This is one of my favourite places to hang out in Seattle. The atmosphere is fun from the early afternoon till the time to leave. I have been here multiple times and the food is amazing and the service is over the top. This is a bar. Don't for get this when you arrive. There are alot of people that end up coming here at night. This is a pretty popular bar. Save your seats! The service here is great and the drinks are awesome. I will be here again soon.

This place is great, both day and night! I've only been a few times, but I definately will make a point to frequent it. I went a few years back for lunch with friends, and the food was excellent. A bit pricey, but definately worth it. The staff is very friendly and the service was fast. -The place is very clean, comfortable, and fairly spacious. -Their Happy Hour specials are great! -They really liven up at night, too. -Nice people, great crowd. The most recent outing was during one of their 'theme nights'. I was looking for something fun to do for my friend's birthday, that we could take our men to without them being bored. It happened to be their 80's dance night, which was even better. We love the 80's! Another friend mentioned dressing up so we did. People were dressed up....but more dressed to the nines than the cheesy outfit I was wearing! But everyone had a great time. Like I stated above, great crowd. Never judge a book by it's cover, no matter how fancy it is! This place wasn't like some of the others I've been to, where people are dressed well, and very stuffy or snooty. We felt right at home with everyone there. And, the DJ's ROCKED THE HOUSE! Super friendly, and took lots of requests.

I came back again for a real meal the other day and was a lot more impressed the second time. I had the Lamb French dip and it was pretty good with really solid potato wedges. I also love the beer selections and beer cocktails here.

Great Spot! Stumbled across this place on my last trip to Seattle. Ended up stopping in for happy hour. We were very impressed. This is not your average pub food - the items were far more complex. I specifically remember the excellent lamp cutlets with a sweet sauce, but everything was tasty. Cool layout with different sections around the bar. Service was great too. And who wouldn't appreciate a great selection of beers. If you haven't had one, try a Smithwicks (pronounced smith-icks). Always one of my favs when I find it. Like an 'Irish Newcastle.'

I'm Irish. Pale. Red hair. Green eyes. With a penchant for dark stouts and whiskey. Fado isn't what I would call an authentic Irish pub. Its Americanized, but in the best way possible. The place is a surprisingly large building, with dark heavy wood, dusky lighting, plenty of hidden corners and football (american or apparently what the rest of the world calls football, "soccer") playing on several tv's. Give it a moment and you will realize the music playing is UK artists only. Standard pub fare abounds (fish and chips, burgers, etc), but you get your Irish niceties in with boxty aplenty, your standard Irish breakfast, and a pulled lamb sandwich that made me want to cry. Yes, a pulled lamb "french dip" aint very Irish. But good lordy it was tasty. It's topped with English cheddar and accompanied with an au jus so good I wanted to drink it. This is quite possibly my new favorite sandwich. Drinks offered are what you would expect. Had an Irish coffee that was just right. Not too much coffee, and not too much booze. They pour a lovely pint of Guinness, and there is a whiskey list with offerings to make anyone happy (from the cheap to the pricey -- Johnnie Walker Blue anyone?) The service here was awesome too. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive (while not being overbearing). Our drinks were always fresh and we didnt feel neglected (even though the boy chose to sit at the very VERY back of the restaurant). Simple things add up to a lot of good here.

Fado is a great little place. I didn't see much of the bar, except the room the party I was attending was in, but it seemed like it was pretty crowded on a Wednesday evening - always a good sign. The food was pretty delicious. I had the Smithwick's sliders which looked tiny but were so filling. I wasn't a fan of the boxies, or whatever they were called. Pretty much they were french fries with seasoning and spices inside. The waiter informed me they were "potato pancakes" not french fries, but after much drunken discussion with friends, we still couldn't tell the difference. Wednesday was trivia night and it was quite difficult to hear the questions at times, but that could have been the rambunctious group I was with. The service was a bit slow at points in the night, but I think the waiter working our room was just overwhelmed. The wait staff was always friendly and having a place split up so many tabs when starting was fabulous. I definitely hope to check this place out again sometime soon!

Decent chain pub - good tap selections, tons of space including dancefloor and typically good music. Was there to watch the rugby semi-finals and had a great time - decent number of screens and viewing areas. Crowd is fun and not obnoxious.

Caught the tail end of happy hour as we threw a farewell party for one of our coworkers. I was a bit disappointed (though rather amused) with Fado even before stepping into the place. They have a sign outside that says to ring for handicapped assistance, below... a filled up hole where I imagine the doorbell used to be. Guess they don't want my business? One of my coworkers went in to ask them for help, but, while they have a lift on the side, it happened to be broken. Go figure. Got my coworkers to gently manhandle me into the pub instead. So after sitting down, a couple of us ordered the lamb sliders, salmon bites, corned beef rolls, and boxty fries. The sliders were pretty good, salmon bites rather salty (but it's smoked salmon, so to be expected), corned beef subpar and soggy, and boxty fries good but meager. For the amount of food each dish was, even happy hour prices seemed a bit on the high end - I'd say that the sliders were the only good value dish there. I also ordered their Strongbow Cider, which is the first time I've had beer cider before - I like it, much more than any other beers I've had (but I'm still a hard liquor kind of guy).

Decent Irish fare. Nothing spectacular as far as the food goes. We came in the middle of the day and it was empty. Maybe at night it gets a lot more fun.

Came here for a happy hour with a group of my co-workers. I wasn't impressed with their selection here of drinks/happy hour eats. There was only 1 beer, 1 wine, and 1 liquor that were discounted during their happy hour and the mini burgers that we had were a little too "fancy" and not what I was looking for. The fries that we ordered were also EXTREMELY greasy. The bottom of the plate was literally wet and the fries were swimming in it. All in all, wasn't a big fan. I'd rather go to the Brooklyn or McCormick's.

You definitely have to get here early before the St. Patrick's Day parade and check out their Irish breakfast. SOOOO YUMMY! The food here is relatively good and the beers fantastic. The decor is cool and classic pub feel. Definitely a place to check out. Only reason I don't give it four stars is well...I only go there once a year!

this review, as some of my others are, is purely solely for the bread pudding. so if you don't care about that, i guess you don't have to read this. the bread pudding here is chunky. mostly chunks of apples and nuts. it's not great and i don't think i would get it again. i guess the upside is that it comes with a pretty good ice cream. but there is no sauce! at least none that i could detect. however, their fries are pretty good and so is the price.

Before embarking on the 90min underground tour we decided to have lunch. After roaming the streets of Pioneer Square not finding anything to our liking. We pretty much said next restaurant we see we are heading to it. And there she was right across the street was Fado Irish Pub. You walk in and pretty much sit where ever you want. Our waitress was quick and helpful. I asked her for a local Seattle beer and she suggested I try Manny's Pale Ale. Very nice crisp pale ale with the slight taste of pine forest flavor. LOL that is the best I can describe the green hopsy taste. For lunch I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was two large pieces of fresh cod battered a bit heavily. Thick cut french fries and a side of coleslaw. I am not a fan of coleslaw but this one was very light, with cabbage, carrots, and a fine slice of red onion. Nothing to brag about this place, and there are probably better lunch spots in this area. But with no Yelp help at the time and wanting to get food in our tummy's this place was A-Okay.

So we show up here on our happy hour hopping trip to Pioneer Square and arrived to Ladies 80's night with fun music and a dance floor hopping with people. After we finished our absolutely amazing shepherd's pie, we also hopped onto the dance floor for a few songs before heading out to our next destination. It was a wonderfully memorable part of the evening.

Great ambiance! This is a great spot to come for happy hour, as the food is great and reasonably priced. Try the wings, and the onion rings. You won't be disappointed.

I came to Fado for a Living Social interview on a Monday evening for happy hour so I can't make too many judgements on this place compared to if I came on a Friday night. I will say, though, that the staff is super friendly and was great handling a group as large as ours during happy hour. The food we had - sliders and fries, etc - could've been better. I probably won't be back because I prefer more intimate venues than this place but I can see how it is probably a fun place to go downtown.

  • Jen B.

I would have to say that this place had a more sports bar atmosphere but the staff was friendly and the food was pretty good. I've had the hummus (I don't know how this can be greasy, but it was), the salmon bites (yum!), pear and blue cheese salad (always good), quesadilla (eh), but my favorite is the tomato mozzarella baguette that I drizzle olive oil on & a dash of salt & pepper. I didn't really like the seating arrangements- it seemed like the tables were not for smaller people (my feet couldn't touch the floor & the wood paneled "wall" at my back was hard & tall- which is how I like my men but not chairs) I am 5'5 and I know that I'm not that short. So anyway, I felt like Frodo Baggins eating away from the Shire.....

  • Benjamin P.

Crazy place! Went there when the Seattle PD was having some sort of celebration. Bag pipes, loud drums, and drunken Irish jigs everywhere in the small pub. Crazy! I felt rather underrepresented, of course, as I was the only Japanese/Black/Indian person there, but no one did the "wtf is he doing here" stare at me either. I'd probably come back the next time I'm in town. I can't imagine that it would be that raucous and CRAZY as it was then...

  • Erika E.

Their kitchen seems hit or miss. Some nights I've been here and the food was great, and other nights I would have been disappointed with the quality of what I ate even if I had paid half the menu price. Between that, the overpriced drinks, and how this place sometimes gets large and loud groups that make it seem more like a frat party than a friendly neighborhood joint, I probably won't be back often.

Wanted something REALLY Irish aside from a Guinness or maybe grilled Leprechaun! Nice Pub-like interior reminiscent of my travels on the Emerald Isle. It was a Tuesday evening and pretty quiet. I liked the somewhat chill vibe on the place on this night I went with Shepards Pie. Smallish perhaps European style serving. Not the greatest I've ever had. The mashed potatoe topping covered a beef stew which was a bit on the dry side. I did like the Soda bread on the side. The server was really great though and kept our glasses filled. Overall, I liked the feel of this place and will probably be back despite the less than glowing food review. I may try other Irish items on the menu like the corned beef and cabbage or the bangers and mash. Nice place though to hang out with friends!

So to be clear from the start, this is a review of how Fado functions as a sports bar (specifically soccer), which, I am aware, is not the reason that everyone goes there... Starting with a negative, the TVs aren't big or particularly well placed. Only a few of the tables really afford a good view of a TV and if it's crowded this can be an issue. Additionally, the times I've gone to watch a Sounders away game, one whole room (with reasonably located TV) was reserved by a Sounders fan club. I am not saying that all spaces should revolve around the television (at the time I didn't even have one in my house) but considering that the bar advertises its soccer matches heavily (see the Web site) one would think it would have a more TV-viewing-centric layout. Second the bar food is...well...bar food. My girlfriend and I tried a few things: the fries were, predictably, greasy, so we went with hummus and pita wedges. To our surprise the pita wedges were...yep...greasy and deep fried. Awesome. On the plus side, the servers were always helpful and didn't keep pressuring me to buy drinks throughout the game, a huge issue in a sports bar. The drinks themselves were good and the Bailey's / whiskey coffee is a great way to end...warm and alcoholic. All in all Fado is a pleasant bar...not really a soccer bar (which it is trying to be...this isn't something I'm forcing upon it) but if that's not what you're going for then I recommend it...

  • Nick P.

In context as a post-game drink stop... Pretty nice. Handled the post soccer crowds admirably and had a decent selection of euro beers on draft. Crowds were a bit much but not heinous enough to be a deal breaker.

I happened to walk in here on a Thursday night, and I was unpleasantly greeted by the sounds of really bad live music not unlike.....REM? What? A cover band is here? No. Not even close. There were just some really, really drunk REM fans in the back. Annoying. I had a pint of Guinness ($5.00 well spent) and my friend and I tried to order some bar food. We wanted chicken tenders, the cheese dip, and brown bread ice cream. We were hungry - stop judging. Our waitress came back with chicken tenders, cheese dip, and...no ice cream. We reminded her about the ice cream because we were serious about it. She came back with the check sans ice cream. We reminded her about the ice cream again, and she said, "I thought you were joking" and walked away. Thanks, YOU STUPID ICE CREAM THIEF.

Yesterday at lunch I realized that in 5 years, I've never been here when the sun was down. I can't attest to how it is after dark, so my review is limited to the day time. Countless mid-work-week lunches have I had here. Always surprisingly airy, bright, friendly, and a nice moderate noise level despite the crowd of business folks gathered for a beer or so at lunch. I've never been at a table for more than 5 minutes without having menus and my first beer. I've never been served food that wasn't exactly as described and exactly as expected. Servers and bartenders have always been pleasant and accommodating. At least a dozen weekend lazy afternoon has been spent kicking back enjoying a beer and a lunch and a beer, then perhaps another beer. Very relaxed, again - prompt and friendly service, and a decent view of the game from most of the bar areas. One very hung over mornings with an Irish National friend of mine. He claims the Bangers and Mash are as bad as the one his mum makes, said as he was scraping the last bits from his cleaned plate and finished his third "hair of the dog". Not sure much more needs to be said there. A quick note to the Fado bartenders: Hoegaarden is not served with a lemon wedge (orange baby!).

Like lots of Irish pubs, much of the food isn't actually Irish. But, you could certainly do worse, as there are a number of satisfying items on the menu.

I'm waiting for the IRA to declare war on this joint. It is a direct affront to all things Irish. The only thing missing is a leprechaun chasing a rainbow.

an irish pub would have never been my first choice to ring in the new year. good thing it wasn't my choice this year. great atmosphere. great drinks. great wings. wasn't too crowded... but we did meet up with some friends already at a table. i'll definitely be back to try things on a "normal" day.

I was pleasantly surprised that Fado was not quite the 'Fa-don't' I expected after my preliminary yelp research. Granted, I was about to tell the band EXACTLY what they could "do with a drunken sailor early in the morning" if they ambivalently launched into what must have been their 37th chorus. While I'll concur that I wasn't exceptionally inspired by the wait staff nor the "drink specials" - their boxties were some of the best I've had this side of Dublin... And really folks...bring this girl a pint and potatoes in a relatively speedy fashion - you're gettin' 4 stars.

I have been here a couple times now. The first time was for St. Patty's in 2010 and came for seconds after hearing about the Yelp Event happening here last Friday. I definitely enjoyed the experience inviting a number of my friends from out of town to partake in the great happy hour deals that lasted through the night. +++ Service: By far the best and most hospitable waitress I have ever encountered works here at Fado. Her name is Toni and if it were possible to ask for someone with better service would probably be a near impossiblity. I think she was the only one handling all of us Yelp! users in that room. There didn't look like there was a single moment that she wasn't getting badgered for food and drink orders. Never once did she seem to get flustered or confused about the orders even hours after we had arrived. It also helped to receive some freebies from Fado's after it was all said and done. + Food/Drinks: We ordered some appetizers off of the happy hour menu (i.e. Calamari Rings, Brushetta and at least one other item which I cannot remember). We ordered several different drinks as well(i.e. Guiness, Harp, Irish Car Bombs and Widmer). All were reasonable portioned, came out quick and were really good. I was surprised by the Calamari Rings, usually I find those suckers to be chewy at bars but Fado prepped them to be really tasty and soft. + Location: The place is dark and has plenty of space for parties, groups or even smaller tables for singles to mingle. It seems like a giant space that is organized to feel a lot more cozy. - Prices: This is where I feel like Fado falls a little flat for me. Total, my tab in the Yelp event was only $9 for the night but when I left the room to go have a quick Irish Car Bomb with some friends at the bar it costed I think $9-10 a piece. The pints even at happy hour prices costs $3.75. I think I would definitely come back here for special occasions like for a birthday party, prefunk before a Sounders game or some such but otherwise I would rather go elsewhere on an average weekend outing. It also helps to have a wonderful woman like Toni serving you!

I go to Fado's for trivia on Wednesday's. FYI: if you are going, get there early to secure a seat! It fills up fast. There is a good happy hour drink special, but my favorite is the happy hour FOOD special :)

We came here because we wanted to be close to the ferry, which was leaving in an hour. I'm glad we did. I ordered the grape kool-aid and the sliders. The grape kool-aid was ok....really didn't taste anything like the name suggested. The sliders were the redeeming item, and the superb service we got from the waitress. The sliders were huge, juicy and DELICIOUS! I will definitely re-visit for the service and sliders alone.

I enjoy the general ambiance of this place; the dark wood, the fireplace, separate areas for separate interests. We went a few times for breakfast and the food is quite good, though i seem to recall it being a bit heavy (and meat-centric). The first time we went it was slow and quiet and the service was excellent: friendly and quick. However, the seating wasn't terribly comfortable (the booth seat I was in was actually broken). And I understand it's an Irish pub, I do. Nonetheless, the second time we went there was a futbal game on and it was crazy loud and busy and the service was really slow. The TV alone was set to ear-shattering. Would I go again? Only if there's no futbal game on

I'm not really a fan of the cookie cutter "Irish pub" and so had never been in before last Friday night. Some friends of mine were drinking here though so I decided to stop by since I was downtown anyway. I was impressed! Even though it was crazily busy, we had good service at the table and the bartender was friendly when I went up to ask him a question. There was a band playing and while I can't usually stand live music in bars, these guys were pretty good and it wasn't too loud even though it was in the room next to ours. We had a few beers and split the black and tan brownie dessert which involved Guinness ice cream. SOLD. I didn't look at the rest of the menu but if there's anything vegetarian to be had, I'll be back to eat!

We had our rehearsal dinner here to pay homage to the Irish side of my family. It was perfect. We had about 55 people in our party, including about 7 children and everyone loved it. The food that was prepared for us was wonderful, hot, and was kept full as we gobbled it down. The waiters were very attentive and the restaurant manager attended to every need that we had. IT was on a Friday so the restaurant area was crowded and had live music, everyone was having fun. I appreciated how organized they were so that the other patrons were not ignored...I've been on the receiving end and it sucks. Overall we had a great experience and we will be going back for sure! We did go in about 3 times before to taste the food and to check out the atmosphere before we decided and each time it was great. I LOVE corned beef and cabbage and I have to say that besides my fathers real homemade dish, this is the best I have ever had. The mustard sauce is to die for. I have been to many of the other Irish pubs in Seattle, Renton, Kent, Bellevue, and Burien and I have to say Fado is much more consistent and flavorful. MY RECOMMENDATION...try the PICKLE BACK....sounds crazy but oh so good!!!

Tintin was starving so we got the bangers and mash, brown bread ice cream, Irish coffee and a Stella. The portions of food and ice cream were enormous and good, particularly the brown bread ice cream. I wouldn't call it a destination spot but the spacious bar, the large menu and excellent service would draw me back if I were in the area.

Fun place to go and hang out. I've been here numerous times and have never been disappointed. This place is definitely busy on St Patrick's Day and you need to get there early if you want a spot inside. Recently I met up with a friend on a Friday night for dinner and drinks. Our waitress Jocelyn was very nice and friendly. They have great happy hour prices AND their happy hour goes to 7pm! Whenever I go to an Irish place I always get the corned beef. I was not disappointed with theirs. Lots of cabbage and potatoes to accompany the corned beef. They slice the corned beef into strips. Oh man. It's making my mouth water just thinking of it! I think another visit is definitely in order...soon!

My wife and I stopped in for a drink and decided to stay for dinner. We had lamb topped fries with peppercorn sauce, was a great app! We also had a shredded lamb dip sandwich, very, very good. We were here on a Friday night and we were served quickly and never left wondering when we would see our waiter. Overall it was a fun, great experience. We will be back in the future.

Went in to get a drink for my 21st before hitting the ferry to the other side to meet up with my family. The bartender wished me a happy bday after asking to see my i.d. She then proceeded to pour my drink in front of me using a measuring cup. She measured out a shot, looked at it, and poured half back into the bottle, and put the other half in my drink. Then charged me $12 for the drink. Seriously disrespectful. Won't be going back there again.

We were up there with a bunch friends on a roadtrip and stayed close by downtown. We went here the first night out of convenience and were pleasantly surprised. It is a standard Irish pub with good bar food and great beers. The bartender/server we had was Irish and a loudmouth, but we thoroughly enjoyed her and she completed the Irish experience. I would recommend this place as a good Irish pub. I gave it four stars because it didn't wow me with any one thing, but was good all around.

Overrated. I've never liked this place. Yet, I find myself back here more often than I want due to coworkers. Last time, my group got pushed to different tables TWICE because of inaccurately marked "reserved" tables.

The first time, it was on St. Patrick's Day and it was packed. There was a live band playing. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Yesterday, I went there for the 2nd time. A regular weekdays, there wasn't anything specific going one. I had one of those corned beef boxty for dinner. It was great! I loved the horse radish creamy sauce. I am not a beer drinker, but I tried Harp Lager and Boddingtons. I was happy that I tried!

I went to Fado for their trivia night, and it was a lot of fun! They have happy hour from 4pm-7pm, so I got to enjoy their fish and chips. I tried a brownie with ice cream for dessert, and it was amazing! It was a fun atmosphere, and I would definitely go back on another trivia Wednesday.

