We had fun! Pros: lots to do. My 18 month old loved the kitchen, cozy coupe cars and magnet wall. My 4.5 old boy loved all the costumes and fire truck/play fire house and ball pit. Good options for snack not to pricey. Cons: $16 for my two is steep for us. We came from Kirkland and there are three different indoor play areas that have $5 toddler times so I paid the extra six dollars just to try this place out. Also there was a preschool class and then later a daycare class. These kids weren't extra crazy or wild but there's less supervision when you have 8 kids/2 adults. We were visiting from out of town we live in Gig Harbor and visiting Kirkland so probably wouldn't come often but it was a fun place.

I'd give this place 5 stars if the toys weren't so run down and ragged; some of them need to be replaced since we first starting going in 2013. Otherwise, I thinks it's a great place. The price has increased, but that's fair since the price of living has gone up too. I like that they serve coffee, a mommy's must have! And they have quite the array of toddler/baby snacks along with salads and paninis. I'd like to address a complaint that many yelpers stated in their review. It is regarding not being able to bring outside food. While it can be an inconvenience and expensive, it is what it is. This place is a food establishment! As a mother who has a child with food allergies, I can appreciate this. You really do not understand the seriousness unless you have a child that could pot ethically be exposed to an allergenic food and cause anaphylaxis. So, imagine your child being allergic to let's say nuts. Even the slightest dust of nuts can cause death and or serious injury to you child. Please be respectful of the rules and be considerate as to why those rules are in place.

Had a great time today with our 4 year old and 1 year old boys. The play space was clean and full of fun things for toddler/preschoolers to do. My sons especially loved the fire station area and the cars/road area. The people working here are very friendly. After letting the kids play for awhile we decided to order some food. Lots of choices on the menu. The chicken fingers with Apple sauce was eaten up by both kids. I have to say that my husband and I absolutely loved the vegan cranberry quinoa cookie. It was so good that I want to go back just for some more cookies!! Thanks for the fun kid play area. My kids loved it. Wish we had more places like this in California. We will be sure to come back on future WA visits. :)

Love this place so much I've been a volunteer for over a year! Liz is great, Rena is wonderful and the best mocha is made by Molly (the others also serve great drinks). My daughter loves the grilled cheese and froggy cookies!

I have a 3 year old and a baby, and Playdate is high on my go-to list. Lovely to get a latte and watch my preschooler run around and play in a fun, creative space. We had a great experience throwing a birthday party here too.

I used to take my daughter here all the time, I thought it was great at first. You quickly realize how bad this place can be though. What really triggered this review was how condescending the owner was when I talked to her, I got nothing but attitude just for asking a simple question. There are lots of toys that are all falling apart. A lot of the toys are in poor condition, the cars are broken the kitchen is broken etc. There is a bouncy house that my daughter absolutely loves, but there are also parents who don't monitor their older children and they act out of control. It would be nice if the staff kept an eye on it, but they don't. The baked goods in the cold case are absolutely disgusting! The kids meals are decent tasting (Wayyyy to overpriced though). The staff is friendly (except the owner), the woman that works at the front desk is always very sweet.

I'm a picky person. I'm not easily impressed and very critical (don't worry I'm taking the time to work on my pessimism.) With all that said, the vibe at this place is right on. The open space is perfect to keep an eye on your kids at all times. There are changing tables, plenty of high chairs and the food is actually tasty and delicious. This place is NOT affiliated with play date in Seattle and that's too bad for the Seattle play date because play happy is better, and I used to go there for a full year while we lived downtown... This place isn't dark in random corners. There's light everywhere. There's plenty of seating for kids, parents, babies, grandmas... The staff is friendly and super nice. They don't allow outside food, but actually offer delicious and healthy options that are also allergy friendly and not complete crap. I can't put my finger on why this place is so special and magical... But it is. The only downside? My oldest is 6, and won't be able to come anymore when he's 7 :(

I love this place. Love it. It has a really fun, self-contained space for play, with a separate baby/pre-walker space in the very center. I sit in the middle with the baby while my preschooler runs around me doing all the things he loves to do. When he wants to show me something or needs some help, I just step out of the baby area and I can be with him. We had my son's birthday party here, and it was awesome. Everybody got to play, we had private space for lunch and cake, and the adults and kids all had a great time. We took them up on the option to provide a little personalized felt crown with my son's name on it and it was adorable. Activities: compared to other places, I think this place has more variety. There is a little bouncy house, a ball pit, a train table, and little bikes. My son can play here for hours. Cleanliness: They have plenty of clean high chairs and changing tables. The bathrooms look great. The tables are clean. Food: The coffee and food are the best of any of the play/eat places I've been to. The service is fast.

This place is amazing!!!! Love how secure it is for kids, friendly staff, reasonable prices and a wonderful environment . My kids love it there and always beg to go. The owner is such a sweet lady and always has a smile on her face as does most of her staff. They are professional and make coming here a relaxing experience. Can not say enough good stuff about this place!!!!

We heard about the Playdate Cafe from a friend with little ones too, and we were excited to give it a shot. We finally made it in on a weekend day close to opening time and it was so packed with children playing already! I'm guessing that weekends are busy, but I didn't expect it to be *this* busy in there... It really was kind of off-putting especially because there is an additional fee for your child to play here each time you come. Even though ALL of the bins were full with jackets and bags, there were more people coming to the cafe to play and bags/items had to be stored out in the open more. It would probably be nice to have a limit to the number of children in the play area, but I can see from a business standpoint that it doesn't really matter all that much -- they have our money, we signed a waiver, done. I saw a child get knocked over by a play car (luckily a resilient child) with no guardian in sight, more children bumping into one another, larger children knocking over littler ones (but at least the one who pushed a cart into my child apologized)...it just seems that there needs to be some adjustment in the number of children allowed in the area, or some better way to divide the activities so it's safer for all of the children. On the positive side, there are a lot of activities offered here. A kitchen area, library, puzzle table, large cars, toy cars, a slide, bounce house, ball pit, and more! It has a TON of potential to be something great! I'm just worried with increasing popularity, it may get less and less safe over time....I sincerely hope not though. I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. The fruit side they offer for children isn't prepackaged with tons of sugary syrup, but it's real fruit and it seems fresh too! My child definitely enjoyed it. The caprese sandwich I had was large and filling and full of flavor. My husband enjoyed his meaty salad too. Yes, the food was a little more on the pricey side, but perhaps just coming in for a kid snack and play time it would be more economical than a meal for everyone. There are also organic options for items as well as baked goods and coffee. I'd be willing to go back at an off time...or when my little one is a little larger perhaps. I probably wouldn't go back on a weekend right at opening though unless I hear that the day I was there was a huge fluke with how busy it was.

Brought my little one here today. She had a great time playing and I enjoyed relaxing and watching. I'm happy there was a place to take my child so she could have some fun, especially when it's raining. It was organized, clean, well thought out, and the employees were very pleasant.

We take my daughter here for dance class and let her play afterwards. She loves it. It's her favorite place and she talks about it constantly when we're not there. It's great other than the fact that my child gets a horrible cold EVERY SINGLE TIME we go. I understand that when children are in contact with other kids that colds are inevitable but it probably shouldn't happen every time. I wish they would be a bit more strict about not letting sick kids in or maybe be a little more on top of sanitizing the toys they have available for the kids to play with.

This used to be my favorite place to bring my son, I've been procrastinating on a review because of the owner's condescending replies. Pros: kiddo can run around for about an hour (my boy gets bored here pretty fast). Cons: Price has gone up to $10 which is ridiculous for an hour of play, there are so many more options like the rec centers which have indoor playgrounds for $2 for unlimited time. Also for $10 you can go to a Children's Museum and spend a whole day, including the Playdate place in downtown, which is a great place to go. The toys are pathetic, the kitchen used to have Expresso Machine, toaster, and a bunch of cool little stuff. The cars don't have wheels and doors. Those cars are $30 each, I'm sure it's not a fortune to buy new ones. The train tracks look pretty sad as well, my kiddo has more trains home then here. There are signs everywhere: Don't do this! Don't do that! Common sense stuff that don't need to be written on all the walls! It gets really obnoxious and obviously micro-managed. When it says that you can relax on a couch it means that a bunch of people don't supervise their kids and your kid gets pushed around and bullied. Watch your kid people! I've watched a mom let her girl in the play area and go behind the stand and play on her iPad while her kid was screaming bloody murder climbing on walls and the gate, while she was laughing with the baristas and let her kid scream for litteraly 30 min. Everyone was watching and the management did nothing. had a headache for a whole day! Also the toys don't get sanitized, Each time we go there we get sick, we visit so many more places, but this place is a Germ Fest. When this place gets vacuumed it's a celebration and they post pictures on Facebook. And at last: the business hours are ridiculous. While the owner complains on Facebook about the rent, they are open for only few hours a day, why pay rent for a place and have it closed most of the time? While I complained about this before and I got a response that ppl should sign up who wants to come in the evenings, WHAT? Seriously? I'm really disappointed of what this place has become, I hope I don't get a condescending reply as long as a novel.

