I went to Hugo's yesterday for dinner with two different vouchers (LivingSocial and Amazon Local) as an early birthday celebration. They were nice enough to allow us to use two of them and the dinner ended up being affordable for our group of four people. I saw many negative feedback on Yelp so I was a bit nervous when I noticed the prices on the dinner menu & I wasn't sure what we would experience from our visit. My review will be a bit lengthy, so please be patient and put up with it since I have a lot to say about our visit last night :) I was thrown off a bit at first because I normally have to ask the server and/or struggle to find something that is soy/dairy-free (or just eat it and hope I won't get sick), but their menu is free of many ingredients including that. My mom has several allergies and she was able to find something to order to eat safely too. I kept on exclaiming to my group of how it felt so strange but NICE to be able to pick out nearly anything off the menu to eat without going, "Oh I can't get that since it has dairy in it, sigh. Wait maybe that one, oh the sauce has dairy in it...never mind." I didn't do that last night and loved it. Well, let me tell you something. I was BLOWN AWAY with the food. And I got to sample everyone's dishes--it was unbelievable amazing and delicious. We first got a small (homemade?) cracker with hummus dip and it was interesting; I wanted more but we only got two plates with like two small crackers on them. Then our dinner arrived and I could smell the lemon from my "Lemon Chicken" dish. I took a bite and you should have seen my face--wow! It was one of the best chicken dishes I've eaten in a long time. And even better, no soy/dairy in it!! My parents got the beef dish and chicken dish. My friend got the Seafood Spaghetti dish. I sampled their dishes and thought it was great. I was shocked when the server told us that I could pick anything off the dessert menu to use as my birthday treat for free. Even with the TWO vouchers, I was able to get dessert for free? Wow, very generous of Hugo's. I picked the chocolate cake. It was pretty small but very light and delicious. I am used to having chocolate cake taste and feel heavy but this one was not at all. So if you're looking for something rich and heavy/hearty, this is not for you. Pros: *NICE staff and our server was the best. Think his name was Ben? *AMAZING food (4 out of 4 was great, so that's 100% positive experience) *Nice dessert menu option to select from *It was pleasant and relaxing outside on the patio *Positive experience with vouchers and free birthday dessert Cons: *Limited parking. We came on a non-busy day so it wasn't a problem for us *Uncomfortable chairs on the patio: my advise is to put some pads on them *It was a bit difficult to eat off our plates while sitting around the little gas fireplace table. Dad thought it was fine but some of us struggled a bit. But the pro outweighed the con of eating outside on a nice day with delicious food *Some of our food was more of one serving; I was hoping to get some leftovers home for the price of what it cost for my dish, but I guess that is okay. I rather have an amazing and healthy dinner than a heavy, greasy dinner. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because there were some Cons that could have been improved a bit like adding pads to the wooden chairs (my bottom was killing me after only 30 minutes to 1 hour of sitting there and I'm a slender person). Overall--I think that the Pros outweighed the Cons for our visit. Yes it is a bit expensive and don't plan on bringing home leftovers unless you order like 3 different dishes to try out. Hugo's: thank you very much for making my early birthday dinner special with a pleasant server on a nice day with great food that I could eat safely without feeling sick afterwards.

Very good service and very good food. Portions were average. Service was exceptional. In and out in less than an hour. Used a groupon but would probably come back without one. Great atmosphere and prices are decent for vegan/organic dinner entrees. Went with a party of 3 and ordered crab cakes, the house special (rib eye and vegetables) and chicken and mushroom spaghetti. Also got a cup of butternut squash, pear, and apple soup. Over all, a great dinner. Definitely would recommend and return. Thank you Hugo's!

I have to join in with others complaining about the portion sizes. I know that American's are used to large portions, and I know that organic, local, and gluten-free ingredients cost more, but the portions are ridiculously small. My suggestion is to either have smaller plates, lower prices, or simply add some more food to the plate! The french toast tasted great, but i was far from full when I finished it. And, it said it came with a side of fruit. I thought the word fruit implied something plural, but clearly they were thinking of garnish when they wrote 'side', because fruit meant one 2cm thick orange slice. I love the idea of a gluten-free, organic restaurant in Redmond, but sadly this place cannot last with the prices as high as they are and the portions so small. Hugo's just do a few things to make customer's feel satisfied and you may survive the Eastside. The quality and taste of the food is actually great!

A disappointing brunch experience. High prices, small portions, and fair service. Yes, the ingredients are organic and fresh. But, it doesn't begin to make up for the other problems. We will not be going back. Prices and portions are completely out of line with other Eastside restaurants. Don't bother.

This restaurant is by far one of the top 3 on the Eastside. The eastside pales in comparison to Seattle for great restaurants, but Hugo's is EXACTLY what is needed. Very fresh food, healthy and great flavors.

Was surprised to see an "open" sign lit last night, so we opted to drop in to Hugo's even though that wasn't our original destination. The menu, and the chef, is the same as Graces 5 and I enjoyed it every bit as much last night as I had in the past. I'm currently eating a more restricted paleo diet (just meat, veggies, and fat) and was in heaven at Hugo's. Even the pesto is nut and dairy free. The beef bites appetizer and the bacon wrapped filets were fantastic - two enthusiastic thumbs up. Chef even accomodated my request to sub the tomato sauce on the filets for the diet-friendly pesto, and he obliged. It's a little pricey, but the quality of the ingredients are top notch and so is the cooking. I will definitely be back! Note that there is currently no liquor license, so wait a week or two if wine with your meal is important.

We went to Hugo's last night for the first time after purchasing a Living Social coupon. I have a very restricted diet due to a gallbladder issue. A good amount of the items on the menu already met my needs, but they were happy to accommodate any special request. The food was very flavorful. My husband and I both enjoyed everything! And our server was highly knowledgeable and able to make recommendations based on my needs. We will definitely be going back to Hugo's! So happy to find an organic, gluten free and dairy free (cow's milk) restaurant! The restaurant is in an older home turned into a restaurant. Very quaint. The only drawback would be limited parking, but you can find parking around the area pretty easily. I highly recommend.

Not great. I've been going there from the beginning and am always disappointed. The thing is, I want them to be better and it's why I keep trying it again, hoping..

Came here because of gluten free options. Groupon gave me the nudge. Mixed reviews on Yelp but we tried anyway. This place was unbelievable!! Ruth, our waitress/host was so attentive. Our service was great and they took reservations!! (Not really needed on a Wednesday night at 5:30) The food was amazing! Pear bruschetta with goat cheese and sundried tomatoes on GF bread!! Spectacular! Portobello Mushroom Cap with seasoned veggies was so tasty! We also had a vegetable fettuccine that was outstanding! Portions were great, everything was so flavorful! The pomegranate cheesecake was so unique, in a good way! The wine list was interesting and even hosted some organic! Both of our selections were perfect! Looking forward to another great experience in the summer when we can sit outside by the fire pits. Highly recommend!!!

Best Lunch Around I always go to Hugo's when I am in the Redmond area because their sandwiches and salads are so good. It is definitely worth trying if you have not gone before!

This is a perfect little bistro for healthy fine dining. They manage all sorts of dietary restrictions with ease. This is exactly the food I'd want to make for myself to eat every day if I had the time.

Delicious is an understatement. If I were rich I'd pretty much eat here all day every day. ALL day. Yes, the food is a little pricey, but I feel downright healthy after a meal at Hugo's -- and that's not the case for most of my restaurant experiences. My friend and I came here for lunch a couple weeks ago on a beautiful sunny Friday and we were both really psyched -- after seeing pictures of their meals on their Facebook page, it would have been hard not to be excited. We ended up sharing a juice from their fresh juice bar [with lots of delicious beets and greens in it, although I can't remember the name] and she got a half order of rawcos and I got their peppered salmon filet. I'm not gluten free, but their open faced sandwich was soooo good. The salmon was a little more well cooked than I'd expect fresh salmon to be, but it was still well seasoned and was amazing with their goat cheese garlic aioli. I'm a huge fan of anything called "aioli" and this was no exception -- I even had the foresight to order an extra ramekin of it to go along with my sweet potato fries, and I'm so thankful I did because they made an amazing pairing. I stole a few bites of my friend's rawco and I didn't even miss the meat with the yummy sunflower seed faux-meat they piled onto a huge, beautiful swiss chard leaf. We chased it with their gluten free carrot cake, which came to us warm and so moist and it was the perfect sweetness level... I would definitely not skip their dessert options. Our server [I think her name was Esther?] was also super sweet and helpful with all our questions. Spending $25 on lunch isn't something I generally try to do, but when the food is as delicious as Hugo's, I'll make an exception. So. Freakin'. Yummy. I wish they had a standalone juice bar so I could just drop by and end up with delicious organic yumminess.

