Great pizza and atmosphere.. Have also used this location for multiple creative means, like video production scenes that need to take place in a "diner setting", and the employees are always welcoming and allow us to use a table or two. In exchange, I always buy several pizzas, and a few root beers.. Absolutely no problems with this place, and the 'thinness' of the pizza compared to a lot of other pizza shops is great, it makes their pizza taste their own. Not overly greasy, and not too thin, the pizza has a great taste and when the train goes by it really puts the place's namesake to good use. Overall a wonderful pizza place. When I think of pizza in Puyallup, this is definitely the first place that comes to mind, as it's in such a sweet-spot of downtown and the Puyallup that I know and love. Great vibes going on, good prices, and good pizza. Would recommend it to people who haven't tried it, or for out-of-towners looking for a slice.

I just visited the trackside in sumner for lunch with my 4 year old daughter. Let me start off by saying THE ONLY OPTION FOR KIDS AT THIS PLACE IS $10. For 10 bucks they bring your kid a little crust with a bowl of sauce, some cheese and pepperoni. Your kid gets to make a mess, then they cook it for you. She thought this was fun but it cost more than my lunch and I was disappointed that this was your only option for kids. I had the all you can eat lunch. I like to try all you can eat pizza lunches for some variety. This lunch has no variety. They only serve 1. pepperoni, 2. Three meat ( pepperoni and ham, not sure what the third was. Might have been bacon crumbs. ) 3. Ham and pineapple with ranch instead of tomato sauce ( weird ) and 4. Vegetarian. When I asked the waitress if this ever changes, she said no. It's always the same 4 pies. This pizza is very boring and most of the menu looks really over priced. The service was pretty slow and half way through the meal I had to ask for napkins and silverware. The entire staff looked really young and under trained. Probably poor management. I've never been to the one in Puyallup, but I'm not sure why there would be 2 of these over priced restaurants. If you have money to waste this might be okay pizza for take out. Definitely not a place you wanna bring the family for lunch.

Sumner Location.. I guess you are required to write at least 35 words To get posted here.. Ok so after the "Grand opening" And going to "Track Side" Sumner...,Very expensive A total Joke.. Not sure why they would open another Location? Waited over 30 mins for just an ok Pizza Very young staff., seems like lacking in training .. The salad was good though.. Good luck

-The seat your self is helpful. -Never received an apology for the low quality service provided. (I'm forgiving she could have gave an excuse for the lack of service) -I feel it may be poor management on why all the complaints were on wait time and -staff

My favorite pizza around. Thin crispy crust and just delicious baked in their pizza ovens. we are having the B & O large pizza tonight, yum. Their salads are also excellent. They have specials on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesdays and weekdays there is an all you can eat slice bar with a spa for only $8.99 which is an awesome deal staying from 11 till 2 pm.

It was so hot in there, unreal, i dont know if the AC wasnt working, but a few people walk in, sat down and couldnt handle the heat and left. We stuck around since we already had placed our order. The pizza was really good, the cheesse was delish, the ambiance (besides the heat)was great, TV was on, backround music was The Doors and that kind of music, yaay, it did took a while for us to get the medium pizza we ordered, but i mean its not a fast food place so no rush. Great place for kids, when the train passes by it shakes the whole place (lightly) and the kids just love it. Will come back.

Driven by this place a thousand times and my family and I finally decided to try it out. We wanted to keep it simple: 16" Pepperoni Pizza, Baked Lasagna, Fettuccine Alfredo, and a house salad. Everything was delicious. The service was great, the food was even better. That homemade blue cheese dressing is the best! Can't wait to go back! :)

This place has the best pizza in town. Best deal is for lunch! :)

It's a fun atmosphere for a group of friends. The pizza was tasty, but there definitely was quite a wait until our yunmies arrived.

Love it! The kids are happy so that makes me happy. The boys love trains and its got a great window table looking right at the tracks where trains pass through regularly. The staff is really friendly and always walk the boys up to the counter where they hand deliver the pizza that they put together at the table. They have a great all you can eat lunch special and different deals on different nights of the week. There is street parking that can he tricky to get a spot at different times of the day. The lot can be accessed on an off road which makes it difficult if your not from around here. Overall, its a top notch spot for pizza in Puyallup.

In terms of pizza in WA this place is ok. Don't really know where else you would go within a 20 minute drive of here. Nothing special but the pizza is better than most in the area. Most people will be happy coming. People that really know pizza won't.

Very slow waited forever for pizza and salad the salad was a joke and the pizza wasn't worth the wait in our opinion

Trackside pizza in Sumner was so so. The service was very good but the pizza was not the best. Crust was done but lacking sauce and the topping were not done. Will try again but we will see

Pizza was pretty quick and good. They had an emphasis of simple, but fresh ingredients. The only reason this is 4 stars is due to the price. Very expensive for what it is, and for the price is rather get a pizza from an Italian restaurant.

  • Rich C.

I had the best "mommy, daddy, daughter" dinner here. They have this really cool thing where your kid can make their own pizza at the table and then carry it up to the kitchen. Then they shout "pie up!" Which was a totally awesome experience. I enjoyed a half-cab salad which was HUGE and covered in bacon so naturally it was divine. The sauce is a little on the spicy side with red pepper flakes and the dough is soft and fluffy. I'm looking forward to trying their family night.

Excellent service and food. The pizza is almost as good as east coast pizza. The only qualm that my wife and I have is that it's a bit expensive. We will be back for many more pizzas.

Totally love this place there pizza is always perfect and they always have a good ambience with the music playing and the trains flying by in the back ground. This place runs a lunch special slice bar and soda for 8.99 or slice bar and Salad for 7.99 #Trackside

Good enough pizza. Better than most, especially on the west coast. Better than the chains.