I brought my 15 month old here yesterday and he loved it. He wasn't a fan of the "baby area" but loved to be walking around with the big kids. His favorite part was the ball pit. It was busy, but not tooooo busy since it was a weekday. My son loved the fruit bowl, other than that I wasn't a huge fan of the food. It was ok but I just didn't see anything that I wanted to eat on the menu. I ended up with a ham and cheese sandwich, which wasn't bad...just not something that I would go back for. Overall it was a good experience and I will be going back again!

We love this place! Staff is incredibly nice. My kid loves the play area. The food and coffee have been good every time we've been in. As a working mom I just wish they were open later on weekdays or on Sundays. We would come in so much more often.

Playdate is our preferred place to play! It's clean, spacious, and there's tons of stuff to do for kids of all ages. My 14 month old has a fabulous time and I don't feel like I have to constantly worry about her being trampled by the older kids. The coffee and snacks are tasty!

Decent option for rainy days. Pros: -clean. It's clean. It seems clean!!! All parents like that. -food and drink. Not super cheap, but good to have available. -nice bathrooms. Also clean. -well thought out areas for all ages from prewalkers on up. Cons: -pricey. $16 for my twins. This would mean I wouldn't come hardly ever. Competitors have options for early morning that are $5 per child just miles away. If you went even 2x a week you've spent almost $40. -couches are relaxing but since you need to really watch your kids... There isn't much relaxing. Esp if you have a few kids to watch. -they run a preschool of some kind as well and on the day I visited the entire class was let into the play area. The kids were high string and had no regard for the toddlers playing near them. I find it slightly annoying to pay almost $20 and then have the space filled with an entire classroom of older kids. -the fire station. Complete hazard for littles with the open gap for sliding down the fire rail. Not sure why that was overlooked, my kids wanted to do the slide but at almost 2 they don't know not to walk off the platform. Which means I'm up there steering them away from a big fall. My experience was ok. I came because a friend invited me. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. The prices are steep. And it got really packed with kids between their school and people from the general public. Also... The couches are a lie. Unless you have a tiny baby or one child... I don't think you'll be spending much time relaxing while your kids play.

Your guys hours suck.. sorry but seriously.. you guys are open from 9-4 on weekdays which is ooooookay but it be nice if it were open a little bit later BUT the worst is your weekends.. 10-2? seriously? 4 hours then closing time.. Place is fun dont get me wrong but your HOURS is a no go for most people with younger kids due to childrens nap times being around noon time then not enough time to go on our days off. At least Imagine in Everett is open until 5pm on weekends, time to go there.

Once again I am so impressed with how this place is run. One of the kids had an accident and the staff's response immediate and incredibly thorough. I certainly have no concerns about the cleanliness of this place. Thanks PlayHappy Cafe for instilling confidence in the minds of your customers!

This place is awesome!! The play area is super clean, full of fun toys and has tons of activity choices. The cafe area is also very clean and spacious with a lot of seating. The food is delicious! I crave their jalapeno bagel all the time! The food is reasonably priced as well. I usually feed myself and my 2 year old for $7 or so. My son has a blast playing, and can play happily for hours while I chat (of course keeping an eye on him at all times) Some of these negative reviews are silly and exaggerated. Lizz is doing an awesome job trying to make a fun, safe, clean place for kids to play. I think she's doing a 5 star job!

I met a friend here the other day for a play date. After watching a child vomit repeatedly in an upturned toy and continue sitting at a table for another 30ish minutes while multiple people complained to the owner and then having to ask AGAIN for things to be cleaned up and sanitized and then watching said upturned toy full of vomit being carried though the food/drink prep area and into the kitchen and then the owner acting like we were ridiculous for complaining, I would NEVER in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. This is in addition to a few other complaints I have along the lines of price and "policies" which don't even seem to be enforced beyond the cash register. It would have been nice to see the management react at all without having to be asked multiple times. I think if it were me in that poor mom's position, I would have appreciated the staff asking me what they could do to help. I'm just saying if you have a "house rule" about having to wear socks in the play area to keep it clean to the point that you force parents to purchase them upon check-in (oh, and when I commented that it would have been nice to know this before making the 30 minute drive to their facility, I was told that it is posted clearly on their website, Facebook, and all over the cafe... It's not. It was posted at the entrance to the play area, on the waiver you have to sign, and that's it. I just did a ctrl+F search for "sock" of every page on their website AND on their Facebook info page just to make sure I didn't miss anything and, of course, it is nowhere to be found. Despite the fact that she refunded me for a pair of socks she charged for ME as well as my child, I strongly resent being lied to and made to feel like I was at fault and then charged for it without even asking... had I not met a friend there that I hadn't seen in forever I would have walked out right then!) and then don't react promptly or efficiently to a vomiting child, it seems to me that priorities are a bit out of place. As my friend said, "I have to wonder what the health code would say about carrying an open container of vomit through a food prep area." It just left a really bad taste in my mouth (ugh, no pun intended there, I promise) about the way it was handled and then the owner's attitude afterwards when she came over to talk to us. In addition to that, I'm a bit frustrated that they claim to have gluten free and dairy free options (they have a few cookies and can give you soy or rice milk). You are not allowed to bring outside food in, totally understandable, and had I known what their "options" were, I would have definitely packed a snack for the car for when my kid got hungry (and she is allllllways hungry). However, I did not. I was limited to feeding my child apples for the time we were there as we are a gluten/dairy/soy/rice free family with allergies. I understand this allergy combo is not common, but it is common enough that at least one viable kid friendly gluten free vegan option would have been very welcome or at the very least maybe have an actual menu on their website instead of simply "Due to allergies, we strive to be peanut and tree nut free. We will also have some gluten free and non-dairy options." as this can be (and obviously was to me) very vague. On top of all of this, the owner is so very unprofessional and acts like she has a chip on her shoulder (don't believe me? go read some of her responses to the negative reviews on Yelp and Facebook). That alone makes me want to avoid this place like the plague. On the bright side, my kid really enjoyed the play area since it was so spread out and I do think they have some real potential if they would just work out their kinks and not be so snippy about it. However, we will definitely be sticking to Twirl Cafe in the future as it is a better fit for our family, closer, and (above all) top notch when it comes to children's cafes.

I want to give ZERO STARS based on the food policy and the owner....but, have to give one in order for this to post. I've been to this place a couple times....with older children. It's very pricy...but, we went to meet up with friends on a rainy day. I quickly learned to come during a time when I knew my kiddos wouldn't need to eat. You pay plenty just to get in...I wasn't paying for food too. The first time I went, I had intended feed the little ones their favorite snacks....we were told at the desk, we would have to go eat the food in our car before coming back in to play. I was not impressed...but, our play date palls were waiting...so we trudged back out (in the rain) to the car, to eat snack. When I got inside and told my friend about the policy...she was surprised and explained that she had brought food in her bag. BUT, when she went to get her bag from the storage bin....all her food had been removed....GONE. So, this time, I knew about the 'no outside food policy'....clearly, they are kinda nuts about it. I don't know of any other cafe that offers food and play, to have such a policy, and we go to lots of places in and around Seattle. Today I decided to give them one more chance. This time I had babies that I am caring for, so didn't think there would be a food issue. HA!!! WRONG!! I make homemade baby food. I had that with me for the babies to eat. Again, they went thru the whole song and dance at the front desk about food...."you're aware of our policy about food? You cannot bring in any outside food to eat." I said "except for baby food, right?" "Yes, baby food is ok as long as it's store bought in unopened packaging....is that what you have?" "No, I make their food." "You can't come in with that...someone could die...we could get sued....we have a very strict policy....bla bla bla...." Did I get irritated? Yup. Did I tell them I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard? Yup. Did I walk out stating I would never be back? Yup. Did I raise my voice? Nope...I had babies with me ;-) So, I take the babies back out to my car....only to be followed out by a woman, I assume the owner. She sticks a piece of paper in my face while I'm trying to load the babies back into my car....and is trying to explain the policy. I said I really didn't care....I won't be back. I don't need the paper. She keeps yapping and sticking the paper in my face! I took the paper...folded it....handed it back to her while continuing to say..."it's ok...it doesn't matter...I'll never be back!" She stood there....going on and on until I was finally loaded back into my car and could close my car door!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! Can you figure out....I will never ever go back. Never. It's up to you if you want to...but, beware the food nazi!!!!

Honestly, it's a cool place, but the price really knocks it down a couple stars for me. We're not going to be going again and again like some of our friends. Between our children's museum and zoo memberships, plus the oodles of toys we have at home and free play spaces in the area, it just doesn't make sense to spend money to go here regularly and it doesn't really offer that much more than what we already have access to.

This place is a lot of fun. It is a huge space with a ton of fun toys for the under-six set. The food is delicious, but service tends to be very slow. (Large space, small kitchen ='s back-up on food orders during busy times.) They do nut-free, plus gluten-free, vegetarian and organic options. If you have a well-behaved child, you can park yourself in front of your computer at the counter, which faces the toys. I wish the prices were more affordable. I would visit more often. I get it. It's a giant retail space in Lynnwood. So, she has high overhead. I still wish it wasn't so pricy. Also, I would love to see a multi-age option once a week or even just on school holidays. Perhaps limit the number of kids? It's tough when you one kid, who is under 6 and two, who aren't anymore. Still, over-all, I like this place a lot.

