the beer selection is top notch. Plus you can get it in a boot! Come on, what more do you need? I had a surprise party for my boyfriend here last year and Tom was super at helping me get everything together. The private room on the side is perfect for groups. We're going back to have another party in January '13! Remember when you go that you sit next to people at the tables, it's German style. 2 things I'd like to see. Something sweet on the menu and maybe a more comfy seat! 2 hours on the wood bench is tough. But this place is worth the sore bum.

Great spot with nice beer selection, friendly staff, and fun ambiance...seems like a great place for groups. They serve traditional German fare and have great happy hour deals too. We had the Petite Schnitzel & CurryWurst which hit the spot and created a good base for all the lovely beer! I also love that they offer different size options and the prices are very reasonable. The Kostritzer Schwarzbier & Warsteiner Dunkel were my favorites and the bf like them all =) Definitely a sweet beer spot!

DAS BOOT! People have to try DIE BOOT! Came here on a busy and packed Friday night with a huge group of 15-20. We had a bench to fill, felt very beer hall like and I LOVE IT! What's great about this place is that the bartenders and servers are VERY attentive. They see our huge group and they're always on top of our orders and drinks. Very accommodating! I love German beer, especially lagers. Since DIE BOOT was a bit much for me, I stuck to my small stein that I ordered of biten lager. Very tasty! DIE BOOT was fun to watch esp getting everybody involved! MUST TRY: fries with curry ketchup. It's addicting!! I tried their bratwurst sandwich and oh boy oh boy! German food is good! For me, I didn't care that it came on a fancy baguette, I just ate the brat with the kraut with the fries and curry ketchup- superb! I also tried the wiener shnitzel vom schwein- very good as well! I love it here and it's a great friendly and jolly environment!!! Always a great time here! Parking is street, I didn't have a tough time finding spots at all. Sometimes I get lucky with spots out front. Any night here is fun! Want a jolly grand time? DAS BOOT it up at FEIERABEND!

Forgive me. I do not remember what I ate here after consuming series of Der Stiefel, in English - THE BOOT. After watching Anthony Bourdain drinking German beer out of a boot mug, I was delighted with my friend's idea to try it out here at Feierabend. The mouth of Stiefel was bigger than my face, and being a newb with it, I let the big bubble pop in my face. Live and Learn. The four of us had a few Stiefel and ordered munchies -- whatever those were, made my tummy very very happy. Feierabend is a very happy place. But no place has no downers. Those are: Location (cabbie had hard time remember where Yale St was) - after we headed out, we could not spot one cab on a Saturday night (which led to a whole different adventure, but that's a story for another day). Seating - there are very limited number of seats for how well this place does on a weekend night. Many seats are benches, sometimes you'd need to sit with other patrons or stand around until a table opens up. Make it out here though, raise your Stiefel, CHEERS.

The ambiance here is great for a group of friends looking for a great time with great beers! Came here last night with a group of ten and they had a table just big enough to accommodate. They were packed from the time we came in to the time we left. Our server was great and suggested drinks to those who weren't so familiar with different beers served. They also serve the boot here, I have not gotten the opportunity to try one but this place will be kept in mind when I do decide I want to take one on! I'll be back sometime as this is a decent place to hang out with friends over some drinks!

i've been going to feierabend since they opened. always loved their food and beer options, though a little pricey. over the past month or so, it's become pretty much impossible to get a seat and eat and drink there. over the past month i have walked down there with my fiance and attempted to get seats at dinner time (sharing tables or otherwise) and have not been able to. we know how the seating works too, so it's not about being assertive. people just take up more space than they should, and they are inattentive to their surroundings once they've sat down. i think the servers are aware of this and it seems like they actually try harder to avoid acknowledging patrons when they enter and wait by the door for a seat to open up. they still only use the large side room for parties who pay the fee to use the space on top of the service, and keep the room dark and blocked off if no parties have reserved it. if they changed their policy to allow use of the side room for regular happy hour and dinner time hours, so many more people would be able to eat and drink there, not to mention they would profit more. it might mean the servers have to be more attentive, but really, it's not that big of a place. you gotta hustle in the restaurant/cafe/bar/pub industry. it's a shame that feierabend is so close to where i live, and has some of the tastiest food options in the cascade/NW cap hill area, but rarely is an option for food and drinks due to capacity/service issues. if they were able to adapt to their growing clientele (and respect the patronage of those of us who were there when they fist opened) and provide appropriate service opportunities now, i would give them 5 stars.

