I didn't expect much from a tofu sandwich (a "banh mi?"), but it was actually awesome. My brother had the pork loin sandwich and said, "pretty good," which rarely comes out of his picky mouth. I would've appreciated it if they had mentioned that there was cilantro and jalapeños in the sandwich (it wasn't on the menu), but I was able to easily pick those out.

Decided to skip bikram yoga on this rainy day and what better way to spend the late afternoon than to find an awesome little food joint only a couple of blocks away. I grab the little dog, head for a walk and find myself at Baguette Box! Had the chorizzo baguette which had grilled red onions and peppers with cilantro and sweet and sour soup. The baguette was fresh chewy and crispy at the same time. It was pretty long too. Around six bucks too. Soup was so so. The mushrooms seemed crispy. what?!? But it was cold and dreary so I slurped the whole thing down. I plan on going back to try the other fave sandwhiches they carry. I hear the fries are good too but anyone can buy a bottle of truffle oil and sprinkle that oil all over your mcdonald fries... And of course, this place isn't as awesome as Salumi... I'm slowly acclimating to Seattle...one cheapy foodie joint at a time...

I never knew it was possible to chug a sandwich. This delicious concoction came to my table; drunken crispy chicken with carmelized onions on a crispy/chewy baguette. I picked it up and started eating and realized that I was almost already halfway finished in just a few bits and hadn't even put it back on the plate yet.. So I had to summon all of my zen-like power so that I could savor this awesome lunch. "Back away from the sandwich" was my mantra. Amazing sandwiches, nice atmosphere, extremely friendly staff. Folks we have a winnah!

They no longer make the Salumi Sandwich. It was the best item on the menu, besides the truffle fries (which I'm glad they still have, even though they are expensive at $5.00 for a cup of fries). It was the only reason I would walk all the way down there on my lunch break, scarf it down and run back to work so I wouldn't be late...but it was worth it. Now, I am looking for a cheaper more convenient sandwich place closer to work. The other sandwiches cost about $7-8 and they are good to above average in taste. Despite the fact that it is not worth the walk there, it is still a nice little place with a comfortable ambiance to stop by for lunch if you have the time. Average spending would be near $12-15 if you get a sandwich & fries.

The red wine braised pork baguette is delicious. The fries are hit or miss and the truffle oil is not worth another $2. The blue cheese green beans are great. The meats are generally very tender and well-seasoned. The apricot aioli is great; ask for some with your fries.

Whenever I walk buy this place around Noon it's always packed. So I decided to give it a try. I had the Drunken Chicken sandwich, and I have to say I was impressed. Pretty decent size sandwich and it tasted great! Will definitely come back.

Totally overrated. They're bahn mi -- except the bread isn't nearly as crusty, the staff are over 50% composed of pretentious douchebags, and they lie about being out of truffle fries. LIE. Oh, and the sandwiches cost like 3X as much as a good banh mi.

I kept hearing and reading about how delicious the pork belly baguette is, and it made my mouth water in anticipation. Turns out, it's totally overrated. I thought it was pricey for what I got, and it's disappointing that everything is a la carte. For $8.50, I expect more than just a sandwich.. maybe a small portion of fries or a small salad would be nice. Anyway, the bread wasn't toasted, and the sandwich was way over-hoisin'ed and shockingly spicy. I was also disappointed that there were barely any veggies (some paper-thin slices of cucumber coated in mayo). The person I went with and I switched halfway through because I didn't want mine anymore. I tried his lemongrass steak sandwich, which was better. The beef was cooked perfectly medium-rare, but the marinade was so salty and again it did not have enough veggies. We also got an order of truffle fries, which I enjoyed the most but expected a larger portion for $4.50. My friend had the drunken chicken sandwich, and it reminded me of something from Panda Express... but in a good way... you know, during the times when you just crave fake Chinese food, drunken chicken would hit the spot. I understand the concept of this restaurant and it is really cute and casual, but I'm just not impressed by the execution.

If you don't want to wait/deal with the Paseo wait, this is the best sandwich in the city. I'll have the Drunken Chicken Cash Register Operator: $8.19 please Oh, and fires CRO: Ok, $10.19 I pay Oh, yeah, I wanted truffle fries, I didn't know you could order them with out CRO: Uh, ok, (much button pushing), $2.19. I get the same thing every time, so you'd think I could do better, but oh well. Super good.