I was disappointed in Fado. It looks nice but the food was rather mediocre, expensive, and some drunk girl stole my water glass, the remainder of my soup, and an onion off my boyfriend's plate. It was.... odd. To say the least. The time before that we spent forever waiting on drinks and granted it was busy but the waitresses blatantly ignored us. It was frustrating.

Came in with a giant group of friends and this place had plenty of room. They had live music the night I was there, which was fun. My friends and I enjoyed singing along. We just got some beers on tap, pretty standard. Their party platter (?) was good. Someone else ordered it so I'm not sure what it's actually called. It consisted of chicken quesadillas, chicken strips, and these crispy yet soft pita like triangles and cheesy dipping sauce. It was DELICIOUS! Service was nice and she made sure to come check on us once in awhile since we were tucked away in the back. I've gotta admit we had all already had a few drinks before coming here, so I'll have to go back to confirm this initial review...

Hands down the best shepherd's pie in Seattle, and great brews on tap to boot (Guinness, of course). Anytime I find myself missing "the old country" across the pond ... I head here. Honorable mention: Food: bleu cheese lamb sliders, and Smithwick's mini burgers. Beer: Black & Tan, and Widmer Hefeweizen.

Good atmosphere. Not a regulars hang out, so you don't get that neighborhood continuity, but a fun spot to come into for a great pint and/or glass of whiskey. Food is solid. It's a chain, but chain done right. Best whiskey selection is still Mulleady's in Magnolia, but unless you're specifically going out there, Fado delivers the Irish goods.

Met up with some friends that did the St Patrick's Day Dash. Other people had come in and sat down on the other side of the place. One man took it upon him self to be, how to explain, a complete loud mouth douche. They were politely asked by the bartender Carolyn to quiet down. That didn't work. They did then close their tabs. Though that didn't quiet them down. Finally the manager stepped in and tried to get them to quiet down or leave. That didn't go well. When one of the crazy women told him to go somewhere else he politely explained he worked here...I said being in an Irish bar doesn't mean you have to be loud and obnoxious to other patrons and the staff...Got a reaction I didn't expect. The guy wanted to charge me and then the trash girl decided to throw around the F word (derogatory gay). The staff here is outstanding and respectable!!

  • Kyrtin K.

The service is fairly standard, though on our first trip there they brought my wife a pint of cider when she only asked for a glass, which we only discovered when it came time to pay the bill. The burgers there are quite good, but still overpriced for what you get by at least 20-25%, which to me personally always takes away from the flavor and the experience. Another mark against them is that they host "Geeks Who Drink" on Weds nights which I had the misfortune of encountering one night at another restaurant, where they were about 30db louder than any Pub Quiz ever should be, to the point where I could hear them at the volume they should have been operating at with an index finger jammed into both ears, though that too caused me pain after a time. Besides this they also subject you to samples of horrible covers, which I had to physically step out of the restaurant for when last I encountered them. If you ever consider going here on a Weds night, just don't, go to Blue Moon Burgers and get a slightly better burger for half the price and without the significant irritation that is the misleadingly named "Geeks Who Drink".

Fado is by far the best "Pub" we've found in Seattle and we've been to most of them. The burgers are top notch, the Sheppard's Pie can't be beat on a winter evening. We've tried almost everything on their menu over the last year and have never been disappointed. They always have soccer on in the bar if there's a match and have the Premier League live even at 7 and 8am. Giving me a legitimate reason to drink Guinness at 8am should get them a 6th star. Breakfasts are just a good as the the rest of the menu, their cornedbeef hash is amazing. We'll be regulars.

We went to Fado's tonight and had a great waitress who new the menu and helped with the drink menu and what would be a good drink for my wife. When I asked where the bangors and mash were she told me that was removed from the menu about 2 1/2 years ago and she said there have been lots of complaints about it not being on the menu. I personally ate at Fado around 2/12 years ago and it was a full menu and now the dinner menu reminds me of a tavern menu with very few items that are dinner style for a party of 4. The menu needs to be upgraded with more irish foods which is one of the reason I went there. My wife and friends had great food from what they ordered but if you the corned beef was less than desireable that I received.

Stopped in late on a Saturday night for drinks. They had some pretty decent deals going - $3 KCCO black lager and PBR tall boys. As well as $4 shots of fireball, jaggermeister, pickelback, etc. Morgan our server was awesome and made sure we were constantly drinking. The band in the back room was tons of fun and created a great atmosphere. I'll be back in the future to try the food and watch some soccer

Horrible service, the servers are rude and snobby! They really don't care about customers returning. We came for a soccer game that they were showing, we got a table and sat down. We saw that the TV in front of us had something else on, so I asked the waitress if she could change the channel to the game. Then she says " the game is not my priority right now" and took off. I saw the manager/owner by the bar so I asked him and he came to change it. However, the waitress won't take our order and avoided our table for 45 min, while we sat there hungry and thirsty. I've received snobby treatment from a couple of servers here before, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. We all have bad days! But this is the third time and the third waitress who has this type of behavior. Not sure where they find these waitresses but the owner needs to revamp the staff if he doesn't want to lose customers. With all the bars around, Me and everyone I know don't need to go back here ever again!

Food and drinks were great! Went here for my father in laws bday and they ended up paying for his drink as a "happy birthday." The only reason I gave 3 stars was because our waitress seemed annoyed by us. Each time we ordered something she seemed put out and that we were inconveniencing her. That was the only downside of our experience.

I stopped in here recently with some friends for a quick lunch. The restaurant was fairly empty. The layout is nice, with pretty typical pub-type tables and woodwork. My friends sat down on one of the benches and the spring was broken, so we moved ourselves. The food was definitely good. I had the shepherd's pie, which was very flavorful - above average. We all split a mini fish and chips appetizer and the fish was very fresh and delicious. The other items - hummus platter and gyro - were also pretty good. The service was a bit slow, which surprised me given it wasn't busy, and at one point my friend noticed the waitress seemed engaged watching the game on TV, which may have explained it. It could have used some background music or something to pick up the ambiance a bit. I'd stop back in a pinch, or if I really am in need of some good shepherd's pie, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to go there.

After the heart-wrenching defeat of our beloved Seahawks, wanted something light, but tasty. The only problem was that sooo many places were closed. Ended up close to "home" at Fado's Irish Pub. The good thing is that we were seated right away, and were able to sit a bit away from the music, which churned out tunes from the Beatles to Kenny Chesney. Bullit Manhatten was really tasty...and a heavy pour... but only wished the food was as good. Vegetable salad (no lettuce?) was ok, and beef sliders were usual. Looking forward to some great bread, but buns were just so so. Fish (3 rather small pieces) was pretty good, and it was hot, which I loved. Was looking forward to the hand cut fries, and they were okay, but nothing to rave about. Have to say portion was pretty good, even though this listed as an appetizer. Maybe it would have tasted better if we had won, but on a chilly, rainy Seattle evening, this place did not do much to lift my spirits.

Great place to eat, drink and hang out. It's crowded on the weekends and you seat yourself but I loved that. The staff are friendly and great. Even though the food takes a bit long to get to your table the wait is well worth it. My friends and I will definitely becoming here again

I was recently in Seattle to see the Vancouver Whitecaps take on the Seattle Sounders. Some of the Vancouver fans had suggested going to Fado before the match. While a sizeable amount of the "Gorilla FC" group had gathered there before the match, we found no problem with the two groups being in the same place. In fact, a very nice member came up and introduced himself and we had a very nice conversation. I had been familar with Fado, as on a trip to Philadelphia, our small Whitecaps group went to that location. I found them to be similar, with this location to be a bit better because there was more space and the layout was tons better. The service was really good and prompt. I was able to get a drink in even though I had a tight timeline. I went back after the match and was pleased to see the kitchen still open and a bunch of Sounders fans/Whitecaps fans dancing it up on the small dance floor. I was SO stoked to finally get my hands on the Harp Lager Cheese and Bacon sauce drenched chips. This is like heaven. Such a fan of Harp so putting cheese and bacon on top of that is probably the best thing for me. THE. BEST. If your a soccer fan (Sounders or not), stop by for a pre-match drink.

I stopped with coworkers in for a beer while in town on business. We first visited this place a good 10 - 15 years ago and it's been a regular stop ever since. The atmosphere is fantastic. I really love all the nooks and crannies. The beer is typically Irish pub with Guinness, other European options and a few locals mixed in. It's a great place to relax and unwind.

Excellent service. Awesome beers on tap, and there always seems to be a rowdy, lovely crowd. Geeks Who Drink Quiz/Trivia at 6:30 on Wednesday nights is a ton of fun. Double check first about sporting event schedules--the place gets packed since it's close to both stadiums.

Typical sports bar with lots of TVs offering patrons a choice of games to watch. I came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch a soccer game with some friends. It took us awhile to get a table and then to get served. The waitress was nice but stretched somewhat thin. I ordered the fish and chips and my husband had the (beef) shepherd's pie. My chips were great (potato wedges). The fish, while a huge portion (good!), was a little fishy (bad!). The shepherd's pie was pretty good, but it's hard to go wrong with ground beef and mashed potatoes. Decent but I wouldn't come here just for food.

My first choice for Seattle Irish dining! They get great bands, a tasty menu, and is no secret to the public. Always a great fun time, but can get very packed. Lots of space to discover and it can be a little dark, but great location and easy to grab a cab/bus to/from.

Love the layout and atmosphere of the place. it is very Irish Themed and many happy and fun people attend this historically cultural restaurant. I have visited several times for different occasions, business, charity, pleasure, happy hour, weekends, pre-game events. Fado's has been reliably consistent on their theme, crowd expectations, and fun atmosphere with every visit and I appreciate that very much. The food is above average and the bar never disappointed me. Thank for the good times! You have yourself a fan! See you next week!

We only dropped in here for a quick drink before the underworld tour across the way. The place was larger then it looked from the outside and decked out like a boozer back home. Guinness was spot on which to be honest surprised me so I had to have another. The Irish lady who served us was great, funny friendly and tempted us with some food from the early bird menu. $4's for fish and chips and it was amazing. 3 Prefectly cooked mini fresh fillets and home made chips that where stunning. After my third pint we had to leave to make our booked adventure but before we did so we both got a huge friendly hug from our waitress. If your close by drop in, you won't be disappointed.

I love this restaurant! The first time I was here was for a company holiday party last year. The atmosphere is great, the staff is awesome, and the food is fantastic! We had so much fun with the pub quiz that they gave our group and I liked that we had a whole area, including part of the bar, to ourselves. Since then I have gone back quite a few times with friends to enjoy happy hour, dinner, and many games of Cards Against Humanity. We always make a reservation unless it's a spur of the moment dinner and they accomodate for the under-21's in our groups when we ask and seat us away from the bar area. I've also gone solo a few times to watch sports and drink many, many glasses of hard cider.

Ok, you guys. This place was awesome! The drinks are strong, the service is good, and the food was fantastic (: For starters--you've got to get the Irish Breakfast Shot! Anything that includes bacon as a chaser wins. And it's tasty, so there's that too. The appetizers were so good! We had the mini lamb sliders and the cheese filled pastry puffs (don't remember what they were called but dang they were good) and the cheese dip. All are well worth it. When it came to the entree menu, I was a tad skeptical at first. Not a lot of options and I was wary of their "authentic" Irish fare. I had the shepherd's pie..covered in colcannon..with a side of cabbage and bacon. It was SO good. The bf had the full size pulled lamb dip and it was delicious! I don't know what the other guys had..but it was gone before I even got halfway through mine so that must mean something. I literally can't think of a single bad thing to say. Just go. You won't regret it.

I would give this place 4 stars. The beers on tap are pretty good. The Guinness here is tasty. Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy beer and food before, during or after a game. The bathrooms aren't very clean but most sports bars in Seattle are never nice.

Came here for New Year's Eve 2013. Fado had a great crowd and a good DJ. Our waiter was fun and was cracking jokes with our group all night. We only ordered appetizers but they tasted amazing. The Guinness BBQ wings are the food to order... So good that we had to order them again. The quesadilla was very different. Overall the atmosphere was fun and the prices were fair. Going back for sure!

Just finishing lunch here and you wish you were me. One person had the chicken tenders. This ain't your fast food tenders! Hot and crispy, fresh and real, served with excellent mustard honey sauce. My 14 year old son got the burger. Huge, so huge a 14 year old boy couldn't quite finish it. I sampled the burger. I'm not a burger girl but this was so good I might get it next time, wonderfully seasoned, like a savory slab of meatloaf on a toasted bun. I had the shepherds pie which was really good. We shared the thick cut chips with curry sauce and Marie Rose sauce. A hit with everyone! Good service too!

Maybe it's because we had been wandering around Pioneer Square for an hour looking for a dinner spot, but Fado was an unexpectedly great meal. An Irish pub through-and-through. We were seated at a table in the back of the restaurant (away from the bar, filled with rowdy locals cheering for the Sounders), and started the meal with a small plate of tasty smoked salmon, served on top potato pancakes. It being an Irish pub, I couldn't pass up the shepherd's pie as a main. Made with beef, rather than lamb (doesn't that make it a cottage pie..?) and filled with cabbage and veggies in a thick beef gravy, tucked under a mashed potato crust, it was hearty and delicious. The Guinness-and-cheddar bread on the side was unfortunately lacking in flavour.

Friday Night: Pros: Unlike other bars nearby, this one has a more youthful crowd. mid 20's to early 30's and dancing in the back room. The bar is divided into 3 areas which is great if you dont want to leave but you need a change from what you've got. Front room is the bar, back room is for performances and dancing, and the north room is the restaurant. The architecture is very nice and clean with historic elements to it. The north rood had a fireplace and is very quite hang out to get some food before going to the back room for some dancing and loud music. The staff is attractive and fun to talk with. Cons: The crowd was kind of rowdy, reminded me of a sweaty dorm room dance party. Keep in mind this is not a club, its a bar that acts like a club. Right outside the bar was 2 or 3 homeless people begging for money, and the whole neighborhood was full of bums. It did not feel safe walking up and down the streets. All the other bars and clubs nearby are primarily meat factories filled with an older crowd. This is not a place for cocktail dresses and semi-formal attire. The only young and hip areas nearby are primarily asian, so be prepared to be a minority, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your mentality. Overall: If I was pre-gaming in Pioneer Square I wouldn't mind returning to this place. Its a good place to take a few friends or pick up a date. Nice for casual events or an easy going night on the town. Not good for dressing up or going on a date. Food was average bar food, but maybe the daylight food was better when the kitchen was open.

I attended a group event at Fado's. It was memorable. They brilliantly set aside a portion of the establishment for us. We had great food, great libations, and a great time. The glasses the wine came in were the nice big wine glasses that made you feel like royalty. The other beverages were also served in appropriate glasses. The group was probably 60 people. The staff was on top of everything. I WILL be going back!

Best fish tacos and BBQ chicken wings in Seattle. Huge selection of alcohol with a friendly staff. Be ready to meet a couple Irish lads and ladies there looking to share their Irish hospitality. Great for pre funks before ball games. Right on the way to the stadiums. I'd highly recommend Fados!! Get the fish tacos and a pint of Guinness!

[UPDATE 7/8] I returned to Fado to give their burger another shot. This time I tried the Gourmet Burger. It was completely different from the Bacon Burger I had previously. The Gourmet Burger was absolutely delicious. It was juicy, tender, and very tasty. The staff members were all very helpful and made sure I had a great experience. I really appreciate the extra mile Fado went to rectify the situation and show me what they are capable of when it comes to food. I'm not going to let the one bad burger experience keep me away from Fado. They have proved it was an anomaly and their customer service efforts hold great value to me as a customer. Good job, Fado. [UPDATE 6/23] After posting this review, I was promptly contacted by a manager at Fado to rectify the poor experience. You can't tell from the public note the manager left on my review, but she did send me a private note and made it clear that she understood why I could not bring the problem to their attention while I was there. She also provided detail about the mustard, although I find it a bit odd that an Irish establishment would use an English mustard to "stay true to European roots"...maybe you need to be European to understand that one. Regardless, I appreciated the explanation but would still love to see regular yellow mustard on the table next to the regular ketchup. The manager took appropriate actions, including connecting with her GM, to understand the situation internally, then chose a good course of action externally. I really appreciate it when establishments are quick to work to solve issues, and I think Fado has done just that. I am adding a star back to this review because of good post-experience customer service. Thank you, Fado. --- I've been to Fado many, many times. It's a great place to grab a beer with friends. It's a great place to watch soccer...and there is typically a European crowd present. It holds a solid place in the Seattle bar scene. Last week my manager took me out to lunch for my birthday. It was during the World Cup so there was quite a crowd. I liked how they have multiple TVs set up so that you can watch the World Cup from almost any seat in the house. They do a great job utilizing every seat in the house. We both ordered the bacon burger. Unfortunately, it was the most horrendous hamburger I've ever received. I'd rather eat McDonalds. I ordered it cooked Medium and it came out so dry and charred, that every bite was a struggle. Of course, I didn't want to offend my manager who took me there for my birthday so I choked it down and couldn't even say anything to the waitress (who was very nice and attentive). Granted, it was a very busy day for them due to the soccer matches, so I assumed that the poor quality food was due to an overwhelming number of orders for food. Still, it was unacceptable. And the fries were just okay, too. One thing that I also noticed was that they don't have regular yellow mustard. I tried the English mustard they have available and it was definitely different...a little too different for me. Overall, Fado is a great place. I prefer to go to Fado during off-hours because it can become very crowded at times...especially on weekends. If you like a rowdy crowd, you'll love Fado on a Friday or Saturday night or during a soccer game.

Just arrived in Seattle with a group and this was the pub our friends decided to meet up at with other fellow travelers. Staff was able to seat a large portion of our group inside but could only offer another table at another side of the room for the rest. Kind of stupid since our group made up most of their business on this random weekday. Instead we decided to sit outside, this was our grave mistake. The dining and experience was grossly different between the two groups. The group inside had a great time, great service and enjoyed their meals for the most part. Many of them if giving a review would probably give a 3 or 4 star rating. The only negative comment was about their soup which tasted of the frozen variety and extra salty. First off, I've been to many happy hours at Fado in Chicago (actually the far NW suburbs) it's a chain and some items off their menu are often frozen favorites. Sitting outside in their beer patio sucked balls. First, we got there early afternoon on a weekday and too early for their happy hour. Nothing good on special and their regular pricing on beers and booze is extravagantly high. I should note that if service had been better, much of these details we wouldn't have minded but service stunk! Time elapsed for drinks for our table (first drink): thirty minutes. Time elapsed for first appetizer: forty minutes. Time elapsed for condiments (i.e. ketchup): waiting and waiting.. fifteen minutes after asking our waitress for them and not seeing anyone come back, I said fuck it and entered the bar and got all condiment bottles myself. If management is reading, when I entered I made sure to grab bottles off an empty table and I checked at the bar for an assortment. No, no one stopped me or asked what I was doing. My second drink never arrived. We got to the pub two hours before our next leg of travel which was by boat. The boat launch was down the street from this pub but it took two hours for us to receive much of our food and booze. As the rest of the group were finishing inside and heading out for a smoke, this is when a majority of our orders started to hit out table. We told staff we were all together and were traveling together. Such an idiotic and stupid experience. Had it not been a wedding party I would have left after the first ten minutes of wait. Twenty minutes plus for six people to get a first drink when it's not that busy is ridiculous. Also the waitress admitted to forgetting some orders. This is exactly an experience a traveler does NOT want to have soon after arriving at a travel destination. FYI for any other travelers, booze + McDonald's and Subway are available at the boat launch.

My boyfriend an I have given this place a try a few times, and last night was when we threw in the towel. While the service was alright, the food and drinks were definitely not. I ordered a simple Jameson whiskey and a diet coke back, and what I received was a mostly empty shot glass with the tiniest amount of whiskey I have ever been served. I asked the server where the rest of my whiskey was, and she said " it's a measured pour" ( measured with what? a teaspoon?!!) Oh, and the whiskey was $8 . To make matters worse the food took nearly an hour after ordering, and it was cold when it arrived at our table. Normally when we have an experience like this ( which almost never happens), we just chalk it up to an off night for the venue. I had worked in the bar industry for over 15 years, and lets face it, we all have off nights. Unfortunately, we have been convinced that Fado's "success" is largely the product of its location, and not the quality of its product.

Quick and simple: Lamb sliders achieve greatness with the au jus. Get the thick-cut fries with the Guinness mayo. Too good to describe. Thick fries have a light crunchy crust but this amazingly light-fluffy inside. Do Not order the thin fries, as I can't imagine fries better than the thick ones here. Serious!

