Had dinner at the Phoenix last night and what a wonderful experience! Very roomy, clean and inviting atmosphere. Food was delicious!

We went here for dinner not too long ago and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. At first, I looked at the menu with a bit of speculation, but as soon as I tasted what they had to offer, I was sold. Their food might not be your normal bar style, but that doesn't stop them from being delicious. If you're not a drinker, I highly recommend their root beer on tap and their Lamb Meatballs were excellent. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, great food.

Great upbeat place to get a drink and enjoy a meal with friends. Fresh oysters! Little on the loud side, so, not great for a working lunch or dinner.

Amazing Meal! Chef is super creative focusing on local, fresh ingredients putting a modern spin on classics. Thoroughly enjoyed sharing small plates of rabbit livers wrapped in bacon, oysters, clams with chorizo, kale and potatoes, lamb meatballs, and squash and swiss chard tamales. Thanks to bartender Jonathon for great drinks and service!

It's off season and we didn't have high hopes of an awesome meal. How wrong we were! Cherrystones a nd Oyster app was yum. But the carpacchio was AMAZING. The soft she'll crab Po boy was believable but could have used some heat. The BLAT was orgasmic. Got sides of kale and grits then key lime pie desert. Will Def be back!

Extremely disappointed in the experience at Phoenix. I had wanted to try it for months and finally got there last Friday night with my husband. We waited about 5 minutes at the hostess stand before someone came over to greet us. He was very nice but had to wait for his daughter (the apparent hostel) to seat us. We waited another couple minutes for her when she showed up she didn't even acknowledge us and kept whispering to her father and the three servers that were now at the hostess stand. She finally told her father to seat us anywhere...rude... and walked away. We were seated at an awkward half round bench table where we uncomfortable sat next to each other and looked at the other tables. The father nicely came and gave us water and then 10 minutes went by without a single other interaction with any staff. We got up and left. I wish I could comment on the food but I never got the chance to eat anything. It seems there is a lack of communication within the hostess department and I pretty much blame the whole bad experience on her... it might be fun to entertain the idea of running a restaurant but its hard work and you must be a people person. Kudos to the waitress who suggested to the hostess that she seat us and then was told she already had a table seated that she was not aware of... same thing probably happened to us. Plus, if a restaurant in Stowe is not at least 2/3 of the way full on a Friday night at 6:30 it seems people have given up on it... I don't see them lasting very long if their service continues to push people away.

First time having dinner at this place. I was always hesitant because I had heard mixed reviews. But I have to say my whole family and I were so impressed! I don't do oysters but the fam ordered two rounds of them and throughly enjoyed them. We got the ceviche, spring rolls, Mac and cheese and lamb meatballs to keep the momentum going. And everyone either ordered the Baja burrito or individual tacos. I got a Carne asada taco as well as a chicken taco. It was all pretty amazing! Freshly made corn Tortillas were a great detail. A couple of coconut cream pies and a chocolate mousse later, everyone was happy. I didn't indulge in dessert since I've given up sugar. But it all looked amazing! The decor was great, service was friendly. Overall great experience, will be back again for sure!

Had a really nice time for Saturday brunch. The inside was totally empty with a couple and another family seated outside, so we sat outside. We weren't sure what to make of it since it was so quiet, but then we saw the beer list and menu and got excited. They had Hermit Thrush Brattlebeer on tap and I had a can of Heady. Good start. Then the food came out. She got the pancakes with an orange and cinnamon butter that made the dish. I got the pork belly benedict and was not disappointed. Some savory, some heat, and the eggs were poached perfectly. Pleasantly surprised by the Phoenix and will look for it if we are ever in the area again!

