The food is decent, nothing special. Some food has been sitting out for too long and gets gross like soggy salads, and hard fries but other items are pretty good. It is a nice place to go with family but do not expect excellent customer service or great quality. We were 8 people, and around an hour later a party of 200 arrived to be seated in our area but we were not forced to move or felt rushed to leave which was great. Overall, decent experience brings back memories from the OCB in shoreline that closed many years ago.

Oh my word! Worse level of service ever. Normally you find there are places that are lacking service, quality of food, or the aesthetics of the restaurant. Unfortunately this place has a low in all. I am honestly worried about getting physically sick from the food and disgusted at the cleanliness of this place. Not to mention the poor level of service. And all for over $60! Take me advice, if you value your hard earned money or your health, stay away from here. Pics posted as well!

This Old Country Buffet is a fucking disgrace. And I say that out of love. Once upon a time, there was a family of immigrants, settling into their new apartment in the Edmonds area. Somehow, they were introduced to OCB, possibly by their fellow immigrants. They thought it was the most charming thing ever - all the different American food under one roof! Meatloaf, burger, chicken pot pie, oh my! So they went there whenever they wanted to splurge their hard-earned $7.50/hour wage on a hearty family meal, with soft serve ice cream to end their meal. Fast forward about 10 years later, I'm not sure what possessed me to come back to OCB. Maybe I was intrigued because it was still open after all these years when businesses in the same complex have closed down and changed into something else, maybe I was craving meatloaf (there was none), or maybe I just felt like taking a stroll down memory lane. The staff were still as friendly and genuinely warm as I remembered, and they did the best they could with what they've got here. What they've got is a crappy-ass building in dire need of a renovation. Though they kept the carpet and tables clean, there's only so much scrubbing and cleaning you can do before management just needs to replace these rotten assets. The plates and utensils are also in dire need of being replaced. The food has potential: the chicken noodle soup would be much better if it wasn't served in a little plastic pail (what is this, jail?), the taco station had awesomely marinated meat, fresh lettuce and spicy salsa (but then someone decided to bastardize it with hard taco shells that looked like they would taste the same 20 years from now), and the crispy chicken sliders actually had very flavorful breaded white meat chicken (it was a tad bit overcooked and a little too greasy). The desserts station had all sorts of goodies. Worth pointing out was the bread pudding (consistency was on point, but no need to drench it in that overly sweet sauce). There's definitely a void in the marketplace for a place where you can find all sorts of comfort food under one roof. I think I have a bit of an attachment to this place because of the memories I had when my family first moved to the US and because a lot of my fellow immigrants worked here. When I came here for lunch, it was quite buzzing with the usual senior lunch crew. You can tell they're regulars from the way they're interacting with the staff and how happy the staff was to see them. It makes me sad to see a place with such charm and potential deteriorate into such a joke. Management should invest in a bit more budget for a bit more quality. It doesn't take much to fix that chocolate fudge machine.

1st time visiting and the food is what we had expected "buffet food" but good. UNTIL As we finished eating my husband looks up and one of the workers has Windex in one hand and a wiping cloth in the other. She is walking around ALL of the food display islands spraying and cleaning away.....yes the "protective glass just above all of the foods. Needless to say we weren't happy knowing that we had ingesting Windex in our meals. The manager was walking all around aware of what was going on and said nothing. #NATURAL CLEANER IF MUST #NO SPRAYS PS...... As I rolled my eyes looking up, YUCK the tables hanging light fixture was FILTHY as in NEVER CLEANED.

Well, between the pink mystery meat. No ice for drinks. No coke. No root beer. It pretty much sucked ass. This is not the OCB I once knew. Hordes of overweight homie's stacking plates like pimps. Senior ladies that wink and wave at me. Babe's with walkers that need a gentlemens help. Oversea homie's draped in Polo. Swag lords that ran multiple tables without spilling one piece of that deliciousness. I miss those days. Now it's wacksauce with an extra helping of I don't know what the hell is in that dish. Goodness...

People 3+, food at 12pm not ready for lunch crowd. Cleanliness 2.0 just saw undercover boss and he needs to visit this site. Dust and sticky stuff everywhere.

Meats, veggies, starches and plenty of dessert options. As buffets go, this one is decent. Clean, trays are always full, and the cooked vegetables are not mush. Very limited seafood though. Carvery offers ham, pork ribs and roast beef. It's kept fairly cold in here, so bring a jacket. Good service and friendly staff.

This was my first time at this location, and I'm really glad I came here! The girl that greeted us asked if we had any military ID or anything which might give us a discount which I thought was freaking awesome!! So thoughtful. Then another nice lady came by to help me clean up after my son and she chatted with me and I told her about how sweet the girl was that greeted us and she told me that she had been here since 7 am! That is a 13 hour shift!!! 13 hours and she's this nice!? Also, not to mention a group came in right before they closed and the staff happily greeted them and didn't get all grumpy about it. Very very kid friendly and the food was hot and fresh, even right before closing. I'm incredibly impressed with the level of professionalism here and I love how the staff interacted with eachother too. Such good partnership together! Great job guys, keep up the good work! Also, they brought my son and daughter balloons :) Seriously, freaking awesome!

Although Old Country Buffet usually gets a bad rap for the horrid quality of food, you can't deny its charm and fun ambiance. The experience is half the fun. Also, OCB is great for families or big southern parties. As for the food, it is less than average. The meat is usually old and dry, but if it is busy, the meat is actually quite fresh and good for obvious reasons. Let's go through a meal at OCB: First, there is almost every kind of food from the south available, from teriyaki to Mexican, even though teriyaki is not southern. Drinks: there is almost every kind of soda available. There is also milk, water, ICEEs, or what ever else. What I do is make a root beer float with ice cream from the soft serve machine. Salad: the salad bar is huge, with almost every kind of lettuce dressing and other veggies available. I like to spice it up with chicken strips from the meat bar. Meats: they're not usually good. However, the meat is at least 20x better than McDonald's or another chain type meatery. Dessert: they have magical selections of baked goods. I, however, like the ice cream/frozen yogurt bar much better. Overall, this buffet is better than some, but average for the old country.

