I'm extremely happy with the quality of food, from the banchan to the dishes. I've had the BBQ ribs dish (not AYCE but there is the option to get meat so you can cook it yourself), and while it was expensive at $21+, it was very tender and very juicy and flavorful. The ribs stew (or galbitang) is a must-try. It's really good. Something about it makes you just want to drink and slurp more and more. The yukaijang is great I heard, and the suhlungtang was great but not as good as the galbitang. Love the lovely old ladies who work there.. they make you feel right at home!

If you are looking for an authentic Korean barbeque or other Korean dish, I would highly recommend this place. We went to this place for my daughters birthday and the older Korean lady there was a great server and very kind. She actually texted me a few days after our dinner to let me know about an event she mentioned during our dinner. On top of the exceptional service, the food was tasty and the side-dishes kept coming. Overall, it was a great value. If you're looking for a Korean restaurant with exceptional service, great authentic food at a good value, and a very nice atmosphere, I would highly recommend this place!

this place is a rating for O Bar, which is connected and ran by the same business with a different concept. This is close to a traditional Korean pub in Korea, or it's a very common type of Korean tavern/pub type of establishment in Korea town in California. This place is very small and cozy with very decent food. I noticed most places in Washington doesn't serve soju by the bottle which is a upset. Soju is like wine for is along with our cuisine. It's a tradition. I was really happy that they actually served it by the bottle. This place is probably the better Korean establishment I been to within the week I have been here in Wasington.

We came here on one of the snowy snowy days and were pleased that even while the parking lot remained empty, and the snow thickly iced over everything--Chung-Sol's "open" sign was still on. We were greeted by an elderly friendly couple and because of the snow, an empty restaurant. The food was good, the service was pleasant and the atmosphere was like-able which was exactly what we were looking for. I liked that the restaurant was smaller in scale and the people more attentive. But what impressed me most had something to do with how the owners were willing to brave the weather to keep their establishment open (and feed cabin-fevered, isolated folks like us).

I was hoping this would be reminiscent of LA K BBQing ...but I had a feeling this place would not live up to my expectations . I liked grilling on the seoddukkong (lid) instead of the usual grill. And The ventilation was surprisingly good As I didn't smell too smokey afterwards. The meat was great. Not an overly sweet marinade and the quality of the meat was good . However, it was Super pricy! 18 bucks for 6 slabs of kalbi and a dab of bulgogi (about 5 oz of meat?)that came with a load of green onion and carrots ( fillers) . I could understand something like this on cap hill or downtown, but not on the outskirts of lynnwood . And the meat did not come with any soup / jjigae . Oh and the side dishes were sadly eh..nothing special .,.i am glad I tried it but I'd go elsewhere . Don't think I'd come back, despite friendly service .

although lynnwood has a plethora of korean bbq joints, i was beginning to fear that they all used the same poor quality meats and flavorless ingredients to compose their menu. luckily we found chung-sol restaurant (adjacent to Obar) one evening. it's a cozy spot nestled along hwy99, and was convenient to our old apartment so we'd frequent this spot a few times per month. we consistently order the intestine, brisket, and short ribs, and have always been pleased with not only the quality and cleanliness of the meat, but the robust flavor of the marinades and sauces to accompany. the side dishes are plentiful and tasty, and the soups are delicious and taste very much like a homemade meal. i'm a particular fan of the bean paste soup... i often times order one to go and have it for lunch the next day with a bowl of rice. perfect!! some nights we head next door to Obar where we enjoy beer and soju.. the atmosphere is pleasant and warm, and we always feel very at home. this is one of those places were we feel at ease and very much like regulars... the customer service is spectacular, and we always leave with a smile on our faces. since moving to SLU, we haven't made it back for korean bbq... but we're planning to go soon... i really miss that bean paste soup!! :)

I've been here a couple times with my coworkers. Always great service and food. It reminds me a more Korean style bbq restaurant like in Korea. But overall, I had great experiences here.

Finally a decent korean BBQ and "dak gal be" place north of federwal way!!! This place... generous with side dishes with a good varity. The food is just "makes your mouth water" and "make your stomach smile" good. It's in a small cozy place where I think the tables may seat up to 4. I'm sureyou can extend the tables. Come one and come all!!! Be happy there is an awesome BBQ in lynnwood!!!

