Ayothaya Thai Restaurant Menu

I would agree the waitress sucks, just plain sucks. She hates her job and would rather be anywhere else. Clearing frowning the whole time. The older folks are much nicer, they should give that girl a boot out the door. The sauces are spot on, very delicious. They are very skimpy on the serving sizes. Almost ripping you off. We ordered a pineapple fried rice last time and half of the plate was empty. Absolutely not cool. Get it together folks.

Hands down, the best thai food in Puyallup. The food is always flavorful and cooked to perfection, the staff is always welcoming, and I love it. Go there. Immediately.

Me and my family LOVE this restaurant for their Thai food! We used to eat here a lot and the owners already recognize us and memorize our orders! We like to order calamari for appetizer, thai curry fried rice, basil fried rice, pla chu chui curry (fish fillet in curry), and papaya salad. =) THEY ARE ALL EXTREMELY DELICIOUS! Good portion sizes for a family of four to share. Everything is full of flavor and you can choose how spicy you want it! Food tastes like a legit Thai restaurant-- not one of those "generic" ones that only mimic Thai flavor! Haha! One thing though... I wish their calamari dish had more calamari (squid) than the vegetables they fry!

Came here on a Saturday night. Ambience is nice. Food was pretty good. We got seafood fried rice, pad thai and this other noodle dish that had ramen and vegetables. Tasty and spice was just right (we got mild). It would have been nice if our waitress cracked a smile, but other than that it was an enjoyable experience. Will be back!

The best Thai food I've had anywhere so far and reasonably priced (pretty average, cheaper than several other places, more expensive than one). I love their Pad Thai and Tom Kha soup especially, and there is a large variety of other dishes. The biggest disadvantage is that there isn't a ton of space inside and I have had to wait longer than the estimated time to pick up to-go orders several times, but that won't stop me from going back.

First time ordering take-out here and I'm a fan! We usually go to this Thai/Viet restaurant in Lakewood, but their red curry is disgustingly thick. So I was curious to see how they cook their curry and it was delicious! Tastes just like the one I order in Cali, except Ayothaya adds way too much bamboo. We also ordered Beef Pad See-Ew which the broccoli was a little undercooked, beef was tender and delicious and they were a little stingy on the noodles. Plus it was really sweet which I wasn't expecting. DH ordered Pineapple fried rice with Beef, but there was barely any pineapple! I also got their Thai iced tea which is by far the best one I've had in this state! Overall, it was a pretty satisfying meal. Prices were good and not overpriced. Next time I'll try to dine-in to get the full experience. Update March 16, 2012 Tonight I ordered take-out and the lady I spoke to on the phone was really rude, but when I went in to pick up the food, the lady at the counter was really sweet! Anyways, I ordered their Crab Delight which comes with a plum sauce, but where's the crab at?! I also ordered Tofu Sen Yai which was delicious with the sweet peanut sauce and big flat noodles!! Wished it had more broccoli, but that's just me and my crazy broccoli addiction. Can't have Thai without a Thai Iced Tea! I even ordered 2 because they're THAT good. Just between you and me, this take out was just for one haha But it always makes a good lunch for tomorrow.

What's not to like about this place? Traffic during rush hour (and probably weekends) is pretty gnarly on Meridian, but this place is easy to get to and it's a nice quiet respite from the madding trudge from stoplight to stoplight. You walk in and there's a big marine tropical tank with lots of brightly-colored specimens. There are plenty of decorations everywhere to make you feel like you've stepped a little ways out of the strip mall rat race outside. The service is warm and friendly and prompt. You immediately feel like you're in a well-run restaurant that aims to give people a good dining experience. The menu is fairly extensive, with all the usual suspects plus a few dishes you don't always see. Lots of curries, lots of different noodle dishes and salads. Lots of super-fast wok cooking--you get your meal in a couple minutes when it's not busy. I hit this place for a late lunch with my mom, and we agreed it can hold its own with any place in town, though Royal Thai in the north end is still the favorite for us out of the handful of Thai places we have tried. But when on South Hill, there's no doubt that this is a worthy addition to the list of good Thai spots around T-Town.

Crab delights were great, tom kha was bland and not spicy when requested Thai hot, garlic beef was tough and little meat to it. Thai in fife is better as well as Mekong Thai

I really like this little restaurant Number 58 yellow curry with prawns and jasmine rice is the bomb!!

Heard about this place from friends. Very happy with the food and service. Beats all the nearby Thai places hands down!

  • Justin S.

This place is amazing. Everything I have ever had here is a 10 out of 10. The rama noodle (meat, rice noodle, peanut sauce over spinach) is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. Do not overlook this place.

  • Kierston C.

So I'm going to keep this short the server has been so much better and I actually enjoy her company. Food is amazing, but I still won't order curry here :( golden noodles is my go to. Still a wonderful thai establishment in puyallup.

  • Julia M.

average quality Thai food, bad service. rude waitress, couldn't get a smile from her. my phad Thai was decent, although nothing spicy about it and I wanted 5 star (HOT). I rate it 2 of 5 stars for the gorgeous decor. ;-)

I live in the area but never really noticed the place. Just found it from yelp. I have to say... The reviews are spot on. The food is really good. Had the panang curry and the pad tai. Would go back again

Love this place! So many vegan options! The fried spring rolls = perfect. Golden vegetable appetizer = lightly fried & fluffy. And their plum sauce? = ridiculously tasty! Always clean & consistent, decor is nice & well thought-out, and takeout orders are always fresh & ready when you get there! Awesome place.

  • Nick G.

I'm an out of towner so I picked this place after seeing the reviews on Yelp. Appetizer - Spring Rolls: Crisp and Flavorful. Sweet sauce is delicious. Soup - Tom Yum Hot (5/5 on Hot Scale): Very good. Not as spicy as I would like but a good burn. Dinner - Pad Thai: Yummy Overall I would recommend but if you really like spicy maybe ask for even hotter than 5 ;)

    (4)
  • Allen B.

