Wait, how did I end up paying $18.25 for a drink and a small salad?!? Oh yeah, my drink was an $8 glass of sangria. It seemed steep, but a stomach full of cheese and the raves I heard about this sangria got the better of my monetary judgement. Too bad the reviews were completely wrong. Maybe my coworkers (and most Yelpers here) were served some different sangria that was on some super secret menu. For my $8, I got a glass of questionably murky booze (I can't call this wine) with a few cubes of orange rind. I drank maybe half. It's pretty bad when you lose to Carlo Rossi by a landslide. The salad was decent enough -- at least this place had salt & pepper on the table so I could properly season it myself. But again, $6.50 for lettuce, tomatoes and a couple of slices of avocado? I could've made something better myself, for $2, and it wouldn't have been swimming in a pool of "oil" water. I couldn't hear or understand our waitress very well, and none of the waitstaff was particularly friendly. One star for the nice cashier and the view from the balcony. Otherwise, I'd downright want my money back.

Save your money. This place has a GREAT view! Now on to everything else. The food was extremely lack luster and very pricey. I ordered the sangria, which was like a pricey fruit juice. My companion ordered the paella. The rice was mushy, and the meats were lacking. My dish was ok, but still not all that great. We really enjoyed looking out on the water, but we should have not ordered food. When my companion made a comment about the status of his crappy paella, the waitress stared at him like he was speaking sin. When he then brough up the lack of actual meat in his dish, she started giving him the "And what do you want me to do about it look". We weren't asking for a free meal, he was just trying to let her know the food was REALLY sub par. It finally ended with a, "I just thought you should let your manager know, and we will not be coming back." She then gave another "You uncultured fool" look and walked off. Only come here if you want to have 1 drink and watch the market.

Solid 3.5 stars! Great location in the middle of pike place, wished it was warm/summer time to make use of their balcony! The place itself is small but charming. Brightly lit and not too crowded considering the space. The tiny kitchen is completely open --so it fun to watch them make your meal! Service was quick, A little apathetic perhaps. The menu is small but interesting -- and all sorts of yummy cocktails to be had! I stayed sober and completely LOVED on my Inca Cola. I was drooling over their sangria's though. Boy had the steak sandwich (with a fried egg on top! yum!) and I had this saucy lamb dish with so-so rice & black beans. Pretty tasty when you mixed it all together. Fun lil place for a quick bite if you are wandering around Pike's and would like a place to sit & relax.

(Cue instrumental Mr. Manilow now) "His name was Johnny, He was the host kid, He showed us our table, that's what he did. It's name was Pisco, Last name was Sour, I could have drank these for more than an hour. We drank some BOO-ZEY drinks, I HAD JUST ONE, methinks, but I could have stayed real late, MAN, this place was really greaaaaat, At the COPAAA, COPA- CABANAAAAAA, The Hottest spot West of HA-VAAAA-NAAAA (yeah, the one near Neumo's- you know where), At the COPAAA, COPA- CABANAAAAAA, Where music and passion were alwaaaaays in fashion..'' This is where the song (and dance.. yes, I was dancing) ends, people.. Order the Pisco Sour and/or the Mojito and enjoy the view.

I had my first Bawls here. The waitress (she was cute) said "I'll bring your Bawls right out." ....... That sounds funny.....?! Here started our Bawls joke the whole time we were there and until we got home and the next day. "wow, I got my own Bawls now." "I want to keep this bottle...it's cute and funny." "yeah,,,it's cool. Bright blue,,,and those little studs like texture is different." ",,,,uh,,,,,it reminds me of something,,,," ",,,,,perfect!" "perfect." "Don't touch my Bawls!!!!! ----is what i'm gonna say if she tries to take this bottle." Oh, we also had food. The appetizer, Corn Pie was really good. We shared Paella and it was Okay. I don't know anything about Bolivian food, but it didn't taste as good as I thought it would. and that's all we had... Let's see,,What does Bawls taste like, u might ask? ,,hmm it tastes like Japanese Ramune soda if u ever had one,,,,. It's a clear soda with Guarana in it. High in Caffeine,,,the bottle I brought home says. I would love to purchase this drink by a case and enjoy them at home if possible...like really. Maybe I'll mix it with alcohol. But meanwhile, I got to go to Copacabana Cafe to get me some more!

Great food, service, and view. YUMMY!! Don't understand the other reviews being to negative? I would suggest this to anyone. Go and enjoy. I will return.

Extremely disappointing. Food was bland, service was slow, and the staff stood talking most of the time. Never got refills on water. Bummer, because it is in such a great location. Will not be going back.

Trying to decide on a restaurant near Pike's is nearly impossible. I chose this place because I enjoy trying new things and I've never had Bolivian food before. The second story view of the marketplace and the waterfront was really pretty but that was probably the highlight of the whole evening. I ordered the sangria which was good, but not the best I've ever had. And for $8 a pop, not worth it imo. The house salad had mostly lettuce, one piece of cucumber, and a very oily, not that great, italian dressing. The bread was cold, as was the butter so we didn't even touch that. For my entree I had the paella and was utterly disappointed when it came out with tiny, sparing pieces of clams and mussels, and what looked like frozen pieces of bay shrimp. It seemed incorrectly prepared. It was almost risotto-ish. I thought it was suppose to be more dry, like spanish rice. They gave me a green spicy salsa that slightly improved the dish (probably what kept me from giving them a 1 star). My friend had some chicken dish that she said was bland even though it was a tomatoey sauce. Service was 3 stars. They did their job, but I just didn't get a warm, friendly vibe from them. Got some pretty pictures. If I ever go back, it will only be for drinks so that I can take advantage of the view.

I was really excited to eat at the Copacabana, mostly because they serve one of my favorite dishes -- pollo saltado. After thinking about it all day and getting excited to nosh on a favorite dish and people watch with a friend I was extremely disappointed to get to the door and find that it was closed until "spring 2011." Guess I'll be calling ahead next time to make sure it's open....

Average food at unfriendly price. The seating space is very cramped yet offers great view. Location is excellent. If I am local probably I'd look elsewhere. But as a tourist this is a decent place.

We wanted to really like this place. The service was OK, the food was mediocre, and the wine was just OK. The view however was well worth the cost of admission. The umbrella's provided the perfect shade from the sun, and the height above the street below the perfect venue for people watching. We likely won't go back since we have 'been there, done that', but it's cool to do it at least once. Just set your expectation low for the food and enjoy the great view.

After being seated, the waitress comes over and refuses to wait on a table of four women after the color run! She said we weren't allowed to stay since we weren't sure if we were going to order an entree but wanted to order some drinks and maybe an appetizer. She took our menus and walked away. I will never go back, regardless of their amazing outdoor seating on a hot sunny day. Copacabana waitress you would think some sort of tip would have been better than no tip at all.

The place is great... In the middle of Pike Market with rainbow umbrellas. I really like the bread and the bean soup they have. The entrees are good enough.