Had a business lunch here and thought it would be good...but NOT! Service was great, but food was terrible. Every one of us didn't like our food, from pasta to soup. We were politely given 50% off our bill, but sorry, doesn't make up for bad food. Won't be going back. Too bad; Redmond needs a good healthy alternative, and this isn't it.

My husband loved Graces 5 that was previously at this location so when Hugo's opened with a very similar menu we were very excited to try it. We started with the pear bruchetta. It was 4 bite size pieces of bread with pears and balsamic vinegar. No shallots, no chevre, no sundried tomatoes as it was described on the menu. And the bread was store bought quality. And it was $14. Honestly, if you are going to specialize in gluten free organic cuisine then the bread should be higher quality than what I buy at QFC. Next, we both had chicken parmesan (no, not parmagiana--parmesan). The pasta was okay, not mushy which was nice. The sauces were extremely underseasoned and there was next to no cheese on the chicken in spite of the name of the dish (of course the description said it was supposed to have gouda cheese, not parmesan. There was so little cheese I don't know which kind it was supposed to be anyway). Our friends had the mac and cheese with overcooked steak tips and salmon that they reported was adequate but nothing to write home about. They were disappointed in the garlic bread. We all left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. The food was extremely overpriced for the quality and even the kind servers couldn't make up for what was an incredibly lackluster dining experience. The worst part is that afterwards we were shocked to find we had food poisoning. Our friends who were with us did not have it so we think that the chicken was mishandled. I can't remember the last time I was so disappointed in a restaurant and this experience was so awful that it prompted me to write my first review on YELP.

My wife is allergic to gluten and dairy, so it is very difficult to find anything (other than stead and potatoes) for her to eat at any restaurant that we go to. Since Hugo's is entirely gluten free and dairy free (they use goat cheese), my wife was able to eat literally everything on the menu. We came across Hugo's on Groupon, and got $50 worth for $25. We visited Hugo's on a Friday evening right as they opened so we were able to be seated immediately. The restaurant inside and out is gorgeous and warm. All servers were welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The food was amazing!!! We started with the cheese flatbread, which was simply a small pizza but it was very good. The crust was crispy and had very good flavor. For our entrees, we had the Bacon Wrapped Ribeye and the Chicken Parmesan. The Bacon Wrapped Ribeye was cooked exactly as we ordered (not a given at a lot of places) and the goat cheese made it even better. For the Chicken Parmesan, we got a large piece of chicken that was cooked perfectly and the dairy free alfredo sauce was not your typical alfredo sauce (cause of the goat cheese) but was wonderful. Overall, the portions were perfect. For dessert we had the brownie and vanilla ice cream. This was the only bad part of our meal. The brownie had a very strange taste, which I am pretty sure was because of the coconut milk that they use to make it. In summary, great food, kind of expensive but worth it since literally everything is gluten free and dairy free, but need some work on the desserts. We are already planning for a return trip.

Gluten-free heaven! It is an incredible feeling to sit in a restaurant and know I can order anything on the menu and not worry whether or not there's gluten in it. I've been here when it was Grace's 5 numerous times and was releived to hear it re-opened as Hugos. You know the food will be good when those little crackers they give you before you even order is delicious. I've had nearly every pasta dish. I will go back again, I do want to try their brunch.

As a new...fan...of vegan food (I'm cautious--I still like some flesh), I've had a couple good experiences with Hugo's. Had lunch with a good friend both times. The first time, I wasn't into vegan fare and, I don't know, felt like I was missing something. The experience wasn't exceptional, except for the company. Still, the food was good and the service was fine. Not gonna ding 'em for my hang-ups. The second visit was after embracing a more natural fare. I had salmon and an incredible salad. Farmers' Market, I think it was called. So frickin' good.... Anyway, service was fabulous, the day was beautiful (we sat outside) and I had a great visit with my friend. The only thing that was less than wonderful was the raspberry sorbet. While it was really tasty, there were WAY too many seeds. I think they could have done something about that. It's a shame, too. It was really good otherwise. I'm not a person to take into consideration what others say about their experiences when I review services or places. I know that all places and people have good days and bad days. I was happy with my portion size for what I ordered (although, I could have eaten my way out of a bathtub filled with that salad). The staff is professional and polite and the restaurant is clean and inviting. I will visit again.

Really Love : The kale salad The fresh juice bar Zucchini noodles Rawco Crab cakes Not so much love: The desserts, I guess I prefer mine with gluten - I found them a bit underwhelming. They have a nice wine list and I'm looking forward to sitting on the patio this summer! The service is friendly and attentive. I'm not gluten free so please don't let this stop you from trying Hugo's , it's fresh and creative and healthy!

I have eaten here twice this week. First time for Dinner and the food was delicious. I really liked the Iced Tea with Agave sweetner on the side. It was really delicious. I had the Farmers Salad and the Chicken Marsala for dinner! Both were delicious and very flavorful! Today for lunch I had the Salmon sandwich with the Spinach sald and it was also very tasty! The service is also great! Very friendly staff!

I'm in the "I really want to like this place" boat. We had the gluten free pasta and the halibut special. The halibut was dry, and a bit gamy. The pasta did not come with the pesto as ordered and the chicken had a bad taste (as in rotten). I know this can happen, but striking out on both dishes? We were able to get another plate for the pasta with chicken for no additional cost, which tasted very much like hamburger helper. $100 dollar tab for 2 people, unacceptable for the quality. The juices were amazing though, that's why they get a star.

I've been here for both lunch and dinner. The food was great both times. I will say that the place is a little smaller/a touch crowded and sometimes the wait staff is under staffed. But I really believe that this place deserves 5 stars because it is the only restaurant like it in our area! Unlike other restaurants, the food is high quality and healthy. You will leave feeling great! Especially good if you've ever been identified as someone who eats lots of health food.

We got a groupon so we decided to try out the place. I wasn't super impressed. The juice that I had was delicious, however after having problems where they had to make my Sausage omelet 3 times (first time it had cheese and I had asked them not to put any in it, and the 2nd time they forgot the sausage), and to be honest it wasn't anything special. Staff was nice, and our server felt really bad about this (they weren't super busy as it was later in the day), and they tried to make it up.

This place is unbelievably good! It's perfect for people who get how important your health is, there's no price on that. Freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, amazing organic food, soy-free, dairy-free and gluten free! You get exactly what you pay for, love this place! I hope they open up a location in downtown Bellevue!

So I definitely went to Hugo's with a fair amount of apprehension and skepticism. I had heard a few good things and a few bad, but I was willing to give it a try when my lunch buddy made the choice. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised! The good: Portion size, speed and attentiveness of service, flavor of almost all the food. The bad: parking is certainly an issue. Food temp - if you tell me the salmon sandwich is going to be mid rare, don't serve it mid well. It still tasted great but I was expecting something different. I found the price point to be in line with the food. It is nice to have a GF, organic, soy free restaurant in Redmond.

  • Asha R.

Went there with an Amazon Local deal....food portion was small and it was expensive. That is not an issue though...the biggest issues was the taste of the food and the service. There were only 5 tables (out 20) and they were not busy. The one waitress was super slow and inattentive. I could have made the food myself and it would have tasted better.

What a fantastic little gem. I had a salad with chicken and it was delicious. Love that the coffee comes in a french press, rather than just a standard drip. Lot's of tasty sounding items on the menu that I can't wait to try.

I was so excited to find a place that offered such a healthy-looking menu and the food was good...not incredible...but good. I especially liked the pear bruschetta but it was presented in a way that was difficult to eat. That's about the only positive thing I can say. The indoor restaurant smells bad, like a moldy old house. It was a nice day out but the windows are painted shut so there is no chance of getting outside fresh air. The wait service was awful. Both wait staff people seemed totally uninterested in their jobs. Ours spilled water on our table and said he would get a rag to clean it up, then apparently forgot. Even though there were very few other guests around, we were repeatedly neglected when we wished to ask for something. Please: fix the odor problem, train the staff to be responsive and positive, quit dumping dirty dishes in view of customers!

I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times. I had meat dishes both times that were quite good. My gluten free friend adores Hugo's because she can order right off the menu, where else where she's "Gluten Free" girl. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about what they serve. The cheese cake is great. Don't worry, it don't have any cheese in it.