A whole lot of flavor and variety packed into a little place. All the vegetables are crisp and fresh and meats are of top quality. The rice paper wrappers on the fresh rolls were a bit soggy and the lunch portions are small. Should have asked for 5/5 on the heat level because 3/5 didn't cut it. The decor transports you to an exotic locale. The fish tank is awesome. The Dogfaced Puffer welcomes you. It won't be easy finding better Thai food on South Hill.

Been here twice. First time was earlier this year, and I wasn't that impressed with the entrees or appetizers we ordered. Since then I've never been interested in going back. My mom and aunt are fans of this place, though, so she convinced me to give it one more try. We went for a later dinner Friday night and it changed the way I feel about this place..in a good way. Since it was after 8:00 it wasn't crowded at all. The two ladies working were extremely nice and attentive to us. I love how they have an array of selections on their menu. Here's what we ended up getting: crab delight, calamari salad, garlic delight w. seafood combination +$2.00 (me), garlic delight w. prawns +$1.50 (mom). The prices are super reasonable (I believe our dishes were around $8.50 + extra for the seafood). They also give you good sized servings of your choice of meat so I have no complaints in that department. We really enjoyed how tasty our food was, so I will most likely be back when the craving hits.

Loved this place! They had my favorite dish (Massaman curry) which was as delicious as I remembered from the place in my hometown. Great atmosphere, great decor, and friendly staff. Service was quick and attentive and prices were great. My husband had never had Thai before and he loved everything he tried as well. We definitely will be back, many times!

  • L B.

I have been trying to no avail to find this place and finally had to call and have them direct me. Service 5 star- the ladies couldn't have been nicer, great prices. Space 4 star- cute, clean nice atmosphere. Food 3 star- good egg rolls but sauce on the pad thai was not that spicy and just too sweet for my taste no matter how much vinegar or peppers I used to try and balance it out.

  • Bree M.

This is probably my second favorite thai restaurant besides Thian Thai in Bonney lake. Their food is always really good here and their spring rolls are amazing!!! My favorites are the massaman curry and heavenly coriander. There is one younger waitress who I always get who is very unfriendly even when I try to speak to her in thai she just ignores me. The older lady who works there is very nice and sweet.

Favorite Thai restaurant. Being half Thai and eating my fair share of Thai food growing up this is the closes I've come to mom's Thai food. From pad Thai, pad see ew, curries, and my favorite pad kee mao, every dish was made spectacularly. Friendly staff. They always interact with my child, even watching her at times while my wife and I ate. I have used them for catering a few times and all my guests were highly satisfied. Try anything and everything on menu because you will not be disappointed.

One of the nicest Asian restaurants in terms of decoration. The decoration is very classy and Eastern. One of the thought I had was "wao! They really brought the whole Thailand here to Puyallup!". The most impressive dish here, I'd say, the duck curry! We keep on coming back here and order that dish. Even though the portion isnt large but its worth every penny you pay. Also the Tom Yum here deserves a mention. My mom, after having the first bite:"I feel very light in my soul. The sourness and sweetness of the soup does makes my stress vanish and go away. I feel like mediation". Well, yeah, it explains how awesome this place is!:)

I LOVE Thai.. And this was the first time I didn't want to finish my meal.. Not very good :/ and the spicy isn't actually spicy, it's very mild.

  • Tara H.

I was really excited to have Thai tonight and chose this place based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant is cute and has a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the service was terrible. Fast - yes. Unfriendly - yes. The servers hurried about but did not smile and barely acknowledged us. I seriously felt like we were unwelcome. That said, the food came super fast and was hot and fresh. It was so fast that our entrees arrived well before we finished our appies, not the best plan. I think we were in and out within 20 minutes and we ordered two appies and two entrees. I wouldn't eat in again but would recommend for take out. Or perhaps if you are in a hurry!

I absolutely love this place! I have been coming here since high school, probably once a week. I moved to california and i have been missing this place for 10 months. I went to many thai places but it just didn't taste the same. I came to visit family and friends and had to eat my favorite cashew chicken ( 5 star ) to-go since there was no power at home ( my hair was not in condition to be going out ) it tasted soooo good:) im gunna miss this place again till june!

  • Lisa S.

Love love love this Thai place! Theyre Pineapple fried rice, pad thai, and wonton curry is sooo delicious! I am VERY picky about my asian food but Ayothaya knows how to do it! There service is always fast but the servers are not the friendliest in the world but the food makes up for it!

We used to frequent Chili Thai until we finally decided to give this place a try. The customer service is great, the food is amazing and always arrives quickly never a long wait. It is a small place inside and is usually pretty busy but we've never had to wait for a table long. They also have things that Chili Thai does not like the Mama Phad and a few others. We love to go in with our boys everyone picks something different and it is served family style so we all share everything. For such a small place we were very impressed and it has become our usual spot to eat.Our absolute fav's are for appetizers the Crab Delight and for regular dishes the Mama Phad, Phad Thai, or Pineapple Rice.

  • Savvy W.

Tom yum soup was perfect, tangy, spicy, and sweet. The other three dishes were too sweet for my taste. The Papaya salad, pad see yew, and sweet n sour were too sweet, in my opinion. I wouldn't go back except for the tom yum soup. Tip: get the mango smoothie.... Amazing goodness.

My first review I gave them a 1 star. I've been back several times for lunch since only ordering their fresh rolls and I've never been disappointed or had poor service since. The little bowl of soup that comes with is yummy and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my fresh rolls. I still wont order anything off the regular menu again... ill go to a different Thai restaurant when wanting more food... but I've enjoyed the good service, clean environment and yummy freshrolls and soup enough times I felt it warrented a second review.