Ok, so the service is a little lack-luster (seems the owners like to get away with having as few poor waitresses running their arses off as possible- so many of these bad service reviews would be positive if they just had a few more servers-heck, even one!-on each summer lunch shift!) Also, the waiters, I'm sure get jaded after working here and getting so many out of country visitors who DON'T KNOW THAT YOU NEED TO TIP! I worked at a touristy spot and it royally blew because at least 1 our of 3 tables left nothing but friendly smiles and waves as they left, despite my service, friendliness, and tour guide suggestions. BUT the reviews about bad food? Umm....has anyone here ever had Bolivian food IN Bolivia? I can say from experience that the food here is waaaaay better than anything "authentic" in Bolivia. I mean, it's pretty balsy to start a Bolivian food restaurant in the first place because Bolivian food is pretty dang third world and basic. I for one, am appreciative for the twists they've taken on authentic tastes and sassed them up a bit! There is a reason Copacabana is the only Bolivian food restaurant in Seattle- because, for the most part, authentic Bolivian food sorta sucks. As for the prices, ya, they are a bit steep, as I'm sure the rent is on this place! When you are climbing the spiral steps to the only restaurant with a view overlooking the actual market and the water, one would assume that the view and outdoor dining situation is going to be factored into the menu prices. The paella sells out all the time- sometimes in a matter of minutes and it is made in batches, so if you are too late, you may be out of luck. They do not serve enchiladas (as the woman next to me the other day was insisting she saw on the menu). Enchiladas are from Mexico, empanadas are from Bolivia. They do serve empanadas, and they too sell out quickly and take a while to cook a new one. Their super hot green sauce is good, locals know to ask for it. Be friendly to the kitchen staff and they will do right by you. Be courteous to your over-worked waiter and she will be grateful. Enjoy the view (it's one of the best in the city), enjoy the outdoor balcony (again, something you don't see much of in Seattle!), and try not to be a tight ass with too much criticism...it thoroughly spoils the atmosphere of the market and the spirit of Seattle.

We had high hopes for this charming restaurant in downtown Seattle with outdoor seating and a view of Pike Place Market and a peek of the sound. It seemed perfect for a warm summer evening. There is so much potential for this place but unfortunately we will not be going back anytime soon. Food was pretty terrible - I had the shrimp special and the hubs had steak and veggies. Veggies looked and tasted like they had been reheated from frozen. Food was terribly salty. Sangria watery. Service OK.

We were a party of 13 for Sunday Dinner June 5th, in the patio seating: Beautiful weather. a beautiful view not just of the busy market but also of the sun bending over the bay toward the olympic peninsula. I was glad the scenery was so spectacular because the last time I was here (a couple years ago) the food and service weren't so impressive. But this time, they were. With such a large group we were just hoping to avoid bad service, but it was fine. And the food was great. (We did have one check, by previous agreement among ourselves). In our party, we enjoyed beef, chicken and seafood dishes. The corn appetizer was delightful. The shrimp soup was stunning. The Sangria was great. Yes, the drinks were a little pricey, but the food was reasonable and the experience was great.

My family and I visited the restaurant for the first time and I couldn't have been more disappointed. We waited 20 minutes for some kind, any kind of interaction and got nothing. We had one waitress who either couldn't speak, chose not to speak, or was just having a bad day, come by, drop menus at our table and walk away. She never offered us drinks, said hello or anything. Other people showed up well after we were there and she didn't have any problem assisting them. That is, after the gentleman that was sitting there with his family walked in to get someone's attention. We ended up leaving, went downstairs and had awesome Spaghetti and pizza at Pasta Bar with people who were happy to have us there instead. Shame on that waitress for her attitude and absolutely horrible customer service. I know a lot of people who would be more than happy to have a job, any job, and would do it with a smile.

HUGE tourist trap! The location is great, right above the market but that's the only thing really going for this place. We each ordered a salad and a margarita and our bill was over $50. The salads were ok but were swimming in dressing. You better eat fast or you are going to have soggy, wilted lettuce. The margaritas were very sweet with no tequila (that I could taste). For what we paid, any other restaurant in the market would have been better.

Wow.. Whats with all the bogus reviews on this place. Yeah its right in the market, but just because a place has a great location doesn't mean its a tourist trap. My definition of tourist trap is a place that crams as many people in the door as possible with a gimmick and then serves boring run of the mill, bland food. The food at this place is very specific to a region of south america, and way off the culinary beaten path. My fiancée who was born and lived in Peru come here for food that reminds her of home. The restaurant actually claims to be Bolivian, but they have some dishes on the menu that are clearly Peruvian and served in uniquely Peruvian fashion. Although dishes here like the lomo saltado are really good, I actually like the salads best, because they are nothing like the salads that you get at typical american restraints. They are VERY fresh and VERY light. They come with huge slices of fresh veggies, like cucumber, avacado and perfectly ripe tomato. The produce on your plate looks like produce does on TV right before they cut into it with a knife, all dripping wet. There is one particular chicken salad on the menu, the name escapes me but its served with cold shredded chicken and its awesome, very unique. The magaritas are great, strong and small, European style, not served in a pint glass with assloads of sour mix like at a americanized mexican joint. Sangria is good, and they have INCA cola which is a Peruvian favorite. Great place to come to have a beer out on the balcony and have some great south american cuisine. Try the Lomo, its pan fried asada style steak with sauteed onions, peppars and spices served with white rice. Its tough not to like. Oh yeah.. Service is good when its slow and can lag a bit when its jam packed, but thats excusable, on a nice day there are way to many people here!

While visitng Pike's Place we got a hankering for some good food and good people-watching. We were only successful on accomplishing the latter at Copacabana. The food and drinks were overpriced for the quality in my opinion and service is EXTREMELY slow. We started out with two margaritas, which when we asked if they did pitchers, they told us "no, but the margaritas are very large"... I'm sorry, but in my opinion an $8 margarita that is 10 oz. hardly qualifies as a large margarita. Next we ordered the ceviches as an appetizer. Again, especially when in Pike's Place - a place known for its seafood - the shrimp were Cup O'Noodle sized shrimp and the variety of seafood in the ceviches was limited to two items, micro-shrimp and micro pieces of fish. I'm a big fan of ceviche, but i'd stay away from Copacabana's version of it. Finally, the Paella also left something to be desired. 2 Shrimp, 2 small Mussels (with tons of soot), 2 Small Clams, small bite-sized hilshire farms sausage slices and a half-dry chicken leg mixed with saffron-rice was what they called paella... and to top it all off, the service took on average 5-10 minutes between requesting silverware to eat your rice with, for example, and getting said silverware. Overall, if you want to enjoy some nice views and people-watch in Pike's Place, this is a good place to hang out, but don't expect to leave satisfied with your meal as well.

Sometimes settling for subpar food for an awesome summer patio and view is justifiable, but this place is not worth the exception. Inspired by the only day of sunshine that we have had in two weeks and wanting to take advantage, my girl friend and I were super excited to discover Copacabana and their amazing patio that overlooks Pike Place. In short, our experience on the best patio in downtown Seattle consisted of terrible, terrible service (from our waitress, not the other staff) and the most ridiculously bland and boring food (I've had better at Taco Time), which was certainly overpriced considering what you get (or more appropriately, don't get). The menu selection was uninteresting, and since it didn't seem like the type of place serving trustworthy meat, I had the vegetarian dish/salad entree. Rice was undercooked, beans were watery, and the "salad" was about a half a cup of romaine drizzled with a little balsamic, a cherry tomato and a dingy slice of avocado to garnish. My margarita was week and tiny, and again, overpriced. The only good part was the bread. This is just another tourist trap of a restaurant that takes advantage of their customers by luring them in with their awesome location, with no concern for providing quality food or service. It's a shame that THIS is the restaurant occupying the space with the best downtown patio. There is no character, no charm, no decor, no flavor, no service or food standards. I really, really hope that it goes out of business and gets replaced by something at least decent. This place would be a gold mine if someone like Tom Douglas opened a restaurant here. I'll cross my fingers!