Great Bar! Fairly new restaurant for. The owner has created other restaurants in Stowe, including the now defunct, Blue Moon Cafe. The entree selections are a bit unusual and unique for Vermont, like Shrimp and Grits? Lamb Meatballs? If you enjoy raw oysters then without a doubt this is the place to go. Nice setting. Looking forward to a new menu. :-)

We had just rolled into Stowe and were in the mood for some dinner. The tourist map of the town we picked up was like totally not drawn to scale, so we thought it would be a good idea to walk up the recreation path alongside Mountain Road looking for a place to eat. An hour later after walking three or so miles it was pitch black outside, so we stumbled into this place and cried uncle. I'm a sucker for any place that has the word farm and/or table in it, preferably decorated with a lot of light wood wood and brushed aluminum and hopefully also with an emphasis on "local ingredients", so I was set up to enjoy this joint even before the long-ass walk just beforehand made me grateful to have anything at all. I had the shrimp and grits, which were solid, the lemon-tinged grits being the star of the plate. The SO really, really enjoyed her dish, which also included the same grits plus kale, a poached egg, and a hefty dose of chanterelle mushrooms; she's a vegetarian and so goes kina gaga over any place that does more than some lame veggie burger. Sometimes when you're in a little resort town like Stowe, you get tired of the same old comfort food classics that every place seems to serve, and Phoenix would definitely fit the bill if you're in the mood for a little twist.

Sat at the bar and ordered a bunch of appetizers and from the raw bar. The oysters were a sample of 3 different varieties which were delicious and fresh. Lamb meatballs were absolutely delicious and the tamales of the day was awesome (Kale, brisket, red pepper) topped with red and green sauce. The salt cod fish balls were good but nothing special. Very nice cocktail, beer, and wine menu. The staff was also very nice, welcoming, and helpful.

Some aspects were worth five stars and others three. Parties of two were sat at little round tables that were at awkward angles and too small. We weren't given appetizer plates and our dinner plates were left for a long time. The duck spring rolls didn't really bring the duck flavor across, but were still amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection, but the tuna was lacking - perhaps a low quality grade? The vegetables and potatoes were delicious though. Plus they had copper mugs and Topper. Solid four stars. Would definitely go there again.

Three of us had dinner tonight and it was pretty good. The ambience is interesting and cool. Service was nice. My app was fried tofu in a coconut curry that was very good. The lobster bisque was a little different than I'm used to but not bad. The fried cod burrito was not bad. The shrimp and grits were good. Coconut creme pie was ok. I hope the restaurant does well because I think the menu is clever and the decor is progressive. The flavors of the food is the only thing holding me back from giving this nice place four or five stars.

Our worst meal in Stowe. Sorry but there are so many better restaurants. We were seated and waited AN HOUR & A HALF after ordering for our meal. We had older kids with us and it was early - why does everything take so long? It was not busy, there were empty tables, but general hustle and bustle .... wait staff seems haggered - over nothing. The kale salad was overdressed, salty and had so much lemon it made us all pucker, meatballs were ok, a little dry - but we were so hungry at this point who cares. The rest of the meal is too "meh" to even type the review....don't bother.

Awesome. This place is great. We came in on a Thursday night. Every place else in town was dead. This place was hopping. We were seated right away. The staff were friendly. The drinks were good. I decided to order something different and got the fried chicken with waffle dish they have. It was sooo good. The portion was perfect. I left feeling full. It had GREAT flavor. Really cool atmosphere. The lighting, music.. Everything was great. Glad we stopped by while visiting Stowe :)

A newer restaurant, but apparently a very experienced and local chef has opened this fresh restaurant. Great place, go by all means. Reasonable prices and good servings. Wide variety, Vegetarian fare as well. Nice place.