Best Thai I've ever had! There is nothing else that compares to Ayothaya! We love Thai food, and have tried every Thai place in a 20 mile radius, but this is absolutely the best ever! Favorite menu items include: Crab Delight (I never come here without ordering), Chicken Satay (best peanut sauce, order extra), Tom Kah Soup (a new found fav), Phad Thai, and the Panang Curry. The service is also great and timely even when they're busy. Love it!

My family and I love this place!! Best thai place for sure. We've known the family for years and their food never disappoint. They are so sweet and the service is amazing and the food is incredible. I have tried almost every dish here and not once do I have any complaints.

  • LAIKA K.

I went here because of their 4 star review; however, this place was really disappointing. Everything in their food is really sweet and spicy is not spicy enough. I order Pad Kee Maow and the noodles were overly sweet and had this really unsettling tasted that I can't really describe. This place is okay, but I was also visiting from San Francisco where I have far better Thai food options.

Here for dinner tonight & take out for tomorrow (lunch & dinner), while on call. (Kinda makes the night go a little better) Standard Phad (noodles) with the stuffed chicken wings, and scallop dish. Got the other fried chicken wings & whole chicken for tomorrow! Gotta have the Thai beer (Singha)...& this is from a non-beer lover, lightweight drinker. Just to complete the experience. My wife's favorite Thai place in the South Sound area. Not that close for us either, but a treat when we get there.

Really enjoyed the chicken rama I had here recently. They added in wide rice noodles to the traditional fresh spinach and peanut sauce. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind we brought with us our infant grandson. In fact, they stopped by to visit with him while we ate dinner. It was brief, and very sweet-- did not interrupt our dining at all. We shared a scoop of coconut ice cream for dessert-- oh my, it was so good! I've been here for lunch within the last year, and ordered the Pad Thai. It was kind of fishy tasting. But I'll come back and try this dish again.

Fast friendly service, very lack luster lunch. Panang curry was water, the rice tasted watery and the 5 star heat I asked for ( I like Panang good and spicy) was not even worth 2 stars. I have a cast iron stomach. I was sick after eating here. I do not get the soup they give you. Brown short grain rice offered not tried The meal was for me lousy. But the noodles at the table next to me looked goid so maybe another chance? Just blah for me I am sorry

Who knew that you could get some of the best Thai food in Puyallup??? Well, you sure can, at Ayothaya. Lots of dishes to pick from, and hard to go wrong with pretty much anything on the noodle menu. Flavors a rich and complex, veggies are not overcooked, sauces have the right consistency and meat compliments the dishes well. I have eaten here on numerous occasions, both take-out and inside and can attest to the quality of food and service. The decor is loud and very gilded, but has a feel of authenticity. Dishes you should try here are: - Golden Noodles (ask for extra veggies) - Sunny Delight (w/brown rice) - Larb Salad - Fresh Rolls (with awesome house peanut sauce) - Phad See Ew (yummy noodle goodness) Enjoy :-)

The food was slightly above average Thai. The layout of the establishment was nice, and they really did a good job with the decor. Overall, it's a very solid Thai place!

I saw this place driving home one day and since the other Thai place in the area did not do much for me, I decided to try this one. Location: 3 Stars Located off of Meridian in a strip mall complex next to a Best Buy and behind some private toy store. Not too hard to see from the highway, but kind of tricky to get to as you need to enter the strip mall parking lot, then go into this little mini lot connected to it. Parking was fine about a dozen or so spots in the main lot and of course about hundred or so in the strip mall lot right behind it. Inside is pretty roomy. The place is on the café size scale about the size of most teriyaki huts, so nothing huge, but nothing small either. Nice wooden Thai carvings on all the walls and the usual fishtank in the foyer. The main counter is in the rear of the place with the usual "hole" in which food from the kitchen is passed through to the main counter. I liked the lighting and cleanliness of the place and felt good there. Ambiance/Service: 4 Stars The décor was very ornate and pretty. Wooden carvings and Thai brac all over the place, but not cluttered. Like a museum in a way with a nice organization of décor as to not interfere with the layout of the place. Tables were set up in a standard fashion. Seats were comfy. The main waitress greeted us when we came in and service was good. Again I came in the morning, so the sun was rising and shining off all the gold décor which was nice. Not much else to add as I been here only once and have not returned at this time; through I plan to. Food: 4.0 stars The menu was elaborate. A lot of traditional and fusion dishes, a good number of soups, and a good tapa section. I had Pad Se Ew and Spring Rolls on this trip and my wife some seafood noodle soup. (tends to be the norm on Thai trips) The Se Ew is pretty good. Nice fatty noodles, a savory soy flavor without too much sweetness. A nice char also. Standard broccoli which was not too hard and egg fluff. Spice was spicy, so that was good. A lot of places under the spice, but my 4 was a 4, so I was happy. Spring rolls were okay. Nothing too special, but standard spring roll with rice noodles, shrimp and rice wrapper. My wife's soup was good also. Rich broth, a lot of noodles, and a good selection of seafood; shrimp, scallops, etc. She was happy with it and it was not too salty, and savory. Again, I been here only once, but I will go again and try some more foods. A good place for eating before or after the mall as the food court there is pretty lame at this time.

Top tier authentic thai food for a reasonable price. My spicy pad thai was good all the way through.

About as un-Thai as Thai food can be. Portions too sweet, too large, noodles undercooked....blah.

This place is legit and has great portions for the price. I will definately come back!

  • Flora W.

The majority of the food I've tried here is pretty authentic. I stick to the stuff I know. My mother is 100% Thai and loves this place. It's a pretty small restaurant, but the atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is amazing. The ladies are always smiling, and the food comes out quickly. I'd give it 10 stars if I could :)

  • DeAnne E.