Great place to get beer by the liter. They have a great selection of beer too. I'm a big fan of the schnitzel sandwich but I have tried a lot of the menu items and I have enjoyed them all. The "table camper" comments are absolutely true. I have witnessed this almost every time I have been here. That really isn't the bars fault but of the patrons. It's rude. Beer is great, food is great and the last half dozen trips the servers have been great.

This part of my review is for the ham hock only. Freaking delicious. I'm not sure exactly how they prepare this but the meat and fat just fall right off the bone and melt in your mouth. The dish is easily enough for two. It's one of my favorite meals in the SLU neighborhood. You gotta go try this thing if you have not.......

This place has a great vibe to it - very German without being kitschy. The food is phenomenal. I had the jaegerschnitzl and wow, delicious. The cucumber salad, red cabbage, and spaetzl are all wonderful as well. And you can't go wrong with a full list of traditional German beers!

Had an amazing grilled chicken sandwich, with mustard and this insane Brie cheese spread. My friend loved his sausage sandwich with mustard and sauerkraut. Great spot for lunch. Next time, I'll make sure I can have a beer! Only kind of down thing is the service was kind of slow, given how few people were in the restaurant. Wouldn't keep me from going back, though.

German bars are my absolute favorite and Feierabend is next to #1 on my list (#1 being Prost in West Seattle and owned by the same owner as Feierabend - I'm naturally biased as W. Sea. is my neighborhood). The food at Feierabend is wonderful, and in generous portions. I love that they have a rotating food special each Friday. They are really great about posting photos of their delectable food choices on their facebook page so you are naturally lured in to try the selection with your favorite beer. They have a full bar for those who may not like beer, but want to join their beer-buddies for happy hour in a great place to relax. There is an outdoor patio area available if you choose to enjoy your beer outside. Staff is very friendly. I enjoy Kessler's humor and appreciate his customer service focused attitude. You can't go wrong here - this place is fun and a great place to enjoy beers and brats.

The great thing about reviews on yelp is they're so subjective, for example, one of the other reviews of Feierabend (a German bar) gives low points because it mainly serves beer and bratwurst (it's a german bar!?). Actually, it's a pretty cool German bar (which serves beer and bratwurst, sauerkraut but also has salad and cider too!). My review is subjective too. I'm adding an extra 1/4 point for each of: being open early enough to watch World Cup games. Being close enough to home that I could watch the game and wait for a delivery. Giving me a bottle of cider on the house after my previous bottle was taken away while I dealt with said delivery. Dealing very effectively with the rather invasive and over the top behaviour of a man who came and sat down next to us. But even before those 1/4 points what you have is a friendly neighbourhood bar with excellent range of German beers, some reasonably priced and very good dishes, and staff who work hard to accomodate a wide range of people and to create a relaxed atmosphere.

This was a Yelp Bookmark destination. I wanted to go here because I read they served their beer in boots (2L glass-shaped carafes). Unfortunately, when asked for something to drink, I enquired about said boots, and we were informed they weren't available! I guess they need to be staged and ready for them to be served. Our server was good in explaining the situation, and told us about some of the escapades these boots entail---makes me want to come back and try again (perhaps, I should call first though). We ordered some German brews and fare. The libations were good and tasty (had a couple rounds). They messed up a dinnermates order, and she had to wait a while, but they gave her a free beer for the trouble. This is the kind of establishment I wish I had in my neighborhood.

Awesome atmosphere, potent brews and a tasty menu to boot! Our party spent hours just sitting around one of their very large tables, taking in the conversation and enjoying some German eats! If you hate the smell of sauerkraut, you might not love it - as I noticed it right away when I walked in... but since I'm a die hard fan, it just made me love the place more! The location is a bit away from other things... not within walking distance to any other pubs or restaurants that I saw (though it was dark). So if you're not planning on staying long, you might want to keep a cab number handy (not very many drive by). Will definitely be returning! A great place to go with a small/medium sized party (we had six in our group) though there were plenty of tables for two and of course, the bar seating.

I go here all the time--seriously, my fiance and I are on a first name basis with most of the staff. He even got some bratwurst sandwiches to-go for a surprise picnic when he proposed to me. Pros: * Friendly, fast service * Expansive offering of German beers * Authentic German food Cons: * The place gets packed on weekend evenings * It's loud. Not a place for intense conversations Tips: * Happy hour is 3-6 every day * $8 liters of beer on "Munich Monday" * They offer take-out * Try the bratwurst sandwich, wienerschnitzel, kasespaetzle--or get the ham hock with potato salad and red cabbage if you're really hungry! * This location is less rowdy than its U District brother, Die Bierstube, and has a larger food selection

Decent bar but bartender harasses people for not tipping. (Even when we had to go up to order and pick up out own drinks) And stops serving the whole table afterwards even though it was only one person out of seven that did not tip. Very rude

