This place has a decent atmosphere. Pretty relaxed. The pork chop was a fine choice. It came with super good baked/chopped potatoes. They were like potato flavored candy. My friend got the trout and said it was pretty tasty too. The bathrooms are a throw back to an era when Seattle was so grungy that you could buy a guide to the city's best restroom graffiti. The service was friendly, but only came by our table every hour or so (well... not that negligent, but you get the idea.)

I really like the Alibi room. I'm not sure why. It could be the dive feel when you first walk in. It could be because the bar tenders make great drinks or it could be because the food is always yummy. They sometimes have a DJ spinning upstairs after around nine or ten and the crowd is usually subdued and easy going. It just feels like a nice place to grab a couple of drinks if you down by the market.

Uber-hipster spot that turns even trendier after dark. Upstairs is more of a bar/restaurant and downstairs is more scenester lounge. I prefer the upstairs, especially when you can snag the corner by the window. Definitely best after dark!

Purely as a restaurant with good food and drinks and a different atmosphere, I like this place a lot. I defer to fellow Yelpers to rule on other aspects of the Alibi Room. It's less stuffy and/or touristy than other restaurants in the area. We found it after seeing Reefer Madness-- the Musical a few doors down.

in about 9pm on a saturday night, after finishing the "ghost tour" through pike place. our server - which now that i'm writing this i wish i knew her name!!! - was outstanding; double thumbs up for her - she routinely refilled our water glasses (we were parched coming in from a hot day) and was appropriately attentive, which was most impressive mainly because we had coupons for 2 free appetizers so really only paid for 1 beverage! the 2 appies: spicy mac and cheese, which was good - just the right amount of kick to it (probably 2 1/2 of 4 stars on the spice scale?) and a reasonably sized portion for an appie. the 2nd choice was the hummus which had a smooth, creamy texture but was disappointingly bland. it came with cucumber and tomato slices (fresh and tasty) and pita triangles. the later it became the louder it got - and busier, of course, too. difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling across the table at my dining companion, which is not my preference. if it wasn't so loud i suppose it could be romantic? but the dim lights, post-alley location, and even its association with a possible ghost in the basement (??) make this a pretty cool spot.

Haven't been here in a long time, but from the times I spent here in the past I remember nothing but good drinks, great electronica and disco house, and lots of attractive people. Maybe I should go back this weekend?

This place was cool, like 10 years ago...it's a little tired now.

this place refuses to carry jack daniels because they don't want the "frat boy" crowd. i can understand not carrying jager for that reason (and they don't), but jack? this is america, right? so i hate going here, but i have on occasion to see djs. the dance floor downstairs get so disgustingly hot because of air flow issues, and the sound can be pretty poor as well. the food is decent, but the no jd gets you 1 star every time.

I've always liked the environment here, especially downstairs with the copper bar. Also, during the day, the food is quite good.

Lots of fun once you get drunk but the drinks are a little pricey. As I remember they were either out of pineapple juice or they didnt carry it, which is dissapointing because my fav drink needs pineapple. The service wasnt all that great. It was fun to dance downstairs. fin!

eh, its dark, it kinda boring, the music sucks and the dance room down stairs is too small. the food never ceases to disapoint me and it's expensive for crap... and yet i always get sucked into comming back for some ones birthday or something ehhhh i really could do with out this place.

A bit small and crowded when I went, but the host was very nice and the pizza was delicious, they had a few porters on tap and I was happy about that... Not a great place if you're really trying to have a conversation at least on a weekend evening. I'll have to try it out agin another time, possibly earlier.

I had a bad experience yesterday when the lame ass bartender was giving me attitude for ordering one last round at last call. I asked the bartender for two beers, he acknowledged my order then looked away. He continued cleaning up and he basically ignored my order and it never came. Another bartender came by and I reordered my drinks and he delivered them within the minute. The only reason why this place is getting 2 stars is because the 2nd bartender was cool. Screw you bartender#1, don't hate on peeps who work 8-5 who can go out on Friday nights. I will not be returning to this place.

Great place for a private party and good times after as well! I recently had a birthday party thrown for me downstairs that turned out fabulous. The darker decor and layout makes the venue feel cozy, whether there were 10 or 20 people in the room. The prices were good, the food was tastey (we had salads, cheeses and pizza). Our bartender, Ben, was super friendly and seemed to know his tequila and the DJ that night kept us from moving onto a new club after 10p. Thanks to Ben and the DJ from May 17th for the great service and for helping to make the night last just as long as it needed to! We'll be back.....

Being a relative noob to the Seattle scene, I needed a few recommendations from locals on where to get some drinks and have a good time after hours. Unfortunately, most of the places I went into were closing up shop at the rip hour of 11pm. A friendly barman from the Pike Brewing Company suggested the Alibi Room. His directions were great, but nobody would just stumble onto this place unless they were supremely lost. It took us a few double takes to realize that this bar was located in an alley behind Pike Place Market, prime for tourists and locals alike. It is also located directly across from the gum wall, which I didn't even notice the first time we approached the door. The bartender the first night, I don't know his name, was great- the place was slow so he took his time making a margarita that I can still taste. The atmosphere was very hip- dimly lit, modernist furniture, movie scripts on shelves near the front door. But better yet were windows that actually opened upon another alley behind the place providing a welcome bit of fresh air. The second night was even better. The bartender wasn't attentive at first, but after we started mixing with regulars he was on us persistently. He made a great margarita also, and involved me with the ingredients. 2nd round of drinks was on him, which anyone's got to love. Next he let me sample a glass of wine our new friend was sipping, thereafter pouring me a generous 2 glasses and subsequently leaving the bottle (it only had a few oz. left but I drank it anyway). For a Monday night I have to say it was getting busy and everyone was having a great time. When the bar shut down, we were disappointed to have to leave. The third and final night we were there, the bartender (who was there on his own time the night before- how many people can say that about their work) was very attentive and also generous with his portions. The crowd was larger but not as lively, yet despite that there was nowhere else I would have rather been. Music selection was at the whim of the barman, and I thought it was very evolutionary that they had an iPod hooked up to a soundsystem instead of CD's, XM radio or anything else. When and if I go back to Seattle, I will definitely hit this place up. Despite the fact that other aspects of this town left a bad taste in my mouth, the Alibi Room was true redemption.

If I kill someone this is where I want to be arrested and it better be Humphrey Bogart that does it. I like to come here and write. I want to give this place 1 star so you wont come and crowd me while I write. Alibi room is far from 1 star though. The drinks and the food are great but really its the name, its the alley entrance, its the vibe. Anyone want to buy some plane tickets out of Casablanca from me this Tuesday? If so lets meet at the alibi room. I cannot attest to the Friday or Saturday scene. I usually only hit downtown spots after work or mid day during the weekend. If you are from out of town I highly recommend finding this Seattle treasure. It will be memorable.

This place rocks...and it's right in Post Alley across from the gum wall. If you are looking for somewhere to "duck away" (literally) for a quick cocktail and a wood-fired pizza, this place is a must.

I came here the other night with some buddies. I' had been here before during happy hour and was less than impressed. However, this time it crackin fun. They play a really good mix of hip hop at night and they have a small dance floor underground that was pretty packed. Although it was a bit too bright, people were still getting down. We had some food when we first got there. We had an appetizer that was overpriced, but the pizza was pretty decent. The beers are pretty decently priced at $3 to $4.50. I would recommend eating elsewhere before coming here to drink and dance. One things that really surprised me was this place still had seating available late on a saturday night. Every other place was packed, but it was comforting to still find seating here. I don't rate this place all that highly on the price or quality of food, but the ambiance was just too good to ignore. Haha, the location reminded all of us of Beerfest and how we were walking through alleyways to find the mythical Alibi Room!

  • Jeremy M.

The location of this place almost makes you want to leave. I swear it's literally in an alley that looks like an area where you can get mugged with a wall covered entirely with chewing gum(I contributed myself), but it is a real laid back joint. The decor inside is very lightly dimmed almost dark enough you can run into someone without even know it almost. I would probably have to say it would be a almost a semi-informal first date spot, but down the road this place would be a gem.

It seems like every time I walk out of this place, I'm a bigger fan than I was when I walked in. Dim and cozy, friendly staff, good drink selection, good apps and great pizza. The brick oven turns out awesome pies. $5 two-topping mini pizzas at happy hour are a great deal, and really not all that mini, maybe 10". Happy hour also offers a number of $5 food options, $4 wells, and $3 drafts. Also, despite the fact that it's located in Pike Place Market, ground zero for Seattle tourism, the Alibi Room has never felt touristy to me. Its proximity to the (famous?) gum wall is also a cool point. I don't live in Seattle any more but this has been a go-to place on many a return visit to my former home.

Sometimes Seattle feels like a small town. Go to the Alibi Room (if you can find it), and you'll feel like you're in a different town and that there's no chance you'd run into people you know here... which is a great feeling. I love the dim lighting, stiff drinks, good beer, and happy hour specials. It feels like a secret hideout... love it here!

Our party was fabulous. No cost to reserve the room on Fri/Sat nights before 10pm. Our bartender (Brady?) was SUPER friendly and accommodating and did everything he could to help us set up-- found push pins for the giant photo of the birthday girl, disassembled our giant cake to make it more manageable for serving, grooved to the tunes on my iPod, and gave me a heads up when the room was about to open up to the public so we could put away our personal belongings. We lucked out and got the better of the two regular DJs, and once the room opened up to the public, it got packed and everyone was dancing and having a ball. I'd definitely throw another fiesta here!

Are you kidding me? Best service ever! This place can be packed to the brim with just one or two servers/hosts, one cook, and one or two bartenders, but guess what? I never have had to wait long for my food or drink, waitress was always friendly and checking in with me, food is ALWAYS amazing and delicious! And the bartenders are just the sweetest. It gets pretty busy when there's a sporting even downtown or show at the showbox but the employees as well as its patrons have always been great company. I even stop by during my lunch break sometimes and its still a great, beautiful little cozy place to be. It is hidden and thats what I like about it because you either know about the Alibi room or you don't. There is a super HOT, sweet blonde bombshell who works there named Liz! I love it when I get her! She works Saturdays and Sundays. She's amazing balls! Super friends, sharp as a whip, quick on her feet and never needs to write down our orders since she always memorizes everything...Did I mention that smile of hers? I think I'd be happy to tip on the smile alone! Ha! Now that I think of it, all the woman there are super friendly and attractive. I'd be happy to be served by any of them, or spanked by any of them. They have a great happy hour during the day and late night as well. My favorite is the thin pizza with the grapes and bleu cheese pizza! NOM NOM NOM!! They have vegan options and vegetarian as well. Also, this heffer has tried out every appetizer on the menu....Its a GO!! There is an underground room downstairs for dancing and a dj that is sometimes there. I believe you can reserve it for a private party if you want as well. Also, I have a 12 year old and can bring her there during the day for lunch but no kids after 8pm I think?? And supposedly the place is haunted. If you go during the day, especially in summer or hight tourists season, groups of people are guided down during the Haunted Seattle tour or maybe its the Underground Tour? I don't know but still worth the spook. Good place for a loner, good place for a romantically date or to meet after work with a friend of gang of coworkers! Go to Alibi Room. You won't be disappointed. Just seek the bubble gum wall and you will find your way! Go during the week or during the day/early evening if you want to avoid crowds. Weekends are great too if you don't mind crowds. Not usually a fan of crowds but everyone is always so friendly and in a great mood so who cares about the crowds! Every type of person comes through this place regardless of what social status you are; from fisherman, to young/old business man, hipster to country loving bohemian. Come fancy, casual, doesn't matter. All walks of life and still a classy place where everyone is treated equally. Think of it as a modern day CHEERS (like the show/but cooler because I was never a fan of the show). Nothing bad could be said about this place so check it out and enjoy! See you there!

From my first week of living in Seattle, I have always loved the Alibi Room. I have so many nice memories of my times there - the waitress with the tattoos up and down her arms, the afternoon of bloody marys on my cross town hike from greenlake to West Seattle, all the after work cocktails. All of this while feeling like I was doing something just a little bit naughty, mostly because of the name of the place. Any time my SF friends ask me for Seattle recommendations, this is where I send them. Any time I go back to Seattle, this is the place I want to re-visit. *sigh*

Oh Alibi Room..... Back in the early 2000's, this was my spot. Every few weekends around 11PM we'd come with a huge crew, have parties downstairs in the dungeon where cell phone service was non-existent, and party till 2AM and stumble to Contour/Mantra/Habannas...okay, i'll stop..that was so 2001. But so much fun! Back then it was underground hip/hop, but IDK now... Now that I'm out of my 20's, and have friends pushing 40, venues I go to have changed and I haven't been here on a weekend night in at least 8 years. Stopped by around 4PM on a Wednesday evening while waiting for a friend.. Happy Hour: beer, food Cool bartender, good music, nice chill vibe...I recall the last time I came here on a hot summer day in 2005 there was no a/c and we left. Can't say if the a/c has been installed since then since it's the dead middle of winter, but.. HH Pizza: amazing. $5 House well drinks: $4 Excellent spot to chillout under the market and I recommend this spot

Hmmm, Fugazi on their playlist. That was a blast from the past. I oughta give them one more star just for that one, but it's too early in the morning and I'm feeling a bit stingy. Normally I'm a vodka martini or dark beer kind of gal, but I thought I'd try a couple of their cocktails. The Dark and Stormy was tasty with Calvados, ginger ale and a sprinkle of cinnamon/nutmeg on the rocks. Also had the Cucumber Fizz which was a refreshing drink that would have been perfect on a hot day. Had gin, soda, and slices of cucumber. Music was loud, crowd was raucous and my date was cute. And again, I'm back to the fact that they played Fugazi. Feel like I'm 21 again.

Located deep under the Pike Place Market (ok yeah yeah, just under the info booth) there is a place you can go for a really well made cocktail with friends and just have a chill swanky night. This place is not overly dressy but they welcome hotness, but totally somewhere you want to come back to once you've been. The bartenders know what their doing, I ordered a sidecar and aside from the look of "you don't look like your from the 40's when these were all the rage", I got better than expected. I would say my insiders tip for this place is that you need to stop in for an after dinner beverage with friends or someone naughtier... come on why else would it be called the Alibi Room. The only reason they didn't get 5 starts is that it can get a little loud when it's packed, and I haven't tried the food yet. Everything other people ordered looked really good though.

Getting to the Alibi Room is kind of creepy...but in an adventurous kind of way! The pizza was pretty good, drinks were pretty strong, but the wine list was weak. It worth checking out. I went Sunday night and it had a decent crowd...I can't wait to check out happy hour.

Went on a Friday night at around 7pm. Crowded and so, so very loud that three of us were unable to hear each other. Our server was abrupt but prompt with a dash of rude sprinkled on top. The pizza was great - can't go wrong with there. Just prepare to yell at eachother and enjoy some good thin-crust pizza served atop giant tomato cans in the center of the tiny table "so the drunks don't knock them over." And don't joke about stabbing the cans with your fork/knife - I think they have heard that joke one too many times. The food, service, view, and ambiance was so much better about 10 years ago. I miss the old Alibi Room.

Great place to have your next private party. Private bartender, private sound system and you can order pizza from upstairs if you want. Their room downstairs holds about 30 people very comfortably. However, if you have a drunk clown there, EVERYONE will be uncomfortable ( static.px.yelp.com/photo… )

This is one of the first places we ate at in Seattle and is still one of our favorite places to go. Their pizza is wonderful, which is great because good pizza is hard to find! Great ambience in the upstairs area which is usually pretty full but we always find a table. Food is pretty quick. Highly recommend.

The grapes and bleu cheese pizza is so amazing that I am craving it all the way from Portland. Sounds like a strange combo but it works beautifully, worth a trip to Pike Place even if there is traffic... That's the highest praise I can give

Probably the most laid back and definitely the darkest bar in the market area. Alibi room is a cool/hip place to take your friends without trying to be too cool/hip. It's dark and the music isn't so loud that you can't hold a conversation (Although I went early, before the dance club opened). We had good food. The only thing I would recommend is to order the dressing on the side, my wedge salad was drenched. Been living in Seattle for 2 years, been to pike place countless times... Didn't even know the gum wall existed until I went here. It's expectantly neat and disgusting at the same time, like the metro.

Food: Really tasty! Service: Martha was our waitress and we all loved her! Drinks: Stiff! Need I say more? Decor: Dark, I'm in love with this place Pricing: I paid for ten people and it wasn't scary

My chicken and peppers pizza was delicious. My 206 martini was perfect. The staff was very friendly and efficient, even though they were pretty busy for a Thursday night. What else can I say? Will definitely be hitting this place up again!

I have been to Alibi several times over the years. With girlfriends, drinks before a concert with a guy friend of mine, HH with my mother and for post dinner drinks with a date. It is one of those places, hidden away, which has a certain speakeasy feel to it with its dark interior and off the beaten path location. It can get loud at times depending on the time of night but there is always a good crowd of people. I have seen birthday celebrations, dates, groups of friends, after Mariner game patrons, and everything in between which is what I like about it. The HH food is well priced and quite tasty and the drinks are delicious. On my most recent visit I had the 206 martini with vodka and St. Germain and it was absolutely delicious with a bit of sweetness but balance with the vodka. These could be very dangerous! I think this is a great spot to start your night with HH or also a great way to end the night after a meal in one of the many nearby restaurants (Steelhead Diner, Matt's in the Market, Café Campagne and Chez Shea just to name a few). *if you want to get your groove on they had a DJ downstairs on Friday night so you could have a chill low key time upstairs and then pop down for some dancing as you feel the need!

We live literally 5 minutes away from Alibi room and just discovered it in the past few weeks and I have a hard time not thinking about going back at least once a week, and so far we have. The ambiance is cool with the exposed brick and candlelight. Service has always been great. I wish I catch her name but server with the curly brown hair always treats us like old friends. Then there's the pizza.... So freaking good. Love the pine n swine, husband loves the green eggs and ham. Every combination I've tried is out of this world. Drinks are well crafted and a nice beer selection as well. Happy hour is a great deal but pies are reasonably priced and worth every penny.

I've eaten here twice - both times, the food was superb and the experience was really cool. This place is a hidden gem near the "Public Market" area, near the awesome (and kinda gross) chewing gum wall! The dining area is very dark & is a very relaxed atmosphere. I recommend the pizzas! It's a little pricey if you're eating & drinking, but well worth the money!

The Alibi Room has a cool stash of movie screenplays, they give you something fun to look at while dining, or drinking with your friends. The ambiance is a little weird, and the "kitchen" area, well frankly the idea of ordering food there scares the hell out of me. As such, I haven't had any food, but they do serve kilt-lifter, which is all I need to know as kilt-lifter is taste-a-licious. Located adjacent to the gum-wall, yes I stuck my tongue on there for a photo-op, shut up, it's trick to find if you aren't familiar with the area. It's a good stop for a mid-week night on the town. Make sure you look out the windows, you'd never think it could be three stories down, but it is, and it's sort of a mindtrip.

"Ooohnsuh...Ooohnsuh...Ooohnsuh...Ooohnsuh..." It was to those sounds that I first descended the stairs into the downstairs DJ space at the Alibi Room some 8 years ago or so. If my memory serves I was probably wearing a metallic colored jacket, an open collared shirt and I don't know, jeans? More likely linen slacks or light weight cotton. The techno beat pulsated, "Ooohnsuh...Ooohnsuh...Ooohnsuh." I was drunk, my friends were drunk and the crowd was sweaty, and drunk. That was was then. Here are my impressions of the Alibi Room now: Now many people on a sunny day like to go sit outside at a sidewalk cafe or perhaps a rooftop deck. Me, I am sun and heat adverse so I like to search out a dark, cool place, preferably underground that serves up cold drinks and tasty food. The Alibi Room hits on all three points. To get there go the Pike Place Market, walk toward the hoards of tourists with gaping maws acting like they have never seen fresh fish, hang a right, right before pig, go down the steep and uneven staircase, turn left down Post Alley and the door is on your right. If you are a tourist or new her take a picture with the chewing gum wall, it's on your left. The first thing that hits you when you walk into The Alibi is it's low lighting. It might be sunny and 85 outside, but in The Alibi Room the lights are low which is great for hiding your scars and hatchet face, or if the heat is getting to you (note in the evenings when it's packed it can get quite hot). The wood is dark, the art on the walls is usually interesting and there are always a number of characters sitting at the bar. If you want to interact with said characters choose to sit on a stool, if you are with friends or just prefer to take in the lay of the land, a table works well. My favorite is the corner booth/table right by the stairs. Service at the Alibi Room is friendly and the bartenders mix a good cocktail. If it's summer (or winter for that matter) and want a classic cocktail that refreshes as it socially lubricates you try the cucumber and gin concoction on the drinks menu, I believe it's called a Cucumber Smash. It has just the right amount of citrus (from lime), gin (from Hendricks) and cucumber (from the Earth). It's a little sweet and very clean tasting, lovely. They also have a full bar well stoked with gins, vodkas and whiskeys (American and Scotch), as well as a good wine list and selection of beers. The staff, what can I say? They are attentive, friendly and will give just the right amount of attitude if you ask nicely. What about the crowd you ask? It can vary, there are often private parties in the "Ooohnsuh, Ooohnsuh Room" downstairs and the bar is usually well packed with the aforementioned characters. There are often couples dining before a show and everyone seems to be having fun. On a recent night there I made friend with a pair of Irish sisters that were touring America (North and South) and drinking rum from small rocks glasses that they were cutting with Coca-Cola. We were all sitting at the bar and I struck up a conversation. We enjoyed several rounds and much laughter. That pretty much sums up the Alibi Room, a good place to go with friends or meet new ones, even if only for a few hours on a Wednesday. Oh, I forgot the food. They recently changed their menu to be mostly "Market Fresh Pizza." I have sampled and what I have had is good so far, but it will take another trip or two to get the full flavor, so to speak. I will update when that happens.

I actually love this place. It's tucked away under the Pikes Place Market in Post Alley, and it feels like you are entering an old timey speakeasy. Inside is a long room divided into a thin bar area to the left and a larger dining area throughout the rest of the space. It's dark inside, but there is a wall of windows that keep it from being claustrophobic. The view is not... however daylight ventures in. The fixtures are wood/modern, and well lived in. Every time I have gone there is a new artist being featured, usually in a street art style, and I always want to take at least a couple pictures home. So why only one star? Did I mention the food is tasty? The pizza has a light chewy crust, crispy at the edges, the variety is tempting and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. I also like to break my diet on the gooey, curly, spicy mac -n- cheese. Being a salad lover I have to add that they have about 6 different salads, generously portioned, and the freshness of the ingredients is golden. They also have on the menu Bruchetta, a white bean hummus, roasted garlic and cambozola, apples and brie, and tapenade. Their happy hour starts early and goes late, and it really makes me happy to get a great deal. It's the kind of place that you want to hang out in awhile, nibbling and yakking. The reason for one star is because the owners seem to think that waitstaff equals house elf (Harry Potter for slave). If it's a light day it's not so bad to see one person running the entire dining room and bar, but it's frequently busy. In fact on St. Patrick's day there was only one waitress, a bartender, and a guy who walked around occasionally swinging his towel - but offering no help to the poor woman who was run off her feet accommodating at least 50 rowdy people with drinks and food orders. One person! Are the owners living in a the twilight zone? Are they too greedy to hire adequate waitstaff? Or perhaps the owners are out to lunch and it's a delinquent manager. I would also add that the drinks are a little weak, and the wine list a lot weak. I would love to give this place the 4 stars it deserves - with reasonable staffing and a wine list as tempting as the menu. Hopefully that day will come soon. Why only 4? Because once the place gets crowded the sound level reverberates off the walls, so everyone just starts yelling louder. An absurd convention found in lots of otherwise wonderful joints.