Arg, darn those seeds! I think I would have liked my Phad Kee Mao better if it wasn't for the mouthful of seeds in every bite. It was really annoying picking them out. I never had to do that with Phad Kee Mao before. I didn't get to finish it because there were so many seeds. The service was great though and the restaurant had a nice interior with a pretty cool fish tank.

Husband I have lived in the area for many years and have never been to Ayothaya. We ordered papaya salad, cashew chicken and vegetable delight w/ chicken. Not impressed. If you want decent Thai in the area, I'd recommend Chili Thai.

I love this place. The food is so good! My favorite is the chicken phad Thai. I also recommend the chicken curry! The only thing is I wish there was a bigger rice portion. But all in all its the best Thai restaurant in Puyallup.

Wow, I cannot believe I haven't been here in 5 or so years! My boyfriend and I came here on one of the many dates we had before moving in together. I remembered whatever we ate was delicious and tried other thai restaurants in the neighboring areas. All I can recall is that their pad thai was better than any of the restaurants around. We came here last night for our valentines day dinner. It was not as packed as I thought as we were anticipating waiting for a table. But when I dropped my boyfriend off to grab us a table while I parked, I was surprised that he was seated right away. We were seated at the same table that we sat in many years ago (cue in "AWWWWWW"). Many were there waiting for their take out orders, which is smart, especially being valentines day. We ordered the prawn rolls and the crab delight as our appetizers. You cannot come here and not get the crab delight unless you're allergic to crab or something. Let me start by describing the delightful little purses of cream cheese, green onion and crab bits all stuffed in a wonton wrapper and then deep fried, served with a dipping sauce that is sweet and I cannot remember what is in it but it complimented the crab delights really well. The prawn rolls were these giant prawns uncurled and wrapped in a egg roll wrapper and then fried served with the same dipping sauce as the crab delight. Both appetizers are light and crispy and served right out of the fryer, so be careful and wait for it to cool down a little, as hard as that could be especially if you're hungry. On to the main courses, my boyfriend orders the Curried rice with seafood and I order a chicken pad thai, both with two stars. You often have to be careful since most thai places do not measure the spice, they just throw in what would be a 1-5 star level. Tonight, our two was a two, perfectly mild with a nice kick. My boyfriend said he loved his choice as it had whole pieces of mussels, large rings of squid, shrimp and not sure what else was thrown in there but the rice was nice and soft, and the curry flavor was not overpowering the dish. My chicken pad thai is what pad thai should be. Plenty of chicken, noodles nice and saucy with the noodles being "al dente" not too mushy and not too tough, just perfect. My thai iced tea was the true star of my dinner as it was just sheer delightful. Perfect amount of the tea, milk, and ice. My brother always says you can judge how good a thai place is by their thai iced tea. Ayothaya gets an A+ with me. I am not a connoisseur of thai iced teas but I'm sure my brother (who is one) would approve. I cannot wait to come back again seeing with my thai iced tea, two entrees and two appetizers only cost us roughly $37 before tip. Not bad for a valentines day dinner.

Great for takeout or a date! My honey and I dine here when we want to get Thai'd up! The quality of the dishes remains excellent and they are consistent. Here is the rundown on some of our favorites: Chicken Pad See Ew- Hand down- best I've ever had! Huge pieces of white meat chicken, tasty noodles, and perfectly cooked fresh broccoli. Love it! Panang Chicken- Lightly sweet with harmonious flavors. Green Curry Chicken- My favorite comfort food, and they do it well here! The mild is not super spicy so ask for it hot if you are a heat freak. Side note- I am super happy about the fact that they have huge spoons to shovel all of the yummy morsels of warm delicious goodness into my mouth.

We came again last week and are STILL super huge fans! I stuck with the Pad Thai (because I liked it so much last time) and I was not disappointed (except for the NOT generous serving of meat with it). We also stuck with the Crab Delight - SOOOOOOO good! The boyfriend got something different (though I don't remember what it was called) and other than it being a little light on the meat, we were both impressed. It was NOT as spicy as he liked it (even though he ordered "Hot") but he said it had good flavor so he got over it. We also got the Prawn Rolls - I wasn't a fan but not because they didn't do a good job, I jus tdon't think I'm that big of a fan of prawns. :) Can't wait to come back! I really do want to try something different, but I am a BIG fan of the Pad Thai - Just wish they'd add more meat to it!

We ordered the Phad Thai and unfortunately is was not very good. The sauce on it was too red based - I'm not sure what was used but it wasn't what we expected. We ordersed gyoza which was good.

Lovely little restaurant. The papaya salad, yellow curry, pad thai, golden noodles, fresh rolls, and chicken satay are delicious. They were accommodating of my toddler which was nice since it is a small restaurant. Our last experience we sat next to a friendly couple and the close proximity of the tables was nice because we chatted throughout dinner. The staff is very friendly and quick to refill water - a great thing if you get a dish with some added heat. They actually stick to the heat index and a 3 is a 3 and a 5 is a 5. Will be back!

I recently discovered this gem when I was in need of catering for work. I should've known by the how busy they were, this was going to be good. Not only was the food delicious but the staff was so kind and accommodating with my LARGE and complicated order. I came in just as the dinner "rush" was starting but they still prepared everything I needed perfectly! My order consisted of... -Phad Thai -Chicken Satay -Spring Rolls (favorite!) -Tom Yum Goong -Larb Gai Salad -Rama Chicken -Holy Basil Beef -Massaman Curry ALL the dishes were "spot on!" and their peanut sauce is perfection! It was creamy and didn't taste like watered down peanut butter...can't explain it, you just have try it yourself! I have found my new favorite Thai restaurant.