We've been fans of Graces 5 and now Hugo's for a while! I was so sad when I saw that Graces 5 had closed but then super excited when I discovered that Hugo stayed on and took over the restaurant. All the times I've been there I've loved the food. The gluten-free pasta is amazing, especially the chicken & mushroom spaghetti. The pasta doesn't taste "gluten-free" at all and is even better than regular pasta. The other part I get really excited about before going to this restaurant is the juicing menu. I always get something from their fresh juice bar when I'm there -- it's so good that I think I will try everything on the juice menu eventually. The food is superb too...we will be going there a lot, as my fiance and I bought 3 vouchers for the restaurant. Oh, and the flaxseed appetizer they serve at the beginning, when you first sit down, is one of my very favorite things. Just so many good things about this restaurant! In addition to their organic, gluten-free, and super healthy offerings, the food is tasty! It's my go to place on the eastside now.

Same as other reviewers here, I have been to the Grace 5 before and liked the food, so I decided to give this one a try since it looks similar. I would say that it's nice they are trying to go for the healthy concept and organic ingredients. However, for the service and the food itself, it's definitely overpriced. I ordered the Salmon for $25 and got a piece same size as my phone and overcooked. Boyfriend ordered the Chicken Marsala, better than mine, not so dry, but still overcooked and a bit bland. The only highlight of the whole meal is the pomegranate cake, which is very tasty, and I think Grace 5 used to serve it as well.... Overall, food and service I would give 2 stars, but because of the efforts for healthy and organic concept, I give them one more star. I think they have a lot to work on their food, both taste and portion, otherwise, may just end up with the same fate as Grace 5....

wow...what a huge disappointment this place turned out to be on so many fronts! i came here for sunday brunch and it was horrible. let's talk about the service, shall we? our server was uninformed about the menu and the potential allergens in each dish. he had to keep going back and asking the kitchen. for a place that is supposed to be allergy-aware and cater to the allergic crowd, i expected so much more! besides that, the place had 3 tables going when we arrived but still the service was sooooooo slooooow! if i was alone, i would have walked out. as for the food, it was tasteless and the servings are tiny. if you're going to go for the upscale, tiny portion vibe, you need to make the food amazing. the side of veggies was half raw - and i'm talking about raw root vegetables, and the polenta was tasteless. the side of potatoes was, seriously, 4 pieces of quartered small potatoes. hubby had the crab cakes entree. i wonder what the crab cakes app looks like because this was a plate of 3 teeny tiny little mounds of under-seasoned crab with the same sad few potatoes and undercooked veggies. does the app only have one cake? or no sides? hmmm... the latkes appetizer was a joke. they were soggy, warmed over patties. latkes are supposed to be fried cakes, crispy on the outside. these were limp and unseasoned sad little things. i'll never be back and neither will hubby nor our dining companion.

I would love to give a great review, they are obviously trying very hard, but as a vegetarian gluten free customer I have to say I make much better myself at home, and waaay cheaper too! $14 for a half of a sliced tomato and half an avocado - yeah, I appreciate it's restaurant prices/organic etc etc but seriously?? Nothing was really bad (apart from the wine - an organic Tempranillo that was so young it hasn't left kindergarten yet) yet was all so forgettable and bland. Someone on another review made a comment about how delicious the flax seed crackers were - I would compare them to a delicious placemat myself.

Food was blah, we expected much more from an organic restaurant. The food should have been bursting with flavor and it just wasn't, especially for how pricey it is. Maybe their juices are great but if you're hungry go elsewhere.

AMAZING healthy food! Perfect portions, great presentation. Loved the complimentary flax seed cracker starter. Left feeling completely satisfied and full. So glad to have another organic restaurant to go to! I think the people that are giving it one or two stars have a different appreciation for food. And no, I probably wouldn't bring kids here. They don't have a "kids menu" with junk food! The food costs more because it's organic, people!! I will absolutely come back here! Really cute setting. We sat outside on their awesome deck! Definitely my new favorite restaurant!

My husband and I ate at Hugo's for the first time (but certainly not the last) tonight. What a treat! The food was fresh and fabulous-- absolutely delicious. Great service and a charming, peaceful ambience. I can't wait to go back and try more of the great food. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions.

I have been on a gluten/dairy/sugar/alcohol free diet for a few weeks and was craving "normal" food, so when the Hugo deal came up on Livingsocial, I bought one and decided to use it immediately. And what a disappointing meal it was! The food itself wan't that bad. We ordered the appetizer crab-cakes, latkes and fresh roll, which while being quite pricey, were tasty. The main problem was with the service. There were three servers in total - but only one person seemed to be doing the work. The lady who sat us, was the person to bring us our menu, take our order and bring our food. The other two servers were just kind of floating around. I ordered a cup of tea which never showed up despite a reminder. They actually said that the water was boiling for my tea. My husband ordered a glass of wine and it was a tiny pour...almost like a tasting size. The young man who served us the wine insisted that it was 6oz and actually bought out a wine-glass with a marker line on it that he uses as a measuring cup. So my husband did his own "scientific experiment" - he marked his glass and after finishing the wine, poured water up to the mark and carried that water back home in a kiddie-cup to measure...it was 4oz! :) I ordered the sea-food pasta...it was tart and under-seasoned without much flavor to it. For $25 it seemed like a waste. I still packed it and brought it home...tomorrow I'll probably toss it with some garlic, herbs, pepper flakes and salt and make it edible. I'm being generous and giving two stars, because the appetizers were somewhat tasty. But I'm definitely not going back there...neither will I recommend the place to anyone.

Love this place. Elegant food and great environment. I love their Portobello mushroom dip sandwich. The sweet potato fries are actually sweet potato and taste amazing. They use really fresh and organic produce. The salads are fabulous. My only negative is the parking which is a little tricky. I would vote to walk in after coming by bus, the Redmond Transit center is a short walk away. :)

Ordered the Chicken Mushroom Spaghetti to go for my son... (who was having surgery in 3 days) got it home and my son brought it to me and asked what kind of meat was in it.. I said Chicken, he then asked " if chicken should look like this?" I looked at it and the chicken was RAW!! We fed it to our dogs:( thumbs down, way down... Also would like to add that while 9.5 alkaline water is great, it is not so great when you are eating... do some reading on it people.. it is awesome for you in the morning to begin your day,

Lovely atmosphere, polite waiting staff. Wasn't told about adding shrimp to my pasta dish was going to cost 6 dollars, and charges 3 dollars for 1 piece of garlic brad. Pricing and the way it was charged makes the place seem a bit greedy. Food quality was ok, not great but place has a beautiful patio.

Went here with a Groupon for the first and last time. We had high hopes going in as we love raw fresh simple food, but it was a complete disappointment. The portions were small and the food was just blah. My wife ordered the "large" raw zucchini noodles which were probably the highlight of the meal, although the portion was tiny. I can't imagine what the small looked like. I ordered the crab cakes and it came with a side of fingerling potatoes (three roasted fingerlings) and about three forks worth of sauteed vegetables, that were so limp and overcooked that I can't even remember what they were. The crabcakes were small and tasted like they'd been made from crab meat from a can. They were okay, but I could have gotten the same quality out of a frozen box at the grocery store. Actually, I've had far better crab cakes out of my freezer. We tried to salvage the meal by sharing a dessert of raw mango cheesecake. What arrived at the table only resembled cheesecake in that it was shaped like a piece of pie. Once again, the portion was noticeably small, no crust of any kind, and containing no cheese of any kind. I think it was some kind of cashew mash with silken tofu with mango sauce. I like tofu, but I had ordered and expected cheesecake. Regardless, I thought it was rather gross in looks, texture, and taste. Overall, I could have easily made a better meal at home for a quarter of the price. Very overrated and overpriced.

Had breakfast there this recently, and was truly unimpressed. First of all, we had to ask for coffee after about 5 minutes. Then it took almost 10 minutes to get the coffee. When it finally came, the coffee was served in a french press. Yes it was good, but they don't have "cream" for the coffee. All dairy free, except for cheese. I thought cheese was dairy. By the time our food came out over 25 minutes later, what coffee was left, was cold. There was only one other table occupied in the whole place. We ordered the spinach combo omelette with bacon. There was no spinach in the omelette and the bacon was almost raw. We had asked for crispy bacon Maybe one or two mushrooms in the whole thing, which was dried out. I asked why there was no spinach and the sever tried to say, that the sprinkling of parsley / green stuff on top of the omelette was the spinach. Also the breakfast potatoes, that came with the order were lukewarm at best (probably about 10-12 small dices). The sever did bring me more spinach, but it was drenched in garlic. Trying to make a point I guess. The concept, organic and all that is a good idea, but the place fails to deliver a good product with the food and the service. I will never go back, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Too bad, Redmond needs to have more good places to eat. I would say that it was a 2 small egg omelette, dried out and for $20.00, not worth the price. They did not charge us for the raw bacon omelette, when we complained and that is the only good thing I can say about this place. Save your time and money and go someplace else.

