I had a good hike on the Worcester range today and felt famished so my hiking partner and I headed down to see if some fondue would cure our appetite. We both got a cheese fondue and it was fantastic! Just what I needed. Very flavorful. We shared a chocolate fondue to top it off. I wanted to lick the bowl, but I didn't feel appropriate. The owner Heinz is friendly and outgoing and you certainly feel like you could be in the Swiss alps. I can't wait to come back here after a day on the slopes.

I was in the mood for seafood and my husband was in the mood for beef so after seeing shrimp and filet fondue on the menu we decided to try this restaurant and were so glad we did! We enjoyed the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, the fondue sauces were tasty, and chocolate fondue for dessert was perfect. It's kind of expensive, but worth it.

We LOVED this place! The food was fantastic, perfect after a day on the slopes. The service was great, atmosphere just right and did I mention how delicious the food and wine was!! It didn't hurt that Heinz chatted with us and made sure we were taken care of. A must stop in Stowe!

Also known as "Crepes by Heinz". If your a local you know Heinz has been making Crepes and Fondue for years.. He just needed his own space! Right on Main St in the village of Stowe Heinz has recreated a little piece of the Alps! The Crepes are delicious and just as they should be.. Light and delicate with a choice of several fillings! Not on the menu ( but available by request) is Bananas Foster! Several tables for 6 or more and seating @ the bar where you can watch your crepe being made!

Just enjoyed a marvelously charming and unique luncheon with Heinz! Everything we ate was delicious: the vichyssoise especially, and the tenderloin crepe and shrimp Tasso crepes were perfectly seasoned. The strawberry rhubarb crepe reminded me of my childhood and early summer pies. I think the portion sizes are just right. Heinz was gracious and kind as a host. This afternoon felt like a little slice of alpine European bliss:). Thank you so much!

Great little slice of Switzerland tucked away in Stowe. Ambience, music, and menu, and Heinz actually comes out and visits with the customers, more than just a table pass. The bread was perfect for the cheese fondue. The Raclette was so good, we got seconds. I only wish we could get the crepes at night as well. Good German beer to wash it all down was the clincher.

My husband and I have been coming to Stowe for 20 years. We saw this restaurant and thought why not? We'll the vicysoise was excellent. The crepes were superb and we even found room for the decadent chocolate crepe dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant. He in is a delight and his staff is very attentive. I've never had crepes this thin!!! Without a doubt we're going back. A little pricey but well worth it. Read the menu before you go in.

3 for lunch driving from Burlington, VT down to Stowe on a Fri afternoon. Saw mentioned on Yelp, and then saw it as we were driving in, so we decided to be adventurous. We arrived just before closing (around 155) and were met by Heinz in the parking lot, who introduced himself to the 3 of us and asked if we were coming for lunch. When we answered "yes", he turned around and went back inside (btw, we had no idea at the time that he was planning on closing in 5 minutes). We told him we were interested in something relatively light as we were supposed to be having a big dinner Fri night. He suggested the vichyssoise for starters, followed by the beef fondue "chinoise" along with the house salad. He also suggested that we try a beer that he recommended. Suffice it to say "Yummmm" ... the soup was perhaps the best example of vichyssoise that i'd ever had, the beef, cooked in a Chinese broth rather than the typical hot oil, was light and flavorful and accompanied by 4 sauces that were prepared in the restaurant (horseradish, tartar, cognac and (best of all for me) mustard, and the salad had a great dressing on it ... oh, and the beer was terrific. Worth the drive, and worth the price (this is not an inexpensive place). Heinz is very personable, and the lovely waitress was sweet and helpful. Recommended for those who like an authentic feeling of a European lunch.

After reading some of the reviews we almost didn't go to Swiss Fondue - the loss would have been ours. It's wonderful fondue - we had the cheese and the shrimp - Started with a bowl of the soup (we shared) oh so yummy - the salad was delicious and I don't know what size dinner salads other reviewers are use to - but the salad was a nice size and not full of just iceberg lettuce. Plenty of bread with our cheese fondue and 10 shrimps with our shrimp fondue, accompanied with four delightful sauces. Talking with the owner is the plus and when he served up a Bananas Foster (not on the menu) we were sure we were in heaven. If you want ordinary this place is not for you - those who appreciate a unique dining experience and atmosphere - don't miss Swiss Fondue. We didn't think the prices were out of line - about $25.00 for each fondue - we didn't have any crepes - but oh they looked delicious and prices started around $7.00. Excellent service just topped off the night!

After posting the review, my daughters told me the apple and Brie crepe had apples that seemed to be canned apples, not fresh, with almost no Brie so I think only 2 stars

Tasty fondue for an apres ski treat! We made a reservation in advance, which was a good idea because it's small and had a crowd on Saturday night. There were still a couple of tables available though. We had the cheese fondue and beef fondue. Both were yummy. The beef was quality beef. The apple cider and wines we had were very nice, and we appreciated the house salads included with the fondue. Heinz came to every table to check on us. Very enjoyable experience; would return!

A while back I stopped into Black Cap Coffee on a day that Heinz was making crepes. While driving by another day, I noticed the Swiss Fondue sign now includes the same famous name and I decided to drop in for lunch. When I was finished and awesome filet and onion crepe, Heinz came to my table and said "you should come back for dessert crepes". When I asked how late he stayed open he said "it doesn't matter. Sometimes 8, sometimes 9, I'm open until whenever people feel like leaving. I love Heinz's attitude, his attention to his customers, and the relaxing atmosphere he has created in this little gem downtown Stowe.