You want to know what a Baguette Box sandwich tastes like? Take a loaf of not-so-fresh french bread, squirt a thin strip of some not-terrible tasting filling down the middle, and go to town. There - I just saved you $7.

Truffle Fries. Yes... That's right people. These potatoey heavenly goodness are DEEP FRIED in TRUFFLE OIL. If you use ketchup you'll ruin them. They eat themselves. The eggplant sandwich is DELISH, I love the soft nature of all the vegetables that they used in a crunchy bagette. I'm still reveling in the fries... I may have to get another order every day.

So I've been here twice and I'm not sure how I exactly feel about this place. Yes it's nice and different from the traditional Banh Mi I'm used to when I was living in socal, but at times I think it's not quite there yet. Or maybe I'm just jaded or anal retentive... who knows. Fries: redeeming part of the meal (except they ran out of fries the second time I was there... how can you run out of fries? cut some more!) Crispy drunken chicken: good sauce but came out too soggy for me... so I guess it shouldn't have been called Crispy drunken chicken, more like soggy drunken chicken? the combination of flavor was good though, I'll give the place that. Pork belly hoisin sandwich: the meat was good (i mean really, how can you go wrong with fat and pork on a sandwich with more fat than there is pork? well i guess you can) ... well what do you know I got sidetracked, so the pork belly and the combo of the hoisin sauce was tasty... my only gripe about the sandwich is not even pork belly and also my last 2 bites were all fat no pork. I think overall the food probably deserve a 3 or possibly more if it can work out the few kinks... It also helps that they get some REALLY GOOD baguettes from Panera ... which is also the second redeeming factor (after the fries... unless of course they run out of fries and your are SOL).

Several previous visits have established their sandwiches as my favorite in the city. Creative and delicious. But yesterday something had changed. The sandwiches, although still tasty (we had pork in red wine and the eggplant/feta) were excessively greasy, literally dripping. In addition, the tables were dirty - ours had a long hair on it, there were no clean glasses for water, and the lemonade tasted old and a little fetid It was disappointing to see our favorite sandwich joint seemingly on the decline.

Great rolls, great ingredients, must try the truffle fries!

So the hype got me in the door three times but I don't think I'll be going back. First time around I had the Salumi special. It wasn't bad but very unmemorable. The next two visits I had the Drunken Chicken, so I can say with confidence that this baby is WAY too salty. Also, they need to ease up on the cilantro. It's a strong herb and leaves a soapy residue. I want a sandwich not a box of Tide. My girlfriend ordered the chorizo sandwich. All I can say is: Slim Jim in a baguette. Very unappetizing. I will give BB +1 star for originality.

  • Jason A.

Very nice! Drunken chicken; I agree with Sheila Y (as I almost always do), the chicken in my sandwich was quite moist. Still, breaded meat in bread...not my favorite. Salumi sandwich: what a great idea; essentially a standard bahn mi (cilantro, pickled daikon and carrot) + tomato + salumi's finnochiona salami. A great pork sandwhich! Lamb with yogurt: excellent, tender, yogurt not overpowering, the lamb flavor shining through truffle oil fries: very nice, crispy, not quite enough sea salt, skins on, the waft of truffles going to the nose! beet salad: very nice, excellent beets, olive oil, pepper, salt. great. overall, very nice, solid four. Will be back.

You had me at Local Drunken Chicken! What a fantastic bah mi sandwich place and the employees are really friendly! Service is quite quick and don't forget to get some of those truffle fries; it'll bring tears to your eyes as you continue pigging out on those huge drunken chicken pieces!

I'm Vietnamese. I like Vietnamese sandwiches. I don't like this place. It's a little too artsy-frou-frou for it's own good. The food is not supposed to be complicated. A Vietnamese sandwich is one of the simplest things you can make, and they over complicate things. The lack of real soda (Cricket Kola is disgusting), fancy stuff on the menu, etc are not worth it. So why does it get 1 star? Maybe I should have given it 3, or maybe 2? Because the one and only time I ate there (I had the cured meat sandwich), I got violently ill that night, and was out of comission for 2 days after. 100% case of food poisoning. WILL NOT BE EATING HERE AGAIN

  • Melissa K.

