We came for lunch and quickly learned that they only made fresh spring rolls for dinner. There was a particular lunch specials menu which was limiting (no appetizers, soups, etc) so we had to order from that. We had the Pad Thai with Chicken and the Beef Pad See Ew. My friend's Pad See Ew was a little oily, but adequate; skimpy beef and skimpy broccoli--definitely too small for the $10 lunch price. The Pad Thai had practically no chicken and about 5 individual bean sprouts with the tiniest piece of lime I've ever seen. I had to ask for a LOT more lime to the whole dish to cover a not-so-pleasant fishy taste. Unappetizing and uninspiring. I always loved Royal Orchid in Montpelier. I can't figure out why nothing ever tastes good in this lower Church Street venue where restaurants open and then close at an alarming rate.

An adorable owner. We felt welcome immediately. Grateful for a drink and good company.

Follow yours nose and you will find Thai Dishes! In the summer or winter months, this resturant is definitely a destination. We had a wait ( good sign) however, we never felt uncomfortable because host directed us right to the bar which had some great local beers on tap. The turn over was wicked fast. Within a few minutes we had water, new beers, and placed our order for appetizers. That point on, the service and food were great! We did a family style meal ( everyone at the table ordered one thing and we shared) which worked out perfectly. Im not usually an all veggie kind of person, but I could have the veggie Pad Pet as my solo meal. At the end of the meal the owner stopped by to make sure everything was on point, which made us feel like part of the community. Such a good experience! Happy we finally have a Thai place in the heart of Burlington! Well done!

My husband and I have been to Thai Dishes twice now and loved it! We live closer to Tiny Thai, but the quieter atmosphere and much better tofu in the pad thai make it well worth the trip!

We went here as a party of six. Our waitress was very nice but our entrees came out at wildly variable times so that most of our food was cold by the time the last dish arrived. I had the pad kee Mao but found the noodles a little undercooked in places and mushy in others. My partner had the massaman a curry. Both dishes were okay but not quite great. We would rather have a less expensive and more flavorful meal at Tiny Thai, our favorite restaurant in the area.

I visited this restaurant last weekend with a group of friends. The food was OK, pretty generic and Americanized, but not bad. Also, our waitress was polite and helpful, though service was a bit slow. That being said, it was really overpriced for the quality. At the end of the meal a friend of mine had a Localvore Deal for the restaurant. The owner refused to honor it as she did not have a printed copy, even though she had the barcode and all numbers needed on her phone. In all fairness, the deal did say they must present a printed copy, but the owner's handling of this situation, with attitude and total dismissal of the fact that the point of the deal is to attract new customers, left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the meal. Nothing about this place was worth the price and quite frankly I don't want to spend my money to support someone so unmotivated by customer service.

Very good Thai food. We visited on Sunday evening for our second time. This is a new restaurant so it was nice to get a table immediately. The soup and entree were yummy. Very spicy, just as we like it. We will be back. We look forward to eating outside at Thai Dishes when the weather gets warmer. Great location, just steps from the BED EV charger on Main Street.

Started with egg rolls and a Sapporo, moved onto basil shrimp fried rice and a noodle dish. All came out quickly, waitress was very attentive, place was very quiet. The food was very good. Veggies fresh and shrimp wasn't overcooked into rubber, great actually. Generous portions, enough for dinner and lunch tomorrow and no skimping on the veggie to starch ratio in the meals, and for all that the price is right! Check them out.

Nice little place just off Church St mall. Great service! Evan is a very warm, welcoming greeter, and Aly is an awesome server! Her knowledge of the menu and help in choosing are spot-on. The aromas and tastes were amazing! I wanted to take the leftover sauce home, it was so delicious!

If I had known Thai Dishes is also operated by Claire and Art Jilandharn -- the same owners of The Royal Orchid in Montpelier & Sabai Sabai in Middlebury, I would have tried this establishment long ago! The name of the restaurant did not catch my attention and the price points are to be expected for downtown Burlington, so I had been in no rush to go in right after opening. But, when I found out the restaurants were linked I was ecstatic! The Royal Orchid is the best Thai food I've tried ever imho, and Thai Dishes did not disappoint! The quality and quantity of food is exactly the same as the Montpelier location where I frequent, except the entrees are a few bucks more, but again, Burlington. The service was excellent and Art was hosting with his usual infectious happy smile. It is BYOB and I don't know when that will change, but I never mind because it helps keeps the dinner bill down. One of my favorite dishes in Montpelier is fried rice served inside a whole pineapple and I do hope that makes an appearance in Burlington, but otherwise I have no complaints. The decor is nice and fresh with plenty of outdoor seating that is dog friendly. Fantastic!