I'd like to rate this 4.5 stars, but alas, Yelp is half-star deficient. I went to the Alibi Room after reading Yelp reviews, and once again I'm glad I Yelp. We ordered the Spicy Mac and Cheese (and like most mac n cheese it seems, it was not actually Macaroni pasta), which was kind of like macaroni and cheese with salsa mixed in. That's sounds weird, so that's not really a good description. It has a cheese sauce, with chunks of tomato, red bell pepper, and onion. It is definitely spicy, but is not super cheesy, hence the 4.5 stars. My husband loved it, and nearly picked up the dish and licked it! We also ordered the Pine and Swine pizza, which for those of you who may be a little slow like me, this is Pineapple (not pine nuts!) and Ham. I think the ham is from a local vendor, and is super "hammy" and delicious. It does not taste or look processed, and are actual chunks of ham. I really enjoyed the "How bout a Fresca Hmm" mixed drink, which consisted of Ruby Red vodka, fresca, and grapefruit juice. Hubby likes girly drinks, and he really liked the Mai Tai. This place has some funky art on the walls, which looks like it is for sale too. They played some good music, and had a really fun atmosphere. Didn't make it downstairs to the dance floor. I would totally come here again for some great pizza and some fun drinks.

The alibi room was a little difficult to find. I was meeting friends for a night on the town and decided to go here for cocktails and beverages. It was an interesting environment. The lighting was mysteriously very low. Like a bad first date. Like you didn't want to be looking at who you were with. :) The food was delicious and the cocktails were strong. It was a good choice! I'm curious to see what its like during the day. I went during the evening. I wonder if the mood lighting changes during the day......

This place was just ok. We sat at the bar for drinks and the bar tending was spotty (wasn't really that busy either). Seemed like there were a lot of people that thought they were too cool hanging out. The downstairs area is small. Cool location.

Good times! It's nice to see people over 30 letting loose and having a good time. This is a fun and laid back place. Not pretentious what so ever. Check it out! You won't be sorry (unless you're a douchbag. No douches allowed. You'd be too missed at The Amber Room. Ha, ha.) 3.5 stars. :-)

Wow- I didn't know a place like this existed in Seattle. This is a really fun, sleek bar with a cozy interior, friendly service, and yummy appetizers. It's set in a cool location in Post Alley right across from the gum wall. The dark, intimate atmosphere is pretty swank, so it'd be a nice place to take someone you want to impress. It seems popular and for a good reason so the only thing I'd say is be prepared to wait on a weekend night. They even have a pizza oven and the menu choices looked promising so I will definitely be back to try that.

maybe i feel a bit ornery right now, but here goes...if you have visitors in town and you want to take them to a "cool seattle place" then you got your winner. not to be a hater, but you can definitely get better food elsewhere. they don't have to do anything special except stock what i want for beer. and they do that. so all in all, it's a it's a very good, solid place, but i can't give it 5 stars. would rather do 3.5. grrrrrr.

I am obsessed with their 12-6pm happy hour. I've been dreaming about the PERFECT thin crust pizza with market fresh ingredients. I just want to sit at the bar, drink whiskey ,eat pizza and read Steven King.

It's really dark in here. I think I tripped over something on my way over to our table. Could have been someone's foot. Could have been a bread basket.. no clue. That's how dark, people! My Pinot Gris was delightful. The menu extensive, with such gastric delights as Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf and Spicy Mac n' Cheez. Some interesting salads and appetizers on the menu as well. But really, I did like the ambiance of the Alibi Room. Great date place. Dark and candlelit, with flowers, and tasteful nudes gracing the walls.. I mean, you could totally make out with your date and no one would notice OR care. Cool!

Loves it! Just a short walk from my place - this is a great standby to bring anyone from out of town, a date, a best friend to have girl talk time, and even my parents. Delicious pizza - they even have a make your own menu, and will make me my very own basil and mushroom, hold the cheese please pizza. The service has been great - all though once when my boyfriend and i were there, the guy who took our order called us douche bags....but it was all good, made us laugh, and added to the appeal of this place.."did he just call us douche bags? yep im pretty sure he did haha" Come here - eat some delicious pizza - see some awesome and always changing art - and have a laugh!

Loved the food and loved the ambience. Seating was a bit tight (might have been because it was the night before Halloween). That is the only reason this isn't a five star. Get the Green Eggs and Ham pizza!

Pros: Very nice bartender downstairs and door guy, DELICIOUS food (try the green eggs and ham pizza - just try it!), very accommodating to large groups in the basement, awesome DJ on Saturday. Cons: Poor parking options, but hey it's the Market. Also a bit pricey on the drinks but again, this is the cit-ay.

It was a dark and stormy night. The cobblestone streets of the deserted market were teeming with unsavory characters. Though all signs urged me to turn back, I was a dame with a mission: to find and penetrate the elusive Alibi Room. Questions poured down like the rain. Upper or lower Post Alley? Where is that damn gum wall? I needed some clues, and I NEEDED a drink. I found my answer directly underneath the famous neon sign. Down the stairs... turn the corner... don't make eye contact with those thugs lurking over there... warm.. warmer... DISCO. With my mission complete, my smoking .38 tucked away, and my cohorts beckoning, I descended the staircase to the Alibi lounge. I hadn't planned to party much, but my friends can be quite persuasive. Some of them I call coworkers, but one in particular I call "vodka". Combined with seductive dim lighting, stylishly eclectic crowd, and a powerhouse DJ mashing Christina Aguilera, Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Junior Senior... this club was making me an offer I couldn't refuse. The next morning, with a slight hangover, I returned to my private office to review my file and close the case. Great bartenders, sick jams, random dance parties, sweet crowd, sultry atmosphere, mysterious location. It had been a tough situation to discover, but then again I'm a tough broad. I slammed shut the desk drawer and slammed the contents of my flask down my throat. Success. For the events of last night, I would need no alibi.

Yum! Pizza served on olive cans and large hipster murals everywhere! Surely a 20'something's dream, and so close to Pike Place Market! I like the ambiance of this restaurant bar a lot. The pizza is mega delicious, the bar is great, and the servers are pretty speedy considering they are weighed down by epic amounts of piercings. I had a nice, quiet lunch here on a weekday once and celebrated happy hour with a group of friends in the evening. Both experiences were really nice. I recommend the pizzas and spicy mac & cheese.

Good happy hour, great local beers on tap. The service was awesome (it was not super busy when we were there) but the server got us everything we needed within 45 minutes so we could eat and run to the next thing. Definitely will be back.

Perhaps it was because I showed up already drunk, but this place knocked my socks off! I checked this place out last night with a lady-friend of mine (she had previous been; I had not). The mood was perfect, with dim lighting and candles on every table. The music wasn't atrocious either. The service was also top-notch, with our waitress indulging us when we'd ask who a particular artist playing was. She would say, "Hmm, I'm not really sure. Let me go find out" and would run to check the iPod. She had some lemony-tasting cocktail (I think they called it a "fresca"), and I had a Full Sail Amber. My drink tasted exactly as I knew it would; Hers, on the other hand, was surprisingly delicious and seemingly stout. We got the meat-lovers pizza (their name for it escapes me at the moment), and it was so so good! The whole experience was very pleasant and I look forward to going back.

This place is, quite literally, a hole in the wall. :D The food and drinks are good. Great thin-crust pizzas with excellent toppings. Nice selection of local beers. The ambiance is a bit strange. It's a little too loud by the bar area to really hear conversation when you're with a larger group of people. And the lighting is a little too dark...I had difficulty reading the menu without bringing it up to catch the light from the window. Besides the fact that it's across the way from a wall covered in bubblegum...The Seattle Gum Wall.

Being a film geek and a film industry professional full time I do kind of have a bias when it comes to the Alibi Room. I love the atmosphere the setting, the kind of hidden away feel and the hints of exclusivity. What I don't like is the fact that they don't carry basic liquor like Captain Morgan. I am the furthest thing from a "frat boy" that you will ever find, matter of fact I rather despise them and take great pleasure in mocking them when they are drunk and rubbing up on each other, but I drink only Captain Morgan. Apparently, as pointed out by a fellow reviewer, Alibi seems to think that drinks like Captain and Jack are for "frat boys", so I am left trying to decide what to drink half the night. Drink prices are a little high but they are good pours. Food prices are a little high but the food is amazing. The staff is kind and fairly social but they do manage to hang on to that "holier than thou" attitude unless you drop $100 in tips. Great place to eat lunch, get away from the crowds. Great place to see and be seen. For those who like to get work done in a great setting this is also a great place to write, work on that pitch, or just plain read a book.

Depending on what I'm there for, the Alibi Room can earn anywhere from 3 to all 5 stars. When I'm there for drinks; hanging out downstairs late-night, the Alibi Room gets all 5 stars. The joint is hip and trendy, and music is funky and danceable. It's easy to get drinks, and they're well-made (when I say well-made I mean stiff enough). Upstairs is a few degrees more chill, and it's a great place to hang out and socialize. The food used to be so much better. The pizza is just ok. I'm a fan of the Neapolitan style of pizza, and they get it done, but I miss their diverse dinner menu. Bring back the butternut squash soup! Oh Alibi Room, I'm more foody than bar-star these days, and that's why I can only find 3 stars in my heart for you. That said, I'll be back when the bar-star in me wakes up.

If you can find this place, you're in for a treat. It's cute, cozy and romantic, the service is great and it's pretty cheap too. The food is absolutely wonderful. I've never had anything bad here, but the meal that actually stands out the most is the omelette I had at brunch one Sunday. It was filled with chevre, cambazola, and a ton of delicious herbs. I've tried replicating it at home and just can't. Hmm, guess I'll have to come back next time I am in town!

Stopped in here after work one day with a friend for Happy hour. The personal pizza was awesome, and the beers were nicely chilled. The place was pretty much empty, which made service pretty snappy. When we were done I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I can say this cab is rare but I thought 'Nah forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'...I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabbie 'yo homes smell ya later' I looked at my kingdom I was finally there to sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air!

I'm going three stars, but I like the place, nope, yep, I guess this is a 3 star spot, it has a great feel and the food is solid, you just have to be in the mood for it. They have upstairs eating and downstairs drinking on the weekends. It is sort of hard to find deep down in the market and gives it that allure. I've happened in here twice over the last couple of nights. Once on Thursday for a few beers and it just feels warm, the service is good and friendly. And then the other time, last night, it was too busy and we didn't have reservations, so we took off rather quickly. Not knock on them though, we should have called. And way back, I've eaten here, and always remember it tasting great. The kitchen is sort of in the bar which makes everything smells so great.

  • Robby C.

First of all, unless you are able to grab a table upstairs, expect to be uncomfortable for the majority of the night downstairs seated back to back with other patrons. With about a group of six on a Friday night, it was sort of expected that we would get nudged downstairs into a rather awkward atmosphere. Apparently, the downstairs room is supposed to be a dance floor, but it is really just a fifteen foot by twenty foot room with a bar and two flat screens and blaring music. Now, we had no issues with the music since they were playing Jurassic 5, but for some reason, both of the televisions initially turned us off to the atmosphere they were attempting to convey. On one screen, the movie Breakin' was shown while the other screen projected a video recording of a roaring fireplace. Though the bartender was attentive and sociable, perhaps it would have been better for us to wait for a table upstairs. The pizza we ordered was about twelve dollars, the margherita, and was large enough to feed probably half of our group. With mozzarella and tomatoes on a thin crunchy pizza crust, it seemed almost too fancy to be bar food. As for drinks, they are not anything to rave about though the prices are comparable to about any bar within the area. Our only suggestion is that it may be more worthwhile to have come during happy hour for cheaper drink and food specials.

We were walking through chewing gum alley yesterday and saw the sign so we stopped in for a couple cocktails. Totally recommend this place!! Our drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was rad... Just what we were looking for!! If we hadn't just eaten before we came in, we would have.. It smelled amazing and the menu looked really good!! And the 90's music choice--perfect!!

OH MY GOD, How could I forgotten to give this place A 5 STAR REVIEW, they earned it!!! HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP TO SEATTLE!!! Our night was almost ruined by some lame hostess at Toulouse Petit! Thank God no reservations were needed even though it was a crazy Saturday night and I called over 5 other restaurants who were not taking anymore reservations. I think since it tucked away, it is a little hidden gem in Pike Marketplace. The hostess, waitress, bar tender...Kuddos to them all! They sat us down right away and even let my husband charge his phone. They had amazing recommendations and of course you can never fail with having eggs on your pizza. So we went with it, the Green Eggs and Ham Pizza and it was TOOOOO DIE FOR!!! YUMMY!!! Hands down one of the most flavorful, creative, ingenious pizza combos I have ever put in my mouth! If and when we go back to Seattle I will look forward to having my son try this awesome and neat little place!!!

Came to Alibi for a quick drink after work so it wasnt a very long stay. Just go towards the gum wall and you'll see the sign for Alibi Room. Wasnt busy at all when I came in, they do have some Happy Hour specials and a good amount of food options available. Pizzas seem to be a hit here. Good amount of room to sit, saw some people working on their laptops in the corner, if you need a quick break from the Pike Place Market madness, this may be a good spot to tuck into for a bit and have a drink and relax. Friendly bartender and interesting artwork on the wall I believe is for sale too. Bathrooms downstairs, so try not to fall down. This place is listed in the "dance club" category? Is this a club at night? Didn't know that....most likely Ill be asleep by that time. Anyways, overall I liked it, and a good spot to stop after work.

Super fun place to go near Pike Place market. We went for happy hour. $5 pizza, Mac n cheese and several other appetizers $4.50 beers. $4.75 well drinks. Dark, motivating atmosphere to write. Like the poets of the past.

This is a popular, hidden away pub in Post Alley, tucked in behind the curious and cool gum wall. Nothing unique as far as motif goes, but it's nice and simple wood, with dim lighting. All in all nice atmosphere. Service: Courteous and timely. No complaints in that department, our server was lovely even though my partner and I were in pretty sour moods. Whoops. Food: Their specialty is brick oven pizza, which as any sane person knows is the best pizza. They had an excellent selection of high-quality, local toppings. We decided to keep it simple and go with the margherita pizza, which was superb. The basil was cut up, rather than in solid leaves, which I really liked. They also had a fair good selection of standard pub fare, vegan options, gluten free options, dips, etc. Drink: Holy mother of God, this was one of the top five Bloody Mary's I have ever had. Seriously, if you like Bloody Mary's go here. I COMMAND YOU. My boyfriend ordered the Trappist beer, and both were very well priced. Four stars instead of five as the music was *really* loud and we basically had to yell to hear one another.

A wonderful dark lounge at Pike Place Market originally owned I am told by the great character actor Tom Skerritt. On the right side of the door all his scripts over a long career sit on two shelves. The drinks are reasonably priced and it's just a cool place to hang out away from the hustle and bustle of the market. I didn't try the food but told it's decent pub grub. I would definitely hang out here when I wanted low-key place to drink if I lived in Seattle. I am not a dive bar person. This has what I take to be some of the perks of a dive bar without any of the downsides.

Last stop on our first day in Seattle. Loved the ambiance of this place. Wood with dark lighting. My kind of place. I hate bright places in the wee hours of the morning, haha. Ordered some chicken mac & cheese. Great size portion and very yummy with a kick to it. I was disappointed in the drink. After finding great places all night with great pours this place didn't hold up. Gets super busy after 1. I've worked in this industry before for many years and wouldn't topically go to the bar to order if I'm at a table and wait for the server. But we waited, waited & waited. More tables kept coming in and it was just too busy for the one server. We ended up going to the bar. Overall good place and I'd come back if I'm back in Seattle.

Tucked away in Pike Place Market by the gum wall, this cozy bar ends up having a downstairs as well. Based on the entrance in the brick wall, you imagine a small bar but are proved otherwise. As we walked in, the server seated us within a few minutes and took our drink orders. They had a menu for the happy hour, a wine menu and the regular menu. The happy hour food selection was pretty decent. We ordered the andouille sausage mini pizza, spicy mac and cheese and bruschetta. First with the andouille sausage pizza; it was a decent pizza, the dough/bread was lightly crispy and good. The crust wasn't too hard in any spots and the sauce was good. I regret not ordering different toppings as I realized that I am not a fan of andouille sausage. Overall, I recommend trying their pizza. The spicy mac and cheese was rather small for a $6 happy hour dish that is supposed to be half price. The dish it came it was about 1cm deep with a bunch of spiral pasta topped with cheese and some sort of spicy flavoring. It was more of a dull aftertaste type of spiciness. I would advise against this mac and cheese as it lacked flavor and dimension and just gave me a bunch of fat calories. Finally the bruschetta, do not order it. The bread was over-toasted, insanely hard to the point the nerves in my teeth started hurting. The tomato bruschetta portion was very watery as if the tomatoes had been soaking all day or recently unfrozen? The bruschetta was very flavorless and to say I have had better would be a serious understatement. Overall these 3 dishes, a draft beer and water came to about $27 w/ tax and we definitely think there are better happy hour places to visit. I didn't come out regretting coming here but sadly there was nothing to make me want to come again. Sometimes you go to places which leave a memory for time to come but this place unfortunately will be a forgotten memory as soon as I save this review.

Ordered the prosciutto pizza and the green eggs and ham. The prosciutto pizza was extremely salty. I know prosciutto can be salty, but it was just over the top way too salty. The green eggs and ham dough/bread was really hard. Despite my group of friends being all hungry after being on cloud 9, we didn't even finish the pizzas and I believe they took it to go and gave it to a homeless person on the street. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this place. Thought I would've liked it and was expecting to, but it just didn't make the cut for me.

This place doesn't have bells and whistles, but it really doesn't need it! The pizza is made in a brick oven, made with fresh, creative ingredients. Literally any pizza is worth ordering because they start with great ingredients that shine. The staff is friendly, but they aren't your best friend so go ahead and order or let them move on...don't ramble! The drinks are flavorful and strong and like most Seattle spots, their bartenders are knowledgeable. My review on this place is shorter than my usual ones because I'm trying to be as direct as this place is. One tip for the ladies, skip the short skirts as the benches are wood and can be a bit...textured. Have fun!

Well for starters don't get the Moscow mule because they don't have copper mugs... But I fell in total love with the Caprise Salad, soft and savory mozzarella, seasoned tomato, light dressing, topped with greens (all organic)!!! We had the chicken pizza but my first choice would have been Hawaiian pizza, still very yummy! Loved the ambiance!

Classy jazz with the ambiance of an old Italian movie. Lovely staff and quick service add to the delicious plates from spicy mac, fresh breads, thin crust pizzas, to brie cheese and honey dipped apple slices. Its worth the while to find this hidden gem.

Cool location. Walk down the stairs of Pike Place Market, where the big sign is.The place is super dark and cozy. The hostess was super friendly and got us a table even though it was super packed. Got a few drinks - moscow mules, and a few beers. Pretty good. Also ordered the jalapeno chicken flatbread. It looks like they are known for their flatbread, but it was okay - nothing memorable, and have had better. The waitress was a bit rude. We had sat for at least 20 min before she came by and gave us water and menus. Then when we had tried to get her attention to order, she gave us the "wait a minute" finger and didnt come back fro another 15 min. It was very weird.

We've lived in the Seattle area for many years, but only recently have we "discovered" the Alibi Room. We love this place! The pizza is great, and the atmosphere is very comfortably funky. Brody the bartender treats us like VIPs, even though we've only visited about half-dozen times. Well, thanks to his great service and the good food and the beer and the hauntingly charming ambiance, we'll be coming back here for a LONG time... probably until there is NO more room left on the Gum Wall outside. Maybe even AFTER that!

Great little dingy spot. It is actually clean, but gives off that hole in a wall vibe. Had the spicy mac and cheese and the pizza. Both were really good. Bartenders were professional, friendly and helpful.

I like the atmosphere here (but if you come on a Friday night, it maybe a bit too loud). They dim the light and make it a very "romantic". We were in a group of three and ordered 2 pizzas and we were all stuffed afterward. We ordered a margarita and a goat cheese prosciutto arugula. I liked the margarita; the goat cheese prosciutto arugula was fine but just a bit too garlic-y for me. Our waitress was super nice. A very strong 4 out of 5.

We had the green eggs and ham pizza. Om nom nom. I had been here for drinks one other time and really enjoyed it so I took my man friend here on a surprise date after work. The atmosphere is great and I could hear myself think which is always a plus in my book. It is kind of tucked away at pike place market next to the gum wall and it is worth the visit. Our pizza was hot, crispy, had lots of meat and 4 over easy eggs. My drink was $8 and had the right alcohol to yummy fizzyness ratio. We will be back to try some other pizzas... I would suggest it :)

I liked this place a lot. A little tough to find (next to the gum wall), but the atmosphere was great and the drinks were top notch! I had one of their spirit forward cocktails and really enjoyed it a lot. Also had their mac & cheese which was pretty good. Worth a visit!

Love this little bar across from The Gum Wall! Not a whole lot of room, but they have a full bar and great food. If you're in the mood for pizza, I recommend the Grape & Balsamic Pizza. Soooooooo yummy. The Spicy Mac & Cheese was a little too spicy for my taste, but if you like it HOT, give it a try! Made with Sriracha Hot Sauce, so it's HOT! Happy Hour is from 11:30a to 6pm, so you've got lots of time to try it all! I'll definitely be back!

The Alibi Room seems aptly named as it insinuates something secretive. Every friend I've taken here has questioned where I was taking them as they warily eyed the cobblestone streets of Post Alley and then to face the Gum Wall. The Gum Wall is another review, but typically I pray for a cooler day so the smell doesn't curdle my appetite. If you're with someone who has mobility challenges, the Alibi Room can be tricky to navigate to. The restaurant is the first alcove to the left with a door that has no hours listed on it. Every time I've been to the Alibi Room it has been for lunch - with one Friday night dinner exception. I would seriously suggest lunch if you want to easily hear your friends and you want to avoid a crowd. Lunch times are typically sparse and service is fast. Dinner was crowded and loud. The Alibi Room is very dimly lit with thick wood tables and a very back room sort of feel. I have always had good service - genuinely nice people who are never overbearing. I love their pizzas. They serve many non-traditional pizzas and my favorite is the grapes and blue cheese pizza with balsamic. It sounds odd, but oh wow is it delicious! I get the mini pizza and have enough for leftovers. Their crab dip was ok, but felt the seasoned bread that came with it overpowered it. Alibi Room is a great spot in Seattle, and very fun to bring people!

Love this hideaway...best service from Bodie! My new pal for sure at this quaint cafe/bar. Awesome pizza, salads, mac&cheese and moscow mules. Even the drafts are great. The Happy Hour menu is a great deal for those of us on a budget. Mahalo! Patrick :-)

A little dark for a sunny afternoon but the food was delicious!! Had a spinach salad with caramelised pecans, yummy! Husband had 4 cheeses pizza. Perfect European style but it had been a bit too long in the oven. A pity otherwise 5 stars!

A dark, happening bar tucked away in an alley beside Pike Place Market, one of the late-night spots in an area that sleeps early. Service was slow the night I was there, but the place was packed. The owner introduced himself to another couple and was surprisingly relaxed and convivial. Drinks are reasonably priced. Food didn't seem like typical pub-grub (not much on the menu suitable for eating at the bar). But I had the Spicy Mac & Cheese, and it was tremendous. Really good balance of spice, perfectly cooked mac, not too cheesy, and the whole thing served piping hot, perfect for a cold November day in Seattle. Not a place to go in a hurry, but an interesting, non-touristy spot with good prices, and the owner on-premises. Recommended.