Let me start by saying the pizza here is so amazing. One of the best pizza I ever had. We ordered The Grand Trunk Express. It was loaded with a lot of meats and veggies. I love how the veggies wasnt over cooked.Definitely worth the $30. Can't wait to try the other pizza.

Food is always good but it takes FOREVER to get your pizza. Every time I think it will be different and it never is. order breadsticks and salad because I can't stress enough how it will be FOREVER before you get your meal.

This review is for their new SUMNER location. After a long awaited and much anticipated but delayed opening, we visited Trackside Pzza in Sumner on Sunday, August 16th. Apparently it had been open for less than a week and it was most apparent the staff was new, not knowledgeable and without any visible management present. The restaurant is nice looking however when our party of 4 entered we were told that we would have to wait as they were staggering the seating! There were many open seats and several other parties not as patient as ourselves left in disgust. Once seated our waitperson was very nice, very young and totally unfamiliar with the menu. She was also still a minor and could not bring us our beer, forgot we ordered it and had to remind her on several occasions. We could understand the poor service as the staff was very young, inexperienced but there was no excuse for the lack of having a manager present. And the pizza? It was mediocre at best as were the breadsticks. The pizza was not thoroughly baked, the breadsticks were flavorless and the presentation horrible. On a good note we brought the remaining pizza home and it was far better served cold the following day. I feel badly in panning this new restaurant as we have thoroughly enjoyed the Puyallup location in the past but this one is a disaster. Would we go back? Absolutely not as there are far better places to spend $100 than this one!

Good pizza, questionable service, no military discount....not an overall fail, just suspect service and price. Beer selection kinda lacking...overall 3 stars is correct....just meh....

food was 4 stars service was 0 stars, customers were having to get up to find a waitress for refills get your pie to go!!!!!

The pizza's not bad, not great, but the service every time I have been here has been simply awful. I have gone in once for lunch with a friend, once for dinner with my family, and a few times for larger family gatherings. Every time service is abysmally slow, even if the restaurant is not busy. They will literally stand at the hostess station chatting, looking right at your table, and you still have to walk over to them to get a drink refilled or the check. Ridiculous.

  • Lisa M.

This place is great! I live about 25 miles away so I had never even heard of this place, but I will definitely be back!!! The place is clean inside and out. The smell that hits you when you walk in is phenomenal. The service was great, very friendly and fast. The food was amazing (the marinara is to die for)! And to top it all off, it's very reasonably priced! My husband and I ate here for under $23. I will definitely be telling all my friends about this place and they can expect me back very soon!!!!

The "grand trunk" rules. Good atmosphere- specially for kids who love trains. Great service/nice staff Could be a little on the pricier side for pizza but so worth it. If you sit next to the brick wall in the winter, it can't be a little chilly.

I just want to start this review off by saying I have eaten here in the past and have had good service and the food is always wonderful but last night was the worst service I have ever had in the history of restaurants I brought my ball team in to have a get together and First off was told that I would wait over an hour or we could be seated in separate booths that's fine we took the separate booth but then within 20 minutes noticed that the table that was very large for a large group was empty and asked if we could move they allowed it. Our order was taken and then it took 45 minutes to get our food to us after we ordered. on completion of eating our meal it took over an hour for us to get a bill which we never did receive after numerous requests the final straw is when I approached the girl with our bill to ask one more time and the manager turned on me and was extremely rude to the point she even turned her back to me and ignored me all together. when I asked for another manager she told me she didn't care if I called it was her final day anyways the place seemed to be ran by very very very young people on this evening . our server was a trainee which is fine but don't give her to a manager who obviously does not care about the restaurant or its patrons after the manager berated Me we waited an additional 10 minutes so now it has been an hour and 10 minutes and we still have not received a bill we finally tallied up the money ourselves and placed it on the table and left. The Cook's following us outside taking pictures of our license plates even though they knew we had left all the money on the table I have never been so humiliated or angry in my entire life we arrived at trackside pizza at 630 in the evening and did not leave until 9:15 I will never use the restaurant for a team meeting again and it's highly unlikely I will never eat there again

Heard a lot of great things about this place so we decided to try it out tonight . What a mistake. The pizza tasted like cardboard. The cheese wasn't stringy. Then crust was like wood. The service was slow too . Over 20 min to get out family salad. The chicken Alfredo was so dry. No sauce . Will not be going back .

  • Jeff P.

I'd give more stars based on the food and friendly service but I'm kind of miffed. If you dine with a large group, the gratuity is automatically added to to your bill. Not at all uncommon. What was strange to me was the gratuity on a $33 bill came out to $8.50 on our receipt. I politely asked what percentage the automatic gratuity was and was assured it was 18% (again, very standard). However $8.50 on a $33 bill is almost 26%! Our server checked and then returned to explain the gratuity was calculated on the regular cost of the pizzas we ordered ($21.95/each) instead of the $30 special we ordered. Not going to cry over $2.50 but this business practice seems...questionable. Don't think we'll be coming back.

Pizza is unbelievably delicious. The service is a bit slow. You would think that since they get higher traffic certain days, theyd be better staffed up. We ended up having to get up and get our own refills. And no one ever came to check if we needed anything else. By the time the bill came we were just ready to leave. Id seriously go back for the pizza but ready to not get the best customer service.

Our favorite Pizza place! Friendly staff, delicious food, and nostalgic decor. Very family friendly. This is pizza that almost feels healthy because all the toppings are fresh and sit on top like a traditional Italian pie! Not your greasy fast- food pizza . Also many non-pizza food options to choose from.