Ayothaya's my new favorite stop for Thai in the South. All dishes to date exceeds my expectations: Tom Yum Soup (add $1.50 for prawns) - an aromatic broth laced with mushrooms and lemongrass, comes lightly sour and spicy depicting rich but simple stock. Crab Fried Rice - Non-greasy, flavorful but needs more crab and more rice. When I do get a bite of some crab, it is "oh so good". I do not recommend this item as the price is high for a small portion. I told them there was no crab I can see and they remade the dish. Found out that they charged me $3 extra for crab that should have been there in the first place; wasn't but a few pieces. I am never ordering crab fried rice ever again here. I am mad! Three Flavour Trout - served on a sizzling cast iron skillet, the fishy retains the crispy outer shell and stays warm till the last bite. The sauce and veggies do not overpower but go hand-in-hand. Panang Curry w/ Chicken - Before bringing to the table, a spoonful of coconut milk is added for flavor. The thickness & sweetness of the curry includes red and green bell peppers, fantastic when I am dumping spoonfuls on my steamed white rice. Notes on spicy levels - Levels 1-5 available. Having the 3 did not have too much spice while a level 4 is the right balance between hot and being able to enjoy the taste of food. The flashy dining area design in the Thai theme drew my attention with fast service from the staff. One drawback is portion size as I feel it's scaled back compared to other Thai places I have been to (roughly a 15% difference).

One of our favorite places to eat. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is great. Try the crab delight appetizer while you wait a few minutes for your food. They have Singha beer. Garlic delight excellent. Our new favorite dish is Mama Phad. Food spice rated 1 to 5. You will get what you ask for. Place is always busy. Good news Ayothaya fans-they have a second location on the corner of 176th and Canyon in the Safeway complex!

This place is super delicious. Some of the best Pad Thai around. If you order any of the lunch specials then you get your entree with rice and a big scoop of pad thai too!! The premeal soup is free and always hot and tasty. Service is always good, but not super friendly. The portion sizes are perfect, I am always satisfied.

Shrimp Pad Thai is great! Crappy service though. The waitress that served me literally tossed my plate towards me and walked off.

Fair warning for anyone with allergens! To start, this review is a week overdue as I'm finally recovering from what can only be described as gross negligence and poor food handling techniques carried out by the staff at this establishment. My husband and I dined in on Friday, 10/3/14. After reading reviews we decided on trying this place over visiting other Thai restaurants in the area that I have visited before. It was my husband's first experience at a Thai restaurant, and it was a terrible one. Upon walking in, it looks really nice and cozy. However, being our first time in, the lack of signage stating "wait to be seated" or "seat yourself" threw me off. Having servers yell across the room where you can be seated was tacky and later just added to the overall disappointment. We take our seat, get glasses of water poured and menus tossed on the table and then it's almost 10 minutes before our "server" finally comes over to take our orders. We wanted to start with appetizers and chose the crab delight (the ratio of cream cheese to crab was disgusting) and then our server takes off without even asking us if we'd like anything to drink besides the water. Before continuing, I will say I DO have food allergies and I'm extremely vigilant and aware of these allergies. Knowing that certain Thai dishes contain extreme allergens, I'm fairly well versed on what I can eat on the menu and rarely deviate from this no matter where I eat. That being said, after stopping another server to order drinks, the cream cheese filled crab delights make their way to our table and we order our dinner. I ordered the Tom Kah Gai soup. For those that aren't familiar with it, standard recipes include the following ingredients: chicken stock kaffir lime leaves Thai chiles garlic fresh ginger lemongrass cooked chicken coconut milk mushrooms Thai fish sauce sugar limes salt ground black pepper fresh cilantro leaves The food arrives fairly quickly and as I begin to eat it, I can't help being distracted by how much cilantro is doused throughout the bowl. As a result, I spend several minutes combing through my soup taking it out because I don't particularly care for it. I finally enjoy some of it with the rice I ordered on the side for it, but the overall mood is ruined at this point and my husband is ready to go. Here's where things go from bad to worse. We ask for to go boxes and instead our plate and bowl is taken from us to be boxed. Thinking nothing of it, we pay and leave overall disappointed and vowing to not waste a trip from Steilacoom out to Puyallup for this place ever again. Flash forward to the following afternoon, I go to heat up my soup and begin eating it. I pass over what I think is a ginger root, standard listed ingredient, and eat it with a spoonful of rice. I take a few more bites and pass over a CASHEW, at which point my throat begins to feel like wool is itching the back of it. Being severely allergic to cashews, I waste no time in going to the hospital. As my husband is driving, I call and ask to speak to the owner or manager. I tell the woman what I found in the to go container and the end result being that I'm now going to the emergency room. She fully acknowledged and stated that this was an error on the restaurant's part and that nowhere in the ingredients is there any cashews for this dish. I appreciate the acknowledgement, sincerely, but acknowledging your restaurant screwed up and nearly cost me my life won't pay the ER bill or for the medication I had to take after the fact because of the severity of the reaction. I'm not saying that this is how this business always operates, but clearly they dropped the ball majorly and I will NEVER visit them again as a result.

Love this place my favorite Thai food on South Hill. I'm so happy they're building a second restaurant out by Frederickson and now I'll be able to go there at lunch too. Service is always fast, food is always hot and your glass of water is never empty.

This is by far my favorite place to eat. The food is always delicious and the service exceptional. It's a small place so be ready for a wait on a date night... Or walk in during lunch. Try the cashew chicken or any of the curries. I can't wait for their new location to open on 176th!

BEST Thai Food around! I highly, highly recommend the Crab Delight, they are amazing. I've had crab wontons at other places but it always tastes too "fishy" and I don't like it. But the Crab Delight here is so, so good. I also love the Cashew Chicken and the Chicken Satay...make sure you order extra peanut sauce! Also, try the Tom Kah soup! It's a coconut chicken soup that is perfect for a cold day. One of my favorites!