The only place I can go that I know will not make me sick. Having Celiac's disease is not easy... this place might be expensive but it's a price I have to pay to be healthy. The food is amazing! It melts in your mouth! From the bread to the dessert it is fantastic. The server's are all very knowledgeable about the products and willing to accommodate the best they can. They get most of their produce from Full Circle Farm (love them too). I really feel like I am helping out and supporting the community by coming here. I live in Renton, WA so it is a bit of a drive but worth it. I usually only come when I have a groupon (they have them all the time!) so help with finances but beyond that no complaints. I know it is NOT CHEAP to prepare and cook Gluten Free since I have to do it at home every day! I really appreciate everything they are doing and love that there is a local place I can go to and get healthy, quality food every time I go. I can't wait to go in for Valentines Day next week. See you all at 7:30pm!! WOOHOO. Thanks HUGO!

So glad they're back! I was a big fan of Grace's 5. We're so lucky to have a local place with a delicious menu of local, organic, gluten free, now cow dairy foods. My body feels at it's peak when I eat this way, and it's nice to go out, eat the way I need to, and let someone else do the cooking! Four starts instead of five, based on experiences at Grace's. I love that they have a juice bar, but when I order it, it is usually served with the meal instead of in advance. I think of the juice the same as a glass of wine; something to sip on, stimulate digestive juices, and level out the blood sugar while I wait for my meal. Same with ordering coffee with my dessert. I'd like to sip on the coffee while I wait for the dessert, and level out the sweet with some bitter when I am eating the dessert, but there are times when it hasn't come until I'm halfway through the dessert. Still love this place, these are just little things that could make the experience 5 star instead of 4. If things are different the next time I go, now that it's Hugo's, I'll edit my review, delete this, and give them 5 stars. :)

Loved the little house and old fashioned atmosphere. Our waitress was super retro and cool. Great service. The drizzle sauces were same from plate to plate on the appetizers and so not really impressed about the food - for the $$$ prices the food pairings could be a bit tighter. Need a bit more creativity in the kitchen. Might be a good date night spot.

I'm glad to see some restaurants in Redmond that focus on high quality ingredients. We brought a large party there and everyone left pretty happy. I thought the food could have been a bit tastier for the price though the juice bar was great. The kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed with the large crowd - some people received food after others were done eating. Not a big deal though since that is not a usual situation - 4 stars, check it out if you like good food and don't mind paying a bit more!

My husband and I recently started eating gluten and dairy free. What a pleasure to find a place with great food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Hugo's is a must for anyone looking for a nice evening out without worrying about eating something that will leave you uncomfortably full, congested or puffy in the morning. Even if you're just looking for a great meal, with no dietary constraints, Hugo's is a wonderful place for a quiet, relaxed meal.

Back on top! Hugo's has gotten over their startup pains and have great food again. Their prices may seem a bit high but I feel they are reasonable considering the thought that goes into the selections and preparation.

I have been there twice in past month. Both times were very good. Server was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Lunch prices were reasonable and not that different from other restaurants. Salads were yummy and the dessert (choc rasberry cake) was great. I LOVE knowing everything is gluten, dairy and soy free - I can relax and enjoy the food. Dinner was a little spendy, but for the quality it was excellent. I'll be back!

Thank God there is an organic restaurant somewhat close to me and another thank goodness that it is worthy of my business! We went here late afternoon on a Sunday and were pretty much the only ones there since it was that weird hour in the day. First off, they have the best water courtesy of an expensive alkaline system...delicious and jealous! Second the lady that served us was so sweet and just a genuine person. The food was amazing. We all had the Steak sandwich with the mango vinaigrette salad (something like that). The salad was the best I have had in a long time. The veggies were fresh and vibrant. The dressing just danced on my mouth. The steak was perfectly cooked and the bread was super tasty. The bread though is only 70% organic she said which is probably the only disappointing thing. Overall highly recommend. Wish they would add a burger to their menu and then I would be one happy camper!

Food is just okay - probably more like a 3 star rating, but with the combination of VERY SLOW service and wait staff that seem to be completely disengaged, it is not worth it. We have been there twice since it changed to Hugos and it took us 1 hour to get our food both times. In both cases, there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant and even though it was slow for the first 45 min, she made no effort to go at even an average speed. She also didn't adjust as the place got busy. 3 of my friends have had this same experience and have also decided it's not worth it to return.

The parking is very difficult. Very narrow driveway in with cars parked on one side. In addition, I had the Cesar kale salad which had a good taste. However the chicken that I purchased extra to put on top was not only expensive at six dollars, but it was like leather to bite into. My daughter had the mac & cheese and although she said it wasn't bad tasting it's not something that she would likely remember. My son-in-law I had the burger and he said it was very good and tasty. I think it's overpriced for what you get. The waitress was wonderful and prompt. They do have excellent cucumber water that was delicious! Not sure I would go there again.

Was on day 10 of the Whole Food diet and my friend suggested Hugo's for dinner. Had heard about them and since I had never been we gave them a try. So glad we did! Sat outside on their front "porch" and enjoyed the end of a sunny day. Service was great and our waitress went out of her to way to assure me they could customize anything I wanted to meet my needs. My friend and I both got the crispy kale salad (no cheese or croutons) and it was delish! I had a side of mixed veggies as I wasn't super hungry and she got the chicken marsala. The veggies were super flavorful but a tiny bit oily. My friend's chicken was cooked perfectly and came with a side of the veggies and a baked potato that she said tasted great. Was the food a tad bit pricey? Yep, but you are also getting organic food and if you aren't willing to pay for it then maybe not the place for you. Service - 5 star! Location - 4 star (faces a busy road) Food - 4.5 star Check them out and come willing to try new things!

As an experienced raw foodist I came to Hugo's with low expectations. I have eaten at many completely raw vegan restaurants from LA to New York. Many times I walk away feeling weighed down and feeling that the food is overly done. Not the case here. I have to say that it was probably some of the best constructed raw food I'd ever had. The only disappointment was the sweet potato "hummus" that came with the crackers before the meal. It was not at all appetizing looking. Really runny, thought it was a sauce of some sort. Flavor lacking any resemblance of hummus. But can't say it ruined our meal in any way. Our Raw Cacao cheesecake was divine. Best choice of crust I've ever had. I left feeling great. Thank you for giving me such a nice option for dining out.

Ever pay $70 for a couple lean cuisines? No? If that's not up your alley, skip this place. We were seated at a small table in the corner in a little house that had a decent turnout. Not crowded but it was definitely understaffed and staff was underwhelming to say the least. We ordered drinks & our entrees. About 20 minutes went by before my 7 year old was short of begging for his lemonade. Our server acted annoyed and came back to juice some lemons because apparently they had been "out". The juicer is so EFFING LOUD. Any ambience they had...gone. Our server even left mid-shift (I watched her drive away in her car) without a word to us about it. Next came out our entrees. An hour later & lukewarm. My son had chicken skewers & sweet potato fries (read: two small pieces of a chicken breast with no seasoning and wedges of boiled/soggy sweet potato). My husband's dish, Lemon Chicken, had some weird syrupy sauce on it that taste spoiled & off. It was inedible so he ate a baked potato with 1/3 cup of veggies for dinner. Diet without meaning to. My dinner ($39) was a grass-fed rib-eye steak with a port sauce. Medium rare was medium well, and the sauce tasted so blah it ruined any authentic beef flavor. My favorite thing? The water. I'm not kidding. We were so ready to be out of there. I really question whether the meat & poultry here is actually organic/grass-fed and where it sourced from. We only buy this type and it tastes nothing like this unless they somehow extract the deliciousness and sell it on the black market. We will not be back. Please take these reviews to heart and don't waste your time or money here.

