One of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. A great take on corned beef hash with a mustard hollandaise. I'd say tied for first for best CBH I've had with the Taos diner, which was more traditional. The pancakes were tasty as well. Highly recommend!

This is an outstanding place for breakfast. It would be outstanding no matter where it was located. It is a quirky, charming, relatively small second-floor space located at the top of a flight of steep stairs. You will likely wait a while to be seated on a summer weekend, but the really pleasant and friendly servers will offer you a coffee while you wait. Even iced coffee in the summer. That does not happen in most places, and was very much appreciated. We sat at the counter and were served by a peasant, friendly woman. We ordered the Scandinavian, which is eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, and blueberry sourdough pancakes (!!!). We got sides of bacon and venison sausage with blueberries. Everything was delicious, but those pancakes were a revelation. So light, and so tangy. Beautiful with real Vermont maple syrup. We thought it was the best breakfast we had had anywhere in recent memory. It is not inexpensive ($37 for all that, plus two more iced coffees, before tip), but so, so worth it. GO!!!! (P.S. It is cash only).

Had to try this place with the great reviews that it has. Started off right with the offer of coffee while we waited for a table. We sat on benches outside on a beautiful morning. Once seated our friendly and knowledgable waitress Lydia offered suggestions that were spot on. The eggs Benedict were delicious. My only complaint was that the yolks were a bit overdone. My husband ordered one of the daily specials of crab cake andouille hash with poached eggs. Again the yolks were a bit overdone. We shared a short stack of pancakes based on their reputation on here and we were not disappointed. This is a little over an hour from where we live and we will be back.

If a place has "breakfast" in the name, then it's likely they don't mess with other meal times, and their focus on starting your day is clear. The folks at Up for Breakfast can probably write the restaurant manual on How to be an Outstanding Breakfast Joint. Day one: we're a bit late (nine-ish?) in terms of the crowd. After a short wait (enjoying the crazy steampunk antiques shop window downstairs), we were seated at the counter. This is the BEST seat in the house- because you can interact with the wait staff and the cooks. Oh, and if you really felt like it, you could refill your own coffee. No need, the wait staff are on top of things- hustling, but friendly and cheerful. I order the wild turkey hash, wife orders the Morning Glory pancakes. About the hash...whoa. I flinched a bit about the idea of turkey, but the "bits" (taters, onions, red (not green!) peppers) plus an incredibly peppery bite...yeah. Oh, yeah. Interestingly, around here (Manchester, anyway) they want to give you hollandaise with your hash. Screw it, longevity is not a prime concern of mine - fire away. The hollandaise is actually thinned out quite a bit into a fantastic gravy. Oh, and a side of blueberry venison sausage, because I can. The Morning Glory pancakes are as advertised: pancakes that taste like a morning glory muffin. This works, believe it or not. I want the recipe! Day two: we're early arrivals -around 8 I guess. This is the way to go. No line queued up, plenty of open tables. We both order bennies and are happy. Yay, more hollandaise. Listen to my arteries hardening, crackling like ice breaking up on the Great Lakes. The only issue I have is that the chef really likes his eggs over hard- so maybe spell it out for them if you feel differently.

Truly excellent experience. The restaurant staff was awesome. They greeted us warmly and gave us coffee while we waited for a table. Our server Lydia was fun, knowledgable and excited about the food. All of her suggestions proved spot-on and helpful. I chose the Crab Andouille Hash. This was one of the most creative and well executed breakfasts I've ever had. Tons of crab, seasoned with tangy andouille and a bit of potato, topped with a poached egg and fresh hollandaise. The hash was very crispy which made an awesome textural contrast to the egg and sauce. I couldn't get enough of it. The flavor was very unique and memorable. My husband had a traditional Benedict which he likedvery much. It looked great. And we shared a short stack of flavorful buttermilk pancakes. The oodles of melting butter and hot maple syrup were excellent touches. I think it's hard to find restaurants with creative breakfast menus. My dish was a daily special, but there are dozens of dishes on the regular menu I want to try. We'll find plenty of reasons to drive through/to Manchester so we can try them all!

Waited 35 mins late morning and was thinking this place can't be That good and worth the wait.....but oh it was! 2nd floor walk up breakfast bodega of the Gods with farm fresh to the table eggs, bacon sausage and veggies. Plus Vermont cheeses and maple syrup. Homemade scones, oatmeal, pancakes, hash and more. Fluffy pancakes & Belgium waffles check, daily specials check, fluffy omelette check! Friendly service you got that too. I had the special breakfast sandwich with avocado andouille sausage patty with melted farmers cheese on a toasted croissant, fresh pink grapefruit slices on the side, OMG! My friend had poached eggs smothered in hollandaise sauce over wild turkey hash. Best breakfast in a long time, and the fresh baked handmade scones looked delicious also. Can't wait to go back.

Great place to come after some hiking on Equinox. It gets crowded and busy but there's plenty to do in the area while you wait after putting your name down. Cash or check only. If you use one of the major banks like Chase or BOA you're out of luck with ATMs around here. Hit up Rite Aid and use Cash Back on a small purchase or something like that. The food here is pretty great and portions are big. Between our party we had the Wild Turkey Hash, Hungry Hiker, Red Flannel Omelet, Bistro Omelet, Corned beef hash, and the duck sausage. Everything was so good and everyone was stuffed. Worth the wait, without a doubt.

This is just about the best breakfast place you can possible imagine. We've made a thing out of eating here before we leave Manchester (we vacation here from time to time). The food is great. The coffee is only ok. The hash is great. The steak and eggs is freaking the business. Jolly and busy and small and cramped.

Come here every time we're back visiting family and always have a great experience. Even when they're busy, we get seated in a timely manner and the staff is always super friendly! Have eaten here probably 10 times in the last 6 years and never had a bad breakfast. Eggs Benedict is on point and consistently awesome, just like the sweetheart staff! Highly recommended!

It starts with the hostess skipping people because we're a party of three but the table seats 4...I finally went to look at the list and noticed 5 people had been crossed off AFTER our party. I finally stepped in and commented on this and she finally seated us. The food tastes good I will say, however there was half of an eggshell in my turkey hash so I was off put. She whisked the food away and brought a new one back a few minutes later. It didn't taste good and everyone was rude. Everyone else enjoyed their food at the table but we all admitted that the chaos and disorganization is NOT worth it. What's the point kid eating good food if you're seething on the inside about being ignored etc. no food is worth it in my opinion. The staff is just awful-not apologetic just full of excuses.

Cute and cozy breakfast spot in the quaint town of Manchester VT. Expect to wait especially on a Saturday or a Sunday. You can tell this a locals' favorite, which was a great sign to start! Very crowded but quick service and turn around time. I got the sourdough blueberry pancakes and sausage, which was good. Next time I would probably opt for the buttermilk pancakes - they looked big and fluffy- and well, to die for! Prices were okay, a little on the expensive side for breakfast but not too bad. Service was good, we sat at the diner so we got to watch the busy cooks working their magic which was pretty cool!