Did someone say truffle french fries? ummmm . . .hell yeah they did and that is why I ventured over to the BB for a weekday lunch. The service: eh (but we are talking about Capitol Hill so what can we really expect?). The sandwich: good, interesting combinations of ingredients. But yes a little pricey, but I'm not about to go out and make the damn thing myself!! But let us return to what's really important: the fries. Oh my oh my, they are delicious. When one accidentally fell on the table and the waiter took it away . . . I almost cried . . .but I didn't because you can't let hipsters see that you are weak. Anyway, the fries are incredible and worth the almost $5.00 to savor them.

Ordered 4 steak sandwiches to go. Fast and friendly service. The food was cooked to order and prepared in front of us. The hoisen sauce is delicious as was the steak, pickled daikon (sp), and carrot. Going back to try the leg of lamb asap

Yum, Baguette Box is the perfect place for someone like me who says "To hell with your fancy cooked food, give me a sandwich!" Which isn't to say the sandwiches here aren't fancy, because some of them rather are. This is a fun, quick place to go when you're hungry but not looking for the commitment of a sit down restaurant. There are plenty of tables and nice, large windows in the front which make for great people watching. My only complaints are that the food is a little more expensive than I want it to be and the tofu sandwich is rather salty, but apparently that's how the do it in ye ol' France.

  • Kris S.

A very hipster little place. Unique menu with some fresh ingredients mixed with marinated meats on baguettes. Not much you can complain about although you want to get the right thing here. I would definitely say the my review depends on the item. The lemongrass steak is my favorite so far. You also might want to try the truffle salt fries.

  • F H.

My boyfriend and I love this place. We always order their hot sandwiches, so keep in mind that this is what the review is based upon. The drunken chicken sandwich is my favorite... It's really to die for. The lemongrass steak and the pork belly are super good, too. Ambiance is a little so-so, but the place is clean and the people behind the counter are always friendly . It ALWAYS cold inside, so bring a sweater!

I love salad nicoise. I believe my review on Cafe Campagne revolves entirely around their salad nicoise--and how excellent it is. I didn't really know what to expect of the salad nicoise from a sandwich place with a painted dog decor (I actually really enjoyed the space). What was delivered to my table, however, was excellent. The white wine vinegarette was perfect--tangy, a little heady, just enough oil, and applied discriminately to the greens and potatoes. The tuna sald was fresh, not overly saturated with olive oil, and had peculiar little pickle slices (tiny) that added an unexpected but pleasant crunch to the salad. The potatoes were perfectly cooked--standing up to the fork, but not ovely hard. The egg slices were an excellent size as well--something that many restaurants overlook. Because yolk crumbles, you want an egg slice that is small enough that it can be eaten in one speared bite. The eggs in this salad were exactly the right size. My aunt had the tofu sandwich, which she greatly enjoyed, but I was too focused on my new love affair to really pay her meal any attention. Will definitely head up the hill again to this spot.

I would give this a 3.5 if I could. The truffle fries were amazing, the sandwiches, eh. I ordered the drunken chicken sandwich, and my boyfriend ordered the pork belly. They both had amazing textures. However, the drunken chicken wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be, a bit bland, but the crunch was good. My boyfriend really liked the pork belly.I definitely want to try this place again for the other sandwiches. And the truffle fries!

  • Julian H.

Too cafeteria for me: brown plastic cups, indifferent staff, no table service, bad seating. The sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients and some inspiration. The truffle oil french fries are to die for. But the seating area is tiny and the service and atmosphere are nothing special. Terrible for groups! Other customers spread their food and newspapers all over the lone communal table, eliminating any hope of seating a group of more than two. There is only one other tiny table big enough for four. Count on waiting cause this place gets busy. Any sandwich with meat from Salumi is awesome and I like the Thai iced tea even though it's dispensed from a plastic beverage dispenser tank like in a (you guessed it) cafeteria. The sandwiches are light on the fillings and the bread can be too hard (not pleasantly crusty, the way it's supposed to be, but jaw-bone-breaking hard).

Seems this place has some good reviews already in Seattle. So, this is for all you Bay Area folks -- I know there are at least 2 of you, er, maybe one that reads my reviews! Anyway, this place is dope, great lunch option in Capitol Hill area of Seattle. They have a steady line-up of sandwiches served on super fresh baguettes and some daily specials...like the wine braised pork sandwich w/ cilantro and pickled onions that I had today -- YUM.

