Cute little inn/old hotel located right in Chester, VT. We stayed here for easy access to skiing up in Ludlow...only about a 20 minute drive. They have two fireplaces always going in the main lobby and the bar area which makes it quite cozy! Rooms are all decorated in different theme/color combos which make it feel very much like a Bed & Breakfast but each room also has its' own bathroom! Free continental breakfast in the morning offered fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereals, coffee, tea, juice and also included a waffle maker and they had REAL Vermont maple syrup! We did not try the main dining options at the Fullerton but heard great things from other people that stayed here! We spent the end of every night in the bar by the fire enjoying some of the great Vermont beers they had on tap and playing cards. There is also a small library in the main lobby with various board games you could take out to play. There is also a fun 'giant' checkers table in the lobby! Overall we had a really great stay and it was a great price for a nice, comfortable experience. Would absolutely recommend it and stay here again!

Pricey, small portions. Food was so-so. They wouldn't count the flight of beers we had towards the restaurant.com coupon, and we were off by $1.34 and had to buy an overpriced dessert for six bucks. The waitress pointed to the coupon where it allegedly said alcohol didn't count, and I should have paid attention, because when I got home I purchased another certificate and it didn't say anything about alcoholic beverages not counting as part of the meal. Luckily, I was able to exchange the certificate for a better establishment.

Beautiful place to stay when you need to get away from realities of life! There are no TV's, but that is a GOOD thing! It allows you to connect with the person you're with and gives you a break from automatically turning the TV on when you walk in the room. The staff is so friendly and the continental breakfast is wonderful. My husband and I loved walking to the little shops around the Inn and we enjoyed dinner at their restaurant. Sitting in the beautiful lobby after dinner with a cup of hot cocoa was the best feeling. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Perfect little B&B! This is a lovely place to stay. I found this place on booking.com for a great deal. I booked a double room for my boyfriend and I. On our way up to the Inn, I called to let the reception desk know we were on our way - we were arriving fairly late. Turned out I had booked the room for the following weekend instead. The man on the line said its no problem, we'll have something for you when you arrive. Sure enough, he graciously accommodated us and didn't charge us a penny more. Yes, the room was small, but so charming. This is a bed & breakfast, not the holiday inn. The room was super clean and very cozy. I was very pleased. Yes, the bathroom was small, but again very clean. Not sure why someone needs a big bathroom. Do you hang out in there? The complimentary breakfast was great! Fresh fruit, bagels, pastries, yogurt, oatmeal, waffle maker, tea & coffee. Considerably, a nice start to my day. I wish breakfast was a little earlier. Maybe 7-9:30. This would be appreciated by the snowboarders/skiers. Yes, there is steam heat, it's awesome. Just trust that the inn has your best interest in mind and regulates the temperature very well. It is a beautiful old house and you can hear people walking up the stairs or closing a door, but that's part of the charm. If you're looking for a warm, comfortable place to stay in Vermont, try this spot. You will not be disappointed. Only 20-25 minutes from Okemo at a great price!

Worst dinner I've had out. Had to go home and cook something for dinner as we barely ate any of the food. I had the shrimp alfredo and it was not good at all. Tiny little shrimp and an alfredo sauce that was terrible. The meatloaf looked and tasted like something from a frozen dinner from the supermarket. Even the salad was not good. Just a giant wedge of iceberg lettuce with tomato, onion and bacon. Brought the leftovers home for the chickens. Waste of money! We have been there once before for lunch and it was fair. We won't be going back.

I will keep this review to a simple "what you get" and "what you don't get". This review is only for the inn stay, we didn't make it in time to eat at the tavern. What you get: A nice decorative and romantic bed with lots of blankets and pillows. Quaint and clean living quarters. Sink, *TINY* shower, toilet. Yummy partially homemade breakfast from 8-9:30. Good wifi connection and cell phone reception. What you don't get: A tv. Controllable heat. A bathtub (was sad about this). Privacy (you can hear a lot here if you know what I mean). Overall it was alright. I should have looked more into the hotel before I reserved it. I don't think I will be returning as it lacked the amenities I desired. I would still recommend it to an older couple seeking out a romantic weekend in Vermont. The owners were nice and those scones were so good!

This review is for the tavern. We were really looking forward to eating here but it was worse than some ski area food. The $20 fried ravioli seemed to come from a freezer next to frozen burritos, the burgers were all over $11 and an extra $2 for half cold french fries. Just horrible. We got charged for an extra beer but did not care because we just wanted to leave. The host was unpleasant and unhelpful but our waitress was great. They're on Groupon for a reason I guess. Second time back to see if we hit on a bad night...even worse. Waitress was inattentive, from after apps to the end of dinner I went without a drink. And she had the stones to highlight "Gratuity Not Included" on our bill. $9 for 3 Tyson chicken strips rolled in buffalo sauce. Mac n cheese was great though.