I love you, Fado. I live right across the street from Kells and I still come to you. Is it because of the happy hour? No, because I'd gladly pay regular price for the awesome food/service and have before, but I won't lie, it is nice. Sounders games there I hear are lovely, though I haven't been yet, simply because loud noises and crowds kind of make me uncomfortable. Pardon my odd sense of comfort, I'm an old, bearded hermit who speaks in rhymes, trapped inside a 20-something year-old girl. The portions are awesome & the prices are fair. Also, Fado has won my heart by serving Strongbow on tap. The Guiness bbq wings are out of this world & I don't care who is watching me pigging out on them. The burgers here are pretty awesome, but at tad much for my hobbit frame. So... Guiness bbq wings & cider, or go home. It is also worth noting that their healthy choices/veggie options look pretty good as well! I plan on ordering that pear salad-meal-thingy next time. The waitstaff are a lovely bunch, while the atmosphere is rustic and gorgeous... it truly feels like you're sitting in an Irish pub - save for the obvious. I am blown away by how many rooms there are in this pub and the seating arrangement. Strange thing to compliment, yes, but again, crowds make me uncomfortable, so avoiding crowds and loud noises is possible here, as it is rare for a pub. Especially during the day/evening, and sometimes at night depending on the day of the week. A+ for Fado!

Was in here at night this past Sunday to get a drink. As I was sitting with my drink I had a cockroach crawl across my hand. I went to talk to the guy behind the bar who I assume was the manager (mid 30s, glasses, dark polo) but he was too busy taking shots with his friends, so I left. If the manager can't be bothered to not get drunk with his buddies and take care of customers, then I can't be bothered to drink here. Avoid this place.

Dear Random Yelp User - I would just like to echo the sentiments that Corey S. articulated in his review from June 1, 2014. To this "Corey S." person, I'd like to thank you and commend you for your veracious review of Fado's in Seattle. I had a nearly identical experience at that "business" and I'm glad that someone like yourself had the pensiveness and determination to eloquently speak up about it. Now, I don't want to interpolate all chain restaurants into this conversation because I do frequent many of them (such as Chipotle) from time to time, but I will say that I am disappointed that Fado's thinks they are above the standards of customer service that is necessary in today's society. Personally, I don't have time for the clear lack of respect and failure to acknowledge or even recognize what patrons have to deal with at this unwelcoming excuse for a dining establishment. Anyways, I really appreciate your efforts to fight the good fight on this matter of contention. Chin up buddy, there are plenty of other great restaurants in the area that you should really milk for all they're worth. Hope our paths cross again sometime on Yelp or somewhere other than Fado's. Come to think of it, they should name that place Fa-don'ts. Am I right?

Went here to watch a football match between the Timbers and Sounders. It was fun getting a pitcher of mimosa and their beer selection was decent, but there is literally nothing vegan on the menu. We ordered chips with dipping sauces and I think the only one that was vegan was the catsup. Ugh.

Reviewing based off of elite event: The drinks and food were awesome! Pork belly was delicious as were the sliders. After the event we ordered fish tacos and they were darn tasty too! Overall, the happy hour menu looks to be pretty awesome. The next time I'm in downtown around happy hour, I'll be stopping by. Reasonably priced, friendly service, delicious food. What more can you ask for? Why 4 stars instead 5 stars? Well....after the event the service slowed down a fair amount. Oh well.

I didn't have high expectations going to eat and drink here so it ended up being better than expected. The place wasn't packed for the MLS Final and the NFL games so we had no trouble getting a table. The TVs were marked by which game they were going to show. Most showed the Seahawks game but there were others showing a few other NFL games. The Sunday special was $3 mimosas (can't beat that!) and $8.50 bloody mary's. I had the shepard's pie which I really enjoyed although it was a bit too rich. My husband filled up on the sliders and some salmon appetizer. He said he liked both. The service was pretty good. I would consider going again.

Oh my goodness. Ok let me repeat that - oh my goodness. Our table had ordered cheese burgers of various degrees, fish and chips, and the chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla, which had potato pancake as the tortilla part- very interesting. We dissected and thought this one over thoroughly. The fish was awesome! And apparently the burgers as well. And finally the fries-goodness ThE FRIES!! Totally crisp and delicious not greasy at all. Our whole table was a foodie paradise function! Will comeback on our next trip!

I found myself at Fado's for an event that had 35 people attending. The atmosphere was great, it had that classic Irish pub feel with heavy duty wood furniture, wooden floors, not too low, but not too bright lights. They had placed the event in this small room off to the side. Now, this is what kind of got me. There were 35 confirmed people but only room for about 20 people to sit. Appetizers were provided by the event so they set up a table for them which further limited the space. Luckily I grabbed a small table off to the side, but it became crowded very quickly. There were also additional people passing through the space constantly as the bathrooms were behind us, so it made it even more crowded. I'm not sure whose oversight that was - the event for poor planning or Fado expecting people would mingle outside the reserved space. I didn't get a chance to sample any of the appetizers so I ordered a cheeseburger and a well drink and enjoyed the company. The cheeseburger was ok. It wasn't anything spectacular and not something that would draw me back to Fado's. The service was good, and understandly harried as I don't know too many servers who manage well under the demands of 35 people.

I have com hear several times during lunch or for happy hour and have enjoyed it every time. Great for big groups during happy hour. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. During lunch the have great soups and salads, I recommend the gorgonzola salad! Perfect for the rainy days in Seattle. During dinner the fish and chips or the lamb burger are awesome! Highly recommend if your in the area and want to have some Irish food!

It's essentially your typical Irish pub, but they get everything right here. There are several dining areas and a very large wrap around bar. Service is outstanding and upbeat. The employees all seemed to enjoy being here. You could just tell. I went one evening with a bunch of coworkers just for drinks. I highly recommend the Ginger Ale. I'm serious. It's really good. Order it on the rocks. Of course, they also have alcohol. Lots of it. On the second night we went back and had dinner. I usually order the Shepherd's Pie when I go to these places so I kept with tradition and ordered it here. This one was perhaps the best SP I've ever had anywhere. They doctor it up all nice and special (see photo). It is a must try if you are at all hungry. Fado fan, here. I'll be back.

Great for beer and atmosphere. I'm on the Pub Trivia team, so it's great getting downtown every week from the suburbs. Sinead is a character and the rest of the staff are fun and accommodating. Stick with the happy hour snacks and you'll have a nice, low-cost evening. Also, ask for the beer special of the month, usually it's pretty good.

Great place to visit for an authentic Irish breakfast, and I'm Irish, so I'd know ;) Not many Irish pubs or restaurants I've visited have the truly authentic Irish 'fry up'. A fry up is a huge breakfast featuring Irish sausage, blood sausage, baked beans, eggs etc ... but Fado's have it! And it's delicious! I enjoyed my visit and very much enjoyed their Irish coffee. I highly recommend this place. The decor is fabulous and the service was wonderful. Definitely somewhere I'd go back to more than once!

Very much an Irish pub and restaurant in its trappings, the Fado menu combines some traditional Irish dishes with a few which aren't at all traditional. We started with the salmon bites, small potato pancakes topped with a tiny mince of salmon; very good. Our sons both ordered the shepherds pie, and enjoyed it; it is made with beef, rather than lamb. I found the corned beef platter and cabbage to be ample, and tasty, but drenched in an unusual wine gravy. It definitely would have benefitted from much less of this gravy, and some mustard in its place. Dessert was a shared order of their brown bread pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce-- very good. Although hardly memorable, Fado serves good food.

I hadn't been to Fado for YEARS until just earlier this summer. I had a good experience then, and recently came back to try some new menu items! The Cheese Puff and the Pork Belly were my two faves. I could've eaten those for days. So delish! The salmon and burger bites were my lesser favorites...but i think that was a texture thing for me. I love how they do their Jameson and Ginger. Theirs is made with Ginger Beer, which made it extra delicious, and a little less sugary sweet (which I appreciated). This place is a very classic Irish Pub, has trivia nights and live music, and there's always a lively atmosphere.

I wanted to write an update because I've been back to Fado since my last 2-star posting. To sum it up real quick, I didn't have the greatest experience and therefore considered not going back. But I wanted to be fair and let everyone know that Fado made a very sincere effort in winning back my seal of approval, and they got it. This past experience at Fado was a very positive one, as Fado had assured me it would be. I came with about 10 coworkers to celebrate one of their birthdays, and Fado was generous enough to comp a round of drinks and provide some food platters on the house to make up for last time. The food platters had like chicken strips, quesadillas, and a kind of pita bread thing paired with cheese dip. YUM. The staff at Fado that night was very attentive and we were served by one of their senior staff members. I want to say her name MIGHT have been Katie, but honestly I totally suck with names. She was quite easy on the eyes, if that helps. Anyway, our server helped make our night a good one. She was friendly without being fake, she listened to all of our drink orders and checked in on how we were doing regularly even though I know she was busy. Overall, we had a very solid experience and I will once again recommend Fado to anybody in the downtown Seattle area looking for a chill venue with stiff pours and a good vibe. Cheers, Fado. We'll see you again sometime soon.

I haven't been to Fado in awhile. A number of us wanted to take a co-worker to lunch for her birthday. Someone else organized it but I reserved it through Open Table since I already have an account. I made the reservation for 6 of us (since you can't be guaranteed a table for that size on a Friday in the business district) and we all headed down there at the appointed time of 12:00 PM. We got there a bit before 12:00 PM and stood to wait for someone to seat us. A female staff member with dark hair came over and told us to sit anywhere. We stopped her and the birthday girl explained that we had a reservation. The staff member ignored her and continued buzzing around. I repeated what she said and told the staff member that we had a reservation and would like to be seated. She responded by telling me that it didn't matter and we should sit anywhere. Not wanting to make a fuss on a festive occasion, we simply let the birthday girl choose where to sit. There wasn't a table that could handle 6 people in that section (surprise) so we had to pull two large, heavy tables together. Our female server (also with dark hair, but not the staff member that blew us off) came over, took our drink order and did all of the things you would expect. At about 12:20 PM, as we were waiting for our food, a male server came by (his name was Trey and I'll explain later why I asked for his name). Trey came by our table and asked if anyone at the table was named Monica, which is me. I waved and he showed me the 'reserved' sign in his hand and explained that he had been holding a table for our reservation. I explained what had happened when we arrived and he handled the situation beautifully. He said that he was sorry that happened, that he would let the manager know, and hoped we would have a great lunch. He also asked who the birthday girl was and after I pointed her out, he wished her a happy birthday. Four of the six dishes came out and four of us sat and waited. The birthday girl told us we could eat but the reality is that dishes should come out all at once. Failure to do so means that the kitchen is not running properly and some food will be cold, some hot, and diners will be awkwardly looking at each other, waiting for the rest of the dishes to arrive. That's exactly what happened. Having been to Fado before, I already knew that I had previously not been impressed by the food quality but it was the birthday girl's choice. I had the corned beef sandwich and broccoli salad (in place of the fries). I appreciated that they were willing to substitute the fries. The broccoli salad was bland and there were not any condiments to spice it up. The corned beef was sliced nicely, the apple onion relish was tasty, and although the menu talked about horseradish mayo, there was absolutely no heat at all. Bland, bland, bland. I will say that the two people who ordered burgers were very pleased with their dishes. None of the remaining four of us commented on our food (I believe we were all being kind for the birthday girl, who had a burger). Our server did come by to check on us when we were 3/4 of the way done eating. A very kind man came by and refilled soft drinks but 4 of the water glasses on the table remained completely empty throughout our lunch. I will say that I was going to give this review less than three stars but Trey's level of service helped to bump the score up a little. I asked for his name because he was at his station near the door when we left. On the way out, he wished the birthday girl a happy birthday again and she smiled.

Came in with a big group of friends after a Sunday Mariners win and this place had a great space in the front corner for us to fill with no reservation. Plenty of privacy and room. They had live Irish music in one of the other rooms that some of us hung around for a while. My friends and I enjoyed clapping along. We just got some beers on tap, shots and car bombs. Some of us were really hungry and the food was well received. Not sure what all we had but it included beef sliders, lamb sliders, lamb dip with au jus, mac 7 cheese, chicken strips, french fries...It was all DELICIOUS! Service was nice and she made sure to come check on us once in awhile since we were tucked away in the corner. We had been drinking at the game and brunch beforehand so our ordering had a tendency to be all over the place and she did miss a couple of drink orders. Still, most of us had a good time!

This review is based on one visit. I was looking for a bite to eat in Pioneer Square with my family just before dark. We were seated away from the bar in a cove with some other tables. This place is decorated very nicely. My wife and I both had the Corned Beef and Cabbage and my kids both had the fish and chips. We all liked our food. I had a few beers as well. The service was very friendly but also very slow. We had three different servers in the time that we were there. Overall, the place seems like a great place to have a drink and eat as well.

Well... it's a bar and it doesn't charge a cover on weekends... nothing special but hey, it's Seattle. Pros? -Reasonably priced beer on tap -Dance floor -A mix of music Cons? -Sometimes the music is so random it's hard to get into a groove -No food later in the night

While not exactly "authentic" (whatever that means these days), Fado is decent pub to grab a beer and some grub. Like its counterparts in DC and other cities, it has multiple rooms, which each look and feel different. Prices are a tad high but the food is pretty good - I would recommend the black/white puddings as well as the bread pudding. Fado is a hotspot for soccer fans with framed jerseys on the wall, and is extremely hospitable and accomodating to groups (particularly for Chelsea supporters on tour).

Usually avoid Irish bars because there are literally 1000s of them at home. But dropped in on a whim on a Thursday night. They were in full-on cleaning mode and less than an hour from closing. Turns out it was cleaning night. After some banter including the inarguable "would you like a dirty bar?" I ordered a beer. For no other reason than decent-ness I got a free beer. And a high five which is under rated as a customer service tool IMO. 5 stars, would drink again :-) nice job to the staff, and management who managed to have staff working diligently in cleaning while still happy and customer focussed. Raising the standards against usual Irish pubs abroad.

Review based on my rehearsal dinner I had here on June 21, 2013. First off, before I get to the meat of the review, you have to understand our limitations. My husband is military, we were paying for the wedding ourselves, and our family was flying in and our friends have all had elaborate weddings we have been too. So when we were looking at places for rehearsal dinner, we needed a place with alcohol that would hit under $1500 for 25 people. Fado delivered what we wanted in that respect. We were seated in the back room which had more than enough room and since two of our guests have a 2 year old and it is an Irish pub - they were able to accommodate us by "using" the Washington state law to their advantage in that the separate room was not part of the bar (even though it was a 5 second walk). The food we chose was all buffet style - salad and apps were great. The app everyone loved was the salmon / potato pancake thing - its nothing special - smoked salmon on a small potato pancake-like wafer with garnish, but since everyone just flew in on Friday and this was their first taste of local salmon they all enjoyed it. This was followed by the skewers we ordered and quesadillas - which you are probably scratching your head on. The quesadillas were "Irish" style, done with a potato "tortilla" and filled with good cheeses. It was interesting and everyone enjoy it. My husband being the glutton, ordered both corn beef sandwiches and lamb sliders which both hit the spot as everyone enjoyed racking up the open tab we had. The food came out to be ~$1000 and we over ordered - all the guests took home little mid-night snack boxes filled with corned beef sandwiches and skewers. This is what I get for marrying a glutton. The waitress there was by far one of the most professional and nicest ones we have had ever. She always was walking about asking the guests what they wanted and she also let my husband know they could smoke on the patio. The guys pretty much took it over with the traditional guys cigar smoke out and turned the patio into something reminiscent of a New York city cigar bar. The only issue we had is when we first showed up - and it was a miscommunication. When we first booked the reservation we chose the smaller "cigar room" but after eating there we flip flopped back and forth before settling on the bigger room. After our rehearsal at the Space Needle (if you have not checked out this location for your wedding - read my review - its amazing) - we came and they had set up the smaller cigar room. After talking with our coordinator, Stephanie, for about 5 minutes, she had us set up in the right room. My husband took care of that one and I could tell he was a little upset because he wanted to make sure my wedding was the one I always dreamed of and he didn't want to have the rehearsal start it on the wrong step. All in all, Fado was perfect - just make sure to be very specific which room you want.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the last time that I went to Fado. Admittedly, it's difficult to eat lunch here as someone who doesn't eat mammal, however they previously had no problem allowing custom orders. The last time I went, I tried to order my usual of a side of fry toast, a side of mushrooms, and two eggs and the waitress didn't understand and so I said that I basically wanted the Irish breakfast without the meat, which she did understand. I received my meatless Irish breakfast and was happy... until I received the check, which charged me for the meaty-breakfast price, aka I had to pay $14 for two eggs, fry toast, and mushrooms. To add insult to injury, my friend and I split the bill, and apparently the waitress never passed a math class because my half of the bill ended up being about $4.50 more than my friend's. Normally, splitting the bill means you either a) split the check 50/50 or b) charge us individually for what we ordered. I have never seen it split randomly and after being charged too much for my meal to begin with, it didn't make the lunch any better. In short: vegetarians be wary. This place isn't veg-friendly and you may have to pay the veg-tax if you try to make it that way. No fun at all.

Had the bleu cheese lamb sliders. They were $11 and you only get 3. They didn't taste that great. Our waitress was nice and was patient while we watched the game. Drinks were not expensive, they were average. We would go there agin to watch a game, but not for food.

I came here on a work lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The area in general, just isn't that pretty on the outside. So, when the food came out presented in neatly on a long white plate, I was like "Uh, what is this?" but in a good way. I ordered just a bacon cheeseburger, but it was a good, meaty burger on very tender bread. The fries were crisp, and salted nicely too. It was a group of like 20 people, so I'm not sure why they only decided to give us one waiter -- it was a bit of a wait in between glasses of water. But, I'm high maintenance when it comes to restaurants. In all, I would definitely come back here for lunch again.

I'm sure this place is right down your road if you're one of those who likes to drink Guiness and contemplate what it's like to be in jolly old Dublin reading something Yeats penned out. A few weeks ago I stumbled in here on a Tuesday night because I had to shit. I bought a beer afterwards and it set me back $9. That's 9 chances I could've had on the lottery but that's not really your fault.

This is a pretty good bar. I like the cool wood interior. The food is pretty tasty, there is lots of good beer on tap, and it isn't too expensive. It won't change your life, but it is worth stopping by.

I came over for brunch on a Saturday and it was really crowded. Can't blame them since Seattle Sounders were playing that day. I had the Irish Breakfast and it was great! Obviously, it was the first time I had an Irish breakfast so I can't say anything much but based on what I had, it was good and my tummy was happy.

Went for happy hour to watch a soccer game. Happy hour food was all really good, and made better by the fact that it was four dollars a dish! Pork belly was yummy, fish tacos were surprisingly good (I don't know, Irish bar? Wasn't expecting greatness), and this was the first time I had peas in my Mac and cheese. All good. Though I should say, servings are small, which is fine at happy hour when they're $4 but I might be cranky later. The beer seems a bit pricey - local beers that would be $5 a pint elsewhere are $6-7 here. Also, they pick one beer that's $4 for happy hour - when we were there it was Stella - the rest are their normal price, so I thought that was a bit frustrating. Server was really excellent, sweet girl running around trying to appease soccer fans watching an ugly game :(. I want to give 3.5 but I'll be conservative and go 3.

I have dropped in to Fado for happy hour after work a few times and I really like it. First, they complimented me on my beverage selection (Guinness and Hoegaarden, aka a "dirty hoe" or "black garden") and the small plates were pretty darn good. I like the size of the booths for sitting around and making small talk with friends. The service was great even during busy periods, and I liked how easy it was to find a table when we arrived after work. The place is pretty big with lots of booths and tables. I am a self-proclaimed legit Irish Pub snob (aka, I went to Scotland for a week and therefore think I know everything about pubs), and while Fado is a touristy/trendy/kitschy downtown locale, it does have some geniunely irish traits. The music is fitting, the service is friendly, and they do care about the authentic pub experience. Best beers on tap (in my opinion) include Boddingtons, Hoegaarden, Lagunitas, Newcastle Brown, and Smithwicks. Skip the bottled selections. It is awesome to see some whiskys available that are more unique than Bushmills and Macallan, and other mainstream choices.

We rolled into Seattle on St.Paddys day. We were on a road trip starting in Los Angeles stopping in famous cities like San Francisco and Portland. Once we left LA we were desperate for some good local food and someone that not only knew how to pour a Guinness but a bartender that would appreciate the goodness of a fabulous pint of the creature. We googled and found Fado. Reviews claimed they poured the best pint of Guinness but previous reviews left us weary. Little did we know when we stumbled into this little Irish bar on the corner that not only would they have a authentic tap but the bartender knee how to pour us a proper pint. We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Roberto. Let me tell you something my fellow Yelp users. If you want to feel like a local and to be treated like a regular, look not further. Roberto is an amazing representation of what every person wants in a bartender. As busy as it was we never had to ask for another. He was right there when we needed one. The next day we showed up not expecting him to remember considering the hundreds of people he served the day before. We stopped in for a pint and 4 hours later we are still here. We came for a great pint of Guinness but we have stayed for Roberto. He is a breathe of fresh air in an industry that's outside of New Orleans treats you like a customer in a stool. We have been to many of bars in this great country and someone lien Roberto is a rare find. I feel as if we now have friend in Seattle. If I owned a bar I would consider myself lucky to find an employee like him. He is an honest hardworking gentleman who makes customers feel like guests. This my friends is not an easy task and not one most people can navigate. If you ever find yourself in Seattle and want a good pint, fabulous food and a phenomenal bartender take yourself over to Fados. Roberto will not disappoint. People like Roberto are a rare find!!! Thank you Roberto for making our short time in Seattle memorable. You are fabulous!!! You are appreciated!!!