I've been here many times and normally love it... Today, I placed an order for pickup. When I went to pickup, the lady at the desk hardly even acknowledged me. It was extremely rude. I normally leave a tip but she didn't even look me in the eye... ugh. pad thai was pretty good, as usual. I tried the chicken satay, which was almost inedible (rubbery) with sauce that was like peanut butter.... not appetizing at all.

Best Thai restaurant around... Excellent quality of food with fast, friendly service. Definitely give them a try. Rama Noodle with chicken is my goto with Crab Wontons to start.

We came for dinner after reading couple reviews on yelp and it sure did not disappoint us. It's a pretty small but fancy place and easy to miss if you are coming from a long day's hike from Mt.Rainier side and heading back into Seattle. Having had Thai food for a while now, I had a pre-conceived notion of how Thai food should taste and their dishes did meet my expectations. We ordered Veggie rolls and Tom yum soup for starters, which Tasted ok and for main course we had Basil Fried rice, Pad kee Mao and Pad See Yew and it was delicious, large portions, presentation was good and very clean, non-greasy food. Their service is fast and they patiently listen to all the requests you make to any changes in their menu.

Always great food and service. I had the Golden Noodle and my husband had the Chicken Broccoli on the lunch menu. Chef spiced it exactly as ordered. We will be back!

We just tried this place for dinner the other night and loved it. Probably the best sweet and sour chicken I have ever had. The staff is friendly and fast, the restaurant is small, but clean. I just wish the portions were bigger. Will be going back here in the future.

  • Michael B.

Tasty Thai dinner with work colleagues. Appetizers of fresh spring rolls. I would have preferred peanut sauce, but the fish sauce with chopped peanuts. The fried garlic beef was very good, but was very mild. I expected more heat for a 2 of 4 spicy dish. So if you like the heat, I suggest going with at least a 3 of 4. All the dishes were good. Will definitely be back if I find myself in Puyallup again.

Great service and the food is delicious. My favorite is the chicken pad thai, basil chicken, and the fresh springrolls!!

The Lemongrass Chicken tasted great. Though I think it could have used a little more vegetables. Thai fried rice with chicken was great and Pot Stickers a 10! The Thai Iced Tea is something I haven't had in awhile, nice! Seating was fast, waitress was fast and yes the cook was fast too. Mild spice and the food is served hot!

Clean place, quick service, and amazing Thai food! Probably the best around, unless you want to drive to Seattle.

One of the most authentic Thai places in the area. Crab fried rice is excellent. One tip if you are getting takeout: ask them to line the food containers with foil or else the hot food will melt the styrofoam and make the food taste bad.

  • Danielle G.

We have ate here a few times because it's close to our house. The Pad Thai was kind of bland even though I ordered spicy. The fried rice was good and the crab delight was to die for. I'm still on the lookout for the right place!

Really damn good! My wife is not a fan of curry and thai food but she loves this place. We've tried the other Thai places in Tacoma area but this is one is top notch. We eat three signature meals ALWAYS which we highly recommend and they are: Tom Yum Soup---I so love it and I've taste this before in Thai restaurants in L.A. This one is equally as good and well prepared. Not too strong and the right amount of seafood to add taste of it. Thumbs up! Sen Mee---the best dish in our opinion. If you are noodle lover this is the dish. The curry is slightly flavored to give it that amazing taste and the cabbage ends up complimenting the dish. Phenomenal dish. Sunny Delight---amazing dish with the right flavor and just nice to chow down. Cooked and seasoned very well. Small place but the customer service is really good and really artsy within. Also Thai beer is pretty good. Thumbs up!

What a hidden gem! This place is very tiny so there is usually a wait, but the food is the best Thai food I have had in this area. The portions are large and they also serve brown rice! Great restaurant, awesome prices!

Just moved to Puyallup from Seattle and this is only the second local place I've tried - and boy does it make leaving the big city go down smoother. Boyfriend and I checked it out on Friday. We were seated right away by a friendly staff and I, as a vegetarian who is normally confined to pad thai unless I know whether or not fish/oyster sauce is used in Thai curries (which it usually is), was impressed to see the note at the top of the page saying they could make anything vegetarian. Hooray!! I ordered...a dish whose name I can't remember, but it was like the wide noodles in red curry. "Vegetarian," I requested. "No oyster sauce in curry?" the waitress asked. No, I confirmed. No oyster sauce. She nodded. Hooray again! My boyfriend ordered massaman curry. We both ordered diet cokes. Total bill? $22. So cheap! The portions weren't giant the way most Thai places are, which was nice. Plus the food came in a snap. I think it was less than 10 minutes between when we ordered and when the food came. I was impressed. The food itself was absolutely delicious. I wouldn't say it goes above and beyond other good Thai food you can get around the region, but with all the other perks I've listed (fast, cheap, vegetarian), this is pretty much my new favorite Thai place in the Puget Sound. All in all I'm glad to have this place in the new neighborhood and am excited to go back and try all the other curries, vegetarian style of course :)

BEST THAI FOOD IN PUYALLUP! The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew is OUTSTANDING! The soup they give you at lunch time is so yummy too! The service is FAST and outstanding! I have ate here twice now and got carry out twice as well! Each time as good as the last! I would really miss this place if I moved!

You know, this place was okay. My wife and I are used to eating at Bangkok Thai just up the street from this place and so we thought we would try a new Thai restaurant. I figured I would try the Chicken Phad Thai for consistency purposes on my review. I went with my typical 4* spicyness rating. What I found was just okay. The Phad Thai didn't have all that much sauce on it so it made it kind of bland. The spring rolls we ordered were much smaller than what we typically get at the other restaurant as well so that was a little disappointing. All in all, it definitely wasn't bad...it just wasn't great. We'll visit again and I'll update my review if things change.