Okay, its time to set the ratings straight on Old Country Buffet, and there's no better way to do that than to "teach", because knowing how-and-what to eat is 90% of finding pleasure in it...no scolding here...just want to point out some things you may not know about Old Country Buffet. (But first, a disclaimer; I am not affiliated with OCB in any way...I'm just an experienced food service professional who enjoys eating here...so please trust my observations. Thanks) 1) Did you know that when Oscar Tschirky developed the Waldorf Salad in 1896, the Red-Delicious apple was essentially the only red (colored) apple available nationally? The Red-Delicious is unique because of it's floral scent which pairs perfectly with whipped cream or mayonnaise based salads (Waldorf or Ambrosia). Did you know that the Old Country Buffet uses the original Red-Delicious even though it has to be hand-cut (Red Delicious are too odd-shaped to be diced by automatic equipment), which is why I can't find the original Waldorf ANYWHERE. Check out all the top grocery deli's...you'll find they all use diced Galas. If I want to enjoy a REAL Waldorf, I have to go to Old Country Buffet. If you try their Waldorf, you will see exactly what I mean. 2) To the reviewer who discovered the "obviously instant" mashed potatoes, let me point out an alternative that you will love. Have you noticed the whole twice-baked potatoes also available? If you take one of those and fill it with OCB's REAL butter and REAL sour cream (on the condiment counter in the middle of the room), and chopped green onion and grated cheddar (from the Mexican Island), and bacon bits (from the salad bar), you will create a loaded baked potato that rivals any major steak house in Puget Sound...just saying ! 3) Did you know that OCB's salad bar is one of the best in the Seattle area? Aside from the variety of ingredients, the dressings are REAL dressings, real Blue Cheese, real Ranch, etc. Ingredients?, count them: Lettuce, cucumber, onion, tomato, hard boiled egg, grated cheddar cheese, cooked peas, mushrooms, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, beets, broccoli, sunflower seeds, croutons, bacon bits, dice ham, and more. If you top that with any of their natural dressings (I like the blue cheese), it is a better salad than I have found anywhere...and as much as you want. How can you beat that...perhaps by dishing up any of the already prepared salads on the other side of the salad bar...Waldorf as mentioned, cucumber, mixed bean, imitation crab, broccoli and many others...they vary. This is why OCB's salad bar is one of the best in Puget Sound. 4) To the woman who found the baked salmon "too late", here's a tip for next time. On the same condiment counter (above) is a service tray of REAL tartar sauce (real mayo and real sweet-pickle relish). Most people don't see it because it's half way across the room from where the bake salmon is served. Even when/if the salmon is over baked, put those two together and it's really delicious. 5) Did you know there is a sauce-island also in the middle of the room? It's a small table with tiered racks holding virtually every meat, vegetable, and breakfast sauce you could imagine. Next time you go to OCB, before dishing up, walk over to the sauce-island and look at all the choices for flavor enhancing your entrees. 6) The Mexican food island offers jalapeno shooters, along with the usual ingredients for tacos and burritos. At dinner hour, the tortillas for tacos are baked with taco meat already inside. This gives the taco that caramelized "pan-fried" taste that is hard to find in any restaurant (Mexican Restaurants included). All the other ingredients are your choice. This is a real step up from the traditional taco bar where you "take-taco-shell-out-of-the-box" and spoon meat into it. But that's available too. 7) Did you know that OCB serves fresh-cut melon, oranges and pineapple in their salad bar? Fruits vary, but the point is, fresh-sliced fruit is some of the most expensive produce in a supermarket...don't take that for granted at OCB...take advantage of it! 8) Did you know that you can find American, Italian, German, Asian and Mexican food choices at OCB at the same time? I point that out because it is almost impossible to eat a sampling of everything in one sitting. This is just one more reason why the Old Country Buffet experience can be completely different every time. 9) Coffee, Decaf, Cappuccinos, Milk, Chocolate Milk, Iced Tea, Hot Tea, "Icees", and all popular soft drinks are available in the middle of the room. But if you want to avoid the $2.49 price for a drink, take note that filtered water from bottles is served at NO additional cost. In the Buffet-League, Old Country Buffet is "5-Stars" ! - Scott

I honestly struggle to give Old Country even two stars. Buffets have never been the best but I feel like this particular one is rapidly going downhill. It's definitely declined since my previous visit a couple of years ago. My family and I stopped by Old Country while I was visiting from out-of-town and I wish we would have chosen a different dining spot. But they enticed us with email deals so we decided to give it a shot. I tried the steak and roast beef and found that both were passable but could have used more seasoning or an au jus for dipping. And the meat was one of the better parts of the meal. The salad bar didn't seem particularly fresh and some of the lettuce was browning. The cheese ravioli had a funny flavor that I can't quite put my finger on. The majority of items just failed to even look appealing. The dessert bar was decent, though, and I actually enjoyed the banana cream pie cup. Since we were there on a Thursday night, which is Family Night, there was a cotton candy machine that proved to be a big plus. Who doesn't love cotton candy?!? But overall, I'd rather pay a few extra dollars and find a better buffet.

Definitely not coming back. There were so much dirt dishes. I swear I turned over 6 plates and 5 cups. Not a lot of variety. They charge for "drinks". I seemed under staffed. At one point, I had to put my own dishes in on for the "dirty dishes" bin (usually you have a busser). This is a once and a never for me.

Poor food choices. Everything was runny (macaroni and cheese, obviously instant mashed potatoes), fried okra was burned, 'homemade' banana pudding had no bananas or vanilla wafers (it was just vanilla pudding). Items were mislabeled leading to several adventurous choices. A lot of offerings were empty despite a small crowd. Overall, poor management, poor choices, and very poor food.

The clean silverware had food on them brought this up with the supposed manager and he started yelling. Never again and this used to be the place with a large 9 person family

This place is very unsanitary the floors are dirty the plates and the spoons and forks where dirty.. Not much to choose from... So if you want to go to a old country buffet I suggest the one in factory's mall....

  • Steve C.

Lots of food choices for little money made it great to take the family. Nothing exciting here to rave about though. We showed up during the switch from breakfast to lunch which was cool because then we could have either one. I started with a fresh made omelet which was great because it was hot. Everything else after that seemed cold.

