Asiana House is the Montpelier version of the restaurant of the same name in Burlington VT. Same menu, same delicious Japanese/Korean food. We ate there for the 1st time last night having loved Asiana Burlington at New Years. (And this one is 30 min closer!) We started with their marvelous avocado salad, creamy with avocado and crunchy with cucumber. Then a couple of makis: Snow Maki, fantastic fried soft shell crab with avocado, and Alligator Maki, shrimp tempura with eel (unagi) on top. Goth great, the Snow Maki was a standout. Then my fave, Bi Bim Bab, served in a blistering hot stone pot to keep the rice, veggies, marinated beef and egg cooking (along with the add-your-own hot sauce) as you eat. Asiana is a terrific addition to the Montpelier restaurant scene; I don't know anything else like it and their quality and ambiance is great. Our server was great as well, friendly and attentive.

Formal dining and great food!! The sushi is the real deal and fresh. Great environment for meetings and fine dining. The vegetarian options are great and portions are large

Pretty good sushi for Vermont. Some specialty sushi rolls are too large but everything tastes fresh and the tempura is cooked correctly. Comfortable dining room inside of an old bank. Overall pleasant experience but not comparable to top city restaurants. But will definitely satisfy your sushi craving.

The restaurant is in a old bank, complete with a huge vault door in the main dining room which made it a neat environment. The place was clean and a nice setting for a large group or small. I'm a picky sushi eater and was pleased with my meal but not blown away. I'd go back again but probably before 3 PM to get the discounted lunch prices.

Superb food. Rolls so large it took three bites to down one piece of sushi. Expensive drinks but delish just the same. Awesome atmosphere. The restrooms were just as nice as the restaurant, I don't know why this is important to me, but it is! Overall fantastic. Sushi in Vermont that's good, 'bout time!

Asiana house is a very pleasant surprise for the middle of Vermont. We eat sushi almost every week and we're delighted with the food and Service. They have a very varied menu with some innovative rolls and appetizers. We had A beef wrap served in a pleasant sauce, excellent shrimp tempura, spicy salmon roll, Salmon and tamago sushi. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and served with a very well prepared rice. This place is a definite go if you have a need for sushi.

Truth be told, I'm a sushi (wait, maki or nigiri...I'll just called it sushi, ok?) newbie and I typically stick to the following: miso soup,. tempora, salmon/tuna roll with spicy sauce and avocado, edamame, and some chef's special sushi sashimi (my spell check is exploding annoying red lines, which I will now ignore)...At any rate, Asiana House (AH) is a welcomed treat for Montpelier. Before it set up shop on the corner of State and Elm the only sushi in town was a Wednesday evening traveling Wilburys shushi at Kismet and that was rather disappointing...THEN, out of the blue the Asian Gourmet opened in Barre...BARRE, I tells you! Now, Montpelier has a very good place for sushi. Location, Vibe: The cavernous State and Elm location has very solid acoustics for an intimate dinner for two or a large party. This location is teaming with denizens of Montpelier and the vibe is exciting inside. Food: The edamame was fresh one day and very dry the next; the miso soup was solid; the tempura was cooked to perfection (nice and crispy (is there any other way it should be?); the rolls were HUGE...My chief concern was that it took too many bites around the sushi roll to get to the center (like a tootsie roll sushi (but not as it SHOULD be)...Maybe girth is good in some circles but not, at least for me, in the sushi circle...The sushi/sashimi boat for one ($24) was plated on...wait...a boat! It was an SS Minnow of tons of food. There were succulent scallops, salmon, tuna (duh!) , California rolls (with fake crab (blahh!), and a wide champagne glass full of octopus (sticking to the SS sushi Minnow with a wasabi paste). One night AH ran out of salmon! Asiana House is no San Sai (on the Waterfront in Burlington) but it is a more than welcomed addition to the growing diversity of culinary flavors to hit Montpelier as of late...!

We have visited Asiana House twice now. The first time I enjoyed the tom yum soup. Today I had vegan samosas, sweet potato maki and Chih Chu Maki- all were delicious. Everything was fresh. The waitstaff was friendly and courteous. We will go back.

Coming from New York and looking for Asian food, this place really got the spot. Along with the other reviews, my husband and I were also very pleasantly surprised. My husband enjoyed the beef teriyaki and fried rice. I very much enjoyed the volcano maki and shrimp maki. They were bigger rolls than I expected. I would definitely recommend and come back to this place.