Love this place! My friends and I will meet up for a play date and end up spending all day there. The music is relaxing and enjoyable. The food is very fresh and kid friendly. I'm also very impressed by how clean and organized the place is! You feel comfortable knowing your children are in a safe clean environment. It may seem a bit pricy but you definitely get your money's worth. Wipes are even provided at the change stations!

We visited here today and had lunch and let my 15 month old play. He absolutely loved it! I also loved that he could run wild while I got to sit back and watch. The food was decent but didn't try the coffee. The place was kept very clean which is always a huge plus! I'll definitely be back!

I wish there was a Playdate Cafe in Bellevue! I love bringing my daughter to Playdate Cafe - she calls it "the butterfly store" because of the butterfly on the sign. The store is always clean, minus the usual disarray you will find in the play area. That said, Playdate has a group of volunteers who routinely tidy up the play area. Although my daughter is not an infant, I do appreciate the separated infant play area. There are a lot of different things for kids to do, from books and puzzles for the quiet types, to a bouncy house and slide for the boisterous kids. The restrooms are clean, and there are changing tables (yes, plural) near them - you don't have to drag everyone and everything in to a tight spot in a restroom stall. I understand the rules regarding outside food, (and cannot believe some people are so rude about it!) Rules are rules, and suggesting that they shouldn't apply to you and THEN getting mad when the owner makes a big deal about it is wrong. I've also never had the staff try to sell me a class or photography package. The play area, (in my experience,) tends to be a little more crowded in the mornings than the afternoons. I've found the staff to be friendly and professional at all of our thirty-plus visits. We are visiting a little less now that my daughter is getting older, but we've enjoyed our time there. I would recommend this to anyone with children. I also appreciate that the owner addresses the poor reviews on Yelp.

Loved this Play place, we will definitely be returning. The area was spacious and open and, even with a decent amount of children and parents, it didn't feel crowded. The staff was very friendly and they kept the areas clean throughout or four hours visiting today. We also had lunch and snacks here, which were very good. I love that there is healthy, kid-friend food, as well as yummy things for adults. Keep up the good work!

My son LOVES every moment he has spent at Playdate Cafe. I can honestly say that everyone I know feels the same way. I have referred tons of friends (and strangers too!) to PD Cafe! Not only is Playdate Cafe one of THE CLEANEST and safest places to go for children but the atmosphere is calm, enriching and just plain aesthetically pleasing. The food is great (they have professionally trained cooks!) and well priced for the quality. Most items are organic and definitely more nutritious then you would expect of a children friendly establishment. The coffee (Caffe Ladro) is awesome! I am a little bit of a coffee snob so this means a lot coming from me ;). The staff is friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The owner is also a huge part of the welcoming team and is always so happy and ready to help you and your kiddos have a great time! She is open to suggestions and seems very passionate about her business and the children involved. I love this place so much that we also participate in the preschool. The teachers have many enriching activities for our children. For part of the class they break the kids into two separate groups and give the pre-K kids (4+) an experience of their own. The owner researched preschools before starting this program. She even has her own kids in the program. Both of whom are very smiley and sweet to everyone that comes in! That means a lot that she has her own children in the preschool. I am wary about where I leave my son. I have felt very comfortable leaving him at the PD Cafe preschool. It's a loving, kind, educational environment. I can't rave enough about PD Cafe. It is so well-rounded and full of fun and excitement for the littles, while letting mom (or dad) have a little down time, drink some coffee and enjoy watching all of the kids socialize and partake in the fun that comes with being a child.

I really enjoy this place and am so happy to have found it. As parents, we all want a place to take our kids where they can have fun, be safe so that we can visit with OUR friends! Well this is the place for exactly that. Playdate café is reasonably priced at $8 bucks a kid, free for parents and although you can't bring your own food, snacks or beverages, their café has a huge selection of healthy, organic foods at a low price. I have nut allergies myself so I love that they are so careful about what comes in and out of their establishment. The play area itself is very large, has a wide variety of things for kids to do and even has a blow up bouncy house! The variety of activities and toys is great for young toddlers and there's even a safe area for crawling babies. My son absolutely loves when we come here and although it can get very packed and slightly chaotic, what isn't that way when kids are involved?!

Having a newborn, I'm becoming fairly new to visits that aren't only for myself, but now for my sweet girl. I have very good relationships with the owner, and her employees. Lizz has built such a wonderful business, and it's hard to find a place with so much time and love invested into it. Her staff is out of this world. The cafe manager has a nutrition degree and she incorporates her knowledge of healthy and nutritious foods into their wonderful menu! I, as an adult, would visit while I was pregnant just to indulge in all their delicious food! Other staff have culinary degrees, and put their heart into all the prepared food. Not only are there wonderful choices for all the kids, but if you're feeling hungry there are the more sophisticated and fabulous choices for the parents. All the food is so fresh, and you can really taste the difference in their quality ingredients. You'll be sure to always find something that will satisfy your cravings! Everyone is so kind and they want nothing more than to help customers enjoy their experience 110%. It's great to go somewhere when you're treated so well by everyone and you get to witness firsthand that all the staff loves their job. When you visit, it definitely won't break your bank because the prices are phenomenal. Being so affordable, it allows everyone the ability to visit when they can! The whole establishment is soo clean and well taken care of. There is hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE, just another extra step to keep everyone feeling well taken care of. The play area is well maintained and the cafe is always clean. I don't think I've ever sat down at a table with crumbs or dirty dishes on it. The employees all put a great deal of time into making sure everything stays clean, and presentable. I could go on forever because there truly are a million great things to say about Playdate Cafe! Thank goodness for Lizz and her amazing business! I can't wait until my daughter is able to come in with me and enjoy it just as much as I do!

An EXCELLENT place for a birthday party! We threw our son's first birthday party here and it was a huge success thanks to Lizz and her wonderful staff. There was lots of communication from when I booked it through the end of the party. The food was good and the room (Main Room South) was already set up and decorated when we arrived. All of the kids had so much fun that we ran out of time to open presents. It was pricey, but super fun - the two hours went by very fast. Next time I book a birthday party here, I'll add extra time to our package. I recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate a little kid's birthday or to just hang out for the afternoon. The non-walker area in the middle of the room was perfect for the youngest kids (7-12 months). We can't wait to return!

To say my daughter likes going to Playdate Cafe would be an understatement...she LOVES it. This is where childhood memories are made of. It started out that we came every once inawhile on weekends & then attended their summer camp which then turned into signing her up for pre-school..see the trend? We keep coming back..& for good reason..it's incredibly important for our kids to have a place they love to go to & where they meet up with their friends. It's a kid version of Cheers..everyone knows your name & it feels like family.

I really want to love this place, because the Lynnwood area is desperate for a great children's play center. That said, there is room for improvement. -I think the no outside food/drink rule is really silly, considering what you pay to get into the play area. I just don't like it from a customer service perspective. It seems kind of tacky. -I have been twice, and both times we visited, there were incidents with "accidents" in the play area. The first time (accident in the ball pit), I was assured it had never happened before. The second time, there was a wet spot on the carpet that really should have been labeled or marked off. Instead, I was told by another mother that there was a urine accident that was cleaned up but just left to dry without any indication to parents and kids to avoid it. -Maybe it's just because of said urine incidents, but I just don't feel like the stuff is all that clean. I compare it to a place like Gymboree, where they clean the equipment at the end of each day, and it doesn't really stack up. -People don't watch their kids, and as the parent of a young toddler, it's very annoying. Older kids especially, will grab toys, hit, yell, etc, with no parental monitoring whatsoever. I wish the staff would encourage/require supervision. -Limited hours. M-Th they close at 4, which seems like an odd time. Many toddlers are just waking up from their afternoon nap around 3, and school-aged children are only just out of school. I would be much more inclined to buy a multi-visit pass if they had more logical business hours. I will probably go back to this place when we are desperate for an indoor activity, but with a few improvements, I would be a very good customer.

Love this place! Finally a place where I can take both my toddler and preschooler without being scared one goes missing. The kids have a blast, I can relax and have fun with them, and the food options are great a quite reasonable prices

I usually don't write reviews unless I'm unhappy but I love this place! We've been coming here since my toddler (now 20 months) was just learning to crawl. The food is great, they have so many options for all ages to eat (including babies and grown-ups), and espresso. Some parents bring their laptops and work while seated toward the play area, if their kids are big enough. I'm still following my daughter around in the play area, and I get to watch the joy she gets at all the different things there are here to play with. They have a SUPER cool firetruck and slide, a bouncy house, a roller coaster car, a small ball pit, puzzle area, kitchen, dress-up, a book nook, cars and a car track, and even a small area for the babies/crawlers that is separated with a fence. The only downside is that this place is SO awesome that some days (especially rainy days and weekends) it gets very busy.

Wow, totally condescending response from the owner just bumped my rating down to 1 star. Won't be bringing my kids back here again.

