Went for breakfast today with my husband. The food deserves 5 stars, it was delicious. I had the apple bacon pancake and my husband had the traditional eggs benedict with a side of home fries and mini pancake with strawberries. Both were delicious. My husband says the pancake was the highlight of the meal for him, but everything was very good. My apple bacon was the perfect mix of sweet and savory and the perfect portion as I didn't feel too stuffed after eating it, but also didn't want to eat anymore. I take off one star for service. When we entered, there was no hostess to greet us. It was about 5 minutes before ourselves and two other groups who were waiting were noticed by a waitress who went to find the hostess, and another 5-10 minutes before we were seated. It was busy there, which I completely understand, but a hostess shouldn't be away from their post that long. Other than that, it was quite a wait for food after ordering, but worth the wait. Our waitress was kind and friendly and helped me decide between the apple bacon and banana/chocolate/coconut. Her description made me choose the apple bacon and I am very happy with that choice. Will return in the future. If you come here, make sure you have some time. This is not a rush in and rush out establishment. Enjoy!

Of Dutch ancestry but married to a French woman, I prefer French crepes over these Dutch pancakes--but the meal was fine. On a Sunday morning, we walked down the hall from our room in the Grey Fox Inn and were seated immediately at a table on the covered open air patio. Our waitress promptly arrived and offered us coffee or juices. We gave our order for 4 different varieties of the pancakes and knowing that crepe cooking is a labor of individualized preparation we settled into conversation and coffee drinking while waiting for the arrival of our order. Our breakfast was served in a reasonable amount of time (the cafe had at least 6 other families present) and each serving was warm and tasty. Our only disagreeable moments were the arrival and departure of a loud family of disagreeable foreigners from one of the nearby states, the one reachable by ferry. This ignorant, uncouth, obese family apparently expected Bisquick On Tap.

First time here...long wait for everything...the food looks good but its not great. I had the Apple and Cinnamon pancakes with sunnyside up eggs and bacon. It was good. My boyfriend had the Ham and Cheese omelette with roasted potatoes and plain pancake with strawberries on top. He thought it wasn't so great...The omelette had more cheese than egg and the potatoes just tasted like oil(I tried them) and the menu said the pancake came with a strawberry filling but it didn't. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be coming back.

This nice little restaurant, inside of the Grey Fox Inn, served up some awesome breakfast/brunch options with sweet and/or savory Dutch pancakes! Service was very friendly, coffee was somewhat passable, and the food was excellent!! If you're in Stowe looking for some good grub, do yourself a favor and stop by for the foot-across pancakes! Definitely take advantage of the Yelp Deal while it lasts!

We decided to try this place when we saw the Yelp $10 for $20 deal. The food was fine, quite good, but I felt that it was expensive and I would have been very unhappy if I didn't have the Yelp deal. Our bill was $34.00 for two people. We did not order a ton of food. I had a Dutch pancake with sausage, cheese and egg. It was large and tasty. My guy got the eggs Benedict breakfast special. He enjoyed it too, but it was $13.50. Pricey for breakfast. Our server was very sweet and helpful. I guess the price is to be expected in a tourist area, so be prepared!

I was in Vermont for a ski trip and wanted to get some vermont syrup along with some tasty pancakes before I left. A buddy and I decided to check out this place on a Sunday morning before we had to head out for our flight back home. The restaurant is located inside of one the many inns in the Stowe area. Luckily when we arrived, there wasn't a wait so we were immediately seated. The menu is composed of mainly different types of Dutch pancakes which are thinner pancakes kind of like the thickness of a crepe. The menu also has regular pancakes as well as other traditional breakfast items such as eggs and bacon. However, it is called Dutch Pancake Cafe so we decided to get Dutch pancakes. Our server took a few minutes to come greet us and bring us water. The restaurant was pretty full but only had 2 servers so they were pretty understaffed given the conditions. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat since they have both sweet and savory pancakes. So, I decided to get one of each of course. I went with the banana chocolate chip pancake and the corned beef hash with egg pancake, both Dutch style. Once we ordered, we waited over 30 minutes for our food to come out which was definitely a stretch since we were going straight to our flight and had to ask for our check as soon as the food came. The banana chocolate chip pancake was delicious with both the bananas and chocolate chips cooked inside. Also, it came with some powdered sugar on top which was a nice touch. As for the other pancake, the egg was all lumped together in one giant patch with the corned beef hash scattered around it. This pancake was a little more on the bland side and it would have been better if the egg had actually been scattered throughout the pancake. The pancakes themselves are massive and one by itself definitely is filling. I couldn't even finish both pancakes and am used to eating big breakfasts! The overall experience was not worth the long wait given that I spent over $25 on two pancakes and I only enjoyed 1 of them. If I come back to Stowe, I would come back to this place and hopefully have a short wait and only get a sweet Dutch pancake because that was quite good. They need to work on the service though because we had to flag down other servers just to refill our waters and get our check since we ended up being in a rush given the long wait time.

Authentic as it gets. Don't understand anything less than five stars for this place. If you like grand slam breakfast go to Denny's

Hands-down the best pancakes ive ever had! One of the sweet Dutch pancakes and one of the savory and both of them were incredible.

Went here today with my mom and sister after seeing reviews & pictures. The real thing did not disappoint. We had the banana & walnut pancake, strawberry chocolate creme pancake, and the Sweet Angel (chocolate chips and angel butter). The pancakes were delicious (and we all probably have diabetes now). Our server was very friendly and kept our coffee cups full. The Yelp coupon was a nice bonus, too. We are seriously considering another visit here before we leave town.

The Dutch pancakes were awwwesome. The service was good. They were constantly roaming around filling cups with coffee and water. Polite. Kind. Social. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette ...forgot the actual name of it but comes with a Dutch pancake with strawberry filling. Very good and very filling. The omelette was very filled and stuffed with Ham and cheese. The reason I took a star off is because the coffee was 3.25. That's very high for coffee that's diner quality. It wasn't great coffee and border line Good. I would have expected 1.95 for that coffee. But kept the stars at 4 because it's not a place I would not return to. The food was good borderline great. The strawberry butter is awesome according to my wife. I trust her taste with food. Enjoy!!