Still basking in the glory that I was the one that chose this place! The atmosphere is exactly what"vacation" is supposed to be. Hip and rustic. Part of the fun was finding it (hint: gun wall) Great tunes, food and service!

I've been to Alibi room twice, and both occasions were privately hosted events. Two facts are indubitable: the pizzas are delicious, and the drinks are hella classy. I'm a particular fan of the cocktail called "The Governor," and the prosciutto and arugula pizza is just everything I ever wanted from an oven. Why's one star missing then? No, it's not the price point. It's the issue that I struggle so hard to hear anyone I'm with! I don't know if it's the music, the shape and size of the place, or whether everyone who comes here is just really loud, but every conversation I've had (err...maybe even attempted to have) here has been an uphill climb. Sitting at the bar is the only thing that's worked. Or maybe I just need hearing aids.

Love this place for a quick bite, their pizzas are great. I've ordered the mushroom truffle, vegan, and bacon and blue cheese to name a few memorable ones and have yet to be disappointed after multiple times back. Ambiance is Kind of divey but in a good way. You can generally walk in and get a seat for a few people depending on the time but it's also a great place to grab a drink. Despite being next to the wall of gum traffic most tourists don't seem to find their way in here as much as you would think. Great Seattle staple that I recommend to friends!

This secluded little bar is downstairs at Pike Place market, right next to the really gross, yet fascinating, gum wall. There's some really quirky wall art in the bar, it's kind of fun. The bar is a little bit warm in the summer but the windows and the front door were open so that helped. I came here with a group of friends on a Monday night and it was mostly empty with a few locals having a drink. The guy behind the counter, Jason, was a really attentive bartender and super friendly to everyone in our group. It was obvious we were tourists and instead brushing us off he seemed genuinely nice and very efficient with waiting on each one of us individually. I wasn't feeling so great by the time we came to this bar so I asked for a non-alcoholic drink. Jason gladly whipped up his favorite non-alcoholic drink that he claimed would make me feel better. He muddled some fresh lemons and limes into the bottom of a glass with some different mixtures of soda and juices. Oddly enough the drink and his expert bartending skills did make me feel better! I would definitely come back, this is a fun place that's very chill and out-of-the-way despite being in the middle of a touristy area.

Pizza Con Carne. If it comes from a pig, it is on the pie. Corey was a fantastic server, seemed a little over qualified for that position.

The place is good. We ordered the chicken and jalapeño pizza and a calzone with chicken and basil. The chicken is shredded which I think gives it a good texture. Wasn't really spicy but throw on some crushed peppers and it'll do it for you. The calzone was good I should have picked better toppings for mine though. Was a bit parched tho and didn't get my water refilled till the end.

Anyone who has spent any amount of time in Pike Place Market knows just how overly touristy all of the attractions can be. The Alibi Room is not one of these places. Quite literally a hole-in-the-wall, you will walk right past it if you do not know it is there. If you can get past the hoard of tourists taking their gum wall photos, enter said hole for dark, edgy bar vibes and awesome pizzas. Yes, this spot is pretty dark inside. Pretty small, loud music, stoic, tattooed staff. I feel like all of this is a part of the atmosphere, which is fine with me. The service is kind of whatever. Don't expect to have a super involved and helpful waiter/waitress, but they're nice and attentive enough so I'm not complaining. But what is most important here is the pizza. I cannot stress this enough. Try something new and stray from the pepperoni, cheese, or margherita pizzas. My favorites have been the Chorizo & Potato (it has fontina and manchego on it, mmm!) and the Truffle Tre Fungi (for mushroom fanatics). However, I still have yet to try some of their other pizzas, but I trust those are tasty as well. Come with a friend/date during happy hour. Order one of their decent beers (I think they're $4 during happy hour). Get personal sized versions of any of their pizzas. Trade a slice or two with your company.

I was recommended to this place by a Seattle local on the street when we asked him for a good spot for drinks, so my friends and I decided to check it out. This was a very chill environment with good beers on tap. I did not try any of the food because I came for drinks, but the happy hour menu looked good and I was tempted to order the cheesy mac. The pizzas menu was intersting, and contained interesting toppings such as blueberries. As for their happy hour the beers and cocktails were discounted. I had the pikes place Kilt Lifter, and also tried the Winter Tea Cocktail, which was my first WARM alcoholic beverage. I'm a fan of tea, and it was still pretty strong so it was very good. My friend is a big manhattan fan, but didn't enjoy theirs at all. Oh yeah, very friendly bar staff as well. We came back at night where they had a club scene going on downstairs, although the room was very clustered and with only 2 bartenders it took too long to order a drink. I recommend this spot and will be back when I'm back in Seattle.

I liked it :) I ordered the spinach salad and it was tasty. My husband got the calzone and after having a bite I wish I had ordered that. His also came with a little salad. A friend got a pizza and it was tasty as well. Only thing that I didn't like is how damn dark it is in here.

Alibi Room was a pleasant find in the midst of the hustle and bustle evening hours of Pike Place Market. And I do mean "find" since it's sort of hidden down the brick Post Alley, right across from the (in)famous Gum Wall. The bar and restaurant were packed since it was late on a weekend, but I found just enough room near the bar table to plop down and relax. There is also a whole other bar downstairs, but it was practically empty. I briefly shot the breeze with the doorman, a very cool, personable guy who didn't take his job too seriously (but could if negatively motivated). I hadn't eaten dinner and the look and especially the smell of their brick oven pizzas beckoned to me. The Margherita, specifically. It was a medium sized, six-slicer with crispy crust and fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. I was more than happy to annihilate the entire pie in one sitting, with an accompanying local microbrew (of course) before happily heading back to my hotel for the night. Cool spot.

Pizza was fresh and they had a gluten free option- a 10" individual pizza. Food was quick and perfectly crisp. Ambiance was darker and bar-like and probably not the best to take the family. Waitress was also a little awkward and blunt and we wished she would have been better to make the experience more enjoyable. Bar looked extensive, though we didn't have anything to drink. Off the beaten path, right across from the gum wall, and apparently a local favorite.

Wait staff is extremely friendly, as expected. Food was good -- nothing fancy or over the top bougie on the menu. Pizza, dip, charcuterie, and bruschetta. I'd order all of these again.

To be fair, this wasn't my first choice for pizza in the area or dinner that night. The pizza place I wanted to go to was closed before our show got out and the place I wanted to eat at wasn't open. By the time, we found the Alibi Room (can you say turn left instead of right?), I was quite cranky despite having seen a brilliant show at the Triple Door because I'd only eaten a little so that I could save myself for my original dining place. What with getting lost trying to find it and the hour growing late, I really didn't care what was put in front of me. I was pleasantly surprised to find generally nice staff (wasn't a fan of my first bartender) but our second (quite possibly the owner - if so, thank you). They had Myers Rum which is always important to me and they had pizza that was quite good. I let mine sit a little too long because I was still getting over being cranky and so it got a little mushy. I loved that they served the pizza on a large can of Lindsay olives (my fave); it was a homey, down to earth touch. I believe the thin crust pizza would have been crispy had I not waited and the topping choices were numerous. The only recommendation I would make would be to have a crumbled pork sausage (with the rosemary and sage) that wasn't spicy. I love spicy but sometimes I'm not in the mood and I'm not a fan of chicken sausage which is why I didn't try that as an option. We had a meatball, green bell pepper and onion pizza and it was all flavorful - from the crust, to the sauce, to the toppings. The drinks were generously poured and our second bartender was very congenial. The bathrooms were clean but I felt like I was going to get mugged going into the basement! It felt a bit like a dark parking garage. The bar/restaurant was clean with a hipster vibe (gen-x and y cartoon paintings on the wall). I liked that it felt dark and cozy. I like dark and cozy in a bar. Since most of the time when I go to Seattle, I'm in the central downtown area, I'll be back.

A friend of mine who lives in Seattle suggested this place and luckily for us it was just down the street from our hotel. A quick walk down towards the Pike Place Market and we strolled into the Alibi Room, after snapping a quick picture at the gum wall. The place is dimly lit but very enjoyable and loved all the reggae tunes that happened to be playing. The atmosphere was great and everyone seemed to be enjoying their time and we were doing the same. Enjoyed a good Moscow mule and had a pretty tasty beer too. The pizza was really good and look forward to coming back and enjoying a few others.

Love this place. Friendly little hidden secret. Great drinks and simple and tasty food. Perfect for after a quick shop through the market (can be thirsty work) or for a few drinks before comedy across the alley. Either way, or if you are just there to see the horrible gum wall, pop in and be made welcome.

Gluten free! Gluten free! Plus +++++ music, ambiance, staff!!! This place has everything we want. Pizza, people, music, ambiance tasty food. If anyone isn't happy after leaving here, then their opinion isn't worth shit, so ignore it. How this place doesn't pop up not only as the gf place to be but THE PLACE TO be idk. It's a killer spot don't hesitate!

The bar area (ground level) is dark but cool. The "club" area is a tiny downstairs place where Seattle people should really really not try to dance to hip hop. Seriously, stop it.

In SEA for another visit. We invited some well-traveled relations to meet us at the Alibi Room....after watching Seahawks thump the Panthers. They regularly travel to SEA and dine out often. Needless to say, our "off beat" restaurant didn't disappoint. Another excellent meal. The build your own (mine with truffle oil base) as well as the Margherita pizzas were excellent...Moscow Mules...in copper cups no less great brews... Didn't visit the, apparently newly opened, downstairs...where the kegs were once stored...however, from the cacophony, folks were having a splendid time. Kudos to both chefs working the evening of 10/01/15...you rock!!!

Decent happy hour and ok food but the customer service was far less than subpar. Killed the experience. The environment was chill though -- may consider drinks at the bar in the near future but that will be about as far as that goes.

Seems like a secret spot, across from the nasty ass gum wall. Maybe this is psychological priming, and any restaurant that has such a lovely entrance is percieved better? Well it worked. Try the camboozla or cambajama or something cheese and baked garlic. It is so delicious I have ordered 2. And I am not a big eater. This is some crazy made up cheese that only exists in Post Alley? Like from Gringott's Creamery? Service is a bit gruff, but my drinks were full and I never went dry. My eyes were also rolling back in my head due to the cheese and garlic, however.

Hidden in Post Alley just by the gum wall, Alibi Room has a slight feel of a speakeasy. Show up late at night for a calm night at the bar - good drinks, great food! The calzones look phenomenal, but I went with the spicy mac & cheese and was verrrrrry pleased with that decision! Four stars for the food and ambience... service needs some improvement though!

Lived in Seattle for all my life and ashamed to admit yesterday was my first time at the AR. Tucked away and very cozy on a mellow Friday night. My friend and I shared a sausage and peppers pizza. I tried so hard to stuff the whole thing in my mouth - so good!!! Our server was great and kept checking on us constantly. Definitely will be coming back soon.

Even though the waitress is never very nice to me - I think that's part of the charm about this literal 'hole in the wall' bar that is one of my Seattle favorites. The flatbread/pizza is great, and if you have visitors they get to check out the gum wall on the way in. Standard Seattle bar style beer selection. Cool crowd there usually.

The first bar we could find where we could escape the hoards of people licking the gum wall just outside...yikes! We just wanted to sit down for drinks, so we just sat at the bar. There was one bartender working and it was close to impossible to get her attention - I understand she was tending to the whole restaurant but it was frustrating nonetheless. My husband wondered if we needed a special invitation to get service to the place because the two of us and other guy at the bar were not getting it. Anyhow, drinks were stiff and she ended up being super-friendly after all once we got served. The whole look of the bar is also really cool...reminds me of a speakeasy or something of the sort. I'd probably go here again but I'd sit down and eat next time around.

Hidden across the alleyway of the infamous gum wall is the ever-so-chill Alibi Room! I love everything about this bar - from the super chill and loungey vibe, to the variety of beers on tap and cocktails, to the artwork! It wasn't that busy for a Thursday night during my last visit, which I appreciated - as I could enjoy some good conversations and catch up with friends that live in the area. I have always been solely on the "liquid diet" during my visits at the Alibi so I can't verify the food stuffs, although the pictures of the pizza look pretty tasty! I'll have to remember this for my next visit! The drinks came out as fast as I could drink 'em and our bartender / waiter was very friendly and chill. If you find yourself down in the Pike's market scene and wanting a good drink away from the crowds, this is your spot! Cheers!

I was in Seattle for work and after a week of high-end dining and drinking, all I wanted was a really good, local beer and some tasty grub. I was at the market and entered the local used/new bookstore... I chatted up the cashiers and asked if they had a suggestion for local beers nearby. At first they suggested Pike Place Brewing but admitted the food was garbage. Then, one of them perked up, "Alibi Room! Just cross the street, go down the alley, turn left, there's a wall of gum and the door to the place is on the right." Uhm. Okay. It was everything I wanted and then some. it was dark. The Knife was playing over the speakers. I happened to come during Happy Hour where beers were $4 and apps were nearly half-price. I chose the olive and sun dried tomato tapenade and a winter ale to start with. Delish. Then I moved onto a chicken and artichoke-stuffed calzone. My mouth waters at the thought of it. My waitress was super attentive and sweet. When I was unsure of what beer to get, she brought me samples of two to try. As the evening wore on, the place started to fill up - I'm not sure about dancing here.... where would you dance? It's small. But I am sure about the laid-back awesomeness and the alley of street art leading up to it all. I'd highly recommend Alibi Room for some realness when in Seattle. Get some pizza, drink a lager, relax next to some candle light and soak it all in.

Fun, dim, small bar that serves food. I didn't eat but did have a Moscow Mule. Very good. I also enjoyed the music selection. On the way down to the place there was a big gum wall. That was interesting but not appetizing. LOL! All in all I did really like this bar.

I thought the food prices were a bit much, especially pizza. We did have the spicy mac n cheese which was freaking delicious. It definitely has a bit of a divey feel which is cool, but I think that's why I was surprised by the prices. The drinks were very well priced however. I wasn't wow'ed by my customer service experience. Our waitress was a little too aloof for my taste. It certainly wasn't a bad experience, just not a great one either.

Alibi Room is a good place to duck away from the crowds and grab a drink. The server was friendly and chatted with some cool folks on vacation at the bar. The beer selection could be better, but hear they make a good cocktail. I also can't speak for the food but the pizza looked really good. They could use one TV for whatever sports game is on. Bonus points for playing 90s alternative music.

The Alibi Room is tucked away in Post Alley. The room has a nice open feel to it. This was a Thursday lunch (1 pm). The place was pretty empty. The server was prompt, professional, and polite. The pies came out pretty quickly but were obviously freshly made. The pizza margherita pizza was very good. tinyurl.com/c459yjv The grapes and blue cheese (Fresh purple grape halves roasted, with blue cheese, arugula, and balsamic reduction) was truly amazing. tinyurl.com/botwasb Nice place all around. I am not sure why it isn't a little busier. I would definitely go back.

The place to be, anytime The Alibi first sparked my attention as it shares the same name as the bar in one of my favorite shows (Shameless) after having heard such great things about the Alibi. So when my birthday came around the perfect opportunity arose Located right in the heart of pike place, Just follow the neon sign and there it is/ tucked away in the perfect way. Oh and right across from the gum wall if i might add. So far, location is on point. As you walk in the whole place is dimly lit and slow rock and upbeat tunes are playing. The bar stretches along one wall while small dark wooden tables fill the room that just have this essence and history of past diners, and wherever may have occurred within the restaurant. Even with the prefect ambiance to get the night started, or wind down, as much as the dim light added to the feel the candles weer not much help and I found myself using my phone to read the menu a huge faux pas when it comes to dining When it came to being served I do not think we could have had a better waitress and overall experience. Not only was she able to have the right amount of conversation and camaraderie but could sort of peg our age group she really nailed it. Then when my friends informed her that it was my birthday she attempted to see what the bartender could do, and I was able to get a free dink Without us even asking she offered to take a picture. While she really was great in every way, when we needed our check and had been waiting for a few minutes we could see her by the bar on her phone... Then of course there's the food. First I ordered a "Nightwatch" which I got free because it was my birthday and if you like lager style beers order this. It was o complimented the pizza and flatbread almost perfectly. That being said the pizza is the perfect kind for this place. I mean its not a true Neapolitan nor is it that thick commercial american style its somewhere in between with a thin but not cracker crust a light charred but still moderate toppings. Although there is a variety of choices when it comes to the pizzas, such as the Green Eggs and Ham However in order to keep it simple and agree went with the Classic, pepperoni, which was brick oven delicious. As for the cambozola and garlic flatbread well... This is something i have a bit of an infatuation with and will order where and whenever. Although it wasn't necessarily bad it was lacking. The cambozola was fine in fact there was quite a lot and it was pretty soft so that was a plus. However the garlic, for one there was only one bulb which was not the right amount considering the ratio of cheese and flatbread, an it want cut far enough down so retrieving the cloves was a hassle. Then there's the flabread. Typically flatbread is cut into squares or pizza like slices. However this was cut into thin strips which made spreading the cheese and garlic rather difficult. Ultimately I fell in love with, and will without a doubt return to The Alibi, I can only hope that these minor flaws are fixed because its whats keeping them from that extra star.

We ordered the mushroom pizza and the andouille sausage pizza; both were tasty. Unfortunately I am on my second day of food poisoning due to the mushroom pizza. No one who ate the andouille pizza got sick, but those who ate the mushroom pizza have angry digestive systems. Will not visit this establishment again.

I end up here for happy hour quite a bit, and that's ok by me, because the happy hour menu is pretty great. Good drinks and good pizza. My only complaints are that the music can be a little too loud to talk over and sometimes, it smells a bit funky in there.

Came here once upon a time for dancing after seeing the numerous 4 star ratings. It was a strange and confusing awkward experience. My friends all agreed it was like a trip back to middle school dances where no one really knows how to get down to the music (could not identify any of the songs) and no one is really dancing. Don't come here for that. Get yourself a seat with a beer and some pizza to really enjoy the Alibi Room. Grape with gorgonzola and balsamic may seem like a weird combination but it really works. (Though the balsamic reduction got a little sticky/messy). I also enjoyed the bacon blue with caramelized onions. The salty bacon, creamy cheese, and sweet onions were perfectly matched. Pair it with a local brew and you've got a pretty nice night. Love the low lighting and brick walls and art work. Cozy and hip. Decent beer selection representing/highlighting/featuring some local brews like Ninjinsky, Elysian, Mac and Jack's, Manny's..

Came here for the first time for a lunch with some co-workers and was impressed! The space is a little hard to find, but you can find it tucked away behind the gum wall. I tried their lunch-hour pizzas and loved every bite of it. I had their meat-lovers and it was the perfect size for lunch and came with a side salad. Pair that with their seasonal draft and I had a solid lunch outing. I'll be back!

The Alibi Room is in a fantastic location, tucked deep inside Post Alley in Pike Place across from the Gum Wall. You really can't find a place with a more interesting location. The restaurant itself is dark, small, and loud. The food is good but took about three times as long as I'd have liked it to. The wait staff was pretty much nonexistent so if you're wanting drinks while you wait for your food you might have to fend for yourself at the bar. I probably wouldn't take someone here who I wanted to show a good Seattle experience.

Stopped by here before seeing a show at Unexpected Productions ( yelp.com/biz/unexpected-… ). But this review is for the Alibi Room and not UP. Our bartender was legit. Spoke with us enough to feel like regulars, but not so much that we couldn't visit. I had a Moscow Mule (fantastic!), and Ryan had the Alibi Special (shot of whiskey and a Miller High Life). Our bartender said the happy hour is pretty awesome. We will have to come back and check for ourselves!

This is a great happy hour spot. It's in the Market, but doesn't seem to attract a lot of tourist attention, or maybe I'm not aware of it, but it does have a "secret clubhouse for locals" feel about it, and it's a relief to find such spots under the big clock, and within yards of gumwalls and flying salmon exhibitions. The $6 "mini-pizza" is a proper meal-sized pizza, if you ask me, larger than the dinner-sized plate it sat on, and well appointed with ham and pineapple, in my case. Happy hour pints are $4, also a good value. A cold beer and a tasty pizza for $10 - such a deal. I love the dark, intimate feel of the place as well. Very hard to read in there, is the only problem.

I love this place. I went there for lunch one day. Its about 10 feet from the most touristy part of Seattle, but once you step foot in there, you'd never know. The pizza is really good and made with high quality ingredients. The day light coming in from the windows creates a nice mood. They were playing Black Keys, which is good pizza and beer music.

You're in Seattle... its cold.. you're surrounded by tourists... you're dodging flying fish.... you're stuffed to the gills with seafood, both raw and cooked.... you're looking for some time to yourself, of a more inebriated persuasion.. then... you fell down the stairs and peeled yourself off the wall of gum to find yourself outside a seemingly small venue filled with dark corners promising alcoholic oblivion. But if you want wake up from paradise, they also serve food. ;D

The food was delicious, the service simply adequate, and the "night club" scene was...not really there. We had planned to have dinner and then stay for dancing. Dinner was delicious; we had the focaccia & cambonzola to start (the focaccia is toasty and flavorful, and the roasted garlic melts on your tongue; the tomato, basil and cheese also pair well), and then split a spicy mac & cheese and a goat cheese, prosciutto, & arugula pizza. The mac & cheese definitely had a kick, which I really appreciated, and the tomato-based sauce doesn't get overwhelmingly creamy. The pizza was similarly tasty; the crust is crisp and even though it's a little thing, I appreciate that the arugula is diced up and not just splattered on your pizza - it's hard to eat whole leaves of arugula in tiny bites. The cocktails that we ordered were good (a Fresca hmm that was refreshing and light, a cucumber fizz that the boy liked, and a whiskey something that the boy also liked). The server accidentally heard "Diet Pepsi" instead of "Jack and Coke" when I ordered my second drink though, which confused me (we figured this out upon sipping the disgusting Pepsi-colored drink and looking at the bill later), and wasn't frequently present throughout the entire night, though she was friendly enough when she was. When we got downstairs (around 10:30 or so), there were some people halfheartedly attempting to dance, and more people standing around looking cool with drinks in hand. We left. Thus, for the restaurant aspect, four stars. For the nightclub life, (there's not really a dance floor, just a space between the downstairs bar and the lounge booths/chairs) two stars. We'll split the difference.

Just a crummy dive bar on bubblegum alley about sums it up. What's not to like? Somehow after swearing off Pike Place, we end up coming here every year. Battling with the hawkers, grunge leftovers, hippie freaks and vagrants, one can build up an awful thirst. Skip the tourist joints and head straight to the Alibi. The beer is cold enough and the food is amazingly excellent. Looking forward to my next trip to Pike's. Do some battling, grab a Daily Dozen and heading to the Alibi.

I've been here twice now and very pleased. Their pizza is delicious and I was a huge fan if the Caprese salad, which normally I would have nothing to do with. The atmosphere is killer, small, dark, cool, the one part of Pike Place that ISN'T crawling with tourists, as it's very easy to miss the entrance.