This is definitely a family favorite. Great food and quality, but a little pricey for pizza. Totally worth it though.

The terrible service makes this place not even worth it. Rude seating hostesses and waitresses. After two tries with this place im not going back.

We have passed by this place several times a week for years and always went "We need to try it". Finally, a few weeks back, we did. This is, in my opinion, the best pizza I've had in Pierce county. The crust is perfect, not too thin but not heavy and doughy. Toppings are plentiful and they offer good options for their specialties. The atmosphere reminds me of some of the older places that I went to as a kid; lots of character. The staff was friendly and helpful. Altogether, I would highly recommend Trackside. It's not the cheapest pizza in town, but in my opinion, it's the best!

    (4)
  • Mark S.

The only reason its not 5 stars is because last night it took 1.5 hrs to get our food delivered but the quality impressed the guests we had

I went there for the lunch buffet which is usually a great experience!! However today was one of the worst dining experiences of my life.. I sat for almost 10 minutes before I was acknowledged. They had no pizza ready so they asked which I wanted and then 25 minutes passed and I wasn't even served a single slice!!! Wasted my whole lunch staring at the wall!! They have lost a customer for life.. Worst service ever!!!

    (1)
  • Stuart S.

Horrible service and wait times! Food is good but not good enough to wait 30 minutes for a pizza when there were only 3 out of the 25 seats were taken.

    (1)
  • Liz O.

We went here so that my daughter could experience making her own pizza. It was a cool experience for her, but I have to say it wasn't worth coming back again. I make my own pizza at home because I honestly was not impressed with the pie for the price.

    (3)
  • Andrew A.

Had the lunch buffet with the wife. Total cost just under $20.00. Pizza was slightly above average. Strange Buffett though they serve you and had to wait for pizza because they would run out even though they only had three types. Service was good but was hungry and didn't like having to wait for pizza to be ready. Disappointed. Went here because of yelp reviews but was under impressed.

    (3)
  • Jessica C.

The food is oaky but it's super fun to eat there as a train goes by. SO LOUD! Your cup shakes and rattles. Neat experience.

As usual, I'm torn whether to give this a 3-star or 4-star. I wasn't impressed, but it wasn't bad. My boyfriend and I heard about Trackside Pizza when we moved here from Michigan in January - Everybody said it was the best pizza ever. I have since been told that we are spoiled because we indulged in REAL Chicago pizza and that it's the best pizza in THIS area. :) The main reason I'm giving them 4-stars is because it was good for pizza but I think we're going to stick with our preferred pizza place in the area. We got there right around dinner time on a Saturday. The wait was about 20 minutes but we only ended up having to wait about 10 minutes. The waitress was very nice and made the experience pretty enjoyable (yet another reason for the 4-star). Unfortunately, I don't remember her name. I did notice several employees wearing Crockett's shirts - Turns out they are owned by the same people. We've also been recommended to Crockets and are saving a gift certificate I got for my birthday for there. Anyway...Moving on. I was very surprised by their lack of drinks. I assumed from the look of the place and from the recommendations I had gotten that they'd have a full bar with some drink specials - Only beer and wine were available. That was one of the first things I like about the other place better - A variety of great , strong drinks, for cheap. We decided to get their Rosemary Bread - I was a bit nervous about this because I dislike rosemary. The waitress said that she'd see what she could about not having it "as strong". It ended up being pretty good - Not great, but good. For the pizza, we got the "Grand Trunk Express". On my half, I had mostly meat, and on my boyfriends half he had meat with most of the veggies. It was good pizza, don't get me wrong, but it was nothing to write home about. I have a feeling my coworkers are right and that I'm just spoiled by good pizza from the area I'm from, which again, is why I'm giving them 4-stars (although I wouldn't say, "Yay! I'm a fan" as Yelp says is what makes a 4-star). The part we had the most issue with: I understand that this is going to happen at ALL restaurants, but if you're going to have your kitchen in view of the customers, you're more likely for things like this to get noticed: I don't know if the food practices are different here than in Michigan but I was EXTREMELY surprised to find only ONE person wearing gloves on the line. Not only was no one wearing gloves but the one guy that was wearing gloves was touching tickets and then touching pizzas without switching gloves. NO one was wearing a hairnet or hat (the one guy with long hair did have it pulled back) and then a gentleman with long(er) hair a FULL beard was on the line making pizzas. We didn't find any hair in our pizza but I was just really surprised and disappointed at the food safety standards. When it comes down to it, I don't think we'll be back. We are still really looking forward to Crockett's.

Pizza was great but they don't have fresh brewed ice tea. Makes you wonder where else they cut corners when it comes to quality.

  • Elizabeth C.

Had an idea to go when the kids were done with their conferences (both did very well) and try their lunch Buffet. I didnt know it was a *sit and they will serve you as many slices as you can handle kind of buffet not the *choose what you want while walking around kind. Besides that the waiter did take awhile to refill my drink but the food was great! The closeness of the rushing train passing by was a fun scene to watch as my kids eyes popped up and watched the walls shake! We will try to come by on family nights! Good food & fun scenes!

Seeing a pizza maker with a long beard and no kind of hairnet made me leary. The hard wooden seats in the booths are very uncomfortable.

Fast delviery, excellent pizza, perfect crust, bubbling and chippy on the edges, superior ingredients and falvorfulbuit not overpworing sauce. sensible pizza with an artisnal touch.

  • Daniel S.

This pizza is amazing! I understand that some could quibble with the prices, and they are a bit higher than delivery or store-bought pizza. However, I prefer to pay for quality and I think that the quality of pizza at Trackside is higher than delivery or store-bought and is equivalent to the dollar cost. Add in the welcoming and friendly staff, and the creative decorations adorning the walls, and I think there's a deal here.