Home away from home... Specially if you eat straight out of the can - that's how food here taste like. Little to no choices, very small booths, food is either too bland or too salty. Dear management, if you're gonna use canned goods, at least try to be creative and make something from it - not just reheat it and have some creative name for it. The only thing I liked is the cute girl at the cashier.

I lived here for several years before I tried Old Country Buffet in Lynnwood. I had low expectations because I came from the mid-west where we had a number of great buffet-style restaurants. My True Love and I finally tried it and it has become a favorite lunch and dinner destination! This is a buffet but they put extra effort into making sure their dishes are fresh and tasty. The salad bar is great and full of my favorites. The broccoli salad and Waldorf salad are wonderful! We love the baked chicken, fresh rolls, cornbread dressing and vegetable sides. This is diner food, so don't expect five-star resort food and service. But for a buffet, they have great food and service. Yes, it gets busy but it's fun to watch families with their kids enjoying their meals. The staff are constantly busy bussing tables, a thankless job. I try to leave a tip when I have the cash. Remember to leave these hard-working people something when you go. When we don't feel like cooking, and no other restaurant sounds good, OCB is our choice. We can get a little bit of several tasty dishes or create our own "Blue Plate Special." This is comfort food, not designer food. Go, relax and try a little bit of everything! If you get up early enough on Saturday or Sunday morning, try the OCB breakfast buffet. They have all of the great diner breakfast favorites. And if you are a hard core breakfast lover like me, you'll be pleased to know that they never run out of bacon!

Food 3.0 Service 2.5 Price / Convenience 3.5 It's a buffet, it is exactly what you would expect. It does not distinguish itself from other buffets however it isn't worse than any other buffet. So it gets a middle of the road 3.0

We took the the kids and grandkids for dinner on Friday 1.30 to the Lynnwood location. The meat was burned and dry but still put out to eat. The vegetables were overcooked and looked like warmed up. They were out of spoons, out of ice cream during the busiest time . The salad bar was ok but this time the food was not good. Too late I saw that they had salmon . The dishes on our table piled up and nobody took them away. Usually they are really good. I believe that maybe they were understaffed for a Friday night. Here is something I do to make sure I get clean silverware. I put hot water in a cup and put the silverware in for awhile before using it. Makes me feel safer. Their silverware looks so worn. I will try Lynnwood one more time and if it is bad like in January than they will not see us again.

Lived in the area for quite a long time. Have visited a few times, was never wowed but it usually had fairly appetizing food aplenty. My most recent visit today has solidly put me in the opinion, that unless you're going for the salad bar, or making tacos, you're better off going elsewhere. I had lunch for $8.60+tax. Lots of starchy cheap food around, a few scraps of horribly buttery cod. The chicken was a little questionable, not very meaty and little taste. The sausage and sauerkraut was pretty good but both were pretty dried out. The taco meat was surprisingly delicious, they had warm tortillas, and various hard shell tortillas available alongside the usuals, like olives, shredded cheese, black and pinto beans, though no gauc to be found however. The salad bar was very solid, tasty dressings, reasonably fresh vegetables. Salad bar and make your own tacos were good. The rest was mediocre to rubbish. The pizza looked atrocious.

I'm always satisfied after leaving OCB. The people are nice, and the food is cobra rly being rotated to maintain freshness. There is a plethora of amazing food and I never know what to eat first. I give it 4/5 starts because some of the waitresses did not look and act very welcoming or happy. OCB delivers what it promises...tons of food!!

Jennifer B.4/13/2014 Today I went in for breakfast and they always have lunch items out as well..I made a small salad and put the boneless chicken from the taco bar on top. I took one bite and bit into a sharp piece of bone it jabbed my gum hard. I went and spoke to the manager Terry Lewis who said oh ok...And walked away from me. He pulled the chicken. However could care less if I was ok. I will never come back here again . The management walk away from a concerned customer? No thanks . Avoid at all costs!

For what this place is, an American buffet, they get 3 stars. There really isn't another buffet like this anywhere nearby. I grew up eating here with my dad so I've literally been coming here for 15 plus years. As a kid I thought the food here was amazing, as a grown man who travels for work and eats out almost everyday: the food is "meh." But really what can you expect from an all-you-can-eat buffet that only charges $15 per person. Come here if your hungry and in the mood to be bad to your cholesterol and calorie count! Please wash your hands before going through the food line... It's gross when I see that people don't, and then carelessly throw the serving utensils into the food contaminating the food that everyone paid good money for. Try the roast beef or prime rib, it's not too bad! Also they have some decent deserts and salad bar.

the Lynnwood location is worst place on the planet, very dirty, rundown, smells like homeless bo, i threw up everything i ate and still feel sick, every time i think about that place i feel like i want to throw up again.

Foul. Positively foul. Came here because OCB used to be decent years ago. There was a big line up for lunch and they also had a group of 100 come in. Despite that, the food was cold, tasteless, yet somehow still was steaming? The desserts were bad as well. When I went back to work, I was puking 10 min later. Stay away!

My wife and I decided to try OCB again on 10/11/14. We went for breakfast. It was worse than the last time we went. It looked like they painted, that did nothing to help. There was what looked like roast beef all over the wall of the booth we were sitting at. The hollandaise sauce was yellowish water with no taste. There was food encrusted on some of the clean silverware. The bathroom is as dirty as a gas station bathroom. It was nasty there and we have given up on the Lynnwood OCB.

A good value with lots of choices. I especially like the way they mix it up on different nights. It's a nice family restaurant. I really enjoy the variety of foods! Very friendly atmosphere. For a buffet it is a good value. Nice place to bring a group or just the family. Even enjoy dining there when its just me and my wife. The food is usually decent I wouldn't call it high quality but I would call it good American homestyle cooking. With also a good taco bar and salad bar and many other choices. It's nice to have an all in one dinner, with dinner drinks and dessert with so many choices. If you don't like one thing it's great to be able to move on and find something else. I highly recommend this place for casual dining. The people working there are always very friendly and efficient. A great place to take the kids!