I've been meaning to do a review on this place for a long time. This is the best Thai in Puyallup. And probably my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Lunch special is where its at. You order a lunch special meal and it comes with veggies and phad thai. I love having phad thai with my meal, instead of ordering it separately. They have a large selection to chose from. Anything and everything you've ever wanted from a Thai restaurant. Love it. Dinners a little more expensive (but thats pretty much the case for any place). So if your in Puyallup WA, or its surrounding areas you have to try this place.

Hands down my favorite Thai resturant in the state. Everything I've tried on the menu is outstanding (holy basil, swimming rama, wonton soup, basil fried rice, and of course pad thai). The service is excellent as well. The ladies who work @ Ayothaya are extremely friendly. If you like 5 stars, I reccomend that you ask for their spices. Their "stars" happen to be on the safe side. Give Ayothaya a shot, you won't regret it!

I was introduced to this place 7years ago. My boyfriend took me here for our very first Valentine. The crab fried rice is to die for! It's amazingly delicious with the soft hint of lime but with HUGE chunks of crab. The salad.. Yum Goong... Is so savory.. it is really addictive. The soft crunch of the cashews. Gives it the punch it needs. The five flavor trout comes out in a hot sizzling iron skillet with refreshing taste of sauteed bell peppers and sweet sauce. This place is amazing... I'm not done! The Thai ice tea is so warm and cold and refreshing when you have all these flavors hitting you say once.. we still go to this place 2-3times every 6months or more... I can't even ask for a better Thai food than this place. It's worth while! Worth your money and time!!!!!.

  • H. K.

I have been going here for years and haven't had a bad experience yet. Because we live in the area, we never eat inside the restaurant, just order out and take home. The food is always piping hot, delicious, and extremely fast ("10 minutes? Ok, see you then honey!") The girls that work there always remember our order and we've requested dishes off the menu. They are always polite and friendly, but not overtly chatty. Their peanut sauce is the absolute best I have ever had and I've eaten at A LOT of Thai restaurants (and from Thai family members.) Try the Ayothaya Fried Brown Rice, Sen Yai, and spring rolls with the peanut sauce. Delicious! Now the only drawback would be the level of heat doesn't seem to be consistent. I can ask for not spicy and someone else request 3-stars, and it all has the same level of heat.

Have been coming here for years and they have never disappointed. They treat my kids like royalty. I call them our Thai grandmas. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Everything on the menu is delicious.

  • Brianna K.

The staff may not be chatty but they are very polite. The owner is always there when I go and she smiles, remembers my meat choice, tofu, and favorite drink. They were always quick to refill my water and I have never had a bad experience. Whenever I order takeout there, they are quick to get my order ready and always super nice about giving me a drink while I waited. Oh, and their Thai Iced Tea is amazing. (P.S. they sell a huge bag of the tea leaves for $2 if you ask)

Best Thai food in Puyallup. We ordered the Thai Basil with Beef and Pad See Ew with Chicken at only 2 stars and there was plenty of flavors and heat. Love that the food isn't bland. Love the large Thai Ice Tea that we ordered also. Good comfort food for the dreary winter months. Will definitely be back.

I would like to add to the list of glowing reviews for this place. Every dish that I have ever had here has been delicious. I have tried at least 10 menu items over the year or so that I've been going here. The service is quick, the ladies that work here are effiecient and courteous and you can see into the kitchen when at the counter, that it is clean and sanitary. A huge plus for a thai restaurant. You can order anything on the menu (which is ample) and know you won't be disappointed. The best thai restaurant in the area that I know of.

Some of the best Thai anywhere! Seriously, I bring out-of-town guests here all the time and everyone echoes this sentiment!! Why have I not reviewed them before, I don't know! Considering Puyallup is NOT a great place for restaurant options of any sort, it's even more amazing how great this place is! As the lone vegan in my family, and in my circle of friends, I tend to remember places that offer knowledgeable service and several options. Ayothaya impressed me the very first time I went in, many years ago with staff who knew what the word meant, and which dishes were really and completely vegan (no shrimp paste hiding in the curry, etc) and they continue to impress me with every visit. I may not come in for five or six months but they remember me, my children's names and what sort of soda they're going to order. They remember I'm vegan and don't want anything with meat or hidden fish bits. And they check and double check to make sure they have it RIGHT!! The service is excellent, the food is excellent, the spices are just PERFECT. Seriously, what more could you ask for? There's a reason I head here with almost every out-of-town guest I'm stuck feeding in the wasteland of South Hill. If I were to recommend a particular dish, it would be the fresh spring rolls with tofu, and the Sen Mei noodles with tofu (and skip the egg). I do recommend, if you're a tofu fan, to ask for the tofu to be fried instead of plain, otherwise it can seem to be pretty big, bland chunks, but it's still very good and quite fresh, no "off" or "stale" flavors as can infuse some restaurant's tofu. I really don't come here for tofu though, (true story, vegans eat more than tofu!) I come here for the whole experience.

A solid 2 star experience... First, we checked out the website and we were really psyched to see what looked like really low prices. When we got there, however, all of the prices were somewhat higher than listed on the web. Not a gigantic deal, but at the same time, the low prices were part of what got us to come in in the first place, so it was actually disappointing. (note to business owners -- if you're going to have a website, keep it updated or don't bother with it, please!) I think I had the Jr version of what Chrissy H. experienced service-wise; it was a tense, abrupt sort of thing the whole time through. Plates were brusquely placed on the table with the server even just pushing stuff out of the way with the plate she had in her hand. The oddest experience was waiting for more water only to have the waitress get to our table and start tilting the pitcher before pulling up and disappearing back into the kitchen for 3-5 minutes. I think she answered the phone, but really, pouring us water would have taken 15 seconds, max. The food was okay -- my curry had its vegetables under cooked and my wife's noodle dish was over-cooked. It was still pretty tasty, not counting those issues. The highlight had to be the fresh rolls -- they were good and somewhat unique compared to others we've had inasmuch as they were cold but the tofu in them was nicely warm, setting up a great contrasting experience. In the end, I might go back if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

had a major craving for Thai food.. and found this place on yelp! all the reviews were so good..this would be a 3 1/2 star for me. we called in for take out and order a green curry, phad kee mao and papaya salad. the curry was the most disappointing dish. it was too sweet for my taste. and the curry was not filled with goodies. 3 pieces of eggplant really!! and it was only fill half way up the take out container. FAIL!! as for the phad kee mao it was pretty good, we both enjoyed it. the papaya salad was delicious! i would go back to try other things but not the curry. I'm also gonna try chili Thai and Bangkok Thai and see what the results are!