Truly the best pizza in Washington. My wife is a pizza fanatic and travel all over for great pizza. Her being from New York and knows great pizza, loves this place. Now when we want pizza, this is the only place we go to. The salads are also great!!!

Bumpy's was packed and so was Twisted Kilt. Trackside Pizza was open and it didn't look busy. The building rumbled and shook whenever a train passed by which is why the name is so fitting. My friend and I ordered the Italian breaded wings. It was overcooked. Crunchy hard with a burnt flavor. Service was sketchy. My friend asked me for my glass of water because we didn't see a server pass through for a while to refill our glasses. The bigger family tables are the money makers so I'm sure that's where the server's attention went. It is a family oriented restaurant so I can understand. The pizza was good but pretty expensive. I might do take out the next time I think of this place but then again I might not.

My sister, my son, and I came here on a whim, hungry for lunch. I'm so glad we stopped in. My sister is a vegetarian, so we ordered The Ol' 97 which is "Olive oil, mozzarella, mushroom, roasted garlic, chevre, kalamata olive, topped with tomato and basil after baking". So. Friggin. Good. Definitely hit the spot and also made for good leftovers the next day. The waitress was very nice and offered to take the stroller and park it a few tables away so that it didn't take up so much room in the aisle. I suggest if you don't want your little one watching the television that you find a table or angle your kid where watching it will be difficult for them. Other than the TV issue, it's family friendly, and they have good lunch and happy hour specials. I hope to go back soon!

I really enjoyed my first experienced here. We attended a birthday party in the private banquet room that seats a large group. The food is affordable and taste fairly good. I recommend this establishment for families and casual gatherings. We ordered a number of pizzas and a variety of salads and everything we ordered tasted fresh and delicious.

I love love this pizza place!!!! I love the location and the ambience of the place. The service is GREAT. I wish I could say the same for other places who higher younger people. My only drawback is the price. We only visit about once every other month. I have never had a bad pizza come from this place.

  • Joe A.

I love Trackside! It's a great place to bring the kids! Every time a train roars by, you can feel the whole restaurant shake which is really cool. Service is great, usual. The decor is actually pretty nice being all train themed. Now, onto food. Though the pizza can be a little soggy some times, it is good pizza. Make sure you check out the breadstick too! Those are legit! And the kids will love making their own pan pizza and yelling "Pie up!" to the chef as they put it into the oven. They also have big, private party rooms which is great if you're going with a kids' sports team like we were. Location is quaint and perfect, right in the heart of cute, little, downtown Puyallup. All in all, I would totally recommend Trackside Pizza. And honestly, you really can't beat the atmosphere - the tracks are only a couple feet away!

  • Jeff H.

I really can't speak to anything other than the lunch buffet, and it's a great value. A little over $7 after tax for all the pizza and salad you'd like. When you stop by, be sure to try the Hawaiian pizza (has a very good white sauce.) Also recommended is their triple meat with pepperoni, Canadian bacon and bacon bits. Only real knock is the pizza is a bit on the greasy side, but nothing a few quick dabs of your napkin can't remedy.

  • Shauna P.

Amazing pizza! Kids love making their own "pie up" yummy place to meet up for dinner. We are a fan of jumping on the sounder to come here. Love the windows to watch them make everything from scratch and to see the trains go by. Service is always outstanding with dough for kid to play with. Drink refilled promptly. Monday and Tuesday 2 for 28 special is a great deal. Love the sandwich pesto grinder.

  • Lisa S.

I LOVE the Athenian pizza my only reason for not giving this place 5 stars is the price.... For the office I work in we ordered 2 large pizzas and a large salad... how much did it end up costing??? 98$!!!!!!! They were specialty pizzas and specialty salad but still 98$?? My office sometimes goes to Mama Stortini's(a nice italian restaurant close by) and everyone orders what they want and we get an appetizer and that was cheaper. Way to expensive in my opinion.

When you eat here you get to pay for the mistakes they make when taking your order! I ordered 2 pizzas , 1 16" and 1 12" online, to go. About 20 minutes after I ordered, a young lady called me and asked me to be sure I brought a little more money because my order was a little more than was listed on my online checkout. I asked her is it more to pay cash, she laughed and said no, she just wanted to let me know so I had enough money. I figured their web page didn't have the current prices, and wasn't too concerned about a couple dollars. When my son came home with 2 16" pizzas, I knew why I had to pay more. My receipt is for 2 16" pizzas but my online order is for 1 12" and 1 16" inch. Amazing to me that to recoup a couple dollars in sales, they just lost a customer who was willing to pay $50 for 2 pizzas!!! The pizza is pretty good, we always ordered take out because it is always so loud inside and the wait is way past reasonable. So, add lack of integrity and poor customer service to the list and I'm done. No need to return.

Amazing pizza! Been here a few times, but this place is a staple for a lot of locals. I don't know why we don't go there more often, it's quite tasty. And, it's fun to be there when the trains go by. :) I have a son now, and I can't wait for the days where he is obsessing over trains... this will definitely be a dinner spot for us. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it for a specialty pizza. This ain't no Dominos.

Kassandra, our server was fantastic! She was very attentive to our needs and friendly. She definitely needs a raise!! Out of the 4 girls there, she seemed to be the only one putting in work while others just hovered near the station kiosk, were on there cellphones or just chatting. Also, these other girls didn't really acknowledge or thank people as they came in and left. I think some tweaking needs to be done about their lack of customer service, as it makes the difference from being a "5" star place. The food however was fantastic, pizza and salad were yummy and tasteful. Definitely a must try for pizza!