Ugh, will not be returning to this place. This bar has good beers, but everything else is lame. The crowd is purely pretentious, our waiter was extremely impatient, food is bland and boring! When we arrived our waiter seemed like we were wasting his time, and he was not friendly at all. Just in a hurry. After getting our drinks and waiting for our food, my girlfriend spilled her beer (party foul). These two A-HOLES sitting behind us started going "OPA OPA!!!" and then cheering and singing. OK thats funny for like two seconds, but it went on.... and on... and on. Seriously for like 5 minutes they were yelling things like "that puts a damper on things!!" and other ridiculously rude comments. After we cleaned it all up (getting napkins from the bar), our waiter comes over probably 10 minutes after the spill - and goes, oh I heard there was a spill... must not have been that bad (it was), and then wiped our, now dry, table again. My GF was super embarassed, but the fact that our waiter was nowhere to be found, and these d*ckbags went ON AND ON about it (they were impressing some girl), it really ruined our night. We got our food... it was OK... Not worth the 10$ for my sandwich, PLUS I swapped out fries for a cucumber salad, and it was +1.75. So I payed almost 12$ for this crappy sandwich. Horrible.. I will not be returning, but our waiter would probably be happy about that because he is obviously very busy.

We were steered here by the waitstaff at die Beirstub (sp) because we wanted red cabbage. What a fun place and the food was great. Hubby got the ham hock rubbed in brown sugar which went very well with the cabbage. I had weinerschnitzel but like the flavor of his best. Forgot my readers so the bartender loaned me a magnifier. Nice patrons at the bar. Neat location down by REI. Can't believe how things have changed. We don't go out much. Madison Park-ites to the max!

Definitely one of those bars with both really tasty food and really tasty beer! I would definitely recommend it! They have a good variety of German beers on tap that rotate based on the season so be sure to ask if there's anything new. Also, the food is delicious! Curry ketchup is incredible on everything and their specials are always mouth watering as well. The only problem is waiting for a table. People come and don't leave. Don't be afraid to snag the end of a table and make some new friends there. People are generally pretty friendly there so why not reach out!

Ample selection of German Beer and Food as well as an authentic German Hof Brau feel make for a great experience. Feierabend is place that requires timing for your visits as it does get packed. If you are going for a first visit....I would highly suggest visiting at 11:30am or 3:30pm. Do not try to drop in at 6pm or later or you will be waiting and squeezing in to a crack in the wall. Oh and if you have 4 or more people, you can request The Boot...I highly suggest trying it. Good fun. Prost

The food here is good. Curry Ketchup is a big winner in my books. The Beer in the Boot is a Joke. Das Boot. Deposit required and can't be consumed by only one person (yes I could- if you're reading this and doubting my beerswilling ability). Who wants to last little bit of beer in the bottom when it's been around the table? Keep your backwash. Good selection of beers and reasonably priced. Parking is pretty good.

I feel sorry for the waitress. I went during lunch yesterday and there was only one waitress for the whole place. Needless to stay it took so long to get our order in that I almost walked out. Food is decent German fare that reminded me of my time in Bavaria, and there is a great selection of German beers on tap. The specials this week don't seem that German though, what is a Philly Chicken Sandwich? My colleague didn't think much of it. The Jaegerschnizel was much better. If I lived in the neighborhood, seems like it would be a good hangout with friends.

This place was fun. Seating is a bit tight and it fills up rather quickly, common sense would not suggest sitting in the tiny bar area directly in front of the cooking area. Tends to get a bit warm, haha. On the upside, it's pretty damn cool to sit and watch them cook while you eat and drink your yummy German beers. The delicious, wonderful German beers. Yummmm. ANYWAY, I didn't order any food but my boyfriend got bratwurst and fries with the curry ketchup. He seemed to really enjoy it!

I've been to Feierabend two separate occasions for birthday parties and both left me wanting to come back again. The selection is wide, the service is incredible (We had a table of 10-12 people and the server remembered what everyone ate and drank throughout the entire nite PERFECTLY when at the end we had him split checks up), and the food is good too. Spaetzle is a good idea when consuming more than 1/2 a liter of German beer. It's a fun atmosphere, we've found nearby street parking easily both times, and all in all, a great vibe at a great little German Bar. Bonus: They have a semi-private room you can rent/reserve for larger parties!

This is definitely one of my favorite places. First, great beer. They have a grey selection that's really diverse. And three sizes to choose from so if you want to try a bunch of different ones it's not too hard. Also, the happy hour kicks serious ass! Beers are a bit cheaper but the food is only a few bucks. The curry wurst is my favorite but the dumplings are really good too. Since I work right down the street I've been hittin it up about once a week. It's been good every time.