It is my birthday so we went over to have dinner tonight. the parking was ample, it is located at a big mall but other stores were already closed so the parking was dark. We were great by the cashier, adults paid $11.99, kids over 12 paid adult price, drinks paid $2.99 each. We were told to seat our own. There was no salmon tonight, instead, there was roast beef, it is medium rear, it seems to me they forgot to season it. There were sausage too tonight, I had 2 small pieces of it, oily and too salty. I liked the tomato sauce beef, it is convenient in a small metal bowl. I also liked the Mexican station, other people in our group liked it too. The only seafood was fish fillet, it was too dry. Unlike many Chinese buffets, Old Country Buffet has fresh food. The waitresses were very polite and professional, they made sure to take our plates away quickly, they always smile and happy in their job, they always great us and thank us. The male employees were not quite professional, they often chatted and always on the customers' way to get plates and food. Overall, the experience was good. We will definitely go back again.

  • Susan C.

OCB...yeah you know me! I feel I must pay homage to a dining institution my Chinese dad forced down my throat as I was growing up. Being that he was Chinese, he viewed the Old Country Buffet (previously Royal Fork, or *something* Fork, or *a Fork in Your Eye*) as "real American" food, just as an American person would view "Panda Xpress", "Lucky Happy Evergreen Dragon HO HO HO HUM Restaurant" as "authentic Chinese". Old Country is "real" American food, but my dad didn't finish the sentence with the rest of the words, "at its worst". Slap together a Swanson's TV dinner and you'll get the quality of the Old Country nowadays. I'm not sure who still goes to these places, but the place is better off renamed as "Old Country for Old Men"... The food is terribly tired and uninventive (though really, how many ways can you make re-fried fried chicken?) The old staples are there - mashed potatoes, corn niblets, fried chicken (and now oven baked for the health conscious). While the rest of the world, including McDonald's, is going on the health-conscious route, Old Country's still pretty unconscious about offering an inventive and more healthiful menu. I guess that's why they've fallen off in customers and have closed down many outlets that used to be throughout Seattle.

Old country buffet, around forever, there use to be one in shoreline, not longer there, we now go to Lynwood location. Wanted to post a review for the longest time but busy after our last visit had to post a review. Food for dinner $11.00 for adults drinks $2.something. Food below average, if you are looking for organic, halal, kosher meats and food, this is not the place, cheap quality food for the masses. Plates, silver wares, from hot tray had food remnants on them so remember to wipe your plate and utensils before putting food on it. Also the glasses, wipe them first. Dirty place, but if you are super hungry and $11 for all you can eat is what you are looking for go for it. Good luck.

I like this place as far as buffets go, only down side is the cleanliness floors were sticky but worse is the bathrooms if nothing else says whats going on behind closed doors is what the bathroom looks like. I would like to return but my wife will have no part of it just cause of the dirty bathrooms.

How is it that when I go to any American buffet there are always a ton of old people around? Is there a close geriatric ward by all of them or is because of the cheap price of eating at these places? Go figure. For lunch here the price is cheap with it being $7.99 for all you can eat. For seniors it is cheaper from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the weekdays. I have tried OCB many times at different locations and this one is no different. Same type of typical food as the others like fried chicken, salad bar, fried fish and mashed potatoes with gravy. This time though I really seemed to enjoy the chicken fried steak as I haven't had it in awhile and the grilled cheese sandwich. I had multiple servings of both and left there having my usual food coma of eating too much. This location was kept pretty clean and they cleaned up any mess quickly. The service was good as they removed the dirty plates before I sat down with my next helping of food. Not bad for coming to OCB once in awhile and enjoying some cheap buffet, but not more than twice a year.

  • Chuck K.

One star is WAY more than this location deserves. It has gone down hill over the last year to the point that I would give a strong recommendation to avoid this establishment! The food is a few steps below a cheap cafeteria, the location is nearly always dirty (floors covered with detritus, salt and pepper shakers that are greasy and dirty). The price of the food does not correspond with the quality, the quality is much lower. This used to be a good location. Amazing what poor management of a dined can do!

Avoid at all costs! I came here with my family on a Sunday for lunch. I had soup and some chicken. After 10 minutes, I wasn't feeling well. I couldn't eat anymore ... And I made a mad dash for the bathroom! Yes, I threw up from the food. I told the worker and his reply "well ain't nobody else got sick." And walked away. I was the only one that had the soup... The whole time I was there. This place is disgusting! Nope. Never again.

I've been to this one a couple times and I feel like it's just okay. Their food wasn't great. The selection wasn't great. The service wasn't great. Something just felt off.

i usually come with coupon so it saves some money and i come on weekends. there is always new food coming out. its not gourmet but cheap buffet. foods decent for what it is. sometimes they have stuff come out that has been sitting too long in back. some customers in these types of places are weird and always complaining. for $10 on weekend to eat what ever is deals for me. i like to go out to eat a lot and once every other month i check out this place. its usually clean and the ladies taking plates away are nice and one remembers me each time i come in maybe because i tip. workers at front at register arent bad.

The food itself isn't too bad, BUT... ICK! This place is gross! Just down dirty! Floor was sticky. Silverware were dirty and some sticky. And the tables & chairs were sticky! The bar was a mess! Also, some of the cups and mugs felt like there was some powder(?) on it...? NOT CLEAN! They need to clean this place up and hire better staff! For example, the busser gal had water dripping off her hand as she took plates from our table! She even reached over my plate! GROSS! The receptionist/cashier and a couple of the workers were friendly, but most everyone else looked like they hated their jobs. This used to be a decent place -- relatively clean with better staff. Now, this might've been the last time there! We went because of the coupon we had, but no coupon will ever entice us there again. Too bad, because there aren't too many of these "American" buffets around anymore. I REALLY WISH THEY WOULD CLEAN THIS PLACE UP! PLEASE!

Came in to try it out.. The reviews were bad but I wanted to try it for myself. Today reminded me of why I stay away from Buffets. This place is not clean and I was very turned off with the dirty plates it feels like they don't even wash it. It's a good price to eat as much as you can but I don't think I would make this a regular spot for me. It's all about cleanliness especially when it comes to buffets so if I could've gave this place zero stars I would have.

We have taken the kids here about 3 times now. The first time they loved it as it was family night and there was a cotton candy machine. The next couple of visits we all noticed how stale the place is. The same exact foods every time and the food is just pretty boring and plain. Now even the kids don't ask to go there.

I would like to start saying that they provided good customer service but most of the time the chicken noodle soup was very salty, the noodle soggy and not much noodle in the soup. Also, half of the time I goes for butter and it was empty. One more issued, the restroom needs to be remodel for sure.