I wish I had checked all the bad reviews this place got before we went in. Our first (and only) experience here was horrible!!! The staff appeared extremely confused. We waited a loooong time for our breakfast and the food was NOT hot when we got it. Part of my order was scrambled eggs with cheese and what I got instead was something that did not even resemble scrambled eggs. Our little one had to ask three times for her chocolate milk. The only good food was the pancake I ordered and, yes, that was delicious. Here's the kicker: the bill came and I almost fell out of my seat. There were only three of us (2 adults and a child) and, had we tipped what the restaurant suggested, it would have been $78. . . YUP, you heard right. Without a tip it was still over $60!!! For breakfast???? And especially a breakfast that was not good. I could not help but ask the waitress about the ludicrous price, explaining that I knew it was not her fault. Predictably, she said there was nothing she could do. I asked for a supervisor and that proved to be a waste of time. The supervisor was extremely defensive and irritated, telling us she had to "keep moving." I asked her if they had other people complaining about prices and she said "hardly ever", a blatant LIE when you read all the other reviews this place has gotten. She did tell the waitress to give us a 25% discount to keep us happy. We were still NOT happy as she, a supervisor who should know better, totally lacked an understanding of how to deal with paying customers!!! The staff needs "customer service" training, the chef needs some culinary skills, and the management needs lessons in not "ripping people off". Horrible place - horrible price - horrible experience.

What a great breakfast! If you're having breakfast in Stowe, this is the place. The servings are more than expected and delicious for such a large selections of entrees. Service is also friendly. You can't go wrong with any of the choices. Enjoy!

Great place for a delicious, filling breakfast! Was overwhelmed with choices so went with the waitress' recommendation of the cinnamon apple pancake. It was super tasty, fresh and huge! Our table ordered a mix of items that I also tasted - lemon butter, blueberry banana, maple pecan...all delicious, all huge! I've never been to any place like the Dutch Pancake House, but I wish I lived closer to Stowe because I would go every weekend if I did!

I purchased the Yelp coupon and had the Dutch Pancake with blueberry butter which was phenomenal. It had the perfect blend of flavor, sweetness and spreadability. Coffee also was great as was Linda our waitress. She provided local tips along with our breakfast.

Deliciously unexpected. We stepped outside our comfort zone and ordered a savory pancake. It took a nitwit two for us to adjust our expectations but when we did we were pleasantly surprised. A bonus is the Yelp Coupon for $10 off 20!

Nice little place for breakfast in Stowe. Very tough to decide what to order as do much of the menu looks amazing. Our party all liked their Dutch pancakes (both sweet and savory). Side items were priced way too high (e.g. toast $2.50) but that was offset by the $20 for $10 Yelp deal.

    (5)
  • Jeff G.

Pretty much just as good as Amsterdam ! I have eaten here 8 times this summer and I've only had one thing - the Rembrant pancake with a nice portion of stroop on top. Every single time the pancake was excellent. You have to ask for the Dutch syrup as they keep it off the table. On the table is maple syrup, but don't waste your time with that stuff on a Dutch pancake! The bloody Mary's are great, too! The staff is wonderful.

I have never written a restaurant review. Never on any site, but this place was so good and such a hidden surprise that it deserves attention. I had a bacon, cheese, and onion pancake. I didn't know what I was in for, but the taste buds loved it. It's very unique, but also very familiar to the palate. As far as I'm concerned, it's a must try. I'm sure you'll go back again and again. The staff was super friendly, too.

Another delicious breakfast! This is one. of our favorite breakfast places in Stowe. The apple and blueberry pancake , ham and cheese omelet , and spinach Benedict were excellent! Linda was a wonderful waitress! Fast service and pleasant atmosphere . Sat next to the fireplace too! !

This place is something special. After trying to get to this place for some time, (I mean really, trying to get out by noon on a vacation?.. laughable in my book) I am so glad that I was able to rise to the occasion (pun intended?) as I ended up having a delicious breakfast here with my S.O. We each had a savory dutch pancake ("hearty helpings" as it is referred to in the menu). My dutch pancake had peppers, tomatoes, spinach, bacon and cheddar cheese --yum!. The pancake is acts as a medium to hold the ingredients together and, at the risk of sounding highly uncultured, is sort of like a light, thin, and crispy type of bread rather than your traditional fluffy, thick, and heavy pancake. The crispy texture of the dutch pancake works perfectly to balance the softness of the cheese. It was a new experience for me and I can't wait to go back to have another savory offering. In short: It is worth setting your alarm clock to get here before the 11:30am (weekday) or 12:30pm (weekend) closing. Pro-dutch pancake eaters UNITE! (Of note, I came here with the "$7 for $14" yelp deal, so essentially 50% off. The discount would otherwise bump a 4 star rating into the 5 star category.)

50 mins for a cup of coffee?!? Food is good, but not worth the wait. Was impressed with the size of pancakes, starving by the time I got them.

We stopped in here for breakfast and were glad we did! We were seated right away and were brought coffee. Our server, I think her name was Linda, was SUPERB! She was so friendly and when I couldn't decide between a sweet or savory pancake, she said I could order 2 smaller ones so I could have one of each. Woohoo! I ended up with the apple blueberry and the potato onion and cheese. I liked the savory one better but both were delicious. She also makes amazing bloody Mary's!! My husband had eggs, bacon and a regular buttermilk pancake and he enjoyed his meal too. We'll definitely visit again when we're back in Stowe next summer!

very good on the pancake level - more like crepes and I like crepes - I think kids would love this place. if you need a good breakfast before going skiing then this the place because the menu has everything imaginable - we stayed at the grey fox and this was connected. Overall great experience.

(The Dutch Pancake Cafe was originally going to be a high 3 for me, but the Yelp deal they have of $10 for $20 notched it up. Love when businesses give Yelp love!) This is a nice little place located INSIDE The Grey Fox Inn, and they specialize in those P-CAKES. When I went with my wife, brother-in-law and his girlfriend, none of us actually got pancakes surprisingly. We'd just finished a gluttonous week of eating, and wanted to go low-key. The Cafe's breakfast did not disappoint though... 2 things I wasn't a fan of: a) Table sizes -- if you're going with 2 or more people, it's REALLY cramped. They put so many trinkets and compliments to your meal (sugars, milk, coffee cups, forks, place mats, etc..) that it kills the smaller-sized tables. b) The side of potatoes was SLIM PICKENS. Really small amount of potatoes, so potato-lovers, BEWARE. OJ was nice and big, fresh-tasting as well... The eggs were made very well, and the sausage is nice and sweet. Everything I love in a sausage was there. Service was great, and the waitress we had was very friendly. Granted, I'm sure we should've gotten the pancakes to rave about, but we didn't, so my review is for those looking for a basic breakfast with the essentials, which were beyond fine.