Feierabend is amazing. The perfect place for dinner, after-work, get togethers with large groups. Amazing selection of German specialty ales on tap. Warsteiner, Spaten, Paulaner, you name it. Best time of the year is the fall and holidays when you can grab a .5L of Oktoberfest favorites. The food here is also good, traditional dishes like weinerschnitzel and spaeztle dumplings. Surprisingly good selection for non-carnivores as well.

Feierabend was a nice little find a couple years back when a group of us were playing lunch roulette. We'd walk around and just go to lunch at a random restaurant and one time it was Feierabend. Lady Luck was intervening on our behalf that day. Since then, we have gone back multiple times and everytime it as has been a good experience. On to the Review or as they say in French, "Le Review" (not really, but I'm too lazy to google the translation). Food - 5 stars. This was a wonderful surprise. I thought the only place to get Schweinhax was Leavenworth. You usually get Rohtkrout (red cabbage) and Spatzel (Pasta) with the different dinners/lunch. Everything from Weinerschnitzel to Jaegerschnitzel to Schweinhax to deepfried pickles. Everything tastes fresh and is prepared well. Service - 3 stars. This is kind of hit or miss depending on your waitress. I have had experiences where my drink was never empty and I have had experiences where it took 5 min to refill. The staff are usually friendly if a little distant. Ambience - This is served as communal seating. Meaning you may be eating lunch next to someone you've never met. I don't have any real strong feeling one way or another about this, it's just how it is. It's all wooden benches and tables which can be uncomfortable at times, but usually the food is good enough to take your mind off of it. Sidenote - No one under 21 allowed as it's a bar, we found this out when we tried to bring our nephew there for lunch. Not a big thing, but something to be aware of. Overall, I would recommend Feierabend to anyone looking for a new flavor to add to their foodie repetoire.

This place rocks. German beer is delicious, and after knocking down 3-4, you'll be definitely feeling real good. The food was excellent also. Had the brat sliders which came out perfect. The servers here are extremely cute and friendly. They made sure our glasses always had beer in it. Minus one star for the long wait for the bathroom which occurs frequently.

I feel like with Feierabend it really depends on the day and the waitress/bartender. I have been multiple times with my group of friends, we do actually love it there, but we have had some good times and some awful times there. Time wise we normally get good service, when are beers are empty they ask if we want more promptly. Everyone should know Feierabend is known for their boot. On one occasion the boot was actually broken on the lip when it was given to us. that being the case my buddy actually cut his hand and elbow on the glass. When we expressed this to the waitress she literally did nothing.... Other than the above the food at this place is phenomenal, horrible for you but still good. They also have a very extensive list of beers to chose from which is also very good. Overall I've had good times at Feierabend and I'll still most likely go there since I'm not too picky, but the bad times still kind of stick out.

One of my favorite places! Ever! I had spätzle for my first time here and because I wasn't saying it right, a German man sitting at the same table as my date and I (hey, this is a quintessental German bar and you share, yes, *share* tables when the place is full! That's kinda cool!!) helped me to pronounce it properly. He was very pleasant and introduced us to the rest of his group, including 'Get Jesse' otherwise known as Jesse Jones. The German man happened to be the producer for the show and his seat-neighbor was the writer. Awesome! Oh, and I watched a man down a boot while there. Props!

I love me some German beers in glasses as tall as me! We stop by here whenever we walk from Queen Anne to REI in the summer. Haven't been disappointed with the beer at all. I love those refreshing lagers in frosty mugs that are bigger than my face. The decor feels old world European and very cozy despite the rustic wooden furniture that presses against your soft bum. I'm sure it feels pretty festive in these holiday months. Their wiener schnitzel is succulent, curry ketchup good, skinny fries tasty. The sliced sausage I ordered looked a bit on the sad, pale Vienna side, but it was more toothsome and tasty. I'm curious to try Das Boot. Do it for Landfill!!!

Went there just to have a drink and ended up staying another couple hours and had a great time. Beers are amazing and come in the glass that is made for the beer. The first I have seen of that anywhere. My friends had a boot that was funny to see. We just had fried pickles and and pretzels which were really good. I don't like pickles at all but they were really good. Had a great time, staff was really good and the overall opinion was that I would visit and have I know i'll have a great time. Oh did I say the beer is awesome too!

