I recently ate here, as I like to support "local". The picture we saw in a flyer showed a traditional cheeseburger with all of the fixings, lovingly assembled in the ad. It looked fabulous. The sandwich I received looked nothing like it was represented to be in the ad. The patty seemed cool, cooked through but not hot and the lettuce, slice of tomato and condiments were thrown together in a haphazard way. As for the fries that came with the sandwich, they were hot, but unseasoned. Little to no salt on them and they seemed to be poured out of a bag. The people staffing were less then enthusiastic, not unfriendly but just there. Not a good value for the price, I feel.

We needed a quick bite for lunch before we boarded the ferry. This place totally hit the spot. Burgers were affordable, but really tasty. Fries were great. Kids burger wasn't a total rip off. I thought about just giving this place three stars. Not many drive-ins rise to the level of 4 star. However, the giant frosty mugs for the rootbeer put Fidalgo's over the top. If I'm ever waiting on a ferry, this is where you can find me.

This was pretty crazy good. The crab burger is something special, and tastes totally fresh caught. It's made from pure crab and seasoning, I think. Really incredible. The burgers are also a perfection of the standard, juicy without being overwhelming and covered in pickles and condiments. We got a ton of burgers, clam strips, and the crab burger. Would go back anytime--food is good, atmosphere is very chill. Being delivered food in your car always feels luxurious, even at the low low price.

Usually have really good food, sometimes we have a long wait but not too terribly bad. My daughter loved going there for dinner. They have fabulous shakes. The girls working there sometimes have an attitude. It would be nice if they had a uniform or dress code. I love eating there though.

Overpriced food, unprofessional staff and they really ought to invest in some sort of cleaning supplies that will actually remove the grease from the tables, floors, ect...

I am surprised by some of the comments. I have tried their halibut sandwich and crab sandwich. I say this is 5star restaurant quality at macdonald price. What not to like? :-)

Super greasy (which can pretty much be expected) and the customer service wasn't exceptional, but the root beer float will knock your socks off.

Worst burger ever, served cold. Had them "remake" it, got new one it was cold too & the meat tasted old. Threw it away! Fries were good. So sad because they had good burgers for years. I'll never go back (I live in town & like to support small businesses but, I wasted my money)

We stopped for lunch at this place and yes the girls were cute and very efficient but the food was terrible. I had the blue cheeseburger and the patties were cold and the blue cheese in between them was not melted and there is just barely a slither of mayonnaise on one of the buns. My wife had the deluxe cheeseburger and meat on it was also cold and the cheese was not melted. Our dog was fortunate in that he get to eat most of our lunch because we felt it was uneatable. It's really a shame because the old A&W that used to be there was excellent. We will not be stopping there again!

Decent bacon cheese burger, bland fries, lackluster service. Better than a typical fast food place, but not by a lot...

yes there are cute young girls there but they were dressed like teen aged girls, John H is either a prude or from the '40s burgers were good the waffle fries were perfect. yea the place is a little divy in appearance, but that is part of what makes this place cool.

I've been here several times. The food is good, however the fact that the owner hires underage girls and allows them to ALWAYS wear low cut shirts makes me uncomfortable about this business and while I'm ordering.

Mmmm. Good burgers and fries! Typical 50's style drive in food!

Holy mother of crab, this place was delicious! After a long, relaxing weekend in the San Juans, my boyfriend and I were dreading the drive from Anacortes to Tacoma. Thankfully, my filling experience at Fidalgo made the journey a tolerable experience. I had the crab sandwich, which amounted to a giant lump of buttery crab, wedged between a bun. There may have been some vegetables wedged in there, but who cares? It was loaded with crab! The onion rings were also served in generous portions, and soft-serve ice cream was a-plenty in the root beer floats. I will definitely make a point of stopping here on my next trip to the San Juans!

The burgers are good but the owner employs only snotty little teenage girls that do two things really well: 1 getting orders incorrect (c'mon, it's burgers, not surgery) and 2 giving snotty attitude. After having this on 3 separate occasions, I will not be coming back.