Has Chung-Sol gone through a rebranding? From my experience, it is now known as Sottukkeong. :) Anyways, Sottukkeong/Chung-Sol is my favorite Korean BBQ place in Lynnwood! Owned by a little old couple, the restaurant features various Korean BBQ combos, from pork belly (samgyupsal) and marinated beef (kalbi) to spicy pork and seafood. Your group can order one of the combos depending on what meat you want to grill. Some of the options also comes with beer or soju. Along with the grilling meat, you usually get a side order of Korean soybean paste stew (doenjang jigae) and steamed eggs (gyeran jjim). It's not the largest restaurant around - each table can probably seat 4 people max. if you're going primarily for grilling, you should probably go earlier rather than later. I've heard that it's a favorite for late night food/drinks and can get quite busy. :) If you still have room after your Korean BBQ, I highly recommend ordering the stir-fried rice. They fry it directly onto the grill, using the leftover marinade, grilled meat, etc. as flavoring and ingredients for the rice. Add some kimchee, soy bean sprouts and lettuce for extra seasoning!

This restaurant is an interesting place because it's sort of your hole in the wall type place with good hometown style food (if you're from Korea), nice family run service, and also a good place for drinking. Yup, it's also a nice drinking place if you want to sit around late at night eating Korean food and drink a lot of soju. The dahk gal bi (chicken cooked in front of you) is great and really by far the best thing to order on the menu. The best part of this is at the end when they mix in rice to make some fried rice. The woman who owns the place is the main cook and she's great...reminds me of my own mom.

Outstanding..simply put. My wife and I tried this as our first Korean Experience about 3 years ago. We were so impressed with the whole Korean BBQ experience that we set off on adventure to try all the Korean BBQ we could find. We found some good spots, but all of our meals ended the same way.. "it's not Chung Sol" . We still try to keep an eye out for new places, because we're adventurous eaters. As of now, we've never encountered a better experience that Chung Sol. There's a lady who works there..she now tends to work the back while her son works the front. She is an absolute hoot. She has a motherly feel that's beyond precious. Her son is on the spot, customer service and a cool cat. We really enjoy this place. It's more like coming home for a good family meal. I've read some of the reviews here and have a hard time understanding what happened. My only guess is the dishes you order are typically for one person. You'd want to order about 1 per person or 4 for 5. It looks like the previous reviewer may have ordered 1 and shared it. I don't know. But, I say give it go and see what you think. The place is pretty cool. You'd have to see it to appreciate it. Wifey and I have our standards. We do one of two things.. we either order from one of the wall menu items (you'll understand when you see it), which includes soju or beer :) . ..or.. we'll order bulgulgi and short ribs..sometimes LA style. Although the LA style doesn't have much of a portion for the cost. It's hard to resist because they're grubbin'. We also get them to marinate everything. The sauces for the meat are good..but their marinade is very very good. I swear I could drink it by itself. (..and I do if the wife isn't looking..just sayin'). Final comment is their side dishes. At one point they started to slip a little. They weren't as fresh and the assortment left a little to desire. As of 2 months ago, that all changed. We've been very pleased with the side dishes they've been putting out. I hope this helps and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Cheers! Ken Go Hawks!!

Had my mind blown by the jjambbong kalguksoo (spicy seafood knife-cut noodle soup) last night. The broth was deep and silky with the sweetness of the seafood perfectly balanced with the spicy and savory flavors of the broth. The noodles must have been made in-house cause the strands were uneven and slightly twisted, just like when my mom used to make them eons ago. The noodles were perfect in the soup because their springy, al-dente texture held up well in the assertive broth and didn't soften and disintegrate as quickly as traditional noodles in jjambbong. I will definitely be back for this hidden treasure! We came to get our usual fix of dakgalbi (spicy chicken sauteed with sweet potato, rice cakes, and cabbage on a griddle in front of your face until ready to eat). I couldn't resist asking to have our leftover chicken turned into fried rice. The food was spot-on as usual and the night ended with us waddling out clutching our over-stuffed bellies as usual. Our only qualm was that our appetizer (corn-cheese) came out after our entrées but we totally ended up eating everything anyway so no big deal for us~