Phenominal! Creative! Fresh! New! Delicious! This young restaurant was a completely refreshing, fulfilling and welcome experience in creative dining! A fabulous menu that should satisfy any foodie. A staggeringly full bar with some wonderful beer options. ( I recommend having a 'Heady Topper') a brilliant brew! I had a difficult time making my choices from the menu because everything sounded so good. 1st, Blistered Shashito peppers with an anchovy aioli. Unbelievably flavorful and exciting app. Who knew? Just great. 2nd fresh greens salad with vinaigrette. A light tasty palette cleanser. Bright and sharp. 3rd the Harissa marinated steak. Very flavorful, very tender, cooked to a perfect medium rare. Served with roasted potatoes and a fresh Chimichurri sauce. Excellent! What was the true shocker? That was their French Fries! Once I had one shared from a fellow diner, I had to get an order for myself! With a lovely piece of steak on my plate, I ate the fries instead!!! Who does that?! They were just so darn good! I highly recommend this place to anyone trying to find the tastiest food in Stowe. Fair prices, excellent service. No disappointments! I wish we had a place like this closer to home! AAA++++

Don't eat here if you're a vegetarian and you have an appetite beyond that of a supermodel's. For 6.75, you too can have a giant bowl that dwarfs the 3 miniscule pieces of tofu contained therein. That plus the side of lukewarm black beans made this place a complete turnoff. Find somewhere else in Stowe.

Went here for dinner and it was great. Service was spot on, staff was friendly, food was fast, hot and delicious. We came with our 4 year old and the server was very accommodating with the menu. The restaurant itself was clean and busy. We ordered a bunch of different items, and our favorites were the tamales, side of kale, lamb meatballs and coconut pie. Would go back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I went here for a kid free night out. The decor is AMAZING and super impressive. I really love what they did with everything inside. Our food however was very bland in my opinion. We got the crispy tofu, which was okay, but only 3 tiny pieces. I got the BLAT pork belly sandwich. I was hoping for some spice or something since I saw chili sauce on the menu. The slaw was also almost tasteless. I have to give them credit for freshness though. Everything was very fresh and well prepared, but they need to kick things up a notch. My husband liked his salmon, but it wasn't memorable flavor-wise. I'm a small person and I left hungry. Give it a try. It is a good place and I hope they stay there, but order more food and maybe order something that sounds spicy is you like bold flavors. You will be hungry. Service was great.

We could not wait for Phoenix Table and Bar to open and we finally made it in last night. Excellent! Great atmosphere with lots of room and friendly people having fun. Harissa marinated steak was out of this world. Just like all of Jack Pickett's places, We will be back again and again. Bravo!

Had lunch here recently. The 'blat' (vermont porkbelly, lettuce, tomato, avocado and chili mayonnaise) was probably one of the best sandwiched I have ever eaten. My wife had the crispy oyster poboy - it was OK. Hence the 4 stars. Will definitely do this again.

Beautiful restaurant in the old Gracie's spot. We found this to be a very warm and welcoming space that we were in no hurry to leave. Wonderful drinks, salads, appetizers. Plenty of veg options. The braised mushroom entree was fantastic! Made-in-house apple dumplings with coffee drinks was a spectacular ending to a long, wonderful day in Stowe.

We have now gone to the Pheonix a handful of times, and I would say it evens out to a steady 4-star place. We nearly always go during lunch or early dinner hour, so we have never had to wait to be seated and the place has been pretty empty with just a few servers on the floor. Service is usually very good. On our last stay the server paid us no attention, never telling us the specials and not checking on our table. They are typically very friendly and prompt to refill drinks. Food is a bit more hit-or-miss. We have tried the lamb meatball appetizer, which are deliciously spicy with a nice tart tzatziki sauce, but the meatballs were quite greasy. We frequently order a special, which usually are quite good but a bit quirky for those looking for a more traditional menu. For items on the regular menu, we both love the steak with chimichurri sauce, but it will leave you with a strong garlic breath. The meat marinade is sweet and tangy, but the cut of meat has been grisly on occasion. The burger is pretty standard fare, but served on a brioche bun that is nice and sturdy, holding up to the juicy patty. In terms of the sides, I have found I do not care for the slaw after giving it two attempts. I has way too much vinegar and burns my tongue. We have only ordered desserts once, and they were both very sweet and rich (frozen mocha cake and ice cream sundae). Finally, the atmosphere is very modern, open, and airy. We are not hipsters, nor people who go in for a bar scene, yet still feel very comfortable in this place. I also love there is just one TV screen over the bar, keeping down the distractions. On a final note - be prepared to spend money here and not necessarily coming away with leftovers for another day. The portions are perfect - not too big, nor too small. But at the price of 35 dollars for a small steak with a side of red potatoes, it is pricey. In addition, be prepared to have to pay additional for sides like fries or slaw, though these are often included in some of the specials. For a typical meal of just entrees and non-alcoholic drinks we usually have a bill between 40-50 dollars for the two of us.