Very nice ambience. The pancakes are thin and have all kinds of options. I liked the buttermilk pancakes the best. Staff was very good

We ate here at 8am on a Monday and were the only ones at the restaurant, so service or a wait was not an issue. We used the Yelp coupon which made the price very reasonable. The pancakes were delicious, I got the corned beef pancake (very heavy so only could eat half) and my husband devoured the banana and blueberry pancake. Nothing fancy but good service, good coffee (the waitress was saying it's from an organic coffee company out of Burlington bc the manager is very into good coffee) and good food.

5 star breakfast experience in my book! Lovely pancakes in so many varieties! Plus a cozy fire a hot coffee... I want to go back!

Yes. Let me tell you about a Dutch pancake. It's almost like a crepe, but not. It's huge and thin and tasty. We had one with savory fillings (bacon, spinach, tomato) and one with sweet fillings (apples, walnuts), and both were delicious. Delicious. Really good. I also had scrambled eggs and toast here. Literally the best eggs and toast I've ever had. So fresh. So good. Also, we had that awesome Yelp coupon. Easily our favorite dining experience while in Stowe.

Our lodge decided they wanted to stop serving our included breakfast a half hour before closing time. We were frustrated, cold, and starving. Enter a Yelp deal for Dutch Pancake Cafe and our morning took a turn for the DELICIOUS. The staff was so sweet and we were seated immediately! Our nice server, who may have been the owner of the Cafe, explained to us what a Dutch pancake was and helped us order. If you love crepes, you must experience this Dutch dish. Imagine a crepe that is thick, gooey, rich, and buttery, with great big slices of apples and blueberries (or other fruit of your choosing) baked right into the dough! Top if off with a little powdered sugar and you've got yourself a small piece of Dutch heaven. Stop reading reviews for this place and go already!

Great pancakes, good service (small town USA standards). Honored the Yelp deal. All is right with the universe.

  • Patty S.

We went back here twice for breakfast simply due to the vegetable fantasy. It tastes like a yummy pizza. The eggs florentine and mini dutch pancake had great flavor. I wish there was an option to get a mini dutch pancake as a side since the dutch pancakes cover an entire plate. The reason for the 3 stars is the slow, inconsistent service. They also dont have window coverings on their bar windows so the sun was glaring on the diners facing the window.

    (3)
  • C G.

I've been here a couple times and had both the Dutch pancake and "regular" pancakes. Both were very good. However, the service can be a little slow. Coffee service was slow also. The place is usually crowded, especilly on weekends.

oh my god go with an appitite. If you walk away hungry it is your own fault. food and wait staff amazing. was busy when we went and our waitress has more than her share of work ahead of her but still treated everyone with care. can not wait to go back. Yummy!!!

  • Dawn G.

Terrible service- almost an hour for breakfast for 2! Food was barely warm. Pancake taste was good, but not worth the wait! And $30 for breakfast for 2- unacceptable.

    (1)
  • Mark B.

OMG. I had the pancake with corned beef hash and two eggs, with a side of home fries, because I've always loved home fries in Vermont better than anywhere else. I wish I hadn't. The amount of food was ENORMOUS! Great for a day on the slopes, but that was not this day. And the food was great, too. The pancake was indeed the very crepe-like Dutch style, and the corned beef hash and egg were built in. It was delicious. Great coffee too, and wonderful, friendly service. If you don't find parking on the Grey Fox Inn side, keep going around the back of the building and you will end up on the "additional parking" area, and can walk up the sidewalk in front to get in.

  • Mr R.

The service can be slow But the food is almost always spot on. The specialty pancakes are awesome! I'd go there more often, but its a little pricey for what it is. 4 people @ $110 bill is a bit high to do on the regular.

  • Ashley S.

Great little breakfast spot! My boyfriend and I had pancakes here, and they were delicious and so filling. Surprisingly, only 1 pancake was needed to fill me up, and I could barely finish it. I got the vegetable fantasy which was a thin crepe-like pancake with artichoke hearts, olives, tomatoes, cheese, and pesto mixed into the batter. So tasty! My boyfriend liked his pancake which was stuffed with eggs and sausage. The coffee was also good and relatively strong, and our waitress was really friendly and kept the coffee refills coming. With the $10 for $20 yelp deal, you can't go wrong on a cheap, filling breakfast here!

The previous reviews made this place sound amazing, and it very well might be, but sadly we never got to taste the food. We were seated in the dining room with only one other family there. The room was 80 degrees and climbing (I know because I was seated by the thermostat) and after 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave because our waitress never came to our table and our toddler was getting cranky from being way too hot and hungry. We went just down the road to McCarthy's where it was delicious, air conditioned, and the waitress was super friendly.

The food is ok. The pancakes are pretty good and huge portions. But, it took almost 45 minutes to get our breakfast. The hash browns were burnt, but we did get another decent serving at the end of our breakfast. It's cute, but not great.

  • Christi G.

Pricey, but so is all if Stowe. Our pancakes and service were fantastic from the minute we arrived until we left. Our server was excellent and food was prepared rather quickly. All was very tasty. Portions weren't huge for their price but the interesting entree options justified the price. Very unique and it felt like a treat.:-)

It was lovely and cozy place for a filling breakfast. Too a little bit long for the food to come up but I love my pancakes so much. I never have anything like that for my pancakes. It's so delicious and worth the money. Not to mention the scenery is so pretty outside, best breakfast ever in my life. My friends had a hungry man for breakfast and it's huge portion, it's filled him up til dinner lol. Services are excellent... five stars.

It was here that I discovered that I love eggs benedict and hollendaise sauce. The eggs benedict was amazing and the home fries were even better. Perfectly seasoned homefries. The waitress gives you coffee when you sit down and the coffee is very good. My meal also came with a strawberry filled crepe kind of thing which was also amazing. If you are looking for breakfast int he Stowe area this is really an amazing bet. Service was ok and atmosphere is decent which averages this one to an overall 4 stars.