This is one of my favorite place to dine in the Pike Place Market. IT is especially nice in the summer time with the flowers on the balcony. I love the bay shrimp salad and flavored iced tea. BTW, this is not a place for a fast lunch. Take your sweet time and enjoy the scenery there.

This place is freaking awesome, and the view is unbelievable. I don't care what people say about the salad - there is some BAD salad out there, and this stuff is GOOD. The dressing is perfect, and it's even better if you smother the bread in butter and then dip it in the dressing. The "Ensalada Copacabana" without olives (it doesn't say olives on the menu, you have to *know* they're in there) is my favorite. Also, Folger's is more authentic than you might think. Fx, the Dominican Republic has crap coffee because they export all the good stuff and drink the bad stuff. And most of Mexico definitely drinks Folgers & Maxwell House! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 b/c I don't like some of the other menu items as well as the salads - I definitely go here for the salad and the view.

I love it! The view, the crowd, the food. I haven't tried the drinks bu tI did try pisco in Peru and based on this sour strong taste, woudl only recommend this to someone who truly wants a sour very strong drink.. ok that's lots of people! I always enjoy the salad, nothing fancy, just good healthy and good portion size. I go for the soup and then watch as others appreciate their main dishes. I will go back again and again.

I have NO idea what the food or the menu looks like at this place. What exactly constitutes authentic Bolivian/Ecuadorian food? I don't know either and I've been here 5 or 6 times. All I know is that this place has a great deck that overlooks the Market, has great mojitos and Pisco Sours and hardly ever crowded. Food? We don't need no stinkin' food.

It was my first day back in Seattle in 2 years. I wanted to try this play throughout all of high school and it was a little bit of a let down. My sandwich with Colombian spices was a little dry and the bread was a tad stale. My boyfriend wasn't impressed either. One star for the food I didn't wanna yack it out and it was fun being right above Pike Place. Very good view. Although too pricey for the food.

My co-workers raved about this place, so when they proposed it for "team fun" last month, I was eager to experience it for myself. The paella they said, was out of this world. Our group of 7 people went about 11:30am and our group was too big to fit outside, so we went in. The service was a bit slow the whole time, but they eventually brought us water and menus. We ordered two appetizers, some kind of cheesy corn cake (which was fantastic) and I forget what the other was...a meat pie? They were good. Three people ordered the paella, as they love it. However, I wasn't feeling the ten kinds of meat for lunch that day, so I ordered the black bean soup. It was more like black bean mush -- and I thought "with cheese" meant sprinkled on top, but no. It means random slice of cheddar in the soup! Too weird. And I think there was a piece of chorizo in there too. Kind of a weird surprise -- I hate to think what a vegetarian might have done. I just ate it. Another girl ordered a chicken dish, but it was a pile of noodles and veggies and one tiny piece of chicken....? I had a bite of some paella -- just the saffron rice, which was really flavorful and good. Copacabana is a little overpriced for what you get, but it's not a bad place at all. I don't know if I'm into Bolivian food all that much enough to go back though.

Bogus reviews? Authentic? When you order a Saltena and they waitress cautions you it will take "10-15 minutes" to come out, but a half-an-hour later it's plopped in front of you SOLID ICE COLD in the middle, you are not dealing with authentic. When you order coffee and you are served tepid Folgers, you are not dealing with authentic. When four waitresses sit and watch you eat from about four feet away, talking shit in Spanish the entire time because they think you can't understand them, you are not dealing with authentic. This place is a hole that's preying on tourists who think that the crap they are serving is some facsimile of what this delicious cuisine should be.

Not the best Bolivian food I've ever had. Actually, I wonder how much this restaurant fluctuates between specifically Bolivian and trying to be pan-Latin. Given Seattle's choices, though, this seems like the most accessible (and indeed only) South American restaurant in the touristy part of Seattle (I hear there's something in White Center and an upscale place in Kirkland). I give the food and service quality a solid 3 stars. For someone who's never tried Bolivian food, I'd say: don't judge the whole cuisine on your experience here. This is a toned down Bolivian place that, I assume, is intended to cater more to the NW American palette. The view on the balcony is pretty nice. I'd recommend trying the saltenas, they make a tasty, filling snack.

I had high hopes for the Copacabana Cafe it sits on a nice prime spot over looking the market, it was a sunny day I had a table outside and I had Barry Manilow's Copacabana Lyrics in my head: Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there She would merengue and do the cha-cha And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4 They were young and they had each other Who could ask for more? At the Copa, Copacabana The hottest spot north of Havana At the Copa, Copacabana Music and passion were always the fashion At the Copa....they fell in love Sorry apparently it's still stuck there. I went with the picante de pollo expecting something spicy what I got was boiled chicken breast with a tomato, onion and pea sauce nothing spicy at all and some rice not sure what kind of rice it was but it was pretty good. The salad that came with it was rather tasty I loved the dressing and the bread was warm and fresh as well but the chicken not so good. Even though the place was crowded our service was good, water glass and ice tea never went empty, order was taken and food delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Plus it really wouldn't have bothered me too much because of the great view and wonderful weather. The food didn't wow me but there are much better places to eat in the market but the view on a nice sunny day really can't be beat.

The great location at Pike Place Market and the 2nd story patio almost makes me want to go back to this place. Unfortunately, these are the only things Copacabana has going for it. We ordered the Halibut and the Shrimp soup. Both sounded delicious from the menu descriptions, but both were totally disappointing, bland and flavorless. I can't even give these dishes points for presentation. The part that was even more disappointing than the food was the service. It took so long for them to even bring us water after we were seated. The servers were totally inattentive, slow and not particularly friendly. After waiting forever for a bill, we handed over a credit card. How long should it take to run a credit card? About 1/10th of the time our server took. I will mention that we arrived at Copacabana well before the lunch rush. The place never even got very busy during lunch. At no point was there an obvious excuse for the terrible service we received. There were a lot of empty tables and plenty of wait staff to go around. On a happy note, at least we had a chance to sit on the patio enjoy one of the last days of sunshine.

This review is solely for the for food, just a heads up. The paella was disgusting. There was an inch of oil sitting on the bottom of the plate when you moved the rice around. The wait staff (what little of it there was) barely spoke any English. Definitely not worth 16.95, that's for sure. I think this is more of a place to sit and have drinks on the patio.

Food and service are not anything special - the camarones con arroz that I ordered was flavorful enough but the shrimp was tiny and the rest of the dish unexceptional. The sangria seemed weak to me. Service was spotty - there were very few other patrons but it still took too long for the staff to take our orders. Pricing was moderate - about $12-14 for most dinner entrees. For food & service, I would give this place two stars. The extra star is for the location and the view. Great place to sit outside, relax, and enjoy the view.

from 1-5, the foods are 3.... not so bad, but the service needs a little bit change. a little bit long and sometimes unmanageable during peak time.

If you're just looking for a good spot to people watch, have a drink and enjoy the deck on a sunny day, this place is perfect 5 stars. However, the service is very slow and indifferent. Not terrible but it certainly put a bit of a buzzkill on the evening. The food is average at best. I'd come back but only for a cocktail and the view.

    (2)
  • Suman G.