I really liked the quaint house the restaurant is set up in. It is homey and cute! Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. The pear brushetta had great flavor with sweet pears and a savory balsamic vinegrette drizzled ontop. The mac and cheese was so-so, I would not recommend it as the flavor was bland. The chicken stroganoff was more flavorful, with lots of organic chicken and mushrooms. The best part of the meal was the raw cashew based pomegranate cheesecake. It was light and fluffy with coconut nectar and raw cacao drizzled over it....YuM! All the ingredients were raw which meant even though it was a dessert, we were getting the maximum nutrients from the cashews, pomegranate, and cacao. I will definitely be back to try more on the menu!

I'm visiting from South Carolina. We don't have any restaurants around us that are gluten free. I have to say yum! I had the hamburger enormous but delicious. My mother had the Cesar salad with grilled chicken. My son and daughter had items off there children's menu a Hawaiian pizza and Alfredo served on spaghetti noodles. Everyone enjoyed the food. A little expensive but we don't normally go out for dinner. It's great eat here!!!!

We came here early for valentines day dinner. We like to eat organic and my boyfriend found this place. The atmosphere was romantic. Super quaint. The quality of food was fresh and delicious "Protein bite "steak for an appetizer Melted in your mouth . The salmon was fresh an delicious . I had the porta Bella mushroom . Everything was good. We will be back this summer to eat on the deck .

So overpriced! Boring vegetarian options. Portobello mushroom cap at $18 or fettuccine with veggie in olive oil at $20. These are the same overpriced veg options at any steak house. They weren't horrible, they just weren't worth the price. My advice to Hugo: Stop with the Groupons and just offer good food, fair portions, at a decent price. AND come up with a signature vegetarian dish. Until then, I'll just cross the bridge to Cafe Flora.

We have eaten here 3 times now and are going to pick up take out tonight also. This place exceeded our expectations by far! The quality of the ingredients is off the charts incredible, and to have this type of food available in a restaurant setting is a breath of fresh air. Even our kids were in love with the food. I really hope this place survives and is successful here in Redmond. Go!

The gluten/lactose intolerant side of me is singing right now! Everything is made dairy free and gluten free here. I had the chicken and mushroom pasta and it was delicious after a dash of pepper was added. The Hugo's salad was a beautiful blend of ingredients, however, slightly overdosed with sweet/tart. I plan to return and get dessert (brownies!) and try the GF beer.

  • Amanda B.

I thought the meal that we had was really delicious and the service was nice but the desert was really gross... I make gluten free and vegan treats all the time so when I tried the GF brownie and coconut ice cream, it took me back to the dark ages of gluten free confections, the brownie was bland with the texture of rubber and the coconut ice cream was mostly ice with no flavor! My other complaint would be price, it was so expensive that this would never be a regular stop even though it's hard to get a yummy GF meal of "normal" food. We may be back for a special occasion like mother's day.

My wife and I have been here several times and really enjoyed it each time. We have been impresses with the quality and service. I saw some review concerned with portion sizes. However for us it has been good. We often take some food home. Definitely not inexpensive but if you can get a coupon or Groupon it can be part of a very nice evening.

Overpriced. Very salty. Organic yes. But not my idea of healthy. Zucchini salad was like a salt lick. Beef protein bites were tasty but too salty and overpriced. Kale salad included too many yellowed pieces of kale. Main courses are small portions and overpriced. Not impressed. Should have turned back at least some of the food but didn't want to upset the dinner out so dealt with it. Tempted to try again with big requests to reduce salt. But we'll see.

Overpriced "gluten-free," "local," and "sustainable" food that translates to having a bunch of shit layered on top each of other while not having any sort of unity is a similar concept to having a douche send you dick pics. We are not nearly as obsessed with your lopsided junior or your pricey black truffle oil infused wheatgrass wafer cracker as you think we are. Both will be subjected to ridicule in my circle. A good friend of mine has many food allergies, so we all wanted a restaurant at which he could eat. Other than cat food, Hugo's was our best choice. I ordered the zucchini noodles tossed with black olives, sunflower seeds, and some type of oil. What I thought would be an interesting alternative to pasta with finely shaven zucchini tossed in a flavorful oil ended up being like face-planting on a patch of grass. If I wanted to have grass, I would drive down SR-99 and smoke it instead of chewing something as bland and uninspired as the zucchini noodle. For dessert, I had the avocado mousse for a whopping $8.00. One of many stupid decisions in my life, right behind using 1-ply toilet paper as an absorbent pad. It was creamy and good, but that comes with the nature of an avocado, not of any sort of mastery technique by the chef. The bill for my dinner ended up being over $20.00. It would probably be the worst $20.00 I've spent this year if it weren't for being with my friends and the exceptional service. Our waitress was a very sweet and kind woman, doing her job by persuading us that everything on the menu was delicious. In reality, the menu is like a butchered Pinterest experiment. Hugo's is something you hit and quit.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My wife picked this spot out for Mother's Day brunch as they had some vegan options and I am a vegan. Perhaps that's why this experience was so terrible for me, as everyone else was subjected to terrible food, although none of the other members of our party were vegans. It was a two-course meal. I started with a "creamed zucchini" dish, that was basically zucchini pureed into soup with a lot of salt added. Nothing spectacular, but not terrible. My wife started with a fruit plate, which was about two strawberries cut up with a few grapes and oranges. Very small portions; perhaps 1/2 a cup. For the main dish, I had vegan french toast, which was barely edible. It was doughy, very heavy, and the pieces were cut into random shapes for some unknown reason. It did not resemble bread slices. I make lots of vegan breakfasts, including pancakes and toast, and they are always fluffy and delicious, unlike what I had at Hugo's. I'm not sure why gluten-free equates to barely-edible at Hugo's since I have inadvertently eaten many baked foods in my day that I would have never guessed were gluten-free. My wife and in-laws had the Eggs Benedict (one with crab cakes, and the other two were traditional). It was unanimously agreed that the hollandaise was bland, the biscuits were doughy, and the poached eggs were over-cooked (solid yolks). We all had something resembling hash browns on the side (maybe half of one medium potato each). After waiting for literally an hour for our food, the waitress puts the plate down in front of my father in-law and says, "so the potatoes are a little burnt, is that ok?" Since it was Mother's Day, we had already waited for an hour, and our 2 year old was getting restless, we didn't make a fuss and accepted the food. I must say that I eat out all the time, and I've never had a server bring me burnt food and ask if I was okay with that, especially when the plate cost $35 (and it's Mother's Day!!!). My 2 year old had $15 pancakes off of the kids menu (spaghetti, mac & cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich were the brunch menu offerings for children), that did not come with any side dish. We were told it would be four pancakes (which sounded like a lot) but what we received were four tiny misshaped blobs of, you guessed it, doughy crap. Even drenched in syrup, my daughter wouldn't eat them. We all had a mimosa (except for my daughter of course), which were pretty decent, and made with fresh squeezed juice. The total bill came to over $240 (before a tip) and no one was happy with their meal. I will say this was the worst dining experience of my life. Not only will I not go back, I'm looking for other review sites (after I'm done writing this review) so I can hopefully save others from wasting a pretty chunk of change on terribly prepared food. It's cool to cater to people with special dietary needs, but only if A) the food is good and B) the price you pay is reasonable for what you are getting. Hugo's is gouging their customers by charging exorbitant prices for, honestly, food that I would be embarrassed to serve to my friends/family. It seems like they are taking advantage of a niche market, as they emphasize gluten-free, organic, and vegan on the menu. While organic food is more expensive, it does not justify the price you pay at Hugo's. I can get organic salads all day in Seattle for $8. I can get vegan burgers for $12 just about anywhere. I would give 0 stars if that was an option. I will never be returning, and I'll be happy when I see the doors close on this restaurant, as this place is perpetuating the misconception that vegan (and gluten-free for that matter) food cannot possibly taste good. Hugo: you may want to go back to culinary school or hire a new chef, because your food is some of the worst I've ever eaten.

Came here because my wife bought a Groupon deal. We sat outside in what was a rather charming seating area full of fire put tables. This outside area is why I gave this restaurant two stars instead of one. All went downhill from there. Water was warm. The flaxseed crackers they tasted bad. The plates for sharing were tiny. The $6 extra we paid for beef for the salad bought us a few really thin pieces. The mac & cheese we ordered took 40 minutes to come out and wasn't particularly cheesy, nor tasted good. We left hungry. Very disappointing. Definitely not coming back.