I came in with low expectations, it is old country buffet after all. I guess I needed to lower them more. Food was surprisingly bad. The mashed potatoes were more like paste than anything else. All the condiments were were intermixed and unlabled. Even the desert wasn't worth finishing. Quote from my wife: "I didn't know you could make jello taste weird, but that jello tastes weird." Overall the place was dirty, including the dishes. Wouldn't recommend to anyone unless your only goal is quantity of food.

The food is, at its best, decent quality for a microwaveable dinner. On average, gas station quality. You can do a lot better for the same money.

What's with the pickle relish on the salad bar lately? There's is absolutely nothing in the entire place that goes with pickle relish. At all.

Old Country Buffet is my local favorite for the family restaurant. The variety of items is great, and everybody always finds something they really like. Even my kids, who are very picky on what they eat. Highly recommended!

Old Country Buffet is not a fine dining experience but they do some things right. I have noticed the quality at this one has gradually improved over the years that Terry the manger has been there. I mainly go when I want a big salad. The salad bar has all my favorite ingredients and I can put it together exactly as I like. The soul/ southern dishes: black eyed peas, collards and fried okra are quite good. The Mexican section has tasty cheese enchiladas, decent pinto beans fresh onions and really spicy pico de gallo. I avoid the roast beef, ham, and turkey breast carvings because the quality is subpar. Yet thanks to the variety of dishes there you can always find decent protein. Chicken tends to be good. The steak (London broil) is seasoned well. The baked fish, fried fish, shrimp, chicken friend steaks and beef stew tend to be reliable. I don't care for the soups. I can eat well there for very little money by sticking to the dishes I have named. So, at long last O.C.B. you are moving up to 3 stars. Service has improved to 3 stars as well over the last couple of years.

What can I say about OCB? It's the type of place you go because a) nostalgia, b) you forgot how it tasted...and then you're reminded..not good..., and/or c) you're feeling a little low and low-quality binge eating will lift your spirits. You almost want to ask yourself why...but you convince yourself it's better not to ask.

I go to Old Country Buffet all the time. It's been very good for several years. I've noticed, though, that the proprietor is not there as often as he used to be, and sadly things are going downhill fast. It's not as clean as it was, the food is not as warm or as fresh as it used to be, and then last night happened. There was a man behind me with a baked potato. He picked it up off his plate, said to the girl at the meat buffet, "this potato is cold," and then put it back into the pan with all the other potatoes! That's disgusting, but what's worse is, the meat lady just stood there and didn't take it out or dispose of the now contaminated pan of spuds! I looked at him, looked at her, grabbed the potato and said, "He just had this in his hand!" I gave it to the woman, and she thanked me, but she didn't change the pan. Um, ew. A visit from the health department might be in order.

Go here for dinner, pay under 14$, and eat three meals in one sitting. Good steak (somewhat rare), more than decent fried chicken, and good desserts. Pretty good deal! Best with friends. EDIT:Everyone who went got the flu. Enjoy.

This place was terrible! We were so glad it wasn't too expensive but we will not be going back. The manager gave us a "tour" like we'd never been to a buffet before and it was tacky. I do not recommend this buffet, however I believe everyone should try things out for themselves!

The last time I was in an Old Country Buffet was the 90s, I was in high school and one of my friends worked there which made eating there slightly cheaper than ramen. And I still didn't really enjoy it. Fast forward two decades and my room mate wanted to go to OCB on a whim. I warned them that this would be madness, but they did not listen. Instead of letting them face the lines alone, I went with as a true friend, into the lower digestive tract of the beast. Service: Time has not been kind to OCB, the economic downturn made sure there were plenty of people here, obviously trying to get the biggest calorie to dollars spent ratio they could. The place was packed. The waitstaff all had thousand yard stares, as if this was their private Vietnam. Our waitress once recoiled after bumping into the chair of my room mate like a dog who has been hit once too often recoils from a friendly hand. Textbooks could be written about PTSD here, observing the waitstaff. Cleanliness is not at the forefront of their minds. Tables were littered with spent glassware and silverware, a grim testament to the battles fought there. Bussing was sporadic at best, done with tactical strikes. The war with the bathroom was already lost. One toilet in the men's room was an artist's study in brown and unusable. Paper littered the floor and the inspection sheet which assured hourly cleaning was conspicuously blank. The Food: The only pleasant thing I discovered was added in the decades past has been that they now have an ICEE machine. Oh ICEE machine, shine on you crazy diamond. The fried chicken wasn't offensively bad, but it was remarkably bland. The mac and cheese was a notch above Stouffer's, but not quite up to snuff with Marie Calendar, If I only had ICEEs, mac and cheese and fried chicken, I probably would have given this place two stars if I stuck to those things. But no, my gentle readers, I did not stop there. My morbid curiosity lead me to stray from the safe and instead sample their "steak" and "ribs". The steak was, I was assured, 100% beef, and while I do not doubt that claim, I was forced to wonder what sort of lifestyle that cow lived before being turned over. The meat was tough and dry, but still somehow pink in the middle, as if it were cooked to medium then sent into the hard cold vacuum of space to be preserved. The ribs were in a similar vein, tough, dry, yet paradoxically drenched in sauce. I have no idea how you can cook ribs in which, even while dripping in sauce, it can make your mouth feel like it is stuffed with cotton. Desserts were mostly fair, but special note must be taken of the cheesecake. Even back in my misspent youth, I remembered the terror of OCB cheesecake. It has a texture unlike anything which can be sanely called cheese or cake, let alone cheesecake. I like to imagine they purchase it in pressurized canisters and just spray it into hotel pans filled with graham cracker crumbs. In short, don't go here. There is no joy, only sorrow and gastrointestinal pain.