Following a meaty lunch and a brisk walk through Pike's Place Market, we decided it was drink o-clock. Thanks to the trusty yelp app on the iphone, we were able to access our bookmarks and realized that Alibi Room was near Pike's Place Market. I can see how this place can be hit or miss since its smack dab in the middle of tourist-ville, but we definitely hit it up at a great time. Alibi Room was super hard to find, hidden away in a dark alleyway, we had to ask a nice gentleman from one of the markets who escorted us down to where it was located. Down under Pike's Place Market, it's located right across the alley from the infamous gum wall! We sat down for a few minutes and the chef told us that the bartender would be right with us. The bartender was great, sold Phil on a Manny's draught and I decided on a delicious, summery drink, that I couldn't resist, called the Cucumber Cooler, made with gin of course. The atmosphere is lovely, very dark and sultry, with a lot of exposed brick. AR would definitely make for a great date or dinner spot. We didn't try any of the food, but the menu looks good boasting abundant pizza and salad options, and a famous spicy macaroni and cheese dish. Thank you for the yummy cocktails! We then proceeded to go drunk shopping and I scored two pair of flats from Banana Republic for $45!

This was a nice chill lounge, directly across from the Gum Wall. I can't really speak for what the inside of the bar area looks like because my friends and I headed straight through to a downstairs area, where old kung fu movies are playing on a flat screen and the seating is rather intimate - you're basically sitting back to back on a big bench with people at the next table over. The drinks are good and strong. I had 5 Grey Goose vodka sodas and my friends had a number of Jack and Cokes, and we probably would have been completely trashed had it not been for the pitchers of ice-cold water and abundance of plastic cups at one end of the bar. I don't think there was a DJ that night, although I saw a pair of turntables actually right there behind the bar. If I ever come back to Seattle again I would totally come here on a night they had actual music playing. I like chill places like this. No dress code, no cover when we went. Even better!

I never know where to go downtown. Often times the food down there is horrible. Especially where most the tourists are. But this place is an exception. Doesn't disappoint. Good pizza, and really good mac and cheese. I hear it's haunted. which doesn't surprise me.

I started out with a whiskey sour- super reasonably priced and it tasted perfect, so good I had two. For dinner, I had a calzone with mushroom and olives. In hindsight, I should have gotten some sort of meat in it to add extra flavor, but it was good regardless, the crust being especially good. My boyfriend got a chorizo and potato pizza, and it was good, although not our cup of tea as it lacked sauce, which we both prefer in excess. This wouldn't have been bad if their marina sauce was a little better. To me, it tasted like tomato sauce without any seasoning. Nevertheless, a fun experience with friendly staff.

Came here with classmates from UW at the recommendation of those in the Seattle area. It also helped that it was within walking distance of Puget Sound Plaza, where we had met. I didn't pay much attention to the setting or the menu, as the main purpose of the outing was to get to know each other and talk about our studies, but I remarked the location down a dimly lit alley in Pike's Plaza and the darkish interior. On a moody day, this would be quite the place to hang out. The food was very good - we ordered the bacon & caramelized onion pizza, which we split between a smaller group of 3 or 4. It is a square pie - definitely wasn't anticipating that form. Others which I'd had liked to try were the goat cheese, prosciutto and arugula, the chorizo and potato, and the Andouille sausage and peppers pizzas. Some had beer, but I went with just water if I recall correctly. They do have a large selection of beers though. Prices are not bad for downtown Seattle; the tab grows quickly for a large group, FYI.

Cool little hole in the wall place near the gum wall! Dark, dim, comfortable atmosphere with awesome drinks and pizza. There is a cool private dance area below too. If your showing your friends or family around seattle and happen to be near the gum wall, swing on by to this place and have a drink and pizza!

There is an absolute dearth of decent happy hours in downtown Seattle. After a year of working near Pioneer Square, I thought I had tried it all and mentally stamped everything with 2-3 stars. Then my coworker found the Alibi Room on Yelp. Across from the Gum Wall, you say? Intriguing. Not too crowded, charmingly dark ambiance, drafts for $3.50, Elysian IPA (!), Fremont Winter Ale (!!), and $5 pizza. Sold.

The drinks here are amazing. I especially liked the "hey how bout a fresca hmmmm" (I'm preety sure that's exactly what its called). The downstairs got a little bumpin for me, but I'm kind of an old lady in that respect.

Love this place! I've been living in Seattle for a little over a year now and have been quite underwhelmed by the clubs that I've been to. I haven't yet walked into a place and felt the immediate urge to get my dance on immediately. Not so with the Alibi Room! After grabbing a quick drink at the bar I was already boogie-ing on the floor. They didn't mind that my sisters & I were dancing on the back counters during the entire time we were there, too. This is a perfect place to go for a girls' night out. I also love that it's kind of hidden under the Pike Place Market and is right by the Gum Wall. Very Seattle. Will definitely be back!

This wonderful hidden place has the most underrated pizza in Seattle. The crust is fluffy and light, and the topping are very high quality. I recommend the truffle pizza. Service can be a little slow, but who cares. Get a gin and tonic, or a bottle of wine, grab some friends, and enjoy!

In Seattle, visiting from PDX. Locals suggested we drop by Alibi. Fun place to get your happy hour on. Tasty pizza, great service by Randy the bartender, friendly crowd. We'll definitely come back next time we're in town.

It's nice to go to a place in the Market where I didn't feel like a tourist. Most people don't head down into Post Alley, but it's a gem of a place. The Alibi Room had a great selection of wines (even though it's not touted as a wine bar) and the pizza pies hit the spot. I really enjoyed the Tre Fungi pizza pie. The value wasn't bad, I have to say. For $13 or so, the woodfired delights were more than enough for 2-3 peeps per pie. Good times. The atmosphere was great too. Since the downstairs of the Alibi Room is the designated space for 'loud', it made conversation upstair completely doable and pleasant. I will actually go back...and might even take a tourist or two.

I went to this place twice during my visit to Seattle. I love this place. I like that it's not a bar just for drinks. I love the wide selection of items on their food menu. Their pizzas are great and reasonably priced. I especially love their friendly staff. The first time I went, I sat at the counter. I forgot the bartender's name, but he said he was from Hawaii. He was very cool and super friendly. He made sure my class was never empty of my diet coke. Hannah was our waitress when I went there for dinner with another person and sat at a table. She was very attentive and friendly. Ask her about her cute boys and her passion for photography. I just really liked the liveliness of this place. I feel like this is a place where everyone there knows your name if you are a regular and the staff places your order for you before you even actually have to order. I'll be sure to visit this restaurant again next time I am in Seattle.

This is my favorite place to grab a great pizza at a great price. No doubt about it. The only caveat is that you should make sure Rich is the chef baking your pie. Just ask the bartender if he is working. Trust me, if he is not turn around a go elsewhere. For some reason, he is the only guy there who can deliver the goods and provide a consistently great pizza. The bar has an average choice of local brews, stuff out of the Ballard / Fremont area.

When the clock strikes five, I'm normally on the run for the first bus out of downtown. That was until I was introduced to the Alibi Room. The Alibi Room is an easy to miss gem of a bar tucked behind the Market and across from the gum wall. It's an escape from the busyness of the market and your work place. The dimly lit interior, the dark wood tables and friendly barkeep create just the right environment that make me want to sit back and savor my beer. Alibi Room, it was nice to meet you. I just may have to start catching a later bus.

Alibi Room - possibly the best drinking establishment in the market. The service is always fantastic and the atmosphere makes me feel: romantic, pensive, thirsty and .... "so much for the afterglow". If you miss out on the Green Eggs and Ham pizza - then you may as well just buy a minivan, because your life has officially passed you by. I refuse to eat pizza now unless it has a fried egg on it. And pesto... served atop a giant can of olives. We like to go here pre-showbox and I recommend you do the same. PS: No offense about the minivan

Where can you get $3 pints and a huge variety of munchables for $5 each (Including chili mac, a hand-tossed wood fired pizza with 2 toppings, olive tapenade and pita wedges, and lots more)? Right around and down from the brass pig at Pike Place Market, that's where! Wandering down the alley, you have the infamous gum wall on your left and on your right, tucked away is the cozy, hip Alibi Room, a perfect place to go for happy hour, for you alone or with a couple friends to enjoy a warm, dimly-lit ambiance, background music, and outstanding food. I don't care for bars and this place has more of a swanky feel without any pretentiousness. All are welcome and I've seen people from 21-91 enjoying themselves, a cold pint of beer, and sharing a pizza with toppings like andouille sausage and basil. What's not to like? To get to the bathroom, you have to go down a long set of stairs into a basement where the bathrooms are shared with another establishment.

Great ambience and very accommodating for large groups with such a tiny space. Pizza is delish and served up on a wooden cutting board which is held up by a large can of olives. Great hidden spot for a date or get a good feel for Seattle chill night life.... drinks are good and moderately priced. go during the day to get half off your pizza!

Was really hard to find, but worth the search. I walked back and forth around the Pike Market area and Post Alley, in the rain, fending off a lot of fairly aggressive homeless folks, to find the Alibi Room. So, by the time I got there, I was wet and grumpy. This place turned my mood around pretty quickly. The waitstaff were friendly and attractive--I love tattooed women--and brought me out a great cocktail. I was alone but ordered the classic pizza, which is enough for 2 people and made for a nice breakfast in my hotel room the next morning. Crispy crust but soft in the middle, fresh ingredients. Had a different cocktail, which tasted as good as the first. The feel of the place is pretty laid back--brick walls, dark lighting, and small and cozy. Definitely a place I'll go back to when next my work brings me to Seattle.

Our new fav'es place. We really can't speak better things about this restaurant/bar/lounge. We even got the lucky chance to meet the owner/manger of the restaurant...Corey....what a great host. Romantic.....Candle light.....and even sparkles a little magic in our marriage...really been married 7-8 years! It is tucked into a hidden alley in Seattle...which is actually the most photographed area in Seattle...Even Jennifer Anniston filmed her newest movie next to the gum wall and the Alibi Room.... We enjoy the drinks and pizza. (Woodfired/Kiln)........They stir a stiff and tasty cocktail here......and the service is fantastic.....If I want to get lucky....I'll bring my girl here....and the sparks fly! Enjoy - a local recommendation. This is a must place to a visit to Seattle. Just don't tell anyone......I don't want the secret to get out! Oh and it rains every day here in Seattle, Sideways :) HE HE...That's what we tell tourists/people to keep Seattle from losing its charm!

neat place, friendly service, moderate to low prices, location/ambiance. Please know that this is a pizza place down this neat road near the gum wall/pike market. We had the apple/honey/brie app and I didn't love it. We then shared two pizzas between three of us and left with leftovers to give to the semi-aggressive homeless in the hood. The chicken/jalapeno was good but didn't have much of a kick. I actually pulled more cilantro than spice from this. It was great but not what I expected. The other pizza was goat cheese, proscuitto and arugula. It was also very nice and had a nice garlic content. There was only one server for the entire room and it was busy. She did very, VERY well and held her composure. Pro: service, neat ambiance, the gross gum wall Mod: dark, limited menu Con: smell (there is something about the restaurants in this area--the three I was in had a nasty, borderline spunk smell)

Service was OK, but none too friendly. Food was fairly tasty, but was a big grease fest. Worst of all, I bit into something hard like a small piece of glass or something. I told the bartender and I felt like he challenged me. He said 'where is it?' and I pointed to the pile of chewed pizza I had to spit out on my plate. No offer to comp bill, nothing. l thought the place sucked and got the impression that they cater to the 20-something crowd who don't mind the occasional piece of glass or excessive grease in their food, as long as it's cheap.

The Alibi Room has been a long time. How long, I can't say exactly. Anything older than ten years feels like a Seattle institution to me. I've come here a few times over the years and very little changes. Basically, just the art on the walls. This is actually a good thing. I liked the nineties, and the Alibi Room is definitely a product of it. It feels like Campbell Scott could have scarfed down some pizza here. As for the menu, they've got thin crust pizzas and a good selection of microbrews (does anyone even use that term anymore?). Service here is usually fine, with waiters both smart and dumb. No really, they have a dumbwaiter. Recommended.

The first thing that I observed after I opened the main door is the smell. I'm not sure if it's a "cheesy" smell or chlorine (like a cleanser or something). It was a turn-off at first but after few minutes, I was immuned to it. One other complaint is the noise. The room is so concentrated and it gets really loud. 2 ladies beside us are kind a tipsy and they laugh like HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Our table is also very small but that was fine. If you heard that this is a tourist trap, ignore it and I'm sure you'll have a great time. I won't bring my parents here though, it's too LOUD. If you are a tourist with parents and kids, venture somewhere else (I'm not pointing this in a negative way). Service is great and very good pizza. The drink I ordered (I forgot the name but I think it says like Seattle favorite or something) is also very refreshing. I'm making this 5 stars because I really like the interior. It reminds me of family owned tapa bars. We also had a great time.

My friend had the private room booked for her birthday party. It was a great set up, and there was a private bar too. But then there was this random fog machine... that just... fogged the entire room ever 20 minutes. It was a little odd. It's also a bit loud. But apparently around 11/12 at night, it's the place to be, because that private room downstairs turns into a mini club.

I've never eaten here before but have been in for drinks. I order top shelf stuff so drinks are good. Atmosphere? Well, you go here knowing you are sort of in the bowels of the market and that is part of it. There was a time you couldn't see for all the smoke. I'm pretty sure it's not the cleanest place I've been either but our server was courteous, prompt and helpful. I've heard the pizza is good and should have had one. I ordered bruschetta and it was fishy tasting and so bad with whitish-pink tomatoes. We didn't eat it. Not sure about the other menu items but I'll stick to drinks.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would! Worst service I've ever had. We went here on a suggestion from a local and had high hopes because all of her other suggestions had been on point. We were given a bad seat and when we asked if we could move, we were told no. Our waitress walked past us several times without making any contact. When she did find us she gave us good tips on drinks. We placed our order for 2 beers and decided to wait on food because the menu didn't look that great. After 10 minutes we still hadn't gotten our drinks and there was no sign of our waitress. After 15 we still hadn't seen her. The place was about half full and not busy so there was no excuse. We finally decided to leave after waiting about 20 minutes. The person at the door was too busy on his phone to even notice people coming in or out. No impressed and I will be letting others know not to waste their time.

My friend and I went here for dinner on a busy Saturday evening. I had a really hard time locating the place and luckily stumbled upon it. But if you make it around the alley bend and find it-GO THERE. It's pretty small and cozy so it was super full. We sat at the bar area and ordered food instead of waiting for a table but were perfectly comfortable people watching up there. The pizza was where it was at! I had the Sausage and Basil pizza and it was pretty spectacular! I really liked the atmosphere of this place.

Really great thin crust pizza. And not too shabby of a bar as well. Fair warning, these pizzas look bigger than you think. For 3 of us, we mistakenly ordered our own pizzas and could barely finish 2 of them. I recommend ordering 2 pizzas for every 3 people. The pizza menu itself is varied with unique offerings like "Green Eggs and Ham". This particular pizza has pesto, ham, and cracked eggs on the crust. The atmosphere was real chill and laidback. It's the perfect spot for a date. It was like an intimate pizza bar. I also liked that it was in an alley across from the famous gum wall at Pikes Market.

Whoa, there's a whole other room downstairs! And it's private and has its own bar! Why did no one tell me this? The Alibi Room was generous enough to host and cater a party for the Seattle Symphony's Wolfgang group this last weekend, and they really went above and beyond. The spread was spectacular - pizzas, veggies and hummus, different breads and desserts - and the bartender working the bar was really friendly and chatty. The room was the perfect size for our group of 30 or so people, but could have benefited from a few well-placed chairs to supplement the big booths. The next time anyone needs a private room for a party I will definitely direct them to the Alibi room but I'll be sure to let them know to stay on the lookout for the naked old man that likes to walk in front of the window directly across. Creepy...

The Alibi Room is great. It's like venturing into a lost restaurant/bar that is hidden in the bowels of Pike Place. In a dark, gum-filled alley, you will find a door that leads into this great gem of an establishment. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by bookshelves of old, original scripts that used to be performed by the theater that once existed in the alleyway. There is a quiet, old-time feel to Alibi and being inside feels fantastic. They have good beers and great food. Happy hour is a great time to go eat and drink if you are able to. Happy hour is from 3pm - 6pm Monday through Thursday and 12pm - 6pm Friday through Sunday. You can get $3 drafts, $4 wells, and $5 foodstuffs. I ordered the white bean hummus, which was incredible, and it came with pita, cucumber, and tomato. Others ordered the pizza, which was also extremely tasty. They have a full menu of vegetarian selections as well as meat product. The mini pizzas are a great deal for happy hour. You can build your own or trust the restaurant! I had a wonderful experience spending time here.

Seth at the alibi room slung me a "guv'ner". It was bourbon and amareto and cinammon. Yeow! Find this man. Tip him well. And now he just served me a "grandhatten". I'm f*cked.

FABULOUS place to hold a party! Corey was simply amazing from our very first interaction with him as we planned a big (surprise) birthday party using the downstairs bar. Menu options, specialty cocktail for our birthday girl, décor suggestions - and way more "sure, yes" responses, than anything they said no to. And - the price - um, wow! No 'Tab minimum", no reservation deposit, no clumsy payment terms (yes, the "free" space that would otherwise be unused till 10pm is genius business, but they treat you like special guests every step of the way!). Dave ~ you are a master bartender and added to our party ~ thank you! I have coordinated and helped put on a ton of events, and this is - BY FAR - the easiest, friendliest, most organized venue I have ever worked with on a party! Thank you Alibi Room and Happy 40th KC!

My company reserved the downstairs room for a party we were having and couldn't have had a better experience. And I should say that THE ROOM WAS FREE!!! There was just a minimum order amount which we had no problem making, even though we had far fewer people show up than we anticipated. First, the reservation process was smooth as silk. I emailed back and forth with a gentleman named Corey who helped me with my order, and even suggested I cut back on my order (fewer big bowls of salad) saying that they would refill them throughout the evening if we needed more. No payments were required upfront, which was also nice since it was just one less logistic I needed to coordinate before the event. When we arrived, I met our fantastic bartender and host, Garrett. (Yes, the downstairs room has it's own fully stocked bar!). I can't say enough about how great he was throughout the evening. We had pre-ordered a TON of food but found out that they would make the pizzas as the night went on so that we wouldn't have to pay for our full pre-order unless we needed it. (We also had the option of ordering more than our pre-order if we needed it.) This was really a big help because as I said, we had far less people than we needed. Garrett was attentive to our food needs, drink needs, lighting, decor, helped get us a knife and serving implements for a cake we brought, etc. He was fantastic. I'm feeling a little bad because I think I may have under-tipped him at the end of the night. My math is not great. I think I gave him 18%, but would have liked to have given him more. I would HIGHLY recommend the Alibi Room for your private party or event. Fantastic place, fantastic people!

On a Thursday night in Seattle, most things downtown close up shop by 10, which is really unfortunate for such a great city. The Alibi Room, however, is open late every night, with full food service right till the end. The atmosphere is pretty solid. Dark and comfortable, like a good bar should be, with classic Seattle touches like dark wood and industrial flourishes along the walls and ceiling. Service is quick and friendly. The food is completely nom-able and pretty cheap (I'm coming from DC, where you'd need to add $4 or $5 to everything on the menu). I had a pizza with roasted garlic and capers and was absolutely impressed with it. Beautiful wood-fired crust, perfectly melted cheese, a good sauce in between. The pizza was served in a great little visual joke, with a cutting board on top of a giant can of olives that serves as a stand. Practical for The Alibi Room and makes for a good conversation piece. My friend had their cajun mac and cheese, which was nice and spicy but perfectly baked and oh-so cheesy. Next time I'm in Seattle, I'll definitely be back at The Alibi Room (and on the way out you can take a picture with the gum wall!).

I celebrated my birthday here in August with 15 friends, and Alibi Room made it really special. We called the Monday before, and the owner/manager could NOT have been nicer on the phone. He totally set us up!! It was a busy Friday night, but in this intimate, dark restaurant, they gave us a wonderful spot for everyone seated together. The food was amazing--pizza and appetizers with BREAD (I loooove carbs, yes I do) and the salad with sweet dressing and nuts was awesome. The waitress was cool and casual, which I prefer to stuffed up and tottering on high heels (a a Joey's....). They also provided me with a beautiful cheesecake with a lit candle. (Cue the "awww..."). We did leave and danced the night away because they had some reunion party going on downstairs, but I wouldn't have minded checking out their dance floor if I had the chance.

Somethin about this place just gets my goat. The wife and I always make a point to stop by Alibi when we're in Seattle. The early afternoon ambiance, flavorful beers on tap, and fantastic lunch/happy hour menu just make the whole Pikes experience that much better. A great place to duck away from the madness. Last but not least, it was here that we found a piece of art hanging that now hangs in our living room in San Diego. Made by none other than the talented Brooke Westlund ( brookewestlund.com ).

This was my second dinner at Alibi. The first time, I thought it was just ok but with my friends telling me I must have gone on an "off night", I decided to give it another try. Our group was rather large so 18% gratuity would be added whether we liked it or not. We ordered around 10 pizzas at our table and cocktails were flowing. Let me start by telling you about my pizza. The one I shared was the goat cheese, prosciutto, arugula. The sauce was thick and abundant (maybe too abundant), the goat cheese, prosciutto and arugula (looked like baby basil leaves) were hard to spot in the midst of the sauce. Basically, I felt like I was eating pizza crust dipped in sauce. Now for the service, although she made attempts at kindness, she was generally intolerant of our party. Our party was not the easiest to deal with because we were large, however, we were polite and patient. The service was a topic of conversation for our group for the remainder of the evening. It wasn't my favorite before but now it's somewhere I'm going to try to avoid whenever possible.

Very fun place right across from the gum wall in the alley before Pike Place Market. Literally a hole in the wall!! I have passed by it often without ever realizing it was there. Good drinks, nice ambience, good pizza and a nice place to go after a concert at The Showbox (Last night it happened to be The Psychedelic Furs!) A little dark and gives you the feel of kinda like you're in a secret bar. Cool place!

Had a horrible experience at the Alibi Room this weekend. I was setting my beer on the table, and the glass SHATTERED. Mind you, I was not totally drunk and slamming it on the table, I put it down with average force and it shattered in my hand, so I had glass all over my jeans and flip-flopped feet, was soaked with beer, and was now gushing blood from my fingers. An employee from the Alibi came to clean up the mess and offered me two band aids. As I was walking down to the bathroom to clean up, I heard him say "That's happened a couple times today!" Time to invest in some sturdier glasses, man!!!

When Pikes Place Market is dark and empty, the party is secretly happening at Alibi. It is like going to a private club. The upstairs has seating and the downstairs is a dance floor on Friday and Saturday nights. I don't think I have ever had to pay cover. I was pleasantly surprised by how good their pizza is. The fresca drink is tasty and a perfect way to start the night before dancing.

I was lucky enough to try this place last week when a couple of my BFFs were visiting. I am SO GLAD that I did! We went on a Friday night and we had no lofty ideas that we would be seated right away or anything. They took our name and number and we walked around the market for awhile, which is pretty charming at night even though its closed. We were seated about an hour later and what really stood out to me about this place was the front of the house (who turned out to be the owner!), Corry. I am such a fan of his. Just great customer service all the way around and I knew I would be returning instantly. If your in the mood for drinking go for the Gin Fizz and the Fresca, they will not disappoint. The prices are so reasonable here that I almost felt like I was being punked or had suddenly lost the ability to read correctly. One of their pizzas will easily feed two, and they are SO GOOD. If my life were a sitcom this would totally be my nightly hang out. I heart you Alibi Room ( + Corry of course)

Probably my favorite place that we went to while in Seattle! It is a good idea to go during happy hour because the pizza's are half price. I went with my friend Keith and we got the hummus for an app, a few drinks and the Andouille Sausage & Cherry Pepper za! Nom nom nom it was soo yummy. I highly reccomend it.