The pancakes were delicious!! Good portion size, very flavorful and filling. The quality of the food is certainly 5 stars. However, the server was so inattentive and unfriendly. Once the food was delivered she never came back to check and see how everything was, we had to flag her down for a coffee refill (FYI they charge full price for re-fills), and after waiting for ten minutes after we finished our meals I had to go and find her to ask for our bill. I would be more understanding of it was a busy day, but mid-week with just 2 other tables in the restaurant did not make sense. The food was so good that I'd go back again and hope that we had a different waitress.

SERVICE: Took several minutes for the hostess to greet us, despite several wait staff looking at us and another group standing at the entrance looking forlorn. When we finally got seated, the wait staff took quite a while to take our order. She was friendly, just not terribly worried about our status. FOOD: The food was good. If you want pancakes that are unique, however, jump to page three of the menu to the Nederlandse Pannekoek Specialties. Remember, these are 12" pancakes, so one should fill you up unless you've got a ginormous appetite. Decent flavors. FACILITY/AMBIENCE: It's mildly cute with kitsch-like "Dutch" decorating. But the construction of the facility is cheap so that whenever a waiter walks by your table, the floor vibrates significantly, making a peaceful meal a bit difficult, unless that sort of thing doesn't bother you. The acoustics are also not great, so it's a bit loud during the meal. BOTTOM LINE: If you want pancakes, I definitely recommend this place, but manage your expectations or you will be disappointed.

I stayed at the Grey Fox Inn and was going to partake of the restaurant on site. When I came down, I was greeted immediately and taken to a table that was sopping wet and still dirty. So I awkwardly had to wait there in front of everyone while I waited for the kid to clean it. He came back with a sopping wet towel and wiped the table again and around the salt and sugar shaker. Then he dried it off and set it for me. There was a puddle on the floor, though and I had to clean the chair myself. When I finally sat down, I got stuck to the table. It was still sticky. No one came back to clean it so I left. Wish I had been able to review the food. Oh, well.

I was never a big fan of pancakes; French toast is more my religion. When I learned that this café had over 80 choices(!) of Dutch pancakes and was dubbed "The World's Most Decadent Breakfast" by NY Times, I became a pancake convert for a day. I ordered the strawberry chocolate & cream - it was light and airy like a French crepe, and decadent indeed. My bf had the ham, egg, & cheese stuffed pancake - loved the crispy cooked cheese coating and sharp flavor. The savory pancake was more filling than the sweet one. They also served American-style buttermilk pancakes, omelets, and other traditional breakfast items, but don't bother - pretty sure everyone will give you a stare down if you don't order the signature Dutch pancakes. The service was pretty much nonexistent. We received our drinks *after* we finished all of our food and never got water. My side order of hash brown came *with* the bill. Our waitress never checked in on us and was MIA most of the time. If the service wasn't so bad, I would return for round 2.

Came here for breakfast on a Saturday in April. Since it's currently the off season in Stowe, it was not very busy. Waitress was friendly and answered all my pesky questions, helping me decide which pancake to get. I got the Netherlands Breakfast one- it was amazing! I was so full half way through, I could not finish it but I loved it. Highly recommend if you love pancakes and having other foods in it. Will definitely be coming back here during my next trip to Stowe.

So, wow. I have never eaten at a place like the Dutch Pancake Cafe. Nestled inside a resort in Stowe, the menu is basically 3 pages worth of different combinations of either sweet or savory (and sometimes combined) items stuffed into thin, crepe-like pancakes. We went twice during our stay, both times sitting on the open porch to enjoy the fresh Stowe air. The first time, I got the veggie sausage, cheddar and egg. This savory pancake was really cah-razzzy good. The cheddar was caramelized on top, tucking the sausage and egg inside. Holy cow, this was awesome. It was quite heavy, and I mean that in the best possible way. Later, we had a few sweet creations. The chocolate, banana and toasted coconut was light and tasty. The strawberry shortcake (strawberries and whipped cream) was outstanding. Throw some maple syrup on there and daaaaaamn you got yourself an eyes-roll back breakfast way. Also, great service. I would go back here if I visited Stowe. Scratch that- I would go back here- again and again and again.

Expensive!! The food was greasy and sub par. The prices changed but the menus were not updated. We inquired when received the bill and had to insist the waitress ask her manager as we should be paying the menu price not the new price which no one mentioned. Some members of my party liked their breakfast more than others but all agreed.... overpriced and poor service.

I had a great breakfast here! We arrived on a quiet morning, a Friday in late March so not peak skiing season. As we approached the door we realized we had arrived about one minute after they close breakfast...so we turned around to head back to the car, and someone ran outside to tell us we were still welcome to come for breakfast, so we got a table and our server seemed very happy to help us. I joked to my wife, "I hope the cook is as happy to have us get a table late as the server is," but the food was great. My wife got some of the traditional Dutch pancakes (basically a crepe) with fruit. I was in the mood for American buttermilk pancakes, which I got with eggs and bacon. My pancakes were amazing, and my wife's were, too. Whatever style you're in the mood for, you really can't go wrong. They served my eggs on the same plate as my pancakes, which is kind of a pet peeve of mine but so many places do it that I never bother to hold it against a place. Coffee was okay. It seemed a little light on flavor.

I just drove 3 hours to eat here. I have to drive 3 hours to get back home. And it was totally worth it. One of our favorite places in the country to eat, we stumbled upon it several years ago when we happened to be staying at the Grey Fox Inn, where it is housed. Now probably 10 years and 2 kids later, we still need our fix every once in a while. The main food served here is of course the Dutch pancake, which is more crepe-like, and most options involve a bunch of food being cooked inside the pancake. I usually get one of the sweet pancakes (last time I think I got the piña colada ones--filled with bananas and pineapples), but today I got the farmer's pancake, which is filled with potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and cheddar. It was amazing. Wife got chocolate chip pancakes, which were a hit, and the kids got banana cream, which was as much of a success as anything ever is with them. It's a family-friendly place and the wait staff are always great. If you can't eat the pancakes (gluten or other reasons, I'd guess), they have a nice sized list of non-pancake breakfast foods too. There's really no excusable reason not to eat here if you're in Stowe at breakfast or brunch time.