Sometimes it all comes together. Bright fun decor with a nod to the region, menu of improved-upon favorites from the great American melting pot, and knowledgeable staff with great sense of timing. Bar is VERY well-stocked and includes regional specialties. You had me at the bartender adroitly explaining how they make own tonic syrup using cinchona bark and lemongrass. Yes, but you would definitely feel fine coming in apres-ski as the banquettes look like heaven for tired legs!

I didn't love it. With another couple who selected this place for dinner. Pretty limited, eclectic menu. Not much for 2 16 y.o boys with us. Shrimp with grits? Chicken and waffles? Umm. Ok because they were starving. Salt cod hush puppies? Be honest, they are fish cakes! Good slaw with fish and chips special, but fries were under 2 nice pieces of fish, which might be why they were soggy. I didn't bother. Service ok. I would not return.

I may write a longer review with more details later, but the short answer as to whether or not to try this new restaurant is, JUST GO. After about a week in Stowe, we opted to eat here two nights in a row after having our first meal on our next to last night. Creative menu of casual dishes with fresh ingredients, great service, stylish decor and best margarita I've had anywhere. GO!

After not being able to get a table at "THE Stowe eatery", we stumbled upon Phoenix. It is a large restaurant with a great small scene vibe. The service was excellent - fast, friendly, yet professional. The menu was a bit small, until our server came over and shared with us ALL of the specials! Wish we could have seen the specials on a chalkboard or menu insert because there were so many! The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for Stowe. Great wine list - however they serve in stemless wine glasses which I don't particularly enjoy. The food had great flavor & was prepared with innovative ingredients. We would love to go back here again and sample even more!

Jack is back. After the very succesful run of Frida's on Main St. Jack Pickett has opened Phoenix Table and Bar on the Mountain Road. This is a well appointed slighly playfull approach to a considerable dining experience. My brother and I split an appetizer of roasted small peppers with an anchovey aiolli. It felt like the first warm day of spring and we had the crispy oyster poorboy with a pint of Oakshire Watershed IPA. While we concentrated on a lighter meal, it was obvious that larger plates were availanle. The menu in this season is small but varied, well conceived and well executed. The staff is accomodating and well informed. Jack takes a personal interest in the house and it felt like old home day. In summer it looks like there is plenty of outdoor space. The Phoenix has lots to crow about!

We had dinner, and each dish was delicious, though portions were a bit large. They combine unusual combinations of flavors, even in "comfort food" dishes. I recommend the tamales or the buttermilk chicken. And for dessert, the hazelnut panna cotta and coconut cream pie. Ambience is very nice--modern but comfy and fairly quiet though it's a large place. You may need to wait for a table but it's worth the wait.

Waitress great. Happy atmosphere. Food inferior. Chicken with waffle was awful. Veggie burger ok. Slaw fair. Okra- what was that- okra or pickle? In any case, bland. Cod hush puppies greasy. Three specials were too strange to consider.