Of all the places I hit in Seattle this time I liked this the most, so it gets my 5 star review for the trip. Reasonably quick service on a Friday afternoon. Had a tough choice between the Locks (no I'm not misspelling that) and the grape and blue, went for the Locks. Will get the grape and blue next time, and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

You walk into a pretty dark, small bar that's only found if you can notice the small, small, ..really small sign before the door. It's like the best-kept secret of the typically-tourist ridden [no offense] Pike Place Market. Inside you really don't feel so odd in your own city anymore. There's a sizeable bar, a downstairs dance floor, and a guy tossing pizza dough beside a fire oven, wildly a-blaze. They have many signature cocktails, plenty of brews on draught, and bottles of everything in between. Pull up a chair, enjoy the libations, and stay long enough for a pizza to share with a friend. I wish I had. Alibi Room is awesome. It's true Seattle.

Happy Hour? Check. Good music? Check. Fabulous waitress? Check check! I take everyone here when they visit Seattle. I mean everyone. Boyfriend, parents, little sister, snooty friend, snazzy friend, etc. And they all loved it. The first time I went, the waitress sat a friend and I right away, and advised us to choose within the next ten minutes so we'd get the happy hour prices. How rad is that! The place reminds me of some of my favorite spots in Europe. It's dark and not pretentious at all. Just relaxed, with incredible brie, pizza, and bruchetta. The brie and honey plate is my favorite! It's not only the food that makes this place ideal, or the location (across from the gum wall in Pike's Place), but the whole ambiance. Heavy wooden tables, candles, great bar, large windows on one wall only. Pick a stormy afternoon and settle in for some great appetizers and pear cider. Yum! It's my go-to spot.

A recap of the our experience before and after Alibi Room... We stumbled upon the entrance to Post Alley on our way back to the hotel and we see the gum wall. A friend and I decide we're going to be cool and take ridiculous photos near the gum wall. We go into Alibi Room after we're done taking photos, go downstairs to see what is going on, G tries to close her umbrella by pressing it against a water glass (not sure this is exactly what she did), knocks the glass off the table, the glass breaks, the music stops, and someone in the distance says, "uh-oh!" We look at each other and run upstairs, insist on drinking a few more beers at the bar, then go home. We arrive back at the hotel and as G walks in, she slips on the hardwood floors and lands face down on the ground laughing. Words cannot describe how awesome this night was.

A great spot tucked away by the gum wall. Everything about this place was amazing. Beer had a great local selection, the food, probably the best pizza I have ever had. (Thank you Corey for the recommendation on the asparagus, bacon, and caper pizza. That pizza was so good! Unreal!) The staff was superb they really made a bunch of out of town guys feel like Alibi Room had always been their local. And it defiantly would be if I lived out there.

I spent a fair amount of time investigating reasonably priced places in downtown Seattle where the food was good as was the "pre-going out" atmosphere for a Saturday night as the last time I was in town my boyfriend and I must have walked ten blocks looking for a place where the entrees weren't $20+ and settled for a cheesy seedy seafood place that was near empty on a Saturday night. I found the Alibi Room on yelp, the menu appealed to me and the cost was about right. The pictures on the website looked inviting and it was near Showbox at the Market where we were headed. We had dungeoness crab dip and I think caprese pizza. The pizza was FANTASTIC - no skimping on the meat. The crab dip was kind of fishy to me but my boyfriend really liked it. I did find that for the States that the wine by the glass was pretty expensive; in Canada we pay $7-9 for a low-end house wine and it was the same there. I could be wrong but in my experience in the States it's usually around 5.50-6.00. The atmosphere was warm, inviting and trendy enough without being pretentious; the host had an excellent beard/moustache combo and he was a friendly face to welcome us at the door. The location is nice too for us tourists; in Post Alley I think which is right downtown. All and all I really enjoyed it, the prices were reasonable, food was great and I will definitely be back again the next time I'm in town!

I love this bar. I only found it by delivering alcohol here while working one of my many delivery jobs. Cool decor, good food, good drinks, and interesting people to watch. Showed up with a group of four, really busy, and still got us squeezed in. I love this bar!

You will have fun in Alibi room if you are with a group of close friends. Enjoy some delicious pizzas, good drinks, and go downstairs to dance the night away. Do not be alarmed by the small space of the dance floor or the seemingly lack of decor. The DJ is very good and the people are friendly, open, respectful, and unpretentious (yes a rare find). If you get tried of dancing, try two things: - Take a picture in front of the colorful and meticulously decorated wall;) - Watch the movies they show on the two TVs. The choice of movies is trippy, but awesome.

This place was a pretty chill place. I went for my friends birthday and it was definitely a good time. It's both a bar and downstairs is a dance club, although I didn't go there. The bar area is a super chill place and it wasn't a hassle at all to get my drinks on a Friday night. I do regret not getting a picture with the infamous gum wall but maybe next time I'll have to get the photo op. The inside is very urban and loft styled with exposed bricks and piping. Very industrial but modern. The beer selection is pretty good and reasonably priced. The people I was with were drinking nothing but cocktails so they must be made well and priced reasonably.

My experience at the Alibi Room this past Thursday night left me wondering one thing: Why do I not come here more often?! A friend and I met in the upstairs part of the restaurant/bar at around 8:30 pm and we received excellent service from matching blonde servers clad in black dresses. The Alibi Room offers a very nice selection of reasonably-priced wines by the glass, plus of course a full bar for those in the mood for cocktails. Diverse drink offerings seemed to attract a diverse crowd, as the clientele included eclectic 30-somethings and even a group of Teamsters out for an evening brew. I have to confess, I am not exactly a fan of pizza with tomato sauce (I know, I know... Boo! Hiss!) and I was THRILLED to see that Alibi Room's pizza offerings include a full list of traditional pies plus a whole other long list of non-tomato-sauce varieties. The revelation was as if the oven doors to Heaven had opened and a choir of artichoke angels began to sing. It was difficult to decide what to pick, but ultimately I went with a creation involving roasted red grapes, blue cheese, arugula, and a balsamic creation. Just excellent. In addition to loving the sans sauce line-up, I'm also a fan of Alibi Room's pizza crust...thin without being cracker-like, able to support toppings without being doughy. My only diss on Alibi Room is that with the doors to Post Alley open, the smell of cigarette smoke (from people who don't mind smoking while staring at a big wall o' chewed-up gum, apparently) wafts into the restaurant with abandon. I suppose I'm spoiled following Washington's no-smoking ban, but I wouldn't hate it if someone shooed away the puffers.

Alibi Room is a great place to grab a drink and bite to eat before a show. My personal favorite is any drink with ginger beer... "How Bout a Fresca, Hmm?" is pretty great too.

Looking for a place full of young people, but where you don't have to elbow your way to the bar and constantly hear the phrases "Here you go boss" or "Thanks, chief"? Alibi Room is for you. Came here to wind down our night in Seattle and ordered a pizza and a few beers. The place was crowded, but not too crowded with young folks. The atmosphere was loud, but still allowed for conversation. Enjoyed the pizza and the music. Did not get a chance to check out the downstairs lounge, but it seemed like people were enjoying themselves. The upstairs was the perfect place to grab a snack, while maintaining the semi-drunken social haze of the evening.

I have been here 3 times now. The food is really good. The service is HORRIBLE. They have a good happy hour... not great. The pizzas and cheese plate are good. The noise is bad because it is such a small area. The paintings on wall were different every time... that was cool. Biggest downfall is that the staff all sit and talk while ignoring the patrons... ALL THREE TIMES I WAS THERE. Wow.

Wow, this place is tucked away, isn't it? If my friends hadn't been there before, I'm sure I'd have passed it up a few times. Granted, that might be because I was too busy staring at the crazy gum wall to notice the sign, but still. Darn my heels & the stone street to get there, though. Won't be repeating that mistake! I wasn't sure what to expect here, but my friends said I'd enjoy it. Oh, they know me too well, indeed. And I'm with Rachel H. - great drinks & the fresca is outstanding! I could have had several of them & probably not noticed the alcohol... Well, until I tried to stand up & fell flat on my face because of the amount of booze they contained. Still yummy, though. I was also partial to the desserts since they serve some of the best key lime pie that has ever passed between my lips. It's thick, rich, creamy, & just tart enough to make me pucker a little. Oh, and the crust wasn't all crumbly & dry. It held the pie together just so & offered a nice texture contrast to the rest of it. I also got a taste of their tiramisu, which was lovely, too. I'm not usually big on coffee-soaked desserts, but the cake was extremely moist and the coffee wasn't over powering. I really liked the layout & ambiance, too. There was space at the bar, but we opted for a table in a dark corner. They have some cool art on the walls, too & I loved that it never got overly loud while we were there, despite the late hour. Our waitress was friendly & quick, but didn't bother us much once we were settled. That added to the laid-back vibe going around, which we appreciated. Without question, this is a repeat for me whenever I'm back in town.

The Alibi used to be where we'd meet up for a few drinks before moving on to another place. The back alley/speakeasy vibe always provided a fun kickoff for the evening, even though the late night scene wasn't really to my tastes at the time. These days, it provides more of a mid-afternoon hideaway when I feel like shirking work responsibilities. The sneaky entrance and low light still give it a kind of clandestine feel, especially when you couple it with the fact that you're likely to have the place to yourself before about 4pm. So if you're just looking to get away for a pint and maybe a snack with some colleagues, or a quiet place to read the paper over a cocktail, the Alibi is a great spot. Plus, they have the earliest happy hour I'm aware of in the West Edge area - starting at 3pm, pints are $3 and select menu items are only $5. Apart from that, their woodfired oven pizzas are worth the trip, offering a wide selection of standards and build-your-own options. The mid-afternoon service is usually just right - attentive enough to make you feel taken care of, but not so attentive you feel like you're being watched. While I can't really speak for the evening scene anymore, I'd definitely recommend the Alibi for a mid-late afternoon getaway. Added bonus: tourists don't seem to have discovered the Alibi yet, even though they frequently stand right outside to gawk at the gum wall.

It is very rare for me to give a bar 5 stars, but after almost a decade, time and time gain this place delivers! This is a Seattle classic in so many ways. Patrons here are from all walks of life, best random conversations with strangers have taken place here. Bartenders pretty much rock: welcoming, social and engaging. Great Happy hour, and you can't go wrong with any pizza on the menu, it's absolutely delish. Mac & Cheese for years was a staple here, they now have a spicy version that is equally flavorful. Plus, you can't beat taking drunken photos by the Gum Wall :-)

Had a pretty decent experience the very first time I came here. It was a bit difficult to find, hidden away in Pike Place Market, but that's what kind of added to the experience. Trying to find that tucked away secret promising a nice reward for your efforts in the end, and it did. There it was, right across from the gum wall. The second I entered, the bartender, Mitch, greeted me immediately and asked what I wanted to drink. Very friendly service. To make my first experience there even better, they gave one of my drinks to me for free! Talk about generous! To all who come here, I do recommend the Governor. You'll thank me later. When it comes to mixing drinks, these guys definitely know what they're doing. On a second visit, I decided this time to try one of their much-talked-about pizzas. After all that I've heard, I wanted to try something new and not just your standard, everyday pizza. After getting a recommendation, I went for the Green Eggs & Ham. Thank you to Dr. Seuss for inspiring the name, and thank you Alibi Room. That first bite was, simply put, delicious. Don't know how I can describe it better. Wonderful staff, great food, great drinks, and awesome atmosphere. To all who read this, just be sure to save me a seat at the bar on Thursday nights!

Five of us tucked into the Alibi Room around 8 pm on a Saturday to get some drinks and small bites. The atmosphere upstairs dining area is dark and comfortable and caters to everything! Downstairs is a bit smaller and little more swanky with a DJ spinning the beats and great cocktails being mixed. You must try the wedge salad and the roasted garlic and cambozola w/ foccacia bread. This place is a little hidden but a MUST find if you are near the Pike Place Market or just want to head down for some great food and cocktails. Happy hour from 3-6 during the week and 12-6 on the weekends! What's YOUR Alibi?

Finding this place was like a treasure hunt (when you see the giant wall of gum, turn around and there you are), and then trying to read the menu while our eyes adjusted to the darkness inside was another adventure. It took two margaritas for me to recover! The spicy mac-and-cheese was really delish. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Seattle just for that.

I would have never known this place existed until my friend showed me. It's hidden from the main streets. My friends and I came here right after work. We had a friendly server. I ordered a drink and bruschetta. It was a dark atmosphere....almost made me feel sleepy. My friend took me downstairs into the basement and showed me the dance floor area. It was early enough that it was empty. It's always nice to check out Seattle's old buildings. It had a quiet vibe. A lounge vibe. So don't bring your rowdy loud friends here straight after work. Take them to The Pike instead. I probably won't be back but it was a fun experience.

My first impression was it's very dark in here, followed by it's very dark in here. Once I got accustomed to the light level I found a super charming space that is befitting of the name the Alibi Room. It was refreshing to go somewhere I could talk at a normal level and be heard by the other 2 people I was there with and be able to hear everything they said too. it's a quiet cozy place with a killer happy hour. All the food was great (we ordered off the happy hour menu) and inexpensive drinks were just right. Our waitstaff was excellent and very attentive without the feeling of being rushed our hovered over. A perfect end to the day.

Went here after the pike place ghost tour. the place is absolutely haunted. a glass flew out of the waiter's hand and shattered on the ground(possibly clumsiness but he says it happens all the time...) The hostess also told me that the faucets are running when she comes in in the moring. A nice candlelit dinner ensued. I ordered a martini and iceburg salad. My date ordered some bacon pizza - it was only ok. But we did have a cambozola appetizer which was amazing. good martinis, good food, spookiness

I have been to the Alibi Room a few times and have consistently had an enjoyable time so I figured it best to contribute to the positive reviews. I must admit my biased for a perfectly dim lit room. I do not care for being in places that have all the lights off, nor to I care for strobe lights or bright lights. I think lighting is an art and Alibi does a very nice job of creating an intimate space with enough light to see around you. It is has always been clean and the clientele seem pleasant every time I visit. The bartenders have always been friendly and notice me almost as soon as I come up to the bar. The only reason I did not give a full 5 star rating was based on my personal preference for the music and should not necessarily deter anyone from checking this place out. The downstairs DJ on my visits has played a variety of music but a little too much 90's hip hop for my dancing shoes. There were lots of people dancing which I thought was great as well. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a fun night out. I know I will definitely be returning.

This is for their new location in Greenwood. It was excellent food, wine and good service. Found out they just opened yesterday in this neck of the woods and we couldn't be happier! Will definitely be back and if they keep up the level of service a five star is in their future from me.

We found this place when we needed a break from the cheese festival at Pike Place Market. A little drink and a snack that did not include cheese. I ordered a gin and tonic, and received a drink that did not taste like gin or tonic. My friend got a cherry Coke that was supremely watered down. The only person who got a decent drink ordered the cucumber mixed drink from their menu, which was indeed delicious and refreshing. Food was okay. We had appetizers, but their pizza looked really good too, and the server made sure to tell us there was a deal on the pizza during happy hour. Cute bar and all, but really, how do you mess up a gin and tonic?

We were all pretty tired when we got to Alibi Room. It was really crowded inside, so most of us just sat in a booth. Out of the other places in downtown Seattle, I think this was the only place I remember not having tater tots on their menu haha. I do remember the "gum wall" outside and the famous alley!

After going to Chapel and then Nite Lite some peeps said "We're going to Alibi Room". Now, I feel like I've at least heard of every place worth going in Seattle but Alibi Room rang no bell. Will it be a dive like Nite Lite or something classy(ish) like Chapel? Who cares, lets go for it! After stumbling down a hill I found myself face to face with "The Gum Wall" which just may be the most disgusting thing in the world. However, it is a great landmark as Alibi Room is right across the street.... errr.... right across the alley. We walk in and I feel comforted. Alibi Room isn't necessarily chic or pretentious, but it certainly isn't divey. It's dark, moody, covered with candles and art. I had a few issues with the downstairs area... mainly that it was humid and smelly and not quite big enough for a dance floor, but there was loud music and some people were dancing and others weren't.... odd place. The bartenders downstairs were friendly and made a good drink (and a few terrible ones), but we hightailed it out of their ASAP to head back upstairs to the ventilated, non smelly area. Our drinks for the majority of the night were mixed well and were tasty. On the strong side too. Bartenders seemed to be quick and were friendly. It wasn't too crowded for a Friday night and I have to say it was the perfect environment to chat with friends, make new ones and have some awesome cocktails and shots. I'll be back!

I've been to Alibi Room every single time I've visted Seattle, sometimes even on multiple occasions. Its great during the day to get a late lunch or early dinner. The food is so great, and even while enjoying whatever it is that I ordered, I always catch delicious smells coming from other tables, and I end up wishing I could try their food too. The drinks are delicious, the ambiance is absolutely perfect. I love the ever-changing art on the walls, and the music is always some from my favorite bands (the first time I ever went, they played Interpol's "Turn on the Bright Lights" album in its entirety. Instant love.) Downstairs is ridiculous. In a good way. I love the fact that upstairs its a cool, chilled out bar-slash-pizza place, and downstairs its a bumping, mini-club. Whether you want to hang out and have a drink and talk, or hang out and have ten drinks and dance, its all in one place. Seriously worth checking out. Plus its easy to find... directly facing the gum wall.

Hidden away in Pike's place market is a great place to grab a drink in the early afternoon or host a private party. Whatever your mood is, I feel this place can accommodate. Very chill vibe upstairs that can be a great date spot, or can be a great place to belly up to the bar. If you make it downstairs, you may notice they have another bar! It is the perfect location to host a private party (they are very easy to work with). Great space for 30-40 people. If not for a private party, go check it out on the weekends, where they have a live DJ starting at 10pm. Good times all around. Not only do they serve great drinks, they also have great food. May I suggest their Spicy Mac & Cheese

I have mixed feelings as I have come to the Alibi room on and off for years. The downstairs turns into a hopping dance floor...around midnights on weekends. Until then, its hit or miss. The last time I was there, the bass was so loud, it was shaking drink glasses off of the back buffet where I happened to be standing and kept getting dirty looks from people who thought it was me breaking glasses - by the time we realized the cause, there was shattered glass all over, and when we mentioned it to one of the staff, they were really too busy to care. I went with a drink the bartender recommended, which unfortunately, was terrible - don't ever try Absolute Mandarin in a Greyhound... besides that, the DJ I last heard was actually pretty good, and had some fun video footage. I would recommend the upstairs where it is quieter, with better service (understandably so, as i felt bad for the waitstaff that had to deal with the heckling drunks downstairs).

The Alibi Room was my favorite stop while in Seattle. Located across from the gum wall and semi-underground, the atmosphere is old and filled with a more local 20-40's crowd. Loved sitting at the bar and enjoying tap beers & awesome fire wood pizza & focaccia bread served with olive tapenade! Attentive bartender with good advice on some other stops in the area.

Our large group came in for happy hour and the waitress was very willing to push three tables together to accommodate us. Our server was very friendly and quite attentive considering the place was pretty packed, but the menu was really lacking and what we did order was pretty bland and generic.

Great food, drinks and service. I took my mom and fiance' here for dinner and they loved everything about the Alibi Room. I recommend the Alibi Room to anyone looking to impress a date or looking for an intimate dinner with friends or family.

Last stop of a short pub crawl at midnight. Awesome location. Some interesting ppl hangin outside the bar. It was not too crowded for a Sunday night with Monday holiday. Didn't see the basement as the bar there was closed. But seems like a cool place to be on a weekend night. Will go again.

We went here on our last trip to Seattle, to meet a friend. This year, we went back on our own. My friends and I had already started out with the hotel happy hour, but were craving a different ambiance and so went on a quest for a bar within walking distance of our hotel. We settled on this one because we knew about it and had liked it before. It's not terribly easy to find if you've never been there before, but it's worth the effort. We ordered beer and mixed drinks from the menu. My raspberry Palmer was tasty. As was my vodka-cran for the second round. We also decided on a whim to order one of their fire cooked pizzas. A quick glance at the menu, I ordered the first thing that looked interesting: the andouille sausage and pepper pizza. In my mind, that meant bell peppers, or maybe some sweet peppers. When the pizza arrived (and set on a large can of olives as a tray), we were all surprised to learn that "peppers" means jalapenos and peperocinos. Wow. WOW! There was so much flavor my mouth couldn't handle it all. I think my tastebuds went into hibernation after that. But it was good. Even though we were all shocked at first, we still finished it off quickly. The ambiance was the perfect blend of night club and dive bar. The music was sing-able, but not loud enough to impede conversation. The decor was muted reds and metals. And I'm glad to see they didn't change the look of the ladies restroom. Something about the candy apple red walls, metallic paint stalls, and the white tile just screams "BAR!" I'd happily go again. And probably will soon!

If you're looking for me you can find me at Alibi room, on a weeknight, after midnight, eating Blue Cheese and Grape Pizza and drinking a Dark and Stormy. Alibi makes everything better. Depressing job, rough breakup, mosquito bites...possibly even the carnage of war. I go to Alibi and feel immediately okay about it, becaaause (and I can tell you this is not as true on Fri/Sat) it's hidden, and cozy, and comfortable. They have a wonderful staff and even better food. The cocktails and the wine selection are all rave worthy and the bartenders are equally knowledgeable about both. I'm a smidgeon reluctant to tell you all how great it is because I don't want you showing up all at once on a Wed night and ruining my mellow vibe. But I do want you to check this place out...just be cool. Brady and David Powers (I know, great last name and I believe he is eligible) are super bartenders who will make a great suggestion and a great drink if you tell them what you like. If you're looking for red wine I vote: Fidelitas. Try it with the Foccacia Cambazola app (comes with whole roasted garlic) and all your worries will melt away. Best part is they serve it all until 1am! I love "until 1am!" Highlights recapped: Late kitchen: mostly appetizers, salads, fancy pizzas and dessert Great staff: you know what you like, they will hook it up Cool space: local art work rotated through monthly (and for sale) Fun atmosphere: love the music selection every night- live on weekends (downstairs) My only reservations: I find it too loud and crowded on the weekends, with the vibrating floors and the drunk nuttiness...but if that's your thing do it up! I'm also afraid of the basement, not for any logical reason it just creeps me out. So if you see me running up the stairs, don't be alarmed just get out of my way.

This place is such a great find. The atmosphere is very sexy and romantic and not very loud as with most places in the area. They have a nice 'by the glass' wine selection with the exception of the Syrah I had. The dinner menu is short and sweet, though I really prefer to sit up at the bar and enjoy the appetizers. The last time I was here, I shared the apple and brie plate that came with these wonderful little crustini's. I also ordered the beet sald with horseradish vinigrette...very nice and simple. This I enjoyed with a great glass of Shiraz. This place is located at the Pike place market underground, near where the old theater used to be. Most people have either never heard of it or can't find it. The prices are good and I highly reccommend the Alibi Room for a first date or just a nice place to meet a good friend, as the quite atmosphere allows for easy conversation.

Being a new transplant to Seattle, I was bumbling around the grotesquely-touristy Pike Market when I saw a sign that led me down to happy hour beneath "that fish-throwing place." The Alibi room quickly became my new home-base. It's dark and comfortable, and they have HAPPY HOUR from like 11:30-6 every day! You can grab some amazing food and a beer for lunch for $10. Can't go wrong at this place....! The barkeeps are all very friendly and attentive. And apparently, there is a downstairs bar for the large night crowds that jam the place. Although, the two times I've been in for food and beer there've been no more than five people inside. GREAT BAR! Well-hidden.

