I am writing a review for both breakfast at Gables and Heinz fondue. The breakfast here is the best in town hands down. I always love staying here at the inn and having a delicious Vermont breakfast in the morning. The Vermont breakfast is my favorite but I try to rotate through the options because they are all delicious. Heinz fondue for dinner was an amazing treat. I had never had fondue before and this dinner makes me want to come back for more. The cheese fondue was great and comes from Switzerland. I had the beef and shrimp for dinner and it was so good. The chocolate fondue for dessert is not to be missed. Such a different dining experience if you have never done it before and a lot of fun! I believe it is by reservation only but definitely worth the call. Overall a great dining experience and a great meal!
I've been to this place for breakfast in the past and thought I'd stop in here for a quick breakfast but it was anything but quick. They were a bit busy at 10am and we stood on the porch and waited to be seated but after a few minutes, no one sat us, so we sat ourselves. The two waitresses working were not happy that we sat ourselves and proceeded to talk about our table--in front of us. One waitress even said, "they'll just have to wait" and wait we did. 20 minutes for our order to be taken, another 40 minutes for our food to arrive, 15 minutes to cash out. [we almost considered leaving but were too hungry to move] The only redeeming factor is that this place, like always, turns out delicious breakfast [4 stars for food, 1 star for service]. It's unfortunate that the service stinks here. This wasn't our 'hotel' but for those that stay over night here, your breakfast is included in your room rate.
Always a delicious breakfast, everything cooked to perfection. Quality plus! Very friendly staff....return every year, 2 to 3 times during our week stay in Stowe.

I've stayed at several bed and breakfast over the past several years and this is by far the nicest and comfortable one I've stayed at. It's a unique B & B where the rooms are Inn or small hotel style as they are separate from the living area. Tom and his breakfasts are amazing and the place really feels warm and welcoming. Hot tub was great, rooms clean and comfortable. Big beautiful fireplace that you never want to leave. I'd strongly recommend this B & B to anyone staying in the Stowe area. It's a real gem and has some interesting history as one of the original ski resorts in the Stowe area.
I was so excited to stay in a bed and breakfast in Vermont, and I'm so glad we chose the Timberholm Inn! We only stayed one night, and the other two nights we were camping, but if the day after we stayed wasn't already booked, we would have stayed two nights! I chose the Spruce room, because I loved how tiny and cozy it looked. It WAS really cozy; the beds were really comfortable and the sheets were so soft! I also liked the lamps & bookshelves. We were lucky that the night we stayed ended up getting pretty chilly for the first week of September, so we were able to go in the hot tub, yay!! (The rubber ducky and I quickly became friends.) The hot tub was on this little section of the back deck, and had really nice string lights all around. We really enjoyed the game/entertainment room downstairs and had fun playing with the bear and wolf checkers, and would have played scrabble or chess if we had more time... Sitting out on the deck at sunset was really nice, and I enjoyed the view of the mountains. I loved the oatmeal pancakes Tom made for breakfast, and enjoyed drinking coffee in the Timberholm Inn mugs. Oh, and the location of the B&B is on a really quiet road, but also close to everything going on in Waterbury and Stowe, which was great. The owners, Tom & Susan, were really nice and made us feel at home! I can't wait to come back again when we hopefully go back to Vermont for snowboarding later this Winter! (:
This was our first time staying at a B&B and overall the experience was absolutely wonderful. The room we stayed in was very quaint, clean, and offered beautiful views of the mountain. We stayed in the Buttercup Suite which is right next to the opening of the main living/dining room. My only complaint of this location is we stayed the weekend of a wedding and many of the people who were staying were part of the wedding. So when they came home late at night, they made a lot of noise closing and opening the doors and going up/down stairs. The house is old and noise does travel. Regardless of that, the owners of the Inn were extremely nice and warm. Rosie the dog was also a real treat and friend :) The breakfasts were also on point! By far one of the best French Toast meals I've had in a very long time. Food and coffee were fresh both mornings. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee on the outside deck early before breakfast was ready. We also took advantage of the down stairs TV room to watch college football, drink wine, and eat pizza from Piecasso's. The Inn is also set back to keep the privacy factor very nice but close to the downtown Stowe and Waterbury areas. Overall, would definitely come back and stay probably in an upstairs room to avoid the noise level.