Just a note: I'm reviewing the tavern. We did not stay here. Probably one of the nicest waitresses/bartenders that we had encountered in our stay in Vermont. Too bad it was on our last night there. We stopped in at 8PM on a snowy evening because mostly every other place was already closed and we were hungry. We cozied up by the fireplace and enjoyed local brews for insanely awesome prices (this coming from a city girl who is used to paying $8-10 for a good beer). I got the seafood jambalaya which was delicious, but left us both hungry for more. My husband had the shepherd's pie, which was a bit pricy considering how much you got. If anything, go here for the brews, to hang by the fireplace (on the Tavern side) and just relax. The food is decent, but I wouldn't say this is the place to go.

Heading north to Manchester, VT, my husband and I spotted the super-cute and historic town of Chester. We made a note to stop there on the way home to check things out. Today (a Thursday afternoon), we made our way into Chester for some lunch. We noticed that people were dining outdoors on the large porch of the Fullerton Inn, so we decided to give it a try. The location is so quaint with lovely views of the town. The inn itself is so interesting and old. The waitress was extremely friendly, polite and attentive. I had the grilled cheese which had VT bacon, tomato, lettuce and a maple-mustard sauce and special bread. My husband had the BLT wrap which had a healthy amount of applewood-smoked bacon. On the side we had regular fries and "curly" fries which were hand cut and more like homemade potato chips in a swirled fashion. Everything was delicious! We couldn't have imagined a better lunch experience. After lunch we walked through this tiny town and visited the information center and historic cemetery. We would definitely recommend stopping by for lunch at this wonderful inn, restaurant and quaint VT town!

Good service and pleasant hosts. Inside could use a little remodeling - e.g. bathroom and heating. I don't have much experience staying at B&B since I'm not really into B&B, but I'd stay here again if I have to. A little light on the breakfast choice.

We have eaten here of several occasions, stayed here, and had our wedding here. First of all, its beautiful. For our out-of-town guests, its a very picturesque Vermont location. It was well priced, but we ended up going WAY overboard with extra food, which our guests still talk about because it was so good. The owner really supports local beer, which my husband loved, and the food, as a rule, is awesome, but special props go to Rene, who makes all the desserts, and who made our five teir wedding cake which was SO GOOD and much nicer than anything I thought we could afford. I think of it as more of a special occasion place, but its not crazy expensive. Our honeymoon suite was private and romantic. A lot of places in Vermont are billed as 'rustic' or 'country' and they're total dumps. This place is nice, and we wanted to stay this weekend but they were totally booked!!

So we didn't stay here but we did get together here with quite a few friends for a bite and many drinks on the night before our friends' wedding. Apparently they close at 9pm and were making a big exception to stay open later for us at the bar and they made sure we knew this by reminding us quite a few times. You'd think a group of 30+ people would make them happy (lots more tips than they're used to getting), but alas it made for a grumpy bartender. We ordered some food quickly before the 'chef left' and it was average at best. This could be the first time in all my years I've ever encountered a place that serves chicken fingers but doesn't have any honey mustard. Very odd. Other than that it was ok. They had quite a few Vermont beers on tap with many more selections in bottles, but maybe it was the large crowd we had but they pretty much ran out of every selection, prompting us to take the party elsewhere. I'm sure its ok if you're staying there and want a quick drink before bed, but otherwise, nothing too exception to write home about.

This review is only for the restaurant. We didn't stay here. The food was just ok. The salad, for example, was just a wedge of iceberg lettuce with a couple of tomato slices on the side. We had a discount coupon for the restaurant from a very well-known online site, which this establishment participates in. I'd never used this type of coupon before, so I wasn't sure exactly which code number to give them, as there were three different ones. The waitress, who was very sweet, was not at all familiar with the process so she got one of the owners (a husband/wife team) to help. He also wasn't knowledgeable about this. Initially, he was pleasant enough but he became exceedingly unfriendly as we together (apologetically, on my end) tried to figure out how to get the correct code. He kept returning to our table, glared at me, and loudly with unveiled annoyance stated that the code wasn't working. The other patrons could hear every word not to mention the tone used, and my daughter and I were extremely embarrassed. He made us feel like we were criminals, rather than people unfamiliar with this particular process. When we left, his wife said goodbye without even bothering to look up from what she was doing, and the husband didn't even say goodbye. I think the owners assumed we wouldn't be back, and so didn't want to expend any energy to be nice. Not what we would have expected from B&B owners.