Hot tea and red curry for lunch on a cold day was exactly what I needed. The waitresses were quick to seat me and take my order. My only complaints are that because it was so quiet the servers hovered near by and since I forgot to specify the spicy level I ended up with food that was borderline too spicy for me. Will with out a doubt try again for a dinner.

We went to Thai Dishes for lunch recently and it was the BEST! Everything was so fresh and delicious -- I'm so excited to have a new great take out spot in Burlington. Can't wait to go back!

It became comical. Food was so-so; service was a hot mess. It got weird when the waitress brought us our check before we even finished our meal. I told her that we'd like to probably order some dessert, but we wanted to finish our entrees first. She then wanted to take my plate before we were done (pet peeve #49). And then when we were done, she never came back to take the plates. We even stacked them cleanly to help her out. When we did finally get to order dessert, it took over 20 minutes for it to arrive. Seriously? It wasn't that busy. The table next to us had the same thing happen (check arrived before they were even done; they wanted coffee but bailed on that when it took 20 minutes before it was even close to being poured). They had ample wait staff but it didn't look like anyone was helping each other out. One and done for us there.

This place would be OK, i guess, if the dishes were $8. at these prices I expected something more. as in good food, nice place. The service was incompetent, and each of our party's dishes came out at a different time. i ordered a dish that said "spicy" and it was not even a little spicy. same for several other people in my group. even the Tom Yum was bland! my friend had the pad thai and it was soaking in a pool of oil. the spring rolls were skimpy and came with a flavorless watery dipping sauce. the water came in nasty looking, plastic pitchers that were broken and grimy. the waitress reached across our plates as we were eating over and over and never asked how the meal was or if we wanted anything...i usually don't mind that kind of thing and i know this all sounds harsh and possibly spoiled but seriously this was crummy service, not very good food, and overpriced. and i left hungry. thumbs down. do not recommend.

This place is a waste of money, there are way better versions of the dishes on this menu pretty much anywhere else you might try in downtown Burlington. The restaurant commented on a review from two months ago that they would rework the ridiculous $6 surcharge on shared plates (not split plates - just shared dishes), but they haven't. What they never seemed to deny is that they're using pre-chopped and frozen vegetables and that the food tastes bad. I spent a lot of money on a small amount of food, and it was so bad I didn't even finish it. I was charged $5 extra for seafood in my soup and received one shrimp, one mussel, and three pieces of squid. Not to mention barely thawed large-dice onions. To future customers - save yourselves. To the restaurant owners - seriously, gross and insulting, the people in this town might try your food once and leave annoyed, but that won't keep you running.

My wife, daughter and I absolutely love Thai Dishes - a welcome addition to Burlington's restaraunt scene. Royal Orchid (same owner) is one of our favorite destinations when we visit Montpelier and Thai Dishes is just as good. We've eaten in the restaraunt several times since it opened and also order take-out at least once a month. Service is excellent and the food is even better. My go-to is pad kee mao with chicken, a spicy noodle dish, while the pad thai is also stellar. Portions are plentiful and the staff is more than willing to honor special requests (my wife is vegan). If you're looking for a great place to grab dinner or lunch on Church Street, or quick take-out, don't hesitate to visit Thai Dishes. We are so happy that we no longer have to head to Winooski to get our Thai (by the way, our opinion is Thai Dishes is much better than Tiny Thai)!

Meh is what I have to say. Save the trip to Burlington- go one exit further on I-89, pick up a 6 pack and have 4 star experience at Tiny Thai. We ordered the wings and sampler to start. The meat on the chicken wings was good but the sauce tasted like something you could buy at the grocery store. The spring rolls were a mystery, the tofu was a sponge (granted I don't like tofu), fried dumplings was fried bread with mystery meat, chicken curry skewers were good but paper thin. The #52 (red curry) spicy but flat and boring. The #37 (sweet and sour) was okay, again the sauce was something you buy from the grocery store and I think the pineapple was from a can. Needless to say we won't be back. Glad we tried, but no thanks... We ll be at Tiny Thai! The one up and up about this place - our server was excellent and attentive.