The Alibi Room is fantastic! I found it though other people on yelp. It is across from the famous Gum Wall at Pike's Place and like someone else has said, you do feel like you are part of a secret society, almost. I love the feel of the place, it is very small and dark but very relaxed. The happy hour menu is great and their pizza is delicious. I would highly, highly recommend this great little gem in Seattle.

I really like the ambiance of this place. Despite it's location right off the main fairway of the market, it's quiet and laid back. I never feel rushed to order like other places downtown, and have spent a leisurely meal or two here recently. Rustic pizza is their featured food, and I always want the Truffle Tre Fungi when eating here. The Andouille Sausage & Cherry Pepper pizza is a winner, too. I have to add that the pepper brie & honeyed apples appetizer with a glass of wine is a perfect snack between friends.

After dinner with a few friends, we wandered over to Post Alley and had a chance to enjoy the Alibi Room for a short while. Overall it was a pretty good scene. For a Friday night in Belltown, it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded or loud, and the crowd was chill. The place is dark and spartan, but that's just part of the ambiance...sort of a mix of "industrial" and "old world." The bartender was very friendly (although my Bombay martini was a bit on the strong/harsh side), and overall I would recommend the Alibi Room for anyone looking for a exciting place to socialize with friends without drama.

service was dismal at best. granted they are next to the bubble gum wall so they have to put up w/the riffraff streetrats.....still, there's so many bars in the area you can be choosey.

Was told that this was the place to go. Except for the dance floor being smaller than I expected it was a fun place. Awesome atmosphere. Didn't really get drinks here, just came to dance with some friends.

Ok so I will be the first to admit I am not well educated in the bar scene AT ALL. I am a married mom to 5 so yea my bar experiences are few and far between. But the sis and I wanted to get together before her trip to India so we came here. I liked it! We went in the middle of the day during happy hour so cheap appetizers. We got the mini pizza (plain cheese...yum) and the bruschetta with a bulb of garlic and some yummy cheese (can't remember the name of it). But the server got it to us super fast and it was sooo yummy. We ordered vodka cranberries, also just dandy and the server was friendly, joked around with us a bit, wasn't a bugaboo, and I got some awesome quality time with my little sister so it was a win-win all around and I would definitely come again!

i dont know why i kept saying i've been here before. but, that night, i was being a broken record player. my gimlet tasted a little shabby for my taste (boo)...but that didn't stop me from having two of them. i love how dark and intimate this place is though .the seating downstairs especially is much to my taste. unfortunately, the crowd that was dancing that night....really...wasn't...my kind of people. there was a lot of really bad dancing...like you know those ugly girls that shallow hal thinks are hot-but they aren't...and the dance they are doing when you see the fullness of their ugly selves?? yeah. that was what i have to view while drinking at the alibi. i'm sure with the right combination of good lookers/good dancers plus lack of pretension, plus rounds and rounds of vodka neat (which is what i really should have stuck with)...alibi room would get many more stars from me. unfortunately...for the night i revisited-and decided to review for yelp....its standing at 3 stars. complaints and protests will be disregarded on this matter.

The alibi room is always inviting...and has an array of people. I especially love the room downstairs that you can reserve before 10 pm and throw some awesome parties. The bartenders are always great and make some yummy drinks. Their party platters for parties are always real big and party pleasers. Yum to the hummus.

This is where I take my friends when they come into town and play at the Showbox. We can eat an earlier dinner here, get some good drinks and always make it to the show in time for them not to be too wasted. Ps. The Mac and Cheese at this is AMAZING. After having it for the first time, I craved it for days. I still dream of it. Sometimes I think about going to get my fix, but then, all my friends are touring Europe right now. Boo Hoo.

This is a good place to go before a show at Showbox, or after a day of shopping at the market. Impress guests visiting by knowing about this hidden, dark and slightly romantic restaurant/bar across from the gum wall on Post Alley. I have been here twice, both times on a Friday with no wait. The pizza is huge (enough for three people) and very good. A lot of different topping options, will make even those fussy vegan and vegetarian friend happy. Service was excellent, almost too attentive (our server came over 3 times cause I guess we were taking too long to order) but thats not something I should really be complaining about. I love that when you order pita and hummus, it comes with cucumbers, olives, and feta. I had fun making mini Greek sandwiches. Good for just a drink or dinner.. if you don't mind paying $12 for parking.

A friend took me here while I was on vacation in Seattle. What an awesome little place. It was lively and exciting. I liked that it was dimly lit-- made it really feel like a hideout. The delicious pizzas were placed on top of huge cans of tomato sauce on our table which I thought was creative and also very european. Drinks were tasty and wine list was decent.

I went here the other night with a friend and really liked it. It's super cozy and very chill. It was pretty quiet, but it was a Monday, so I wasn't surprised. They had a pretty good selection of drinks. Getting to the restroom was a little mazey...wonder what it's like if you are drunk... I'm definitely interested in having dinner here next time and I will be back!

I like Alibi Room just for the ambiance. It makes you feel like a member of a secret society, sneaking down a sketchy alley and ducking into a barely visible door. It's dim and cozy, and has brick walls covered with rotating art for sale, perfect for meeting a friend or two. They have a decent happy hour, perfect for noshing with an after work beer or cocktail. The brie plate is probably the best, with plenty of cheese, sweet apples, and foccia, but the mini pizzas (great thin crust) and mac n' cheese are also decent. A fun little place for after work.

I dig this place because the food is above average (better than your normal bar food), drinks have never disappointed me, and everything about it is pretty damn easy and to the point. It's a fun place to go as an alternative to the normal downtown scene.

  • Rey D.

the happy hour prices are not bad. along with my beer, i had the pepperoni pizza, which tasted pretty good and was a good personal-sized serving. my rating is lower than average because the place needed more waitstaff. the servers took a long time to come to our table, even when there barely any customers at the time. also, what's with the restrooms being down a steep set of dimly lit stairs? that could be bad news for people who've had a few. and when you get there, the signs on the restroom doors were hard to figure out. even when fully sober, there's a 50-50 chance that you'd pick the wrong door and freak out someone of the opposite sex on the other side. ... i wonder if that's how the bar got the 'alibi' in its name ...

I came here for happy hour and left pretty happy :) The place was a bit hard to find and it is located in an alley way. Don't forget to check out the gum wall. It's pretty cool or gross (however you see it). We got 4 appetizers and it came to a little over $20 which is awesome. We got spicy mac & cheese, apple and brie, roasted garlic w/foccacia bread, and bruschetta. They were all pretty good. We came here on a Sunday afternoon where it was not too busy and we had seating next to the window so it wasn't dark-dark. The next time I come here, def want to try the pizza.

We arrived at the Showbox too early for the main act, and contemplated eating in the Green Room. I suggested we go here instead. I used to come here all the time, but just for the weekend parties in the basement, so I wasn't sure it would be good. But it was. We had cocktails, two appetizer plates, and coffee. The only problem was the lack of any real dessert items, but everything else was delicious. At that hour, it was empty enough that the chef personally gave us a "You're Welcome" for the thanks we gave.

My BF and I happened upon this hidden gem on my birthday night- he without a dinner gameplan, me getting hungered and a little irritable because of aforementioned state. In comes Alibi Room to save the evening, recommended to us by the hotel concierge. It was about 10PM at night on a summer Friday, and it was recommended mostly because it was one of few places still open and serving what I was in the mood for. I liked it for several reasons- I liked that it was off the beaten path, I liked that it was dark (hence cosy), and I liked the atmosphere. I DIDN'T care for the noise level, which bordered on intolerable, but it WAS a summery Friday evening and there was another gal celebrating her birthday with a large, intoxicated party so I let it slide. Reading other's reviews of this place, I kinda wish it WAS empty when I came, but I still liked it nonetheless. We had dinner here, and the food was quite good. Unfortunately I can't recall exactly what we had, but I rememberd my boyfriend had some sesame-crusted, seared ahi tuna type deal which was well prepared and I had a roasted chicken or something that was quite good. Now that I finally remembered what the hell this place was called, I will definitely be making it part of my rotation when in Seattle. I don't need no alibi to come here!

Looked like a cool place, but was completely empty all night long. Maybe Wednesdays are "For the love of Flying Spaghetti Monster! Do not go downtown!" days or something. All I know is that no one else entered the bar for hours with the exception of a pair of completely deranged dudes who were babbling like cavemen or the like. They soon exited stage left. Seriously. Was downtown closed tonight?

Love the drinks. Love the selection of gin. Love the bartender. Adore the pizza. Great place. Especially enjoyed the gum wall outside. And the strange, precipitous drop outside the windows. Come in at ground level, look out the window over a 2 story drop. Cool.

I had a very mixed experience here, but decided that everything that the employees did was great. My girlfriend had her birthday party there and we reserved the downstairs space, which is beautiful and large enough to accommodate the 50 or 60 people we expected. The bartender was nice, genuine, and helpful. The party had a theme of 1979, so we had a Pandora channel based on Donna Summers that kept the event in effect. The bartender, whose name I didn't catch, went into the back room and queued up a bunch of episodes of Soul Train! How awesome is that?! He's like the Apollo of bartenders. (Greek god, not whiny Battlestar Gallactica character) It was great, but alas...apparently it was "Reggae Night" because around 10:00 some asshat came in and started spinning irritating music, shut down the Donna Summers mix and totally killed the vibe. Half of the crowd left within an hour and the shit music kept getting louder to the point that you had to get to the hall way just to shout a conversation with someone else. Multiple party people approached him to ask for something more danceable and were met with the arrogance of someone who sees himself as a misunderstood genius of (sense the irony, folks) playing other peoples' music. The guy was a total fucking douche! My iPhone has a decibel meter that told me that it was a sustained 105dB of FUCKING REGGAE! Let me type that again... 105dB of ...fucking!...reggae! To offer a little perspective, here is a little information about decibel levels. 1. Firstly, a decibal level is an exponential function, which is to say "As the number goes up, the volume is multiplying by itself...so the difference between 60 dB and 80 dB is the difference between a normal conversation and a vacuum cleaner. 2. Secondly, if you have typical headphones at full volume, you can't reach 105 dB. They mostly max out at 98 dB. 3. 110 dB is about what you experience at the front row of a rock concert. 4. He was playing FUCKING REGGAE! What on earth is the matter with that guy? If I were looking for a job where I could basically go into a room, destroy an event in progress and irritate the shit out of everyone and potentially cause them hearing impairment, without offering them anything worth listening to, I would be hard pressed to think of a more appropriate job than "Reggae DJ Douche". So...if you're looking for a place to throw a party, the Alibi Room has a great space, but make sure they don't have some total knob coming in later that night to ruin your party. In case it's not completely apparent (and I suspect it is not), I do like the Alibi Room and would definitely go there again, use their space again, and be BFF with their bartender. Just not on Reggae Douche Nozzle night.

I really wanted to like you, Alibi room...I gave you two shots, and I'll probably give you another. Granted, I have only visited it on Friday nights..maybe thats my problem. The first time it was practicaly empty, however, the upstairs seemed like it would be chill to grab a drink or two before heading to another spot. The downstairs creeps me out...its small, it smells like a mixture of feet and cheese, there's never anyone down there. The bartender pours a good drink though and provided a little entertainment with his dance moves behind the bar.

The first time I was to the Alibi room was for a first date with a new cute boy. When I walked in I immediately loved the feel of the place, kind of dark and excluded, a little hidden treasure in the market. The food was great, the drinks were stiff and the service was on par. A month later I found out why my date chose the Alibi Room, he was married and didn't want his wife to catch him, needless to say I never saw him after finding that out. Anyways working near the market I've been back numerous times for drinks, they are no longer as stiff but still good. If your man says he's going to the Alibi Room I highly suggest going with him.

The Alibi Room is probably my favorite Bar/Lounge in Seattle right now. Every time I go there, I thoroughly enjoy myself. The staff is relaxed and pleasant. They usually play good music (and when they do, they play the whole album of the artist, not just a comp of "hits", which i really appreciate). The prices are fair which is impressive because a lot of business's would probably just jack up the prices a bit since it's at a tourist location. The food is GREAT. The atmosphere is laid back with moody lighting. Going here makes you feel swanky, and as if you're walking into an expensive restaurant, but not paying out the nose . Will go back plenty

Hidden, dark, mysterious, cozy. Just the way I like it. If you haven't been to the Alibi Room lately go soon. Corey Ramey from El Gaucho bought the place a few months ago; he learned a lot at El Gaucho about making guest feel welcome and serving up a nice atmosphere with great food. The menu is a feast for the eyes with Spicy Mac n Cheez, Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf, Coriander Encrusted Chicken Breast and, oh yes, a Pot Roast sandwich. YUM. Can't wait to go back. I also learned that they have a 'party' room in the basement available for a $400 minimum food & beverage fee. A good deal. You and your guests will be treated very well.

It really depends on the night and your mood to enjoy the Alibi. Its really dark, and can get really crowded and loud for such a small space. The dungeon downstairs heats up like a sauna when the bodies start moving. Its secluded and trendy which can be good and bad at the same time. The food and drinks are good but by no means cheap. Its best to take the alibi in small frequent doses and when the stars align you just gotta ride the wave and party til 6 in the morning! But I used to live a few floors above the alibi so I am partially biased. I have to agree with previous posts, after most of the old staff left, things went down hill and it hasn't been the same. I haven't been back in over a year but I hope the good times keep on rollin.

This place has a cool hidden speakeasy feel to it. We randomly stumbled across it and have gone back a couple of times since. A great place to grab a drink, eat some pizza and talk. It is a fairly small place, but easily accommodates small groups. I've seen some larger groups as well, but I have never had trouble getting a table or place at the bar for 2-3 people, even on new years. I'm actually loathe to post this review, because I don't want to encourage people to go and make it harder to get a table.

If you love pizza and awkward white kids dancing the way that hipsters love scarves, then this place is perfect for you. Came here two nights in a row with friends while I was visiting from San Francisco. The first night we rolled in at 11:30 and headed downstairs for drinks. Old school hip hop? Check. People dancing like it was their job? Double check. A bartender who laughed at my joke? Need I say more? On our way out, we caught the sight and smell of pizzas and I made a mental note to try the food before I left Seattle. The next night, we beelined it to this place. We had a reservation for 7:30 and arrived right on time, but our table wasn't ready yet. The consolation prize? A free plate of pita, hummus, olives, feta and cucumbers. And we didn't even mind waiting! Dinner was amazing: the mushroom pizza with truffle oil and the prosciutto pizza are worthy of a five-star review. Drinks were strong, waitress was nice and the soundtrack to the place made my day (Black Keys, Killers...). Headed downstairs to finish out the night and memories were made. To quote 2010: this place is epic.

Went there on Friday night with friends for happy hour. It was dimly lit and the service was good after a shift change took place. Apparently they do offer Jaeger these days... at 6 bucks a shot. Ouch. I like that it's sort of hidden away from the rest of the Market. Indeed, I had never been there before and had to call a friend who was already there to help me navigate toward the entrance. I like the place, and I'll definitely be back for lunch one of these days.

It was Saturday night at around 6:30 PM and the significant other and I were in town to see Joel McHale at the Moore. We were hungry and decided to walk down to the market and walk through Post Alley to see if there were any worthwhile places to eat. Now, we are not and have never been very knowledgeable about the restaurants in Seattle so we really had no idea where to eat. This was likely to be an adventure that would end badly for us. We walked past Il Bistro to take a look and got a good chuckle. We are casual people in almost every respect and that especially applies to how we dress. You will probably never catch me in a sport jacket, tie, blazer or anything to that effect. We scoffed with a comical and slightly hypocritical pretentiousness at the people in Il Bistro and continued on into Post Alley. Of course, the only thing of note on this side of the Alley was Alibi Room. I vaguely remembered reading some reviews of it on here and then looking up the menu but could not for the life of me remember what they served. So, we decided to turn back and head down the other way. After reaching the end of Post Alley and not yet finding anything that struck our fancy, we decided to look up Alibi's menu on my phone. An epiphany struck! I suddenly remembered that their menu looked absolutely delicious. We set out once again for Alibi but this time with a clear mission at hand. I once again scoffed at the people in Il Bistro, marched on past and straight into our destination. We could not have made a better choice. The place is dark but not too dark and the decor is kitschy and interesting without seeming like it was trying to be so. Our server, whose name I believe was Kristen, was friendly and patient without being servile. Some people want a server who is submissive but my preference will always be someone with some personality to them. We got that. With all of that out of the way, the location, decor and people are nothing compared to the food. My pizza on this night was called "Green, Eggs and Ham." It has a pesto base with two sunny side up eggs, ham and hollandaise sauce on top. Typically I shy away from pesto at restaurants because they almost always overdo it and it ends up destroying the overall taste of the dish. This pesto was the perfect blend of taste and power. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the ham was well-done without being tough. However, the key to this pizza for me was the hollandaise sauce which was slightly spicy and, much like the pesto, intriguingly tasty without being overpowering. The combination of all of these ingredients on a nice, crispy but not crackery crust caused what a foody might call a "mouthgasm". Seriously, I almost cried. Location + atmosphere + service + food = an easy 5 stars. We shall return.

This is a cool low key bar where you can go and sit for long periods of time and enjoy a conversation you are having with others. The music is amusing and mostly for background ambiance. They have some good beer on tap and the pizza we ordered was delicious.

This is a place you'll only find Seattlites. Tucked away in the arch across from the gum-wall in Post Alley, it's not someplace you will find without looking for it....and that's part of the charm! They have rotating art that is something I always look forward to. "Wonder what kind of weird painting they'll have on the wall this time?" And I mean weird in a good way, if I could afford to buy art, I would consider getting something here. Dark and romantic, a bit mysterious, and overall charming. They have good happy hour munchies, I recommend the hummus plate it's garlicy-superb Their house red is always a great wine and the bartenders are usually well-schooled in their vino which is nice. One time I went to the downstairs room and there was music and it was a little bit different scene, not dancing really, just louder and a little more up-beat. Upstairs if pretty chill. I heart Alibi Room

I like it, the atmosphere is good and the weekend brunch is awesome. The Banana's Fosters French Toast will make you moan it's so good. This is no exaggeration either! The Bloody Mary's are the best in town, the drinks are decent and fair, not cheap but fair.

I just ate two little pink discs of pepto bismol. We'll call it a gastro-intestinal pre-emptive strike. My stomach has been cramping for the the last couple hours and I am really hoping that it is psycho-somatic because otherwise, it would have to be from the mussels and clams at the Alibi Room. Now, I know that serving bad sea food is a fairly serious charge, but I've cooked in a few different restaurants that served mussels and on a few occasions after not working the saute station for a few days, I would come in to set up and find a 6 pan of mussels that some one left forgotten in the nether areas of the reach in for a few days too long. It is a smell you will never forget. And a milder version of that smell is how the mussels I got at the Alibi Room earlier tonight tasted. I even tried a second one just to make sure that it wasn't a fluke that the first one tasted a little off. It wasn't. After a couple minutes of staring at the bowl wondering If I had really been served off mussels, I mentioned it to my fellow diners and then tried yet another one to make really certain. It was really certain. I spit it out and sent them back. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, the table of guys next to us ordered and ate two bowls between the three of them after I sent mine back. The waitress said that the cooks reported they had just got the mussels in this morning but she bought me a beer anyhow. So, like I said, with any luck these periodic sharp pains racking my stomach are just tricks of the mind and I won't be upgrading from Pepto Bismol to Kaopectate before the night is through. Despite the mollusk mess at the start of the meal, my Prime Sirloin was charred on one side and barely marked on the other and still somehow ended up less done than the medium-rare I ordered it. I can deal with bloody meat but it wasn't how I ordered it. The 'yam fries' that came with the steak were julienned yams that had been pan fried so like the often disappointing home fries, they were charred in some spots and limp and raw in others. One of my fellow diners got the stuffed chicken which was a bit dry and over cooked and the mashed potatoes that came with it were totally bland. Another person at our table said that he felt the place 'has gone down hill in the last year or so.' The only reason we ended up at the Alibi Room in the first place was that we were downtown, super hungry, and our first couple options had hour long waits. I won't be going back. At least, not for food.

My first visit to the Alibi Room left me quite satisfied with my experience. Delicious mixed drinks, a low buzz that filled a dark room to hang and relax with friends, and excellent decor made it a great experience. My second visit however left me with a totally different feel for the place. It was wall to wall packed, and subsequently the bar was hurried and making far less balanced and delicious cocktails. The decor was barely recognizeable through the herd of people, and the feel of the downstairs room left me feeling like I was back at a basement punk show at Rutgers instead of feeling like I was in the relaxing and chilled out bar from my previous visit. The difference between experiences doesn't discount the quality of the first visit though, and so I give them 3 stars.

Great place to start the night. $13 artisan pizzas are great and big enough for 2. Decent beer selection, speakeasy atmosphere, busy but not jam packed. Of course we left to catch a show so I don't know how it got later, I could see it filling to the point of discomfort.

Something about the Alibi makes me feel like I'm in an old sailor hangout. Last time I was there it was midweek and the place was fairly low key. It's a great place to have a conversation with friends, the bartender or yourself. Plus the location is kind of awesome.

Owned by Tom Skerritt, Gillian Anderson, and Jason Preistly this place is a film makers haven. Now, everyone has their opinions because the Alibi room is completely different during the day, during the night, and on weekends. The part that connects to the market is the upstairs where you can sit and have lunch (I recommend the turkey sandwiches) and read one of the many screenplays provided. The downstairs is a hot (better in the winter) muggy industrial dance floor with some seating an extra bar and a DJ or two. I stick to the upstairs. Week nights at the Alibi Room are relaxing. A perfect place to meet a date or a buddy after work, The bartender's Ipod is packed with goodies and they will offer plenty of suggestions and even tastes of wine before you order. A great establishment! (if you are in BC they have another location there too)

No fourth star because as someone who doesn't drink, but does love atmosphere I could use a little more attention than just black tea. What they lack in non-alcoholic beverage Alibi makes up for in ambience though, which brings me back happily each time. Low key enough for a mid-evening stop off, sexy enough for date night. The name is well suited.

Awful, plain awful. We went for Happy Hour and the bartender was so offended that we ordered off the Happy Hour menu. She kept walking away from the table while we were still ordering. She did that continously. Never smiled. We wouldn't go back again.

The Alibi Room used to be the place to go for slow, moody service, expensive food and an attitude. In the last year or so, however, it seems to have completely changed. The service is still a little slow, but not annoyingly so. And the attitude has gone from annoyed with you for being there to spicy and fun - like a good bartender. And the food is solid and completely reasonable - especially given the location. Alibi Room is back on my good list.

Its romantic and cheap. My boyfriend and i shared a plate of clam/mussel with white wine. We both got a bowl of clam chowder. Its pretty good. The place is cool since it is down the alley of the pike market, so it is not open to many tourists. We got to meet some of the friendly locals there. The waiter thought we were cute. He gave us some extra bread for being nice and chatty.

I found this place to be a treasured little secret. Being a stranger to Seattle I was shown this place by a local and would likely have never found it otherwise. The food was very good, I couldn't really see it but it did taste wonderful! We had some very good local beers and listened to wonderful music that I would never have expected most people to have played in my life. This place was great fun! A very private sort of place though, not too busy. It was a bit pricey but the service and food was wonderful! I would definitely love to go there again anytime!

One of my common landing places. I like the laid back atmosphere, the music that is not so loud as to prevent you from having a conversation, and the wine selection is not bad. And, I like that the art rotates monthly - in fact, I bought my favorite painting after seeing it at the Alibi Room (which never ceases to amuse my friends!). I hear there's a dance floor - but I haven't explored the lower level more than to find the ladies room, so I can't say whether it's good or bad (and I probably won't ever try to find out). The service is a little spotty - I've had really great attentive service and I've also been there when I apparently forgot to turn off my superpower of invisibility. All in all, it's one of my standbys and I can't complain!