I can't get enough of this place. My first visit was yesterday, and I've since spent 11 hours here. I have an eight month old daughter and she LOVED exploring and playing with the variety of toys, tunnels, trains, etc. they have in the play space. The whole facility is kid-friendly. Baby changing stations (thank you for having several!), faucet-covers that make it easy for kids to wash their hands, tons of high-chairs, tiny tables, baby gates galore, and yummy snacks for kids and parents make this place easy to hang out at for hours on end. I spent the day here with two mommy friends and our three babies and it was very relaxing and not too over stimulating for us. We will absolutely be back to relax and let our littles play all day. The owner is very pleasant to chat with and has great ideas and offers wonderful Birthday party options (and modern Etsy-style decor for them!) as well as dance and yoga classes, and perhaps even Spanish and Mandarin lessons, I believe. We are REALLY excited to have found this place while our daughter is still a baby. Go go go!!

This is a really cute spot that gets pretty busy. I showed up here about 12:30 with my crawler to meet a friend with her son and the place was packed with kids running all over. There's a little ball pit, a center fenced area for non-walkers, a track to push the little cars around. There's a slide that I also took my daughter down and she enjoyed it. The cafe was cute and there's a large area to sit and eat. This is a good place to let your kids explore. Some of the kids do get a bit rowdy and may run over smaller babies, but if you're watching your kid, it should be fine.

I love this place! I've been taking my son pretty consistently since we moved here in October 2013. It's always clean, the food is always good and my son finds a different thing to play with every time we go. They have a little bit of everything. Little ball pit, bouncy house, slide, trains, kitchen, books and puzzles. I'm so happy it's around!

Came for the bouncy house! Haven't been here in a while. I'm happy that my son is enjoying himself. He likes the bouncy house. It would be nice if they played age appropriate music. This is a place for kids to play, right?

I've actually been here a few times with ok experiences each time. This rating is an average of the 5+ times I've been here. The set up is much better than some other kid friendly cafés. I like that the play space is separated from the tables. There are plenty of toys/areas for the kids to play and a nicely separated space for smaller babies. I'm not a huge fan of the cost for kids being an "all day admission" since I rarely spend more than 90 minutes here. It would be nice to have maybe a half day price, but I understand that might be hard to keep track of. What motivated me to write this review today was actually the owner herself. I came in with my family, for my 3 year old to play. I had brought in a baggie with a closed banana and a baby food pouch for my 8 month old while her sister played. I was told there was a no outside snack policy because they were licensed as a restaurant. I had previously brought in this exact meal for my baby before and she was ok with it, so I showed her the foods to clarify, and she became immediately aggressive in her tone. I was told that they "didn't want to be liable if some parents brought in rotten apples that some kid got sick off of. (Is that really a concern? What parent feeds their kids rotten apples?). I was then told I could purchase a banana from their cafe. When I let he know I wasn't going to do that because I had a perfectly good one in my bag that I would feed her later, she then changed her reasoning to PHC being a business and they didn't appreciate people bringing outside food to a café. (Read: we need you to spend money here so you can't use your own things). As this continued on, I repeatedly stated that I didn't want to argue, I agreed to abide by her policy, I just wanted to let my daughter play. After anytime I told her I would follow her rules, she continued to berate me. I am still baffled at her treatment of a paying customer. I was finally allowed to pay for my daughter to play, although I'm pretty certain the owner came to check up on me to make sure I want opening my banana. (I wasn't.) Left with less than stellar impression of both the owner and her business practices. Not sure I'll return. ******** Edit to reply to the response from Lizz. Lizz, You are misunderstanding my review. I started to you a number of times that I would follow your policy and I asked more than once for you to not argue with me, bit you pressed on. It is for that reason that I wrote the review above.

I came to this place randomly by trying to figure out what to do with my son since its raining that day. This was the place to be for my son. He loved it and could spend the whole day here. A great place for infants (have their own section) and especially toddlers. What I found cool was the cafe area, a lot of great snacks for kids. I like the idea of the in and out privileges for the entire day. They have couches for adults and free wifi. Only thing I suggest for parents is watch your kids every once in a while (while on your phone or reading) so they are playing well with other children.

Came here today with my almost 1.5 yr old daughter and a friend with her 2 yr old daughter for the first time. I have to say I'm so happy to find a place like this that's not too far from our house! Such a great idea!! Love that the kids can play and the adults can have a coffee... The place was very clean and cute and the staff seemed very friendly. Lots of toys, books and cool things for the kids to do, like the bouncy house and ball pit. We got there pretty much as the doors were opening so it was relatively calm when we got there and it was nice for our girls to be able to check it all out before it got crowded. The only downside is that by the time we left at 11am it was getting so packed that our little ones were getting stepped on and kind of lost in the sea of bigger kids. So although I wish it wasn't so crowded & that we could have stayed longer, I'm actually super happy to see the place had so much business so the doors will stay open! Only other thing was at $9 for my 1.5 yr old "walker" to come in it will be too expensive to utilize when we couldn't really stay past 11am cause it was so busy. Wish it was a little cheaper or you could pay an hourly rate or a full day rate or something? Maybe a different price for smaller kids who clearly won't be there all day? I'm not sure, but either way I'm sure we will return as it was a clean and fun environment - just not as much as I'd like due to the entry price. Giving it 4 stars instead of 5 based on how expensive it is for entry.

I met up with some other girlfriends and their little ones this past Saturday and everyone had a wonderful time. It was pouring outside so I was expecting a packed house, which it was packed but not too crazy. I really loved the fact that other parents were actually supervising their kids, which is very rare these days. My daughter loved dressing up like a princess and met a new friend which was adorable to see. Since my husband stays home with my daughter fulltime we love to get her out frequently to socialize. We all ate lunch together which was nice that the kiddos could eat while we sipped on delicious coffee from Caffe Ladro. The food options are great, my daughter loved the bowl of fruit and a vegan mini donut. It was VERY hard to get my daughter to leave but a nice person from a birthday party gave us a balloon and that was distraction enough to run out the doors. :) We will be back soon!

My kids love it here. I know the prices do seem high, but compared to a children's museum it wins hands down. Not only do children's museums have exhibits extremely similar to what is in the PlayHappy Cafe but the PlayHappy Cafe is soo much more enjoyable as a parent. I was here with two little ones (one and three) and could see both of them from any one point anywhere I stood. It is laid out extremely well and you can tell a lot of thought went into the design. It is perfect. I wish you were able to buy a discount pass instead of a punch card though.

Our first experience here was wonderful we had a great time my son loved it. The woman even recognized me the second time coming in which I thought was great. But our second time was less than pleasant my son bit a child and as soon as he did I took him out for 10 minutes explaining to him why it was not okay and then once we were done I let him go back in the play area.I kept a much more close eye on him and as I saw him going to pull another child's hair I stopped him. Then I noticed a mom that was watching my son as well suddenly I saw her walk over to the lady that runs the area and explain to her what my son had done. We were asked to leave the play area because of repeated incidents with children. Then I thanked the woman that complained to management for ruining my sons day after I clearly disciplined him in the way I felt appropriate. Her friend sitting next to her a large woman maybe pregnant I don't informed her two-year-old had never bit. I don't know if she has any other children but I do. I'm fairly upset that the place is run by the mothers that helicopter their children in the area. A little known fact children bite push and do many other things especially at the age of two. If there is any possibility your child will ever do this do not go here because it is not tolerated at all. I don't know how to explain to my son that he can't go there again. And luckily I had the wonderful (the large woman with a perfect 2 year old) woman tell me I should take my two-year-old to counseling for doing a two-year-old thing. We won't be back and we won't recommend it to friends. I'm in tears. ***I want to be clear and fair for happy play*** about my review I haven't tried the food, prices are steep, but the are works for kids. My issue is in their procedure. There should be a warning like mam if it happens again we will have to ask you to leave. Instead the first time a worker approached me it was I am going I have to ask you to leave no explanation of what all had happened nothing! It isn't the right approach to a business especially if you want to work to solve problems and attempt to make all customers happy which most businesses attempt.

This was a fun spot but some improvements can be made. PRO'S: -Wonderful changing area! 3 tables, free wipes and table liners were all great amenities. -lots of toys and fun stuff - that exceeded my expectations. -Even just bringing "crawlers" here we still had lots of fun. -Great kid-friendly food options. CON'S: -They seemed understaffed with only two people. Might be time to add a third because they seem to be gaining popularity. -they do keep it pretty clean but the crawler area needed to be picked up a bit as well as the changing area. -steep admission prices. I don't know how often we will be back once my son starts walking because I think it jumps to $9! Overall, I think this concept is great but would be even better if they were to turn this into a sit-down type restaurant and offer free admission to the play area per meal purchased. It would be a lot more enticing for parents if it were a place where you could eat lunch and your kids could play for free but they may need a slightly larger space to accomplish this.

This place is great. All those people that give this place less than three stars or complain about prices, toy quality, etc., have an overblown sense of entitlement. It's a business folks. A small business. Not a non-profit. Not a franchise.