Love their reasonably-priced buffet, especially the weekend breakfast. Their main selections may not be healthy, but they are tasty enough for me. They also have a decent salad bar. I always make sure I only get vegetable on my first plate. :)

Variety of basic menu items are available to choose from, for a reasonably-priced meal, expecially at senior rate or with discount coupons. Nothing fancy, but your appetite can be satisfied. Usually able to find several items that appeal to my food preferances. Staff needs to keep food supplies replenished in a timely manner--some items were missing for a while. It would be helpful if the food items had identifying labels on them. At our last visit, the Icee machine was not functioning properly--it dispensed warm, diluted liquid, instead of the cold, iced product. I reported that the machine was not functioning, but it was not fixed and there was no sign placed on it to inform customers that it was "out of order". I also tried the latte machine- unfortunately, it dispensed a lukewarm, diluted liquid which was unacceptable. Hopefully, improvements will be made before I give this place another try. I go occasionally for the convenience of not cooking a meal at home, and because of the low cost. However, if improvements are not made, I might stop going there.

How have I not Yelped this place? Since having kids this has been the go-to place for dinner. Basically I can bring a baby here and it works out great because any baby is entertained by a large variety of colors, textures and tastes. Oh, and did I mention that babies are free?? Woot woot! Anyway, breakfast is $5. FIVE BUCKS PEOPLE. Where can you get that? No where. I never order a drink as I prefer water anyway, but if you want one it's $1.50 extra. Dinner is $10 and I think the drink for dinner is $2. Wanna go cheap and have more selection? Go there at 10:45am on a Sunday. You get in for breakfast prices, catch the tail end of the breakfast stuff, and are still there as they switch it out to dinner. (Oh yeah, that 's the fat girl in me talking) There is a terrible inconsistency in the service here though. You can tell when the General Manager is in the building and when he is not. When he is there everything is on-point, when he isn't you're waiting in a long line to get in, things aren't refilled as fast, and tables aren't cleared as fast either. If you go during the week sit in the back section near the desserts, you will get the best table busser. She's watched all three of my girls grow up, and we tip her every time. You can say what you want about the food - no one expects it to be great - look how much you're paying.

I come here with my parents sometimes. There is always a huge line almost out the door on the weekends. The food isn't great, but look, its cheap and sometimes you want good, old-fashioned comfort food for really really cheap. Ok, scratch the good. Mediocre food. The place isn't super clean or well-decorated obviously, but I don't feel uncomfortable. I like that drinks are included and I like to stock up on mac and cheese and green beans and whatnot. It's cheap, all you can eat comfort food. That's basically its only drawing point.

People are too hard on this place. I think you really have to have a different standard when reviewing regular restaurants and buffets - obviously buffet food might be different, it's food that's been sitting out with lines of people poking it at vs. food that's made, then directly nicely put on a plate to be given to you right away. Anyway, their food is just really good standard American food. The price is really reasonable too. Best buffet soft serve ice cream I've ever had too. The best thing is that the food is very consistent with quality. None of that hit or miss krapp with them. They have the nicest wait staff too.

People can hate as much as they want about OCB but I have to admit that OCB is one of my favorite comfort food restaurants in town, and maybe in the entire nation. I typically come here for breakfast on the weekends, and with the price being $5.99 with unlimited portions, it's hard to be beat. On top of that, you can also get coffee, tea, milk, and OJ included. This place is about the same price as Denny's and the food is probably 10x better than getting a grand slam. For breakfast, you have ham, waffles, french toast, cinnamon rolls, an omelet bar, taco bar, oatmeal, cream of wheat, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, toast/bagels/english muffins, fresh cornbread, bacon, breakfast sausages and so much more. No where can it get any cheaper than this. As a plus, if you come 15 minutes before they switch it over to lunch, you can pay the breakfast price and get all the lunch/dinner items as well! This place so reminds me of the Royal Forks and King's Tables that my parents use to take me to as a child.

I was so grossed out by the bathroom that they automatically get 1 star and no more. The food here was your typical buffet, and I can't really complain. It tasted decent, and I like that fact that we were able to sit in our booth for 2 1/2 hours, catching up with a friend visiting from out of State. The place was packed, like most buffets are. And our waitress was exceptionally nice. The salad bar was a little pathetic. There were wilted pieces of lettuces, and veggies (what little variety was offered) looked like it had been sitting there the entire day. I'm a HUGE salad buff, and I love my veggies.... but this was not to be the case this evening. Still, the condition of the ladies restroom was enough to about turn my stomach... and over the period of time that we were there, it got worse and worse. There was trash overflowing the entire time, with paper towels all over the floor. There were toilet liners all over the floor, in the stalls, and the toilets themselves looked disgusting. SERIOUSLY... clean your restrooms. It was foul. We won't be back because of that.

I don't like complaining about food on yelp (and I usually don't) but I really think this place only deserves one star. Nothing less.. the food is only okay, but everything is really runny and greasy!! Everybody else on the other reviews is also right about the food being too cold. That could be a health concern so I was kind of scared to eat the food. The buffet is messy, the bathrooms are messy, and the silverware area even had dirty napkins in it. This place is very unappetizing and it was just a really gross place to eat and I wouldn't recommend it.

I hate that I have to write this review. My family and I have been going to Old Country Buffet in Lynnwood for special get-togethers for years. We have always enjoyed, hot, tasty meals. Not so this time. We went two nights ago, Valentine's Day. We had called ahead and learned there was a line only five deep -- normal for a weeknight. We had always enjoyed their fare so we were eager to enjoy our dinners. Sadly, we regret that we chose to eat at the buffet and I believe it will be a long time before we try it again. Our hot food choices were all cold, regardless of what station they came from. The taco station provided cold beans and cold cheese sauce. The sides station offered cold mashed potatos, cold gravy, cold stuffing and cold mac & cheese. The bread rolls were warm however. We choose the roast beef for dinner and the slices we requested looked perfect, just as we like it, medium rare. Sadly, though the coloring looked mouth-watering the cuts were very, very dry and only barely warm. And if that were not enough, while my husband was in the men's restroom he witnessed an employee leave the restroom after urinating WITHOUT washing his hands. We did report it to management, pointed out the individual. However we did not see the employee approached by management during our stay there. We are very disappointed in this enormous change of experience, we were previously there only 4 months earlier. The desserts were very yummy.

It's all about the choices your make, like most buffets. As a rule of thumb, if the food (especially meats) has been sitting there for a while, wait for another batch.