It's ok. Nothing special. Most of the wait staff is pretty good. Unfortunately, I went in there a couple times last year and when we checked into 4-Square, we earned a free beer. Went to the bar, and the lady behind the counter had the nerve to be angry at US for bringing the reward to her attention. Not my fault you offer deals on 4Square... my bad. And my bad we also had 4 more a piece... so yeah. If you don't want repeat business, don't offer it! Or just make sure your wait staff aren't pissy about it

I came here today with my dad and sister. They both live across the water so it is a treat when they come to Seattle. We were celebrating my dad's retirement and birthday. We had GAELIC AM as a server/bartender. I have never experienced such bad service before. From the start she was rude she acted like it was to much to serve us. Mind you it was about 11:10 am and there was no one in the bar. She was was impatient with my dad when he was ordering his food, and asked if they had cocktail sauce. She also did not bring us napkins or silverware and gave us attitude when we asked for them. She def fit the bill of passive aggressive Seattle lite. whpo gives this great city a bad name. She brought us our boxes and bill and did not say a word or ask how everything was. At the end when she was coming around with water, my dad kindly said "we are ok on water" . her response "cool". I'm not sure if she was having a bad day, or she is just a mean person. I get it , I used to serve sometimes work sucks, BUT its your job. I will not be going back and telling everyone I know not to frequent this place. I have also filed a complaint with consumer complaint . If you have Gaelic AM as your server know you will get bad service.

I'm sorry to report this place has gone down hill. I've come here for years. The menu used to include delicious, authentic fare that was carefully prepared. The menu has changed significantly, with far fewer options now. The food is mediocre. I ordered corned beef and cabbage tonight - the corned beef was just barely room temperature and the cabbage was undercooked. The ambience was horrid, thanks in large part to the lingering drunken Seahawks fans. There was a time when you could come here on a Sunday night with your family and hear some nice Irish folk music. Tonight it was a loud, cheesy cover band that has played one too many bar mitzvahs. Our dining experience wasn't enhanced by the two drunks who were pawing at each other and stumbled into our table. Not a nice experience for my 12-year-old and her friends. I had to chase the couple out of our vicinity myself because the snarky waiter (who made several mistakes with our order) was indifferent to the situation. I won't be back anytime soon.

I liked it! I especially liked going toward the back of the establishment, where they seemed to have two tree trunks coming out of the floors in into the ceilings! Great live music and the decor is fun. My friends and I had a good time here. We had been to another place right before coming, so we didn't order too many drinks or food, but from what I've read...maybe I'll come back for HH.

I tend to be pretty observant, so when a server came in with her father on her day off to watch the USA v. Mexico soccer game... I figured the place was pretty special. The lady tending the bar was particularly charming. Covered in tattoos with a musical Irish accent, she was so very friendly. The bar was clearly fully stocked and the food was superb. The highlight? Rhubarb Pie. Taste explosion.

Went out with a group of friends and decided to stop here. The interior is really nice, but they were playing hip hop top 40 music at ear-blasting volume. Seemed odd for an "Irish pub". The place seemed like a teeny bopper club (if one existed) inside of a very genteel looking restaurant/bar. The waitress was unfriendly, did not smile once, forgot my ice water, and it took a couple tries to explain to her how the bill was going to be split up. Definitely wouldn't ever come here.

Great food & the service is even better (Thank you Sinead)! Typically i have a Bleu Crunch Salad with chicken which is great, but there are other great plates to choose from. Some other good items from the menu that I have enjoyed are Lamb French Dip, Guinness BBQ Chicken Sandwich, Bacon Cheeseburger Mor, Chicken Boxty Quesadilla, Smoked Turkey RLT and Fado Gourmet Burger. There is also a curry soup, but unclear what day that is available. P.S. They always have a good Soccer Game on the tube/telly...

Happy Hour is decent, I'll give them that. But when the waitress starts flirting with my date, Happy Hour becomes Back Up Off Hour. Granted, the date never turned into anything substantial but still. The little slider thingies tasted like shredded reject meat soaked in BBQ sauce. The "crab" cakes consisted of three teeny tiny quarter-sized lumps of mayonnaise and bread crumbs. Did they run out of crab that night or something? Lots of beer on tap which I appreciate. Happy Hour on a Tuesday was completely dead which made the ambiance kind of calming and comfortable. I like the decor and the layout. Apparently Fado used to be a bank way back in the day. Awesome pub conversion. Perhaps I'll go back and order something different off the menu and perhaps my company (and luck) will change and I'll get a male server.

My wife has managed this building for over a year and I had never gone into this place.. One day I was hanging out and my wife suggested I go. Walked in and was greeted right away, sat down and ordered a beer. Looked at the menu and ordered the chicken quesadilla... Omg!!! So delicious!! By far the best chicken quesadilla I have ever had and just talking about it my mouth is watering. It's a great atmosphere and awesome food, plus almost every delicious brew you could think of! Gotta try it! I cannot wait to go back!

A couple acquaintances of mine managed to snag one of the back alcove areas for a large get-together. Service was surprisingly smooth for the first couple hours, considering that there were about 18 of us, the Sounders FC had played earlier in the evening, and it was a weekend. We all had separate tabs going, and it was no trouble at all to order food or drinks. One waiter cautioned me that the food menu became "appetizers only" after 10 p.m. -- I appreciated him pointing that out. As we grew drunker and the recorded music gave way to much louder LIVE music, however, service rapidly tapered off. After two drinks and an order of fries, I was getting tired of the noise and felt like leaving, but it took another maybe 45 minutes to flag down a server, close my tab, and beat feet. So, what did I have? My first drink was a cucumber press. I love the flavor of cucumbers, and this drink delivered, although it was a bit sweet for me. My second drink was a margarita on the rocks, served in a highball glass. The margarita, too, tasted fine. Neither drink seemed very strong on alcohol, and after the two drinks, I was feeling just slightly buzzed. Look elsewhere for stiff drinks. As for the food, my potato wedges were outstanding, suggesting that Fado does some things right.

This is our 2nd time at Fado. Tonight, we went with our best friends and were celebrating my wife's birthday. I think the food is really good and my drinking buds enjoyed their ciders. Tonight, we were treated to a fabulous waiter named Trey. He really made the experience a truly memorable one for all of us. His service was quick but not obtrusive and he had a friendly and outgoing personality that really helped the festive mood of our party. We really like the cheese dip and steak boxty, but wish there was a larger selection of ciders. We both love the rustic little rooms and their coziness.

I used to come to Fado's for a Bass beer and their delish Lamb Dip. I ended up here after a very wet Sounders game on a busy Saturday night. It was standing room only and definitely very crowded. We didn't get to order any food since we stood the entire time but still a great place night or day.

What can I say? If I'm in Seattle, I'm at Fado. First time I went there, folks made me feel like home. On the real. Hanging out, laughing, taking pictures, etc. Turned me into a fan instantly. So, last month when I was in town again, guess what? I visited... twice. ... on a 5 day trip. Ha! Good whiskey selection. Good pickle juice. Friendly staff. Clean place. Live music. Food smells good too but, after a couple whiskey shots followed by my beloved pickle juice, I forget to order any. This joint does not disappoint.

For some reason I hadn't been to Fado until last night .. I've always heard good things and finally made it over there to check it out for myself. I love the chunky furniture and the vibe of the whole place. It's especially good if you're a soccer fan because they air live games from all over the world. The food is also really tasty (I recommend the salmon bites!). The Guinness is especially tasty and the patrons are a lot of fun. People really get into watching the games and it's fun even if you aren't a huge soccer fan.

If you decide to open your business early for a special occasion, it might be a good idea to have sufficient staff. Being ignored by the staff for over half the match is intolerable. I should have left, but I was curious to see how I would have to wait to order my beer and food. Also, you might want to have your full brunch menu available. I may just stick to the George and Dragon for my English football.

Went here for dinner with my mom. We wanted something fresh and made with few additives - simple homemade food. This fit perfectly! Salad was amazing and fresh. We both had shepherds pie which was also delicious!

I was in before a Seahawks game and another time before a husky game. The first time I came in it was in well before kickoff and the place was full not standing room only but full my wife and I got a beer and where in the corner waiting for one of the tall tables at the bar that looked like the people where leaving to open up I spoke to the group and asked them if we could snag the table when they left. They were nice and said "no problem" this is how every bar I have ever been to works, seat yourself. My wife and I sit down one of the servers comes over and asked us to get up because the table had been reserved, she apologized and promised us the next table that opened up. There was no sign or anything to indicate that the table had been reserved. My wife and I went back to our little ledge in the corner and waited to be seated, meanwhile I see no less than 3 groups do the same thing I did, go in and seat themselves at tables as people left, nobody interrupted them or offered the table to us as promised. We waited in the corner until it was obvious that we were lied to and not appreciated as customers. The other time I visited, the service was painfully bad, servers would walk by look at an empty glass and keep walking then come back 10 minutes later. Our appetizers came 45 minutes after we ordered them.

This is a nice place to unwind and have a drink. We sat in the small area immediately to the left of the entrance and it was quiet and relaxed. I've been to the one in DC and had similarly positive experiences. They pour a good Guinness.

Being from out of town I sense that I may come back here for more. They have Guiness and live music, that's as much of Ireland you want in one sitting. Bar snacks...goood...beer....cold....staff...good and warm. Go there, it's the right thing to do.

Excellent food! We have eaten here on previous trips, and this time again we really enjoyed our dinner. I had the pear and bleu cheese salad with Guinness and Cheddar bread - YUM. Two in our party enjoyed the fish and chips - fresh, divine, perfect! One in our party enjoyed the mini burgers, and we all true enjoyed the Smoked Salmon bites on Boxty. Delicious! Server was pleasant and friendly, but the service was very slow. We had to nab another server a few times to ask for items. Will definitely return to Fado again next time!

I'll keep it short, for a bar the drinks where expensive and nothing special. For food I can't say anything, didn't eat. Although if you want Guinness your good to go!

Had our 35th reunion here. Food was substandard and they ran out 1/3 of the way through - had to cook more and we all had to wait. Alcohol was expensive. The rooms were chopped up and made it hard to mingle. Not a good place for a group.

Trivia night (Wednesdays at 6:30) pulls in a good crowd, and the prizes are among the best in the area. HH specials served till 7 are OK, but HH food and drink menu needs to be rotated every once in a while to give the regulars more reasons to come back. Scene is pretty much what you would expect in Seattle, ranging from beer drinkers, cider sippers, and occasionally someone who brings a laptop into the bar. Will return.

I have been here many times and always came for a beer and their absolutely yummy onion rings after work sometimes. But recently they changed their menu and they dropped these onion rings from their offerings. So, recently, I ordered thir fish and chips lunch. I was told that I would get two pieces of cod with my fries. When the order arrived there was only one piece. For $10.99, this is not good value, even though the fish was excellent, I really didn't think it was worth that price. And if management is reading this review please bring back the onion rings! They were fantastic. I'm very disappointed that they are no longer being offered and I have stopped dropping by because of that.

I have been to other Fado's before and this one is every bit as cozy and inviting as its brothers have been. I was here with a large group of people from four different meet-up groups for an ugly holiday sweater party. The waitresses/bartenders albeit busy, were always moving and doing it with a smile. I met a friend here, who came from her office holiday party that started early in the day, so she needed sustenance. I was curious about the food at this location as well so we ordered fish tacos, chicken tenders and potato wedges, and some queso that came with latke/pita-ish flat triangles perfect for dipping. Standard bar fare, but everything came out hot and fast. Drink specials were great - nothing like hot buttered rum for some of Seattle's coldest nights!

I don't think the servers are "rude and snobby," but they aren't friendly either. No biggie though; we got what we asked for fairly promptly. I'd describe the servers as "functional." I ordered a Bloody Mary and an Irish breakfast sandwich to start. The drink was tasty, and the sandwich was nothing special. It had plenty of insides--egg, sausage, etc--but needed a sauce or something to make it less dry, and to pull it together as more than just a pile of proteins between bread. They got extremely busy, as it was Hawks game day. Despite the unholy masses that filled this large and charismatic place, the waitresses kept the drinks coming. As that's mainly what folks are looking for in an Irish bar, it's tough to complain about a boring sandwich or less-than-chummy staff. I'd come back, and try something different.

Popped in here intending to have just one drink after the Seahawks ran over the Cardinals in Century Link field (11/23/14). To our surprise there was a three piece band playing awesome music. My wife was tired when we got there and really didn't want to stop, but after a few minutes she got her second wind and we danced to more songs than I can remember. We finally left a while later, but not until the band was finished for the night. Fado has a great atmosphere with friendly bartenders. The live music was awesome. It's been a while since we've been here, but we'll make it a point stop in again during our next visit to Seattle.

FADO'NT BOTHER.... Let me preface this review by saying I have been going to Fado for many years, all the way back to it's inception, and I've never had a bad thing to say about it before (aside from the slightly higher beer prices, which have gotten worse actually - but that's a side note). So I'm kind of sad to utter the following words.... Fado sucks balls. A late night trip down after work to meet up with friends and watch the (brilliant and talented) Kennedy Brothers last live music set started out just fine... smiles were easy and the drink did flow. The problem came at the end of the night when I went to pay my tab, and noticed that they had charged me for 4 ciders, instead of the 2 ciders I had ordered earlier. I politely told the girl behind the bar about the error (and I mean GIRL, she looked about 17 and had an accompanying case of serious resting bitch face which had not left her visage the entire night - but that's a side note). Convo went something like this: J: "I'm sorry, but I think you might have accidentally billed me for two extra ciders." 17: "No, you ordered those." J: "I'm sorry, but I distinctly remember only ordering two. I think this must have been a mistake." 17: "Sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it." J: "Really? Okay, could I speak with your manager please?" Man-ish: "What do you want me to do." J: "I'm sorry, but I think you might have accidentally billed me for two extra ciders. I only ordered two." Man-ish: "Maybe one of your drunk friends ordered two as well." J: "Really? That's probably not likely, they don't like cider." Man-ish: "I don't know what to tell you, I believe my bartender." J: "Honestly, I'm not debating my whole tab, I'm just asking for you to take off these two ciders which I did not order" Man-ish to 17: "Did he order four ciders?" J to Man-ish & 17: "Look mate, it's not for you two to discuss like I was not here, please take the ciders I did not order off my tab." 17: "Fine! Jesus Christ, I'll take the fucking ciders off." Thank you. A fucking herrang over $10 in cider? Shit management, and poor bartender strategy. Sorry to have "bothered" you both, but you won't have to worry, I won't ever be disgracing your hallowed beer hall again. A regular tip on the corrected amount would have been left, but that quickly turned into zero gratuity and an attempt by me to steal one of their beer taps. I was close, until some shit at the end of the bar ratted me out. So I called him out. He shrank like a circumcised shih tzu. But that's a side note.

I recently saw the movie Fast Five. It should come as no great surprise that a movie starring Vin Diesel and The Rock would have a predictable plot (almost free......except they need to do....."one last job"), but it reminded me of Ebert's Glossary of Movie Terms. You only need a minimal amount of information before you can guess the rest of the movie. For example, the Classic Car Rule: Whenever a beautiful classic car -- usually the prized possession of an unsympathetic father --- is introduced at the beginning of a film, that car will be wrecked by the end of it. I suspect that the same theory could be applied to bars. In the example of Fado, I could say that it follows the Moderately Upscale Irish Pub Rule. Would I need to say anything else? You could guess that it would be mildly overpriced. Or that it would be decorated with dark wood with some green trim. Or that the servers would be dressed in black and could serve as extras in a Riverdance line in a pinch. Or that soccer would be prominently shown on the telly. Or that a Guinness poster could be found on at least one of the walls. You could guess these things and be correct. But it's probably worth pointing out that the food, while mildly overpriced, is fairly good. For the Happy Hour (4-7 pm M-F), the pub sliders and onion rings are a nice surprise. It is also probably useful to point out that Fado does tend to get quite crowded around the end of normal work hours (5 pm). Have a buddy stake out a table before then.

The absent-minded Yelper strikes again! Not recalling my attendance to Fado, I thought I would give a try at the anniversary of Ian's introduction to Yelp last night. Of course, the moment I stepped foot on the stairs, I remembered the douche baggery of an Irish bar so close to Pioneer Square. I'm happy to report like all relationships, it's a combination of timing and qualities of the bar that make it or break it. Or perhaps in this case I was surrounded by very cool people aka Yelpers. Anyhow, the happy hour was excellent. The sliders were incredibly delicious. The salmon bites were to die for (even if it is only 3 for $5). My recommendations: get yourself a table (or room) and hole yourself in and drink away your problems until the cows come home.

A nice bar physically. But what a dump acoustically. And when I ordered from the menu one of the house specialty cocktails, the waiter said, "What?"

Music was loud and unappealing. Think boho chic and radio music without the chic. But the crowd was louder, and anything drowned out only gave way to a catatonic hum that left the place...wanting. The scene itself was absolutely fabulous. Half the place was sectioned off for a singles greet and meet. After walking through that half, my bf told me to do so, too. I did, and a girl literally turned up her nose and looked away. During my quick stop in the bathroom, I was greeted by a lady who started complaining about her hair color and blind date. omg. The other non-formally singles scene was just as single - except qualified mostly by men. The bartenders did not look happy either. I don't blame them!

Went here for a quick lunch. The corned beef sandwich hit the spot and I sub the fries for their slaw. Be sure to order extra horseradish mayo as they barely put any in your sandwich. OK food but higher priced than I would usually pay for lunch ($12 with tip here for just a lunch entree and water).

This was a fun place to stop in after the M's game we went to. Came with a few friends and hung out at the bar while the rest of the group found a place to sit. The Bartenders were pretty friendly, although it felt like we were a bit of an inconvienence when we ordered a shot, and then another...Either way, I wouldn't let that stop me from coming back again. Always a fun atmosphere right in Pioneer Square.

So we came stumbling over here after 4 hours of drinking at the Marriott Bistro and thought we'd get some food. The folks at the Bistro actually recommended it so we went. However, by the time we got here the kitchen was closed. So we did what any large group of undecisive people do and stayed to have more beers. There was a nice large table all the way in the back area that could accomodate our whole crowd so we decided to hang out for a few hours. Waitress was nice and chatty and we had a good time. I had a few snakebites and didn't have to explain what they were so that's a plus in my book. The interior of this place was nice and overall the pub had an inviting atmosphere. Would come back again sometime if I'm in Seattle.

Food is alright, service/staff is pretty good, the drinks are okay too. Overall a decent place, I went a lot for the world cup games since they were open at 4:30am to serve beer for the games! Awesome! Overall a good place!

Nothing special ordered. I just had fish and chips when visiting from out-of-town on a Thursday afternoon. The lunch crowd and already left. The people were hospitable and they were nice enough to put on a non-Seattle MLS game that was being broadcast at the time. Lots of TVs there. I can say this: if the fish got any fresher, I'd swear I'd just taken off the hook. I cannot eat fish and chips again in the Midwest without having second thoughts ever again. Damn you and thank you!!! All in all, good times.

A great place for Irish breakfast and a Guiness! I generally only frequent Fado's during the summer months because I like to sit on the patio and watch the Seattle freaks walk by - its entertaining, very entertaining. It doesnt get 5 stars because everytime I have been there, one of the managers comes outside for a smoke break - he tries to go around the corner, but really all it does is float right across the patio for all to breathe - not a good thing when you are trying to enjoy your food. But it doesnt keep me from coming back - I guess I will just have to deal with it.

WOW!!! The Reuben was the best Rueben I have ever had so far and the beer selection and quality taste of the drafts was perfect!!! I will definitely be coming back!!! Dear Fado, My favorite winter coat was left at your bar on my birthday (not my choice to go there for such an important occasion but our friends band happened to be playing). I called beginning the next morning and have not heard anything back. Yes, it's my fault for forgetting the coat, but at least you could call me back. I believe one of the staff (or a patron) is now the proud owner of my only nice winter jacket. 1 star (and it doesn't even belong to you) goes to the band. One star for the timeliness of service, even with the packed bar. Meh. The times I've had a bite to eat, the food has been overcooked and extremely greasy. And I always leave the place sticky...do you ever wipe the bar down? I've had poor service at other birthday parties I've attended there as well, and ended up grabbing my beverages at the bar instead of waiting 1/2 hour for the server.