We were originally going to go to our favorite restaurant, Crockett's Public house across the parking lot but the wait was too long and we were hungry. I saw that Trackside was also rated pretty well, so we hopped on over there. The pizza is pretty good but NOT at all worth the prices they charge. The named pizzas are : a 12 inch (on pretty much a flatbread style crust) is $19.95. A 16 inch is 23.95. The rosemary bread sticks are not worth what we paid ($7.00 for an 8 inch flatbread style crust with a bit of melted cheese, and rosemary on top with marinara and ranch on the side). We ended up getting 2 12 inches and the bread sticks and our bill came out to 51.95 without tip. I have no problem paying a bit more than usual if the food is AMAZING and the atmosphere/service is great but this was not the case on my visit. On top of the place being over priced, the wait staff is substandard. We were not offered a refill on our drinks the entire time we were there. Also, after we were finally able to flag down our waitress, it took 10 minutes from the time we asked for our check until we were able to actually leave. My family and I will definitely not be returning. Also If you are a parent thinking of taking your kid there so they can watch the trains while they eat, forget it. You can't even really see them, you just hear them and feel the building shake when they pass.

I sorta miss Puyallup because of this joint. I really enjoy their rosemary garlic bread with some ranch sauce. Can you say 'yum'? 'Cause I just did! I don't think I've ever ordered a pizza straight off their menu; instead I've always built my own awesome creation. I find their veggies and fruits to be fresh and tasty (jalepenos and pineapples mostly) and their meats are usually pretty yum. I hate pizza with bland meat. Bacon makes everything wonderful in life but if your bacon makes my taste buds cry then you're doing something horribly wrong. Trackside does it right! Their beer selection has been good enough to keep me happy in the past. The service here tends to be a little slow but it's not horrible by any means so I'm able to forgive them because their food makes my face happy. I'll actually be in the area tonight and think I might need some Trackside Pizza in my life. I'm a fan!

Super service. Our family and friends party of 9 stopped in for lunch today after a cool day at the pumpkin patch. I had a medical condition called a swollen upper lip, unable to hog down pizza today, Server Ashley offered to run over to Crockets to pick up a bowl of soup for me. Ashley, I have a personality to not put anyone out, your poise rocked!,, un intrusive, chill, and little drama. Thank you for supporting a local business and feeding a hungry mama. Love your place even more

Quality is going down hill fast. Recent orders over past three weeks included, extra cheese pizza with no cheese on three slices, forgot croutons on salad, burned bottom on one pizza, Black Forest ham instead of Canadian bacon on pizza. Yikes, we are really bummed, we have given them a lot of business since they opened, but now we just can't justify giving them our business. Hope they bring it back to better standards soon.

The Salad was delicious. The house vinaigrette was so good and the mozzarella cheese top was so soft and fresh. Id go back for the salad alone. The pizza was very good. We had a large half bacon and sausage and half cheese. There was a LOT of meat on the boys meat half of the pizza. All of it was recognizable as bacon and sausage. No itty bitty pieces of meat. The cheese tasted fresh and the crust was the right thickness to hold everything up. We were a little surprised at the pizza prices, seemed a little pricey but we did not get to see the grand total as a very nice man sitting across from us paid for our meal and slipped out before we could thank him. THANK YOU VERY KIND STRANGER!!!! I wish you would have let us thank you for what YOU do to make our country better. The waitstaff worked very well together, There was always someone at our table asking if we needed refills or napkins etc... We will definitely be back.

Great pizza, sometimes the service isn't always fast, but usually friendly. Have been here many times. Though it is a little higher priced than other local pizza places.

My family and I really like the food here, service is almost always slow. We felt like staying in recently and ordered for delivery. After waiting the average 45 minutes, we received a phone call letting us know that our delivery wouldnt be made for another hour and a half. Frustrating yes, so we opted to go and pick up. I stood there waiting for another 20 minutes for the food to be ready. All in all, the pizza is good, the service is slow but polite but definetly will never ever get delivery again and will think twice about going here to eat again.

I never miss an opportunity to thank someone for introducing me to something great. Today, I need to thank my 20 month old. Yes, if it wasn't for his total and utter obsession with trains, we never would have tried this place. You see, the joint is literally steps away from a busy set of tracks and even has window tables where you can watch the trains zoom by; which is exactly what we did. The expression of my son's face the first time he realized that not only were mom and dad feeding him pizza, but that he had a window seat to watch massive trains blow by, was priceless. The service was friendly, the pizza was tasty and the vibe was right. All the stars aligned to make this a perfect evening. And, seeing my kid's happy face, I mean, I could have been eating cardboard and would have enjoyed it. This place is far from cardboard though... We tried one of their specialty pizzas that had spicey Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, red peppers, green peppers and maybe a few other toppings. It was very tasty. The pizzas tend to be a little pricey, but it is certainly a quality product. And, if you have a train-crazed kid, like us, it is the express to a happy babe and a full belly; a winning combination.

This rating is based more on value than quality of food. As for the latter, Trackside has better pizza overall than the more common chains, and I can't say it warrants the wood fire pizza places in the area. What Trackside gives you for the price is simply not worth it. The profit margins this place has must be crazy good, especially for their desserts. Do NOT order ice cream or cookies - it is absurd what they feel they can charge for things you could easily get for yourself for a slim fraction of the cost. I have only myself to blame for wasting money on just-above-average pizza and little else. No more.