This review is LOOONG overdue! We had my sons 2nd birthday here back in April - and thank goodness, it was SUCH a rainy day that this place was perfect! I blindly booked here, having never visited it myself, my mom had gone in with my son and so I based my decision off of her review. Lizz gave me a discounted price for the party because I had booked early on in the opening stages before a price changed had happened, I was happy that she had honored this rate for me. I'm an emailer and that seemed to work just fine with Lizz. I usually heard back from her within 1-2 days and she was patient with me when I was being indecisive about what I wanted for the party. She was not pushy about the extra stuff that they offer, I would have loved to have spent more money and added stuff on, the honest to goodness truth was that I just couldn't afford it at the time. The actual day of the party we lucked out - no one else had booked a party during our time. That meant we had the entire facility to ourselves and this was such a treat! Since it was a bunch of two years olds, it was really nice to not have to worry about other older children who might push, shout, etc. If you can afford to spend the money to book this place to yourself, do it, it was wonderful. The staff who assisted with our setup/party were great - really great! They were helpful in putting gifts in certain areas, keeping us well stocked on dishes, water, etc. They were available, but again, not pushy. I have gone back now with my son on a separate visit to just play and enjoyed it. We went early in the morning near opening and found that this was a great time to visit. When we first arrived there weren't too many children and again I could rest easy knowing my son wouldn't get toppled on by an older kid. Final words: Great party space AND great play space! What's not to like?

Lot's of good things to say! *Clean, well-maintained play area *Love the toxin-free hand cleaner which is handily placed at both play area entrances *Best changing table station EVER! Lots of changing tables and they provide wipes :) Parents, please use the awesome area she provides...changing diapers in the play area is a big no no as stated in the rules. Liz just posted the rules in the play area which is a great reminder. *ORGANIC coffee! The coffee bean is one of the most highly sprayed crops so this is HUGE plus for me *Lots of cheap and organic (YAY!) kids snack options *Yummy salads *Liz, the owner, is very sweet and helpful *Cozy couches in the play area make it relaxing for parents to stay close and still relax *Cool bar which overlooks play area. Easy to work on a project (of you work on comp there are handy dandy outlets on bar) and still watch your kids. *They provide adorable socks if you run out of the house without any *LOVE their homemade mac and cheese. I order it for my daughter and then try to not eat it all. I'm sure I'll think of more things later but that's all for now :) I see many comments about parents not watching their kids. I haven't found this to be the case. In general, most parents seem quick to respond to any squabble or other issue. So I hope everyone keeps it up :) Most people follow the rules...and for newbies that try to get away with breaking them I think it's always ok for a regular to gently remind about the regulations. Again...glad they are now clearly posted in play area although they are widely available many other places. So go check it out!!!! AWESOME for the rainy days that are inevitably heading our way.

We had this comment posted from my wife's account but for some reason it wasn't displaying on the business page. Here it is again: Today (Saturday, 2/22/2014) was our second time here and we will not come back. Our comments are mostly about the ownership and not about the playground and staff. Owner of this place is a rude and very unwelcoming individual who does not care about anything other than making a quick buck. Understandable when you run a business but some customer service would be nice. We were told "no outside food, especially nuts" which we understood but didn't think that giving our two year old some cereal would cause a scene and ultimately drive us out the door. Owner was rude and very combative when she saw us giving our 2 year old daughter some cereal. She yelled saying "THIS IS MY HOUSE. I DON'T COME TO YOUR HOUSE SMOKING CIGARETTES!!!". When I told her we didn't smoke, trying to defuse the situation, she continued on stating how she could lose her business blah blah. How smart can somebody be to compare adult cigarette smoking to kids eating cereal? I don't know, but doubt it's somebody concerned about your child's wellbeing if cigarette analogy is the first one that comes to her mind. Health department could care less but that's the story she goes by, claiming it's for the safety of the kids. It's pretty simple, she made up that rule so that she could sell more of her "healthy" food, which is overpriced and mostly is purchased from other food suppliers and not really prepared by them as she claims. Bagels for example come from Blazing Bagels, and coffee is from Ladro. Both good companies but that's beside the point. What if I showed up there with a cup of Ladro's latte and bagel from Blazing Bagels and consumed it there? I guess those two items would be lot safer if I purchased them at the Playground Cafe. Give me a break. If I have my kid's b-day party here am I not allowed to bring my own cake? Oh, I'm pretty sure they'll make an exception if there was a party. I guess if we gave them $10 it would be o.k. to feed my 2 year old some cereal. Maybe for extra $5 I could give her one cracker? If owner truly cared about the safety she would implement some kind of crowd control. Place was packed with kids and parents and many kids were stomped on by each other. Nothing serious happened this time as all the parents keep a good eye on their kids but I'm sure if some fire code wasn't violated this time it soon will be. Crowd control could equal less money in owner's pocket, so I'm not surprised this hasn't been implemented yet. I'm sure it will be at some point, and yes I'm saying that with a little bit of sarcasm. So my advice is if you plan to have your child eat food you prepared for them don't plan on doing it there. You will be attacked by a very angry middle aged woman without any manners and class. When told "this is not a very nice way to run a business", she said "look around" implying "place is full", "I'm doing well". Pretty cocky and full of herself so she doesn't care about losing one customer, my 2 year old daughter. Well played, well played. I truly hope my commentary will drive many of the good folks out there away. Oh and by the way, food and coffee we ordered there we never got. Do you think we got our money back? You guessed right, no freaking way.

It can get spendy if you go often. My hubby and I spent almost $70 in one week. Just because its a great place to let a two year old run and drink some fancy coffee and eat some fancy hippie food. ( yes. Hippie food. But it's okay) I know people are really hung up in nutrition and no this or that for their kids but sometimes my kid is hungry and unless I want social services taking him away I will feed him whatever he wants. Because he's a skinny hyper toddler terrorist. We have lunch for him (chicken nuggets, crap, etc) before we go and daddy and I eat the fancy $6 sandwiches. I kinda wish they sold chips like sunchips or gasp omg soda for mommy. But I feel we're lucky enough to get meat and cheese there. I get it I do honestly. The food is good but going there is a "treat" and sometimes I want the option to be a disgusting gluten dairy meat high fructose corn syrup gluttonous 'Merican. I digress. The play area is fantastic. The staff is sweet. I've met the owner and she's very nice, smart, and works too hard. I was picking up some blocks that were spilled and she came over to help and cleaned up too so I know she cares about keeping it tidy and getting to know the customers. The rules and expectations are clearly outlined when you check in and are posted. The bathrooms are spotless they have an excellent changing area. My kid LOVES it there. Throws a fit every time we leave. And when we get in the car to anywhere he asks "go okay?" "Go bouncy house, play train?" It's worth the $8. As for the bad reviews: Some people need to chill out, relax, stop taking everything so seriously and let your kids be FREE. sit back drink your coffee and watch them learn independently and socialize. And for the love of god have a little empathy for the staff and owner. You know your kid and their needs imagine being told by dozens of parents everyday what YOU need to do to fulfill every kids needs. They're trying and doing a good job you don't pay the mortgage or salaries of their staff so don't be so audacious as to tell them how to run their business. Just my two cents because I see a lot of bogus reviews here. I'm sad we moved 3hrs away and wish we had a cafe here. Don't take it for granted. If I had the determination of character and money I'd start my own here in this town. For now ill just visit when I'm in lynnwood.

This place is heaven for parents and young children. Honestly, they've thought of everything. Aside from the sumptuous variety of activities for children, they have lots of changing tables with baby wipes, high chairs a-plenty, and a small café with excellent choices for young and old. Not junky food: stuff like peanut-yam soup with pita, tomato/kale soup, espresso drinks, smoothies, Caprese sandwiches. And that's just for the grownups. The facility is nut-free, so you can't bring in your own food. For the kids: a ball pit, slides, dress up clothes, books, puzzles, toy trains, push toys, a fire truck, wooden trains, little peekaboo houses, a bouncy house. There's a protected play area for infants, too. Really nicely designed and well-run.

I recently visited this place and it's AWESOME! Playdate Cafe was well thought out by Liz, the owner. Upon arriving for the first time, she was very friendly and gave us the guidelines and layout of the place. There are lots of activities to choose from in this colorful and clean space. Parents can join their kids in the play area (lots of comfy sitting areas) or they can sit at the bar and watch them while sipping Caffe Ladro coffee. Each area of the play space was designed beautifully and didn't feel cramped with children. Lot of activities such as bouncy house, small ball pit, fire station play area, train table, Lego blocks, reading area, kitchen play area, etc. This place has it all! Here are a few things to remember when you visit here: 1. Adults and children must wear socks in the play area. If you forget, it's just $1.50 per pair. They have both children and adult socks for sale so the adults don't feel left out. 2. Only water and formula are allowed inside this place but they have lots of healthy food and drinks that can be purchased and eaten at the separated cafe area. 3. Free Wifi. 4. On weekends, it's only open from 10 am - 2 pm. The rest of the day is reserved for parties. 5. Parents should supervise and play with their children; it's not a drop-in daycare. When I visited, there was one child who kept taking things away from smaller children and her mom was sitting at the bar on her phone the entire time. 6. Plan to spend at least 2 -3 hours here. Your kid will not want to leave this place. Keep them hydrated. Also, there's hand sanitizer near the entry door. 7. Adults and non-crawling babies are free. Yes! 8. It's $8 for the first child, but only $6 for a sibling. This price is for all day long and not by the hour :-). You can also opt for a play pass so you can save some $. 9. There's parking in the back of the building and on the street if the parking lot gets full. 10. And lastly if you're thinking this place is too far, it's worth the drive. I promise. I lied, one more thing. This place is for children from 0-6 years old. I brought my 5.5 year old and 2 year old. Initially, I thought this place might be a little too young for my 5.5 year old but he loved it. He enjoyed jumping in the bouncing house, sliding down the firepole (make sure you watch your little ones around here), playing with the train table, pushing his sister in the Little Tike car, and reading books on the sofa.