I liked Thai Dishes. It's conveniently located and the food tastes good. The ambiance is great. We came here last night with a large group. It did take awhile for food to come, but they don't have a lot of staff, so that's understandable (and that feedback was given to the owner who also helped us and was our server). I ordered the Pad Kee Moa, which came out very juicy and freshly cooked. I asked for it to be very spicy, but also enjoyable to eat, which it totally was. It was a little on the salty side, so adding in some more spices was helpful. I would have liked some sugar to be added to offset the spiciness. Overall, I liked the ambiance, the low level chatter and noise level, and the decor. It's good it's located so close so I can come back in a less busy time and see how everything compares then!

This review is purely based on the Lunch Special #17 Gwio Dtiaw Tom Yum Noodle Soup. I've had their duck curry in the past, which was pretty good. The noodles were al dente, almost a little too much - it didn't seem like the broth was infusing with the noodle. The chicken was sliced white meat, which was pretty flavorless if you ate a piece separately. The broth, unfortunately, didn't have a defined spicy or sour flavor - you can tell from the color, that there are definitely some ingredients missing. Overall, I would say this noodle soup is just bland, and even with all the chili flakes they put in... just doesn't seem like they cooked the broth for very long... to allow the flavors to develop. Maybe best to stick with the dishes that other reviewers had better luck with.

My partner and I came here for dinner last Friday and were absolutely delighted. The ambience was fantastic, the service was kind and quick, and the food was THE BOMB!!! So much better than Tiny Thai. We had been looking for a place to satisfy our thai food cravings since the closing of Honey Thai, and I'm so glad we finally found it. I strongly recommend.

I'm writing this review because they have a giant sticker on the front door urging their patrons to do so (careful what you wish for...). We're in Burlington VT, arguably the best place in the east for gastropubs with insanely great local craft beers, so sure my friend wants to try Thai. I have a personal rule, if it takes them more than 10 min for the server to acknowledge us then I just get up and leave, its usually a barometer of the overall service and usually wont get any better. Just as we were about to leave a server came by but in hindsight wish I would have just kept going out the door. The server tried to take our drink order, my friend was ordering a riesling off the wine menu, server never heard of "Riesling" and had to point it out on the menu, yes seriously. Our drinks finally arrived and the server took dinner order, we both selected items that were flagged as "spicy" the #31 and #33 and off he went. Fast forward 15 min, no food, drinks are empty. Two new people are seated at a table next to us and they have already got their food, we're still waiting. A few minuets later our waiter comes back and asks us "what did you folks order?" He lost our order, so we needed to reorder, yes seriously. Finally our allegedly "spicy" dishes arrived, so mediocre, nothing special and not spicy at all. At this point I just wanted to eat and get out. You can probably guess what happens (or didn't happen next). Our waiter was nowhere to be found, every so often he would be running from the kitchen to the outdoor tables holding a single dish, obviously from other orders he probably messed up. He never came buy to ask us how our meal was and if we wanted more drinks. We got tired of waiting for him, my friend had to get up and ask him to bring us our check immediately, we still had to wait another 5-10 min. We paid cash and left him a penny tip. Will never go back there ever again, wish we went to the pizza place next door.

Wanted to try Thai Dishes because my friends have takes about it. So I went with a friends for lunch on a weekday. We went in to the restaurant and it was completely empty at lunchtime. We were swiftly sat down. I didn't want to have noodles or curry so I chose to have the roasted pork lunch special. My fiend ordered the Madsaman curry bento box. We both got Thai Iced Teas. The Thai Iced Teas were really sweet. My friend's bento box looked good but the portions were small. My roster pork with rice was good but there was too much sauce on it, it was also too sweet. Overall the customer service was great. But the food so just okay. I prefer Tiny Thai. It was also very over priced. I will come back but not often.

Absolutely loved this place. Had amazing pad Thai and curry while there. Really enjoyed the seating by the open door and that hey leave a carafe of water for easy refilling. The food had great flavor, good heat, and came out quickly. I would recommend to everyone.

This restaurant is owned by the same fellow who owns the excellent Royal Orchid in Montpelier and Ocha in Waterbury, both restaurants my family and I have been enjoying for many years. When we moved to the Burlington-Area from Waterbury in 2008, we were so disappointed by the Thai options in the area, like Tiny Thai (awful, non-authentic Thai food) and Honey Thai (now closed) that we gave up on it altogether and transferred our affection to the excellent Vietnamese food served at Pho Dang in Winooski and Essex. Last year we were delighted to hear that one of our favorite restaurants had opened up in Burlington. Thai Dishes is equally as good as its sister restaurants, Ocha and Royal Orchid, and, frankly, better than most of the Thai food I've had in New York City and Los Angeles. Their Pad Thai is INSANELY good, and so is the Tom Kha soup and the red curries (panang and regular). I especially like the long, thin bamboo shoots and egg plant they add to the curries. And, everything on the menu is reasonably priced. (A visit here won't put you in the poor house like a meal at A Single Pebble!) The last time we ate at Thai Dishes the service was excellent. I suspect some of the poor reviews were written by their competitors or people who are used to eating americanized Thai food that they mistakenly believe is authentic. If you eat here, you won't be sorry. Fellow Burlingtonians, pleas don't let this place go out of business because of neglect! I'd rather not have to drive all the way to Waterbury for a decent Thai dish!