I would definitely suggest finding Gluten Free elsewhere. If it wasn't for the Groupon I would have never came here. The first thing that I noticed as we sat down at the deck patio was that for decorations they had put cucumber slices along the edge of the deck. The next thing was a waiter brought out this cracker looking item and then put it on the table and left. No explanation of what it was or anything. Though the cracker wasn't bad with what seemed to be an apple sauce dip that was just the beginning! I had read reviews prior to coming here and decided that I would stick to the amount on the Groupon and my boyfriend and I would share different items. We got the Pear Bruschetta, which was maybe two tiny slices of bread cut up into quarters with some pear slices and a TON of balsamic glaze. Lets just say I used the glaze for my cesar salad which was next! The greens in the salad were extremely bitter and I usually can handle somewhat bitter greens. The ceasar dressing was like water and barely clung to the greens. For an entry we had the macaroni and cheese with crab (I saw it on their online menu as a regular item but on their menu) it's mac and cheese with five different proteins you can add. The mac and cheese was... interesting and very disappointing. The sauce was watery and barely clung to the noodles and the crab was rather fishy and my boyfriend even found a shell on one piece. My boyfriend and I decided this was the last straw and decided to try our luck and cut our losses by taking our $28 entree home and adding something to it to make it edible. (We ended up adding some parmesan cheese, seasoning and tomato sauce). I would NOT recommend anyone going to Hugos. The service wasn't bad, but we were in and out too quick!

Cute setting but very bad bad service. Had to wait 20 min for a glass of wine, and the place was not busy. Then during coffee, asked for coconut milk for coffee and the person forgot. They have outside tables with supposedly fire pits. Most didn't work. Its just not worth the trouble to go there.

We recently visited Hugo's for a girl's luncheon. Service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and accommodating. We were treated to a complimentary appetizer of multi-grain crackers and sweet potato hummus. Others in our group were not fans, but thought they were very tasty and appreciated the unique take on traditional hummus. My entree consisted of the seafood burger with it's side of signature salad. I liked that the burger was served open faced, making it easier to eat and the salad was really tasty! We were too full to try dessert but will save that for another visit.

We have been there twice trying to give it a chance and we have mixed reviews. Both times they messed up our order, but they were nice. It is pricy, but charming, and when the deck is open its very nice. The crab cakes stink! No crab all bread and served with weird sauces and no lemons! The salads are really good though, and the pomegranate cheeses cake is really good too. They don't ever have a big lunch crowd, we went both times for lunch and were the only people there. It's hot in there too! We had the steak sandwich today, it was flank steak, I didn't like it but my husband did. The meat tasted tainted to me....but it was dressed good and the bread was good. They had little slices of I think pita in the salad and it was so hard I couldn't even chew it, the salad was delish tho. Our bill was $48 for crab cake appetizer, shared the sandwich, and shared cake, we drank water. So quite expensive!

Went here for Valentine's Day dinner. When I made the reservation, I was not told it would be a price fixed dinner at $70 a person!! We did end up staying, but I wasn't blown away. It was decent vegan/gluten free food. I was wanting to try other things on the menu though. There is a groupon going right now for dinner that is a good deal, so I'll go back and try again. The servers were all very nice and it has a cute, homey vibe.

We got this Groupon deal a while ago and decided to give it a try tonight. To be honest, we were hesitant after reading some negative reviews in yelp but I really didn't want to waste $$ so we decided to go there tonight. And I am so glad we did. We got there around 5pm. The restaurant just opened for dinner and we were the only guests. More customers came in towards to the end of our dinner. The lady who serviced us was really nice and attentive. Once we sat down, she brought flaxseed crackers which were quite tasty. The water they serve is ionized & hydrolyzed and tasted really clean. I am glad they served it without ice it was so cold outside. We shared a large Kale Salad. The dressing was kind of lemony which I really like and the portion is big enough for 2 people to share. I had chicken stroganoff and my husband had chicken marsala. Both of them were very tasty and the sauce was not too heavy. We really enjoyed it. The portions were big enough. I even couldn't finish my chicken stroganoff. I have to say that their food is not as heavy and rich like most Italian restaurants but the dishes are very flavorful and I felt satisfied afterwards. Btw, the raw coco cheesecake was amazing. It's not too sweet and caramel sauce is really to die for. It was a perfect ending for tonight's meal. I have to say the price was not too bad for the quality of ingredients. I definitely would go back again (even without Grupon) to try something else on their menu.

I had a Groupon to use so my friend and I thought we'd try Hugo's for lunch. We had a wonderful meal and great service. We both wanted seafood so we split the seafood burger and the salmon sandwich and each had a cup of soup. A nice wine list, too. Fresh, flavorful food and a nice experience. I will go again!

I had such high hopes for this place that it pains me to write this review. I absolutely love the fact that Hugo's is all sustainable and all organic. However, I can't help but notice that their "sustainable" marketing is more or less on the green washing side. In fact, it seems like Hugo's has an identity crisis and doesn't really know what niche they fall in.... Let's begin with the building. They reside in an old Victorian house. You would never guess that the restaurant inside is "all organic , all sustainable" . It would be more fit for a brunch place for grandmothers... Actually, we were the only guests there that were under the age of 50. Service: well service was slow. Factor in the slight detail of only three tables had customers in an empty restaurant makes the service here super slow. The two of us waited half an hour for our food. Did I mention that there were only two other tables dining? Food: portions are small and very pricey. I had the portobello mushroom entree which costs 18 dollars and all it contained were a couple slices of mushrooms, spinach, and zucchini.... Sure, organic is pricier, but the food lacked quality as well. Everything on my plate was doused in oil. I was still hungry and felt extremely sick afterwards from my veggie platter being so greasy. Ironic how inhaling my left over Chinese food from the night before made me feel twice as better as before I came into Hugo's. Great concept but poorly executed. I do hope they get their act together because we do need restaurants that serves healthy sustainable food.

Came here because of a groupon, Whitney B's review ( Whitney B is funny but an über bitch), and the fact that my partner has so many food allergies. To my surprise this place is GREAT! Our server was kind and accommodating. Our food came out fast, hot and delicious. I feel sad because Whitney must eat at McDonalds and other chain restaurants. She missed out on some great healthy and tasty food. And was too concerned with being a sassy cuntwad. The only thing I would change is plating. The interior is elegant and the food should match. Less parsley and more fine tuning on presentation. The notorious juicer was even run during our time here and its not that loud. Especially if you are focusing on conversation with your friends and not that the juicer is on. This will be a date spot for sure!

2.5 Stars I really wanted to like Hugo's... but what we got for what we paid was disappointing. We got the avocado caprese as an appetizer - for $14 you expect something decent, but it was tiny - not enough for the 2 of us to share. The salmon was also small and underwhelming preparation. There was nothing bad, but really nothing to justify the prices.

Giving a place 1 star really pains me. I really wanted to love this place, I really did. Despite all the bad/mediocre reviews on Yelp, I still wanted to try Hugo's and love it, mainly because their food is organic, they came across as being aware of food sensitivities and catered for gluten-free individuals. However, it was a BIG let down. Where to start? Service was super-slow on a Saturday, with the restaurant being about 3/4 full. The appetizers didn't interest us, so A ordered the kid's meal of chicken skewers, sweet potato fries and apple sauce ($10) for our appetizer. This is not normally allowed since Chef only serves these meals to under 12s, but in this case, he let us. We also ordered the seafood spaghetti ($25) with NO cheese and pork entrée with potatoes and vegetables ($20). Note the pork is NOT organic! After a loooooong wait, everything came to the table at once. I nearly died from seeing the kid's meal. It was soooo sparse! The chicken skewers were made from dry grilled chicken, cut into three thin strips and stuck onto skewers. They were not seasoned and cold. The sweet potato fries weren't fries, but roasted sweet potato wedges, that were lukewarm and soggy. The best part of this dish was the apple sauce. Sad, but true. $10? Seriously? How does a kid get full on this, even under 12? Seriously? The seafood spaghetti came out with cheese on it. Remember I asked for no cheese. I was then told what the cheese was. Like it makes a difference, goat, sheep, whatever, I asked for no cheese. You have no idea of my allergies or sensitivities, and when I ask for no cheese, I expect no cheese, not an explanation of what animal the milk comes from. It was remade, or they scraped off the cheese, who knows. Whilst I was waiting A dug into his pork dish. Pork, potatoes and vegetables. The slices of pork had no sear on them, but looked boiled. The sauce was really sour, not lemony sour either. The roasted potatoes were pathetic, about 3-4 one-inch cubes, and well, the vegetables, barely a spoonful. $20 seriously? When my spaghetti did return, it was lukewarm. Isn't hot food supposed to be held at around 140F? Anyhow, the dish was kind of sad. The sauce was sour again, didn't taste like white wine or lemon. The pasta was soggy and well, the seafood was a little odd. I had a variety of seafood, some scallops were so small I could barely see them. Worse still was that one scallop was so overcooked, it tasted like meat. $25? Seriously? The reasoning for removing 4 stars: super slow service (-1), kid's meal (-1), cheese on my dish (-1), general size, price and quality (-1). I am shocked at this place and how pretentious it is. It could be a great place, but the delivery is pathetic. The food is overpriced. I know people can argue it's organic, but I have been involved in the food industry for millions of years, I buy organic food, cook organic food and no way in hell, should they be charging the price they are for these dishes. Not only because of the portions, but because they do not taste like anything special, in fact, the dishes were worse than average. We agreed the best items we ate at dinner was the seeded crackers that were complementary and the apple sauce. The total was $60 (almost the same price as what I pay when I do my weekly organic grocery shop for two people), but thankfully we had a $50 Groupon.