I love this place. One of the few relaxing play spaces I can take my 3 and 1.5 year old without breaking a sweat. Really awesome for families with younger kids, especially if you have multiple younger children. The space is laid out great where you can sit on the sofa and enjoy a snack or coffee while keeping an eye out on your kids. Coffee is good but the food selection is limited. One of my current favorite play destinations.

My 2-1/2 year old son loved this place and we had an awesome fun time. This place is spacious and clean! We live in Puyallup and I was meeting my "BrownSuga" play group and it was worth the drive. The staff and owner were very nice and professional.

The play specs is fabulous! The space is clean, larger than any other kid cafe I've been to, and engaging for my 1-yo twins and 5-yo big kid. There are some complaints about the cost, but given that you have unlimited time plus multi-kid discount it seems fair to me. They are still in their soft opening so I won't complain too much about the food. The menu is much more "snacky" than "meal." I'll prepare for that next time. I know they are working hard to get very healthy, locally source food in, which I appreciate. Suffice it to say they still have some kinks to get out. The new, highly qualified kitchen manager will also have some training challenges ahead as the staff seemed quite stressed and overwhelmed. I'm looking forward to the changes there. Finally, I'd really love to see people withhold judgement of other parents when it comes to how engaged they are in their child's play. Yes, we need to make sure kids aren't hurting each other and kids do enjoy when we play with them. However, maybe that mom on her phone has been engaged in floor play with her 2yo all day and this is her break. Maybe this is the first time she has had a chance to visit with that friend without interruption in weeks. Kids learn a lot when given time to play independently, how fortunate the Playdate Cafe is here and they can have such a rich, stimulating, safe environment to explore and learn. I look forward to our next visit.

Seriously, I'm shocked I loved this place so much and my son loved it too! There was so much to do, he could've spent the entire day there and be content! It's huge and very well laid out. I can tell the owner took great care in the design of the space and everything else in it. It's definitely a labor of love and it shows!! I will be back for sure and next time with more moms in tow. This place does get busy but it's so big that I didn't really mind. I'm all about supporting local businesses and moms and wow this is a great establishment so it makes supporting Playdate Cafe very easy. It's $8 plus tax but worth every penny. It's clean, and very fabulous. Your little ones will have a blast...and yes, I'm a helicopter parent and there's lots of us there. I don't see anything wrong with that. :) I would rather deal with helicopter parents than parents who let their kids bully and run around wild taking toys from the smaller kids. :)

Cool place! I wish there was one closer to me! Love that there is such a wide variety of toys for kids to play with and that the facility is clean. Everyone here was friendly and nice, and the coffee was great! Huge plus! I look forward to coming here again and so does the kid!

My family loves this beautiful space. My 2 and 4 year old enjoy playing here and always ask to go again. There are a few different play areas including a kitchen, a dress up area, bouncy house, and train area... and the entire facility is very clean. They have a variety of toys that are in good condition, and appeal to all types of kids. We also really enjoyed the birthday parties we have attended here! This is just the type of place that the North end needed!

This is a fantastic place and I was impressed when I walked in. I have to admit that I read some rather nasty comments (now I know to be ridiculous) on the Edmonds Moms facebook and was a bit hesitant to come. Thank goodness I paid a visit. The place is great for the younger crowd. I have a 3 1/2 year old who had a playdate and we loved it here. Lots of toys to play with that are in good condition. I can see that the place is very clean. There are little attentions to detail like several changing tables with complimentary wipes, a faucet thingy that accomodates the shorter folk , an adorable birthday party area etc...The ambiance itself is fun. Love the large chairs for parents to sit on in the play area. Love the abundance of toys and bouncy house. The snacks were healthy. I know people complained about having them be pricey but I really thought they were very very affordable. If I bought that same stuff at a hotel, they would be charging me about 3.00 for a bag of annies crackers. Playdate had it under a dollar. Very fair. I love that it is a nut free environment with no outside food. I find it hilarious that some people said not allowing outside food is "tacky". LOL. Bringing your own food to a restauranty type of place IS TACKY. It's a cafe. You go to a cafe to eat their food not bring your own. Imagine, "I think I'll bring a plate of my food and sit at the Olive Garden"....LOL My only complaint is that some parents do not watch their kids. I guess it's the same complaint at the playground too. There were 2 moms that literally plunked themselves on the couch and let their 6 kids total (3 of which were nearly hitting the age limit it looked like) run loose. Their kids were being mean to the other kids, including mine. Where were they? Not even facing the kids and just chatting away. Seriously?! Parents, you don't need to be helicopters but be aware and watch your damn kids especially if most of the children around them are little. Sheesh... My only suggestion would be to either make the place bigger or open a few other locations. It was slammed busy-can't barely walk without stepping on a child busy-on a Saturday morning. There were several birthday parties. A business like this would do very well in Seattle. We are lacking places like this closer to the city. There are a few (Twirl for example) but most are small. This place knows what it is doing. I'll definitely be back.

Ok, let me start off by saying I like this place. Plenty of things for my toddler to enjoy. The cons: 1. It's expensive. $8 plus tax, plus the cost of food/drink can get pricey on one income...but the prices are comparable to other local establishments. 2. People do NOT watch their kids. I think because its an enclosed environment, parents think its ok to let their kids run free while they do their own thing. Several times I stepped in to rescue a child in distress. Ymmv. 3. They really need more staff....to pick up toys/general tidying up/rule enforcers, etc. Granted, it's been busy when I go but it can be utter chaos and it doesn't seem like any of the parents/caregivers are willing to lend a hand to pick up toys. At least that was my experience. Again, ymmv. Again, I go like this place, hence the 4 stars. I will be back but likely not at peak hours.

My son and I love coming to the Playdate Cafe. It can get busy so we like coming in the early afternoon when other kiddos might be napping and it's not as busy. Would definitely recommend this place to others!

Went to the Playdate Cafe for the first time today with my almost three-year-old. I'll admit my eyebrows went up a bit when they charged me $8 just for coming in, but once my son saw the play area he couldn't contain his excitement. He LOVED it! We went in the afternoon, and the staff explained that it is quiet in the afternoons and usually much busier in the mornings. That seems to be true; there were only two other children there. He loved having the run of the place! The space is huge. There is no shortage of toys and play areas. There is even a bouncy house. I was planning to kill time there while my son played and my oldest son (5) was in school, and maybe grab a coffee and a snack. After the $8 entry, though, I decided to skip coffee and snack. It was too bad, too, because the entry fee allows you to stay as long as you want until they close (at 4:00), but I had to leave well before that to pick my oldest up from school. Next time, I will plan better and go when we'll have a lot more time. The sibling rate is $6, so if I had both of my children, it would cost me $14 just to come in. Add the cost of food and drinks, and I just think it's a tad steep. I mean, the place itself is great, but I wouldn't go all the time simply because of the expense. So, pros: *Awesome play area *Lots of space *It is really fun--my three-year-old did not want to leave! Con: *Entry fee makes it a bit expensive, especially if you have more than one child.

My 3.5 year old daughter absolutely loves Playdate Cafe and asks to go there at least every other day. We've been 6 or 7 times now and each time we're there for at least 3-4 hours. There is so much for her to do in the huge play area that she's entertained for FAR longer than any other play place we've been to. Honestly, now that she doesn't nap, this place has literally saved this pregnant mama's sanity in the afternoons. The kiddo can run wild while I can relax on one of the comfy couches in the play area. The space is well thought out, inviting, comfortable and clean and the staff is very friendly. And the fact that we're able to get real food (and good food!) for lunch while we're there is a huge bonus.

I love this place. Genius idea. They have thought of just about everything, down to plastic dippy cups for water and high chairs at every table. It's even pretty calm in here despite 15-20 young children having the time of their life. Wish there one of these in my area. The only reason not to give it 5 stars is the noise of the bouncy castle constantly is kind of annoying. It's giving me a headache, although it might be soothing to a young baby.

My wife takes our infant daughter here every week and they meet up friends. It's very popular and gets pretty busy when the weather isn't so great. They ought to open a 2nd location!

We had our daughters BDay here. Absolutely awesome! The owner & staff were extremely nice & available in seconds. It was a bit spendy (only reason I didn't give it 5 stars) but I'd repeat the party in a minute. Pinkabella cupcakes & Sorelli's pizza were awesome. We ordered a hummus platter that was so yummy! The kids loved all of the toys & were engrossed until closing time. We will most definitely be coming back & sharing our experiences.