  • Trevin C.

This place is really hit or miss depending on what you order and how busy it is. First, the service is REALLY slow. Despite it being nearly empty, it took about 20 mins to get 4 sandwiches and they all came out at different times. Secondly, if you order the wrong thing, you'll regret eating and really want a "food mulligan" as my sister likes to say. I highly recommend the "Crispy Drunk Chicken Sandwich" or salad version of it. It's so freakin' tasty. The lemongrass beef or the pork apricot sandwiches were just "meh". If you're in the Fremont area, I think that Paseo whoops Baguette Box's butt, but if you're in a pinch and either can't walk 5 mins up the hill or Paseo is closed, this is a good second choice.

Upgrading to five stars since I go here about once a week. I love that drunkin' chicken sandwich...definitely one of my standby joints.

Dear Baguette Box, You make the oh-so delicious sandwiches, but I would really prefer if my drunken chicken was fully cooked and not raw and bloody inside. Respectfully submitted, Marta

  • Jonathan A.

I have been to Baguette Box four or five times now. I have to admit that the crispy drunken chicken is a great sandwich. My first visit deserved a 4 or 5 star rating, but the last 3 visits have only declined in experience. The other sandwiches on the menu have been good, but I have hardly any time to enjoy them. The employees move at a slugs pace, and they seem to be under staffed. When I get a sandwich, I expect to have received it and finished it within a 30 minute span. I'm not sitting down for a gourmet dining experience. I honestly thought they forgot about my order on my last two visits. They took close to an hour, and there were maybe 6 other people there. So it wasn't busy by any means. Seems to be poorly managed, which unfortunately overshadows the quality of the sandwiches.

This place is face melting good. Highly reco the Lemongrass Steak, and some truffle oil fries. Possibly a bit spendy for some peoples taste, but wow is it amazing.

  • Ashley F.

Ok quality for the price. It was a hot, hot day with no AC, and the polite girl at the counter was helpful if slow. I got the braised Tofu sandwich and fries, while my friend got the drunken chicken. Small bits of tofu and avocado were outweighed by miles of baguette, and the fries were burnt and too greasy. The flavor was nice, though the overall experience left me wanting. I wished that I had paid $3-$4 for my food instead of close to $10 after tip. Oh well - better lunch next time

  • Kate D.

Baguettes? Really, if you are going to name your business 'Baguette Box', you really should try to make sure you have baguettes to make your sandwiches. I have been there several times, and they have been out of the staple baguette. I am always offered a salad, soup or fries. I came to have a sandwich, and the others just won't do. I have come to the conclusion I won't waste my time hoping they will have prepared and are supplied with baguettes.

  • Brent F.

Hmmm, reading the other reviews on here, I'm guessing I got lucky or went on a good day. My friends and I liked this place. If we have one criticism, its that the bread overpowers some of the fillings. They could do with less bread, or more filling! I had the grilled lamb sandwich and it was tasty (it also helped that I was starving having only had some coffee and oatmeal about 6 hours earlier). The sauce was good, and the thai iced tea was also sweet and fresh. A good spot for lunch without a lot of pretense. I hope the other reviews were just there on off times. A good sandwich places is always a gift. Wish we had a place like this in Portland... I would go there regularly!

Great tofu (banh mi) sandwich. I do have to say that you could get a similar sandwich in the ID for $2 (versus $4), but Cap Hill is closer. FYI, Baguette Box has opened another shop in Fremont. The tuna salad is also good, but they need to add more of it to the sandwich, so the bread doesn't dominate so much. Good fries too.

    (4)
  • Elana K.

Good thing I like the braised tofu sandwich. I've gone to Baguette Box 7-8 times over the past year, and almost every time I've tried to order the serrano ham sandwich or the roasted beet salad, and they've always been out. I really, really want to try both, and I have to admit that I haven't inquired further as to why those items seem to be in short supply. I'm always happy to get the tofu sandwich though- it's delicious with it's creamy sauce and daikon radish. Yum. Not super crazy for the drunken chicken though- I only had it once and the meat was way too chewy for my taste.