I make a pretty badass omelet myself, so I have rather high expectations for country breakfast spots. UFB met my expectations, and then some! The "Red Flannel: Omelet was three eggs stuffed with corned beef, VT cheddar cheese, onions, etc. was awesome! Is there a happier way to start the day than corned beef & eggs (with your clothes ON, I mean)? The side of bacon (because I had to try the VT applewood bacon) was thick cut, very smokey, and delicious. The home fries were good , although the had a touch too much seasoning for my taste. My friends liked everything they had as well. And special kudos to the owners here for the excellent quality gluten free toast option! That was such a nice treat, since I usually have to decline the toast accompaniment. UFB gets very crowded, and it's a small space, so they do hustle you around a little but it's understandable, since there are often more hungry diners waiting than there are tables. My only complaint about UFB is the coffee. Is this not Vermont -- land of excellent Green Mountain coffee? Well I don't know what kind of coffee they used here, but it was weak & watery. My suggestion? Drop the fluffy flavored coffee option and have a dark roast option for real coffee lovers. Overall, this is a terrific breakfast spot in Manchester. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their eggs & pancakes as much as we did. Highly recommended! You do have to climb a flight of wooden stairs to access UFB, so this is not for those who can't do stairs. And there isn't much aisle space between tables, so leave your backpack, stroller, or big shopping bags in the car.

This place is delicious, home made and from the heart. The chef is the owner, rustic cuisine, small restaurant located upstairs in Manchester town. Cute, cozy atmosphere, they can definitely lose the carpet and replace it with some hard wood or laminate. Anyway food is great, my bf got the special with firecracker Benedict; poached eggs, jalapeño tomato, spicy hollandaise sauce on an English muffin, home fries are fresh potatoes, crisp. I got the Bistro omelette with eggs whites (I wanted), Brie cheese, apples, Vermont smoked bacon, delicious, could have been cut up in smaller pieces, and Brie cheese on top not inside but still delicious and different. I'll be back for more, gotta try those pancakes and waffles.

This place is simply amazing. It is a must for anyone within 50 miles of Manchester, VT. I had the Wild Turkey Hash with poached eggs, hollandaise and sour dough bread. It had what tasted like a sage dressing component that made it an absolutely singular dish. It was as if I died and had breakfast in Heaven with an angel (my GF Marianne was with me :-). Marianne enjoyed a breakfast sandwich (egg, bacon, grilled multigrain and which was grilled, huge and came with home fries and looked every bit as delicious as my hash. Seriously folks, I sparingly give the 5th star. This place was small and unique. The food was delicious. The people were happy, attentive and delivered a very nice experience. The music was great! I told the owner I wanted to sit there until I was hungry again just to try something else on the menu. Some observations/tips: (i) Bring cash - it is cash only (ii) Get there early, it is small and amazing and I bet in season you have a long wait (iii) I think it is a $$$ place ($44 for two with tip) (iv) look at the menu while waiting and order when you sit - help them turn tables and don't be a dope and linger over coffee, it just is not that sort of place. Get your awesome, flavorful, filling, fresh, locally sourced, unique food and get on with your day!

Yes, 5 stars! I've been here twice now and was not let down.... Neither were any of my friends. If you can wake up early to avoid the lines as they can get quite deep on the weekend. The menu is creative and specials are to die for. I've had the blueberry pancakes which were amazing, when they were served they had a nice crisp. I've also indulged a french toast special which had blueberries and walnuts, even better then the pancakes. Maple syrup was served warm and the coffee had a continuous pur. If you have the chance try the raspberry jam. The owner, makes this from scratch. Maple syrup and jam are available to purchase. The servers are so helpful and friendly if you can't decided what to order they will help you out. I'd visit every time we are in the area. And I'm already looking forward to the next time.

I think I ate here in 2004. I have literally dreamed of these pancakes since then. Delicious is an understatement. Ambrosia of the gods is an understatement. My goal is to go back here, wait way too long, and then sit down, and never, ever leave. So. Good. I had eggs with smoked salmon in them, I think.

Another excellent breakfast. Wonderful menu and staff. Short wait times. I had the wild turkey hash, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. My wife had the venison blueberry sausage and eggs. A must when in Manchester.

Absolutely rude service, I said thank you for everything and never got a " you're welcome". Not to mention you don't feel welcomed at all, very unfriendly staff.

Breakfast is outta this world!! I had the special - french toast made with homemade pumpkin zuccini bread topped with pears. It was ah-mazing!! The Maple Latte was also delish. The only problem with this place is the size... The place is well known for its food and its very small inside. It was super crammed inside waiting for a table (but it was a Sunday on a holiday weekend) The women who work there are incredibly nice and attentive.. Which is pretty incredible considering the number of people in there demanding to be fed!

Everyone in my party liked the food. The waffles were crispy and delicious. The place is small and cramped. We had a lovely view of the roof next door. They only take cash or checks.

I am so disgusted with the service that I had to sign up for yelp just so I could write this review!! We ordered food for pick up and had to wait 20 minutes in front of the entire restaurant before we could cash out. A waitress came over and told us to wait for the owner (apparently, she isn't allowed to run the cash register??). Finally, the OWNER of the restaurant came over, took my money, and then proceeded to yelled at me for not tipping her! It was a pick up order!! Since when do owners take tips? More importantly, I would have considered tipping, although it is not standard practice for pick up orders, if she wasn't so disgustingly rude! Her behavior convinced me NEVER to return to the restaurant. if you want to go to eat jazzed up diner food and be treated like garbage, this place perfect for you. If you want good food and good service, I do not recommend going here.

The food here is excellent. As mentioned it is a bit pricy but well worth it. Portions are huge, food is fresh, and the specials are very creative. They always have a weekly sausage special that is out of the ordinary (duck, squirrel, rabbit, etc.) and very interesting. I've been here a few times and had nothing but great service. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly.

I've been looking for a good breakfast spot in Manchester ever since Sherri's burned down, and this place seems to be my new go-to. The service here is great. Everyone is friendly and even when it's busy - you get fast and attentive service. Went here on a Saturday and Sunday and only had to wait for 2-3 minutes to get a table. Seems to be a quick turnover without feeling rushed. Omelettes are very good and so are the waffles. Definitely a fan of the raspberry jam on the table. Maple syrup - well, you would expect it to be very good and it is. Cozy atmosphere. Worth the short wait (if they're busy) and you'll have a quality breakfast that won't take up your entire morning.

