I wanted so badly to like this place. A bar dedicated to whiskey? A bar with over 100 whiskies to choose from? What's not to like? Turns out: quite a bit. What I expected in "The Whiskey Room": a dark and quiet Irish (or Scottish?) style pub; lots of whiskey; maybe some darts. What I got: sure there was lots of whiskey; but entirely too loud, and... well, I didn't see any darts. RE: "entirely too loud" -- WHAT WAS WITH THE TOP 40-STYLE TECHNO, YOU GUYS? Seriously. I enjoy some house music, but this was about the last thing I would expect to hear in this place. And at that volume? Months later and my ears are still ringing. (And why play pop house at all if you don't have enough of a floor for dancing? The Half Lounge already has the monopoly on this niche market.) I did enjoy my whiskies, and it *had* been a while since I'd seen any place carry Powers, but give me a break, you guys.

Fabulous selections of local farm fresh cheeses. Decent wine selection. Excellent whiskey selection. Terrific burger! Professional, friendly, and very helpful staff. Cute cozy atmosphere. Loved it all!

Cool atmosphere, amazing selection of whiskey, great educational flights, a little pricey compared to what I am used to but seems fair given compared to other local places for scotch. Don't let the relationship with Ri Ra scare you off.

Decent selection of scotches and whiskeys, though I didn't notice anything incredibly tough to find, other than the Pappy. Prices for their whiskeys are a bit steep--nearly half the retail price of a bottle. Some good cocktails, and generously poured. It was the atmosphere that left the most to be desired. While the dark wood was charming, perhaps it was the low ceilings that made the place feel a bit crowded and uncomfortable. It was also deafening loud, so much so that I couldn't have a conversation with the person across the table from me.

Whiskey. Whisky. ...and Friendly. Yes, both spelling are correct! Go check out their BOOK of a Whiskey menu and learn all sorts of neat stuff about Whisky! The bartender was amazingly friendly and worth talking to and tipping well. If you're a fan of the drink, do take a gander. (They also have great beers and cocktails.... by the way!)

Stumbled upon this place ...it is not on the town map. It was very nice inside...small, menu is very small for food...I had the hamburger, the meat was a little dry and overcooked for medium but it was pretty darn good anyway! A whole notebook for whiskey...the old fashioned was also good and good service!

one of my favorite places around church street. good place to grab great drinks. massive selection of whiskey. i recommend doing the duels. great value and you get to try a couple different things.

What a selection of whiskey! Very cool place! Very knowledgable staff, let them pick!

I'm in Burlington alone on business, and stopped in last night for dinner and a drink. I was blown away. I'm a total bourbon addict, and they have awesome selection. I went for the Jefferson's Presidential 25 year, which was delicious and smooth and everything I was looking for. For dinner, I had their signature burger, which is absolutely superb. I mean, seriously, this was one of the best burgers I've had in a year. Even if you aren't a whiskey enthusiast, stop in for one of their creative cocktails, or if you're a carnivore, have the burger. You won't be disappointed.

Old Fashion was an A++ in my book, which rules. Everything from the decor to the bartenders are great in this place. I'm so happy we spotted this little gem; the minute we saw the name we were stoked to try. Next time we come back to Burlington, we will definitely be back!

Beautiful bar. Delicious drink. However, painfully slow service despite there being no one there and incredibly overpriced.

The only place I've found in Burlington that has good whiskey, and thus the only place you can get a good Manhattan or Old Fashioned.

Went before a concert on a Friday night. The food was tasty, the place was chic but a little expensive for what you're getting. Fast and friendly service!

The Whiskey Room has the feel of a hotel bar. It's small & it is packed full of things to look at. The noise level can get bad if it's packed or something is going on at Ri Ra's. It isn't a place to hang with friends, no matter how much your friends may try to convince you otherwise. $8 for a pint of beer.

If you are into whiskey and have plenty of money to spend, you will love this place! The selection of whiskey is by far the best in the area, if not the state. The environment is typical of a whiskey or smoke room. Staff is very knowledgable and ready to offer suggestions based on your taste. The price is more than you will pay elsewhere for the same whiskey, but you will find options here that you can't get at other places. The dram pour size is a bit disappointing. When I'm paying $25-$35 for a single drink, I expect a decent pour which I get at many other places including small local pubs. Overall I would recommend because of the environment and selection. Just be prepared to spend some money or make it a special occasion.