Service was indifferent, and we didn't eat, so I can't comment on that. But I highly recommend it as a spot to stop by. The view of the Sound and across to the Olympic peaks is amazing. Esp if it's sunny, head up here to have a few cervezas. In addition to some usual-suspect domestic & Mexican selections, they've got Cristal (Peruvian) and Pacena (Bolivian), both of which I tried for the first time.

We ended up coming here to watch the sunset, due to crowds at Pink Door and Matt's. Unfortunately they had just run out of the paella. We opted for the prawns and salmon, both of which I'd say were good both in taste and in value. Maybe it was due to it being late on a tuesday, but the service seemed a little off. No water, no checking on us, no inquiries if we wanted more drinks after. I don't know if I'd go out of my wya, but if you're near the market and want to eat outside with little or no wait, this is a pretty good option.

My friend and I were spending a lazy afternoon at the market this weekend and decided that we were finally going to try this spot. Since I was a teenager I have always looked up and been curious about this restaurant. The view is great, it looks right down to the market and you can see all of the vendors and people shopping. While we were having our meal on the balcony, we saw a bride and groom taking wedding shots. It was a gorgeous afternoon in the market. I got a basic bean and greens salad with rice. It hit the spot and was very light and satisfying. My best friend got the clams and mussels and she said it was great. I loved that I didn't feel overly full after this meal. The service was a little under par. It would take a while before the servers even acknowledged our presence. And I also saw them ignoring patron after patron as they waited to be seated. I don't think they know how many tables they lost over the time we were eating.

I agree, what's with the bogus reviews? Never been for breakfast but I LOVE this place for lunch. I grew up in Seattle but haven't lived there in 9 years, yet every time I come home, Copacabana is my first stop! I always get the corn appetizer (I forget the name), the Ensalada Vegeteriana (whatever the dress it with is amazing), and a glass of Sangria. I don't find it a tourist trap at all! It is one of my ultimate favorites!

68F on a Saturday afternoon. A table on a balcony for lunch sounded so perfect! The weather was great, the view was fantastic. The food...not as good. I ordered the Ensalada Chola (chicken salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, olives, and 4 slices of avocado) which was...pretty refreshing actually. Even though the dressing was very light, there was too much of it - a huge puddle of oil at the bottom of the plate when I was done. My friend ordered the same thing and a glass of sangria too. For $8/glass, I was expecting so much more (don't get the sangria). I ordered the "Bawls" (guarana in a berry flavored soda) which...was good, but I won't be ordering that again either. It tastes just like the Japanese soda Ramune, but not as bubbly (or intensely sweet either). Overall, it seemed slightly overpriced, and the food was just average, but the view was amazing! But I guess that's just what you're paying for anyways.

I genuinely enjoyed my trip to Copacabana today. Now, my opinion might be colored by the fact that it was the first sunny day we've had since moving here, but an afternoon where I got to sit outside and enjoy fantastic food was just what I needed. We were seated right away, and our order taken fairly quickly after we put our menus down. I got the Sopa De Frijol Negro (black bean soup with chunks of pork, and slices of cheese and egg) and a Saltena (meat and veggie pie). Both were delicious, but the soup especially so. The pork was so tender it nearly melted in my mouth. James got Aji De Cordero (lamb in a spicy peanut sauce with onions, tomatoes, carrots and peas) it came with black beans and rice. I didn't get to try it, but he was quite happy with the whole meal. The bread isn't warm, but it is soft, and was yummy to mop up soup with. The view is pretty great also, perfect to watch people from a birds-eye vantage. I can see how it may be difficult to get great service when it gets very busy, the layout of the restaurant isn't conducive to prompt service, but we had no problems while we were there. The only time we had to wait was at the cash register, and that was minimal. Not only would I go back (so long as it's sunny and not sub-arctic outside) but I would take visiting friends or family as well.

After a fun day of shopping at the Pike Place Market I thought this would be a great dining experience. The huge flower baskets and pretty umbrellas are so inviting and make you think your in for something special. Definately the worst food and waitress I've experienced in a very long time. The waitress took quite a while to come to us to get our drink order. I was a little jealous that we werent seated outside because at least those waitresses looked happy. When she did bring us our drinks she slammed them down on the counter like we ruined her day for coming. I had a question on the menu and she just grumbled the answer at me so I still don't know what she said. The nine dollar screwdriver I ordered tasted like plain orange juice. When our food finally came it was pretty bland and barely warm...not what we expected at all. The food took so long to come out that we had nothing to drink so we waited and waited and waited for the waitress to come check on us but she never came so we had to ask the man who was working the till. He finally got the waitress to bring us waters. We planned on ordering a dessert, however the mains were so terrible that we skipped it and practically had to beg for our bill so we could get out of there. Nobody bothered to say goodbye upon our exit. We will never go back. It's too bad that they are using that space as there could be so much more in the prime location.

Bring sun block if you plan on sitting outside. My whole left arm is now red! It's a great little restaurant above the Pike Market Place to watch the sunset and to people watch. They make a really killer sangria!

I have only been here once and I don't typically write a review until after multiple visits (unless the place sucks) but I'll step in and share my thoughts on Copacabana. I will not claim to be an expert on Bolivian cuisine but the experience at Copacabana was consistent with other South American cuisines I'm familiar with. This reminded me of my family's Mexican kitchen, something I haven't experienced at a restaurant here in Seattle. I think most Seattlelites think Mexican food, and all Latin food by extension, is tacos, burritos, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Those dishes are definitely part of it, but Mexican cuisine can be quite complex in comparison to your Azteca fare. The menu at Copacabana reminded me of dishes I haven't had since I was home such as the nuanced and sometimes improvised rice dishes, slow simmered meat, and simple staples such as arroz y frijoles. The spices, ingredients, and overall experience were quite different than my experiences with Mexican food, but the food had the same spirit and its own exotic texture which left me curious to try more. I had the Aji de Cordeja, which was a slow simmered lamb dish that was flavored (but not overpowered) with spices my palate was not familiar with. I'll likely be back for lunch soon. I'm very curious to try their take on paella. As others have said, the location is amazing. The west-facing balcony was a surprise and has to be one of the nicest places to enjoy a lunch in Seattle. The food is a bit on the pricey side (lunch entrees are about $13 each) but it's understandable considering the location.

The view gets 5 stars. The food 2.5. Service 2. The menu is small but decent.

I have never written a review that I felt so strongly about as Copacabana. Coming from someone who loves McDonalds and Denny's, I can honestly say that the food here was absolutely disgusting to the point where myself and my girlfriend got half way through our meals and quit. The drinks are very pricey and have minimal alcohol in them from what I can tell. Staff was very unhelpful and almost rude.

The one star is for the view only. That is the only thing that's good about this place. I lived in Seattle for 3 yrs. and would get homesick a lot and so I decided to google bolivian food one day and this place come up. I am 100% Bolivian, Yes, i was born in California but my parents are from Bolivia so that would make me an expert on Bolivian food. There is nothing authentic about this place. They have turned everything that is Bolivian food into Mexican food. Just so you know, Bolivian food does not contain: tortillas, bell peppers, beans, shredded cheddar cheese, or black canned olives. The Saltena's are disgusting, I seriously wanted to tell them how they were suppose to make it but thought it would just be pointless since it seems like the people running the place are all mexican. They turned the papa's a la Huacana into a salad. It's suppose to be just slices potatoes, eggs, and a chease/peanut sauce. though I won't complain that much about the salad they have created out of it because I did enjoy it. The owner of the place is a bolivian woman who is never there according to the waiters. they say she only visits the place in the summer and not very often. Seattle. Sorry to say that you will never taste authentic Bolivian food because there is nothing there that offers it. Your best bet is to buy a bolivian cookbook and translate it to english and attempt to make it yourself. Goodluck.