Great place to escape tourist-hell. Wait a sec, I don't live in Seattle... I guess that makes me a tourist. Still, I'm from SF & this is the kinda place I love...yummy food, funky space, and a cool, mellow vibe.

Stopped into this place late Sunday. Shared a glass of wine with a friend. Nice art on the walls and awesome dim lighting. It's a cool vibe.

It is places like these that help establish and keep the character and personality of Seattle. Something that is missing from the east side. This, small, dark bar that has the misfortune of being part of the world famous Gum Wall, is a hideaway bar that downtown natives know and love. It is known for its fantastic stone oven fired pizzas and nearly Speakeasy feel you get when you walk down the alley to get there. I would recommend it for the pizza itself...If you can stand walking by the gum wall.

Came here after finding ourselves starving at 1am without a lot of open food options. Love the feel of the bar, it's dark and everyone in it was really good looking for some reason... We sat at the tables and ordered a combo of cocktails, wine and pizza. I had the bacon, asparagus, caper with goat cheese, pretty tasty. The salmon with dill was by far the best, and seemed an appropriate choice for non-native Seattleites. My only issue with the meal is the service. Our waitress came over to take our order and was asked for a particular drink by a more difficult coworker. Instead of taking the rest of the orders (which only included my food - starving! - and two of our drinks) she went to go check out the stock situation on the booze for him. The kitchen was set to close in a few minutes and I was going to eat my damn pizza. A bartender came back, and told him to make another cocktail choice. I asked if I could give him my pizza order. He looked at me like I had just asked if naked mole rats were his favorite animal (that was the level of incredulity), and then took the remaining orders by memory. Low and behold, original waitress came back a few minutes later to ask what we were missing because there had been a miscommunication at the bar. Surprise surprise angry bartender.

I had such a great time here while in Seattle. I got to catchup with my college friend and really spill the tea. The environment is absolutely fantastic and the happy hour starts at 12pm. Our server was so personable and such a great spirit. Over all I really had a great time at this restaurant and I am looking forward to my next visit. :)

Finally found it! A bit a trick to find, but worth the search. Ordered the spinach salad & prosciutto, goat cheese & arugula mini pie. The server apologized...she put in for a regular pie on accident, but would only charge for the mini. Food was absolutely great, and I can always find at least one thing wrong. Not here. Stop in. I have extra pizza boxed up, but will hand to someone on the street. No worries.

Yet another strike out on my never ending quest to find a good spot for post work drinks downtown. I am starting to think that such a place does not exist, unless you walk over to Belltown or up to Capitol Hill. Our drinks were okay, I ordered a double Moscow Mule. Since it's a featured cocktail it's $8, which is very overpriced considering is just a vodka ginger with lime served in a copper cup but hey I knew that. What I did not expect was being charged over 5$ for the second shot, they charged me a well cocktail for the extra shot. I don't know if it's a mistake or just absurd either way I paid and won't be returning. And my quest goes on...

Oh my God. The pizza. Ohhhh the pizza. I wanted to eat somewhere close to Pike Place but not a super touristy typical restaurant. The hotel concierge told my boyfriend and I about this place and when I got back to the hotel, I gave the guy a hug for telling us about this place. The waiter was awesome, the ambiance was romantic yet edgy, and the pizza was to die for. Heads up... Alibi Room is hard to find. We walked past this place twice. I knew that it was in the gum wall alley and it wasn't until we walked all the way down and then back up that we found it! The place is dimly lit and when we got there it was quiet. Within 20 minutes and after the Seahawks game ended, the placed was packed!! We ordered the Spicy Mac & Cheese for a starter and I knew from that point on that it was going to be a good meal. Pizza came out fast, hot and delicious. The wooden boards were set up on large olive cans so it was nice to have the pizza on the table and raised above the plates. The waiter was so funny and even though the restaurant was packed with people, he always gave us his full attention. When I come back to Seattle, I will definitely be coming back to the Alibi Room!

Pizza was good but nothing spectacular that I would go out of my way to get. The service sucked but we anticipated that from the other Yelp reviews we read before trying this place out. Great location and pretty cool vibe in the restaurant. The music was super loud for a small leisurely crowd on a Tuesday night. But the important question... would we go back? Probably not.

This is a nice (very dark) bar/tavern underneath Pike's Fish Market and outside the famous gum wall. After walking around Seattle for a long afternoon we went to the gum wall for pictures and then to the Alibi room. The food was really good--Pizza was excellent and we had some salads too. The place is really cool and old. There is very little lighting so bring a flashlight app to read the menus or see your food :)

I was so excited to take my parents to the alibi room until we were completely disrespected by the brunette waitress working today at noon. We walked in asked "are you open?" she just glares at us. "Do we sit where ever we would like?" She replies "uh yeah there's a sign up front that says seat yourself" We then see her obviously talk about us to the cook.. As we took our seats. I really did want some of that delicious pizza, but we couldn't get passed how rude she was and the risk of having a side of spit added to our order. So we left..

Cool ambience upstairs. Cool people, minus a not so happy hostess this past Saturday night. Friendly bartender. Awkward dancing and very drunk downstairs. Fun and weird at the same time. I'd say majority of people were close to/around 30, with a handful of 40 something's. Broken beer bottles everywhere, spilled drinks, limes, straws, drinks on the floor. Alive, but unruly, really drunk people. Meh.

Great for dining in OR for TAKE OUT PIZZA! YES!!! They JUST opened up a GREENWOOD location (Holman and Greenwood on 104th at that weird 5-way intersection)! Now we can enjoy the Alibi Room menu and also find easy parking. This is my new neighborhood spot. This review is for the HOLMAN ROAD location... Great for GAME DAY - they have a few HUGE TVs, which is fun. And, you can reserve the upstairs restaurant bar area if your group wants to have its party there. We're having a baby shower for a friend here and they have a pretty tasty looking catering menu, as well as their regular menu that you can use. More casual than the Pike Place Market Alibi Room and good for families. PROS: Great food, big TVs, good for families, friendly staff, they do take-out orders, the upstairs is an awesome spot for parties, and there is usually ample parking. CON: Greenwood and Holman are under construction right now, and since it is tucked behind the Jiffy Lube on the corner, you might miss it if you drive by too fast.

Hidden oasis away from the tourists. Although right across from the gum wall where the tourists were, this hole in the wall was both dive bar and upscale at the same time. It seemed like everyone there was local even though it was right in the middle of the market. Just had drinks so cannot comment on the food but the pizza did look very good. I give the place an A- since I loved the ambiance and the drink. Need to try the food next time.

Wanna grab a cocktail in a classic Seattle bar? Then hit up this place....located beneath the main entrance to the Pike Place Market and just beyond the "Gum Wall" The Alibi is a can't miss destination while in Seattle. Beware, the drinks are almost as strong as the waitresses.

Went here for a drink (though there was a whole menu too). Very cute spot behind the "gum wall" and the bartender exposed me to a new whiskey (Buffalo Trace). It was slightly loud though so I would not call this place "intimate." I did enjoy the ambiance and the art.

I've heard the name but have never actually been which is a shame for a born and raised Seattlite! Pizza=amazing. Artichoke dip=amazing (but hot, be sure to allow it to cool!). Drinks=amazing. Though my drunken state may have cast an exaggerated glow about the place, I'm fairly certain that it was a great meal and experience. We'll definitely return!

At a friend's recommendation, I booked a table for five at the Alibi Room as a starting place for a boy's night out for a bachelor party. We arrived on time and the table was held as requested right in the middle of things even though the place was packed on a Saturday night. We had drinks and split three pizzas and it was just right to ballast the evening's activities. We like everything about it except having to go past the truly bizarre "gum wall" Seattle "landmark." We were there for 90 minutes and the service was great but not intrusive. My crew ranged in age from 29 to 73 and a good time was had by all.

My name is Detective Spencer Chase. I was tracking the elusive Sound Slasher in none other than the dark alleyways of Seattle. He knew I was on his trail and thought he lost me by sliding into a secret watering hole. I slyly entered donning a clever disguise and was taken aback by the amount of spies taking up the dark corners. As I sat down I was startled by Veronica Starling, my partner who was posing as a waitress. Were we after the same man? Yeah, that's kinda how I felt when my cousins and I sauntered into this interesting cove off of the beaten touristy path. I have to admit I expected a wider range of American faire however after being talked down by my cousin, I settled for a gourmet pizza and beautiful green salad. Before all that we gave our appetites a workout with Bruschetta (Fresh red tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil and balsamic reduction served with crostini) & Foccacia Cambozola (Cambozola cheese served with a roasted garlic bulb and basil topped tomato slices with foccacia). Both of those alone made me grateful that I now try new things and I am open to flavors I otherwise turned my nose up to. As I mentioned previously, we all decided on our sharable main in the form of a thin crust pizza. Given our table's dietary restrictions, the final verdict rested on half the pizza with rosemary sausage, pepperoni, caramelized onions and roasted red bell peppers. The other half consisted of salami, pepperoni, caramelized onions and roasted bell peppers. I stayed away from the salami side but attacked the other side like a ravenous zombie however brain was substituted by sausage. After my melodious encounter with the wood-fired pizza I ordered a beautiful mixed green salad which had many ingredients I can't stand. Did someone slip me a mickey or something because this is not me! A great time was had. I ate like a king, got the girl and caught my man or was it the other way around? Chase out.

Excellent experience. We tried the bleu cheese/bacon/carmelized onion pizza paired with a couple of mixed drinks on a rainy afternoon. Everything was well executed. Kind of hidden, but it lends charm. Additionally, our waitress was top notch and ultra cool. We'll be back. Highly recommended.

I stopped here to have dinner with friends - and I never been to the Alibi Room before. It's quite a lively atmosphere - and the food was good. I had a Greek Pizza - the crust and the pizza itself is delicious. It was on the thinner side of pizza crusts - but it was still had a nice balance of texture between the crispy crust and still hot and fluffy in the inside. What was intriguing about the pizza is how it was served - on top of a 1-gallon can of olives. I found that to be quite amusing. When I was there, it was packed and everyone was having a good time. I am not sure if this is their normal crowd, or if it's the Sounder's crowd, as they were playing later that night. In any event, I had a good time here, with good company, and I may stop by again if I'm in the area. Looking at the Gum Wall was a nice touch too - as I never saw it before.

Cool low-key spot tucked away in the alley with a very unobtrusive door, and a completely unmarked dance room downstairs. One could be admiring the gun wall rightb outside and still completely miss it. I guess people were bunching by the door because the doorman had us wait while he herded them in, but we then got a table immediately and there were others. I would say this was more of a thirties crowd, and maybe older, much less of the twenties crowd. Seems like the pizza is their main food thing, since the tables all have pizza condiments on them, standard. The cocktail list isn't long, nor is the beer list, but the variety within those six or so of each is good. Service was slow, and we waited a while for water and to place our orders and to get our drinks, but I guess you don't go there if you're in a hurry. Friends liked their beers, my friend liked the whiskey cocktail, and the fresca was tasty--actually like fresca, grapefruity, and refreshing, served over a bunch of ice in a pint glass. The music was loud but not too loud; that is, you could hear at your table, but not too much from others. The dance area in the basement looked like fun, although we were just getting drinks.

Had not chose to sit in a seat where I could watch the cook make the pizza, I might have eaten, but I'm glad I didn't. Watching the cook chow down on ingredients, suck his fingers dry after to "clean" them, the right after dive his licked fingers back in the ingredients to put on the pizza grossed me out. Not to mention he kept scratching his ass, wiping his nose, itching his armpits, and at one point appeared to pick his nose. He never once washed his hands, and was not wearing any gloves! I gave this place 2 stars as aside from that the atmosphere is fun, its in a cool location at the market by the gum wall, pretty unique. The service/bar tender I had was cool and I know the pizza is pretty good, but after that I don't know if I can ever eat again.....damn wish that I wouldn't have saw that. The old saying is true, what you don't know don't hurt ya!

came for happy hour on Friday. $4 for a draft beer is a decent price, but a pretty limited beer list. average Moscow mule. veeeeeery slow service, apparently only one bartender during their busiest time from what I could see, and he wasn't particularly attentive- multiple times a friend of hours practically had to stand on the bar to get anyone's attention

Another one where I am torn between 3 and 4 stars, so let's do some math. I'd give this 2 stars for ambiance, 3 for the drinks, and 5 stars for the pizza, That works out to 3.3333... stars so I'm applying proper math and rounding down to 3. Let's start with the drinks - I'm pretty sure I had one, but I'll be darned if I remember what it was. And seeing as how that was only my second drink of the evening, I'm going to put it down to the drink failing to make an impression, rather than memory impairment on my end. This can be a good thing as it obviously wasn't terrible, but nothing more to say here. Ambiance - the ambiance could work in certain situations, but at least on this particular Friday night, it had three big strikes against it: dark, loud, and crowded. Now, if it were a quiet evening I could see this being a great spot for a romantic date, but with a crowd around the bar, music blaring from the speakers, a rickety ceiling fan looking like it might come down at any moment, and barely enough light to read the menu, I found the environment more stressful than anything else. Food - the saving grace for this place and why I was initially torn between 3 and 4 stars is the bacon bleu and caramelized onion wood-fired pizza. I am still drooling over its deliciousness weeks later and seriously considering coming back here for lunch when it would hopefully not be quite so busy. There are a number of creative pizza combinations (always a plus!) but also some of the more traditional classics along with the ability to pick your own toppings. The pizzas are bigger than individual size, but probably not quite big enough for two unless you are both light eaters, and I found the prices are reasonable, ranging from about $12-16.

Though the alibi room is still one of the staples of a night out around pike place (along with white horse, kells, dillard room) it's def. has changed quite a bit from what i remember it to be. Maybe it's me... maybe it's because i don't have the 200k debt, maybe it's because i'm not a fan of vanilla martinis, but whatever it is... alibi isn't doing it for me anymore. The food has gotten... bland and the dark eerie corner of pike place makes it difficult to walk to, especially in heels. The place hasn't really changed, except maybe the crowd, and i give it props for exposing me to a new genre of bars, but i've simply outgrown this establishment.

Tucked away in an alley by the gum wall, Alibi room is a hidden gem. The calzones are a last meal kind of food. So,so good. Stuffed with mozz, ricotta, and your choice of two toppings. I had pepperoni and spinach. Waitress was great, beers were cold. The only problem was the lighting was so dim, it was hard to see much of anything.

Good place for happy hour and a reminder of the Prohibition-era. Although it's not a speakeasy, it is tucked away under Pike's Place Market in an alley kitty corner to the famous Gum Wall. The bar below street level and also includes a second lower level with a second bar and a dance floor. The lower level is quite warm due to it's size, but fans are placed around so it's not entirely unbearable. The atmosphere is bustling with all sorts of people and the bartenders are good at making their drinks. Though crowded most of the time, this is one of the best places to bring new friends in town to give them a feel of Seattle.

What a great little bar tucked inside Pike Place. It's perfect for grabbing a drink after shopping in the market, a dinner in the area or a casual date. Kind of has a nice dark and cozy feel. We ordered a Greek pizza which was pretty good but kind of expensive at $16. We also had the apples and brie appetizer which turned out to be huge and I had a moscow mule. Great atmosphere!

Super cool spot right in Pike Place Market, Post Alley really. And the bartenders really know how to make this girl happy! I had a the Lucky in Kentucky, a yummy bourbon based cocktail, my friends had a plethora of gin, beer, and martinis, all were superb!

Totally decent place with good food! Pizza = good Mac and cheese = VERY good!! Beer = yes please Resident ghost = Always a crowd pleaser. They were able to seat a big group of 9 on short notice even though they were pretty busy. Good service too! I love that it's tucked away in an alley and close to the gum wall. Great place for locals to take tourist friends from out of town, or just stop by for dinner and a beer when they're downtown. Dim lighting is almost too dim, but adds to the atmosphere.

This is a pretty cool little dive bar. It's right across from the gum wall. The beers on tap are nice and mostly local beers. By the bottle they have a lot of variety and international beers. Most people seemed to order the pizza and it looked good. They also have a list of wine including some decent variety. Like most dive bars, the bathrooms are downstairs and pretty nasty. I guess that's what happens when you get drunk people night after night using their facilities. Not sure why but I end up here a lot late at night...I stumble in...and stumble out a few hours later.

For the price you pay - go somewhere else for better service and quality. A mixed review: Waitstaff get a -10 every time. The bartenders are ok... at least they aren't complete jerks. But the girls that run the floor... wow. Pieces of work. Slow, inattentive, sarcastic, rude. I'll just sit at the bar to avoid them any day. Pizza - 0 stars at worst , 3 stars at best. I have gotten sick twice after eating a pizza from here. Once I got a burnt pizza that they refused to replace (the chicken and jalapenos on top was actually brown! with crust that crumbled to dust when we tapped it with a fork). For the expense of these pizzas that is completely unacceptable. Atmosphere - 4 stars - one of the only reasons I have been there as much as I have.

This is a dope little place. Hilarious that people from Seattle dog this place because it is Pike's Market. Don't trust those hipsters on their single speeds. This place has great pizza, salads and Mac and Cheese. Make it a point to come here and see the gum wall. Go with the Caprese salad, I literally liked the plate clean. I then had the peppers and sausage pizza accompanied by a vodka tonic or two.

  • Ross B.

the mac and cheese was really really good. and the beer was great, (hard to mess that up) but the service was terrible. Our server must've had a terrible day or something, because she was very short and rude. it got to the point where if i got there, and she was my server, i'd get up and leave, but if it were someone else i'd LOVE to eat/drink there. OH! and we were a table of 6 and some people we know (separate) were sitting nearby (another 6) and she gave us auto gratuity! (only applies with groups of 8 or more.) Terrible Terribly Terrible.

  • Tom B.

This is, IMO, the best "craft" pizza in Seattle. The ingredients are fantastic - that andouille sausage and peppers, yum - the bar's always got solid taps available, and it's a dive bar if you want it to be, without the dive. I could go here every day. You know that spot that you peek at from the outside at night and wonder if they have food, and then make a huge deal about how good it was when you're done? This is one of mine. No TV, no wifi (and cell service sucks in this part of the Market, which is sometimes a plus), no fuss. GREAT happy hour and a super solid spot to "get away" on Fridays (or during summer) for lunch.

Although the food was sufficient, for a late night snack, the service from behind the bar was enough to force us to leave the bar! We went to Alibi room on a suggestion for the personal pizza's but were left with a tremendously sour taste in our mouths due to an over zealous barkeep supposedly named "Jason". We were a fairly large group and were there for quite some having a fairly pleasant evening until the barkeep decided that we weren't behaving to his standards. For no other apparent reason, he felt the need to lecture only our table for language that he didn't feel met his standards. We weren't speaking to anyone outside our group or harassing anyone in the least, but he felt the need to take it upon himself to provide us with a lecture in a most degrading and condescending tone. We asked the wait staff for his name and number for management to call and were left waiting for our bill and that information for almost an hour! He apparently mistakenly assumed that we were inebriated and would perhaps leave without the information. He finally came to give us one last lecture and remind us one last time of how correct he was in his self righteous and denigrating tone. I am a business owner and shudder to think that I could leave my business in the hands of someone this irresponsible. I really don't even know what else to say. Our party left this restaurant in an almost shock. I'm sure he thought we were a bit too inebriated but we were simply a loud, rambunctious group from Chicago, that were enjoying themselves (perhaps a bit too much for his taste). Never again. The food and drink were simply not worth the price of humiliation that we had to suffer. This is not the first review regarding this bartender's rude behavior. Should have read the review first. Hopefully we can help others before they waste their time.

Like, OMG... mmmm. dat pizza, dough. My boyfriend and I sauntered on in here TWICE during our visit to Seattle. Upon checking in at our hotel, I asked the front desk guy, "Where the eff should we go for dinner? We tired. We hongry." He says, "Well, if you like a good pie, up and over to Alibi you go!" He looked pretty hipster in his hotel uniform, so I was a bit skeptical of his advice. Lo and behold... the potato/sausage pizza blew my mind. You can get their cocktails in pint glasses (wtf). AND - they have a happy hour that lasts 7 hours, DAILY. We were pretty saucy after a fairly carby meal, so the standard pour count at Alibi must be 6. Definitely worth the visit. Forget the gross Gum Wall. The premier destination in that hall way is definitely Alibi. They know what's up.

A long time ago this place was a hole in the wall, and I guess it still is based on it's tucked away location, but the secret has been out for some time. The upstairs is a dark, chill spot to get some good pizza and some cocktails before or after a show at Showbox across the street. Not so sure about the downstairs these days since the music I overheard the last time, while sitting at a table near the stairs, sounded like...shit.

I visited this place again and wanted to try its drinks. The service, not so good. I came in and the sign says to just seat yourself. I sat down for like 10 minutes and nobody came around to give me the menu. All of the other tables were empty. There were probably 5 people there at the time but they were all sitting at the bar. The female staff finally made her way towards me and asked, did you want a menu? I was like, yea that would be nice. By that time I already did not feel like staying but still ordered a beer. It took her awhile to bring me the beer and she came with a glass that looked super dirty. I was like I am okay with the bottle so I don't need the glass. She was like "phew that makes my life so much easier!" Cool.

Was in town for business staying at the Arctic club. Tried to find a decent place to eat but all the decent ones were packed! Wondered into Fran's chocolates and asked the staff there for a recommendation and he said "Alibi Room" by the gum wall! I'm so glad he recommended the place. We ordered 1/2 goat cheese, prosciutto, arugula and 1/2 truffle tre fungi pie. Beer selection amazing and super friendly staff! Had the kilt lifter and it hit to spot. It's nice to find a cozy bar in the midst of the touristy pike place market!

**THIS IS FOR NEW GREENWOOD LOCATION** Alibi Room just opened this week in Greenwood and all I have to say is "AW YEAH, BRING IT ON!" Welcome to the north end! I went after work for happy hour today and it was terrific. We sat outside, had a couple rounds of Moscow Mules (refreshing!) and the $5 happy hour food was a screaming deal! We shared spicy mac n cheese, bacon asparagus pizza and roasted garlic w cambozola. It was all delicious and tasty. The roasted garlic-cambozola thing was reminiscent of Cucina Cucina but that's ok! It's a classic. The upstairs has a bar that they open up on Fri/Sat which is good because I predict the place will be packed. Welcome to the neighborhood, AR!

Love this place! Bar tenders are always great, they have a bit of turn-over and still consistantly find great people to work there. Pizza.. Stellar. Get there for their happy hour for a $5 personal pizza or cheaply build your own. Booze.. yup... they have that. Dancing... If wanna... BUT.... if your friends dont dance..... hahaaaa. nawhhh .. they open up the dancefloor on weekends or you can rent it out for private parties... Legit bar... and a favorite spot in Seattle.

Great hidden gem. Tucked inside the infamous "gum alley".. It is a place to try. There drinks are okay however the pizzas are great. My favorites were the chicken and jalapeño and goat cheese, prosciutto and arugula.. The service could have been better but the food made up for it.

We came here before a show on a Wednesday night and the place was hopping. The beers were cold and the pizza was delicious! Service was good also considering the crowd. My new go to when near the market!

This place is somewhat hidden by the gum wall in downtown Seattle's Pike Place market. I've only been once, though I would definitely go back. A friend and I had come in for lunch, so the place wasn't super busy but still a bit loud for some reason, which was really my only complaint. I haven't tried any of their drinks (being that I wasn't feeling too well when we came in) so I can't comment on it. We did order the Margherita and the Sausage and Basil. Both were delicious and I can't wait to try the others.