This place really isn't as bad as people say it is. There's nothing that can really go wrong because you're bound to find something you like. It's a good price for what you get. The bussers are nice and the food is awesome, especially the desserts. I love the ice cream, icee machine, and cappacino machine. Why i didn't give it 5 stars (in particular order) #1: the bathrooms: avoid using them if you can. They are disgusting and look like they've never been cleaned #2: the salad bar: i like salads, but nothing looked very appetizing to me #3: the taco bar: it was ok, but tasted kind of stale #4: some things i really like didn't look very appetizing

I think this place is okay for a buffet place, but even then it has some really bad points. The floors are always completely dirty, I know tons of people are always there, but its ALWAYS like that whenever I've been here. The food was average for a buffet. But they didn't really keep track of what needed to be refilled and what didn't. All in all, its definitely not the best buffet I've been too, but you can't have super high expectations.

  • Trang M.

Ok, for lunch at 7 something a person, it's really not that bad. Having a salad combo you want alone costs $7 or more at places. Yes this place is a bit run down, and full of interesting folks. When you're not sure what to eat and want choices, this place will do in a pinch. The food is not stellar, but when you want some comfort food and choices it's not bad. The staff are very hit and miss. They can be rude, and ignore you and not pick up your dishes, or they are pretty efficient, but we've experienced the first rather than the latter. They do treat their regulars very well, we are not but I've witnessed some VIP treatment. Oh well, this also dictates how much tip I leave. I mean all they do is pick up your dishes. Honestly I don't feel too bad not leaving tip, especially when our table gets ignored. The food is ok, also hit and miss, if I see something that's been out too long I wait for it to get refreshed, the veggies, especially the carrots and green beans are cooked to the point that you don't need to chew it well. I guess they're catering to their older clientele. (which there is always a lot of here). They do charge extra to experience their "beverage bar" makes sense, wish they had bigger cups. The restrooms I avoid if I can, they're groddy. Bring your hand sanitizer to avoid using the facilities. Wish parents did a better job wrangling their rugrats.

How has this placed not been closed down yet? If I've ever gone it's because I've either accompanied a senior citizen or was delusional due to hunger and desperate for an immediate meal. In the handful of times I've gone I've witnessed kids sneezing directly on food, OCB employees using dining tables as bus stations, flies crawling on food and I'm fairly sure raw sewage in the bathroom. Don't do it. For the love of god, DON'T DO IT.

Old Country Hog Trough. My mean friends and I went here and joked that this is where old people go to eat while they die. Be prepared to stand in the buffet line and walk at the pace of one inch per minute. The food is a step up from your high school cafeteria food or the tv dinners in the frozen food section at any grocery store. I guess it's a good place to stop if you're on a road trip and you need something cheap and plentiful, but gawd...

Um, I can't believe I ate here. Don't make fun of me, you jerks! It wasn't my fault. I was FORCED to come for lunch yesterday. And you know what? It wasn't completely horrible. Maybe it was because I had such low expectations, but I actually sort of enjoyed my meal. And I found everything to be very clean and organized. Even the other diners weren't as white-trashy as I imagined they'd be. The best part, of course, is that it's dirt cheap. I opted for the $4.99 unlimited soup and salad plan. All the veggies in the salad bar were fresh and there was a decent selection, including a creamy and delicious seafood salad. Their chicken noodle soup was fine, if not a little on the lukewarm side. I loved that their salad bar included the taco bar. I made myself a taco salad the second time around with seasoned ground beef, melted cheese sauce, rice, refried beans, shredded lettuce, tortilla chips, salsa, and sour cream. Sure, it wasn't a gourmet meal, but for $4.99, you really can't do much better. Give it a try!

I am a big fan of OCB. Sometimes, I'd prefer to judge my eating upon how many hours I've been eating rather than how much I've consumed. Eating marathons are the best and OCB is the best place to do these at. Always drink water or tea, they won't take up valuable room in your internal food bag like carbonated beverages. Maximum food consumption is the goal here. The food isn't completely amazing or gourmet, obviously. But it's comforting & gets the job done. It's cheap, easy, & you can eat an obscure medley of things you wouldn't be able to get at another single eatery. Salads, french fries, baked fish, macaroni, popcorn shrimp, caramel sauce, mmmmmm. The staff does a wonderful job of clearing away your plates, typically while you are away, filling up for another round. I've never been in the bathrooms, so I have no say on this. I go places to eat, not use their facilities. I've definitely gotta try to come at the switch-up from breakfast to lunch/dinner that other posters mentioned. That's a phenominal idea.

This place is GROSS. I've been to a few (maybe 3-4) Old Country Buffets in my lifetime, and this is absolutely the worst one. We went at lunch time one random afternoon and there was not a lot of selection, and what was put out was halfway burnt or looked like it was there for a week prior. Nothing looked or felt clean at all, which when you're eating at a buffet is a pretty big thing. It was just gross. I ended up sticking to a few pieces of cornbread and salad for my meal and called it a day. Never again.

*I think* this is the Old Country I went to the other day when I was in the area. I really don't know why Old Country/Hometown Buffet always get such bad reviews! I think these places are just FAB! Had a nice dining experience here too. Came here right before the lunch cut off price so my party of 6 got in for only a little above $50, including tip. From what I've noticed, the difference between Hometown Buffets and Old Countrys are that at HB they have green plates and at OC they have blue plates. At OC they also have smaller soft drink cups, but larger hot cups. Fun to spot the differences. Anyway, thought the food was fab. Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum. Don't know about y'all or what else y'all were eatin', but I was muching on some deeeelicious food. Yum.

the price is fair roughly $13 per person with drinks $11 without drinks. I must be lucky because I have never had the problems others seem to have at this place. the food is good, and It's all you can eat . they have a big salad bar and they have a speciality bar, sometimes it's a pizza bar sometime a taco bar sometimes a fish bar. and a regular entrée bar, but there is no alcohol here. Get there early as it gets full Really fast after 5 pmthe only thing i am not overly fond of is that drinks are not a part of the basic all you can eat price ( like they would have been 20 years ago), however Once you've paid the extra for drinks they have all you can drink slushys and pop and coffee and tea and milk and sometimes chocolate milk other stuff as well. They have a big parking lot and some big gumball machines and lots of sweet stuff for dessert. unfortunately no desserts for diabetics.

