Best burger in Burlington. While the burger isn't the acclaimed Worthy Burger in South Royalton, it otherwise compares favorably to any other burger in Vermont (including, yes, Prohibition Pig). In particular, I'm referring to the creative and tasty and unusual burger nights. So good! The homemade ice cream was really good. Only quibble...service gets distracted. But it feels like a minor point since the service is so happy.

In town for a short visit, this was the last stop before the trip back to Saratoga and what a way to leave! I immediately wanted to go here for breakfast with a name like Chubby muffin, how could you not?? I wanted every quickee on the menu! Went with a meat quickee, my boyfriend got the Johnny, which was the favorite. The English muffins were fresh and fluffy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. This place has a griddle, everything tastes better on a griddle. It was the cashiers first day, he was a bit nervous but got the job done. He made our mochas, they need work ;) but he'll get there! All in all, amazing breakfast spot, I would recommend it to anyone. Now please open one in Saratoga!

I do like this place, but the Burger and a Beer for $10 deal is a serious disappointment. The service was incredibly slow despite the place being fairly empty, the "burger" was an overcooked meatball with a tiny amount of cheese on top, and the whole thing tasted like nothing. Burgers are PATTIES, not spheres, guys. My order was accompanied by chips which were chips in name only. In taste and texture they resembled slate. Not worth it.

We've visited the Chubby Muffin twice now and both times we've been pleasantly surprised. It's a small, very intimate little place with limited seating, although we've never had trouble getting a table. They offer a compact menu highlighting some local favorite ingredients. Prices are reasonable (I think everything is under $10 - most sandwiches are $8 and under), the food is well-portioned, all homemade from scratch and really very tasty. Today we opted for sandwiches - "The Good JuJu" and "The Southern Gentleman". We're actually both vegetarian but fell off the wagon (or is it on the wagon? I always forget) because we liked the look of the menu choices so much. Not that they don't have vegetarian options (they do, and plenty), but today we were both feeling a little bit rogue. Hey, you only live once. "The Good JuJu" is a homemade bean burger with Cabot Cheddar, slaw, tomato, bacon and some kind of very tasty homemade sauce. The Good JuJu was a good choice. My wife enjoyed it immensely. "The Southern Gentleman" is a pulled-pork sandwich loaded with Cabot Cheddar and caramelized onions. This thing really packs a flavor punch. And it's as filling as it is yummy. Almost too much for my herbivorous stomach - almost, but not quite. Both were served with a very large stack of home-made super-crunchy chips and slaw. When we're ready to fall off the wagon again, this is likely the place we'll do it.

Good breakfast foods, ranging from sweet and savory muffins to "quickie" breakfast sandwiches on homemade English muffins. The coffee is pretty good too. The reason for four stars is that the place is kind of dim inside with small windows and the outside door and store front look dirty and/or poorly maintained. I would not hang out here bc of atmosphere but would definitely get food and drinks to go.

THE best muffins in town! Decadent, so almost like eating a dessert, but their lemon poppy seed and banana chocolate chip muffins in particular are the stuff of dreams. Great as a wake up treat with coffee, or an after dinner snack. Seriously don't miss out on these!

This place is so cute and tiny!! Went with a friend for a quick breakfast. I had coffee to sip while deciding what to eat (it was strong but not burnt-just right). It offers a small menu and has a focus on quick food to warm you up and keep going, without being a place with a large dining room. We had no problem finding seats as we appeared to have come at a slow time. We both ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on english muffin. I am incredibly selective about the way my eggs are done and this was fine. The eggs are local eggs which is always a great thing! I was also pleased to discover that cheddar implies white cheddar in vermont (yay!! can this concept come to nyc please!). All in all, a good place to grab something quick.

Eh.. their burgers only come with 2 add ons that are 50 cents each.. the burger doesnt include lettuces, tomato and onion so you pretty much get a dry burger and are expected to be okay with that. Their breakfast food is awesome! But come on if you are selling burgers make a damn burger! Too expensive.

I like the Chubby Muffin for lunch. There are only a couple parking spots in front of the restaurant on the street, but I have not had a problem finding a place to park that is only a short walk away. Seating is limited on the inside, but I was able to find a place to sit. For lunch, I had the beef burger and my wife had the black bean burger (or maybe the other way around - I don't remember). We tried each other's food and liked them both. I will go back - sometime for breakfast I hope! Basically this is a small cafe in the north end. It has a comfortable, down to earth environment and it's a fun place to go

Not a bad option for a quick breakfast. The breakfast sandwiches are decent, but could use some spice. I've not tried their local burgers. They look pretty good and are very reasonably priced. I'm getting one of those next. I admire their dedication to bringing good, local food to the Old North End at an affordable price. In the summertime they serve house made ice cream which is also on my agenda. I have heard great things about it and am looking forward to the day.

On average, very good service. The bold coffee is strong, but not burnt! I like their muffins, but I had one of their breakfast sandwiches and it was dry and boring. Maybe I should ask for a runny yolk next time, or I'm pedestrian and don't understand what the artist was going for. The one time that I ate there (and didn't get it to go), I had gone with a friend. I seem to remember that the table we sat at was too small; like, laughably tiny for a two-top. Not sure if "charming" or uncomfortable, table-wise. Again, maybe I don't get the point of the small table (I've always had trouble with intimacy!).