This place is known for their specialty Dutch pancakes, which to me looks like a cross between crepe & thin crust pizza. We each ordered a pancake (banana blueberry, specialty Philly cheese, and the Rembrandt), the food was descent. However, the service was NOT! Waited 10 minutes for the waitress to bring us coffee and she was nowhere to be seen. Finally someone else pour our coffee for her... We barely saw her, the other waitresses were not helpful either, all except the busboy, who was the one that served us... Bottom line, the food was worth a try (but it didn't blow us away or anything) but the service definitely will keep us away from future visit.

The place was pretty good, a little on the pricier side for breakfast, but pretty good. I had the apple raisin pancakes. They were good, being thinner than a normal pancake and thicker than a crepe. It covered the entire 12" plate. The menu was HUGE and had a lot of original ideas. The service was slow and pretty inattentive. It took us forever to get coffee and we were charged for each refill. My food was also a little bit on the cooler side. I would recommend this place, hopefully the service would be a little bitter better next time.

This place is will serve you the largest pancake you have ever had. It's good! But not great... A little touristy... The pricing seemed good for the area... I would definitely come here again.

two pancakes for breakfast. $30. my chocolate chip one was barely warm. coffee was ok. unique pancakes, sort of slow service, crowded parking lot. even though i gave it two stars i would probably come back if i was in the area with people who wanted to try the dutch pancakes. they have vegetarian sausage options on the menu, which is nice for veg people.

Giving a one star to what could be a five star is tough. 4 people, hungry, entering an almost empty restaurant. There was ONE waitress. No management on hand. We each got one cup of coffee (2.50 each) and no refills. Food might have been good if it was served hot and not warm. Had to wait for syrup. Tried to be paitent with the overworked, stressed out waitress who got short at one point, but when the front desk shrugged and said, "Yeah, we really need another waitress..." Well, that is not a good place to risk spending your $64 bucks for a maybe experience. Too pricey to try again when we go back.

Wonderful place to eat! Came here for a weekend getaway with friends and we got to sit on the patio area for breakfast. The banana and blueberry pancake were delicious. Nice golden yellow color. The bacon was good - definitely did not have a lot of the preservatives because it wasn't very salty. The veggie scrabble was chock full of veggies - they didn't skimp on it.

We walked in and were one of two parties of 6...while we were sat relatively quickly the staff looked confused and was trying to seat us in two places at the same time. The coffee cups were filthy and were an immediate turnoff. The waitress couldn't seem to manage more than one table at a time and seeing as we were sat on a small porch with two other families with 10 Children between them, it was fantastic to be waiting even longer for coffee in my filthy cup. What food wasn't cold was burnt and this place is an overall epic fail. If you want to overpay for breakfast go to Solstice at Stowe mt lodge.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why this place doesn't have a better rating. Every time I've been here, the food's been stellar and so has the service. The coffee was good, the pancakes are unbelievable, and all of the waitresses I've encountered here were attentive and very friendly. I've come both in season and off season, and have had similar experiences. Definitely love this place and hope it stays around for a LONG time, because I know I'll be heading here the next time I'm in Stowe.

Food- Good Pancakes, Service - gosh awful. I'm no stranger to waiting on line for a good meal- it's usually worth the wait. But not here, Once seated, we continued to wait for our single mug of coffee, and waited even longer to give our order. No one came to refill coffee or water, and random tables seated before/ after us were getting their food at very different times. Everyone there looked like they were waiting forever for their food. Once we were finally served, the scrambled sausage, egg and cheese pancake was excellent. But no one came to check on us, we were never given maple syrup as requested twice, and the check was just thrown on the table. Good pancake, not good enough to go back.

Waited 25 minutes for a "2 minutes" cycle. While others behind were seated at tables my family easily could sit at. We are just a family of 5 with a 9, 6 and 2 year old... Families apparently are not welcome...

Absolutely loved the Dutch Pancake Cafe. If you are looking for a different breakfast experience this would be the place. The waitresses were all very helpful with the menu and answered my many questions. The pancakes are large, 12 inches but they are thin, almost crepe like. They are not the typical heavy "pan" cake we in New England are used too. I selected the banana/ walnut pancake and was happy. It came sprinkled with powdered sugar I found I did not need syrup at all. I would have liked to try a savory one as well, maybe next time. They offer many other things besides pancakes from Eggs Benedict to Omelets.

We often stop here whenever we visit Stowe.. Previously, we've had great meals here with friendly and attentive staff.. This past week, however, we didn't. There were only two other tables with customers.. but the waitress was more interested in conversing with staff out back than cleaning up the tables that were emptied before we arrived and remained a mess as we left..

Came here over winter break for a hearty breakfast before a day of snowboarding. The pancakes are like crepes with w/e you ordered mixed it. There were a HUGE selection that it made it so difficult to choose. I finally settled on a savory one with mushrooms, spinach, bacon, & cheese. It was definitely filling but I wasn't not overly impressed. My bf had a similar savory one but with sausage and egg & he enjoyed it. However, I'm not sure if it was because the pancakes were so good or because you can't really go wrong with bacon, sausage, & cheese along with some grease? It's a cute place to grab a filling breakfast before the mountains but I was a bit underwhelmed.

As Dutch pancake aficionados who moved away from seemingly the only city in Canada that serves them, my husband and I were excited to come here. We weren't disappointed. He had the apple and bacon pannenkoek and I had one with shredded potato, tomato, cheese and onion. Perfect, both of them. I wasn't able to finish mine, though, since I'd forgotten that potato and cheese are both filling toppings. What a rookie mistake. Service was great, too. It was a rainy day when we visited, and probably the off-season for Stowe, so we were the only patrons. We chuckled as we remembered the long lineups every weekend at the Dutch pancake restaurant we'd left behind in Calgary. Vermonters, you don't know how lucky you are to have this place!

This is definitely different fare and worth a visit. Servings are huge and I filled up on a potato, cheese, vegtable savory style pancake just before a snowshoe hike. You could easily split a single cake between 2 people, but with all the choices that's hard to do.