The sangria is good! Hence our stop here as locals, however, I am sad to say I am so very dissapointed. I am about to be very truthful with my experience, so please understand it might appear harsh, but it is exactly as it went down. Today my fiance and I dropped by, walked in the main entrance and was not greeted by what appears to be the manager and a hostess. Instead, they continued to hold a conversation about what their plans were for later. We stood there after greeting them and still they continued to ignore us. So we saw a waitress at the other end of the restaurant talking to 3 other servers (keep in mind they are about halfway full of customers). Upon approaching them, they looked at us, and one of the group walked up and asked if we needed to be seated. Thankfully we finally found someone who didn't appear too busy to do their actual job. Thanks to her we were able to find a seat. Then, once seated, we sat talking over the menu and enjoying conversation -- which is fine until you realize you've been seated for 15 minutes and haven't seen a single server or employee the entire time. Even the people next to us appeared frustrated with the lack of attention. We finally went in to "put in an order" to the group of now 5 standing inside and talking. They apologised for skipping us and quickly got our order out to the table, but the lady serving us (who I believe was the one in charge) had a disgusted attitude and even spilled the drink on the table. I don't expect 5 star dining at this restaurant, just a little bit of care. I mean, I am spending time and money here, it's just disappointing. Sangria is good though. Edit: service got a lot better after we said something. Worth the sangria visit.

After a quick shopping session and making our way through the hordes of summer tourists, my brother and i decided to grab a late lunch. We ended up strolling along post alley directly across from the market. We decided to climb the stairs to the cafe. We were pleasantly surprised to find an available table overlooking the market and with views of the sound. It was nice to eat outside with a breeze and an umbrella. I had a fabulous mojito that really hit the spot. Service was lightening fast. I ordered a potato with peanut sauce dish. Prices were reasonable even for the touristy area of pike place market. I would definitely return even if it was just for another mojito.

This place is hella random. I've walked by it at least 101 times, but never looked up from the street. It's the second floor balcony with alllll the umbrellas, in case you're wondering. Review is only for drinks, as it was a hot summer evening. They've got everything from daiquiris to pina coladas, to pisco sours here. Perch yourself on the outdoor patio with one of these, and it almost feels like you're on vacation.

I have been to Copacabana a couple times now and I like it. It's a lovely lunch respite from a grey office building. Their service isn't anything to write home about, but I love their patio (filled with colorful umbrellas, with a view over Pikes Place!) and their food has been great both times! I don't know a ton about Bolivian food, so I can't say if it's accurate, but I do think their dishes are tasty! Last time I went, I had the steak salad and it was delicious. Their bread that comes out first is nothing special though.

5 star view, 3 star food. A bit pricey for what you get, but if you consider the location it is probably about right. Had the entire outside patio with amazing Market and Sound views to ourself on a Tuesday night, my paella was tasty enough, as was my pisco sour, I would go again!

We were looking for food in Pike Place and had already been to the famous stores as it was our fourth stop at the market in four days so we chose randomly and came here since the balcony seating had a great view of the market for people watching. While the view is great, the food is nothing to write home about. I ordered a fish dish that came with rice. The actual fish itself was cooked very well and made up for the lack of flavor in the fish as a whole. There was a sauce but the sauce seem so watered down that you only got bare hints of the flavor and was otherwise more on the bland side. Luckily the fish itself was fantastic or I would've been quite sad.

Da bomb!!! This review was started in August after we spent the day in Seattle and I thought I finished it. I didn't so here it is a little late. Margarita on the rocks hit the spot twice;) we had a great lunch. Even the salad as simple as it is has a great dressing that is full of flavor. Husband had the paella- loved it. Black bean soup with chunks of pork was to die for. Nachos- fattening and fabulous. Our server was great. She was all by herself and it was pretty busy and she still managed to have a smile.

Service was extremely lacking, food wasn't the best especially for the price! We had two versions of the menu - one with old prices and one with new!! Not a good look, and illustrated how much they've hiked their prices. They only get custom due to their great location I'm sure.

  • Ben B.

Great people watching and location. Unfortunately that was about the only positive. The server slammed 3 of our plates down while delivering the food, and what we did get was overpriced. My wife paid 14 dollars for a very bland salad, and I paid 15 dollars for a plate of rice with poorly flavored chicken. Do yourself a favor and post up on a bench somewhere else, and forget this establishment that is only in business due to its prime location.

Really enjoyed this super cute spot on a gorgeous sunny day in the market. The salads we had were delicious and the location could not be more perfect. Unfortunately, the service was pretty terrible. We were left waiting for quite some time. The waitress forgot drink orders, messed up our bill (twice!) and could have been a lot nicer about it. I hope they can fix their service issues because it really is such a nice little spot overlooking Pike Place!

Beautiful setting on a sunny day. You won't get a much better view for people watching in the market with views of the Sound. I will go back for this view and for the friendly service and decent food. Food & drink - White Sangria was too sweet but looked good. I would not order it again. Next time, I'll stick with beer or the margaritas which my husband had. We ordered a salad, ceviche and rice and fish dish. Food was decent but not amazing. Our server was excellent, friendly and attentive. I will come back for simple fare and the gorgeous setting.

Fairly weak. Basing that just on the $7 nachos that weren't worth more than $1.50. Not recommended to stop here. Move on

Wow...this place has gone downhill over the years. The food has gone bland and tasteless. The menu remains unchanged and lacks creativity. The Salmon A La Huacaina is terrible. It's an overcooked piece of salmon seasoned with just pepper and the tears from my eyes when I saw the measly plate placed in front of me. Not only was the Salmon lacking flavor it was placed on overcooked white rice. Hurts my feelings that they even served that, I feel this comparable to hospital food fed to low sodium restriction diet patients.

I stopped here because of the over powering smell of delicious food, everything I had was beyond great, 5 stars for excellent food, service, location, atmosphere. If you ever find yourself in the area then do yourself a favor, eat here!

Copacabana gets three stars just for the location and the really unique balcony overlooking Pike Place Market. Other than that, there is nothing too amazing about this place. They have some tasty, refreshing drinks, but they are on the expensive end. They also serve several beers, including your typical Mexican imports. In my opinion, go to Copacana on a nice day, just order a few drinks, and watch all of the people down below in Pike Place Market.

Not sure why this place has average ratings. I really liked their breakfast menu. Just the right amount of food not to satisfy my hunger. The ceviche was awesome too, very authentic!! On a sunny day, the view is also a plus.

One review said it right. "DOG FOOD" They forgot "over priced" worse food I have had in years. Would recommend one of the dumpsters at the market before them. Couldn't finish half the meal. Instead of using doggy bag they should use poop bags.