From the guys who bought you The Skinny Pancake, now comes their newest adventure with the Chubby Muffin. With a name like the Chubby Muffin, one would immediately think they would only sell muffins. However, a co-worker of mine was looking for a place to go to lunch and someone mentioned that the Chubby Muffin also serves burgers of various kinds. Getting in on the company lunch, I went with the standard burger for only $4.95. I was very surprised when my order also came with a side of chips and a pickle. The burger itself was quite interesting in a good way. The meat was very tender and juicy. The buns actually didn't seem to be buns as I think they were actually english muffins. Also, whatever the sauce they use consisted of, had some very nice subtle flavors. In conclusion, if your looking for a new burger joint and looking to keep cost low, I highly recommend checking out the Chubby Muffin.

Black bean burger. Even if you're not a veggie burger person, you must try it. They've somehow found a way to make a perfectly moist and delicious burger and the sauce they put on top is incredible too. I don't live in Burlington anymore, but anytime I come up and visit I always make a trip to the Chubby Muffin for the amazing veggie burger.

Since I had gone to The Skinny Pancake before I knew that I would eventually have to try Chubby Muffin. I do think that the location could be better. But once your inside, it sort of has a coffeehouse feel to it. The people there were extremely friendly, the food was good and the prices weren't bad either. I didn't try any muffins but I they do have some interesting looking flavors. The atmosphere is pleasant. There are some games scattered on the tables and a bookshelf with books that you can purchase. It's just a cute little local place!

Chubby Muffin is a very small cafe in the Old North End specializing in burgers, paninis, and of course, muffins. Wonderful original artwork (that you can buy) decorate the walls from artist and barista, Rob Blum. The storefront isn't very flashy and you can tell it's quite a small operation, but I really like the inviting atmosphere. The name Chubby Muffin is a witty play on their partner restaurant, The Skinny Pancake. I got excited at the prospect of trying some new and unique muffin creations. Savory muffins? I've never heard of such a thing. The closest thing to a savory muffin that I've tasted would probably be those crack cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster. Could specialty, artisan muffins join its confectionary cousins, the cupcake or the macaron, in being the next big thing? Unfortunately, the answer is no. The muffins were lackluster. If a muffin isn't at least as large as a Costco-sized muffin, it does not deserve to be qualified as chubby. I tried three different muffins here on three separate visits. I was frustrated to find out that the savory muffins were sold out by noon on both occasions, although there were plenty of sweet muffins left. Both the apple cinnamon and corn muffins were dry. There wasn't anything spectacular about them. They could have at least tried putting whole kernels into the muffin like they do at Souplantation. We finally reserved a savory muffin to be held for the next day. What we thought would be a cheddar and scallion instead turned out to be cheddar and jalapenos. It tasted somewhat like the corn muffin with some cheese and a hint of jalapeno flavor (no spice whatsoever). Disappointing. On the upside, there were a lot of things I enjoyed at Chubby Muffin such as their sandwiches. The Southern Gentleman is a must-try pulled-pork sandwich on a housemade English muffin. The Rookie's Rootbeer BBQ sauce has a great sweet and tangy finish. The Ramble panini is also another favorite, combining ham, cheddar, apples, red onions, and chipotle mayo into a surprisingly fulfilling meal. It's also nice that the paninis support the local community by donating 1% of all proceeds to local organizations. If this place were more appropriately named Chubby Panini, I wouldn't hesitate to add on another star. But, if you're going to brand your cafe for specializing in something, that item better be damn well good. The slow service didn't help either. Albeit, Chubby Muffin is a relatively new venture, I hope with a little trial, error, and luck, they find that recipe for successful muffins.

I've never written a bad review before- but I have tried the Chubby Muffin three times and always walked away extremely disappointed. I'm surprised because my experiences with the Skinny Pancake have always been so fabulous. First of all, the customer service is woefully inadequate. The attitude behind the counter is distracted at best, and at worst downright rude. I ordered lunch and they behaved as if they were put out that they were being asked to make something. When we ordered ice cream and their creemee machine broke, they never made eye contact or let us know how long the wait would be. They complained loudly to each other, and when I asked if we should keep waiting, they scoffed and shrugged. We tried one final time to get coffee and were served lattes of scalded milk ten minutes later. I guess I just wanted to share my experiences and suggest to the Chubby Muffin that they put more of an emphasis on being friendly and communicative with customers. Afterall, you're in the Old North End. We love it here and would really appreciate a staff that takes the time to smile and say hi back.

This was our first time in and everything was great - muffins, breakfast sandwiches and hot drinks! We will definitely be back and have more breakfast and to try lunch as well.

I recently moved to Burlington and my apartment just so happened to be located across the street from the Chubby Muffin. I actually have yet to have their muffins but their burgers are phenomenal. They serve them on a homemade English muffin which is unique and the patties appear to be hand-pressed and are flavorful and juicy. The atmosphere of the place is very pleasant and comes complete with a book-trading shelf.

this place is fantastic. the staff are all loveable, they make their own ice cream, and the bacon quickies are addicting.

Delicious food with great prices. The homemade english muffins that the sandwiches are made with are awesome. The root beer bbq sauce in the Southern Gentleman was literally out of this world.