After a long week of work, I wanted to treat myself to an amazing breakfast. And I'm sure glad I picked the right place. I was hesitant at first because of reviews on here that mentioned bad and not so friendly service. But I have to say that my experience was a positive one. I'm sure they knew I wasn't a local and was a visitor from out of town but they were friendly and seated me right away. Paula, who was my server, was greeted me with a warm smile and checked on me several times throughout my breakfast. I didn't have to wait long for the food which was delicious. I ordered the "Hungry Hiker" combo of 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links and 2 bacon with potatoes and because of the large servings, there was almost too much food! I saved the pancakes for last and when I took a bite, I almost wished I had saved more room to finish them off. They are probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had and I'm from Los Angeles where I think there are a lot of great spots. I don't know what magic they put in their pancakes but I'm definitely going back and might even just order a large stack of pancakes. The price wasn't as expensive and not as much as some of the other restaurants in the area. Thank you for being so kind to a stranger and for the amazing breakfast.

If you ever find yourself in the lovely quaint town of Manchester, Vermont, definitely come here for breakfast! It's about a 50 minute drive from Mt Snow and a perfect way to start off your morning. As the name suggests, the restaurant is only open for breakfast (through 1PM) and you literally have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the entrance. We got there by noon and waited about half an hour for our table. We scoped out the menu while we waited and were ready to place our orders the minute we sat down. - Wild turkey hash - This really tasted like Thanksgiving in my mouth. Fresh roasted turkey is sautéed with peppers, onions, mushrooms, potatoes, and spices. The hash is topped with two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce and served with sourdough toast on the side. Of course I pierced the yolk the minute the waitress set my plate down and gleefully watched the delicious yolk ooze into the nooks and crannies. This dish would have been perfect with just a bit more salt. - Huevos rancheros - The boyfriend ordered the open faced omelette topped with spicy tomato salsa, cheddar cheese, sour cream, jalapenos peppers and olives, served with homemade cornbread. This was actually my favorite dish and we swapped dishes halfway through. I loved how they folded the different ingredients into the thick, fluffy omelette - saved me the effort of mixing everything together! - Cajun fritatta - Our friend got this open faced omelette topped with fresh tomato, artichoke, andouille sausage and provolone, served with an English muffin. The fritatta was nicely browned on top and had a nice kick to it. The omelette was again delightfully fluffy - they're serious about their eggs here! Being the gluttonous, greedy beings we were, we also ordered a few sides to go with our main dishes. - Blueberry sourdough pancake - The restaurant is known for their pancakes, and we ordered a short stack of pancakes to share. Skip the sourdough and go straight for the fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The sourdough ones were very thin and the juices from the blueberries soaked through, making the pancakes semi-soggy. - Homemade corned beef hash - This hash was more potato and less corned beef. Great flavor but would have preferred more corned beef in the mix! - Wild boar with cranberries sausage - $4 for a small sausage link?? We love exotic meats and couldn't say no to wild boar and elk sausages. While I enjoyed the grilled gamey meat, I felt underwhelmed by the portions. - Elk with pear and port wine sausage - See above. This restaurant is cash-only so make sure you hit up the ATM before coming! I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the neighborhood.

We come here for breakfast every day we're in town. It is bomb diggity. I'd recommend their blueberry pancakes, and if you're a corned beef hash enthusiast, please get it here. Biggest bummer is that they're CASH ONLY. Come prepared!

Nice local place. They are cash only so remember to bring cash. Good friendly service, good coffee, and some different menu options. I ended up getting the Hungry Hiker, a platter with two eggs, bacon, sausage links, home fries, toast, and pancakes(lots of carbs). Everything was prepared well, and was better than your average breakfast platter. The home made jam was a plus. I would go back and probably would try one of their more unique options like wild turkey hash.

Great name. You do indeed go upstairs for breakfast. This is a quaint and "cozy" little breakfast spot directly in the heart of the Manchester, Vermont shopping district. I say "cozy" because it is bordering on cramped. It is in no way uncomfortable, but there is truly just enough room to move. If you sit on an outer table don't be surprised if the server reaches across your table to serve the guests at the table next to you. Really a minor inconvenience. The servers are overly friendly. They almost seem like they are all vying for the lead role in a play called, "Small Town Charm and Hospitality." The service is also extremely prompt which is great. They get you seated quickly, get your order in, and get the food out without making you feel rushed. I love that. They have it down to a science. The food itself was very good. The Hungry Hiker is a good option if you are absolutely starving, or just can't make up your mind about what you want. Pancakes, eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon and toast. Not much missing here. The bacon was absolutely delicious, but he pancakes were a tad bit disappointing. They looked very fluffy and light when they came out, but we dug in it was clear they were a bit dense. They still tasted pretty good, and my criticism may just be a matter of preference not poor execution. I had a pork roll that would make any New Jersey native proud. It was on the menu as a special, so don't be surprised if they don't offer it when you go there. The omelette selection looked fabulous, and they definitely know how to cook an egg. They also seemed to offer a variety of coffee, lattes, etc. which included a daily special. I wouldn't say this place is cheap for a breakfast spot. There is definitely a location premium, but the eats are good so I'm not going to complain too much.

My husband and I decided to go here during our honeymoon in Vermont because of the great reviews the place got and because we were looking for a place that would be open early enough for us to get a hearty breakfast because we were planning on spending a full day at Stratton Mountain. We weren't disappointed. Our server recommended the maple coffee, and lucky for us, we gave it a try. The maple flavor wasn't overbearing and they had soy milk - always a bonus for us! We ordered a side of fruit salad, which to our surprise wasn't the predictable varieties of melon mixed with grapes and pineapple - it actually had fresh banana and strawberry slices. We also got a side of the turkey hash which was perfectly seasoned and extremely filling. My husband ordered the blueberry banana bread french toast with caramelized apples and pecans (can you say mouth orgasm?) and I got the morning glory pancakes, which were packed full of good-for-you stuff like carrots, walnuts and cinnamon. We ate around 7:30 a.m. and I swear I was full until 2:30 p.m., even after falling and getting back up a few dozen times on my way down the mountain on my board. The staff here were super friendly, the food was delicious, the decor was cute and comfy and the service was fast and attentive. I just wish this place was in my hometown so I could come here more often!

Tasty, tasty, tasty! The pancakes are epic, large and so fluffy you'll want to pour extra delicious authentic VT maple syrup on top to keep them from floating away. We waited a short bit for a table, less than 10min, but were offered regular and gingerbread coffee to keep us toasty. The place is cozy, felt like being at grandmas house for the holidays. Will be back next visit to VT.

The food is fine, especially as an alternative to some chain. The service is horrid. We've been to Up for Breakfast a handful of times over the last several years and it's always the same. Prepare to be flat-out ignored unless you pull a credit card out of your wallet, in which case the waitstaff, who a moment before were too busy to so much as refresh your coffee, will descend on your table, directing you to put it away--cash only. The place just radiates irritation and unhappiness. We intend to investigate better options for our Manchester visits.