As the mother of two toddlers, I simply can't give this place a positive review! I've been twice with my daugthers and have been disapponited both times. I doubt I'll go back a third time, especially since it is a 30-minute drive from my home. I think the location is awful for people who live on the Eastside (Redmond, Sammamish, Bellevue, Issaquah, and Kirkland). The facility is not clean. There are no bins for mouthed toys. If the bins exist, I certainly did not see them while I was there. Considering how much young toddlers slobber and chew on toys, I can't believe they don't do a better job of keeping the toys clean. I have never seen anyone cleaning the toys. My second issue with the place is that there are a lot of older, unsupervised preschoolers (3.5+) who don't play nicely with others. I had to watch my kids like a hawk because the preschoolers were so rough and constantly trying to take toys from them. These are also the same kids whose mothers are sitting at the coffee bar texting, reading and doing everything other than disciplining their children. I even saw one mother setup her laptop at the coffee bar. I don't want to go to a place that requires me to discipline other people's kids. On the positive side, the food is good and the cafe staff seems very nice. I really wanted to like this place, but I just can't recommend it as a good play space for young toddlers.

I brought my two-year old to Playdate Cafe on a fairly busy Friday. He really enjoyed himself. There were plenty of things to play with, everything looked clean and well kept. We will more than likely keep our visits to Fridays since they are open late and allow same day re-entries. We could play in the morning, go home for nap time and come back and I would feel like I was definitely getting a good value out of the admission price.

My 3yo son loved this place. There is something for everyone here and it kept him entertained for hours! He went home totally sweaty - which means he played hard! Which hopefully means he'll sleep well :). They have food, which is awesome. And a bar around the play area where you can eat or sip coffee while you watch your kid. And lots of comfy seating in the play area which is especially good if your kid is shy like mine. Cars to ride in and a road to drive them on, a road, a train table or two, a crawler play area, book/puzzle/calmer play areas, a kitchen, a fire station, a stage, a ball pit, a bouncy house, a tent, and so on :). This place is huge, bright, clean, and "user friendly" (food, seating, free wifi).

Light and airy facility, very clean.and friendly atmosphere. the baby area could use a few more toys but we went on a quiet late afternoon so our baby had lots to explore. Super cute party rooms and a nice selection of cafe food, we'll be back!

  • Audra D.

I love this place. It is a bit pricey since we come every week. $8.70 adds up, every week. The food prices are a bit high. Today is the busiest Friday we have seen in quite awhile. I agree lately there seems to be more "uncontrolled" kids. Bullying. I hope it doesn't get worse. I believe that is the parents job, not the staff.

We've been to Playdate Café a handful of times, including having our daughters 2nd birthday here. It is obvious that the owner has taken every single detail into deep consideration and put into place at the café. The result is a beautiful, well designed, and not to mention fun playplate. The toys are all really nice, again sparing no cost. Many cafes that have a play area are not completely dedicated to kids. Or they are gross with dirty toys and no one minding the area, so the play place becomes a dump within minutes of opening. The owner at Playdate spares no cost at keeping the café clean and inviting. What a smart business idea to have volunteers help tidy the area while their kids play for free. Besides the volunteers, there are employees to do this job too. To the reviewer who left a 1 start review for not liking the hours of the playplace, that is completely ridiculous. You can't leave a review based on that. The owner is right that her hours are posted *everywhere*, she doesn't deserve a one star review because you didn't think to check the hours before you went out. ETA- When we had our birthday party here, everything went great, it was a gorgeous party! We had two attendants to make sure everything moved along ok, while you only have a set number of minutes in your party room, your guests can stay the whole time the café is open to play. Many of our guests stayed till 2pm. We chose the bagel and muffin platter since it was a morning party and it was all delicious. My favorite part was seeing my daughters name in lights (on the play theater marquee). Thank you for a great party!

Good layout, clean, plenty of variety of toys, and good coffee. The train tracks is glued to the train table so its always complete without missing tracks. There is a "road" around the gated baby section, on which kids can ride the tricycles and the push cars. When I was there I saw a woman (employee) go around and tidy up the toys so its not a complete circus. I only had coffee but it was good. They have gluten free cookies and a few other snack. There are several changing tables outside the bathrooms. And of course, the whole thing is gated with a half wall and the one way gate. I intend to become a regular.

We made our first trip to Playdate Cafe this past weekend. I really wanted to like this place (2 girls - 3.5yo and 2.5yo). It is designed well, felt clean, a little crowded, nice staff, but the owner was less than professional (in my opinion). All in all we spent over $30 between entry, snacks and coffee. When we sat to eat/take a break I pulled out special snacks for my autistic 2.5 year old daughter. She's on a very restrictive diet and can't eat much of what's on most menus. The owner came by and informed me that because they are a "licensed" restaurant we aren't allowed to bring in outside food. Now, this seems slightly crazy because we've been to 100's of restaurants that don't bat an eye when I pull out her food. I wanted to follow the "rules" so I asked the owner if she could check to make sure they had items that are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, corn free and she said she'd be right back...she never returned. I went to the counter to see if I could follow up with my request and to better explain our situation (the pickiness of an autistic child), but she never even looked at me. She was too busy helping other customers. I will NEVER go back to this place. I would much rather spend the money at Elevated Sportz, Jump Planet, Twirl Cafe, ANYWHERE other than this establishment.

After attending the soft opening and not being thrilled with things like their policies, food choices and high prices, I decided to give them another shot. It's a rainy Saturday afternoon and what better way to get some energy out of my toddler than bring her somewhere she climb, explore, and play. I arrive and walk up to the door to find out that they close at 2pm on Saturdays! What the hell kind of kid play place closes at 2pm on the weekends?? Yes, it's my fault for not checking beforehand, but I would have never imagined it to not be open at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. I guess their ridiculous hours of operation can be added to my list. I think I'll stick to Elevated Sports and Jump, Rattle and Roll for our indoor play.

Male review ~ Very nice place for 1-6yr to play indoors for $8. Parents can buy Cafe Ledro coffee and bake goods there. Staff are friendly. Lots of seating for parents in and outside the play area. They offer 3 party rooms and one room is all decked out in pink princes decor. Free WiFi...don't forget to watch your kids while surfing. They have 16+ play areas and fenced in area for those little ones. Clean bathrooms and a large diaper changing area. Owner is starting a AM preschool soon, check it out.

Attended a birthday party and my son loved it! They have a train table so he was in heaven. But he did peruse the other toys, which there is a good assortment. The layout is nice because you can sit at the bar and watch your kid, there is also some seating in the play area and fenced area for crawlers so they won't get run over by the bigger kids. They also serve GOOD coffee and have some gluten free options. We can't wait to go back. My son keeps asking to go to Aubrey and Gabby's birthday party, so you know he had fun!

Such a wonderful concept!! My kids love it here. Super clean!! Our white socks stay white! I do wish they let us play by the hour. We don't live close so we really just need an hour or 2 to play. It adds up with 2 kids :/ so we can't come as regular as I would like to. I've recommended this place to all of our friends :) oh a cute thought maybe have some one sitting in the story book nook area reading to kids... I caught myself being that person a few times (which I don't mind)

My 8 mo. old daughter and I just came back from this place and we had a wonderful time! The environment was fun, playful and clean! The staff is very nice and personable, we got to have fun and meet other great babies, kids and their parents/grandparents. The place is new and expanding/developing, BUT, I think we found our new favorite hang out place for my baby! I will be retuning and I am one very happy mom. :)!

I love play date cafe. I don't get to go nearly enough! When we do go it's always clean and Liz is always there and is so friendly. Considering what it takes to run something like this I think the prices are fair. My kids usually spend roughly two hours playing. We stop after the first hour or so and get some food. Good choices and even more reasonable. I will usually get her a bagel and cream cheese. They have sippy cups now too which is great! They now sell the organic puffy snacks .50 cents a bowl! I love that! We usually eat a Meal before we go and just buy a good snack once there but I have gotten the oatmeal and it was delicious! A few times I have bought my daughter one of their beautiful cookies :} The coffee is great! The cafe part has come a long way and just shows how much better this place will improve as the years pass. I read a few reviews that were kind of disappointing, unrealistic and quite ignorant really.. As a parent I'm always okay with helping to keep an eye on "bullying" etc. I really don't mind saying to a child, that isn't mine "hey, that's not nice" when they are acting out. I don't find that just because that is going on means that anyone at play date cafe isn't doing their job right. That's silliness. Let's be realistic. Great place that the kids enjoy. It's clean, safe and a warm place, Perfect for this dreary time of year! I'll definitely be going back. I forgot to mention my daughter is 4 yrs old and LOVES this place. She never wants to leave. I have to bribe her just to get her on the other side of the wall to eat.

I loved this place! My four year old was so happy! We have really tried to find a place indoors that we can play that is not over priced or the dirty mall play area! I loved that they walked around frequently and wiped down toys, tables and chairs! I love that I can sit and have coffee while he plays. Great value and nice staff! I even complained about a food item and they replaced it happily.I was only annoyed with all the parents standing around. They were in the way of all the kids playing! The owner was so nice and approachable. I will return! :)

I got an invitation to play here and I have been waiting for them to open so I can see if this place will work for my daughter and it did! Great staff, met the owner and she is very down to earth. I got another invitation to play again today and we are on our way! I can't wait for them to officially open!