Great German bar near downtown! Beer is sold the way it should be - by the liter (though half and third liter options are available). It's good beer at a good price, and there's a good variety as there should be. You can also grab some good food here too. Everyone raves about the curry catsup for the fries, but if you like German fare, you can't go wrong. The pretzel, bratwurst and sauerkraut I had were awesome. The only downside to the place is that it's a bit small. The crowd there is nice, though, so if there's room at a table, they'll likely share. This place is a definite keeper for a German fix.

This place is authentically Bavarian. It's so authentic in fact, I have to laugh at the couple of 1-star reviews I found here from people who stood around waiting for a table, and never being able to try to amazing wursts and brezels, or sip a large mug of frothy Bavarian beer. Guys, first of all this isn't a new concept in America. It's a bar. You don't wait to be sat. You just sit wherever there's a table. That's how any bar works. Second of all, it's a German bar/beer hall. When you're done drinking, of course the waiter isn't going to come and ask you to leave. That's not their job. Their job is to make you feel at home, like you belong there. You come in and have a few beers (or maybe 1 or 2 of the large ones which will get you feeling pretty good), and if you want to sit around and chit chat, then that is well in your right to do... as they do in a beer hall in Germany. I honestly can't think of a bar where you must be seated by a hostess of some kind, but if that's the type of atmosphere you're looking for, you're probably not going to love the fun air of a care free life, the relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life for a quick escape to a European afternoon with your friends. These reviewers must be the kind who if they go to Europe, they come back to the states complaining that the French are rude when you never try to be part of their culture. Anyway, I have had to wait a little while before getting a seat before, so it would be great if this place was a little bigger, but I am sure the business owners would like a bigger bar too. But I don't know if it's because of space limitations, business limitations, money limitations -- I can't judge. When I come, I'll wait. I know when I finally get a table I am going to have a fun trip to Bavaria for a couple hours -- and yes, even after I finish my beer and food, just to annoy those uptight people waiting at the door for a host to see them to their table... but if the entire place is full, and the people waiting at the door look like they're the fun spirited type, I'll ask them to join us in true Bavarian spirit.

One of the best German pubs I've been to period. Granted I am not a beer connoisseur, but I had a great time with my friends here. The servers were fantastic and do suggest some great beer. The pommes frites with the curry sauce is great even for the vegetarians. :)

I love your pretzel. I love your mustard. I love your German beer. Your service sucks. Staff are not friendly. My friend and I have been here half a dozen times and always have to flag down a bartender. Aren't you supposed to get better service at the bar? Yes, you are. But, if you want a beer and pretzel, it worth stopping by.

The food and drink were superb The service was alright The crowd was really loud and dense. We had fun, but word to the wise: don't try to bring 14 people here.... go with a couple mates, and have a blast.

Good spot, but their staff is beyond unprofessional and rude. Asked to talk to a manager and was told "there is no manager". They do last call incredibly early, so I wouldn't make this a stop toward the end of your night.

Feierabend has great German beers and traditional food, one of the only good authentic German bars in the city (besides the other two under the same ownership). I've taken my parents here a couple times and they keep asking to go back when they are in town because they loved it as well. Definitely worth the trip!

As we were leaving, my husband said, "if we lived within walking distance, this would be a good neighborhood bar." Definitely order the Bavarian pretzel for an appetizer. It comes with three delicious dipping sauces. For entrees they have the typical German fare and (surprisingly) a delicious vegetarian option of Portobello mushrooms with a salad and pasta side dish. The beer selection was overwhelming, in a good way. I am not a huge beer drinker, but they had my go to... chocolate beer. The beer conveniently comes in three sizes (0.3L, 0.5L, 1 L). Others that I was with enjoyed the typical Oktoberfest beers. I would not recommend going when ravenous because you might have to wait for a table. Once you get a table, don't expect fast service if they are busy. We were there on a Saturday night and it seemed our server was also the bartender??? Which explained not seeing him very often. Bottom line: good food, vast beer selection, casual atmosphere.

This is one of my favorite places to sit around and drink in Seattle. The decor is awesome and reminds me of my time in Germany, the beer is delicious (best selection of German Beer in Seattle IMO) and the food is delicious. I go here almost weekly and the service is always great (the waiters are all awesome and friendly), its pretty fast even when busy, and I never feel rushed. I've done private events in the back room as well and they were awesome to work with and its a really great way to have a private party. I highly suggest going here!

It's a beer bar with German flair. I like how the beer comes in different sizes: big and bigger and huge. There's just something about a beer that's bigger than your head.

I went out with some friends to this place about a week ago. The food was excellent. Though next time I am going to get the ham hock. The beer was tasty too. The service was pretty good. Only complaint is the place is SUPER loud. But apparently thats all part of the German experience. I will be going back for sure.