Excellent! All around had a great experience, enjoyed the Red Flannel omelette the portion was more then enough, Hot and flavorful, staff was very friendly and my coffee cup stayed full! Loved the flavored coffee option even though I'm a plain coffee kinda girl. Cute, cozy atmosphere seemed to be a favorite of locals as well. Tasty Jam on table a nice change to jelly in a packet! Would eat here again as well as recommend for a great start to your day!

This review is more about the service we received on our latest visit.... rather than the food itself. Up for breakfast has been a favourite of ours for a number of years. We usually visit while on vacation in the area. Our waitress was fairly normal till it was time to pay the bill. She did mess up my wife's eggs which were supposed to be well done but came out runny and mixed up our check with another customer's but we didnt complain or even bring it up with her, just exchanged checks with the other customer and moved on. When it came time to pay the bill which had come up to around $37, we also purchased maple syrup costing $55 for a total around $92.... I gave this lady a $100 billl and that set her off. She complained very loudly that she could'nt break such a large bill.... they had just opened and how I had just ruined her day and how this was such a hassle. I have no clue how giving me about $7 in change caused all this. In the middle of this drama I almost forgot to tip this lady... but not to worry she was pretty aggressive about reminding me about it. I genuinely do not think this person should have a customer facing job. As much as I like this place... having to deal with such a person will keep me from going back. I really hope the owners or managers at this place address this soon.

The name speaks for itself you have to go "up" for breakfast and let me start by saying this place is awesome. Me and my girlfriend drove up from CT for snowboarding and we happened to stumble across this gold mine there was a wait but well worth it the food was very good and the pancakes were out of this world I've never had pancakes with a hard crusted bottom the staff was very friendly I felt like I was right at home. I'm def coming back next time I'm in town.

This is a cash only place!!!! The food is not cheap and nobody told us this is a cash only place! Two star because the food is good or otherwise I would give it negative one star. (Eventually had to search for atm to withdrawal cash)

A great, quaint, down-home place to visit. It seemed like a family affair when we went - there was a young guy in the back working with an older gentleman. In the spirit of fantasizing about small-town USA, we'll say that they were a father and son... The food was great too - my partner-in-crime got a french toast on special, and I got pancakes with some pretty special venison and blueberry sausage. What a treat!

This restaurant just screams Vermont and I love it. From the hearty portions to the maple syrup bottles used for decoration, this is exactly what I expect from a southern VT breakfast spot. Me and my s/o actually ended up at UFB b/c we passed through Manchester on Easter Sunday and it was the only place open. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we ended up at the cozy restaurant. I was famished, so I ordered the Hungry Hiker - - eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon, toast and pancakes. I was thrilled that the HH came with pancakes, but unfortunately looks were deceiving. Although the pancakes appeared fluffy, they were a little on the dry side, even with loads of syrup. Overall, still very happy with UFB. If you're ever visiting Manchester, swing by, but bring cash. No credit cards accepted.

Great small quaint bfast restaurant. Good serving size for the price with great service. Cash and check only. Small place so come early or be ready to wait for a bit but worth the wait. Homemade Corn beef hash and avocado Gouda egg scramble was spot on. Big omelettes filled with tons of stuff not mixed in with the eggs.

Too much to choose from! Wish i had an extra stomach this morning. Blueberry venison was different and delicious. French toast special and wild omelette both a win for us, but Lingenberry and cream cheese took the french toast to desert level, in a good way....made the gourmet coffee even better. Came 15m after it opened as we heard it is super popular. No line or wait but soon filled was the modest sized upstairs diner. Come early. Staff was efficient and friendly. Kitchen super-fast.

This was by far, one of the worst, most over-priced diner breakfasts I have ever had. The food had barely any flavor and the service was extremely slow. We ended up wasting about $30 on a sandwich and turkey hash. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here.

4 stars! Great little spot! Reminds me of a place guy from diners drive in and dives should go to. Unique menu with all fresh home bfast specials. I will defiently go back when in in town again. One thing is they only take cash...

This is a quirky little place that serves a very good breakfast. When we ask locals where to go for breakfast they always suggest Up for breakfast. That was true ten years ago when we first stayed in Manchester and true this past weekend. Coffee is good, juice is fresh squeezed, options from omelets to turkey hash to a french toast my wife could not stop talking about. They can get busy and you may have to wait - its worth it and every server is friendly, efficient and attentive. The best diner in the world, no - but worth climbing the stairs - for sure!! PS - Cash only.

I don't get it. On the recommendation of friends and locals, my wife and I decided to try Up For Breakfast. I ordered the hungry hiker--eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes--and my wife had an omelette. While the staff of the restaurant were perfectly lovely and the vibe was good, the food was mediocre. Neither of us finished our plates. It wasn't terrible, but we don't understand what all of the hubbub was about. We'll try the Little Rooster Cafe tomorrow.

Absolutely love up for breakfast! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is quite small and can be hard to move inside. There is almost always a wait, but they'll give you coffee or something to get you through it. There is very little room inside, but room outside to wait. The food is always good, staff is typically polite. Whenever I have visitors I always make a point to get to up for breakfast once during their stay. Quaint, charming, perfect for a Vermont morning.

Wonderful Vermont country breakfast. Home made corn beef hash and eggs Benedict (homemade hollandaise sauce) were delicious. Big menu with lots of choices. Service was efficient and quick. Bring cash or check, no CC.

$5 dollars for a side of strawberries and approx $9 for an egg and cheese sandwich that was good, but not great. Too expensive. Food overall was good but I wasn't a fan of the service of the NYC/rush vibe. Note this was the 4th or 5th time there and unfortunately out last.

I recently went to this place using advice given on yelp by others, and I would have to say, the advice given on yelp is completely accurate. This was some of the best breakfast food that I have ever eaten. The blueberry venison sausage is an excellent companion to the morning glory pancakes, which were coincidentally some of the most flavorful pancakes I've ever eaten, and I would be glad to say I may never have a better pancake. This would obviously have to be accompanied by a friend that would order the corned beef hash with hollandaise sauce and sourdough toast, that would allow you to taste, as that was an amazing dish as well. Go to Manchester VT and go to this restaurant, that is all.

Best breakfast in the Southeastern VT area. Fast service, creative breakfast specials, and a warm and friendly waitstaff. Even though it can be tough to get a table on weekend mornings, the staff allows you to drink tea or coffee while waiting for a table. The sausage and biscuit breakfast special was incredible, and the eggs benedict was delicious as well. If you're feeling indulgent, try the homemade maple cinnamon rolls!

This is a very nice cosy place for brunch. Food is great especially the omelet's. I found this place slightly over priced. I also wish they accepted credit cards. Overall good experience...