Awesome food at a great price and a mind boggling whiskey menu. Great friendly service and warm welcome for this out of state visitor from Mike. Will ALWAYS stop in when I travel back to Burlington!

First time in the Whiskey room was a lot of fun. I am not a big drinker and especially do not go near the bourbons or whiskeys. I wanted to try something new so I got the Bourbon Bacon drink special which was $10. It wasn't as good as it sounded in the description. I think the bartender must have over poured because the drink was way to strong and the bacon was on the older side and tasted a bit stale. The next drink I got was something I am very familiar with which was a Vodka soda. It was very good and well made. I loved the inside of the Whiskey room. It was like a nice lounge where you can catch up and get a drink with a friend or where you can go on a nice whiskey date. Something I liked about this place was that it was connected with Riras. I am not sure many people like that but I thought it was great! I had a few drinks at the Whiskey Room then went to Riras with my girlfriend to go and dance! I did not have to stand in a line to get in either which was a plus. I cannot wait to comeback!

If you're looking to unwind after a long day at work or have a nice glass of whiskey this is the place. They have the largest selection of whiskey in the Burlington area, the service is spot on and the waiters and waitresses are very knowledgeable. I have been here numerous of times and never leave disappointed. Recently they upgraded to using iPads and you can view the entire menu with one click. Great atmosphere!

Best place in town to find your favorite whiskey, bourbon or any drink really. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and they even have rare finds (Pappy VanWinkle).

Owned by Ri Ra Irish Pub, says so by the receipt. Heavily heavily overpriced whiskeys, poorly made cocktails = huge waste of money (if you care about flavor/quality). Go somewhere else, seriously.

The selection here is amazing. The bartenders are great. But the prices are just too high. I come here every time I'm in Burlington but I may look elsewhere before I go broke. This place should be packed but it's almost empty.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place! I went pretty early (around 5pm) so I didn't experience the crowds or noise that other reviewers despised. The cocktail I had was delicious, and I appreciated the local cheese selections. Another party nearby tried to order Basil Hayden and they were out, which I thought was weird (that's why they lost a star in my book). I would definitely go back to try the deep fried Oreos (because seriously... they're deep fried Oreos!).

My buddy wanted to stop in for a nice scotch and we had no problem finding it. He had an awesome 18 year old Oban which I got to sample and it was amazingly smooth. I on the other hand went with the Bourbon St Cider which I really liked. Bottom line, if you can't find something you like to drink here, all hope may be lost lol

Uh, whiskey. Lots of it. In an authentic Irish pub that's been relocated from across the pond. In an idyllic college town. What's not too like? Service was a tad slow at first but friendly Manager Mike happened along, chatted me up and then made a great recommendation after hearing of my love of Lagavulin 16 yr. Prices are on the steep side but only from a VT perspective. You'd pay more in a big city or even a kitschy hotel bar in a medium sized city. I'll be sure to find my way here whenever I'm in sniffing distance.

I got Heady Topper here and made some great new friends. It was definitely a place I would visit again. Bartender was very nice and knowledgeable.

Stopped in for a quick drink after an hour of Burlington exploration.... Space -- Sophisticated Service -- Super friendly and attentive Food -- Good, well-priced Drinks -- Manhattan was (surprisingly) not well crafted... didn't taste any bitters or vermouth... strange? I'm guessing the drinks are usually better executed, but we came in pretty early on a weekday so I'm thinking maybe we got an inexperienced 'tender. Any place alled "The Whiskey Room" should be able to make a bangin' Manhattan. On that count I was left pretty unimpressed, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Whiskey room was great when it first opened. People looked nicer and I really enjoyed the atmosphere.... Then, it happened. Everyone started going there and it became packed. With...unfortunately college kids. Loud and obnoxious. Not to mention their capacity is something like 40 people, so you always have to wait. The whiskey is good and SOME bartenders know their shit. But I feel That this place would be way better if it wasn't attached to ri ras and it didn't get half of that crowd. I hate ri ras

An excellent retreat in downtown Burlington. A nice, and diverse, selection of whiskeys, and a great offering of wines and beers too, for those preferring fuel with lesser octane. I had the draft Stone 10.10.10 on two different evenings, and it was delicious. A colleague also tried the cheese bar (we'd eaten dinner before hand), which had a nice selection of hard and soft cheeses, with more than enough for one person to eat. Service is attentive and very friendly.

