Fantastic cocktails, amazing bartenders and GREAT food. They are the definition of a food forward bar. I really enjoyed the minimal atmosphere of the interior. It is such a welcome addition to Pioneer Sq!

Okay, fine, I get the "small plate" mentality: half portions for the regular entree price in the name of trendy dining (or sharing, or whatever). I can absolutely get behind that idea if the food is on point and the price is right, but good Lord, DtW, you guys have it all wrong. Two of us for dinner tonight. Meandered in after seeing pretty good reviews and liking the ambiance. Service was prompt and we were seated at one of those obnoxious "right in the middle of the walkway" two tops that these tiny restaurants seem to love so much. That's okay, the food sounds awesome! The good: -Service was okay (lots of water refills but had to stop server for another round of drinks). Also, pacing, but more on that later... - The Caesar Salad Sandwich was absolutely lovely. The egg cooked in? C'mon, that's culinary genius right there. - Ambiance was great. Music wasn't too loud and the brick-y Pioneer Square vibe absolutely worked -Bartender made a good Old Fashioned. The bad: -Portions were embarrassingly small. Insultingly. We ordered four items (Chicharones, Zucchini Carbonara, Sweet Potato Dumplings and previously mentioned Caesar Salad Sandwich). Between those four items there was probably enough food for one good entre at a normal restaurant. - Prices were embarrassingly high. The dumplings were a handful of balled up sweet potato puree with another handful of cheese (pecorino? romano?) on top and ran $12. Three tough, over-friend Chcharones were $6. Inexplicably, the sandwich was only $10, and we clearly should have foregone all other items for two orders of that bad boy. - Flavor was confused and way off. Chicharones? Super salty. Dumplings? Salty cheese pile that drowned out any hint of sweet potato. Etc. - Pacing. Yeah I know, Small Plates means "to hell with timing the food! You get it when you get it!", but these tiny, expensive plates came out at actual 20 minute intervals!!! That was over an hour for waiting on snack-sized portions, with a freaking sandwich as the closer (since that clearly takes an hour to make). C'mon... $100 later and still hungry, we left as bummed out as we've been at a dining experience in a while. If we're dropping that much on dinner for the two of us, we'd prefer something memorable for good reasons, not all these. Don't anticipate coming back, even for that delicious sandwich.

We stopped in here on a rare night out. I was looking for a place to grab a drink that wasn't an enormous sports bar- it fit the bill. The ambiance is nice. We sat at the bar- they were a little busy but not slammed by any means. It took a while to place an order, the drinks took a while to come. Mine was really an amazing cocktail. Gin passion fruit cava- it was yummy! My husband had something that he didn't like. The guy who took our order knew that and he encouraged him to get something else next time. I mean- when you order and wait for an $11 drink- shouldn't you like it? Do they mix so many bad drinks that they can't afford to dump them? Do they just have an inventory problem? Whatever it is, the customer service was lack but maybe we just aren't cool enough to appreciate it.

I came in to Damn The Weather on a trip to Seattle about a week ago. The bartenders were extremely hospitable and showed my boyfriend and me a great time. After finding out that we were out-of-towners, the bartenders went out of their way to give us their top picks for things to do all over the city. The drinks were great, the food was delicious, and I would definitely recommend this cozy establishment.

There are always things to like and things to dislike in a restaurant, so the question is what rates a star and what doesn't? But based on the food alone, I have to give Damn the Weather five stars, more if I could. Unfortunately, both my companion and I had the daily special, so it is not something one can go in and order anytime. (Or I'd have been back by now.) The BBQ Pork Ribs are the best I have ever tasted! There was no vinegar or tomato taste, just prunes! It was heavenly. The waiter brought us extra napkins, implying it was OK to use fingers, but the ribs were so tender the meat was mostly already off the bone, and the napkins went unused. But that is not all. The side was the best slaw I have ever tasted. (Honestly, I am not given to exaggeration.) What looked at first like short spaghetti noodles was celery root. Plus there was arugula and walnuts and I forget what else. It was crunchy and not vinegary. I could have made a meal of it. We started with regular fries and aioli sauce. Fries were a bit limp, but satisfying enough. I was disappointed that we didn't get some kind of bread. I wanted to end with some gelato since all the desserts on the menu had a scoop of some different and interesting-sounding gelato on top, but no, gelato alone was not available. (The rhubarb tart was good. I got it for the ginger gelato on top, which hit the spot.) I asked for a cup of decaf and was informed that they don't serve it. A bar/restaurant without decaf? The waiter offered me a cup of French press instead. I didn't want the caffeine and I'm not fond of French press, so passed. The restaurant is noisy, which can be a positive or a negative, depending on what you are looking for. We had trouble hearing each other, but at least our conversations were private. Ha. No reservations are taken and the place was packed (on a Wednesday), but we only waited about ten minutes for a table. The greeter was helpful and delightful, but the subsequent service was merely adequate. Just doin' the job ...