Well, I have some mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, the food, which is the most important thing, is great. The selection is robust and includes some unique items such as wild turkey hash and specialty sausages (I tried the elk with port wine off the specials menu). Portions are more than ample, service is fine and the location is cozy and oozing with local Vermont color. So why just four stars? Two reasons: first, things are, like many things in Manchester, a tad over the line on the priciness factor ($75 for breakfast for 4 before tip!!!) and second, they don't take credit cards. Our total with tip came to $90 - it's rare that I ever have that much in my wallet, and the sign announcing cash only is small and not terribly prominent. Fortunately, there is an ATM in convenient walking distance, so I did not end up doing dishes in the galley. So to wrap it up, a fine place for a delicious breakfast in Manchester, but rob a bank first before going.

Well, the fact that I'm writing this review close to 1 AM will verify that I'm not really much of an early morning wakey person. To tell you the truth, breakfast is a meal that I most despise above all others, along with the daylight part of the AM in general. The one major exception to this rule I make though is an early morning trip to "Up For Breakfast" whenever I happen to find myself in Manchester, VT (which is often and is also where I find myself right now). The name is a double entendre because not only are they open just for the first meal of the day when you wake "up", but you'll also have to trudge up a very steep set of stairs to sample the delicacies this second story eatery has to offer. The climb, not to mention the early rise is more than worth it though. This locally run restaurant will have even the most die-hard night owl, morning hating, breakfast despising curmudgeon of your group singing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!" due to the food they serve here. They've certainly converted me! My favorite is the "Wild Turkey Hash": A dark turkey meat hash with two poached eggs on top, doused in a lemon Hollandaise sauce served in a ramekin that was put under the broiler. Sorry guys, but I can't begin to describe how good this stuff is to get your blood flowing in the A.M. Comes with thickly sliced, perfectly toasted sour dough (P.S. - I also hate[!] sour dough! Love this stuff, though) bread. Even after a very hard night of partying a few seasons back, just the thought of that stuff from UFB made me bound out of my bed at 7:30 the next morning to drive down there in the freezing cold for some of their delicious grub. The coffee ain't all that strong by NYCer standards but it does the job. It's hot and the all too able servers keep it flowing generously. The juices are fresh squeezed and tasty for your sugar rush, and the exotic pancake concoctions they come up with here are all winners. Needless to say, the honest-to-God *REAL* VT maple syrup adds to the experience. Also their Eggs Benedict and Salmon Benedict are about the best I've ever had in my life. I've not sampled their muffins, but due to the popular nature of them, they must be great. They sound great. Some of the stuff on their specials menu sounds more suitable for lunch than brekkie (see the "Lamb Hash" on the "Specials" pic I posted: yelp.com/biz_photos/g6eB… . That's why I'm glad they're now open until around 2PM. I've never been there past 10AM, it seems the earlier you go, the less time you'll have to wait (especially in "leaf peeper" and "ski bum" seasons), but that Lamb Hash sounds great at about 1PM. Next time, definitely! Maybe even tomorrow morning/afternoon? ;-)

This place is awesome. The thought of walking up the narrow stairs to the entrance makes me want to hi-five someone. UFB has an extensive permanent menu of omelets, pancakes, french toast, etc. The Hungry Man, an omelet with peppers, onions, cheese and corned beef, is my personal favorite. Also, check out the game-meat sausages. A caveat to first timers - UFB isn't inexpensive and only takes cash. However, there's an ATM across the street just in case. Also, late breakfasts are not an option here as they close before 1. Accordingly, make sure you get Up For Breakfast!

Ugh, GROSS. What an overrated spot. I was craving blueberry pancakes with Vermont maple syrup- and got dry, sad pancakes instead. My maple latte was inedible- way too sweet, even after asking for additional steamed milk to dilute it with. The OJ was supposed to be fresh squeezed, but was Minute Maid or something similar. Maybe they are trying to manage their inventory during off-peak days? The service was awful, even though we were practically the only diners in the place on a Wednesday. The 1 star is for the Purist egg white omelet- it came with a good amount of veggies and was not greasy. I need to go back to NYC and have me some Clinton Street Bakery to satisfy my pancake craving.

Go to the ATM first...a diner-quality breakfast for two...for $30? Without tip. Really? Cute place; food was fine in a greasy-spoon kinda way; service was fine; overall average but WAY overpriced.

very nice place for breakfast and brunch. It opens at 7am, great for travelers like me to start a morning with quick and delicious breakfast. I had a omellette with salmon and cream cheese. First time having omellette with seafood. It was very good! The food was a lot!! Very full I will recommend this place to my friends who are travelling to Vermont

Fresh, good coffee. Fast, attentive service. Had the wild turkey hash with sourdough toast (excellent) and the Scandinavian eggs (poached eggs over smoked salmon and greens with sourdough as well (also excellent). For the amount of food the pricing was a bit on the high side, but the ingredients are of a much higher quality than those at a diner so don't expect diner prices. Cash-only, which was a pain when I had to cross the street to Berkshire Bank, which charged me an insulting $3.50 to use the ATM. Wonder if the bank gives this place a kickback on that little arrangement... All told I'd come back for sure (with cash next time). I'd be confident in getting a good meal again. What else is there?

  • Stephanie D.

This is, hands down, the BEST breakfast I have ever had at a restaurant. I had the wild turkey hash, and my fiance had the venison sausage benedict (on special). They are both A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Whether you're local or just visiting, DO NOT MISS this gem!

  • Mickey M.

Went here on a Friday morning of a long weekend in VT, with every intention of going elsewhere for each of the next few days. However, the fluffiness of the pancakes, the awesomeness of the different coffees each morning, and the great daily specials brought us back to this place every morning of our weekend in VT. Fluffy pancakes, unbelievable sourdough french toast, cinnabuns to go, and buffalo sausage! Sourdough french toast! Yes, I said it twice, but that's because you really should try it. Have the sourdough toast, then you'll imagine it as french toast and it'll blow your mind. The Hungry Hiker is a challenge...and you may not eat for the rest of the day as a result. The space isn't big, but they do a great job rotating people in and out of it. I will undoubtedly return here, because it was awesome each time I was there! 1 note: Bring cash. They don't do cards.

One of the many hidden gems in Manchester, VT. Everyone on the breakfast menu is tasty. The place is small so expect a wait to get seated.

Best breakfast in the area. Great french toast and morning glory pancakes. Other dishes with artichoke and chorizo. Good coffee and the kids love the hot chocolate. Quick service, once you get seated. Bottom line - we go as often as we can.

Simply the best place to have breakfast in Manchester. Have been coming here for 20+ years. Remember, getting up w/my Dad at 5:30am - driving down from Bromley to have first crack at the "chalk board - workman's special" (throwback), but if u got there too late it was gone!

  • Eric W.

The poached eggs came out hard as rocks the first time, and after suffering our waitresses attitude we were brought another set "see if you like these". They were raw, with water from the pot floating on the plate. They used the same bread and sauce from the first failed attempt. This place either has its 'b' players today, or they've gotten way too comfortable with the good reviews they've received.