Always looking for something different. This is it. Went for lunch on a summer afternoon. Attracted as much by a parking lot in busy downtown Stowe than anything else. Was greeted by Heinz in the parking lot lot and when I asked if he was open, of course. The menu for crepes was reasonable with something for everyone. They were huge. We had the potato leek soup which was fabulous. We finished with a huge Chocolate crepe, also fabulous. No one needed dinner that night. The only score down was that the wine had clearly been open a day or two and was oxidized. But the service and food amazing. Highly recommend.

So great. Heinz cares so much about his customers. Worth every penny. You will eat slow, savor good conversation and enjoy yourself. You won't regret taking time out.

I really wanted to like this place. I have great memories of Stowe's former fondue restaurant, The Swiss Pot which close several (or maybe more) years ago. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with Swiss Fondue By Heinz. The cheese fondue itself was fine. It tasted like a high quality fondue. But I was highly disappointed with the fact that this very expensive meal included only bread (many fondue places give you vegetables and even fruit) to dip into the fondue and that the amount of fondue given to us for a table of four seemed very small and exactly the same size as was given to the people sitting at a table near us who ordered the same meal for two. Given the extremely high price, we expected a lot more. We all left hungry and ended up buying ice cream across the street. It was a disappointment, and I don't think we'll be coming back.

Family of 5 - been coming to Stowe since the early 90's....Raising our kids to love and treasure this town. We drove for 3 hours from Boston and wanted to do something fun with our 12, 9 and 4 year olds after they had driven us nuts on the ride up with "energy"....Called up Heinz and booked a table for 5 at 6pm. Perfect opening activity to start a Stowe weekend off right. We entered and were immediately greeted by Heinz. We ordered 3 beef - 2 shrimp and 1 cheese fondue - a tiny bit too much for the 5 of us but we still ordered a chocolate fondue to polish it all off....I read some prior negative comments and I offer the following thoughts: To the person who said that the people on the phone were hard to understand: YOU need to understand that you have kind hard working people from different countries trying to deliver a superior food experience in Stowe - a little language gap is not worth a cruel comment. To the person who thought it was too expensive: his prices are posted and they are well worth the price. Next time pay attention to the menu before you order. And to the person who insulted Heinz's wife: They married a few years ago after Heinz found his home in Stowe almost ten years ago - a long way from his homeland of Switzerland. This place is phenomenal - fun - amazing food and best of all, authentic-from-central-casting-Swiss-Alps Heinz delivering customer service in a beautiful manner. Enjoy!!!!

Food was very poor in taste, the raclete was an insult, the cheese fondue lack taste and heat. This is not a restaurant that resembles the fondue or raclete.

Totally enjoyable experience! Chef Heinz greeted and checked on us to assure everything was to our liking. Highly recommend and look forward to returning the next time we find ourselves in Stowe.

We went here on Sunday around noon for a brunch of crepes tea and coffee. The owner Heinz was charming, friendly, and hopped behind the griddle to make us our tasty crepes. They were exactly what he described them as... Comfort food. We were lucky to be there at a less busy time. It was quiet and a great way to start our stroll through downtown Stowe. We encourage everyone to give it a try. We didn't have the fondue, but the crepes were textbook delicious.

Service was friendly, the owner greeted me personally and the ambiance was "cute." That's the only reason for two stars. The food was good but the portions were ridiculously petite! My wife and I both ordered two orders of the beef and shrimp fondue and all we received was a small salad, three thinly cut slices of beef and five medium sized shrimps each. I've had fondue before so I was presuming a starch and possibly some other veggies would come with the order. The bill came to about $57 with just the two entrees. I left there feeling hungry and ripped off. Seriously who spends $57 on lunch and leaves completely hungry. I stopped by the grocery store and brought a crappy $5 pre-made sandwich because I was still starving and I'm really skinny! If paying $25 for a small salad, 3 thins cuts of beef, and 5 shrimp combined with 4 tiny dipping sauces sounds appealing..then this is the place for you. P.S. Unless you are a Ethiopian bulimic bikini model pack a sandwich!

My husband and I were so excited to go have fondue but were ridiculously disappointed!! The only reason it got a star is because the place is quaint. The menu was very misleading! The prices don't reflect the portions. We ordered an appetizer of tenderloin, which could be better described as lunch meat, 5 slices of lunch meat! The "Swiss fondue" was bitter and devoid of flavor! For $100 you should walk away full and satisfied! We were starving and pissed! We do NOT recommend this place! It is sure to disappoint!

I read the other reviews and basically agree with the majority - very lovely food for a light meal, but do not expect to come out sated if you went in starving. It is definitely on the pricey side for what you get, but everything is absolutely luscious and prepared with great care. Heinz is a very gracious host, and really seems to want to have a personal contact with every individual who steps inside his door. The atmosphere is a bit over the top, but you are buying into it all when you go to Heinz. I loved my tasso shrimp crepes - a little spicy, and some of the most perfectly cooked shrimp I have ever had in my life. My boyfriend had the spinach and egg stuffed crepe (cannot remember the name), which was tangy and salty, and a bit more substantial as a meal. Each crepe came with a very small dressed salad that went well with the crepes. One warning - the place is warm! I don't know if they have any A/C units, but we were sweating away on a summer afternoon.

They took reservations which is important since it is such a small place. Very cozy atmosphere. The staff were very nice, Heinz himself came out to greet us. The selection was very limited. Cheese fondue to start, steak or shrimp as dinner, and chocolate as dessert. For a family of four we ordered one cheese to start, two beef filet dinners and one chocolate for dessert. They had no issues with us sharing and brought us extra bread and extra fruits for the cheese and chocolate fondue. I was disappointed that they did not have more vegetables and other meats for us to choose from. Its fun on a ski trip to always have one night of fondue!
