Tried Perkins out for Breakfast twice now, both times we got great quality French Toast, decent scrambled eggs that could've used a dash of cheese, the best breakfast potatoes I've had, and after we asked for the bacon and sausage to be "well done", good bacon and sausage links. Kids meals come with a free drink and a Crazy Cookie, which is half sugar and half chocolate chip, awesome for kids old enough for cookies. Their grilled cheese looked awesome and the bread was perfect, but I need real cheese and it seemed to be made with processed squares. Take home chocolate cookies are so sweet I can't eat more than half of one a day, and when hubby ordered a muffin as his breakfast bread, our waitress took a while to remember what their five standard muffins are. They lose bits of a star for: being short on parking (since they share space with a hotel), never asking if we want anything else, just dropping off the bill, not checking often enough on drinks after the meal is delivered. One breakfast we received four kinds of warm syrup, the second breakfast only gave us warm maple, which is all we needed, but... the options were nice? Butter on your breakfast bread item comes in a little tub, which is so much nicer than the restaurants that just put a glob of butter on the pancakes/waffles/french toast. One time our waitress took a fair amount of time to bring LittleGuy his milk, but it still arrived before she took our order. Now, we need to try non-breakfast.

Regular stop on weekends for She Who Must Be Obeyed, for both breakfast/brunch and sometimes weeknight dinners. A good variety of middle-American food, with good balance of sweet and savory dishes. As the other review commented, the selection and quality of desserts can be variable; the turnovers are generally reliable, and the pie (especially in peach season) is very good. It's also notable that they have sugar-free or no-sugar-added options, which make this more desirable for folks with diabetic friends or relatives to enjoy. Can be very busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings due to church and traffic from the attached Best Western hotel. If you have a large party (more than 4 or 5), call ahead, or you'll end up waiting a while on weekends. They also have regular Monday night specials for seniors (which is actually fun, since this is a rural area; the seniors get dressed up and it's kinda date night for them. It's really sweet.)

Good breakfast but slow staff. And pretty empty during the day

Another chain, but again pretty good food for the dollar. We like their pancakes for dinner. Their desserts are hit or miss, some of them are sometimes excellent, other times they are not so good.

I love Perkins. I usually go to the one in Fredericksburg but I was in the area and stopped here. Great food and service. Nice to see a chain be consistent.

As a former Perkin's Employee/Management (another place and almost a lifetime ago), I typically try to avoid any Perkins Restaurant. Where does one park here? It seemed like there was very little parking here for a somewhat popular chain restaurant. My bride talked me into going to this one with our daughter, my son and my brother. The standard menu had changed somewhat dramatically since 20 years ago, but there were still the go-to egg and pancake favorites I remembered. Nowadays they actually leave the coffee carafe at one's table. The food was good, the service was okay. It was busy and in typical Perkin's fashion, the place seemed understaffed with the servers doing the best they could to keep up with the demands being put on them. The pancakes were still as good as I remember them. It's always good to go back to a place like this and enjoy it once in awhile.

The food is excellent no problems there, it loses a star for occasional annoying staff. The decor is very nice. Good for families especially.

Best breakfast I've had in months, and very reasonable prices! My new favorite restaurant :)

My wife and I were trying to find something different, so we tried this place. She had fond memories of the place when she was younger, while I was expecting a sub-par casual food-factory experience. I am happy to say that my expectations were blown out of the water. Reminding me a lot of Bakers Square or Marie Callender's, both bakery/restaurants with high values. The food was excellent and plentiful, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the bakery...let's just say a lot of willpower was used. This is a definite place to go. The only possible downside (though not enough to affect the ratings) is that parking is ridiculously small, considering it shares a spot with a Best Western. If the hotel is full, your chances of finding a place to park are nil, so plan your visits if possible.

The best thing about this place is that you can come here with your grandparents. It's probably also good for picky children. And hey, that's huge! But it's not going to earn this place more than a single star and here's why: It's not an especially cheap place, and the food is really really bland and plain and terrible. I got a chicken sandwich for lunch and it was literally a chicken breast, a tomato, a piece of lettuce, and a bun. I don't even make sandwiches that plain for myself at home. Was it gross? No (though there was certainly a high ratio of tasteless chicken to anything else). There wasn't anything WRONG with it. It wasn't moldy, the chicken was cooked (too cooked). It was just so, so boring -- and that's not why I eat! If you want to go back to middle school lunches, come here and you will be in heaven. Otherwise do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for real food.

Stop for breakfast on my way through, nothing spectacular and I wasn't expecting it to be. They had some good deals to choose from on the menu that were light on the wallet as well. The food was kind of bland and it wasn't anything to write home about, but it hit the spot for early in the morning. The service here was superior to other joints I've been to. I swear our waitress didn't write a single thing down the whole time we were there, and she did not forget a single thing we said. Everything came out as it was ordered and she was even kind enough to split the check the ways we wanted. For a quick stop while you're driving through, it's an okay place to stop.

Best breakfast in Winchester. The sour dough toast is just too good... ought to be illegal. Fast and fresh with a friendly wait staff

I've eaten at Perkins in Winchester many times over the years. However, I have scaled back my visits due to several issues. First, breakfast continues to be good and remains a good value. Breakfast for two is usually less than $30. In comparison, the Bob Evans across the street costs much more. The last time we had breakfast there it cost over $42 for two. I've never had an issue with the actual Breakfast meal at Perkins. Lunch and Dinner used to be fairly good when I first started going to this location 10 years ago. However, I have watched this place evolve downhill over the years by cutting back on the amount of food provided, revamping the menu, and removing menu selections while raising the price. They once provided unlimited fresh baked rolls with your meal. Then they changed to smaller and less quality brown and serve type square dinner rolls. Then Perkins started limiting the number of times you can request a bread basket and now you have to request them with a meal, limit one per customer. Another issue is the side salad. I like a decent sized salad with my meal. They used to have available a decent sized side house salad for $1.99 that was served on a side order dinner plate. Now they raised the price and reduced the size to a puny salad that arrives on what appears to be a bread plate. You can literally fit the side salad in the palm of your hand. Not nearly enough for an adult. I used to enjoy the steak dinner. However, that menu item as well as others have been removed from the current menu. I've given this location 3 stars because breakfast is still good. However, I rarely go for lunch or dinner, because the selections, and price of the menu items for the amount of food given are no longer acceptable to me. On my last visit, I noticed they are beginning to scale back the breakfast selections as well. We used to get a combo (Magnificent 7) that cost less than $20 for two. However, that breakfast is no longer available. To purchase the same breakfast on the new menu, now costs over $26 with tax.

Sorry for the 1 star review. I ate there about 4-5 times in July during a 10 day course that I took at the university. It was convenient and that's all I can say. Food tastes like hospital cafeteria food. Low quality and mostly fried, breaded and tasteless. Seems to be very popular with the older crowd. Service was excellent EXCEPT during breakfast when I had a really rude young male waiter. He got my egg order wrong, so I had to send it back. Bit of attitude. Then when he returned with it, I asked for some hot sauce and he made a face and looked away, smirking to cover up his attitude, as if I was some kind of a jerk for asking. Hot sauce for eggs? I wasn't asking for anything exotic. So I had a great impression of the service until encountering him. He is in the wrong business. I only ate there because it was convenient. I would rather pay a little more for decent quality food.

Great service and decent breakfast, though the food at the nearby cracker barrel is better in my opinion.