I wish I could eat here every weekend. I could NOT decide what to eat because everything looked amazing! My boyfriend and I eventually split the Eggs Scandinavian (a smoked salmon twist on eggs benedict) and one of the weekly specials which was Blueberry Banana Oatmeal Bread French Toast topped with Warm Pears and Walnuts. YUM. The service was very friendly and the decor was delightful. If I am ever within a 50 mile radius I plan to stop here again.

BEST BRUNCH EVER!!! This restaurant is AMAZING. The pancakes fluffy, the bacon and sausages savory, even the ice- tea (rasberry) is worth mentioning. The service was excellent and the ambiance was quaint and cozy. ITS A MUST WHILE VISITING VERMONT!!!

The pancakes are amazing The turkey hash is divine The expertly cooked bacon is a perfect piece of swine I love this place so much it makes me want to rhyme. Seriously though. I was in the area for a long weekend and wound up going there three days in a row because I couldn't bear the thought of going somewhere else. If the commute from Brooklyn wasn't so far i'd go there everyday. If you are in the Manchester area or even Vermont, you MUST go here. Please note: cash only

As Johnny Cash sang, "I hurt myself today." Yeah, there was nothing on this plate that was good for me. The three scrambled eggs and home fries weren't so bad. But for a guy used to an egg white omelet on a flax, oat-bran and whole wheat tortilla, it's a departure. It's the spicy sausage and bacon in white gravy over a biscuit that will no doubt kill me. Seriously. Not just fresh spicy crumbled sausage. Not just crumbled apple smoked hand cut bacon. Not just some thick and creamy gravy. Not just a giant biscuit. This was a gastronomic speedball! I don't know the lethal dose, but I'm told by my internist that it's kind of a cumulative thing. This was a breakfast to be remembered. Seriously delicious. This was coffee to be remembered. Seriously bad, but with food this good, I can deal. This was a waitress to be remembered. Seriously (needlessly) brusque. In fact, she's the one star off what ought to be a five star review. I might not have thought much about her rudeness if it had been only to me. My offense was not being ready to order right when she wanted. But, after leaving the place, almost every one of my companions had some kind of beef about her attitude. When leaving a breakfast joint with food this good, ALL conversation ought to be about just how good it was. That it wasn't, is telling. I wish I'd had the time or space to try some of the other stuff on the menu. In particular, the venison and blueberry, or smoked quail sausage. On the way out, fresh hot cinnamon buns were coming out of the oven. I didn't eat another meal until late in the evening, when soup sufficed. There's a big flight of stairs, hence the name. Therefore, not handicapped accessible. We arrived at 7:30 on a Sunday morning and they seated about 10 of us at two tables, immediately. But, the place was full when we left by 8:10 or so... be prepared to wait if you arrive any later.

There isn't anything not to like in this place unless you don't have taste buds. Small, quaint and homey, Up For Breakfast is characteristically "up"stairs - and if you blink you will miss it so keep an eye out to the left and drive slow as you head north on 7 less than a block past where it intersects with Route 11. HINT: If you pass Rite Aid and the Mobil station you've gone too far.) We've loved everything on the menu and regularly drive 1.5 hours to eat here. The wonderful "mom-like" staff serve their specialty coffees in color coded cups and dote on your every need, even when it's super busy - which it always is, (a sign of a truly great restaurant.) Huge portions mean that if you eat here you won't have to eat again for the rest of the day. TIP: Be sure to try the venison blueberry sausage!

Hour wait on a sunday morning, yikes! very crowded but they do a good job of managing it and keeping people's names. Cute atmosphere and large menu. Pancakes were amazing, don't bother getting anything else! (we all got egg dishes which were good, but nothing exceptional) mother got corned beef and hash which was a no. Was not too bad a drive into Manchester from stratton which had no brunch places!

Up for Breakfast is one of the highlights of our little weekend get-away to Manchester. My husband had a special benedict that had jalapeno bacon. Their hollandaise was silky and rich without being too heavy. I had The Standard: two eggs, home fries, toast and a choice of meat. On other Yelpers' recommendation, I chose the venison sausage. It was delicious - lean and flavorful, not too gamey. Our experience was so good, and the pancakes other guests were having looked so delicious, we came back the next morning. We shared the blackberry and walnut pancakes with sides of turkey hash and jalapeno bacon. I was expecting standard pancakes with little bits of berry and chopped walnuts. We got huge berries and walnut halves. There were so many berries and nuts, it was as if they used the pancake batter to bind the filling. Easily the best pancakes I've ever had, and with the warm Vermont maple syrup, it was downright heavenly! The bacon was so good, hubby wanted more. We're not sure how, but they made the bacon so spicy and delicious. The turkey hash was flavorful. This little gem is kind of tucked away, but it's worth seeking out, and definitely worth the wait. Portions are large and service was friendly both days. If we had a third morning to spend in Manchester, we would have gone back a third time. We'll just have to come back up to keep exploring their extensive menu.

We decided to come here for breakfast after driving by the day before. The line of people waiting out front told us that we'd made a good choice. We walked up the stairs (its on the second story) and gave our info to the waitress/staff member that greeted us. We were only a table of 2 so we only had to wait about 10 minutes. We were graciously asked if we'd like some coffee while we waited! I don't know if that's standard procedure but it was nice. We were seated within the 10 minute time frame and given menu's and our drink order (Macadamia Nut Coffee) was taken. The menu was awesome, they had a make your own pancake combo section with 4 different types of batters and tons of different mix-ins. They also had a nice specials menu with interesting and tempting options. My boyfriend opted for the Blueberry Buckwheat pancakes with a side of Wild Turkey Hash and I got a Breakfast sandwich with their own homemade sausage, onions, peppers, grilled tomato, and a side of yukon gold potato homefries. I won't beat it to death, suffice to say that the food was Excellent. It was cooked to perfection, and brought to us within record time. It was delicious. The only issue I have with this place was when it came time to pay our check, we were told that they don't accept credit or debit cards, only cash or check. So I had to leave the restaurant (my boyfriend stayed at the table) and walk down the street to a convenience store and use their ATM. A little embarrassing to say the least. I did check carefully on my way back to my seat to see if there was a sign posted noting this and there is not. Bottom Line: The food is excellent (but pricey for breakfast-$35 dollars for 2 people) and they only accept cash or check, so stop at the ATM before you hit up this place.

    (4)
  • Mike L.

Probably the best blueberry pancakes I have had in my life, and they keep the syrup in a coffee pot on the burner so it is nice and warm and pours like water. They offer a great menu that is a bit more diverse than the normal breakfast fare. i had the turkey hash which was onions, peppers, potatoes, pine nuts, and turkey topped with 2 poached eggs and covered in hollandaise. it was as if eggs benedict and turkey pot pie had sex. I also tried the special rabbit sausage which had a great sausage taste with a little extra kick to it. Two things to keep in mind; bring your wallet, its a little pricey but you get what you pay for and they only take cash or checks. And second, prepare to wait. Not a really long time, but the place is really small and very popular.