Sorry folks, for this party of 6 this place totally sucked. 2 of us ordered beers. They have 2 taps and accommodated 1 of us. (The keg was blown.) How about a Baileys and coffee. Nope. No Baileys. Then another tried for a Kahlua and coffee. No Kahlua. Ok, how about a coffee. None brewed. So they put on a pot. And a Margarita. (Not even in a Margarita glass.) The sixth decided to just opt out. (Obviously a good choice.) One order became a coffee without booze. $4!!! And never even an offer of a refill. DAMN! What did we get worth the $30 bill??? We still wonder. Dammittohell. Never mind the weather.

Caesar Salad sandwich with an egg(!) was delicious and juicy and the thick toast and dressing all running into my mouth made me groan in pleasure. Then I bit into the burger all organic grass fed beef and sauteed mushrooms and saucy flavors so perfectly seasoned. But thats not all...the drinks were really nice and strong. Real cocktails. I had The Woodwork which I'd order again tonight if I was there. Bartender was an artist! The way he put our cocktails together as if for the love of his life...

I'm SO happy DTW is here! I live down the street so I'm loving great places moving into the area. I would like to give more stars and I hope I can when the growing pains are fixed. First, very cool, fun crowd! Wait staff very friendly. We were seated right away. I have to agree with the write up from the other reviewer regarding the ceviche. They need to revisit this dish, it does not work. The taste was just bad, & I couldn't get rid of it all night. I'm from Nola & I love shrimp & I love ceviche but this missed the mark.very strange taste. I had two friends with me & we all agreed this was bad. The wait staff was very friendly & attentive but they need to learn the menu and be able to expand on dishes. I'm sure they will improve with time. That's just growing pains. The fries were DELISH ! The duck hot dog was very good, so were the oysters. Drinks- great! The noise level is off the charts loud but hey, it's a bar! If you are looking for a quiet dinner, not the place. Welcome DTW I'll keep coming back & welcome to the hood!

Hot dog was great. Fries were soft but maybe that is a preference. Fried pickle was tasty. Drinks are great. Service was awesome. Leather seat in the back, great place to sit and see the entire bar.

My friends and I happened to be in Pioneer Square last weekend and decided to grab a pre-dinner snack and beverage. Our first warning should have been that they rather rudely turned us away when we unknowingly arrived 10 minutes before they opened. We waited out front until 5 minutes past their opening and still had to ask to be let in. The staff certainly didn't seem enthused to be there or want patrons. I ordered their old fashioned which came spiced with cardamon, which I really liked. I also had the special latkes of the day. One of them came so browned it was almost black so I had to scrape off the burnt part. What I found most frustrating was I had finished 2/3 of my drink and turned to talk to my friend and when I came back to my drink one of the gals had taken it away without asking me if I was done. The bartender was very nice about it and offered to make me a new drink but we were under a time constraint and I didn't want to rush downing another drink. Not to mention that's a lot of alcohol to consume in such a short time. I told her I didn't want a whole new drink since we had to leave soon. Instead of offering to comp the drink the bartender just made me half of an old fashioned, which was not nearly as good as the first. It was just overall an unpleasant experience which is unfortunate because they cocktails were very good and the atmosphere is great. It's nice to see businesses are moving back into the area but save your money and go to one of the other new bars that have better service.