This is a very small restaurant in a super charming old house, we drove by many times and wondered how it would be. We ended up with one of their groupons and decided to give it a try. Neither me nor my husband have any allergies, so we did that mainly to try something different and eat healthy. I guess the taste is bland, I am not sure if this is an issue with being gluten free/dairy free and all that, but we were a little disappointed. A friend of ours is lactose intolerant and her food always tastes really good? The crackers at the beginning really grew on me after having a couple of pieces, but the rest needs some seasoning. They do make fresh smoothies and drinks, those are awesome and they have a huge choice. Service was excellent and they really are super nice and friendly, but a little bit pricey for what you get.

My favorite place to eat! All gluten free, really great food. Brunch, lunch, dinner it's all fantastic. I love going during late in the summer and eating on the patio.

This is my favorite restaurant on the East side!! I went here for my birthday with my entire family. We sat on the lovely outside deck in the nice weather. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. My family is gluten/lactose free . My mom is low sodium, my grandma is allergic to corn. The staff were so friendly at accodemdating all of our needs and we didn't feel like it was such a big hassle! The staff allowed my family to bring presents in for me to celebrate my birthday and the food was so delicious. We ordered the pizza appetizer and it was delicious! We loved the crackers and hummus that come with our meal, it was very good! We all ordered something we loved including my son. He loves the red sauce spaghetti (and he is a pretty picky eater) but he ate it all! We were all so full and none of us had a stomach ache! Because all of the food was the type of food we were not allergic to or had intolerances with. My mom ordered some coffee with a french press which she loved the taste of the coffee although couldn't figure out the french press which we all laughed at but the server was very patient and gave her a tutorial. Then they gave me a free desert choice since it was my birthday . I chose the sherbert and it was very good. I would go back just to try all of the other deserts as well! I would highly recomend this restaurant to everyone who have intolerances with food and want to enjoy delicous food at a great restaurant atmosphere with very friendly service! I will be going here again soon and bringing more friends and family!

A good delectable Vegetarian selection. Juice bar makes for a great start. The vegan burger was very flavorful. Portions are extremely small and pricey. The Crispy kale salad that I took to go was lighter than air. I would recommend this place for those who appreciate a carefully prepared meal.

I've been here only once but won't go back. Service was slow, inattentive. Food was really bland and boring. My friends salad could've been made at home for cheaper and better. The brownie for dessert was actually so weird tasting we couldn't finish it. Prices are high for what you get. We even had a groupon and I wouldn't go back even with the discount.

Nooooooo. Not again...having memories of Grace's 5 oh, of course it's the same chef...I used my living Social tonight and took my daughters out for dinner. To expensive. Small portions. Kids hated their food. 2 tiny crab cakes for $14. Seriously? Crab Mac n cheese was kind of a joke when you compare the $25 price tag to other restaurants on the Eastside. No lump crab just stringy crab mixed in with the sauce. Lemon chicken was to salty and way to expensive at $20. I just bought a whole organic chicken from PCC and it was $16. The chicken was a Breast cut in 1/2 and pounded. Potato's were non existent (3) small and under cooked. Service...one server for the entire place. You can imagine the service. She was nice but not attentive enough. Good enough wine list. Mark Ryan is a nice choice as always. Dry soda is always a good choice. Will not go back.

Don't bother with appetizers or desserts, entrees were edible but not spectacular. Overpriced for what they serve.

So sad...had all the potential to be a great dining experience. Loved the locations, setting in old house. excited about a gluten free experience... Went the 1 month ago for a birthday dinner for 6 friends. We arrived and were seated and promptly ignored. We had to ask for wine glasses (brought our own wine). Started to uncork our own wine since no one was approaching us. Finally waitress approached and said "I'll take care of that"...literally sat there 30 mins from being seated before wine got poured. Food was bland, expensive, and unexciting. Again, had hoped for more. Will never go back unless they change management/ownership.

I stopped at Hugo's because from the outside it looked like a cute restaurant situated off the street with some cool looking outdoor seating. It is all of those things but the food and prices are unreasonable. 1) Food is over priced $12 dollars for a 2x2 inch "brownie" square topped with something they said was ice cream but tasted horrible and looked like frost flakes scrapped off from an ice maker. The brownie was tasteless and unpleasantly chewy like uncooked dough. $3 dollars for garlic bread, which was a single tiny slice of bread toasted and cut into three pieces with garlic flavored butter. $7 for a glass of juice that took two sips to finish 2)The parking situation is horrible. One way in, and one way out with 6-10 places max. I do not recommend eating at Hugo's. The place sucks.

We waited 20 minutes to order drinks, and another 20 to order food. Salads took 20 more minutes to come out, and mine was wrong. It took me about 10 minutes to flag down the only waitress, and when I told her that my salad was wrong, she didn't seem to care. She brought me a different salad because fixing mine would have taken too long or something. She then brought out everyone else's food except for mine, as I was still eating my salad. When I finished my salad, it took me 5 more minutes to flag her down and ask for my food. Meanwhile, we had ordered another bottle of wine, which she had completely forgotten about. We got there at 6:00, and didn't leave until 8:15!!! Did I mention that the restaurant was less thank HALF FULL??? I have never had such horrible service. The food was bland.

Came here for dinner with a friend and had a Groupon deal ($25 for $50 worth of food). I was excited to try a gluten free, vegetarian restaurant. Parking was tight, their parking lot will fit about 7-8 cars. We had the pear bruschetta as appetizer, Fried Polenta as Entree, and I believe a raw mango cheesecake for dessert. The pear bruschetta tastes amazing, it had a lot of flavor; I wished it was a bigger portion for being $14. Fried Polenta was just ok for me, and the mango cheesecake was just ok also. Nothing was wrong with the food-the vegetables were well seasoned, ect. The entree and dessert just didn't wow me. I felt like the food was too expensive for how it tasted. Appetizers starts around $10-14, entrees ranges $18-30. I don't think I would come here without a Groupon.

This place serves gluten-free, organic and mostly local grown food. We went in here for dinner the other day and there were a bunch of things wrong. The juicing machine was broken. The brownie with ice cream was really goofy with 2 thin layers of brownies. Overall, the food just tasted not-so-great. I left completely unsatisfied. But their service was very good and prompt. Organic, vegan, vegetarian can be good, and I'm living proof of that... but this place wasn't done right.

I'm sure most of the food here is good and I'm sure the cooks are skilled but here are my suggestions . 1. For the lunch entree I ordered the pasta with chicken. Please offer a side salad and maybe some bread to go with the entree. Also throw a little more chicken on there and stop being so stingy.. I don't need you counting my calories for me. 2. Refill my tea more often please and offer me sugar instead of honey. 3. Try to get more things on your menu, there really wasn't much to choose from on your lunch menu when I visited today. 4. Try offering people with small children a booster chair or something. 5. Offer some healthy sandwiches like turkey with sprouts and avocado , Maybe I want to come there and spend only 8 bucks on a good sandwich instead of being forced to spend 18 dollars on a small portion of pasta. That's all . The food I ate tasted fine , it just wasn't enough and the options were slim.

Worst restaurant I have ever been to! I am trying to eat organic and really hoped this restaurant would be a great option for our community. I gave a try a few times. Nope. Once I had over salted soup - I could not eat it at all! Considering that I like salty food, I can only imagine what it would do for someone who does not like salt that much. I had hair in my dishes, and once they served me food with food labels in the dish. You could actually read where that piece of food in your salad came from! They did not charge me that time as an apology for what happened but it does not make me feel more comfortable with their dishes. The only thing I liked was their juices but I will not have them any longer as I am not sure what it can contain: hair, labels or something worse...