Chung Sol is easily a 4 star joint and on this instance, it was a 5 star experience. On a last minute trip to Seattle the other day, I reached for my handy yelp app and punched in "Korean restaurant" as I do every time I'm in a new city. We were in the Lynwood/Marysville area and initially decided to eat at Ka Won because there were 74 reviews, it was open til 11pm, and it was obviously popular. So we pull up at 9:45pm and ajumma tells us that they're closing?! "Ok, yelp says you're open til 11 and I'm looking at your sign right in front of me and it says 11?! So why are you guys closing?" "If we're slow we close early"??? lol funniest sh*t ever! Whatever. There's a better looking place right accross the parking lot. See ya!! So we pull up to Chung Sol and we were pleasantly suprised because they were somewhat busy for a Monday night at 10pm, and it's a younger crowd. The joint is very clean and very Korean~ish. It would easily blend into the plethora of K-restaurants throughout LA's Koreatown without skipping a beat. I feel at home. So we decided to order sam gyup sal and galbi. As we wait for our meat to come out, ajumma brings out this huge tray of banchan. 12 dishes to be exact! All of which are as authentic as can be. Of course our Cass beer and Cheoeum Cheoleom Soju comes out too, and we quickly start drinking. Our meats eventually come out and we start cooking. It's all seasoned just right. Not overly salty or sweet so you can actually taste the meat and not the sugar/salt. We continue enjoying our food and drink while ajumma is attentive to our needs. She even stops by once in a while to sit next to us and chit chat. She's very sweet. I'm actually glad that Ka Won turned us away because had it not been for that, we wouldn't have found this gem of a place. Again, it's not THE best Korean restaurant out there, but it's much better than anything found in Oregon. The food was a 4 star but the experience and service definitely earned them a 5 star. The atmosphere is very mellow and it is a younger crowd so keep that in mind. If you want to eat gogi and drink soju late at night, this might be your spot! I'll definitely visit again the next time I'm in Seattle.

Just like Eric L. i came to the area to eat at Ka Won but when we pulled up it was closed. I was thinking that maybe we should go back to shoreline and eat at Hae Nam Kalbi, which is my go to Korean restaurant. But I saw this place and yelped it and there was 1 review and it looked promising.. My older sister, her friend and i decided on trying it. We came in and there were two other groups. One that was finishing up and a mom and son duo and one older woman who was serving us. We ordered two orders of bulgogi. The lady brought out about 4 banchans for the three of us. "Thats it?? Awww" is what i thought but i was guessing that the bulgogi would make up or it.. NOT! It took forever to come out, and when it did it was all combined on one plate. Hello lady! WTF we are paying seperately here, i want the portion i paid for! I don't want my sisters friend eating what may be mine! The serving was small for "two orders" and to make things worse it was mostly fat and barely any meat! Yuck! Totally inedible! Since we waited so long for our food, we munched on most of the banchan. When we were finally able to get the ladies attention (she was so busy chatting up the other table making sure they were happy to notice that we were still there) we asked for more banchan and she got mad and gave us some lame ass excuse saying that we didnt order enough food to get a free refill on the banchan! WTF LAME!!! The rest of our meal she didnt even check up on us to see if we needed anymore water or anything else . When it came time to pay, neither my sisters friend or i decided on leaving a tip (she just did NOT deserve anymore of my money for her non existant service and rude attitude.) We paid, walked out and she had the nerve to FOLLOW US OUTSIDE and watch us get in our cars and just stare at us until we drove back onto hwy 99. Like seriously?? Wth is your point in doing that?? Maybe if you paid attention to us and our needs instead of putting all your attention to your other 1 table who was trying to learn korean from you, then maybe we would have left your ass a tip! I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone! There are so many other kbbq restaurants on 99 that will give you unlimited amounts of banchan, better quality meat, good service, AND cheaper prices! I wouldnt even give this place 1 star! Im shocked that this restaurant has the rating that it does here!

Had a great meal and fantastic experience at this place. Has round tables with grill in center as well as booths with grills - smallish, but they put rolling side tables next to you, so it makes for a great group experience. Standard barbecue meats plus hot pots. What made it great was that we went with friends with a daughter who has a traumatic brain injury and has motor skill issues. The woman waiting on us was very kind to her and later a cook came out and talked to us. They serve a really nice huge platter of salad (romaine with a great dressing) and a fantastic egg custard with the meal. Lots of pickled items with the meal as well. Very good food, great vibe from the people running it. Open to 2am for you late nighters.