Nice pizza quality. Very different and good. Service is horrible. Usually some high school kid that knows nothing about the biz. They will leave you standing at the hostess station until they get around to it! Then you'll sit and wait for drinks until someone final asks "have you been helped"? NO ! So then you say; Well I'll call it in and have it delivered. Did this many times hoping they could get it right - No luck. Order is wrong nearly every time. When I spoke to the owner about it, he was really defensive and kind of a jerk. No Thanks, We're done with this place......

My husband does not like pizza. But...he loves the pizza at Trackside. Service is good, fun atmosphere, party room available. Pleanty of parking available across the railroad tracks at the "old Cornford Campbell" parking lot. Kids get to make their own pizza and yell "pie up" as it goes into the oven. Favorite pizza - The Chihuahua Al Pacifico.

My son loves trains and pizza. So, Trackside Pizza seems like the natural choice. We usually frequent the Rock for their pizza buffet at lunch. I saw online that the trackside had a lunch buffet. So, I thought I would give it a try. We walked in and no one was there to greet us. We saw there were only two tables in which you could kind of see the trains (someone obviously missed the lucrative prospect of pizza, children, and trains that could easily been seen). The place was not busy and there were many open tables. After 5 more minutes we were told we could take any table. We said we wanted the buffet. NO instructions or information about how to make that happen. After 5-10 minutes I walked up to bar/kitchen and we saw the buffet pizza sitting there waiting to be consumed. Had to ask, how do we get to that pizza behind the glass? We were told we had to wait for our waitress. Now it had been 15 minutes, we told the waitress when we walked in that we wanted the buffet. Apparently she had forgotten because she offered menus. Okay, again we wanted the buffet and why not the "make your own pizza" for my son. That sounds like fun. Apparently there is a liaison between me and my buffet pizza because your waitress brings you your pizza. Please governor, may I have some more? They will bring one to two pieces at a time. Which took forever to get? Now I am really hungry with a headache. I had to wait over 25 minutes to eat at the "buffet" and please remember the pizza was already made and the place was not busy. Then when I was done with my initial two pieces I had to ask for more. It felt weird. The pizza did not compare to the Rock. It was probably in the same category with the Casa Mia Pizza in Puyallup (which is alright nothing memorable). The ironic thing is most restaurants make the children's meal really cheap to get the parents in. We paid the most for my son's small personal pizza, that he got to make, and did not eat (what toddler eats). We brought this irony up to the staff who could not really give us a good reason other than he got to put the cheese on the pizza. I refuse to go back due to the lack of customer service, the wait time, and the false advertisement of a buffet. I have returned to the Rock where my son eats for free, I do not have a food liaison, and the pizza is superior. My son begs to come back to eat pizza and see trains (he wants to see the trains). My husband takes my son without me, saying he is going to the place where the buffet is held hostage.

I had driven by this place for years so we decided to give it a go. I'm not a huge pizza person but my kiddo's love it. The food was pretty great but pretty pricey too. That wasn't our biggest issue though. We were all petty hungry. I ordered the kids 'make your own pizza option'. That was alot of fun for the little ones however when they finally came to pick them up and bake them, it took FOREVER. I must have have walked up there 5 times to go and stare at the oven.. I think we ended up having to wait for a delivery order before our order was baked. We came at a very quiet time though and I can't imagine going there when it's busy. We'll have to wait a few years before we go back because my kids just can't handle that kind of waiting.

Good, good, good. Had lunch with a group of 6 on sunny Friday afternoon and was very pleased with nearly everything. It's a nice location next the tracks in downtown Puyallup and they did a good job with the decor. A lot of wooden booths and a few tables with wooden chairs, so not too comfy seating if you have a ginger bum like Grandpa does. He asked for a cushion but no dice. Anyway, nice atmosphere and location. Pizza was very good, nice crisp and chewy crust. A lot of creativity with the topping combos (fresh jalapeños!). Salads were also very good. They offer a make your own for the kiddies. They bring you some dough, sauce, cheese, and 3 toppings. My 4 yr. old daughter loved it. In spite of Grandpa's hard chair, he was able to enjoy his lasagna. He reports 3.5 stars on his dish. Service was good. Waitress was nice. I will definitely return often.

Hands down the best pizza joint in the Puyallup Tacoma area. From the appetizers to the pies, I've never been let down on the quality and deliciousness from this place. The staff is very kind courteous as well. I would smack anybody that begs to differ!!! :)

My boyfriend and I drive all the way from Downtown Seattle just to have Trackside Pizza. We have not found a place that compares to this one. We love the family friendly atmosphere and the staff is great! We vote that Trackside opens up a location near the tracks in Seattle so we don't have to drive as far ;) Still our number 1 place for pizza. We are forever loyal to Trackside!

Had a great time there. I had the light rail salad. I know, its not pizza, but it was darn good. I ate every bit. If I could have I would have licked my plate. Had good service, the decor was interesting with rail road motif. I would go there again for sure. Next time I will try some pizza with my salad.

The pizza was delicious (had a B&O), but wow expensive at $20 for a 12" pie. Beer selection is meh; one amber, a hefe AND a witbier (if you can call Blue Moon a witbier with a straight face), and one IPA, then domestic crap. It's a great place to have a slice, as long as your friend is buying.

It was clean, the staff was friendly and if your kids like watching trains, sit close to the windows. The lunch offer is great, unlimited pizza with salad for 6,99. I agree, the regular pizzas are a bit pricey. Our veggie pizza was really delicious. Will go again, I'm sure.

Really good pizza. Thin crust and lots of unusual toppings. When we were in Italy a couple years ago, my son said I can't wait to get home to get a good pizza at Trackside. They are not traditional Italian but very creative with something for everyone. Great location with take out and delivery.