I noticed some people are rating this place as a "Vietnamese Sandwich shop" but I am not going to rate this place as Vietnamese sandwich shop. Yes, it is very much influenced by Vietnamese sandwich but I think Baguette Box uses the influence to create their own unique food. And, I believe they are extremely successful at it. All of their meat sandwiches are amazing. I think it's ingenious to use Vietnamese sandwich to incorporate other gourmet ingridients into the baguettes. Deep friend sweet and sour chicken in a baguette, COME ON! You know that's gonna be good! Lemongrass Skirt steak in a baguette? Can't go wrong there either. It's definitely a place where you can taste creativity. Service can be a little bit slow during busy time, but people are pretty nice there. Lunch times are quite busy. I suggest getting there before 12PM for lunch. It's definitely a must try.

  • Ryan A.

We have ate at Baguetted Box about 6 ot 7 times now, and they never fail to impress. Although they will occasionally be out of a particular menu item, there are plenty of good choices available. We particularly like Braised Tofu sandwich, as well as both pork sandwich offerings. The Truffle Fries are outstanding , although they have been out of truffle oil on at least two occasions. Overall, the service has always been friendly and relatively fast given how busy they often are. Seating is limited, and at the busiest of times it may be difficult to get a seat. Perhaps a 4 overall, but earns a 5 since you can have a great meal for under $5.

Can't get thr truffle fries out of my mind. Nice sandwiches. Awesome bites and good location. Hung out with my cousin while visiting him here. A must stop if you are in town or a local.

Sometimes all you need in life is a coconut braised tofu sandwich, some truffle fries, and a hoegaarden. Sometimes the sandwiches are a little worse than usual, but most of the time this place is pretty solid.

  • Lisa B.

Yummy yummy hot sandwiches! We're hooked on Paseo, but Baguette Box seems to have a bit more of an asian fusion - a little extra tang, a little extra sweetness. Pork belly with cucumbers and wine braised pork get me every time. The atmosphere is easy, walk-up counter style, a bit like a deli, but they also serve beer and wine. It's just a good place to pop in for a above-average bite for around $10.

    (4)
  • Kyle L.

Salumi special is always the way to go. I don't recommend springing for the truffle fries, which can either be a bit overpowering or leave you asking what happened to the truffles. Save that extra money and put it towards one of the cold beers they offer.

Okay, so I read a few reviews about Baguette Box and thought, hey it sounds decent and it's close to work, I'll give em a try. So, I walk in at about 12:30pm, no line and only a few customers eating in and two people waiting on to-go orders. I walk up to the girl at the counter ready to give my order, and she says she'll be with me in a moment. No problem. I normally a pretty patient person, especially if I can see the person/business is really busy, which it wasn't. Counter girl calls out a name for one of the to-go orders, guy comes up and pays for his food, and leaves. Again I'm ready to give my order and again counter girl tells me it will be just a moment. So, I stand there for a couple more minutes while she is just doing prep work, and finally I decided to just walk down to PCC and get something. If the customers are that unimportant to the staff, they don't deserve my business. Given the prices--$8+ for a sandwich, I doubt I will give them a second chance. Me thinks you'd be better off trying somewhere else.

  • Edwin W.

I've had some mixed experiences. On my first visit, I ordered the braised pork belly, which had Vietnamese flavors. Quite tasty, nice flavors, and the meat was tender, without being too greasy. My subsequent visits have been less than great. The most obvious observation I had was the sandwiches just lacked ingredients. The sandwiches were skimpy on the main ingredients most of all, and you get mostly bread. The chorizo sandwich was tantamount to a fancy hot dog. The vegetarian sandwich with eggplant as the main ingredient was bland. I haven't had the truffle fries which are supposed to be good. There are some other reviews criticizing price. For what you end up getting, the sandwiches are a bit steep.

  • Naoko S.

My new favorite is the Salmon! They cook the salmon there. I like the yummy paste/sauce too. Very happy combination. Half of the time I have to get them fries..tho it gets pricey and adds 50% of my daily fat intake, they are good.. And the place looks a lot better now. It actually feels good to be there. Though the pictures on the wall not lining up mildly bugs me... that doesn't change the taste of the sandwich. Baguette Box's baguette's texture, size, etc. seem or feel different each time. It's not bad but I think it's preventing me from being in love with them.

  • Joe P.

good sandwiches, but i actually think the baguettes they use are a bit tough.

    (3)
  • Carri M.