Food: 1 Service: 2 Ambience: 5 We decided to spend the afternoon at the Pike Place market as the weather was awesome today. I vaguely remember that I had lunch here once before so we went there to give it another try. Copacabana is a small Bolivian cafe on the second floor of one of the market's buildings. You can easily see the cafe from the market but finding the stairway can be a bit tricky. They have several tables inside and some more on a balcony which has the best views of the market. You can also see the bay and the mountains from the balcony :-) As we arrived, we were told there isn't any table available on the balcony but we decided to wait instead of dinning inside (inside is not bad but the only reason for us to come here is the balcony). We waited for about 10 mins to get a table and I think if we had not reminded them, they would forget us completely. I ordered Paella and my wife ordered Lomito Saltado. We had never tried these dishes before so I have nothing to compare to but I am pretty sure they could do not much worse with these ingredients. My dish had a few pieces of shrimps, mussels and clams which were all overcooked; it also had an awfully bland chicken drumstick (which brought back the memories of the no-spice chicken soups my mom used to give me every time I was terribly sick), and some kind of risotto which tasted exactly like the chicken. My wife dish was a mediocre beef saute which was pretty tasteless but in my opinion was a bit better than my dish. I also ordered a glass of sangria which was probably the worst sangria I had ever have. As you can guess, I hated the food and service was not much better either; the waitress visited our table only twice: to take the order and to bring the check. So why 3-star rating instead of 1-star? Just because of the absolutely gorgeous view of the market. I love the view, and to be honest, I might come to this cafe again but just for a drink (probably bottled beer as I cannot trust anything else).

My coworker and I were hungry and wanted to kill some time before we had to go back to our conference. I looked up while we were at Pike Place and said we should check this place out. We both ordered a salad figuring we'd have dinner that night elsewhere anyways. Salad was alright. My shrimp one was standard...nothing special. His steak one had a little more flavor but nothing spectacular as well. Prices a bit steep but you're at a touristy spot. One good thing is that you can do great people watching being in the middle of Pike Place and looking below. It was a gorgeous day too.

  • Shilo W.

Good location, so they offer less than adequate food choices, and poor value. We would return for bottled beer and chips if a view of the market is what we want, but never again for a meal. The entrees were tasteless and expensive. Sitting outside is the only way to go in summer as the interior is stuffy and uninteresting.

I asked for the paella without meat and they still brought it with meat. No flavor and not much seafood in it...for a place that is at the Pike Place and known for fresh seafood...there was not much. Service was awful, waitress did not come once to ask how we were doing. Had to call her and ask for water. I must say the salmon was good. If you can't cook paella...please do not offer it on your menu!!!!!! And please use bigger shrimp in your food. Not the size that would come in a cup-a-noodle.

I don't know why everyone is bashing this? It's not terrible. Just be casual and eat the paella, sangria, and empanadas. It's food and it's prime location of Pike's. It's where you come if you want the feeling of the air. I've only been here in August.

  • Casey J.

Two stars is for the location only. We ordered the ceviche mixto appetizer which consisted of a few shrimp, and extremely dry white fish. It tasted like the fish was pre-cooked prior to marinating in citrus. The quality and quantity served were in my opinion no-where near the $14 charged. For dinner I had the paella which was flavorful, but the proteins were lacking. For the entire $17 dish, it was served with 2 small clams, 2 small shrimp, 2 small muscles, and a chicken drumstick. Flavor was good, but way over priced for the quantity. Overall, the only thing this place has going for it is the location. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was very slow even with taking our order. WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Stopped in here for a drink on the 2nd floor patio. Didn't get any food since we just wanted some afternoon delight (alcohol, not the other). My grey goose and soda and my friend's goose and lemonade tasted extremely watered down. Probably not fair to rate this place on alcohol alone, but sadly that's all we got.

Didn't get water. Drinks and food were expensive and not very good portions. Salad was doused in olive oil. Would not recommend this place. Great location, terrible food and drinks. Sangria tasted like straight brandy.

Great sangria and beautiful view from the patio. On nice days everyone wants to sit on the deck, so expect delays. That being said, the server are very nice. If you're hungry enough - the paella is wonderful.

We walked in and were directed to a table. 20 minutes later, I tried to get the attention of one of the waiters who was chatting with another staff and while she acknowledged my call with a head nod, she continued to chat and laugh. A couple got seated in front of us, and promptly got a waiter to get their drinks order. I was confused and communicated that we were interested in ordering something. Once again, the waiter acknowledged my request but this time, I got a gesture indicating that I needed to wait. Long story short, another ten minutes went by and I simply walked out. Service was awful... and it is a shame because this place is at the heart of Pike's place and has a beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking the flower market. I urge the restaurant manager to invest in training for customer service or simply hire people who are interested in working.

I came here because I wanted to eat on the balcony, but not even the spectacular view could make up for the food. I ordered the pork sandwich which looked very good according to the list of ingredients on the menu. Unfortunately it seemed the pork had not been seasoned at all, and it was nearly half fat. I'm not talking about fat within the meat either. I mean fat hanging off the edge of the sandwich. Entire bites were gooey gristle. I'm not a picky eater, but this was an unacceptable sandwich. The one redeeming quality of the restaurant was the waitress. Okay, maybe two... The view.

  • Aditya S.

The only reason someone should bother getting a table here is for drinks. The service is awful. We were seated right away but it took them 10 minutes to bring us water after we asked twice for it. The food is pretty bad, not awful but definitely not worth the price. The drinks are nice. The staff acts like they are doing you a favor by serving you, or sometimes by bringing you the rest of your order after making you wait for 30 minutes and then messing it up. They brought me the wrong entree and when I pointed out the mistake, they refused to correct it. They get two stars because of their drinks and the view. There are plenty of other options around here where you'll get better food.

Location Location Location. People put up with a less than perfect home to be where they want to be. Copacabana is actually about real estate. If it were anything else, the paella would have held up to all the hype about it. It didn't. But that's ok. Because I wanted to be here. Because even on a perfect early fall season weekend, seating was available. Because the staff did their jobs. Because there is only one Pike Place Market and one short life to live. I didn't cry when there wasn't a fireworks show coming off the plate.

Uninteresting food lugged to our table by a grumpy server. Maybe she'd had a plate of the same paella I was combing through. No reflection on her age, but the drumstick lodged in the middle of the dish was of the same vintage, and almost as unwelcoming. I almost lost my upper plate trying to tear some flesh off the bone. Wasn't worth the trouble. In short, don't come here if you feel like eating.

This review is mainly about the service, because we only had drinks. We were walking along Pike Place Market around noon on a Sunday and saw that there was a restaurant with outdoor seating just above the street. It looked like a great place to relax for lunch. My husband and I were with our daughter and her husband. We went up the stairs, saw no menu displayed, so we didn't even know what kind of food it would be. We were taken to a table for four on the patio. After ordering drinks, we started looking at the menu. The selections were different from what I'd ever seen before, so I was a bit leery, but my husband and I would have figured out something to order. (We are not inexperienced diners) Well, our daughter and son-in-law are a bit more finicky than we are, and could not find a single thing on the menu that they wanted. (Son-in-law is a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy.) It's not a very large menu at all. I even tried to find an appetizer that we could all share but none of them looked appealing either. So we decided to just have the cocktails and then go find another spot for lunch. When the waitress returned with our drinks and for our food order, my husband tried to politely explain that we decided to just have the drinks. Well, she got very upset with us. She said that this is lunchtime and they are busy, and we can't just have drinks! My husband said, "Well, what do you want us to do? Just leave the drinks? We looked at the menu and changed our minds..." She replied, "just drink fast" and then walked away!! The restaurant was actually not that busy. One or two 4-tops and all of the 2-tops were open on the patio and there was no one at all eating inside the restaurant. We felt that this was a very rude attitude by the server. We felt insulted and didn't even enjoy our drinks much. We had ordered 3 cocktails and one pepsi and the bill was $32. Needless to say we did not leave a tip.