Some of the best breakfast I've had in a long, long while. This place makes pancakes out of everything! I didn't try a sweet pancake but the "savory" one I ordered was phenominal. The "Farmers" pancake is a mixture of potato, tomato, onion and cheese. It comes with a side of sour cream and apple sauce which is a nice touch. It was like eating a gigantic thin, non-greasy lattke. SO good. Others at the table ordered Eggs Florentine which was also amazing and came with a crepe-like strawberry preserve filled pancake. Service was speedy and friendly and ambiance was decent. Prices are pretty high but for what we got, well worth it!

The pancake came uncooked. You can actually taste the raw batter. The service was not attentive at all. Just to get a ketchup you needed several minutes for the waiters to realize your hand is up waving for attention. We got charged for all the coffee refills when the menu clearly states the refill is free. When we asked the waiters to take the refills off both of them kept telling us it's not free til we opened the menu and point out to them. How you trained the staffs not to even know your own menu. Horrible experience.

The Dutch Pancake Cafe, located in the Grey Fox Inn, can be described simply as having excellent food and mediocre service. If you are visiting Stowe, you absolutely have to eat breakfast here! The pancakes are thin and crepe-like, soft and moist, and also crispy in parts from the griddle. The batter itself is a bit different than regular pancakes, and has a smooth, delicate flavor. You can get them plain with powdered sugar, or choose from one of over 40 filling and topping styles featuring fruit (apples, bananas, blueberries, candied ginger, coconut...), eggs, bacon, vegetables, and more. Lots of combinations to choose from, and all scrumptious! The pancake itself is about 12 inches in diameter, entirely covering the plate, and they are quite generous with the toppings and fillings. This particular visit I opted for the Apple & Blueberry (I'm partial to the fruit). Nice chunks of soft apples and cinnamon and tiny blueberries scattered throughout. Topped with some Vermont maple syrup and I was very nearly in heaven. My husband went for his favorite, the Bacon & Cheese pancake, stuffed with melted Vermont cheddar and plenty of crispy, crumbled bacon. The dining room is small but clean, featuring two lit lampposts in the middle of the room. On this particular visit there was only one server managing the entire room (seating, orders, busing, etc.), however there were only a few other groups dining besides us. For some reason, the service here is always on the lower end. The last time we visited, it was absolutely abysmal: they didn't take our order for at least 20 minutes, had to flag down another waitress for drinks, food took exceptionally long, waited forever for the check, etc. Despite possibly the worst service we had ever received at a restaurant, the food is so worth it that we resigned to put up with it just for the delicious pancakes. Fortunately this time, our waitress was pleasant and available, a tad slow on the drinks (and forgot that my husband asked for water), but other than that, the food came out at a reasonable time. We really didn't have any other complaints this visit. I would wager to say that when they are slammed, they simply can't keep up and the service therefore suffers. All in all, this is a must-visit. Risk the service for the awesome pancakes!

Though this is not the place to go if you are looking for a cheap breakfast, I highly suggest it if you want a delicious breakfast. These pancakes are so good! I had one with pineapple and coconut and I think my taste buds went to Heaven. The wait staff is very friendly, and my coffee mug was never empty. I wish I could find a place like this down here in Florida.

We discovered this spot as we hiked across the rec trail. It was great! The service was friendly and they had so many great options. I got one of the sweet pancakes and my husband got the popular #25. The thin pancakes were not as filling as the traditional American buttermilk pancakes and went great with bananas and coconut as well as eggs and bacon!

Ok, its a little pricey, but I have not eaten any breakfast like it in my life. These pancakes (or maybe I should call them crepes : ) are soooo yummy and delish, I certainly enjoyed it. We shared at my table, but there are so many yummy ones to choose from. I enjoyed the fruit mixed pancakes and the cheese, potato, onion ones as well- just dunk into the apple sauce they give you and yum. Definitely recommend going here at least once on your visit, check out "The Gables" delightful breakfast too.

We had breakfast there yesterday...I had eggs Florentine, the eggs were poached to perfection, the spinach was off some of it tasted like a little ammonia had gotten in the cooking water, and the home fries not the best. Forget the hollandaise, I usually have it served on the side and have a taste, not too great. My husband had a savory Dutch pancake, a little like a thin crust pizza, It needed am little sauce or something. The service was excellent and friendly.

When I went there, there was a long line at the door but no one was paying attention. Guests had to organize ourselves as to who came first, etc. Then their coffee was pretty bad. Dutch style pancakes were good, too big, but otherwise not very exciting. I had to go back to the cafe next to the Cabot Store for better coffee.

We went there at 3:00pm on Monday and they were closed. The inn keeper told us the restaurant was not going to reopen for the rest of the day. This was a waste of our time and drive. The restaurant's own posted hours said they were open daily until 11:00pm.

The pancakes are a unique experience. The savory cakes are a meal fit for a family and taste like nothing I've never had before. The service was super friendly and the other non-pancake fare was solid as well. But the pancakes alone are worth the trip.

When you see the word "pancake" in the name of a breakfast joint when you are vacation, you usually smile and make a point to stop there. The same case has held true for me on 3 separate visits to Stowe, with the Dutch Pancake Cafe. The pancakes are thinner than some may be used to, more of a large crepe is their most accurate description. They offer several varieties, including some with fresh fruit or others with some meat. All of the ones that myself and girlfriend and family have consume have been good. You can also get your eggs and bacon or sausage here. The part of the experience that leaves you annoyed is the very slow and poor overall service. Once you are seated, you may be waiting 10 minutes for water and then an additional 10 minutes for some coffee. And once your order, chances are you will wait at least half an hour for your good. Food, which takes a max of 5 minutes to cook. So, if you and your friends/family can happily wait (which some can), then stop by for some good breakfast here. If you plan on getting in some snowboarding, running, biking or sight seeing like me & are hungry...look elsewhere in town.

This place is a pretty great bet for brunch in Stowe. I've actually had Dutch pancakes in the Netherlands, and these were on par with the ones I had across the way there. I got a sweet one (apple cinnamon) but tried my gf's savory choice (bacon and cheese) and they were both delicious! And talk about filling. They had to roll us out of there. For you veggies, they had plenty of options other than the sweet pancakes, including one with vegetarian sausage! Impressive. The coffee was Green Mountain, and was refilled regularly by our effective yet clearly overworked waitress. She was very sweet, but someone called in sick that morning so she wasn't as fast as she wanted to be. She explained to us, which we appreciated. The prices were reasonable too, bonus!