Love this place! I have been here several times and will no doubt go many many more. Good food, great drink selection and a wonderful location for a gathering with friends before a game. I was a little saddened to find out it was part of a chain rather than a truly original location, but that really doesn't make this place any less enjoyable does it? As for a tip, go for the lamb dip sandwich! Good stuff

Great space, good food, and great service. I reserved a space here for a party, and it worked out quite well. They don't require a minimum food order to reserve a space, and it was really easy to work with the coordinator to order group appetizers ahead of time. They also gave us a server who was wonderful, and gave us separate checks for our drink orders.

Went here recently for the first time. It was right before a Sounder's game so it was packed. Four of us sat on a tiny table outside, but it was nice. We got to interact with all the Sounders fans walking by. We had some happy hour appetizers. The hummus flatbread was really good. The sliders were okay. There are two sliders and I ate both...filled me up. We got the pub style nachos as well. It was actually homemade chips with cheese crumbles. The cheese crumbles were sparse and it was mainly just chips, but good. I think the chips were homemade. It is a huge place and it looks like you can reserve certain areas of the restaurant for parties.

Fado is a really wonderful pub/restaurant. I had been here for a few Steelers games in the past, as it is a very Steelers friendly place. :-) However, my dinner experience last week was wonderful. I recommend the fish and chips for sure, as well as the lamb sandwich for lunch. Trey, our server, was entertaining and sweet and made our experience all the more fun -- he was helpful with the menu but not overly pushy, as some waiters tend to be. I felt like I should feel at a restaurant because I feel our server and our experience are exactly what a business should be proud of. The drink selection was wonderful -- Guinness was poured perfectly! 5 star!

Although Fado has a rep for being a contrived version of a "real" Irish bar, it really has got a lot going for it. As a connoisseur of Irish bars back in my misspent youth, I can tell you that authenticity doesn't always equal "good". Fado is carefully constructed to remind you of every St. Paddy's day you've ever had, and if we're being honest here it really is a kind of theme-park restaurant, but since it's so well executed it somehow manages to be more charming than the "real" thing...most of the time. There's lots of cozy nooks and softly lit corners to choose from, and a clean, well appointed bathroom, not something I usually find at "more authentic" dive bars. The few times I've been here the crowd seems uniformly decent, so aside from a few sports fans howling at the Seahawks game it's a laid-back atmosphere. Aside from the clever interior, the servers are friendly and efficient, and what little of the food I've tried from their extensive menu has been pretty good. I won't vouch for the cuisine since I've mostly come for drinks, but from what I've had so far I'll definitely give 'em another shot. Beer, wine and whiskey are pretty much what you'd expect to find in an Irish place, but if you've come to this neigborhood looking for cutting edge micro-brews you can always truck it down to The Elysian Brewing Co. a few blocks away. I like Fado, and If parking downtown wasn't such a challenge then I'd be over to this place more often than the one or two times a year I visit now.

  • Sila B.

Meh. I'm always a fan of a good Irish pub, however this one isn't really a "good" Irish pub. It's your typical Americanized version thereof--it is a chain, after all. Which is fine. I've been for happy hour a few times, and it's always packed, which can make things interesting. However, there is a lack of any decent happy hour drink prices; maybe a random mixed drink special here or there. They've got some great happy hour eats, but a bit on the small side for what the prices are. Top that all of with service leaving a lot to be desired, and you get a 3-star "meh." The one thing I will rave about is the boxty fries--delicious. The Irish really do know potatoes. Generally not a bad place to go. Good food. Usually on the crowded side. My mind has just never been blown.

Came here Sat 2/2/13 for a late lunch, starving. Corned Beef sandwich was delicious - lean tender meat on a nice bun with wedge cut chips (french fries to us Yanks). Everyone acted glad to see me, but they were absorbed in European soccer on TV, too. Late that night, came back for a Guinness - my only complaint was that it was pulled without the shamrock in the head. 2-man band rocked on, sounded great. Waitress advised me on restaurants for a big dinner when I was ready in a night or two. A very fun place - I would definitely go back again - warm and happy on cold Seattle winter night. The only way to make it more Irish would be to add a peat fire.

I've been to Fado several times over the last few years and have always thought it was a neat place. Last night, I met with four friends to catch the end of their happy hour (which runs from 4-7pm). We arrived at 6:30 and found a big table near the bar that was perfect for the five of us. Our server greeted us right away with a dry sense of humor, which I appreciated. He was quick with the drinks and good at helping us select food without being annoying or fake-friendly. For food, we shared the happy hour onion rings. There were only six-or-so rings, but they were huge and tasty with three different dipping sauces. I ordered the veggie burger which was good quality and filling. My friends ordered sliders, a cheese steak, a cheeseburger and boxty quesadilla (boxty is an Irish potato pancake... I had to look it up). Everyone liked their food. Also, one of my friends was delighted to find out that Fado makes a proper snakebite. She says that most Irish-themed pubs have the Harp and the Strongbow, but few have blackcurrant juice that apparently seals the deal. Anyway, I was pleased that we easily found space to sit with good food and great service on a Friday evening in downtown Seattle. I wasn't sure if that was possible, but it is!

Came to Fado during a visit to the area from Buffalo. We all really liked the food, the boxty & cheese app was our favorite. Everyone loved their meals, also - between the 3 of us we had the corned beef & cabbage, guinness sandwich, and a burger. Good drinks selection also, was really pleased to see the availability of at least 2 dry ciders.

I came here for a birthday party. My friends had reserved a private room which was really nice. It's a very lively and somewhat dark atmosphere. The food was good. We came on a night where they had a live band and we danced. If you're female, you'll probably get hit on. People that come here really know how to party.

I went in for a happy hour beer and some sort of Irish food. I left disgusted and still hungry. Service is super slow, but there was soccer on the TV. I really like to ambiance and the soccer, but I was really disappointed by how very long it took to wind up with a beer in my hand.

For an entire year, when we worked at the Norton Building across the street, we have never attempted to dine here and what a missed opportunity it was. Our group made it in after a project meeting for the four to seven happy hour which amazingly happens every day of the week. Ordered a pitcher of Pyramid Hefeweizen and a couple of fish tacos with a side order of calamari. What caught us by surprise was how subtlety delicious the fried calamari was, especially for an Irish pub, since a majority of happy hours place calamari on the menu simply because it is a relatively easy and effortless dish to cook. In addition to a light topping of cheese and banana peppers, the calamari was complemented by a light refreshing dipping sauce of what is believed to be a tomato puree of sorts. Although we did not personally order the fish tacos, the rest of our party swore that they were the best fish tacos they have had in the past two years so perhaps that is a testament to either the quality of the food or their level of inebriation. Next time we come back up to Seattle, we are definitely going to stop by again since we seem to travel in larger groups and the pub is organized to host larger soccer viewing events anyhow.

Watching World Cup with a room full of people during lunch can be so exciting. I was watching two games at the same time. The service was a bit slow but they do have a whole pub full of people. I ordered the Trinity Boxty. I had forgotten how much I like boxty until I saw it on the menu. =) There is also a World Cup special lunch menu (beer + sandwich for 12.95).

Yeah, I'd have to say Fado is a pretty cool place for a happy hour. It's located in a great area in Pioneer Square, perfect for getting your pre-funk on before a Mariners/Seahawks/Sounders game within walking distance. There seems to be a nice selection of Irish pubs in Seattle and I think you can throw Fado into the mix. The inside is a little dark, much like other pub-like restaurants. The service was actually very nice and attentive. We got a table almost immediately during a busy happy hour session. On a nice sunny day (you know, those rare occasions here in Seattle), you probably want to grab an outdoor table. I was able to sample different items from the happy hour menu, each costing around $3-$4 a plate. The fresh potato chips with bacon, blue cheese, and green onion was freaking awesome (I plan to try to duplicate that for a football day at home). The bbq chicken pizza was alright. I thought the crust was interesting.....kind of like naan bread. The onion rings with 3 sauces were great. They were nicely breaded and full of flavor. What really made the happy hour were the lamb sliders. Flavorful chunks of lamb with cheese on slider rolls. They came with a dipping sauce (au jus) which made me salivate just by smelling it. Fado is a fun/social place where you can bring your friends/family/date. I'll definitely be back!

Self proclaiming Irish themed pub falls right into my catagory of; the boyfriend jean. Its not trying to look as a standout spot, just keep itself tucked into the comfort zone of locals-tourists. Large space, good seating, attentive servers, and I was impressed by the food being what the place is trying to be. I had a tomato-basil-monzzerella salad with a fantastic tomato basil soup! This place is best served for your manly-esque guy friends who want it casual but not entirely loose. Cheers!

We love going to Fado on Wednesdays for pub trivia night. The guy that runs the trivia, Eric, is very friendly and awesome at reading! The environment is very inviting and comfortable. The rest of the staff is also friendly, especially Sinead. They all make it feel like a neighborhood pub. The food is your typical irish pub food. The corned beef and buttered cabbage is pretty stellar. Guinness is of course flowing strong with other favorites like Stella, Smithwick's, Harp, Hoegaarden, etc. We love this bar!

I have added a star to my review based upon the response form the staff here to my feedback. The breakfast was sub par but the service during my stay and after leaves me with the desire to figure out what does work well here and support it. My guess: After work Jameson shots. **** I joost retarned fram a week in Oierlund, and am looking far an oothentic Oirish Breakfast exparience in the stets. This was, emphatically, not an authentic experience, and the reasons for that were not for lack of ability. The puddings, while tasting about right, were tiny and dried out. The sausages were loose on the inside and over crisped on the outside, as opposed to being dense and hearty and lightly crisped skinned. I think the rashers were actually SALTED, and almost inedible. The eggs, tomato, and mushrooms were palatable. However, $14 was too much to pay for that breakfast. as this meal paled in comparison to even the low quality fast-food versions of the TIB I had in Ireland. The sarch contenoos.

I love the decor here, pretty darn cool. My other favorite part, Happy Hour Hoegaarden, $4 I think, or a $5 Jameson and ginger ale. Amazing. The food was fine, nothing to write home about, but good for pub grub. I once left a mug here, and the people were super cool, looked around and found it for me, and had it waiting with my name on it days later. Nice move, plus one star! Thanks for listening!

I think it's the best place to play trivia on Wednesday night. The servers are very friendly. My only complaint is I wish they had more items on the menu. It's a great place to watch soccer also.

We come here at least once a week for happy hour and has been good to us. The staff is attentive to our drinking needs. The food is good...I've ordered from the happy hour menu and fish 'n' chips from the regular menu.

Nice atmosphere, the musician when I was there (a Wednesday) was awesome, the 5 jagerbombs for $59 + tip was less awesome.

We were visiting from California and had time to kill before heading to the airport. It was about 3:00 pm and we had been turned away from several places. When we got to Fado's (remembering the location we had been to in Denver) we went in to be greeted by a very friendly server ( a girl with a nice tattoo across her clavicle). We checked out the menu and had questions on food and beer. She helped us with both bring us samples of beer. We ordered a boxty (I so recommend this one) and burger, a roast beef sando and 2 orders of the lamb from the happy hour menu. The food was good the server was great. If I had based this on other yelpers I would not have set foot inside based on recent reviews, but with that being said I was pleasantly surprised. We'll stop in on our next trip north too!

Short terse review: Corporate theme bar..disguised to be "trendy hip " solo spot. I saw your wig and fake mustache after I spent 2 hours with you, and then was banged by the bill. Wealthy frat boy paradise..fits Seattle like a hand to glove Nice pics though, taken by your Ad agency ? How much do you guys pay to get on the top of any search I make? Chinese food---- bingo: Fado Irish Pub --- 1st in list This is our forum..why should this crap continue? W/O honest local reviews, Yelp is...will become...the P fric'n I or the Stranger ( not so bad but off topic). Yelp is a force due to us...patrons! They have nothing with out real reviews..the business model does not work. ...free content is sweet.. please stop the seeding by "paid" contributors. BUSTED

I love this place for many reasons...here is a list of them! 1. I love the staff! From the actual few Irish people they have to Carter..the best server ever. Someone mentioned the day waiter who talks you into having a drink. That's Carter. and I will love him until my dying day...smooches doll! 2. They pour some of the best Guinness and Boddingtons around! 3. Their food is good and the happy hour great! 4. It is across the street from my office 5. They have free Wi-Fi...I can technically call in to work..uhh yes I will be working from Fado today! 6. They always remember you, or that could just be me because I am there too much..whoops! 7. The atmosphere is easy going You people are all bitching about an Irish bar in a box...The people, the atmosphere and the beer take it out of the box and make you feel at home. Besides, why are we so caught up on an authentic Irish bar? Go to Ireland for authentic...go to Fado for good beer in Seattle! Make sure you tell them some crazy girl with rotating hair color sent you and that I love them all! Especially Carter...and the hot chick that also works at Purr...Oh now I will have to review them too! :)

I woke up the next morning with a headache and memories of dollar shots handed out by a midget wearing a top hat spanking people in the ass with a horse whip while jumping up and down in women's underwear and green tights.... ...gotta' love it!

Hey this place is great! We hopped in to get out of the moisture and get some lunch one rather dreary afternoon and I'm glad we did! I just love the interior and the atmosphere. It doesn't look too big from the outside, but feels spacious inside. There are plenty of TVs if you're into sports, and the music selection was perfect. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and we didn't wait long for anything. The food was delicious, and the beer.. Yum! I'm really looking forward to going back and trying some more dishes.

Went last Tuesday. Had a few pints of Guinness and the hummus appetizer plate. They must put drugs in the hummus because I ended up ordering another. So delicious. And they serve it with boxty wedges that are crisped to perfection on the outside and a little soft on the inside. Service was great and our server was friendly without being over the top.

So, this bar is basically the same as the one in Philadelphia. Which I suppose is a good thing for Fado ownership, since that means they've succeeded in fulfilling the whole chain idea. And for me, as well, since I do enjoy a generic Irish pub now and again. I wasn't thrilled about the cover charge, but I the live Irish music made up for it. Drinking songs are always a good time. The back room was great for our large party, but the waitress was a bit overwhelmed. It was more efficient to order at the bar.

We've been to Fado a number of times. The pros: They are in a convenient locations, close to Pioneer Square. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. (We took refuge there recently on a cool and very rainy Sunday afternoon and it was heavenly.) Food has never disappointed. The cons: I don't like that they don't have a printed wine list. The waitstaff will rattle off that they have a merlot, a cab, etc., but I like to know what I am getting and how much I am paying for it before I order it. Also, during a recent visit, the waiter somehow messed up my food order, which he fully admitted. So, while they re-made my order, he brought my husband's food and told me I could "munch on his french fries" while I waited. There was no offer to otherwise compensate us for the error/wait and that would have been nice.

Im torn on this place... the waitresses are always cute, spunky and fun to talk to. And who can hate a Saturday morning beer and a football game in a really nice setting?? However there's the entrees... with the exception of the pot pie which is fantastic (but I was told they are discontinuing!) the dishes fall short. Granted I come here on Sat and Sun mornings when Im feeling pretty rough, but I havent been impressed lately. My advice: go here for the game and some beer, but stick with small plates (all of the appetizers have been great). You'll be doing yourself a favor. Try a side of the blood pudding, it's crazy good. DO get down there for a pot pie before they're gone though! Dont bother for late-night, they think too highly of themselves with $20 covers for only halfway decent bands... Much better night spots lie just blocks away.

Great whiskey BBQ chicken wings with blue cheese dressing; a little more pricey but that's what you get for touristy destinations. Overall fun atmosphere and I have to say it's someplace I try to go whenever I visit Seattle. It can get crowded so make sure on nights with live music you get your table and keep it!

Went there for happy hour with some friends before attending the art walk in Pioneer Square. I remember the prices being decent and the fries are weirdly addictive. I would like to go again!

It's a neutral chain bar/restaurant with an Irish theme whose servers won't offend you with an accent, and whose menu will allow everyone in your party to find something to eat. The milquetoast of Irish Seattle bars.

  • Brooke M.

I don't care that this bar looks like a Saint Patricks Day party threw up; its close to my office, and the lunchtime server is really good at convincing us to have a drink at lunch. How can you resist someone who practically begs you to order a beer from him? Other than that, the food is decent bar and grill fare, and they meet my downtown lunch requirements - my lunch, beer, tax and tip were all under $20 and they always manage to serve me and get me out of there within an hours time. Plus I'll always love them for serving $1 Irish Coffees the night of the major 2005 Seattle Snow Storm (okay, it probably wasn't a significant storm event to anyone except for me, but the buses couldn't get me up Yesler, so it took 5 strong irish coffees for me to work up the courage to walk home in the snow).

First off, I'm not a huge fan of theme park Irish pubs. Having spent a semester in Ireland in grad school and having traveled quite extensively throughout the country, I can only recall three pubs (John Fox's in Temple Bar, Gus O'Connor's in Doolin, and the King's Head in Galway) that even come close to the cavernous monstrosity of the Fado chain pubs. Aside from the kitschy atmosphere; however, there are certain things I can appreciate about Fado: - They consistently serve a good pint of Guinness; - They have a decent happy hour menu; - The food is very good - particularly when compared to typical pub fare; and - They show live rugby (that alone garners two stars). In all, Fado isn't a bad place to have a pint and watch Six Nations rugby (or the upcoming RWC).

    (4)
  • Michelle B.

Fado has good Guinness and Boddingtons for $5 an imperial pint. Fado has cheap and tasty happy hour food. Fado has lots of tables. Fado has loud music. Fado has wait staff. Did you feel this review was good, but uninspired? That's how I feel about Fado.

    (3)
  • Colin W.

This Irish pub is more Irish-themed than truly Irish, but the food is good (if a bit untraditional), the beers are cold, and the dark wood furniture is homey and comfortable. The patrons of the bar are younger and louder than most places, so I don't recommend going to Fado for a quiet drink. Trivia night is fun but can be distracting if you're not interested in playing.

This place is ok. I've been here for a couple of parties recently and I thought the atmosphere was great. Beyond that though, the service kinda sucks and the prices are too high. Why does the service suck? Well, I'm glad you asked! Let me tell you. The last time I was there was during happy hour, and the party had people circulating in and out. Instead of leaving a happy hour menu or two for people to peruse while they were getting their drink on, the waiter took it away, leaving us with the standard menu of higher priced items. Dude, don't play me like that. I am not an idiot. Damn it, Fado. I started this review off wanting to give you 3 stars, and my memories of that waiter are making me give you 2. Maybe we can hang out again sometime, but next time you gotta promise to be cool.

  • Ian M.

$5 is too much for a pint of anything. Well, any beer, anyway. If you're able to shave 40% of the price of a beer off during happy hour, this ought to be a clue that you're charging too much for beer. But here I am buying it, which proves that I'm a sucker but not that the beer is properly priced. The good news is that you save a couple bucks during happy hour. The happy hour menu is priced right, but vegetarian/pescetarian unfriendly unless you're in the mood for onion rings. Don't get me wrong: I Love onion rings. Notice the capital "L," there. But I'm not always in the mood for them, so if you entice me with the promise of a happy hour menu that offers a screamin' deal, expect me to be hopeful for another option or two. I ended up ordering from the full price menu during happy hour. Might as well drop an ex lax in my beer and kick me in the shin while you're at it. I realize that "Irish food" is not synonymous with "vegetarian epicurean delight," so I can't fault the bar too much, but still, it makes you feel like you're missing out on all the fun and the thrill of saving those few bucks. (Yes, we--as a human race--are indeed this easily entertained, in case you haven't noticed.) The regularly-priced food (i.e., that which is never eligible for happy hour) is actually pretty good, although at prices slightly higher than they ought to be, though this is the norm here, so I don't even know why I'm mentioning it. The "cigar room" is an oddly-named spot that might more appropriately be titled the "mausoleum in homage to smoking paraphernalia, it being an activity in which distant biological relatives once partook." This said, it makes a good spot for Yelp happy hour. I like Fado enough to go without hesitation when a group has suggested it, and it's a nice enough place considering its national chain origins, but I doubt that it'll frequently be a destination that I decree myself, as it walks the middle of the road between trendy bar and Irish pub, and gets "squish like grape" in so doing.

So Fado might not remember this, but we go waaaaaay back. Rewind back to 2004, and I was a fresh-faced girl working her first gig out of college and was eager to try out the bar scene in downtown Seattle. I could always count on Fado to be a convenient spot to assemble a crowd of coworkers for happy hour, and if the excursion also happened to fall on a Wednesday night, we could parlay the experience into an evening of Trivia. Fast forward to the present, I no longer live in Seattle, but I come up north on occasion for work. On my most recent visit to Seatown, some coworkers and I decided to play Trivia at Fado and to our disappointment, the crowd was sorely lacking. What was also lacking was the food. We didn't tell our waitress (even though I wanted to!) that there was a dead fly in my friend's burger and the "light" grilled cheese sandwiches I ordered more resembled cheese toast from Sizzler than the American classic. Whatev. Fado, I hate to do this to you, given our history (or 'semi-sordid past' as some may say), but you're really only deserving of 3-stars based on my recent visit. Perhaps you can convince me otherwise on my next visit up north to the PNDub.

