Real deal local greasy spoon and bakery. The owners are lovely (a family owns and runs the place), the baked goods are like you grandma made, and there's nothing pretentious or put on about it. Good people, good food. Locals love it.

Ok, it's 8:09 pm, about twelve hours since I had breakfast here. And I'm trying to figure out how to get out there again. I am fantasizing about having the exact same breakfast! Kinda weird but that's what happens when I run across a place and the next day doesn't have me 600 miles away. First of all, I humbly apologize for not getting some pics of their donut case. Truth be told, I can't get too close or I'll cross over the event horizon and disappear. Never met a donut I didn't like and theirs look amazing. Second, the food is the thing but if it don't got that staff thing, pack it up. Your stomach may be fed but you soul will still be hungry. What can I say? Everyone is wonderful. Friendly, cheerful, they all know the regulars. Personalities instead of plastic smiles and manners. Third, SUPERB stick to your ribs, honest, diner food. Scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuit and gravy. That's me at the counter, cursing and laughing in amazement, having a grand ol' time. Bacon was thick. Eggs just right. Gravy was soooooo damn tasty. Biscuit was great. Heard the waitress talking about how they preferred the red potatoes. Where the f*** do you ever hear the front of the house talking about that stuff. Fourth, portion control was great. I have been known to overdo it and get up from the table in actual pain. Full but not straining. I can appreciate the art of haute cuisine, but it feeds my palate, not my stomach and soul.

Five breakfasts, all great. Good, friendly service. Awesome filled cookies in the bakery counter. If you are within striking distance, this is the place to eat. Bacon is thick, home fries are savory, pancakes will change your life, and your coffee cup never goes empty.

I love good pastries, and found just such a place at Bayside Bakery. Living in the southside of Greater Burlington area I never make it to the "North End". For a while there was a great Italian restaurant out there that we used to go to occasionally but then it closed. Today we had business to attend to in the Mallets bay area and my husband remembered he had heard of a good bakery out there. That is how we discovered the Bayside, a small Mom and Son bakery, breakfast and lunch spot. They close at 3 pm and we got there at 2:45 so the kitchen was closed but there was baked goods available. I had a jelly donut, something that if homemade can be delicious. The pastry for the donut was light and not exceedingly sweet, the filling was what I remembered from long time ago and the powder sugar messy as ever. My husband had a raspberry turnover with delicate pastry filled to the brim with raspberry. We walked out with a box of pastries: cookies, donuts and eclairs, I cut a small piece from the end of the éclair and was impressed with the amount of custard it contained. Will go the distance to try their food, however I am satisfied if it is just a good old fashion bakery.