Best breakfast so far after three days here in Stowe. I had the blueberry apple pancake. It's one giant pancake loaded with lots of blueberries and apples. The consistency of the pancake was more like a crepe than a pancake. But I love crepes, so I loved this pancake! Husband's omelette was very tasty and came with a little pancake on the side. They have quite a few options for pancake flavors. So we got adventurous and ordered that pancake with bacon in it. What a pleasant surprise! Oh, and the coffee's pretty good too. The service was a tad slow, but with a wall of windows and a cosy fireplace in the dining room - we weren't in a hurry at all.

Visited this weekend for Valentines day and we loved it. We saw many people ordering around the dutch pancake, but just take the leap. It's not really a pancake at all, the best way to describe it is a crepe served like an open faced omelette with the ingredients either cooked in the crepe for the savory options or, as with most of the sweet selections, placed on top just before serving. My girl ordered the sweet version, with banana's, blueberries, chocolate chips and whipped cream. She said it was great, and I enjoyed the bite I took, though too sweet for my tastes. I ordered the Farmers which came with grated potato, tomato, onion, and topped with cheddar cheese. The cheese was grilled to a thin brown crust that covered the majority of the pancake and the grated potato crisped up like Tater Tots. I topped with some Cholula and it was out of this world. The service was a little slow, and they ran out of Bloody Mary mix, but that can probably be attributed to a very busy Valentine weekend. I highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Decent food, alright prices, terrible, terrible service. It is so slow that it's like watching paint dry on a fence while under the influence of some sleep inducing medication. Also, I saw/heard a waitress commit a no-no regardless of industry. When a man asked for (gasp) some service, the server went to get the waitress. When the waitress asked the other waitress who needed something, the other woman said, "the fat one." If I'm across the room and I can hear you, there is something wrong. For what it's worth, he wasn't fat. Unless you want to contemplate the meaning of life or whether or not to binge on Lake Champlain chocolates later that day, don't go here. Buy some pancakes and a breakfast sandwich with meat in it from McDonalds, smash all the ingredients together and flatten it into a thin pancake. Voila, you have an experience akin to a dutch pancake, but so much quicker and not as expensive. Thank me later.

Great place for breakfast - I like the sweet (apple and cinnamon), my wife, the savory (potato and onion), and our daughter, the traditional (buttermilk with chocolate chips) -- we always saved Dutch Pancake House for our last morning in Stowe as the portions are big enough to get us back to the City, but this year we realized we like breakfast there so much we didn't wait till the last day and made two trips!

I remembered this place from a vacation years ago so I decided to go back years later. It was just as good as I remembered it. This place is so cute! just beginning with the way the interior is, i loved the lamposts that were INSIDE the restaurant. not to mention the piano that played itself. highly entertaining. the also have wireless set up in there if you care to bring your laptop into the restaurant.. now then, onto the food. my siblings and i went there twice to eat brunch. once with friends and another time (two days later) with the parents. The first time i ordered their ham and cheese omelette.. but of course (being the bacon lover that I am) I substituted bacon for ham. and it was delicious. it also came with a mini pancake with strawberry filling, which turned out to be super sweet. personally i prefer salty over sweet though i have my fair share of a sweet tooth, so i found the pancake to be a little overwhelmed by the strawberry filling. i shared that with my brother.. the potatoes were not as good as i expected.. on the drier side of things. but still i have to go back to say that the omelette was absolutely delish and extremely filling. i was so pleased with my choice. on our second visit here, i decided to go with a more traditional choice and order their signature dish, the dutch pancake. i chose one that had bacon (yet again), cheese and an egg built into it. most notably, i was surprised at how filling one pancake was. when it comes out, it doesn't look like it will be, but again i was very full. my favorite part was the way the cheese turned out a little on the grilled side. the egg seemed to have been dropped into the middle of the pancake batter and left to cook where it had fallen.. a little thick on the yolk, i would have like it better if they had scrambled the egg and put it in more evenly into the pankcake. otherwise, the service was very nice and accommodating as we had a baby at the table and large parties for both visits.

Oh man... where to begin. Went to this place after the Stowe 8-miler and it was amazing. I had a vegetable fantasy pannekoeken and it was nice and savory with pesto and artichoke. It's a little bit on the heavy side and I was really full afterwards. I had a hard time moving about. Will definitely go there again.

This place is probably more like 3.5 stars, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I won't be so long winded on this one. Simply good food. Nice portions, okay prices. Eggs Benedict with Dutch pancake was great. Fresh fruit. Decent pleasant service and quiet atmosphere. Nice breakfast/brunch. Only thing that bugged me, the other diners who felt the need to chat away on there cell phones. Five stars if it were a little cheaper and faster on the dishes coming from the kitchen.

We stayed at the grey fox hotel and loved it. We went in for the breakfast. I got the grand slam breakfast equivalent and my plus one had the big Dutch pancake. The big pancake was interesting but I guess you have to be Dutch to really love it. Overall the food was good and the servers were sincere and friendly. The decor was very nice. Overall we liked it but thought $30 for some eggs and a weird pancake for two seemed a bit too high. Especially it being off season.

I was super excited to try the Dutch Pancakes, after reading the rave reviews, according to their website. Upon arrival, it was pretty empty, and we stood around awkwardly waiting for a hostess to seat us. We just kinda hung around for a bit. Waiting for service was the same deal, be patient and the waitress will come. We were STARVING, so it was getting kinda old. I think one lady was running the whole show that morning. The coffee sucked (sorry), but as a vegetarian, I was excited to see they offered veggie sausage in a pancake, w/ egg and cheese. I got that and my hubby got the seasonal fruit pancake, which was strawberry. He asked how it came and he was told strawberries on top... They arrived and mine was HUGE, and his was covered in strawberry JELLY. I guess strawberries were "out" of "season". Disappointing for sure, but an experience none the less. Kinda expensive, even with the room discount.