My first impression was, "Crazy night in Seattle, let's recover with a good meal." My friend and I traveled for a 3-day stay in Seattle, Washington from Southern California. We wanted to make it spontaneous and ended up staying at a hostel for the couple of nights that we were there. We stumbled upon Copacabana Cafe when we looked up from Pike Place and saw people dining on the rooftop. It looked casual, comfortable, fun, and interesting so we found our way around the building and followed the signs up the stairs to the restaurant. It's a small restaurant, with a great view of the Pike Marketplace. It was an interesting night because we knew absolutely nothing about the items on the menu. But we actually met a group of friendly travelers from all over Spain and they picked out a couple items for us. I wish I remembered the name of each dish but one was a salad with some time of shredded beef on it and the other was like a fried veggie/meat/pasta combination that was sweet and tangy. I remembered the prices were decent for the food, but worth it for a sunset view of pike place. The lasting impression? "Small little restaurant. We ended up dining at the same table and that was the end of a good night. When a bunch of travelers got together, shared stories, and enjoyed a good meal!"

Well we were pretty disappointed. We wanted to grab a cocktail, appetizer and do some people watching. The people watching was the best part - great location for it. The food was not anything to write home about. We tried a Bolivian empanada which amounted to pasty beef stew in a deep fried dumpling and there are no well drinks available. Their cocktails are all $9 and they have a small selection. The reason I'm only giving two stars is the service which was pretty terrible. Our server acted like we were an inconvenience the entire time and brought our drinks and app quickly and then didn't talk to us again for 30 minutes. We had to ask the hostess for ice water. If you don't mind crappy service and selection but want to watch strange people walk by from the balcony - it's perfect. Otherwise I would recommend another place in the market.

It's extremely hard to fathom how the customer service was so terrible. The parking near this cafe is metered so its better to overestimate how much time you are going to spend here. My dish was served 15 minutes before my boyfriends dish. When we asked for the check, it took 10 minutes to get it, another 10 for them to come back for the credit card and on top of that 15 extra minutes to get the receipt and card back to sign. The waitress seemed more interested in filling up the ice bin than taking orders or bringing out check. 3 tables around us sat down and left because the service was so slow!!!! Not only did they not care, they were extremely unapologetic. I will not be back and not recommend this to anybody.

I would have to agree with most of the reviews on here about the service, or should I say wait time more like it. We were seated right away and the view was beautiful. We only had drinks because we just had eaten crab from the market below but the food I must say looked and smelled amazing. I would love to go back and try it some time. Everyone around us seemed like they were enjoying their food. If I was not so full I would have ordered something. My mojito was really good. Our only problem was when we wanted to leave we had to get up and track down our waitress because we had to get back to our car where the over priced parking was about to expire. Next time I'm in Seattle I will be back.

I've lived in Seattle all of my life and have never once had a mild curiosity to try this place. Nor have I ever had a recommendation from friends or family to try Copacabana. Let's see, watered down drinks, bland unexciting dishes and overly prices. Definitely taking advantage of an awesome location / view and high likelihood of market traffic for business. Would not recommend.

Oh Copacabana, you could be so so so much more. And so easily... You have THE best location in Seattle in my opinion. Great views of the water, mountains, sunset, looking over the pike place market, people watching, outdoor and indoor seating. But your food is so sub-par. Please invest the money to hire someone to look at your menu/ingredients/presentation. With a revamp of your menu and some new exciting, fresh, authentic dishes you could be the most desirable restaurant in Seattle. The food we had (chicken and lamb) was something anyone could throw together at home whether they are good cooks or not, whether they like to cook or not. There was no love or pride in the food. Oh, and your waitress needs to smile way more. We were there for dinner at 7:30, but we felt like we were making her stay to work after hours by the way she greeted us and took our order. Make your food exciting and delicious and teach your staff way more enthusiasm and you guys would be the place I take every single one of my out of town guests. Until those changes are made, you gave me absolutely no reason to return.

I give them credit for preparing fairly tasty beans with a minimum of seasoning. I was in the mood for something spicey, and was told that the ají de cordero was spicier than the pollo picante. The lamb had good flavor, but was in no way spicy. Paella was pleasant, but unremarkable, with rice two steps up from rice-a-roni and two steps down from really good paella. Very nice patio. We went after crowds were gone. Service was good. This area is packed with restaurants, you're tripping over excellent alternatives.

It says this place is a Bolivian restaurant...don't let them fool you, in case you might be looking for Bolivian food, this is definetly Not the place to go, the "Bolivian Food" by far is not what is served in that Country, in flavor and presentation. not at all! They should not miss lead on their ad for people to come to a Bolivian restaurant cause they will be very dissaponted.... -5 Stars!!!

Delicious food and perfect on a hot sunny day. You can sit up on the balcony area and look down at the market. It's great for people or scenery watching. Be prepared to sunbathe! I ordered some pork dish with hominy out of sheer ignorance. I've never really had South American cuisine, nor have I had hominy, but it sounded like fun. It was DELICIOUS. The meat and everything was perfectly spiced. I will definitely come here again.. and again....

This place has the best people watching viewpoint of any place in Pike Place. You will literally be looking down on the main walkway between the farmers market and the smaller shops that line the street. However the quality/taste of the food here leaves something to be desired. Service is friendly but know that you are paying for the awesome view when you come here.

we were very excited to find a "bolivian" restaurant. What a disappointment. The blandest lomita saltado I ever ate, even the salteñi was not that good.

The view- great place to sit in the sun & people watch & have a drink. Too bad I didn't try the pisco sour because that was supposed to be their specialty. Food- The menu selection wasn't good and too expensive for what they did have. Drinks- Had a mojito and it was very sucky. Yep, why bother I said to myself... Note- don't wear a dress because you'll be going up the stairs. And on sunny days they'll be a wait.

This place gets 3 stars for the food, but 5 stars for the people watching and location, so I'm giving it 4 stars overall. This is theoretically a Bolivian restaurant, but as many of the other reviews say, it has a somewhat pan-latin feel as well. The food is not disappointing, but not amazing either. You will likely enjoy whatever you get, but you could probably eat something tastier for less elsewhere. This place really shines in terms of location and people watching. It sits up on a balcony overlooking Pike Place market where you can see everything bustling around and enjoy the view not only of the market but also of the sound in the distance. Also, this place is a great respite from a day out in downtown Seattle. When I have friends or family come into town and we're doing touristy things in Pike Place all morning, it's great to be able to walk just away from the bustle and get a table to sit down at to relax and recharge while still feeling like you're out and about. It's not easy to find out how to get into this restaurant, which works to your advantage in terms of getting a seat, but you need to walk up Post Alley (the little alley that runs at an angle away from the main fruit and flower shops in the market) and then it will be on your left about half a block up.

It's not what you eat. It's where you eat. That should be the motto of Copacabana. The view is great- overlooking the hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market. The only comparable view is Pike Place Bar and Grill, although PPBG does not have a deck. The food is pretty average, although I only ordered appetizers. The real doozy were the drinks. $8 margaritas. $5 bottles. NO HAPPY HOUR! Well, if you want a cool view, decent food, and ridiculously priced booze than this is the place for you.