Wonderful atmosphere, knowledgeable service and excellent light food fare. Must try the Scotch Egg and the chips. This is a very relaxing place to enjoy a drink.

Friday night a friend and i were having some drinks downtown and we decided to check it out. As we walked towards the entrance we stopped a couple to ask what they think. They laughed and said "They think we are in new york not Vermont.". We let it go and decided to check it out anyway. We walked up and when we entered we were told that they were full and was told to wait outside in 5 degree weather. I asked how long they felt the wait would be. "30 minutes" REALLY!!!! there was no one else waiting. I asked if we could wait in Ri Ras and i was told "You need to wait outside at the door to the whiskey bar, Ri Ras has a bar but it is separate." They need to hire "Door Men" not "bouncers"...Bouncers kick out drunks that are disorderly and rude Door Men have the ability to spot money and invite it in and when there is no room they manage the situation so that money comes back. Door Men are good for high end businesses bouncers are for clubs and dive bars..

Nice bartenders and an extensive whiskey book that makes you want to order a whiskey just to have something while you're reading it. They also have a decent beer and wine selection as well. We didn't eat there, but they have some cheese and meat plates if you want to snack instead of eating a meal there. We did try the scotch egg, a hardboiled egg that had some sort of crust on it. It was pretty good. The place is warm, lots of dark wood and a cozy barr.

This place does it right. Not only do they have a large selection of whiskeys, they also have a book that educates you on the kinds you may not be familiar with. The bartender was also extremely knowledgeable and very friendly, and very professional. Not many places have this kind of professional service and knowledge of whiskeys - and I was impressed. She talked the talked and knew her way around the bar when I asked for recommendations based on what notes I enjoy. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it to find some whiskeys you may not have picked up off the shelf. Go for an experience and sit at the bar - the knowledge is worth the price.

I looked forward to taking my husband there before heading to dinner elsewhere. It was his birthday and he loves whiskey. The list of whiskey is impressive and long. When he asked for advice from our waitress, Yvonne, he got "oh, you are in the right section" then she quickly walked away. We were not impressed. Too, bad as we loved the atmosphere and would like to make this location a regular stop when on Church Street.

This place is great. I was recently in burlington for a very short time and we went more than once. They have a VERY good selection of whiskey. The food was good too, and interesting, we didn't eat a meal there (I don't know if you can eat a whole meal there) but the appetizers we ordered were really good. We had a cheese plate among other things and it was quite delicious.

This is the kind of place I like: dark, classy feel, small but big enough to afford some privacy/have no trouble getting a table, quiet enough so you can talk but loud enough so it's not awkward. Their big thing is whiskey. They have a pretty big selection, but not impressively big. It's a fine place to go if you want whiskey, but don't go expecting the rarest of bourbons or anything.

A great addition to Church Street, I only wish it existed when I was living in Burlington. They had a huge selection of whiskeys and the staff was willing to take the time to help determine a selection for a novice like me.

My husband loves whiskey so we had to stop for a drink after seeing this place on Church St. The bar is dark, with wood paneling and leather seats--very masculine and cool. They had a great cocktail menu (which changes seasonally) and a list of local beers. However, where The Whiskey Room really shines is their whiskey list; our waitress dropped off a book of whiskey selections (with descriptions) from all over the globe. With our drinks, we enjoyed a cheese and cracker plate made up of a selection of local cheeses. All in all, a great experience although a bit pricey.

I have this thing where I think any bar or lounge with the name "Whiskey' in it is bound to be good. I dragged my friends here on this assumption and POW! I was spot on! The atmosphere was inviting and staff was friendly. I'm actually not even a fan of Whiskey although if I were I would have been in heaven. They have quite an extensive Whiskey menu. They also offer food which is a huge bonus! I didn't order food but if I did I would have gone with one of their meat & cheese platters to pair with the Whiskey. I just ordered a dark beer on tap, I don't even recall the name but it was delicious. My friend ordered some fancy Vermont Martini and it was amazing! I loved the dark, quaint atmosphere. Favorite part of all, it's attached to an Irish Pub with live music! Cha Ching! SOLD. I will definitely be back!