If we hadn't eaten inside the establishment, I might've given this place 3 stars. The food was fast food quality or just a hair above it. I tried the fish and chips, and the chowder. It was ok if viewed as a fast food meal rather than diner food. But what really turned me off was the condition of the place. It's run down and looks like the owners just don't give a damn. The booth seats were stained and worn out. The windows were dirty and crawling with gnats. There were also a few flies we had to regularly swat away. The fries were tasteless but I was NOT going to even touch the ratty old ketchup bottles sitting on the tables. The whole interior looks like nothing has been changed since the '80s, but not in a deliberately cutesy retro way. You have to think, if this is what the front looks like, what's going on in the kitchen? I don't know how we ended up here. Only positive was the service.

Stopped here on the way to Whistle Lake to get some food in before we went swimming and were pretty shocked at how great the food was. The drive-in part was really fun, except our speaker was pretty shoddy and our neighbor in the gigantic Escalade decided to park diagonally which made me generally uncomfortable. Not the drive-in's fault! We had many cheeseburgers, as well as a bacon cheeseburger (bacon wasn't particularly noteworthy), the clam strips basket and a Dungeoness crab sandwich. The burgers, for the price of about $3-4, were incredible. The ordering options were "Deluxe" (with fresh lettuce, tomato, etc.) or "Classic" (only ketchup & mustard & pickles). The vegetables on the Deluxe were very fresh, and neither one skimped on the condiments. The clam strips were huge and definitely not frozen. They came with a tartar sauce, and the accompanying very good fries came with ketchup. Speaking of fries, you have about 6 different choices of fries including waffle, steak, and curly. Doing justice to the potato, if you ask me. The Dungeoness crab sandwich was kind of unbelievably good. I am a well versed crabber and this stuff did not taste frozen or canned, it tasted really fresh. It also didn't taste like a crab cake with a bunch of bread and filler, it was just pure Dungeoness crab. A+++ I would definitely go here again! The wait wasn't long and while it wasn't clear how or when to pay, it all worked out and we fed 4 people very well for $40.

Awesome burger!! I come here every time I come through Anacortes. Reasonably priced, dare I say inexpensive? Worth a try.

Love this place! It used to be an A&W restaurant ages ago, but the local franchise owner wanted to keep his own local food on the menu (like the Crab Burger) and so he changed it over to the Fidalgo Drive-In. The rotor floats are awesome and super generous portions, the burgers are fresh and juicy and so very good. It's better than any other burger place in town. It's a great place for a large family or whatever, it may take a little time to get your order, but it's all made to order so it's good and fresh when you get it. Super delicious onion rings, crispy and not greasy, the batter is savory and it's all just so good, try it, you'll love it!

Cool! A first review! A former A&W. Went on a Saturday at lunch with a party of seven into an almost full restaurant. Put in a big order and it came rather fast. The food was good and a more than you would expect from a drive-in/fast food place. Had a selection of burgers, corn dogs, regular fries, curly fries, tater tots, soup, and root beer floats. All was good. The root beer floats were huge! The tater tots were crispy and probably the best I have ever had. The soup was Ivar's, can't go wrong there. The menu had quite a selection and enough choices to satisfy any group. Service was friendly. Place was clean.

After a week on Orcas Island we were happy to find this place. Good burgers and yummy fries (one basket of fries would have been good for us though...we bought 2 and the 5 of us probably would have been fine with just 1.) The prices were great, the service was quick and reasonable and the place was clean and cozy. Yes. The people working were a bunch of cute, teenage girls but my husband and I had no problem with "snotty attitudes" and were happy to be there (my 3 sons didn't seem to mind it either. Ha!) Plus, if you don't like their attitudes, you have the option of sitting in your car in the parking lot and ordering.

FILTHY! Absolutely, disgustingly filthy! The tables had chunks of food, and puddles of liquid on them, and this was after the busser had wiped them down. When i complained to the manager about the dirty tables, he asked what did i want him to do about it. I replied that I wanted him to clean them. He told me to go away. AWESOME! If i could put less than one star, I would.

blech. Thats all there is to say about this place. We got the charbroiled chicken sandwich which was anything but charbroiled. Bland microwaved taste, no salt, shredded lettuce (cafeteria anyone?!) and one single tomato. Hello?! No onion? No delicious blackened grill taste?! NO FLAVOR!?! We also got a side of onion rings... they were nice and crispy but also lacked salt. I swear, I would have been more satisfied eating at Jack in the Box... at least their overly processed food tastes good.

Really good burgers and amazing waffle fries. The French Dip was pretty good, but the burgers are better. Pretty big menu for such a small place. Cheese curds are awesome.