I'll keep it short and sweet; if you're looking for the quintessential post-work Irish bar, with cheap drinks, average food, rowdy, yet laid-back atmosphere and AWESOME service, head to Fado. You won't be disappointed. P.S. I came here w/ a group of 25 or so and we were able to snag a reservation in the dining area. The service was fabulous; we were an extra annoying group with separate check requests (per person, mind you), babies and someone even broke a wine glass....that someone may have been me......). The wait staff was probably extremely relieved to see us go that night, but you would have never guessed it. Cheers Fado!

It was very fun. We hang with another customer, an Irish-American person, I think. The way he was drinking, he was not drinking a lot, made the server have a second thought about serving him another one. He knew how to behave when it came to that. I really hope to meet the fun person again. I was too drunk to have my basic human communication skills when his friendly asking for my future contact info occurred. The female server was very nice, I remember, she was fun. I don't know if other nights can be that much fun, but i will go back next Sat.!

I dropped in for last nights Yelp meetup, so I have a burning moral obligation to review the venue now. If you're a somewhat bold and in-your-face type like me, it's no problem to get service. If not, you may be ignored until you start throwing things. The $3 happy hour drafts and appetizers were nice, but when I ordered a Serious Beverage, the bar staff failed me utterly. The wait staffer used to be a bartender, she confessed to me. She knew how to make an Old Fashioned. She even asked me what kind of booze I preferred. What the barstaff concocted, however, was some kind of an unhealthy cosmopolitan in a martini glass gone horribly wrong. Complete bar failure. I stuck to the impossible to screw up drinks going forward. Highballs (two ingredient drinks, folks) and whiskey. Two ninjas agree: Eight bit eyebrows, but good water service with the bartender.

I have been going to Fado for years. I really love this bar. It's a pretty good layout, lots of places to sit and they even have two bars, which is nice. They also have live bands on the weekends. This place gets super packed on St. Patrick's Day, but it's well worth the wait once you get it. Great selection of beer on tap and the bartenders are really cool. A must visit!

A great spot for Happy Hour and was located directly across from my work. My coworkers and I used to frequent this place on a weekly basis, From publisher events to happy hour with the search crew...we would eat, drink and eat some more. The prices are generally reasonable and their bars are fully stocked with irish beers and hard A. Never a dull moment when irish car bombs are involved.

  • Misty S.

I'm not sooo into Irish food, so Fado is normally just okay to me. I've even had their boxties, and regardless of their level of authenticity or obscure food (re: Irish food), it just bores me. The place feels a bit too corporate to feel homey or comfortable. But today I had their Irish breakfast, and it was really delicious, with four types of meat, soda bread, and eggs of course. Usually, the lack of a potato option would bother me, but I didn't mind, because the two sausage links are the best breakfast sausage I've probably ever had. So three stars overall, but the breakfast merits at least four stars.

  • Becky B.

People who think this place is the shit and super Irish need to get out of Fado's and look around. It's alright, it's just not, well, anything. I almost have nothing to say about it, except that the happy hour food is alright (although last time I ordered, my food was given to a different table) especially their vegetables tempura or whatever it is. There is one waiter that's cool, a bald dude. He was super nice. I just don't have anything else to say. If there's no seating (Which is very common, especially with HH), go ALL the way to the back. There's a room that no one really ventures into.

I'm in town visiting for a few days and went here to meet some friends for lunch yesterday. Having never been here I didn't really know what to expect but I knew it was a chain so maybe that kept me away in the past. The food here was decent, I had a chicken pot pie which came with a little side salad and was way too much food for lunch in terms of fat content but hey, this is a pub, what do you expect. My Gripe? The waiter was a complete dick. It was noon on a Friday and I didn't feel like drinking so just stuck with water and the waiter kept nagging me and trying to get me to order a beer and was generally rude (he had nicknames for everyone, I for example was "red sweater" and one of the girls I was with was "doll"). All because I don't order a beer doesn't mean I don't enjoy a beer from time to time and it certainly doesn't mean I need a lecture about how I'm young blah blah blah and I should drink while I can. This isn't a fraternity last time I checked and treating customers with a snotty attitude isn't a way to get people to come back, I know I won't.

Just went here the other night for happy hour before the Mariners game. It was a Friday after work and pretty packed and out poor waitress was really stressed. That being said, she did a great job and was really attentive. I hade the mini-burgers which were just ok - kinda tasted like a McDonalds cheeseburger. My boyfriend had the smoked salmon bites which he LOVED and we also shared buffalo wings which I also didn't think were great. What was great was the $3 Newcastles!

I have had a really good Shepard's pie here once for lunch. The food is really good and the old style Irish place is fun just in itself. Pretty big inside and you can go there for just drinks if you want. Staff was fun and friendly what more could you want from a place.

We stumbled into this pub after checking out few others places that was dead! The ambiance here was very "VINTAGE" looking with a very diverse crowd(private party in backroom) and the front room was pretty full. We came in for few drinks and couple of their happy hour item and I must say it was nothing too spectacular. We ordered a typical beef slider type mini burger, chicken quesadilla, and corned beef roll. The garlic and onion fries that came with the sliders were quite nice, chicken quesadilla tasted like it had same wrapper as the beef roll except fried on the outside and the corned beef roll I actually like just because I don't have it very often.

I like the Fad... Fuck PC though they call an Irish Car Bomb an "Irish Settler" here. I suggested an "Irish Curdler." I guess I'm biased since my handsome brother tends bar there, but the place is a great spot for a pint o guinness, or harp, or bass, or stella, or smithick's. It's always a great spot to check in on some weekend Pioneer Square drunken sluttery, fellas. But please keep the games of "quarters" in the U district. Othrewise the bouncers will kick your fraternity balls up to the roof of your fraternity mouth, and throw you and your (closet homo) brothers down 6 steps to 1st ave. If you're there for pre Seahawks game drinks, don't expect a seat unless you get there early. The chow is chronic, and they offer great deals on food at happy hour 4-7 seven days, late night 10p-1a mon thru thurs. I highly recommend the corned beef sammy, corned beef and cabbage, corned beef rollups, or the burger sliders served with Guiness mayo. If you feel saucy, head there on St. Pat's day for 25 bucks cover...

My friend ordered the ceasar salad with the fried chicken strips. That's when the fun started. After noticing a weird aftertaste in her chicken, my friend notified the waitress, and asked for grilled chicken instead. My friend was told in so many words: uh... Too bad, we can either re-fry more of the same smelly chicken, or charge you for the extra breast! Wow!! So the waitress goes to the back and talks with the "new kitchen manager", comes back and tells us the batter had too much garlic. The new chicken arrives with different batter and the same smell ;-( at this point my friend threw in the towel, said her prayers and dove into my sandwich instead. It feels good to sacrifice for your friends once in a while. I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the sour chicken will keep me at bay.

I mainly go for the soccer. I've got mixed emotions on the menu, most everything is good, but nothing is great. Most of the staff is very friendly, however not the most attentive. The volume for the soccer isn't always on, and the seating can be awkward at times, not necessarily the amount of seating, just it's position towards the TV's, but the games are always on none the less.

I'd give Fado 5 entire stars, but the Guiness is a tad pricey, and the shots a tad scanty, for my admittedly tightwad tastes. However, if you're *not* a drunk with an appallingly efficient liver - or if you've got more than two nickles to rub together - this place is great. It's huge - something you wouldn't normally associate with friendly and personal, and yet Fado manages to be both efficient at serving enormous tables of hooting, drunken youngsters and after-work parties of amateurs, AND taking solicitous care of their group of regulars. The decor is gorgeous - you can tell it cost a mint to put together. Fado is part of a small chain, and I am anxious to try out their branches in other cities. The Guiness is perfect here. PERFECT. (That's per Russell. I won't touch the stuff.) The drinks are always good - and the summertime specials with fresh squeezed juice are just lovely. Their bar food rocks, and their happy hours deals are really, really good. Everything is impeccably fresh and well-prepared, and it's all real food, not greasy, deep-fried "pub grub." I'm vegan, but there's nearly always something on the happy hour menu that I can eat. Finally, hats off to the staff. What a great group of nice, friendly, cool people! They make you feel right at home, and they're all seriously top-notch bartenders. Which is a hard job to do.

I've been here a few times now and have really enjoyed it immensely each time. The fish and chips is quite good, so as an Irish pub it does well on that. The interior is pretty Irish feeling, and their having football (soccer) on TV really helps complete the environment overall. The only complaint that I have is the wine list is abysmal. Before anyone tries to point out that it is an Irish pub and hence I should be getting a beer, I'd like to preemptively note that I am told Irish pubs in Ireland have quite a bit of wine ;) Otherwise, I love the maze-feel to the place, the dark woods, the stone, the centrally located bar and the great service. Thanks!

It's solid. I like this place for 4 vital reasons: 1) It's big, so you almost always can find a table for your group. 2) They have good bands that are never so loud you can't hear yourself think. 3) They have seriously good bar food. Inevitably when you're there, someone will HAVE to order some type of food. Desserts, snacks, actual meals -- it's all good. 4) They have cider and I like cider :-)

Typical Irish Pub; live music, long wooden tables, and the stank of crowds. But on a non-peak evening this is a great spot for a large gathering of friends. As long as you don't mind the stank of your friends.

I know Fado is an Irish pub but they have some of the best Grape Nehi's I've ever tasted here, so try one if you're not a beer drinker. I've been here many a time for lunch and have always received consistently friendly and quick service. The wait staff is always quick to fill your water and to check on you but not too much. They have a great spicy chicken burger and be sure to ask for the chipotle ranch/sour cream dipping sauce, it's to die for!

Blech. Yuppy people trying to be trendy with the Irish pub scene. Ok food for lots of $$. Really bad live band playing. If you want an Irish pub, go to Kells or Owl n' Thistle right around the corner.

upgrading my review due to the rapid response to my experience. the owner, manager and bartender all apologized and offered to 're-earn' my business.

I don't care for the Pio Square scene at all, but I stopped in last week for a drink and met a really friendly bartender there named Erik (c?). I only had one beer, but if I'd stuck around longer, I bet he'd never leave me with an empty glass.

went back late at night and had an awesome experience. the place was pretty empty but the bar staff was excellent and the place is on of the better irish pubs ive visited in this city. the bartender was attentive, but not overwhelming. there was great music playing and the place is not too loud it was perfect.

I went here last night and got charged $10 for an Irish Car Bomb, or as they called it an "Irish Settler" not excited about that. All my friends had to pay $6 for pints of beer as well. Seems like they might be better at HH but as for now, I am not convinced and my pocketbook is hating them.

MAYBE ITS JUST ME But I cannot tell the difference between Irish Pubs. They all seem the same to me. Same type of people, same type of food (american) being served. Came here once with co-workers and they just love Fado and rant about how great it is. But I felt different, to me, I just considered this place "a bar after work" kind of bar. But the things I did like, good service, good fried chicken wings, and good Irish Car Bombs.

Irish? More like Americanrish. Fado does have great food and a nice selection of beers, but it's not really a true Irish Pub. For one, they don't even carry soda bread. Oh come on! I've only been there on 'quiet' days when there aren't any games on, so I can't speak for those times, but normally it's not too bad. Like I said, the food, especially the HH items like the Happy Burger, hit the spot for a decent price. However, the service on quiet days can be slow, which doesn't bode well for busy days. The decor is a nice earthy gloom, which makes it cool to sit with a group and have a discussion or something (probably about something gloomy). I'd go to Fado just because it's close to work, and it has food, but it would be at the bottom of my list for a true Irish place. Cheers!

St. Patrick's was insane here. I waited a good half hour to get in, and really didn't like paying $15, but it's a ploy to come back because they give you a $10 coupon to use at a later time. I could appreciate the long wait in hindsight because they carefully controlled the crowd size so that you could move somewhat comfortably. Nothing kills a mood faster than being totally crushed because the owner wanted to 'make a buck.' The Guinness was really good, people were totally decked out in green, and plenty of barely dressed ladies shaking their moneymakers. I'd come back for the party next year.

I just went to Fado last night for with some friends and had a great time. No cover, and we still got to hear the Kennedy Bros play an awesome set! The setup of the bar was nice - sprawling but broken up into smaller sections that allow for a more intimate feel, but spacious enough for most groups to find a spot. We enjoyed the selection of beer and the seasonal specialty drinks, and a good time was had by all!

Price is ridiculous ($7 for a Guinness, $7.50 for a shot, $10 for some mixed drinks). Had good live music, no cover and large selection of drinks. Really wanted to like this place, but the prices are worse than a strip club. Stop in for a drink, but not a good place to stay all night. Waitress was nice, always checked on us. Service was good.

I went here a couple days ago for the world cup game (USA!!!!).. The service was good, the place is awesome.. there is a lot to look at, i love how many rooms there are to explore in.. the place is huge!! However.. I ordered a veggie Quesadilla and it was god awful, i couldn't finish it.. The cheese was so .. weird tasting.. and i didn't realize i didn't like artichoke till i had this, though i feel that if you like artichoke there is a good chance you will like this because it's literally filled with almost exclusively that.. yay me.. Because of the other things that i did like about this place i am willing to give it another try (the restaurant but not the quesadilla)

Great Fun - We did trivia and had a blast. We were there in time for happy hour and we're VERY HAPPY!! We had Guinness, Stella Artrois and Rum & Coke. We also had starters which were super yummy. Johnny was our bartender that night and he was super great. We also met a nice girl who dates the bar manager. We had good conversation with her and she bought us a drink - THANK YOU!!! We would go back again and we highly recommend it to anyone.

OK....I'm half Irish or something like that. This place isn't like Ireland. BUT, I really like this joint. It is as close to a Boston Irish pub as your gonna find in Seattle. The food is good and plentiful. Try their happy hour, grub. Great price, Great choices. Hey it's a change to the same old thing here in Seattle. The bar tenders are busy, but still pour a quick pint. They are pleasant every time you come in. Its not like they are going to bother to get to know you....but you Will get a big smile. It's kinda a corporate....chain like feel here. I think its because it draws a lots of tourists, Midwesterner's, etc. The bands are normally terrible. But besides that all. A great place to get a pint, chill and have some good conversations. The bar is totally set up to enjoy time with your friends around a booth. The beer is reasonably priced and the mixed drinks are good. Oh and a side note, not a bad idea to stay away from this place on a Saturday, Its a different feel. First of all, a five dollar cover on a Saturday night for the ABSOLUTELY worst band I have ever heard. They should have paid me five dollars to listen to that crap. And the bouncer at the door was arrogant. We are from Southern California, and that's why we left, bad attitudes. I never understood why a business would want some jackass to be the first thing that greets a new customer. OK big guy practice this line" greeting folks, good to have your here, can i see your id's thanks, it will be a five dollar cover, enjoy your the show, glad to have you." YAH RIGHT, NOBODY ever listens.

Well since my last trip in I have been back twice, the service was impeccable! Always had my drinks and food prompt and fast. Wait staff was great friendly and were always smiling! I've always been a fan of the other Irish place around the corner, but my date & I skipped that place to just come here! Thanks Fado! You've just gotten a true patron 4 Life! Now if we can just get those big tv's turned on... hint hint.. the only reason wasn't 5 stars.. music was good, but you got those huge tv's turn them on to some sporting event! Futbol preseason is starting back up!

We hit 5 bars in one night this weekend and of them all this was my favorite. The service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. The only complaint I have is that I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and the waitress came out and said they were out of the cheesesteak meat, so would chicken be ok? Umm... no. A chicken sandwich isn't even close to a cheesesteak sandwich. The food prices are kind of high for a bar and for the portions you get, but the food is good. One word of warning, check the game schedules if you're going to go. Our first attempt at going it was full of neon green soccer fans wearing scarves (in August???) and there was nowhere to sit so we had to move on. Later in the evening though (when it was still not even cool enough for a jacket, let alone a scarf,) things had cleared out and it was much more pleasant in not only Fado but the whole area in general.

First time in Seattle and I have a favorite Irish Pub already. Guinness is used in all of their BBQ sauces and if its not in a sauce, its in a glass in front of you. The menu sets you straight regarding "the myths" that surround the Guinness... I dig Fado's and I would come back to this city, just to go there :)

The food is weak, the beer is good, and there is a decent soccer crowd on game days. The servers are inked up, which is not my thing.

I was absolutely and completely impressed with Fado last night! Ian M set reserved a room for us, and it was great. Our service was FAST, our waiter was always checking to see if we needed anything. My quesadilla was tasty, even for an Irish pub. In the end, when I paid my tab... the server was nice enough to give me a bus pass since I did mention I needed to catch the bus. Guess what? More tip for him. Thanks Fado!

I don't generally head over to Fado. However, we pre-funked here before a Seahawks game, and the bloody mary bar in the morning was pretty good. Had happy hour here with friends, and the server made his rounds, food was pretty good as well. Trivia got piped into all the rooms, so no getting away from it. I've manned up and paid the cover to come in at night when the bands play, and they are pretty loud. I don't know why, but for some reason this place just doesn't stick in my mind as a destination, even though it's a pretty cool environment with lots of different areas to hang out. My experiences here are 4 star for sure, though.

This review is a little annoying for me to write because I don't often like chains and this place is so heavily reviewed. However I have to give it some public praise because it is just a solid offering in a great location. The service has always been helpful and the food is very good as well. My visits have ranged from being extremely loud and many many beers at night hanging out with my Angel City Brigade friends who are Galaxy supporters from LA, to morning visits with kids before the St. Patty parade. The servers have always been fast and friendly and the ambiance is great as well. I like the layout of the place. Sure some of the bartenders play the "I'm really cool because I'm a bartender" role but who cares, let em have their fun. It opens early for soccer, rugby, etc and has a good morning menu as well. The only knock is that the draft beer menu is on the bland side (call the Stone reps guys) but the Guinness pour is good.

Recently went to Seattle for vacation with my wife. As soon as we got into town we asked the lady at the front desk where we could get a nice sandwich and a cold beer. She recommended the Fado Irish Pub. It ended up being a very nice choice. Going inside you notice all the wood furnishings that look like they just came out of a old catholic church. Nothing blasphemous so don't worry. The place actually looks and feels like a pub. Even the bartendars and servers wear all black clothing. What really stood out at this place was the service. Everyone was warm and friendly. Even the bartendar came by and chatted with us to see how we were doing. As for drinks we have few pints of local ale that was fantastic. For an appetizer we had fried green beans with fried banana peppers served with a sesame soy sauce. Real good. I ordered a corn beef sandwich for myself and my wife ordered a salad. My sandwich was awesome and my wife's salad was big. She really enjoyed it. Wash it down with good beer. It's all good. All in all this is a great place for lunch. The service is great. Food is great. Definitley a place I would come to again when I am in the Seattle area.

Mushrooms in wine sauce, mushrooms in wine sauce, mushrooms in wine sauce. I don't mind that the girls who work here always seem to wish I was a dude- once that pile of steaming mushrooms in wine sauce is in front of me that is! Of course I accompany this with a glass of red wine... Trivia night here is fun too- rowdy but not obnoxious. All in all a decent place to wait for the boat.

I've been here time and time again for one item: The lamb sandwich. Seriously, screw everything else. The lamb is where its at. Just think about it, where have you had good lamb in Seattle? That's right, there are no other places that make lamb sandwiches like they make them here. Come here and get that lamb sandwich and dip it in that delicious, rich and thick au jus made from the drippings. Its to die for, and even better after a few drinks. Fado's is a great place to go with a group at night, just remember to go for the obvious beverages(Stouts and Guinness) and you'll be a-ok. Not the place for pinky drinks. The ambiance here is great at night, moody lighting and unique furniture distinguish it from other places. Highly recommended for that one killer item.

Fado is nice in a nouveau-yuppy pseudo Irish bar sort of way. They have good food and beer, and the staff is usually pretty nice. Well, about half the time. I've been here several times, and it's about 50% of the time that I leave happy, and 50% of the time that I leave so mad that I vow never to return. There are a lot of 50% Fado examples for me, so I'm officially coining my 50% Fado Rule. Fado tries to be a traditional Irish bar, and do have some good traditional menu items. Happy Hour isn't great though--usually only one beer is on special (the last time we went, it was Stella. How wrong is it that the special beer in an Irish "pub" is Stella??). The appetizers on happy hour special aren't anything special--fried green beans are at least interesting, but i feel like you could get their other selections (like hummus) anywhere. The meals are good and served quickly. I've had the Irish Breakfast, Fish & Chips, Bacon Cheeseburger, all were delicious. The real draw for me is that Fado has Strongbow on tap. Mmm, Strongbow. Oh, and Newcastle on tap for my favorite beer, if I'm in the mood for beer. And, they do know how to pull a good pint of Guinness. The reason I've given them 3 stars only is because many nights I've tried to stop in, and they had every area reserved for private parties. Come on, reserving EVERY room for private parties except the small bar area on a FRIDAY night is just insane. Especially when an area is reserved for a party at 7pm, and it's already 8, and there's nobody in the private party who has shown up yet. I'm not in the restaurant or bar business, but it seems to me in those cases, a present and paying customer is better than a party that may or may not ever show up. Again with my 50% Fado rule--half the time we've tried to go, we're unable to because there's no space with all of the private reservations. If I could give Fado 2.5 stars, I would. Half the goodness gets half the stars in my mind. But I'll keep going there when the craving for a cider gets me, so perhaps 3 stars are best.