Avoid this place . Beyond overrated. The eggs were overcooked, hair in the eggs , service was RUDEST I've ever encountered. WAY OVERPRICED. DO NOT GO HERE !!!!!! Filthy

    (1)
  • BD Traveler R.

The food was average - standard breakfast fare, but quite overpriced for what you get. A side of hash was $6. A small oatmeal for one of the kids? That'll be $5, oh and the raisins are extra. At least if it is going to be expensive the food needs to be of exceptional quality (it isn't), or the portions need to be huge (they are typical). And, they need to accept credit cards (they don't). I had to leave and go get more cash, as it was more than I expected...

    (2)
  • David T.

I'm writing this simply because Lisa R. said "avoid the pancakes". Unless this is a nutritionally based recommendation I would suggest perhaps she is unclear about what a pancake is, and how it should taste. After all, George Washington came here for the pancakes as did Kurt Cobain and Socrates. These be sweet cakes. Enjoy.

We both had breakfast specials and they were so good! Mine was a french toast special and my husband had a fritatta of some sort. Service wasn't super quick, but it's busy. Be prepared to wait if it's after 9am on a weekend.

  • Vanessa P.

I've been coming here for ages and I love it. The pancakes, any variation of them, are spot-on fantastic and served with hot syrup. Their french toast specials are unique and amazing. They even offer soy milk, veggie sausage, and veggie bacon. That said, your experience here will vary greatly depending on your server. One day you may have the most fantastic, friendly waitress who is attentive and great; the next, you may never receive water, watch your food wait on the counter while the cook calls for the waitress to bring it out, and hear said waitress talking in detail about her husband (or father?) having e. coli. That's kind of a mixed bag, but worth the risk. The food is great every time. Definitely make it a point to get here, and early, as it's small and can get crowded very fast. It's one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to, and I miss it dearly when I'm not here.

  • Laura S.

The breakfast here always leaves you full, very satisfied but wanting more. For the exemplary quality of the food the wait time and service are not long at all and are actually quite impressive for such a small space. You will never be disappointed here because every menu item is amazing, and you have the ability to ask for food cooked to your specifications. A required stop if you are coming in to or through Manchester or the area.

  • Debbie W.

Absolutely adorable. This cute little second story breakfast nook could easily be the set of a hit sitcom (hitcom?) and the breakfast itself was everything you hope to find in a tiny little vermont village. Fresh eggs, picture perfect oatmeal with fresh cream and brown sugar, venison sausage, and everything just feels healthy. The only disappointment was the fresh fruit which was just diner fruit, but overall, this is a great place to start off a beautiful drive through the vermont countryside. One tip-- if you know you might not be stopping for lunch, skip the healthy eggwhites breakfast and load up on geat bacon, real eggs and fresh squeezed orange juice. Its worth it.

We got up early and wanted a nice breakfast. Up For Breakfast was open at 7:00 AM and fit nicely into our hiking schedule. We decided to sit at the counter rather than a table. The staff was very friendly. Our orders arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The pure maple syrup was warm and the jam was delicious. There was a scent of cinnamon in the air and I soon found out why as someone brought out a half dozen cinnamon buns to the front of the restaurant. I couldn't resist and they were nice enough to wrap mine to go in plastic wrap so it would still be fresh when we finished our hike. The prices were a bit high for breakfast, but the fresh quality of the food was worth the extra cost.

  • Cheryl J.

We've been here many times and enjoy the cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Simple egg dishes with hash brown potatoes are very good, and the bacon has a nice smoky flavor. However, if you like huge, dry pancakes with no taste that look like small pillows, then this is the place for you. The sight of these behemoths is enough to take your appetite away! The only taste you can identify is the butter and maple syrup. The blueberry pancakes are slightly better with fresh blueberries. I'm sure the chef can come up with a better pancake that is more appetizing and homemade instead of the institutional type product that is served here.

  • Ben H.

Up for Breakfast serves the best buttermilk blueberry pancakes. The home-made butter on top of the stack delicately dripps off into the mote of Bob's Maple Syrup surrounding this breakfast delight. Eat slowly, savor and enjoy the splendor of a true VT breakfast. But then you better hustle on over to the Equinox Hotel for their outstanding cider donuts - they stop serving those round treats around noon.

Really cute breakfast spot. Was in town for a wedding and everyone was insisting we MUST go here for breakfast. Never one to turn down an opportunity for delicious breakfast, we acquiesced. Delicious breakfast, really solid portions. Don't attempt to come here while eating light. This is the place you come to eat breakfast like you mean it.

Yum-O. My very unopinionated (or mute) boyfriend who is the best companion for a foodie like myself, aka, listens to my endless yapping about the good and bad of food... finally broke the slience and said "This is the best pancake I have ever eaten in my life... my god". It really was oh so good. The fluffliness. The Vermont syrup. The fresh fresh smells everywhere. I wish I can eat this stuff every Saturday/Sunday morning... but sadly I can't be driving at 3AM just so I can make it for breakfast. Very home-y place, as if you're eating inside a neighbors kitchen. I am craving for those pancakes right now.... mmmmmmm

Mediocre at best. Decent coffee, but the food was sub par. Dry or drenched in butter. Avoid the pancakes. The service was even worse. Rude and dismissive. Go elsewhere.

I had the strawberry pear pecan pancakes, which were amazing. The OJ was fresh and delicious. We got a side of the turkey hash based on Yelp recommendations, but it can safely be skipped. Not missing much there.

A wonderful breakfast experience. Often a crowd. The key is to order a cinnamon roll while you wait on line to make sure they aren't sold out by the time you sit. Quite possibly the best cinnamon roll ever. The ladies who work the room are Manchester institutions. They are terrific people who make you feel at home.

Up for Breakfast is a great way to start the day. The food is all fresh and yummy. Especially good are the blueberry buttermilk pancakes with real maple syrup, the red flannel omelet (corned beef hash and cheddar) and the wild thing omelet (can't even really describe it, but starts with wild turkey meat and includes spices, pine nuts, mushrooms etc.). Specials always look interesting and fantastic. Coffee is OK. I'd give Up for Breakfast 5 stars except for a few things. 1. Be prepared to wait, longer than they tell you. 2. This is about the most you'd pay for breakfast at a non-gourmet restaurant, and they don't take credit cards. The food is totally 5 star though.

Breakfast is everything you could ever want it to be in this tiny kitchen located right in the heart of Manchester Center. This is one of the few places in Vermont that you are likely to see AMEX wielding, Prada touting New Yorkers on vacation happily rubbing elbows with a table of local farmers just in from the hunt, and you can throw in a few hippies for good measure to round out the experience. The ladies in charge emanate just the right amount of diner attitude while still maintaining that small town friendliness that you would hope for. They are quick and attentive even at peak times, which are basically from open to close. They keep your coffee cup filled and get you in an out without seeming rude. The food is truly an experience in itself. Blackberry walnut pancakes, Lemon poppy seed waffles, and Banana maple pecan French toast are just a few examples of the inventive specials that you can order. There are options for everyone on the menu. 300 pound linebacker cousin?: "The Hungry Hiker". Girlfriend on a diet?: "The Purist". Vegan?: Try the veggie sausage. Yes, you can eat healthy here even though to do so would be cruel. If you happen to be in the area and are in the mood for an artery clogging breakfast do yourself a favor and stop at Up For Breakfast.