We recently had my son's wedding rehearsal dinner here and I cannot say enough about the place. Yes the food was fabulous... the hor d'oeuves were fantastic: lamb meatballs, scallops wrapped in bacon, crab cakes, oysters and more! all so good. Dinner was a selected choice of swordfish, grilled skirt steak and pasta primavera; everyone raved about all three. And the roasted vegetables were to die for. Kudos to Josh the chef and for helping us with the selections and to Jack who helped us pick out some great wines and making sure we had the right selection of beers. If you are thinking of planning a party I have to speak to how easy these gentlemen made the planning for us. I live out of state and was able to work almost entirely by e-mail with these guys to plan this dinner. They gave us a beautiful room with adjoining outdoor deck with access to the lawn and lawn games for our party. We were able to move about freely for a fabulous cocktail hour followed by private seating in a spacious well decorated room. The table was set up family style with nice flower arrangements, allowing us all to feel a part of the celebration. As a bonus surprise there was a simple, yet totally special, menu printed with the bride and groom's name on it. We were never rushed, in fact were told "you tell us when you want things, it"s your night" and totally enjoyed our time with family! The food was fantastic, the setting was beautiful, working with Jack and Josh was so easy and pleasant and yes I have to add the price was great too. Even with my crazy family going off selection and enjoying the Moscow Mules ( I have my husband to thank for starting that ... which by the way are served in a thru/thru copper mug) I stayed on budget.... a very reasonable budget!

What a huge disappointment. We were so looking forward to the opening, and our experience was disappointing for so many reasons. We all had burgers which were overpriced and certainly not worth the money. Could not believe that you had to pay for an order of fries. Our server was slow, and the bus boy was so seriously in a rush to clear the table, he was removing plates before we were finished eating. With so many, other good choices would not waste my time with this restaurant.

there were 6 in our party for dinner and we sat there for almost 2 hours.... while other tables near us had sat, ate and left! A place this large should be able to accommodate 6 at one table no? The Tamales, fish and potato in corn husks,..... well how do I put this? The fish, if there were any there was overwhelmed by the potato so that was a disaster! The steak was served ON TOP OF the fries....???? who wants soggy fries? Another dish had fried fish and the coating was completely soggy (not crisp like it should be). Plus we could hardly see our plates it was so dark. No candles and lights not positioned over table? Just all around not a good experience. There are many dishes that are very tasty but this is a wake up call for the owners to pay more attention. Too many new restaurants opening up in Stowe.

We held a meeting in Stowe and needed reservations for 175 on a Monday night. Phoenix Table and Bar opened for our group and accommodated 50 people in two 30 minute increments. Tables were no larger than 10 and the service was outstanding throughout. Our attendees raved about the food. Very pleased with our experience and recommend Phoenix for large groups meeting in Stowe.

Lovely place, good food/service/atmosphere. Can get lost in the appetizer menu. Muscles were great, lamb meatballs unusual and delicious, tacos unusual and delicious. The menu is diverse -- could easily come back again and again. Son had the duck spring rolls on a different night. Loved them, too. Only thing I didn't like: the chairs were a bit hard for a long, relaxed, enjoyable dinner and dessert.

I couldn't say better things about this place. The menu was something as varied and delicious as something I'd find in downtown Boston. I ordered a burger, and topped it with a fried egg, cheddar, and bacon and it was delicious. My boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich. I took a bite and almost wished I had ordered that instead (which I will definitely order if we get back there). The fries were great, and came with this malt vinegar aioli which I couldn't get enough of. Our drinks were also great. I got the Orange Crush cocktail, which was delicious and strong, and my boyfriend got the New Fashioned. We were both really impressed. We also were fans of the decor and atmosphere.

Had an amazing dinner. The kale salad was perfectly massaged and the chunks of avocado and toasted pumpkin seeds were truly tasty! The special was softshell crab sandwich- haven't had a sandwich this good in years. The new menu has so many great choices. If you haven't been this year, your in for a treat! As Arnold says"I'll be BACK"

We've eaten here twice and both times the meals have been very good. The staff is friendly and attentive. I really liked the fact that it is right on the bike path and they have outdoor seating. I know we will be eating here many more times...