I tried the drunken chicken, braised pork and truffle fries. The only negative I can speak of was the greasiness of the braised pork - and I love greasy food, this was just too greasy. If they would just the meat drain a bit before serving, it would be great. All the sandwiches on the board looked wonderful, unique and promising. I would definitely go back if I had the chance. Truffle fries are a must!!!!!

So for some reason it seems like every place I go to for a long while starts going to hell or something like that. I just don't feel that it's that great anymore. The food is still good, but not as great as when it first opened. Maybe it's me, but it's just not the same anymore. I think my taste buds have loss some of it's abilities, but I wish I could re experience my first bite again. Maybe I miss the guy that use to work there with all the tattoos-he was hot. Enough with that- now to the food, I really like the truffle fries-who doesn't, and the drunken chicken. You can't go wrong with the drunken chicken. I think out of all the sandwiches I like the veggie one with the tofu the most, something about it, maybe it's the cilantro? I don't know, it hits that sweet spot. I

I had the pork shoulder with pickled onions/daikon/cilantro. It was good, but greasy (I know pork, especially shoulder, is greasy in general, but this could have really used a drain or pat down). I don't know, it was missing something. For some reason, I expected more - it just didn't wow me.

  • Koshka C.

I really like this place and enjoy their sandwiches. The menu is sweet&short; the selection is enough to satisfy either a meat-lover or a vegetarian, the ingredients are fresh, vibrant, flavors are delectable and this is only a short description of what makes me come back. I like going there closer to the evening when there are less people and you can sit at one of their cozy tables and enjoy your sandwich and fries while looking at the adorable pictures of dogs! I think their decor is unique, appealing and cozy at the same time. A lot of people say that the price isn't fair or it is too much, but fresh, good-tasting food costs money and even though it is "just a sandwich", this is an art of sandwich. Egg-salad sandwich from a deli is like a reproduction of this art, hence you pay less money, but maybe just that gets your hunger satisfied. Anybody who appreciates bursting flavors and good bread, and sandwiches should visit Baguette Box.

  • J K.

In my humble opinion, some of the best sandwiches in Seattle. Interesting ingredients. Fresh baguettes -- chewy yet light. And the fries are to die for! The service can be slow when there's a crowd. But you get what you wait for.

  • James P.

This place has a nice selection of interesting sandwiches. I've had the crispy drunken chicken, the pork loin with apricot aioli, and the fries. The fries are not super truffley but are really pretty good. It should be pointed out that this is not a place to bring a group. Seating is extremely limited and I've often had to stand when there were only two of us. One final note, if you want Salumi salami, go to Salumi. This place is wonderful but their "Salumi" sandwich has about a third the meat that the real thing hits you with.

Came here after seeing Stella at TenPachi today. +1 for the nice location: a little nook beside Peet's Coffee. +1 for the cute doggy pictures for their theme decor +1 for requesting more doggie photos from customers +1 for the healthy variety +1 for the perfect portions that do no leave you feeling like a J. Wellington Wimpy +1 for friendliness +1 for cleanliness +1 for bringing my pork loin sandwich to me, while I did not expect table-side service. So why can't I give this joint 8-stars?

Okay, so I'm vegetarian and this place pretty much has two options: The coconut tofu sandwich and the fries (well, I think there there salads but I've never had them). Lemme tell you, unless you're some kind of vegetarian freak who hates flavor-drenched, greasy, fried hunks of tofu, one sandwich option is all you need. I don't know how he (the owner/cook whose name I forget) does it, but this is really, really yummy tofu. The sandwich also has pickled jicama (or it could be radish), carrots, cilantro, and aoili, all on a fresh baguette. It's so good! I think I'll go there for lunch today, actually. The fries are also really tasty. Very authentic, thick and flavorful. I really don't like mushrooms, or specifically very mushroomy-flavored things, so I don't care for the truffle fries. But according to everyone else I know who's had them, they're delicious. One thing that puts this place over the top is the owner. He's really friendly and *really* cares about the food he serves. With very little prompting he will tell you all about the food you're about to eat. From some people that could be annoying, but from him I just want to listen all day about where he learned the special technique to cook the fries just so, or how he developed the marinade for the tofu. He's awesome. As far as the other sandwiches, I took a group of coworkers here, fingers-crossed that the meat stuff would be good. They were all extremely satisfied! Oh, and all the wacky dog paintings are great. Update: Okay, I did go there for lunch today and they have another veggie sandwich--grilled eggplant and zucchini. I just always ignored it because I don't like eggplant. And I forgot to mention that their potato salad is tasty.