Delicious authentic Thai - beautifully presented. Across the street from the hustle bustle of the other bars & restaurants - you won't be diaappointed with this choice.

We wanted a nice meal before the show, and were pressed for time! Both of our meals were before us within 15 minutes after we walked in the door! The menu has a great variety, and lots to choose from if you're vegan. My pad Thai was just the comfort food I was needing, and my husband had a duck-based house specialty that was delicious. We each had a drink, and we walked out very happy for about $50.00. The restaurant was comfortably full but not packed for a Saturday night, and it was quiet- just the way I love it! Our server was attentive to our time constraints. Burlington is full of restaurants, but I'll go back to Thai Dishes again many more times this year!

Was extremely excited to try out this new Thai restaurant in Burlington since the recent Seven Days' three page article and positive reviews when the restaurant was just opening. I was optimistic for a stellar experience but I feel that my dinner this evening is consistent with a lot of other reviews: the dining experience falls short when considering the cost. The ambiance was great, but we were asked 3 times for our order in the first 5 minutes. I had ordered a glass of wine which I would definitely consider a light pour at $8 a glass. Though the physical space had set the stage for a relaxing and causal experience, we found ourselves extremely pressured to make a decision. The food was certainly good (we ordered Springrolls, fried rice, and a house special duck curry), so I hope to be back again to give it a second try (with fingers crossed for a better dining experience).

I went here two times this past weekend for dinnner - once with some friends and the other with my wife for a date. The time with my friends was good, service was good and food tasted great. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, Veggie Fried Rice and Beef Red Curry. The second time, something ANNOYING happened. I went with my wife, and because my wife was not that hungry, we ordered two appetizers and one entree. The waitress then pointed out that because we were not ordering two entrees, she would have to charge us an additional $6. I was so confused. I just ordered two appetizers and an entree...you want to charge us an additional $6 just because we didn't order a second entree? Are you kidding me? So I reluctantly changed my order to one appetizer and two entrees. What if my wife was just sitting there to watch me eat or wasn't hungry at all? Would you charge $6 extra just because I have someone keeping me company? I will NO LONGER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT on principle until this $6 extra charge is taken away. I think the food is good, and so is the service, but this policy is one I have not seen at any Burlington restaurant I've been too.

This was very average americanized Thai Food. First, the service from the beginning was poor. My friend and I waited 10 min to be seated despite 3/4 of the tables being empty. We were then seated at a table right next to one of the only other diners. We requested another table and the waitress offered us the other table right next to the same people. We took the loss. To start we both ordered the fresh rolls. These were the most bland fresh rolls I've ever consumed and the "sweet and sour" sauce tasted like water. Our main courses were much better than initial experiences but still in the mediocre range. On another note I requested that they make a Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk instead of half & half since I am dairy intolerant. The response was "we don't have coconut milk". I've gotten this response enough at Thai restaurants for it not to influence my opinion of the place, but come on - you're a Thai restaurant, 1/3 of your dishes are made with coconut milk!! Tiny Thai in Winooski blows this place out of the water with better prices, ambiance and flavor.

My partner and I gave Thai Dishes a shot after purchasing a jump on it deal. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, which was a bit unsettling, but the server quickly greeted us and brought us to a table. We were quickly able to order beers from their respectable draft list & took our time looking over the menu. We landed on the fried eggrolls as an appetizer, which came adorably sliced on a bias and served stacked into an ice cream sundae dish with sweet & sour sauce at the bottom. For entrees, my partner ordered Pad Pet which we agreed was medium-level spicy and definitely delicious - much better than what we've been getting at Tiny Thai recently. I ordered the Geng Dtaeng, which had good flavor, but was thin and watery - not as creamy and viscous as TT's. I'll definitely try it out again when I need a Thai fix because it's so convenient, but we'll still drive out to our main squeeze, Sukho Thai in Essex, when we can plan ahead.