I was looking for a place to take my daughter where she could blow off a little steam without having to brave the coolness of the outdoors. Of course the usual ideas popped in my head..... Imagine children's museum, zoomazium....... but I didn't want the crowded experience that is Imagine and I did not want to drive all the way to the zoo. I had heard about Playdate Cafe and thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. I got there about an hour before closing on a Sunday. Upon entering, the rules were explained to me, I signed a waiver & paid the $8 for my daughter to play. There was no pressure to buy food, and had I not just ate I probably would have bought something as the choices looked pretty tasty. The play area was awesome, larger than any other play cafe I have ever seen. It was clean and there was one employee walking around helping to pick up toys. I have to say I was impressed. I read other reviews and honestly, I really don't agree with the negative ones. I'd consider it common sense to know that you will have to take your shoes off & wear socks in the kids play area. Similarly..... You have to keep in mind that when there are lots of kids in a play area accidents (of all different varieties) are bound to happen!!!! I think this is a great addition to Lynnwood!

LOVE this place!!! Awesome staff, food, offers a safe and SUPER fun play area for the kiddos. A really nice atmosphere to have a playdate with friends or just bring the kids for some time away from home. I was super impressed by the level of detail this place has.

This place is awesome! My 2.5 year old LOVED it, as did my friends toddlers. So many different and fun things to do to keep the kiddos entertained, and I could go and play with him and also sit on one of the stools around the edge of the play area and drink my coffee and have no problem keeping an eye on him. The owner was really friendly, lots of different food and drink options- and I'm not kidding when I say the carmel macchiato I had while here was one of the best I've ever had- an unexpected plus! As far as cost goes- since I only have one kid I would say it is fair. It could get a little spendy if you plan on eating a full meal there, but for snacks and play it's absolutely a great treat to do every so often. The money you pay to get in obviously is put to good use- the whole cafe was super clean. We will be back many times I'm sure!

We have been to a lot of kids' play areas and this one is definitely one of the best. Clean, open, very tasteful play area. Laid out so you can keep a close eye on more than one kid as they run around exploring fun areas. Extremely cute party rooms. Friendly, smiling people. Cafe Ladro coffee (are you kidding me??). Plenty of parking, healthy snacks, all-natural hand sanitizer. They have thought of every detail. A bit of a drive for us, but we'll definitely be back.

my son and i just got back from a visit to Playdate cafe this morning. i have mixed feelings about this place... this is mostly my first impression of a place that has only JUST opened - so hopefully the owner will read this and consider it constructive criticism. the good: i appreciate a place that is kid friendly and values parents and families as customers as obviously this place does BECAUSE it's specifically geared toward parents and children. clearly a lot of people are excited about that too because there were a ton of people there. its nice that there is a cafe part and they seemed to offer a wide variety of kids food - cheese, juice, bunny snacks, etc. however, you can't bring any food from outside except water and formula, which i completely understand but is still lame. the bad: LESS IS MORE. i felt an overwhelming sense of anxiety going into the play area with my 4 year old because there was SO MANY PEOPLE and SO MANY TOYS. the play room contained the following: a bouncy house, a small ball pit, several ( 4-6?) activity tables with trains, duplos, puzzles, at least 5 cars ( maybe more), plasma cars and other ride on toys, slides, large fire truck structure, a fenced-off area for small babies IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM (this could be better placed) and BILLIONS of tiny puzzle pieces and toy food and tools, and play kitchen stuff scattered across the floor and OMG, I must have tripped on toys five or six times. the good thing about all of those toys is that there was way more than enough for every person there, so nobody was fighting over anything. but it just seemed messy and crowded. my son was so excited to go in the bouncy house but got hit in the head with toy some other kid brought in there. another thing i noticed is a blinking sign that read "welcome to play date cafe" that was completely seizure inducing and i hope they figure that out and turn it off because it was really distracting and annoying. we are used to going to the zoomazium at the zoo, where the space is large and they only keep a few toys out at a time. kids have the space to actually run free with out running anyone over. my experience is that kids can have fun with a lot less STUFF around if they have the room to run and jump and this space doesn't offer that. bottom line: too much stuff and too many people. I'd really rather go to the playground where my son can have freedom of movement and i don't have to pay for that. this is not a place i could feel like i could relax while my son played. instead i felt like i had to keep my eye on him always, even though i trust that he does the right thing but all the other moms were helicoptering and i felt the pressure to do the same. my suggestion to the owner of Play Date Cafe is to take at least half of the toys and tables out and cycle through them on a weekly basis. kids don't need literally EVERY play thing EVER invented in the history of time. too many choices can be overwhelming.

I love this place. It is a fabulous community resource that is long overdue. This is the place where I go when I am exhausted and need a break. It is very clean, the food is very good and very reasonable, and they have really thought of every last possible detail that you could need (stools for the sinks for the kids, changing tables, child-friendly sink spouts, etc...) I'm pregnant and I'm so glad that this place is available for when my baby is a toddler!

I could go on & on about how great this place is but, instead, this review is for the skeptics, who might be reluctant to check it out based on the negative reviews posted thus far. Suffice it to say I love this place (I'll share a few of many reasons below), but I wanted to write this mainly because I think that those individuals giving this place 1 star are being a bit harsh. Granted, the experience those mentioned with the child vomiting was unfortunate, but mistakes happen, especially for a place that is so new and fine tuning as they go. I'm sure the staff are now fully aware that carrying the toy w/ the vomit through the food/kitchen area wasn't ideal. But, give them a break. We have been going here weekly since they first opened and we have been very happy with it! Yes, there are a lot of rules. But they are reasonable and appreciated. Truthfully there is one rule I would like to see more flexibility with (specifically the food rule as we have are gluten/egg/dairy/soy free), but even then I understand where they're coming from and I know they are making an effort to provide even more options (the carrot soup last week was stellar!) And, complaining about the sock policy?? Really? So, it wasn't clear on the Facebook page, but this is standard for any indoor play area (Trust me, we've been to dozens!) and, in my opinion, necessary! I mean, why wouldn't you want everyone to wear socks? I know little ones don't always like to wear them (mine included), but I appreciate this rule. These rules will help to maintain that Playdate Cafe is a safe & clean environment, to be enjoyed for for years to come. I really appreciate all the attention to detail- from the child potty seat (my son mentioned this one!), decor & food made by local moms & businesses, to the monitors to help keep the play area tidy- Playdate Cafe is a wonderful place for kids and their grown ups! I have already recommended it to many of my friends who have already visited it and also loved it as much as we do :)

This is such a fabulous idea! I love it and reading the reviews it seems like it would be awesome - but honestly i am giving it a one star because the pricing is just so incredibly high for meeting a girlfriend for an hour or 2 for a coffee date. Having to pay $14 (before coffee or snacks) for the kids to play is just too much for a coffee date. I get that this includes all day but honestly as a mom of small kids - getting out the door for a coffee date for an hour or two is about my limit there is no way i would actually come back later in the day. So unfortunately me and my mom friends won't be able to come here unless the pricing is changed to a reasonable hourly rate - esp. when there are play gyms all around the Seattle area that charge $2 for all morning play.

This place is amazing! We went today with my 9 month old and were utterly blown away. We spent our time in the crawlers area, which is separated from the rest of the play space by a picket fence. It had a variety of giant soft blocks my baby loved crawling all over in addition to many other toys and structures plus a couch for parents to sit on. It was private yet open enough for my daughter to relax and have fun watching everything without getting anxious about the bigger kids running her over. Outside was imaginative play paradise. From lower tables with blocks, trains, and activity centers and even a slide for toddlers to a ball pit to a reading corner to a play store/restaurant, bounce house, play fire station with pole and slide and costumesage with dress up clothes for older kids, plus push cars of all kinds for kids to ride around in and more, there was so much to do! It had a great flow and was very intelligently set up so older kids would naturally gravitate towards different areas than younger kids. There were chairs and couches for parents scattered throughout, and the door to the play area could only be opened from the outside (which an adult could reach over the door but a child could not). Outside the play area was a cafe with tables situated so parents could watch over their kids. Thinking of everything, there were also several kids sets of tables and chairs and around a half dozen high chairs. The entire space was clean, bright, and inviting. We will definitely be returning and hope this place will stick around for the long haul! Edit 6/18/13: This place is quite amazing, but the price kind of hurts. I have found myself not returning because now that my daughter is walking $8 a visit is hard to pay. If you can afford it then, by all means, go, but it's just too much for it to be more than a very occaisional treat for us. Clearly the price point works for them since they are often full to capacity, but I lowered my review to 4 stars because it doesn't work for us. I was also put off by the owner's response to a few customers on Facebook, and don't like that you cannot bring in your own food at all and that they are so strict about it, even in the eating area. I have heard her reasons and get it, but most restaurants will make an exception for very young children who don't really consume much but want a few cheerios to snack on. They evidently sell cheerios, string cheese, etc cheap, but when I'm paying $8 just to get in it's hard to pay more for a few bites of snack.

This place has a great concept and is perfect for rainy day weather. I have taken my 2 year old and infant there 5+ times and it has always been very clean, spacious and entertaining for my toddler. It is a welcoming environment for a mom of 2 who often has their hands full. I am not a fan of the $4 coffee and the food selections. To be clear, I do not mind paying the price for a good cup of coffee but every time I have ordered anything off their menu, it has been cold and tasted awful. My son is also a very picky eater and there aren't many options for a mean there for him which limits the time we can spend there since I have to take him home to eat. I know the owner seems open to feedback so if changes are made maybe we will start coming again but for the time being, we plan to spend our days out at establishments where the food is a little better and I can get a nice cup of "much needed" coffee :)