The dutch pancakes were amazing. This place was recommended to us by the Stowe Inn where we stayed. Dutch style pancakes are a little more crepe like than traditional pancakes but if you are into this style then they are fabulous. The only reason this place did not get five stars is because the we waited FOREVER. Once we seated we had to wait ten minutes for our waitress then another 5 for our drinks then 20 min for our food. Overall a lot of waiting but the food is worth it

If you're in Stowe, this is a must visit spot. By far the best pancake I've had in quite some time. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. Very welcoming, as any breakfast place should be. The Dutch style pancake is thicker than a crepe, but thinner than an American style pancake. And much larger: it filled my whole plate! Menu had a diverse selection of combos of ingredients to cook into your pancake: everything from fruit to eggs, cheddar, & bacon. Normal breakfast items you'd expect to see anywhere else were also on the menu, but when you're here don't bother getting something generic. Had the Nor'easter: Cinnamon apple slices, walnuts, & raisins cooked into the pancake w/powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Put Vermont maple syrup on it, and it's sheer perfection. A friend had a pancake w/scrambled eggs, cheddar, and ham cooked into it. Tried a few bites, and it too was delicious. My friends and I stopped here on the way out of town to cap off a great weekend of skiing, and we weren't disappointed. Although delicious, I wouldn't recommend going there before a full day of skiing: the thought of putting down a 12" pancake beforehand seems slightly counter-productive. Instant Itis! We also didn't need to eat anything on the 7hr. drive home! Prices are a little higher than going to a normal diner of sorts, but very worth the price. Any time I'm in Stowe, I will be eating there!

Dined there labor day weekend for breakfast. I am a little confused over "Dutch pancakes" because my pancake with strawberries and whip cream was basically a bad crêpe. There was nothing to it. Disappointed that the strawberries were frozen, and it was basically a sloppy drippy hersheys chocolate sauce mess on top of a crêpe. My companions meal was better though. He had a pancake stuffed with eggs bacon and cheese. It was hearty, but greasy. Good hangover food (if we had one!). Service was terrible. We sat down and were promptly served coffee by someone, but never saw our waitress for about 10-15 minutes. And it was not crowded at all, I think she had maybe one more table?

Going to the Dutch Pancake Cafe has been a tradition in our family, generally falling upon the departure of our trip. Over the past few years I've always sort of fell on the idea of this restaurant with slight disappointment, as I've always preferred the traditional fluffy pancakes served in your all American diner. However, this time around I relished the idea of straying away from that type of breakfast food. Perhaps it was just time and place, or slightly aged taste, because this time around, tradition carried a new and exciting breakfast experience. The restaurant itself is tucked away behind the local Grey Fox Inn, facing the mountain road. The layout is very similar to that of a diner, minus the bar and rotating pie case, with booths lining half the room and just about every seat in perfect sight of the waitress. The waitstaff doesn't seem to consist of many, which is quiet possibly the best choice, given the size of the dining area. Our waitress was taken straight from a milkshake and burger joint of the 50's, right down to the pink wave of her skirt. We were seated immediately and greeted with an enthusiastic smile, given coffee and menus with haste. The coffee stood above your average diner sludge, treating the morning grogginess with open arms, and being essential in order to trudge through the extensive menu. In the past years I have always gone with the sweet portion of the menu, never truly batting an eye at the savory section. The sweet cakes come with a wide range of delicious and tooth decaying treats, from Nutella to toasted coconuts, giving everyone with a sweet tooth something to talk about. The savory cakes come with anything from sausage (as well as vegetarian sausage) to an entire veggie omelet placed right on top of a 12 inch thin Dutch pancake. After a lengthy read and deliberation, I confidently ordered the savory vegetarian sausage and eggs pancake, minus the cheddar cheese due to the sheer size of what was already coming my way. All I can say, even days after eating at the Dutch Pancake Cafe is wow! The crepe style cake itself was massive, but due to its sheer thinness it didn't become too overbearing. It was light and flaky, with a perfect golden brown tinting the edge as it curled up. The eggs were fluffy and placed directly in the center, the vegetarian sausage placed in and around them, providing just the right amount of grease to satisfy the diner kid in all of us. At the end of the meal, I could safely and surprisingly say that I haven't been that pleased, stuffed and overall satisfied with a morning meal in a long time. Plus, the coffee was refilled numerous times, never reaching the bottom of the mug or waiting to get cold. While you may be expecting a massive pancake that rises above the fillings, you'll be extremely pleased with what is actually offered. What you need to do to appreciate everything it has to offer is to go into the Dutch Pancake Cafe with an idea of what they serve; a refreshing spin on a breakfast classic that has since exhausted most of its abilities to leave a lasting impression. If you're ever in Stowe, even for just a few hours and you happen to be craving breakfast fuel, you really owe it to yourself to make a stop at The Dutch Pancake Cafe.

I like traditional pancakes, not the Dutch style. I ordered one of the 3 entrees with traditional pancakes. They were the best I found in Stowe. Other members of my party enjoyed the Dutch pancakes they ordered too. Great breakfast! Good value!

Food: really good. Dutch pancakes are somewhere in between a pancake and a crepe. And they have all types of flavors you can choose from- sweet like strawberry, blueberry, apple cinnamon, chocolate and strawberry, etc. They've also got savory ones- with eggs and meats and cheeses. I got the apple cinnamon Dutch pancake and it tasted like apple pie and was huge- 12" in diameter. Service was awful. We practically had to hogtie our waitress and hold her at knifepoint to get the OJ we asked for several times. And even then it took a long while to get it. Orange juice and coffee were both horrible. Clearly minute maid out of a machine OJ. There's basically no decor but I just wanted to try this type of pancake. They could do a lot more in terms of decorating the room.

Pancakes were outstanding but service was the worst. Nice waitress but oh my...so slow! Was it her fault or the kitchens? We asked for another buttermilk pancake for achild and was told it would " take 10-12 minutes.". Seriously. Otherwise very good fresh food. A bit pricey

A great breakfast option in Stowe. Everybody enjoyed everything, including standard breakfast and the titular Dutch pancakes.

Decided to try it after reading the reviews and I was a little disappointed. I thought I would try it since my wife likes Dutch Pancakes, but we found them to be a bit doughy. For the price we paid for one pancake ($7), about 10 inches in diameter, we expected better. The atmosphere was nice and the choice of toppings was great, but I would try somewhere else.

The pancakes are good and filling, but the service was deplorably slow on a Monday morning. Many tables sat for at least 30 minutes with no water, coffee or food.