Although this place was recommended to us by a local, I can't say that I would go back. Atmosphere wasn't very friendly and the food was just so-so. I would wait until 12pm and go to Gringo Jack's down the street!

As you head up on Route 7, you'll see a bunch of restaurants/pizza places/stores, Up for breakfast is right in the middle of this mix of stores. It's right next to Christo's Pizza and you have to walk up the stairs to get to it. There's a little maroon awning marking the entrance to the restaurant. We decided to grab breakfast here before the drive back to Boston as we didn't want to stop for lunch. It was the best decision we made on our trip as breakfast here is spectacular. I will probably make a trip back to Manchester just to eat their amazing walnut pancakes with divine maple syrup. The hot cocoa is to die for, skip the coffee and get this instead. I've never had venison before but the venison sausage was very good, a little different but good all the same. My friend had the roasted red potatoes and an omelet both of which I shared. The roasted red potato was good, nothing extraordinary there but the omelet was amazing. It was like they put crack in the eggs when they made it. Couldn't get enough of it! The service was great, very friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was full. Great crowd for people watching in the restaurant by the way so leave a few minutes after your meal to just stare and let all of that food digest (huge portions). If you are in Manchester, don't miss out on Up for Breakfast, you will regret it!

Great place. Delicious coffee. Great omelet choices. Fluffy pancakes. Very friendly and quick service. We went on Monday morning (with 2 kids) and had no wait for a table, and food was tasty and came out quick. Hope to be in the area again so we can eat here again!

Not impressed. Except for their pumpkin spice coffee -- delicious -- and fresh squeezed orange juice. I ordered the garden omelette - it was huge and way too thick. Should have gone to the Rooster Cafe!

Great breakfast. The menu has a lot of variety behind the omelettes, eggs Benedict, and pancakes. That said, the salmon and sausage was a bit too salty. The service was very good (expedient), but the wait and the heat given it rises and the bar seating is next to the kitchen kind of took away from the rest of it.

If you have young children, don't go here. It is very cramped. Might as well have pushed all the chairs and tables together like many NYC restaurants, however the food was outstanding. I had the brie, apple and maple smoked bacon omelette and while the omelette was hot and delicious, the potatoes were cold. They have a unique system of color coding the coffee cups, so rest assured, that if a staff member offers you a refill, they know what you are drinking. My husband had the homemade corned beef hash and was more than satisfied. The portions are huge and I loved the sourdough bread toast. I'd go again because I could not make up my mind what to have.

Yum, yum, yum!! I can still taste the blueberry pancakes smothered in delicious pure maple syrup and VT butter in my mouth. I'm wishing I had some of that delicious goodness in front of my right now. This was one of the best casual breakfasts I've ever had. My boyfriend had an omelet, which was also very good and had everything in it but the kitchen sink. The vanilla coffee was also very delicious... but the OJ did not taste fresh squeezed even though the menu said so. Maybe it was, but my taste buds rarely lie :-) All in all, ... I'm a fan. And will be back when I visit VT again!!

Wow large portions great food and service. Turkey hash with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, sourdough toast was amazing. Wife had the Scandinavian eggs with poached eggs, wilted spinach, smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce, and hash. Everything was delicious, esp the fresh cinnamon rolls with maple glaze, got 4 more to go! Will definitely make it back here!

One of my two favorite places for breakfast in the NorthEast (usa). Wonderful staff. Venison sausage. Fresh squeezed juices, fresh breads...all YUM! I've had some of the best breakfasts at this little place.

A bit of a wait and crowded but worth it. Buckwheat blueberry pancakes with warm REAL maple syrup. Outstanding raspberry jam and make-from-scratch hot cocoa. Innovation breakfast choices and reasonable prices.

This is a very good breakfast place!!! Cozy Little restaurant. The service was great, the kitchen is right in the open and they've got grandma cleaning the dishes. I once asked for something that wasn't on the menu and of course she just asked the chef and he said no problem, then the chef came up and asked how i liked it after, It was great. Good food and nice people.

OMG I loved this place. The choices for breakfast were creative and delicious. There were so many dishes I wanted to try it was hard to decide but I had poached eggs on pork loin with a wonderful mustard seed hollandaise sauce. They let me add spinach without a single hesitation or extra charge. If I have one "complaint" it was the amount of blueberries they put in the pancakes for my husband. It honestly was too much. Some bites were just blueberry and no pancake, But the warmed maple syrup was a great accompaniment. If you want blueberry pancakes just ask for half the usual amount of fruit. I'm not a flavored coffee drinker so the hazelnut/cinnamon didn't tempt me but the regular coffee was really good. We will be back because this is a cafe worthy to be a destination.

We went there for breakfast on Sunday. The wait was about 20-30 mins, but the manager put us on a list and offered us coffee/tea while we waited. The place was busy but had a good ambience. Unfortunately we were lucky enough to get a grouchy waitress who probably belonged more in New York City than Vermont. The food was overall quite good, but the "fresh squeezed" orange juice was Tropicana or some other concentrate. When we asked said polite waitress about it, she insisted it was fresh-squeezed with a tone that dared us to challenge her. To her credit, we later learned from other patrons that the owner pressures the waitresses to lie about the OJ and it's a well-known secret that it's out of a carton. What could have been a great experience turned out to be so-so. Though I want to like the place, I don't think I'll go there again...it's a big turn-off to be intentionally misled, especially if it's the owner herself doing the lying. And I did get a fresh orange juice, and a better waitress...at The Little Rooster not far from there..more pleasant, less hip and honest.

Solid spot, pancakes easily the best my wife and I ever had. Mediocre hash browns & over buttered toast only reason place doesn't get 5 stars. Cool ambiance, packed in off season, and definitely a must for breakfast if you are in the area. Cash only!

My husband and I spent four days in Manchester and had breakfast here the first morning...we came back a total of three times! Great service, delicious food, phenomenal pancakes!

Good fresh squeezed orange juice....coffee is not strong at all...typical diner coffee. Not a good place for vegans. There's usually a wait for a table as the restaurant is small.

I got stuffed frech toast which was awesome. Yummy. It is expensive though for breakfast and there were annoying people from Westchester next to us. You know, the type that thought they were so cool because they had the Sunday New York Times and realized they could wear non-Gap jeans and Deisel shoes after the age of 40. Oh and the fresh squeezed OJ was not fresh squeezed - I saw them pouring it from a cartpon