Went here on my birthday service was horrible and the food was bland. Considering where it is located I assumed it would impress but I was disappointed. I ordered a salad as well as beef dish and both had little flavor and not enough salt or pepper by any means.

One star for location; one star for breakfast. Thoroughly mediocre in almost every way, but they put cream in the scrambled eggs and they're cholesterol-icious! The potatoes were undercooked and bland. Average service - we sat five feet from the waitresses and weren't even offered a refill on our coffees.

Overall, food was ok. We ordered the pork stew which came with a side of rice and hominy. The pork was perfectly tender and was cooked in a tasty cilantro sauce. The black bean soup was good, but not a stand out dish. I like that it came with bread though. I wanted to try the saltenas but they were out. So they suggested I try the corn cake, which was not very good. It was basically a corn muffin with lots of sweet corn kernels. What I liked best was the location- right in the middle of Pike Place Market and you can watch the view below.

We saw this restaurant 5 months ago and at that time it was closed. Today we finally got a chance to try it... I did not went in with high expectations but more with the desire to enjoy authentic Bolivian food that I miss so much. (I'm Bolivian) Looks: it is a shame. The decoration is pathetic, lack of taste, originality, it is basically an empty ballroom where they stacked tables and did not make the effort to do anything else. Presentation: I should have raised a red flag the second they brought food in plastic plates. For a restaurant located so close to pike market and with prices averaging 15 dollars for an entree..... It is really shameful. Service: the restaurant was not full and still the waitress took 15 minutes to show at the table ( table we had to find on our own since there was no host at all). The waitress was friendly but she did not know the menu that well plus she did not really made an effort of explaining the choices the restaurant offers ( now I understand that there was no choice at all, so that is a point for her) Food: I understand that some bolivian ingredients are hard to get in the USA and I am pretty open to innovation and new flavors..... But this was ridiculous. I do not think I have been in a worse tasting restaurant here in Seattle nor in Bolivia. tHE FOOD IS NOT BOLIVIAN FOOD, it just has been advertised as it would be. They call limo Salgado to beef fajitas!!!,! The ceviche is made out of canned bacalao!!! Just horrible! they do not had salts as as they advertise nor pacena beer.... Summarizing: this is a restaurant that gives Bolivian food a bad reputation, the only Bolivian thing I could perceive there was the super quiet music..... Do yourself a favor and take your money somewhere else, it is not worth it at all.....

4 Stars for the Food!! Well, 4 stars for the entree... Upon arrival to say that I've been excited to come to the Copa would be an understatement (the name alone sets high expectations). Let me give some frame of reference, it was one of the first bright sunny days this spring, and on top of that it was a Saturday... Walking up through the Post Alley to the entrance I was thinking it might be bad timing to think we could just grab a seat, but luckily and I mean LUCKILY, it didn't take more then a minute to be seated. Once seated I must say that the views do definitely add to those 4 stars. After reviewing the menu the one thing that jumped out was the Paella. Apparently there was no hurry on getting our order, but once in it did come out quickly. Amazing how the conversation ended once the food showed, I have to say I'm not a huge Paella connoisseur but I have had it a few times, and there has been nothing that compares. PROS- -The Paella -View CONS- -Service -Service -Drink selection -Oh yeah Service (friendliness and attentiveness) OK harsh I know, but I hope this was because it was one of the first busy days of the year.

Only reviewing for atmosphere. Great location great patio. Very small selection of beer and cocktails but on a sunny day its the perfect spot to people watch.

After meat over dose, we decided to hike up the hill to the market. I wanted a beer... Or something wet and refreshing... We had Mojito's!! With a side of people watching! It was great! I will go back! There is no better spot to people watch and drink hand crafted Mojito's!

With a name like Copacabana Bolivian Cafe , you would expect something... what is it.. oh yes. Food from Latin America. During an early morning trek around Pike Place one final time during our trip we scoured a place attempting to find a restaurant for breakfast that would not involve pancakes and scrambled eggs, and what a mistake it was for us to think that Bolivian food could have been mistaken for a bad Denny's. When we arrived there was only one other group of people there, a family of four that seemed quite comfortable. It was so deserted that we felt obligated to stay when the waiters/owners spotted and seated us. The food was mediocre (and overpriced for what it was)- hard scrambled eggs with a scraggly piece of bacon, and the service was bad - which seemed interesting since the place was so dead and there were 6 of them standing less than two feet away from us in this awkwardly shaped room. And yet we were still met wiih bad service. The terrace would have been a nice option - had they let us sit out there. But they didn't. And the food would have been more impressive if the containers of mass-purchased cinnamon rolls from Costco weren't sitting out next to me (which they reheated and claimed were "homemade").

Not "bad", just "blah". You'd think with a South American menu the food would be rich, flavourful and enticing. Strike one, strike two and steeerike three - you're outta there. The view is great, though.

Went here without looking at the menu because we noticed the outside seating. We weren't in the mood for any of the heavier entrees, so we got two salads - I got the mariscos, the shrimp salad. It was pretty good and definitely hit the spot on a summer day. The house special sangria was alright - tasted more like wine than fruity, which was okay, I guess. Seemed a little expensive, but it was a nice rest at Pike Place.

5 star view, 3 star food, 2 star service... I love playing pretend tourist in Seattle. It reminds me why I love this city. I'll tell you though, I think that people visiting Seattle might get the wrong impression if they only go to tourist restaurants like Copacabana. The menu was interesting and had a good selection of both meaty dishes as well as vegie food, but when it finally arrives to your table, it's a bit of a let down. The ingredients of my salad weren't exactly what was listed on the menu...and the amount of steak in it was a bit shy. The cheezy corn bread stuff was awesome, but way too greasey to eat an entire order of it. The service was super slow (15 minutes to get water and sangria) and the server wasn't really into helping us. I don't plan on going back, but on a beautiful day, I might make the same mistake twice.

I needed a place to hide from the crowds during the Seattle Cheese Festival & wanted to capture lots of shots from my DSLR camera from a high point! I chose the Lunch Special - Soup, Salad & Bread. Good Fresh Salad w/ oil vinegar dressing and The Tortilla Soup was satisfying. It was nice to just sit back & People watch. So all in all.. it was $10 including tip! Nice Balcony view from up above the hustle & bustle of Pike Place..Priceless! I guess this review doesn't do justice but I just wanted a Good view for my Camera haha! :D I will have to come back just for the food!!

first I was totally glad to find a "Bolivian" restaurant here. So I run into it looking some home goodness...All personnel is mexican (doh!) and only the owners are from La Paz (my hometown). Of course they were not there. I inspect the menu and found what I expected: SALTEÑAS. Oh how joyful I was to read that. For me this is a unique snack. So I ordered 2 to go. The disappointing part was to read a mix of peruvian, and other latino dishes. WTH????? we have such a large variety of dishes and they decided to include peruvian Aji de gallina??? Where is a Chairo? a Chicharron? a Plato Paceño????? Anyhow. The salteñas turned out to be ok. If you do come to Bolivia, make sure to try them...you'll order more than 2.

This place was great! Not sure why the reviews were so bad, maybe they improved service, food, decor? I was into it! Food great, service great and a wonderful sunny view. Id come back for casual eat/drink for sure.

Well we sat down and it looked like it might be more than 5 minutes for someone to even come to our table to take our order. We left especially after seeing the service issue on Yelp while waiting for service.