When I moved to the Northwest, I just had to visit Seattle...there's a mystique to the city that holds a great appeal to me that unfortunately transcends my ability to give it voice; more's the benefit to you, since you don't want to hea rme waxing romantic on my ideals. While I love Portland and am extremely glad I live here, there are places in Seattle that seem just as much like home to me. Fado is one of them. While it may not be the most authentic of pubs, being a chain, it is still young enough to warrant recognition. After all, Fado has taken up residence in some very slick digs, with large industrial windows surrounded by rich masonry and thick oak fixtures and floors - this place really captures the "foreigner's" perception of the city and concentrates it into a very enjoyable and relaxing environment. Oh, I know, architecture is one thing; but then, how are the drinks and the food? I have yet to be disappointed, and have not had a bad drink yet. In fact, the Guinness is always ice cold and a little bit foamy (just how I like it!) and decently priced for Seattle. Well drinks are always strong and I never found myself feeling cheated. The food is also really great - I fell in love with their chips and rose sauce (please don't tell me what is in the sauce...for the love of God, I want to keep eating it...) and cannot get enough - in fact, invitations to our upcoming wedding should be arriving at an email inbox near you! It is no exaggeration to say that they are some of the best chips I have had in any state, bar none. Everything else is definitely above-average quality bar food, which should make some feel a bit better if they're looking for a place to down some booze-absorbing snacks! It's definitely not perfect - the service, while quick and efficient, always seemed a bit brusque to me. I felt tolerated, to be sure, but there was definitely the air of "go if you like...more will come to replace you..." Not cool. Fado is still a great place to hang out with friends; it's a simple choice when no one can agree on where to go, and will surely inspire more than a few good times!

Fado is great. Good food. Good Service. I love this place. Some things might be an acquired taste for some people because it is real Irish food - but I have enjoyed everything that I have had. They are even very accommodating to the Seattle Steelers Football Meetup Group.

If you want fresh black beer for breakfast while you watch your favorite EPL team and munch on an authentic breakfast sandwich, then FADO is the place for you. The people who work there are wonderful for 7:00 am, and the number of TV's they have mean that you can most likely see your game. Brilliant!

A great place for happy hour... I love the sliders! The thing that makes this place is the customer service... they go out of there way to talk to the customers and get to know you... =O) and free wifi! =O)

Reasons - why I give Fado 4 stars. Number 1 - I am English and I need English bacon (the cut is an English cut) Number 2 - I watch English Football ( soccer to the rest of you ) and they show this live which makes a massive difference. Note they also show rugby as well as American footie etc Number 3 - The Guinness is good considering you aren't in Dublin Number 4 - The breakfast sandwich is awesome..... and addictive Number 5 - The people who go there to watch football are a great bunch of people. Now I am a realist and the downers are : sometimes the service is a bit hit or miss the rest of the food is mmmm... average The breakfast tea is awful (they recently changed brands) and the coffee is well go to starbucks however the black stuff is GOOD. I recommend the bangers and mash but the gravy can be too thick for some people's comfort. Accept I am hugely biased about the place because I love Liverpool FC, a English Premiership team and I get a decent cut of BACON.

To start off, I am currently on an antibiotic that makes me violently ill if I drink alcohol. So in another 10 or so days, I will be back to try the bar out. We were walking along 1st ave, just basically wandering around when we happened upon Fado's. It looked like a nice enough place so we popped in. One of the first things I saw was the canvas boat on the ceiling and I said let's try this place. It was nice enough place with friendly staff, basically you seat yourself. The food was good, I had the all day Irish Breakfast. The bangers were soft and juicy. The eggs were cooked over easy. But the ham, wow the ham was really good. I think that was the best part of the meal. Two slices of ham, juicy and flavorful. Too many times, I have had ham that is just loaded with salt, but not here. Can't wait to try them again, maybe try something on the dinner menu and then follow it up with some whiskey and beer.

Stumbled across this jewel of a pub while coming back from Pioneer Square. Friendly people working there, a welcoming mix of patrons and of course, they pour a good pint with a generous shot of irish whiskey. Wish I could be there to see a soccer match when the place must really get going. Highly recommended.

Fado is the default place for happy hour when my coworkers and i can't make up our minds on where to go. It is one of those places that are just easy and close and doesn't require much planning to go to if you're with a relatively large group of people. There is a very decent selection of beers, mostly from the commonwealth, but a few NW beers too. The food is very standard greasy bar food, albeit UK themed. Decent if you're starving or need to eat something before your third beer on an empty stomach. All in all, a decent place that I'll always come back to because of convenience. Take the #15, 18 or LINK Light Rail - Pioneer Square Station to get here.

Drink and food is good. Good for gathering friends to watch game. However the waitress need to work harder on their tips. A lot of local, but not me. I'm a little disappointed about their service. I was there before the happy hour and sit thru the whole period. However, they charged me full price for those drinks that I order before the HH.... Customer awareness is the key...

Fun fun fun. Not quite as good as Kells, but this place is great craic. Large, spacious areas, great atmosphere, great people. I went the day before the Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy game and witnessed a few fun mini wars between the fans. I knew I was in trouble when the Real Salt Lake fans started singing: (Tune: Battle Hymn of the Republic) Who the f*** is David Beckham? Who the f*** is David Beckham? Who the f*** is David Beckham? I don't KNOW and I don't CARE! Of course this really pissed off the LA Galaxy fans who fired back with their own counter chants. It got pretty loud and heated at one point and I almost thought a fight was going to break out. I thought I had transported back to Europe as I have never been anywhere else in the states that got so into Soccer as as a whole. And this was the day before the game! The place was very diverse. I met a Scotsman who flew in for the game and everyone was friendly. Drinks are moderately priced, there are huge screens making it an ease to watch any big sports event. I definitely will be back to Fado's whenever I am in Seattle!

I've been to Fado a number of times and had you asked me to rate it prior to last Friday night, I would've given them two stars. Not that three is that much more impressive, but for me it's the difference between "Yeah, okay, I'll meet up with you there" and "Hell to the NO, pick somewhere else to hang out." Thankfully, if you're one of my besties you get a little bit of leeway on my diva antics. So when Mr. Dave M. suggested our group meet up at Fado before the Mariners game he had scored us tickets to, I agreed, though I was prepared not to enjoy myself. Well, the company was delightful and so was our server Denise. Spunky, wee and a girl after my own heart, she made sure to check on us before happy hour ended and made sure that we all had the cheaper beer we could handle before we made our trek to Safeco. She happily took pictures of our goofy asses and we even convinced her to join in for some of them. She had great recommendations off of the menu and no one was disappointed with her suggestions. Lordy, their fries are GOOD, people. Damn. Even though she was almost too cool to work at Fado, the bottom line is that she was attentive, helpful, prompt and more fun than anyone who I've dealt with here before. Denise, you rock and single-handedly saved my opinion of Fado. YOU get 5 stars.

Not bad for a chain bar. I admit it I love Fado's it's one of my go to places when I'm looking to enjoy a Stella with friends. At night it can get PACKED and that's when I leave, but after work or before a game Fado's is a great place to get your drink on. The food's not too bad either especially if you like potatoes.

Fado is kind of a rip off. $5.50 for a guinness! I am not really a fan of this place, kinda cookie cutter irish pub chain thing. I went for drinks and some apps. and the total was over $30! for a fw beers and some crapy apps!!

I've eaten here twice and had drinks here a few times. It's always a good time. Great beer selection and pretty good food. So you know you're having a good time when you, a stable, sane, small framed woman of 23 almost start a fight with a large nasty man 3 times your size. Oh yes, true story. This man was sitting with his back to our table and decided that about every minute he would turn around and make some comment about our conversation (and this was a strictly A and B conversation thank you very much). When my attempts at shutting him up only made him talk more, I started calling him every name under the sun and immediately make fun of his CAT hat. Oh yes, he was a heavy machinery man. This most annoying man ever thought my friend was my husband, and decided that he would comment to him about how his wife was such a firecracker (and how did he keep me under control, etc etc), which heated this firecracker up even more! If my "husband" hadn't suggested I leave, I just might have slapped the guy. And this was a work function... Oh Fado, your plentiful supply of rough old men for me to fight with only makes me love you more.

Y'know, brussel sprouts, lima beans, and peas -- those vilified vegetables of your childhood -- don't seem to find their way into many restaurant's repertoires. But like a good boy, I ate all of the peas scattered around my bangers & mash, even if there was no way I was going to clear my plate of the *five* large sausages I was served. From the bangers & mash to the sandwiches to the guy at the next table over talking up his meatloaf, everyone seemed to enjoy their meal here. The price and the service, on the other hand, were a little less enjoyable. The food wasn't too pricey considering the portions, but I think $5.25 for a pint might be the most I've actually paid for a pint outside of a venue, or London. And though the restaurant was ridiculously enormous, they seemed understaffed even for the light load that I wouldn't even have called a conservative patronage estimate. Half of our medium-large party ended up ordering our drinks from the bar.

I loved fado already, but what sets them apart from virtually EVERY other Irish pub in Seattle is the service. Elizabeth was one of the most incredible servers I've had in Seattle. She not only waited on a group of over 50 quickly and accurately, but she was such a sweetheart in doing so. She remembered everyone's drink and made mela lifetime customer of me at Fado. When you come in, be sure to ask for her! You won't be disappointed

My second visit to a Fado but both seemed to have an exclusive character and not an "plastic paddy" feel you may expect from a chain of Irish pubs. Was in Seattle for the niners-seahawk game (niners win! niners win!) and went to Fado for a pre-game irish breakfast, irish coffee, maybe a cider or 2. They vibe was great due to it's proximity to the stadium, most people in the bar were going to the game and were happy to let a niners fan what they thought (all in good fun). Plenty of HD TV's, friendly bar staff and open super early for EPL soccer, I don't want for more!

this place was tasty. my partner and i came here because we were starving, and our hotel (marriot) gave us a free drink or appetizer coupon. i got a jameson and ginger, he got some random beer, and we had the cheese sauce app. i ordered the tomato mozz sandwich, and it was okay, but lacking some flavor. he got a burger and it was sizeable and tasty. the service was friendly and prompt. when we checked in on facebook several people responded that they love it here. so if more than 5 californians have been there i imagine it's quite popular.

LOVE Fado... Even though I recently discovered that it is part of a chain. But, I guess that means they're doing something right :). I know nothing of the nightlife of this bar, so refer to other reviews if you're looking for something about how awesome Irish Car Bombs are at 1am.... I come here for the beer and the Chicken Pot Pie after work. The drafts are fantastic, the atmosphere is great, some of the waitresses have accents (yep, they're real!), the seating and rooms are unique, and most of all, the food rocks my world. This place makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Really, try the pot pie. It's a little different, not the dough-encased frozen food aisle kind of pot pie, but a gravy-veggie-chicken filled dish topped by a flaky puff pastry, with salad on the side. and a side note, they'll even pack it up for you to-go style for lunch or dinner, with all the pieces separate so nothing gets soggy. WHAT!? No..I'm not addicted enough to have EVER done that before...... (....'scuse me while i place my take-out order....)

Not a bad place....good drinks. Their Pyramid beers are good...but if you want a dark Irish bar and freakin sweet live Jazz on Tuesday night....go to Owl'n Thistle a block or 2 away. I'll def come back to Fado and they may have Live Music for all I know, but I went to Owl N'Thistle right after Fado and was def diggin that more on a Tuesday night.

"Smoked Turkey RLT: Sliced turkey breast with rashers (Irish bacon), lettuce, tomato and onion on a fresh baguette with mayo." Snatched from the Fado website. The above sandwich is pretty damn delicious and a great take on the BLT. Service can be spotty sometimes, that old "Did our server teleport to another dimension or something, haven't seen her in a while?" thing seems to happen sometimes. They do have a good beer selection, including Guiness and they serve Irish Car Bombs. *Drool* Went there with some co-workers a while ago and rugby was on. They happened to be rugby fanatics and I learned that one of the key positions in a rugby match is the "Hooker." Each team has a hooker. I wished I knew what the hell was happening in the match, but it was enough finding out about the hookers. You learn something new every day. Thank you, dirty hookers!

It's an Irish themed chain pub, what do you expect? Not much, really, but these guys and gals went above and beyond to take care of the hundred or so Chelsea supporters who converged on their bar last weekend (7/17-18/09)! Thanks Fado for putting up with all of us!! The staff I encountered were really nice and the beer special was good too! Never a wait for the bathroom and the location is fantastic! Well done, folks!

Fado's was suggested to me by the ladies at my hotel... I was looking for a place to go as a gal by myself and not be unsafe or uncomfortable. I'm so glad they steered me here! They have a decent selection of beer, and on the night I was there (a Wednesday), they had excellent live acoustic music. I had the mozzarella and tomato sandwich, which was lovely, and got a free pint because they have a deal with my hotel! I felt very comfortable here, and enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. I also loved that it had dark wood everywhere, and was dimly lit, with the focus on the bar and the music. My kind of bar! :)

Fine enough for a mid-week lunch, except when Euro soccer is playing. Sheesh! People need to bathe! Excellent fried chicken salad, corned beef sammy, Irish brekkie, and Smithwick's and Black Velvets to assuage even the pompish of people. Yes, even the smelly ones. Service is up and down, but the bad ones don't linger long at your table (they like to flirt with the bartenders), so there's that!

The menu is not vegetarian-friendly but hey its Irish food right? They have a good Happy Hour until 7:00pm and the food is really good. They also have a fun trivia night on Wednesdays but good luck getting a table because the regular teams reserve all of them ahead of time. What to order (Happy Hour): Irish Smoked Salmon Bites and Corned Beef Rolls

Stopped by Fado on a non-sports night to give another chance (what can I say? I caved to peer pressure.) The service is just plain bad. This is an overpriced chain bar and I can't for the life of me understand the appeal.

I only saw this place from the cigar room during the anniversary event..er..yelpiversary. I had one beer, a hogarden? hoegarden? look, it had the word "ho" in it, that's gotta be worth something. It was good. Not in the mood for a dark beer or any hard liquor at the time, it did the trick. Was like $7 though...for this area of town, I would think 'ho's' were a bit cheaper. I am a total whore for wood, ahahahah..*cough* I mean I really enjoyed woodwork in the decor. I liked the owl n' thistle better, but saw more of that than I did of Fado, so i won't write Fado off on that point until I have been able to spend more time there and see the rest of the place.

This is a lunchtime review ***** 5 Star for the Football. Thanks for giving us somewhere to sneak out of work and watch football, and especially the Euro's at lunchtime. ***** 5 Star for the Boxties and the Chips and Gravy. ***** 5 Star for the staff, working hard, serving fast and still smiling during a busy lunchtime. *** For the prices.

When I want potato product + alcohol, I come here. Their shepard's pie is really good, very much comfort food material. Gets very crowded during trivia which makes it even funner.

It was pouring. My co-worker just came back from the Library Bistro and was complaining that the servers there had colds. Well! I was going to go there but decided to pass. That's how I ended up at Fado. I wasn't even sure if they'd be open for lunch but when I rolled in, there were at least 7-8 parties there. I've been here for HH- the food was lukewarm. I've been here for lunch- the boxty chicken quesadilla was greasy, hot, yet tasty. I wouldn't beat a path to Fado by any stretch, but I might make it back for another HH. I'd still throw my $ at the Library Bistro or McC & S for lunch.

I have been to pubs in England, and New Zealand. This pub reminds me of those places. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is good. One time when I was here I ended up sitting near a group of soccer fans watching the game. I had flashbacks to a pub in London I was at a few years ago. The prices can be a little high on some foods. That is the only drawback.

I only hesitate to give 5 stars because I don't drink anymore. BUT I do still shovel (and I mean shovel) piles of cheese covered potato yummy things into my snacky mouth at Fado. I LOVE Fado and I want you to love Fado. If there were an extra 8 hours in every day I would work at Fado so I could watch you all LOVE Fado! (okay it would really be so I could be paid to watch soccer) speaking of they have Setanta TV - which is the Best SPORTS channel in the world. See I don't need to drink - I still eat too much & watch sports like mad!

Irish Disneyland. Too Kitchy. Too expensive. And too much for the kids. This place is by no means an "authentic" Irish pub, just like the restaurant in Pirates of the Caribbean is by no means an authentic french joint. That being said, both can be, well, what;s one level below fun? The full Irish Breakfast is good (props to any place that has blood sausage) and they do play soccer games live lots of the time. And honestly, when I've been there during the day, this place doesn't suck. But something happens to it at night. The music goes up, the random Steve Miller Band covering band starts playing, the "bouncers" outside get rude and then it's like a frat exploded. The last few times I've been there, there was no room to sit at the bar so I had to sick at a table. Which I guess means you have to (HAVE to) get served by a server. No big deal yeah? But when they wait forever to come check on you so you walk the 5 feet yourself to the bar to get a drink and then get berated for doing so from the same server who wouldn't come check on you? An Irish girl just wants her Jamo you know? Save yourself the heartache and mosey down the hill to the Owl.

First off I am Irish and for me being a Dubliner if you go to a bar in Dublin this is pretty much what you should expect. Great servers, Modern britpop Music, lots of TV's showing footie and rugby and the odd bit of GAA. But the real attraction is the Guinness probably the best in town and the food which is consistently the best pub food in town. I think this place does the best job capturing what an Irish bar looks and feels like. A real Irish bar is only going to be found on the west coast of Ireland at this point. Oh and one other thing the price of Guinness in ireland is about $8 a pint right now. So Fado looks cheap in comparison.

This is a great Irish bar centrally located in downtown seattle which makes it easy for everyone to find, but of course parking can be a nightmare. I do love the inside and find this is a great place to meet up with friends. It is of course super crowded on St Patricks Day and can look like a hurricane came through if you arrive late. I do enjoy the tiny outdoor area and the few tables on a sunny afternoon. My favorite thing of this bar is the make your own bloody mary bar, they give you a glass with vodka and you go to a table and set it up with all the fixings for about 8.50$. I cheat and go back to add more olives and things after I have drank some of the drink down. For some reason making my own drinks brings me great joy and I do seem to feel pretty happy after 1 or 2. Unfortunately the times for this varies, it seems to be on Sundays, but lately seems to be only Sundays when there are sports games going on at the nearby stadiums. Do check it out.

A good place to go out for a drink with a few friends - it's big enough to find a spot most times (although packed at HHR and on prime weekend times), there's an ample drink selection, and sometimes there is good celtic music to be heard. Just don't try to go on St. Paddy's unless you're super early or prefer to stand outside in the line-up.

  • Allen W.

I much prefer this place over Kell's. Plenty of space, I've only stayed on the bar side and the private room, and have never really seen it packed, then again I've never been on the weekend. The music is also not intrusive, you can hear it, but you can also hear conversation without having to yell.

The drinks are good, and the food was passable, the few times i went there, the experience was just average. Hence the average ratings. But it's always full, which means they're probably doing something right that I'm just not getting. Oh, but the sex on the beach was very very good. I like!

A cover for Fado? Really? I mean there was a band, so I can justify it...but the stage/dancefloor was tucked away in the back. Maybe it wasn't my cup of tea...but I think this place is average.

Fado is a largish Irish bar downtown that has a nice atmosphere and is on the upscale side. It's always been pretty crowded with the after work downtown crowd the many times that I've been there. The food there is very good. There is a quiz night and live music from time to time. The beer selection is good and there is plenty of parking in the deck just down the street. I believe they show some European soccer games on television during the season. All in all a rally nice place.

i had to write a review about fado... it seems like i'm like the only one who hasn't!! first time i ever stepped foot in this lovely establishment i came for a drink with my girl (aka the roommate) and my boy... big pimpin!! it's loud and always full of people everytime i come, but the happy hour prices are soooo worth it!! you can't beat the awesome sliders have. make sure to look for jordan towards the back part of the bar and he'll entertain you the whole night!!