Great pizza and a very friendly staff. Off the beaten path but worth the drive. I would recommend this to anyone who asked where to get good pizza. I live in the detroit are, where most pizza comes from chain restaurants. This is definitely better than that. Cant beat farm fresh and handmade.
Never knew this place was here. Great place for people looking for a fast grab on the go en route to 89 or wherever. I ordered a calzone -- not greasy, not too big, just right. Even the guy was very friendly. Thought it was odd I was the only woman there. Good place for construction workers or trade men to stop in?? Not a lot of seats...
Fast & friendly service. Pizza prices were reasonable, pizza toppings were fresh. Crust was the best I have had so far in Vermont. Salads seemed pricey for the small size, however, the buffalo chicken one I bought was well made and fresh. Easy to see how they stay in business!

We had an excellent meal at the Bistro. The food was wonderful, and the service was even better.
Awesome place !!!! They just recently started BRUNCH on Sundays. You have to go try it out for your self. Food was fantastic. You will not be disappointed . Can wait to come back to VT an go here again.
First time here...the pork shank and shrimp were awesome. The place was really warm and loved the colors and wide planked floors. Wish there was a dessert that didn't contain alcohol.

What a great experience! We called at the last minute on New Year's Day and got reservation at the Chef's Table, offering a view of the kitchen. We watched dish after dish come out, out with one looking better than the next! When the food came , we were not disappointed. We had great mazoh ball soup, moist chicken that was loaded with flavor, and fettucini that was outstanding. Dessert was chocolate mousse cake which was equally as good as a meal. Don't miss this great restaurant when you come to Stowe, and ask for the Chef's Table for a unique experience.
I highly recommend the soufflé with corn, mushrooms and smoked cheese. The calamari is smokey flavored from being grilled, which is nice. Also the banana pudding is really good and comes in a mason jar. You can take the jar with you along with the leftover pudding. The portion is huge. I ordered some side dishes instead of an entree. They were okay. My dinner-mates both had burgers which they liked. I wish there were more items on the menu but I will certainly return for the soufflé and pudding! Service was good. Everyone was friendly and our server checked in many times to make sure we were satisfied.
Warm and inviting dinning with the most incredible food and service! CA is alive and thriving in VT. If I lived in Stowe, I would NEVER cook!

I'm a Stowe regular and I can't believe it took me this long to find the best restaurant in town. Ambiance is cozy and charming. Food hits the perfect pitch from start to finish. And who makes all of their own desserts anymore? Makes a huge difference. Tony is a gifted restauranteur. His Italian background and passion really come alive in every aspect of the experience. Enjoy! Can't wait to go back.
This is a great place maybe the only real Italian restaurant in Stowe food & staff wow Old fashion cooking at its best ( somebody grandma know how to cook & bake )
By far, best restaurant in Stowe (I've been coming to Stowe since 1997, and always go to the Trattoria). My family has been to all of the restaurants in the area, which come and go- Trattoria has withstood the test of time in a very competitive market. My favorite dish is the duck. I'm an expert. I eat duck at every restaurant that I go to that offers it. Tony's duck is the best I've had. Patty's martinis are divine. The tiramisu is to die for. Bon Appetite!

Deli bakery!!!! Awesome repeat awesome breakfast sandwiches!!! Eggs from hens on site and rolls baked daily. Wet your throat with homemade beer - can't wait to see it in stores. Loved the dunkel! Sausage was not dry - very moist. Have / will continue to go here again and again.
Decided to hit up the Trapp Brewery after swimming at Bingham falls on a sunny afternoon. I've been meaning to go to this brewery for a while. We had a great time here. They have a great selection of Trapp beers and great outdoor seating with phenomenal views of the mountains. Very relaxing. Definitely a highlight of my vacation. You should definitely check this place out. The beers are phenomenal as well.
Went here one evening after swimming at a nearby waterfall and had a wonderful experience. I had been wanting to try these beers for a while and I was not disappointed. My sister and I were able to order our beers and enjoy them outside in the beer garden while overlooking a beautiful mountain view and watching the sunset. The Vienna style beer and the summer ale, the two types we tried, were delicious. We sipped on our drinks and took in the amazing view. The staff were helpful and never rushed us. They offer quite a variety of food options. We both really enjoyed our drinks and now understand why the Trapp brewery is rated one of the best in the world. I am so impressed and will be returning soon.