  • Bruce M.

I would have to say this is the best spot in Puyallup and that is why it gets 5 stars. I love tha fact that the lunch specials come with Phad thai along with a main course such as Sweet n Sour chicken or Broccoli Beef. The staff is quick and always says hello and goodbye. I never tried the Curry but everything is great that.

We were disappointed. The portions were small, the service a bit gruff (efficient, but gruff), and the food mediocre. Maybe we've been spoiled by the many other great Thai places in our lives.

  • Kristann M.

We've been dining here for six years, ever since we moved to the area from the east coast. The food is delicious and the service is great. We are regulars, and it is SO cool when we arrive that the wait staff know what we like to drink and offer to bring it to us right away. Their chicken satay is moist and very flavorful -- the peanut sauce is fantastic. Their shrimp chips are addictive, I could eat those all day. I like their noodle dishes and DH likes their curries. They will happily customize any dish for you (like not include broccoli, which I don't like). The restaurant is on the small side and it's tucked into a little strip mall off Meridian, and the ambience is the only thing that keeps the stars down (though they have tried ... they have a cool fish tank by the entrance, and some Thai art on the walls). I don't like the new tv they've installed near the kitchen, though (too distracting). The prices are good for the quality and portion size. This is one of our favorite Friday night dinner places, when we are tired and don't want to go to Seattle or Tacoma to eat.

I love this Thai restaurant, I can call in my order to go and they recognize my voice and know exactly what I want to order. They are kind and always curtious. I have a few Thai favorites but this is by far one of the best in Puyallup.

  • Ingo R.

I agree with a lot on the reviews here, mostly the bad parts. The service was rather cold and quick (not rude), the interior is kind of cute, the prices ok, but ..... the food is really not good. We had ordered 3 different curries with different "heatnesses" and 2 fried rice. The curries were all not spicy whatsovever, the veggies in them undercooked, the curries themselves very watery and just not good. The musaman curry had a different recipe with pineapples and nuts (?????) that were not mentioned on the menu. A girl had ordered hot water and got hot tea, the food was also not warm enough. Again, this is not even close to good Thai food and a joke.

This is the best Thai in Puyallup! If you want great and distinc flavor, give this place a try! If you like noodle dishes, try the Golden Noodles or Phad See Yew. If you want to try a seafood dish their 3 flavored trout is awesome. For appetizer no one beats their crab delight! The owners are very friendly and the service has always been great!

I'm in town for the night on business and ordered take-out. I ordered the Crab Delight (Crab Ragoon) and Prik King w/ Chicken. Everything was delicious! The Crab Delight is so fresh and a very large portion. The Prik King was loaded with Chicken and fresh green beans. Both had wonderful flavor and the prices are so cheap. I will definitely order from here again next time I am in town.

We went here after a trip in Tacoma back home because we were starved. It had good reviews on yelp so we thought we'd try it. My husband and I eat alot of Thai food and so we are always trying new resturants. I had the Panang Curry, not only was the portion TINY but it didnt have any flavor either. I asked for 4 stars and it started like negative 4 stars!! My husband had the pad thai and it was also very flavorless. The service was fine. But i think the food is overpriced for the small portions. We will stick to good thai in Bellevue and Snoqualmie.

This is a Thai restaurant that I use to frequent quite a bit when I worked in the South Hill area. The Sen Mee curry noodle dish is great as are the other traditional noodle dishes. The service is very good, fast, friendly and provides a kickback atmosphere. Next time you happen to be in the area, this is a place you definitely need to try for yourself!

My boyfriend and I love this place! We found it when I was pregnant, and we still go there at least twice a month since. Our son is two now, and he loves the noodles. The service is friendly, personal and perfect! We recommend this place to everyone we know. We recently moved back to Puyallup from Auburn, and it was the first place we went to eat. You can also do take out if you want to eat at home, we love that with our two year old!

We ordered the Crab Delight as an appetizer, however there was very little crab in the wontons. The main meal was ok, however the service was TERRIBLE. The waitress was beyond rude. She was practically tossing the plates on the table and was snappy to down right rude when we asked for a box. Most of meal was uncomfortable but by the time we left we were simply angry.

The BEST Thai on the hill. Their curry is some of the best I've tasted. It's located in a bit of a funky location right off of Meridian but the prices and service match the food-excellent. It's a small restaurant so get here early or on the off days (not Fri or Sat night). Enjoy!

This is not the best Thai in Puyallup, not even close. I'd go so far as to say it's the worst, and I've tried Noodle Corner, Chili Thai, Jasmine Thai, Bangkok Thai, and another who's name I forgot (Chili Thai is by far the best). The service is mixed at best--the first time I was there it was awful, the second (and last) was mediocre. Food is nothing special, and every dish my family's gotten there had the same level of spice, practically none, despite requests of all varying levels of heat. Head to Chili, Bangkok, or Jasmine Thai--all within 5 minutes--for a much better experience.

Best Thai in Puyallup. It's a very laid back atmostphere and if your eyes are not conducive to being in a gold environment, than you might want to opt out. The dishes are good, but not amazing. BUT - it's the best in Puyallup. Kind of small, but not bad on the weekends. You may want to show up early to put your name on the list.