Best local pizza. My favorate is the Ol' 97 which has cloves of roasted garlic, goat cheese, mushrooms, tomatos and other things.. we add their sausage (really good sausage) and kalamata olives. Oh yeah. and their salads are great too. We usually split a Bullet salad with our pizza. The occasional passing train only adds to the ambiance!

Best Pizza in the Pacific Northwest. Okay, that's a bold statement, but the wife and I are serious about good food, and i won't review a crappy restaurant. For years, Pizza Experience in Fife was our pick for best pizza in Pierce County. But ownership change several years ago killed that eatery. So we didn't eat pizza for a few years (chain pizza stores? They SUCK!) Then came Trackside. We were leery. Too many pizza places think the only thing that matters is a cool dinning room and lots of cheese. We know better. A good pie demands a GREAT crust. Trackside has the perfect crust. Not thin, not deep. Not too crisp. Not too doughy. It comes out of the oven with a crispy bottom, and chewy layer. The flavor is rich, like a perfectly done focaccia. Building on that perfect foundation, Trackside offers a nicely spiced sauce and a range of toppings. Personally, we love their B&O (Pepperoni, sausage, olives and mushrooms). Though we don't have kids, I really liked watching the families partake of the opportunity for kids to 'build their own' -- servers will bring balls of dough and bowls of toppings so kids can stretch their own dough and build their own pizzas. The kids then deliver these to the oven-tenders, with shouts of "pies up!" Pretty cool service for families.

The pizza is really, really good! It is pretty pricey though. The parking is a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE, enough that I have actually turned around and left before because it is so difficult and if all the parking spots are taken up (not that there are many) you can get stuck trying to get out of it. The service is not so great. I have only been there at lunch time and while the waitresses are usually very nice, there are not enough of them, especially if you are there for the buffet lunch. It is ridiculous that they bring you your food. I do not recommended getting the buffet if you are on an hour time limit.

Best pizza in town. Pricey? Depends on what you are looking for. If you want fresh made pizza, not at all. If you want chain pizza, then maybe. Only two beers on tap...or at least only two worth drinking. They may have bud, etc. but I stick with Mac & Jack or Diamond knot. At one point they had Big Al's amber and Lagunitas IPA. If you want a wider selection, go next door to Crockett's which is the same owner. Parking is a bit difficult.

Great place to grab a pizza! Good pizza, great location! The reason it is called trackside pizza is because there is an old railroad that it is right next to. It is kind of cool the way its set up. They don't have the best pizza in the world, but it has a great old fashioned downtown feel to it which I thoroughly enjoy!

  • Chad W.

Decent pizza, but that's the least you should expect for $30 a pie (lg 4 topping). The wait staff was unhelpful, slow and borderline rude. The "child friendly atmosphere" translates to screaming kids and spittle on the tables. A real waste of a great location SKIP IT!

My husband and I always try to support local downtown Puyallup businesses whenever possible. On one visit, the service was terrible and when they discounted our meal, they refused to take our coupon...saying that they can only apply one discount. My husband explained that they discounted the meal because of their error and we shouldn't be penalized by having a coupon too. My husband wrote a letter and we were PLEASANTLY surprised to received a letter from the owner apologizing and they gave us a gift certificate to come back. We've been a fan ever since. To have someone take the time to hear our complaint...and response? That was awesome. The service has been consistently friendly and we really enjoy their pizza. We usually get the B & O and haven't been disappointed. It's a little more than the usual pizza place but we really enjoy the flavor and quality of their pizzas. Their lunch deals are pretty darn good...especially if you're pregnant (moi) or have a hearty appetite. You can have all you can eat pizza + salad for $6.99 or all you can eat pizza & pop for $7.99. It threw me off that they bring the pizza to you instead of you getting it...a little different but it still works. I went recently with my sister-in-law and her 4 year old daughter...she wouldn't eat anything but cheese and olives...no pizza. They were so nice and didn't charge her for it. Good selection of salads and pizza. Great place to go...kids love (or are scared) by the trains zipping by the establishment. Parking is tight but they also have street parking. Parking in downtown Puyallup isn't woo woo but it's free! What a change from downtown Seattle!

It's a shame that Trackside Pizza isn't good. The place has plenty of character (brick walls, old-timey signs, witty pizza names) but fails in a variety of ways. Trackside offers semi-gourmet pizzas with fresh ingredients and combinations you wouldn't find at Dominos. This is pretty nice, and the pizza tastes not-to-bad. The problem is that Trackside charges incredible amounts for their pies. A 16-inch vegetarian pizza starts at about $22 (a 16-inch pie will feed two people very well, three people pretty well). Going out in a group of four or five can quickly send the bill into the $70-range without drinks or a tip. The service at Trackside is also reprehensible. Our waiter last Friday evening forgot to put our order in the system. After 45 minutes of waiting, I finally flagged him down to ask where our salad was, as surely a salad wouldn't take 45 minutes to make... 45 minutes later our salads and pies arrived. At no point did the waiter ask us how it was, apologize for the inconvenience, or ask if we would like to see someone on the management. What's worse is that this isn't the first time this has happened to me at Trackside. I love the idea of a small, friendly, fresh pizza place in downtown Puyallup. However, Trackside has spent too much time sponsoring little leagues and putting cute placards on the walls. The food is pretty good, and a definite step up from your normal delivery places, but the prices are outrageous and the service nothing but terrible. I will definitely not be returning.

Stopped by Trackside last night. Met quickly at the door and assigned a table, however, the table was dirty. We moved to another table that was clean but behind a wall and soon we felt we were "forgotten" by the staff. When we reminded the wait staff we were there the service improved greatly. My wife ordered a wine she thought tasted bad and they replaced it with no problem. The salads, entrees and pizzas were delivered prompt, fresh and hot. Very delicious. When I come back to area, I will probably return. While there, three trains went by (two passenger; one freight) which was a treat for the toddler with us!