Every time i have friends in town, I like to take them to the Alibi Room. They get all googly-eyed as we walk underneath the market, past the gum wall, and into the little hole in the wall entrance. Then I can say, all casual-like, "Oh yeah, this is just a little place I know. No big deal." Sooo hip. Their pizzas are so yummy, served hot out of the furnace on giant cans of olives to elevate them from the tiny tabletop. Last time we had the Classic pie (pepperoni) and the Chicken & Jalapeno -- both delicious and the perfect amount for 3 of us to share. We also had the large mixed greens salad, which has grape tomatoes, cucumbers, and fresh mozzarella balls. Mmmm, cheese. At happy hour their pizzas are a little smaller and a lot cheaper, and they always have good beers on tap. As an added bonus, you can always have free gum when you leave! Wait, that's not what the gum wall is for? Whoops-a-daisy!

I hate giving the Alibi Room a 3 star review. I want to give it more, but we had THE WORST service ever. The location, drinks, and food were all amazing and I would love to go back. However, I don't want to wait 2 hours to get drinks and food. We had a party of 6 and it took a good 45 minutes to get our first drink then another 20 minutes after that before she took our orders. It may have been a fluke where there were understaffed, but we had to remind her several times for simple things like water and silverware, which got to be pretty frustrating- especially since she had a huge attitude. When our food did come, it was fantastic and the drinks were very good. If the Alibi Room can step up their service, this would easily be a 4-5 star pick of mine.

Best Pizza in Seattle! Indeed! Whenever I go to Seattle, I stick some gum and my best friend's phone number in the alley, and then I go to Alibi. Pizza and beer for the the hungry kissing soul. My heart is weak, but this place gives me a good jolt. It's like cocaine mixed with pizza mixed with concrete mixed with sure-fire Seattle goodness. This review is better than your review. Suck it, Robert!

Great different option in the market area. I really liked the Alibi room. I've been to the market 100's of times and never stopped in. Frankly, I didn't even know it was there. It's by the gum wall, which I avoid but the bar seems to largely avoid the standard market traffic. We stopped in for an afternoon drink and were pleasantly surprised. The bar is clean and has an inviting atmosphere. In fact, one wouldn't even know this was adjoining the market from inside. It has a dark tavern like feel and nice fixtures etc. The bartender was friendly and attentive and the drinks were solid. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the food, but the pizza honestly looked fresh and amazing! I'll be back to try a pizza. It definitely got busy as the day wore on but seemed more of a local crowd than walk by tourists, which I appreciated. Definitely give this place a shot if you want something a little different in the market area.

I Traveled to Seattle in the hopes in finding the best pizza in the Pacific north west, i did! The Alibi room not only hit it out if the ball park! It also served up enough great drinks to truly get my saturday night in Emerald city off to a bang!! A must stop for dinner!!

Cheesed out after the Seattle Cheese Festival, but still hungry? Well, if you are like my friend and I, you headed over to the Alibi room for some happy hour grub. Tucked away from the madness of Pike Place, the Alibi Room can be just a wee bit tricky to find, but you should definitely look out for it! The drinks are well made, and if you just want a hard pear cider, well they've got that too. For some reason my friend wasn't as cheesed out as I was and ordered the spicy mac 'n cheese, which she loved. I ordered the truffley mushroom pizza, which was delicious. I'll be back soon enough, I'm sure.

Pizza here rules! Killer selection and superb service. The special pie of the night was asparagus, goat cheese, bacon and onions! Better yet was the meat lovers pie! I could have eaten just one more piece. We wolfed down both had a few drinks, told some tall tales, and laughed loudly! I knocked one star because the bathroom was disgusting and that always makes me think the kitchen could be. The place gets grooving as they have dancing downstairs. We didn't shake our ass there we just filled our tummies:) Great pies, did I mention that?

It's right across from the famous gum wall!! at night, this place turns into bar/restaurant so make sure you have your ID with you! This place turns into very dark at night because they dim the lights to the minimum. It's hard to see what you are eating... You cant really see much. They also have music on while the place being very loud with everyone talking. When I went here, I had to talk so loud that it was very tiring.. Pizza was ok. It wasn't exceptional or anything, but just average pizza. I guess if you have a lot of friends who like dark loud restaurant to eat pizza, this is perfect! But, if you are sensitive to loud sound, this place might not be the right pick for you.

I would never have found this place if it wasn't for the friend I went with. We stopped by on a Friday night and my friend was amazed at how "empty" it was. I was happy with the crowd there. It's a narrow room, so it could get packed quick. We had a few drinks, no food (though I would like to try some) and headed downstairs to check out their "dance floor". It's like watching the mating ritual of some exotic jungle birds down there. TOTAL MEAT MARKET. The ratio of guys to gals was way off (like 15 guys and 7 gals). You could tell the girls just wanted to dance with their friends but 2 or 3 guys would swarm around them any time they hit the dance floor. The edges of the floor are filled with broken glass from dropped drinks (be wary ladies in sandals). The music selectio was so so. When we arrived the DJ was in the middle of an early 2000s bump and grind set and changed over to Skrillex (which me and my friend loved) but it quickly cleared the floor. The dancefloor/lower bar area is quite small. I bet only 30 people could fit down there and it would be HOT and sweaty. I'll try and drag some lady friends out here one night to see what trashy fun we can have.

Pretty good happy hour. I'm not a big fan of this place... mainly because it kinda has a weird smell to me (I'm weird and particular about smells) and it's really crowded. I'm always on standby to get bumped or bonked on the head with every person that walks by me. It's by the very "cool" gum wall in the Post Alley by Pike Place Market. They have a dark basement dungeon you can use for parties... also not a big fan of. Nice things to eat/drink: - Truffle Tre Fungi Pizza (very good) - 206 Martini (very strong) - Spicy mac (it's... okay). I'd go back, but not something I'd proactively pick myself.

If you're anything like me, you'll give your friend a funny look when he tells you you're going to a place called the Alibi Room for dinner. What type of place is this? Who needs the alibi? If it's me, why do I need an alibi? What crime have I allegedly committed? As we walk, my friend tells me that he and some other friends stumbled upon the place one time while staying in a nearby hostel. He can't remember exactly where it is, but is pretty sure he'll be able to find it again. He leads me down an alley of sorts that dips below the shops of Pikes Place, right past the apparently famous gum wall. Hadn't heard of the wall before; and after seeing it, wouldn't be heartbroken if I never saw it again. Next thing I know, we're seated in a dark room that feels like an old mill or artisan's shop. At this point, I'm questioning whether I should have suggested another place from the get-go. But then... the pizza. One bite of that delicious pizza, and all apprehensions flee. The chaos of the surrounding universe suddenly seems like a calm summer morning compared to the anarchy in my mouth as I furiously devour my chicken & jalapeno pizza.

A creative pizza menu for a great price -- For $8 I just had a vegan pizza with homemade pesto and garbanzo beans -- Delicious! And the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with making a menu selection. I'll be back!

A great bar hidden right near Pike's Place and in front of the famed Gum Wall. Solid tap selection. The bar pizza is honestly some of the best I've had. If you're looking for a late night dinner and find yourself near Pike's Place, don't forget to stop by.

This review is for the food. Their pizzas are so mouthwatering! We had the sausage and pepperoni and they did not skimp on their toppings. I'm fan of thin crust pizza so I really enjoyed it. I also tried their macaroni and cheese, which was pretty spicy to the point I can feel it on the back of my throat. I personally liked it but my friend hates spicy food so he let me eat the rest of it. So if you are not a fan of spicy, either skip this dish or ask if they can lower the heat. The service here was not up to par. My friend and I were waiting for our waiter for almost 10 min and I just went up to the bar and placed our order. You see, my friend had to catch the last ferry back to Bremerton by 12:15 ish, and it was pretty late since we got out of seeing chromeo at the showbox. Our waiter never came back to refill our glasses or even to give us our check. I ended up going up to him again to pay it so my friend could go home. Ok so maybe 3 stars might sound harsh for this review...so I'd say this is a 3.5 star rating. But I wouldn't tell friends to not go here because I really do love hanging out here.

When my boyfriend suggested we go here with some friends, I balked. "Isn't that some sort of Belltown dance club?" I asked, mildly horrified that he would subject me to such a thing. Little did I know that the upper floor of this place is actually a pretty chill, decent bar - apparently, the dance floor is hiding downstairs but I didn't venture down far enough to see it. This is one of those dark, cozy bars with fancy drinks. I forget exactly what I drank, but it was some type of citrus-y cocktail; this isn't really a place that makes you want to sit back with a beer. While I enjoyed the ambiance, it's a little too crowded on a weekend night for my taste. We had to wait at the front for awhile before even being allowed in, and it got to the point that I had to go outside in the cold because I couldn't take being bashed into one more time. It was also a little bit loud, although I did enjoy the music selection. If they turned it down just a titch it would be perfect. I don't venture into the more touristy parts of Seattle very often, but if I find myself there looking for a drink again, I'd hit up the Alibi Room - just preferably on a slightly less-crowded night!

Consistently great bartenders! I travel to Seattle several times a year and inevitably end up at The Alibi some afternoon. The bartenders are always super-friendly and helpful. Moscow Mule cocktail is my favorite here with gingerbeer. Crazy good happy hour prices too. Note: It might look closed from the stairs because they have dark window glass coverings. It keeps the bar a pleasant environment all day but can be deceptive from the outside.

YAY ALIBI ROOM! I finally went here for the first time on a Friday night and was soooooo pleased. Myself and two friends were treated to excellent and super friendly service by every employee there and the owner himself. These are some of the most genuine bartenders and hosts I have ever had. The vibe here is perfect. Dark wood and furniture, comfortable temperature, average noise level. This place is completely comfortable without feeling like a dive. That mixed with the delicious drink I had and very good food meant I was already happy with my night. What made me even happier was getting the bill. Cheaper than I expected! Hurray! There is a weird dance club thing downstairs in the basement. I didn't really venture in as it was still kinda early in the night and it mostly seemed dark and awkward down there. My only less than stellar comment is on those weird bathrooms.... they are a little creepy and I wouldn't want to use them if I was claustrophobic.

I just took an entire family from China to the Alibi Room for lunch, they wanted pizza. We waited 45 minutes for them to open, then ordered four calzones; the bottoms were burnt to a crisp, one of the customers was a chef and wanted to speak to the cook, our waitress, Hannah, said she "I don't know what to say." and refused u access to the cook, making excuses ad stating "he's new". Though apologies and a discount were in order we simply got a sharp attitude and no apology. My fiancé was of course angry and I was of course embarrassed. Thanks Alibi, you get the FACE-PALM award. We'll go to Zeeks next time, they're actually friendly and their pizza is way better.

Grab a window seat and a beer, and you can take a (free!) touristy look into a real-Seattler's life. The grimy windowpanes peer out into an alley, and then into rows and rows of local apartment windows. Of course for unlucky me, when I was there, the only thing I could see in the apartments was a cat. And an X-Box. One person was cooking over a stovetop but the blinds were mostly drawn. Not too exciting. I guess it's kind of like whale-watching; sometimes you see them, sometimes you don't. Take a chance. Lastly, I'd recommend the coffee with Bailey's (tip: it's more Bailey's than coffee). Actually, just order the Bailey's, no coffee. The coffee is terrible.

I went here yesterday afternoon w/ some friends as this was a favorite watering hole of theirs. Sadly, the experience was very much lacking. I give it 1 star for service, and 1 star for the fact their happy hour is from 12 -6. The good: - Half off special on pizzas. They bring out a slightly smaller version that is half off the normal menu price - Friends rave about their hummus. Decent, I'd swap out the veggies for pita next time. The bad: - Pretty dark in there, even at 2 pm in the afternoon - Some of my friends arrived first, there were 10 of us in total. The 5 of us that arrived later sat for 15 minutes before I went up to the bar and asked if we could order. The response was "I'll be right there, sorry, I'm really busy." I looked around, there were maybe 8 tables, most of which had food or beverage already, but I figured I'd take his word for it. The waiter comes around to take orders for food/drinks soon after and then says it'll be difficult to split so he'll put it on one check (this is mostly b/c there was no rhyme or reason to his order taking - I know because I watched him scribble down orders). To make it easier to split the bill at the end, I go to the ATM after ordering to get cash. 15 minutes later I arrive back at the restaurant and find no beverages for the latter 5 of us. At this point the restaurant is almost empty. Guess what happened? THE WAITER FORGOT. How do you forget?? Somehow he managed to put the food orders in. Small plus, he gave us one round of drinks on the house for his incompetency. Don't plan on going back unless it's a special occasion.

There are hole in the walls, and then there's the Alibi Room. This place.... I have no words.... It's AMAZING. The food is absolutely mouthwatering. The service is wonderful. The prices are stellar. The flat bread pizzas here are beyond any pizza I've ever had before. The cocktails are inventive, flavourful, and smooth. You *HAVE* to come see this place, and eat here. It's dimly lit, and small, but WELL worth it. It's rustic in a hippie/beetnik sort of way, almost reminiscent of an underground grunge bar from the hair band days! It's amazing. The Greek pie, the Truffle Tre Fungi pie, the Four Cheese pie, and the Dungeness Crab dip are all absolutely to die for. You MUST come visit this place. It's worth the trip, and is a local favourite!

Great get away for the touristy crowd, like a hidden den. Good tap selection and great happy hour menu. This was a thin and crispy pizza, well seasoned and fresh. Got the Greek and it was very tasty. Humus with warm pita was a treat as well. Recommended, but don't tell anyone!

This place is right across from the gum wall (kinda gross, kinda cool) and makes hecka strong cocktails! Stopped by Alibi Room for a drink and a snack before a late dinner. Ordered the spicy mac and it was quite good, probably not Beecher's status but good in it's own right. It was very cheesy and the spice came as a kick at the end of each bite.

Hole in the wall found right across from the gum wall! Was a Sunday night in Seattle and me and my two friends decided to take a night stroll for drinks.. I'll have to admit, it was off the beaten path. But hang a right after the gum wall and its like the secret garden/ dive bar. This place was a little sketchy at first. Dim lighting and a sighting if a man in a bright pink gorilla suit, seriously. Reminded me of a cabin or being under deck on a ship... Haha don't ask me where i get these analogies.. But it's definitely a local dive bar where ppl come for some late night drinks n food. We were still full from eating all day, so just drinks were on the agenda. I only had a cucumber/mint drink. Not great. I expected a lot more flavor. Maybe they didn't marinate the cucumbers long enough?! Who knows. I seemed to babysit my drink due to the fact that it was mediocre. A table next to us ordered some pizza and it looked mighty tasty, if only our bellys weren't about to burst at the seams we would have ordered some. Anywho, our local friend said the second floor was more of a "club" setting on the better nights. Weren't witness to that unfortunately. Overall, OK.. next time in Seattle on a sunday night and looking for some drinks (and a place to stay warm) I'll stop by here...

Fun drink menu. Fun music on both levels. Can't wait to go back! Really like the fresca and the Moscow mule. The server seemed friendly enough. The loud atmosphere was not conducive to conversation but fun nevertheless. Fun location across from the gum wall.

Nuzzled in the alleyway next to the gum-wall, Alibi room has a certain speakeasy appeal to it. You probably wouldn't know it's there if you didn't know that it's there kind of spot. It's pretty petite as an establishment, but well worth the lines to get a seat or a drink. I've seen many local restaurant staff also use this as an after-work decompression room over a few hand-crafted cocktails and a pie or two (pizza for us west-coasters). The pie is legit! The sausage and basil, although very simplistic from an ingredient standpoint, is just teeming with flavor. I could probably kill a 1/2 a pie myself it was so f'n good! Also, for being such a small place, the service staff are very friendly, warm and generally accommodating, which I find to be rare in such a spot in demand. It appears they really try to do what they can to get everyone what they want (a table to dine, a cocktail, point someone to the restroom, etc). Aside from the pie, we only had the bruschetta and the peppered brie/apple/honey, both of which were stellar. Bottom line here is that this is an excellent spot to go out to. If just for a cocktail or for a few apps and some pie, Alibi Room is cozy but has an excellent vibe, great service staff, killer food and a fun ambiance. Get there!

More like 3.5 stars for me. Great hidden away location in the chaos that is sometimes Pike Place Market and right next to the gum wall. The vibe of the place is great - dark, cozy, and quiet. Local beers on tap. I also had the Mac and cheese (which everyone on yelp raved about) but it was not nearly as spicy as I was hoping. Overall, good vibe and good place to have a beer or few.

Even after living in Seattle for 7 years now, I never knew this place (or any place below Pike's) existed and I've been missing out! I came here for drinks with a girlfriend and we were seated right away. The upstairs is fairly small, but tables can be pushed together for large parties. We were seated next to this large group of bachelorette-party ladies who were very entertaining. :) They have a full bar, great beers on draft and HH specials. I had already eaten dinner, but I could smell the fresh baked pizzas all around and it smelled delicious! They have a LOT of pizza options and they only use fresh ingredients from the Market, which I liked seeing. Definitely ordering a pizza next time! What's kind of funny about this place is that after a certain time the downstairs opens up as a "dance floor". My friend and I checked it out briefly and surprisingly it was packed. Semi-older crowd with a lot of couples. Overall, this place has a fun atmosphere, has a unique location (right next to the gum wall in Seattle) and has a lot of options for everyone!

Great bar tucked away in Pike Place Market with views of the gum wall from the bar seats. The ambiance is great: dark, dim lighting, inviting and cozy...great date spot. The bartender was friendly and attentive as were the other bar patrons. They have a nice small selection of local brew and some tasty bites on the menu. We had a few beers and the spicy mac & cheese which was piping hot, creamy, and had a nice crunchy topping. It was not really spicy but tasty nevertheless. Overall a great stop in the area especially if you need a break from the market.

I really enjoyed Alibi Room. We walked from our hotel (Sheraton) and felt like spies in an old movie when we took this alley to our destination. The coolest part about Alibi is the exterior, they have, what is known as the "gum wall" on the outside. People essentially decorate this wall with gum. Pretty sweet, if you ask me. When we got inside, it was dark, but appropriate. Apparently, they had a dj on the bottom floor, but we were starving and the pizzas looked and smelled delicious! After ordering many cocktails, we ordered the caprese salad, pizza with cheese and pineapple and another pizza with feta (yummmy). Everything was seriously so good. I would definitely visit Alibi Room again.

Great vibe on the top floor - plenty of tables, kitchen open late. Pizzas are actually decent - try the margherita - service is quick. Bottom floor is a hot mess, great for dancing but gets packed quickly. Good DJ.

So they have a bunch of 'screen plays' in the front right by the door. My friend and I ordered beers and read the first act of 'Sense and Sensibility', written by Emma Thompson. Awesome.

Tucked into a little nook of Pike Place Market, Alibi Room is both in the middle of it all and away from it all both at the same time. Nice and dark, subdued, the way I like my places, I was enticed by this joint as soon as I saw it. The beer and wine list are adequate, though I suspect most people will come here for the atmosphere, as I did. With Pike Brewing Company just a block away, Alibi Room is not going to compete on the selection. But if you are in the mood to just sink into the background, this place is where to do it.

We came here for lunch, and were kind of nervous when it was empty. No need to be nervous! The food was amazing. They have happy hour prices during the day on Saturday. We ordered the small portion of the mac and cheese to try (based on other reviews), and it did not disappoint! Then we shared the prosciutto and arugula pizza, and caprese sandwich. All were delicious, and we are so glad we stopped here for lunch.

I told my friends that you have to come up with a fake name and alibi in order to get in past the door. Confused and surprised I gave them an example like, "my name is kat and I am running to the store to get groceries." Obviously, I punk'd them. It took a couple minutes for the staff to pull 2 tables together for our group of 6 cuz this place was packed, always a good sign. We all we hungry. We ordered the goat cheese, artichoke pizza and a small chop salad. The salad was delcious and the pizza was devine. I love the flatbread style crust. I have heard many good things about this place from friends and I am definitely coming back here some time.

Small place, relatively hidden in the market. We went there on a recommendation for a burger which is really funny because they have exactly zero burgers on the menu. They do pizza and pretty much only pizza, and they do an excellent job. The crab dip was the best I've had, the servers were really attentive despite a full house, and the pizza was perfect. It was a bit dark and loud on a Thursday art crawl night, so if dark and loud aren't your thing, you might think twice about this place. But if pizza and beer are your thing, then definitely check this place out.

It doesn't get ANY better than this! Situated in one of the most touristy areas of Seattle, it's surprisingly local inside. My first exposure to this place was about 4 years ago on a first date...I feel like they had an extensive dinner menu back then, and I remember it being very good. There was a period of time I didn't come around (shame on me!!), but those days are long gone. This gem serves up some legit cocktails, and their pizzas may be the best in town! You know it's a good sign when all the patrons in the bar are in the food and drink industry themselves! We brought some South African friends with us to try the pizza one Sunday night in May, and they said it was the best pizza they had ever eaten. I heard they even went back again the following night (without us) for a second round! We started out with The Classic, which sounds boring but is actually quite delightful! Then, the bartender recommended we try another pizza, half chicken & peppers and half goat cheese, prosciutto, & arugula. I don't eat goat cheese, but everyone raved about it. I must say the chicken & peppers half was absolutely divine!! Sooo....if you ever find yourself entertaining out-of-town guests in the Pike Place Market neighborhood, take them to the Alibi Room. They'll get a kick out of the gum wall across the alley anyways, and it will give you a good excuse to treat yourself to some amazing food and libations at the Alibi Room!

This was a nice spot to munch & drink. 1 Dark & Stormy and Dungeness Crab Dip, si vous plait. Pretty good. It's interesting to walk downtown mid-week, quiet chill night and then enter here. Alive. Active. Conversations. Et al. Cool beans. And that artwork!

There's no better place to kill the germs on your tongue after licking the gum wall across the alley from the Alibi Room. Please, serve me the strongest alcohol you have so I can sanitize my tongue. Who knows what's been on that wall? Absolutely loved the ambiance - low key, great bouncer (thank you, Don, for the recommendation!), and just an overall hip hangout spot for all you aged hipsters here in Pike Place! I am still feeling the Cucumber Gin Fizz. So refreshing and awakening you were, yet you kept me buzzed. AWESOME!

If you are in the area, you have to check this place out. Not a fan of the club, but the food and drinks are awesome. Nice place to hang out if you have no where to go at night.

Visiting Seattle from NYC, a friend recommended we meet up here in the early afternoon after we landed. Great vibe, beer selection and nosh. Wonderful service and cool place to hang out in this part of town. A little gem of a place under the Pike Public Market mayhem.

for ambiance, i do like this spot. you imagine a bunch of tired, work-beaten dudes with mustaches drinking pints in this dark room back at the turn of the century or something. but there were so many things amiss... located directly across from the most disgusting landmark in seattle (the gum wall), the alibi is tucked away under the bustle of the market. it's not too fancy but not quite a dive (the prices are evidence of that), and they have a semi-wanna-be-fancy menu of appetizers of fancy-shmancy pizzas. we ordered a large spinach salad, which is pretty much what you would expect, and the tres fungi pizza. it had mushrooms and truffle oil on it. honestly, the pizza was just okay. the salad, it was fine. the drinks... again, just okay. then there's the service. our waitress was a bit off-putting. she kept forgetting everything. she didn't come check on us once after the food arrived. she kept us waiting for the bill. i don't know. it kind of annoyed me. i think if i were to go back, i'd just sit at the bar.

Great happy hour. Love the brew and apples on focaccia bread