Not the best but not the worst. Easy on the pocket for breakfast (5 dollars). Made to order omlette station, decent eggs, I love to get the pancakes than put strawberries and whip cream on them. 5 dollars. Dinner is a hit or miss. But I always stick with the salad bar which I really like here. Other than that everything is just passable. My kids like it tho.

OK, this is a two part review. If I was writing a review for lunch or dinner, this would be a two star review, at best. If I was writing a review for breakfast, this would be a four star review, easy. Lunch and Dinner: Old school comfort food with mediocre preparation at best. Think canned green beans, over cooked carrots, instant mash potatoes, nasty grainy mac and cheese, salty soups. It isn't ALL bad if you're seeking a comfort food fix. They actually make darn good fried chicken, and when I'm looking for a fix for fried chicken, this is my go to place. There, I confessed. The yeast rolls are stunningly good and the corn bread thingies (they look like space ships) are also very good. They do have a carving station but it is serious hit or miss. The desserts are cheap and poorly prepared, but a soft serve ice cream cone is comfort food on any part of the planet and impossible to screw up. Breakfast: First - five bucks. All you can eat breakfast, five bucks. And it is darn good breakfast. Sausage, kielbasa, bacon, ham, eggs, made to order right in front of you omelets, eggs over medium (seriously, right on the buffet), hash browns, choc chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, waffles, do you get the idea yet? All sorts of fresh fruits, yogurt, salads. So in summary. Lunch or dinner? If you want fried chicken and basically stick to that, not all that bad, otherwise forget it. Breakfast, darn tasty stuff done well.

I am stunned to see any reviews with 3 or more stars. This place is horrible. Mass-prepared food that is basically tasteless and definitely not savory. If you have to eat here, hit the salad bar and perhaps the taco bar. Four of their "five kinds of shrimp" advertised are deep fried and about the size of a popcorn kernel. Kids were running around all over and playing with the Slurpee machine. Twice while we were there, children dropped their plates, with food and pieces of broken pottery flying everywhere. Never again...

This place needs to be shut down or go out of business. Everything smells like an old grandma's armpit. EXTREMELY UNSANITARY, EXTREMELY LOUSY SERVICE. Old Country is laughingly pathetic, just one of the worst 10 places I have ever eaten at, including buffets. DON'T GO THERE.

I went here on a weekend around 9pm about a month ago. My roommate and I were starving. I had eaten at many OCB's in the Midwest when I was growing up so I was hoping to have some fond memories since its a chain restaurant. Both of us were VERY disappointed. Granted we were at a buffet place late at night on a weekend. we werent expecting the hottest or freshest food. Even with our low expectations, it disappointed completely. Neither of us had anything good to say on the way home. I need to find a better buffet place.

This place is about 1 mile from my condo, so the location is great. The food is ok at best but what do you expect from a buffet? Its all about quantity, not quality. When your starving and having nothing in the fridge and you want to eat quick this place is great since you pay the cashier and the foods all ready to go without a wait. The bbq ribs are really good on thurs and sat nights. Dont try the steak though unless you enjoy chewing on grace c beef for 5 minutes before giving up. The ham is gross too, they must pour a couple of cups of salt on it before serving it up. All the regular everyday foods are decent. Desserts are not that good, mostly dried up from the night before's dinner that wasn't eaten yet. The prices are decent, not too bad. All in all, good for lazy nights when you just want to pig out on a nice selection of frozen food quality food. yum yum.

  • John O.

Went there for dinner the other night. The steak was tasty, but a *little* tough, the fried chicken was good, the mac & cheese was *very* good, and they have a good salad bar. Not exactly a classy place with great atmosphere, but a decent buffet for a decent price (2 buffets, 2 drinks $26.26 with tax).

This is an economical buffet, not a fancy Vegas buffet or a cook to order restaurant. Every family member should be able to find something they will enjoy for about the same price as dinner at Burger King or Taco Time. The salad bar is excellent, which is why I rate 4 stars instead of 3. They always have a huge variety of salad toppings and I have never seen old veggies and fruit. It is very fresh. The taco/nacho bar is good. The rest of the buffet tends to be super fatty and carb-heavy. But the dishes are fresh. The desserts are average, with soft serve being the highlight. Mostly jello no bake style cheesecake bars and brownies. If you come on a Saturday night, be ready for the crowd. It is outrageous and the staff cannot keep up with the mess in the tables area. I do watch them walk through and wipe up the buffet and wipe down the serving handles on everything. I think they do a good job there. The bathrooms and tables, not so much. So to clarify, this is not a 4 star restaurant. This is a cheap buffet, but it is a really great cheap buffet.

well i have come to conclusiong there are not good (amrican food) buffets! at least not for lunch or dinner =o[ there was lots of variety and was refreshed enough but its just mediocre food. i paid $10 and all i ate were the mash taters, gravy corn and popcorn shrimp lol.. staff was ok. but its just not worth it i'd rather spend $10 at spaghetti factory. bathrooms were NASTY!!!!!!!!

Was taken here for my 62nd Birthday. Went on Saturday night around 6:30. There was no line to get in. There were quite a few entrees from which to choose(i.e. fried chicken, baked chicken, ham, roast, baked fish, deep fried fish). I started with a salad which was fresh. I then ate the baked fish, deep fried okra, and popcorn shrimp along with dinner rolls. For desert I had the swirl ice cream with hot fudge topping. The plates were cleaned off the table after each entree. All and all it was an enjoyable experience.

The kids love coming here because they can pick whatever they want to eat and have as much as they want. Sure the food isn't the best, but hey you can get outta cooking for one night, everyone can find at least a couple things they like, and the staff at this location is pretty friendly. There have been a couple times I have run into something I didn't like much but ya know what? Ya just move on to the next dish...problem solved.

I wish this place would go out of business.....the food is always really, really, really, really, really, heinously awful and way overcooked. The prices arent too bad, but they shouldnt be and the restaurant is always dirty.

this place was horrible my fience and i walked in and waited 5 minutes in order for the person to have us pay then i told her i only wanted one drink and she charged me for two. after that we went to get our food and all of it was completeley over cooked and cold. also the chefs or so they are called were hording over their meat so it was like umm no meat for me today and also another server yelled at us for using the wrong cups. so dont waste your time here and even if you have kids take them to chinease or mcdonalds in the parking lot would be better than this place we will never return