There is an "Irish Pub Kit" that potential pub-owners can buy that will basically allow you to turn pretty much any random bar into an "Irish pub." I think the folks at Fado got the kit. You know what I'm talking about, right? But that's cool, I just want you to know what you're getting into. I won't judge a place for lack of "authenticity" when it comes to Irish pubs. I actually like it when my drinking establishments don't smell of fish and piss and aren't filled with middle-aged alcoholics, most of whom I'm related to. If I want an authentic Irish pub I'll go to Ireland. If I want to be abused by the most grumpy waitstaff ever, I'll go to Fado. We went here with a group around 5pm on a Friday night. One of the waitstaff helpfully pointed out a few places where we could NOT sit. I've never been to a bar where it's been a problem to pull a fifth stool up to a four-sided table. Isn't this just what you do in bars? When did this not become ok? So we're four people at a table and Bob arrives and we're just supposed to be like, "F*ck you, Bob, we're at a four-person table. Why don't you go home, Bob?" So that was weird, but we decided to be nice and accommodate bar and the odd rules about how many people can sit at a table and moved to a different section of the bar with a bigger table (in case something totally crazy happened, like more people showed up. Which they did.) We'd had some intermediate time at the standing-bar area, and, having been there for like 10 minutes and still no drink in my hand I was about to go batshit insane. So a couple of us ended up getting drinks from the bartender. Wild and crazy kids that we are, I know. Then the bigger table opens up and we sit down. And the waitress wanders by and saw those drinks in our hands, and holy sh*t this chick was pissed. It's like no one had ever had the audacity to get a drink from the bar before. She openly ignored our table for the rest of the night. We'd be right next to her, saying, "Excuse me?" and she'd just walk away. It was so bad that the rest of the party had to GO BACK to the bar to order drinks. It's too bad she had that attitude because we were on the company's tab and would have made up her tip to account for the fact that we arrived at the table with the drinks. Apart from the crazy waitress this place seemed pretty cool. I just can't give it more than 2 stars because of all The Crazy.

I've passed by Fado's countless times but I finally went tonight for my birthday. We were there for happy hour but skipped the happy hour menu and went for the Sampler Platter. Three full sized appetizers, Boxty w/Cheese dip, Chicken Fingers and Chicken Boxty Quesadilla. The platter was more than enough for the two of us. An order of Harvest Bread Pudding was better than any birthday cake! After seeing the other dishes that landed on nearby tables, we'll be back to try out more of the menu. I've been making Boxty potato pancakes all my life and these are some of the best outside my own kitchen! We hung around for some of the trivia game and that was really fun as well.

I enjoy it here once in a while- nice to go with a group. Been there when it's empty, been there when you've had it elbow to ass. Both a thrill...But I can't believe that place can get packed- it's pretty big. Although booths take up half the space. Most come to stand/walk around and mingle. I like the smaller version of pubs, especially when it comes to Irish, but this place is cool, despite being downtown.

  • Katie K.

This place can be a lot of fun especially in a group. I loved the live music too. It gets pretty packed on Friday and Saturday nights but it's worth it. The only thing that sucked was the cover is ridiculous. I think I remember it being like $10. The band was good but it wasn't $10 good. The food was decent Irish food. I loved the decor too. I'll continue to go to Fado. Oh and it can be a bit of a meat market.

If it weren't for my love of Bulmer's cider and the fact that Fado carries the aforementioned beverage, I probably wouldn't venture in. The potato nachos were ok, but not great. I've been to Fados in other cities, and they're all the same. Just another chain pub.

Its a nice place to come for lunch. The food is fine but a little over priced. The beer and spirits are also over priced, but well made. I'd stay far away at night. Its full of frat boys and sorority girls grab assing and drinking. They have a house band that plays Monday nights. When I went, it wasn't busy but the band wasn't very good either. However, I almost got beat up by a homeless guy in the restroom so there is that...

We come here often because you get a comfortable place with fair prices, good food and very friendly waiters. Try any of the Boxties. So good! The fish is also very good! It always keeps us coming back.

First found this place back when it was called Tir Na Nog, and have dug it ever since. Tasty food, friendly staff, great atmosphere and fiddly music. What more could ya ask fer? Bloody Mary bar on Sunday is a must-do during football season, laddie!

The staff at Fado are nice...in the year or so I went their regularly I got to know many of them and considered them good people and friends. Other than that is there is nothing very special about Fado. You can get their beers pretty much anywhere and they are much cheaper elsewhere. The food is pretty good but also overpriced for a pub. I used to go weekly for the pub trivia which was fun until their answers where incorrect and so crowded and busy to care. They turned their back on a regular and I turned my back to them.

I really enjoyed this place. I hung at the bar and hat a couple shots of jameson backed by a couple delightful stouts. I got the fish and chips and they were BY FAR the best I've had since I moved to Seattle.

for an occasional beer . . .maybe. but not for brunch again. it was way overpriced. the eggs were so runny they were inedible . . . like snotty whites. gross. and one tiny measly little triangle of bread to dip in the inedible eggs? seriously, it was the size of a frito.

Fado's serves up the best Irish food Iyou'll ever eat, hands down. (Uless you make it to Ireland, but you know what I mean) Anyhoo, they have Guiness on tap here and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Location is great, real close to the heart of the Seattle nightlife and the prices are average for a downtown eatery. I highly recommend any breakfast here as it is wonderful. Be prepared to have a great time exploring Irish cuisine and spirits.

Remember "Almost Live"? Kim Thayil and "The Lame List"? You know, "What's weak this week?" Fado needs a permanent entry. For those who are unaware, Fado is a chain "Irish" pub on the scale of Applebee's or T.G.I.Friday's, but with better location and better beer. When I was in the Navy stationed across the sound there were two places recommended to me: Fado and McCormick & Schmicks. Were these two establishments chosen for their upscale atmosphere, their excellent yet reasonably priced menus, and their gorgeous and single clientele? Hell no! They were chosen for their proximity to the ferry terminal and the desperate fear of the big scary city that my shipmates had (though I shouldn't rag on Micky-Schmicks. They aren't half bad). Full of Microsfotees and Navy guys who wouldn't dare go Capitol Hill, Belltown, or Fremont where there are drug-pushers, queers, liberals, and other scary people, but still need the street-cred when asked what they did over the weekend: "oh we went downtown to the bars and got wasted!" Possibly the worst booking agent in the city of Seattle as far as bands go; service is poor, though the place is always so crowded that it is understandable. If you are downtown and want to go to a real Irish bar, head to Fado, go one block east, and head to the Owl & Thistle, where drug-pushers, queers, liberals, and other scary people may also be hanging out, but you will actually have fun.

All kinds of fun! WIth live bands (duos, etc) that play authentic music, it's a blast for after work, happy hour or to stay and drink all night! Fast, friendly service too. Not overly roomy when busy, but generally a place to sit. Shots are a little expensive, but the atmosphere is worth it. Dance a jig while you're there!

The staff here are great folks, smart-arsed and funny as heck. They baulk at ordering water, have pints and hard liquor. They have some good bands and some decent food. If you are a lover of bangers and mash or a good pan fry - this is the place! You can also catch all the rugby matches here for more than a few "pounds". An Irish pub and gathering place is definitely what this place is.

Stopped by at 7:45 on Sunday night of the holiday weekend. They seated us in the closed section as we had our nine year old with us. At first we thought they had forgotten about us, but once the waitress feed herself up, she took great care of us. Totally comfortable with our kid and eager to answer questions. Loved my corned beef and cabbage boxty. Never had a boxty before, and they're yummy. Husband liked his burger - but what can you do to a burger? While not kids menu to speak of, there are lots of items that will satisfy. Since I hate kids menus anyway (who needs another chicken nugget and macaroni and cheese?), I was happy to help her select from some possible choices. (Never mind the fact that she selected the chicken finger appetizer...) Shared a dessert of bread pudding with brown bread ice cream. YUM! You wouldn't know this was a chain - just doesn't have that feeling. Wooden menus are pretty cool too.

hmm...decent drinks , a nice bar menu ( but I miss the bread pudding with hard sauce from the Tir Na Nog days.) Why only three stars? Faux irish decor in a town where there are real irish bars, with real irish drunks should be a crime. And, a highland piper outside for St. Patricks day? Are you high? The Highlands are in Scotland.

A newer addition (not too new) to the Irish scene in Seattle. Not quite to Pioneer Square (just a little north) this place will pack in the crowds. Live entertainment in back (yes there's a cover charge) but usually worth it just to be in the crowd. Not too bad to get a drink and if you don't want to be in the mosh mix you can find a quieter spot near the front of the pub. Can't say I've ever had a bad time at this one either. Check it out!

fado is a cute lil' irish bar with tasty (i.e heavy) irish food. it's fun for a change of pace and this on of the few pioneer sqaure, haunts that i feel is somewhat tolerable on the weekends. these guys also do a nice happy hour.

Good bloody - I like it their way with the spash of Guinness, quite tasty! Usually I'm here for lunch because I work in the area and I only ever order either the fish and chips or the lamp dip, both of which are delicious and hit the spot every time. Tip: you can order thinner fries if you're not a fan of the big wedges (like me). Game days are usually pretty busy, get here early if you want a seat on the weekend.

Good solid Irish pub. Well stocked list of taps, friendly service and typical but tasty pub fare. Went here before a Sounders match and found a table outside which was nice in the 90+ degree weather. 1st avenue is a little noisy so be ready for that but not unexpected when sitting on the sidewalk. Decor is eclectic with a number of little nooks featuring random sized tables. One of the big deal-makers for me was the ability to bring my 12 year old son. So many places around Pioneer Square are packed with fans and checking id's at the door so it is difficult to find a place to have some pre-match fare with an underage person. They allow minors until 9pm. The fish and chips were good and the beer was cold. I'll definitely be back.

Overall a good experience. Came here on Thursday night and it aw super, attentive service from male bartender, had a good pint of Guinness, food was delicious ... Fish n chips, Colcannon was amazing! Friday night the live music was really enjoyable, 1 man on guitar singing away, fair play to him he was giving it his all and was entertaining. Only draw back was trying to get a drink at the bar, gals were working hard just were understaffed and not able to keep up, my pint was empty 10 plus minutes and we were sitting at the bar, some people went to the waitress to get attention. Lovely bar, good music but put on an extra bartender on a busy night and I'd give it 5 stars.

I'm all about surprises, and spinning the wheel for a prize. When I'm offered a chance to order their "mystery" beer, I'm up for the game. But things turned sour for me when the beer in the brown paper bag turned out to be.......MILLER....yes. At an Irish bar?! Minus 1 star right there!!!! Happy Hour eats: pork belly taco. Very few bits of pork belly but delicious until you encounter bitter shredded red cabbage. The fish and chips saved the day. Battered fish was fresh and not greasy. Loved the steak fries too. Ask for malt vinegar if you want a change from the ketchup and tartar sauce. Service: good. Restrooms: only if you have to!!!

We stopped into Fado for a nightcap before heading back to our hotel. We took a seat at the bar. The bartender who greeted us was very welcoming, while ordering she mentioned that they had a orange ginger beer to mix with my bulliet bourbon. That combination a total win and she was great. My guy ordered a guiness as he usually does in a Irish Pub and ordered a shot of Irish Whiskey as well. We both enjoyed our cocktails, but left after the first round. The music in the background was pleasant, but not all of the patrons were. It was not too crowded, but very loud with drunk and yelling patrons. When we saw a customer nodding off thier seat at the end of the bar, we knew it was time to go.

I went here for happy hour with my coworkers and was really impressed with the place! We had a large group and our waitress was attentive. The fish tacos were delicious, and I am very picky about my fish! I had some bbq guiness wings that were also really tasty. If I ever want to grab a drink with friends and are in the downtown area, I will definitely suggest this place!

After our underground tour, we needed some drinks and food! I ordered the Black Castle, which was a combo of Guinness and New Castle, and he-the Bodington. I loved both! Never tried a black castle, nor a Bodington (never even heard of it before) and now I'm a fan. Our entree was the lamb sandwich in au jus, and a chicken quesadilla. Overall, service was fantastic, food was good, and drinks were great. I miss it already...

Always been a fan of that dark wood irish ambiance and after Kells if I love any irish joint in town then it is Fado. I love to call in sick at work to watch a Soccer game any afternoon at Fado. This place is for Guinness and Soccer lovers. The food well with rounds of Guinness I usually forget to order it, but so far I have tried their quesadilla which is great. Its hard to find a spot to sit specially after Sounders win a game. So be prepared to raise a toast while standing. A perfect fan club with good crowd.

My girlfriend and I discovered this charming but slightly over decorated Irish pup in January 2011 and have been returning at least once a month since. (I've managed to sneak in a few extra times without the girlfriend) I prefer to belly up to the bar where the service is handed out in timely manner with a smile and a hand shake. The management I've met seems to be down to Earth and takes the time to say hello. The wait staff may need a little work here and there. It's a roll of the dice who you get to take orders and serve your food and drinks. Most of the time it's been spot on service...when it's not busy mind you. I've sat down and waited in an almost empty room for longer than necessary for service and when we did it was less than adequate. Once in a dozen or so visits isn't bad in my book. Everyone has a bad day but like a cold if you have one stay home. All and all I like this Irish Pup and will return from time to time staying away from peek hours where a packed house may be for some folks it's not my cup of tea.

A beautiful bar that gets packed on game night. Loved the ambiance, plus there was a dance floor, not my cup of tea, but still awesome to have if you want to dance but don't want to go to a club. The service was great even though they were packed to the gills. Definitely one of my new fav's!

The bartender was a total ass. Middle aged bald guy, you know who you are. Only brought one round and then completely ignored our party. I won't subject you to what happened when he came to take our orders. About an hour after he brought the first round we got tired of waiting and went to the bar for our check. What a crappy end to an otherwise good night.

Food was ok. Our waitress was super nice and happy to help us with area questions if we had any. She was actually really excited/ surprised that we had our own guide books and were looking up info on our own so I think that made her more willing to help.

I went into this lovely spot last weekend and I have to say that I had the best waitress of all time. Nancy is a joy to be reckoned with. I am a stickler for good service. My friend and I ordered mozzarella tomato panini's and amazing beer and she was so attentive and funny! I am defintiley going back there, and hopefully will see my favorite waitress in Seattle! Happy Holidays and thanks FADO for making this a wonderful town.

A REAL Irish pub and not some dive bar that borrowed an Irish name. Good British food and a proper pint a Guinness, plus Magner's cider. Love the fixtures and fittings here. Just wish they'd embrace their dart boards - every time we come here to play they're not available for use.

Does Fado mean "stereotypical pub" in Irish? All 3 stars go to the hardworking and fun staff.

Great food - I'd have to give 5 stars but the service is a 3.

IRISH CAR BOMBS!!!!! Sorry, now that I have that out of my system, let's continue with the review. the food is decent, the beer selection is better than average, and it's adequate location is far enough away from the yahoos of Belltown and the crazies of Pioneer Square, making Fado an ideal spot for good times. it's a deceivingly big place, plenty of space to, I don't know, let's say hypothetically, reserve a room for a birthday party? Sound good? the staff was very accommodating and on top of making sure everyone was well liquored up before the night was through. extra props for making things right and giving all the party goers their $5 cover back. overall, a great place and a great party....hypothetically, of course.

Totally different from the Fados here in Chicago. This Fados is actually more of a sports bar than an Irish pub. I really did enjoy myself when we visited for the Bears game last year. The vibe was on point, the service was excellent...and we even scored a few free rounds because I told the manager we were from Chicago. How cool is that? If your city has a Fados, I will be there! ps - don't try scoring a free drink at the Fados in Chicago. You could be Jesus himself, looking for a freebie...and they will show you the door.

Yeah, ok, so it's a chain. I thought the place was pretty laid back. Girl friend and I enjoyed a few HH meet-ups here last summer. The bartender was nice and attentive. He did a great job with my drinks: Bombay Sapphire martini, 3 olives.

Fadó, fadó, bhíodh bialann i Seattle, "Fadó"... As a dyed-in-the-wool, dedicated and ferocious Plastic Paddy, this place is designed to appeal to me, and I have to admit I do like it. It's fun to have an "Irish" place to go for lunch or dinner or a pint, and since I work right across the street it's convenient as hell. The service has always been personable, they have Irish sports on the television, and they play authentic Irish music, much of it in Gaelic, much to my heart's content. I've had one of their boxty dishes, which was enjoyable. However, what I really recommend is their All-Day Irish Breakfast. It's heaven on earth for a low-carb devotée: two Irish sausage links, slices of grilled ham, two pieces each of white and black pudding, two eggs sunny side up, a grilled tomato and brown bread with butter. I skip the bread and chow down with gusto. Out of this world. Unfortunately, I have to ding them on their Chicken Caesar, which is a standard by which I judge any restaurant of this variety: I got it to go and it arrived with ice-cold, overly-strong dressing in a separate container on the side instead of pre-dressed like it should be. At the end of the day, it's about as authentically Irish as a box of Lucky Charms or Irish Spring soap, but overall it's a decent, middle-of-the-road, American grill type of place with an Irishy theme goin' on. Stop by if you haven't been yet.

This place is pretty cool...I really like the noisy din and the sports bar atmosphere with lots of good beer. This is the perfect place to hang before a Sounders Game. Lots of fans, and lots of excitement. Warm weather brings folks outside on the sidewalk seating, just beware that this is now where smokers hang. Good food too...not gourmet, but filling as bar food should be.

Probably the worst Irish food I've ever tried to eat, and I've eaten a lot of Irish food. I figured ol' favorite corned beef and cabbage was a safe bet when trying Fado for the first time, but was thoroughly disappointed--the beef was so tough I could hardly chew it and the limp cabbage was salted to the point of being inedible. I tried my partner's food to make sure my meal wasn't randomly overspiced and found his meal equally excessively peppery. This, combined with the rude waitress and incredibly loud atmosphere, makes me very disinclined to return.

So, in the past couple of months I've gone from a Greek addict to a happy hour addict. There really is no need to pay full price in Seattle because we have an amazing array of establishments that provide wonderful food, and Fado's is one of my favorites. With discounted drink prices and discounted apps you can walk out of their feeling great for less than $15. We went last night and between the 5 of us we ordered 2 salmon bites (crispy potato salmon bites served with a horseradish sauce) 2 fondue type dishes (seriously, heaven on a plate) 2 spicy chicken quesadillas and burger sliders. We ordered several beers, they have a great selection. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. She was very busy and very composed... I will definitely be back! One of my new favorites...

Well.. It was an accident that I ended up here two nights in a row.. but hey- I had a great time on both nights, so I can't complain! Night #1- U2 coverband night.. and WOW.. were they.. something. A very nice bartender took care of us ladies and made some great drinks while we kept the crazies at bay! Night #2- Back after Ibiza and Del Rey madness.. Drank some Guinness and watched my friend work a red sweater vest with gold garland at the armholes and neck off a dude. She wore it for the rest of the night. Brilliant. It's crazy in here and I don't care too much for the main rooms when you walk straight in, but I dig the one off to the right. Good space for a large amount of friends to bs and get lit up.

I admit it - I fall in love with buildings very easily. Buildings that serve me alcohol, even moreso. But most of those loves fade within the week, along with my hangover memories. Not so with Fado's. A pint of Magner's and a plate of fried potatoes with Rose sauce from this bar is a requirement on any and all trips up to Seattle for me. I stumbled in here one evening with a fellow out-of-towner just looking for a place to get warmed up over a drink before meeting up with people, and within 10 minutes it was my favorite pub in Seattle. I could do without the big cheesy countdown to St. Patrick's day screen, but the service, the genuine warmth the rooms exude, and the delicious menu all make up for a bit of chain-pub cheese. Now to find an excuse to go up to Seattle this month...

My wife and I love this place. Great food, great atmosphere, and they know how to pour a Guinness. This is a great bar, Irish or otherwise.

Came here for the after party of the Columbia tower climb a few weeks ago. I must say on this night I was in the right place. A whole bunch of buff firefighters you can't go wrong...haha Anyway about the bar...... It seems like a pretty big bar with a lot of room. I like the decor and the vibe to this place. I didn't buy any of my drinks but from what I heard they seem to be priced fair. I really want to come back and see this place on a regular night. Also I want to try their food!

I'm not Irish... My grandpa is Welsh though... is that close enough? Whatever... I like this place Irish or not. They've got things like potato boxtys and shepherds pie and soda bread of course. I had the parsnip curry soup and I licked my bowl. The guy sitting next to me had corned beef and cabbage and it look d'lish. The portions are huge! You for sure get your banger for your buck.

Best Irish breakfast ever.. nothing like a plate of questionable meat products over sloppy beans accompanied by a couple fried eggs and two slices of bread that could've sank the Titantic..DELICIOUS I was introduced to Fado's by my Uncle (from England) to go watch a Football match and support his beloved MIGHTYY REDS (Manchester United FC), and honestly been loving the place ever since, however, since said introduction I have began following a rival Football Club to my Uncle's: GO NEWCASTLE! TOON ARMY!!1 TAKE A DRINK IF YOU' LOVE THE TOON!