This place could have been better for sure. We had a large party and the waitress was obviously overwhelmed (she was serving the entire place) so I won't rate too much on the service. However, the food was underwhelming and I expected a lot better for my money. I got the chicken and mushroom spaghetti and it was tasty but for $20 I could have gotten the same at Olive Garden for much less. It's nice that it's gluten-free but honestly in Seattle I feel that it's not that hard to find a lot of gluten-free stuff if you ask and they won't make you pay an arm and a leg for it. At the end, the waitress asked me if I wanted a box and I said yes (I only ate half my plate) - and ... I never saw the rest of my food again. I suppose she might have misheard me but maybe it was probably for the best - my husband ended up with not feeling well at all that night and he got the bolognese. Overall, I wouldn't come back - lots of other great restaurants in the area for less.

Had lunch here a couple of weeks ago with two friends. I love the concept, the service was friendly, and the food was good. I ordered a salad with steak slices, and again it was good. The meat was a little tough, but the dressing was tasty. My friends had similar feelings about their meals. I look forward to going back when it's warmer and we can sit out on the deck.

I'm glad there's a restaurant focused on healthy, organic food but surely at these prices the food should taste better. Stick with the salads - the kale salad and farmer's salad were delicious and well-seasoned. However, the salmon was overcooked. The pesto pasta was completely under-seasoned and a little mushy. And the tenderloin bites are way overpriced for a few bites of cut up beef. The dessert was actually quite good - the pomegranate "cheesecake" (made with pomegranate, beet juice, agave, coconut oil and cashews) was smooth and bright. I think they're still working through some kinks (they sent us the wrong entrees at first) but our server was very nice and the order was corrected quickly. Parking is extremely tight (park in the Chase lot next door).

This place is very nice on the inside and did a great job of accommodating our VERY large party. That said, the food is just meh. The Kale salad with chicken was ok but the baked kale was so spicy you lost all flavor of the kale and the chicken was so bland it may as well not have been there at all. The rest of the food on the table looked ok, not awesome, but ok. It's worth going if you have a food allergy. If you don't, then stick with the Stone House.

We came here on a Groupon and had a good time. Would we come back? No. The food was actually pretty good. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer and then my wife had the pork and I had the special which was halibut. The problem is the price. $15-$20 for appetizers and $25-$35 for entrees is just too expensive for the size and quality. Had we not had the Groupon we would not have come.

It was fun to be at a restaurant where they serve food I can eat! Being gluten and dairy free is tough when eating out, and I had lots of choices! I had chicken fettuccine Alfredo (gluten and dairy free) which was quite tasty. My salad was fresh and flavorful. My husband had the portebella and steak "sandwich" and he enjoyed it. Food was fresh and high quality organic, flavors could be more complex.

Ambience: beautiful inside but cold. Tables and chairs are very comfortable and very neat. Music level is not too loud, not to quiet. There was a draft on my arm and it took all of a few seconds to figure out their AC was running. It's November! Noise level: very loud equipment. Any time they use the juicer it downs out the music and destroys the ambience. Service: second rate. We were practically ignored during the entire thing. Our tea was forgotten and water glasses left empty for long periods of time. Our food took an excessive amount of time to come out. Although our waitress was very sweet, service was pretty crappy. Juice: warm. Too much ginger in the Bright Eyes, too much celery in my girlfriend's Awake. Simply placing the glasses in a refrigerator would have chilled them enough to be more enjoyable. They're worth about $4, but they charge $7 each. Food: meh... The pancakes were greasy and fall apart and turn into mush. There is way too much butter on these and the syrup is not that great. The potatoes that go with our omelette were straight up cold and also greasy. The omelette was okay, also cold but actually had some flavor though poorly portioned throughout the omelette. Some bites would be tasty while others were flavorless.. Portions were too small and left a lot to be desired. I was really excited to try the food since this place at first looked like it would be delicious. But unfortunately it was extremely underwhelming and I am very sad to write this review.

I have been here several times since they opened and each time I have left disappointed and spending way too much for what is served. The menu is so weird and understand it's gluten free but taste and enjoyment of eating is NOT the experience of this restaurant. The zucchinni noodle dish is like eating something you would feed a cow. It was just plain awful and couldn't eat it. I told the waitress and she took it away and didn't offer me a replacement. I was charged for it! Not a very good rating for customer service. My bill was over $20 and so not worth it! The owners need to understand at this price it needs to be delicious and a feeling of wanting to come back and bring your friends. I have been here several times since they opened hoping it would get better but it just hasn't improved. Not sure who their clientele is but I won't be coming back unless I see a new restaurant moving in. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Best organic, gluten free, soy free food I've found in the Redmond area! Very elegant setting in an old house. Superb food! It was a little chilly inside, but had a very fun and unique feel. Portion sizes are a bit small, but very very delicious. I highly recommend trying it out. Price is a bit high, but very reasonable for organic, gluten free, soy free. If you've tried to grocery shop and cook this way, you'd completely understand and see the value... My wife and I will definitely make this a regular favorite.

Went here for lunch with a Groupon. We were the only people there (Thursday at noon). The service was attentive without being overbearing. The food was fresh and flavorful but pricey. I had a Portobello/Bell Pepper Sandwich with Zucchini Soup and my companion had a Steak Sandwich with Caesar Salad. The food was hot, which is good, but the water was warm, which is bad. We ordered an iced tea to have something cool to drink. Tasty food overcame the price and warm water - 4 stars.

Today I picked up lunch from Hugo's. I had eaten dinner here a year ago. I remember the waitress being awesome but the veggie pasta I had was bland/simple for the $20 I shelled out. I have been wanting to give this place a second chance because I love that it is all organic and healthy. My order: Peppered Salmon Filet Sandwich & Crispy Kale salad as the side The sandwich: Why are their sandwiches open-faced? You pay $12-$15 to try and eat an unfinished sandwich with a fork and knife. I don't understand. On the plus side, the salmon tasted fresh and I could tell it was good quality. It was a sizeable piece, no skimping there! Too bad it was a bit bland and underseasoned even though it has "peppered" in the name. The aoli and pesto however were out of this world! They almost made up for everything. Like the onions. So. Many. ONIONS. The lettuce was in tiny pieces, and there were two random blackberries in the box. Ok......I can kind of look past that But oh lord, the kale salad. I am no food critic by any means, but wtf was this salad. It was about three stem's worth of kale, half of it was brown and dry like it sat in the oven for too long. Some pieces were packed with flavor, others tasted like dry leaves. There were no breadcrumbs or cheese as mentioned in the online menu. It wasn't a salad at all. It was like eating rejected kale chips. I want to love Hugo's. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but I can barely stand to give it 3. Maybe the overhead is too high for them to charge any less...there needs to be more flavor and attention to detail to go with the pricetag.

The organic selection is a plus as we only eat organic at home. However, this restaurant is overpriced considering the poor service level, lack of presentation, and little things such as you get only a knife and fork, no spoon, and only one set unless requested. I do not like to set my used silverware on a table when the first course is cleared and awaiting a second course. The entree plate looks like a meal at an "all you can eat" buffet. Very unappetizing! I would much rather eat for the same price point, or less, at the Georgian, Taste, St Clouds, the Pink Door, Tabla bistro (Portland), the Depot (Long Beach), or Circo (NYC/ Las Vegas) and get fantastic food, service and presentation.

Came here for a friend's brunch, not crowded in the slightest. -- Food: Not impressed at all. Got Vegan French Toast which was just regular plain white wonderbread looking bread and some were burnt on the bottom (and top). Got maybe 4 little chunks of potato and the fruit was literally 1 strawberry and a thin slice of pineapple. +0 Ambiance: Clean, bright, airy. Tables are a bit fancy for the food they serve in the morning. Have some space outdoors as well. +1/2 Service: Service was very very slow even though there weren't many people there. The server was pretty kind, but acted like splitting checks was rocket science, I always hate it when that happens! +1/2 Convenience/Price: Parking lot is ridiculous. They have the logical route out blocked off with chains so you are forced to back up and scoot down this narrow driveway that you came in on. I have no idea why they do this. Price is WAY TOO MUCH! Quality and portions just don't match up. Other Factors of Awesomeness: Nope. +0 --- Really underwhelmed.