The pizza was good. I went unfortunately on a Friday night at 6pm so it was very busy. Our waitress was great extremely friendly. I'm not to sure though that the pizza was worth a 50 dollar night. I mean I did add in two beers but oh well. But all n all it was good food.

Best pizza in town! Try the grand trunk express, the crust is crispy and it's loaded with lots of goodies. They add the vegi's on the 2nd pass of cooking so they are still crunchie, simply the best. If you take the Sounder

I can't believe this place hadn't been added yet. This place opened in March from what I understand and is located in downtown Puyallup, right next to the railroad tracks, hence the name of the place I'm guessing. Head south on Meridian and right before you hit the railroad tracks you should see it on your left hand side. If you're looking for parking, go over the tracks, take a left E main, take a left on 2nd and as soon as you cross the railroad tracks, hang a left and straight ahead is the building with parking and an entrance to the rear. Anyways, since we're finally there, enjoy the food. And to be honest, I've only eaten here twice and both times were for their lunch buffet, which is easily worth your money. 8 bucks gets you as much pizza as you can eat and a soda with free refills. The waiter will bring you two slices of whatever is already cooked up, when you get done, she'll tell you what is still up and you get two more. Pretty simple process. I think that's the only thing about this place that I didn't like. Since I don't eat much meat, I usually only get cheese or veggie pizza. I think they have a couple different veggie pizzas because it's been different each time I'm there. The second time we went, they had no cheese pizza and one veggie pizza. The GREAT thing is, they actually made us a cheese pizza when we told them about our picky taste buds. Now that's service! The inside of the place is pretty low key. Brick wall all along one side for that authentic old fashioned kind of feel with plenty of old time signs. Nice coozy booths too. I wish I could tell you more about the nightlife here, how the place is when it's actually got people around. I've only been during the middle of the day during the week, so it's usually pretty mellow. Which is nice and the employees are always friendly. I'd recommend this place to any of my friends or family and would consider it a place for family, young and old!

Visited Trackside yesterday with my family and some friends and their family. Kids can create their own pizzas, so it's interactive and fun! Pizza isn't the best locally overall, but good (probably top 10 in pierce county, maybe best in Puyallup?); fresh ingredients and pretty decent crust. Salad was ok - my two favorite dressings aren't even offered there (French or Honey Mustard), so I settled for Thousand Island. The ambiance of the building rumbling when a train goes by is kinda cool and unique, too. And considering I'm a football fan and we went there on a Sunday, I'd love to see some games on some TV screens, but there's only one screen and from where we were sitting, we couldn't really see it. I'm sure we'll go there again...

  • Sheena D.

This is not the place to go if you are in a time crunch or looking for a cheap pizza but the pizza is very good. The salads are solid and typical of a "gourmet" pizza place with interesting ingredients and dressings. The waitresses leave you alone most of the time so I usually bring work with me if I am eating alone and get a great deal accomplished. The atmosphere is fun and the trains roaring by are an added layer of texture to the dining experience. One of the better places to get pizza in Puyallup but you need to go into it with the right frame of mind or head there with out of town guests, they will appreciate that it is not a chain and get a local business vibe.

Great pizza! If your in the area, stop by and get some great tasting pizza. If you like spicey, go for the chiwawa. They have various other specialy pizza, and a banquet room that holds about 25 people. Parking sometimes gets conjested in the back, but that doesnt effect the tase of the pizza.

I have eaten here twice and both times it was a dumb choice. The pizza arrived about 45 mins after we ordered ... there were only 5 other tables that were busy in the place... then it was burnt- black burnt... not flour burnt. Teens run the place- so expect the same type of service as if you asked them to clean their room when yuo ask for a glass of water... Its over priced and really not all that its cracked up to be. I will not go back - ever.

My #1 choice for pizza! It's worth the drive! The pizza isn't oily like some pizzas can be. You can taste the freshness of the vegetable toppings. The crust is juuuust right. It seems to take a little longer to get your pizza, but it's well worth the wait.

we were here about 7 on a Friday night. waited about 20 minutes for a table. there was a party or something in the catering room that clapped every 5 minutes. it was very noisy and unpleasant. they have bud light and coors light on tap. does anyone need two choices for light beer? we ordered the train deluxe pizza with Alfredo sauce. it had way too much sauce and was "soupy". the bullet salad was good. server was patient and helpful. no problem splitting bill between cards.

I had wanted to eat at this place since last summer. The place shakes a bit when the trains go by for real. Best parking is behind the place. The pizza is delicious, we ate veggie, and the garlic bread was incredible. I was pretty full on bread and salad when the pizza finally arrived. The waiter told us they would deliver to our house, about 20 minutes away, which impressed me. If I was really hungry during the week, I think the buffet would be the best deal around. Something like $7.00 or something. I don't know where to find better pizza in the valley. My only complaint was how cold it was in the restaurant.

Super fun place and really kid friendly! Located so close to the railroad tracks that the place shakes as the trains go by!! We like to go here on lunch breaks for their salad and all you can eat pizza. The pizza is delicious ... the best in Puyallup by far and one of my favorite ever!! Wait staff used to be extremely slow and unattentive, but has improved so much and the last few times I have gone , we havne't had any complaints!

I was so excited when this place opened. I worked downtown and the options are quite limited unless you want to drive up to South Hill. The pizza is good and the staff is always accommodating. The lunch buffet is worth the price. The blush wine vinaigrette dressing is amazing. Also, it's one of the few non-chain restaurants downtown that's open on Mondays.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians.