Stopped in for lunch and had the grilled eggplant sandwich. It was fine. They have other stuff that might be tastier, but as a vegetarian I'll never know.

I didn't think this place was special at all. 4 of us (2 were kids) ordered and it took forever. The kids thought it was just ok. Both of their sandwiches were slathered in onions. (Duh- kids don't like onions, which I mentioned to the guy when I ordered it.) I had the tofu sandwich. The tofu was deep fried and was more like shells of tofu from the over frying and then the refrigerating and heating back up process. Sure the bread is good. It's white french bread. We all agreed that for half the price we could go to a Vietnamese sandwich place for a quicker, cheaper, better meal. Seriously. Never going back. Also, it consists of 2 large 8-top tables and some bar-type seating at the window. I have two little boys (well behaved, but still boys) and it would have been nicer for everyone involved if we could have just had our own table.

I've been here a few times now, tried different sandwiches, and I've got to say they've all been consistently awesome. Good quality ingredients, and unique--they're not like stuff I've tried at other places. Prices are fair, and service is friendly. I'm sold.

I read about Baguette Box in Bon Appetit and had to stop by for lunch during a visit to Seattle. As everyone else has said, the tofu and avocado sandwich is amazing. It's huge and I couldn't help but eat the entire thing. My fiance had the drunken chicken sandwich that was excellent as well! I could see how it could get expensive as an everyday thing, but it was a great treat for us.

Creative but not best I have ever had. I loved that uniqueness of this independent restaurant. If you are in the area for lunch you must give this restaurant a try.

There seems to be two camps when it comes to the Baguette Box. There are those who think the sandwiches and truffle fries are the second coming of whomever it is you kids are worshiping these days, and there are those who think the sandwiches and truffle fries are completely overrated. I think I fall somewhere in the middle, as I can appreciate the Baguette Box's unique menu offerings, but I'm not so much a fan of hot sandwiches, which is pretty much all they serve. I knew that going in, yet I still wanted to try the Crispy Drunken Chicken. I just HAD to see what all the fuss was about. My sandwich was just OK. It was like eating sweet and sour chicken on crispy, chewy bread, which was an odd pairing, the juxtaposition of Asian and French cuisines. The baguette itself was delightful, and it held up against sogginess on our way to Bumbershoot, which was a nice bonus. Though, I did not enjoy the mess of saucy onions, most of which ended up outside the sandwich. My husband had the Roast Leg of Lamb sandwich, which he said was just alright, too. Granted, he's not easily impressed, but he's never met a hot sandwich he didn't love, and this one didn't excite him much. Overall, he gave the sandwich a shoulder shrug, which is actually code for: eh. On the other hand, however, the truffle fries were really good, though for the sake of being picky, I would've liked just a few more at nearly $5 a pop. But it's a smart upsell item, for sure, as we couldn't pass them up. We also experienced amiable service from the cashier, despite our being there on a holiday. He was surprisingly pleasant, and we got our food relatively fast. The Baguette Box is not your typical cold cuts deli. Perhaps the great divide between those who love the place and those who hate it is just a matter of personal preference. For me, it's not quite worth the trek for something I'm just not a fan of to begin with.

This place has the best Organic braised tofu and avocado sub, EVER! Friendly service, decent price, and delicious food. Fries are also great. Definite must if you're craving a sub.

I crave the truffle fries here on a daily basis. They are dangerous! I love the Drunken Chicken, Pork Loin, Pork Belly sandwiches. Awesome place for lunch if your on Capitol Hill.