This B&B was wonderful! 4 of my friends and I decided to take a roadtrip and booked last minute but we still got a suite that fit all of us so comfortably and was so reasonably priced, I couldn't believe it!! I wasn't expecting much, but the place was really clean and the owners were so nice--they welcomed us as soon as we got there, showed us around, recommended a delicious place for dinner, and made us breakfast the next morning. They chatted with us for a while, while also being sure to give us our privacy. I would recommend that everyone stay here if you want a cozy, cute hotel!
When we walked into the sitting room at the Auberge, we were greeted by an old, friendly dog...then by an equally friendly cat. Friendly pets usually means friendly people and this is the case. Shawn and Chantal are lovely, personable people who actually take time to chat without becoming intrusive. Breakfast was lovely - good coffee, muffins, croissants, fruit, cereal and a frittata like cheese dish that included a few fiddleheads from Chantal's garden. She also makes her own jams, which are wonderful. The place is not new, this is true, and there's no TV in the rooms. But it's homey, clean and a good place to put your head after a busy day. There's a 'fridge to put beverages and glasses in the sitting room, so if you want to relax with a glass of wine, you can. The back yard encompasses Chantal's garden (gooseberries and black & red currants for the jam) and goes to a lovely brook. Given the ridiculous prices for other inns and B&Bs in Stowe, this one is a good find for the money. My only wish is that there were sidewalks along the road so as to be able to walk into town without getting run down on rte. 100.
Family of four stayed in the king suite. Perfect! The area with the king-sized bed is away from the front of the house, so very little road noise. No complaints from the boys in the front room. There was a 24" screen set up with Netflix, Amazon, and local channels, which was a nice touch. Innkeepers accommodated a slightly earlier than norm breakfast so we could get going. Croissant and homemade gooseberry jam were very yummy. Located close to a little downtown area of Stowe. Not luxurious, but comfortable, clean, affordable, and just what we needed.

Upon arrival, we kind of fell in love with the place. Our room was nice and large with a nice view, fireplace, and comfy bed. The bathroom was clean and had nice, fluffy towels. The included continental breakfast was very good - included breads, mini muffins, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee/tea. They also had an a la carte option each morning we were there, which I took advantage of! It was $5 for eggs with sausage/bacon, and the portions were PERFECT. Not huge or too small...just perfect. I loved that the inn is located on a hilltop close to trails and the main town areas. Also, the hot tub was a nice treat after a day of hiking up Smuggler's Notch to Sterling Pond.
There are many choices of places to stay in Stowe, and this one is in the middle of the pack in quality with very reasonable rates. The rooms were clean and decently appointed, without being fancy or high end. The bed was comfortable, and the linens and sheets had no smell to them, which I appreciate, as I dislike perfumed detergents. I liked the fact that the building is far off the road, so the place has a nice private feel to it. This is a casual family run establishment, with the owner's cute children "helping" in the dining room for breakfast, and a rather odiferous dog wagging his tail behind a gate as you check in. I mention these things because some people will not be charmed by them, and some have allergies (to dogs, not to children). The place has a rustic, lived in feel, and is surrounded by woods. I don't think anyone used the pool during our stay, but it looks nice enough, and, had the weather been warmer, I would have gone in. Breakfast is self serve and basic. Overall, a decent place to stay.
We've been traveling to Stowe for many years and somehow have never tried the Hob Knob. When I think of all the great meals we've missed! The food quality and portions are excellent. I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was beautifully charred on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. My wife ordered the NY Strip special that was topped with bacon and bleu cheese. It was fantastic. The spinach salad with warm maple vinaigrette dressing is to die for. This family-owned and operated Inn and restaurant features friendly service that matches the quality of the food. The service is attentive and accomodating without being pretentious. The dining room is tastefully decorated with a definite Vermont flair and features a beautiful view out its many windows. Our son is now going to school at Saint Michael's in Vermont, so we are looking forward to many great meals at the Hob Knob Inn.

Clam chowder was great, grilled cheese was spectacular and the flavor never got old or felt too heavy (like some grilled cheeses can), and the chicken salad was delicious and nut-free! A real bonus for me. I wish we could have tried everything. If I lived up there, I'd go back all the time.
I've been here twice. The first time was February and the place was packed. Service was slow. Food was unremarkable. Altogether an uncomfortable experience. But I figured, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and a second chance. This time, mid-summer. Mid-afternoon. Still blah food. Higher than expected prices. Slow service. Cramped dining room. There are so many better options in Stowe. Steer clear of this one.
Awesome service - delicious food. 6 kinds of coffee. We ordered the Greek omelette and it was incredible - fresh, filled with spinach, feta, tomato and kalamata olives . They have gluten free toast (yay) and I got a GF cookie too! The people at the table beside us were raving about their granola - great local spot and worth the visit for breakfast (much more tasty than the green Mountain Inn next door)