3.5 rounding up to 4 thanks to service and crowd. Came here on a Thursday at about 2pm with two friends and we got the last chair in the restaurant! The place was packed with people that looked like college students... not the kind that takes up a whole table with a laptop & refuses to lend you their "spare" chair, but the kind that you'll engage in good discussion over baguette & beer. Cool crowd. The place is small (seats about 15 ppl) and it reminds me more of a converted art studio rather than a sit down restaurant. We were greeted immediately and nicely by the girl behind the counter, who also happened to bring the food to us after we ordered them. Found out that she is on the article posted in front of the counter. Kudos to her since she was the only person working besides the chef taking orders and bringing food to the tables. Had the crispy tofu baguette on a suggestion from a friend for $4.95+$0.85(avocado extra)... which was tasty but it basically reminded me more of a Vietnamese sandwich minus the meat. We shared truffle fries which was really crispy and definitely had a different 'kick' to it than regular fries. It's hard to justify $4.80 though for about 20 pieces of fries. Homemade thai ice tea is neat with a dispenser located to the side. Not a bad place to go if you're in the mood for a light lunch. I'll try the drunken chicken next time. Food: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 3.5/5

Good sandwiches featuring pork -the meat of magic- and beef. Preparations are flavorful and considered, albeit consistently oily. A couple of vegetarian options as well as cold salads. Not inexpensive, but not cheap. When you taste the fresh-baked baguette you may forget all your nagging concerns, as I did.

this time they just completely forgot my order. brought my buddy his and ran off before I could even ask where mine was. no surprise or apology when I finally got their attention. come on dudes. I would go here about 4 times as often if I knew I could rely on getting what I ordered (sans garbage.)

Sammiches are good. Baguette Box sammiches are heaven between bread. The selections for carnivores are delicious and creative. Some of you may be aware of my fondness for pork-a-licious good eats, and Baguette Box's offerings are really top shelf: the pulled pork is a sloppy bit of piggy yumminess, and the sliced roasted pork is tender and lovely. Both show a great play of sweet/savory. I've tried several of the other options, all of which are superior. The truffle fries can be a bit greasy - but hey! They're truffle fries! Much like nookie, even when they are substandard, they are still good. Special bonus for dog geeks like me: the walls/counter are filled with pics of adorable canines (belonging to staff & loyal customers, presumably).

truffle fries - too oily and the truffle oil didn't taste like what I am used too the vietnamese fusion sandwich -.. enough said.. vietnamese fusion... over it, and over the fact that it was 8 dollars and did not exude the essense of a great banh mi in a baguette ambiance - very cool, and something to experience if you are wanting to spend over 15 dollars on vietnamese fusion food.... over it, and sad that I was so excited to try it

The crispy tofu sandwich is delicious (daikon carrots, garlic aioli, it's my favorite). The bread is not always fresh, they seem to run out of avocado frequently, and I wonder about the cleanliness of the staff...

So, one day I was supposed to go to a comic convention. But, I accidently got too drunk to go. So, there I was stuck, drunk on a Sunday afternoon. So, I stumbled to the Baguette Box and had a pork loin sandwich. Which was delightful. Then, I looked up at the menu and decided that I wanted a Drunken Chicken Sandwich. So I bought one of those too, and ate it. Also delightful. Then I went home and passed out. Oh, and the Baguette Box is the place that taught me that I like beets. Their beet salad is excellent.

Excellent for a fresh creative sandwich or some great fries. I don't particularly care for a sandwich I didn't make, but I was pressured into heading here with friends and it was good. The service however was terribly terribly slow for no apparent reason. Some people I was with didn't get exactly what they ordered. Did I already mention the service was mind-bogglingly slow?? So....um I think that explains the three stars

I had forgotten to write a review after stopping here for a quick lunch. They took over the space that was once home to a home furnishing/ decor retail store. They gutted the store and the stark emptiness of the eatery was interesting. The decor was minimal and a bit sterile. But the important part was the meal. I ordered pull pork and expected authetic pulled pork to melt in my mouth. Not really what I expected. It was more like cut up pieces of pork cooked in some sauce. And honestly, it you want a good baguette sandwich for like a few bucks, head into Chinatown and look for Vietnamese Sandwiches. I think they were doing their own version of this sandwich. I prefer the original. I welcomed them to the neighborhood but they didn't give me a response. Just waited for me to give them my order. When the table sitting next to us was trying to figure out what to do with their plates and trash as they couldn't find the trash can, the guy behind the counter, pointed to them where to chuck their trash. Now, I thought to myself, I've been to places where they tell us, "hey don't bother, we'll take care of that!" Honestly, he was standing there doing nothing. I am glad that Fremont has more than just Thai Restaurants. However, I long for a good deli and have my fingers crossed that one will come by soon.
